Argumentative Essay On Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy has been used since 1895 to create weapons that could destroy men by the millions.
Scientists later transformed this destructive weapon into a new form of usable, renewable energy.
Nuclear energy is energy created by harnessing the energy produced by the nuclear reactions that
take place inside the nucleus of the UraniumIsotope 235, ( Nuclear Energy ). Nuclear energy is
one attempt to decrease the rate at which nonrenewable fossil fuels are being consumed. Some
believe nuclear energy to be an environmentally friendly and self sustaining way to produce
energy; however, there are a countless number of social and economically risks to consider;
ultimately, the detrimental effects power plant leaks and explosions have on the human body, the
cost it takes to produce the plants, and the production of nuclear waste, should be enough to
persuade one to turn away from using nuclear energy as a source of power.
The fear of a nuclear power plants is reasonable, considering there were thirty three accidents
between the 1950 s and early 2000 s, (McInnes, Colin). Multiple incidents jeopardized the health
of employees and near by citizens. Six of these incidents happened in the United States, five in
Japan, and three in the United Kingdom and Russia. Thirty five liters of highly enriched Uranium
solution leaked during transfer, in the United Kingdom; more than 100 workers were exposed to
one hundred and fifty millirems of radiation a day in Japan; reactors in

more accurate assessment of what you will need in your new HR system it is important that you
involve key stakeholders of the company in the decision making process. The following is a list
of the key stakeholders that should be included in the decision making process: CEO Dr. Michael
Riordan is the boss of the entire company and the person behind making the corporate strategies.
He is primarily concerned with the performances of the company as well as the services the
company is providing to the customers and employees. So integrating a new HR system directly

Another way of successfully gathering information is by building a prototype or model of the
system, so that users can test or get an idea of what the finished product will be like. With this they
can determine issues, problems, or inconsistency with the system. Another important part of
gathering information is organizing it so that it can be understood and put to proper use. I propose
categorizing the requirements into functional requirements, operational requirements, technical
requirements, and transitional requirements. The functional requirements define how the user
thinks the system is functioning overall, the operational requirements define what background
processes need to be executed in order for the system to work optimally over a period of time, the
technical requirements define what technical issues that must be addressed in order to successfully
implement the system, and the transitional requirements define the processes or steps needed to
implement the system smoothly and successfully. ( Mind Tools , 2012). 1.4. Project Scope The
project scope statement is a key element in any new project. It is used to outline the results that the
project will produce and the terms and conditions under which the work will be performed. Upper

Seven Spotted Lady Beetle Research Paper
The class Insecta is comprised of six legged organisms which are divided into three sections, the
head, thorax and abdomen. The head of most insects contains a set of antennas used for sensing
and a mandible used for crushing or cutting food. The second section of the insect or the thorax of
the insect contains all of the six legs and can contain the wings of some insects, it is a key part of
the insects movements. Insects are the only the only known arthropods which can possibly have
wings. The back segment, the abdomen is used by insects to contain reproductive organs and can
also hold means of defense that are utilized when the insect is threated such as stingers.

Since their life span is approximately one to two years they are commonly captured and bred on
agricultural plots. In addition, because of how they are prey to larger animals, the mass
reproduction of the helps feed other animals preventing them from wanting to attack crops.
The Harmful insect which I have chosen is the Green Peach Aphid. KINGDOM: Animalia
PHYLUM: Arthropoda Class: Insecta ORDER: Hemiptera FAMILY: Aphididae. The Green
Peach Aphid starts from an egg and grows up morphs into a foundress. The foundress becomes
an asexual female aphid with or without wings. The aphid forms an asexual female which does
not need to fertilize to produce offspring and makes either a sexual male or a sexual female
which fertilize the eggs. Most types of aphid lay their eggs either in the plant or on the plant and
proceed to kill the plant when they emerge. These aphids are harmful because can also transmit
hundreds diseases and/or viruses to the plants. When they lay their eggs in the plant it can kill the
plant when they emerge causing losses by reproduction. The most direct cause of harm is caused
when the aphids consume the sugars straight out of the plant. The estimated loss caused by the
Green Peach Aphid is estimatated at one billion dollars worth of crops. In addition, most of the
types of aphids have learned to adapt to pesticides making them harder to deal

Ancient Druids
Very little is known about the ancient druids. They left no written accounts of themselves, and the
only evidence is a few descriptions left by Greek, Roman, and various scattered authors and artists,
as well as stories created by later medieval Irish writers [4] Druids concern themselves with divine
affairs, managing public and private sacrifices and interpreting matters of religion. [1] A great
number of young men gather about them to learn and hold them in great honor. In fact, it is they
who decide in almost all disputes, public and private; and if any crime has been committed, or
murder done, or there is any dispute about succession or boundaries, they also decide it,
determining rewards and penalties: if any person or people does not abide by their decision, they
ban such from sacrifice, which is their heaviest penalty. [7] Those that are so banned are reckoned
as impious and criminal, all men move out of their path and shun their approach and conversation,

I believe that they have adopted this practice for two reasons: that they don t want their teaching to
become common knowledge, nor do they desire for those who learn the rule to rely on writing and
so neglect the cultivation of the memory. It does usually happen that the assistance of writing tends
to relax the diligence of the student and the action of the memory. [7] A modern example of this is
how people no longer remember phone numbers because it is simply stored in their cellular

Comparing Apocalypse Now and Saving Private Ryan
Comparing Apocalypse Now and Saving Private Ryan Desai Abdul Razzaaq HIST 1302
American History IIMr. Daniel Bush Central Texas College January 4, 2010 The films Saving
Private Ryan and Apocalypse Now were both critically acclaimed films depicting the dramas of
war. They both had very realistic qualities and great cinematic values. The films had two great
Hollywood directors in, Steven Spielberg directing Saving Private Ryan and Francis F. Coppola,

Private Ryan emphasizes the toll of war, whereas Apocalypse Now rather plainly... Show more

The famous Hollywood director, Steven Spielberg, through his 1998 blockbuster film Saving
Private Ryan, gave us a glimpse into the realities of war, in particular, World War II s D day
invasion and the immediate aftermath, as it played out in the European theater. The story opens
with a prologue, in which a veteran brings his family to the American cemetery at Normandy,
and in a flashback he joins Captain John Miller, played by Tom Hanks, and GIs in a landing craft
making the June 6, 1944 approach to Omaha Beach to face devastating German artillery fire.
This mass slaughter of American soldiers is depicted in a compelling, unforgettable 24 minute
sequence. Afterwards, he is then given a new mission, to find and extract Private James Francis
Ryan, played by Matt Damon, one of four brothers, the other three of whom have been killed in
action within days of each other. Because Private Ryan was the last remaining son of a grieving
mother, Washington D.C. has ordered his extraction and his return home. Again in contrast to
Apocalypse Now , whereas the taking of one man s life was the goal, in Saving Private Ryan , the
goal was the saving of one man s life. Even further, Captain Miller and his men realize this is not a

Ruined Me Changes
Yes, you read the title correctly. Yoga has ruined my life. It has changed and shifted me from the
inside out. The way I think, speak, and even the way I eat and breathe is totally different because
of yoga. Yoga has changed just about everything about me, but it has ruined me in three big ways:
1. Response versus Reaction
There was a time in my life that I didn t really think about things. I didn t think before I spoke. I
didn t think before I made big decisions, like what colleges to apply for. I didn t really question
anything either. I was OK with whatever life path I was on. I was OK with the mean boys I dated
and the clothes I wore. I rarely ever took a moment to wonder if the activities and people I was
engaging were harmful or careless. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was all about me (sometimes it kind of still, is to be honest). I didn t care if I hurt your
feelings. I thought volunteering was for nerds. I always satisfied my own pleasures. I would lie
and manipulate to get my way (OK, Mom, I admitted it, are you happy now?!). I wouldn t return
favors. I used people. And then... The darn yoga. Yoga kicked and scratched and bruised my ego. It
put me in my place on more than on occasion and force fed me some humble pie. It made me care
about other people. Yoga led me to Kula for Karma, and then I realized how important seva and
volunteering are. Now I can t imagine a life without them. As mentioned earlier, it made me
think before I spoke... And in those thoughts, other people s feelings and circumstances came up.
I found myself forgiving people and praying for people rather than threatening people and
pulling hair. Now I want other people to feel good. I don t lie.... As much. I don t think I m
manipulative anymore (but my mom will have to confirm that). Now I m a favor giving queen,
and a lot of the time I really, really don t expect anything in return. I m apologetic. I m kind ish.
Not only to other people, but to

Life Of Pi And Religion
In his interview with Jennie Renton, author Yann Martel says that the subtext of his novel Life
of Pi can be summarized in three lines: life is a story, you can choose your story, and a story with
God is a better story. In his novel, Martel uses the concepts of religion and fiction in a way that is
almost interchangeable. Through the character and beliefs of Pi, he shares the idea that all
religions contain stories and a reason for our existence, and that what makes this good is the
reassurances it provides in our lives. Religions make life meaningful and gives us purpose and
Martel goes on to describe a life without them as a dry, yeast less factuality (22).
Martel shares his character, Pi s mentality about the stories derived from religion

Racial Inequality And Discrimination Of Child Welfare
I. Conceptualize Framework
Racial disproportionality and disparity in child welfare represents a complex phenomenon
emanating from historical theoretical socioeconomic and policy trends that has shaped this service
over the past several decades. There are many theories that have been proposed explain why racial
disproportionality and disparity exists in child welfare. It has been recognized the underlying roots
of racial disproportionality and disparity are complex and often coexists. Racial disproportionate
in child welfare will be the focus of this research. I will focus on is Racial Bias and Discrimination
of child welfare agencies, particularly the child protective services.
The literature suggest the one of the reason for over representation of minority(colored) children in
child welfare results from the different treatment of race or racial bias (attitudinal dimension) an
discrimination (behavioral dimension) (mortion, 1999; Roberts, 2002). This theory also suggests,
this treatment can be external or internal in the welfare system; however I will focus only on the
implication of internal welfare agencies (i.e. child protective specialist). Child protective specialists
culture and policies may lead to inequitable treatment of families of color. CPS workers may have
biases towards families of color which could affect the decision making at any point of the
investigation. This may not have occurred intentionally by the worker however due to institutional
racism which

Catcher In The Rye And The Kite Runner First Person Narrative
First person narrative expresses a point of view giving the greatest sense of identity of the
character. People are all different. Different colours, religions, different morals and beliefs, and
maybe most important different perspectives on the world. In both The Catcher in the Rye in The
Kite Runner the male protagonist tells the course of events from their perspective, and their role as
narrator has a significant impact on the novels In both The Catcher in the Rye, and The Kite
Runner, first person narration played a critical role in helping the reader know and understand the
main characters, Holden Caulfield Amir. From this perspective the reader gets to encounter the

Amir grew up with a sense of entitlement, and a loyal servant/friend in Hassan. After Hassan s
rape, Amir is stricken with grief and tries to console himself by saying that he is better than
Hassan because Hassan is a Hazara and has a cleft lip. It s here where the disgusting mindset of
Amir, a perspective that only the reader has the opportunity to understand. Hassan knew. He
knew I d seen everything in that alley, that I d stood there and done nothing. He knew I had
betrayed him and yet he was rescuing me once again, maybe for the last time. (Kite 9.29) This
quote perfectly encapsulates Amir s feelings of extreme grief for what he did to Hassan. This is a
recurring theme within the book, the reader sees the anxiety that Amir feels for betraying Hassan in
the alley that day, and from that day he does his best to repent for his unatoned sins.
Another importance of first person narrative within The Catcher in the Rye and The Kite Runner
is it allows the reader to empathize with the characters of the novels. In both novels the narrator
/main character is not the most likeable. Holden Caulfield is a very cynical and jaded narrator,
and finds the hypocrisy and ugliness of the world around him almost unbearable, through his
cynicism he tries to protect himself from the pain and disappointment of the adult world. Amir is
a complex character like all protagonist narrator s are. He isn t all bad, but he has a crippled

A Brief Note On Utility Based Automation System
Abstract: Utility based automation system is a scalable system that works independently based on
automated sensor inputs. Upon completion, it will be able to detect movement, temperature,
luminosity etc. and respond with corresponding output. The proposed system comprises of two
main parts: first, the web app, which can be used to control the hardware components such as the
movement of the doors and windows, the intensity of lights, control AC temperature, etc. Through
this, the users can locally or remotely control the security of their house and various other utilities.
Second part is the hardware interface module, which provides the appropriate interface to actuators
and sensors of the automationsystem. Opposed to many other home automation systems available,
this system is scalable in the way that many hardware interface modules can be added and
controlled using the web app. System will be able to support wide range of necessary residential
facilities such as security and power management.
System Architecture / System Design / System Model with description
The utility based Internet of things system that we will be building for the old people is heavily

Feminism Portrayed in Three Different Time Periods Essay
Feminism is something that has played with Literature since the beginning of time. Novels and
poems were a way for women to express themselves in ways that they never could at home. I chose
pieces of Literature from the three different time periods that we have covered. For the Romantic
Era, I chose the differences between Barbauld and Wollstonecraft. For the Victorian Era
, I chose
Mrs. Warren s Profession . For the 20th Century, I chose To Room 19 . Barbauld and Wollstonecraft
were both feminists. The differences between them vary from Wollstonecraft s devout Christianity,
and Barbauld s in your face feminist views. Wollstonecraft agreed with the views that women

I don t believe that what she did was wrong. I think she found a way for her family where there
wasn t one, and just because she wasn t society s idea of a lady means that she was not a good
person. To Room 19 is one of the more depressing ideas of feminism. This story shows a woman
who did everything right, but none of it mattered in the end. Susan loved her husband, and did
everything that he asked. Susan was the perfect housewife that did everything she was asked.
She never fought or yelled, even when her husband cheated on her. The downside to being the
perfect woman is you are not yourself. She held everything in to the point where she lost who
she was. She became a robot to society. Susan thought that by allowing her husband to do
whatever he wanted, she would find her own happiness. She lost herself when she held in all of
her feelings. Susan killed herself because she was miserable, and nobody noticed. The idea of
feminism in this story is that a perfect woman to society is a miserable woman. Society believed
through the ages that women were to be seen, and not heard. Clean, cook, and take care of the
children. Those were the tasks assigned to women, and to stray from that path was dishonorable.
Of all the stories, and movies that we have seen play out over the years there will never be true
equality among men and women. I chose these pieces to prove that views of women may change
slightly over the

Compare And Contrast The Use Of Lines In The Works Of...
3 1: Compare and contrast the use of lines in the works of Vincent van Gogh and Sol LeWitt.
Lines can express many things. Like Vincent Van Gogh artwork lines can express emotion, and
feelings of the artist at that time. Vincent Van Gogh The Starry Night is example of that. He used
loose and free drawing lines. The lines looked as they were out of control and free. Vincent Van
Goghused thick, bold strokes of the paint brushes to show a certain body of their own which is
known as impasto. It was consistent through he s artwork so it was like a signature he used. Since

3 2: Implied Line a line where no continues mark connects one point to another, but where the
connections is nonetheless visually suggested. Lines that create a sense of movement and direction.
Line of Sight one important kinds of implied line is a function of line of sigh, the direction the
figures in a given composition are looking. Titian artwork together the three separate horizontal
area of the piece; God the father above, the Virgin Mary in the middle and the Apostles below. The
lines that are create are simple, interlocking, symmetrical triangles. The lines are to serve to unify
the worlds of the divine and the mortal.
4 1: Why does Duccio s painting Annunciation of the Death of the Virgin lack linear perspective?
The right side of the bench appears too placed awkwardly to the right and crawling up and into
the wall. The angel arm appear to be reaching though the wall. Duccio Maesta uses foreshortening
in the beams to give the depth in the artwork though. In one point linear perspective lines are
drawn on the picture plane in a way that parallel lines receding to a single point on the viewer s
horizon which are consider vanishing points. Two point linear perspective a more dynamic
ccomposition. The two point linear perspective is where two or more vanishing point are in the
composition. So the biggest difference is that two points have more than two vanishing points and
creates a complex composition.

Inaccuracies In Agora
Agora
There may have been some controversies about Hypatia s spiritual beliefs, however, her devotion,
knowledge, and perseverance can be admired by all. This movie depicted some accurate historical
facts and events surrounding the life of Hypatia in Alexandria. However, there were some
inaccuracies of events that were discovered. For example, The Great Library of Alexandria did not
exist in during this time period. During the center portion of the movie, there was a dramatized
scene where the Christians were attacking the Agora while the Pagans were in the library
attempting to save the important books. This was not a factual depiction of this event. The Great
Library was actually built in 288 B.C. and destroyed in 48 B.C. The movie s setting is based
around the 4th century A.D. which is a clear indication that the library was no longer in existence.*
Another example of the film s inaccuracy is the account and event of Hypatia s death. In the film,
her death was the result of her knowledge and her ability to reason which labeled her as a witch.
In addition, her death did not have anything to do with her religious beliefs or the fact that she
was a woman. Hypatia s death was due to politics. In the film, a follower of Cyril threw a stone
at Orestes, the man was arrested, tortured and later killed. In revenge, the Christians became
outraged and agreed to kill the person who Orestes loved most which was Hypatia ( ). Therefore,

The Basel Capital Accord (Basel I) was adopted in 1988, and had two main objectives; *
Strengthen the soundness and the stability of the international banking system minimum capital
adequacy ratio by assessing the credit risk of the banks * Create a level playing field among
international banks Banks from different countries competing for the same loans would have to set
aside roughly the same amount of capital on the loans
Fallout of Basel I and emergence of Basel II
Basel I set the platform for maintaining the adequate capital cushion required by the banks in the
event of a default or grim situations. However the adequate capital (Tier I amp; Tier II) to be
maintained was solely based on the credit risk (on balance sheet, trading off balance sheet, non
trading balance sheet) assessment which was divided into 4 categories of Government Exposures
with OECD countries 0%, OECD banks and non OECD governments 20%, Mortgages 50%, Other
Exposures, retail and wholesale(SMEs) 100%
Though the main aim of formulating the Basel Norms was to ensure the optimal capital cushion
to be maintained required in the event of a crisis, the very introduction of Basel Accord, increased
the gap between economical and risk based capital and gave rise to regulatory capital arbitrage
(RCB). The drawback that a loan to a safe industrial country and that to a volatile developing

Correspondingly, in Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury notably brings out the hybrid character in Montag
during his transformation from a conformist to a non conformist. Assuming his role as a conformist
at the initial part of the story, Montag became a hybrid when he started to think, an action that was
strictly banned by the Government. However, his pursuit for knowledge and books resulted in the
eventual loss of his job, wife and friends , and himself being hunted down by the authorities.
Nevertheless, his depart from the society allowed him to join forces with the intellectuals to rebuild
and create a more equalitarian society where knowledge could exist, eliminating the initial societal
divide between intellectuals and ignorant that caused... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The future dystopian society was controlled by Skynet and robots and humans had to go into hiding
for safety. Superiority and inferiority due to unequal power distribution is evidently seen through
the cleanliness of their home environment. Robots resided in high rise buildings where advanced
technology ensured that everything was in neat and order. On the contrary, humans lived in
underground shelters where sanitation was at its worst state. Society of the past is much similar to
the current society where human race existed. As a robot, Guardian was supposed to stay in the
future society where its race was dominating, but it existed in society of the past, where there was
only acceptance of human identity. Due to cultural hegemony of the society where only human
race existed, Guardian was masked by a human skin to gain acceptance by the society. The fact that
Guardian was masked off from its original identity shows the initial rejection of its identity in
society of the past. In addition, Guardian continued to face rejection in the future society when it
lived differently from other robots. Unlike other robots that resided in clean environment, Guardian

Analysis Of Interstellar
Interstellar (2014), directed by Christopher Nolan and co written by Jonathan Nolan, is an epic
science fiction film that depicts extreme measures that one would pursue for love. The film
questions how far a man is willing to go in order to achieve safety for his family. Cooper
(Matthew McConaughey) exemplifies that without a proper plan, he is still willing to push his
own limits. Interstellar depicts the theme of a father s love through the music score, the plot
structure, the dialogue, the dynamic between man and machine, the setting, and the symbolism.
Hans Zimmer s unique music score in Interstellar brings out the intensity and drama to the
playing field and allows the audience to grip what Cooper actually does for his daughter Murph
(Mackenzie Foy). Some of Hans Zimmer s most important songs in Interstellar are Coward and
No Time for Caution. The emotional base for the song Coward is the cold and empty space of the
whole universe. This song portrays how scary and intense leaving planet Earthis, and Cooper s raw
love for his children for whom he did this whole mission for. Coward is introduced in the scenes
involving Dr. Mann (Matt Damon). Mann is viewed as a surprising enemy in Cooper s eyes after
he intentionally cracks his space helmet. As Cooper is grasping for air to survive, his willingness
to survive for his daughter allowed him to escape the situation with the help of Dr. Brand (Anne
Hathaway) and other scientists. Flashbacks between Cooper and

Ken Carter As A Leader In The Movie Coach Carter

Is Guantanamo Wrong
Is it ever acceptable to torture a man to the point of inflicting suicidal thoughts and actions on him?
This instance commonly takes place at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, or GTMO ( Gitmo ).
Only 6 of the 166 current detainees have been formally charged, which leaves the possibility that
over 96% of the prisoners there are innocent. In fact, more men have died at Guantanamo than have
ever been convicted. GTMO s existence is a controversial topic because of the treatment of
detainees, various Supreme Court rulings, and the lasting impact on people who are lucky enough

Discussion Of Honesty In Shakespeare s Othello
People can have anything they so desire, that is, if they are willing to sacrifice something in return.
William Shakespeare s play Othello raises the question as to whether honesty is truly the best

who is manipulative and dishonest, while under the guise of being an honest person, Honest Iago.
Desdemona, wife to Venetian Moor general, Othello, remains an honest person even while being
accused of being a deceitful liar. The benefits and drawbacks to both lying and speaking the truth

Effective Malaria Treatment Is Fraught With Challenges
Effective malaria treatment is fraught with challenges. Resistance is seemingly around the
corner for every previously superlative drug, while being deeply entrenched among those
medications that a few decades ago were vital to chemotherapy. For artemisinin, the first signs of
resistance were observed in a 2008 study of parasite clearance times following monotherapy with
artesunate. Clearance was slower among patients from the Eastern Thai Cambodian border than
that of patients from the Thai Myanmar border to the West (Dondorp et al., 2009). Though an
alarming fact on its own, when coupled with the proportional increase of such slow clearing
infections from 0.6% in 2001 to 20% in 2010 with rates approaching 42% in Cambodia one must
conclude that there is cause for alarm (Flannery et al., 2013). Resistance is not only emerging but
also spreading. Now more than ever we have need of new medicines as well as new approaches for
producing those medicines. The link to plant physiology among Plasmodiumspp. is basically
irrefutable and imperatively needs further investigating. By elucidating essential biosynthetic
pathways behind such compounds like abscisic acid, we can find hitherto unknown targets as well
as broaden our knowledge of the evasion mechanisms that are at the disposal of our protozoan foes.
Evasion is the primary response of malariain response to the immune systems efforts and this tactic
appears to have been extended to one of the most powerful drugs we have.

Terrorism Impact On Terrorism
1. Introduction
Twelve years have passed since four coordinated terrorist bomb attacks occurred in central London
on the 7th of July in 2005, conducted by four suicide bombers. Three of the attacks took place in
London Underground trains, on the Circle line near Aldgate, on the Piccadilly line near Russel
Square and at Edgware Road. The fourth bomb attack happened on a double decker bus in Tavistock
Square. The attacks happened during busy rush hour and the was one hour between the three
London Underground train attacks and the attack on the bus. Fifty two people were killed and
more than 700 were injured in the attacks, the bomb attack being the worst terror attack in the UK
since the 1988 Lockerbie bombing. This terrorist attack affected people severely physically, but
most of all, emotionally. The results of a telephone survey done within the general population of
London after the July 7th bombings, show that 55% of 1,010 participants felt their life was in
danger from terrorism and 86% of the participants thought that another attack on London was likely
in the near future (Greenberg, Rubin, Wessely, 2005).
In the past decade, there have been an increased amount of terrorist attacks in Europe, such as
terrorist attacks in Paris in November 2016 and in Manchester Arena in May 2017. Whenever a

If people were asked to make a mental picture of a painter working on his work of art, most of
them would describe it as a person with a big canvas on a stand in front of them painting the
subject which they are looking at. There were two major differences in Pollock s approach to his
art compared to other artists. The first major difference was that Jackson painted on the floor. The
second difference was that he used a stick instead of a brush. They would say that because they are

He did that because it let him approach his painting from all four sides. Pollock believed that
painting from all four sides would put him inside the painting. Many artist including Pollock
believed that the paintings had a life of their own and he would just discover what that life was.
So he felt that by painting on all four sides, it would help him see what that painting was going to
become. Jackson Pollock was not known for painting images, that s because he didn t use a brush
He believed the brush would interfere with the dripping of the paint. Instead Jackson used a stick to
pour paint onto the canvas. He would change the color, type of paint, and the thickness of the paint
as the work progressed. Therefore, the painting would reflect the movements of his arm and
body as he applied the paint. The activity of the painting would become part of the painting itself.
That style of painting is called action painting. Jackson Pollock was the first all over action
painted just like Cernuschi stated on page 67 in his book Meaning and Significance, He painted
no image, just action. It looked like Pollock almost imitated a dance. Pollock dripped paint all
over the canvas, but always had total control of where the splash of paint would be. That is how he
got his nickname Jack the

Capitalism And Socialism And Capitalism
For more than a century capitalism and socialism have been contending to be the best economic
system. Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the
means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community
as a whole. Capitalismis an economic and political system in which a country s trade and
industry that is controlled by private owners for profit. Capitalism is the heart and soul of
America s economy. A capitalist economy can take a person from rags to riches or from riches
to rags depending on the path that is taken by one s free will. This concept has made many
American citizens wonder if the capitalist path the path worth taking. There have been radicals
throughout the history of the U.S. who were not satisfied by the capitalist system as well as its
ideals. One of those radicals, Huey Long, a Democratic populist who was a senator of Louisiana
from 1932 1935, gave a speech entitled Share Our Wealth on February 23, 1934. The speech
supported the ideals of socialism by suggesting equal distribution of wealth throughout the nation.
Socialism may have its perks but capitalism is the best path to take since capitalism provides
society with more benefits through economic competition, prosperity, and a moral system that
promotes self interest. After World War I ended on November 11, 1918, American capitalism
started to change, especially when capitalism hit an economic climax during

My Father Lost My Life
In the Summer of 2012, my father lost his job. I was only 12, and I had little understanding as to
why my mother was so upset. My parents fought about my father s unemployment for days, leaving
me scared for the condition of my family. Eventually, my father went ahead and took out his life
insurance money, and I was left wondering why my father could not just find another job. Despite
the fact that my father had a side business, my familystruggled. I watched as the food in my house
diminished and common necessities seemed to disappear. For each week in the month, my
family only had fifty dollars to spend on all the food we needed plus toiletries. Being that I was
young, I had no comprehension as to why I could not have the newest shoes or iPhone. I envied
other kids that had a kitchen filled with snacks and food, and as a result I tried to never be at
home in my depressing kitchen. To say the least, I was angry with the world. I felt outraged that
I could not get simple things such as a chocolate bar and I pondered on how I use to be able to
pile stuff into a cart with no thought about the bill that would be put on my father s bank account. I
will admit, I was a spoiled child. I could get away with buying hundreds of dollars worth of stuff
and feel no remorse for my spending, but alas, the reality of the economy and my father s
unemployment hit me. There was a sense of hopelessness in my heart. I often wondered if my
parents marriage would survive, if we would have to skip a meal or two, if I would have enough
money for school supplies, and if college would even be an option for me. I was forced to
swallow my pride and accept that the easy life I once had was now non existent. At the age of
sixteen, my father still only had his side business. While this brought a source of income, I knew
it was not enough to support our family of three. I was at the age where I could legally work so I
sought out every job I could apply for and hoped that I could help my parents in whatever way I
could. Perhaps the most defining moment in my life was seeing how my motherand father both
sacrificed meals and necessities for me. This sent a sense of urgency throughout my being, an urge

The Influence of the Greeks and Romans on Architecture
Introduction
Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness. (Gehry, 2012). What
Frank Gehry was trying to say in simple terms was our culture cannot do without proper
appreciation of its classical roots and it goes without saying that the Romans and Greeks have
influenced art and architecture with its classical style in a number of different ways. Allow me
to give a definition for the word classical. Classical refers to any art or architecture modelled
after ancient Roman or Greek styles. In this essay I will be discussing what the word architecture
means in architecture, tracing its origins through Greek and Roman civilisation and comparing the
key similarities of these two different but similar influential cultures. I will also be referring to a
few examples of past and present examples of classical styles and scrutinizing from these examples
why and how the style of classical architecture has evolved and still stayed appropriate in our very
different contemporary cultures.
Classical architecture
(Classicalism in architecture has been in interpreted in a number of ways. Classical architecture is
a term used to refer to buildings from the classical period of European history, spanning the rise of
Greece into a major cultural power and ending with the collapse of the Roman Empire. Many

Salvador Dali Analysis
Salvador Dali s painting represents the scientific Freudian influence. Everything appears to be in
a dream like state because nothing makes logical sense. The idea behind the artwork is because
of melting cheese and bizarre dreams. It is stated that, the message Dali is trying to spread is
that life is fast paced and full of choices which sometimes produce unfavorable outcomes, but we
move on (Ukessays 1). Each clock represents a different time in life, whether it is his past, is
current state, or his future. The jagged cracks in the mountains symbolize the rough patches or
cracks that one must go through in life and the reflections in the water and platform show how
those mistakes reflect who we are. The dead tree shows that eventually we all will grow old and
die. Lastly, the white figure is Salvador Dali and how his life is slowly ticking away as well and
the eyes are shut because he is reflecting on it in a dream. The final artwork of Salvador Dali s
that exemplifies Surrealism is Portrait de Paul Eluard (fig. 3). This artwork was painted in 1929
is also an oil on canvas. It can be found in the Dali Theatre and Museum, Figueres, Spain. The
dimensions of Portrait de Paul Eluard (fig. 3) are 33 x 25 cm. The painting is of a man named

The frontier became the place where many races blamed others for their problems. Such as
when after the gold rush in California happened and many men started to pour in in hopes to
find riches and jobs (53). But when they arrived, there were no riches, and what little jobs were
available, immigrants from Asia had already taken it, such as the Chinese. This caused the men
who came looking for riches and jobs to become violent. In Wyoming Gunfight: An attack on

voice. She replied, Get ready, Armani! That s when I remembered, that today was the big day,
where I would go to school for my first time. In a hurry, I jumped out of my bed and put on my
clothes. I ve never seen my parents so happy before, and I was confused why. I wasn t quite sure
what schoolwas, but I knew it was a place where kids like me went and I will learn things. Thinking
about it, scared me on how my experience was gonna be for the first time in my life.
After I ate, gotten dressed and ate my breakfast, we went into the car, on our way to school. My
whole family came on the trip, eagerly in the car. Are you excited?! , my parents asked me, but I
did not know what to say, because I did not know what to be excited for, and that did not make me
feel any better.
We arrived at school, and it was called Bret Harte. The school looked huge from the outside, with a
long fence surrounding the school, and a glass front door. My legs felt shaky, and I was even more
paranoid! My family and I walked to room 28, waiting for me to take a step in my classroom. As I
walked in the classroom, my parents and siblings waited outside the door. As I stepped inside
the classroom, I met my teacher. Her name was Mrs. Berg, and she had bright red hair. Hi, nice
to meet you Armani! , surprised how she knew my name I said, Hi , in a shy voice, and she
giggled. Take a name tag on the desk,

Essay on Shakespeare s Macbeth and Kurosawa s Throne of Blood
Throne of Blood, the 1957 filmed translation of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, was made in
Japan, written in Japanese by Shinobu Hashimoto, Ryuzo Kikushima, Akira Kurosowa and Hideo
Oguni and directed by Akira Kurosawa. It has many times been called an adaptation of Macbeth,
however it is not. As storytellers have done since time began, Kurosawa took a story and made it
his own: translating a play text into another medium; a separate setting; a differing culture in a
completely different style and for a completely contrasting audience.
The film wasn t even intended to be an adaptation of Macbeth. When composing Throne of Blood,
the writing team involved did not even consult Shakespeare s script, as Stuart Galbraith details in ...

Shakespeare wrote Macbeth for James I of England, a Scottish King, who was an ancestor of
Banquo. Kurosawa wrote for a contemporary audience of 1950 s Japan, setting his story in a
culture that was known to them, as Shakespeare had done. Similar to the kabuki historical drama
or jidai mono, Throne of Blood bases its story around the warriors and noblemen of the feudal
Japan, a worthy equivalent to Shakespeare s Scottish soldiers and aristocracy of the early middle
ages.
In Akira Kurosawa and Intertextual Cinema, James Goodwin says that Kurosawa `demonstrates
a preference for eras of disruption in samurai culture, of massive social upheaval, or of civil war.
For Throne of Blood he had in mind the Sengoko period of civil wars (1467 1568) when there
were frequent incidents of gekokujo, the overthrow of a superior by his own retainers. Kurosawa
uses his setting in a similar way to that of Shakespeare, who uses various examples of imagery
concerning the idea of imbalance: of order and disorder. In Act Two, Scene Four of Macbeth he
uses many hints to tell his audience how chaotic things have become for his characters.

Voter Id Laws Examples
We are currently in the midst of a historical presidential election. People are rallying in mass
numbers behind their presidential candidates, and come election time, they hope to have their
candidate s supporter s turnout to vote. However, other forces such as voter ID laws may already
be hindering their candidate chances by leading to a decrease in voter turnout rates. Thus,
historically speaking, voter ID laws have been prevented and appealed because of a specific
provision in the VotingRight Act of 1965. However, in 2013 the United States Supreme Court
repealed Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act. This specific provision laid out how any changes a
states makes to their voting laws, must be accepted and passed by the federal government in... Show

In addition to that, understanding how voter ID laws may impact election results, will in return,
contribute to the efforts that aim to understand the agenda behind the recent and rapid spread of
such laws. Thus, if my results are what I think they will be then voter ID laws will be known for
what they really are, an attempt at voter oppression. Moreover, there certainly are limitations to this
research proposal. For instance, while this research should present some insight into the impact of
voter ID laws, the fact remains that there is a limited number of election results that could
demonstrate the true range of impact that voter ID laws have on voter turnout rates. Therefore,
future research will be able to benefit from the increased volume of data on election results, and in
return perhaps be able to build on the results of this study. In addition to that, since I have a short
time window for this project, certain variables that might influence and also be contributing to
lower voter turnouts will be left

Owen, S Poetry In Wilfred Owen s Anti-Vietnam War Poetry
World War One (1914 1918) was a war involving many countries, Wilfred Owen was one of the
soldiers fighting for the UK however he was completely unaware of the outcome the war would
lead too. Owen strongly disagreed with the harsh reality of the war leading to him writing anti war
poetry. Likewise the anti Vietnamwar poetrywas strongly anti war, resulting in the poetry being
highly critical of the war. Both wars were extremely criticized and lead to outrage by many as
the majority saw little to no point of either wars. From this poetry it has allowed the public to see
the real harshness behind the glamourized version advertised by the government. The poetry not
only acts as a clear insight into the war but it also gave the public something to really agree with
causing them to be read or listened to again and again. It is due to the great writing style of
Wilfred Owen and his use of poetic devices such as metaphors and personification that gives it an
even deeper meaning.
Owens main concern behind his poetry was to reveal the horrors of war and reveal the harsh
reality that is always covered up by the Government. He successfully did this through every piece
of poetry he wrote revealing yet another piece of the hidden truth. Once things like Owens poetry
arose gradually more people thought the war was futile which is exactly what he expressed in his
poem futility. The poem begins in panic with the soldiers quickly trying to save a soldiers live, if
anything might rouse him

Hybridity in Arudhati Roy s the God of Small Things
Hybridity in Arudhati Roy s The God of Small Things Postcolonialism deals with the effects of
colonization on cultures and societies. As originally used by historians after the Second World
War in terms such as the post colonial state, post colonial had a clearly chronological meaning,
designating the post independence period. However, from the late 1970s the term has been used
by literary critics to discuss the various cultural effects of colonization. The term has been widely
used to signfy the political, linguistic and cultural experience of societies that were former
European colonies. In the present age we can say without any shadow of doubt that post
colonialism has been primarily concerned to examine the processes and effects... Show more content

It is a story about the childhood experiences of a pair of fraternal twins who become victims of
circumstance. The book is a description of how the small things in life build up, translate into
people s behavior and affect their lives. The story is set in the small town of Ayemenem in the
Kerala province, southwest India. The main part of the plot takes place in 1969, a time when
the caste system in India was still very strongly imbedded. It is also the time of increased
awareness around the world and a peak of communist ideology and influence. India is a very
complex society with various cultural and religious habits and beliefs. Hindus, Buddhists,
Christians and Muslims share the same space. Society is divided not only by the very strict caste
system but also by class consciousness. There are a number of languages spoken in India, but the
higher classes make a point of speaking English, sending their sons to study in England and
adopting certain English habits.Kerala, where the story is set itself has a complex social setup with
Hindus, Muslims and Christians having lifestyle and traditions different from each other. It also
has a considerably larger number of Christian population compared to other parts of India,
predominantly Saint Thomas Christians. The God of Small Things is a book about India, not
India as seen by the western world or by western standards. This is a story about the real India,
beautifully written by one of its own nationals.

Across The World, There Are Many Global Health Issues Which
Across the world, there are many global health issues which are being played out in which society
faces. Whether it be a developing issue or one that has been plaguing society for an amount of
time, as the world becomes a more globalized entity, many are beginning to realize that while we
may face challenges individual to more local levels, there are just as many challenges that we must
take on together. Climate change, and its effect upon human health, is one of these uniting
challenges. While climatechanges have occurred throughout the course of planet Earth s history, the
world is now witnessing a dramatic increase in the amount of negative impacts caused by changes
in our climate. At an alarming rate, these changes are occurring and... Show more content on

For the sake of this paper, there will be two different types of impacts of climate change on human
health: physical impact and mental impact. Now, the majority of the effects of climate change are
indeed physical impacts, for this includes problems such as severe weather events, raising
temperatures, and an increase in numerous disease across the globe. These physical impacts are
what many of the sources in regards to the topic mainly focus on. A few, however, do take time to
mention the importance of mental health in regards to climate change. In often cases, mental
health can be a result of physical impacts, but as the issue of global climate change becomes
progressively more crucial, that is not always the case. Both physical and mental impacts can have
impacts on how society, on all levels, functions, and if we are not careful to take appropriate action,
society may begin to crumble, at least only slightly. It is now coming to light that both the physical
and mental impacts are important to be addressed when discussing climate change action.
What remains important, is that even though climate change is, or may, effecting the health of us
all in some way, and it is a global issue, that each region of the world in impacted differently. This
means that while it

My Education
I am grateful to my parents because they made me understand that my education is the most
valuable thing I could ever have. My parents sacrificed many things for us to have a better life,
and I won t let them down. I was born in Zinapecuaro Michoacan, when I was seven years old I
came to Salinas California with all my family. I remembered when I was a child my dad used to
come every year to work on the fields. Then, he would go back each year for a short period of
time, and I was waiting for him with happiness. As I grew up I realized that my parents wanted
me to have a better life which they never had. Because my parents worked all day to bring food
to our table, my brothers and I didn t spent too much time with them like we would like. My
childhood was not easy at all, but I had the most amazing parents. Also, having their love made the
happiest girl in world because that was enough for me.
When I was a little girl I dreamed to be a doctor, but I changed my mind. Since high school I
wanted to join the military, but I could not because of my weight. So, in my second semester
during college; I decided to join the army to have a professional career and at the same time took
a break for college. For all my experiences that have happened to me; I can only say that joining
the Army was the best decision I have taken. In addition, I learned to live by the army values
which are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. These values

Rites Of Passage In The Glass Castle
As we grow older, we develop by passing through the rites of passages. These rites are commonly
portrayed in literary works and in movies. An example of a work that contains the rites of passage
would be The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls. This book is a memoir about her life as a child
with parents who could never settle down. She worked herself from the bottom up, and continues to
strive as a published author and journalist. Although The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls, contains
many rites of passage, the three most prominent would be loss, risk taking, and achieving a goal. In
her memoir, Jeannette struggled with loss because of her familys lifestyle. As Jeanette put it, on
page 19, We were always doing the skedaddle . . . The Walls constantly moved to avoid police
and the idea of settling down. When moving, the family usually moved to remote locations,
working odd jobs for money. Another example of of loss in Jeannette s life is when her parents
threw her cat out of the car. Her mother claimed, Cat s don t like travel, on page 18. Jeannette
said, [My father] stopped the car, grabbed Quixote by the scruff of the neck, and tossed him out
the window. Her father sped up the car and drove off, leaving the cat in the dust behind them. In
addition to the lossof her cat, Jeannette s grandmother passed away. Although, Jeannette was not
very close to her grandmother, she mourned the loss of her family member. Although loss is
prominent in Jeannette s life,

The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock Analysis
T.S. Eliot was born in 1888 and died in 1965. Eliot set new directions in poetry. His criticism
provided new judgements to guide assessments of poetry. In Eliot s critical work on poets and
poetry, he observed that the modern inclination is to put up with some degree of incoherence. So
long as the verse sounds well and presents striking and melodious imagery. In an age like ours
lacking common standards poets need to remind themselves that it is not sufficient to rely upon
those gifts, which are native to them, and which they exercise with ease. That good poetrymust
exhibit several qualities in proportion of which one is good sense. (Eliot) Some other famous
quotes are Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. (Eliot) and finally Human kind
cannot bear much reality. (Eliot)
Eliot s poem The love song of J. Alfred Prufrock is a dramatic monologue. I think the poem s
central themes include Prufrock s inability to act and his feelings of alienation. I think in the
beginning
T.S. Eliot may have chosen to present this epigraph in Italian because he wanted to keep his poem
at a high intellectual level and assumed many of his readers would know Italian. The epigraph
should alert to readers this poems sophistication, and should expect subtle literary devices and
scholarly allusions. The first two lines feelings are of a lovely romantic evening. Then line 3
with the image of a sick etherized patient, dramatically alters it. The feelings the evening evokes
are no longer lovely and romantic but dark and ominous. The metaphor developed in this stanza
is a cat compared to smoke. Also compared to that of an evening etherized in line 3 they are alike
because they both imply slow motion or paralysis. The effect of juxtaposing the actions of
taking of a toast and tea and having time for visions and revisions is interesting since eating is a
mundane activity, while having visions is a far more elevated one. The intellectual work of
visions is trivialized by being placed on the same level as taking of a toast and tea. I think the
character is fastidiously dressed and has thinning hair. Skinny arms and legs also. Indecisive and
disillusioned. He lacks energy to pursue his goals and dreams.

Interracial Jim Crow Laws
The most prevalent laws to appear not just in the South but, most of the United States dealt with
marriage, with a total of sixteen states outlawing the act. Interracial marriage was an unforgiving
crime, they were considered null and void, and could be punished by a fine and up to ten years in
jail. The laws wording varied from state to state, not just outlawing marriagebetween white and
black but also, between whites and almost any nonwhite race. One eighth of any nonwhite blood
could define a person as not white and had the ability to make marriages void in many states. The
most famous interracial marriage of this time was Mildred and Richard Loving of Virginia.

Even though the South s backwardness was on display for the entire country to see, there were
still those who refused to give up their style of life. African Americans of southern states
continued during this violent time to demand equal and fair treatment. Jim Crow laws defined
them as second class citizens, required them to continue to be subservient to whites. They were
unable to receive proper health care, they had to live in certain sections of town, and were forced
to withstand abuse of all nature without protection from law enforcement. Through these times
though, civil rights groups, such as the NAACP and movements continued to face the dangers of
a hostile Southern population. In their way stood hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan and the
White Citizens Council, ready to fight for their beliefs. Jim Crow laws were held up at not only
the state levels but, also, the federal government. Even through adversity, the call for real freedom
was heard. Many African American and even whites were inspired by great leaders such as Martin
Luther King, Jr. and little Linda Brown. The courage of the African American community during
Jim Crow can be summed up by Harper Lee, Real courage is...when you know you re licked before
you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter

China Airlines Flight 611 Research Paper
China Airlines flight 611 was a regularly scheduled flight from Taiwan International Airport to
Hong Kong International Airport. The Boeing 747 flight took off on schedule and departed over
the Taiwan Strait between China mainland and the island of Taiwan. Around 20 minutes into the
flight the airplane obliterated without warning and crashed into the Taiwan Strait. There were no
warning signs to the disaster, and this made discovering the cause very difficult. Engineers began
recovering parts of the plane to begin analyzing what caused the disaster. What they did not know
is that the reason for the disaster, began twenty two years before in Hong Kong. Until one day,
when they discovered a piece on the lower part of the tail, that led... Show more content on

It was determined that ballistic trajectory analysis was the next method to try and solve the
mystery. Ballistic trajectory analysis is a computer program that uses factors of the atmosphere
and the plane to trace where each object landed. This system is based on the fact that the part
that breaks off first will land in the water first. The engineers used the GPS locations of each of
the pieces along with the weight, speed, direction, ocean currents, and wind to determine which
part of the plane broke off and therefore landed first. After performing this analysis, it was
concluded that the tail end of the plane broke off first, and after they discovered this, the focus
of the investigation focused to the tail. Then one day while scanning over the wreckage pieces,
metallurgist Frank Zakar noticed a certain piece that had a different looking crack than all of the
other pieces. When an airplane breaks in midair, many smaller pieces break off just because of
the sudden force of the air acting on it, this is called an overload fracture. Overload fractures
break at an angle, and up to this point all the pieces of metal that had been found had this
characteristic. The new piece that was found did not have this type of character at all. The
engineers examined this piece and found that it had very smooth cracking, very typical of metal
fatigue. Metal

Culture Influence On American Culture And Violence
A focus on culture can greatly inform the study of violence. Culture can be defined as the norms
within a community, and a community really could mean anything gender, location, ethnicity,
religion, sexuality, to name a few. This essay will consist of the different ways culture can inform,
and help grasp a more advanced understanding of violencein society. The cultureof people living in
poverty, of certain religions and of the hip hop community can be great examples of how culture
can inform the study of violence.
The idea of culture linking with violence first sparked in the 1930 s, when American theorists
explained the fact that a lot of the violence and crime in America was based around financially
disadvantaged areas. (Annabel, T ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Argumentative Essay On Nuclear Energy Nuclear energy has been used since 1895 to create weapons that could destroy men by the millions. Scientists later transformed this destructive weapon into a new form of usable, renewable energy. Nuclear energy is energy created by harnessing the energy produced by the nuclear reactions that take place inside the nucleus of the UraniumIsotope 235, ( Nuclear Energy ). Nuclear energy is one attempt to decrease the rate at which nonrenewable fossil fuels are being consumed. Some believe nuclear energy to be an environmentally friendly and self sustaining way to produce energy; however, there are a countless number of social and economically risks to consider; ultimately, the detrimental effects power plant leaks and explosions have on the human body, the cost it takes to produce the plants, and the production of nuclear waste, should be enough to persuade one to turn away from using nuclear energy as a source of power. The fear of a nuclear power plants is reasonable, considering there were thirty three accidents between the 1950 s and early 2000 s, (McInnes, Colin). Multiple incidents jeopardized the health of employees and near by citizens. Six of these incidents happened in the United States, five in Japan, and three in the United Kingdom and Russia. Thirty five liters of highly enriched Uranium solution leaked during transfer, in the United Kingdom; more than 100 workers were exposed to one hundred and fifty millirems of radiation a day in Japan; reactors in ... Key Stakeholders In order to make a more accurate assessment of what you will need in your new HR system it is important that you involve key stakeholders of the company in the decision making process. The following is a list of the key stakeholders that should be included in the decision making process: CEO Dr. Michael Riordan is the boss of the entire company and the person behind making the corporate strategies. He is primarily concerned with the performances of the company as well as the services the company is providing to the customers and employees. So integrating a new HR system directly involves him because it involves the performance and service of the company.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way of successfully gathering information is by building a prototype or model of the system, so that users can test or get an idea of what the finished product will be like. With this they can determine issues, problems, or inconsistency with the system. Another important part of gathering information is organizing it so that it can be understood and put to proper use. I propose categorizing the requirements into functional requirements, operational requirements, technical requirements, and transitional requirements. The functional requirements define how the user thinks the system is functioning overall, the operational requirements define what background processes need to be executed in order for the system to work optimally over a period of time, the technical requirements define what technical issues that must be addressed in order to successfully implement the system, and the transitional requirements define the processes or steps needed to implement the system smoothly and successfully. ( Mind Tools , 2012). 1.4. Project Scope The project scope statement is a key element in any new project. It is used to outline the results that the project will produce and the terms and conditions under which the work will be performed. The head of most insects contains a set of antennas used for sensing and a mandible used for crushing or cutting food. The second section of the insect or the thorax of the insect contains all of the six legs and can contain the wings of some insects, it is a key part of the insects movements. Insects are the only the only known arthropods which can possibly have wings. The Harmful insect which I have chosen is the Green Peach Aphid. KINGDOM: Animalia PHYLUM: Arthropoda Class: Insecta ORDER: Hemiptera FAMILY: Aphididae. The Green Peach Aphid starts from an egg and grows up morphs into a foundress. The foundress becomes an asexual female aphid with or without wings. The aphid forms an asexual female which does not need to fertilize to produce offspring and makes either a sexual male or a sexual female which fertilize the eggs. Most types of aphid lay their eggs either in the plant or on the plant and proceed to kill the plant when they emerge. These aphids are harmful because can also transmit hundreds diseases and/or viruses to the plants. When they lay their eggs in the plant it can kill the plant when they emerge causing losses by reproduction. The most direct cause of harm is caused when the aphids consume the sugars straight out of the plant. • 6. Ancient Druids Very little is known about the ancient druids. They left no written accounts of themselves, and the only evidence is a few descriptions left by Greek, Roman, and various scattered authors and artists, as well as stories created by later medieval Irish writers [4] Druids concern themselves with divine affairs, managing public and private sacrifices and interpreting matters of religion. [1] A great number of young men gather about them to learn and hold them in great honor. In fact, it is they who decide in almost all disputes, public and private; and if any crime has been committed, or murder done, or there is any dispute about succession or boundaries, they also decide it, determining rewards and penalties: if any person or people does not abide by their decision, they ban such from sacrifice, which is their heaviest penalty. Comparing Apocalypse Now and Saving Private Ryan Comparing Apocalypse Now and Saving Private Ryan Desai Abdul Razzaaq HIST 1302 American History IIMr. Daniel Bush Central Texas College January 4, 2010 The films Saving Private Ryan and Apocalypse Now were both critically acclaimed films depicting the dramas of war. They both had very realistic qualities and great cinematic values. The films had two great Hollywood directors in, Steven Spielberg directing Saving Private Ryan and Francis F. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The famous Hollywood director, Steven Spielberg, through his 1998 blockbuster film Saving Private Ryan, gave us a glimpse into the realities of war, in particular, World War II s D day invasion and the immediate aftermath, as it played out in the European theater. The story opens with a prologue, in which a veteran brings his family to the American cemetery at Normandy, and in a flashback he joins Captain John Miller, played by Tom Hanks, and GIs in a landing craft making the June 6, 1944 approach to Omaha Beach to face devastating German artillery fire. This mass slaughter of American soldiers is depicted in a compelling, unforgettable 24 minute sequence. Afterwards, he is then given a new mission, to find and extract Private James Francis Ryan, played by Matt Damon, one of four brothers, the other three of whom have been killed in action within days of each other. Because Private Ryan was the last remaining son of a grieving mother, Washington D.C. has ordered his extraction and his return home. Again in contrast to Apocalypse Now , whereas the taking of one man s life was the goal, in Saving Private Ryan , the goal was the saving of one man s life. • 8. Ruined Me Changes Yes, you read the title correctly. Yoga has ruined my life. It has changed and shifted me from the inside out. The way I think, speak, and even the way I eat and breathe is totally different because of yoga. Yoga has changed just about everything about me, but it has ruined me in three big ways: 1. Response versus Reaction There was a time in my life that I didn t really think about things. I didn t think before I spoke. I didn t think before I made big decisions, like what colleges to apply for. I didn t really question anything either. I was OK with whatever life path I was on. I was OK with the mean boys I dated and the clothes I wore. I rarely ever took a moment to wonder if the activities and people I was engaging were harmful or careless. ... Yoga kicked and scratched and bruised my ego. It put me in my place on more than on occasion and force fed me some humble pie. It made me care about other people. Yoga led me to Kula for Karma, and then I realized how important seva and volunteering are. Now I can t imagine a life without them. As mentioned earlier, it made me think before I spoke... And in those thoughts, other people s feelings and circumstances came up. I found myself forgiving people and praying for people rather than threatening people and pulling hair. Now I want other people to feel good. I don t lie.... As much. I don t think I m manipulative anymore (but my mom will have to confirm that). Life Of Pi And Religion In his interview with Jennie Renton, author Yann Martel says that the subtext of his novel Life of Pi can be summarized in three lines: life is a story, you can choose your story, and a story with God is a better story. In his novel, Martel uses the concepts of religion and fiction in a way that is almost interchangeable. Through the character and beliefs of Pi, he shares the idea that all religions contain stories and a reason for our existence, and that what makes this good is the reassurances it provides in our lives. Religions make life meaningful and gives us purpose and Martel goes on to describe a life without them as a dry, yeast less factuality (22). • 10. Racial Inequality And Discrimination Of Child Welfare I. Conceptualize Framework Racial disproportionality and disparity in child welfare represents a complex phenomenon emanating from historical theoretical socioeconomic and policy trends that has shaped this service over the past several decades. There are many theories that have been proposed explain why racial disproportionality and disparity exists in child welfare. It has been recognized the underlying roots of racial disproportionality and disparity are complex and often coexists. Racial disproportionate in child welfare will be the focus of this research. I will focus on is Racial Bias and Discrimination of child welfare agencies, particularly the child protective services. The literature suggest the one of the reason for over representation of minority(colored) children in child welfare results from the different treatment of race or racial bias (attitudinal dimension) an discrimination (behavioral dimension) (mortion, 1999; Roberts, 2002). This theory also suggests, this treatment can be external or internal in the welfare system; however I will focus only on the implication of internal welfare agencies (i.e. child protective specialist). Child protective specialists culture and policies may lead to inequitable treatment of families of color. CPS workers may have biases towards families of color which could affect the decision making at any point of the investigation. This may not have occurred intentionally by the worker however due to institutional racism which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is a recurring theme within the book, the reader sees the anxiety that Amir feels for betraying Hassan in the alley that day, and from that day he does his best to repent for his unatoned sins. Another importance of first person narrative within The Catcher in the Rye and The Kite Runner is it allows the reader to empathize with the characters of the novels. In both novels the narrator /main character is not the most likeable. Holden Caulfield is a very cynical and jaded narrator, and finds the hypocrisy and ugliness of the world around him almost unbearable, through his cynicism he tries to protect himself from the pain and disappointment of the adult world. • 12. A Brief Note On Utility Based Automation System Abstract: Utility based automation system is a scalable system that works independently based on automated sensor inputs. Upon completion, it will be able to detect movement, temperature, luminosity etc. and respond with corresponding output. The proposed system comprises of two main parts: first, the web app, which can be used to control the hardware components such as the movement of the doors and windows, the intensity of lights, control AC temperature, etc. Through this, the users can locally or remotely control the security of their house and various other utilities. Second part is the hardware interface module, which provides the appropriate interface to actuators and sensors of the automationsystem. Opposed to many other home automation systems available, this system is scalable in the way that many hardware interface modules can be added and controlled using the web app. System will be able to support wide range of necessary residential facilities such as security and power management. System Architecture / System Design / System Model with description The utility based Internet of things system that we will be building for the old people is heavily based on a prototyping board called the Arduino. Most sensor s ( mentioned below ) will be interfaced with the Arduino Mega 2560 and a set of wires and breadboard. The arduino will be coded in Arduino C or Javascript using the Johnny Five module. This will allow us to burn all the logic of the sensors and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Novels and poems were a way for women to express themselves in ways that they never could at home. I chose pieces of Literature from the three different time periods that we have covered. For the Romantic Era, I chose the differences between Barbauld and Wollstonecraft. For the Victorian Era , I chose Mrs. Warren s Profession . For the 20th Century, I chose To Room 19 . I don t believe that what she did was wrong. I think she found a way for her family where there wasn t one, and just because she wasn t society s idea of a lady means that she was not a good person. To Room 19 is one of the more depressing ideas of feminism. This story shows a woman who did everything right, but none of it mattered in the end. Susan loved her husband, and did everything that he asked. Susan was the perfect housewife that did everything she was asked. She never fought or yelled, even when her husband cheated on her. The downside to being the perfect woman is you are not yourself. She held everything in to the point where she lost who she was. She became a robot to society. Susan thought that by allowing her husband to do whatever he wanted, she would find her own happiness. She lost herself when she held in all of her feelings. Susan killed herself because she was miserable, and nobody noticed. The idea of feminism in this story is that a perfect woman to society is a miserable woman. Society believed through the ages that women were to be seen, and not heard. Clean, cook, and take care of the children. Those were the tasks assigned to women, and to stray from that path was dishonorable. Of all the stories, and movies that we have seen play out over the years there will never be true equality among men and women. I chose these pieces to prove that views of women may change slightly over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like Vincent Van Gogh artwork lines can express emotion, and feelings of the artist at that time. Vincent Van Gogh The Starry Night is example of that. He used loose and free drawing lines. The lines looked as they were out of control and free. Vincent Van Goghused thick, bold strokes of the paint brushes to show a certain body of their own which is known as impasto. The right side of the bench appears too placed awkwardly to the right and crawling up and into the wall. The angel arm appear to be reaching though the wall. Duccio Maesta uses foreshortening in the beams to give the depth in the artwork though. This movie depicted some accurate historical facts and events surrounding the life of Hypatia in Alexandria. However, there were some inaccuracies of events that were discovered. For example, The Great Library of Alexandria did not exist in during this time period. During the center portion of the movie, there was a dramatized scene where the Christians were attacking the Agora while the Pagans were in the library attempting to save the important books. This was not a factual depiction of this event. The Great Library was actually built in 288 B.C. and destroyed in 48 B.C. The movie s setting is based around the 4th century A.D. which is a clear indication that the library was no longer in existence.* Another example of the film s inaccuracy is the account and event of Hypatia s death. In the film, her death was the result of her knowledge and her ability to reason which labeled her as a witch. In addition, her death did not have anything to do with her religious beliefs or the fact that she was a woman. Hypatia s death was due to politics. In the film, a follower of Cyril threw a stone at Orestes, the man was arrested, tortured and later killed. Analysis Of Interstellar Interstellar (2014), directed by Christopher Nolan and co written by Jonathan Nolan, is an epic science fiction film that depicts extreme measures that one would pursue for love. The film questions how far a man is willing to go in order to achieve safety for his family. Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) exemplifies that without a proper plan, he is still willing to push his own limits. Interstellar depicts the theme of a father s love through the music score, the plot structure, the dialogue, the dynamic between man and machine, the setting, and the symbolism. Hans Zimmer s unique music score in Interstellar brings out the intensity and drama to the playing field and allows the audience to grip what Cooper actually does for his daughter Murph (Mackenzie Foy). Clearance was slower among patients from the Eastern Thai Cambodian border than that of patients from the Thai Myanmar border to the West (Dondorp et al., 2009). Though an alarming fact on its own, when coupled with the proportional increase of such slow clearing infections from 0.6% in 2001 to 20% in 2010 with rates approaching 42% in Cambodia one must conclude that there is cause for alarm (Flannery et al., 2013). Introduction Twelve years have passed since four coordinated terrorist bomb attacks occurred in central London on the 7th of July in 2005, conducted by four suicide bombers. Three of the attacks took place in London Underground trains, on the Circle line near Aldgate, on the Piccadilly line near Russel Square and at Edgware Road. The fourth bomb attack happened on a double decker bus in Tavistock Square. The attacks happened during busy rush hour and the was one hour between the three London Underground train attacks and the attack on the bus. Fifty two people were killed and more than 700 were injured in the attacks, the bomb attack being the worst terror attack in the UK since the 1988 Lockerbie bombing. This terrorist attack affected people severely physically, but most of all, emotionally. The results of a telephone survey done within the general population of London after the July 7th bombings, show that 55% of 1,010 participants felt their life was in danger from terrorism and 86% of the participants thought that another attack on London was likely in the near future (Greenberg, Rubin, Wessely, 2005). In the past decade, there have been an increased amount of terrorist attacks in Europe, such as terrorist attacks in Paris in November 2016 and in Manchester Arena in May 2017. Whenever a terrorist attack happens in Europe, it is widely reported on various media outlets and the extensive media network of present day allows news to spread quickly. Consequently, even ... • 33. Essay Jackson Pollock If people were asked to make a mental picture of a painter working on his work of art, most of them would describe it as a person with a big canvas on a stand in front of them painting the subject which they are looking at. There were two major differences in Pollock s approach to his art compared to other artists. The first major difference was that Jackson painted on the floor. The second difference was that he used a stick instead of a brush. They would say that because they are all not exposed to different types and styles of painting. For those people who do not know much about art wouldn t know the meaning of the painting or how it was created. He did that because it let him approach his painting from all four sides. Pollock believed that painting from all four sides would put him inside the painting. Many artist including Pollock believed that the paintings had a life of their own and he would just discover what that life was. So he felt that by painting on all four sides, it would help him see what that painting was going to become. Jackson Pollock was not known for painting images, that s because he didn t use a brush He believed the brush would interfere with the dripping of the paint. Instead Jackson used a stick to pour paint onto the canvas. He would change the color, type of paint, and the thickness of the paint as the work progressed. Therefore, the painting would reflect the movements of his arm and body as he applied the paint. The activity of the painting would become part of the painting itself. That style of painting is called action painting. Jackson Pollock was the first all over action painted just like Cernuschi stated on page 67 in his book Meaning and Significance, He painted no image, just action. It looked like Pollock almost imitated a dance. Pollock dripped paint all over the canvas, but always had total control of where the splash of paint would be. Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. Capitalismis an economic and political system in which a country s trade and industry that is controlled by private owners for profit. Capitalism is the heart and soul of America s economy. A capitalist economy can take a person from rags to riches or from riches to rags depending on the path that is taken by one s free will. This concept has made many American citizens wonder if the capitalist path the path worth taking. There have been radicals throughout the history of the U.S. who were not satisfied by the capitalist system as well as its ideals. One of those radicals, Huey Long, a Democratic populist who was a senator of Louisiana from 1932 1935, gave a speech entitled Share Our Wealth on February 23, 1934. The speech supported the ideals of socialism by suggesting equal distribution of wealth throughout the nation. Socialism may have its perks but capitalism is the best path to take since capitalism provides society with more benefits through economic competition, prosperity, and a moral system that promotes self interest. • 35. My Father Lost My Life In the Summer of 2012, my father lost his job. I was only 12, and I had little understanding as to why my mother was so upset. My parents fought about my father s unemployment for days, leaving me scared for the condition of my family. Eventually, my father went ahead and took out his life insurance money, and I was left wondering why my father could not just find another job. Despite the fact that my father had a side business, my familystruggled. I watched as the food in my house diminished and common necessities seemed to disappear. For each week in the month, my family only had fifty dollars to spend on all the food we needed plus toiletries. Being that I was young, I had no comprehension as to why I could not have the newest shoes or iPhone. I envied other kids that had a kitchen filled with snacks and food, and as a result I tried to never be at home in my depressing kitchen. To say the least, I was angry with the world. I felt outraged that I could not get simple things such as a chocolate bar and I pondered on how I use to be able to pile stuff into a cart with no thought about the bill that would be put on my father s bank account. I will admit, I was a spoiled child. I could get away with buying hundreds of dollars worth of stuff and feel no remorse for my spending, but alas, the reality of the economy and my father s unemployment hit me. There was a sense of hopelessness in my heart. I often wondered if my parents marriage would survive, if we would have to skip a meal or two, if I would have enough money for school supplies, and if college would even be an option for me. I was forced to swallow my pride and accept that the easy life I once had was now non existent. At the age of sixteen, my father still only had his side business. While this brought a source of income, I knew it was not enough to support our family of three. I was at the age where I could legally work so I sought out every job I could apply for and hoped that I could help my parents in whatever way I could. Perhaps the most defining moment in my life was seeing how my motherand father both sacrificed meals and necessities for me. • 36. The Influence of the Greeks and Romans on Architecture Introduction Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness. (Gehry, 2012). What Frank Gehry was trying to say in simple terms was our culture cannot do without proper appreciation of its classical roots and it goes without saying that the Romans and Greeks have influenced art and architecture with its classical style in a number of different ways. Allow me to give a definition for the word classical. Classical refers to any art or architecture modelled after ancient Roman or Greek styles. In this essay I will be discussing what the word architecture means in architecture, tracing its origins through Greek and Roman civilisation and comparing the key similarities of these two different but similar influential cultures. I will also be referring to a few examples of past and present examples of classical styles and scrutinizing from these examples why and how the style of classical architecture has evolved and still stayed appropriate in our very different contemporary cultures. Classical architecture (Classicalism in architecture has been in interpreted in a number of ways. Classical architecture is a term used to refer to buildings from the classical period of European history, spanning the rise of Greece into a major cultural power and ending with the collapse of the Roman Empire. Allende uses various forms of literary techniques to capture important themes within the storyline. In the text, Allende expresses the way men dominate women as the female characters of the story are limited to make graver decisions past relying on their men. Though these women naturally seek approval from men this does not handicap them from stepping outside their shadow as powerful women with the willingness to endure many obstacles. There is something very real and very supernatural in Allende s novel. Allende portrays the world in which the everyday and the supernatural coexist. expresses Stephen H. Hart in his article. The idea behind the artwork is because of melting cheese and bizarre dreams. It is stated that, the message Dali is trying to spread is that life is fast paced and full of choices which sometimes produce unfavorable outcomes, but we move on (Ukessays 1). Each clock represents a different time in life, whether it is his past, is current state, or his future. The jagged cracks in the mountains symbolize the rough patches or cracks that one must go through in life and the reflections in the water and platform show how those mistakes reflect who we are. The dead tree shows that eventually we all will grow old and die. Lastly, the white figure is Salvador Dali and how his life is slowly ticking away as well and the eyes are shut because he is reflecting on it in a dream. The final artwork of Salvador Dali s that exemplifies Surrealism is Portrait de Paul Eluard (fig. 3). This artwork was painted in 1929 is also an oil on canvas. It can be found in the Dali Theatre and Museum, Figueres, Spain. The dimensions of Portrait de Paul Eluard (fig. 3) are 33 x 25 cm. In her essay, The Frontier as a Place of Ethnic and Religion Conflict, Limerick says that the frontier wasn t the place where everyone got to escape from their problems from previous locations before; instead she suggested that it was the place in which we all met. The frontier gave many the opportunities to find a better life from all over the world. But because this chance for a new life attracted millions of people from different countries across the seas, the United States experienced an influx of immigrants. The frontier became the place where many races blamed others for their problems. Such as when after the gold rush in California happened and many men started to pour in in hopes to find riches and jobs (53). But when they arrived, there were no riches, and what little jobs were available, immigrants from Asia had already taken it, such as the Chinese. This caused the men who came looking for riches and jobs to become violent. In Wyoming Gunfight: An attack on Chinatown, 1885, Hon. Huang Sih Chuen reported on how there was a group of white men who formed the Rock Springs wanted to rid the land of all Chinamen started to kill and rob Chinese men in the streets of Chinatown, and murdering others by burning them alive in buildings (46). The Rock Springs were the many people who blamed the Chinese for the lack of availability for jobs. They claimed that the Chinese are willing to work for less than the whites do; therefore no strikes can be done so that wages can be raised. However, Hon. • 41. Essay on Shakespeare s Macbeth and Kurosawa s Throne of Blood Throne of Blood, the 1957 filmed translation of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, was made in Japan, written in Japanese by Shinobu Hashimoto, Ryuzo Kikushima, Akira Kurosowa and Hideo Oguni and directed by Akira Kurosawa. It has many times been called an adaptation of Macbeth, however it is not. As storytellers have done since time began, Kurosawa took a story and made it his own: translating a play text into another medium; a separate setting; a differing culture in a completely different style and for a completely contrasting audience. The film wasn t even intended to be an adaptation of Macbeth. When composing Throne of Blood, the writing team involved did not even consult Shakespeare s script, as Stuart Galbraith details in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shakespeare wrote Macbeth for James I of England, a Scottish King, who was an ancestor of Banquo. Kurosawa wrote for a contemporary audience of 1950 s Japan, setting his story in a culture that was known to them, as Shakespeare had done. Similar to the kabuki historical drama or jidai mono, Throne of Blood bases its story around the warriors and noblemen of the feudal Japan, a worthy equivalent to Shakespeare s Scottish soldiers and aristocracy of the early middle ages. In Akira Kurosawa and Intertextual Cinema, James Goodwin says that Kurosawa `demonstrates a preference for eras of disruption in samurai culture, of massive social upheaval, or of civil war. For Throne of Blood he had in mind the Sengoko period of civil wars (1467 1568) when there were frequent incidents of gekokujo, the overthrow of a superior by his own retainers. Kurosawa uses his setting in a similar way to that of Shakespeare, who uses various examples of imagery concerning the idea of imbalance: of order and disorder. In Act Two, Scene Four of Macbeth he uses many hints to tell his audience how chaotic things have become for his characters. Owen, S Poetry In Wilfred Owen s Anti-Vietnam War Poetry World War One (1914 1918) was a war involving many countries, Wilfred Owen was one of the soldiers fighting for the UK however he was completely unaware of the outcome the war would lead too. Owen strongly disagreed with the harsh reality of the war leading to him writing anti war poetry. Both wars were extremely criticized and lead to outrage by many as the majority saw little to no point of either wars. From this poetry it has allowed the public to see the real harshness behind the glamourized version advertised by the government. The poetry not only acts as a clear insight into the war but it also gave the public something to really agree with causing them to be read or listened to again and again. It is due to the great writing style of Wilfred Owen and his use of poetic devices such as metaphors and personification that gives it an even deeper meaning. Owens main concern behind his poetry was to reveal the horrors of war and reveal the harsh reality that is always covered up by the Government. He successfully did this through every piece of poetry he wrote revealing yet another piece of the hidden truth. • 49. The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock Analysis T.S. Eliot was born in 1888 and died in 1965. Eliot set new directions in poetry. His criticism provided new judgements to guide assessments of poetry. In Eliot s critical work on poets and poetry, he observed that the modern inclination is to put up with some degree of incoherence. So long as the verse sounds well and presents striking and melodious imagery. In an age like ours lacking common standards poets need to remind themselves that it is not sufficient to rely upon those gifts, which are native to them, and which they exercise with ease. That good poetrymust exhibit several qualities in proportion of which one is good sense. (Eliot) Some other famous quotes are Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. (Eliot) and finally Human kind cannot bear much reality. (Eliot) Eliot s poem The love song of J. Alfred Prufrock is a dramatic monologue. I think the poem s central themes include Prufrock s inability to act and his feelings of alienation. I think in the beginning T.S. Eliot may have chosen to present this epigraph in Italian because he wanted to keep his poem at a high intellectual level and assumed many of his readers would know Italian. The epigraph should alert to readers this poems sophistication, and should expect subtle literary devices and scholarly allusions. The first two lines feelings are of a lovely romantic evening. Then line 3 with the image of a sick etherized patient, dramatically alters it. The feelings the evening evokes are no longer lovely and romantic but dark and ominous. The metaphor developed in this stanza is a cat compared to smoke. Also compared to that of an evening etherized in line 3 they are alike because they both imply slow motion or paralysis. The effect of juxtaposing the actions of taking of a toast and tea and having time for visions and revisions is interesting since eating is a mundane activity, while having visions is a far more elevated one. The intellectual work of visions is trivialized by being placed on the same level as taking of a toast and tea. I think the character is fastidiously dressed and has thinning hair. African Americans of southern states continued during this violent time to demand equal and fair treatment. Jim Crow laws defined them as second class citizens, required them to continue to be subservient to whites. They were unable to receive proper health care, they had to live in certain sections of town, and were forced to withstand abuse of all nature without protection from law enforcement. Through these times though, civil rights groups, such as the NAACP and movements continued to face the dangers of a hostile Southern population. In their way stood hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan and the White Citizens Council, ready to fight for their beliefs. Jim Crow laws were held up at not only the state levels but, also, the federal government. Even through adversity, the call for real freedom was heard. Many African American and even whites were inspired by great leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and little Linda Brown. The courage of the African American community during Jim Crow can be summed up by Harper Lee, Real courage is...when you know you re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter ... • 51. China Airlines Flight 611 Research Paper China Airlines flight 611 was a regularly scheduled flight from Taiwan International Airport to Hong Kong International Airport. The Boeing 747 flight took off on schedule and departed over the Taiwan Strait between China mainland and the island of Taiwan. Around 20 minutes into the flight the airplane obliterated without warning and crashed into the Taiwan Strait. There were no warning signs to the disaster, and this made discovering the cause very difficult. Engineers began recovering parts of the plane to begin analyzing what caused the disaster. What they did not know is that the reason for the disaster, began twenty two years before in Hong Kong. Until one day, when they discovered a piece on the lower part of the tail, that led... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was determined that ballistic trajectory analysis was the next method to try and solve the mystery. Ballistic trajectory analysis is a computer program that uses factors of the atmosphere and the plane to trace where each object landed. This system is based on the fact that the part that breaks off first will land in the water first. The engineers used the GPS locations of each of the pieces along with the weight, speed, direction, ocean currents, and wind to determine which part of the plane broke off and therefore landed first. After performing this analysis, it was concluded that the tail end of the plane broke off first, and after they discovered this, the focus of the investigation focused to the tail. Then one day while scanning over the wreckage pieces, metallurgist Frank Zakar noticed a certain piece that had a different looking crack than all of the other pieces. When an airplane breaks in midair, many smaller pieces break off just because of the sudden force of the air acting on it, this is called an overload fracture. Overload fractures break at an angle, and up to this point all the pieces of metal that had been found had this characteristic. The new piece that was found did not have this type of character at all. The engineers examined this piece and found that it had very smooth cracking, very typical of metal fatigue. Metal ... (Wood, Graeme. What ISIS Really Wants. The Atlantic. Atlantic Media Company, 15 Feb. 2015.) So if they are so religious, do they perceive themselves as violent, or do they think they are doing the right thing? It is hard to answer, but all anyone knows is that violence is in their culture. The dominant culture of most people in this world find ISIS extremely hard to understand, and to most of the world, this group is viewed as one of the most dangerous groups ever to live.
