The News Media And The Effects Of The News Media
Effects of News Media

Allyson Wells Effects of News Media
The effects or the news media in today s culture is tremendous. We use the news media not only to
stay informed, but also as a way among many Americans to form an opinion about certain topics in
today s world. This information is provided to us through the use of sources such as television news,
radio and more and more the internet. These forms of information find themselves in a constant and
perpetual news cycle within American culture.
Social Responsibility in Reporting
The news media has a responsibility to the American people to ensure accuracy in a story. While these
sources have the right to publish what they want, they need to be ... Show more content on

The divisiveness of these practices can be tremendous. Personally, I tend to get my information from
several sources, analyze the data, and then come to a rational conclusion as to what I believe the truth
to be. This approach has allowed me to look through the partisan viewpoint, allowing me to see the
bias in the everyday reporting.
Media Convergence
The convergence of media, especially the more traditional media sources taking to the internet, has
been both a blessing and a curse. The ability to report on anything in the world at a moment s notice
has transformed the idea of journalism. The reporters of today are of no resemblance of the reporters
of the past. The folks who would spend weeks tracking down information and sources for a story now
spend moments at a laptop accomplishing what they consider to be the same thing. This has caused
the current news media to have issues with both integrity and accuracy. In the past, reporters would
spend ample amounts of time gathering information, forming their thoughts, and writing the article.
Even with the amount of time they spent on this process, there was even more time allotted for
checking and double checking their facts to ensure the accuracy and morality of the story. Today s
journalists have posted articles just moments after an event. This can be helpful in many ways, but
also harmful. The immediate gratification of posting an article negates any thought about

Solar Heartbeat
The first discovery that we will talk about in this essay, is the discovery of the solar heartbeat .
Scientists have discovered a pulse within the Sun that lies in the layers of gas that revolve underneath
the surface of the Sun. Scientists discovered that the Sun s equatorial region rotates at rate that differs
from the rate at which the Sun s polar regions rotate. The equatorial region rotating once every twenty
seven days, and the polar regions, every thirty five days. This differential in rotations extends down a
third of the way to the Sun s core, in the convection layer. Rotations at the convection layer also differ
from the Sun s equatorial and polar regions, taking only fifteen to sixteen days to complete a
revolution. It is believed by astronomers that these internal rotating gas layers are in correspondence
with eruptions and solar flares on the surface of the Sun.
The next discovery we will talk about, is the discovery of a giant, dog bone shaped asteroid, located in
an asteroid belt, between the planets of Mars and Jupiter. The asteroid, known as 216 Kleopatra, was
captured on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This asteroid entered the Earth s atmosphere on January 18, 2000, and when it eventually exploded in
the sky, exploded with the Force of about five to ten thousand tons of dynamite. For the first time,
scientists were able to recover the fragments of the fallen meteor and bring them back to a lab in a
frozen state and untouched. When taken back to a lab for examination, the meteor was discovered to
carbonaceous chondrites. This was rare, because carbonaceous chondrites are very fragile, and usually
break apart and disintegrate upon reentry into the Earth s atmosphere, and even if they survive reentry,
are susceptible to weathering on the ground. Out of all the asteroids to descend onto Earth, only 2%

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hand Irons
Hand Iron
Hand irons are appropriate method of fusing where the interlinings could be fused at comparatively at
low temperatures and pressures and in relatively short time period. But only small components can be
fused in this system (Fairhurst 2008; Cooklin 2006).
8.1.4.3 Steam Press
Regular steam pressing machines are not chosen for fusing even though some fusibles are produced
for use on these machines. The main limitations of pressing machines concerning fusing are:
Inability to reach the heat levels required by majority of resins
Shape and size of bucks limit size of components that can be fused
Most utility machines are not fitted with programme controls, which means entire process is operator
controlled
If the resin is activated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

8.2.6 Types of pressing equipment
Solid surface pressing equipment uses a firm surface to apply pressure while steam and heat mould the
fabric, garment or garment parts. Pressure may be applied through rolling action, gliding action or
compression (Holme 1999).
8.2.6.1 Hand Irons
For more than hundreds of years hand irons were heated on coal stoves. These methods were steadily
replaced by gas heating. Steam was created by lightly wetting the area to be pressed or by pressing
through a dampened piece of linen. The most frequent but least productive ironing and pressing
equipment is the hand iron, which is suitable for performing a large number of operations in
processing with heat and moisture (Holme 1999).
More sophisticated and more productive but less prevalent are ironing presses, which allows a
considerable degree of mechanization and automation of processing with heat and moisture. Fabrics
are steamed to eliminate lustrous appearance which develops when ironing and pressing equipment is
used. The two basic types of irons used today

Today s Unrealistic Body Expectations
Modern society portrays good looking men to have broad shoulders, toned arms, six pack abs, and a
small waist while good looking women are viewed to have the characteristics of being slim and fit,
having a small waist, lean hips, and perfect skin complexion. As a result, many people are affected by
our own society s portrayals of good looking men and women that they feel pressured into doing
whatever it takes and going through extreme measures, most of the time, spending countless hours in
the gym trying to achieve that perfect body. Body image is evident in the gym, as the men are lifting
weights they are frequently looking in the mirror examining every angle of their body making sure no
area is lacking muscle. On the other hand, women tend to partake in the same behavior as men,
showing a sense of insecurity about their own bodies, frequently making trips to the scale to keep
track of their weight making sure to stay slim and fit. Society has a profound effect on many people,
making them feel insecure about their own bodies. The mass media s use of such unrealistic images
sends an implicit message to men and women that to be considered good looking they must partake in
unhealthy diets, extreme exercises and unhealthy body modification enhancers, which in turn can have
detrimental effects on one s health. Such standards of beauty and appearance are almost completely
unattainable for most men and women and most of the models displayed on television and in
advertisements is

Evolution Of Digests
1. Evolution of Research Sources: From Digests to Hyperlinks
Traditionally, legal issues would be researched using Digests, a series of books that used a
standardized alphabetical classification system of main topics (such as Burglary or Searches and
Seizures ) and Key numbers (subtopics such as Defenses or Probable Cause ) that were identical to the
topics and Key numbers used in case headnotes. Using the main topic in boldface and the Key number
that appeared at the beginning of each headnote for a case, digest editors collected headnotes on
specific points of law from cases within a given jurisdiction.
Although the print versions of Digests (and case reporters) have been phased out, understanding Key
numbering is critical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Start by Reading a Secondary Source
Online (or Books): If you need to educate yourself about an unfamiliar issue, start by reading a
secondary source, such as an encyclopedia, A.L.R., a hornbook, or a commercial guide to find articles
that explain and survey the law.
Online (or Books): For codes, use the Table of Contents to locate the general issue and then look for
specific code sections to read.
Identify Terms to Use for Research
Parties: Identify the parties to the case by their class (e.g., minors), occupation (doctor), or relationship
(tenant, heir).
Places: Consider where the problem arose, such as public buildings, amusement parks, or sidewalks.
Things: Include objects involved in the dispute, such as automobiles.
Basis of Action: Negligence, breach of contract, conversion, search and seizure are some ideas to use
for terms.
Defenses: Assumption of the risk, infancy, and other defenses if relevant.
Relief Sought: Punitive damages, injunction, annulment, and other forms of relieve should be included
in the search terms as needed
Use Research Terms to Search Online Sources
Write a focused query using the research terms you identified. A query using terms and connectors
will yield a more focused result than a general query.
Use the categories (cases, secondary sources, etc.) to find controlling authorities.
Narrow the search by using specific sources or dates or expand the search to

Camping Trip Persuasive Essay
We are going to have so much fun guys! this was one of many moments when I could confidently say
I don t believe I am my mother s child. She was talking about our upcoming camping trip for spring
break. While my friends went to Florida, South Carolina, and Hawaii, I was stuck driving 12 hours to
my parents favorite camping spot in Maine. I can appreciate nature in small doses, yes butterflies are
cute, and waterfalls are beautiful. But I don t do camping. I mean why does anyone? The bear
warnings at the beginning of a camp site should be scary enough. But if that doesn t do it for you,
think of the lack of running water, heat (or AC), and hot meals. Counting that day, I had a week left
before being dragged to the woods.
Naturally, that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I guess you re rooming with us kiddo! his smile was probably the worst part of all this. It s like the
forest was drugs and my dad was a happy addict.
After setting up the tent, our three sleeping bags were laid out. I fought to have the spot beside the
opening for the tent so I could open it if I got hot without stepping over two other bodies.
Now it was dinner time. My dad proudly told the story of his first time camping, and the hunt he went
on for his dinner. Thankfully, we wouldn t have to hunt down our dinner tonight. We had the slightly
better alternative, canned beans. I lost my appetite looking at the slimy concoction, and let me not
even get started on the flavor.
Alright, this day didn t go exactly as planned my mom glanced over to the pathetic pile that should ve
been my tent before continuing but, we are going to have a fun day tomorrow, get some good sleep

I ve been sitting in this tent for about two hours now. I guess a nice little walk would be the best way
to cure this homesickness of sorts.
Leaving my tent was hard, thankfully my parents sleep like their hibernating. At home I love to go on
walk through the neighborhood. This sure isn t home though, my thin flip flops have a thick layer of
mud caked under them. The twigs and leaves I keep stepping on cause me to jump, I probably look

The Jury In John Steinbeck s Twelve Angry Men
In the courtroom, the jury acts as the last chance that the defendant has to try to secure his or her
freedom. Depending on their final verdict, the life of another human being is decided. Any jury,
though, can only be as good as the jurors that make up the panel. This fact is very clearly illustrated in
Twelve Angry Men, where a couple of bad seeds almost end up making a premature decision based on
purely arbitrary reasons that would retuen to haunt them. Clearly, mixed in with those truly cared
about whether or not the suspect that was accused actually got a fair trial, there were also those on the
other end of the spectrum who honestly could not have cared less. People who do not show any
compassion towards the faith of others need to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not unusual for someone to fill over the brim with emotions and then just let them all out. In an
environment as hectic as this, it is imperative that the jurors are able to stay on top of things.
DecisionQuest, which is a trial consulting firm, recognizes that jurors are distracted during jury
selection. Jurors are often worried about work concerns or children they have left with a sitter. They
feel off balance being in a courthouse with strangers. Or, they may be worried about how participating
as a juror will interfere with their schedules if they are chosen. (4) This is displayed all throughout the
play, where the highest priority for some jurors was not how guilty or innocent the defendant truly
was, but rather by how quickly they could finish the deliberation process and head home. Their view
of the situation was unacceptable, and one great example of this was that of Juror Number Seven.
Upon walking into the deliberation room with a guilty verdict already on his mind, he remarked on
how this [decision] better be fast. I ve got tickets to The Seven Year Itch (88) Later in the play, he
changes his verdict to innocent, for the lone reason of that he was a little sick of this whole thing
already, and that they were getting nowhere fast. (105) If he had only placed a fraction of the effort
that he spent complaining into the case itself, it would have moved along at a much quicker rate. In
addition, Juror

Types of Sports Fans
Professional sports has become one of the most popular industries in the world today. The media
spends billions of dollars on advertisements and teams spend millions of dollars on professional
athletes all for one reason, the fans. The fans ticket sales and merchandise purchases are what keeps
all the sport teams around and prevents professional athletes from losing their jobs. There are three
types of fans in the sports world, average fans, fanatics, and fair weather fans.
Fans that are fanatics are the ones who are diehard and will put their favorite team before almost all
other priorities. Their lives revolve around their favorite team and they will do ... Show more content

Usually they will know all or the majority of the people on their team, but will not know every aspect
about them. This type of fan is the most common and will root on and follow their favorite team, but
their life is not completely consumed by it by any means. Other priorities still come before their sports
team and will not let their favorite team consume all of their time.
The last type of fan is a fair weather fan. This is the least liked fan and these fans irritate many people.
Fair weather fans will like one team one year and switch their favorite team the next year because of
recent success by the other team. These people are not truly sports fans, and will just root for who is
popular or whoever their peers like so they can fit in. Fair weather fans root for teams that they do not
follow because of excitement revolving around a team or because there are some big names on the
team that they have actually heard of. These people will like a team, but will not follow them very
closely and may only attend one or two sporting events a year at the most. Fair weather fans will know
the names of the star people on their team, but will not know the majority of their favorite team.
Usually they will not have much merchandise with their favorite team on it either because they switch
teams so much that they do not have tome to accumulate many goods with their team on them.

A Brief Look at Global Warming
So what actually is global warming? Obviously the name explains it; the globe becoming warmer. But
what does it mean to become warmer ? The sun isn t getting hotter; the world isn t traveling closer to
the sun. Global warming is when rapid moving particles collide more and more with other rapid
moving particles and are trapped by the atmosphere s thick layer of gas molecules. As more heat is
trapped, particles that are in earth s atmosphere collide with each other. As more collisions are present,
the average kinetic energy which is the average speed at which the particles collide with one another
increases therefore the temperature increases which affects many aspects of life.
A predominant factor as to why global warming happens is more gas particles exposed in the air
because of an increase in gases produced by industries. Gases such as CO2 and SO2 are constantly
harming our environment by regularly adding more harmful gasses into our atmosphere. Due to forest
fires, industries, factories, and new found technology such as the car, many harmful gas molecules are
surrounding us. These harmful gas molecules collide with our healthy atmospheric particles which
make the amount of gas particles increase dreadfully. Since more collisions between these different
particles are occurring, the average kinetic energy is raised therefore the temperature increases as well.
As more particles are added into the atmosphere, it becomes denser and gasses are getting trapped into

Safety Management System Essay
Safety Management Systems (SMS) have been presented as the future state of commercial aviation.
The objective of this capstone is to have a better understanding of the SMS role in aviation. At United
Airlines for example, SMS Corrective Action is used as a reporting tool during the performance of the
safety risk management. SMS is characterized by four key elements also known as the four pillars
(icao.int). They are, safety risk management, safety policy, safety assurance and safety promotion.
Those pillars are the foundation of SMS, therefore, regroup all the main factors that affect the
commercial and general aviation industry safety. Safety Management System (SMS), according to the
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a systematic approach to managing safety, such as
organizational structures, accountabilities, policies, and procedures (icao.int). Unfortunately, couple
years ago, as the aviation industry was getting more and more attention from people, airline owners
did not pay attention to safety, it was the race for profit not safety. Customer well being came before
employee s satisfaction or health. Consequently, there were more employees injured while working
due to the lack of safety; aircraft accidents occurred more frequently and caused the death of hundreds
of people, and the loss of equipment. To resolve these problems, airlines and aviation professionals
around the world, with the help of the ICAO felt the need to improve safety and maintenance

The Impact of Puritans on the Development of America and its influence on modern society
The Puritans came to America in search of greater freedom for religious liberty. They felt unable to
worship and practice their theological perspectives as long as they were under the umbrella of the
Church of England. The puritans views with the Church of England began differ greatly and they felt
they could no longer be under their control. The Puritans decided that they needed to break free from
the Church of England and find a place where they could practice their religion without persecution or

They believed that the Church of England was moving toward the same doctrine as the Catholic
Church and they refused to be associated with that type of teaching. They believed the Church of
England worshipped idols and prayed to many gods, for example the Catholic Church praying to the
Saints. The Puritans broke away from the Church of England for these reasons and wanted a world
where there was one true God according to their religion. The new world in America offered the
Puritans this opportunity to be free from the Church of England and form their own communities
according to the way they viewed Christianity. The Puritan term comes from the belief that one should
remain pure in body and in thought to God. It was very important for them to live a life of strict order
and obedience to God and His Word in order to gain eternal life. The Puritans arrived in New England
and started to set up communities to practice their religion. The Puritans had no sooner landed in the
New World than they began coercively to purify their surroundings ( Rothbard, 1999) They purified
their surroundings by purging everyone who was not a Christian by setting up communities that
elusively Christian and ruled with a theocratic mindset.

Technology has changed the world we live in and has had a significant impact on the way society
works and performs their jobs. Constant rises in innovations such as advanced computers,

innovations have been universally introduced and used through various industries to modernize,

Using economic theory and information gathered from prior academic research, this paper will
address how technological changes have affected the demand for skilled and unskilled workers.
There has been a long debate throughout various forms of literature related to this topic over whether
technology is destroying or creating jobs. Taking economic theory into consideration, I have come to
the hypothesis that technological changes have shifted the demand for both skilled and unskilled
workers; causing a downward shift in demand for low/unskilled workers and causing an upward shift
in the demand for skilled workers. Based on substitution and scale effects, technological change
creates shifts in labor demand. Because innovation and automation reduces the cost of capital, this
also results in substitution and scale effects.
In this paper, I will first review three sources of economic research related to my topic. I will
summarize their research question, methods and findings. I will then summarize my findings and
present some future points to consider. After assessing the various information gathered from prior
academic research, I have come to the conclusion that overall skill biased technological change does
exist and does in fact affect the demand for skilled and unskilled workers.

Attack of the Cloning Regulations Essay
Attack of the Cloning Regulations
Better and new technologies and ideas are constantly introduced through the passage of time, most of
which are just for the convenience of modern life. There is usually not much of an objection when
they are introduced into society because the pros of the idea greatly outweigh the cons; however, this
is not the case with the discovery that human cloning is now practically possible. When a
breakthrough like cloning comes about regulations must be set forth to insure the safety of all those
who would use it. On one side there are people who want strong restrictions on cloning. They would
prefer to have cloning be as limited as possible or even banned to prevent any unethical or dangerous

Stop Cloning Now, the article selected from the February 2003 issue, is an editorial that discusses the
subject of cloning. The position that the editor takes is that cloning is just plain evil. The main point
presented is that cloning is unsafe and should not be performed under any circumstances. The editorial
is divided into several parts covering the topics of why cloning should not be done, what the public
thinks about cloning, and what politicians are doing about it.
Beginning the editorial with a comparison of cloning scientists to Jack Kevorkian is a very powerful
use of pathos. It creates in the mind of the reader the image that both cloning scientists and Jack
Kevorkian are evil. There are many people opposed to Dr. Kevorkian and with those who would clone
being made into the equivalent of the doctor then those same people should logically be opposed to
cloning.
Next, the editorial starts to talk about the problems with cloning. The first problem stated is that
cloning is unsafe. Ethos is gained in the article by quoting the head of Russia s Molecular Genetics

Spinoza On Substance Monism
The stance that Spinoza has on substance is that there is only one substance, out of which all else is
somehow constituated. Substance for the Stoics, is also seen as a monist philosophy. Because Stoics
think of the world as a unitary system that contains all beings they should be considered substance
monism. This is often cited as the clearest example of how Spinoza was most influenced by Stoic
philosophy. However, Spinoza states that there is only one substance, but further from that, he
unambiguously signals that understanding it is a prerequisite to understanding the epistemological,
psychological, and moral issues where as for the Stoics this is not completely obvious; nor it is
obvious that they place substance at the basis of all philosophical investigation. From the Stoic view,
they do make philosophical investigation being with nature: we must first learn about it before we can
advance to logic and ethics. So upon initial thought, one might think although they may not call it
substance, the Stoics do have nature and its conceptual and argumentative status seems similar to that
of Spinozistic substance. Therefore, because the Stoics have a concept that is equivalent in key
respects to Spinoza s substance, the differences that I stated above may appear not so great after all.
What lies at the heart of Stoic monism is the intuition that the world constitutes a genuine and well
integrated whole, but by contrast, Spinozistic monism is held to be based on either

Keats´ The Second Coming Essays
In a world full of hostility and loss of faith surrounded by war and technological developments, he
modernist era of literature developments, the modernists era of literature arose. The sinking of the
Titanic symbolized the falling of the Great Britain empire and newly invented standardized time
allowed war to become even deadlier than before due to the ability to organize attacks. Due to this
new world full of bloodshed and new mechanical inventions, the world was falling further and further
away from God. William Butler Years expresses his sudden collapse of society in his poem The

Society has strayed so far away from God that we cannot be guided back home.
Yeats begins the poem with the first two lines painting an image of society falling apart and breaking
down, one that O Brien refers to as a cultural breakdown. He says, The falcon represents those forces
that function productively only when disciplined. In order to maintain structure and to prevent the
gyre from widening further, our society needs discipline, otherwise our structure, our faith, or very
nature as human beings deteriorates. At this time in our society, our discipline in our faith is gone. Our
discipline in our morals and ethics is gone.
Lines 3 6 illustrate society s inability to hold together without discipline. Because the falcon can no
longer hear the falconer to find its way back home, things fall apart the result of society straying from
God. With everything falling apart, the need for someone or something to save society becomes
prominent. Since society has strayed away from God, the next solution is man as a savior, but with the
new age of war and machinery, mankind has lost their ability to save the world. O Brien says,
Everything that makes life valuable is being drenched in blood. The ceremony of innocence refers no
to one particular ceremony but is intended to suggest the grace and order of civilized society.
Moreover, there is nobody to fight the blood dimmed tide. Soldiers are

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Acetaminophene
Acetaminophen (APAP) is one of the most commonly used analgesic and antipyretic drugs worldwide
and easily available for use without a prescription. In 2014, over 67,000 people receive an overdose of
APAP in the US, among which around 1,200 cases ended with severe liver failure or death [1].
Over the past two decades, considerable effort has been made to understand the mechanisms of APAP
hepatotoxicity. Although the complex molecular mechanisms remain speculative, several theories
have been proposed to explain APAP induced hepatotoxicity. During metabolism, around 5 10% APAP
is biotransformed into a highly reactive metabolite, N acetyl p benzoquinone imine (NAPQI), by
several cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYPs) [2]. Normally, hepatic glutathione ... Show more content

Among these cell lines, human hepatocarcinoma cells (HepG2), an easy to handle and inexpensive
cell model, is one of most frequently used cell lines in hepatotoxicity studies. HepG2 cells, which are
isolated from a hepatoblastoma, exhibit many genotypic characteristics that are crucial for toxicity
responses [11, 12]. Indeed, these cells express a low level of CYP2E1, but the expression of other
CYPs playing essential roles in APAP metabolism (such as CYP1A1, CYP1A2, and CYP3A4) are
comparable with other more metabolic competent human hepatic models, such as HepaRG and
primary human hepatocytes (PHH) [13]. CYP2E1, exclusively located in the endoplasmic reticulum
(ER) as well as mitochondria, is an effective ROS generator in cells during catalyzing APAP
metabolism to NAPQI [14, 15]. Therefore, HepG2 cells, which has a minimal level of CYP2E1
induced ROS formation, could be a useful model to study the contribution of non CYP2E1 mediated
mitochondrial specific oxidative stress in APAP induced hepatic injury. In fact, the CYP2E1
expression and enzyme activity vary substantially in both non compound exposed and compound
exposed liver slices obtained from human donors [16, 17]. Moreover, genetic variation of CYP2E1
(CYP2E1*5, *1B and *1D), which have been associated with

Women Go Into Leadership
Title:
Women go into leadership female style or male style?
The Pitch:
The debate about the difference in leadership style of women and men continues to attract attention
since women make strides into leadership position dominated mainly by men. Men have long been
holding these leadership roles and have defined styles accepted by people. Therefore, it is not
surprising that women are usual the focus in terms of the discussion on gender difference in leadership
styles. There seems to be great disagreement about the behaviour of women and men actually
performing such roles (Eagly, 2001). This disagreement on this focus can be divided into two groups.
One is the no difference camp, who commonly agreed that there are few differenced in the ... Show

In other words, communal aspects are more presented in a transformational leadership style. While
transformational leaders are portrayed to have a personalized view of each co worker and they often
take into account their colleagues individual needs and development (Eagly, 2003).
Based on Eagly and Johannesen Schmidt theory, female and male forms of leadership and
empowerment seem to be different. Communal and transformational characteristics are more
presented by women than men. So some women exhibited an open and participatory leadership style.
Additionally, women are perceived to work harder and take their work more seriously, and women are
less concern with salary than the recognition of a good done of job (Alvesson, 2009).
The focus of the debate concentrates on: In what context leadership style shows a similarity or a slight
difference between women and men and is there a specific female form of leadership? This
documentary shows the different leadership styles of women by case studies. It will investigate
whether or perhaps there is a specific female style of leadership preferred by a majority of women.
POV:
Social role theory of sex differences and similarities convincingly explains the sex differences in
leadership style. At the same time, there are certain expectations coming from co workers towards
their leaders when they are

Compare And Contrast Citizens United Vs Fec
What do corporations and individual citizens have in common? According to the court ruling of
Citizens United v FEC, people and corporations should have the right to speak their mind. Unlike
corporations, most individual citizens do not have the vast amount of resources that huge groups are
strategically designed to make. Corporations are much more capable of getting what they want
because of their strength in numbers and the influence that they have. Their main goal is to make as
much money as they can and as a result, their money has the ability to influence politics. The Supreme
Court s ruling allows money to speak. Instead of protecting free speech, it undermines democracy.
First, it is necessary to understand who Citizens United is and the roles of political action committees.

complete assignments on time. For example, I would complete my discussion posts a day before they
were due or I would reflect on my postings with turning in the portfolio early. Because I turned

productions in a manageable amount of time. I also created a strategy to help me be successful. I
would read the articles and the videos associated with the production before watching the show. This
would help me understand the production better by the little details of the theme and character

On How the American Indians Were Removed from Their Land
One by one Indian peoples were removed to the West. The Delaware, the Ottawa, Shawnee, Pawnee
and Potawatomi, the Sauk and Fox, Miami and Kickapoo, the Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek and
Seminole. In all some 90 thousand Indians were relocated. The Cherokee were among the last to go.
Some reluctantly agreed to move. Others were driven from their homes at bayonet point. Almost two
thousands of them died along the route they remembered as the Trail of Tears. For decades, the state of
Georgia sought to enforce its authority over the Cherokee Nation, but its efforts had little effect until
the election of President Andrew Jackson, a longtime supporter of Indian removal. In 1838 the U.S.
government forced the Cherokee Indians out of their land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was going to relocate the eastern tribes beyond the Mississippi River. Another President of the
United States, James Monroe, wrote a letter to Andrew Jackson that stated, I have long viewed treaties
with the Indians an absurdity not to be reconciled to the principles of our government. The Choctaw
relocation began in 1830, seven years later the Chickasaw were removed. In 1836 the Creek were
removed by force that was followed by the negotiations that started in 1832. The Seminole removal
triggered a 7 year war that ended in 1843. They had been given 2 years to pack and move, and after
the two years they would be moved by force. The government sent 7,000 troops to start the moving
process. The Indians were forced off their land at bayonet point. They were not given any extra time to
pack, they started loading and the whites took their homes and lands as soon as they were gone. Being
forced out of their land and to another affected the Indians more than most people know. About four
thousand Cherokee people died on their way to the new land, some died of cold, hunger, or diseases.
Some of the Indians later committed arson and murder because of how hard it was for them to get over
the treatment of their people. In

With this mandate, came the difficulty of defining what exactly a learning disability constitutes.
Learning Disabilities generally is viewed as a category in federal legislation referring to disorders
involved in understanding or using language, manifested in imperfect ability to listen, think, speak,
read, write, spell, or do mathematical calculations (EBSCO, 2005, p.1). Students with learning
disabilities have average or above average intelligence but suffer from impaired brain functions or also
known as neurological handicaps. This impairment makes it difficult for them to acquire skills and
knowledge accurately and fast enough to keep pace with average academic progress. Once believed to
be rare, learning disabilities are now believed to affect approximately 5 percent of the population
(Encarta, 2003, p.1); many experts believe the percentage to be actually higher. Learning disabilities
do not refer to a single disorder, but to a wider range of problems, which can include language,
memory, attention, and organization; that can affect any area of academic performance.

Mighty Amun-Ra God
We are now introduced to Ra, the ancient Egyptian solar deity, whom, identified for the most part with
the midday sun, had become a major god in Egyptian religion and represented (like the earliest sun
god) warmth, growth and light. The deity was of most importance, being seen as creator and ruler of
all with the body (or eye of Ra) typically represented as a sun disk. Ra is credited with having created
the plants, animals, months and seasons. With the belief that every night he would visit the dark world
of death, only to survive the ordeal and rise in the morning with all of his creations, it only solidified
his power and status. Around the second dynasty, his cult grew large enough to establish deity status.

An Essay on Modernism vs. Traditionalism in The Mayor of Casterbridge
During the first half of the 19th century English society was making the difficult transition from a pre
industrial Britain to modern Victorian times. In agriculture, most of the transition took place around
1846 with the repeal of the corn laws. This allowed foreign grain to be imported into England for the
first time. Consequently, the entire structure and methods of agriculture in Britain were greatly altered.
Much of the action in Thomas Hardy s novel The Mayor of Casterbridge takes place during the years
surrounding 1846. These were the years in which traditionalists took their last stand before being

Henchard himself was mentally and physically unfit for grabbing subtleties from solid paper; he had
in a modern sense received the education of Achilles, and found penmanship a tantalizing art. (p.72,
The Mayor of Casterbridge)
The conflicts between modern and traditional approaches to business are demonstrated through the
contrasting business ethics of Henchard and Farfrae. Henchard, being an older man, is not as skilled at
penmanship or mathematics and as a result his bookkeeping skills represent an older and more
traditional method of maintaining business accounts. Farfrae, being from a younger generation
approaches business in a more modern way. He keeps the financial records as accurate and as up to
date as possible, making sure to go through old records and correct any mistakes that Henchard had
made previously. Henchard s methods of business represent skills that are no longer in continual use.
Farfrae is an example of how the advance of technology causes the loss of traditional, and valuable
skills.
In the same way, the conflict between traditional and modern approaches to business is demonstrated
through Henchard and Farfrae s contrasting perspectives on how to manage employees. Henchard, the
traditionalist, takes a stern approach when reprimanding employees, instilling respect into his
employees through fear. Henchard punishes an employee for his tardiness. I don t want to hear it!

An Article From American Pregnancy
A new phenomenon, placentophagy, has taken the United States by storm. Placentophagy is the
concept of consuming the placenta after giving birth to a child in order to receive specific health
benefits. Controversy has ensued over whether or not the placenta is actually beneficial to mothers.
The pro argument states that placentophagy is in fact advantageous. An article from American
Pregnancy, entitled Placenta Encapsulation explains that the basis of placentophagy relies heavily on
anecdotes from mothers who have tried out the procedure and supported the practice. Another article
from the website Placenta Benefits explains under their health and wellness tab how exactly
consuming the placenta can be valuable. The page has a list of all the benefits, including related
articles that go into further detail on a specific subject. Annette McDermott explains in her article that
a study was done on one hundred and eight nine participants, and seventy six percent said they
experienced positive results when consuming placenta. Yet another article by Michele Zipp also
mentions the previously mentioned study, and says that more studies will be conducted in the future. It
also mentioned that mothers who had another kid would continue to consume the placenta, and in
different ways, which suggests they had experienced positive effects. One last blog from whattoexpect

I Am A Holistic Thinker
3. How does your orientation in these 6 areas compare with the expectations of our society? (School,
jobs, relationships) Explain.
My orientation in the six areas may or may not compare with the expectations of our society. I am
time oriented. This is a very American way of thinking. American schools, businesses, and homes
often have a clock in every room, and nearly everyone wears a watch. Each day is organized into time
periods of specific length, and use of each period is fully planned. Anniversaries, dates, and historical
chronologies also have special importance.
I am a holistic thinker. This orientation tends to be present in Hebrew and other non western cultures
while dichotomistic thinking lies primarily in the west. This tends to be because westerners tend to use
the left hemisphere of the brain which is analytical, logical, precise, and time sensitive, while the non
western cultures use the right hemisphere which is holistic, emotional, pattern recognition, and
sensory. Although hemispheric dominance limits the creativity of individuals and cultures, the general
tendency is towards extremes. Western schooling and religious denominations suppress the concrete,
emotional, and synthetic thinkers, while non western cultures suppress their analytic and abstract
thinkers.
I am also more non crisis oriented than crisis oriented. My orientation is seen more in non American
societies. An example is the American military system. They have a set code of

Move Of Wrestling Essay
So in wrestling there are multiple moves you can do. These moves are probably the most basic moves
you are taught and the most commonly used moves done today. The first move is the double leg
takedown. The double leg takedown is a flying tackle similar to a football tackle (Douglas). For a
double leg takedown there are a lot of little steps that you may need to execute this move correctly.
The first thing you need to do is perform a setup and then to perform a penetration step. The next thing
you are gonna wanna do is to place your head on either side of your opponent. Next you are going to
want to push your chest up against your opponent s thighs and hips. The less space you have the better

Typically, the lower part of the leg is pulled in one direction, while the torso or shoulder is used to
press the body or upper part of the leg of the opponent in the other direction. Another great takedown
is the duck under. In a duck under, the wrestler pulls the opponent s elbow forward and away from the
body, lowers his own head, and ducks under the opponent s arm in an effort to get behind or at least
beside the opponent; from this position the opponent can be taken down by lifting and throwing or by
a leg trip. Then for the best and most used move everyone uses in wrestling, the half nelson. The half
nelson is referred to by most coaches as being the easiest, but most effective move in folkstyle
wrestling (Wrestling Moves). It involves you using only one hand, by passing it under the arm of the
opponent and locking the hand on the opponent s neck. Then you will run him over until his back is
fully on the mat. Then you will want to get chest to chest to make sure that he can t get out of it. You
will hold it there until he is pinned or until you get your nearfall points. So there are a lot of wrestling
moves to know about, but in order to be good at these moves, you must choose to eat healthy so you

Essay on Robert Nozick s Experience Machine
Good experiences are something that we spend our life constantly striving to obtain. Once we gain
these good experiences, we look for the next opportunity in order to gain that same great feeling that
we had in our last experience. What if someone told you that there was a way to have these good
experiences all the time? You could quite literally plug yourself into a machine that would give you
the great experiences that you have been searching for your whole life. The best part is that, once you

Unger mentions the tendency for us to buy life insurance as a claim that good experiences are not the
only thing that matter to us. We do not get good experiences for paying our life insurance. In fact, we
will never experience anything that happens to this money. We do this so that our dependents will
benefit from this money. With all this said, we are still very rational in buying this life insurance.
(Unger 1990, 166) Therefore, we should value our capacity to make free decisions in the real world
over just having good experiences. The life insurance example, that Unger mentions, is a perfect
example as to why there are things that matter to us besides pleasure. Nozick sums this up by saying,
Perhaps what we desire is to live as ourselves, in contact with reality. (Nozick² 2010, 1) One can
interpret Nozick s statement by his insinuation that gaining pure pleasurable experiences are not as
valuable as knowing that we are living in contact with reality. We should cherish and desire our lives
in our realistic world; false pleasure experiences have no real value. In our lives, we want to BE
certain people to plug in to an experience machine is to commit a form of suicide. (Nozick² 2010, 1)
Plugging into an experience in order for you to merely experience false happenings would be lying to

in her character, she reaches maturity. In fact this novel is a bildungsroman which is a story about a
character self development, her change.
At the beginning of the novel, Kambili is seen as immature and young because of the fact that she is
very observant but does not say anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because they live a different lifestyle, they are not constrained to Papa, they are allowed to be
free and experiment! Nsukka air will be good for me, for my recuperation Father Amadi is another
person who changed Kambili. Father amadi is an encouraging person who makes Kambili change.
This is shown when Amadi manages to convince Kambili to run after him! In fact she says i had
smiled, run, laughed , 3 things she had never done before. Because of the fact that Kambili starts to
idealize and fall in love with Amadi that she starts to look up to Amadi and not to her father anymore!
Father Amadi can be considered as one of her only friends! Aunty Ifeoma also helped kambili become
less dependant on papa, this is shown when she takes the schedules from Kambili and Jaja and for the
first time in their life Kambili and Jaja are free to do what they like which causes them to change.
This change and maturity in Kambili is later shown when she starts to defy papa. This is shown when
she steals the picture of papa Nnukwu and keeps it in her room and when she describes Papa as a tall
stranger ! However Kambili still remains loyal to her father and obeys him still, she does not go to the
extent and rebel totally against him, unlike Jaja. This also shows that she isn t mature enough and
therefore obeys her father and Jaja to an extent.

Individuals Need To Break Our Silence Rhetorical Analysis
I thought that this speech was very inspirational and had so much truth behind it. The concept of
conflict is very difficult but speaking up and being open about it can and will only solve it whether it
be positive or negative. I agree with Margret when she said that the truth won t set us free until we
develop the skills, the habit, the talent, and the moral courage to do it. We as individuals need to break
our silence. I feel like the speaker was trying to say go out of your way to voice your opinion in
simple settings. The more comfortable you become with your own voice and understanding that you
are an intelligent human being, it will be easier to do again. Practice voicing your opinion. If you are
proved wrong, you are only learning. If

I Am The Cheese Journey
I am the Cheese Why does Adam have so much determination and will? Adam goes on a journey to
deliver his father a gift. He faces many challenges. These challenges include weather, fatigue, and
bravery. In the novel I am the Cheese, Adam must go on a journey that tests Adam physically and
mentally. Adam must face the environment. One of his main challenges is weather. The rain begins
without warning, slashing at my face, pelting my body (Cormier 66). The wind and rain play a major
role on Adam s journey. This slows Adam s progress to deliver his father the package. Adam faces
many more challenges, some of which are physical. While on his bike, Adam becomes tired because
he has been on the long journey. My legs hurt and my arms hurt and

1.3 Analyse how national and local guidelines, policies, and procedures for safeguarding affect day to
day work with children and young people
The Government set out legislation and laws for the safeguarding of children and this is passed on to
organisations on a local level for settings to access on a more personal level. This means the setting
has access to a more tailored support that they might benefit from, as well as working with
professionals who are more familiar with the setting in question.
The Suffolk Safeguarding Board is an informative website where all safeguarding policies and
procedures can be accessed. A setting could use this information as guidelines for writing their own
policies and be certain they are implementing information from a national level for use on the ground.
The list of policies they offer include working with children in need to mental health and fostering,
among many other topics, all under the umbrella of safeguarding vulnerable individuals. Its aim is to
ensure that partner organisations are aware of safeguarding arrangements

Essay on Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale
Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale
Love of God replaces love of humanity in Margaret Atwood s, The Handmaid s Tale. Offred s
recollections of her past life, especially of her husband, are ones filled with passion and happiness as
she remembers his tenderness towards her. Much more emphasis is put on the physical human form in
her memories; she often remembers lying with her husband while she wears little or no clothing.
Appreciation of the human form is an essential component of loving humanity. Offred remembers the
love she felt for her friends with whom she enjoyed spending time and conversing. When her friend is
taken away, Offred spends much time mourning the loss of this person from her life. She also longs,

Sex is made into a ritual for two reasons, both of which revolve around worship of God. First it is our
duty as humans to continue the existence of our species because God intended us to. Therefore, if
people cannot be trusted to procreate independently, reproduction must be government managed.
Secondly, sex for any reason other than for reproductive purposes is against God s will, so the
fundamentalist government in the novel eliminates sex that it not government run. For religious
reasons, Offred s mental and physical well being is not viewed as important. To put too much
emphasis on an individual is to give them an importance outside the scope of what God intended. As a
lieutenant of God on earth, Offred is expected to devote her entire being to God without concern for
her own troubles. The government here tries to force on its subjects the ultimate piety, wherein all else
is absent from life except for God. Finally, the human form is given little importance here out of
respect for God. God intended modesty on the part of human beings, therefore there are regulations on
what the women may wear. The loss of basic humanity in favor of piety is the central theme of The
Handmaid s Tale, and it is this theme that I attempted to portray in my collection of images.
It took a long time for me to come up with any ideas for my pictures. The first inspiration that struck

Media Convergence The convergence of media, especially the more traditional media sources taking to the internet, has been both a blessing and a curse. The ability to report on anything in the world at a moment s notice has transformed the idea of journalism. The reporters of today are of no resemblance of the reporters of the past. The folks who would spend weeks tracking down information and sources for a story now spend moments at a laptop accomplishing what they consider to be the same thing. This has caused the current news media to have issues with both integrity and accuracy. In the past, reporters would spend ample amounts of time gathering information, forming their thoughts, and writing the article. Even with the amount of time they spent on this process, there was even more time allotted for checking and double checking their facts to ensure the accuracy and morality of the story. Today s journalists have posted articles just moments after an event. This can be helpful in many ways, but also harmful. Scientists have discovered a pulse within the Sun that lies in the layers of gas that revolve underneath the surface of the Sun. Scientists discovered that the Sun s equatorial region rotates at rate that differs from the rate at which the Sun s polar regions rotate. The equatorial region rotating once every twenty seven days, and the polar regions, every thirty five days. This differential in rotations extends down a third of the way to the Sun s core, in the convection layer. Rotations at the convection layer also differ from the Sun s equatorial and polar regions, taking only fifteen to sixteen days to complete a revolution. It is believed by astronomers that these internal rotating gas layers are in correspondence with eruptions and solar flares on the surface of the Sun. • 14. A Brief Look at Global Warming So what actually is global warming? Obviously the name explains it; the globe becoming warmer. But what does it mean to become warmer ? The sun isn t getting hotter; the world isn t traveling closer to the sun. Global warming is when rapid moving particles collide more and more with other rapid moving particles and are trapped by the atmosphere s thick layer of gas molecules. As more heat is trapped, particles that are in earth s atmosphere collide with each other. As more collisions are present, the average kinetic energy which is the average speed at which the particles collide with one another increases therefore the temperature increases which affects many aspects of life. A predominant factor as to why global warming happens is more gas particles exposed in the air because of an increase in gases produced by industries. Gases such as CO2 and SO2 are constantly harming our environment by regularly adding more harmful gasses into our atmosphere. Due to forest fires, industries, factories, and new found technology such as the car, many harmful gas molecules are surrounding us. These harmful gas molecules collide with our healthy atmospheric particles which make the amount of gas particles increase dreadfully. Since more collisions between these different particles are occurring, the average kinetic energy is raised therefore the temperature increases as well. As more particles are added into the atmosphere, it becomes denser and gasses are getting trapped into our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The objective of this capstone is to have a better understanding of the SMS role in aviation. Safety Management System (SMS), according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a systematic approach to managing safety, such as organizational structures, accountabilities, policies, and procedures (icao.int). Unfortunately, couple years ago, as the aviation industry was getting more and more attention from people, airline owners did not pay attention to safety, it was the race for profit not safety. Customer well being came before employee s satisfaction or health. Consequently, there were more employees injured while working due to the lack of safety; aircraft accidents occurred more frequently and caused the death of hundreds of people, and the loss of equipment. There has been a long debate throughout various forms of literature related to this topic over whether technology is destroying or creating jobs. Taking economic theory into consideration, I have come to the hypothesis that technological changes have shifted the demand for both skilled and unskilled workers; causing a downward shift in demand for low/unskilled workers and causing an upward shift in the demand for skilled workers. Based on substitution and scale effects, technological change creates shifts in labor demand. Because innovation and automation reduces the cost of capital, this also results in substitution and scale effects. In this paper, I will first review three sources of economic research related to my topic. I will summarize their research question, methods and findings. I will then summarize my findings and present some future points to consider. After assessing the various information gathered from prior academic research, I have come to the conclusion that overall skill biased technological change does exist and does in fact affect the demand for skilled and unskilled workers. Stop Cloning Now, the article selected from the February 2003 issue, is an editorial that discusses the subject of cloning. The position that the editor takes is that cloning is just plain evil. The main point presented is that cloning is unsafe and should not be performed under any circumstances. The editorial is divided into several parts covering the topics of why cloning should not be done, what the public thinks about cloning, and what politicians are doing about it. Beginning the editorial with a comparison of cloning scientists to Jack Kevorkian is a very powerful use of pathos. It creates in the mind of the reader the image that both cloning scientists and Jack Kevorkian are evil. There are many people opposed to Dr. Kevorkian and with those who would clone being made into the equivalent of the doctor then those same people should logically be opposed to cloning. Next, the editorial starts to talk about the problems with cloning. The first problem stated is that cloning is unsafe. • 21. Spinoza On Substance Monism The stance that Spinoza has on substance is that there is only one substance, out of which all else is somehow constituated. Substance for the Stoics, is also seen as a monist philosophy. Because Stoics think of the world as a unitary system that contains all beings they should be considered substance monism. This is often cited as the clearest example of how Spinoza was most influenced by Stoic philosophy. However, Spinoza states that there is only one substance, but further from that, he unambiguously signals that understanding it is a prerequisite to understanding the epistemological, psychological, and moral issues where as for the Stoics this is not completely obvious; nor it is obvious that they place substance at the basis of all philosophical investigation. From the Stoic view, they do make philosophical investigation being with nature: we must first learn about it before we can advance to logic and ethics. So upon initial thought, one might think although they may not call it substance, the Stoics do have nature and its conceptual and argumentative status seems similar to that of Spinozistic substance. Therefore, because the Stoics have a concept that is equivalent in key respects to Spinoza s substance, the differences that I stated above may appear not so great after all. What lies at the heart of Stoic monism is the intuition that the world constitutes a genuine and well integrated whole, but by contrast, Spinozistic monism is held to be based on either ... Society has strayed so far away from God that we cannot be guided back home. Yeats begins the poem with the first two lines painting an image of society falling apart and breaking down, one that O Brien refers to as a cultural breakdown. He says, The falcon represents those forces that function productively only when disciplined. In order to maintain structure and to prevent the gyre from widening further, our society needs discipline, otherwise our structure, our faith, or very nature as human beings deteriorates. At this time in our society, our discipline in our faith is gone. Our discipline in our morals and ethics is gone. Lines 3 6 illustrate society s inability to hold together without discipline. Because the falcon can no longer hear the falconer to find its way back home, things fall apart the result of society straying from God. With everything falling apart, the need for someone or something to save society becomes prominent. Since society has strayed away from God, the next solution is man as a savior, but with the new age of war and machinery, mankind has lost their ability to save the world. • 23. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Acetaminophene Acetaminophen (APAP) is one of the most commonly used analgesic and antipyretic drugs worldwide and easily available for use without a prescription. In 2014, over 67,000 people receive an overdose of APAP in the US, among which around 1,200 cases ended with severe liver failure or death [1]. Over the past two decades, considerable effort has been made to understand the mechanisms of APAP hepatotoxicity. Although the complex molecular mechanisms remain speculative, several theories have been proposed to explain APAP induced hepatotoxicity. During metabolism, around 5 10% APAP is biotransformed into a highly reactive metabolite, N acetyl p benzoquinone imine (NAPQI), by several cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYPs) [2]. Normally, hepatic glutathione ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among these cell lines, human hepatocarcinoma cells (HepG2), an easy to handle and inexpensive cell model, is one of most frequently used cell lines in hepatotoxicity studies. HepG2 cells, which are isolated from a hepatoblastoma, exhibit many genotypic characteristics that are crucial for toxicity responses [11, 12]. Indeed, these cells express a low level of CYP2E1, but the expression of other CYPs playing essential roles in APAP metabolism (such as CYP1A1, CYP1A2, and CYP3A4) are comparable with other more metabolic competent human hepatic models, such as HepaRG and primary human hepatocytes (PHH) [13]. CYP2E1, exclusively located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) as well as mitochondria, is an effective ROS generator in cells during catalyzing APAP metabolism to NAPQI [14, 15]. Therefore, HepG2 cells, which has a minimal level of CYP2E1 induced ROS formation, could be a useful model to study the contribution of non CYP2E1 mediated mitochondrial specific oxidative stress in APAP induced hepatic injury. In fact, the CYP2E1 expression and enzyme activity vary substantially in both non compound exposed and compound exposed liver slices obtained from human donors [16, 17]. My orientation in the six areas may or may not compare with the expectations of our society. I am time oriented. This is a very American way of thinking. American schools, businesses, and homes often have a clock in every room, and nearly everyone wears a watch. Each day is organized into time periods of specific length, and use of each period is fully planned. Anniversaries, dates, and historical chronologies also have special importance. I am a holistic thinker. This orientation tends to be present in Hebrew and other non western cultures while dichotomistic thinking lies primarily in the west. This tends to be because westerners tend to use the left hemisphere of the brain which is analytical, logical, precise, and time sensitive, while the non western cultures use the right hemisphere which is holistic, emotional, pattern recognition, and sensory. Although hemispheric dominance limits the creativity of individuals and cultures, the general tendency is towards extremes. Western schooling and religious denominations suppress the concrete, emotional, and synthetic thinkers, while non western cultures suppress their analytic and abstract thinkers. • 41. Individuals Need To Break Our Silence Rhetorical Analysis I thought that this speech was very inspirational and had so much truth behind it. The concept of conflict is very difficult but speaking up and being open about it can and will only solve it whether it be positive or negative. I agree with Margret when she said that the truth won t set us free until we develop the skills, the habit, the talent, and the moral courage to do it. We as individuals need to break our silence. I feel like the speaker was trying to say go out of your way to voice your opinion in simple settings. The more comfortable you become with your own voice and understanding that you are an intelligent human being, it will be easier to do again. Practice voicing your opinion. If you are proved wrong, you are only learning. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This means the setting has access to a more tailored support that they might benefit from, as well as working with professionals who are more familiar with the setting in question. The Suffolk Safeguarding Board is an informative website where all safeguarding policies and procedures can be accessed. A setting could use this information as guidelines for writing their own policies and be certain they are implementing information from a national level for use on the ground. The list of policies they offer include working with children in need to mental health and fostering, among many other topics, all under the umbrella of safeguarding vulnerable individuals. • 45. Essay on Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale Love of God replaces love of humanity in Margaret Atwood s, The Handmaid s Tale. Offred s recollections of her past life, especially of her husband, are ones filled with passion and happiness as she remembers his tenderness towards her. Much more emphasis is put on the physical human form in her memories; she often remembers lying with her husband while she wears little or no clothing. Appreciation of the human form is an essential component of loving humanity. Offred remembers the love she felt for her friends with whom she enjoyed spending time and conversing. When her friend is taken away, Offred spends much time mourning the loss of this person from her life. She also longs, throughout the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sex is made into a ritual for two reasons, both of which revolve around worship of God. First it is our duty as humans to continue the existence of our species because God intended us to. Therefore, if people cannot be trusted to procreate independently, reproduction must be government managed. Secondly, sex for any reason other than for reproductive purposes is against God s will, so the fundamentalist government in the novel eliminates sex that it not government run. For religious reasons, Offred s mental and physical well being is not viewed as important. To put too much emphasis on an individual is to give them an importance outside the scope of what God intended. As a lieutenant of God on earth, Offred is expected to devote her entire being to God without concern for her own troubles. The government here tries to force on its subjects the ultimate piety, wherein all else is absent from life except for God. Finally, the human form is given little importance here out of respect for God. God intended modesty on the part of human beings, therefore there are regulations on what the women may wear. The loss of basic humanity in favor of piety is the central theme of The Handmaid s Tale, and it is this theme that I attempted to portray in my collection of images. It took a long time for me to come up with any ideas for my pictures. The first inspiration that struck when I was trying to find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
