Essay On Animal Captivity
Jess Ramsey English 3 16 May 2017 Captive Creatures Yay or Nay? The issue on whether or not to
keep animals in captivity has been debated heavily for a long time. With species such as the panda on
the verge of extinction to mistreatment of marine mammals in theme parks such as Sea World, keeping
wild animals under the care of humans has been a struggle and a highly controversial topic. Even
though many people believe that animals should not be kept in captivity because humans are incapable
of fully understanding and providing specific needs for wild animals, certain animals can be kept
happy and healthy in captivity, and these animals are an important educational tool for teaching people
of all ages about biology, biodiversity, and the ecosystems of the world. For one thing, many animals
in captivity are animals that were found sick or injured, and are being nursed back to health. Danielle
Pucillo, a previous volunteer at a zoo, states, the zoo where I volunteered rehabilitated various birds of
prey, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Savannah Miller, another author, animals born in captivity are not able to return to the
wild. Miller states, From the first minute of life, animals born in captivity are exposed to humans and
captive animal care customs. Because of brain development patterns and learned behaviors during
infancy, captive infants do not have the ability to survive in their natural habitats. Release creates
anxiety for the animal, as they cannot acclimate to the foreign environment, and eventually they perish
either by predation or exposure. By keeping them in captivity we save them from certain death. Of
course, this could lead to an argument against breeding animals in captivity, but many of the captive
born animals are likely born unintentionally. Releasing captive born animals into the wild may end
with them going right back to captivity, as one of the sick or injured animals in need of

Why I Love To Play Soccer
I ve heard you needed some assistance in soccer. Well, I m here to help. Soccer is a sport of strategy
and technique. You have to enjoy the sport and be passionate. If you play just for the sake of winning,
you don t appreciate it as much. Soccer is a game of passion. If you are not passionate, you will not be
able to play as well. The goal of the game is not to score a goal. It s to challenge yourself to do better.
You may be competing against the other team, but you are truly competing against yourself. When
you kick that soccer ball, your goal is to prove to yourself that you can do anything. Those days when
you give up on playing, are the days that make you believe anything is possible. Those days are the
days that give strength, courage, and determination. Those moments of despair and hardship are signs
that you are succeeding. When you play soccer, you play for yourself. ... Show more content on

The object of the game is to score goals by kicking the ball into the opponent s goal. The true object of
the game is to have fun and be creative. You want to push yourself to make more difficult shots. If you
can t make those shots, try harder. It s not a failure, but simply a learning experience. A failure is not
trying a new way of things. It s being afraid of testing new ideas. Remember, practice makes perfect.
Practice until you feel as, if you are the best player you could be. Never push yourself too much,

Can Corrections Heal?
Reducing Recidivism and Increasing Public Safety in Virginia
Written By: Scott Richeson
Summary Article One
In 2010, the Virginia Department of Corrections (VDOC) began thoroughly investigating its security
measures, programs, human resources and their combined effort in reducing recidivism. VDOC
started to look within the system, and try to make changes internally, wanting to reconstruct the entire
system, making it the main focus of VDOC. Starting with the Article of Robert Martinson s 1974

prison system, psychologists had little hard data to contribute, but in the last few years the importance
of child abuse, poverty, early exposure to substance abuse and other risk factors for criminal behavior.
The findings suggest that individual centered approaches to crime prevention need to be
complemented by community based approaches with programs provided. Researchers have also found
that the pessimistic nothing works attitude toward rehabilitation that helped justify punitive prison
policies in the 1970s was overstated. When properly implemented, work programs, education and
psychotherapy can ease prisoners transitions to the free world. Finally, researchers have demonstrated
the power of the prison environment to shape behavior, often to the detriment of both prisoners and
prison workers. The Stanford Prison Experiment, which Haney co authored in 1973 with Stanford
University psychologist and APA Past president Philip G. Zimbardo, PhD, is one example. It showed
that psychologically healthy individuals could become sadistic or depressed when placed in a prison

Drug Use And Substance Use Disorder Patients
The Unites States is at an epidemic status with substance use disorder patients. There are many
reasons to why we all should be concerned as a nation; however, this very problem is an essential
topic globally. 230 million drug users are found worldwide and 19.9 million of those are Americans
that have used illicit drugs in the year 2007 alone (as cited in Michael s House, n.d); Furthermore,
America makes up 4 percent of the global population and our nation manages to occupy two third of
the illegal drug use worldwide (as cited in Buggle, 2013). The National Institute on Drugs (NIH)
(2011) cited 1.8 million people in the year 2008 admissions were from alcohol and drug use disorder.
Ages greater than 11 years old was implicated in the 23.5 million People seeking substance use
disorder treatment from illicit drug or alcohol in the year 2009. The greatest need for treatment was
leaded by alcohol use with a 41.4 percent, drug related admissions by 20 percent was followed by
heroin and other opiates, and 17 percent was related to Marijuana used in the year 2008 (National
Institute on Drug Abuse, 2011). Men are at a higher rate of substance use disorder than women.
African Americans are at the highest risk of developing substance use disorder as indicated by the
NIH (2011) report, followed by Hispanics, Native Americans and at the lowest, Asian Americans was
implicated. The people who were most likely to seek care were found to be Whites, led by 60 percent,

The Effect Of Administrative Turnover On Curriculum Essay

The Effect of Administrative Turnover on Curriculum
Introduction Even while 15 30% of schools in the United States experience administrative turnover
each year (Béteille, Kalogrides, Loeb, 2011, p. 3), it is very rare for schools to experience it on a
continual basis where it occurs every other year. Yet, this is the case in the school where I work. Over
the past 8 years, the school has had four different administrators in charge of the building and district
(the district is made up of one K 8 school). Each change in leadership has brought with it a change in
educational focus, philosophy, and goals. Though the staff has hailed some changes and hated others,
people s major concern is that there has been little to no consistency in curriculum over the past
decade, particularly in the elementary classrooms. The purpose of this literature review is to identify
the different ways teachers can overcome administrative turnover in order to maintain current
curriculum. This review will also identify the optimal amount of time administrators should remain at
one school and district in order to positively affect student achievement through curriculum
development.
Background
Because the Moonachie School district consists of one K 8 school, it has a superintendent/principal in
charge of all aspects of the district and a director of curriculum who acts more as an assistant principal
than a director of curriculum. Over the last 6 years, the district

Ruby Jewelry
July has arrived, which means if you haven t already, it s time to get your loved one s birthday gift.
With the ruby being the July birthstone, purchasing them ruby jewelry would be ideal. You might want
to rush out the door to the jewelry store, but before you do that, you should ask yourself a few
questions to ensure you get your loved one the perfect piece of jewelry. Here are a few tips for buying
ruby jewelry from a jewelry store in Sterling Heights, MI for a loved one s July birthday. Do they
wear jewelry?: Before you head out to the jewelry store to pick pui loved one a great piece of ruby
jewelry, you want to be sure that this person will actually wear. You may be able to find a beautiful

Do they tend to dress up or dress down? Maybe their personal style is in between. From trendy and
chic to sexy and elegant, whatever you choose should stick to this and be something they can easily
wear and completes their look. What is their lifestyle?: A person s lifestyle can affect a lot of things,
including whether or not they wear jewelry and what kind of jewelry they can wear. You don t want to
just take into account what they do on their free time, think about their profession. For example, if
someone is a chef, they will constantly be using their hands. It might be better to purchase a necklace
or earrings instead of a ring that they will rarely get the chance to wear. Is there anything they don t
currently have in their jewelry collection?: It is always a good idea to purchase something that people
don t already have when you are getting them a gift. Even when buying them jewelry, you want to be
sure they don t currently own the piece you plan to buy or that they don t have anything similar.
Buying the exact same piece of jewelry or something similar to a piece they already own might lead to

Restoration In Louisiana
The New York Times article, Left to Louisiana s Tides, a Village Fights For Time, discusses the plight
of Jean Lafitte, a town of seven thousand people located two miles below the levee protecting New
Orleans. A fourth of Louisiana s wetlands have been lost, much of which is due to intense hurricanes
from 2005 to 2008. It is estimated that a football field worth of wetland disappears every 100 minutes
and that in 200 years the wetlands will be completely gone. This degradation is due to climate change
and human intervention in the area in pursuit of oil and farmland and in the creation of levees. Oliver
A. Houck, a Tulane professor quoted in the article, claims, It is the largest ecological catastrophe in
North America since the Dust Bowl. The loss of the wetlands puts coastal, working class
communities, many of which have lived in the area since the 1800s, in danger of washing away. Local
governments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obviously, it has been largely ignored in how resources are extracted, leading to the issue of wetland
degradation. Oil drilling and driving boats to and from drills eroded large sections of the wetlands.
However, the issue of degradation cannot be completely solved. The Louisiana state government has
acknowledged that even with its restoration program, it cannot build enough land to offset the losses.
Under the principle of stewardship, we understand that the poor are affected first and worst, which is
clearly seen in coastal Louisiana. Not only are the poor affected more because they often live on the
front lines of environmental decay but also because, as a culture, we rush to protect more affluent
communities first. More resources are allocated to protect New Orleans from flooding than coastal
fishing communities like Jean Lafitte. Within the coastal towns though, residents have upheld
stewardship in their communion with the area and reciprocal understanding of how to care for

Pontius Pilate As A Neutral Figure
Many critics argue that Pontius Pilate was either a positive or negative figure; I am going to argue that
he was a neutral figure based on his actions in regards to Jesus s trial, his attempt at getting Jesus
released, and his absolution and refusal in regards to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Mark Powell from
bibleodyssey.org has a very different stance than I do. He argues that Pilate condemned Jesus to death
and had him tortured and crucified . The story of Jesus s trial and crucifixion was told in all four of the
Gospels and all of the stories vary in some manner. John 18 and 19 as well as Luke 23 show different
sides of Pilate and the dilemma he faced with this situation. There is also a historical context that must
be taken into consideration to truly understand Pilate s position with regards to the trial and
crucifixion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The duties that came with this position included everything from collecting taxes to maintaining law
and order among the people (Biography.com). In Matthew 27, Pilate questioned Jesus but did not
formally accuse or charge him. Jesus silence towards the accusations levied against him instead
brought Pilate amazement. In the Gospel of Luke 23:4, 13 15 Pilate finds no guilt in Jesus so he sends
him to King Herod. King Herod also finds no guilt in Jesus so he sends him back to Pilate who once
again declares that he has not found this man guilty of any of your charges against him. Looking at the
multitude of texts surrounding the trial of Jesus Christ, it would seem that Pilate was judging on
neutral ground and doing his duty to the best of his

The Is Like A Rope Of Sand
All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of
reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses
against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18 19 NIV) I spoke
yesterday how life is like a rope of sand. You can t hold onto it, no matter how hard you try. We also
can t predict what might happen at any moment. My heart has been heavy this past week over the
shooting in Oregon. I think about the conversations at breakfast. Plans being made for the weekend or
perhaps just for the afternoon. And then in one senseless evil moment nine lives were lost and an
entire community was shaken to its very core. Every indicator at this point says that the shooter, for
whatever reason, was targeting Christians. I say this with caution because when events like this
happen its difficult to completely get a true accounting of the events. BUt let it suffice to say, at this
moment the targeting of Christians seems to be the case. How are we, as the church, to respond to
something like this? That s not idle question. We may focus more on an event like this because it
happens in our own country, but perhaps it ought to wake us up to the truth that Christians are being
persecuted all over the world. Always have been, really, in one form or another. Consider, just in the
past year or two we have seen a systematic mass murdering of

Compare and Contrast Apple and Samsung Essay
Essay Title: Compare, Contrast and Evaluate Apple and Samsung Companies.
Word Count: 918
The purpose of this essay is to compare, contrast and evaluate the two major competitor companies:
Apple and Samsung. This essay begins by discussing the market value of the both companies. It will
then turn to discussing the product portfolios of Apple and Samsung, and then examines the service
and it concludes by evaluation.
Firstly, Apple is very similar to Samsung with respect to the size of the companies. Steve Jobs and
Steve Wozniak, two important people who were expelled from a college, founded Apple Company in
1976, when the first Apple computer was released. (Nostoptechnology, 2009) Unlikely to Apple,

As a matter of fact there is always someone from the staff that helps customers with their issues,
whether it is about the computer or the phone. In other words, Apple s staff is called Genius Bar staff,
they guide customers and make orders for repairs. (Apple, 2012) In contrast to Apple, Samsung
website does not provide such information, however, it is possible to make a call, e mail about the
customers issues or just visit the store. (Samsung, 2012) As well as Genius Bar, Apple (2012) provides
customers with on line support and opportunities to gather help over the phone, moreover, the website
is clear and understandable.
Even though, Samsung Company exists longer than Apple Company, it has number of major
advantages and disadvantages. One of the biggest disadvantages of Samsung is that it has lost in the
court against Apple and was forced to pay huge amount of money to Apple, thus undermining the
authority of the company as a whole. On the other hand, the advantage of the Samsung is that it exists
longer than Apple Company and has its well established world known brand and customer loyalty.
Similarly to Samsung, Apple is also well known company and advantage of that is that it is still
growing company and has tendency to expand even more. According to the aspects described above,
there are no major disadvantages related to Apple, which makes this company looks better comparing
to others.
It may therefore

The Beach Carrier Essay example
Q1: What is the nature of the product? What are its strengths and weaknesses?
A1: The Beach Carrier is a new product concept developed by Mary Ricci. It is a large, lightweight,
durable bag that is designed to carry everything required for a day at the beach, including a chair. The
Beach Carrier can be folded down to a 12 inch by 12 inch square for easy storage when not in use. It
comes with an adjustable strap and various sized pockets for carrying all types of items to the beach or
other outdoor activities (i.e. concerts, picnics, and barbecues).

4. The fluorescent colors of the Beach Carrier are see through and considered trendy , lessening the
perceived quality of the bag.
Q2: What are the limitations to the assumptions Ricci has made in determining the market potential?
What risks do these present?
A2: In assessing the market potential for the Beach Carrier, there are several assumptions that Ricci
made that could significantly impact the overall market share potential. These include the following:
1. First of all, Mary Ricci has made the general and often popular assumption that bigger is better .
However, a 36 inch by 36 inch bag is huge and would be extremely heavy if completely filled. People
may prefer to have a smaller bag and limit the items that they bring to the beach or on another outing.
2. Second, the Beach Carrier utilizes an adjustable shoulder strap for carrying and Mary has assumed
that this method would not be viewed as a negative when compared to the Caddy Shack (backpack
type) or the Wonder Wheel (oversized wheels). However, many consumers would likely view these
other carrying methods as an advantage, especially if one is packing lots of stuff including chairs and
umbrellas.
3. Next, Mary based her market research on all people who use suntan and/or sunscreen products. This
may be a significant overstatement of the market as many people who use these products

Hard Times Mr Bounderby Analysis
Hard Times Charles Dickens is a novel set in the Industrial Revolution. Hard Times focuses on the
role of the rich during this era and their impact on the society, one example being their pride in their
success. Dickens portrays this with the character Mr. Bounderby. Mr. Bounderby is known as the
Bully of humility, he is a man who pretends to be humble but is very much the complete opposite. He
puts himself before others not caring about the outcome or consequences that may come further on
such as people belittling his success. He pays little to no attention to other people s emotional state and
the situations they may be dealing with doing this with both Stephen, Mrs.Sparsit and Louisa. He
devotes his time ensuring that others know he is almost superior and manipulates others making sure
of it. Mr. Bounderby s pride throughout the novel causes his reputation to plummet and causes people
to think very differently of him. Mr. Bounderby is very successful; he claims to be a self made man
owning a bank and factory and being very well known throughout Coketown. To become a successful
man, Mr. Bounderby explains that he grew up with his drunken grandmother after his mother had left
him. He had to educate himself in the streets and had to work up to where he is now. He uses Louisa, a
young girl who has been asked to marry Mr. Bounderby by her father and Mrs. Sparsit; his
housekeeper (someone who tends the house and makes sure others are doing their job) to brag and

Character Foils In Vaclav And Lena
In the novel Vaclav and Lena, Haley Tanner employs the use of many character foils. Characters are
placed into similar roles and the behavior of one character accentuates the traits of another, more
major character. This is particularly prominent among the women who act as Lena s guardians. Two of
the most important women in Lena s life are Radoslava and Rasia. Radoslava Dvorakovskaya is an
elderly woman who Lena lives with when she is very young. Radoslava passes away and Lena moves
in with her aunt. In her new neighborhood, she meets a boy named Vaclav and his mother, Rasia, who
quickly becomes a guardian of Lena as well. Radoslava is a foil for Rasia because while both serve as
maternal figures for Lena, Radoslava s failures as a caring guardian highlight Rasia s devotion and
kindness.
Radoslava s self centeredness calls attention to Rasia s attentiveness. Radoslava s actions make it clear
that she considers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Radoslava is quick to yell at Lena, saying, Yelena! I am old and I am dying, and you have ruined my
last years of peace (169). Radoslava blames Lena for everything and considers her to be a stain on her
life. Radoslava does not fulfill her role as a kind maternal figure in this case as she makes it very clear
that she does not want to be in this situation. On the other hand, Rasia and her son Vaclav enjoys
helping Lena and consider it a blessing rather than a burden. They are more than willing to meet Lena
and become acquainted with her, both of them knowing that they were doing something nice (68).
Rasia and Vaclav find pleasure in knowing that they are doing a good deed. Unlike Radoslava, Rasia
is unconditionally caring. Radoslava only does things for her own good and the moment things get
difficult she immediately pushes the responsibility onto Lena. The way Radoslava treats Lena serves
as a harsh contrast to the way that Rasia willingly takes on the burden of acting like a mother for

Secondary School Of Computing And The Arts
Introduction
Lostcause secondary school of computing and the Arts has asked us to design a new computer class
room to support both subjects of computing and arts, and since both arts and computing are both
excellent standard, we would need to match its excellent status. This would have a room where half of
the room which would be specialised in both specified, where if it was for arts, there would be added
software like Photoshop, and other editing software. I would say having one half of the room for arts
and the other half computing make sense because students will know where to find themselves for
specified subjects. Or they can be mixed but as long as there is specific software being added.
In this assignment, we would need to look ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
User requirements
In this section, we shall be talking about what is required to have an appropriate ICT solution for
computing and arts class. This will cover what is needed, what hardware and software are needed.
What needed/ specific computers/specific devices
There will be a lot needed into making the class to have computers which will support both subjects.
This is because computing and art are different subjects and having to bring both subjects together
could demand a lot. Computers will be the key feature to making this class. When it comes to setting
up the computers, we have a budget of £5500 on each computer.
There is more into art than just having a pen and drawing or painting pictures on a paper. The
technology has advanced and discovered new kind of art within computers. Most of the modern day
computers can support computing and basic art. In order to have a fully functioning computer that can
cover both subjects is having to get suitable software and having the right aspects in a computer. You
don t want to be buying a computer and having to install a software which will reduce the
performance of the computer. It s important to know the aspects of a computer before buying.
The most suitable computers we would recommend are apple based computers, HP, Dell and
Samsung. These are big brands and most reliable. There are more computer companies that are
suitable for both computing and arts but for now we choose to call out the big

I am a firm believer that empathy is essential in life. I always try to put myself in others shoes and my
experience with Process drama allowed me to do just that. As Baldwin says Drama situations may
portray real life situations , and because of this I feel that it is excellent if these situations become
realistic as the children will already have experience with the situation. Drama makes immediate
something that is distant and vice versa Our lecturer said this and it really grasped my attention and I
believe this really signifies just how important it is to discover empathy through drama. In our
workshops conflict and tension were created in or participation of drama we as students had to resolve
this conflict and as a result we gained experiences on how to resolve this problems in real life, If this
was achieved with children in a drama lesson it would most definitely coincide with the idea of
(Kitson,2005) that this would aid their learning and help them think of new

To What Extent Are Romeo and Juliet Responsible for Their...
Romeo and Juliet is the tragic story of two young lovers, longing to be together but kept apart by their
families. They prove their love for each other by going behind their parents backs to meet, to be
together and to be married before meeting an untimely death. Deciding who is ultimately responsible
for their tragic end can be difficult as there are so many people who play a significant role in their
lives and who have an influence on how the play unfolds. Firstly, although Romeo and Juliet are the
protagonists of the play that doesn t mean they do not share in some of the blame. Their courtship was
very brief, the play spans less than a week, so it could be argued that they rushed into their marriage
without properly planning anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Out on her, hilding! Act 3 Scene 5 Line 167 168 Once again, the rebellious nature of teenagers could
come into play; Capulet wants Juliet to marry Paris but she remains stubborn. This is also a great
example of how the parents in the play pay little notice to what their children want. In this scene Juliet
makes it obvious that her happiness doesn t lie with Paris yet her father ignores this and tells her to
marry him or be disowned. However some people will step up to defend the parents and suggest they
only wanted the best for their children, like any parent does. Perhaps what was best was that Romeo
and Juliet should not have met. We don t know the full details of the feud, perhaps no one in the play
does, there may be a good reason for it but there may not. Also, nowadays it is perhaps easier to say
the parents are to blame for being absent as we are used to seeing parents play a much larger role in
their children s lives. This play was written in Elizabethan times when it was common for noble
families, such as the Capulets and Montagues, to employ a nurse to raise their children. One cannot
really fault the parents if, in Elizabethan society s eyes, they were acting accordingly. On the subject
of society, arranged marriages were probably common as well between wealthy families and were
seen as the normal and proper thing. It would have been the parents duty to see their children were
well matched and that is

That Summer And The Crown Analysis
Someone once said, Your capability is admirable beyond words, so do not be afraid to show it . In the
books That Summer and The Crown this theme is demonstrated by the protagonist numerous times.
Without question, Haven from That Summer may be lonely, but Eadlyn from The Crown is capable
which is far more admirable.
Without a doubt, a tremendously capable character in the book The Crown by Kiera Cass would be
Eadlyn Schreave. To be capable is to be able to do the task at hand. One example that Eadlyn is
capable is how she runs an entire kingdom so her dad can stay with her mother because her mom was
sick. Running a huge kingdom at 18 years of age is a huge responsibility and Eadlyn was able to do it
by enlisting her closest staff to come on a team to assist her. Another example that Eadlyn is capable is
how she stopped a massive war from happening, due to her brother marrying the Queen of France and
giving up his royal status. Eadlyn had to go against an entire congress of old men that wanted to start
sending an army to France. It proved Eadlyn was capable of doing anything a man could do, and that
she did not need to find a husband to rule over Illéa. In closing, Eadlyn Schreave from the book The
Crown by Kiera Cass, is an extremely capable young lady.
Without question, Haven from the book That Summer By Sarah Dessen is a lonely character. Lonely
means that a person is closed off and isolated from other people. One example that Haven is lonely is
that her

Why Did The South End Reconstruction Essay
The South Ends Reconstruction The reconstruction was an era when African Americans tried to fit in
and to rebuild the South. The reconstruction started in 1876. Some troops started to leave the South.
The KKK was also starting to rebel against the government. The North took their focus of
reconstruction and focused on scandals. This essay is trustworthy because I used primary sources. The
South was the cause for the end of the reconstruction because the KKK was killing people, KKK was
forcing people to vote democratic ticket, and South did nothing about the KKK. The South ended
reconstruction because the KKK was killing many people. A piece of evidence is ...foully murdered by
the Ku Klux... (Tourgee). The KKK is killing government officials just because of their support
toward reconstruction. Another piece of evidence is that in the cartoon it shows a donkey with the
KKK who hung scalawags and carpetbaggers (Klan Cartoon). The cartoon shows the KKK is
targeting scalawags and carpetbaggers because they support reconstruction. A counterclaim to go
against the claims would be everyone is fighting in the courthouse (Colored Rule in a Reconstructed
State). The South ended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A quote to support the idea is ...ever vote another damned radical ticket ... (Colby). This demonstrates
the KKK wanted the democrats to win and forced others to vote democrat. In the cartoon it shows to

The KKK is starting to threaten people with guns for them to support their beliefs. A counterclaim for
this reason would be ...Northern Voters shifted their attention ... (Danzer). The North started to shift
away from the topic of reconstruction. The South ended the reconstruction because the KKK forced

Barbie is a Good Role Model Essay
Barbie is a Good Role Model
As a young girl the fondest memory was playing with all my Barbie dolls and having the time of my
young youth. Getting new Barbie s for my birthday and Christmas was the highlight for my friends
and I every year, and comparing which dolls the others got with each other. Never once growing up
did any of us feel that Barbie was bad for us to play with, or that she was a bad role model. She could
be anything that she wanted to be and her friends were all different too. Barbie was just a doll that we
could make say what ever we wanted to, and we let our imaginations make each doll have their own
personality. Our mothers played with them when they were our age and turned out pretty well, and no

Girls liked playing with toy dolls that they could make say and do what ever they wanted, and they
could live in a fantasy world with their friends. Boys liked playing with their toy trucks and tools
because it was fun to run things over and play with toys in the dirt, or with the tools, they act like they
could actually be like older boys or their fathers and build stuff. Neither one of the toys that the boys
played with seemed that it would scar them for life. With Barbie they more and more have made her a
more positive role model by having her say encouraging things. So when it comes down to it, how a
young boy plays with his toys is the same as how a young girl plays with her Barbie s because they
both just want to have fun with a toy, and they can make it do whatever they wanted. Young children
could have control over something which both genders liked to do.
Barbie s intelligence has been one of the most debated topics about the doll. While some say that she
is just a bimbo, others find her to be a positive role model with all that Barbie can be. Schroeder says
that by playing with a Barbie that was either a Doctor Barbie or a Vet Barbie will send a young girl to
a therapist, and the infamous quote that one Barbie said Math class is tough (Schroeder 2). While
some of the things that Barbie used to be about looked badly upon the dolls intelligence there have

bacteria, as well as the recurrence of known food pathogens, has received research attention in
Nutrition and Food Science. The unusual dietary pattern and nutrition affect the microbial population
in the human gut (Probiotic), with an ample effect on the immune system and human health. To
understand the interactions of gut microflora with food and nutrients, and their potential involvement
in disease etiology and human health, novel approaches tailored from various disciplines are required.

Understanding The Roots Of Crime
One may avoid negativity for any kind of reason. One may be distressed by it, or perhaps one may
find negativity traumatizing to their emotions. Whatever it may be, some people attempt to dodge any
sort of negativity. The topic of my independent novel serves to not only challenge the idea of avoiding
any kind of depressing news, but to bring light to new ways of thinking that humanity should adopt
should we want to understand the roots of crime. Furthermore, we should use our knowledge of these
roots to prevent crime.

Later still, Sylvia was accused of spreading rumors that Paula and Stephanie Baniszewski were
prostitutes at Arsenal Technical High School. This provoked Stephanie s boyfriend, Coy Hubbard to
flip Sylvia onto the floor and bang her head against the wall. Gertrude encouraged other neighborhood
children floating in and out of the house to flip Sylvia and burn her with cigarettes. Torture became the
neighborhood game. What served as Gertrude s pretense for keeping Sylvia out of school is the
alleged theft of a gym suit.
Soon after, Sylvia became incontinent, and Gertrude locked her in the basement. A bathing regime
came into action; every other day, Sylvia was burned with scalding water. She was starved and often
kept naked. Grosser indignities were to follow, with Gertrude continuing to authorize Sylvia s torture

A few days before her death, Gertrude decided that Sylvia deserved to be branded after she branded

Doping is a Fool’s Game
All athletes of all sports on a professional level must be required to undergo drug testing for
performance enhancing drugs prior to participating in any sporting event to ensure an equal level
playing field for all competing athletes, no matter the sport. Furthermore, performance enhancing
drugs are illegal and must remain this way in order to keep fairness in the competitive world of sports.
The bottom line is that athletes should not be able to do performance enhancing drugs and continue to
be allowed to performance in these sports. The unfairness of doing these drugs does not allow for a
fair game. Ultimately, these cheating athletes are superior in the field and dominate the other athletes
that do not take steroids and how can you call that a fair game when the athletes are not equal in
performance due to a enhancing drug.
To further the argument, performance enhancing drugs must remain against the law to protect the
athlete s health and well being. If today s athletes are going to be so careless and take these drugs, we
as a society must step in and take control of what these athletes are putting in their bodies. And if they
continue to break the law by taking performance enhancing drugs, then they must suffer the
consequences by possibly being banned from the sport for an extended period of time or a lifetime
ban, which is would a result of their salaries and livelihood, endorsements and possible prison time.
We must take this issue with more than a grain

Airline Passenger Bill of Rights
In 2006 the FlyersRights.org was formed by Kate Hanni because she and her family were stranded for
9 hours on the tarmac in Austin, Texas. They were not allowed to leave the aircraft and were forced to
endure the heat and smells filling the cabin from the on board lavatories. The passenger Bill of Rights
was not new at that time, FlyersRights.org stated The bill, which had been stalled in Congress since at
least 1999, allows passengers the option of getting off delayed planes after 3 hours on the ground, and
requires airlines to provide adequate food, water, temperature controls, ventilation and working toilets
to accommodate a 3 hour delay (FlyersRights.org, 2013). Due to Kate Hanni s persistence her
congressman Democrat Mike Thompson introduced legislation which would force airlines to allow
passengers to deplane after 3 hours on the tarmac. In 2007 Democrat Senator Barbra Boxer and
Republican Senator Olympia Snowe joined in bipartisanship to introduce S.678 IS Airline Passenger
Bill of Rights Act of 2007 this bill s intent is To amend title 49, United States Code, to ensure air
passengers have access to necessary services while on a grounded air carrier and are not unnecessarily
held on a grounded air carrier before or after a flight, and for other purposes (The Library of Congress,

Theme Of Sunday In The Park By Bel Kaufman
Themes of Sunday in the Park The short story Sunday in the Park by Bel Kaufman contains many
different themes. A theme presented in this story is how society expects certain behaviors on the roles

described city pale and cooped up all week inside the gray factory like university . Morton is a

Social Learning And Environmental Determinants Of Psychopathy
Social Learning and Environmental Determinants of Psychopathy
Psychopathy is a disorder caused by biological, environmental, and psychological factors that result in
both interpersonal/affective deficits and social deviance/antisocial behaviors. It can be broken down
into primary psychopathy and secondary psychopathy. Primary psychopathy mainly encompasses the
interpersonal/affective components of psychopathy, such as superficial charm, lack of empathy,
remorse or guilt, and manipulative tactics. These aspects of psychopathy are typically life long and
caused by biological deficits. Secondary psychopathy involves the social deviance/antisocial
behaviors components of psychopathy, such as impulsive behavior, aggression, lack of responsibility,
and need for excitement. These aspects are typically more attributable to the environmental
determinants of psychopathy. Psychopathy, unlike Antisocial Personality Disorder, includes both
conduct and personality components.
There are several different determinants that can impact psychopathy, including childhood abuse or
trauma, parental bonding and attachment styles, and community or peer influences. These
environmental determinants interact with biological determinants in a process known as biological
embedding. All of these factors play a role in epigenetics, which is the altering of a gene s function
without altering the gene s structure or sequence. Understanding the contributing factors of
psychopathy is both relevant and

Dysphagia Essay
Copstead and Banasik (2013) explain the pathophysiologic basis for dysphagia can fall under three
categories:
(1) problems in delivery of the bolus of food or fluid into the esophagus as a result of neuromuscular
incoordination ; (2) problems in transport of the bolus down the body of the esophagus as a result of
altered esophageal peristaltic activity ; (3) problems in bolus entry into the stomach as a result of
lower esophageal sphincter (LES) dysfunction or obstructing lesions (p. 721).
In the first category of dysphagia, individual have a decreased ability to accomplish the initial steps of
swallowing in an orderly sequence (Copstead Banasik, 2013, p. 721). The normal process of
swallowing starts with the contraction of pharynx, which then leads to the closure of the epiglottis and
results in the relaxation of the upper esophageal sphincter (Copstead and Banasik, 2013). After the
relaxation of the upper esophageal sphincter, there is an initiation of peristalsis by contraction of the
striated muscle in the upper portion of the esophagus is altered, or the certain steps in the sequence
may be absent (Copstead Banasik, 2013, p. 721). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
721). Three causes of this are due to diverticula, achalasia, and structural disorders. Esophageal
diverticula cause outpouching which results in one or more layers in the esophageal wall (Copstead

2013, p. 721). Structural disorders may interfere with proper peristaltic activity in the esophagus , thus
results in peristalsis may be simply weak peristaltic activity, aperistalsis, or disorganized and therefore
ineffective peristalsis (Copstead Banasik, 2013, p.

Solidarity Reflection
From this class, I have learned how South Asian Americans have been racialized and how they have
been treated differently compared to other marginalized people in the U.S. By studying the narratives
of South Asians and other minority groups, I gained the knowledge about racism, colonialism,
capitalism and imperialism and the government s politics strategies. Through the learning histories, I
developed my empathy with the struggles of immigrant, racial and minority community and
understood how to build solidarity with each other. I think the studying about the history of different
ethnic group, nation, and gender is important because it helps us to see violent activities that we
caused to another and it also reminds us to not do the same mistakes. I found myself engaged to the
struggles of race, class and gender according to the experiences of myself and other people in my life.
I have experienced the similar racial discrimination at work place where some white people acted, as I
am not good enough to be part of their community and treated me with disrespect. I also feel the same
in my country, where some Burmese people would not like to hang out with people from darker skin
color and lower class. I have heard the stories of my mom in law who is from China, where women
were treated differently versus men. They were not allowed to study education and could not pursue
their goals.

The Creation Of Islam Throughout Ad 662
The creation of Islam in AD 662 spread very widely within a century and brought on a whole cultural
phenomenon . Muslims contribute to knowledge through the creation and addition of Arabic numerals,
positional notation, algebra, calculations in astronomy, medical analyses, and new poetry techniques.
Islam contributions to design are distinctive, richly colorful, and highly imaginative. (Newton 30) The
militant Arabs took over Syria, and then took over Egypt in AD 640. Sixty years later they spread to
the south Mediterranean coast, reaching the Atlantic. Through similar interests of conquest, the Arabs
were drawn into Spain. The Muslims traveled across the Strait of Gibraltar in AD 711. Despite
resistance from southern regions, they conquered successfully. (Jellicoe 40) By AD 712, Muslims
occupied Seville and Cordoba. The Muslim part of Spain stands independently and survives for eight
centuries. (Newton 31) Muslims arrive in Spain and influence regions knowledgably, architecturally
and through use of the land. Despite the later Spanish Christian revival, areas in the South of the
peninsula, Cordoba and Seville still contain layered Islamic attributes. The space extending past the
architecture is an opportunity that engages so many aspects. Architecture must go beyond architecture
and rewrite its definition to embrace the challenges of society, responding with a new critical
discourse on social and technical levels (Serageldin 11 12). Muslims were able to

APA Code Of Ethics In Organizational Psychology
Milestone Three
Vignette
Vignette 10 53, page 341, Professor Mann harangues Ms. Freeman for not understanding some
concepts in his organizational psychology course. He uses her questions to berate her, and all women,
claiming that women do not have a head for business or organizational psychology. His discrimination
against women is unethical, as is his abuse of power over his students (Koocher Keith Spiegel, 2016).
The APA Code of Ethics Principles
1. Beneficence and Nonmaleficence
Psychological professionals need to help those with whom they work with or help, and make an effort
to do no harm. This includes conflict resolution with coworkers, student, clients, and participants, as
well as ensuring that any personal, financial, social, organizational or political factors are considered
(Code of Ethics, 2017). Professor Mann berated his student in front of his class, he discriminated
against women as a whole, and caused harm to the women s movement, as well as the women in his
class.
2. Fidelity and Responsibility
Professional psychologists understand their responsibility, both professional and scientific, within the
communities they live and work. They will behave in a professional manner, and accept responsibility
for their behavior. Professional psychologists are aware of, and abide by ethical standards, and expect
those they work with to, as well (Code of Ethics, 2017). Professor Mann did not behave in a
professional manner, and did not take responsibility

The Issue Of Safe Sex On College Campuses
1. Using the guidelines for choosing a theory found in the Hayden textbook; discuss the issue of safe
sex on college campuses. You need to briefly discuss the 5 steps and identify relevant information for
each step. i.e. in step 1, tell me why safe sex is a pertinent topic given the population. Provide
justification/supporting data as necessary. The five steps for choosing a theory include the following:
identify the health issue or problem and the population affected, gather information about the issue or
population or both, identify possible reasons or causes for the problems, identify the level of
interaction (intrapersonal, interpersonal, or community) under which the reason or causes most
logically fit, and identify the theory or theories that best match the level and the reasons or causes.
Step one is to identify the health issue or problem and the population affected. Safe sex is a pertinent
topic for college students, because it is a known fact that many young adults experiment with sex in
college. Some researchers have found that the younger population today is participating in more
casual sex. In other words instead of sexual relationships being just between a boyfriend and a
girlfriend they often are between friends or casual acquaintances. Considering that college students
fall into the young adults category it would be pertinent to provide education on safe sex. Step two
involves gathering information about the issue or population or both. Safe sex

Summary Of The Last Of The Mohicans
Throughout Cooper s novel the reader and Hawkeye are provided with many oppositions and
situations based on Culture, Race, and Geography that creates many tensions throughout the novel.
The Last of the Mohicans tends to be centered on the Character Hawkeye, a pathfinder and pioneer
that links the wilderness and civilization as mediation. The text itself is driven to be a generic paradox
and an encompassing narrative, the history with romance and the disagreement between fact and
fiction. Cooper uses a blend of facts and fiction in many scenarios. The third year of the Indian and
French War The Last of The Mohicans suppresses the boundaries or outlines that divide literature and
history in order to create a narrative of American, within which the real man can be understood.
Hawkeye, who is so to say a typical American is between the fiction and fact boundary. He links the
people and the actual events of the period of time to fit right in to Coopers genre. The Indian Nations,
Fort William Henry massacre, Colonel Munroe, and Marquis de Montcalm are all based on fact but
then Cooper intertwines significant romance. Coopers chosen genre, historical romance, is based on
the movement between the stages of cultural development or hostile civilizations. It allows cultural
self awareness and analysis, which allows the narrative expression. In a traditional narrative love is a
quest rather than a cultural analysis. The texts movement tracks the hero as he or she enters the

Similarities Between To The Virgins And To His Coy Mistress
In both To the Virgins, To Make Much of Time and To His Coy Mistress the topic of seduction is
present. In Herrick s poem the speaker urges the maidens to be not coy...and while ye may, go marry
(13 14). The speaker suggests to the young maidens that being coy will postpone any prospects of
marrying young. The speaker encourages these young women to use their youth, beauty, and
femininity and seduce a possible suitor. He implies that being excessively flirtatious without the result
of marriage will leave unmarried and miserable. The speaker is not only instructing the virgins to
seduce but seduce with marriage in mind. Unlike Herrick s seduction with the intent of marriage,
Marvell s speaker seduces his lover without the thought of marriage. ... Show more content on

Time. In both of these poems, there is an emphasis on time or the lack of time. In Herrick s work, the
speaker uses symbolism to describe time. He says, And this same flower that smiles today/ Tomorrow
will be dying (Herrick 809). The flower represents girls who are young and beautiful. The speaker
personifies the flower to illustrate how young girls are smiling brightly and happy in their prime. The
dying of the flower is the death of youth and the beginning of aging. Once aged it is harder for women
to find potential suitors for marriage; this is a warning from the speaker to the young maidens. While
Herrick s speaker uses time as a notice for inevitable aging Marvell s speaker uses the lack of time as
the reason to consummate their love. To the speaker of Marvell s work time is both precious and
viewed as an enemy. The speaker states, Had we but world enough, and time/ this coyness, lady, were
no crime (Marvell 826). The speaker tells the women he loves that if he had an indefinite amount of
time and space he can accept her reluctance to sleep with him. Her coyness is seen as a crime because
it is wasting time he does not have; the time he would rather spend with her in bed. To the man
flirtation has gone on longer than he would have liked and he is starting to view her as a criminal. A
criminal who arouses him and denies him his pleasures. However, he makes her seem less like a
criminal by assuring that if it had not been for the issue of time he would happily partake in endless

Introduction
Enzymes are molecules that catalyzes a chemical reaction by either increasing or
decreasing the chemical reaction up to an extent. Inhibitors are substances which slows
down a chemical reaction by reducing the activity of either a catalyst, substrates or the
enzymes. Most of the enzymes are proteins. They lower the activation energy of a certain
chemical reaction. Activation energy is a certain amount of energy required for the
reactants to convert in to products. If they cross the energy barrier, they convert in to
products. So enzymes don t allow the substrates to cross the barrier by lowering the
activation energy. Enzyme s characteristic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hypothesis is an explanation for an observed phenomenon that can be tested. In this
experiment there are different factors affecting the enzyme activity like determining
baseline reaction kinetics, varying substrate concentration, effect of changing pH on
enzyme activity, and determining the effect of other factors on enzyme activity. Each factor
had a stated hypothesis like the enzyme activity will slow down for the substrate
concentration. For a pH closer to 7 the enzyme activity increases and adding galactose
which is the product increases the enzyme activity slowly. Hypothesis is a declared

Application Essays:
1. Describe your interest in participating in Bike and Build. What is it about this opportunity that most
excites you? What qualities will you bring to your team? What do you hope to get out of this
experience? How do you envision this experience affecting your future?
Some people are great at sports, some people are great at music; I am an amateur at that. I am a great
volunteer. One of my favorite concepts in Judaism is Tikkun Olam, or Repair the World. In Hebrew
school, I was taught that we have an obligation to help others. I am most passionate about
volunteering and making the world a better place. Throughout high school, I devoted hundreds of
hours to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Youth United and ReStore, among other projects. In
college, I volunteer as Vice President of Service for Alpha Phi Omega, a co ed service fraternity, and
spend about 150 hours per semester volunteering. The opportunity to participate in Bike and Build
will affect my future goals in volunteerism, working with non profits and continuing to advocate for
the affordable housing cause.
I am motivated, enthusiastic, patient, helpful and independent. My older brother and I have always
been rather competitive, which is why I enjoy challenges. Other than the physical challenge of this
opportunity, I hope to connect with the other riders and locals in the communities that we visit and
help. After backpacking through Europe during my semester abroad, and

Hernan Cortez Accomplishments
Did you know that past explorers were known to travel for riches and fame? They just wanted to be
known, and be able to say they were there, and seen many things; or the accomplishments they have
made. For instance, Hernan Cortez was born in 1485 in Medellin, Spain. He was a Spanish
conquistador who defeated the Aztec Empire and claimed Mexico for Spain. He also studied at the
university of Salamanca. In 1504, he traveled to Santo Domingo and settled in a town called Azua and
served as a notary. In 1515, he joined the expedition of Cuba led by Diego Velazquez and served as
the mayor of Santiago. In 1518, he set sail to Mexico with eleven ships and five hundred men. By
1519, he reached the Mexican coast.
Some hardships Cortez faced included him becoming allies with natives, and others. he used deadly
force to conquer Mexico. He fought Tiaxacan and Cholula warriors. He marched to Tenochtitlan and
captured the ruler Montezuma II., although , he had to leave because the Spanish troops were coming
to arrest him for disobeying orders. But he did return later because the Spanish was set out by the
Aztecs. In 1515, he conquered the Aztecs and King Charles appointed him to be the governor of New
Spain. Some interesting facts about Hernan Cortez was that after he conquered the Aztecs, his
authority and position was questioned, and they also formed a rebellion against him. Between 1540
1547, he spent time being recognized for his achievements, and support from the Spanish royal courts.
Unlike modern day explorers like Neil Armstrong who studies science and have passion for things in
space.
Neil Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio on August 5, 1930. Neil Armstrong was the first man
to walk on the moon. After serving as naval aviator from 1949 to 1952 he joined the National
Advisory Committee Aeronautics (NACA) in 1955. His first assignment was with NACA Lewis
research center (NASA) in Cleveland. Over the next 17 years he was an engineer, test pilot, astronaut
and administrator for NACA and its successor agency, the national aeronautics and space
administration (NASA). Neil Armstrong became an astronaut in 1962. He was assigned a command
for Gemini 8 mission. Gemini was launched on March 16, 1966 and Armstrong

Questions On Foreign Agents And International Property Owners
6. How to Find Foreign Realtors
How can you find some proper foreign realtors and contact them directly if as a property owner you
want to bypass your local realtors (or cannot find any with the foreign connections) and pay only the
foreign part of the real estate commission? Or are you just this local realtor or a developer and willing
to find a partner in sales in a foreign country to send you buyers? For that you have to go to the
foreign internet with the help of a bilingual person at your side and search there for advertisers of
properties for sale from your country or area or city to further ask them to become your business
partners. The foreign real estate agents who advertise international properties in the foreign internet or
print media (with online editions that you can see in the internet) are especially interesting to
international property owners, real estate agents and developers of many countries of the world in the
following two aspects:
1. These foreign agents already show their specific interest in selling properties from a particular
country that they advertise to their buyers, and as they obviously spend money on ads it means that
they are serious about working with this country, have expertise in this country real estate and can
advise their buyers accordingly;
2. They might already have some prospective foreign buyers for properties from this particular
country because of their recent ads. If you are a property owner or real

How Does Willy Russell Create Mood and Atmosphere in the...
In the Summer Sequence Willy Russell s three main protagonists are shown to grow up from the ages
of 15 to 18, thus becoming adults throughout the song. This means that the sequence acts as a
watershed in the respect that it marks a major turning point in the play. This is shown through the
atmosphere that Russell creates, which goes from fairly positive, hopeful tone to a more cynical and
desperate one over the duration of the sequence. Russell uses several techniques to create these
atmospheres throughout.
In the opening of the Summer Sequence the atmosphere is clearly a happy one, which is shown by
Russell by using words like young, free and innocent to describe the characters. In this section, the
word innocent is used twice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This explicitly refers to the brothers fate in a way in which the last section didn t, so the tone is far
more marred by the eventuality of their deaths. This date is also referenced when Russell extends the
metaphor, fate the later seasons bring , which causes the audience to remember the scene at the very
beginning of the play, preventing them from being drawn into the initial happiness of the three
teenagers in this sequence. Again, it refers to Linda being caught in the middle of the pair,
foreshadowing their final argument.
It also refers to Linda paying a price , a theme that was initially shown in the song Easy Terms , sung
by Mrs Johnstone, and in both cases foreshadows the price they ll have to pay for their involvement in
the twins lives. The music becomes far more serious and sinister, a repetitive tense note with no actual
melody.
In the next section a recurring theme is shown with the references to time. This creates a sad,
melancholic atmosphere, as the audience is aware of the character s significant lack of time together,
but the characters are not, so their happy unawareness and this dramatic irony is slightly poignant.
Again, fate is reference by the narrator care not for what s at the end of the day , again forcing the
audience to remember the fate of the boys, this

Reasons For Studying Abroad In Thailand
A lot of preparation is needed to make study abroad fulfilling. I would want to study abroad in
Thailand to realize my long term goal. For that reason, I have worked on preparations for learning and
growing lots with the exchange study abroad in Thailand.
First, improving language abilities and international exchanges. To stay a long time over the sea.
Communications in a language of the country are indispensable. In addition, international students
learn in English at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University in Thailand.
For this reason, I am improving my English ability of university s Learning English program as
English Connection (EC) and Talk Time. In the fall semester of the second year grade, I took a class
for exchange students. In that class, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Something sees this study abroad is due to my willingness to realize my future goals. The cause is that
my goal is to contribute to the reality of a multicultural symbiosis society as a social worker, and to
think that Thai learning is important.
Something is, as globalization progresses in Japan, social workers are also under an obligation to have
language skills and international feelings. The number of foreigners who live together in Japan and
those who have roots abroad has increased, and it is increasing that social workers will assist those
people because of that. The need for multicultural social work to respond to such needs is rising.
I feel that intention also in my personal experience. I am working part time in community volunteer
activities and child welfare facilities. Under such circumstances, I met many people who have roots
abroad. I also had to experience and realized the necessity of international welfare more.
For this reason, language skills in diversifying and internationalizing needs are imperative. For that
reason, learning English, Thai, and international senses during Thailand s study abroad helps to
become active as a social

Forced to Choose Between Morals and Society in The...
Within the book The Puritan Dilemma , Edmund S. Morgan writes about the people who were forced
to pick between their morals and their societies. Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson were banned
since they had refused to accept the Puritan rules, and John Winthrop believe he could not continue in
a country where the church remained tainted. The Puritan Dilemma indoctrinated the people, claiming
we are all sinners other than the puritans. Everyone is sin and Puritans are saintly. Starting with John
Winthrop, a man who was stubborn and strict in the manner he worshipped God, and devoted his life.
Making it known that nothing will stray his faith towards him and heaven. His neighbors and people
he met were awfully extravagance, making it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Winthrop left peacefully, leading a newer and better colony of his own. Anne Hutchinson left
quietly, avoiding additional problems and departed to Rhode Island, continuing her faith. Roger
Williams withdrew his members within the Puritan church. Finding it easier and less risky than being
associated with the church of the old world. In Morgan s Puritan Dilemma, Puritans actually
somewhat provided opportunity for the British population in the early American history. They
established a purely religious society. Puritanism created both loyal supporters and critics. In most
people s opinions in the world now days, we may believe that puritans were evil brainwashing crazy
people but I do have an open mind and I could somewhat agreement with the things they have done. It
had a good start but a mad ending, people should be able to have their opinions but they were just
keeping control over the people to keep a good an healthy relationship with the lord. Yes, in the end,
killing and exiling people because they want to be human and just do things is a wrong way to do it
but if it s not working out then do exactly what these three have done and walk away. Create another
life elsewhere and keep doing what you believe in. Everyone has their own believes and we are the
world we are now because people never gave up on their goals, dreams and opinions. Puritans were no
way right but when you think about it they had somewhat of a good outlook on it and in the end

  • 2. Essay On Animal Captivity Jess Ramsey English 3 16 May 2017 Captive Creatures Yay or Nay? The issue on whether or not to keep animals in captivity has been debated heavily for a long time. With species such as the panda on the verge of extinction to mistreatment of marine mammals in theme parks such as Sea World, keeping wild animals under the care of humans has been a struggle and a highly controversial topic. Even though many people believe that animals should not be kept in captivity because humans are incapable of fully understanding and providing specific needs for wild animals, certain animals can be kept happy and healthy in captivity, and these animals are an important educational tool for teaching people of all ages about biology, biodiversity, and the ecosystems of the world. For one thing, many animals in captivity are animals that were found sick or injured, and are being nursed back to health. Danielle Pucillo, a previous volunteer at a zoo, states, the zoo where I volunteered rehabilitated various birds of prey, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Savannah Miller, another author, animals born in captivity are not able to return to the wild. Miller states, From the first minute of life, animals born in captivity are exposed to humans and captive animal care customs. Because of brain development patterns and learned behaviors during infancy, captive infants do not have the ability to survive in their natural habitats. Release creates anxiety for the animal, as they cannot acclimate to the foreign environment, and eventually they perish either by predation or exposure. By keeping them in captivity we save them from certain death. Of course, this could lead to an argument against breeding animals in captivity, but many of the captive born animals are likely born unintentionally. Releasing captive born animals into the wild may end with them going right back to captivity, as one of the sick or injured animals in need of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The goal of the game is not to score a goal. It s to challenge yourself to do better. You may be competing against the other team, but you are truly competing against yourself. When you kick that soccer ball, your goal is to prove to yourself that you can do anything. Those days when you give up on playing, are the days that make you believe anything is possible. Reducing Recidivism and Increasing Public Safety in Virginia Written By: Scott Richeson Summary Article One In 2010, the Virginia Department of Corrections (VDOC) began thoroughly investigating its security measures, programs, human resources and their combined effort in reducing recidivism. VDOC started to look within the system, and try to make changes internally, wanting to reconstruct the entire system, making it the main focus of VDOC. • 6. The Effect Of Administrative Turnover On Curriculum Essay Joshua Frisch ELAD635 Fall 2016 The Effect of Administrative Turnover on Curriculum Introduction Even while 15 30% of schools in the United States experience administrative turnover each year (Béteille, Kalogrides, Loeb, 2011, p. 3), it is very rare for schools to experience it on a continual basis where it occurs every other year. Yet, this is the case in the school where I work. Over the past 8 years, the school has had four different administrators in charge of the building and district (the district is made up of one K 8 school). Each change in leadership has brought with it a change in educational focus, philosophy, and goals. Though the staff has hailed some changes and hated others, people s major concern is that there has been little to no consistency in curriculum over the past decade, particularly in the elementary classrooms. The purpose of this literature review is to identify the different ways teachers can overcome administrative turnover in order to maintain current curriculum. This review will also identify the optimal amount of time administrators should remain at one school and district in order to positively affect student achievement through curriculum development. Background Because the Moonachie School district consists of one K 8 school, it has a superintendent/principal in charge of all aspects of the district and a director of curriculum who acts more as an assistant principal than a director of curriculum. • 8. Restoration In Louisiana The New York Times article, Left to Louisiana s Tides, a Village Fights For Time, discusses the plight of Jean Lafitte, a town of seven thousand people located two miles below the levee protecting New Orleans. A fourth of Louisiana s wetlands have been lost, much of which is due to intense hurricanes from 2005 to 2008. It is estimated that a football field worth of wetland disappears every 100 minutes and that in 200 years the wetlands will be completely gone. This degradation is due to climate change and human intervention in the area in pursuit of oil and farmland and in the creation of levees. Oliver A. Houck, a Tulane professor quoted in the article, claims, It is the largest ecological catastrophe in North America since the Dust Bowl. Under the principle of stewardship, we understand that the poor are affected first and worst, which is clearly seen in coastal Louisiana. • 9. Pontius Pilate As A Neutral Figure Many critics argue that Pontius Pilate was either a positive or negative figure; I am going to argue that he was a neutral figure based on his actions in regards to Jesus s trial, his attempt at getting Jesus released, and his absolution and refusal in regards to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Mark Powell from bibleodyssey.org has a very different stance than I do. He argues that Pilate condemned Jesus to death and had him tortured and crucified . The story of Jesus s trial and crucifixion was told in all four of the Gospels and all of the stories vary in some manner. King Herod also finds no guilt in Jesus so he sends him back to Pilate who once again declares that he has not found this man guilty of any of your charges against him. The Is Like A Rope Of Sand All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18 19 NIV) I spoke yesterday how life is like a rope of sand. You can t hold onto it, no matter how hard you try. We also can t predict what might happen at any moment. My heart has been heavy this past week over the shooting in Oregon. I think about the conversations at breakfast. Plans being made for the weekend or perhaps just for the afternoon. And then in one senseless evil moment nine lives were lost and an entire community was shaken to its very core. Every indicator at this point says that the shooter, for whatever reason, was targeting Christians. I say this with caution because when events like this happen its difficult to completely get a true accounting of the events. BUt let it suffice to say, at this moment the targeting of Christians seems to be the case. How are we, as the church, to respond to something like this? That s not idle question. We may focus more on an event like this because it happens in our own country, but perhaps it ought to wake us up to the truth that Christians are being persecuted all over the world. These include the following: 1. First of all, Mary Ricci has made the general and often popular assumption that bigger is better . However, a 36 inch by 36 inch bag is huge and would be extremely heavy if completely filled. People may prefer to have a smaller bag and limit the items that they bring to the beach or on another outing. 2. Second, the Beach Carrier utilizes an adjustable shoulder strap for carrying and Mary has assumed that this method would not be viewed as a negative when compared to the Caddy Shack (backpack type) or the Wonder Wheel (oversized wheels). However, many consumers would likely view these other carrying methods as an advantage, especially if one is packing lots of stuff including chairs and umbrellas. 3. Next, Mary based her market research on all people who use suntan and/or sunscreen products. This may be a significant overstatement of the market as many people who use these products ... Hard Times focuses on the role of the rich during this era and their impact on the society, one example being their pride in their success. Dickens portrays this with the character Mr. Bounderby. Mr. Bounderby is known as the Bully of humility, he is a man who pretends to be humble but is very much the complete opposite. He puts himself before others not caring about the outcome or consequences that may come further on such as people belittling his success. He devotes his time ensuring that others know he is almost superior and manipulates others making sure of it. Mr. Bounderby s pride throughout the novel causes his reputation to plummet and causes people to think very differently of him. Mr. Bounderby is very successful; he claims to be a self made man owning a bank and factory and being very well known throughout Coketown. To become a successful man, Mr. Bounderby explains that he grew up with his drunken grandmother after his mother had left him. He had to educate himself in the streets and had to work up to where he is now. Characters are placed into similar roles and the behavior of one character accentuates the traits of another, more major character. Radoslava Dvorakovskaya is an elderly woman who Lena lives with when she is very young. Radoslava passes away and Lena moves in with her aunt. In her new neighborhood, she meets a boy named Vaclav and his mother, Rasia, who quickly becomes a guardian of Lena as well. As Baldwin says Drama situations may portray real life situations , and because of this I feel that it is excellent if these situations become realistic as the children will already have experience with the situation. Drama makes immediate something that is distant and vice versa Our lecturer said this and it really grasped my attention and I believe this really signifies just how important it is to discover empathy through drama. In our workshops conflict and tension were created in or participation of drama we as students had to resolve this conflict and as a result we gained experiences on how to resolve this problems in real life, If this was achieved with children in a drama lesson it would most definitely coincide with the idea of (Kitson,2005) that this would aid their learning and help them think of new ... • 21. To What Extent Are Romeo and Juliet Responsible for Their... Romeo and Juliet is the tragic story of two young lovers, longing to be together but kept apart by their families. They prove their love for each other by going behind their parents backs to meet, to be together and to be married before meeting an untimely death. Deciding who is ultimately responsible for their tragic end can be difficult as there are so many people who play a significant role in their lives and who have an influence on how the play unfolds. Firstly, although Romeo and Juliet are the protagonists of the play that doesn t mean they do not share in some of the blame. Their courtship was very brief, the play spans less than a week, so it could be argued that they rushed into their marriage without properly planning anything ... Act 3 Scene 5 Line 167 168 Once again, the rebellious nature of teenagers could come into play; Capulet wants Juliet to marry Paris but she remains stubborn. This is also a great example of how the parents in the play pay little notice to what their children want. In this scene Juliet makes it obvious that her happiness doesn t lie with Paris yet her father ignores this and tells her to marry him or be disowned. However some people will step up to defend the parents and suggest they only wanted the best for their children, like any parent does. Perhaps what was best was that Romeo and Juliet should not have met. We don t know the full details of the feud, perhaps no one in the play does, there may be a good reason for it but there may not. Also, nowadays it is perhaps easier to say the parents are to blame for being absent as we are used to seeing parents play a much larger role in their children s lives. This play was written in Elizabethan times when it was common for noble families, such as the Capulets and Montagues, to employ a nurse to raise their children. One cannot really fault the parents if, in Elizabethan society s eyes, they were acting accordingly. On the subject of society, arranged marriages were probably common as well between wealthy families and were seen as the normal and proper thing. It would have been the parents duty to see their children were well matched and that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. That Summer And The Crown Analysis Someone once said, Your capability is admirable beyond words, so do not be afraid to show it . In the books That Summer and The Crown this theme is demonstrated by the protagonist numerous times. Without question, Haven from That Summer may be lonely, but Eadlyn from The Crown is capable which is far more admirable. Without a doubt, a tremendously capable character in the book The Crown by Kiera Cass would be Eadlyn Schreave. To be capable is to be able to do the task at hand. One example that Eadlyn is capable is how she runs an entire kingdom so her dad can stay with her mother because her mom was sick. Running a huge kingdom at 18 years of age is a huge responsibility and Eadlyn was able to do it by enlisting her closest staff to come on a team to assist her. Another example that Eadlyn is capable is how she stopped a massive war from happening, due to her brother marrying the Queen of France and giving up his royal status. Eadlyn had to go against an entire congress of old men that wanted to start sending an army to France. It proved Eadlyn was capable of doing anything a man could do, and that she did not need to find a husband to rule over Illéa. In closing, Eadlyn Schreave from the book The Crown by Kiera Cass, is an extremely capable young lady. Without question, Haven from the book That Summer By Sarah Dessen is a lonely character. Getting new Barbie s for my birthday and Christmas was the highlight for my friends and I every year, and comparing which dolls the others got with each other. Neither one of the toys that the boys played with seemed that it would scar them for life. With Barbie they more and more have made her a more positive role model by having her say encouraging things. So when it comes down to it, how a young boy plays with his toys is the same as how a young girl plays with her Barbie s because they both just want to have fun with a toy, and they can make it do whatever they wanted. Young children could have control over something which both genders liked to do. Barbie s intelligence has been one of the most debated topics about the doll. The passenger Bill of Rights was not new at that time, FlyersRights.org stated The bill, which had been stalled in Congress since at least 1999, allows passengers the option of getting off delayed planes after 3 hours on the ground, and requires airlines to provide adequate food, water, temperature controls, ventilation and working toilets to accommodate a 3 hour delay (FlyersRights.org, 2013). Due to Kate Hanni s persistence her congressman Democrat Mike Thompson introduced legislation which would force airlines to allow passengers to deplane after 3 hours on the tarmac. Social Learning And Environmental Determinants Of Psychopathy Social Learning and Environmental Determinants of Psychopathy Psychopathy is a disorder caused by biological, environmental, and psychological factors that result in both interpersonal/affective deficits and social deviance/antisocial behaviors. It can be broken down into primary psychopathy and secondary psychopathy. Primary psychopathy mainly encompasses the interpersonal/affective components of psychopathy, such as superficial charm, lack of empathy, remorse or guilt, and manipulative tactics. These aspects of psychopathy are typically life long and caused by biological deficits. Secondary psychopathy involves the social deviance/antisocial behaviors components of psychopathy, such as impulsive behavior, aggression, lack of responsibility, and need for excitement. These aspects are typically more attributable to the environmental determinants of psychopathy. Psychopathy, unlike Antisocial Personality Disorder, includes both conduct and personality components. There are several different determinants that can impact psychopathy, including childhood abuse or trauma, parental bonding and attachment styles, and community or peer influences. These environmental determinants interact with biological determinants in a process known as biological embedding. Dysphagia Essay Copstead and Banasik (2013) explain the pathophysiologic basis for dysphagia can fall under three categories: (1) problems in delivery of the bolus of food or fluid into the esophagus as a result of neuromuscular incoordination ; (2) problems in transport of the bolus down the body of the esophagus as a result of altered esophageal peristaltic activity ; (3) problems in bolus entry into the stomach as a result of lower esophageal sphincter (LES) dysfunction or obstructing lesions (p. 721). In the first category of dysphagia, individual have a decreased ability to accomplish the initial steps of swallowing in an orderly sequence (Copstead Banasik, 2013, p. 721). The normal process of swallowing starts with the contraction of pharynx, which then leads to the closure of the epiglottis and results in the relaxation of the upper esophageal sphincter (Copstead and Banasik, 2013). After the relaxation of the upper esophageal sphincter, there is an initiation of peristalsis by contraction of the striated muscle in the upper portion of the esophagus is altered, or the certain steps in the sequence may be absent (Copstead Banasik, 2013, p. 721). ... The speaker encourages these young women to use their youth, beauty, and femininity and seduce a possible suitor. In both of these poems, there is an emphasis on time or the lack of time. In Herrick s work, the speaker uses symbolism to describe time. The speaker personifies the flower to illustrate how young girls are smiling brightly and happy in their prime. The dying of the flower is the death of youth and the beginning of aging. Once aged it is harder for women to find potential suitors for marriage; this is a warning from the speaker to the young maidens. While Herrick s speaker uses time as a notice for inevitable aging Marvell s speaker uses the lack of time as the reason to consummate their love. Throughout high school, I devoted hundreds of hours to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Youth United and ReStore, among other projects. In college, I volunteer as Vice President of Service for Alpha Phi Omega, a co ed service fraternity, and spend about 150 hours per semester volunteering. The opportunity to participate in Bike and Build will affect my future goals in volunteerism, working with non profits and continuing to advocate for the affordable housing cause. I am motivated, enthusiastic, patient, helpful and independent. My older brother and I have always been rather competitive, which is why I enjoy challenges. Other than the physical challenge of this opportunity, I hope to connect with the other riders and locals in the communities that we visit and help. After backpacking through Europe during my semester abroad, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Hernan Cortez Accomplishments Did you know that past explorers were known to travel for riches and fame? They just wanted to be known, and be able to say they were there, and seen many things; or the accomplishments they have made. For instance, Hernan Cortez was born in 1485 in Medellin, Spain. He was a Spanish conquistador who defeated the Aztec Empire and claimed Mexico for Spain. He also studied at the university of Salamanca. In 1518, he set sail to Mexico with eleven ships and five hundred men. By 1519, he reached the Mexican coast. Some hardships Cortez faced included him becoming allies with natives, and others. he used deadly force to conquer Mexico. He fought Tiaxacan and Cholula warriors. He marched to Tenochtitlan and captured the ruler Montezuma II., although , he had to leave because the Spanish troops were coming to arrest him for disobeying orders. But he did return later because the Spanish was set out by the Aztecs. In 1515, he conquered the Aztecs and King Charles appointed him to be the governor of New Spain. Some interesting facts about Hernan Cortez was that after he conquered the Aztecs, his authority and position was questioned, and they also formed a rebellion against him. Between 1540 1547, he spent time being recognized for his achievements, and support from the Spanish royal courts. • 44. Questions On Foreign Agents And International Property Owners 6. How to Find Foreign Realtors How can you find some proper foreign realtors and contact them directly if as a property owner you want to bypass your local realtors (or cannot find any with the foreign connections) and pay only the foreign part of the real estate commission? Or are you just this local realtor or a developer and willing to find a partner in sales in a foreign country to send you buyers? For that you have to go to the foreign internet with the help of a bilingual person at your side and search there for advertisers of properties for sale from your country or area or city to further ask them to become your business partners. The foreign real estate agents who advertise international properties in the foreign internet or print media (with online editions that you can see in the internet) are especially interesting to international property owners, real estate agents and developers of many countries of the world in the following two aspects: 1. These foreign agents already show their specific interest in selling properties from a particular country that they advertise to their buyers, and as they obviously spend money on ads it means that they are serious about working with this country, have expertise in this country real estate and can advise their buyers accordingly; 2. They might already have some prospective foreign buyers for properties from this particular country because of their recent ads. If you are a property owner or real ... • 45. How Does Willy Russell Create Mood and Atmosphere in the... In the Summer Sequence Willy Russell s three main protagonists are shown to grow up from the ages of 15 to 18, thus becoming adults throughout the song. This means that the sequence acts as a watershed in the respect that it marks a major turning point in the play. This is shown through the atmosphere that Russell creates, which goes from fairly positive, hopeful tone to a more cynical and desperate one over the duration of the sequence. Russell uses several techniques to create these atmospheres throughout. In the opening of the Summer Sequence the atmosphere is clearly a happy one, which is shown by Russell by using words like young, free and innocent to describe the characters. In this section, the word innocent is used twice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This explicitly refers to the brothers fate in a way in which the last section didn t, so the tone is far more marred by the eventuality of their deaths. This date is also referenced when Russell extends the metaphor, fate the later seasons bring , which causes the audience to remember the scene at the very beginning of the play, preventing them from being drawn into the initial happiness of the three teenagers in this sequence. Again, it refers to Linda being caught in the middle of the pair, foreshadowing their final argument. It also refers to Linda paying a price , a theme that was initially shown in the song Easy Terms , sung by Mrs Johnstone, and in both cases foreshadows the price they ll have to pay for their involvement in the twins lives. The music becomes far more serious and sinister, a repetitive tense note with no actual melody. In the next section a recurring theme is shown with the references to time. This creates a sad, melancholic atmosphere, as the audience is aware of the character s significant lack of time together, but the characters are not, so their happy unawareness and this dramatic irony is slightly poignant. Again, fate is reference by the narrator care not for what s at the end of the day , again forcing the audience to remember the fate of the boys, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The cause is that my goal is to contribute to the reality of a multicultural symbiosis society as a social worker, and to think that Thai learning is important. • 47. Forced to Choose Between Morals and Society in The... Within the book The Puritan Dilemma , Edmund S. Morgan writes about the people who were forced to pick between their morals and their societies. Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson were banned since they had refused to accept the Puritan rules, and John Winthrop believe he could not continue in a country where the church remained tainted. The Puritan Dilemma indoctrinated the people, claiming we are all sinners other than the puritans. Everyone is sin and Puritans are saintly. Anne Hutchinson left quietly, avoiding additional problems and departed to Rhode Island, continuing her faith. Roger Williams withdrew his members within the Puritan church. Finding it easier and less risky than being associated with the church of the old world. In Morgan s Puritan Dilemma, Puritans actually somewhat provided opportunity for the British population in the early American history. They established a purely religious society. Puritanism created both loyal supporters and critics. In most people s opinions in the world now days, we may believe that puritans were evil brainwashing crazy people but I do have an open mind and I could somewhat agreement with the things they have done. It had a good start but a mad ending, people should be able to have their opinions but they were just keeping control over the people to keep a good an healthy relationship with the lord. Yes, in the end, killing and exiling people because they want to be human and just do things is a wrong way to do it but if it s not working out then do exactly what these three have done and walk away. Create another life elsewhere and keep doing what you believe in. Everyone has their own believes and we are the world we are now because people never gave up on their goals, dreams and opinions.
