Proposal on Energy Audit
Proposal Energy Audit: An energy audit is an inspection, survey and analysis of energy, flows for
energy conservation in a building, process or system to reduce the amount of energy input into the
system without negatively affecting the output(s). Energy audit identifies opportunities for financial
savings by elimination of wasteful use of electricity, coal and fuel oil, without affecting the process or
quality of product. Need for Energy Audit: It has been established that Energy savings of the order of
5 to 20% are possible by optimizing use of Energy with better house keeping, low cost retrofitting
measures and use of Energy efficient equipment at the time of replacement, renovation or up
gradation. Pakistan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is this first phase where you, the facility manager, can watch the work of the energy auditor to make
sure he does not miss any equipment and allocates the equipment to their right meters. Phase II: Data
Analysis The second phase expected of an energy audit is an analysis of the data obtained at the
facility. Here the auditor leaves the facility and returns to his place of business to use his skills and
computer programs to analyze the data collected. When he/she has analyzed your existing equipment s
operation, it should match the demand and energy consumption on the electric bills. The analysis
should show a breakdown of the percent of demand and energy used by various types of equipment
such as air conditioning, heating, lighting, motors, etc. It should bench mark the facility s energy use
index to similar facilities. Phase III: Recommend Energy Conservation with Cost Effective The third
phase of an energy audit is to recommend energy conservation measures in equipment and operations.
This would include replacing inefficient with high efficiency lighting, air conditioning, and motors,
adding window tint to south and west facing windows, installing motion sensors, and purchasing there
energy saving devices. Each item would have a cost and an annual savings associated with it so as to
calculate a payback period and rate of return percent. They should be graphed to show individual as

Our army was celebrating after this moment. It was finally over the war, the rule of the White Witch.
We had a big celebration in Cair paravel now this moment was going to last forever because I mean I
am a king and I fought in a battle with an almighty Aslan. There was something missing though but I
just couldn t tell what it was. I felt like a ruler like a boss and I was kind of nervous though too I mean
what if we were under attack? But then I had an idea what if there was no more evil so I sent every
single troop in Narnia that is on the good side to go kill all the evil but me and my younger siblings
went out to find the witch. It seemed forever but we couldn t find the witch but we stopped at on spot
wear there was a lamppost and I couldn t help but feel that I remembered it was the same lamppost
that we came into Narnia and saw I was filled with joy and I was also sad because in this world I was

The Development Of A Scientific Theory
Assignment 1 P1 The development of a scientific theory
Date Event
1809 First theory of evolution available
Jean Baptiste Lamarck is a French naturalist, soldier, biologist and academic. He gave out his theory
of evolution. His theory was that evolution occurred through the inheritance of developed
characteristics, or the use/disuse theory.
1831 A new world
Charles Darwin was very young and still a student, joins the journey of the HMS Beagle as a
naturalist.
1844 The First Essay
Charles Darwin was working for many years, writes an essay on the theory of evolution. Unluckily,
this was never published.
1858 Rivalry for Evolution
Alfred Russel Wallace issues a paper. The paper had some of the same assumptions as Darwin,
including natural selection. Darwin s friends present both Wallace s and Darwin s theories at the
Linnean Society.
1859 The Origin of Species
Darwin was suffering from sickness both in himself and his family, completes his book The Origin of
Species and issues it. It becomes very popular.
1865 Heredity experimentation
Mendel s works with pea plants is given out, setting the background for the basis of natural selection.
1892 Importance of DNA in heredity
August Weismann gives out answers detailing how important DNA is to heredity. Along with the germ
cell theory. The theory that legacy only takes place by means of germ cells. For example: egg and
sperm. Those other cells do not pass on their genes.

Why Do We Need Crime Statistics
Across the country there are cities that range from millions of residents to thousands. There are also
some towns that have a couple hundred barely enough to be called a town. When you look at crime
you think of these places and wonder where there could possibly be more crime. In a city a lot of
crime is normal do to the population but in a small town with smaller population you won t see that.
The amount of crime reported and processed in a place are the crime statistics and it can vary
depending on the situation. Crime statistics can be taken in two ways (boundless.com). One way it can
be taken is crime reports and surveys. Surveys are super important because it can show that people
who had a crime happen to them didn t call in or report the crime. A crime that is not reported to the
police is a dark figure of crime (Schmalleger, Frank). These are super important and are sometimes
found out about in only surveys. Imagine how many more crime statistics there would be if the dark
figures of crime were reported and how many more criminals we could stop. Crime control helps keep
order in cities. The crime statistics are taken in two major ways. collecting crime data are law
enforcement reports and victimization statistical surveys (Boundless.com) In a big city where more
crime happens more law enforcemt will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my personal opinion I think that it helps Crime Control a lot more and is more useful in keeping
order. The main reason for this again is because if the amount of crime goes up in one place then we
can send more enforcement to that specific area. This would be helpful everywhere it just another way
to keep things under more control. Again, this is my opinion and the scales of justice can tell you
something different. According to the scales of justice both processes are portrayed as equal but in all
reality they are always tipping and that just depends on the situation and the statistics being

Alice In Wonderland Fire
Alice is a girl whose parents and sister died in a fire and nobody can explain what caused the fire.
Alice survived the fire and was told to make her survival meaningful. In reality, Alice s skin is sickly
pale with shoulder length brown hair and round, pale green eyes with bags around them. She wears a
black and white dress and a dirty white apron. When she zones into Wonderland, Alice has a healthier
complexion. She has longer hair that has a reddish tint and appears to be wearing make up.
Wonderland, a place where her inner thoughts, desires, and psyche manifest. Everyone has heard of or

has become evil. Alice: Madness Returns takes place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, being small means that Alice takes double the time to cover ground and she cannot jump.
The hidden key holes lead to a place where Alice recollects her memories that play a short dialogue or
bottles that have a hidden note. The memories and bottles are scattered in hidden places throughout
the game. There are also shrinking violets that Alice can see at her normal height but must shrink in
them in order for them to work their magic and heal her. In contrast to shrinking, gigantic Alice allows
her to crush walls and destroy towers but she can only use her hands and feet. When Alice loses health
battling there is a hysteria state that Alice can enter which allows her to not intake any more damage
and cause twice the amount of damage on her enemies. In this state wonderland is seen in all gray and
Alice appears white with blood shot eyes and blood all over her and her weapons. Another power she
has includes triple jumping which allows her to reach further platforms to not fall and die. Alice also
has a power where she appears as an enormous amount of tiny butterflies that zooms her invincibly to
either get further after triple jumping or to dodge enemies. Alice stays in the butterfly dodging state
for a couple of seconds. Finally floating after jumping allows Alice to glide to further platforms which
she would not be able to do by jumping

Solar Energy Is The Best Type Of Energy
When you close your eyes and think of solar energy, what do you see? Your response is most likely
something positive such as an innovative, efficient, and renewable step forward into the future. Solar
is also thought of to be the best type of energy because the sun will never go away. Well, solar energy
will have to battle it out with natural gas and oil in the near future. As the price of oil and natural gas
continues to drop, solar energy looks less desirable as other sources become more affordable in the
short term (Sanburn 38). Josh Sanburn, author for Time Magazine, does have a relevant point while
discussing solar energy s competitors. The handful of solar energy s positives makes it easy for the
green thumbed consumers of today to overlook the many negatives. The negatives are very important
though when on the topic of something that could possibly determine the future of the whole world s
energy productivity. The number one issue with the continuation of solar energy is the price. The main
solar energy companies try to sell their panels by repetitively saying that the panels will save money in
the long run. Yet solar energy was the most costly energy source for kW/hr in 2015. The rooftop solar
craze is wasting billions of dollars a year that could be spent on greener initiatives. It also is hindering
the growth of much more cost effective renewable sources of power. Solar energy is able to stay
relevant because of the large amount of subsidies placed by the

The Theme Of Education In The Film Waiting For Superman
In the American public school system students are failing and society is doing nothing but taking a
blind eye to the injustice. In the film, Waiting For Superman, director, Davis Guggenheim,
investigates the various ways these schools are producing failing students in the United States. By
following the stories of five children throughout the documentary we, the viewers, begin to take notice
of the corrupt public school system as the children experience the inequalities of a low income school
first hand. Guggenheim uses audio and pop up animations to effectively argue his claim and motivate
the audience to change the way public schools are being operated.
The audio in this film plays a huge role in how the audience perceives the information they are
obtaining. Whether it is a lack of sound, or an upbeat song it creates an atmosphere or tone for that
segment of the movie. Throughout the film aside from the statistics and the lives of the children being
shown, Guggenheim incorporates clips from old tv shows, presidential speeches and more. When
these clips are being viewed an energetic and quick song is being played. The information presented in
these clips happens to be statements about how the president s believe they want to be the education
president or the clips express happy faces of children learning and smiling teachers. Guggenheim
presents the fact that up until the 1970 s, American public schools were the best in the world while
children are doing experiments

Milton Hershey School is a school for orphans in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Hershey created Hershey
trust company as sole to trustee for the school. The school owned 33% of Hershey Foods Corporation

In 2002 the Hershey trust company board decided to sell school shares from Hershey stock. The board
wanted to sell the 33% of Hershey shares at premium and reinvest the money in another company to
make profit for the school. The board was responsible to oversees the investment and make sure the
school was doing fine. Looking on this issue as financial personnel the board decision was better to
sell stocks at premium and reinvest in another company.
The community members did not agree with the trust board decision to sell 33% of Hershey shares to

have high stake in Hershey Company. Hershey himself had a sign in his office saying Business is a

while maximizing community needs to operate at profit to maximize shareholders wealth.
The decision to sell the shared faced strong opposition from Hershey employees, local businesses, and
politicians. The community did not want foreign company to take over Hershey Company due to the
legacy of Hershey involvement in the community will be compromised and many jobs might be lost.

The Pros And Cons Of Solar Energy
Even though only a small amount of the sun s heat ever reaches Earth, it is enough to power the whole
world. Solar energy is always being provided to us by the Sun. Solar energy can be converted into
electricity and heat. It helps provide the warmth necessary for people, plants, and animals to survive.
With the help of today s technology, scientists have found a way to use the sun to help us in our
everyday lives. The idea of solar energy has, resulted in the use of solar power. Thus, it could lead to a
more modernized and efficient society. Solar energy is a renewable resource and is converted to
electrical energy in two ways: by using photovoltaic materials or the thermal process. The
photovoltaic method, generates electric power by using the solar energy to convert energy from the
sun into a flow of electrons. (Sethia, et al., 2017). The thermal method is a process that uses the energy
from the sun to heat a working fluid in an electric generating cycle. Solar energy is one of the most
important sources of energy we could have because it is a non polluting energy. This, in turn, helps in
lessening the greenhouse effect. The most popular way to use solar energy is through the use of solar
panels. To generate the high temperatures necessary to make steam to generate electricity, the sunlight
must be concentrated. Solar thermal technology often uses reflectors in the form of parabolic
concentrators or flat mirrors to focus the sun s rays onto a water filled pipe.
While at work, I was also able to interview a customer who used to be in the solar panel business. His
name is Henry Caldwell, and he used to work for Turnbull Contracting, LLC, in Bowling Green,
Missouri. During the interview, I was able to learn about the different systems they offer, and some
types of solar panels available. The two systems available from Turnbull Contracting are the string
inverter and the micro inverter. First, the string inverter is the most basic out of the two. The string
system would be ideal for homes and businesses that have direct sunlight and openings. The panels in
this system are all chained together so that when one panels gets shade, it also impact the other panels.
However, the micro inverter is more up to date

Promiscuity Vs Sexual Addiction
Human Sexual promiscuity has been around since the existence of Human Beings. To clearly
understand and define sexual promiscuity there must be a distinction made between the difference
between sexual promiscuity and sexual addiction because they are controversially close in definition.
Looking at the word sexual addiction itself any scholar would then presume that with addiction in the
word, the definition would then be: a person pathologically habituated to sexual behaviors. In
comparison, promiscuity is similar, defined with the same definition based upon different societal
standards, genders and civil status.

How Did Martin Luther King Beyond Vietnam A Time To Break...
In Beyond Vietnam A Time to Break the Silence, Martin Luther King Jr. conveys a strong stance
against the injustice and violence of the Vietnam War. He believes the Vietnam War is devastating the
hopes of the poor and brutally highlighting inequality in America; he implores the reader to take
action in the form of protest against these issues. To bolster his argument, King adroitly employs
personal anecdotes, forced teaming, and comparisons to sway his readers. King begins his deft use of
personal anecdotes with his discussion of his work in the ghettos. He narrates, ...[a deeper level of
awareness] grows out of my experience in the ghettos of the North over the last three years especially
the last three summers. As I have walked among the desperate, rejected, and angry young men, I have
told them that Molotov cocktails and rifles would not solve their problems...But they ask and
rightfully so what about Vietnam? This personal anecdote helps King s persuasiveness on several
levels. First, this story establishes his credibility as a speaker. King is out in the streets working with
young men addressing violence and injustice. These experiences provide him with a plethora of first
hand knowledge in addition to providing the reader with an example that King practices what he
preaches. On the other hand, this story helps King develop a strong sense of pathos in his piece. Many
Americans have been taught that violence is never the answer; thus, they inherently acknowledge the
truth of this statement. As King echoes this proverb to the young men, they argue What about
Vietnam? By asking this question, the reader realizes their own government is going against one of
their fundamental beliefs. This makes the reader question the morality of the war in Vietnam. Without
personal anecdotes, King s message would lose its great emotional impact. Just as persuasive as his
use of personal anecdotes are King s analogies. While discussing the detrimental effect the war in
Vietnam will have on America, King describes, If America s soul becomes totally poisoned, part of the
autopsy must read: Vietnam. In King s analogy, he refers to morality as the soul of America. The word
soul can be defined as the purest

Christmas Descriptive Writing
On that momentous Christmas Eve of 2013, daubs of ashen grays, splattered specks of lapis, careless
streaks of pale lavender, and muted, chalky whites were smeared across the blank canvas sky, barely
concealing the cold, distant stars. The sliver of the moon that was shaped as though it were a narrow,
shining claw, was tied to the edge of a low hanging cloud with a thin, wisp of a string. Millions of the
beautiful feathery, ice crystals were brutally thrown toward the Earth, onto the frosted, dead grass,
where they joined their companions in a heap of broken, mangled snowflakes. For the ecclesiastical
holiday, scintillating lights were intertwined with newly bought, plastic reindeer scattered across the
yard, along with a snowman with a crooked, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

D Day and the Effect on Bedford, Virginia How can a small county have such a significant loss, and
still recover immediately after and in the future? D Day took a big toll on the population of Bedford,
Virginia on June 6, 1944. The events of D Day still influence this small community today. Germany
invaded northwestern France in 1940; however, the Americans entered the war in December 1942 and
formed an alliance with Britain. Adolf Hitler was aware of the threats of invasion and put Erwin
Rommel in charge of defense operations (History.com). In January of 1944, General Dwight
Eisenhower became commander of Operation Overlord. Since Britain and America were Allies, they
used the alliance to deceive the Germans. They made the Germans think they were attacking Pas de
Calais instead, they attacked Normandy. They also made the Germans think that Norway, as well as
other locations, were potential targets (History.com). The Allies used many tactics to help with the
deception, like fake equipment, a phantom army, and fraudulent radios. June 5th was the original day
for the invasion. Unfortunately bad weather caused the attack to be postponed until the next day. On
June 6th, at dawn, the Allied troops invaded Western Europe from the sea. The Allied armies spent
several months preparing for this large amphibious attack. In addition, air attacks were used to keep

Micro Analysis of
Micro analysis:
Film: Blade Year: 1998 Director: Stephen Norrington
In this micro analysis I will be analysing the film Blade which was produced in 1998 and directed by
Stephen Norrington. The micro elements I am going to focus on are Mise en scene and
cinematography. I will be analysing everything in the scene including props, costumes, facial
expressions, gestures, setting, codes framing to determine how it creates meaning. In cinematography
I will focus on the camera shots and angles and how these are used to create meaning. Both of these
micro elements will be combined to show how they work together in creating meaning for the
audience in the scene that I am studying.

This connotes that he is angry and frustrated or he is just ready to pounce on the vampire.
As soon as the fight scene begins Blade pulls out a shotgun. The shot gun is black and long in length.
While the fight is commencing there is a feeling of claustrophobia that the setting creates and
entrapment. This feeling is created through the shots used as he is fighting the vampires and the
composition. Blade is position in the middle of most of the shots and vampires are surrounding him
from either side fighting him. This gives a feeling of isolation and claustrophobia towards the
audience.
While the fight scene is going on the audience will notice that all the vampires are in red and Blade
has high key lighting on him most of the time throughout the scene. This indicates danger around him
and evil and also he is isolated. This shows the audience that Blade is going to be the hero because the
light that is shining on him indicates hope to the audience but then again indicates coldness at the
same time. As the scene goes on there is a mid shot of Blade having lots of stakes around his leg and
plunging it into a vampire s heart. The mise en scene makes us think that it is a good vs. evil theme
and that Blade is on a mission to kill all the vampires because strapped to his leg is a bundle of stakes,
its like Blade was ready and waiting for the vampires to attack.
Blade is then enclosed with vampires circling him. The shot used here is a long shot this creates

Symptoms Of Disorder, By John Warns
One of the most obvious, yet in the nineteenth century completely unrecognised and undiagnosed,
reasons behind symptoms of supposed insanity would be post natal depression. Gilmans narrator
suffers from just this as she exclaims: Such a dear baby! And yet I CANNOT be with him, it makes
me so nervous , conveying a certain disconnection with her son. The narrator feels her husband fails to
understand her perspective: she is the complete opposite of her public sphere husband who is practical
in the extreme... and he scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in
figures . She yearns for a life which she believes this domestic role has stolen from her: Gilman s
narrator longs to write but John warns that with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The intersection of confinement and gender is shown in the passage where the narrator says and she is
all the time trying to crawl through. But nobody could climb through that pattern it strangles so; I
think that is why it has so many heads. , the narrator sometimes sees many, many women imprisoned
by the pattern. The pattern she sees on the wallpaper is a microcosm of society in which she, along
with all women, is supressed of any desires other than those seen as etiquette.
The narrator comes to an epic epiphany in TYW as she becomes empowered by confidence and self
belief, which she desperately lacks throughout the story. When she says I ve got out at last , it is
arguable that this sudden confidence was sprouted from her challenge with her self identity, leading
her to mental degradation. The mental degradation is ambiguous however; it could be argued that this
is only a stage of imaginative and possibly even physical freedom that the character is experiencing.
Without this effect of insanity the change in status between John and the narrator would not have been
possible because she would remain as subdued as she ever was. There is a similar revelation in ADH
with Nora seemingly breaking away from Torvald s restraints however, this time with a lack of mental
illness. Nora s realisation involves more of a conscious decision in the sense that her mind was not
obscured by any mental illness; she finally

The Reform And Implementation Of A New Defined Benefit...
INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension
system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. A new
1st pillar earnings related defined benefit scheme named Jaminan Pensiun (JPN) was officially put
into place on July 1st. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar program, the
implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested by the World
Bank (World Bank, 2008). In this paper, the adequacy, sustainability, predictability, and robustness of
Indonesia s pension scheme will be evaluated in comparison to other countries with similar pension
schemes. The focus will mostly be on the new program JPN, and to a lesser extent, the old Jamsostek
program Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT). DB AND DC SCHEMES Indonesia has both of these schemes
implemented in the pension system. Both schemes cover only the formal sector. DC (Jaminan Hari
Tua) Prior to the 2015 reform, Indonesia s DC system was abused by contributors by withdrawing the
balance long before the maturity of the fund/retirement . A reform was made so that the minimum
contributory period was 10 years and a large part of the balance cannot be withdrawn until participants
reach retirement age. Most individuals do not understand the actuarial component in a DC scheme.

Social Disorganization Theory On Urban Ecology And Burgess...
Social Disorganization
Nicole Hofmann
Criminological Theory University of Tampa Abstract
Social Disorganization theory has its roots in urban ecology and Burgess s concentric model. As part
of the positivist paradigm of criminology, it poses a scientific examination of the connection of social
disorganization and crime mediated by structural factors. The macro level research concludes that a
weakening of social bonds between an individual and institutions of socialization will lead to
delinquency. Over time, there has been much empirical support for the theory and extensions have
been made to include more reliable measures of social disorganization within a community. This paper
will discuss the origins of the theory developed by Shaw and McKay, then move forward to prominent
empirical support, social disorganization research on suburban areas and lead up to valid criticism of
the theory. Finally, there will be an examination of the policy implications originally posed and a
proposal towards a more integrated approach addressing causes for social disorganization through the
critical paradigm of criminology.
Introduction
Social disorganization theory is part of the positivist paradigm of criminology, a scientific approach to
crime causes, and part of the Chicago School of crime. While trait theories under the positivist
approach assume that crime is cause by internal factors, social disorganization theory relies on the
assumption that crime is caused by environmental

Ficus Elastica Monologue
The morning smells like wood left out in the rain.
My Ficus awakes from the sun s scream. Watering is our daily ritual but it wasn t always this way.
When I first discovered my Ficus, I had no clue how to care for it. I researched specific care for a
Ficus and discovered many types of this plant. Eventually, I came across photos of Ficus elastica and
realized this is the type. Home Depot provided me with instructions but their advice was dead wrong.
My Ficus was dying fast. Thankfully, I studied the history of Ficus elastica I didn t realize how much
care is required. But this information saved my Ficus life. The care and time I put in my Ficus elastica
remind me of the care I provided for this tiny houseplant I had when ... Show more content on

I watered and supplied adequate sunlight but this was not enough. Since then, I strayed from owning
plants. This one time, a gathering of purple, pink, and green plants lured me towards their direction.
They begged for my ownership for a place in my home. I was skeptic but decided to purchase a couple
of them. Two of them died in my hands. I swear I could feel their last breaths. The soil from their pots
crumbled between my fingers. Dandelions dismantled by the wind as fresh cut grass stuck to the
bottom of my sneakers.
This is my memory from age eight when I attended elementary school. I had little regard to plants and
flowers. At recess, green grass stains painted my knees. I would search for Lady Bugs and roll around
on the grass. In class, I received a green mark for good behavior. Green always meant good except for
the time I was attacked by a frog. My childhood friend and I played with her pet frog for hours. One
day, I tried to kiss the frog a reference to Prince Charming. My friend and I joked if I kiss the frog
would it indeed turn into a prince. We were wrong, dead wrong because the frog jumped on my face.
But my Ficus is green and good. My Ficus

State Terrorism As A Form Of Political Violence
State terrorism is defined as, terrorism committed by a national government, inside of its national
borders and directed at its own people and sometimes visitors (Taylor Swanson, 2016 P. 162). Most
military dictorships tend to maintain the power through terror; this paralyzes society through violence
and threats. The scary thing about state terrorism is that the states themselves have the power to use
violence in many ways that us as civilians cannot. The main purpose of state terrorism is to install this
fear in citizens, this way they consolidate the living regimes power, and keep maintain the control over
the country s population. However, some do not see state terrorism as terrorism, if not just as a form of
political violence.

U.s. Government s Impact On The United States
The U.S. has suffered from many Natural Disasters from Hurricane Katrina to wildfires in California.
When it comes too natural disasters Hurricanes are by far one of the most devastating. The results can
be catastrophic, possibly leaving the death tolls in thousands and leaving millions homeless. Even
though the U.S. has responded to and recovered from Hurricanes, Meteorologists are presently not
able to predict them early enough, and the U.S. government is unprepared financially, and
responsively. Being well prepared for a hurricane is critical to saving peoples lives and their well
being. The government needs to do more not for just hurricanes but any disaster. When it comes to
predicting a Hurricane obviously the earlier it s predicted the better the outcome will be, it will give
the government and citizens more time to prepare and evacuate city s or even a state if necessary.
Once a hurricane has formed, it can be tracked. Scientists can usually predict its path for 3 5 days in
advance (Samsot). Giving a city to a state possibly only 3 days to evacuate is not long enough for
everyone to pack up as many belongings as they can and leave the area. If meteorologists are able to
predict when a hurricane is going to form and project the path the time to prepare will increase
significantly. What the McDonald 2 government needs to do is help Meteorologists be able to predict
Hurricanes earlier by helping them get more resources and giving them a good fund to help them

Dollar General Industry and Competitive Analysis
Dollar General Industry and Competitive Analysis
INDUSTRY
The first step to understanding a company is to examine its industry. There are four main areas to
consider when analyzing an industry. These include:
• Competitors
There are several different types of stores within the discount retail industry, and for comparison s
sake, the industry is further broken into many segments. DG is in the market segment known as the
dollar store category. As a result, competitors such as Wal Mart are in the same industry but not the
same peer group. Comparisons will be made throughout this report to Wal Mart and other big firms
because they tend draw some of the same customers.
• Customers

It is not sustainable due to:
• rivals similar competitive strategies
• low barriers of entry into the market
• the absence of a differentiation strategy
When examining competitive advantage, it is also important to consider the market and take into
account the existing competition against larger firms.
Small firms often find it difficult to compete with larger firms. Though there are some disadvantages
DG will never be able to overcome due to its size, small firms have advantages over their larger
counterparts.
Advantages
• convenience
• absence of long lines
• customer service
Disadvantages
• low purchasing power
• smaller pool of resources to allocate
• less extensive market
Improving the store internally with more resourceful employees, better lighting and displays, and
more organized floor plans will start to change the image of Dollar General that the average public
holds. A more respectable store will lead to an increase in customers. Dollar General will then begin
developing a system of a more sustainable competitive advantage among the small and large firms of
the similar industry.
DG has a current competitive advantage within its industry that is maintains through a unique cost
efficient approach. This low cost structure is apparent through low inventories, low advertising costs,
and location of stores in rural areas. Though profitable in the short run, DG s current advantage is not

Rita Charon Listening Theory
In narrative medicine, Dr. Rita Charon asserts that, physical medicine such as, antibiotics, pills, and
other medicine individuals can physical take, can cause the patient to self diagnose their selves.
Although, these medicine are supposed to heal, Dr. Charon reveals the genuine way to heal a patient.
Most of the time when a patient goes to see their doctor, they are slightly afraid. Many doctors just
state to the patients what s wrong with their body, rather the patient telling the doctor what s wrong
with their own body. With the doctors doing that, this allows a disconnected feeling from the patient
towards the doctor. Dr. Charon wants doctors to realize the art of listening and gaining a strong
connection with the patient and not just brushing them off, which leads to more sickness and pain.
Actually listening to the patient can be medicine for them. Additionally, in one American Greetings
card it argues that, with peace, quietness, and calmness the healing ... Show more content on

Both the card and Dr. Charon can be a healing to the patient and House. When House applied Dr.
Charon listening theory to his case it opened up positive things for him and the patient. House and the
patient both needed someone to listen to their story. With the patient being sexually assaulted, House
did not want to have his hands on a case like this. Dr. Charon believes that your identity can be shown
by your autobiography. By House being a doctor and not wanting to be on the same level as his
patient, it creates major conflict between the two. All the patient wanted was peace, calmness, and
someone to talk to. With House finally coming down to his patient s level and connecting with her as a
person and not just a patient, it allows not only the patient to feel comfort but also House to have that
same comfort feeling. This is beautiful in Charon s eyes. House listened for stories versus listening to
stories and ended up with peace, quiet, and

Impact Of Executive Orders On Society
Presidential Executive Orders and The Social Impact on American Society American Presidents are
constrained in the power they can wield because of the separation of powers between the branches of
government. Presidents use executive orders to compensate for their limited power. Presidents have
also taken unilateral action to address the needs and concerns of important political constituencies
before Congress is ready to act. (Gitterman 2017) Executive orders assume three forms: 1) self
executing, orders that are dependent on government agencies implementing the order, 2) Altering
institutional structures and processes, and 3) Symbolic arguing tools. (Mayer 2001) Presidents also
gain more control through unilateralism and collection action because the president s order is also
considered a command; when this command is given to the executive branch, it conforms to the
president s will. (Rudalevige 2012) Presidents must remember that they can be noble, but when they
apply their personal beliefs to executive orders, while ignoring public sentiment, executive opinions ...

(Cooper 2001) Executive orders can also influence program funding, such as welfare and food
assistance, healthcare, and social security under vague legislative instructions directing agencies to
decrease funds to the programs. (Orentlicher 2017) Economic policies of the federal government are
often influenced by executive orders that can cause an increase or decrease in federal revenue; a weak
economy with higher taxes makes it harder for families in poverty to meet basic needs, but a strong
long term economy provides increased revenue to the federal government, which could be used to
fund more social programs and reduce the poverty rate. (Gittell

Hitler s Story Essay
Hitler s Story
Hitler became chancellor in January 1933. At this stage he was not the dictator of Germany. The night
of the long knives helped him to establish his dictatorship. However, there were other aspects, which
helped him extend his control.
As soon as Hitler was in power, new elections were called. In the middle of the Reichstag campaign,
the Reichstag building went up in flames. It was this, which allowed Hitler to increase his control over
Germany.
On 27th February the Reichstag caught fire. When they police arrived they found Marinus van der
Lubbe on the premises. He confessed to starting the Reichstag Fire. However he denies that he was
part of a Communist conspiracy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And effectively allow him to establish a dictatorship. The Nationalists were prepared to support him in
this, but even then Hitler wouldn t have the two thirds of the votes needed. After he got his enabling
act, the Reichstag had in effect voted itself out of existence. It had voted to introduce a Nazi
dictatorship.
Now that Hitler had dictorial powers, he proceeded to extend his control further. Hitler banned
political parties. This law gave Hitler what he wanted a ban on the Communists and Socialists taking
part in an election campaign. The leaders from both parties were arrested and their newspapers were
shut down. To keep the peace and maintain law and order, the roamed the streets beating up those who
openly opposed Hitler. Hitler solemnly promised that the laws would only be used for emergencies,
but within months Germany s trade unions. Were also banned.
By 1934, there was only one major organisation not under Hitler s control. And that was the Army.
The army leadership were supported by big businesses. The army was totally opposed to being taken
over by the SA and was very suspicious of Ernst Rohm. The SA was a

Advantages Of Public Participation In Decision Making
1. Policy makers should always engage the public in all policy decisions. Argue for or against and
explain your view.
I believe that public participation should be at the heart of good governance and policy decision
making. However, the nature of engagement itself is highly contextual depending on governance
culture determined by elements like levels of corruption, transparency, equity and inclusiveness.
While theory on, the subject argues for and against the notion of public participation (Irvin et al, 2004)
, in my opinion the benefits of public engagement far outweigh the negative aspects. Moreover, the
advantages of public participation are several especially for countries where passivity is culturally
embedded or power distance is high and political gridlocks occur frequently. ... Show more content on

Economic Inequality Essay
Each year income increases in the United States. Economic inequality and political inequality may
have a connection where our democracy could be affected but americans have the ability to solve this
problem. Economic inequality refers to wealth or income between different groups or a society as a
whole. There have been past social movements that have tried to improve this problem such as women
s suffrage and more. We are still trying to resolve this issue of economic inequality.
In the United States, high standard of living is not equally shared with in the Americans. The 1970s
and 1990s was period where economic inequality began to grow. Emmanuel Saez, an economics
professor at UC Berkeley has been doing a research for the U.S. income inequality. He states that
there has been an increase since the 1970s, and has reached levels that have not been seen since 1928.
In 1928, the top 1% of families received 23.9% of all pretax income, while the bottom 90% received
50.7%. But the Depression and World War II dramatically reshaped the nation s income distribution,
by 1944 the top 1% s share was down to 11.3%, while the bottom 90% were receiving 67.5%, levels
that would remain more or less constant for the next three decades. But starting in the mid to late
1970s, the uppermost percent income share began rising dramatically, while that of the bottom 90%
started to fall. (DeSilver) Ever since then, economic inequality continues to increase, especially in the
last three decades.

  • 2. Proposal on Energy Audit Proposal Energy Audit: An energy audit is an inspection, survey and analysis of energy, flows for energy conservation in a building, process or system to reduce the amount of energy input into the system without negatively affecting the output(s). Energy audit identifies opportunities for financial savings by elimination of wasteful use of electricity, coal and fuel oil, without affecting the process or quality of product. Need for Energy Audit: It has been established that Energy savings of the order of 5 to 20% are possible by optimizing use of Energy with better house keeping, low cost retrofitting measures and use of Energy efficient equipment at the time of replacement, renovation or up gradation. Pakistan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is this first phase where you, the facility manager, can watch the work of the energy auditor to make sure he does not miss any equipment and allocates the equipment to their right meters. Phase II: Data Analysis The second phase expected of an energy audit is an analysis of the data obtained at the facility. Here the auditor leaves the facility and returns to his place of business to use his skills and computer programs to analyze the data collected. When he/she has analyzed your existing equipment s operation, it should match the demand and energy consumption on the electric bills. The analysis should show a breakdown of the percent of demand and energy used by various types of equipment such as air conditioning, heating, lighting, motors, etc. It should bench mark the facility s energy use index to similar facilities. Phase III: Recommend Energy Conservation with Cost Effective The third phase of an energy audit is to recommend energy conservation measures in equipment and operations. This would include replacing inefficient with high efficiency lighting, air conditioning, and motors, adding window tint to south and west facing windows, installing motion sensors, and purchasing there energy saving devices. Each item would have a cost and an annual savings associated with it so as to calculate a payback period and rate of return percent. They should be graphed to show individual as well as ... His theory was that evolution occurred through the inheritance of developed characteristics, or the use/disuse theory. 1831 A new world Charles Darwin was very young and still a student, joins the journey of the HMS Beagle as a naturalist. 1844 The First Essay Charles Darwin was working for many years, writes an essay on the theory of evolution. It becomes very popular. 1865 Heredity experimentation Mendel s works with pea plants is given out, setting the background for the basis of natural selection. 1892 Importance of DNA in heredity August Weismann gives out answers detailing how important DNA is to heredity. • 5. Why Do We Need Crime Statistics Across the country there are cities that range from millions of residents to thousands. There are also some towns that have a couple hundred barely enough to be called a town. When you look at crime you think of these places and wonder where there could possibly be more crime. In a city a lot of crime is normal do to the population but in a small town with smaller population you won t see that. The amount of crime reported and processed in a place are the crime statistics and it can vary depending on the situation. Crime statistics can be taken in two ways (boundless.com). One way it can be taken is crime reports and surveys. Surveys are super important because it can show that people who had a crime happen to them didn t call in or report the crime. A crime that is not reported to the police is a dark figure of crime (Schmalleger, Frank). These are super important and are sometimes found out about in only surveys. Imagine how many more crime statistics there would be if the dark figures of crime were reported and how many more criminals we could stop. Crime control helps keep order in cities. The crime statistics are taken in two major ways. collecting crime data are law enforcement reports and victimization statistical surveys (Boundless.com) In a big city where more crime happens more law enforcemt will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my personal opinion I think that it helps Crime Control a lot more and is more useful in keeping order. The main reason for this again is because if the amount of crime goes up in one place then we can send more enforcement to that specific area. This would be helpful everywhere it just another way to keep things under more control. Again, this is my opinion and the scales of justice can tell you something different. According to the scales of justice both processes are portrayed as equal but in all reality they are always tipping and that just depends on the situation and the statistics being ... • 7. Solar Energy Is The Best Type Of Energy When you close your eyes and think of solar energy, what do you see? Your response is most likely something positive such as an innovative, efficient, and renewable step forward into the future. Solar is also thought of to be the best type of energy because the sun will never go away. Well, solar energy will have to battle it out with natural gas and oil in the near future. As the price of oil and natural gas continues to drop, solar energy looks less desirable as other sources become more affordable in the short term (Sanburn 38). Josh Sanburn, author for Time Magazine, does have a relevant point while discussing solar energy s competitors. The handful of solar energy s positives makes it easy for the green thumbed consumers of today to overlook the many negatives. The negatives are very important though when on the topic of something that could possibly determine the future of the whole world s energy productivity. The number one issue with the continuation of solar energy is the price. The main solar energy companies try to sell their panels by repetitively saying that the panels will save money in the long run. Yet solar energy was the most costly energy source for kW/hr in 2015. The rooftop solar craze is wasting billions of dollars a year that could be spent on greener initiatives. It also is hindering the growth of much more cost effective renewable sources of power. Solar energy is able to stay relevant because of the large amount of subsidies placed by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Theme Of Education In The Film Waiting For Superman In the American public school system students are failing and society is doing nothing but taking a blind eye to the injustice. In the film, Waiting For Superman, director, Davis Guggenheim, investigates the various ways these schools are producing failing students in the United States. By following the stories of five children throughout the documentary we, the viewers, begin to take notice of the corrupt public school system as the children experience the inequalities of a low income school first hand. Guggenheim uses audio and pop up animations to effectively argue his claim and motivate the audience to change the way public schools are being operated. The audio in this film plays a huge role in how the audience perceives the information they are obtaining. Whether it is a lack of sound, or an upbeat song it creates an atmosphere or tone for that segment of the movie. Throughout the film aside from the statistics and the lives of the children being shown, Guggenheim incorporates clips from old tv shows, presidential speeches and more. When these clips are being viewed an energetic and quick song is being played. The information presented in these clips happens to be statements about how the president s believe they want to be the education president or the clips express happy faces of children learning and smiling teachers. Guggenheim presents the fact that up until the 1970 s, American public schools were the best in the world while children are doing experiments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Pros And Cons Of Solar Energy Even though only a small amount of the sun s heat ever reaches Earth, it is enough to power the whole world. Solar energy is always being provided to us by the Sun. Solar energy can be converted into electricity and heat. It helps provide the warmth necessary for people, plants, and animals to survive. With the help of today s technology, scientists have found a way to use the sun to help us in our everyday lives. The idea of solar energy has, resulted in the use of solar power. Thus, it could lead to a more modernized and efficient society. Solar energy is a renewable resource and is converted to electrical energy in two ways: by using photovoltaic materials or the thermal process. The photovoltaic method, generates electric power by using the solar energy to convert energy from the sun into a flow of electrons. (Sethia, et al., 2017). The thermal method is a process that uses the energy from the sun to heat a working fluid in an electric generating cycle. Solar energy is one of the most important sources of energy we could have because it is a non polluting energy. This, in turn, helps in lessening the greenhouse effect. The most popular way to use solar energy is through the use of solar panels. To generate the high temperatures necessary to make steam to generate electricity, the sunlight must be concentrated. Solar thermal technology often uses reflectors in the form of parabolic concentrators or flat mirrors to focus the sun s rays onto a water filled pipe. While at work, I was also able to interview a customer who used to be in the solar panel business. His name is Henry Caldwell, and he used to work for Turnbull Contracting, LLC, in Bowling Green, Missouri. During the interview, I was able to learn about the different systems they offer, and some types of solar panels available. The two systems available from Turnbull Contracting are the string inverter and the micro inverter. First, the string inverter is the most basic out of the two. The string system would be ideal for homes and businesses that have direct sunlight and openings. The panels in this system are all chained together so that when one panels gets shade, it also impact the other panels. However, the micro inverter is more up to date ... To clearly understand and define sexual promiscuity there must be a distinction made between the difference between sexual promiscuity and sexual addiction because they are controversially close in definition. Looking at the word sexual addiction itself any scholar would then presume that with addiction in the word, the definition would then be: a person pathologically habituated to sexual behaviors. In comparison, promiscuity is similar, defined with the same definition based upon different societal standards, genders and civil status. • 13. How Did Martin Luther King Beyond Vietnam A Time To Break... In Beyond Vietnam A Time to Break the Silence, Martin Luther King Jr. conveys a strong stance against the injustice and violence of the Vietnam War. He believes the Vietnam War is devastating the hopes of the poor and brutally highlighting inequality in America; he implores the reader to take action in the form of protest against these issues. To bolster his argument, King adroitly employs personal anecdotes, forced teaming, and comparisons to sway his readers. King begins his deft use of personal anecdotes with his discussion of his work in the ghettos. He narrates, ...[a deeper level of awareness] grows out of my experience in the ghettos of the North over the last three years especially the last three summers. As I have walked among the desperate, rejected, and angry young men, I have told them that Molotov cocktails and rifles would not solve their problems...But they ask and rightfully so what about Vietnam? This personal anecdote helps King s persuasiveness on several levels. First, this story establishes his credibility as a speaker. King is out in the streets working with young men addressing violence and injustice. These experiences provide him with a plethora of first hand knowledge in addition to providing the reader with an example that King practices what he preaches. On the other hand, this story helps King develop a strong sense of pathos in his piece. Many Americans have been taught that violence is never the answer; thus, they inherently acknowledge the truth of this statement. As King echoes this proverb to the young men, they argue What about Vietnam? By asking this question, the reader realizes their own government is going against one of their fundamental beliefs. This makes the reader question the morality of the war in Vietnam. Without personal anecdotes, King s message would lose its great emotional impact. Just as persuasive as his use of personal anecdotes are King s analogies. While discussing the detrimental effect the war in Vietnam will have on America, King describes, If America s soul becomes totally poisoned, part of the autopsy must read: Vietnam. In King s analogy, he refers to morality as the soul of America. The word soul can be defined as the purest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Millions of the beautiful feathery, ice crystals were brutally thrown toward the Earth, onto the frosted, dead grass, where they joined their companions in a heap of broken, mangled snowflakes. • 16. D Day And The Effect On Bedford Kaitlyn Overstreet Mrs. Trahan English II 28 October 2015 D Day and the Effect on Bedford, Virginia How can a small county have such a significant loss, and still recover immediately after and in the future? D Day took a big toll on the population of Bedford, Virginia on June 6, 1944. The events of D Day still influence this small community today. Germany invaded northwestern France in 1940; however, the Americans entered the war in December 1942 and formed an alliance with Britain. Adolf Hitler was aware of the threats of invasion and put Erwin Rommel in charge of defense operations (History.com). In January of 1944, General Dwight Eisenhower became commander of Operation Overlord. Since Britain and America were Allies, they used the alliance to deceive the Germans. They made the Germans think they were attacking Pas de Calais instead, they attacked Normandy. They also made the Germans think that Norway, as well as other locations, were potential targets (History.com). The Allies used many tactics to help with the deception, like fake equipment, a phantom army, and fraudulent radios. June 5th was the original day for the invasion. Unfortunately bad weather caused the attack to be postponed until the next day. On June 6th, at dawn, the Allied troops invaded Western Europe from the sea. The Allied armies spent several months preparing for this large amphibious attack. In addition, air attacks were used to keep German forces from moving troops in to protect the ... Micro Analysis of Micro analysis: Film: Blade Year: 1998 Director: Stephen Norrington In this micro analysis I will be analysing the film Blade which was produced in 1998 and directed by Stephen Norrington. The micro elements I am going to focus on are Mise en scene and cinematography. I will be analysing everything in the scene including props, costumes, facial expressions, gestures, setting, codes framing to determine how it creates meaning. In cinematography I will focus on the camera shots and angles and how these are used to create meaning. Both of these micro elements will be combined to show how they work together in creating meaning for the audience in the scene that I am studying. I am studying scene 1 which is the ... The shot gun is black and long in length. While the fight is commencing there is a feeling of claustrophobia that the setting creates and entrapment. This feeling is created through the shots used as he is fighting the vampires and the composition. Blade is position in the middle of most of the shots and vampires are surrounding him from either side fighting him. This gives a feeling of isolation and claustrophobia towards the audience. While the fight scene is going on the audience will notice that all the vampires are in red and Blade has high key lighting on him most of the time throughout the scene. This indicates danger around him and evil and also he is isolated. This shows the audience that Blade is going to be the hero because the light that is shining on him indicates hope to the audience but then again indicates coldness at the same time. As the scene goes on there is a mid shot of Blade having lots of stakes around his leg and plunging it into a vampire s heart. The mise en scene makes us think that it is a good vs. evil theme and that Blade is on a mission to kill all the vampires because strapped to his leg is a bundle of stakes, its like Blade was ready and waiting for the vampires to attack. Blade is then enclosed with vampires circling him. The shot used here is a long shot this creates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Symptoms Of Disorder, By John Warns One of the most obvious, yet in the nineteenth century completely unrecognised and undiagnosed, reasons behind symptoms of supposed insanity would be post natal depression. Gilmans narrator suffers from just this as she exclaims: Such a dear baby! And yet I CANNOT be with him, it makes me so nervous , conveying a certain disconnection with her son. The narrator feels her husband fails to understand her perspective: she is the complete opposite of her public sphere husband who is practical in the extreme... and he scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in figures . She yearns for a life which she believes this domestic role has stolen from her: Gilman s narrator longs to write but John warns that with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The intersection of confinement and gender is shown in the passage where the narrator says and she is all the time trying to crawl through. But nobody could climb through that pattern it strangles so; I think that is why it has so many heads. , the narrator sometimes sees many, many women imprisoned by the pattern. The pattern she sees on the wallpaper is a microcosm of society in which she, along with all women, is supressed of any desires other than those seen as etiquette. The narrator comes to an epic epiphany in TYW as she becomes empowered by confidence and self belief, which she desperately lacks throughout the story. When she says I ve got out at last , it is arguable that this sudden confidence was sprouted from her challenge with her self identity, leading her to mental degradation. The mental degradation is ambiguous however; it could be argued that this is only a stage of imaginative and possibly even physical freedom that the character is experiencing. Without this effect of insanity the change in status between John and the narrator would not have been possible because she would remain as subdued as she ever was. There is a similar revelation in ADH with Nora seemingly breaking away from Torvald s restraints however, this time with a lack of mental illness. Nora s realisation involves more of a conscious decision in the sense that her mind was not obscured by any mental illness; she finally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Reform And Implementation Of A New Defined Benefit... INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. A new 1st pillar earnings related defined benefit scheme named Jaminan Pensiun (JPN) was officially put into place on July 1st. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar program, the implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested by the World Bank (World Bank, 2008). In this paper, the adequacy, sustainability, predictability, and robustness of Indonesia s pension scheme will be evaluated in comparison to other countries with similar pension schemes. The focus will mostly be on the new program JPN, and to a lesser extent, the old Jamsostek program Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT). DB AND DC SCHEMES Indonesia has both of these schemes implemented in the pension system. Both schemes cover only the formal sector. DC (Jaminan Hari Tua) Prior to the 2015 reform, Indonesia s DC system was abused by contributors by withdrawing the balance long before the maturity of the fund/retirement . A reform was made so that the minimum contributory period was 10 years and a large part of the balance cannot be withdrawn until participants reach retirement age. • 20. Social Disorganization Theory On Urban Ecology And Burgess... Social Disorganization Nicole Hofmann Criminological Theory University of Tampa Abstract Social Disorganization theory has its roots in urban ecology and Burgess s concentric model. As part of the positivist paradigm of criminology, it poses a scientific examination of the connection of social disorganization and crime mediated by structural factors. The macro level research concludes that a weakening of social bonds between an individual and institutions of socialization will lead to delinquency. Over time, there has been much empirical support for the theory and extensions have been made to include more reliable measures of social disorganization within a community. This paper will discuss the origins of the theory developed by Shaw and McKay, then move forward to prominent empirical support, social disorganization research on suburban areas and lead up to valid criticism of the theory. Finally, there will be an examination of the policy implications originally posed and a proposal towards a more integrated approach addressing causes for social disorganization through the critical paradigm of criminology. Introduction Social disorganization theory is part of the positivist paradigm of criminology, a scientific approach to crime causes, and part of the Chicago School of crime. While trait theories under the positivist approach assume that crime is cause by internal factors, social disorganization theory relies on the assumption that crime is caused by environmental ... When it comes too natural disasters Hurricanes are by far one of the most devastating. The results can be catastrophic, possibly leaving the death tolls in thousands and leaving millions homeless. Even though the U.S. has responded to and recovered from Hurricanes, Meteorologists are presently not able to predict them early enough, and the U.S. government is unprepared financially, and responsively. Being well prepared for a hurricane is critical to saving peoples lives and their well being. The government needs to do more not for just hurricanes but any disaster. When it comes to predicting a Hurricane obviously the earlier it s predicted the better the outcome will be, it will give the government and citizens more time to prepare and evacuate city s or even a state if necessary. Once a hurricane has formed, it can be tracked. Scientists can usually predict its path for 3 5 days in advance (Samsot). Giving a city to a state possibly only 3 days to evacuate is not long enough for everyone to pack up as many belongings as they can and leave the area. If meteorologists are able to predict when a hurricane is going to form and project the path the time to prepare will increase significantly. • 28. Impact Of Executive Orders On Society Presidential Executive Orders and The Social Impact on American Society American Presidents are constrained in the power they can wield because of the separation of powers between the branches of government. Presidents use executive orders to compensate for their limited power. Presidents have also taken unilateral action to address the needs and concerns of important political constituencies before Congress is ready to act. (Gitterman 2017) Executive orders assume three forms: 1) self executing, orders that are dependent on government agencies implementing the order, 2) Altering institutional structures and processes, and 3) Symbolic arguing tools. (Mayer 2001) Presidents also gain more control through unilateralism and collection action because the president s order is also considered a command; when this command is given to the executive branch, it conforms to the president s will. Economic inequality and political inequality may have a connection where our democracy could be affected but americans have the ability to solve this problem. Economic inequality refers to wealth or income between different groups or a society as a whole. There have been past social movements that have tried to improve this problem such as women s suffrage and more. We are still trying to resolve this issue of economic inequality. In the United States, high standard of living is not equally shared with in the Americans. The 1970s and 1990s was period where economic inequality began to grow. Emmanuel Saez, an economics professor at UC Berkeley has been doing a research for the U.S. income inequality. He states that there has been an increase since the 1970s, and has reached levels that have not been seen since 1928. In 1928, the top 1% of families received 23.9% of all pretax income, while the bottom 90% received 50.7%. But the Depression and World War II dramatically reshaped the nation s income distribution, by 1944 the top 1% s share was down to 11.3%, while the bottom 90% were receiving 67.5%, levels that would remain more or less constant for the next three decades.
