Cosmic Perspective Summary
In his article The Cosmic Perspective , Neil DeGrasse Tyson introduces us to the idea of the cosmic
perspective. This concept puts all humanity in their place, for we are not the center of the universe.
Tyson accomplishes this by stating that the issues that seem so big to us are nothing when you see
them with the cosmic perspective. He also talks about how the earth is so small that it s like a speck of
dust compared to the universe. He goes on to say that without the cosmic perspective we wouldn t
even be the people we are today! With all this talk about the universe and how big it is, the connection
to the reader gets lost. However, Tyson brings it back down to earth by stating the following, A single
breathful draws in more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among all the facts that the cosmic perspective is vital to humanity there is some sentiment too. Tyson
introduces the atomic structure of everything in the universe. The basic building blocks of life. These
are carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen. All of these natural elements are found in the human
body as well as in the stars of the universe. We are thus a part of the stars and the stars are a part of us.
This brings up a feeling of importance to the reader. Throughout the article readers feel the weight of
the world coming in at them. In this short paragraph Tyson reminds them that they are a part of the
universe and have a place in life. One thing that is prevalent to the reader is the idea that the cosmic
perspective is more than seeing the universe. One must take into account that applying the perspective
is as important as knowing what the perspective entails. There is a particularly powerful section of this
article that states exactly how the cosmic perspective is vital to living in today s world. Ideas that the
cosmic perspective teaches how to see the beauty of the world, be open to new things, act selflessly,
and reach beyond our everyday needs assists humanity in living the best life for themselves. Tyson
invites his audience to consider the ideas that the cosmic perspective brings. We must push forward
with these newly found ideas and create a better world for ourselves and the generations to follow.

Organizational Change And The Implementation Of The Change...
Introduction:
Organisational change and the implementation of the change is a relevant issue when analysing the
Nora case. Organisation change is the ability of an organisation to change over time and is reliant on
the ability of the organisation to change the individual behaviour of individual employees (Robertson,
Roberts and Porras, 1993). Organisational change is a common occurrence in modern organisations
and the change can come from new employees to new strategies. It is relevant in the case where
organisational change is occurring however a lack of communication about the change has cause
issues among the organisation and its clients. The iceberg model created by George Clampitt (2005)
will be used in the analysis of the case and therefore recommendations can be made based on the
conclusions.
Background:
The unexpected consequence of implementing change is a relevant issue when analysing the Nora
case. Nora is a social worker at Bridges Care and Village, Clevedon, South Auckland. Charity Trust
National controls the operations and Bridges Care and Village, is one of the care centres they provide
for the elderly. The organisation was originally structured using a communal based model; drug,
alcohol, social, and child services. Charity Trust National now seek to change the organisations
structure and split services into three categories; age, community and residential. Georgina, one of the
staff tells Nora that there will be change to the whole organisation, resulting

Raccoon Control Case Study
Raccoon control is the removal and prevention of the nuisance raccoon population in America.
Raccoon control is a task that only should be handled by an expert. Laws pertaining to this industry
differ state to state, some mandating extermination and others prohibiting it. In most cases, raccoon
control is carried out by a company that specializes in the industry. They should have licenses and be
insured to conduct their services. They should be experienced and have the proper certifications
stating their qualifications. They should also use updated equipment and methods for the job. Why Do
We Need Raccoon Control? There are many potential damages that raccoons can inflict on residential
and commercial properties. They can find small openings that lead into crawls spaces, attics, roofs,
and more. If they decide to nest in these areas once they ve gained access, there is more potential
damage that can occur. They can saturate insulation, sheetrock, and wood with ... Show more content

by wild animals, as well as raccoons. Most professional wild animal removal companies will be able
to work side by side with a home owners insurance company to ease the hassle of the repair process.

Smallpox Viruses Essay
For approximately three thousand years, smallpox has ravaged and plagued the four corners of the
globe. In fact, in the 17 th and 18 th centuries, it was claimed to be the most infectious disease in the
West, with an astounding 90% mortality rate in America. It wasn t until 1796, with English surgeon
Edward Jenner s smallpox vaccination, that the world saw relief from this devastating virus. However,
even with this inoculation in use, the world continued to witness death from both the virus and the
vaccine. In the year 1966, it was estimated that 10 15 million infected citizens world wide had passed
away from smallpox that year alone ( History 12). As a result of these devastating numbers, in the
following year, 1967, the World Health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being a highly contagious, deadly and airborne virus, it would be virtually impossible to completely
eradicate smallpox. Peter Jahrling, the scientist that discovered the deadly Ebola Reston virus, once
stated, If you really believe there s a bioterrorist threat out there, then you can t get rid of smallpox. If
smallpox is outlawed, only outlaws will have smallpox ( Preston 4). To date, only Russia and the
United States have clearance to maintain the smallpox virus in two selected laboratories. Enforced by
the W.H.O, this was mandated to ensure that the virus cultures could be heavily monitored and
researched to prevent future outbreaks. Unfortunately, the power that is associated with having access
to a virus as devastating as smallpox is often interwoven with greed. For example, in 1991, British
inspectors discovered that the Russian government had been testing bio nuclear weapons using
smallpox in an unauthorized base ( Preston 6). Since smallpox can be used as a powerful weapon,
there is no way to determine what country may try to obtain it. Additionally, even if a country was
highly suspected of testing the virus for warfare, it would be difficult to prove that the country actually
had virus cultures. During that same inspection in Russia, for instance, the head of the base that was
testing this virus denied any association with the

Many retailers have used their Internet website to compete on cost. By offering sales transactions
online, these businesses may decrease their expenses by eliminating physical stores, reducing holding
inventory costs, and lowering the costs of individual transactions. Lowering costs also allows some
retailers to better compete on price a low cost strategy. The Internet has also allowed some businesses
to compete using differentiation. One example of using the Internet to compete on product/service
differentiation is The LEGO Group s LEGO Factory
(http://shop.lego.com/Product/Factory/About.aspx). With downloadable software customers can
design their own custom LEGO models, upload their designs over the Internet, and then purchase a
custom set of LEGO blocks that can be used to physically build the pre designed model. In this way,
The LEGO Group differentiates their offerings from its competitors who do not offer custom block

Diphenylamine And Electrolyte Lab Report
Objective: The overall goal of the experiment was to use cyclic voltammetry to characterize the
components of gunshot residue. Specifically, to characterize diphenylamine and copper(II)1. Cyclic
voltammetry is a method of measuring electron transfer through the reduction and oxidation potential
of a compound in solution2. The metal copper and the organic molecule diphenylamine can be
analyzed at the same time with the addition of acetate buffer as a supporting electrolyte. The data from
the voltammeter will be received at different scanning rates in order to examine the electrochemical
behavior. The reactions will be determined to be either electrochemically reversible, irreversible, or
quasi reversible1.
Instruments:
The instrument used was a potentiostat with a glassy carbon working electrode, platinum auxiliary
electrode, and silver/silver chloride reference electrode. This instrument is being used due to its ability
to simultaneously collect data from both diphenylamine and copper with the addition of an acetate
buffer. Microsoft excel was used in order to plot the data and simple calculations1.
Experimental:
The potentiostat was set up by the instructor with acetate buffer. The sample was deaerated with
nitrogen gas for 5 to 8 minutes in order to remove oxygen. Oxidation and ... Show more content on

The Eradication Of Research Misconduct
In our society today there seems to be extensive competition involving research and being the first
group or the first individual to discover valuable information. This leads to a great amount of research
misconduct involving clinical research and deception to the public. This is unacceptable because it
possesses potential to directly affect the general public. Unfortunately there has been monumental
misconduct in clinical research that has directly affected the general population. The eradication of
research misconduct is inevitable unless there is a serious change of policy and how those policies are
enforced. Research misconduct is a problem all around the globe, and there are organizations
everywhere that are attempting to completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plagiarism is actually the most common type of misconduct. We also discussed the potential danger of
research misconduct along with the reasons why researchers chose to partake in research misconduct.
The reasons involved avoiding setbacks and protecting the researcher s credibility, but none of these
reasons seem to be equal to the risk of losing credibility. Scientific fraud seems to be appearing in all
fields ranging from paleontology to nanotechnology. Along with this, certain surveys show that 40
percent of researchers were aware of the misconduct (Gupta 1). There have been numerous attempts to
completely eradicate medical research misconduct but only a few techniques have been proven to be
effective. The most impressive one seems to be the changing of policy. A change of policy on research
misconduct or the introduction of an investigation committee would make it harder for researchers to
fabricate data to avoid setbacks along with making it extremely clear that consequences will be harsh.
There have been an uncountable amount of precautions recorded that were basically an attempt to end
research misconduct, and many of them proved to be effective. This has been a problem that affects a
majority of the globe including Iraq where Shirin Dijalalinia experimented quite a bit with misconduct
policies before she discovered a effective policy. In her article, A Proposed Strategy for Research

1. Executive Summary
1.1 Purpose of Report
The purpose of this report is to distinguish the type of cost centre of sales branches and to also
compare the old and new budgeting systems at Thoja.
Thoja Company is a decentralised company in which its organisational structure is functionally based.
The company s sales branches are recognised as discretionary cost centres. The company s president,
Harry Hansen has decided to implement a new budgeting system for the sales branches in order to
prevent budget slacks. The reason for implementing the new budgeting system is to attempt to lower
selling expenses and sales volume together.
The new budgeted system at Thoja comprises of fixed and variable costs in order to associate selling
expenses and sales volumes together. With the implementation of the new budgeting system, the
company overcame the partiality and biasing forecasts, however the new system also had some
potential disadvantages as tight budgets may encourage managers to cut costs and as a result, this will
be damaging the company s long term benefits. Furthermore, the sales branches at

respect to the size of their new store. Along with that, it is important for Hallstead to eliminate their

spending the same amount on advertising as they did when they were in the old, smaller store. To start
off, I would recommend to increase their advertising by the percentage increase in their new store
size: 50%. Also, Hallstead s should consider adding internet advertising to increase its market size.
This may be an opportunity for cheap advertising. The sales commission is an unnecessary cost that is
not practiced by Hallstead s competitors. The managers should take away this variable cost to increase
profitability. By making these changes, adding promotions and advertisement, taking away an
unnecessary variable cost this would increase profitability and pull Hallstead s out of its declining

Essay about Dental Office Floor Plan
The dental office floor plan detailed above clearly and cleanly divides the dental space into 3 clear
segmented areas: non clinical (patient and administration), clinical, (dental delivery) and clinical
support (supplies, storage, and laboratory). The non clinical space has the most diverse user traffic
patterns since patients and family members, clinical, and non clinical staff may use this area. This non
clinical space should not be blended with the clinical and clinical support areas. The bottleneck areas
are the patient in take and out take or registration area of the patient reception desk. Inherently, all
dental practices have practice waste, complexity, and variation built into the dental floor plan or the
design of the practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the staff bathrooms should not be placed into the clinical areas but near the staff break

Practice design has direct relationship to patient flow. A common held belief in dentistry is that there
should be a separation between general dentistry and hygiene. This concept has each dental provider
working from dedicated general dentistry spaces, chairs, and setups and dental hygiene can only
perform cleanings in hygiene chairs and rooms. This forms dental departmental walls or work areas
done by dedicated function and creates a lot of walking and patient scheduling delays. The definition
of dental inefficiency and ineffectiveness is when staff members walk from the end of one hallway to
another to tell the dentist that the patient is ready for an exam or a procedure.
The concept of a favorite room to deliver care for those long, involved procedures must also be
eliminated. When all dental operatory or treatment rooms are designed and equipped identically a
provider can deliver the full spectrum of dental care in each and every room. Every dental operatory
then becomes a favorite room. This allows your front desk staff to be more flexible in scheduling both
urgent and emergent patients and for dental assistants to setup patients more quickly. Dental
operatories when appropriately dThree practice activity areas affect patient flow and they

women are easily considered one of the most severely marginalized groups in the United States
because not only did they have to combat being enslaved which encoded a heavy deal of oppression
on its own they also had to fight the term Jezebel which was a way of creating a huge gap between

A Consensus On International Climate Change Policy
One of the greatest threats to humankind present in the 21st century is climate change. Human
behavior, especially since industrial revolution led over 600 thousand tons of carbon to be emitted into
the atmosphere from fossil fuels which thus enhanced greenhouse affects, and alters the natural cycle
of global warming and cooling. The consequence of such alteration has devastating effects globally as
drastic temperature increases experienced in the recent years are causing widespread damages . Effects
of climate change not only helps deteriorate the biome as quarter of all species could be pushed to
extinction by 2050 , but also poses a large threat to living conditions and challenges existing patterns
of energy use and security Given that climate change is one of the most pressing issues experienced in
the modern era there has been little progress in the United Nations (UN) led climate negotiations . The
reason as to why states cannot come to a consensus on international climate change policy is because
states reside in an anarchic international system in which states are by nature: conflictual, self
interested and focused on attaining relative gain as shown through neo realist theory. In ability for
states to negotiate a climate change action plan will be shown through states pursuit of relative gains
in the Kyoto Protocol, the role of economic growth in terms of relative gains, and climate change lag/

Carbon Emissions Essay
CARBON EMISSIONS OVER A YEAR AND PRATICAL REDUCTION METHODS Michael Pratt,
Brandon Brown 1School of Electrical and Computer Engineering Georgia Institute of Technology
Atlanta, GA 30332 ABSTRACT The average American citizen consumes energy over the course of a
year which contributes to mankind s total carbon emissions. Given current studies on the effects of
Global Warming and carbon emissions, it is beneficial to analyze ways to reduce energy usage, and
thus carbon emissions. The experimenters are assumed to be average American citizens aged 18 25 in
terms of yearly carbon emissions. Their yearly energy usage was approximated, and local power plant

The second major contributory factor to carbon emissions is exhaust from vehicles. The vehicular
carbon footprint of a college student who lives on campus is most likely less than the national average,
so a more specific average citizen who is a student going to college out of state will be considered
here. In the following graph the miles per year column will already have factored in the number of
people sharing the mileage of the activity and the number of times the activity is performed per year.

The Level Of Self Esteem And Academic Performance Of...
Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the level of self esteem and academic
performance of PSY105 student at the HELP University Campus in 2014. Convenience sampling was
used to collect the 30 samples from the population, without specific gender and ethnicity. Based on the
literature it is stated that having a high self esteem produces higher academic performance. The
researcher used an existing Rosenberg Self Esteem scale to obtain a raw data of each participant. The
statistical test used is the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The study was based on a
non experimental correlational design. The results shows a significant negative correlation between
the level of self esteem and academic performance, this concludes the level of self esteem do influence
academic performance.
The level of Self Esteem and Academic Performance Self Esteem has been one of the elements that
play a role in the student s life of education. Past study has found high correlation between the level of
self esteem as the elements that affects academic performance, it shows that majority of student with
higher self esteem would be enthusiastically motivated to get involved in the learning environment
(Colquhoun Bourne, 2011). The aim of this research is to determine the correlation between the level
of self esteem and academic performance. This research begin focusing on two general factors of self

Jews. It is a solemn and holy time of the year. Starting on the first and second day of September or
October. This day is also known as the Day of Remembrance and the Day of Judgment. These days
are a reminder of how God created the world and responsibility that God has appointed them. Another
reason is that they believe during this time is when God judges their fate for the next year. So they use
these days to overlook their life and repair their relationship with God. An important part of this day is
to sound the Shofar, which is horn that is blasted in the book of Leviticus and Numbers. A total of 100

Middle Passage Stage
The first stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade was known as the Outward Passage . This is where
ships carried goods from Europe to trade in Africa for captured slaves. The Middle Passage was the
second stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The last stage of the Transatlantic Slave Trade was the
Return Passage which is where ships returned back to Europe from the New World, usually carrying
cargo that consisted of sugar and tobacco they got in exchange for the slaves. The Middle Passage was
infamously known as the most cruel and inhumane way to ship slaves from Africa to the West Indies.
The enslaved people were packed onto ships, forced to lay next to each other shoulder to shoulder.

However, the measurements varied depending on the ship. Women and children were usually not
chained and remained unshackled. Men stayed in separate holding areas that were on opposite sides of
the ship. Although there was only such little space provided to the enslaved people, the captain and
crew boarded more than 600 slaves onto a ship at a time. Between the 16th and 20th century, 10 to 15
million enslaved Africans were forcibly shipped across the Atlantic.
The conditions were incredibly harsh on the Middle Passage . When the ships docked at port for rest,
there was always a chance that they could be attacked from enemies or pirates. They were even
sometimes attacked by native tribes if they did not like their arrival. If the ships were faced with bad
weather conditions, it would make the journey longer. Due to this the daily food rations the slaves had
twice a day would be reduced greatly which resulted in many of them getting sick or nearly starving to
death. These weather conditions affected both the crew and captain as well as the enslaved Africans,
but the conditions were much worse for the enslaved Africans as they also dealt with mental, physical,
and sexual abuse/assault from the captain and crew. These punishments were mainly due to rebellion
of the enslaved Africans. Due to the slaves outnumbering the crew, they thought the rebellion would
be successful. In spite of the punishments, the slaves often rebelled or

Character Analysis Of The Snow In Trapped, By Michael...
It was one of those bull s eyes in history, one of those points where everything comes together, where,
if you were at that place at that time, you were part of something big. It meant that we weren t going
to get picked up, not on that day and maybe not ever (Northrop 1). The mood created by Northrop in
Trapped is displayed to the readers as negative vibe. Being trapped at a school in a blizzard is
obviously not a good thing. So, as a visual representation to the teenagers situation, the snow is
described negatively too. In the book Trapped, Michael Northrop uses the snow to symbolize dreadful
times and loneliness. Throughout the text, Michael mentions the snow. Considering the book s about a
blizzard, that d be normal, right? However, in my view, the snow symbolizes something, like dreadful
times. Scattered around, the context surrounding the snow can be interpreted as how you feel during
those times. For example, later in the book, when the students realize just how bad it is, they explain it
as, There was no higher ground, no place left for us to go (Northrop 158). Here, a relation to people
feeling as if there s nowhere else to go, so they re trapped in the horrible event occurring can be made.
Results tend to be mourning over those poor times in people s lives. Similarly, Michael connects that
to how we view bad situations. Early on in the book, description of the snow is showed as it being
small flakes , like grains of sugar... the flakes had fattened up and

Gold Mining In South Carolina
South Carolina s commercial gold mining began in 1829, two years after the first discovery of gold in
the area [1]. Mining continued with variations in productivity until World War II, when all gold
mining was abandoned until renewed interest during the 1980s [1]. Figure 1., seen above, shows the
amount of gold produced per year in troy ounces per year and the percentage of total US gold
production [2]. Overall, gold production increases with time as newer mining techniques increase
efficiency. In 1836, South Carolina produced above 11% of total gold for the United States. During
this time, there were a number of different gold extraction techniques that involved mercury [3]. The

Our firm is planning to launch a series of seminars/forums for clients, referral sources and in a few
cases the public. The firm will not charge to attend the series as we view as a way to showcase our
expertise and bring value to our clients and the community.
In particular, I have proposed a forum that focuses on how the tax policies of the presidential
candidates would affect businesses as explained by the firm s tax professionals in objective terms. In
addition, I believe that those in attendance would be interested in your perspective on the candidates
chances of winning during the waning weeks of the campaign.
Unfortunately, I do not have all the specifics for the event at this time. A number of the details will be
determined by your willingness and availability to participate as well as the availability of the

Reflection On Group Presentation
In the group presentation, my group and I presented on the issue of isms. This included focus on
sexism, ageism, and racism. I felt that each person in our group was very diverse and unique which
made our presentation stand out with having a little bit of individuality from each member in the
presentation. Our main goal of communication was to inform the audience on what exactly each ism
is, discuss where each one is found, and how the are influenced in today s society. From the start of
the group presentation process, I found myself being an emergent leader. With a lack of
communication when our group first got together, I felt we were in need of leadership because it
seemed nobody else was going to do anything such as getting each others numbers or creating a group
name, so I decided to take charge the best I could. As time went on our group started to get our stuff
together. With that said if we all began brainstorming and set up some procedural needs from the start,
the group would of been on the same page and maybe some wouldn t have waited until the last
moment. I was thankful for Jonathan for stepping up and helping the group get started with an outline
and focusing on a question of policy along with answering any other questions that arose during the
presentation process. Once the deadline got closer however is when we communicated the most.
Sounds logical but my hope was that we all have most of the work done prior than the day before it
was due so we could

Betrayal Trauma Theory Paper
According to the BTT (Betrayal Trauma Theory), a sexual or domestic abuse victim can exhibit a
deeper trauma if the betrayal originates from a person the victim shared a close relationship with. This
comes to show deception from a close individual will have a greater impact than hate from a foe.
There are multiple components that come into play when explaining the reasons why an injustice from
a friend can cause such distress. There are two reasons that tend to stand out the most, which could
possibly be the most influential. First of all, a friend has gained trust from the victim and can thus be
perceived as a trustworthy person. A friend is the one who helps the victim with difficult life events
and life choices; such as the death of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one expects to be betrayed by someone they hold close and dear to them. Someone who has helped
them, someone they have chosen to confide in, someone who the victim thought would protect them
from harm without knowing the person they should have been wary of was the individual they cared
for. On the other hand, the foe is their enemy for a reason. They are meant to be causing harm to the
victim who is already prepared for such attack. The victim knows what is expected of their enemy,
what they should be prepared for mentally and physically. The unforeseen events are justification for
the ample internal damage from a betrayal compared to the resentment from an antagonist. Although
many would say the hostile party is able to influence the mental, emotional, and physical state of the
sufferer to a greater degree than a one time betrayal but compare it to a natural disaster and a terrorist
attack. When a natural disaster occurs, the public is warned beforehand of the events to come in order
to prevent as much damage as possible while in a terrorist attack it is unforeseen. The attacker is able
to cause more harm to those involved without the victims being able to prevent it. In this instance, the
natural disaster would represent hate from a foe because it is preventable while the terrorist attack
would represent a betrayal from a friend which has never been avoidable. The enemy has always been
seen as a person

Gregory Orr A Hero s Journey Analysis
A hero s quest is a destined step by step process for many characters in a heroic quest. Campbell s idea

Chicana Epistemology
A general definition of Epistemology is the theory of knowledge; it s methods, validity, and scope.
From a Chicana Feminism standpoint, I believe it is how we analyze knowledge from the culture that
influences our daily lives. Chicanas strive and grow through the teachings and stories of past activists
which tells us the changes that have been made and the changes that are still to come. They are
important because it gives us different perspectives and understandings of Chicana history. Not every
story it the same, but there is a connection. Through this theory, we all gain the opportunity to see
through a Chicana feminist scope into each other s stories.

MY PREDICTION
The thing which I expect to happen is the more acid added to water the faster the reaction will happen.
Also the hotter the solution the quicker the reaction will happen.
THEORY TO BACK UP PREDICTION
This will happen because when the temperature increases it will give the particles energy which will
make the particles move quicker causing more particles to collide this will make the reaction quicker. I

I will keep these things the same because I want the experiment to be a fait test. (Keeping the amount

A Very Brief History Of Tea In Imperial Japan
Tea was founded by the Emperor of China, 5000 years ago. While on a trip, slaves of the Emperor
were boiling water for drinking and tea leaves fell into the water. The Emperor drank the tea and
found it refreshing. Lu Yu, a Chinese scholar of Buddhist Monks, codified the various methods of tea
cultivation and preparation in Ancient China. This helped him to introduce tea to the Imperial Japan.
Japan was first introduced to tea by the Buddhist priest Yeisei. Encouraging the use of tea in religious
meditation. Yeisei became known as the Father of Tea . Over the years, tea has been introduced to
many countries such as Europe, America, England, Russia, Britain, and Asia.
There has been several different ways learned to prepare tea. Each country may have a different
method to add. As stated above, the first way discovered was to simply boil water and add the whole
tea leaves. Later, it will be a practice to crush the tea leaves and steep the leaves into boiling water.
Thomas Sullivan of New York developed tea bags for restaurant use. Crushed tea leaves are placed

However, if we look at criminals and see if they are either born or made, psychopaths and sociopaths
have different personalities.
Psychopaths would be born criminals where their genetics have relations to their actions where they
could hide their feelings and pretend to care, but in reality, they do not. Sociopaths, in contrast, are
either made by their surroundings and parental influence. Therefore, if Skinner had done the same
experiment on human, who have more capabilities to think than animals, people could have gone to
the food straight. They could have yelled or called for help for food. They could have shown more
aggressive behaviors than animals and could have simply asked what to do to people who were
conducting the experiments. And if people who got experimented repeated their actions over and over
again for being right and getting what they wanted, their

people generally believe. For example, if I do my homework and get $5, I would continue

The Civil War Of Syria
The civil war in Syria has lasted for 5 years; yet, there is little hope for a prompt end to the turmoil. It
has developed into quite a unique civil war from the political perspective. Drawing in new actors who
have pursued their own goals within the country and contributed to the current condition of Syria. The
basis for this war and the conflicts within it have also had a large effect at the global level. The initial
welling for revolution in Syria was caused by a chain of regime changes across the Middle East in
2011 known as the Arab Spring. Beginning in Tunisia, civil protests arose against the long established
dictatorship in the country. The protests did not result in war but rather the resignation of the leader. It
freed citizens from a government that they believed had ignored their rights and established a new
administration which would hopefully correct the mistreatment the citizens had endured. Tunisia s
successful revolution had served as inspiration for the nearby country of Egypt to follow suite. The
protests in Egypt lasted for 18 days, during which internet was mostly blocked by the state to quell the
rumors of violence and rebellion. The defense against protesters failed and the president was stripped
of all power and jailed. News of two successful rebellions against oppressive regimes soon spread
across the Arab world. Libya was the next to try its hand at an uprising. The established power would
not be so easily removed however and the country descended

Comparing Story Of An Hour And Gail Goldwin s A Sorrowful...
Kate Chopin s, author of The story of an Hour, and Gail Goldwin, author of A sorrowful Women use
unique diction to to describe their main characters. In the Story of an Hour Kate describes a woman
with a heart condition. She is faced with the horrible news of her husband, that might be dying. I like
how Chopin s uses many descriptive words to explain the state Louise is in. As well as Goldwin uses
symbols and metaphors in her writing to intrigue us to keep on reading. Both the writers have different
ways of writing but use similar techniques to portray a message.
Kate uses many descriptive adjectives to describe a scene or character in the story. Many writers use
adjectives but Kate came up with bizarre but fascinating ones at the same time. My favorite line of the
story is There stood, facing the open window, a comfortable, roomy armchair. Into this she sank,
pressed down by a physical exhaustion that haunted her body and seemed to reach into her soul. This
sentence describes when Mrs. Mallard here s the news about her husband and locks herself in her
room. Chopin s grasped my attention instantly by the diction she chose to write her short story. ...

A scene that I think is very meaningful is when Kate describes Mrs. Mallard in at her window. For
example, She could see in the open square before her house the tops of trees that were all aquiver with
the new spring life. The delicious breath of rain was in the air. In the street below a peddler was crying
his wares. The notes of a distant song which someone was singing reached her faintly, and countless
sparrows were twittering in the eaves. I feel like this quote describes that she is now free to live
without her husband. It symbolizes freedom that she has been wanting as you can tell later on in the

Cost accounting information play a crucial role for manufacturing organizations in making internal
decisions. It is important for management to understand the cost implications of any decisions that
they make for their organizations. Managerial accounting under which cost accounting lies, provides
the management with a break down of internal manufacturing and operational costs that help them in
making the right decisions for their organizations. Some of the decisions that are made using cost
accounting information include pricing decisions, production quantity decisions and inventory
management decisions. It is important for manufacturing firms to monitor internal costs and control
them in order to realize profits. This presentation will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards Essay
As new technologies develop and become mainstream over time, there needs to be specific regulations
in place. It is best if these sets of regulations are developed and maintained independently from battery
manufacturers, automobile manufacturers, and/or suppliers. Currently today there are many bodies
that maintain these standards. A few of them include UL (Underwriters Laboratories), IEC
(International Electrotechnical Commission), NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association),
SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), UN (United Nations), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers), JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards or Japanese Standards Association), GB
(Guo Biao or National Standard for the People s Republic of China), US DOT FMVSS ( Federal
Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Regulations), and BATSO (Battery Safety Organization). These
organizations set the standards to help minimize safety risks which include but are not limited to fire,
explosion, and shock. These standards are in place to try and assess the safety risk associated with
these new technologies and to help engineer them to be safer. This research paper will focus on the
UN ECE 100 standards, FMVSS 305, and UN 38.3.

Non healing wounds, also known as chronic wounds, are defined as wounds that do not show
improvement in healing within four weeks. Chronic wounds affect millions of people around the
world and health care expenses in the United States can cost more than one billion dollars. Chronic
wound healing is a complicated process with different pathologies depending on the patients
condition. Four highly integrated and overlapping phases compose the wound healing process:
hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and tissue remodeling. Occurrence of chronic wounds is
usually due to unsuccessful progression through the normal stages of healing, and frequently enters a
state of pathologic inflammation. Several cell types are involved in the wound healing

UNIT 1 INDIVIDUAL PROJECT MGT 485 0903B 03 GLOBAL STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
ALFRED SIU AUGUST 30, 2009 BY: TINA RAULERSON The most concerning threat USPS faces
is the rise in operating expenses, particularly the increase in energy prices and health insurance
premiums. Energy prices are at all time highs. With USPS dependency in both, air and ground
transportation, energy prices will play a major role in the company s budget. USPS is part of the
Federal Employee Health Benefit program and premiums for these benefits have steadily increased
over the last couple of years. For example, premiums increased in 2003 by 11.1%. Health benefit
payments increased 14% in 2003 from 2002, and by 15.8% in 2004 from 2003 levels. ... Show more

Long Term Action Plan USPS should gradually replace their aging delivery vehicles with hybrid or
electric vehicles to reduce delivery costs and dependency on gas. A hybrid vehicle not only saves the
Postal Service 32 40% on fuel costs (roughly $1200/car/year based on 30k miles), depending on the
vehicle, but USPS would also receive a $3,000 tax incentive on every vehicle. In cities, electric
vehicles or SMART cars could be used since delivery routes are shorter with frequent stops. Aside
from being fuel efficient, they adhere to the ever stricter emissions rules. With well over 200,000
postal vehicles currently in the system, savings would approach the $1billion mark. Since USPS has
monopoly in Standard Mail, prices in this sector should be raised while prices in the package delivery
sector should be lowered, albeit marginally, in order to attract higher market share. A raise in first class
postage of a little over 8% to $.40 is presently being reviewed. Higher revenues would result from the
newly raised prices in the monopolized Standard Mail market, while higher volume sales from the
package delivery segment would boost revenues. USPS should first appeal to the US government to
leave the Federal Employee Health Benefit program. Then, USPS should research other health plans
that are more cost efficient, whether it be a new carrier in the private sector, a change in benefits
coverage or alter the level of an employees contribution to

The Era Of George Washington
In today s military we think of tactics and strategy in quite a different manner than in the time of
Washington. During his time strategy and tactics were not known by the name in fact the term did not
even exist, but they were know by thoughts, processes, and rules that were passed down through
generations in which leadership waged war. Until the nineteenth century, war was the sport of kings,
and strategy the rules of the game. (Palmer, 2012, p.3) As we look into the era of George Washington
we can see three general aspects of warfare that were used. The first being tactics which we can
describe as being the theory of the use of military forces in combat (Palmer, 2012, p. 6) or generally
speaking how we fight our enemy. This how we fight aspect goes into the basic make up and use of
forces, such as we are going to use our light infantry to suppress the forward progress of our enemy
while our cavalry uses there speed advantage to flank around the enemy and begin an aggressive
assault. Another war aspect we see in this time period is strategy. Strategy is very similar to tactics but
it instead looks more into where and whether we should fight to gain a victory (Palmer, 2012, p. 6 7).
The aspect of strategy also looks into numbers, in which we can say we are going up against a force
that is estimated to be in the range of seven thousand militia and two thousand cavalry units, because
of this we should attack them further back into the wood line where we have the greater

Speechnow. Org V. Federal Election Commission Case Study
In a court case in 2010, Speechnow.org v. Federal Election Commission, the ability to spend virtually
limitless money on an election was given under first amendment protection. With this ruling, Political
Action Committees, or super PACs, have become tremendously influential when it comes to elections.
Unlike regular PACs, these super PACs cannot directly donate any raised money directly to this
political candidate. While these parties can not directly donate this raised money, and must be
independent of the candidate they support or oppose, there is a huge debate of the unclear line
involved with who can be a part of these super PACs. For example, Obama had his Republican
challenger and former aides of his office supporting his super PAC. ... Show more content on

Candidates such as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are surrounded by money. This will allow for
easy unlimited funding from the citizens who agree with their views and will benefit from them
winning. Presidents would obviously reward these organizations once elected in one way or another.
This will allow wealthy individuals to make a much more significant impact on elections. While old
PACs had a cap on how much could be donated by individuals, while prohibiting organizations and
companies from donating, these new isolates super PACs can receive unlimited donations. A major
company may decide to spend a few million dollars to support a specific candidate if it could return
profit on the investment from taxation policies the winning candidate puts in place. This puts a large
importance on money in the election, and less on debates and views. This is shown in the current
election, with two of the candidates being some of the biggest financial influencers in the United
States. Donald Trump is one of the faces of the business world and has huge influences in the business
world. Hillary Clinton was a former first lady and has many large backings. This election has two of

  • 2. Cosmic Perspective Summary In his article The Cosmic Perspective , Neil DeGrasse Tyson introduces us to the idea of the cosmic perspective. This concept puts all humanity in their place, for we are not the center of the universe. Tyson accomplishes this by stating that the issues that seem so big to us are nothing when you see them with the cosmic perspective. He also talks about how the earth is so small that it s like a speck of dust compared to the universe. He goes on to say that without the cosmic perspective we wouldn t even be the people we are today! With all this talk about the universe and how big it is, the connection to the reader gets lost. However, Tyson brings it back down to earth by stating the following, A single breathful draws in more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among all the facts that the cosmic perspective is vital to humanity there is some sentiment too. Tyson introduces the atomic structure of everything in the universe. The basic building blocks of life. These are carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen. All of these natural elements are found in the human body as well as in the stars of the universe. We are thus a part of the stars and the stars are a part of us. This brings up a feeling of importance to the reader. Throughout the article readers feel the weight of the world coming in at them. In this short paragraph Tyson reminds them that they are a part of the universe and have a place in life. One thing that is prevalent to the reader is the idea that the cosmic perspective is more than seeing the universe. One must take into account that applying the perspective is as important as knowing what the perspective entails. There is a particularly powerful section of this article that states exactly how the cosmic perspective is vital to living in today s world. Ideas that the cosmic perspective teaches how to see the beauty of the world, be open to new things, act selflessly, and reach beyond our everyday needs assists humanity in living the best life for themselves. Tyson invites his audience to consider the ideas that the cosmic perspective brings. We must push forward with these newly found ideas and create a better world for ourselves and the generations to follow. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Organizational Change And The Implementation Of The Change... Introduction: Organisational change and the implementation of the change is a relevant issue when analysing the Nora case. Organisation change is the ability of an organisation to change over time and is reliant on the ability of the organisation to change the individual behaviour of individual employees (Robertson, Roberts and Porras, 1993). Organisational change is a common occurrence in modern organisations and the change can come from new employees to new strategies. It is relevant in the case where organisational change is occurring however a lack of communication about the change has cause issues among the organisation and its clients. In fact, in the 17 th and 18 th centuries, it was claimed to be the most infectious disease in the West, with an astounding 90% mortality rate in America. It wasn t until 1796, with English surgeon Edward Jenner s smallpox vaccination, that the world saw relief from this devastating virus. However, even with this inoculation in use, the world continued to witness death from both the virus and the vaccine. In the year 1966, it was estimated that 10 15 million infected citizens world wide had passed away from smallpox that year alone ( History 12). Being a highly contagious, deadly and airborne virus, it would be virtually impossible to completely eradicate smallpox. Peter Jahrling, the scientist that discovered the deadly Ebola Reston virus, once stated, If you really believe there s a bioterrorist threat out there, then you can t get rid of smallpox. If smallpox is outlawed, only outlaws will have smallpox ( Preston 4). To date, only Russia and the United States have clearance to maintain the smallpox virus in two selected laboratories. Enforced by the W.H.O, this was mandated to ensure that the virus cultures could be heavily monitored and researched to prevent future outbreaks. Unfortunately, the power that is associated with having access to a virus as devastating as smallpox is often interwoven with greed. For example, in 1991, British inspectors discovered that the Russian government had been testing bio nuclear weapons using smallpox in an unauthorized base ( Preston 6). Since smallpox can be used as a powerful weapon, there is no way to determine what country may try to obtain it. Additionally, even if a country was highly suspected of testing the virus for warfare, it would be difficult to prove that the country actually had virus cultures. • 7. Diphenylamine And Electrolyte Lab Report Objective: The overall goal of the experiment was to use cyclic voltammetry to characterize the components of gunshot residue. Specifically, to characterize diphenylamine and copper(II)1. Cyclic voltammetry is a method of measuring electron transfer through the reduction and oxidation potential of a compound in solution2. The metal copper and the organic molecule diphenylamine can be analyzed at the same time with the addition of acetate buffer as a supporting electrolyte. The data from the voltammeter will be received at different scanning rates in order to examine the electrochemical behavior. The reactions will be determined to be either electrochemically reversible, irreversible, or quasi reversible1. Instruments: The instrument used was a potentiostat with a glassy carbon working electrode, platinum auxiliary electrode, and silver/silver chloride reference electrode. This instrument is being used due to its ability to simultaneously collect data from both diphenylamine and copper with the addition of an acetate buffer. Men stayed in separate holding areas that were on opposite sides of the ship. Between the 16th and 20th century, 10 to 15 million enslaved Africans were forcibly shipped across the Atlantic. The conditions were incredibly harsh on the Middle Passage . When the ships docked at port for rest, there was always a chance that they could be attacked from enemies or pirates. They were even sometimes attacked by native tribes if they did not like their arrival. If the ships were faced with bad weather conditions, it would make the journey longer. Due to this the daily food rations the slaves had twice a day would be reduced greatly which resulted in many of them getting sick or nearly starving to death. These weather conditions affected both the crew and captain as well as the enslaved Africans, but the conditions were much worse for the enslaved Africans as they also dealt with mental, physical, and sexual abuse/assault from the captain and crew. These punishments were mainly due to rebellion of the enslaved Africans. Due to the slaves outnumbering the crew, they thought the rebellion would be successful. • 25. Character Analysis Of The Snow In Trapped, By Michael... It was one of those bull s eyes in history, one of those points where everything comes together, where, if you were at that place at that time, you were part of something big. It meant that we weren t going to get picked up, not on that day and maybe not ever (Northrop 1). The mood created by Northrop in Trapped is displayed to the readers as negative vibe. Being trapped at a school in a blizzard is obviously not a good thing. So, as a visual representation to the teenagers situation, the snow is described negatively too. In the book Trapped, Michael Northrop uses the snow to symbolize dreadful times and loneliness. Throughout the text, Michael mentions the snow. Considering the book s about a blizzard, that d be normal, right? However, in my view, the snow symbolizes something, like dreadful times. Scattered around, the context surrounding the snow can be interpreted as how you feel during those times. For example, later in the book, when the students realize just how bad it is, they explain it as, There was no higher ground, no place left for us to go (Northrop 158). Here, a relation to people feeling as if there s nowhere else to go, so they re trapped in the horrible event occurring can be made. Results tend to be mourning over those poor times in people s lives. Similarly, Michael connects that to how we view bad situations. From the start of the group presentation process, I found myself being an emergent leader. With a lack of communication when our group first got together, I felt we were in need of leadership because it seemed nobody else was going to do anything such as getting each others numbers or creating a group name, so I decided to take charge the best I could. Betrayal Trauma Theory Paper According to the BTT (Betrayal Trauma Theory), a sexual or domestic abuse victim can exhibit a deeper trauma if the betrayal originates from a person the victim shared a close relationship with. This comes to show deception from a close individual will have a greater impact than hate from a foe. There are multiple components that come into play when explaining the reasons why an injustice from a friend can cause such distress. There are two reasons that tend to stand out the most, which could possibly be the most influential. First of all, a friend has gained trust from the victim and can thus be perceived as a trustworthy person. The victim knows what is expected of their enemy, what they should be prepared for mentally and physically. The unforeseen events are justification for the ample internal damage from a betrayal compared to the resentment from an antagonist. A few of them include UL (Underwriters Laboratories), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association), SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), UN (United Nations), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards or Japanese Standards Association), GB (Guo Biao or National Standard for the People s Republic of China), US DOT FMVSS ( Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Regulations), and BATSO (Battery Safety Organization). These organizations set the standards to help minimize safety risks which include but are not limited to fire, explosion, and shock. These standards are in place to try and assess the safety risk associated with these new technologies and to help engineer them to be safer. This research paper will focus on the UN ECE 100 standards, FMVSS 305, and UN 38.3. • 46. Non Healing Research Paper Non healing wounds, also known as chronic wounds, are defined as wounds that do not show improvement in healing within four weeks. Chronic wounds affect millions of people around the world and health care expenses in the United States can cost more than one billion dollars. Chronic wound healing is a complicated process with different pathologies depending on the patients condition. Four highly integrated and overlapping phases compose the wound healing process: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and tissue remodeling. Occurrence of chronic wounds is usually due to unsuccessful progression through the normal stages of healing, and frequently enters a state of pathologic inflammation. • 47. United States Postal Service UNIT 1 INDIVIDUAL PROJECT MGT 485 0903B 03 GLOBAL STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT ALFRED SIU AUGUST 30, 2009 BY: TINA RAULERSON The most concerning threat USPS faces is the rise in operating expenses, particularly the increase in energy prices and health insurance premiums. Energy prices are at all time highs. With USPS dependency in both, air and ground transportation, energy prices will play a major role in the company s budget. USPS is part of the Federal Employee Health Benefit program and premiums for these benefits have steadily increased over the last couple of years. For example, premiums increased in 2003 by 11.1%. Health benefit payments increased 14% in 2003 from 2002, and by 15.8% in 2004 from 2003 levels. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Long Term Action Plan USPS should gradually replace their aging delivery vehicles with hybrid or electric vehicles to reduce delivery costs and dependency on gas. A hybrid vehicle not only saves the Postal Service 32 40% on fuel costs (roughly $1200/car/year based on 30k miles), depending on the vehicle, but USPS would also receive a $3,000 tax incentive on every vehicle. In cities, electric vehicles or SMART cars could be used since delivery routes are shorter with frequent stops. Aside from being fuel efficient, they adhere to the ever stricter emissions rules. With well over 200,000 postal vehicles currently in the system, savings would approach the $1billion mark. Since USPS has monopoly in Standard Mail, prices in this sector should be raised while prices in the package delivery sector should be lowered, albeit marginally, in order to attract higher market share. A raise in first class postage of a little over 8% to $.40 is presently being reviewed. Higher revenues would result from the newly raised prices in the monopolized Standard Mail market, while higher volume sales from the package delivery segment would boost revenues. USPS should first appeal to the US government to leave the Federal Employee Health Benefit program. Then, USPS should research other health plans that are more cost efficient, whether it be a new carrier in the private sector, a change in benefits coverage or alter the level of an employees contribution to ... • 48. The Era Of George Washington In today s military we think of tactics and strategy in quite a different manner than in the time of Washington. During his time strategy and tactics were not known by the name in fact the term did not even exist, but they were know by thoughts, processes, and rules that were passed down through generations in which leadership waged war. Until the nineteenth century, war was the sport of kings, and strategy the rules of the game. (Palmer, 2012, p.3) As we look into the era of George Washington we can see three general aspects of warfare that were used. The first being tactics which we can describe as being the theory of the use of military forces in combat (Palmer, 2012, p. 6) or generally speaking how we fight our enemy. This how we fight aspect goes into the basic make up and use of forces, such as we are going to use our light infantry to suppress the forward progress of our enemy while our cavalry uses there speed advantage to flank around the enemy and begin an aggressive assault. Another war aspect we see in this time period is strategy. Strategy is very similar to tactics but it instead looks more into where and whether we should fight to gain a victory (Palmer, 2012, p. 6 7). The aspect of strategy also looks into numbers, in which we can say we are going up against a force that is estimated to be in the range of seven thousand militia and two thousand cavalry units, because of this we should attack them further back into the wood line where we have the greater ... • 50. Speechnow. Org V. Federal Election Commission Case Study In a court case in 2010, Speechnow.org v. Federal Election Commission, the ability to spend virtually limitless money on an election was given under first amendment protection. With this ruling, Political Action Committees, or super PACs, have become tremendously influential when it comes to elections. Unlike regular PACs, these super PACs cannot directly donate any raised money directly to this political candidate. While these parties can not directly donate this raised money, and must be independent of the candidate they support or oppose, there is a huge debate of the unclear line involved with who can be a part of these super PACs. For example, Obama had his Republican challenger and former aides of his office supporting his super PAC. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Candidates such as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are surrounded by money. This will allow for easy unlimited funding from the citizens who agree with their views and will benefit from them winning. Presidents would obviously reward these organizations once elected in one way or another. This will allow wealthy individuals to make a much more significant impact on elections. While old PACs had a cap on how much could be donated by individuals, while prohibiting organizations and companies from donating, these new isolates super PACs can receive unlimited donations. A major company may decide to spend a few million dollars to support a specific candidate if it could return profit on the investment from taxation policies the winning candidate puts in place. This puts a large importance on money in the election, and less on debates and views. This is shown in the current election, with two of the candidates being some of the biggest financial influencers in the United States. Donald Trump is one of the faces of the business world and has huge influences in the business world. Hillary Clinton was a former first lady and has many large backings.
