Informative Essay Courage
Informative Essay: Courage What feeling emerges in our hearts when we hear the word Courage ?
Profound respect, fear, regards or may be...nothing. This word has a long history and its starting point
is from the Latin word coraticum. The root cor signifies heart . Recently, after the world entered
English through French it was finished with an English suffix age, which denotes action or the
consequence of action. So actually it signifies an action that originates from a heart, or strictly
speaking it is a respectable action. The topic of this essay is the explanation of the contemporary
definition of courage . In what sense is this word utilized by contemporary individuals? The primary
explanation of the use of this term is to portray individuals who have a quality of thinking that permits
them to face risk without apprehension, which is likewise alluded to as fearlessness or daring. The
definitions of this word are various; however since the world around us changes, the definitions
change as well. For example, if I discuss the autonomy of word I can define courage as the individual
s strength to express what he thinks on this case . In this essay, I am going to tell that how society or
the dictionary defines the word courage and then I will explore my new and intriguing definition of
courage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That implies that the definition is distinctive relying upon the culture s area and its person s beliefs.
The definition for courage, as characterized by Daniel Webster seems to be that quality of mind or
spirit enabling one to meet danger or difficulties/ opposition with firmness/fearlessness. The words
that make courage a related term are risk and resistance. Also, the dictionary definition of courage is
the mental energy to overcome fear and confront threat or resistance or other unfriendly perimeter,
either in the physical, or in the ethical

Violence And Death In Romeo And Juliet
Is Romeo and Juliet a Shakesperian play full of love at first sight or just rash and consequential
decisions? In this play we meet two star crossed lovers who meet at a party on one night and then,
almost instataneously, plegde themselves for each other and plan to marry, which then leads to six
people dying including themselves. Romeo and Juliet should have taken it slow with their affairs in
order to eliminate the violence and death that ensued from them falling in love, encourage a healthier
road to peace in order to unite both families, and to better encourage a more joyful relationship, as
mentioned by Friar Lurence. Juliet and Romeo s love at first sight isn t as sweet as it first seems, as it
leads into their own and three other character s,Tybalt, Paris, Lady Montague and Mercutio, deaths. O
Romeo, Romeo, brave Mercutio s dead!...This shall determine that .They fight; TYBALT falls (I,i,78
93). Mercutio is slain by Tybalt, which is then slain by Romeo. If Romeo had not been married to
Juliet things might have turned out differently for both characters. If Romeo had been less haste, the
chances of this brawl of ever ocurring in the first place would have been much lower, thus saving the
lives of two very important characters of this play. Both families have been at ... Show more content

When these two characters fall in love, they rush themselves to marry without consulting their parents
directly or taking in the fact that their families are at war , which they should have since this
eventually leads to several deaths, including theirs. These two lovers are a prime example of how you
cant live your life being completely irrational and spontaneous, but instead everything, including love,
should be taken with moderation, or else the consequenses might not be ideal as we see in the best

A Brief Note On Colorectal Cancer And Cancer
Colorectal cancer is one of the global leading diseases and it is the third most common causes of death
in both men and women in America. Approximately 1 in 12 Australians will develop colorectal cancer
in their lifetime, and according to Bowel Cancer Australia, individuals are at risk if they are aged 50
years and over, have had an inflammatory colorectal disease or significant family history of colorectal
cancer polyps.
Although there are various treatments for colorectal cancer, complications may arise. Post infection
caused by surgical damage to the mucosa of the intestine may occur. Furthermore, a previous study
indicated that although some chemotherapy regiment, such as FOLFOXIRI, can produce maximal
response in decreasing tumour size at high dosage, it can also produce side effects such as neutropenia
and diarrhoea because of the high toxicity level associated with the dosage of the drugs. As a result, it
has become a necessity for researchers to trial new methods, such as combining drug regimen with
surgery, to improve clinical outcomes from treatments in patients with colorectal cancer.
It has been raised in the media that gut microbiota in individuals can provide an indication of the
development of colorectal cancer. Hence, using it as a screening method can allow early interventions
to prevent colorectal carcinoma. Although the media mentions using gut microbiota analysis as a
preventative screening method, it raises the question: What roles can gut bacteria

Examples Of Negligence In Sports
Upon being injured in his first rugby game, Jim Smith decided to sue his university for negligence. He
believed that the school did not provide him with proper medical attention upon suffering a
concussion during his game. Negligence can be defined as failing to do something that a reasonable,
prudent, and up to date person would have done under the same/similar conditions or doing something
that a reasonable, prudent and up to date person would not have done (Dougherty, Goldberger,
Carpenter, 2007, p. 187). Despite these acts being unintentional, one can seek compensation from the
courts under tort law. For a tort lawsuit to be successful, it must have all four elements of negligence:
duty, breach of duty, proximate cause, and loss. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Waivers are legally binding contracts which states that the coach or whoever else is in charge is not
liable for any injuries. These hold up as defense in court, unless it is applied to gross negligence. Jim s
case files under gross negligence since the school made a conscious and voluntary disregard of the
need to use reasonable care, which is likely to cause foreseeable grave injury or harm to persons, (
gross negligence, 2008). The University made the conscious decision to not make sure that there was
medical assistance at the rugby game, knowing that some type of injury was bound to occur. Despite
the school committing gross negligence, the school still has the defense of assumption of risk. It
means that an individual recognizes that an activity comes with certain inherent risks. Inherent risks
are risks that cannot be eliminated without fundamentally altering the very nature of the activity
(Dougherty et al., 2007, p. 190). Rugby by nature is a violent contact sport, where the players have
almost no padding to protect them. The only way to remove some of the risk of it would change the
sport entirely. Given that Jim voluntarily decided to participate, was aware of the nature of the sport
what risks went along with it, and that his injury possibly could have come from the inherent risk not
the negligence, the

The Immortality Of Hela Cells

The Immortality of HeLa Cells God created everything good and men s efforts towards creativity by
using technology makes it better. Tissue culture is the technique that involves removal of cells, tissues
or organs from the animal or plant and their subsequent placement in to an artificial environment
suitable for their growth, which mimic the in vivo environment from which it derived. In culture,
cancer cells can grow indefinitely, if they have continuous supply of nutrients and environmental
conditions and thus it called immortal , and cells from this tissue called cell line (Skloot,5). One of the
important things that revolutionize the medical field was HeLa cell line derived from cervical cancer
cells of Henrietta Lacks a black African American woman died at 12:15 a.m. on October 4,
1951(Skloot,86). Dr. Wharton had shaved a dime sized tissue from her cervical tumor and that tissue
was given to the Dr. George Gey who was the head of tissue culture research at Johns Hopkins
Hospital (Skloot,33). George was a first person who developed the technique to grow HeLa cells form
cervical tissue of Henrietta Lacks in his lab and given the name HeLa after the first two initials of
Henrietta s first and last names (Skloot,37).
In order to determine function of cells and to evaluate certain theory concerning the cause and
treatments of disease, cell line needed for that must have immortal property means able to grow
indefinitely. However, the normal

Deforestation And Global Climate Change
Human development relies on deforestation as a method to reclaim land, to cultivate more farmlands,
to sell forest products and to increase economic prosperity, but with serious consequences of
environmental degradation and global climate change. The country of Nepal has an alarming rate of
deforestation. Due to its geographical positioning, it is in a prime position to sequester a significant
amount of carbon from our atmosphere with its forests. However, like much of South Asia, Nepal has
lost much of the forest that was once widespread and only 30% of the forest that covered Nepal still
remains (Niraula et al. 2013).
Although there are varying definitions of deforestation, this report follows the authority of the UN
Food and Agriculture (FAO) defines deforestation as forest loss where tree cover is reduced to less
than 10% of the previously forested area (CITE)
Conceptual Framework
This report seeks to define the causes of deforestation in Nepal based on the works of Geist and
Lambin (2002), who developed a framework for understanding deforestation as resulting from broad
and complex underlying causes which in turn enable or encourage the agents of deforestation who
embody the direct, or proximate causes. Proximate causes of deforestation are dominantly results of
human action, and can be understood as being comprised of three main categories, namely agricultural
expansion, wood extraction and infrastructure extension. The factors underlying these can be divided

Three Cups Of Tea Analysis
Three Cups of Tea
Mian Muhammad Mansha a Pakistani entrepreneur once said Terrorism is partly linked to people who
have no jobs in Pakistan. Rural regions with a dearth amount of education are later on coerced into the
Taliban, because of the lack of jobs available for the extent of education the population has. Three
Cups of Tea, co written by Dr. Greg Mortenson and David Relin shows Mortenson s personal journeys
with building schools in Pakistan, which prevented young Pakistani males from joining the terrorist
groups. The author writes in elements that makes society aware of the harsh conditions Pakistani
children go through, to go to school. He uses credibility, factual, and emotionally arousing elements to
make the audience sympathize for the kids that are in poverty.

Mortenson himself in the Pakistani village was appalled to see eighty two children, seventy eight boys
and four girls...kneeling on the frozen ground, out in the open (31). The author shows the amount of
children in one village that wants an education, to be willing to stand in harsh environment just to get
an education. In addition, shows how severe the lack of school buildings and appropriate educators is
for those poverty struck children. Determined, he came to a wealthy former mountain climber
comparable to himself to ask for a donation for any contribution of the twelve thousand dollars...it
would take [him] to complete the school (55). The cost to build the school could be compared to a slap
in the face to him when he calculated the expense to solve the problem. The fact that it costs twelve
thousand dollars to decrease the amount of power the Taliban from influencing young males made him
get more funding. Mortenson establishes his credibility, so he used facts, to justify the logic for

Grendel Analysis
The ability to live alone is a power very few people possess. Grendel, by John Gardner, is a novel
based on the epic poem, Beowulf and narrated by Grendel, a grotesque monster who lives with his
mute mother in a desolate cave. He is in a 12 year war King Hrothgar and his people. Constantly
seeking and yet avoiding the human population, Grendel observes the Scyldings as their civilization
progresses with increasing curiosity. Grendel spends his days isolated from society, searching for a
purpose to his life in what to him seems like a meaningless universe. On his journey he encounters a
clairvoyant dragon who mentors him on the nature of the universe, and sees the rise and fall of
different empires. Seeing humanities cruelty and senseless violence frustrates him. His hatred
ultimately leads to his downfall as he meets Beowulf and is killed. In the novel Grendel, by John
Gardner, Grendel is portrayed as a lonely and miserable creature who craves companionship and
ponders deep questions about the universe. This is observed by Grendel s conversation with the
dragon and his inner thoughts about the living world around him. The Danes paranoia of Grendel
isolates him from society. He lives in solitude with his mother who he cannot connect with on
anymore than a physical level. As the novel progresses, Grendel becomes attached to humanity and
the Shaper in particular. The Shaper is an inspiring musician who sings imaginatively of a perfect
world. Grendel realizes that what the

Nasi Lemak Make you Fat?
A packet of my breakfast last week
Do you really think eating Nasi Lemak will make you fat? Is it because of its high coconut oil/ santan

other oil. Here is one of the Health Benefit of Coconut Oil you can read on.
I really want to know if there are some other reasons why Nasi Lemak is said to make us Malaysian
fat or obese. I would support the idea of controlling the sales of those processed food, like nuggets,
fried fries, fried mashed potatoes cakes, oily noodles, and sausages in the school canteen.

In Dubious Battle The book immediately introduces the reader to a man named Jim, who leaves the
life of a normal American and joins himself to a secret group that is attempting to organize laborers, to
stand against influential land owners. Jim has observed his father, struggling against the powerful and
witnessed his death in this struggle. He himself was thrown in jail for thirty days after being wrongly

For data gathering, a communication study was used in the form of a survey. Ex post facto extent of
control was used since Penton Media can t change the results and have to report the results they
receive. The purpose was chosen as a reporting study as they are compiling data and providing a
summary of the survey results. This study s time frame is cross sectional with a survey being sent out
once for the formal results. The topical scope is statistical because it wants to compare characteristics
and draw conclusions. Field conditions were used in this study because there is no change in the
surveyor s environment. Finally, the participant s perceptions are not changed and they are aware of
the research being conducted. Strengths The strength of this study is in the ex post facto design where
Penton Media has to report from the survey results. There is no way that Penton Media can change or
modify the results so this makes the research more reliable and dependable. Another strength is that
the participant s environment and perceptions aren t changed or affected. This makes for more honest
and trustworthy results. Weaknesses A communication study is great for the research question that
Penton Media is trying to answer. However, they could also get more data from their advertisers.

12 Angry Men Justice
12 Angry Men is a movie about 12 jurors determining a man s innocence and guilt. A boy is accused
of stabbing his father to death and if found guilty will be sentenced to death. The movie presents a
diverse group of 12 jurors with diverse traits. The movie illustrates the advantages and disadvantages
of verdict making, group progressive phases, headship qualities and models, social influence strategies
and endings, and the foundations of social supremacy.
All through the production, we see two conflicting outlooks of fairness. From 8th Juror and others, as
they link, we see an angle of justice that favors the defendant and that desires most for him to have a
fair minded chance. To 8th Juror, the teenager s poor and uneasy background, his careless state
appointed defense counsel, and the jury s fast near decisive verdict to find him guilty are all
uncivilized forms of unfairness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6th Juror says this most clearly, saying, Suppose you talk us outta this and the kid really did knife his
father? This style of justice rest on revenge and reprisal. Rose shows off the mutual nature of justice to
construct tautness and compare the characters. Each character wishes for justice, but what justice
comes to be imprecise and unsolidified during the development of the movie.
Prejudgment is witnessed on numerous levels during the course of the movie. In the most recognizable
sense, the movie deals with cultural bias. While, evidently, the race of the accused is never sure, we do
realize that he is a minority of some class and this hastily converts in to a intense dispute between the
jurors, especially for the 9th Juror who mentions to the defendant as one of

The Theme Of Good And Evil In Hamlet By William Shakespeare
INTORDUCTION The theme of good versus evil is one of the most common themes in world
literature. Within this theme, an author can incorporate three common concepts within a story. The
author creates characters who are the tempter (usually the antagonist) and the tempted (usually the
protagonist.) The characters within the plays can also demonstrate virtuous and unvirtuous traits. The
author may also include symbolism to contrast the forces of good and evil; one such example being
the contrast between dark and light. Even the popular playwright William Shakespeare incorporated
these concepts into three great tragedies. The Tragedy of Hamlet: Prince of Denmark, The Tragedy of
Macbeth, and The Tragedy of Othello: The Moor of Venice. These themes appear in the modern film
adaptations of directors Gregory Doran (Hamlet 2009), Roman Polanski (Macbeth 1971), and Oliver
Parker (Othello 1995.)
THE TEMPTERS AND THE TEMPTED There is no battle between good and evil unless there is
someone or something tempting someone. According to Philip Babcock Gove, editor of Webster s
Third New International Dictionary of the English Language, temptation is the act of tempting or the
state of being tempted to do evil (Gove). In Othello, Macbeth, and Hamlet, Shakespeare provides three
predominant pairs of tempters and tempted. In Othello, Iago serves as the tempter while Othello is the
tempted. In Macbeth, the Witches are the tempters while Macbeth is the tempted. Finally, in Hamlet,

The Reign Of The Imperial System
Puyi was born in 1906 and crowned emperor in 1908. During that time, China had always been under
the imperial system, where one dynasty was ruled by one family, essentially through the idea of
heredity monarchy. Puyi, who had been proclaimed the son of heaven, followed tradition; however,
his time in being emperor was short lived as the Qing dynasty ended in 1912, introducing the Republic
of China. Oblivious to life outside the temple doors, Puyi continuously assured himself that he was
still in charge; it wasn t until in 1924, when Puyi was captured by warlords and forced to leave the
Forbidden City. In 1931, Japan invaded northeast China, and the officers surrendered to Japan. The
Japanese asked for assistance in establishing the Manchukuo, which was granted. In 1934, Puyi was
crowned to be a puppet emperor of Manchukuo under the control of Japan; nevertheless, in 1945,
Russia defeated Japan in northeast China. Puyi abdicated his thrown, was captured by the Russian
army, and arrested for betrayal.
Puyi is important because he was the last emperor that marked the complete end to China s long
timeline of dynasties. Through his experience, he had witnessed and held gargantuan amount of power
over so many people, just for that power to be stripped from him. Though Puyi didn t like it, he
basically was integrated into a modernized society, where even he could be punished under the law.
Ultimately, Puyi plays a role in modern Chinese society, as it is a learning

Organizational Structure Of A Corporation
Appex Corporation
When Ghosh joined Appex, he walked into a company full of chaos with no definable structure. The
rapidly growing company was ill equipped to manage its growth at the rate it was expanding. There
were no formal policies or structures in place to manage this exponential growth. As the number of
products increased the lack of structure became more pronounced. The work became mostly crisis
management, leading to a decline in customer focus and production. Additionally, finances were not
managed with any planning or structure causing Appex to lose money rapidly. Ghosh, eager to test his
skills, attempted several organizational structures to stabilize Appex.
Circular Structure
Circular structure is a nonhierarchical organization structure with the senior executives in the center.
The circle centers on the executives, followed by the managers, then employees, and then the
customers. Ghosh used this system as an attempt to create a continuous flow of information through
the organization. One problem identified was that current employees could not relate and new hires
did not understand. New hires looked for a hierarchical structure to understand the flow of power for
decisions and their performance evaluation but were unable to identify such within this organizational
structure. Additionally, this structure did not formalize any type of business planning.

it was a consensus view or media coverage contributed to a spiral of silence that dampened opposition
to the war. Based on the survey that asked for individuals opinions, the respondents were clearly less
supportive of the war as compared to the popular support portrayed by the media. Respondents who
watched television and believed that the public supported the war were very likely to support the war
too. Hence, this study supports the spiral of silence and suggests that the bandwagon effects influence
people ( Spiral of Silence ). 2. Agenda Setting a. Agenda Setting is where the mass media warrants
attention to particular issues. They are continuously presenting matters suggesting and influencing
what public agenda that persons in the mass should ponder about, find out about, and have opinions
about (Protess, McCombs 18). b. In many situations, not only the mass media, agenda setting occurs,
where individuals who control the situation warrants attention to particular issues. The agenda for the
court case in the movie was whether or not to convict Carl Lee Hayley of murder. Attorneys Brigance

while Buckley s was the prove Carl Lee guilty of murder. Voters / jury are most disposed to an agenda

Sainsbury Case Study
With more than one and a half century of history and serving the customers in the United Kingdom
with its supermarkets services, Sainsbury has come a long way in establishing a robust market. Hence,
it is a trustable brand recognized all over the world (Cityam, 2014). When Tesco had surpassed
Sainsbury in the race, it was the costs linked to IT services and supply chain which came under
scrutiny and among other expenditures, efforts were stepped up for truncating these costs also termed
as major operational costs . If one goes by the reasoning given Martin Atherton, who is an in the lead

Fan Communities Use Online Discussion Boards
Fan communities use online discussion boards to communicate with one another over the quality and
meaning of what is presented in the media. Captain America conversations stay around the Captain
America and Marvel subreddits, however their users vary; people come out as professors, marines,
artists, etc. This section will examine several pieces of fan testimony explaining their interpretation of
his character, as well as their responses to how his current media portrays him.

Cap knows it s our job to oppose anyone who seeks to hurt the innocent and oppress the weak, be it

Once again, the fans look at Captain America not as someone who works for the United States
government, but represents the people. While both can be reaching for the same goal, at the end of the
day, Cap will do what he must to protect and serve the American people, and fights for the American
Dream. For the people who do not follow Captain America in the comics, they have the films to rely
on to understand his story. Some fans only watch the movies for entertainment, while others look
beyond the action for a deeper meaning. Disputing the many fans who do not consider The Winter

both the Captain America movies:
Civil War is, at its heart, a deeply political movie. The philosophical question of where morality and
ethics needs to be decided, who should hold that power, was asked, debated, and resoundingly

Winter Soldier looked at how America s government has been hijacked since Rogers was put to sleep.

The Importance Of Parent Involvement In Student Education
In this paper, the writer explains the importance of parent or guardian involvement in a students
education. Parent/guardian involvement plays a tole on many different aspects in the classroom
including: overall academic achievement, behavior, and student motivation. Parent/guardian
involvement can range from being part of the school board to simply spending time reading with your
child every night. Research shows that both grades and behaviors are improved due to parent/guardian
involvement.
Introduction Parent involvement in a student s education can have one of the biggest impacts on a
child s life. Parent involvement goes far beyond grade school, and far beyond adolescent years. The
effect that parent involvement has on a child s academics can shape them into a different person.
Children are constantly watching and evaluating their elders. Many times students look to their parents
to find the value in things. When students see their parents or guardians valuing their child s
education, students will also begin to value it themselves. This comes through motivation. When
parents are interested in their child s education and are involved students will gain so much. The
Department of Education of West Virginia states that research shows that when families take an active
interest in their children s schoolwork, students display more positive attitudes, behave better, and
learn more (Robinson, Harris, 2014). Something as simple as reading with a child every night or
taking weekend trips to places like museums and involving them in other intellectual activities will
engage students in learning and motivate them to want to learn.
Effects on Classroom Behavior One of the most found benefits of parent/guardian involvement is
behavior. Behavior problems form based on many different aspects. One of these being students
struggling in a subject. When students struggle they often act out during these times of instruction.
Reading with your child and helping your child with homework may give them the support they need
to feel confident in class. It is stated that, The most commonly cited benefit of parent involvement is
that is can be used to accelerate learning by increasing the amount

Lord Of The Flies By William Shakespeare
Perhaps one of the most famous betrayals in history was that of Julius Caesar by his friend Marcus
Brutus. Upon realizing his friend s part in his death, a shocked Caesar asks, Et tu, Brute? [You too,
Brutus?] and falls to his death. (Et tu, Brute?) The allegorical story Lord of The Flies consists of many
situations where the conflicts and betrayals between Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin are represented
through two boys on the island, Jack and Ralph. In the beginning of the story, Jack and Ralph work
together and have generally peaceful relations. However, as time goes on, tension on the island
increases, eventually resulting in the boys becoming leaders of two separate tribes. Finally, Jack
violates the previously agreed upon peace ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boys are forced to survive on a deserted island with no adults. Initially, the boys get along well.
Jack and Ralph are two of the older boys, both headstrong in two separate ways. Ralph has a desire to
keep order on the island whilst Jack is hungry for power. Ralph is quickly realized as the best fit for a
leader and elected chief, but makes sure to give Jack an important role as well after noticing his
jealousy. Ralph says of Jack, Jack s in charge of the choir. They can be what do you want them to be?
Jack responds with Hunters, and Jack and Ralph smiled at each other with a shy liking (Golding 23).
Ralph gives Jack this job more so to avoid conflict than to have any type of second in command on the
island. This is largely a political move, just as the Nazi Soviet Non Aggression Pact was. In the eyes of
Stalin, who is compared to Ralph, the pact to keep peace largely benefited him. Stalin was given time
to build up the Soviet military while keeping his nation on peaceful terms with Germany (German
Soviet Nonaggression Pact), and Jack was given a job by Ralph to avoid conflict. The alliance
between Hitler and Stalin helped the both of them out immensely; it even contained a secret
agreement in which the Soviets and Germans agreed how they would later divide up Eastern Europe
(German Soviet Nonaggression Pact). The original meetings of both Hitler

Crooks X-Ray History
The science behind the x ray goes back to a chemist called Sir William Crooks. He was born June 17th
1832 in England. Crooks developed the Crooks Tube in 1870. This was an important invention for
scientists to come, among them was Wilhelm Roentgen who in 1895 was credited with the discovery
the x ray. Back when the x ray technique was new, people didn t realize the damage radiation could
cause. This changed soon when it was discovered how people were severely injured from the
exposure, as they were not wearing any protective shield. In the beginning the doctors or physicists
worked and operated the x ray machines themselves, but as the demand grew, the need for actual x ray
machine operators were needed. The Crooks tube, the discovery of the ... Show more content on

One of the reasons could be the amount of time it took for an injury to occur after exposure. However,
more and more frequent cases describing skin irritation associated with a bad sunburn started to occur.
One scientist by the name of Elihu Thoms decided to expose his little finger under radiation 30
minutes a day, for several days. The results were pain, swelling, erythema and blistering. This
convinced him, and others the dangers of radiation, and by 1900 the majority of the medical and the
scientific community, were familiar of the dangers of over exposure. The decrease of exposure time
and incidence was the most evident ways to limit the amount of radiation, or dose, to a patient. They
were even experimenting with enclosed tubes and distances to protect themselves from the exposure.
Filtration to the x ray beam was actually encouraged before the 1900 s and so was the size of the
beam. Some other methods used to minimize patient exposure was using intensifying screens and
higher x ray generating voltages. Even though ex ray protection was well known by 1905, it would
still take many years for it to be universal. Even as late as the 1940 s it was not uncommon to find x
ray units without any safety measures at all. There are three distinctive periods of radiation protection.
The evolution of x ray protection is split into three

Sophocles wrote a tragic play, Oedipus the King, in which the protagonist, Oedipus, discovers his fate.
Thebes, the area currently ruled by Oedipus, has fallen under a plague so Creon, Oedipus brother in
law, is sent to ask Apollo, a messenger for the Gods, for advice on how to save Thebes. Oedipus
discovers that to bring Thebes out of the plague he needs to find and persecute the murderer of Laius,
the former king of Thebes. Oedipus searches high and low for anyone who might have information
and finds a blind prophet, Tiresias, who claims Oedipus killed Laius. However, Oedipus believes this
cannot be true because Jocasta, Laius s former wife and now Oedipus wife, was prophesied to have a

rescue everything infected by the dead. We are in your hands (351 357). Oedipus is using guilt and
begging to try to get help from the blind prophet, he is trying so hard because he doesn t know the
eventual consequences of his action. Another tactic Oedipus uses to convince people to give him

Compare Relationships Between Romeo and Juliet and Between...

In the plays Romeo and Juliet and Othello by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare uses the concept of a

Backtracking almost over a century, we now have Ludwig van Beethoven and his magnum opus, Für
Elise. In 1810, when Beethoven was 40 years of age and right now broadly known as one of the best
authors ever, he made For Elise. It is still speculated as to whom this piece was made in honor out of,
yet in any case it doesn t melt away on the current level of sythesis. Written in A minor for solo piano,
Für Elise is named a bagatelle. These are short bits of music, commonly for the piano, and typically
light and smooth in character. In prior periods, the bagatelle had likewise been composed for an
assortment of instrument arrangements, yet by and large they are heard as solo piano exhibitions. In
reality, the score was not distributed until 1867, 40 years after the passing of the writer. It is presently

The Interpretive Approach For Communication
The Interpretive Approach to Communication In communication, there are three different approaches:
social science, interpretive, and critical. All three approaches differ greatly in their paradigms, or
belief systems, on how the study of communication should be approached. Of the three approaches,
the Interpretive Approach is the one that suits me the best. Why you might ask? Simply put, it just
makes sense. The interpretive Approach, also referred to as the Humanistic Approach, is looking at
communication through a system of thoughts that celebrate human nature and it s potential. Simply
put, this approach looks specifically at human nature as it pertains to a specific person, or specific
group, as a whole rather than the general consensus. As with the other methods, the Interpretive
Approach has it s own assumptions, theories and methods, ethical issues, and strengths and
limitations. When studying communication, there are certain assumptions to be made. These
assumptions vary depending on the paradigm that the researcher is following. In the Interpretive
Approach, the major assumption is that humans construct their own reality, and researchers must tap
into and understand that reality. This could not be truer, as everyone has their own perception of the
world around them and reality in general. It is also assumed that the focus will be on the
communicator. The Interpretive Approach draws focus on the creativity of humans rather than our
predictability. Following the

Delight In Disorder By Ben Herrick Summary
The poems Delight in Disorder by Robert Herrick and Still to be Neat by Ben Johnson display similar
themes. Both poems are written about natural beauty, Delight in Disorder , focuses more on the
careless beauty while Still to be Neat focuses on the simplicity of natural beauty. Although these two
poems are extremely similar because of their themes they are also different. Both authors aim to
unveil the true meaning of beauty through being natural and having a balance between disorder and
order in one s appearance. In Delight in disorder , Herrick describes a woman that is dressed without
extreme care and her detail is more enticing and captivating than a woman who has put all their energy
and effort into dressing up. Herrick writes in lines 11 14, A careless shoestring, in whose tie I see a
wild civility; Do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in every part (766), in these lines he is
describing the elegance of the woman s imperfections. Herrick is emphasizing in his poem that if a
woman takes extreme care in her appearance it can make her seem rigid and uptight. Herrick believes
that a woman whose appearance is disorganized comes across as easy going, and more approachable.
Ben Johnson s, Still to be Neat , the woman is described in line 9 as neatly dressed from her hair to her
makeup along with her loosely flowing clothes (767). Johnson is describing that he prefers and natural
beauty rather than the artificial beauty described in the poem. The

Essay on The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V
The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V
To turn Henry V into a play glorifying war or a play condemning war would be to presume
Shakespeare s intentions too much. He does both of these and more in his recount of the historical
battle of Agincourt. Although Shakespeare devotes the play to the events leading to war, he
simultaneously gives us insight into the political and private life of a king. It is this unity of two
distinct areas that has turned the play into a critical no man s land, acrimoniously contested and
periodically disfigured by opposing barrages of intellectual artillery (Taylor 1). One may believe that
Henry is the epitome of kingly glory, a disgrace of royalty, or think that Shakespeare himself disliked
Henry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approaching the play through mere historical reconstruction limits the potential for insight into
society and threatens to create a stagnant historical account. Although the situation to which the play
refers no longer exists, a connection can be made between spectator and stage. The Chorus facilitates
this connection. Shakespeare obviously intended that the Chorus help the audience visualize the
proceedings of history. The Chorus has a dynamic role in inviting each audience member on a journey
through time. They have to assemble for themselves the model ruler of Henry, in accordance with the
instructions given, for it would be falsification of history to pretend that [the play] could contain a
clear cut and unambiguous ideal (Iser 186). The Chorus provides a sense of individual responsibility
in creating an image; a product of the imagination and not a fact of history. The Chorus bridges the
gap between the past and the present. The spectator is encouraged to walk on an illusionary plain with
Henry and share in his experiences.
The communication by the actors is emphasized in this production, as there will be little in terms of
stage decor. The Chorus is a dictionary, so to speak, for this new method of a raw and pure rendition
of Henry V. It is explicit about how much stage and actors will do, how much the audience must do for
itself (Beauman 6).

Craig Crow Monologue
It all started the day I died. I think I should formally introduce myself, My name was Craig Crow and
I lived in Alabama on a corn farm with my wife and two beautiful twin sons. We lived in a house with
3 bedrooms and a very small crawl space in the attic. The barn was old with bright red paint and big
white sliding doors, we owned 2 horses, one for me and one for my son. The only way for us to get
into town was a small green beaten up pickup truck that had been passed down for generations. The
house had been passed down just like the truck had been and my whole family is buried here,
including my wife and I.
Before I say how I died, I ll tell you how it first started. One day I was in the barn with my two
children, Leo and Larry. Leo was my favorite son. He was very skinny and had perfect curly red hair

how ugly it was and about how if he could do anything he might have his own room. While I was
doing this he was crying like a baby, even though he was 7 and should be a man and start working out

While we ate Larry spilled food all over Leo so I made him sleep on the steps in front of the house
instead of having the privilege of sleeping in the cold drafty attic. Leo gave me kiss and went to his
room. In the middle of the night when Larry was sure everyone was sleeping He slowly tiptoed inside
to get a candle to find some biscuits. He tracked straw from his dirty feet throughout the house then he

  • 3. Violence And Death In Romeo And Juliet Is Romeo and Juliet a Shakesperian play full of love at first sight or just rash and consequential decisions? In this play we meet two star crossed lovers who meet at a party on one night and then, almost instataneously, plegde themselves for each other and plan to marry, which then leads to six people dying including themselves. Romeo and Juliet should have taken it slow with their affairs in order to eliminate the violence and death that ensued from them falling in love, encourage a healthier road to peace in order to unite both families, and to better encourage a more joyful relationship, as mentioned by Friar Lurence. Juliet and Romeo s love at first sight isn t as sweet as it first seems, as it leads into their own and three other character s,Tybalt, Paris, Lady Montague and Mercutio, deaths. O Romeo, Romeo, brave Mercutio s dead!...This shall determine that .They fight; TYBALT falls (I,i,78 93). Mercutio is slain by Tybalt, which is then slain by Romeo. If Romeo had not been married to Juliet things might have turned out differently for both characters. If Romeo had been less haste, the chances of this brawl of ever ocurring in the first place would have been much lower, thus saving the lives of two very important characters of this play. Both families have been at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. A Brief Note On Colorectal Cancer And Cancer Colorectal cancer is one of the global leading diseases and it is the third most common causes of death in both men and women in America. Approximately 1 in 12 Australians will develop colorectal cancer in their lifetime, and according to Bowel Cancer Australia, individuals are at risk if they are aged 50 years and over, have had an inflammatory colorectal disease or significant family history of colorectal cancer polyps. Although there are various treatments for colorectal cancer, complications may arise. Post infection caused by surgical damage to the mucosa of the intestine may occur. Furthermore, a previous study indicated that although some chemotherapy regiment, such as FOLFOXIRI, can produce maximal response in decreasing tumour size at high dosage, it can also produce side effects such as neutropenia and diarrhoea because of the high toxicity level associated with the dosage of the drugs. As a result, it has become a necessity for researchers to trial new methods, such as combining drug regimen with surgery, to improve clinical outcomes from treatments in patients with colorectal cancer. It has been raised in the media that gut microbiota in individuals can provide an indication of the development of colorectal cancer. Hence, using it as a screening method can allow early interventions to prevent colorectal carcinoma. • 5. Examples Of Negligence In Sports Upon being injured in his first rugby game, Jim Smith decided to sue his university for negligence. He believed that the school did not provide him with proper medical attention upon suffering a concussion during his game. Negligence can be defined as failing to do something that a reasonable, prudent, and up to date person would have done under the same/similar conditions or doing something that a reasonable, prudent and up to date person would not have done (Dougherty, Goldberger, Carpenter, 2007, p. 187). Despite these acts being unintentional, one can seek compensation from the courts under tort law. For a tort lawsuit to be successful, it must have all four elements of negligence: duty, breach of duty, proximate cause, and loss. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Waivers are legally binding contracts which states that the coach or whoever else is in charge is not liable for any injuries. These hold up as defense in court, unless it is applied to gross negligence. Jim s case files under gross negligence since the school made a conscious and voluntary disregard of the need to use reasonable care, which is likely to cause foreseeable grave injury or harm to persons, ( gross negligence, 2008). The University made the conscious decision to not make sure that there was medical assistance at the rugby game, knowing that some type of injury was bound to occur. Despite the school committing gross negligence, the school still has the defense of assumption of risk. It means that an individual recognizes that an activity comes with certain inherent risks. Inherent risks are risks that cannot be eliminated without fundamentally altering the very nature of the activity (Dougherty et al., 2007, p. 190). Rugby by nature is a violent contact sport, where the players have almost no padding to protect them. The only way to remove some of the risk of it would change the sport entirely. Given that Jim voluntarily decided to participate, was aware of the nature of the sport what risks went along with it, and that his injury possibly could have come from the inherent risk not the negligence, the ... • 6. The Immortality Of Hela Cells Vishalkumar Patel 010 388 130 The Immortality of HeLa Cells God created everything good and men s efforts towards creativity by using technology makes it better. Tissue culture is the technique that involves removal of cells, tissues or organs from the animal or plant and their subsequent placement in to an artificial environment suitable for their growth, which mimic the in vivo environment from which it derived. In culture, cancer cells can grow indefinitely, if they have continuous supply of nutrients and environmental conditions and thus it called immortal , and cells from this tissue called cell line (Skloot,5). One of the important things that revolutionize the medical field was HeLa cell line derived from cervical cancer cells of Henrietta Lacks a black African American woman died at 12:15 a.m. on October 4, 1951(Skloot,86). Deforestation And Global Climate Change Human development relies on deforestation as a method to reclaim land, to cultivate more farmlands, to sell forest products and to increase economic prosperity, but with serious consequences of environmental degradation and global climate change. The country of Nepal has an alarming rate of deforestation. Due to its geographical positioning, it is in a prime position to sequester a significant amount of carbon from our atmosphere with its forests. However, like much of South Asia, Nepal has lost much of the forest that was once widespread and only 30% of the forest that covered Nepal still remains (Niraula et al. 2013). Although there are varying definitions of deforestation, this report follows the authority of the UN Food and Agriculture (FAO) defines deforestation as forest loss where tree cover is reduced to less than 10% of the previously forested area (CITE) Conceptual Framework This report seeks to define the causes of deforestation in Nepal based on the works of Geist and Lambin (2002), who developed a framework for understanding deforestation as resulting from broad and complex underlying causes which in turn enable or encourage the agents of deforestation who embody the direct, or proximate causes. Proximate causes of deforestation are dominantly results of human action, and can be understood as being comprised of three main categories, namely agricultural expansion, wood extraction and infrastructure extension. • 17. The Theme Of Good And Evil In Hamlet By William Shakespeare INTORDUCTION The theme of good versus evil is one of the most common themes in world literature. Within this theme, an author can incorporate three common concepts within a story. The author creates characters who are the tempter (usually the antagonist) and the tempted (usually the protagonist.) The characters within the plays can also demonstrate virtuous and unvirtuous traits. The author may also include symbolism to contrast the forces of good and evil; one such example being the contrast between dark and light. Even the popular playwright William Shakespeare incorporated these concepts into three great tragedies. The Tragedy of Hamlet: Prince of Denmark, The Tragedy of Macbeth, and The Tragedy of Othello: The Moor of Venice. These themes appear in the modern film adaptations of directors Gregory Doran (Hamlet 2009), Roman Polanski (Macbeth 1971), and Oliver Parker (Othello 1995.) THE TEMPTERS AND THE TEMPTED There is no battle between good and evil unless there is someone or something tempting someone. According to Philip Babcock Gove, editor of Webster s Third New International Dictionary of the English Language, temptation is the act of tempting or the state of being tempted to do evil (Gove). In Othello, Macbeth, and Hamlet, Shakespeare provides three predominant pairs of tempters and tempted. In Othello, Iago serves as the tempter while Othello is the tempted. In Macbeth, the Witches are the tempters while Macbeth is the tempted. Finally, in Hamlet, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oblivious to life outside the temple doors, Puyi continuously assured himself that he was still in charge; it wasn t until in 1924, when Puyi was captured by warlords and forced to leave the Forbidden City. In 1931, Japan invaded northeast China, and the officers surrendered to Japan. The Japanese asked for assistance in establishing the Manchukuo, which was granted. In 1934, Puyi was crowned to be a puppet emperor of Manchukuo under the control of Japan; nevertheless, in 1945, Russia defeated Japan in northeast China. Puyi abdicated his thrown, was captured by the Russian army, and arrested for betrayal. Puyi is important because he was the last emperor that marked the complete end to China s long timeline of dynasties. • 25. The Importance Of Parent Involvement In Student Education In this paper, the writer explains the importance of parent or guardian involvement in a students education. Parent/guardian involvement plays a tole on many different aspects in the classroom including: overall academic achievement, behavior, and student motivation. Parent/guardian involvement can range from being part of the school board to simply spending time reading with your child every night. Research shows that both grades and behaviors are improved due to parent/guardian involvement. Introduction Parent involvement in a student s education can have one of the biggest impacts on a child s life. Parent involvement goes far beyond grade school, and far beyond adolescent years. The effect that parent involvement has on a child s academics can shape them into a different person. Children are constantly watching and evaluating their elders. Many times students look to their parents to find the value in things. When students see their parents or guardians valuing their child s education, students will also begin to value it themselves. This comes through motivation. When parents are interested in their child s education and are involved students will gain so much. The Department of Education of West Virginia states that research shows that when families take an active interest in their children s schoolwork, students display more positive attitudes, behave better, and learn more (Robinson, Harris, 2014). Something as simple as reading with a child every night or taking weekend trips to places like museums and involving them in other intellectual activities will engage students in learning and motivate them to want to learn. Effects on Classroom Behavior One of the most found benefits of parent/guardian involvement is behavior. Behavior problems form based on many different aspects. One of these being students struggling in a subject. When students struggle they often act out during these times of instruction. This convinced him, and others the dangers of radiation, and by 1900 the majority of the medical and the scientific community, were familiar of the dangers of over exposure. The decrease of exposure time and incidence was the most evident ways to limit the amount of radiation, or dose, to a patient. They were even experimenting with enclosed tubes and distances to protect themselves from the exposure. Filtration to the x ray beam was actually encouraged before the 1900 s and so was the size of the beam. Some other methods used to minimize patient exposure was using intensifying screens and higher x ray generating voltages. Even though ex ray protection was well known by 1905, it would still take many years for it to be universal. Even as late as the 1940 s it was not uncommon to find x ray units without any safety measures at all. There are three distinctive periods of radiation protection. The evolution of x ray protection is split into three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Oedipus Judgement Sophocles wrote a tragic play, Oedipus the King, in which the protagonist, Oedipus, discovers his fate. Thebes, the area currently ruled by Oedipus, has fallen under a plague so Creon, Oedipus brother in law, is sent to ask Apollo, a messenger for the Gods, for advice on how to save Thebes. Oedipus discovers that to bring Thebes out of the plague he needs to find and persecute the murderer of Laius, the former king of Thebes. Oedipus searches high and low for anyone who might have information and finds a blind prophet, Tiresias, who claims Oedipus killed Laius. However, Oedipus believes this cannot be true because Jocasta, Laius s former wife and now Oedipus wife, was prophesied to have a son who would kill Laius and have sex with Jocasta. ... We are in your hands (351 357). Oedipus is using guilt and begging to try to get help from the blind prophet, he is trying so hard because he doesn t know the eventual consequences of his action. Another tactic Oedipus uses to convince people to give him answers is torture which he uses on the Shepherd. Oedipus barks, So, you won t talk willingly then you ll talk with pain (1266 1267). He then goes on to order Twist his arms back quickly! (1269). After the physical torture and a threat of death, the Shepherd tells Oedipus it was Jocasta who gave him the baby. Oedipus realizes he is the murderer of Laius and goes on to claim I stand revealed at last cursed in birth, cursed in marriage, cursed in the lives I cut down with these hands! (Lines 1309 1311). • 32. The Interpretive Approach For Communication The Interpretive Approach to Communication In communication, there are three different approaches: social science, interpretive, and critical. All three approaches differ greatly in their paradigms, or belief systems, on how the study of communication should be approached. Of the three approaches, the Interpretive Approach is the one that suits me the best. Why you might ask? Simply put, it just makes sense. The interpretive Approach, also referred to as the Humanistic Approach, is looking at communication through a system of thoughts that celebrate human nature and it s potential. Simply put, this approach looks specifically at human nature as it pertains to a specific person, or specific group, as a whole rather than the general consensus. As with the other methods, the Interpretive Approach has it s own assumptions, theories and methods, ethical issues, and strengths and limitations. When studying communication, there are certain assumptions to be made. These assumptions vary depending on the paradigm that the researcher is following. In the Interpretive Approach, the major assumption is that humans construct their own reality, and researchers must tap into and understand that reality. This could not be truer, as everyone has their own perception of the world around them and reality in general. It is also assumed that the focus will be on the communicator. The Interpretive Approach draws focus on the creativity of humans rather than our predictability. Following the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Delight In Disorder By Ben Herrick Summary The poems Delight in Disorder by Robert Herrick and Still to be Neat by Ben Johnson display similar themes. Both poems are written about natural beauty, Delight in Disorder , focuses more on the careless beauty while Still to be Neat focuses on the simplicity of natural beauty. Although these two poems are extremely similar because of their themes they are also different. Both authors aim to unveil the true meaning of beauty through being natural and having a balance between disorder and order in one s appearance. In Delight in disorder , Herrick describes a woman that is dressed without extreme care and her detail is more enticing and captivating than a woman who has put all their energy and effort into dressing up. Herrick writes in lines 11 14, A careless shoestring, in whose tie I see a wild civility; Do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in every part (766), in these lines he is describing the elegance of the woman s imperfections. Herrick is emphasizing in his poem that if a woman takes extreme care in her appearance it can make her seem rigid and uptight. Herrick believes that a woman whose appearance is disorganized comes across as easy going, and more approachable. Ben Johnson s, Still to be Neat , the woman is described in line 9 as neatly dressed from her hair to her makeup along with her loosely flowing clothes (767). Johnson is describing that he prefers and natural beauty rather than the artificial beauty described in the poem. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Essay on The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V To turn Henry V into a play glorifying war or a play condemning war would be to presume Shakespeare s intentions too much. He does both of these and more in his recount of the historical battle of Agincourt. Although Shakespeare devotes the play to the events leading to war, he simultaneously gives us insight into the political and private life of a king. It is this unity of two distinct areas that has turned the play into a critical no man s land, acrimoniously contested and periodically disfigured by opposing barrages of intellectual artillery (Taylor 1). One may believe that Henry is the epitome of kingly glory, a disgrace of royalty, or think that Shakespeare himself disliked Henry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approaching the play through mere historical reconstruction limits the potential for insight into society and threatens to create a stagnant historical account. Although the situation to which the play refers no longer exists, a connection can be made between spectator and stage. The Chorus facilitates this connection. Shakespeare obviously intended that the Chorus help the audience visualize the proceedings of history. The Chorus has a dynamic role in inviting each audience member on a journey through time. They have to assemble for themselves the model ruler of Henry, in accordance with the instructions given, for it would be falsification of history to pretend that [the play] could contain a clear cut and unambiguous ideal (Iser 186). The Chorus provides a sense of individual responsibility in creating an image; a product of the imagination and not a fact of history. The Chorus bridges the gap between the past and the present. The spectator is encouraged to walk on an illusionary plain with Henry and share in his experiences. The communication by the actors is emphasized in this production, as there will be little in terms of stage decor. The Chorus is a dictionary, so to speak, for this new method of a raw and pure rendition of Henry V. It is explicit about how much stage and actors will do, how much the audience must do for itself (Beauman 6). Think, when we talk of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think I should formally introduce myself, My name was Craig Crow and I lived in Alabama on a corn farm with my wife and two beautiful twin sons. We lived in a house with 3 bedrooms and a very small crawl space in the attic. The barn was old with bright red paint and big white sliding doors, we owned 2 horses, one for me and one for my son. The only way for us to get into town was a small green beaten up pickup truck that had been passed down for generations. The house had been passed down just like the truck had been and my whole family is buried here, including my wife and I. Before I say how I died, I ll tell you how it first started.
