The Problem Of School Violence
The somewhat recent event of Sandy Hook has been a major focus of debate among any serious
discussion about school violence in America. Yet, just since Columbine, there has been over 100
school shootings, not including stabbing, rape, or even fist fights (in which there was serious injury or
death). Despite this unprecedented level of aggression among our nation s youth, the nation, in its
entirety, has not dedicated an appropriate amount of time and energy to coming up with a solution.
The bulk of the hard work needed in order to create a safer atmosphere for our children has been left
to our teachers. Yet, the workload of a teacher, along with his/her inability to interfere in out of
classroom affairs, would make him/her extremely inefficient in doing so. What exactly are these
expectations? How many of these standards can a teacher feasibly meet?
My first, and maybe only, sentiment with teacher involvement would be due to the assumption that
every violent child could have been saved before they resorted to violence. Many would say that the
student was merely distraught or abused and should suffer no blame for such atrocities. I find this
utterly ridiculous. When adults commit similar crimes, especially the murder of dozens of people, how
quickly does the public deem them psychopaths? Psychopathy is a very real and very serious
impairment. This mental deficit can have countless causes which may include the absence of oxytocin
on stimulus or an unluckily placed tumor.

Elements Of Field Programmable Gate Arrays
CHAPTER 1 1 INTRODUCTION For the past decades, scientific computation has been a popular
research tool among scientists and engineers from numerous areas, including climate modelling,
computational chemistry, and bioinformatics .With the maturing of application algorithms, developing
high performance computing platforms that satisfy the increasing computational demands, search
spaces, and data volume have become a huge challenge. As predicted by Moore s law .faster and faster
computers are built to provide more processing power every year. Apparently, speeding up the
computation serially alone is no longer enough. In 1967 Amdahl presented a model to estimate the
theoretical maximum improvement when multiple processing units were ... Show more content on

Various representation systems were introduced to represent signed integer numbers, including signed
magnitude, biased, and complement systems .Both the signed and unsigned integer representations can
be extended to encode fractional data by employing an implicit or explicit radix point that denotes the
scaling factor. These integer based real number representations are generally called fixed point
systems, where the term fixed point implies that the scaling factor is constant during the computation
without externally reconfigured. As a result, the precision (least represent able value of the unit in the
last place, for a fixed point number system cannot be improved without sacrificing its represent able
value range. Floating point representation on the other hand provides not only the ability for wide
dynamic range support, but also high precision for small values. A typical floating point number is
represented in four components, and its value can be calculated with the equation. x = ± s × be, where
s is the significant and e is the biased exponent (with implicit bias). The standard precision of

Jeremy Bentham And John Stuart Mill s Mill On Utilitarianism
Mill on Utilitarianism The creed which accepts as the foundation of morals, Utility, or the Greatest
Happiness Principle, holds that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness,
wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness (Utilitarianism, Mill). This theory of
Utilitarianism was generated by the original Utilitarians, Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill. Mill
says: Happiness is intended pleasure, and the absence of pain; by unhappiness, pain, and the privation
of pleasure (Utilitarianism, Mill). Furthermore, these basic principles of Utilitarianism are located
under the Greatest Happiness Principle which states that actions are considered moral when they
promote happiness and immoral when they promote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, based on the theory of life, Mill believes that pleasure is an end in itself, the ultimate
goal of life. As a result, it is proven through Mill s idea of the Utility Calculation, under the theory of
utilitarianism, that the officers of the Chino Police Department acted immorally in the case of
Angelynn York. (Utilitarianism, mill)
In the case of Angelynn York vs. The Chino Police Department, York was sexually harassed by Officer
Ron Story when confiding in the Chino Police Department to address a violent assault that had taken
place earlier that day on her person. Ms. Angelynn York endured many physical and mental pains
while the Chino Police Department had many pleasures and only a small number of pains.
(Philosophy, Rachels)
This leads to Mill s categorization of the mental and physical pains of the parties involved. The
physical pains Ms.York suffered, under Mill s interpretation, were the forced undressing

Essay on Manu Soccer
MANU Soccer Academy
Tom Owen, football fanatic, has been in a close personal relationship with the game his entire life.
Owen came to the United States from the U.K. in 1998 after receiving a soccer scholarship. After
graduating, his passion and desire for teaching the game to youth naturally has led him into the
creation of a successful training camp. His Soccer Academy, MANU, has had great success in his
Colorado hometown of Fort Collins. As we explore MANU we will look at many different factors
eventually advising Tom Owen on what his next actions in the market should be.
By using the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis for the MANU Soccer
Academy, Tom Owen will understand how to utilize the strengths ... Show more content on

This makes it more difficult to expand into distant markets because Owen can only be in one place at a
time.
Lastly, we will look at the possible threats. Fortunately, because of MANU s niche market in their
current location, their external threats are somewhat limited. Most of MANU s threats come from the
external environment such as the economic environment. Parents may regard soccer camp as a
relatively elastic service and be willing to go without it because of the economic downturn and
growing unemployment. This may be looked at as a luxury that can be done without.
The analysis provided an overview for MANU Soccer Academy and seems to show that MANU is
completely prepared to go ahead with the expansion. The main issue that could impact the success of
MANU s expansion lies in the economic environment. The economy is currently in a recession.
A large portion of MANU s customers live in the immediate area. There are also several largely
populated area around this area. This makes way for MANU to expand the coverage area. There is
relatively low direct competition for MANU in Tom s immediate or surrounding area. The target
buyer for the services that MANU provides is competitive soccer players ages 11 to 14. However, the
ultimate buyer is the mother of the soccer player. One must market to both mother and child.
Tom Owen wants to expand his business, but he must take

Examples Of Romanticism In Grendel Chapter 4
One movement I observed throughout chapter 4 of Grendel is romanticism. Romanticism is an
intellectual movement that where the artist s emotions toward his audience is the true. In addition,
Gardener described how people showed the positive aspects of the world through creative ideas such
as music, poetry, and images. On page 49, Gardener s use of romanticism is when Grendel noticed
how the Shaper reshaped the world. In addition, He stared strange eyed at the mindless world and
turns dry sticks to gold (Gardener). This quote clearly exemplifies romanticism to show that the
Shaper had influenced the Danes about the positive world he envisioned after the war in Chapter 3. In
order to show his vision that he said through his songs, he brought the idea of a new meadhall that
would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He knew the Shaper was tricking the people to believe in him. Another example of Gardner s use of
romanticism is the Shaper told the story about the ancient feud between two brothers which split the
entire world between darkness and light (Gardener, pg. 50). This quote exemplifies romanticism as the
allegory of Cain and Abel. The Shaper represented Cain as darkness and Abel as the light. Grendel
honestly admitted he was the dark side because he was a descendant of Cain. Because the Shaper s
words were powerful, it made Grendel depressed. He knew that he was cursed by God, due to the
curse he inherited from Cain. However, he looked at the corpse where the man was slaughtered by a
group of men in order to conclude that both him and men were sinful and imperfect. As proof, Grendel
had seen humans kill each other throughout chapter 1 4. As the darkness is increased through Grendel
s heart, Grendel now feels the Shaper s foolishness towards tricking the humans, foreseeing a plan to
destroy humanity. John Gardner implemented romanticism in order to show that romanticism can lead
people to

Effect of Spices and Herbs on Inhibiting Bacteria Growth
Research Plan
Research Question: What is the antimicrobial effect of common household spices/herbs such as
cinnamon, cloves, mustard, ginger, and garlic, on the zone of inhibition in the Staphylococcus
epidermis covered nutrient agar?
Hypothesis: If 3 teaspoons of chopped cinnamon, cloves, mustard, ginger, and garlic steep in half a
cup of boiling water for 15 hours and then placed in nutrient agar covered with Staphylococcus
epidermis (gram positive) bacteria for 24 hours (in an incubator), garlic will have the strongest
antimicrobial effect. This is because of allicin (an active principle of garlic homogenates), which has a

types of bats, only about 70% are insectivores. The rest are fruit eater, or frugivores. There is a few
species that feed from animals other than insects. There is two sub orders of bats there are mega bats
and micro bats. Mega bats are the one that eat fruits. The micro bats are the highly specialized bats
that use echolocation. Bats are found all around the world except really extreme cold weather. Bats
provide important ecological roles all around the world. The mega bats pollinate flowers and disperse
fruit seeds, which are vital to tropical plant species that depend on them to distribute their seeds. Bats

Sexism In The Work Force Essay
Sexism is the social justice issue that involves discrimination in society based on gender. Both men
and women can experience the effects of sexism today but women seem to endure this injustice more.
This can be seen in the work force today as women do not receive equal rights as men in this
particular department. Women are often paid less than men and there is a glass ceiling which is the
term used for the barriers that women face in being promoted to higher level jobs. Although our world
has made significant progress lately in creating equal rights for all women, in the U.S. today, men still
dominate the most important positions of power. Another area where both women and men are
sexualized is the media. The media creates unrealistic images ... Show more content on

poverty are homelessness and especially hunger. Major regions affected by poverty and hunger
include Sub Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Over ⅕ of the world s population experienced

Gender Bias Of Face Recognition
The ability of humans to recognise and remember faces is remarkable. Interestingly, there seem to be
many factors that influence the performance of facial recognition, such as age, gender, race and even
particular social or cultural groups that people belong to.
This experiment explores whether there is gender bias in face recognition.
Own gender bias in facial recognition is the tendency to recognise individuals from one s own gender
better than individuals from the other gender (Herlitz Lovén, 2013).
Categorisation Individuation model: (Herlitz Lovén, 2013)
Categorisation: classification of face according to shared group features
Individuation: classification of faces according to individual features
Individuation is more effective with faces you are most familiar with. Our perceptual expertise comes
from early childhood caregivers, friendship groups, cultural representations etc. (Herlitz Lovén, 2013)
Categorisation is more effective when faces belong to a group you identify with. Out group faces are
processed categorically, whilst in group faces are processed individually. In groups can include
gender, age, ethnicity, membership or organisations etc. (Wolff, Kemter, Schweinberger Wiese, 2014)
Review relevant literature: theories past research,
In the past, there has been evidence for bias in facial recognition for people that are similar to us in a
certain way, whether it be race, age, or some other characteristic. For example, there is own race bias,

Essay Promote Person Centred Approaches
Promote person centered approaches in health and social care 1.1 Explain how and why person
centered values must influence all aspects of health and social care work: Because everybody has
different belief systems, needs, disabilities, cultures, religious beliefs. Everybody has their own person
centered care plans that help us approach them in an individual way, even if we know how to assist
clients we still try to offer those choices and independence. We need to make sure we do not push our
beliefs onto those who cannot choose for themselves. 1.2 Evaluate the use of care plans in applying

Compare Three Phase And Six Phase Induction Motor
Abstract: The area of the multiphase motor has experienced a significant growth in last decade
numerous interesting development have been reported in the literature in this chain this paper is an
attempt to mathematically model both three phase and six phase induction motor for comparison of
their characteristics. Using this mathematical modeling a Simulink model is created whose results
shows that the six phase induction motor can sustain more than four times the torque that can be
sustained by three phase induction motor of same design parameters. The six phase motor is better not
just in torque handling capacity but it also has inherent advantages of the multiphase induction motor.

II. PROCEDURE FOR MODELING
A. Three phase induction motor
A motor is an electromechanical device which converts electrical energy into a mechanical energy.
The induction motor is the workhorse of the industry. In case of its three phase AC operation, they do
not require any starter. They are self starting Induction motor. Every Motor consists of two major
parts: (a) Stator (b) Rotor
(a) Stator: Stator of three phase induction motor is made up of cast iron. It has numbers of slots to
construct a 3 phase winding circuit in them which is connected to 3 phase AC source. The three phase
winding are arranged in such a manner that they produce a rotating magnetic field hen a 3 phase AC
supply is provided to them.
(b) Rotor: The rotor is the moving component of the induction motor it is made up of laminated steel
in the core with evenly spaced bars of copper or aluminum placed axially around the periphery.

close to her. One theory that was presented that she deceived by someone who knew, before being
attacked.
More importantly the fingerprints of Burke was found on the bowl of pineapple discovered in the
kitchen post murder. While Burke was questioned briefly, he was never seriously considered as a
suspect and was often shielded by his parents. Burke was only other person in home, was the center of
attention until Patsey came along. Burk even had emotional outbreaks which included hitting
JonBenet with golf club.. Ramsey family could have covered case up to protect Burk
JonBenét s body was found in the basement of the family home there was a cord tied around her neck,
her wrists were tied above her head and there was some tape over her mouth., the location of her body
was unusual. However, taken together with the ransom note, this does start to appear questionable.

The Ecosystem of the Rainforest
The Ecosystem of the Rainforest
An ecosystem is a relationship among the living and non living organisms in a designated area and the
environment in which they interact with. It includes plants, trees, animals, water, and soil. The
rainforest ecosystem includes a variety of species, plants, and animals. All living organisms in this
ecosystem physically adapt to the rain.
The climate in the rainforest is very humid due the amount of rainfall. A tropical rainforest is very hot

is the plants and trees.
As mentioned before animals and plants play a very important part in making sure that the rainforest
have energy to stay a life. If you take away trees and plants the animals will have nothing to keep
them alive they will not have food or a home to keep them warm, some animals will move on and find
new homes, but if you cut down trees and rip out planes then without all of these things not just
animals but humans also can t survive. If an animal s moves on and finds new home outside the
rainforest then the rainforest will lose the source of what gives it life and energy and that can really
hurt the rainforest. Biotic, meaning of or related to life, are living factors. Plants, animals, fungi,
protist and bacteria are all biotic or living factors. (Library ThinkQuest n.d.) Life is always important

The Holy One of Israel in Isaiah
The Holy One of Israel This essay concerns about the meaning of the divine title The Holy One of
Israel in the Book of Isaiah. It is going to state clearly the study approach before going into the
discussion.
Approach of this essay
The book of Isaiah had been studied through different approaches of which three are quite
distinctive[1].
(1) A pre critical, or traditional, understanding, still found in some conservative scholars. They keep
the entire book of Isaiah connected to the prophet Isaiah of the eighth century B.C.E. There is nothing
intrinsically impossible as the approach is prophecy . With the rise of historical criticism , such an
approach has been commonly rejected in the interpretive world.

Israel acquires holiness by being obedient to God s commandments and faithful to His covenant (Lev
11:44; Deut 28:9)[4]. The concept of holiness permeates the life of Israel. Even the land occupied by
the people is considered holy (Zech 2:12). The capital city Jerusalem is designated as the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High (Ps 46:4).
The Holy One of Israel
The term The Holy One of Israel reflects the dialectical relation between The Holy One and Israel . It
is a relation with the Holy One with a non holy entity[5]. The Holy One requires Israel to be holy. Be
holy because I, the Lord Your God, am holy (Lev 19:2). The separate one becomes the attached one.
Their relation is bound by covenant. The challenge of the relation is Israel s unfaithfulness in
worshipping other god s. The most notable example is the imposition of Baal worship on the northern
kingdom by Ahab s marriage to Jezebel. Both the northern and the southern kingdoms suffered
captivity. Any rebellious from Israel side causes discipline from The Holy One side. Exile from Israel
causes In the midst from the other, punishment causes redemption , go astray causes teaches and leads
etc. In the Book of Isaiah, the Holy One is the Lord, God. The Lord has passion. He is angry at Israel
who rejects His laws (5:24; 31:1) but His compassion is good news more directly for the powerless
(29:19). He is the Creator of Israel (43:15), the Maker of this nation (17:7;

What if one of the people that took me aside in country B would come to my country and he would be
considered as a slave? Under the ethical theory known as the Veil of Ignorance , every person in
society has the right to equal freedom. Also if there is an inequality in society, it must be to everyone s
advantage. Since racial profiling violates a person s freedom, the violation benefits no one, therefore
racial profiling should be considered immoral.
One way of trying to eliminate racial profiling, would be through extensive data collection because it
is beneficial on many fronts. According to http://www.racialprofilinganalysis.neu.edu/background/,
data collection gives the following benefits:
• Send a strong message to the community that the department is against racial profiling and that
racial profiling is inconsistent with effective policing and equal protection
• Build trust and respect for the police in the communities they serve
• Provide departments with information about the types of stops being made by officers, the
proportion of police time spent on high discretion stops, and the results of such stops
• Help shape and develop training programs to educate officers about racial profiling and interactions
with the community
• Enable the development of police and community dialogue to assess the quality and quantity of
police citizen encounters
• Allay community concerns about the activities of police

Asch On Conformity
Although not every individual is affected by it, the fear of being alone is prevalent throughout the
world. Monophobia, or the fear of being alone, can cause a person to conform. Whether it be to a
majority, a small group, a single individual, or an idea, conforming is so frequent that it is often
performed blindly. A common example of conformity is dress code within a workplace. If somebody
sees their coworkers wearing a suit and tie, odds are that they will conform to this standard and dress
the same way, in order to not stand out. So why exactly do we conform? Author Doris Lessing
provides an answer to this question in her article, Group Minds. Lessing describes how westerners
conform and how it affects their individuality. Social psychologist at Rutgers University, Solomon
Asch provides similar ideas, but in a more scientific manner. In his article, Opinions and Social
Pressure, Asch studies how men conform to the social pressures of a group. While each piece presents
feasible information, Asch delivers said information in a more credible format. Lessing and Asch take
different approaches to address this topic. Lessing takes a more philosophical approach, focusing on a
western attitude towards conformity. She opens by stating that westerners view themselves as free

Nigeria As A Country In The Country Of Nigeria
Nigeria a country located on the west coast of Africa that is divided into 36 States. The country itself
was not created until the British consolidated their colonial power in 1914; however all 36 states wasn
t established until 1996. Nigeria is known for over 527 Languages in which 7 are extinct. Nigeria has
a variety of ethnic backgrounds which range from Arabic to Western European. Regardless of
Nigerians social status being rural or urban; it is tradition to celebrate births and weddings as well as
congregate for funerals; which typically are withheld for a month to gives families from different
regions time to arrive back to the country. Nigerians celebrate common holidays that s also here in
America; however the dates are different, for example Independence Day is October 1 and Workers

incorporated with celebrations such as festivals and rural events (Britannica.com).
The gender roles in Nigeria glorifies the man as dominate over the women with women having fewer

For the purpose of struggling against some additional difficulties when going internationally,
companies have to consider of the importance of international business and being awareness of
implementing an effective strategy on an international level .
1.3.1 The Importance of International Business
International business is a process which its all activities are carried out under the control of
government. It involves two or more countries. To understand the importance of going internationally,
it would be good to find out the answer of this question; why is international business important
especially for domestic companies? The simplest answer is that international business has a huge and
growing share of the business in the world. Today, many companies all around the world, large or
small, are influenced by global issues and competition for the reason of a large number of them sell
their products to and/or suppliers from foreign countries secretly and/or stay ın the competition against
products and services which come from other markets.
International business is a kind of opportunity for the countries and the consumers to be exposed to
these services and goods which are hard to find in their own region. Clothes, food, jewellery, stocks,
wines, spare parts and the similar products are always ready to use all the time in international
markets. Providing a service is also done with some ways such as; banking, consulting and

Technology and Teenagers Essay
Everywhere you go teens seem to be glued to their phones, tablets, or computers. Technology is an
addiction that does not seem to be going away any time soon. According to the Washington Post, teens
can spend up to seven or more hours on their digital devices a day and the usage is still increasing. Not
surprisingly enough, more than a third of all teenagers own a cellphone, ranging from a smart phone
or just a plain old school flip phone. But can spending all that time on their computers and smart
devices be such a bad thing? Today s easy access, always on world presents a wealth of opportunity

school staff to understand the given technology so they can distribute the information effectively to
their students. All the technology in the world will be ineffective if the teachers themselves are not
passionate of their work. Technology has the potential to transform the learning environment from
passive to active and more subject to the control of the learner. (qtd. In Lavin, Korte, Davies). It is
unfortunate to say that everything teenagers search for online is not educational or socially acceptable
for that matter. For students who do use the internet to their educational advantage, grade higher than
those who abuse their privilege online. As McFarlane states, computer use alone, without clear
objectives and well designed tasks, is of little intrinsic value (qtd. In Lavin, Korte, Davies). McFarlane
states that structure and guidance is the only way to properly utilize the technology in classrooms.
Contrary to popular belief, Lowerison did not find significant relationship between actual computer
use and perceived effective computer usage on course evaluations (qtd. In Lavin, Korte, Davies).
Expectations of technology in classrooms can no longer be perceived as an exclusive feature and the
effects of the technology can no longer interest them (Lavin, Korte, Davies). Burbules and Callister

God Is Good And Evil
The naturally good world has been corrupted by evil, and a God is going to restore it to its nature.
Apparently, the restoration is indeed obvious. It is shown through the everlasting teachings of
kindness, harmony, and peace. Men are smart, but they are selfish and ignorant, making them unable
to invent such moral teachings. Hence, those teachings, or Laws, are derived from an another source
God who is perfectly selfless. Indeed, Christianity is sensical, for there are evidences that God is
making changes in humanity. If there is a God, then who God is, by the way? Those who believe in
God have always questioned the Supreme Being in whom they believed day by day. Eventually, they
start to make the answers to their curiosity. The first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, all of the innocent Jews would be executed cruelly as Hitler treated them as if they had been
devils. Or in a more Biblical context, had everyone agreed with the Romans perspectives that
Christians were evil, Christianity would not have existed. To this point, the Pantheists could argue that
Vengeance should not be done because there is a God, who is beyond Good and Evil, tells human not
to do so. If God was beyond Good and Evil, how would he decide which actions are good and bad. As
he was neither Good nor Evil, he could judge any action was moral or immoral. For instance, he could
say forgiveness is Good. At the same time, he could also declare Killing is good, for goodness and
badness did not simply exist in him. If God was this way, no one would choose to follow him. In
contrast, a Good God creates a Moral Law, which commands people to forgive and not to kill.
Universally, everyone knows that killing is bad, and forgiveness is good, but why it is so? Killing is
bad because such action goes against the direction of the Moral Law. Conversely, Forgiveness is good
because it abides by the Moral Law. A Good God makes the Moral Law, and solely the Good God
leads men to a better world. A Pantheists God only leaves humanity as it has been. Another man made
answer to the question is Dualism, which states that the universe is a battlefield of two Deities Good
and Bad(Lewis, 1952, p. 42). However, if there were actually two fighting

Title: Volatile Organic Compound detection using Graphene: Determining the Fruit Ripeness
1 Introduction
Fruits are commercially vital and nutritionally crucial food constituent. Forming an element of a
balanced diet, fruits supply essential growth governing factors required for good health and play a
critical role in human nutrition. Distributed widely in nature, their economic values are influenced by
comparatively short ripening period and short post harvest life. The assessment and maintenance of
the quality of fruits and vegetables are very difficult task. The timely detection of fruit ripeness is very
important as it is related to the profitability and also competitiveness of the producers as well as
processors. During harvesting and handling it is common that fruits are subject to damage because it is

Parents Must Make A Good Parent
Parents serve no purpose. Parents provide no help. Parents give no benefits to children. Children could
easily live without parents. Everyone has parents; it s inevitable. Whether or not children believe that
their parents behave in a way to benefit them is a decision they choose to make. These statements
differ from reality, parents truly represent some of the greatest people in our world; they do serve a
purpose and they impact their children immensely. For some children, they may see the discipline
from their parents as their parents failing at their jobs. In actuality, parents need to discipline to
structure their children into mature adults. They need to show love and forgiveness even though
sometimes it may seem impossible. Children will become the future and parents hold responsibility
for that. Therefore, parents must mold them into adults that our future needs. A good parent should
model three essential qualities: forgiveness, discipline, and love.
The first essential quality includes a good parent modeling forgiveness. For example, my grandmother
spent the majority of her relationship with her husband, my grandfather, battling against alcohol.
Countless times, she fought against my grandfather and his addiction to alcohol. After 15 years and
five children, my grandfather gave up fighting against alcohol, and he won; he became sober. My
grandmother didn t give up, she didn t back down, and she didn t throw away their marriage; she
forgave. Their marriage may not

Pursuing Sex In Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress
Kelcie Horner
Professor D Angelo
English 102
December 3, 2017 Pursuing Sex
The speaker in To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell is a shady man that is trying to persuade a
virgin to have sex with him. The man is using the uncertainty of death throughout the poem to seduce
the woman, which leads to the assumption that it is more about sex, than love. Although he does
admire her beauty, the question to be asked is whether he is in love with her or if he is in it for his own
selfishness. If time is the super villain of Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress, then having sex is
the super power he needs to gain control over his enemy. But, sex isn t so easy to come by. Possibly
because only a very special someone would understand the speaker s ideas about it. With wit and
daring, the speaker discusses sex in frank, beautiful, and disturbing language. (Shmoop Editorial
Team). The man seductively uses the essence of time to try to persuade the woman to have sex with
him, before they both die, or before she figures out what his true intentions are.
The man preys into the fear and uncertainty of death by stating then worms shall try that long
preserved virginity, and your quaint honour turn to dust (Marvell 27 29). This disgusting image is
intended to encourage his lover to give her virginity to the speaker rather than foolishly saving herself
for the worms when buried. He also makes a pun of her quaint honour , which could be seen as a
reference to her naïve preservation of her virginity even though death ( turn to dust ) is inevitable. It is
also a reference to her body quaint was a euphemism for vagina around the late 16th century (BBC).
He is trying to get her to let go of her honor, implying she will lose her virginity eventually, whether it
is with him or the worms in her grave. Trying his best to get what he truly wants, he starts using her
honor against her, telling her that worms will turn her honor to dust and if she would just have sex
with him it would be preserved. The man insinuates that he will admire and love her for ages, but if
that is true, why is he so persistent for it to happen right now?
Starting off the poem he tells the woman how long he is willing to wait for her, but there is

Cultural Dimensions And Its Impact On The East And Middle...
Monochromic cultures tend to be focused on the schedule, on doing one thing after another. Usually in
sequence. Western cultures are very monochronic, particularly, countries like the United States,
Switzerland, and Germany. For instance, it is common for people from these cultures to schedule a
day full of meetings. Agendas ending promptly and moving to the next meeting one right after the
other. This approach does not work well in the east and Middle East regions, where culture is
polychronic. The sequential approach can send the wrong message and often offend the people from
polychronic cultures. Focusing on the schedule, the wrong message can be sent and misunderstanding
can result. Differently, polychronic time orientation is very practical plan on doing more than one
thing at the time. Polychromic individuals will take the time to build the relationship, and expect
people to do the same for them. They plan on doing multiple things at one time. Hofstede s cultural
dimensions The lack of precision and the lack of a universally applicable framework for classifying
cultural patterns have been addressed by a number of researchers. The most famous and most often
cited work in this area is the research by the Dutch organizational anthropologist Hofstede. Here is an
overview of the work of Hofstede, which is probably the most popular work in the area of culture
research. Although the work provides a relatively general framework for analysis, the framework can

Feminist Perspective On Human Trafficking
Through International Relations theory lenses, especially the Feminist lens, the issue of human
trafficking is easily identified as an international crisis. Not only is this a human rights and security
issue, but a gendered one at that. Approximately 80% of the exploitation that comes from human
trafficking is in a sexual nature, and a majority of trafficking victims are female ( 11 Facts about
Human Trafficking ). There is a clear stance from the feminist theory perspective that it is the states
responsibility, and even duty, to protect vulnerable females from subjugation and mistreatment that
comes from the global human trafficking system. Economic, cultural, and social factors influence the
condition in which women are susceptible to being trafficked. A destabilized region, whether it be
political, civil, or military unrest, results in the increase of human trafficking. These dangers within
the state lead to displacements in population, as many attempt to migrate out of the region into safer
territories ( Addressing the Root Causes ). BBC News reports of similar instances in Albania, a
country in which trafficking took hold in the years after the collapse of communism in 1990 ( Human
trafficking: Poor women and girls targeted in Albania 2017). The victims in Albania are promised
false employment opportunities before being sold into prostitution rings and brothels. The Feminist
theory recognizes that male dominated governments and cultures may not feel obligated to

Marine Extract Molecules And Their Application Essay
Marine extract molecules and their application in inhibiting E.coli quorum sensing as a potential
antibacterial pharmaceutical
Abstract
Quorum sensing, or cell to cell communication, is an occurrence that is very widespread amongst
pathogenic bacteria which infect the human population. With increased development of bacterial
resistance against antibiotics, scientists have taken an anti bacterial approach to manipulate quorum
sensing and impede cell growth and communication. Quorum sensing can be seen in E.coli reporter
stains when applying N acyl homoserine, also known as AHL, which E.coli cannot otherwise produce.
This experiment makes E.coli ideal candidates for experimentation. The E.coli reporter strain has
fluorescence abilities which allows us to assess quorum sensing inhibitory activity. Understanding
quorum sensing is important in identifying and developing molecules that have the potential to block
bacterial biofilm.
Introduction
Quorum sensing is a system of communication which many bacteria use to convey messages amongst
each other. It is also a mechanism which regulates gene expression in said bacteria based on the
density of their population. Bacteria are capable of producing and releasing molecules called auto
inducers as a direct function of their cell density. These molecules can be used to regulate symbiosis,
motility, bacterial biofilm formation, the expression of virulent proteins and various other processes
(Bassler, 2001). This type of quorum sensing

How Is Offred Presented In The Handmaid s Tale
Offred Offred is the protagonist and narrator of the The Handmaid s Tale . As one of the rare fertile
women in this dystopian world, she is put at the bottom of the social hierarchy as a Handmaid, where
her sole purpose is to provide children for the Commander and his Wife. Despite being the
protagonist, Offred is a passive character who generally conforms to the social stereotypes in Gilead
due to her cowardice. Despite this, there are some moments where the reader is able to acknowledge
the degree of power she holds within this society. According to critic Coral Ann Howells, those at the
bottom don t have power , yet Carol L. Beran argues that they have some kind of special power , and
indeed, Offred is not completely powerless in Gileadean society. All women in Gilead have a
modicum of power, and Offred is no exception. She gains her power through her biology and
sexuality, because men in Gilead are not allowed a woman until they become an Angel, a high position
in the social hierarchy. Offred s power is often hidden or oppressed by the system the Sons of Jacob
have created. This is seen when Offred says doubled, I walk down the street (Atwood) when
recounting the experience of shopping with her partner, Ofglen. Here, Offred is literally doubled due
to Ofglen walking alongside her in identical clothing, which could suggest the lack of power due to
the loss of identity. This also illustrates how the Sons of Jacob attempt women from using their power
by using them as

Sushi And Hibachi, Roseville, Minnesota

I waited three months for, the day in which I get to try Japanese cuisine. What should be expected?
What if it tastes less than desirable? Will my etiquette be correct? I prepared and researched several
hours in advance regarding this. Once inside the restaurant, following closely, the three of us were
seated at an interesting table; like none of other restaurants in the area. A large, open, flat topped stove
stands in the center, behind it, a chef stands, smiling as we sit down and open the thick menu of food
items. Scanning the chef, noting his tall white hat, his crisply clean white apron, black uniform,
posture, it s not difficult to tell that he had been an employee for a significant amount of time.
Flipping through the menu, it was apparent the variety of sushi, sashimi and nigiri was overwhelming.
Luckily enough, my mother and grandmother came into this with a plan. Initially we ordered our
drinks, personally I ordered a Japanese soda, and when it was brought to the table I was surprised by
the appearance of the bottle alone. A rather curved glass overall, the bottom portion was similar to that

Pro Life Vs Pro Choice
So you made a mistake, but life is all about fixing those mistakes and learning from them. Abortion
has been a topic talked about for several years and I strongly believe that abortion should be the
mothers choice. The definition of abortion is The termination of pregnancy by the removal or
expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth. Pro life
people are against abortion and consider it to be murder whereas pro choice people believe it is the
mothers choice whether she wants to abort the baby or not. Women have many reasons to abort their
babies such as religion, age and financial problems.
People in our world are of many different religions and all those different religions have different
opinions on abortion. Many people believe in pro life because of their religion. Most religions such as
Catholicism and Hinduism are against abortion, but not all Jews Buddhists are completely against.
Under extreme cases, they believe that abortion should be allowed. Even some pro life believes think
that under extreme cases the baby should be aborted. An example is if giving birth to the baby would
put the mother or baby in danger. It s said that the risks of death associated with childbirth is 10 times

John Ross And Mill s Utilitarianism And Ross Essay
Introduction:
Mill s Utilitarianism and Ross Intuitionalism both use moral intuitions as core components of their
moral theories, though their valuation of these intuition in making morally sound decisions differ. I
will argue that it is this mis valuation of moral intuition in Utilitarian tradition that makes the moral
theory unstable and prone to criticism. Ross deontological approach to moral intuitions provides a
more believable, and morally acceptable account of the role these intuitions play in making ethical
decisions. In this paper I will begin with underlying both Ross and Mill s valuation of moral intuitions
in the framework of their moral theories, followed by a brief explanation of each philosophers view of
what makes an act moral . Having established these I will, with the aid of an anecdote about a child
and a sled, describe my difficulties with Mill s utilitarian approach to ethics. Finishing with an
assessment of some utilitarian complaints about Ross theory. Ultimately Utilitarianism provides a
commendable theory for widely applicable and practical moral action, but it s inability to address
conflicts with strong moral intuitions weakens it s argument leading me to favor that of Ross more
flexible, yet not relativistic, intuitionalism.
i) The Value of Moral Intuitions:
Both Ross and Mill recognize the existence of what one might call a prima facie duty ( or virtue), this
being an action that is intuitively deemed morally right

Doctor Strange is my choice for 2nd in command first because of his time warping capabilities. I will

that I never knew existed, a researcher. I never thought of myself as that because I believed
researchers were naturally smart, which I was not. However, intelligence is not determined by grades
or GPA. It is about grit, which I gained by never being the victim of my circumstances. As mentioned
earlier, coming to terms with my racial identity definitely impacted my academics. While I was
enraged by Truman s aura, I realized I could not let that take away from my mental energy anymore.
With the arrival of my senior year, I channeled all that frustration in graduate applications and studies
because unless I did well in those two avenues, I would not be leaving Truman anytime soon. Now, I
have been accepted into five different Master Programs (as of 3/18) at the University of Texas San
Antonio, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, University of Colorado Denver and Colorado Springs
and Saint Louis

Advantages Of Electric Car
2. Introduction
2.1 Statement of the Problem
Nowadays, the using of electro car becomes more popular over the world. Most of the people will
drive for work or travel in Zhuhai, and the using of fossil fuel car can cause environmental problem
such as climate change, global warming. Environmental problems are more serious than before. Air
pollution could be caused by releasing off gas from fuel vehicle. The using of electro car is not only
benefit for the environmental problem, but also good for economic development. On the other hand,
there are still a lot of problems need to be solved if we want to popularize the use of electro car in
Zhuhai, such as the limitation of driving distance and long charging time. These kinds of
disadvantages will affect the citizen s willingness of choosing electro car. So we want to find out the
factors that influence Zhuhai citizen willingness of using electro car.

As we know that, electric car is an automobile that using electrical energy propelled by one or more
electric device such as battery. This kind of power will cause the problem of limiting of driving
distance, and the car should charge for the battery again in order to drive for a longer distance. Many
electric designs have limited range, due to the low energy density of batteries compared to the fuel
vehicles. Electric cars mostly have less limited distance for one charge, but fossil fueled cars can
travel for long travel. But they can need time to recharge. On the other hand, electric car can be
charged at home at night, while fossil fueled cars cannot. In America, 71 percent of car drivers drive
less than 40 miles a day, and just for a quick topping up. (UC Davis, 2011).Which means that the
driving distance of electro car is less than fuel vehicle, and the distance of charging is not enough for a

Fracking Is Not The Way
Title: Fracking is not the way Danny Vinik, a staff at new republic wrote Fracking Is Good For
American Consumers he argues that fracking is good for the economy because it brought down the
price of gas and saved a lot of money. Vinik cleverly argues his point that fracking saves a lot of
money for the united states, he weakens his argument by using a lot of numbers and not calculating
the damages caused by fracking. The outcome is an article that has all numbers but the numbers don t
outweigh the amount of damage caused by fracking. First what is hydraulic fracking? Hydraulic
fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high pressure water mixture is directed
at the rock to release the gas inside. Water, sand and chemicals are infused into the stone at high
weight which permits the gas to stream out to the leader of the well. Vinik talks about the positive side
of fracking but he fails to mention the harm fracking causes. Fracking wastewater contains high levels
of radioactivity and other contaminants that wastewater treatments plants have had difficulty
removing; this potentially contaminated wastewater can than be discharged into local rivers. In
Pennsylvania, more than 3,000 gas fracking wells and allowed well locales are situated inside two
miles of 320 day mind focuses, 67 schools and nine healing centers. Fracking is prohibited.excluded
from key government water insurances, and elected and state controller have permitted unchecked

One Of The Main Problems With The Law Is Injustice In The
One of the main problems with the law is injustice in the criminal justice system. There are so many
innocent people serving time in jail. The criminal justice system in America was created to keep
communities safe, to respect and restore victims, and to return offenders who leave prison to be self
sufficient and law abiding. What the system has become is a monumental failure that our states and
nation can no longer afford. There has been a growth in crime, but that may be because of the growth
of technology and receiving information. Wrongful conviction and prison overcrowding are known as
major issues in the criminal justice system because prisoners are held liable for crimes they did not
commit and taxpayers pay for the care ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to statistics, Blacks have a disproportionate representation in the prison system. Some say
that Blacks and Latinos and more likely to be charged for a crime because of their race (Blumstein
p.39). Incarceration rates between Blacks and Whites are disproportionate, with a ratio of seven blacks
to one white. This is a profound example of racial discrimination (Gabbidon, and Greene). Most say
that the main cause of wrongful conviction is corruption in the justice system. The Justice System may
convict an innocent of a crime just so someone is held liable for said crime, and in order for them to
move on to the next case. We have all heard or read, whether on the news or in the paper, about
criminal cases where individuals are convicted of crimes and sometimes even given the death penalty;
and in most of these cases they were given a public lawyer, that may have been inexperienced with
these types of cases, or did not put as much work into the case as they should have. Which led to a
clearly innocent individual being held liable for a crime. Such incompetency on the part of a defense
attorney undoubtedly results in some wrongful convictions (Warner). Lives have been known to be
torn apart by prosecutorial misconduct. Numerous safeguards have been placed in our judicial system,
to help protect against wrongful convictions of innocent people. One of many protections our judicial
system provides to protect against wrongful convictions is the presumption

Swot Analysis on Retail Strategies of Iocl
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 INDIAN PETROLEUM SECTOR
Management of retail business is the key determining factor in the success of any business. To gain a
sustainable competitive advantage, a retailer needs to understand and satisfy the customer s needs.
This principle holds true in petroleum retailing too. All efforts at exploration and production, refining,
distribution and marketing finally conclude at the retail point after moving through long complicated
supply chain. The downstream business is extremely complicated and of substantial strategic
importance to the national economy. Oil products, especially transportation fuels, play a key role in
the national economic growth. This is what makes the retail business exiting and ... Show more

The government also proposes to hold the oil companies accountable for the quality of product
dispensed through their network. Retail sales of diesel account for 80% of total sales and in petrol this
percentage is 98%.
Price of petrol and diesel so far, has not been a differentiating factor in the retail business. Even after
the dismantling of the administered pricing mechanism, the price of the product remains the same
throughout the length and breadth of the country. It is a well known fact that the cost of the product is
a very important factor in consumer choice. With the entry of a few private players, though in a small
magnitude, a price war has already started at a few regions. This price war is going to become a reality
in times to come when new entrants go for an aggressive expansion of their retail network. They have
already sped up their efforts, commissioning new retail outlets in the past few years. At this stage, for
the government oil companies, it is crucial to undertake a concerted effort at cutting down their costs
and improving efficiency to effectively counter this challenge. Using information technology for
supply chain management, and monitoring the quality and quantity of product can go a long way to
improve efficiency and cut down costs.
One of the more visible transformations in the retail business of auto fuels is the realization by oil
companies that most non fuel activities can also be an important source of revenue

Irish Ireland Research Paper
Despite the Catholic Irish people making up over 80 percent of the population, they were subjugated
to the lower classes to live in squalor. Despite the inherent divide between the Protestant British and
Catholic Irish, Ireland was relatively peaceful for the next century, other than a rebellion led by
Theobald Wolfe Tone and the United Irishmen in 1798. 30,000 people were killed in this rebellion,
which laid the groundwork for the separatist republicanism to come and caused the Act of Union of
1800 to be passed, closing the Irish Parliament in Dublin and giving Protestant London full control
over Catholic Ireland.
The population quadrupled during the peaceful century from 1740 1840, the economy flourished,
Catholics fought for, and gained, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An Irish nationalist paramilitary organization called the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) was
established in 1858 and worked for the armed expulsion of the British, where the Home Rule Party
worked for the political expulsion. In 1912, the British passed a Home Rule Bill, which gave the Irish
political autonomy, but the bill was never enacted due to the breakout of World War I in 1914. In
1913, two organizations, the nationalist Irish Volunteers (IV) and unionist (pro British) Ulster
Volunteers (UV) were founded in Dublin and Belfast, respectively, and the IV absorbed the IRB. The
two groups were set for a full on conflict before the outbreak of the war, but both sides believed the
national question could be answered after WWI and sent men to the trenches. A small, revolutionary
minority of the IV stayed behind, as they did not want to fight for the British, these men constituted
the IRB, and saw WWI as their time to strike the weakened British. They struck on Easter Sunday in
1916, but were defeated after six days. This became known as the Easter Rising. After the IRB was
defeated, 16 of the leaders were taken to Kilmainham Gaol and executed. Executing the leaders of the
Rising was England s big mistake as it made them martyrs and gave the Irish the momentum they
needed to fight a war of Independence, which began in 1919, and that s where the movie, The Wind
that Shakes the Barley, takes

Alain Robbe-Grillet and the Secret Room Essay
Alain Robbe Grillet and The Secret Room
On page 2032 of the class s anthology, there is a work by Alain Robbe Grillet entitled The Secret
Room . What interests me about this work is that I thought that this topic or story is deep and hard to
get the idea. So, I wanted to know about Alain Robbe Grillet and wanted to get the idea. In this
connection, the question that I want to research is who Alain Robbe Grillet is and what is this story
about. First of all, Robbe grillet, he was born in Brittany, France, where was the place for scientists
and engineers. At first, he was not a writer. He earned the degree in mathematics and natural science.
He started working at National Institute of Statistics and published an article on livestock ... Show

The novel is set in a small Belgian city, a city with a considerable network of canals and bridges and
boulevards that all look the same; throughout the novel, the city becomes a type of labyrinth, adding
an ambiguous complexity of space to the novel s non linear chronology. The Erasers is more
accessible than his later novels like Jealousy and In The Labyrinth , both penultimate examples of the
New Novel. The erratic chronology, suggested symbols, circular repetitions, and stylized description
deconstruct time and space in these novels forcing the reader to reconstruct the plot. These writerly
texts transport readers to complex fictional, hence illusory, universes. The visual nature of Robbe
Grillet s books continue in his later novels, of which the collaborative novel La Belle Captive , a novel
written by Robbe Grillet with paintings and illustrations by the surrealist René Margritte, is a perfect
example where art informs art and the two mediums color the reading of each other. Recently, in 1995,
Robbe Grillet finished a trilogy: a fictional autobiography. Embracing the vogue genre of the
autobiography and foregrounding its inherently subjective nature, Robbe Grillet continues to brave the
edge of his art in the same spirit of innovation that has marked all his work. Robbe Grillet, he is very
good at describing scenes. He describes the room, the victim, and also light and smoke. So, we can
imagine what happened in this room even

Causes Of Crimes Against Humanity Essay
We know crimes against humanity as a deliberate criminal act or acts that are typically part of a
systematic campaign which causes human suffering or death on a large scale. The acts are an attack on
human dignity where the crimes can be committed during times of war and peace. Offences that come
under this category include murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation or forcible transfer of a
population, imprisonment or other severe deprivation of physical liberty, torture, sexual violence,
persecution against any identifiable group or collective, enforced disappearance of persons and other
inhumane acts of a similar character and gravity1,2,3.
I have decided to examine sexual violence and in particular the motivations behind such crimes that
constitute as sexual violence; this encompasses crimes such as rape, sexual slavery, enforced
prostitution, forced pregnancy, enforced sterilization, or any other form of sexual violence of
comparable gravity1,2,3,. In particular I am going to examine sexual violence in reference to the
conflict in former Yugoslavia, known as the Bosnian war.
The Bosnian War of 1992 1995 was a major conflict that was seen to be politically and racially
motivated between the Serbian s, Croatian s and Bosnian s. During this time the Serbian s were
participating in an illegal conflict by being in violation of the Geneva conventions, customary laws, as
well as committing odious offences that we know as crimes against humanity4.

  • 2. The Problem Of School Violence The somewhat recent event of Sandy Hook has been a major focus of debate among any serious discussion about school violence in America. Yet, just since Columbine, there has been over 100 school shootings, not including stabbing, rape, or even fist fights (in which there was serious injury or death). Despite this unprecedented level of aggression among our nation s youth, the nation, in its entirety, has not dedicated an appropriate amount of time and energy to coming up with a solution. The bulk of the hard work needed in order to create a safer atmosphere for our children has been left to our teachers. Yet, the workload of a teacher, along with his/her inability to interfere in out of classroom affairs, would make him/her extremely inefficient in doing so. What exactly are these expectations? How many of these standards can a teacher feasibly meet? My first, and maybe only, sentiment with teacher involvement would be due to the assumption that every violent child could have been saved before they resorted to violence. Many would say that the student was merely distraught or abused and should suffer no blame for such atrocities. I find this utterly ridiculous. When adults commit similar crimes, especially the murder of dozens of people, how quickly does the public deem them psychopaths? Psychopathy is a very real and very serious impairment. Various representation systems were introduced to represent signed integer numbers, including signed magnitude, biased, and complement systems .Both the signed and unsigned integer representations can be extended to encode fractional data by employing an implicit or explicit radix point that denotes the scaling factor. These integer based real number representations are generally called fixed point systems, where the term fixed point implies that the scaling factor is constant during the computation without externally reconfigured. As a result, the precision (least represent able value of the unit in the last place, for a fixed point number system cannot be improved without sacrificing its represent able value range. Floating point representation on the other hand provides not only the ability for wide dynamic range support, but also high precision for small values. A typical floating point number is represented in four components, and its value can be calculated with the equation. x = ± s × be, where s is the significant and e is the biased exponent (with implicit bias). Mill says: Happiness is intended pleasure, and the absence of pain; by unhappiness, pain, and the privation of pleasure (Utilitarianism, Mill). Romanticism is an intellectual movement that where the artist s emotions toward his audience is the true. In addition, Gardener described how people showed the positive aspects of the world through creative ideas such as music, poetry, and images. On page 49, Gardener s use of romanticism is when Grendel noticed how the Shaper reshaped the world. In addition, He stared strange eyed at the mindless world and turns dry sticks to gold (Gardener). Grendel honestly admitted he was the dark side because he was a descendant of Cain. Because the Shaper s words were powerful, it made Grendel depressed. He knew that he was cursed by God, due to the curse he inherited from Cain. However, he looked at the corpse where the man was slaughtered by a group of men in order to conclude that both him and men were sinful and imperfect. As proof, Grendel had seen humans kill each other throughout chapter 1 4. Not surprisingly enough, more than a third of all teenagers own a cellphone, ranging from a smart phone or just a plain old school flip phone. But can spending all that time on their computers and smart devices be such a bad thing? Technology has the potential to transform the learning environment from passive to active and more subject to the control of the learner. (qtd. In Lavin, Korte, Davies). It is unfortunate to say that everything teenagers search for online is not educational or socially acceptable for that matter. McFarlane states that structure and guidance is the only way to properly utilize the technology in classrooms. Contrary to popular belief, Lowerison did not find significant relationship between actual computer use and perceived effective computer usage on course evaluations (qtd. In Lavin, Korte, Davies). It is shown through the everlasting teachings of kindness, harmony, and peace. Men are smart, but they are selfish and ignorant, making them unable to invent such moral teachings. Hence, those teachings, or Laws, are derived from an another source God who is perfectly selfless. Indeed, Christianity is sensical, for there are evidences that God is making changes in humanity. Similarly, all of the innocent Jews would be executed cruelly as Hitler treated them as if they had been devils. Or in a more Biblical context, had everyone agreed with the Romans perspectives that Christians were evil, Christianity would not have existed. To this point, the Pantheists could argue that Vengeance should not be done because there is a God, who is beyond Good and Evil, tells human not to do so. If God was beyond Good and Evil, how would he decide which actions are good and bad. As he was neither Good nor Evil, he could judge any action was moral or immoral. For instance, he could say forgiveness is Good. At the same time, he could also declare Killing is good, for goodness and badness did not simply exist in him. If God was this way, no one would choose to follow him. In contrast, a Good God creates a Moral Law, which commands people to forgive and not to kill. Universally, everyone knows that killing is bad, and forgiveness is good, but why it is so? Killing is bad because such action goes against the direction of the Moral Law. Conversely, Forgiveness is good because it abides by the Moral Law. A Good God makes the Moral Law, and solely the Good God leads men to a better world. A Pantheists God only leaves humanity as it has been. Everyone has parents; it s inevitable. Whether or not children believe that their parents behave in a way to benefit them is a decision they choose to make. These statements differ from reality, parents truly represent some of the greatest people in our world; they do serve a purpose and they impact their children immensely. For some children, they may see the discipline from their parents as their parents failing at their jobs. In actuality, parents need to discipline to structure their children into mature adults. They need to show love and forgiveness even though sometimes it may seem impossible. Children will become the future and parents hold responsibility for that. Therefore, parents must mold them into adults that our future needs. A good parent should model three essential qualities: forgiveness, discipline, and love. The first essential quality includes a good parent modeling forgiveness. For example, my grandmother spent the majority of her relationship with her husband, my grandfather, battling against alcohol. Countless times, she fought against my grandfather and his addiction to alcohol. After 15 years and five children, my grandfather gave up fighting against alcohol, and he won; he became sober. • 28. Pursuing Sex In Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress Kelcie Horner Professor D Angelo English 102 December 3, 2017 Pursuing Sex The speaker in To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell is a shady man that is trying to persuade a virgin to have sex with him. The man is using the uncertainty of death throughout the poem to seduce the woman, which leads to the assumption that it is more about sex, than love. Although he does admire her beauty, the question to be asked is whether he is in love with her or if he is in it for his own selfishness. If time is the super villain of Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress, then having sex is the super power he needs to gain control over his enemy. But, sex isn t so easy to come by. Possibly because only a very special someone would understand the speaker s ideas about it. With wit and daring, the speaker discusses sex in frank, beautiful, and disturbing language. (Shmoop Editorial Team). The man seductively uses the essence of time to try to persuade the woman to have sex with him, before they both die, or before she figures out what his true intentions are. The man preys into the fear and uncertainty of death by stating then worms shall try that long preserved virginity, and your quaint honour turn to dust (Marvell 27 29). This disgusting image is intended to encourage his lover to give her virginity to the speaker rather than foolishly saving herself for the worms when buried. He also makes a pun of her quaint honour , which could be seen as a reference to her naïve preservation of her virginity even though death ( turn to dust ) is inevitable. It is also a reference to her body quaint was a euphemism for vagina around the late 16th century (BBC). He is trying to get her to let go of her honor, implying she will lose her virginity eventually, whether it is with him or the worms in her grave. Trying his best to get what he truly wants, he starts using her honor against her, telling her that worms will turn her honor to dust and if she would just have sex with him it would be preserved. The man insinuates that he will admire and love her for ages, but if that is true, why is he so persistent for it to happen right now? • 29. Cultural Dimensions And Its Impact On The East And Middle... Monochromic cultures tend to be focused on the schedule, on doing one thing after another. Usually in sequence. Western cultures are very monochronic, particularly, countries like the United States, Switzerland, and Germany. For instance, it is common for people from these cultures to schedule a day full of meetings. Agendas ending promptly and moving to the next meeting one right after the other. This approach does not work well in the east and Middle East regions, where culture is polychronic. The sequential approach can send the wrong message and often offend the people from polychronic cultures. Focusing on the schedule, the wrong message can be sent and misunderstanding can result. Differently, polychronic time orientation is very practical plan on doing more than one thing at the time. • 30. Feminist Perspective On Human Trafficking Through International Relations theory lenses, especially the Feminist lens, the issue of human trafficking is easily identified as an international crisis. Not only is this a human rights and security issue, but a gendered one at that. Approximately 80% of the exploitation that comes from human trafficking is in a sexual nature, and a majority of trafficking victims are female ( 11 Facts about Human Trafficking ). There is a clear stance from the feminist theory perspective that it is the states responsibility, and even duty, to protect vulnerable females from subjugation and mistreatment that comes from the global human trafficking system. Economic, cultural, and social factors influence the condition in which women are susceptible to being trafficked. A destabilized region, whether it be political, civil, or military unrest, results in the increase of human trafficking. These dangers within the state lead to displacements in population, as many attempt to migrate out of the region into safer territories ( Addressing the Root Causes ). BBC News reports of similar instances in Albania, a country in which trafficking took hold in the years after the collapse of communism in 1990 ( Human trafficking: Poor women and girls targeted in Albania 2017). • 31. Marine Extract Molecules And Their Application Essay Marine extract molecules and their application in inhibiting E.coli quorum sensing as a potential antibacterial pharmaceutical Abstract Quorum sensing, or cell to cell communication, is an occurrence that is very widespread amongst pathogenic bacteria which infect the human population. With increased development of bacterial resistance against antibiotics, scientists have taken an anti bacterial approach to manipulate quorum sensing and impede cell growth and communication. Quorum sensing can be seen in E.coli reporter stains when applying N acyl homoserine, also known as AHL, which E.coli cannot otherwise produce. This experiment makes E.coli ideal candidates for experimentation. The E.coli reporter strain has fluorescence abilities which allows us to assess quorum sensing inhibitory activity. Understanding quorum sensing is important in identifying and developing molecules that have the potential to block bacterial biofilm. Introduction Quorum sensing is a system of communication which many bacteria use to convey messages amongst each other. It is also a mechanism which regulates gene expression in said bacteria based on the density of their population. Bacteria are capable of producing and releasing molecules called auto inducers as a direct function of their cell density. These molecules can be used to regulate symbiosis, motility, bacterial biofilm formation, the expression of virulent proteins and various other processes (Bassler, 2001). This type of quorum sensing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As one of the rare fertile women in this dystopian world, she is put at the bottom of the social hierarchy as a Handmaid, where her sole purpose is to provide children for the Commander and his Wife. Despite being the protagonist, Offred is a passive character who generally conforms to the social stereotypes in Gilead due to her cowardice. Despite this, there are some moments where the reader is able to acknowledge the degree of power she holds within this society. According to critic Coral Ann Howells, those at the bottom don t have power , yet Carol L. Beran argues that they have some kind of special power , and indeed, Offred is not completely powerless in Gileadean society. All women in Gilead have a modicum of power, and Offred is no exception. She gains her power through her biology and sexuality, because men in Gilead are not allowed a woman until they become an Angel, a high position in the social hierarchy. Offred s power is often hidden or oppressed by the system the Sons of Jacob have created. This is seen when Offred says doubled, I walk down the street (Atwood) when recounting the experience of shopping with her partner, Ofglen. Here, Offred is literally doubled due to Ofglen walking alongside her in identical clothing, which could suggest the lack of power due to the loss of identity. John Ross And Mill s Utilitarianism And Ross Essay Introduction: Mill s Utilitarianism and Ross Intuitionalism both use moral intuitions as core components of their moral theories, though their valuation of these intuition in making morally sound decisions differ. I will argue that it is this mis valuation of moral intuition in Utilitarian tradition that makes the moral theory unstable and prone to criticism. Ross deontological approach to moral intuitions provides a more believable, and morally acceptable account of the role these intuitions play in making ethical decisions. In this paper I will begin with underlying both Ross and Mill s valuation of moral intuitions in the framework of their moral theories, followed by a brief explanation of each philosophers view of what makes an act moral . Having established these I will, with the aid of an anecdote about a child and a sled, describe my difficulties with Mill s utilitarian approach to ethics. Finishing with an assessment of some utilitarian complaints about Ross theory. Ultimately Utilitarianism provides a commendable theory for widely applicable and practical moral action, but it s inability to address conflicts with strong moral intuitions weakens it s argument leading me to favor that of Ross more flexible, yet not relativistic, intuitionalism. i) The Value of Moral Intuitions: Both Ross and Mill recognize the existence of what one might call a prima facie duty ( or virtue), this being an action that is intuitively deemed morally right ... Incarceration rates between Blacks and Whites are disproportionate, with a ratio of seven blacks to one white. This is a profound example of racial discrimination (Gabbidon, and Greene). Most say that the main cause of wrongful conviction is corruption in the justice system. The Justice System may convict an innocent of a crime just so someone is held liable for said crime, and in order for them to move on to the next case. We have all heard or read, whether on the news or in the paper, about criminal cases where individuals are convicted of crimes and sometimes even given the death penalty; and in most of these cases they were given a public lawyer, that may have been inexperienced with these types of cases, or did not put as much work into the case as they should have. Which led to a clearly innocent individual being held liable for a crime. Such incompetency on the part of a defense attorney undoubtedly results in some wrongful convictions (Warner). Lives have been known to be torn apart by prosecutorial misconduct. Numerous safeguards have been placed in our judicial system, to help protect against wrongful convictions of innocent people. One of many protections our judicial system provides to protect against wrongful convictions is the presumption ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Swot Analysis on Retail Strategies of Iocl CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 INDIAN PETROLEUM SECTOR Management of retail business is the key determining factor in the success of any business. To gain a sustainable competitive advantage, a retailer needs to understand and satisfy the customer s needs. This principle holds true in petroleum retailing too. All efforts at exploration and production, refining, distribution and marketing finally conclude at the retail point after moving through long complicated supply chain. The downstream business is extremely complicated and of substantial strategic importance to the national economy. Oil products, especially transportation fuels, play a key role in the national economic growth. This is what makes the retail business exiting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The government also proposes to hold the oil companies accountable for the quality of product dispensed through their network. Retail sales of diesel account for 80% of total sales and in petrol this percentage is 98%. Price of petrol and diesel so far, has not been a differentiating factor in the retail business. Even after the dismantling of the administered pricing mechanism, the price of the product remains the same throughout the length and breadth of the country. It is a well known fact that the cost of the product is a very important factor in consumer choice. With the entry of a few private players, though in a small magnitude, a price war has already started at a few regions. This price war is going to become a reality in times to come when new entrants go for an aggressive expansion of their retail network. They have already sped up their efforts, commissioning new retail outlets in the past few years. At this stage, for the government oil companies, it is crucial to undertake a concerted effort at cutting down their costs and improving efficiency to effectively counter this challenge. Using information technology for supply chain management, and monitoring the quality and quantity of product can go a long way to improve efficiency and cut down costs. One of the more visible transformations in the retail business of auto fuels is the realization by oil companies that most non fuel activities can also be an important source of revenue ... • 46. Irish Ireland Research Paper Despite the Catholic Irish people making up over 80 percent of the population, they were subjugated to the lower classes to live in squalor. Despite the inherent divide between the Protestant British and Catholic Irish, Ireland was relatively peaceful for the next century, other than a rebellion led by Theobald Wolfe Tone and the United Irishmen in 1798. 30,000 people were killed in this rebellion, which laid the groundwork for the separatist republicanism to come and caused the Act of Union of 1800 to be passed, closing the Irish Parliament in Dublin and giving Protestant London full control over Catholic Ireland. The population quadrupled during the peaceful century from 1740 1840, the economy flourished, Catholics fought for, and gained, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An Irish nationalist paramilitary organization called the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) was established in 1858 and worked for the armed expulsion of the British, where the Home Rule Party worked for the political expulsion. In 1912, the British passed a Home Rule Bill, which gave the Irish political autonomy, but the bill was never enacted due to the breakout of World War I in 1914. In 1913, two organizations, the nationalist Irish Volunteers (IV) and unionist (pro British) Ulster Volunteers (UV) were founded in Dublin and Belfast, respectively, and the IV absorbed the IRB. The two groups were set for a full on conflict before the outbreak of the war, but both sides believed the national question could be answered after WWI and sent men to the trenches. A small, revolutionary minority of the IV stayed behind, as they did not want to fight for the British, these men constituted the IRB, and saw WWI as their time to strike the weakened British. They struck on Easter Sunday in 1916, but were defeated after six days. This became known as the Easter Rising. After the IRB was defeated, 16 of the leaders were taken to Kilmainham Gaol and executed. Executing the leaders of the Rising was England s big mistake as it made them martyrs and gave the Irish the momentum they needed to fight a war of Independence, which began in 1919, and that s where the movie, The Wind that Shakes the Barley, takes ... What interests me about this work is that I thought that this topic or story is deep and hard to get the idea. So, I wanted to know about Alain Robbe Grillet and wanted to get the idea. In this connection, the question that I want to research is who Alain Robbe Grillet is and what is this story about. The novel is set in a small Belgian city, a city with a considerable network of canals and bridges and boulevards that all look the same; throughout the novel, the city becomes a type of labyrinth, adding an ambiguous complexity of space to the novel s non linear chronology. The Erasers is more accessible than his later novels like Jealousy and In The Labyrinth , both penultimate examples of the New Novel. The erratic chronology, suggested symbols, circular repetitions, and stylized description deconstruct time and space in these novels forcing the reader to reconstruct the plot. These writerly texts transport readers to complex fictional, hence illusory, universes. The visual nature of Robbe Grillet s books continue in his later novels, of which the collaborative novel La Belle Captive , a novel written by Robbe Grillet with paintings and illustrations by the surrealist René Margritte, is a perfect example where art informs art and the two mediums color the reading of each other. Recently, in 1995, Robbe Grillet finished a trilogy: a fictional autobiography. Embracing the vogue genre of the autobiography and foregrounding its inherently subjective nature, Robbe Grillet continues to brave the edge of his art in the same spirit of innovation that has marked all his work. Robbe Grillet, he is very good at describing scenes. He describes the room, the victim, and also light and smoke. So, we can imagine what happened in this room even ...
