The Ratio And Profitability Ratio
Profitability Ratio Profitability is important in determining if a company is maximizing wealth
because it measures the efficiency and performance of the overall company functions. It is used
to determine the worth of investment to stocks. There is two type of profitability ratios.
Margins and returns are the profitability ratios. A margin ratio for profitability is cash flow
margin. The formula for cash flow margin is cash flow from operating cash flow/ net sales from
the cash flow statement. The ratios represent the ability to convert sales dollars into profits at a
different point for measurement. Investors, creditors, and manager have the powerful view the
inner workings of Nucor with margin ratio. The higher the percentage the better the performance
by companies. Nucor had an unstable performance level between 2011 to 2015. The best year is
2015 with 4.5%. The worst year is 2012 with .26%. The mean percentage for cash flow margin
for 2011 to 2015 is 1.6% from the growth of operating sales. The sale by Nucor is recycled cash
flow to pay dividends, suppliers, service debt, and invest new capital assets. Nucor could have
problems translating sales into cash if sales are down or operation cost are high. A returns
profitability ratios are cash return on assets. The formula for a cash return on assets is cash flow
from operating activities / total assets. The ratios display the returns being measure on the firm s

Essay On Protein Structure
In this article, it explains how DNA sequence data that researchers had collected from assorted
environments has helped them create 3 D models of more than 600 protein families for structures
that were previously unknown. This led to predictions that before would not have been possible.
Now, it is possible to use computers to create better models of proteinstructures. Biologist can
now build accurate models even if they have no template. Because of the discovery that the
sequence of amino acids determines the way a protein folds, scientist have been investigating
different ways to figure a protein s structure from its sequence. Every protein family has at least
1,000 different proteins in it. The models could cover about over a million of... Show more content

The human genome contains millions of sequences. These sequences are described as transposable
elements, genetic units that jump around the entire genome. These sequences used to be referred to
as junk DNA until they were recognized that they were influencing the expression of genes.
Scientists have combined phylogenetics (the study of evolutionary relationships between different
species) with genomics (the study of how the genome of an organism conditions its biology). From
comparing genomes of 203 vertebrates, they traced the first origin of KZFPs back to a common
ancestor of tetrapods (four legged animals) and coelacanth (a fish that evolved over 400 million
years ago). This helps learn more about its fundamental importance. KZFPs can transform
transposable elements into fine tuned regulatory platforms that influence the expression of genes.
This takes place in stages of development and human tissues. I think that combining phylogenetics
with genomics could help scientist learn and discover more about evolution and how and why they
ve changed. This relates to what we learn about because it talks about proteins and stages of
development and human tissues. It also talks about DNA and how generic elements change.

Biomedical Model
In order to understand the Biomedical model of health and wellbeing, the meaning behind the terms
biomedical, health and wellbeing must be understood. The term biomedical combines both
biological and medical science. It is a term used consistently within health care, that helps portray
the clear links with the biomedical concepts. Bio simply means living, or living organism. Medical
refers to the diagnosis and cure of a disease with the input of science. Healthcan be defined as a
complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
This means that any disturbances that would effect either physical, mental or social well being, will
have possible consequences regarding one s health in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychological and social factors are excluded from this model. Excluding these will improve a
service provider s understanding of an individuals illness, with the only contribution from
biological factors. The main focus of this model is entirely on the individuals health and
wellbeing, seeking to treat/cure them through various applications. Reasons for a disease or
illness are completely unnecessary. This model of care is implemented through health care
professionals as a medical approach. Diseases or illnesses will be approached through diagnosis,
treatment and the possibility of a cure. An example of this could be; x ray, ultrasound, blood tests
and so. The action followed from the diagnostic is known as the treatment. Treatment aims to
improve an individuals health and wellbeing, for example; hospitalisation, surgery, medication,
physiotherapy and so on. To cure an individual means to successfully aid their return to the pre
illness state. The biomedical model has gradually developed and evolved due to the new advances
in technology, as well as other advances in areas like; medical science, increased rates in treatments
and cures. The concept of the biomedical model of health is usually the first thought that arises
when an individual thinks of healthcare. This model informs that no responsibility lies with an
individual who has an illness or disease, as both body and mind function

Hamlet Human Nature Research Paper
Art is, first and foremost, an imitation of life. Human beings create art, be it visual, literary, or
performance, in order to reflect to ends and odds of the day to day; to express the common
emotions of humanity in the hopes of garnering some further substance out of life s mundanely.
With this as a broad goal, artistic works tend to revolve around the theme of human nature;
revealing, exposing, and otherwise illustrating the human condition. William Shakespeare s Hamlet
is no different in this regard. The primary subject within Hamlet is the nature of the human being,
specifically the difference between humans and animals of a lower consciousness. To fully
understand this difference and link human nature with literary meaning , we ... Show more content

Protagonists within art and literature serve as mediums on which audiences can project
themselves onto. This process turns protagonists into heroes , and allows audiences to feel the
courageousness, decisiveness, and selflessness that would be indicative to a hero . However, the
character Hamlet, despite being the protagonist of the work Hamlet, does not exude any of these
aforementioned traits. Hamlet is cowardly, indecisive, and self interested, an overall morally
suspect. Hamlet himself acknowledges his possession of these flaws. Within the first act of the
play, Hamlet learns of his father s murder at the hands of Hamlet s uncle Claudius. The murder of
Hamlet s father and the marriage of his mother, Gertrude, to Claudius are devastating turn of
events; However, Hamlet s reaction to these events comes off as cold and overly dramatized.
Hamlet continuously complains that he is unable to commit suicide because God fix d his canon

his own life. Archetypal heroes are by definition are brave, upstanding, and selfless; yet Hamlet is

Essay Question: What was an influence for Brahms Composition? Examine.
Johannes Brahms was one of the 19th century s greatest composers and one of the leading
musicians of the Romantic era. Brahms, together with Ludwig Van Beethovenand Johann Sebastian
Bach, was considered one of the Three B s of German music. This shows Brahms significance in
German music, as he is one of the symbols of German music. Not only did Brahms compose
German music, but he also composed Hungarian music. This is thought provoking because it was
unusual for a German to compose Hungarian music as well. This essay will be discussing what
made Brahms compose Hungarian gypsy music. Also, Zigeunerlieder Op.103, one of Brahms
pieces that contain the Hungarian gypsy element will be examined.
Born on the 7th of May 1833 in Hamburg, Johannes Brahms was the second child born into the
Lutheran family. He spent most of his professional life in Vienna, Austria. Not only did he compose
works such as symphonies, concerti, chamber music, piano works, ... Show more content on

In 1848, hundreds of Hungarians crowed the streets of his place of birth, Hamburg, to take refuge
from the Hungarian revolution that was taking place in their homeland. Many of them were gypsy
musicians. The gypsy musicians often played Hungarian music that was popular and they played it
however they wanted, in their own ways. They usually played in bands, and most gypsy bands had
an interesting combination of instruments, two violins, a double bass, and the cimbalom, a large
Hungarian dulcimer. Interestingly at times, the bands would add in a clarinet or another woodwind
instrument, which would enrich and add to the radiant and vibrant music. (C.A. Bell and D. Bell

whom was an outsider to the whole town. Throughout her whole life her father turned away any
man who potentially would marry Emily which left her alone after his death. Until Homer Barron
came along Emily had finally found a man. The town did not know Emily was crazy yet. After she
met Homer, the town thought nothing of the events after her father s death. Emily was happy and
not as crazy anymore, or so the town thought that was until Emily died and they found Homer s
dead body in her bed. In the story Falkner states, We did not say she was crazy then. We believed
she had to do that. We remembered all the young men her father had driven away, and

definitively less patient and expect much more out of me. At Smil everyone seems to be more
helpful, understanding and calm. I felt everything was unorganized at the hospitaland the entire

Key Sources Of Dietary Phenolic Compounds
Red beets are one of the pivotal sources of dietary phenolic compounds, including phenolic acids
and flavonoids (). These compounds are secondary metabolites which are essential for the plant
growth and development, provides protection against pathogens and predators and are contributors
of antioxidant, anti microbial, anti inflammatory, anti allergenic, anti thrombotic, anti atherogenic,
cardioprotective and, vasodilatory properties (Balasundram et al., 2006). The total phenolic (TPC)

phenolic content in processed beet products also been studied. The total phenolics compounds in
red beet juice cv. Mona Lisa, Moronia, Redval, Agyptische Plattrunde, Forono, and Bolivar have
been reported to be in the range of 0.85 1.10 g/l (Wruss et al. 2015). Other juices Oksuz et al.
(2015) studied the effect of jam processing on red beet and reported a significant loss of about
49.9% in total phenolics (Oksuz et al., 2015). In a similar manner, TPC values of red beet jam
were found to be 86% lower than fresh sample on dry weight basis, pickled red beet have 25%
less TPC than fresh sample on wet basis and boiled red beet did not have significant effect on fresh
sample (Guldiken et al., 2016). The major drawback of Folin Ciocalteu (FC) method is the ability to
react with the reducing compounds in red beets such as ascorbic acid and nitrogenous substances
especially Dopa (3,4 dihydroxyphenylalanine), thus providing higher values of phenolic compounds
in the extract. Moreover, the main component betanin of red beet is structurally similar to Dopa(3,4
dihydroxyphenylalanine) which may contribute to the higher values using FC spectrometric
estimation (Kugler et al., 2012).

The Poetry of Denise Levertov
Denise Levertov was a unique poet by intertwining mysterious images in her poetry, often
directing the reader towards themes, such as myth and nature (William Doreski 272). Levertov
bases her poetry on immediate or past events in her life. Her father was a descendant of the
founder of the sect Habad Hasidism. She found asceticism and joy in the physical world, though
understanding it in her own way and making her poems have a religious feeling to them. Her
mother introduced her to many Victorian author s, and Levertov wrote to many famous author s
during the time such as T.S Elliot for advice on her poetry (William Doreski 273). While
working as a civilian nurse during WWII, she started writing her first book on poetry and in
1946 was able to publish one of her first great works, The Double Image, which was known by
having a neo Romantic mood of poetry during the time. Now, her poetry is characterized by
defamiliarizing the domestic and natural world as well as emphasizing the essentially private way
is forced to confront otherness (William Doreski 274). Denise Levertovwas born on October
24,1923 in Ilford, England to a Russian Jewish father (William Doreski 273). Her father was a
descendant of the founder of the sect Habad Hasidism, in which some characteristics of the sect
survive in her poetry finding asceticism and joy in the physical world , although understanding it
from her own terms (William Doreski 273). Levertov did not have much formal education but

Desire And Death In The Ignorant By Jacques Ranciere
Desire and death Desire is the necessary condition for self consciousness; we long to know, to be
recognized or simply long to own commodities. Desire is necessary to our being; as we pursue
knowledge we continue to grow and therefore become increasingly conscious of ourselves. Equally,
death is the necessary condition for the evolution of a being and a natural occurrence of progress;
without deathman cannot progress as he remains static. The relation between death and desire
reflects the connection between the struggle of life and death. Desire indicates that the individual is
conscious; furthermore it also reflects the evident opposition between life and death. Death is the
result of nature and fate of human desire; it is a natural and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This minority that Kant describes does not result as a lack of understanding but instead indicates a
lack of courage to step outside of the individual s comfort zone and utilise that understanding
without the direction of a master. Jacques Ranciere suggests that the master s role is to guide;
however, if a master is forced to explain something to their student he is only showing the student
that they are incapable of understanding through their own effort. Jacques Ranciere s students in
The Ignorant School Master, represent the individual s desire to know as they tackle self teaching
due to an evident language barrier leading them to become conscious of their own abilities. Once
the individual is able to utilise their understanding without direction, they have then reached
enlightenment and as Kant states can walk with confidence, knowing they ve learned through their
own efforts. In Hegel s dialectic, the master and the slave are represented as two opposed forms of
consciousness, wherein one exists merely for itself and the latter is dependent on the master and its
existence relies on him. Through pursuing knowledge man moves from ignorance to knowledge, to
seeking knowledge and he does so through experience; death is the condition which allows the
possibility for experience. The significance of moving from depending on a master for instruction to
being able to build your own theories through your own understanding is important to
enlightenment; it ultimately leads the individual to liberation. On the other hand, the individual
that depends on the master for direction is bound to intellectual death because they are unable to
form their own

The Gap Between Energy Consumption And Energy Generation
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND Background
The gap between energy consumption and energy generation is gradually increasing and has
become a significant problem for both domestic and industrial applications. Furthermore,
conventional energy sources, like fossil fuels, are not fulfilling the energy needs of the developing
world. And, although they are still major energy sources for both the industrial and domestic
sectors of the world s economy, they are also responsible for many problem, such as environmental
pollution and climate change. Alternative energy sources are essential for, and the best solution to,

The electrical energy method stores electrical energy with the use of batteries. This method is
generally considered the best, most prevalent technique when compared to others. The thermal
energy storage (TES) method, on the other hand, stores energy by changing the internal energy of
materials. There are three types of thermal energy storage; viz., sensible heat, latent heat, and
thermochemical energy storage. These are illustrated in Figure 1 below [1].
Latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) is a particularly appealing method due to its having a
high energy storage capacity, with it storing 5 to 14 times more heat per unit volume when
compared to the conventional sensible heat storage method. The latent heat storage method is a
system based on the charging and discharging of heat once a given storage material subject changes
phases from liquid to solid or from liquid to gas. Additionally, the latent heat storage system stores
energy at a constant, or near constant, temperature during the process of changing phases which, in
turn, depends on the characteristic structure of the phase change materials (PCMs).
Figure 1. Different types of thermal energy storage methods [2]
The Motivation of this Study
For three decades, many techniques have been used for the purpose of storing latent heat thermal
energy by applying different phase change materials. PCMs. are also known as latent heat storage
materials.

Elizabeth Barrett-Browning and Virginia Woolf Essay
Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Virginia Woolf
I chose to compare and contrast two women authors from different literary time periods.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806 1861) as a representative of the Victorian age (1832 1901) and
Virginia Woolf (1882 1941) as the spokeswoman for the Modernist (1914 1939) mindset. Being
women in historical time periods that did not embrace the talents and gifts of women; they share
many of the same issues and themes throughout their works however, it is the age in which they
wrote that shaped their expressions of these themes. Although they lived only decades apart their
worlds were remarkably different their voices were muted or amplified according to the beat of
society s drum. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Modernist skepticism is vivid in Woolfs portrayal of a woman, Isabella, who has not

her fanciful exploration created for her. Isabella (possibly representative of Virginia herself or of

Marburg Hemorrhagic Fever
Marburg hemorrhagic fever (Marburg HF) is a rare, critical pyrexia which affects both non
human and human primates. Marburg HF results from the Marburg virus, a distinct animal borne
RNA virus apart of the filovirus virus. The only other known member of the filovirus family is
Ebola. The virus was first identified in 1976 when there was an outbreak of the hemorrhagic fever
in the labs of Marburg, Frankfurt, Germany, and Belgrade, Serbia (WHO). Throughout the lab,
thirty one became infected, beginning with the laboratory workers, then followed by other medical
personnel and family members who tried to take care of them. Out of the thirty one people who
were ill, seven deaths were reported (CDC).

Chills and fever result from the body attempting to fight off the virus by raising the body
temperature and killing the virus (Stöppler). The virus also attacks the organism, in which body
aches, headaches, and weakness are all signs of the immune system fighting the virus. Overtime the
symptoms worsen with vomiting, chest pains, coughing, sore throat, and stomach pain for the
same reasons as the weakened immune system. Due to organ failure and hemorrhaging that occur
five days after the fever, there is often bleeding from eyes, ears and nose (Huizen). Symptoms can
also become increasingly severe and may include pancreas inflammation, severe weight loss,
shock, delirium, liver failure, and multi organ dysfunction. People infected appear as though they
are ghost like as they have set, motionless faces and deep set eyes (WHO). Marburg virus has been
found in African monkeys, chimps and other nonhuman primates. The virus is transmitted to
humans through an infected animal s bodily fluids, by blood and waste products. By blood,
people can catch the virus by handling infected animals, and also by those who have operated on an
infected animal and got the disease from them. Through waste products, people can be
contaminated by visiting places that have been infected with organisms that carry the Marburg
virus. In addition, just like what had happened in the first fever outbreak with the few

Racial profiling is common within the Disney films. Where it is most commonly seen is within
movies where two races are mixing, such as in the movie Pocahontas. Disney is not necessarily
discriminating against a race through film, but Disney is making a point of portraying race and
culture through film incorrectly based on stereotypes. Aladdin is an original Disney movie
which brought racial profiling into question. Simply starting with the names of the characters
brings question about race into view. The two most questioned names were Aladdin and Jafaar,
names which were supposed to symbolize the poor Middle Eastern culture, are names that
originally originate from Russia. Also, since this movie was supposed to be in a Middle Eastern
city, the characters all had a dark complexion. The dark complexion was correct on Disney s
part; however, what was incorrect was that all the facial features were European. By having the
incorrect facial features with the dark skin tone it teaches children that they can sort people by
race solely on a person s skin color. Aladdin was portrayed as simply a white man was a dark tan
(Disney s Protrayal of Culture and Race in Film, 2009). Another Disney film which had racial
profiling in it is The Lion King. In The Lion King, white actors played the voices along with
African American actors. The fact that Disney had an interracial cast was good, but the white

The Blue Collar Guys Essay
The Blue Collar Guy
There is a Chinese proverb that says, Those who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt those
doing it. Steve Olson wrote an essay that talks about that very principle. He titled his essay Year
of the Blue Collar Guys . It is about the hard working blue collar guys (BCGs) living in America,
but what was his purpose in writing about BCGs? What kind of modes of persuasion does he use
to persuade his audience to his way of thinking? How does he respond to the opposing side of his
argument, and what kind of logical fallacies does he use?
First and foremost, what is Olson s purpose in Writing Year of the blue collar guy? His purpose is
to convince the working class of America to show recognition to the BCGs. ... Show more content

He uses humor to allow his audience to see just how ridiculous yet still amazing BCGs are. For
example, Olson says, These talkers, are the guys we drove from the playgrounds into the
libraries when we were young and now for twenty years or more now we have endured the
revenge of the nerds . (Paragraph four) Though this statement may not be completely accurate,
Olson wrote it in a way that would seem humorous to most of his audience and, still have a hint of
legitimacy behind it. Olson s use of pathos wasn t as effective towards his overall goal of showing
Americans how critical BCGs are. Though he still got his point across, he could have been more
convincing if he used a more logical approach by simply stating the accomplishments that BCGs
have done in comparison to white collar guys would have been a more convincing argument than
forming it into a humorous comment.
To any perspective on life, there is always an opposing side, and the opposing side Olson brings
up in his essay is that BCGs are not sophisticated enough to receive the kind of recognition they

With an estimated 11.7 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. today, immigration reform has been a
volatile issue that hasn t been adequately addressed throughout the 21st century. With the last major
overhaul occurring in 1986, when over 3 million immigrants were granted U.S. citizenship,
politicians are saying another major overhaul is needed to address the newer generation of illegal
immigrants. Legislations including the Border Protection, Anti terrorism, and Illegal Immigration
Control Act of 2005, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006, and the DREAM act
of 2012 have all tried to address the depressing need for immigration reform but have failed due to
lack of bipartisan support. Still, political leaders urge for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main reasons include the close proximity between the two countries and the vast difference in
the quality of life. For most, getting a job at minimum wage provides a much higher standard of
living from what they came from. They are just looking for better jobs and economics opportunities
to support their families that they cannot find in their home country. The average wage in Mexico
is about $4.15 with those in the agricultural industries making even less. 40% of the Mexican
population is under the poverty line, and 25% of workers are underemployed. With such disastrous
numbers, many Mexicans find the U.S. to be extremely attractive.

spent $186.8 billion on immigration enforcement since 1986 that has not helped keep illegal

Disadvantages Of Salt
Salt is very important in life because without it, every human will be left off with tasteless food.
This essay is going to focus on what is salt, where the salt came from, the benefit and
disadvantage of salt, the reason why humans need salt, why is salt important, how much salt a
person should take, what happens if a person take a small and a big amount of salt amount of salt.
Lastly it will focus on what has been the value of salt down through history, the way how people
view salt now and in the past and the reason why the value of salt has changed. Salt is white
crystalline substance that consists of sodiumand chlorine (Merriam). Salt has been around for
many years now. According to Karen Carr from the article History of salt, salt comes from
northern China, where people seem to have been harvesting salt from a Salt Lake, Lake
Yuncheng, by 6000 BC (Carr). Salt has their benefits and disadvantages. The benefits of salt are
that it put flavors in the food that we eat. Also, it maintain the proper stomach pH. and it improves
sleep qualities (Geertsen, Wodehouse). The disadvantages of salt are that it could be very bad for
people s health because it could lead to high blood pressure (Fleck). The human body is formed of
11 elements that are necessary to function. The 11 elements are Oxygen, Carbon, Hydrogen,
Nitrogen, Calcium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sulfur, Sodium, Chlorine, and Magnesium

Symbolism In Raskolnikov s Nightmare
He had not an instant more to lose. He pulled the axe out completely, swung it with both arms,
scarcely conscious of himself, and almost without effort, almost mechanically, brought the blunt
side down on her head... Then with all his strength he dealt her another and another blow with the
blunt side, and on the same spot (Dostoyevsky 77). Relating the following passage to previous
events in the book, a symbolic connection can be made between the murder to Raskolnikov s
nightmare (55 59). Whenever Raskolnikov is out on a walk, he thinks of disturbing circumstances,
only to come across something beautiful in his eyes. Horses are generally described to be both
majestic and beautiful, which would apply to Raskolnikov s attraction towards them. Horses are

untrusting and unliked by the community (as displayed whenever Raskolnikov was in the bar).

The Benefits Of Social Media In Education
Social media are the most ordinarily used media to connect with the world because of its many
advantages and benefits. Many students are already involved in social networks and using it their
daily activities including educational purposes. Social media have changed the ways of learning
and providing pieces of information on education. It has been used in education nowadays more
than ever and showing beneficial results out of that. Uses of social media are increasing
continuously in education and both students and educators are becoming dependent on it. The
reason behind this is, it is simple to access, effortless to use and easy availability. Among many of
the advantages of social media in education, applying it for communicationpurposes, sharing class
materials, files etc. for classroom projects as well as uses of QR codes are some of the leading ones.
Defining social media is a tricky task to do because of its constant change (Tess, 2013). Ober and

Reaction Paper On Forgiveness
ChapterI
Introduction
Forgiveness
Generally, forgiveness is a decision to let go of resentment and thoughts of revenge. The act that
hurt or offended us always remain a part of our life, but forgiveness can lessen its grip on you and
help you focus on other, more positive parts of your life. Forgiveness can even lead to feelings of
understanding, empathy and compassion for the one who hurt us.
Forgiveness doesn t mean that we deny the other person s responsibility for hurting us, and it doesn
t minimize or justify the wrong. We can forgive the person without excusing the act. Forgiveness is
a process that involves a change in emotion and attitude regarding an offender. Most scholars view
this an intentional and voluntary process, driven by a deliberate decision to forgive. Theorists
differ in the extent to which they believe forgiveness also implies replacing the negative emotions
with positive attitudes including compassion and benevolence. In any event, forgiveness occurs
with the victim s full recognition that he or she deserved better treatment, one reason why Mahatma
Gandhi contended that the weak can never forgive. Adapted from Philpot, C. (2006). Intergroup

Iraq Dishes
All around the world there are distinct cultures that have a variety of cuisines and techniques for
preparing them. This paper will discuss in depth two different dishes that come from different
regions and how its sustainability impacts its social cultural resilience. Baghdad, Iraq and Gaza,
Palestine both deal with political and environment factors that impact their dishes, but sustainability
in Gaza is less complex because its dish ingredients are not harm by governmental regulations and
its geography provides a vast range of arable land.
First, in The Gaza Kitchen by Laila El Haddad Maggie Schmitt, they both illustrate different
Gaza dishes that range from simple to elaborate. In this case, the focus is bread, it is not a meal but
it is used to eat dishes or can be simply eaten by itself. Khubz Kmaj is, the standard Palestinian

It has never been easier to build a long distance relationship or friendship, but all this power at our
fingertips does come with some drawbacks. The definition of the word friend has changed a lot
since the introduction of Facebook in 2004. Some people seems to believe that being friends in
social media translate to friendship in real life. Being friends on social media usually just mean
that you guys are somehow connected according to the six degrees of separation theory,
everyone on earth are connected in six round of introduction or less. Which is not surprising
considering that most of our friend list on Facebook is filled with strangers or acquaintances.
Having 700 friends on Facebook does not mean anything and people wouldn t show up to a

Thematic content analysis was used in order to be able to draw conclusions from the qualitative
data from the interviews and document review (DeSantis Noel Ugarriza, 2000). Qualitative
content analysis is defined as: a research method for the subjective interpretation of the content
of text data through the systematic classification process of coding and identifying themes or
patterns (Hsieh Shannon, 2005, p.1278). This means that the data input is evaluated to search
for patterns that extend across the data and coded into categories in order to develop data
interpretations (Vaismoradi, Turunen, Bondas, 2013). For this purpose ATLAS.ti was used to
analyse the qualitative data findings. Codes were first prepared in accordance with the
theoretical framework (for this framework see Appendix B) (Braun Clarke, 2006). ATLAS.ti
was used for assigning open codes as well as to create coding memos. Codes and themes were
analysed and related to theory formulation (see Appendix C for the code book that was used in
ATLAS.ti) (for a review and practical guide to using qualitative data analysis see Hwang, 2008).
For each code, an output was created. This output consists of a file in which all the quotations of a

Reflection Of Jose Rizal Play
The play was not what I expected. The characters, the plot surpassed my expectations. The play

different from any other. It is a different experience when you saw the events straight out from
your history book and I was caught off guard with the experience presented to me by this play.
And, when the audience left the hall, each one of them brought home different life lessons and

U.s. Constitution And American Public Policy
America has come up with this predefined set of rules that everyone in our society must follow,
Laws. Laws have been thoroughly discussed and picked to assure that the nation runs smoothly.
Americans have their rights to certain aspects of life, but most of which are violated or misused
by court officials or government officials. Many years ago, people decided they would find a
way to govern America. They formed the U.S. Constitution, a form of government like no other
by the people, of the people, and for the people. With The Constitution in effect, laws had to be
made. American Public Policy explains how American Law in American Courts worked and why
those laws were implemented. Americans have their constitutional rights which were not limited,
but government officials always abused their power and tried taking the rights that we as
American citizens have away. Those rights included: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion,
Freedom of the Press, Due Process, Right to Privacy, and Right to Keep and Bear Arms. The goal
of all state courts was: no U.S. Citizen or resident should be denied liberties, rights and privileges
guaranteed in our constitutional republic. The American law for the courts are needed to protect
women and children because both are commonly known to be discriminated against. American laws
are being promoted because the government wants to preserve the liberties of Americans.

How Did The Maccabees Influence The Jewish
The Jews shifted their allegiance to Alexander and in return Alexander allowed the Jews to
observe their own laws, gave them exemption from tribute tax during the Sabbath years.
Alexander also encouraged the Jewish people to live in Alexandria, Egypt and gave them
privileges reserved for his own Greek people. When Alexander died in 323 B. C., some of his
generals divided the empire among themselves: The Ptolemies of Egypt, the Seleucids of Persia and
parts of Asia Minor, and the Antigonids of Macedon. (Intertestamental Period New Testament
Background, 2001).
At first, the Egyptian Ptolemaic Empire controlled the Jews from 320 198 B. C., and then Seleucid
(Syrian) Empire, around 198 B. C., acquired control over the Jewish populace. While the
Ptolemaic Empire was tolerant of the Jewish culture and religion, the Seleucid Empire was not.
The Seleucids made determined efforts to force Hellenism on the Jews. Some accepted it, but most
did not (Halley, 2000). The Greek Seleucid, Antiochus, severely punished the unaccepting Jews
which eventually provoked the Maccabees (Hasmonean Era) to revolt. By 164 B. C., the
Maccabees controlled the area around Jerusalem and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Blind Faith In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
By putting faith to the test Nathaniel Hawthorne points out in Young Goodman Brown that relying
entirely on it as a mean of salvation is questionable, if not wrong. Perhaps Hawthorne wants to
point out that religion and faith has two sides, and that one side could lead to a miserable existence
led by blind faith. By using nature in the setting Hawthorne points out that our moral compass can
be challenged around every corner.
Goodman Brown is the representation of the common man. He sets out on his errand knowing that
he will be confronted with a test of some sort. He is naГЇve and determined that after this journey
he will return unscathed and able to follow his wife to heaven. During his journey he becomes more

He even acknowledges this when goody Cloyse is touched by his staff. This explains how he is
able to travel at unnatural speed and his serpentine staff. The traveller tells goodman Brown that
he has been with every puritan, even goodman Browns father and grandfather, meaning he has
been able to corrupt them all. Goodman Brown resembles the traveller and it could be that the
traveller is in fact the evil personification of him self or his father. He was with goodman Brown s
grandfather when he whipped a Quaker woman in the streets of Salem. The witches presence and
the travellers mentioning of his forefathers could be Hawthorne s way of referencing terrible
historic events and making the reader reflect on past events.
Goodman Brown s wife Faith, as the narrator tells us, is aptly named for this story. She is the

goodman Brown s travel through the thick forest and becomes a constant reminder of her presence
in goodman Browns mind. She does not have much depth in the story, but seems to be the loving

it is pertinent to today s political debates about class and social mobility. So, let us now praise an
insufficiently famous man, sociologist James Coleman, author of the study Equality of Educational
Opportunity. In 1966, postwar liberalism s confidence reached its apogee. From 1938, when the

Reflection Paper On Healing And Deliverance
Healing and Deliverance
I began by saying Healing and Deliverance, often avoided, but necessary. Introspection is the first
step towards healing and deliverance. M y personal views and description of healing and
deliverance stem from my own experiences and the experiences I have witnessed. Healing is a
process that does not happen overnight. It is when something has left a painful memory or visible
sore that requires attention. Time tends to heal pain, but pain can take years for a cure. Healing
requires constant attention to the areas where the brokenness, pain and hurting remains. I
remember falling off of a set of stairs and twisting my ankle. My ankle became extremely
swollen to the point where I could not walk. I had to literally crawl to the restroom and back into
my room. I thought it was a minor sprain, but it turned out to be a major fracture. The pain at
times was extreme and required close attention. In order to begin the healing process, I had to
face the pain and provide constant care in order for healing to begin to settle in. I had to use
different techniques that include soaking, medicating and wrapping my ankle to reduce the
swelling. I had to be extremely careful not to apply too much pressure to my ankle which required
me to keep my ankle elevated and apply ice. After a period of time my ankle was healed and I was
able to walk again without bearing any pain.
I shared the example of my ankle to connect this analogy with how we experience and deal with
pain and go through the process of deliverance. I believe our greatest pain comes when something
is taken from us like the death of a close loved one or tragedy that leaves a scar or memory that we
will never forget.
Pain hurts and generates different types of emotions and behaviors that can destroy our
character and peace of mind if we are not careful. Have you ever had a painful experience that

A Day Keeps The Cancer Away
Death. It s probably one of the things we are most afraid of. We re scared of losing our loved
ones. We re scared of leaving the ones we care most about alone. Unfortunately, death isn t
something that we can control. However, we can prolong it for as much as possible. We all
know the saying, An apple a day keeps the doctor away , but what if I said, Less bacon a day
keeps the cancer away . If you aren t up to date, author, Jeffrey Kluger, has recently released an
article in TIME Magazine that ultimately talks about how bacon and other meats could be held
responsible for causing cancer, specifically colorectal cancer (2015). America s favorite
breakfast food, bacon, seems to be a prime suspect in this case. However, bacon isn t alone in
this. Hot dogs and other red meats are under suspicion as well. So what can we do? Well, we could
go cold turkey, but that doesn t solve anything. Instead, we need to be smarter about the decisions
we make when eating our meat, in order for us to live a healthier lifestyle. Although I m in no
position to tell you what you should do and shouldn t do, that doesn t mean I can t give you a
couple of tips. Before going into detail about what tips I can give you, first let s understand why
we should be smarter about the meat we eat. According to Kluger, In the case of processed meats,
the biggest risks are sodium nitrates, which are added to foods principally as preservatives. Once
they enter the body, however, they form nitrosamines, chemical

Stereotypes In Watership Down By Richard Adams
(Interesting title at work) (Attention grabbing quote at work). Watership Down by Richard
Adams is a timeless tale told from multiple perspectives within a group of rabbits venturing into
the unknown in hopes of finding a new home. With great leadership and an unique ability shared
between a pair of brothers, the band of rabbits come upon new lands to call home. Hazel, brother
of Fiver and leader of the herd of rabbits, goes through many different personal changes as a
rabbit, from being a clueless individual momentarily leading the bunch, to having a taste of
success and falling arrogant in hopes of impressing the others, and then finally knowing his
place and being a trusted and respected leader as Chief Rabbit. The first trait of Hazel shown in
the early stages of the plot is his cluelessness. In the very opening scene, Fiver alerts Hazel in a
panic that a great danger is to come over the Sandleford Warren. Without any evidence or proof,
except for the minor fact that Fiver s past predictions have been found truthful, Hazel goes to The
Threarah with Fiver to inform him of this impending threat. Well, sir, said Hazel rather hesitantly, it

Emile Durkheim s View Of Religion
There are a numerous amount of different perspectives when concerning religions and myths. One
example is Emile Durkheim whose perspective of religion was that it was a social component of
human beings. He suggested that people got their regions ideas, were taught how to carry out their
rituals and developed their ideals as a result of their socialization. He believed that there were no
false religions and added that religionquite dominated over its followers and made them dependent
on it.
Durkheim tried to distinguish between religion and magic. He suggested that religious or sacred
things are special and that commonplace things are profane. Magic rituals he claimed were just
social events. Religious ideas were created while rituals were being performed causing many
emotional participates to feel the presence of unseen beings among them, which was Durkheim s
idea of a sacred world. Durkheim stated that there is no church of magic and that there was no
lasting bond between the magician and his audience. A church binds the group together and a moral
community because participates believe in the same god or participate in the same cult. ... Show

Edward Tylor an English Scholar, defined religion as the belief in spiritual beings. He offered
the theory that these beliefs came from dreams and that the dreamer was somewhere between
the living and the dead. He suggested this is where the idea of souls originated. This evolved
into the beliefs of spirits which needed scarifies. This would cause the spirits to grant favors to
the ones performing the sacrifices. The sacrifices then became rituals. Tylor believes that science
would cause religion to disappear. This in effect caused polytheism to be born. If it was not for
polytheism, monotheism would not have been developed. Tylor s theory was that if society

How The Cold War Changed The Emergence Of Marvel Comics
The Superhero comics and storylines has always been an integral part of the world s cultural
history and the combination of historical events with fantasy themes has made them irresistible to
comic book readers of various generations.
Starting from the Great Depression in Europe, characters like Superman and Batman laid the
foundation for the liberal superhero tradition which is still prevalent. That was followed by the
Second World War where the superheroes assumed far greater roles the fighter for their country
and a source of inspiration for the Americans back home. This was also the beginning of patriotic
propaganda in the storylines which became a trend in the wartime editions of major superhero
comic books.
The end of World War II was not good news for the publishers as it served as their primary
storyline for a very long time, and as a result, the focus shifted to horror stories which were
designed to appeal to the more mature audience. But, the beginning of the Cold War saw an attack
against the comic book industry by Dr. Fredric Wertham and the United States government on the

The stories were created to depict the tension and political struggle of the on going Cold War
which was reflected through the anxiety of the superheroes for their country. This era was also
famous for the introduction of the flawed superheroes who were much more human and as a result,
more relatable to the general audience. The storylines were not only restricted to large than life
characters and as a result, a lot of social issues were captured by the artists of this generation
through the comic books. Thus, established superheroes like Batman and Green Lantern started
tackling social issues like gang violence and drugs where were considered to be taboo till that

Newton And Seurat Research Paper
The world that we live in is constantly innovating new ideas and methods to benefit the lives of
many. It is a fascinating opportunity to reflect on all the inventions that have been made throughout
each of our lifetimes. Two very important individuals that shaped the world we live in today is Sir
Isaac Newton and Georges Pierre Seurat.
Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician and physicist. There is a theory that Newton
discovered gravity when he saw a falling apple. Supposedly, when he was observing the apple he
was also thinking about the forces of nature. Newton realized that some force must be acting on
falling objects like apples because otherwise they would not start moving from rest. Newton also
realized that the moon would fly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, when you stand on something soft, the object caves in or is pushed down. This is the
reaction of one s force on the soft object, and the soft object s reaction to one standing on it.Seurat
painted the La Grande Jatte in three distinct stages. In the first stage, which was started in 1884,
Seurat mixed his paints from several individual pigments and was still using dull earth pigments
such as ochre or burnt sienna. In the second stage, during 1885 and 1886, Seurat dispensed with the
earth pigments and also limited the number of individual pigments in his paints. This change in
Seurat s palette was due to his application of the advanced color theories of his time. His intention
was to paint small dots or strokes of pure color that would then mix on the retina of the beholder to
achieve the desired color impression instead of the usual practice of mixing individual
pigments.Seurat s palette consisted of the usual pigments of his time such as cobalt blue, emerald
green and vermilion. Additionally, Seurat used then new pigment zinc yellow (zinc chromate),
predominantly for yellow highlights in the sunlit grass in the middle of the painting but also in
mixtures with orange and blue pigments. In the century and

Readiness To Collaborate Scale (PCA)
The proposed study will employ a quantitative survey design approach that will set out to validate a
new scale; the Readiness to Collaborate Scale. This study will focus on validation and internal
consistency through the use of Principal Components Analysis (PCA) and Chronbach s Alpha
(CA). This study will not be testing for reliability. In order to test for test retest reliability, two
assumptions are required. The first is that the characteristic being measured, in this case readiness to
collaborate does not change over the time period, which, for respondents taking the survey, it may,
due to entering into a team prior to the next test. The second assumption is that the time between
each test is sufficient enough that respondents do not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

readiness for individual practitioners to enter into interprofessional collaborative teams. This study

Summary Of The Departure The Arrival
Lubna Warawra s The Departure The Arrival, and Nila Somaia Carten s February 1, 1992, from
When Your Voice Tastes Like Home: Immigrant Women Write, are short stories written in first
person that describe the author s journey immigrating to Canada. The women face many challenges
immigrating, such as the pain of leaving behind their families, and loved ones. Warawra writes
about her experience immigrating to Torontofrom the West (Western) Banks of war torn Palestine

a better life. Both stories employ symbolism to accentuate the struggles of migrating to a new

At this moment she realizes that her oud is a symbol of her being Arab, and an object that illustrates
to her that she does not belong; she is an outsider. While reminiscing the longest sunset in [her] life,
(12) Warawra recalls the conversation she had with her mother about sunsets and sunrises. Although
her mother prefers sunrise, Warawra enjoys the sunset. She deems the sunset is a start of a new
night, and a preparation for another sunrise, (12). This symbolizes her immigration to Canada being
a new step in her life; the sunrise to come. In February 1, 1992, by Nila Somaia Carten, Somaia
Carten also symbolizes her conflicts in immigrating, more so with objects than words. On her
flight to Vancouver, Somaia Carten is very nervous about her immigration. Her sweaty palms
represent the nervousness she feels anticipating the landing of the plane, the palms of my hands
are sweaty [...] I anxiously wipe them on my jeans, (19). Due to this nervousness she finds
herself doubting her decision, I worry that I am making the biggest mistake of my life, (19) and
apprehensively asking herself will I find a job? Will I find a place to stay? (19). Her uneasiness
asserts how difficult it is for her to make the decision to leave her comfort zone and immigrate to
Canada. Unlike Warawra, Somaia Carten is not fleeing a war zone. Comparable to Warawra,
Somaia Carten also lays emphasize on her immigration papers, I don t believe words will

The Little Bison River flows from small glaciers in the high cirques of the Rocky Mountains
east to the Great Plains of North America, where it ultimately joins the Missouri system. The
valley through the Rockies contains a few small towns which are supported by the ski industry
and tourism. Recently, extensive natural gas deposits have been discovered in the area, and
salvage archaeology projects have been funded to assess the nature of archaeological resources
prior to the construction of pipelines, access roads, and well heads. You have been asked to

Rock suitable for the production of stone tools is fOW1don every mountain range, and in creek

conducted extensive judgemental surveys during initial impact assessment, concentrating on the
grasslands of the Little Bison valley, two arbitrarily chosen tributary valleys (Cripple Creek and
Silver Creek), one cirque (below Smith Peak) and the Inverness Plateau. Four site types were
defined. Camp sites contain a wide range of artifact types and fire broken rock. Kill sites contain a
restricted range of artifacts (mainly projectile points) and large quantities of bone. Lithic scatters
are small sites with no diagnostic artifacts. Quarries have large quantities of debitage, usually
associated with shallow pits dug into bedrock. The distribution of sites and diagnostic artifacts is
shown in Figure 8.1. Recently R. Bootheel undertook a survey of the area using random sampling
techniques. Although her M.A. thesis is still being written, she has commented on the previous

Ted Bundy, Dennis Raider, And The Zodiac Killer
Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Dennis Raider, and the Zodiac Killer; All of these men are real life
examples of cold blooded killers that walked free for many years. They grew up in communities,
attended schools, they drove the same roads you and I do, and they may have even appeared to
some as normal. Serial killers live amongst us today, many are not suspected by their neighbors,
friends, or family, until the day they make a fatal error leading to their arrest, and for some, they
may never be caught. With this being said, it really makes an average person ask themselves,
what is going on in a killers head? Or the even bigger question is, how did they become that way?
Are these killers products of their environment (nurture), or a product of their biological make
up (nature)? It is important to define the terms environment and heredity, as so they are not
ambiguous. Environment is defined as the circumstances by which one is surrounded.
Hereditary is defined as being based on inheritance, generally in the sense of genetics, which is
our biological makeup. Are serial killers more prone to kill out of the various factors of their
independent lives? Or are they more prone to kill due to the natural circumstances of their genes
passed from their ancestors? I believe serial killers genetic nature (heredity) is the largest
contributing factor to their desire to kill. In this essay I am going to review how serial killers
possess low orbital cortex activity, and the MAOA gene. I

Narrative Essay About Becoming A Family
Becoming a Family It was the first day of high school, a new school, and a new town. The only
class I was looking forward to was band. I knew band was the same no matter where I was. Little
did I know that I was not just joining a band I was joining a family.
The first couple of days I got to know a lot of my classmates, started making friends, and really
got to know my director. Most of the kids had him since they were in grade school, so I was out
of the loop with current events in his life. After the first month or so I found out that his wife had
had cancer and she had just been diagnosed with it again. So just as every high school band, the first
semester was marching band. With marching band, you have competitions. It was not long before
we were all on board helping him through this rough time. At the first competition we all had
pinned white cancer ribbons on our uniforms before we get on the field. I remember looking at
him when he saw us and just him tearing up and telling us how much he loved us. So, we
decided on red hearts to be sown on the uniforms permanently. I also remember before a home
football game we had a prayer circle for them because it had gotten worse, and little did we know
one of the moms had taken a video of us and sent it to him. After that he knew that he could lean on
all of us to help him.
A couple months after marching band and Christmas was over, she passed away. It was hard for all
of us because we all loved and cared about him, and we

  • 2. The Ratio And Profitability Ratio Profitability Ratio Profitability is important in determining if a company is maximizing wealth because it measures the efficiency and performance of the overall company functions. It is used to determine the worth of investment to stocks. There is two type of profitability ratios. Margins and returns are the profitability ratios. A margin ratio for profitability is cash flow margin. The formula for cash flow margin is cash flow from operating cash flow/ net sales from the cash flow statement. The ratios represent the ability to convert sales dollars into profits at a different point for measurement. Investors, creditors, and manager have the powerful view the inner workings of Nucor with margin ratio. The higher the percentage the better the performance by companies. Nucor had an unstable performance level between 2011 to 2015. The best year is 2015 with 4.5%. The worst year is 2012 with .26%. The mean percentage for cash flow margin for 2011 to 2015 is 1.6% from the growth of operating sales. The sale by Nucor is recycled cash flow to pay dividends, suppliers, service debt, and invest new capital assets. Nucor could have problems translating sales into cash if sales are down or operation cost are high. A returns profitability ratios are cash return on assets. • 3. Essay On Protein Structure In this article, it explains how DNA sequence data that researchers had collected from assorted environments has helped them create 3 D models of more than 600 protein families for structures that were previously unknown. This led to predictions that before would not have been possible. Now, it is possible to use computers to create better models of proteinstructures. Biologist can now build accurate models even if they have no template. Because of the discovery that the sequence of amino acids determines the way a protein folds, scientist have been investigating different ways to figure a protein s structure from its sequence. Every protein family has at least 1,000 different proteins in it. The models could cover about over a million of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The human genome contains millions of sequences. These sequences are described as transposable elements, genetic units that jump around the entire genome. These sequences used to be referred to as junk DNA until they were recognized that they were influencing the expression of genes. Scientists have combined phylogenetics (the study of evolutionary relationships between different species) with genomics (the study of how the genome of an organism conditions its biology). From comparing genomes of 203 vertebrates, they traced the first origin of KZFPs back to a common ancestor of tetrapods (four legged animals) and coelacanth (a fish that evolved over 400 million years ago). This helps learn more about its fundamental importance. KZFPs can transform transposable elements into fine tuned regulatory platforms that influence the expression of genes. This takes place in stages of development and human tissues. I think that combining phylogenetics with genomics could help scientist learn and discover more about evolution and how and why they ve changed. This relates to what we learn about because it talks about proteins and stages of development and human tissues. It also talks about DNA and how generic elements change. 3) Plant cells survive but stop dividing upon DNA damage https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases /2017/10/171006101817.htm Nara Institute of Science and Technology (No author) Science Daily October 6, 2017 In this article, it talks about the cell ... • 4. Biomedical Model In order to understand the Biomedical model of health and wellbeing, the meaning behind the terms biomedical, health and wellbeing must be understood. The term biomedical combines both biological and medical science. It is a term used consistently within health care, that helps portray the clear links with the biomedical concepts. Bio simply means living, or living organism. Medical refers to the diagnosis and cure of a disease with the input of science. Healthcan be defined as a complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. This means that any disturbances that would effect either physical, mental or social well being, will have possible consequences regarding one s health in the... Excluding these will improve a service provider s understanding of an individuals illness, with the only contribution from biological factors. The main focus of this model is entirely on the individuals health and wellbeing, seeking to treat/cure them through various applications. Reasons for a disease or illness are completely unnecessary. This model of care is implemented through health care professionals as a medical approach. Diseases or illnesses will be approached through diagnosis, treatment and the possibility of a cure. An example of this could be; x ray, ultrasound, blood tests and so. The action followed from the diagnostic is known as the treatment. Treatment aims to improve an individuals health and wellbeing, for example; hospitalisation, surgery, medication, physiotherapy and so on. To cure an individual means to successfully aid their return to the pre illness state. The biomedical model has gradually developed and evolved due to the new advances in technology, as well as other advances in areas like; medical science, increased rates in treatments and cures. The concept of the biomedical model of health is usually the first thought that arises when an individual thinks of healthcare. This model informs that no responsibility lies with an individual who has an illness or disease, as both body and mind function ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Hamlet Human Nature Research Paper Art is, first and foremost, an imitation of life. Human beings create art, be it visual, literary, or performance, in order to reflect to ends and odds of the day to day; to express the common emotions of humanity in the hopes of garnering some further substance out of life s mundanely. With this as a broad goal, artistic works tend to revolve around the theme of human nature; revealing, exposing, and otherwise illustrating the human condition. William Shakespeare s Hamlet is no different in this regard. The primary subject within Hamlet is the nature of the human being, specifically the difference between humans and animals of a lower consciousness. Hamlet is cowardly, indecisive, and self interested, an overall morally suspect. Hamlet himself acknowledges his possession of these flaws. Within the first act of the play, Hamlet learns of his father s murder at the hands of Hamlet s uncle Claudius. The murder of Hamlet s father and the marriage of his mother, Gertrude, to Claudius are devastating turn of events; However, Hamlet s reaction to these events comes off as cold and overly dramatized. Johannes Brahms was one of the 19th century s greatest composers and one of the leading musicians of the Romantic era. Brahms, together with Ludwig Van Beethovenand Johann Sebastian Bach, was considered one of the Three B s of German music. This shows Brahms significance in German music, as he is one of the symbols of German music. Not only did Brahms compose German music, but he also composed Hungarian music. This is thought provoking because it was unusual for a German to compose Hungarian music as well. This essay will be discussing what made Brahms compose Hungarian gypsy music. Also, Zigeunerlieder Op.103, one of Brahms pieces that contain the Hungarian gypsy element will be examined. They usually played in bands, and most gypsy bands had an interesting combination of instruments, two violins, a double bass, and the cimbalom, a large Hungarian dulcimer. In a similar manner, TPC values of red beet jam were found to be 86% lower than fresh sample on dry weight basis, pickled red beet have 25% less TPC than fresh sample on wet basis and boiled red beet did not have significant effect on fresh sample (Guldiken et al., 2016). The major drawback of Folin Ciocalteu (FC) method is the ability to react with the reducing compounds in red beets such as ascorbic acid and nitrogenous substances especially Dopa (3,4 dihydroxyphenylalanine), thus providing higher values of phenolic compounds in the extract. Moreover, the main component betanin of red beet is structurally similar to Dopa(3,4 dihydroxyphenylalanine) which may contribute to the higher values using FC spectrometric estimation (Kugler et al., 2012). ... The Poetry of Denise Levertov Denise Levertov was a unique poet by intertwining mysterious images in her poetry, often directing the reader towards themes, such as myth and nature (William Doreski 272). Levertov bases her poetry on immediate or past events in her life. Her father was a descendant of the founder of the sect Habad Hasidism. She found asceticism and joy in the physical world, though understanding it in her own way and making her poems have a religious feeling to them. Her mother introduced her to many Victorian author s, and Levertov wrote to many famous author s during the time such as T.S Elliot for advice on her poetry (William Doreski 273). While working as a civilian nurse during WWII, she started writing her first book on poetry and in 1946 was able to publish one of her first great works, The Double Image, which was known by having a neo Romantic mood of poetry during the time. Now, her poetry is characterized by defamiliarizing the domestic and natural world as well as emphasizing the essentially private way is forced to confront otherness (William Doreski 274). • 12. Desire And Death In The Ignorant By Jacques Ranciere Desire and death Desire is the necessary condition for self consciousness; we long to know, to be recognized or simply long to own commodities. Desire is necessary to our being; as we pursue knowledge we continue to grow and therefore become increasingly conscious of ourselves. Equally, death is the necessary condition for the evolution of a being and a natural occurrence of progress; without deathman cannot progress as he remains static. The relation between death and desire reflects the connection between the struggle of life and death. Desire indicates that the individual is conscious; furthermore it also reflects the evident opposition between life and death. This minority that Kant describes does not result as a lack of understanding but instead indicates a lack of courage to step outside of the individual s comfort zone and utilise that understanding without the direction of a master. Jacques Ranciere suggests that the master s role is to guide; however, if a master is forced to explain something to their student he is only showing the student that they are incapable of understanding through their own effort. Jacques Ranciere s students in The Ignorant School Master, represent the individual s desire to know as they tackle self teaching due to an evident language barrier leading them to become conscious of their own abilities. Once the individual is able to utilise their understanding without direction, they have then reached enlightenment and as Kant states can walk with confidence, knowing they ve learned through their own efforts. In Hegel s dialectic, the master and the slave are represented as two opposed forms of consciousness, wherein one exists merely for itself and the latter is dependent on the master and its existence relies on him. Through pursuing knowledge man moves from ignorance to knowledge, to seeking knowledge and he does so through experience; death is the condition which allows the possibility for experience. The significance of moving from depending on a master for instruction to being able to build your own theories through your own understanding is important to enlightenment; it ultimately leads the individual to liberation. On the other hand, the individual that depends on the master for direction is bound to intellectual death because they are unable to form their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This method is generally considered the best, most prevalent technique when compared to others. The thermal energy storage (TES) method, on the other hand, stores energy by changing the internal energy of materials. There are three types of thermal energy storage; viz., sensible heat, latent heat, and thermochemical energy storage. These are illustrated in Figure 1 below [1]. Latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) is a particularly appealing method due to its having a high energy storage capacity, with it storing 5 to 14 times more heat per unit volume when compared to the conventional sensible heat storage method. The latent heat storage method is a system based on the charging and discharging of heat once a given storage material subject changes phases from liquid to solid or from liquid to gas. Additionally, the latent heat storage system stores energy at a constant, or near constant, temperature during the process of changing phases which, in turn, depends on the characteristic structure of the phase change materials (PCMs). • 17. Marburg Hemorrhagic Fever Marburg hemorrhagic fever (Marburg HF) is a rare, critical pyrexia which affects both non human and human primates. Marburg HF results from the Marburg virus, a distinct animal borne RNA virus apart of the filovirus virus. The only other known member of the filovirus family is Ebola. The virus was first identified in 1976 when there was an outbreak of the hemorrhagic fever in the labs of Marburg, Frankfurt, Germany, and Belgrade, Serbia (WHO). Throughout the lab, thirty one became infected, beginning with the laboratory workers, then followed by other medical personnel and family members who tried to take care of them. Chills and fever result from the body attempting to fight off the virus by raising the body temperature and killing the virus (StГ¶ppler). The virus also attacks the organism, in which body aches, headaches, and weakness are all signs of the immune system fighting the virus. Overtime the symptoms worsen with vomiting, chest pains, coughing, sore throat, and stomach pain for the same reasons as the weakened immune system. Due to organ failure and hemorrhaging that occur five days after the fever, there is often bleeding from eyes, ears and nose (Huizen). Symptoms can also become increasingly severe and may include pancreas inflammation, severe weight loss, shock, delirium, liver failure, and multi organ dysfunction. People infected appear as though they are ghost like as they have set, motionless faces and deep set eyes (WHO). Marburg virus has been found in African monkeys, chimps and other nonhuman primates. The virus is transmitted to humans through an infected animal s bodily fluids, by blood and waste products. By blood, people can catch the virus by handling infected animals, and also by those who have operated on an infected animal and got the disease from them. Through waste products, people can be contaminated by visiting places that have been infected with organisms that carry the Marburg virus. Racial profiling is common within the Disney films. Where it is most commonly seen is within movies where two races are mixing, such as in the movie Pocahontas. Disney is not necessarily discriminating against a race through film, but Disney is making a point of portraying race and culture through film incorrectly based on stereotypes. Aladdin is an original Disney movie which brought racial profiling into question. Simply starting with the names of the characters brings question about race into view. The two most questioned names were Aladdin and Jafaar, names which were supposed to symbolize the poor Middle Eastern culture, are names that originally originate from Russia. Also, since this movie was supposed to be in a Middle Eastern city, the characters all had a dark complexion. The dark complexion was correct on Disney s part; however, what was incorrect was that all the facial features were European. By having the incorrect facial features with the dark skin tone it teaches children that they can sort people by race solely on a person s skin color. Aladdin was portrayed as simply a white man was a dark tan (Disney s Protrayal of Culture and Race in Film, 2009). Another Disney film which had racial profiling in it is The Lion King. Steve Olson wrote an essay that talks about that very principle. He titled his essay Year of the Blue Collar Guys . It is about the hard working blue collar guys (BCGs) living in America, but what was his purpose in writing about BCGs? What kind of modes of persuasion does he use to persuade his audience to his way of thinking? How does he respond to the opposing side of his argument, and what kind of logical fallacies does he use? For example, Olson says, These talkers, are the guys we drove from the playgrounds into the libraries when we were young and now for twenty years or more now we have endured the revenge of the nerds . (Paragraph four) Though this statement may not be completely accurate, Olson wrote it in a way that would seem humorous to most of his audience and, still have a hint of legitimacy behind it. Olson s use of pathos wasn t as effective towards his overall goal of showing Americans how critical BCGs are. Though he still got his point across, he could have been more convincing if he used a more logical approach by simply stating the accomplishments that BCGs have done in comparison to white collar guys would have been a more convincing argument than forming it into a humorous comment. To any perspective on life, there is always an opposing side, and the opposing side Olson brings up in his essay is that BCGs are not sophisticated enough to receive the kind of recognition they want. He states that BCGs have been portrayed as beer drinking, big bellied, bigoted, rednecks who dress badly . (Paragraph 1) Most people would respond by shooting insults back towards whoever said that. Olson chooses another approach, surprisingly, he agrees with them. He takes what they say and laughs at it. After he brings up these insults, Olson continues by saying, ... The act that hurt or offended us always remain a part of our life, but forgiveness can lessen its grip on you and help you focus on other, more positive parts of your life. Forgiveness can even lead to feelings of understanding, empathy and compassion for the one who hurt us. Forgiveness doesn t mean that we deny the other person s responsibility for hurting us, and it doesn t minimize or justify the wrong. We can forgive the person without excusing the act. Forgiveness is a process that involves a change in emotion and attitude regarding an offender. Most scholars view this an intentional and voluntary process, driven by a deliberate decision to forgive. Theorists differ in the extent to which they believe forgiveness also implies replacing the negative emotions with positive attitudes including compassion and benevolence. • 36. Blind Faith In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown By putting faith to the test Nathaniel Hawthorne points out in Young Goodman Brown that relying entirely on it as a mean of salvation is questionable, if not wrong. Perhaps Hawthorne wants to point out that religion and faith has two sides, and that one side could lead to a miserable existence led by blind faith. By using nature in the setting Hawthorne points out that our moral compass can be challenged around every corner. Goodman Brown is the representation of the common man. He sets out on his errand knowing that he will be confronted with a test of some sort. Goodman Brown resembles the traveller and it could be that the traveller is in fact the evil personification of him self or his father. He was with goodman Brown s grandfather when he whipped a Quaker woman in the streets of Salem. The witches presence and the travellers mentioning of his forefathers could be Hawthorne s way of referencing terrible historic events and making the reader reflect on past events. Goodman Brown s wife Faith, as the narrator tells us, is aptly named for this story. She is the representation of innocence and faith. Her pink bonnet is used as a representation for her during goodman Brown s travel through the thick forest and becomes a constant reminder of her presence in goodman Browns mind. Johnson s administration released it on Fourth of July weekend, 1966, hoping it would not be noticed. But the Coleman Report did disturb various dogmatic slumbers and vested interests. And 50 years on, it is pertinent to today s political debates about class and social mobility. So, let us now praise an insufficiently famous man, sociologist James Coleman, author of the study Equality of Educational Opportunity. In 1966, postwar liberalism s confidence reached its apogee. From 1938, when the electorate rebuked Franklin Roosevelt for his plan to pack the Supreme Court, through 1964, congressional Republicans and conservative Democrats prevented a liberal legislating majority. But Johnson s 44 state victory that year gave Democrats 68 Senate seats and a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The causes of family disintegration remain unclear, but 51 years ago Moynihan and then Coleman foresaw the consequences. Moynihan said the tangle of pathologies associated with the absence of fathers produces a continually renewed cohort of inadequately socialized adolescent males. • 38. Reflection Paper On Healing And Deliverance Healing and Deliverance I began by saying Healing and Deliverance, often avoided, but necessary. Introspection is the first step towards healing and deliverance. M y personal views and description of healing and deliverance stem from my own experiences and the experiences I have witnessed. Healing is a process that does not happen overnight. It is when something has left a painful memory or visible sore that requires attention. Time tends to heal pain, but pain can take years for a cure. Healing requires constant attention to the areas where the brokenness, pain and hurting remains. I remember falling off of a set of stairs and twisting my ankle. My ankle became extremely swollen to the point where I could not walk. I had to literally crawl to the restroom and back into my room. I thought it was a minor sprain, but it turned out to be a major fracture. The pain at times was extreme and required close attention. In order to begin the healing process, I had to face the pain and provide constant care in order for healing to begin to settle in. I had to use different techniques that include soaking, medicating and wrapping my ankle to reduce the swelling. I had to be extremely careful not to apply too much pressure to my ankle which required me to keep my ankle elevated and apply ice. After a period of time my ankle was healed and I was able to walk again without bearing any pain. I shared the example of my ankle to connect this analogy with how we experience and deal with pain and go through the process of deliverance. I believe our greatest pain comes when something is taken from us like the death of a close loved one or tragedy that leaves a scar or memory that we will never forget. Pain hurts and generates different types of emotions and behaviors that can destroy our character and peace of mind if we are not careful. Have you ever had a painful experience that left you numb, perplexed and or even in a daze? The type of pain I described can take years to heal. I remember watching the movie Diary of a Woman. The story centered on a cruel male lawyer and loyal wife who had marital problems. The marriage experienced great sufferings and left great physical, mental and emotional pain for both the wife and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately, death isn t something that we can control. However, we can prolong it for as much as possible. We all know the saying, An apple a day keeps the doctor away , but what if I said, Less bacon a day keeps the cancer away . If you aren t up to date, author, Jeffrey Kluger, has recently released an article in TIME Magazine that ultimately talks about how bacon and other meats could be held responsible for causing cancer, specifically colorectal cancer (2015). America s favorite breakfast food, bacon, seems to be a prime suspect in this case. However, bacon isn t alone in this. Hot dogs and other red meats are under suspicion as well. So what can we do? Well, we could go cold turkey, but that doesn t solve anything. Instead, we need to be smarter about the decisions we make when eating our meat, in order for us to live a healthier lifestyle. Although I m in no position to tell you what you should do and shouldn t do, that doesn t mean I can t give you a couple of tips. Before going into detail about what tips I can give you, first let s understand why we should be smarter about the meat we eat. One example is Emile Durkheim whose perspective of religion was that it was a social component of human beings. He suggested that people got their regions ideas, were taught how to carry out their rituals and developed their ideals as a result of their socialization. He believed that there were no false religions and added that religionquite dominated over its followers and made them dependent on it. Durkheim tried to distinguish between religion and magic. He suggested that religious or sacred things are special and that commonplace things are profane. Magic rituals he claimed were just social events. Religious ideas were created while rituals were being performed causing many emotional participates to feel the presence of unseen beings among them, which was Durkheim s idea of a sacred world. • 43. How The Cold War Changed The Emergence Of Marvel Comics The Superhero comics and storylines has always been an integral part of the world s cultural history and the combination of historical events with fantasy themes has made them irresistible to comic book readers of various generations. Starting from the Great Depression in Europe, characters like Superman and Batman laid the foundation for the liberal superhero tradition which is still prevalent. That was followed by the Second World War where the superheroes assumed far greater roles the fighter for their country and a source of inspiration for the Americans back home. This was also the beginning of patriotic propaganda in the storylines which became a trend in the wartime editions of major superhero comic books. The end of World War II was not good news for the publishers as it served as their primary storyline for a very long time, and as a result, the focus shifted to horror stories which were designed to appeal to the more mature audience. It is a fascinating opportunity to reflect on all the inventions that have been made throughout each of our lifetimes. There is a theory that Newton discovered gravity when he saw a falling apple. Supposedly, when he was observing the apple he was also thinking about the forces of nature. In the first stage, which was started in 1884, Seurat mixed his paints from several individual pigments and was still using dull earth pigments such as ochre or burnt sienna. In the second stage, during 1885 and 1886, Seurat dispensed with the earth pigments and also limited the number of individual pigments in his paints. This change in Seurat s palette was due to his application of the advanced color theories of his time. His intention was to paint small dots or strokes of pure color that would then mix on the retina of the beholder to achieve the desired color impression instead of the usual practice of mixing individual pigments.Seurat s palette consisted of the usual pigments of his time such as cobalt blue, emerald green and vermilion. Serial killers live amongst us today, many are not suspected by their neighbors, friends, or family, until the day they make a fatal error leading to their arrest, and for some, they may never be caught. With this being said, it really makes an average person ask themselves, what is going on in a killers head? Or the even bigger question is, how did they become that way? Are these killers products of their environment (nurture), or a product of their biological make up (nature)? It is important to define the terms environment and heredity, as so they are not ambiguous. Environment is defined as the circumstances by which one is surrounded. Hereditary is defined as being based on inheritance, generally in the sense of genetics, which is our biological makeup. Are serial killers more prone to kill out of the various factors of their independent lives? Or are they more prone to kill due to the natural circumstances of their genes passed from their ancestors?
