Similarities Between A Clockwork Orange And A Man For All...
Joseph Heller s Catch 22, Antony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange and Robert Bolt s A Man For All
Seasons reflect similarities and differences in characteristics of postmodernism through their
respective portrayals of themes and purpose.
The above will be proved by first giving a clarification of what postmodernism is and by looking at
prominent characteristics that may be associated with this literary era. The way in which the novels
and the play reflect similarities and differences to postmodern literature will be discussed by referring
to themes such as dystopian societies and the use of black humour, satire and irony to emphasize the
purpose of each text.

This theme is present in Catch 22, A Clockwork Orange and A Man For All Seasons. According to
Ryan (2014), a dystopia is a society that has been corrupted by basic human flaws and is a location
where people live dehumanized and fearful lives. One of the most prominent characteristics of a
dystopian society is the presence of a totalitarian dictatorship (Akman, 2013). According to Friedrich
and Brzezinski (1965), a totalitarian dictatorship exists when a government exercises absolute control
over individuals and enforces a lifestyle onto people that lulls them into obedience. Both the plots of
Catch 22 and A Man For All Seasons revolve around the biddings of a totalitarian state. In Catch 22,
the state uses regulations to create a bureaucratic dystopian control. Yossarian and other soldiers are
forced to complete a number of missions before they may return home: The colonel wants fifty
missions (Heller, 1994:24). The state keeps the soldiers at bay by increasing the number of missions
every time: The colonel now wants all of you to fly fifty five missions. (Heller, 1994:67). In A Man

Wrinkle In Time Themes
Do you enjoy reading science fiction novels? Do you like adventures across the cosmos, trying to
defeat a hopelessly powerful and evil foe? Do you enjoy the science behind things like going from
planet to planet in seconds? If you chose all of the above, then A Wrinkle in Time is the perfect book
for you. In the novel, the protagonist, Meg, has many characteristics and experiences from being very
loving to traveling to other planets, that ultimately lead to her saving her brother. To start with, Meg
has many exceptional characteristics that, in some cases, lead her to emerge victorious. Some
examples are at the beginning of the book when she believes that she is homely, clumsy, awkward, but
loving high school student who holds an unhealthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This proves to us that she does not think that she can do it herself, but she knows that she has to suck
it up and do it. This alone as the final step to becoming heroic. Accepting that you don t want to do it
yourself, but you are the only one that can do it, will make a person heroic and confident in
themselves. Last of all, every single one of these things previously discussed change Meg forever, and
probably for the better. Think about it. She goes from being clumsy, awkward, and hating herself from
saving millions upon millions planets from a fate of all being puppets pulled by IT s repulsive strings.
And one of those millions of planets was probably Earth. So now she has the fact that she saved the
seven billion plus lives on her home planet, and the infinite number of lives she saved on other planets
from IT s grotesque clutches. I have a feeling that for those things for a person to have done would
change someone for the better. But the most important thing of all to her is the fact that she saved her
brother and that she made her family whole again. After that happened, she is happy and laughing and
hugging people probably for the first time in

Muscular Dystrophy Case Study
Duchenne s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is caused by recessive mutations in the dystrophin gene on
the X chromosome affecting 1 in every 3,500 5,000 male births. As shown in Fig. 1, dystrophin
protein anchors the actin cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix, playing critical roles in stabilizing
and protecting the muscle fibers against strain related injuries. As outlined in Fig. 2, dystrophin
mutations lead to myocyte fragility and membrane damages with repeated contractions, resulting in
increased cell permeability. Consequently, calcium ions diffuse into the myocytes, activating calcium
dependent proteases to cause further cell necrosis. , Additionally, creatine kinase (CK), a myocyte
enzyme that stores energy for contraction, leaks out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Treatments are aimed to control symptoms, preserve muscle functions and improve quality of life.
Prednisone is a type of commonly prescribed corticosteroid known for its anti inflammatory and
immunosuppressive properties through direct gene expression regulations. The precise mechanism by
which prednisone increases muscle strength in DMD patients is unknown, but hypothesises have been
made based on its modulatory effects in the myocyte inflammation, degeneration and regeneration
pathways following damage. As illustrated in Fig. 3, under healthy physiology condition, myocyte
damage stimulates signaling pathways that promotes both degeneration and regeneration of the
damaged tissue to promote healing. The extend of muscle healing is dependent on the balance between
the two processes. As outlined in Fig. 4, initial myocyte damage activates inflammatory cells such as
neutrophils and macrophages to inflict further necrosis through the release of free radicals and
proteases. The damaged myocytes are then removed via phagocytosis to provide space for healthy
tissue regeneration. The regeneration process is initiated through the activation of myocyte precursor
cells called satellite cells to differentiate and fuse at the site of damage. However the proliferating
abilities of satellite cells are reduced in DMD patients due to the absence of dystrophin proteins,
resulting in impaired muscle regeneration capacities. As a result, inflammation

Patsy Ramsey Case
Based on the research I conducted on the Ramsey case I would have to conclude the Patsy Ramsey is
the one that killed her daughter. Here s why I focus on Patsy Ramsey. First, the ransom note was
found in the kitchen where Patsy went first thing every morning to fix herself a cup of coffee. How
would a killer know this is where she would be going to first?
Second, the ransom note was written on a notepad the Ramseys had in their house along with using a
pen they had as well. If a kidnapper already knew they were going to kidnap someone, they should
have already written the note out or typed the note instead of physically writing the note. The
kidnapper knew they would have been taking JonBenet, so they would have been thoroughly
prepared. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ramsey, but as the note drags on, he is then referred to as John. That makes it much more personal
and would be someone that knows him. I can t see a foreign faction calling him by his first name.
Fifth, the note was also long for a ransom note. Usually a ransom note is very short and to the point
such as give us this amount of money or the person dies if you don t do exactly as I say. There was
also a practice note found. What kind of kidnapper practices their ransom note at the scene? You
would have to feel extremely comfortable to know that no one in the house would wake up and catch
you in the act of writing a 3 page ransom note, much less write a practice note first.
Sixth, the ransom note also stated to not have anyone in the house contact the authorities or talk to
anyone about the case or JonBenet would die. However, Patsy Ramsey did call the police and invited
friends and family over to discuss the case. If they did this, their daughter would be beheaded. But yet,
JonBenet was found strangled and beaten which is far from a beheading.
Seventh, there was no forced entry into the house which means it would possibly have been someone
from inside the house or someone that had access into the house to have committed the

Kochan s Sexuality In The Confessions Of A Mask
In the Confessions of a Mask, the main character Kochan is dealing with his sexuality. He is confused
if he does have love for women or men. When he meets a boy named Omi, Kochan s thoughts and
feelings are exposed. Being a homosexual in Japan during World War II, all Kochan desires is for
acceptance and love. As Kochan begin his teen years, he becomes more sexually active. His first
ejaculation was when he saw a painting of Saint Sebastian, which illustrated a handsome Roman man
that was naked and muscular. Kochan said, This was my first ejaculation. It was also the beginning,
clumsy and unpremeditated, of my bad habit (Mishima 41). In other words, he chose to believe that
every time he ejaculated, it was shameful. After that, Kochan becomes attracted to an older
schoolmate named Omi because he bigger and more developed than other boys. Omi is rumored to be
sexually experienced and on top of that Omi has a better appearance. . Omi is rumored to be sexually

Kochan said abruptly he thrust his snow drenched leather gloves against my cheeks (Mishima 61).
This was the trigger that Kochan felt that changed his view of men and love. Kochan described this
with such details and he started fantasizing about it. Kochan believed that it was love and he said and,
if such a blunt way of speaking to be forgiven, it was clearly a love closely connected with the desires
of flesh (Mishima 61). Kochan begins to lust over Omi, especially his physical body and becomes
obsessed. This scene depicts the gesture that Omi did that changed Kochan s view of love. This scene
proves that one act of kindness towards Kochan made him fall in love. He was so desperate to receive
such attention that when Omi gave that to him, he was head over

Essay on The Unethical Nature of Operation Iron Triangle
The 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, a unit known as the Rakkasans, were conducting Operation
Iron Triangle in 2006 in Iraq when soldiers killed eight unarmed Iraqi men. The US military severely
reprimanded the Commander of the Rakkasans, COL Michael Steele, for the unethical command
climate his leadership allowed to exist within the unit at that time. This unit will need a new
commander that can set and maintain an effective, ethical command climate through his leadership.
That new commander should resolve the issues that led to the reported war crime in order to establish
a culture that perpetuates an ethical command climate. According to MCRP 4 11.8B, War Crimes,

Third, COL Steele offered trophy knives as a reward for killing insurgents or exemplary service.
Offering an award for exemplar service is a good idea but a reward based on insurgent kills is not. It
further dehumanizes Iraqis and places an emphasis on killing over other mission objectives. Fourth,
COL Steele did not communicate the Rules of Engagement (ROE) very well with his unit. His
speeches emphasized his core principles of be precise; be lethal; be safe, but that caused his soldiers to
believe that COL Steele wanted them to shoot instead of capture potential insurgents. Fifth, at the
company headquarters, soldiers had posted a kill board that tracked the number of Iraqis killed during
operations. This kill board represents the degree to which COL Steele s soldiers were dehumanized the
Iraqis and were confused over the ROE. These issues would eventually lead to the war crime being
committed during Operation Iron Triangle. A new commander taking over the unit following COL
Steele s departure will have to establish a command climate that overcomes the current culture within
the Rakkasans. The new commander must confer with his leadership team to determine what the
issues are within the culture that leads to the unethical command. The first step should be to
disseminate command climate surveys. The results of the command climate survey would help judge
the extent to which soldiers assess the ethical situation

Leaf-cutting Ants Essay
One of the most little known species of ants in North America is the leaf cutter ant. This is mainly
because it lives in tropical environments and it is not aggressive to animals or humans if not disturbed.
The leaf cutting ant is a social insect. Alone the ant is virtually helpless but with the colony it can be a
thing feared by animal and human alike.
The leaf cutting ants have a very important role in the tropical forest. They create and manipulate the
environment around them. They also can do major damage. The leaf cutting or fungus growing ants
are distributed from northern Texas to central Argentina.
These ants are injurious since they cut the green vegetation from trees, shrubs and crops, and carry it

It also protects the internal organs. The main feature of the ant is its head. The large solders have huge
serrated blades which they can have up to 0.5 cm space between the mandibles. The size range can be
from 1/16 to 1/2 an inch depending on the type of species.
The ants are divided up into three different types according to size. Minima ( lt;5mm long), media (
gt;5mm long) and soldiers (a distinct class with oversized head and mandibles and a total body length
of more then 13mm) (Whitehouse amp; Jaffe 1996). The average worker leaf cutter ant lives from 4 6
months (Howard, Henneman, Cronin, Fox, Hormig. 1996). The worker ants commonly perform
superhuman feats. If we magnify the operation to human scale, so that an ant s 6 millimeter length
grows into a meter and a half, the forager runs along the trail for a distance of about 15 kilometers at a
velocity of 26 kilometers an hour.
Each successive mile (to convert to familiar Anglo American sports distances) is covered in 3 minutes
and 45 seconds, about the current human world record. The forager picks up a burden of 300
kilograms or more and speeds back to the nest at 24 kilometers an hour hence 4 minute miles
(Holldobler amp; Wilson, 1994).The queen is the largest of the ants and can reach length larger than
1/2 an inch and her life span can be 10 years or more (Smith. 1997). The queen has wings and when
she decides to leave the nest she carries a small pellet of mycelium (the fungus) in a special

Baby Driver Reflection
I was hesitant to watch Baby Driver, despite liking the trailers and talent involved, because I have yet
to see a full Edgar Wright film. I ve seen parts of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim vs.
the World. I liked what I saw, but I wasn t sure I wanted to have my introduction to Wright be his fifth
film. Well, my willpower broke and I m happier for it.
Baby Driver focuses on the eponymous Baby (Ansel Elgort), a getaway driver working for a crime
boss (the now disgraced Kevin Spacey). Things get more complicated when Baby meets Debora (Lilly
James), a waitress who steals his heart, and gets involved in a job with some volatile coconspirators.
Of the several joys of this film, not the least of them is acting. That starts with Elgort, who is
impressive as Baby. He makes him someone we instantly like, with his cool demeanor and infectious
enthusiasm for music. We root for him right away, and that holds when we learn more about him and
Elgort convincingly portrays those depths.
As much as I liked Elgort, I probably liked James work even more. She does a lot with little to work
with as Debora. Her character doesn t have much depth on the page, but James has a magnetic screen
presence. She nails each scene and makes you believe her character is a real person with many
dimensions, even though the movie doesn t really explore them.
For the supporting cast, Spacey is quite good as the crime boss Doc. He s got a menacing vibe about
his serious persona and,

Accountability in Nursing
Introduction Responsibility is defined as the reliability, dependability, and the obligation to
accomplish work , responsibility also includes each person s obligation to perform at an acceptable
level, the level that the person has been educated (Kelly Heidenthal, 2003, p. 268). Accountability is
defined as, being responsible and liable for actions or failure of actions of oneself or others in the
context of delegation (NCSBN, 2009). This is in reference to the nurse s legal liability for the actions
taken and patient outcomes. Accountability and responsibility are different, as responsibility belongs
to the person doing the task and accountability belongs to the person who assigned the task. The nurse
is both accountable for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the legal liability the practitioner owes to the patient. By accepting the responsibility to
perform a task the practitioner must ensure the task is performed competently at least to the standard
of the ordinarily competent practitioner in that type of task. If a practitioner such as a registered nurse
should delegate a task, then that practitioner must be sure that the delegation is appropriate. This
means that the task must be necessary; and the person performing the delegated task, for example a
HCA, must understand the task and how it is performed, have the skills and abilities to perform the
task competently and accept responsibility for carrying it out One common mistakes exhibited by
professionals in the field is delegation of duties by persons. Nurses should be wary of delegating
duties to health care assistant because nurses should be aware of the abilities of the person with whom
he or she is delegating duties. This is to minimize any chance of poor service delivery. Poor patient
attendance by a person tasked with the duty at the time of delivery will extend the liability to the nurse
delegating duties. Accountability of nurses is clearly pinpointed and well within the realm of law. A
nurse is accountable to all the patients he or she is expected to attend to. Such accountability as
underlined by common law helps promote safety of all patients. Accountability to the profession is
one other important aspect that provides an

The New Forms Of Imprisonment
One reason for the eminent criminologist John Irwin to venture this project of writing a 380 page book
on US prisons is because those over the last quarter of the century the number of prisons in the US has
increased almost ten times. The rate of incarceration zoomed from 100 to over 500 per 100,000. As a
result of this expansion and the punitive ideology that underpinned it, hundreds of new prisons were
built at a cost in the billions of dollars, and completely new prison regimens were introduced. In this
book, I examine the causes of this binge, the new forms of imprisonment it produced, and the
particular and broader effects it caused. (Irwin, 1)

prisoners sentenced more than 5 years were, though not brutalized, extensively harmed by the newer
form of imprisonment. This form of penalizing the prisoners led to a future problem and the prisoners
found it very difficult to coup up to the society outside the prison walls once they were released. It is
obvious that there are no specific grudges against these prisoners and the newer form of penalties are
all well researched and impeccably implemented but the end words keep proving against these
prisoners. This could be termed as discrimination against the prisoners serving a longer sentence than
5 years but in reality it could be expressed as an experiment gone wrong.
Like most community linked organization, or in other words, organizations dealing with a lager
number of members there bound to be some form of discrimination whether one likes it or not. But the
ideal situation is to place the discrimination under a certain amount of check in order to yield a long
termed fruit for the organization or, more often than not, to survive. Down the line of history there has
not been a single instance in any society over every strata of governance where discrimination was not
a part of the machinery. This is true for every imperial, capitalist, socialist, communist, dictatorial,
anarchist, feudal or fundamental state. And prisons are no different devoid of their location Algeria or

The Impact of Mental Health Literacy on Help- Seeking...
F E A T U R E Coral L Smith Ian M Shochet Queensland University of Technology, Australia The
Impact of Mental Health Literacy on HelpSeeking Intentions: Results of a Pilot Study with First Year
Psychology Students Key words: mental health literacy; help seeking; young adults Introduction The
mental health of young adults is an area of public health concern. It is important for those with mental
health issues to receive the appropriate support and treatment, and their own help seeking behaviours
are central to this outcome (Rickwood et al, 2005). However, help seeking rates amongst young adults
are less than optimal (Biddle et al, 2007). A factor that may facilitate help seeking and that has been
discussed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While suggesting a link between knowledge about mental illness symptoms and awareness of
appropriate help sources, it does not provide information about the young person s own help seeking
intentions should they develop a similar problem. Studies investigating barriers to help seeking can
provide this information, with many identified barriers reflecting deficits in mental health literacy. A
barrier to help seeking identified by several studies was the belief that psychological problems will
improve by themselves and/or can be selfmanaged (Cigularov et al, 2008; Eisenberg et al, 2007;
Vanheusden et al, 2008). A related barrier identified by Eisenberg et al (2007) is normalising the
problem. These barriers suggest a lack of knowledge about the importance of help seeking for
symptoms of mental illness, and may also indicate negative beliefs about mental illness. A further
barrier related to such negative beliefs is the view that requiring help is a sign of mental weakness
(Vanheusden et al, 2008). The belief that treatment might make things worse or that treatment would
not help (Vanheusden et al, 2008) may indicate lack of knowledge about the helpfulness of
interventions that are available for many mental illnesses. Knowledge deficits in a range of practical
areas have also been identified as barriers

Analysis Of The Poem The Spoon River
Small town life is in many places. You may not see it, but its everywhere. Newport, Vermont is an
example of small town life. Newport has one small hospital, one church, no mall, many small shops,
and one small movie theater. The small town life written in on the epitaphs in Edger Lee Masters
Spoon River Anthology accurately reflects small town life in Newport, Vermont.
Edgar Lee Masters was a poet and a novelist. He was born on August 23,1868 in Garnett, Kansas. His
parents are Hardin Wallace Masters and Emma J. Dexter. Masters grew up on his grandmother?s farm
in Illinois. After growing up on his grandmother?s farm, he became a lawyer in Chicago. He died
March 5,1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The Spoon River Anthology is made up of 244 epitaph poems. The epitaphs are fictional people from
a fictional town. The poems are written in free verse. Free verse is when a poet uses no pattern to the
poem.
When Masters started the Spoon River Anthology, he ?began to contribute his Spoon River epitaphs to
Reedy?s Mirror in the spring of 1914.? (Flanagan, John 21) Before this Masters never received
recognition for his work. In 1915 the Spoon River Anthology was published . It ?captured him into
fame and began a critical discussion of his poetry witch raged unabated for several decades.?
(Flanagan 21)
After this Edger Lee Masters became almost immediately a towering figure in the New American
poetry. People were writing articles in various periodicals entitled Masters and

Workplace Bullying and Power Distance

Introduction
The objective of this study is to understand the direct relation between one of Hofstede s (2003) four
dimensions and the risk of reporting for workplace bullying in employees among various
organisational culture. Culture effects on reporting of bullying incidents to management due to
authoritative distance between employees and managers, and create dissatisfaction at job even after

There is a relation between power distance culture and reporting of workplace bullying. According to
Loh et. al. s (2010) comparative study shows that people from high PD environment tend to respond
and report less negatively then low PD culture as in high PD culture individuals tend to maintain the
relationship and accept their status in order to stay in their group. In high PD cultures bullies feel they
can get away with it and seems to flourish for e.g. army and paramilitary settings such as fire services
(Salin, 2003b). In contrast with Salin s (2003b) studies for effects of high PD in bullying behaviour
reporting, Bairy et. al. s (2007) research in India found that seniors doctors been bullied by junior
colleagues. Bairy s (2007) studies followed out in only one workplace using small sample size (174)
and needs further examination. However, Salin (2003b) carried out his research from variety of
organizations, professions and positions included large number of samples.
Conclusion
In high PD cultures show low level of creativity, more hierarchical and dependency upon relationship
(Loh et. al., 2010). Lack of confidence in management response creates fear of reporting for bullying
among victim(s). I believe that this study shows the direct relationship between high PD and risk of

FROM: Erik Rocha
DATE: September 1, 2014
SUBJECT: Product Costs and Cost of Goods Manufactured Report for August 2014
Introduction to John Deere
John Deere has compromised to produce the best agricultural products in the market since 1837. Some
of the agricultural products manufactured at John Deere include harvesters, tractors, trucks, planters,
sprayers, seeders, and utility task vehicles. Many of the machines operating at John Deere s factories
run for 24 hours during the whole month. To specifically determine the cost of goods manufactured,
the initial work in process, raw materials, labor costs, manufacturing overhead, and ending work in
process need to be accounted.
Manufacturing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Raw materials are the basic parts in the manufacturing process. All the accounting information was
taken from the month of August 2014. Raw materials include items like paint, aluminum, plastic,
rubber, plastic, etc. To find all the direct materials used, the initial materials inventory is added with
the material purchases and then the ending material inventory is subtracted. John Deere acquired
$3,000 in raw material purchases and initially had $1,000 in Raw Materials
Inventory and ended up with $500 in Raw Material Inventory by the end of the month. As a result, the
company reported a total amount of $3,500 in Direct Materials used.
The company officially reported $5,000 in direct labor and $900 in manufacturing overhead for the
month of August 2014. Manufacturing overhead includes all costs indirectly associated with the final
product. As a result, the total manufacturing costs add up to $9,400 after adding the Direct Materials
cost. Lastly, the addition of the beginning work in process of $6,000 and the subtraction of the ending
work in process of $1,000 resulted in a total cost of goods manufactured of $14,400 for the month of
August 2014.
Cost of Goods Available for Sale and Net Income
The John Deere Harvester ultimately sold for unmatchable price of $20,000. John Deere reported
$1,000 in beginning finished inventory and $2,400 in finished goods inventory for the month ended.

Donald Trump Panelism
Rise of an Unconventional Candidate: Donald Trump s popularity can be attributed to the support of
blue collar workers, one panelist argued. The working class believes his remarks paint him as an
honest man and appreciate that he isn t part of the GOP establishment. The real estate mogul has a
strong appeal to those who have suffered from economic globalization, which are largely lower
educated, older white men living in the South, the Rust Belt, and the Rocky Mountains, a panelist
said. His supporters have lost out to global competition, particularly from China, suffered from wage
and job losses, and feel threatened by terrorism, immigrants, and America s changing demographics.

Barack Obama s administration, such as freedom of navigation in the South China Sea, but Chinese

Literature Review On Gout
LITERATURE REVIEW
The imbalance of trace elements was shown is involved in many disorders, such as Gout. Sixty four
elements were measured in the serum samples of Gout patients with in three regionally and healthy
control group by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP MS). An elemental profile of
Gout notably altered Al, Li, Ti, Se, Fe, Cu, Sr, Ta, Hg, U, Th, and Bi. An independent group of 39 gout
patients and 13 healthy controls was further used to confirm the elemental analysis, yielding a
sensitivity of 1.00 and a specificity of 1.00 for Gout forecast. A good link was also observed between
Li, Zn, and Cu and further two risk aspects, age and serum urate concentration, in Gout patients.
Therefore it was accomplished that gout has a distinctive elemental profile despite of many other

In recent decades, studies have shown that the development of Hyperuriemia and Gout is due to effect
of lead on the tubular urate transport causing diminished urate excretion. In the case of lead
intoxication these effects were mostly linked with renal failure. The clinical features of saturnine gout
were basically same as that of primary gout; though, acute attacks were likely to occur in the knee
more recurrently. The analysis of saturnine Gout was based on the history of exposure to lead, lead
toxicity, high serum lead levels and various other abnormalities. The treatment of Gout consists of
eliminating the further exposure to lead from the patient, to utilize chelating agents for removal of
lead, and management of acute Gouty Arthritis and Hyperuricaemia

Anthropology
Anthropology
Anthropology what a vulnerable observer you are! You may well have to jump into the arms of the
scientists if you are going to try to keep your grass hut at the academy! Ruth Behar
Debates on the role the reflexive plague the field of cultural anthropology as postmodern critics join
the bandwagon attempting to claim authority in this dubiously recognized discipline. In the borderline
realm between the sciences and humanities, cultural anthropology has tried to find a niche in which it
can comfortably rest. For many, this has been in building a foundation of the methodical. If
anthropology can classify, categorize, and synthesize, it can assert its legitamacy to the glares of
academia. However, in the attempts to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The anthropologist is not a data classification machine. The anthropologist is a human being with
specific angles, interpretations, and background. Reality is perception. By reading ethnographies, we
are learning from other s perception. The range of approaches is specifically what gives this discipline
it s richness and depth. Johannes Fabian in Remembering the Present: Painting and Popular History,
comments,
Which and whose reality? Once the ethnographer has ceased to think that being in touch with reality
and truth is guaranteed by following the rules of scientific investigation, the outcome of contests and
confrontations cannot be a victory of one kind of knowledge over the other. (p304)
Fabian in this ethnography beautiful depicts his role to give the reader a sense of the dialogue and
exchange.
When two cultures interact, the exchange itself reveals insight. Fabian does not dismiss this in his
ethnography. Like a stone thrown to water, the anthropologist cannot attempt to study the environment
without the acknowledgement of the ripples he/she creates. An example of Fabian s reflexivity is as
follows,
Perhaps Tshibumba sensed my incredibility and imagined the explanations I might come up with. That
is why he made sure I understood what he wanted to accomplish with this painting to create a kind of
presence. (p300)
In this example, Fabian shows the reader how his presence may have an effect on the data. With the
use of the word perhaps , he

EUROPEAN LAUNCH PROPOSAL
Updated: 23 July 2010
OVERVIEW
The following plan outlines the suggested activity for the launch of Energizer s new Energi to Go
power pack line of products in Europe.
Energizer will formally introduce the products within the Energi To Go power pack line to key
technology and consumer media in August. This falls within the summer holidays and is a quiet time
for journalists as many are away. In addition to which, a number of the European publications
shutdown for the month or operate with a skeletal staff. There are also the long lead times for the
monthly titles, usually 4 6 weeks, which needs to be taken into consideration and many of the
publications are preparing for their Christmas editions now. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sherlock Holmes as a business item
The BBC Sherlock is a great example of the concept of tie in media, a product which is based on the

Why Franklin Was A Thoroughbred Renaissance Man
During Benjamin Franklin s illustrious 84 years of life he achieved success that seems practically
unachievable today. Franklin found success in business, going from a teenager traveling colonial
America looking for work as a printer, to building his own printing empire. Aside from business,
Franklin also had a knack for inventing. He developed products such as the Franklin stove, bifocals,
lightning rod, and the glass harmonica. Include the fact that he was also heavily involved in politics, is
one of the founding fathers of our nation, and also one of the most intelligent men of all time, and it is
easy to see that Benjamin Franklin was a thoroughbred renaissance man. It is one thing to know about
the story of Benjamin Franklin, but it is completely different to understand the potential benefits of
following his way of life. This essay will focus on the benefits that Franklin s story could have on the
typical college student. College is a time of immense personal growth, and what better way to grow
than with the guidance from the author of the American dream Benjamin Franklin. After four short
years, students are let out into the real world so it is important to be prepared. That is why it would be
wise for college students to follow the life of Benjamin Franklin as presented in his autobiography.
Franklin s work ethic, emphasis on personal growth, and frugality are relevant to college students
today, and provide an outline for helping students find success.

Annotated Lolita Analysis
A Postcolonial view of The Annotated Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
The infamous story of Lolita by author Vladimir Nabokov has been a controversial one since its first
release in America in November 1958. The publishing world and the average readers were not
prepared or interested in reading a story about a middle aged pedophile and his twelve year old
stepdaughter. People were outraged by the book and were repulsed by it, but as the moth is drawn to
the flame, so are curious minds and within one week, Lolita became a best selling book.
Author Vladimir Nabokov was born in Russia on April 22, 1899 during a time when socially
acceptable rules were very different than what we practice in today s society. During the 19th century
in Europe, it was common for a man to marry a young girl of only 10 years of age. We can only
speculate, that Nabokov writes about the sexual relationship between father and daughter as
acceptable through the eyes of Humbert, since this may have been behavior that was familiar to him
through friends and family in Russia and his travels throughout Europe. In this story, we can apply the
postcolonial theory to the Western born Humbert to the colonization of Dolores Haze. The Europeans
invaded America and wanted them to convert to their culture. They also help power over the new land

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Case Study
Introduction
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a heart condition in which part of the heart muscle gets too
thick. The condition can cause a dangerous and abnormal heart rhythm. It can also weaken the heart
over time.
The heart is divided into four chambers. The thickening usually affects the pumping chamber on the
lower left (left ventricle). HCM may also affect the valve that lets blood flow out of the left ventricle
(mitral valve). Symptoms often begin at about age 30.
What are the causes?
This condition is usually caused by abnormal genes that control heart muscle growth. These abnormal
genes are passed down through families (inherited).
What increases the risk?
This condition is more likely to develop in people with a family history ... Show more content on

How is this diagnosed?
This condition is diagnosed based on the results of a physical exam that involves checking for an
abnormal heart sound (heart murmur). Tests may be done, including:
An electrocardiogram (ECG). This test records your heart s electrical activity.
An echocardiogram. This test can show whether your left ventricle is enlarged and whether it fills
slowly.
A Doppler test. This test shows irregular blood flow and pressure differences inside the heart.
A chest X ray. This test can show whether your heart is enlarged.
An MRI.
How is this treated?
Treatment for HCM depends on how severe your symptoms are. There are several options for
treatment, including.
Medicine. Medicines can be given to:
Reduce the workload of your heart.
Lower your blood pressure.
Thin your blood and prevent clots.
A device. Devices that can be used to treat this condition include:
A pacemaker. This devices helps control your heartbeat.
A defibrillator. This device restores a normal heart rhythm.

The Birth Of Hip-Hop Rapping During The Harlem Renaissance
The culture made the birth of hip hop possible. Culture was simply the reason we found ourselves
looking for a way to make money as the Harlemites did during the Renaissance period. Immigrants

the entertainment industry and black folks needed to make money due to no work and tough living
conditions in Harlem. Black folks could always make quick money in the entertainment business. The
whole system producing hip hop was how mechanisms and people worked together to provide new
innovations, whether they know it or not. During the Harlem Renaissance that the white collar black

Evaluation Of A Business Training
Consequently, operation expense and overhead expense can be alleviated in companies which used
outside experts services.
3.2. Increment competency in companies Handling a variety of HR activities besides the core activity
by employers would not bring useful consequences for organisations. Thus, by outsourcing, they can
concentrate on their core competence which might be included in the application of various policies in
different businesses. For instance, as stated by Belcourt (2006) designing products is one of the major
activities in NIKE. Contracting out non core HR tasks provides free time for managers to pay more
attention and attempt to the value added activities such as leadership development, innovation and
customer services. Hence, diminution of HR administrative duties like employees pension, benefits
and payroll helps mangers to be strategists to improve companies competitive advantages.
3.3. Professional expertise
Getting benefits from the experience and skills of outside providers can be the other externalization s
advantages. As HR laws and regulations tend to be complicated in some area, employers may make a
decision to externalize some works to specialized companies which are updated with changing
government regulations and have specific expertise needed in special fields. For example, in a
professional training company because of the availability of expert co workers, staff would have more
opportunity to develop their knowledge and proficiency.

The nation was revitalized, the finances were rectified, and the religious tensions had been quelled.
England grew from being a relatively poor country to one that would dominate the world stage. The
path to this point was filled with an abundance of intrigue, backstabbing, mischief, adultery, civil

The Importance Of Charter School
Another issue will an all charter school district is parent involvement. There are so many different
types of parents: some take initiative and others do not. Would parents who normally do not take a
notice in their child s life take any interest in researching which charter school they would like their
child to go to if the district was made solely of charter schools? William Jeynes (2009) argues that
parents may not have sufficient information about the options available to make the most prudent

The savings accounts would essentially lift some, if not most, of the financial burden of a child s
education from a parent. As Jeynes pointed out though, how are we going to make sure parents know
this resource is available to them? It obviously cannot be utilized if parents do not know about it. If
parents were aware and took advantage of the saving accounts, they would have access to funds for
transportation that Jeynes stated could be problematic. Yet again, one of the major controversy s
surrounding the bill is that it would pull funding out of the state s public schools to be put into charter
or private schools. How is that going to affect students in public schools who do not want to go to a
charter or private school? Unfortunately, I do not think the affects will be felt in full strength until it is
almost too late to pass legislation to fix the situation and pull schools out of their holes. The part of the
Education Freedom Savings Accounts that I think is a great benefit to all is the funding for tutoring
and testing services. Forming a solid educational foundation is necessary in order to grow later in one
s education. Perhaps if a child had that little bit of extra help from a tutor early in the process of
learning how to read, his/her life could be completely different today. Investing in one on one
assistance outside of the classroom is a great way to be more sensitive to the desires of parents and

Health Information Technology Impact on the Quality of Care The health care industry is driven
forward by the advancements in technology. Advancements in technology has improved the way
health care treatments are delivered to patients. Patient outcomes are affected in the way that the care
is being delivered. Technology has found ways to not only improve the way it is being delivered but
has also made it more efficient in how it is being done so. Therefore, healthcare quality has improved
with the advancements in technology. Health Information then and now Health information
technology has improved dramatically since early doctor visits conducted by Greek medical
practitioners. During that time frame there was no internet to rely on transfer of information, no

no social media platforms, such as YouTube, in which medical information can be reviewed. The
ability to access information has dramatically changed from then to now. Back then, medical

Information technology today has been able to make positive strides in the way paper based supports
have been slowly phasing out in favor of a computer based system. Computer based systems with

How Does Socrates View Of Death
BD Socrates views of death as represented in The Trial and Death of Socrates are irrevocably tied to
his beliefs of what makes life significant. For Socrates, life must be examined through constant
questioning and one must hold the goodness of life above all else. Consequently, even in the face of
the un good, or unjust in Socrates case as represented in his trial, it would not be correct to do wrong,
return wrong or do harm in return for harm done. Therefore, no act should be performed with an
account for the risk of life or death; it should be performed solely on the basis of whether it is good
and right. Throughout the Apology, Crito and Phaedo, Socrates expresses his conceptions of death and
the afterlife, which are reflected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One s main concern in life was doing what is just and pious. He explains that if a man is good he
cannot be harmed in either life or death. Socrates conducted his defense in a way that upheld his
beliefs on the significance of life. He explains that if he would much rather die after this kind of
defense than live after making the other kind. 38e. The other kind of defense being one in which he
did not obey the gods. Such as if they acquitted him on the terms in which he did not practice
philosophy, he stated he would obey the god rather than you, and as long as I draw breath and am able,
I shall not cease to practice philosophy. 29d. Socrates, even in the face of his own mortality, is
consistent in his moral beliefs. Socrates believed that death was a good thing and did not just happen
of itself in his case. it is clear to me that it was better for me to die now and to escape from trouble.
That is why my divine sign did not oppose me at any point [throughout my defense]. 41d. In the

death by waiting to drink the poison. He believed that it would be ridiculous in my own eyes for

Essay Richard Nixon and the Watergate Scandal
June 17th, 1972 would be a day America would never forget it was the start of one of the largest
scandals in our government. Richard Nixon was president of the United States and the people trusted
him. However this trust would be betrayed, as he got involved in something now known as the
Watergate Scandal. This was an interesting time in history because it was a large cover up by the
Republican Party. Also, how different people reacted to this event was fascinating because some
people were so blind to the truth, that they stuck behind Nixon even once tapes and other credible
evidence against him was produced. In this paper I will describe the events of Watergate and the
publics opinion and reactions to this lengthy Scandal that corrupted ... Show more content on

Mr. Hunt has disappeared.1 The connection between Nixon and the scandal was undeniable, as the
investigations continued to happen more and more information was revealed, and the tie between the
burglary and the Republican Party grew. The five men who had been arrested had been found with
bugging and eavesdropping devices, different types of cameras and around $5,000 dollars all in big
bills. The money has now been traced. It turns out to be part of $114,000 which found its way from the
Nixon headquarters to the Miami bank account of Bernard L. Barker, one of the five men arrested at
the Watergate.1 Journalists were writing up a storm during this time, finding more and more ways to
peg this on the Republican Party and Nixon, making them have no way out besides admitting they
were guilty. Despite denying that they had no way of knowing how that money got to Mr. Barker, the
people had no other choice then to believe them guilty, stirring up more problems for Nixon s
committee. From reading the articles that were published in the newspapers during this time, it seems
as though that the people were captivated by what was happening and disgusted with the outright
denial that the Republican Party lawyers and spokesmen were sticking too. It is now clear that
Republican denials of responsibility for the sinister Watergate espionage case issued from the White
house down

The text on it, centred and in a variety of lettering, reads: The Tragedy of the Dutchesse of Malfy. As it
was Presented privatly, at the Black Friers; and publiquely at the Globe, By the Kings Majesties
Servants. The perfect and exact Coppy, with diverse things printed, that the length of the Play would
not beare in the Presentment. Written by John Webster. Hora Si quid Candidus Imperti si non his utere
mecum. London. Printed by Nicholas Okes, for John Waterson, and are to be sold at the signe of the
Crowne, in Paules Churchyard, 1623.
End of description
The Duchess of Malfi was first performed in 1613 or 1614 by the King s Men, the acting company to
which Shakespeare belonged. The play was not printed until around ten years later in 1623, in quarto,
a smaller and less expensive edition than the larger folio size used for the first edition of Shakespeare s
complete works. The title page of this edition (shown in Figure 1) tells us that the play was presented
privatly, at the Blackfriers and publicly at the Globe ; that is, the play opened at the Blackfriars, the
company s indoor theatre, and then played at the open air Globe. The title page also informs potential
readers that the text of the play is the perfect and exact Coppy, with diverse things Printed, that the
length of the Play would not beare in the Presentment ; in other words, the play text includes
numerous passages that were cut for performance. The publisher, then, appears to be

Does Language Affect The Way People Think Or Is It The...
Does the language affects the way people think or is it the other way around? Our textbook, Cognitive
Exploration of Language and Linguistics by Rene Dirven, provides two theories: linguistic relativity
and universalism. Researchers who believe linguistic relativity claim that language affects the ways in
which its respective speakers conceptualize their world. Benjamin Lee Whorf, representative
researcher for linguistic relativity, argues that language determines thought, and that linguistic
categories limit and determine cognitive categories. Universalism, which is a contrasting concept to
the linguistic relativity, assumes that human thought is significantly alike across all cultures and that
since language is a reflection of human thought, all languages are similarly related. For instance, every
language has equivalent terms for live and death. Universalists use terms semantic primes and
universal concepts to explain this phenomenon. In fact, both theories, linguistic relativity and
universalism, could be advocated. However, after some strong researches done by universalists,
Whorfian view or linguistic relativity theory has been undermined and abandoned in academic society.
Although there are some weaknesses to linguistic relativity theory, it is not difficult to find examples
of Whorfian theory in our everyday life. For instance, compare to the people in the US, Koreans are
really sensitive about the age since he or she must use different language to the elder person.

Summary Of Chivalry In The Film Excalibur
How respectful, strong and loyal are knights? People characterize knights as these three elements, but
did they actually possess these traits? Respect, strength, and loyalty are defined by the term chivalry,
in which only the noblest of knights showed. In the film Excalibur it informs watchers the life of the
great King Arthur. Arthur was one of the strongest, most honest, and bravest of all the knights in the
film. His life was a roller coaster, unknowing that the family he grew up with wasn t really his. He
became a squire who trained to become a knight and stumbled across the Excalibur in which was
stuck in a stone implanted by his father. Right as Arthur pulled the sword from the stone he became
the king. Furthermore, the film discusses major events that took place in his life. Excalibur shows
chivalry at the scenes of the round table, knights finding holy grail for king, and the battle against
Mordred.
The film first illustrates chivalry by a scene where knights sit around a round table. The type of
chivalry that this scene shows is respect. Arthur built a castle for himself and the kingdom, in which
he placed this table in the center of the castle by itself. Most tables that leaders sit at are rectangular, in
which they sit on the ends, representing that they have the most power amongst the people. However,
Arthur uses a round table to speak to his men. He does this because he respects their opinion and
wants each of the men, including himself, to have an equal amount

the backstory of Romeo and Juliet. Once upon a time, the two families were actually exceptional
friends, they would help each other constantly and talk to one another. But one day there was a
jousting tournament in the small town of Verona. Both families wanted to win this joust so they sent

  • 2. Similarities Between A Clockwork Orange And A Man For All... Joseph Heller s Catch 22, Antony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange and Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons reflect similarities and differences in characteristics of postmodernism through their respective portrayals of themes and purpose. The above will be proved by first giving a clarification of what postmodernism is and by looking at prominent characteristics that may be associated with this literary era. The way in which the novels and the play reflect similarities and differences to postmodern literature will be discussed by referring to themes such as dystopian societies and the use of black humour, satire and irony to emphasize the purpose of each text. This theme is present in Catch 22, A Clockwork Orange and A Man For All Seasons. According to Ryan (2014), a dystopia is a society that has been corrupted by basic human flaws and is a location where people live dehumanized and fearful lives. One of the most prominent characteristics of a dystopian society is the presence of a totalitarian dictatorship (Akman, 2013). According to Friedrich and Brzezinski (1965), a totalitarian dictatorship exists when a government exercises absolute control over individuals and enforces a lifestyle onto people that lulls them into obedience. Both the plots of Catch 22 and A Man For All Seasons revolve around the biddings of a totalitarian state. In Catch 22, the state uses regulations to create a bureaucratic dystopian control. Yossarian and other soldiers are forced to complete a number of missions before they may return home: The colonel wants fifty missions (Heller, 1994:24). The state keeps the soldiers at bay by increasing the number of missions every time: The colonel now wants all of you to fly fifty five missions. (Heller, 1994:67). In A Man For All Seasons, ... Do you enjoy the science behind things like going from planet to planet in seconds? If you chose all of the above, then A Wrinkle in Time is the perfect book for you. In the novel, the protagonist, Meg, has many characteristics and experiences from being very loving to traveling to other planets, that ultimately lead to her saving her brother. To start with, Meg has many exceptional characteristics that, in some cases, lead her to emerge victorious. Some examples are at the beginning of the book when she believes that she is homely, clumsy, awkward, but loving high school student who holds an unhealthy ... This proves to us that she does not think that she can do it herself, but she knows that she has to suck it up and do it. This alone as the final step to becoming heroic. Accepting that you don t want to do it yourself, but you are the only one that can do it, will make a person heroic and confident in themselves. Last of all, every single one of these things previously discussed change Meg forever, and probably for the better. Think about it. She goes from being clumsy, awkward, and hating herself from saving millions upon millions planets from a fate of all being puppets pulled by IT s repulsive strings. And one of those millions of planets was probably Earth. So now she has the fact that she saved the seven billion plus lives on her home planet, and the infinite number of lives she saved on other planets from IT s grotesque clutches. I have a feeling that for those things for a person to have done would change someone for the better. • 6. Muscular Dystrophy Case Study Duchenne s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is caused by recessive mutations in the dystrophin gene on the X chromosome affecting 1 in every 3,500 5,000 male births. As shown in Fig. 1, dystrophin protein anchors the actin cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix, playing critical roles in stabilizing and protecting the muscle fibers against strain related injuries. As outlined in Fig. 2, dystrophin mutations lead to myocyte fragility and membrane damages with repeated contractions, resulting in increased cell permeability. Consequently, calcium ions diffuse into the myocytes, activating calcium dependent proteases to cause further cell necrosis. , Additionally, creatine kinase (CK), a myocyte enzyme that stores energy for contraction, leaks out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Treatments are aimed to control symptoms, preserve muscle functions and improve quality of life. Prednisone is a type of commonly prescribed corticosteroid known for its anti inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties through direct gene expression regulations. The precise mechanism by which prednisone increases muscle strength in DMD patients is unknown, but hypothesises have been made based on its modulatory effects in the myocyte inflammation, degeneration and regeneration pathways following damage. As illustrated in Fig. 3, under healthy physiology condition, myocyte damage stimulates signaling pathways that promotes both degeneration and regeneration of the damaged tissue to promote healing. The extend of muscle healing is dependent on the balance between the two processes. As outlined in Fig. 4, initial myocyte damage activates inflammatory cells such as neutrophils and macrophages to inflict further necrosis through the release of free radicals and proteases. The damaged myocytes are then removed via phagocytosis to provide space for healthy tissue regeneration. The regeneration process is initiated through the activation of myocyte precursor cells called satellite cells to differentiate and fuse at the site of damage. However the proliferating abilities of satellite cells are reduced in DMD patients due to the absence of dystrophin proteins, resulting in impaired muscle regeneration capacities. As a result, inflammation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Patsy Ramsey Case Based on the research I conducted on the Ramsey case I would have to conclude the Patsy Ramsey is the one that killed her daughter. Here s why I focus on Patsy Ramsey. First, the ransom note was found in the kitchen where Patsy went first thing every morning to fix herself a cup of coffee. How would a killer know this is where she would be going to first? Second, the ransom note was written on a notepad the Ramseys had in their house along with using a pen they had as well. If a kidnapper already knew they were going to kidnap someone, they should have already written the note out or typed the note instead of physically writing the note. The kidnapper knew they would have been taking JonBenet, so they would have been thoroughly prepared. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ramsey, but as the note drags on, he is then referred to as John. That makes it much more personal and would be someone that knows him. I can t see a foreign faction calling him by his first name. Fifth, the note was also long for a ransom note. Usually a ransom note is very short and to the point such as give us this amount of money or the person dies if you don t do exactly as I say. There was also a practice note found. What kind of kidnapper practices their ransom note at the scene? You would have to feel extremely comfortable to know that no one in the house would wake up and catch you in the act of writing a 3 page ransom note, much less write a practice note first. Sixth, the ransom note also stated to not have anyone in the house contact the authorities or talk to anyone about the case or JonBenet would die. However, Patsy Ramsey did call the police and invited friends and family over to discuss the case. If they did this, their daughter would be beheaded. But yet, JonBenet was found strangled and beaten which is far from a beheading. Seventh, there was no forced entry into the house which means it would possibly have been someone from inside the house or someone that had access into the house to have committed the ... As Kochan begin his teen years, he becomes more sexually active. His first ejaculation was when he saw a painting of Saint Sebastian, which illustrated a handsome Roman man that was naked and muscular. Kochan said, This was my first ejaculation. It was also the beginning, clumsy and unpremeditated, of my bad habit (Mishima 41). In other words, he chose to believe that every time he ejaculated, it was shameful. After that, Kochan becomes attracted to an older schoolmate named Omi because he bigger and more developed than other boys. Essay on The Unethical Nature of Operation Iron Triangle The 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, a unit known as the Rakkasans, were conducting Operation Iron Triangle in 2006 in Iraq when soldiers killed eight unarmed Iraqi men. The US military severely reprimanded the Commander of the Rakkasans, COL Michael Steele, for the unethical command climate his leadership allowed to exist within the unit at that time. This unit will need a new commander that can set and maintain an effective, ethical command climate through his leadership. That new commander should resolve the issues that led to the reported war crime in order to establish a culture that perpetuates an ethical command climate. Third, COL Steele offered trophy knives as a reward for killing insurgents or exemplary service. Offering an award for exemplar service is a good idea but a reward based on insurgent kills is not. It further dehumanizes Iraqis and places an emphasis on killing over other mission objectives. Fourth, COL Steele did not communicate the Rules of Engagement (ROE) very well with his unit. His speeches emphasized his core principles of be precise; be lethal; be safe, but that caused his soldiers to believe that COL Steele wanted them to shoot instead of capture potential insurgents. Fifth, at the company headquarters, soldiers had posted a kill board that tracked the number of Iraqis killed during operations. This kill board represents the degree to which COL Steele s soldiers were dehumanized the Iraqis and were confused over the ROE. These issues would eventually lead to the war crime being committed during Operation Iron Triangle. A new commander taking over the unit following COL Steele s departure will have to establish a command climate that overcomes the current culture within the Rakkasans. The new commander must confer with his leadership team to determine what the issues are within the culture that leads to the unethical command. The first step should be to disseminate command climate surveys. The results of the command climate survey would help judge the extent to which soldiers assess the ethical situation ... This is mainly because it lives in tropical environments and it is not aggressive to animals or humans if not disturbed. The leaf cutting ant is a social insect. Minima ( lt;5mm long), media ( gt;5mm long) and soldiers (a distinct class with oversized head and mandibles and a total body length of more then 13mm) (Whitehouse amp; Jaffe 1996). • 11. Baby Driver Reflection I was hesitant to watch Baby Driver, despite liking the trailers and talent involved, because I have yet to see a full Edgar Wright film. I ve seen parts of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I liked what I saw, but I wasn t sure I wanted to have my introduction to Wright be his fifth film. Well, my willpower broke and I m happier for it. Baby Driver focuses on the eponymous Baby (Ansel Elgort), a getaway driver working for a crime boss (the now disgraced Kevin Spacey). Things get more complicated when Baby meets Debora (Lilly James), a waitress who steals his heart, and gets involved in a job with some volatile coconspirators. Of the several joys of this film, not the least of them is acting. That starts with Elgort, who is impressive as Baby. He makes him someone we instantly like, with his cool demeanor and infectious enthusiasm for music. We root for him right away, and that holds when we learn more about him and Elgort convincingly portrays those depths. As much as I liked Elgort, I probably liked James work even more. She does a lot with little to work with as Debora. Her character doesn t have much depth on the page, but James has a magnetic screen presence. She nails each scene and makes you believe her character is a real person with many dimensions, even though the movie doesn t really explore them. Accountability in Nursing Introduction Responsibility is defined as the reliability, dependability, and the obligation to accomplish work , responsibility also includes each person s obligation to perform at an acceptable level, the level that the person has been educated (Kelly Heidenthal, 2003, p. 268). Accountability is defined as, being responsible and liable for actions or failure of actions of oneself or others in the context of delegation (NCSBN, 2009). By accepting the responsibility to perform a task the practitioner must ensure the task is performed competently at least to the standard of the ordinarily competent practitioner in that type of task. If a practitioner such as a registered nurse should delegate a task, then that practitioner must be sure that the delegation is appropriate. This means that the task must be necessary; and the person performing the delegated task, for example a HCA, must understand the task and how it is performed, have the skills and abilities to perform the task competently and accept responsibility for carrying it out One common mistakes exhibited by professionals in the field is delegation of duties by persons. Nurses should be wary of delegating duties to health care assistant because nurses should be aware of the abilities of the person with whom he or she is delegating duties. This is to minimize any chance of poor service delivery. Poor patient attendance by a person tasked with the duty at the time of delivery will extend the liability to the nurse delegating duties. Accountability of nurses is clearly pinpointed and well within the realm of law. A nurse is accountable to all the patients he or she is expected to attend to. The New Forms Of Imprisonment One reason for the eminent criminologist John Irwin to venture this project of writing a 380 page book on US prisons is because those over the last quarter of the century the number of prisons in the US has increased almost ten times. The rate of incarceration zoomed from 100 to over 500 per 100,000. As a result of this expansion and the punitive ideology that underpinned it, hundreds of new prisons were built at a cost in the billions of dollars, and completely new prison regimens were introduced. This could be termed as discrimination against the prisoners serving a longer sentence than 5 years but in reality it could be expressed as an experiment gone wrong. Like most community linked organization, or in other words, organizations dealing with a lager number of members there bound to be some form of discrimination whether one likes it or not. But the ideal situation is to place the discrimination under a certain amount of check in order to yield a long termed fruit for the organization or, more often than not, to survive. Studies investigating barriers to help seeking can provide this information, with many identified barriers reflecting deficits in mental health literacy. A barrier to help seeking identified by several studies was the belief that psychological problems will improve by themselves and/or can be selfmanaged (Cigularov et al, 2008; Eisenberg et al, 2007; Vanheusden et al, 2008). A related barrier identified by Eisenberg et al (2007) is normalising the problem. These barriers suggest a lack of knowledge about the importance of help seeking for symptoms of mental illness, and may also indicate negative beliefs about mental illness. A further barrier related to such negative beliefs is the view that requiring help is a sign of mental weakness (Vanheusden et al, 2008). In high PD cultures bullies feel they can get away with it and seems to flourish for e.g. army and paramilitary settings such as fire services (Salin, 2003b). The publishing world and the average readers were not prepared or interested in reading a story about a middle aged pedophile and his twelve year old stepdaughter. • 40. Essay Richard Nixon and the Watergate Scandal June 17th, 1972 would be a day America would never forget it was the start of one of the largest scandals in our government. Richard Nixon was president of the United States and the people trusted him. However this trust would be betrayed, as he got involved in something now known as the Watergate Scandal. This was an interesting time in history because it was a large cover up by the Republican Party. Also, how different people reacted to this event was fascinating because some people were so blind to the truth, that they stuck behind Nixon even once tapes and other credible evidence against him was produced. In this paper I will describe the events of Watergate and the publics opinion and reactions to this lengthy Scandal that corrupted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Hunt has disappeared.1 The connection between Nixon and the scandal was undeniable, as the investigations continued to happen more and more information was revealed, and the tie between the burglary and the Republican Party grew. The five men who had been arrested had been found with bugging and eavesdropping devices, different types of cameras and around $5,000 dollars all in big bills. The money has now been traced. It turns out to be part of $114,000 which found its way from the Nixon headquarters to the Miami bank account of Bernard L. Barker, one of the five men arrested at the Watergate.1 Journalists were writing up a storm during this time, finding more and more ways to peg this on the Republican Party and Nixon, making them have no way out besides admitting they were guilty. Despite denying that they had no way of knowing how that money got to Mr. Barker, the people had no other choice then to believe them guilty, stirring up more problems for Nixon s committee. From reading the articles that were published in the newspapers during this time, it seems as though that the people were captivated by what was happening and disgusted with the outright denial that the Republican Party lawyers and spokesmen were sticking too. It is now clear that Republican denials of responsibility for the sinister Watergate espionage case issued from the White house down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Does Language Affect The Way People Think Or Is It The... Does the language affects the way people think or is it the other way around? Our textbook, Cognitive Exploration of Language and Linguistics by Rene Dirven, provides two theories: linguistic relativity and universalism. Researchers who believe linguistic relativity claim that language affects the ways in which its respective speakers conceptualize their world. Benjamin Lee Whorf, representative researcher for linguistic relativity, argues that language determines thought, and that linguistic categories limit and determine cognitive categories. Universalism, which is a contrasting concept to the linguistic relativity, assumes that human thought is significantly alike across all cultures and that since language is a reflection of human thought, all languages are similarly related. For instance, every language has equivalent terms for live and death. Universalists use terms semantic primes and universal concepts to explain this phenomenon. In fact, both theories, linguistic relativity and universalism, could be advocated. However, after some strong researches done by universalists, Whorfian view or linguistic relativity theory has been undermined and abandoned in academic society. Although there are some weaknesses to linguistic relativity theory, it is not difficult to find examples of Whorfian theory in our everyday life. For instance, compare to the people in the US, Koreans are really sensitive about the age since he or she must use different language to the elder person. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Excalibur shows chivalry at the scenes of the round table, knights finding holy grail for king, and the battle against Mordred. The film first illustrates chivalry by a scene where knights sit around a round table. The type of chivalry that this scene shows is respect. Most tables that leaders sit at are rectangular, in which they sit on the ends, representing that they have the most power amongst the people. However, Arthur uses a round table to speak to his men.
