The Icarus Deception
Writing to me, is an art form, and I consider myself reasonably successful at it, with several thousand
items published around the world, both in print and on line. I decided that, in light of the demise of the
Squidoo website, which has been sold to Hubpages, I would review one of the books written by the
site founder, Seth Godin. He has for years been a leading light in the field of motivational education,
and you have to say that he has a kind of in your face style that demands your attention, which is
perhaps one of the reasons why his work, and this volume The Icarus Deception are so interesting. He
uses the title character whose determination to succeed led to his demise, as we all know in a
fascinating illustration of his belief that, where Icarus is concerned, first appearances are very
deceptive. The iconic fable tells that Icarus died because the wax in those melted when flying too
close to the sun, but Seth Godin maintains that this could be interpreted as the unlucky lad being
blinded by initial success, and failing to think things through properly. ... Show more content on

The Neanderthals
According to the consensus view, the Neanderthals lived 250,000 to 30,000 years BP (Before the
Present), they were very primitive, looked more like gorillas than men, led a short brutish life, and
died on average at the age of forty five. According to my research, they were built more powerfully
than modern Humans. Their thicker tendons and ligaments, attached to heavier bones, gave them
superior strength, and the capacity of leaping high to hunt large animals. One of their back muscles,
that Humans have lost, added tremendous force and precision for throwing an object such as a lance,
or for handling a sword. Their voluminous rib cage gave superior stamina during any effort. Their
eyesight was much sharper than that of modern Humans

Essay on Reality-Based Leadership ~ My Opinion
Reality Based Leadership Review
Though out this paper I will provide my opinion on how accurate Cy Wakeman s book Reality Based
Leadership is in the workplace. I will attempt to provide my honest and professional opinion about the
techniques Ms. Wakeman outlines in her book about leadership.
In my opinion the Reality Based Leadership book is broken down into three main points which are;
managing versus leading, leading your employees and yourself, and delegating your authority. During
these topics I will summarize what the book talks about then analyze what was discussed and provide
my thoughts about whether or not I think it is realistic or wishful thinking.

The thought with this is some of the middle 60% will rise up wanting to belong to the top and the
others will fall to the bottom. I see this practice as trimming the fat of the organization by terminating
the ones who are only there to take up space and collect a paycheck. For this strategy to work in today
s sue happy world you will have to maintain extensive records of your employees. You will have to sit
down with each and every one of them and ensure they know what is expected of them within the
organization or the team.
By focusing on the top performers within your organization you allow them the latitude to make their
own decisions for the tasks that they were assigned. This makes your job as a leader and a manager
easier and makes the employees feel they belong to a higher purpose and the satisfaction that they are
an integral part of the organization. It will also allow you to focus more on the development of others
help them achieve higher degrees of satisfaction and possibly accelerate their career by getting
promoted to higher positions within the organization.
A successful leader will be contagious within the organization. When you, the manager, are faced with
change, whether it is changing a process or it is the higher management wants to lower their human
capital, you are going to have to be the engine that drives your employees even if you are not involved
in the decision making. Leaders must display strength and

Growth of Mormon Church Essay
On, April 6, 1830, a then 24 year old young man named Joseph Smith Jr. gathered in a small room
along with six other people to organize a Church that would change American history. Since the age of
14, Joseph Smith had always been a source of contentment and ridicule by people of all social classes
and religions. Ten years earlier, in the spring of 1820, this young boy declared that he had seen a
vision, that he had been visited by both God, and His Son, Jesus Christ.
This vision is a cornerstone of the Church that is known today as, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
day Saints, nicknamed the Mormons , a religion that was built on the ideals of communal living and
strict obedience to religious guidelines, a people that would be ... Show more content on

The Mormon religion is tied to millennialism, or the belief that Jesus Christ will someday return to
Earth and rule in righteousness for 1000 years only after there have been many catastrophes and much
suffering. This belief served a purpose for Joseph Smith, it solidified him as a prophet, meaning as
long as his followers would heed his words, also known as the revelations he received directly from
God , they would be saved. Millennialism, or dooms day preaching was nothing new to the early
colonists, Puritans as early as the 1600 s were convinced the end was near, greatly contributing to
societies beliefs.# The Millerites were a very popular dooms day sect that was established in the early
1830 s, numbering nearly 50,000, they believed that the world would end in 1844, and Christ would
return to rule.# Mormon religion was also founded on communal living, meaning that all members
were expected to consecrate their
possessions back to God, and every family would have their land and goods given to them by the
church, dependent on their needs. Joseph Smith set up a system called the United Order to serve this
purpose, and it worked well. The poor were able to get the provisions they needed for their family,
while at the same time, the rich felt like they were admired for their sacrifices.#
By the end of 1830, 9 months after it had been established, the Mormon church had a congregation of

Difference Between 16th And 17th Century Courtship
The 16th and 17th Century Laws On Love. The 16th and 17th century society had parents connected
to courtships, a very formal courtship, and ending with an Elizabethan Church wedding.. Back in the
16th and 17th century many things were different from how they are today, especially marriage and
courtship. Back then parents had entire control over the courtship. A courtship back in the day looked
very different from anything we have now. In the 16th and 17th century s normal marriage in England
followed the Elizabethan Church wedding rules. Also it s the exact kind of wedding William
Shakespeare had. Today s relationships and marriages are completely different than those of the 16th
and 17th century.
In the 16th and 17th century parents had control over the courtship and marriage of their children.
Parents power over their children related even in courtships. Marriage of the children looked to the
parents as nothing more than a trading of property. Unless the parents die, then the couple s town and
church are in control. The parents have to write a legal contract in order for the first step of their
marriage process to begin. First in the start of the courtship both the man and the woman have to have
property to offer. The parents must have no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Summary Of Beast Of Waste And Desolation
In The Beast of Waste and Desolation in Barry Holstun Lopez s book Of Wolves and Men, he writes
about the attitudes he encountered from people when discussing wolves. These attitudes came from
several different sources, ranging from several different Native American tribes and field biologists to
ranchers, trappers, and general residents of the areas where he conducted his research. Lopez
expressed his discomfort when he spoke with the latter group, as those people that felt there was
nothing wrong with killing wolves, and that the practice, overall, was a good thing. Lopez writes that
it seemed many of these people appeared to be filled with a general hatred; of government, laws, and
wolves. The killing of wolves held a vengeful element, with no remorse or regret. He goes into detail
of the single minded persecution of the wolf, even though many of the conflicts with wolves were man
made. One example provided was of man depleting many of the wolves natural prey sources like elk
and buffalo, and as a result the wolves turned to preying on the domestic stock instead. Suddenly, man
was justified in killing wolves as it became necessary to protect livestock. The larger questions ...

Lopez s writing is important to my paper because he documents the social and psychological history
of human interactions with wolves. Mr. Lopez has been a highly respected authority on human and
wolf interactions, and his first hand research for Of Wolves and Men was extensive. His recounting of
the vicious and cruel treatment that wolves were subjected to documents the almost incomprehensible
evil the human animal is capable of. This information helps present the mindset that many people have
carried forward to today, and illustrates the irrational fear and hatred humans still exhibit when dealing
with wolves. He gave a startling and alarming window into the human mind, and clearly demonstrates
the resistance the wolf reintroduction and recovery efforts had to go up

Taking a Look at the Movie Godzilla
Godzilla Review Essay I like movies with a strong female lead. A girl that defies all limits and proves
herself to be just as worthy as any man. That being said, I was a tad wary about seeing the new
Godzilla movie. The only reason I went was because my boyfriend was very excited to see it and
being the dutiful girlfriend I am, I went along with an open mind. My expectations were quite low,
since this movie didn t fit in with my usual genre. I never anticipated to actually like the film. Godzilla
is a wonderful film that everyone should see because it has a wonderful cast, great action, and
amazing special effects. The film opens with the audience meeting the Brody Family. Joe (Bryan
Cranston), Sandra (Juliette Binoche), and their son, Ford, who live in Japan. Both Joe and Sandra
work at a nuclear power plant that is concerned about some unusual seismic activity. A tremor hits the
plant, causing a breach in the reactors. Sandra is underground with the reactors and will be exposed to
the radioactive chemicals if she doesn t get out in time. Joe races downstairs to try and save his wife,
but she does not make it out in time and Joe must watch his wife die a painful death. Across the island,
young Ford Brody watches as the reactor collapses, knowing that his parents are inside. Fast forward
to the present day, Lieutenant Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor Johnson) returns home after a 14 month long
deployment with the Navy. He is welcomed with open arms by his wife, Elle

Symbolism In The Rabbit Proof Fence
The movie, Rabbit Proof Fence, directed by Phillip Noyce, tells the story about three young
aboriginals girls name, Molly, Daisy, and Gracie, who were taken away from their families and homes
to be brought up in white society. The girls are related; two sisters and a cousin. The story reveals the
struggles the girls encounters while trying to run away from Moore River, which is a settlement camp
where half caste native (children with both white and Native parents) children are educated on how to
live with white population. The girls are taught to become servants, and they are prohibited from using
any other language but English. The settlement camp where these girls are held is far away from their

When planning the escape, Molly knew that the fence ran from the north to the south. Therefore, she
was sure it would lead them back home. In this context, the Rabbit fence symbolizes a map that would
show them the way home. Throughout the movie the girls use the fence as a guide for their journey
home. The existence of the fence is of great importance to the girls escape mission. Although the fence
was built to keep rabbits out of the farmland, it became a symbol of repression, as when it was built, it
kept Aboriginal people form interacting with the white population. It was a way of dividing and
repressing the Aboriginal people. This is true in other parts of the world as well. For example, the
government of Belin built a wall that physically and ideologically divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989.
The Berlin wall divided families who found themselves unable to visit each other. Many East
Berliners were cut off from their jobs. The Aboriginal families find themselves unable to raise or visit
their own children. The flying eagle is another symbol in this film that has been exclusively embraced.
The bird first appears to Molly and her mother at the beginning of the movie. Her grandma points
towards the bird and says to Molly, See that bird? That s a spirit bird; he will always look after you.
This scene shows the bird importance to the Aboriginal. The bird gave Molly the courage to escape
Moore River. While in

The Economic Globalization Of India
Economic Globalization has been sweeping across the nation since the end of WWII. Slowly but
surely all the nations across the world have been impacted by Economic Globalization. India for
example has been one of the countries that has been recently hit by the storm and India s economy can
be seen to still be shooting up. In my paper I will be discussing the Economic Globalization of India,
the roots of the globalization to occur, the effects it had and the negative effects it had. Effects such as
foreign trade, economic growth and GDP. From the mid 90 s to current times India is seeing the
effects of globalization, bringing India into one of the top countries in the world in terms of GDP
being ranked at 10th in the world.
The economic globalization in India began in the 90 s with the economic growth being due too
advances in IT and business. One of the major forces of globalization in India has been in the growth
of outsourced IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) services (1). The past few years have seen
more and more educated people due to India s low cost of labor but educated and English speaking
workforce. With economic globalization hitting India in the IT and BPO field it has allowed
companies to expand their operations to India to take advantage of their massive growth opportunity.
The ability for corporations to expand to India has enabled huge corporations to open up markets in
India allowing for great success. Notable examples of international companies

The East Deals With Church And State In The Byzantium
The Byzantium recognized church and state as corresponding parts of the whole empire. This
obviously caused problems because church and state has their own authority. This made it difficult to
decide which one has more authority. This especially causes feuds in the West, due to not agreeing on
whom had the power. The East, however differed with the West in this. In the East their structure was
symphonia aka they had harmony, between each to.(pg.129). Church and State worked together and
the differences of power was not an issue. I actually agree with how the East dealt with church and
state. I feel when it comes to political or religious agreements, you should collaborate and pay

Ethics Of Patriotism Essay
Comparative Ethics of Patriotism
I. Introduction What is the moral worth of patriotism? Is there a substantive difference between the
patriotism of totalitarian and liberal countries? Do the soldiers in those countries experience patriotism
differently? In this paper, I will attempt to affirm the moral worth of patriotism, find the exact
differences between totalitarian and liberal patriotism, and determine how this difference might
manifest itself within the citizens of either country. Our paper structure will begin with using a
common definition of patriotism, and will make an initial attempt to argue for a difference between
liberal and totalitarian instances of patriotism. When this attempt fails, we will more clearly and
carefully define patriotism, and explore the challenges in assessing its moral worth. Then, after a re
conception of patriotism, we will return to the question of patriotic differences between totalitarian
and liberal governments. As a final note to the reader, no specific moral theory will be employed.
Instead, the priority in this analysis will be focused more closely on uncovering relations between
citizen and state that have implications in any moral system not just noting instances where patriotism
seems to violate the specific rules of one moral system.
II. An Initial Definition of Patriotism It helps, when discussing definitions, to pull from a trusted
source; in this case, it will be the Sanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, and more

Predict Sex Is Better Than Postcranial Measurements
predict sex was better than postcranial measurements. Additionally, sexual dimorphic features show
large variation within and between populations (Keen, 1950; Acsádi, and Nemeskeri, 1970; Workshop
of European Anthropologists, 1980; Ubelaker, 1984; Krogman and İşcan, 1986). Some sites on the
skull have shown a wide range within sex variation making them less reliable for sex determination.
For example, a projecting nuchal crest is typically associated with a male skull but can also appear on
a female skull, similarly non projecting nuchal crests, typically associated with a female skull, can
also appear on a male skull (Gulekon and Turgut, 2003; Klepinger, 2006). Yet, this and others, are still
some of most commonly used sites for sexing. Keen (1950) expressed that because morphology is
often related to size and robustness, determining sex is extremely difficult unless extreme features are
expressed, such as a very small mastoid process that projects only a small distance for females and a
massive mastoid process that projects a great distance from the inferior margins of the skull for males.
Furthermore Meindl et al. (1985) and Walker (1995) have discussed that the morphology of sites on
the skull of both sexes appear more masculine as the person ages, which would also hinder the
accuracy of determining the sex of skeletal remains. Buikstra and Ubelaker (1994, p.16) also caution
that estimation of sex can be difficult if the observer is not familiar with the overall pattern

Portrayal Of Sexuality In Media

dance. I was classically trained in ballet for 11 years of my life, and from an early age I was aware that
my body did not match the prima ballerina tall, reed thin, flat not curvy. When I started developing

secret, hidden places of the heart. Occasionally, this mindset can cause me to be a little too open and
sometimes leads to discomfort on behalf of some of my acquaintances, but my closest friends are used

Roman Roads Research Paper
At the peak of the Roman Empire, there were over 250,000 miles of roads that connected nearby cities
to Rome. Over 50,000 miles were paved roads that allowed quicker and safer travel for the Roman
army, officials, messengers, and trading of goods. The road system was much like modern day roads
including mile markers, inns, restaurants, and protection. With a simple yet advanced design, Roman
roads paved the way for Roman conquest and a superior authority throughout the Roman Empire.
These roads allowed for faster and easier transportation, encouraging people to journey near and far.
Although the Romans persecuted early Christians, Roman roads played a vital role in the spread of

Along the Roman roads were state operated lodgings and way stations. Stations were established
(stationes), some of them only to change horses (mutationes), others for overnight stops (mansiones).
Augustus was the one that ordered the entire road network inventory, charging M. Agrippa with that
responsibility (Zaharia, Aurel). Located every ten miles was horse changing stations, where
government travelers could exchange out their tired horse or donkey. These were particularly
important for tax collectors and message delivery, as they were required to travel great distances at
rapid speed. Stopping frequently at these changing stations could allow travelers to go three times
further than maintain the same horse. Positioned approximately every twenty miles were hotels that
offered all the necessities for an overnight stop.
Roman roads were also well protected and patrolled by smaller branches of the Roman army. Most
often the soldiers that were assigned to patrol the roads were lower ranking soldiers known as
stationarii. Stationarii soldiers were usually positioned at a post for an average term of two years.
Along with handling local protection and intervention these soldiers were required to oversee the
nearby roads. Watchtowers and post could be found in high traffic as well as isolated areas to offer

What Do the Representations of Cleopatra in Film and on...
Part 1
What do the representations of Cleopatra in film and on television (as shown on the DVD video
Cleopatra ) tell us about how her reputation changed over time? Discuss with reference to two or three
representations.
The name Cleopatra invokes a striking image in your mind. The Egyptian queen who took on the
might of Rome. The way we see Cleopatra s character changes in the way she has been depicted in
movies and television across the years. With each different portrayal she reflects contemporary issues
regarding society, the role of women and the historical knowledge available.
The three representations of Cleopatra I will be looking at are the films from 1917 staring Theda Bara
and 1963 starring Elizabeth Taylor and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her skin is darker and her hair is shorter and covered in various head dresses. In character she is
shrews and calculating and unafraid and skilled at using a weapon. This reflects how society has
changed and how the role of women has change over the years. Women are seen as more able equal in
skill and ability to men. It also showed the difference in knowledge of ancient Egypt; still seen as
luxurious the alliance was needed by Rome for strategic reasons.
Whilst all three depictions of Cleopatra show opulence, luxury and a sexually proactive and powerful
stateswoman. It is how perception of these roles has changed over the years which cultivate the
reputation of Cleopatra. From a sexually dominant woman as bad and threatening thing to a shrewd
leader unafraid to use all weapons at her disposal to ensure the strength of her nation and the
continuation of her bloodline.

Office Department Of Veterans Affairs
I. Executive Summary Over the past years a problem has been brewing at the Department of Veterans
Affairs that has impacted its clients. This problem has for the most part been sifting through the
Department very silently and was until very recently a casual occurrence of everyday work at Veterans
Affairs. I am talking, of course, on the recently discovered problem that has proven to be such
scandalous and embarrassing for the Department, the rigging of veteran s schedules for purposes not
pertaining to the betterment of the services or the betterment of the veteran clients. No surprisingly
this scandal has taken its toll beginning with the resignation of the head of the Department of Veterans
Affairs and the firing of various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
II. Issue History 1. Statement the Impact of the Problem The main problem is that some agencies
within the Department of Veterans Affairs across the States have been rigging client schedules in an
illegal fashion for different illicit, unprofessional purposes. One can only imagine the disorder that this
practice causes. Not only does it wreak havoc on clients that are in need of a health care service but
also provide, if not stopped, institutionalization of an illicit practice which in turn breaks down
transparency and accountability. It is therefore important that policy makers and the new heads of the
Department act as quickly as possible in order to make critical short term changes that will eventually
make way for long term goals. One major consequence of this problem is that supervisors were asking
staff to alter the scheduling sheets in order to meet the fourteen day goal required to attend a veteran
(Cohen, 2014). In other words, fourteen days is the appropriate span of time that the local agency has
to call up a veteran to provide him/her with the suitable health service. Because of mounting pressures
of trying to meet this goal the local agencies, seeing there were too many patients and impediments,
made up unofficial lists of those patients they were going to make wait longer and only input those
patients they knew could be called up within

Explain The Structure Of The Respiratory System
P6 describe the structure and function of the respiratory system
The nasal cavity (it can also be known as the nasal fossa) is a large air filled space above and behind
the nose in the middle of the face. Each cavity is the continuation of one of the two nostrils.
This picture shows us where the nasal cavity can be found in the body.
The epiglottis is a flap that is made of elastic cartilage tissue covered with a mucous membrane,
attached to the entrance of the larynx. It projects obliquely upwards behind the tongue and the hyoid
bone, pointing dorsally. There are taste buds on the epiglottis.
The image shows where the epiglottis can be found in the body.
The pharynx is an organ found in vertebrates and invertebrates. In humans the pharynx is part of the
digestive system and also of the conducting zone of the respiratory system. The conducting zone also
includes the nose, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and bronchioles, and their function is to filter, warm, and
moisten air and conduct it into the lungs. It makes up the part of the throat situated behind the nasal
cavity, and behind the mouth and superior to the esophagus and ... Show more content on

This refers to the process of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide moving between the lungs and blood.
Diffusion occurs when molecules move from an area of high concentration to an area of low
concentration. This occurs during gaseous exchange as the blood in the capillaries surrounding the
alveoli has a lower oxygen concentration of Oxygen than the air in the alveoli which has just been
inhaled. Both alveoli and capillaries have walls which are only one cell thick and allow gases to
diffuse across them. The same happens with Carbon Dioxide. The blood in the surrounding capillaries
has a higher concentration of CO2 than the inspired air due to it being a waste product of energy
production. Therefore CO2 diffuses the other way, from the capillaries, into the alveoli where it can

Similarities Between The Rome And The Han Dynasty
The Han Dynasty and Imperial Rome were two greatly advanced civilizations for their time period
and their success was no fluke. Both dynasties gained their success through a handful of varying ideas
and strategies involving the economy, military, and social structures. However, one of the greatest
factors that determined the respective dynasty s futures was their methods of political control. The
Han Dynasty and Roman Empire agreed on some major aspects and ideas of politics, but also had
diverging views on a few subjects. For example, one major topic both groups disagreed on is the form
of government. Some examples of subjects they both agreed on was the focus on infrastructure and
trade. One thing that most major political states throughout history can agree on is the importance of
trading, not only within the state but with outside states as well. Both the Roman Empire and the Han
Dynasty were large participants in trade, not only within their states but with outside states as well.
The Han Dynasty exemplifies this by showing their great amount of effort to get involved in the Silk
Road. The Han Dynasty went to the extent of expanding the wall into the route of the Silk Road.
Metaphorically speaking, this is the Han Dynasty s way of sticking their foot in the Silk Road and
regional trade. This was first done in the Han Dynasty because the leaders knew the necessity for trade
and its power to keep their government and society thriving.
The Romans were also greatly

Religious Diversity
Since their establishments, many universities in the United States of America, as well as elsewhere in
the world, have grown the diversity of their student populations in more than several aspects including
religious diversity. Albeit presented obstacles, this growth represents values of tolerance and freedom
that Americans have generally come to hold in high regard. If one considers narrower communities, a
collegiate institution such as the University of Southern California (USC) boasts its diversity through
admittance of students from countries all over the world; in fact, it holds more international students
than any other private university in the United States. With countless cultures mixed in one place,
USC has a religious diversity that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the University of Southern California, as well as greater Los Angeles area, a larger part of the
population participates in some aspect of religious congregational life, whether that be shown by
attending mass at the Caruso Catholic Center or going to Sunday church service at Jefferson Church
down the street. In fact, there are currently over 60 religious congregations located within the USC
Defined Neighborhood Outreach Boundary, as well as many campus oriented student organizations
such as Hillel and the LDS (Mormon) Institute of Religion ( Religious Congregations Near USC ).
With such availability of and access to various religious backgrounds, students are naturally exposed
to something outside their own perspectives that is educationally valuable. However, the University of
Southern California as an institution surpasses sole religious diversity and certainly pushes for
pluralism because it is intentional about bringing people from different backgrounds together to build
positive bonds (Patel

AR-15 Myths
After the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida, the AR 15, allegedly used by the shooter, has
become one of the most feared and hated guns available. However, this Louder With Crowder video

Stop Believing 1. AR 15s Are The Most Dangerous Guns on the Market: Crowder says there are
plenty of other rifles that are semi automatics and are more effective at killing than the AR 15s. These
other rifles can carry just as much ammo and their ammunition is just as powerful or more so than an
AR 15s. Semi automatic shotguns, commonly used for deer hunting, are also just as dangerous. The

What s for Supper Tonight? The Story of the Milwaukee Cannibal You re probably wondering who the
Milwaukee Cannibal is, right? This grotesque psychopath has a story like no other. His alibis to lure in
his victims are utterly surprising. Even though this very monstrous man is dead, the story of his grisly
murders will never be forgotten. In the year of 1960, Milwaukee, Wisconsin welcomed a new spawn
of Satan. At the mere age of four, a major procedure was performed on this young child to fix a double
hernia. Soon after at six years old, he moved to Bath, Ohio with his family. At age eight, he was

what he had done. After serving 2 years out of 957, he was murdered by fellow African American
inmate Christopher Scarver. Dahmer was killed instantly when his skull was smashed by a lead pipe.
The date was November 28, 1994. Before his death, Dahmer told authorities, This is the grand finale
of a life poorly spent and the end result is just overwhelmingly depressing. A sick, pathetic, miserable
life story. That s all it is, Dahmer told authorities shortly before his death. I would erase that line and
introduce the quote at the beginning. (Dahmer quotes; final quote) Dahmer was a human being just
like all of us, but the story of his sick murders will still live on. From the stories about his refrigerator

The Ancient Greek Of Ancient Greece
The ancient Greeks highly valued the strength and power in a spoken word. Political, economic,
cultural, and social life of the Ancient Greeks can be seen in their plays. They thus relied on words to
communicating. Their desire to communicate and pass crucial information led to the creation of
numerous plays across the region. The ancient Greek plays were both entertaining and educative thus
reflecting on the kind of life that this person lived (Hogan 11). Their settings can suggest a lot about
the circumstances and conditions under which this play was performed. The dramatic presentations
were crucial to Athenians, a fact that can be seen from the numerous and well spread theatres across
the city. The paper will focus on how the ancient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effects of violence were so disastrous and they were punished by god. The play is a significant
description of the lifestyle in Greek at that particular time. God punishing those who do not obey him
was a common belief among the ancient Greeks. The fact that he was a king implied that he had to set
a good example by leading the people so that they can fear gods. The Antigone, is an example of an
ancient play where a lot of elements that can be seen on stage can be used to interpret and analyze the
Greek culture. Like in other Greek plays, masks were used in the Antigone to convey emotions and
capture themes in the play. An example is that masks worn by different people signaled political
power. The voice of the actor was greatly amplified by the shape of the masks. The audiences were
able to hear the actors when they were in masks. Moreover, the types of clothing in both The Bacchae
and The Antigone were a representation of the Greek culture. Stage in most ancient Greek plays was
composed of four main areas. The first was around place in which plays and acts were done. The
audience sat on the theatron , then there was the building behind the state which was decorated as a
temple or a palace called the skene , the last place was the passageways

Examples Of Kindness In Black Beauty
The book Black Beauty by Anna Sewell tells the story of a horse named Black Beauty by a few of his
owners. He grows up with good owners: a farmer, then the Birtwicks, but then gets changed into the
hands of owners who are more cruel, who get worse as time goes on. He then finds a good owner in
Jerry Barker, who treats him well yet must work him hard as a cab horse. Eventually, Jerry has to sell
him, where he finds the worst of his owners, until being bought and recovered, then finally sold to
people who knew him as Black Beauty, and determined to never sell him. The theme of kindness runs
through the entire book. Kindness is when someone thinks about the feelings of everyone else (not
discriminating between looks, actions, or social status), and makes a conscious, continuous, and
wholehearted effort to treat them well. Kindness is when people treat everyone with respect. In Black
Beauty, the creatures who are shown as good ones are kind to cruel and kind people alike. On page 8,
Black Beauty s mother told him not to say that it served a man right to die when he was hunting and
injured his horse (her other son), showing that she was kind to everyone, even those who were mean
to someone close to her. Some people would think it was okay, as long as they didn t insult them to
their face, but Black Beauty s mother shows how kind she is by not doing that. Since she also doesn t
reprimand the other colts for saying those things, she is kind to them as well, even though they are

The output parameters were the lift and drag co efficients.
G) Explain how the model (diagram, parameters, equations) relates to the purpose of the article. (How
was the model used to achieve the purpose ?)
Both output parameters (lift and drag co efficients) helped determine the effectiveness of the front
wing when compared to the output parameters of the other add on devices. Through the optimization
of the body area parameter (more specifically the area of the front wings end plates) of both equations
their respective co efficients were altered significantly. When the end plates area was increased, the
overall lift coefficient increased while the drag coeffiecent decreased drastically. This helped prove
that the front wing is a vital component to a formula one car.
H) Explain the mathematical simulation performed.
In CFD simulation, it is easier to optimize and change certain features in the design rather than
changing the shape of prototype in the wing tunnel tests. This is a significant advantage as it leads to a
reduction in time. Also, CFD can simulate and optimize sub components, which are affected by the
flow of air at high

I decided that, in light of the demise of the Squidoo website, which has been sold to Hubpages, I would review one of the books written by the site founder, Seth Godin. He has for years been a leading light in the field of motivational education, and you have to say that he has a kind of in your face style that demands your attention, which is perhaps one of the reasons why his work, and this volume The Icarus Deception are so interesting. He uses the title character whose determination to succeed led to his demise, as we all know in a fascinating illustration of his belief that, where Icarus is concerned, first appearances are very deceptive. The iconic fable tells that Icarus died because the wax in those melted when flying too close to the sun, but Seth Godin maintains that this could be interpreted as the unlucky lad being blinded by initial success, and failing to think things through properly. ... The Neanderthals According to the consensus view, the Neanderthals lived 250,000 to 30,000 years BP (Before the Present), they were very primitive, looked more like gorillas than men, led a short brutish life, and died on average at the age of forty five. According to my research, they were built more powerfully than modern Humans. Their thicker tendons and ligaments, attached to heavier bones, gave them superior strength, and the capacity of leaping high to hunt large animals. One of their back muscles, that Humans have lost, added tremendous force and precision for throwing an object such as a lance, or for handling a sword. Essay on Reality-Based Leadership ~ My Opinion Reality Based Leadership Review Though out this paper I will provide my opinion on how accurate Cy Wakeman s book Reality Based Leadership is in the workplace. I will attempt to provide my honest and professional opinion about the techniques Ms. Wakeman outlines in her book about leadership. In my opinion the Reality Based Leadership book is broken down into three main points which are; managing versus leading, leading your employees and yourself, and delegating your authority. During these topics I will summarize what the book talks about then analyze what was discussed and provide my thoughts about whether or not I think it is realistic or wishful thinking. Managing ... I see this practice as trimming the fat of the organization by terminating the ones who are only there to take up space and collect a paycheck. For this strategy to work in today s sue happy world you will have to maintain extensive records of your employees. You will have to sit down with each and every one of them and ensure they know what is expected of them within the organization or the team. By focusing on the top performers within your organization you allow them the latitude to make their own decisions for the tasks that they were assigned. This makes your job as a leader and a manager easier and makes the employees feel they belong to a higher purpose and the satisfaction that they are an integral part of the organization. It will also allow you to focus more on the development of others help them achieve higher degrees of satisfaction and possibly accelerate their career by getting promoted to higher positions within the organization. • 7. Growth of Mormon Church Essay On, April 6, 1830, a then 24 year old young man named Joseph Smith Jr. gathered in a small room along with six other people to organize a Church that would change American history. Since the age of 14, Joseph Smith had always been a source of contentment and ridicule by people of all social classes and religions. Ten years earlier, in the spring of 1820, this young boy declared that he had seen a vision, that he had been visited by both God, and His Son, Jesus Christ. This vision is a cornerstone of the Church that is known today as, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, nicknamed the Mormons , a religion that was built on the ideals of communal living and strict obedience to religious guidelines, a people that would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Mormon religion is tied to millennialism, or the belief that Jesus Christ will someday return to Earth and rule in righteousness for 1000 years only after there have been many catastrophes and much suffering. This belief served a purpose for Joseph Smith, it solidified him as a prophet, meaning as long as his followers would heed his words, also known as the revelations he received directly from God , they would be saved. Millennialism, or dooms day preaching was nothing new to the early colonists, Puritans as early as the 1600 s were convinced the end was near, greatly contributing to societies beliefs.# The Millerites were a very popular dooms day sect that was established in the early 1830 s, numbering nearly 50,000, they believed that the world would end in 1844, and Christ would return to rule.# Mormon religion was also founded on communal living, meaning that all members were expected to consecrate their possessions back to God, and every family would have their land and goods given to them by the church, dependent on their needs. Joseph Smith set up a system called the United Order to serve this purpose, and it worked well. The poor were able to get the provisions they needed for their family, while at the same time, the rich felt like they were admired for their sacrifices.# By the end of 1830, 9 months after it had been established, the Mormon church had a congregation of ... The 16th and 17th century society had parents connected to courtships, a very formal courtship, and ending with an Elizabethan Church wedding.. Back in the 16th and 17th century many things were different from how they are today, especially marriage and courtship. Back then parents had entire control over the courtship. A courtship back in the day looked very different from anything we have now. In the 16th and 17th century s normal marriage in England followed the Elizabethan Church wedding rules. Also it s the exact kind of wedding William Shakespeare had. Today s relationships and marriages are completely different than those of the 16th and 17th century. In the 16th and 17th century parents had control over the courtship and marriage of their children. Parents power over their children related even in courtships. Marriage of the children looked to the parents as nothing more than a trading of property. Unless the parents die, then the couple s town and church are in control. • 9. Summary Of Beast Of Waste And Desolation In The Beast of Waste and Desolation in Barry Holstun Lopez s book Of Wolves and Men, he writes about the attitudes he encountered from people when discussing wolves. These attitudes came from several different sources, ranging from several different Native American tribes and field biologists to ranchers, trappers, and general residents of the areas where he conducted his research. Lopez expressed his discomfort when he spoke with the latter group, as those people that felt there was nothing wrong with killing wolves, and that the practice, overall, was a good thing. Lopez writes that it seemed many of these people appeared to be filled with a general hatred; of government, laws, and wolves. The killing of wolves held a vengeful element, with no remorse or regret. He goes into detail of the single minded persecution of the wolf, even though many of the conflicts with wolves were man made. One example provided was of man depleting many of the wolves natural prey sources like elk and buffalo, and as a result the wolves turned to preying on the domestic stock instead. Suddenly, man was justified in killing wolves as it became necessary to protect livestock. The larger questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Taking a Look at the Movie Godzilla Godzilla Review Essay I like movies with a strong female lead. A girl that defies all limits and proves herself to be just as worthy as any man. That being said, I was a tad wary about seeing the new Godzilla movie. The only reason I went was because my boyfriend was very excited to see it and being the dutiful girlfriend I am, I went along with an open mind. My expectations were quite low, since this movie didn t fit in with my usual genre. I never anticipated to actually like the film. Godzilla is a wonderful film that everyone should see because it has a wonderful cast, great action, and amazing special effects. The film opens with the audience meeting the Brody Family. Joe (Bryan Cranston), Sandra (Juliette Binoche), and their son, Ford, who live in Japan. Both Joe and Sandra work at a nuclear power plant that is concerned about some unusual seismic activity. A tremor hits the plant, causing a breach in the reactors. Sandra is underground with the reactors and will be exposed to the radioactive chemicals if she doesn t get out in time. Joe races downstairs to try and save his wife, but she does not make it out in time and Joe must watch his wife die a painful death. Across the island, young Ford Brody watches as the reactor collapses, knowing that his parents are inside. Fast forward to the present day, Lieutenant Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor Johnson) returns home after a 14 month long deployment with the Navy. He is welcomed with open arms by his wife, Elle ... The girls are related; two sisters and a cousin. The story reveals the struggles the girls encounters while trying to run away from Moore River, which is a settlement camp where half caste native (children with both white and Native parents) children are educated on how to live with white population. When planning the escape, Molly knew that the fence ran from the north to the south. Therefore, she was sure it would lead them back home. In this context, the Rabbit fence symbolizes a map that would show them the way home. Throughout the movie the girls use the fence as a guide for their journey home. The existence of the fence is of great importance to the girls escape mission. Although the fence was built to keep rabbits out of the farmland, it became a symbol of repression, as when it was built, it kept Aboriginal people form interacting with the white population. It was a way of dividing and repressing the Aboriginal people. This is true in other parts of the world as well. For example, the government of Belin built a wall that physically and ideologically divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989. The Berlin wall divided families who found themselves unable to visit each other. Many East Berliners were cut off from their jobs. The Aboriginal families find themselves unable to raise or visit their own children. The flying eagle is another symbol in this film that has been exclusively embraced. The bird first appears to Molly and her mother at the beginning of the movie. Her grandma points towards the bird and says to Molly, See that bird? That s a spirit bird; he will always look after you. This scene shows the bird importance to the Aboriginal. Slowly but surely all the nations across the world have been impacted by Economic Globalization. India for example has been one of the countries that has been recently hit by the storm and India s economy can be seen to still be shooting up. In my paper I will be discussing the Economic Globalization of India, the roots of the globalization to occur, the effects it had and the negative effects it had. Effects such as foreign trade, economic growth and GDP. From the mid 90 s to current times India is seeing the effects of globalization, bringing India into one of the top countries in the world in terms of GDP being ranked at 10th in the world. The economic globalization in India began in the 90 s with the economic growth being due too advances in IT and business. One of the major forces of globalization in India has been in the growth of outsourced IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) services (1). The past few years have seen more and more educated people due to India s low cost of labor but educated and English speaking workforce. With economic globalization hitting India in the IT and BPO field it has allowed companies to expand their operations to India to take advantage of their massive growth opportunity. The ability for corporations to expand to India has enabled huge corporations to open up markets in India allowing for great success. Notable examples of international companies ... This obviously caused problems because church and state has their own authority. This made it difficult to decide which one has more authority. This especially causes feuds in the West, due to not agreeing on whom had the power. The East, however differed with the West in this. In the East their structure was symphonia aka they had harmony, between each to.(pg.129). Church and State worked together and the differences of power was not an issue. I actually agree with how the East dealt with church and state. I feel when it comes to political or religious agreements, you should collaborate and pay attention to how everyone thinks and feels. • 15. Ethics Of Patriotism Essay Comparative Ethics of Patriotism I. Introduction What is the moral worth of patriotism? Is there a substantive difference between the patriotism of totalitarian and liberal countries? Do the soldiers in those countries experience patriotism differently? In this paper, I will attempt to affirm the moral worth of patriotism, find the exact differences between totalitarian and liberal patriotism, and determine how this difference might manifest itself within the citizens of either country. Our paper structure will begin with using a common definition of patriotism, and will make an initial attempt to argue for a difference between liberal and totalitarian instances of patriotism. When this attempt fails, we will more clearly and carefully define patriotism, and explore the challenges in assessing its moral worth. Then, after a re conception of patriotism, we will return to the question of patriotic differences between totalitarian and liberal governments. As a final note to the reader, no specific moral theory will be employed. • 16. Predict Sex Is Better Than Postcranial Measurements predict sex was better than postcranial measurements. Additionally, sexual dimorphic features show large variation within and between populations (Keen, 1950; Acsádi, and Nemeskeri, 1970; Workshop of European Anthropologists, 1980; Ubelaker, 1984; Krogman and İşcan, 1986). Some sites on the skull have shown a wide range within sex variation making them less reliable for sex determination. For example, a projecting nuchal crest is typically associated with a male skull but can also appear on a female skull, similarly non projecting nuchal crests, typically associated with a female skull, can also appear on a male skull (Gulekon and Turgut, 2003; Klepinger, 2006). Yet, this and others, are still some of most commonly used sites for sexing. Keen (1950) expressed that because morphology is often related to size and robustness, determining sex is extremely difficult unless extreme features are expressed, such as a very small mastoid process that projects only a small distance for females and a massive mastoid process that projects a great distance from the inferior margins of the skull for males. Furthermore Meindl et al. (1985) and Walker (1995) have discussed that the morphology of sites on the skull of both sexes appear more masculine as the person ages, which would also hinder the accuracy of determining the sex of skeletal remains. Buikstra and Ubelaker (1994, p.16) also caution that estimation of sex can be difficult if the observer is not familiar with the overall pattern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over 50,000 miles were paved roads that allowed quicker and safer travel for the Roman army, officials, messengers, and trading of goods. The road system was much like modern day roads including mile markers, inns, restaurants, and protection. With a simple yet advanced design, Roman roads paved the way for Roman conquest and a superior authority throughout the Roman Empire. These roads allowed for faster and easier transportation, encouraging people to journey near and far. II. Issue History 1. Statement the Impact of the Problem The main problem is that some agencies within the Department of Veterans Affairs across the States have been rigging client schedules in an illegal fashion for different illicit, unprofessional purposes. One can only imagine the disorder that this practice causes. Not only does it wreak havoc on clients that are in need of a health care service but also provide, if not stopped, institutionalization of an illicit practice which in turn breaks down transparency and accountability. It is therefore important that policy makers and the new heads of the Department act as quickly as possible in order to make critical short term changes that will eventually make way for long term goals. One major consequence of this problem is that supervisors were asking staff to alter the scheduling sheets in order to meet the fourteen day goal required to attend a veteran (Cohen, 2014). In other words, fourteen days is the appropriate span of time that the local agency has to call up a veteran to provide him/her with the suitable health service. Both dynasties gained their success through a handful of varying ideas and strategies involving the economy, military, and social structures. However, one of the greatest factors that determined the respective dynasty s futures was their methods of political control. The Han Dynasty and Roman Empire agreed on some major aspects and ideas of politics, but also had diverging views on a few subjects. For example, one major topic both groups disagreed on is the form of government. Some examples of subjects they both agreed on was the focus on infrastructure and trade. One thing that most major political states throughout history can agree on is the importance of trading, not only within the state but with outside states as well. Both the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty were large participants in trade, not only within their states but with outside states as well. The Han Dynasty exemplifies this by showing their great amount of effort to get involved in the Silk Road. The Han Dynasty went to the extent of expanding the wall into the route of the Silk Road. Metaphorically speaking, this is the Han Dynasty s way of sticking their foot in the Silk Road and regional trade. He grows up with good owners: a farmer, then the Birtwicks, but then gets changed into the hands of owners who are more cruel, who get worse as time goes on. He then finds a good owner in Jerry Barker, who treats him well yet must work him hard as a cab horse. Eventually, Jerry has to sell him, where he finds the worst of his owners, until being bought and recovered, then finally sold to people who knew him as Black Beauty, and determined to never sell him. The theme of kindness runs through the entire book. Kindness is when someone thinks about the feelings of everyone else (not discriminating between looks, actions, or social status), and makes a conscious, continuous, and wholehearted effort to treat them well. Kindness is when people treat everyone with respect. In Black Beauty, the creatures who are shown as good ones are kind to cruel and kind people alike.
