China, A Home And Folk Remedy
The essay gives a synopsis of Chinese culture in terms of life processes, health and illness,
Maintaining wellness, causes of illness, traditional way of healing the cure, and the impact of cultural
background of health professional during treatment. The context of this essay will highlight the
concept of cultural stereotype and its influence on ones health due to the customs and beliefs. In china,
a home and folk remedy is a conventional way of treating illness and is preferred over the western
medical practices. (Dixon.B, 2009, pp. 4 5). Some orthodox Chinese communities assume that
incongruity of qi and yin and yang disturbs the health of people. (Dixon.B, 2009, pp. 4 5). The beliefs

The way people perceived life in China affect their mental health and illness.
Traditional Chinese practices have great contribution in maintaining wellness in china. The psychiatric
wellness is maintained when the activities of mind, body and soul combine together. (Dixon.B, 2009,
pp. 4 5). Natural recourses like hot springs and healing waters are required to maintain wellness.
Indeed, the conventional Chinese Medicine is cultural asset of wellness (Heung.V, Kucukusta.D,

Health and Illness is determined by the interaction between healthy mind, body and soul. In china, self
stigmatization is very common in people with mental illness. For example, Young and Ng (2015, p.

self stigma. Due to the unhealthy mind and surroundings, it is hard for people to recover from illness.

Organizational Models of Change Organizational change is occurring at an intense rate within modern
organizations, as demands to stay current with technology and marketplace trends are ever increasing.
Although knowledge exists amongst management and leadership regarding the need for change, the
ability to deliver the expected results of proposed changes often fails. Recent literature actually
suggests that failures are frequently attributed to the level of employee involvement and commitment,
and that employees actually play a major role in the success or failure of change within ... Show more

Three Phase Change Model and Communication Communication is truly the most central component
to Lewin s model. It is highlighted at each of the three phases, with lack of communication being a
barrier to successfully transitioning between phases. That said, it must not be discounted the impact
that strong lines of communication have on successful change initiatives, as high percentages of
change failures are often attributed to poor communication, thus hindering the transition process (Shin
et al., 2012, p. 727).
Harris s Five Phase Model Ben Harris developed a five phase organizational change model in the mid
1970 s. According to Harris, the phases are sequential; however, they often overlap one another
(Lunenburg, 2010, p. 4). The five phases are as follows: planning amp; initiation, momentum,
problems, turning point, and termination.
Five Phase Model: Role of the Leader Unlike Lewin s three phase model, Harris s model is less
dependent upon concrete leadership initiatives at each phase. For example, per the five phase model,
the role of the leader is accentuated most at phases II IV; posited by Lunenburg when he
acknowledged the importance of leadership at various phases of program implementation (Lunenburg,
2010, p. 5). During planning and initiation,

The Outbreak Of Yellow Fever
The outbreak of yellow fever ceased when the first frost of November covered the city of
Philadelphia. Out of the eleven thousand people that contracted the fever, around five thousand died.
The epidemic took ten percent of the city s population. The epidemic of 1793 was the first to strike in
a twenty nine year period. From 1793 to 1822, the fever ravished through the port cities of the nation.
Yellow fever was not caused by miasma in the atmosphere like the inhabitants of Philadelphia
thought. The actual cause of the fever would not be known until the nineteenth century. The United
States invasion of Cuba would lead to the discovery of the cause. A man named Walter Reed
discovered that the virus was caused by the female Aedes aegypti mosquito in the year 1900. It would
not be until 1930 with the work of a man named Max Theiler that a vaccine would be developed. This
thesis is a deviation from the historiography of the epidemic. It does not examine the epidemic as a
battle of doctors. It instead examines how the epidemic played a larger role in American
independence. Before the epidemic, the nation was strengthening its individuality by creating its own
medical school. It was a step in the nation s journey of creating its own structures that did not involve
the British crown. However when the epidemic began to break out, it was evident that the nation still
held to European ideas. John Morgan s Medical Department of the College would become the

From starting kindergarten to approaching to my graduation date, college has always been in my
mind. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of attending a university that will help me achieve my
goals and become the person I am destined to be. As I gradually become older, I searched for schools
that will satisfy my expectations. I began to discover what I want from a university; a place that can
help me succeed socially and academically, and help me determine who I am. I came across Baylor

It would be an honor to be of the few Nevadan students at the school for me. When researching Baylor
University, I discovered so many factors that influence my decision to attend there. One major factor
is the fact that Baylor University has smaller class ratios and the professors genuinely care about their
students which is a factor most universities lack. I want to expand my academic knowledge and obtain
excellent education opportunities. Another reason of mine is that there is school spirit and a sense of
tradition among the students. I grew up in a small town where our school culture and spirit is
incredibly popular. When I go off to college, I want to have the same experience again. My third and
the final reason is that I want to be part of a university that is rapidly growing and expanding. Baylor
University is slowly gaining national recognition. The University is also undergoing a more selective
acceptance rate which shows that the University is determined to accept students who are hard
workers and committed to Baylor. If I am accepted into Baylor University, it would be such an honor.
Although attending Baylor University would be extremely beneficial to me, there are so many

The African-American Civil Rights Movement
The African American Civil Rights Movement is arguably the largest and most successful push
towards toward change in American history. The movement was influenced by some of the biggest
figures in American history as well, led by Martin Luther King Jr. and influenced by others such as
president Kennedy and Johnson. Amongst the numerous protests and powerful speeches during the
Civil Rights Movement perhaps the most prominent is the series of three marches in 1965 known
today as the Selma to Montgomery marches. The Selma to Montgomery marches were a series of
three marches from Selma to Alabama s capitol in Alabama There were multiple goals and objectives
of these marches but the most obvious was to make the largest impact possible with a nonviolent
approach. These marches marked the pinnacle of the movement gaining national attention and even
the attention of president at that time Lyndon Johnson. Although there were numerous other marches,
speeches, and protests throughout the time period of the African American Civil Rights movement, the
marches from Selma to Montgomery are the most significant. The Selma to Montgomery marches
were the most significant but were not one of the first movements but rather one of the last as a
culmination of everything that occurred leading up to it. African American progression towards equal
rights can be traced back to the 17th century but events leading up to the marches from Selma to
Montgomery began in the late 1940s. A powerful and

Simple Epithelial Tissues
Epithelial Tissue:
Epithelial tissues line and cover the organs, capillaries and body cavities within the body. Epithelial
tissues can be broken down into four types: Simple Squamous, Simple Cuboidal, Transitional and
Stratified Squamous. Epithelial tissues are named first by their amount of layers they have, and second
by the cell shape.
Simple Epithelial tissues are composed of only one layer of cells, while stratified tissues are composed
of more than one layer of cells. Squamous tissues are flat as compared to cuboidal or cube shaped
tissues. The final tissue is called columnar, and these cells have a column like shape.

Argumentative Essay On Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy has been used since 1895 to create weapons that could destroy men by the millions.
Scientists later transformed this destructive weapon into a new form of usable, renewable energy.
Nuclear energy is energy created by harnessing the energy produced by the nuclear reactions that take
place inside the nucleus of the Uranium Isotope 235, ( Nuclear Energy ). Nuclear energy is one
attempt to decrease the rate at which nonrenewable fossil fuels are being consumed. Some believe
nuclear energy to be an environmentally friendly and self sustaining way to produce energy; however,
there are a countless number of social and economically risks to consider; ultimately, the detrimental
effects power plant leaks and explosions have on the human body, the cost it takes to produce the
plants, and the production of nuclear waste, should be enough to persuade one to turn away from using
nuclear energy as a source of power.
The fear of a nuclear power plants is reasonable, considering there were thirty three accidents between
the 1950 s and early 2000 s, (McInnes, Colin). Multiple incidents jeopardized the health of employees
and near by citizens. Six of these incidents happened in the United States, five in Japan, and three in
the United Kingdom and Russia. Thirty five liters of highly enriched Uranium solution leaked during
transfer, in the United Kingdom; more than 100 workers were exposed to one hundred and fifty

Knee Joint Essay
The knee joint is the largest and most complex in the human body. Being able to understand the
anatomy of the knee joint is a key factor in being able to identify the issues with the knee.
People all ages often suffer from knee pain. Due to the amount of things that can go wrong, by
understanding how the knee works, one can prevent new injuries and solve old injuries.
The knee is made up of two joints, the tibiofemoral and the patellofemoral. The tibiofemoral joint is
composed of the thigh and shin bones. The patellofemoral joint forms the kneecap. This type of joint
is called a hinge joint. This type of joint can bend, straighten and twist.
The knee is also a synovial joint. This means that the knee joint has a joint capsule. This is similar to a

The majority of knee movements occur between the femur, patella, and tibia.
Covering the bones is the articular cartilage. It is a hard and slippery substance that allows the knee
glide smoothly and to reduce friction as the knee is moved.
Between the femur and tibia is where one would find the meniscus. There are two menisci in the knee;
one medially and one laterally. The meniscus serves as a shock absorber of the knee. It is in a wedge
shape and is made of a tough, rubbery substance.
The knee also contains a series of tendons. The quadricep tendons connect the patella to the muscles
on the front of the femur. The patellar tendons connect the patella to the tibia. In addition, there are
also the hamstrings on the back side of the thigh. These muscles play a key role in stabilizing and

Debatable Administration rationale
The main reasons for the dismissal of U.S. Attorney were unclear. Some people suggested that the
administration wanted to make room for U.S. Attorneys who would be more sympathetic to the
governments political agenda, and the administration needed to advance the careers of promising
conservatives. The administration and its experts said that the attorneys were dismissed for job
performance concerns related to policy, priorities and management , and that United States Attorney

The United States Stock Market Crash
On October 29, 1929 the United States Stock Market Crashed. It was devastating. About 16 Billion
U.S. dollars went down the drain. I live in New York with my 2 brothers and sister: Jack, Daniel, and
Maggie. We use to live in a pretty upscale apartment. However,The depression hit us like a train. My
dad, Tom was laid off at his law firm right after the stock market crashed. He was desperate for money
so he began work in a textile factory. Unemployment rates skyrocketed from a mere 3% to 25%! My
mom, Jean, use to be a stay at home mom, but now works in a clothing sweatshop to put food on the
table. With such little pay we were forced to move out of our beautiful apartment into a crummy run
down tenement. Shortly after, my father lost his job at the Textile factory. It s 1931 right now and he
hasn t worked since. We couldn t even depend upon our savings. Thousands upon thousands of banks
were closed down, so we lost all of our money in the bank. My widowed aunt Celeste has also come
to live with us. Her husband committed suicide after losing all his money when the Stock Market
collapsed. My mom had to get a second job and make ends meet. But it just not enough. We were
evicted from our tiny one bedroom tenement. We now reside in a Hooverville. We barely have enough
money to put a little food on the table. My little sister has asthma and her medication costs a lot so she
s been sick lately. I mainly blame our financial situation on margin buying and President Hoover.

The U.S. Department of State and the United States Agency of International Development (USAID)
has published five strategic goals.1 Under these goals they have formulated a total of thirteen
objectives to give the strategy a more specific direction. In these strategic objectives there is
representation of Wilsonian, Hamiltonian, Jeffersonian, and Jacksonian ideals. Current U.S. foreign
policy certainly has a strong Wilsonian flavor. However, Wilson s theory alone does not accurately
portray U.S. foreign policy in the 21st Century. I will present examples of the other main political
policy ideals and practices (Hamiltonian, Jeffersonian, and Jacksonian) in twenty first century U.S.
foreign relations.
Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United States and held the office from 1913 1921. He
became known as the Crusader and earned the label for his passionate belief that America should be a
beacon of liberty and aggressively pursue the spread of democracy throughout the world. Wilson felt
America could prosper economically and develop a community of international security through the
promotion of democracy to other nations. In his book Diplomacy, Former U.S. Secretary of State
Henry Kissinger says, President Woodrow Wilson s foreign policy (Known as Wilsonianism), It is
above all to the drumbeat of Wilsonian idealism that American foreign policy has marched since his
watershed presidency, and continues to march to this day. 2

The Presidential Campaign And Obama s Administration
A key issue during the 2008 presidential campaign and Obama s administration was interest groups
and lobbyists. Obama had to deal with interest groups all throughout his presidency, whether it was
dealing with Congress or his interaction with committees. Over time interest groups have taken on a
larger and more important role in government. The interaction between interest groups and Obama
played an influential role in shaping his presidency. Special interest groups are a group of people,
usually formally organized that share a common concern and wish to influence public policy in some
way. The goal of all interest groups is to affect government policy for themselves or to further their
causes. A goal they have could be an exclusive policy that benefits group members or one segment of
society or a policy that affects a larger group such as the public as a whole. An example of an
exclusive policy is government subsidies for farmers and an example of a larger effecting policy is
improving air quality. The main method special interest groups use to accomplish their goals is
lobbying, which is trying to influence decisions made by legislators or other government officials.
Whether a government is democratic, authoritarian, or totalitarian, interests are a dominant and
permanent aspect of the political world. Furthermore, interest groups not only play a role on the
national stage, they exist at all levels of government: national, state, provincial, and local. Interest

The disadvantage to cutting costs is the 3,000 jobs that will be eliminated.
The spinoff of the Mobile Devices segment that was postponed will be a huge advantage to the main
corporation. However, the segment may not make it as an independent company, especially since it is
already failing due to 2008 s economical downturn. If the company can divide and become two
industry leading companies, as Greg Brown stated, the advantages will include increased flexibility,
more target investment opportunities, focused management and increased tailored capital structures
(Hitt, Hoskisson, amp; Ireland, 2011).
Investing WiMax technology was a strategic investment for Motorola. If the wireless technology takes
off, it may give Motorola the push that it needs to get ahead. Unfortunately, if the technology fails,
Motorola may not recover from their losses. The advantages and disadvantages are complete opposites
in this situation.
Strategic issues can be resolved by changing the design of the company s organizational structure and
strategies. Flawe3d strategies do not help the company with profitability. Motorola may be able to
balance the company if they update everything from style of management to their research and

1. To what extent did the Era of Reconstruction create a New South?
On December 8, 1863, approximately 16 months before the North defeated the South in the Civil War,
Lincoln issued a proclamation that laid out his vision of Reconstruction. For example, laws were
passed requiring Southern states to adopt new constitutions in conformity with the U.S. Constitution,
and to ratify the 14th Amendment and grant blacks the right to vote. This was a drastic change because
before the reconstruction era African Americans were slaves and were not allowed to vote. The South
entire society was impacted by the Era of Reconstruction from the way they lived to how they made a
living. The Reconstruction Era implemented various changes to the South as for as the workforce with
a great emphasis on cash crops the majority of the crops grown in the South were being imported.
African Americans also were giving the right to actively participate in the government. A Rise of

Those with insecure attachments tend to have lower relationship satisfaction compared to those who
are securely attached. Those who have a secure attachment style provide a caregiving role, their
behaviors are responsive and sensitive, non controlling and show interest during interactions. Secures
are affectionate with touch, enjoy physical contact (intimate sexual) and are willing to ask for support.
Individuals with an insecure anxious attachment are more self focused and always looking for
approval and support from their partner regardless of low and high stress situations. Anxious
attachment individuals are also over caring and hyper vigilant. Lastly, individuals with an avoidant
attachment value independence and have low levels of self disclosure. Avoidant individuals are less
likely to use touch to express affection and are uncomfortable with intimate sexual contact. In short,
being aware of your attachment style and your partners can shed light on marital conflict and possible

Conflict And Social Behavior Perspective
Introduction This paper will show how conflict and social behavior perspective play an important role
in Dasani s life (Hutchinson, 2015). The reader will have a better understanding of the perspective
through examples in Dasani s life. This paper will conclude with a reflection of the writer s future
profession in the social work field.
Conflict Perspective Defined Conflict perspective is seen through the lens of someone who has power
and seeks to oppress people with less power, sometime through discrimination or control (Hutchinson,
2015). Individuals who are not in the social work field would automatically assume that the conflict
involves a dispute between two individuals. An issue with conflict perspective is that it has the ...

Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning occurs;
classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning theory
(Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov s
experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning the
dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung
even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the result of a
reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements with
compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative reinforcement
involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive
social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations,
and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference between cognitive social learning
theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the individual to follow through with a
behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that a change in thinking can ultimately
result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015).
Dasani s conflict Perspective A reoccurring conflict throughout this case assessment is the mayor s
ignorance to the policies that he is

Carl Freud And Freud s Three Stages Of Development
The third stage of development in Freudian theory is the Phallic stage , which starts at the age of three
and goes on until the age of six. During this particular stage according to Freud, children are said to
take pleasure in their genitals and they also struggle with sexual desires, especially strong desires
towards their opposite sex parent (girl desiring her father and boy desiring his mother). This kind of
behavior in boys is called as Oedipus complex , which according to Freud means that the boys during
this stage desire their mother and want to replace their fathers, who are seen to be seeking the mother s
attention, because of this desire the boy is afraid that his father might find out and punish the boy by
the process of castration(cutting off the penis) due to which they may develop castration anxiety. And
the same desire called Electra complex which is the desire developed in girls for their fathers and in
the thought of replacing their mothers is discussed during later on by Carl Jung. This stage helps in the
development of Superego in life. The fourth stage of development according to Freudian theory is the
Latency stage , which starts at age six and continued until puberty or twelve years of age. During this
particular stage, the child s sexual desires than to subside and they start to additionally develop their
conscience or superego. They begin to act and behave socially accepted by learning appropriate values
from their parents or caregivers as their sex instincts are sublimated into hobbies, school activities, and
sports and they also start focusing on developing and maintaining same sex friendships amongst their
groups. The fifth and last stage of development according to the Freudian theory is the Genital stage ,
which starts from puberty to adulthood. During this particular stage, the sexual desire re emerges if
every stage was developed correctly. In this stage, adolescents join in appropriate sexual behavior with
their partners and develop a secure relationship which can later lead to lifelong commitment, marriage
and focus more on reproducing their future offsprings through sexual intercourse. During this stage,
individuals find satisfaction in their work and love. In order

Water On Mars
In the article Mars Shows Signs of Having Flowing Water, Possible Niches for Life, NASA Says
written by Kenneth Chang the central idea is that there is a probability of life on another planet other
than Earth. The reason this article is important to us is because with these findings, researchers will be
eager to follow up on the discovery so that we can find out if the probable signs of liquid water
flowing mean that life could sustain on Mars. For many years scientists have been interested in
knowing whether or not there is other life and if there has previously been life on other planets. With
this discovery, we are getting closer to coming up with possible answers.
In the past year, researchers have found probable signs of liquid water flowing on Mars surface, such
as waterlogged molecules, leading to the idea that Mars could possibly sustain life. Hydrated salt was
seen through the orbital camera, this is significant because hydrated ... Show more content on

Or why do we care that there could have been life before us on another planet? The answer is simple,
we know that water is essential to life, so water on Mars means life. Mars is the only planet that we
have discovered with signs of water, which makes this an important discovery. Mars is also very close
to Earth in the solar system, which makes this relevant to us. If we could find evidence of life on Mars
it is possible that we could use findings to our benefit, we could use this as a reason to keep looking
further into Mars. If the research of Mars continued, researchers could dig deep into the layers of Mars
and possibly find even more clues all leading to the hopeful discovery that life does live or has lived
on Mars. It is possible that one day in the future NASA will be able to send an astronaut to Mars.
However, with everything stated above, there still needs to be more research done to find out if life

Dear Advocacy Representative, As many of us know throughout history there have been many
inequalities that the world has been faced with; whether it is race, gender, or ethnic background. I am
writing you, the representatives for Equal Rights to discuss an urgent concern of American women in
the workplace. Although gender inequality is decreasing, it still exists and makes a lot of people suffer
its consequences every day. Gender inequality is unfair rights between male and female based on

This historic rise came about in 2005 and, since then, the pay gap has remained roughly unchanged.
Women as a whole experience the gender pay gap but there is also a racial pay gap. A woman makes
77 cents for every dollar a Caucasian man makes.
Last year when looking at median hourly pay, black workers earned $18.49 an hour. White workers
earned an average of $25.22 an hour. Caucasian women make about 75 cents to every dollar a
caucasian man makes. Asian women make an average of 85 cents to every dollar a caucasian man
makes. For black, Latina, and Native women, that number is significantly lower. On average, Latina
and black women who are low wage earners and work full time live below the poverty line. White
men who are low wage earners and work full time live above the poverty line.
According to the map from National Women s Law Center women lose $418,800 over a 40 year
career. That number is more than double from latina and black women. It will take years for the gap to
be resolved. In the U.S the gender wage gap is lower than it is in any country although there has not
being improvements since the 1990s. However, the contribution of men to household and childcare
has grown significantly in recent years, it is still far below women s contributions.

From the beginning, it s was clear that this man Neddy Merrill wasn t dealing with a full deck upstairs

George Orwell Politics
In theory, politics exist to balance the various needs of individuals and to moderate conflicts between
diverse interests. However, in reality there are no such ideal decision making system; all governments
have inefficiencies caused by manipulations, corruptions, and bureaucracies. George Orwell, in , has
depicted the non ideality of politics by sketching a highly controlled society in various dimensions. In
this essay, I will investigate how the Party maintains its power, in two scopes; through its extensive
manipulation and its inherent inequality combined with suboptimal standards of living. First, let s
observe how the regime manipulates its population. At the macroscopic level, the Party has Hate

Had the proletariat been equal with other classes, they would have thought and stood for themselves,
which would be a great threat to the Party. Also, outer party members were provided with low quality
goods and had a standard of living only marginally better than the proletariat, to make small privileges
of the inner party appear bigger and to induce loyalty. To realize it, the Ministry of Plenty and the
Ministry of Peace limit the supply of usable goods and exhaust any surplus, to keep the standard of
living low enough to maintain the Party s dictatorship. In conclusion, the previous investigations shed
light to how the Party holds its power; it eliminates opposition by brainwashing and tight surveillance,
and it stabilizes its power by maintaining a perpetually superior socioeconomic status to its residents,
especially the middle and the lower classes. But still, there is an open question. As Winston said, we
know how but we don t know why . Why the Party craved power and control to such harsh extent?
Although O Brien answered that the object of power is power, pure power, it is not a meaningful
answer because he himself is also brainwashed as an inner party member. Then why such oppressive
regimes originate even though humans strive for peace and equality? It is a fundamental conflict of
human nature between power, violence and equality, peace; which should be solved to leap one step

Trope In Enchanted
Adults historically love to glorify the idealism and emotionality of childhood through storytelling.
From Mark Twain s perennial wild boy Huckleberry Finn, who befriends a runaway slave despite the
prejudices of adult society, to Hiccup of the 2010 film How to Train Your Dragon, the only one of his
village who recognizes that dragons are not evil but actually kind animals, American media has no
shortage of children who are somehow able to see more than their adult counterparts. Patricia Read
Russell s 1983 essay Parallel Romantic Fantasies: Barrie s Peter Pan and Spielberg s E.T.: The
Extraterrestrial traces the echos of the 1904 play Peter Pan in Spielberg s then recent film, E.T. and
one of the parallels she highlights is this very concept. Russell borrows from Wordsworth in her essay
to concisely describe the trope of a child s ability to see more clearly than adults, referring to it as the
visionary gleam . Russell s essay underlines the presence of this trope in E. T. s protagonist, a ten year
old boy named Elliot, and in his bond with the title character, a friendly lost alien. Over twenty five
years later, the same trope is explored in Disney s parody film Enchanted but through the lense of a
young girl. The concept of the visionary gleam of childhood perpetuated by Spielberg s film and
Enchanted reflects an inherent desire of adults to return to a simpler, more emotionally driven period
of their lives which may or may not have actually existed, and this

Fracking Vs Natural Gas Essay
Fracking is good for United States because it is used for fueling vehicles, cooking, and heating houses
and offices; unfortunately, fracking is destructive to the environment as it contains many chemicals.
Natural gas is lighter than air and dissipates in an accident, which makes it safer than flammable liquid
fuel. Most models of natural gas cars get the same miles per gallon. Most spend a lot less filling up the
tank using natural gas than anything else. Natural gas costs about half the price of gasoline or diesel.
Another plus is the need to change the car s oil is less frequent because of the cleanliness of the fuel. A
regular gasoline powered car averages 32 miles per gallon while a natural gas powered car averages
43 miles per gallon. The natural gas used to fuel vehicles is a certain kind ... Show more content on

Natural gas has been found to be so much safer to use to heat a house than with an electric heater.
Heating a home with natural gas is much safer than heating a home with electric. Electric heaters are
known for catching fire, sparking, and burning. The most common thing electric heaters are known for
is shorting out and causing the electric sockets to burn. Electric heaters are not always the warmest
things they take a very long time to heat homes even if they re not all that small. Natural gas heaters
take less time to heat any sized home and heats the home almost 100% warmer. Natural gas is 120 to
140 degrees warmer than any other heat, can be used to heat water, and to heat your pool outside.
There are many reasons to love natural gas, it s easier to install and transport, its warmer, cooks faster,
and is better to use as fuel. One thing no one is told when natural gas is used is if it leaks and no one
knows the chance of getting carbon monoxide poisoning is very

Similarities Between Populist And Progressive Movements
Populist and Progressive Reform in American History Throughout American history, reform was
common among people of a particular, race, gender, or class used to accomplish change. The
emergence of the populist and progressive movements were a response to the changing climate in
American society due to rapid industrialization, an ethnically diverse personality of a young nation,
and birth of American imperialism. Disgruntled American farmers that wished to advance their
economic position initiated the Populist movement. Progressives pushed to improve urban labor

Discontented farmers, despite their passion, lacked the numbers to make a national impact. They
accomplished many of their goals, though most were not recognized as populist achievements.
Ultimately, class played a primary role in the apparent failure of the populists in comparison to the
success of the progressives. Despite the brevity of its existence, the Populist movement exercised a
profound influence on subsequent U.S. political life. Almost all the Populist demands, which at one
time were widely viewed as radical and contradictory to America s free enterprise system, were
eventually enacted into law. The Progressive Movement was an outgrowth of previous reform eras,
including the ideas first presented by the Populists. While many Progressives were originally anti
Populists, they eventually came to believe that the large corporations and other monopolies that they
were trying to reform were similar to the farmer s revolts against the railroads and commercial
practices and regulations of the government. As a continuation of populist ideology, the progressive
movement accomplished a great feat with the passing of the Interstate Commerce Act and the
Sherman Antitrust Act. The Interstate Commerce Act of 1887 created the Interstate Commerce

discrimination. Railroad companies were required to have and publish reasonable

The Perfect Concept Of Beauty In Edvard Munch s The Scream
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art. Therefore,
does that mean that all art is supposed to be beautiful? During the time of the Renaissance, the
objective of beauty is vastly different compared to modern beauty. Even so, the ideal concept of
beauty for women during the Renaissance era was to be nothing more than sensual. Women in
paintings during the modern time are genuinely petite. That is what most would consider beautiful and
all women strive to be in order to one day wife a wealthy man. The painting called The Scream, is a
piece of art that could debatably be considered beautiful. Thus, what really determines if art is truly
beautiful? Edvard Munch s 1893 modern art painting called The Scream is one of the most famous
paintings of all time. Edvard Munch s painting is famous for its bountiful colors, the effulgent sky, and
not to mention the individual screaming in anguish all alone on the never before seen, dock. Like
Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch went through his life struggling with anxiety and ultimately
insanity. The painter was not only troubled with this disorder through his own ways, but also
witnessed his mentally ill sister be hospitalized around the same time as the magnificent painting was
made. With this information, Edvard Munch created The Scream as an autobiographical picture. The
painting is considered to be an expressionistic construction of Munch s real life experience of a
horrific scream

The Poetry of Walt Whitman Essay
Walt Whitman is considered by many to be one of the greatest poets of the nineteenth century.
Whitman grew up in New York and was a member of a large family, having eight siblings. Only four
of these siblings lived to adulthood. His father was an alcoholic, which led to Whitman becoming
more like a father figure than a brother to his siblings. Whitman quit school at the age of eleven. He
then worked as a journalist, as a carpenter, as a teacher, and as an editor before focusing on poetry.
Whitman is most well known for his book of poems, Leaves of Grass. Whitman could not find a
publisher interested in his poems; therefore, he published them himself. Whitman rereleased this
collection of poems several times, each time with the addition of ... Show more content on

Whitman deplored slavery and was even fired from his job as an editor for his outspoken views on the
subject. Whitman saw Lincoln as someone who wanted to put an end to slavery and as someone who
would put his words into action. Whitman took a great interest in The Civil War. His brother served in
the war and Whitman volunteered as a nurse at an army hospital in Washington, D.C., where he
dressed the wounds of injured soldiers, as well as read to them, and wrote letters for them to their
families. Whitman gave lectures on President Lincoln almost up until his own death. Whitman was
greatly disturbed by the assassination of President Lincoln and wrote these poems as a tribute to him.
The most popular and the most analyzed of these poems is When Lilacs Last in the DoorYard Bloom
d. Laurie Lanzen writes, this is a poem whose rich and sacred beauty and rapture of tender religious
passion leave it unique and solitary in literature, and will make it the chosen and immortal hymn of
death forever (Lanzen, 544 ). Even though Whitman never mentions President Lincoln by name in the
poem, according to whitmanarchive.org, this poem was published in the fourth edition of Leaves of
Grass in 1867 under the heading President Lincoln s Burial Hymn (whitmanarchive.org). This has
come to be considered as one of the best poems ever written by Whitman. When Lilacs Last in the

Models of Organizational Change Organizational Models of Change Olympia Ross Grand Canyon University Organizational Development and Change LDR 615 Dr. Jerry Griffin August 14, 2013 Organizational Models of Change Organizational change is occurring at an intense rate within modern organizations, as demands to stay current with technology and marketplace trends are ever increasing. Although knowledge exists amongst management and leadership regarding the need for change, the ability to deliver the expected results of proposed changes often fails. Recent literature actually suggests that failures are frequently attributed to the level of employee involvement and commitment, and that employees actually play a major role in the success or failure of change within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5). Three Phase Change Model and Communication Communication is truly the most central component to Lewin s model. It is highlighted at each of the three phases, with lack of communication being a barrier to successfully transitioning between phases. That said, it must not be discounted the impact that strong lines of communication have on successful change initiatives, as high percentages of change failures are often attributed to poor communication, thus hindering the transition process (Shin et al., 2012, p. 727). Harris s Five Phase Model Ben Harris developed a five phase organizational change model in the mid 1970 s. According to Harris, the phases are sequential; however, they often overlap one another (Lunenburg, 2010, p. 4). The five phases are as follows: planning amp; initiation, momentum, problems, turning point, and termination. Five Phase Model: Role of the Leader Unlike Lewin s three phase model, Harris s model is less dependent upon concrete leadership initiatives at each phase. For example, per the five phase model, the role of the leader is accentuated most at phases II IV; posited by Lunenburg when he acknowledged the importance of leadership at various phases of program implementation (Lunenburg, 2010, p. 5). • 4. The Outbreak Of Yellow Fever The outbreak of yellow fever ceased when the first frost of November covered the city of Philadelphia. Out of the eleven thousand people that contracted the fever, around five thousand died. The epidemic took ten percent of the city s population. The epidemic of 1793 was the first to strike in a twenty nine year period. From 1793 to 1822, the fever ravished through the port cities of the nation. Yellow fever was not caused by miasma in the atmosphere like the inhabitants of Philadelphia thought. The actual cause of the fever would not be known until the nineteenth century. The United States invasion of Cuba would lead to the discovery of the cause. A man named Walter Reed discovered that the virus was caused by the female Aedes aegypti mosquito in the year 1900. It would not be until 1930 with the work of a man named Max Theiler that a vaccine would be developed. This thesis is a deviation from the historiography of the epidemic. It does not examine the epidemic as a battle of doctors. It instead examines how the epidemic played a larger role in American independence. Before the epidemic, the nation was strengthening its individuality by creating its own medical school. It was a step in the nation s journey of creating its own structures that did not involve the British crown. However when the epidemic began to break out, it was evident that the nation still held to European ideas. John Morgan s Medical Department of the College would become the University of ... It would be an honor to be of the few Nevadan students at the school for me. When researching Baylor University, I discovered so many factors that influence my decision to attend there. One major factor is the fact that Baylor University has smaller class ratios and the professors genuinely care about their students which is a factor most universities lack. I want to expand my academic knowledge and obtain excellent education opportunities. Another reason of mine is that there is school spirit and a sense of tradition among the students. I grew up in a small town where our school culture and spirit is incredibly popular. When I go off to college, I want to have the same experience again. My third and the final reason is that I want to be part of a university that is rapidly growing and expanding. Baylor University is slowly gaining national recognition. The University is also undergoing a more selective acceptance rate which shows that the University is determined to accept students who are hard workers and committed to Baylor. • 12. Argumentative Essay On Nuclear Energy Nuclear energy has been used since 1895 to create weapons that could destroy men by the millions. Scientists later transformed this destructive weapon into a new form of usable, renewable energy. Nuclear energy is energy created by harnessing the energy produced by the nuclear reactions that take place inside the nucleus of the Uranium Isotope 235, ( Nuclear Energy ). Nuclear energy is one attempt to decrease the rate at which nonrenewable fossil fuels are being consumed. Some believe nuclear energy to be an environmentally friendly and self sustaining way to produce energy; however, there are a countless number of social and economically risks to consider; ultimately, the detrimental effects power plant leaks and explosions have on the human body, the cost it takes to produce the plants, and the production of nuclear waste, should be enough to persuade one to turn away from using nuclear energy as a source of power. The fear of a nuclear power plants is reasonable, considering there were thirty three accidents between the 1950 s and early 2000 s, (McInnes, Colin). Obama had to deal with interest groups all throughout his presidency, whether it was dealing with Congress or his interaction with committees. Over time interest groups have taken on a larger and more important role in government. The interaction between interest groups and Obama played an influential role in shaping his presidency. Special interest groups are a group of people, usually formally organized that share a common concern and wish to influence public policy in some way. The goal of all interest groups is to affect government policy for themselves or to further their causes. A goal they have could be an exclusive policy that benefits group members or one segment of society or a policy that affects a larger group such as the public as a whole. An example of an exclusive policy is government subsidies for farmers and an example of a larger effecting policy is improving air quality. The main method special interest groups use to accomplish their goals is lobbying, which is trying to influence decisions made by legislators or other government officials. Whether a government is democratic, authoritarian, or totalitarian, interests are a dominant and permanent aspect of the political world. Furthermore, interest groups not only play a role on the national stage, they exist at all levels of government: national, state, provincial, and local. Interest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning occurs; classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning theory (Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov s experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning the dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the result of a reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements with compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative reinforcement involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations, and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference between cognitive social learning theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the individual to follow through with a behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that a change in thinking can ultimately result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015). During this particular stage according to Freud, children are said to take pleasure in their genitals and they also struggle with sexual desires, especially strong desires towards their opposite sex parent (girl desiring her father and boy desiring his mother). This kind of behavior in boys is called as Oedipus complex , which according to Freud means that the boys during this stage desire their mother and want to replace their fathers, who are seen to be seeking the mother s attention, because of this desire the boy is afraid that his father might find out and punish the boy by the process of castration(cutting off the penis) due to which they may develop castration anxiety. And the same desire called Electra complex which is the desire developed in girls for their fathers and in the thought of replacing their mothers is discussed during later on by Carl Jung. This stage helps in the development of Superego in life. The fourth stage of development according to Freudian theory is the Latency stage , which starts at age six and continued until puberty or twelve years of age. During this particular stage, the child s sexual desires than to subside and they start to additionally develop their conscience or superego. They begin to act and behave socially accepted by learning appropriate values from their parents or caregivers as their sex instincts are sublimated into hobbies, school activities, and sports and they also start focusing on developing and maintaining same sex friendships amongst their groups. The fifth and last stage of development according to the Freudian theory is the Genital stage , which starts from puberty to adulthood. During this particular stage, the sexual desire re emerges if every stage was developed correctly. In this stage, adolescents join in appropriate sexual behavior with their partners and develop a secure relationship which can later lead to lifelong commitment, marriage and focus more on reproducing their future offsprings through sexual intercourse. To realize it, the Ministry of Plenty and the Ministry of Peace limit the supply of usable goods and exhaust any surplus, to keep the standard of living low enough to maintain the Party s dictatorship. In conclusion, the previous investigations shed light to how the Party holds its power; it eliminates opposition by brainwashing and tight surveillance, and it stabilizes its power by maintaining a perpetually superior socioeconomic status to its residents, especially the middle and the lower classes. But still, there is an open question. As Winston said, we know how but we don t know why . Why the Party craved power and control to such harsh extent? Although O Brien answered that the object of power is power, pure power, it is not a meaningful answer because he himself is also brainwashed as an inner party member. • 30. Trope In Enchanted Adults historically love to glorify the idealism and emotionality of childhood through storytelling. From Mark Twain s perennial wild boy Huckleberry Finn, who befriends a runaway slave despite the prejudices of adult society, to Hiccup of the 2010 film How to Train Your Dragon, the only one of his village who recognizes that dragons are not evil but actually kind animals, American media has no shortage of children who are somehow able to see more than their adult counterparts. Patricia Read Russell s 1983 essay Parallel Romantic Fantasies: Barrie s Peter Pan and Spielberg s E.T.: The Extraterrestrial traces the echos of the 1904 play Peter Pan in Spielberg s then recent film, E.T. and one of the parallels she highlights is this very concept. Russell borrows from Wordsworth in her essay to concisely describe the trope of a child s ability to see more clearly than adults, referring to it as the visionary gleam . Russell s essay underlines the presence of this trope in E. T. s protagonist, a ten year old boy named Elliot, and in his bond with the title character, a friendly lost alien. Over twenty five years later, the same trope is explored in Disney s parody film Enchanted but through the lense of a young girl. The concept of the visionary gleam of childhood perpetuated by Spielberg s film and Enchanted reflects an inherent desire of adults to return to a simpler, more emotionally driven period of their lives which may or may not have actually existed, and this ... Another plus is the need to change the car s oil is less frequent because of the cleanliness of the fuel. Despite the brevity of its existence, the Populist movement exercised a profound influence on subsequent U.S. political life. The Progressive Movement was an outgrowth of previous reform eras, including the ideas first presented by the Populists. While many Progressives were originally anti Populists, they eventually came to believe that the large corporations and other monopolies that they were trying to reform were similar to the farmer s revolts against the railroads and commercial practices and regulations of the government. As a continuation of populist ideology, the progressive movement accomplished a great feat with the passing of the Interstate Commerce Act and the Sherman Antitrust Act. • 36. The Perfect Concept Of Beauty In Edvard Munch s The Scream As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art. Therefore, does that mean that all art is supposed to be beautiful? During the time of the Renaissance, the objective of beauty is vastly different compared to modern beauty. Even so, the ideal concept of beauty for women during the Renaissance era was to be nothing more than sensual. Women in paintings during the modern time are genuinely petite. That is what most would consider beautiful and all women strive to be in order to one day wife a wealthy man. The painting called The Scream, is a piece of art that could debatably be considered beautiful. Thus, what really determines if art is truly beautiful? Edvard Munch s 1893 modern art painting called The Scream is one of the most famous paintings of all time. Edvard Munch s painting is famous for its bountiful colors, the effulgent sky, and not to mention the individual screaming in anguish all alone on the never before seen, dock. Like Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch went through his life struggling with anxiety and ultimately insanity. The painter was not only troubled with this disorder through his own ways, but also witnessed his mentally ill sister be hospitalized around the same time as the magnificent painting was made. With this information, Edvard Munch created The Scream as an autobiographical picture.
