Child Observation At Maplehurst
In this assignment I am going to be discussing and describing a child observation that I have
done while doing my student teaching at Maplehurst. I will explain the strengths and weaknesses
of the child and also, the key developmental milestones based on Lev Vygotsky. The child I
observed is a 6 year old hispanic boy that comes down to the kindergarten Title I reading room that
I have been doing my student teaching in. Joey is the stage of early childhooddevelopment.
Children going through physical development are learning to control their body, usually meaning
muscles and physical coordination. Physical development in early childhood is all about learning
what their bodies can do. Their coordination and motor skills are also becoming more

Website Use Greatly Increases Knowledge of Breast Cancer
It is the second leading cause of death in the United States, killing thousands of people each year.
Cancer has certainly become a growing epidemic in our society, and breast cancer is one of its
most prevalent forms. One in nine women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, making it the
most common form of cancer in women, and for many of them, this will mark the end of their life.
This plague clearly needs to be taken under control, and organizations like the National Alliance of
Breast Cancer Organizations (NABCO) intend to do just that.
NABCO and other similar organizations aim to educate people about breast cancer in order to

take the user back to this page whenever they have gone elsewhere. Right beneath its name on
its homepage, NABCO writes its slogan: The more you know, the less you fear. These words
alone really seem to state their goal right away this is an informative and educational site.
Women who are educated about breast cancer are not only more likely to take the necessary
precautions to avoid developing the disease, but also are more inclined to know how to deal with
it if they do find this disease plaguing their lives. Therefore, educated women have less to fear,
making this slogan very accurate to NABCO s purpose. This slogan also does a lot to establish the
site s pathos appeal. Mentioning such an emotion as fear in conjunction with breast cancer causes
women to want to find out more about the disease in an attempt to avoid this fear invading their
own lives.
NABCO has been operating for seventeen years now, and, as it states on its homepage, is the
leading non profit information and education resource on breast cancer in the U.S. This statement
says a lot about NABCO s credibility, really developing its ethos appeal. However, it also says a
lot about the organization s purpose. Since it is a non profit organization, it is truly believable that
its sole intent is to educate, rather than

Macroevolution Research Paper
Evolution is the theory that various kinds of animals and plants have come from different species
that existed in the past. Merriam webster dictionary says evolution is a process of change in a
certain direction . Teachers friendly guide says that We study evolution to know more about the
world we live in today. Evolutionsummed up is change.
Precambrian time is most of the Earth s history, starting with the planet s creation about 4.6
billion years ago. There are many theories on how life began. Some people say there was a Big
Bang that happened 4.6 billion years ago. Scientist say that some chemicals collided with some
solar energy and then there was a big explosion that created the world we live in today. No one can

A worldview is someone s conception of something or a big picture according to oxford
dictionaries. There is speculation over new earth and old earth worldviews. People that believe
the new earth worldview believe in creation, that god created the earth. This worldview includes
that they believe in the flood and that is why we have certain extinct dinosaurs. A christian or
new earth worldview believes that the earth us only 7000 years old. The old earth worldview
believes that the earth is 4.6 billion years old. The old earth worldview believes it started with a
big bang . Unlike a new earth worldview, they believe a meteor came to earth and killed all the
dinosaurs, and they do not believe in the flood. They also believe the theory of macroevolution.
Most christians believe the new earth worldview. Christians should study this so they can give a
valid answer to an argument about the theory of evolution. Atheist believe in the old earth
worldview because they believe that there is no God. Even strong believing christians can
believe in evolution. C.S. lewis even believed in evolution. We are told in Genesis 1:1 in the
beginning God created the heavens and the earth . That is why we believe the new earth
worldview because we know that the whole word is inspired by God. There is many gaps that
where we cannot prove evolution is science fact, but one day we might close these gaps and we
will have to defend our faith. Colossians chapter

The Language Of War Is Killing Analysis
Every War Has a Reason
Did you ever take responsible for what you did? Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is claim himself as
American enemy in his article of The Language of War is killing . He takes responsibility for the
terrorist activity in 9/11, but he doesn t take himself like a hero. He uses the title The Language of
War is Killing to show the disagreement between him and America. According to Mohammed the
war between American and Arab Muslim countries are never stop until the U.S.A stay away form
Arab countries. Mohammed uses the same language to fight with America, but different style.
Mohammed gave us an example in his article of George Washington and Osama Bin Laden. He
sates George Washington is a hero for most Americans, and Osama is considered as terrorist, but

happen any time at any place, so the government of the country would not allow bad thing

Labor s recently finalized law regarding the definition of an Investment Advice Fiduciary . The
secondary focus will be on the company Robinhood Financial, LLC. 1.)Internal Performance
Robinhood Financial, LLC s values are modern, as is fitting for a new company. Their values

According to SEC records form X 17A 5 that was submitted by Robinhood on 02/23/2016, their

Realism In Theatre In The 1920s And 30s
In the 19th and 20th century, realism in theatre was a common occurrence. Realism is presenting a
person, thing, or event in its true colors ( Realism ). Even throughout the Great Depression,
Broadway and theaters managed to stay afloat. Its popularity began to surge, and there were 200 to
275 new shows coming out per year (Early 20th Century Theatre). Most of these shows were strictly
for entertainment. Themes were often romantic, about happy endings and true love. However,
some productions began to turn away from the stereotypes of shows during this time. In the 1920s
and 30s, shows became more extravagant and helped influence some of the most iconic American
productions (Theatre of the 20th Century and Beyond). As a result, shows like

Machiavellian Villain Research Paper
The Machiavellian Villain Shakespeare s early plays deal with historical moments from the
English throne. His morality and revenge plays can be seen as historical records of kings who
are legitimate or illegitimate to rule Britain. These plays represent the influence of Niccolo
Machiavelli s The Prince on Shakespeare. Shakespeare s early plays explore the idea of a
Machiavellian villain of Elizabethan drama. According to Charles Ross, the term Machiavellian
is used to describe the actions of a political leader who ignores claims of conscience and instead
justifies the ends by the means (317). The political leader is more concerned about his political
expediency that is above morality and takes advantage of his authority and power. Shakespeare s
Richard III considers as the most Machiavellian villain of the morality plays. Shakespeare
concentrates on the transformation of Richard into Machiavellian character because of the crown
of England. Richard is a significant figure in the historical plays whose behavior shows that he is
not only a Machiavellian villain but also a traditional vice figure. The traditional vice figure
usually is a personification of evil desires that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

becomes the devil who violates the norms of his religion and society. In addition, He determines
that he has no hand of being a villain, but God does not protect him from damnation. The play
shows how several people curse Richard and how he transforms into a Machiavellian villain

The Golden Bear Research Paper
2 of the greatest golfers in the history of the game, Jack Nicolas and Arnold Palmer, made an
impact on the game of golf like no other. Between the 2 of them, they have broken records, and
still hold records to this day. Jack Nicolas, also known as the Golden Bear , still hold the record
for the most majors won in a career, with 18 of them. Arnold Palmer, also known as the King , has
the 5th most PGA tourwins in history. Between the two of them they have won 25 majors. Both

Transitioning For A Child
The process of transitioning for a student who is approaching transition age is important because
a child is moving on to their next phase in life and that can be difficult, even for a child without
ID. However, a child that has ID needs to have steps and guidance in order to be prepared for what
is to come. A childwith disabilities will fail or even fall beyond if certain things are not in place.
In order for the student to succeed the educational system must provide transition services which
should be tailored to the student and their needs. What this looks like is having annual goals and
objectives in order to get to the annual goals. This will allow the student to be able to succeed. The

Absolute Dualism In The Twelfth Century
In the twelfth century the Catholic Church was challenged by the most serious and widespread
heretical movements of that time; Catharism. With a coherent body of belief and an organization
behind it, it became the symbol of a counter church . It grew slowly, but took a firm hold in
Langedoc. In the early 13th century followers of Catharism believed in a version of it known as
absolute dualism. Absolute dualism if the belief that there are two Gods without beginning and
without end, one good, the other, wholly evil. Absolute dualists believe that each God created
angels, and that the good God is almighty in the heavenly home and the evil one rules in all this

Catharism arrived in Southern France and Northern Italy in the eleventh century. In Languedoc,
Catharism was endorsed by local nobility and became a popular alternative to the Catholic Church.
In the coming years Louis VII of France and others used forceful intervention to try and stamp out
the New Church, and systematically eliminated any existing Cathars. By the year 1179, Catharism
was denounced. The Cathars believed in one sacrament, the Consolamentum, which is a ceremony
to remove all sin from the believer and to induct him or her into the next higher level as a Perfect.
This differed from the Roman Catholic sacrament of Penance, as the Consolamentum could be
taken only once. The Cathars refused the Catholic Sacrament of the eucharist, believing that it
could not possibly be the body of Christ. They refused to partake in the practice of Baptism by
water, believing that the water is material and corruptible and is therefore the creation of the evil
power, ad cannot sanctify the spirit. Catharism was revolutionary in their religious thinking and
therefore has an extremely important historical

Identity, Hegemony, And Played Through The Dynamics Of...
McIntosh (2009) offers an intriguing case study, where the concepts of personhood, hegemony,
and fractal recursivity are intertwined and played through the dynamics of Swahili Giriama
bordered ethnoreligious interactions. The Giriama geographical, social, religious, and linguistic
subordination to the Swahili Muslims is the framework to negotiate, resist or submit to the
hegemonic Swahili Islam. First, through personhood, the Giriama frame their religious actions
and relations with the Swahilis. Their actions are collective and caused by external powers,
rather than individualistically bounded and rational actors as the Swahilis. How Arabic in this
case is perceived amplify this notion, as Swahilis take it to be accessible via learning and
memorizing, and Giriama take it to be accessible through spirit possession by Muslim spirits.
This reinforces their submission and lose of identity by adopting Arabic (p. 255). Second,
hegemony plays a significant role in shaping how power is lived and replicated in daily life, to be
accepted or rejected by the society. Therefore, Giriama attitude towards Swahili Muslims is
exhibited in their refusal to submit to Islam and instead cherish their traditionalism, yet they
oftentimes acknowledge Islam s power and the potency of Arabic through divination and spirit
possession. Third, fractal recursivity is shown through how the Giriama s evident urbanity is
opposed to them living on the margins of the city thus closer to the jungle and their

Symbolism In Inherit The Wind
The play Inherit the wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee contains many abstract
symbols that give the story a timeless essence. We see these symbols through the ongoing conflict
between evolutionism and creationism. While exploring the conflict the reader gains insight into
how exactly ones right to think freely is forbidden through the town itself Heavenly Hillsboro . The
ideathat ones right to think freely relates to another symbol, the golden dancer. Through the
wooden play horse the reader learns that nothing is as it seems and sometimes one must look

The reader is first introduced to this concept by Drummond when he says, Bert, whenever you see
something bright, shining, perfect seeming all gold, with purple spots look behind the paint! And if
it s a lie show it up for what it really is! (110). The underlying message is that you should not put
faith into something because it appears to be great. This problem arose from the fact that the
townspeople thought that creationism was perfect. These beliefs were concrete until Drummond
started to pick at them. In a sense the beauty of the horse could be related to the outer shell while
the core would be evolutionism. In actuality creationism was this beautiful lie while evolutionism
was the ugly truth. This was applied to Brady because although at first it seemed that he was
towering over everyone with a built in spotlight in end it proved to be that Brady was nothing but a
fraud. The idea of Brady being powerful connects to the golden dancer because although the dancer
appeared to have substance like Brady in the end it only broke down. All in all this demonstrates
that without the golden dancer Brady s authority would not have been questioned resulting in no

Economic Commentary on Comcast s Prospective Acquisition...
IB Economic Commentary
Even in technology there are monstrous firms that are power thirsty and try to have the whole
market to themselves. Comcast wants to acquire Time Warner Cable for a $45 billion offer. This
is a disadvantage to the consumers because Comcast will have the position as the dominant cable
operator. Furthermore, that could lead to a decline in competitive pressure. Therefore, is it a wise
decision for the deal to be allowed to go through?
Monopoly is a single firm that controls the market of a given product. In a monopoly there is an
absence of competition, which results in high prices and inferior products. Because there is an
absence of competition and the firm has total domination of the market, the demand curve in the
entire market for the good is equal to the demand for the individual firm s output. A key
characteristic of a monopoly is the individual s firm downward sloping demand that shows that the
firm has some market power. Market power is the ability to control price without losing market
share. A monopoly s profit maximization is achieved when marginal cost equals marginal revenue.
Comcast is already a monopoly in a few states, but with the acquisition of Time Warner Cable, it
will obtain coverage of almost one third of the United States as seen in the map below (Graph 1).
With one third of the United States covered by one cable corporation, that leads to an absence of
competition. Therefore, we see in the graph below that Comcast will cause

Minor Characters In The Film Strictly Ballroom
In the film, Strictly Ballroom, there are many topics that can be explored. The topic/statement
that I will be discussing is: Perhaps the films greatest treasure is its cast of minor and other
characters, each of whom is a gem of observation and performance. With their plastic faces and
hired hair and their deluding sense of self importance, they convey an almost pathetic conviction
that all their actions are for the greater good. Of the minor characters to choose from I have
selected Barry Fife, Liz Holt and Shirley Hastings.
The first character we will be analysing is Barry Fife. This character is a very superficial, self
absorbed as well as overly obsessed with his appearance. During the course of strictly Ballroom
we notice that Barry wears a lot of blue which helps portray his cold, uninvolved emotional state.
He firmly believes that his way is the right way and shows us this by the video he makes which
is aptly titled only way to dance . His arrogance is revealed when he makes a statement saying,
Dance any steps you want, but you won t win. This statement shows us that he believes he holds
all the power and is the dominant figure in the ballroom dancing community. Barry seems to only
support likeminded people and the reason for this is because he fears the idea of ... Show more

Summary Of Too Many People Are Going To College
The standard way of thinking about college has often given the impression that education will open
doors. College is foretold to be the wisest choice a student can make to better their future with a
successful, high paying job. Yet Charles Murray, author of the article Too Many People Are Going
To College, introduces a controversial side to the argument, believing that the decision for students
to attend college is one of great importance, but the choice may be made too soon. Murray
emphasizes the reasons why this situation exists and continues to be proven true in today s society
with factors such as the misleading statements to students about college and the high academic
standards students must conform to. In discussions of Charles Murray, he expresses his opinion on
the thoughts and feelings that are being transferred to students before college, claiming them to be
misleading. Murray brings to light the problem that exists in the constant pushing of guidance
counselors, teachers, and even politicians to aspire for a college degree no matter what, treating
every failure to go to college as an injustice (Murray 48). Yet, by doing so, parents and students are
often blindsided by the overwhelming cost of college that many cannot afford, or the sheer amount
of education students would put themselves through for no reason at all. Murray observes that one
aspect of this phenomenon has been labeled misaligned ambitions, meaning that adolescents have
career ambitions that are inconsistent with their educational plans (Murray 48). Convincing
students that college is the only guiding light to a better life forces students to see college as such,
an intellectual heaven where they can become anything, such as a doctor or an attorney without
understanding the educational hurdles they must surmount to achieve their goal (Murray 48 49).
They then attend a four year universitywith the depiction of college as a place where B.A.s are
handed out fresh in their minds, thoughtless as to if that particular college they are attending even
has the educational requirements needed to complete their career goals (Murray 49). Unfortunately,
as Murray reminds us, this is the system that is in place. For a brutal fact

Senile Dementia
Dementia is a disease that has been characterized as a deficiency of permanent memory which leads
to a decrease in recent memory that can interfere with the ability to engage in professional and
social activities (Hamdy, Hamdy, Hudgins, Piotrowski, 2014). Even recent studies have shown that
dementia is not a part of the normal aging process, it has become a very serious and common
condition among the older population. An estimated 35.6 million people, with 7.7 million cases
diagnosed each year are affected with dementia according to the World Health Organization (WHO)
(Hamdy, Hamdy, Hudgins, Piotrowski, 2014). Dementia begins with failing attention and memory

Case Analysis Of Selfridges
1.1.Targeting
Targeting is a method of examining the market segments and follow all or any of the following 3
types: undifferentiated, multisegment (differentiated) and concentration (niche) (Palmer, 2009).
Selfridges products diversity means its target include both men and women aged 25 years belonging
to the high income group whose interest is fashion and luxury. Thus, Selfridgestargeting can be said
to be concentration (niche); however, due to its prime locations, Selfridges also attracts general
public including families, singles and tourist. Therefore, in that aspect, its targeting strategy is
differentiated.
1.2.Positioning and perceptual mapping
Customer perception of a brand is based on how the company positions its brand in the marketing to
generate that impression in their minds. This positioning is based on the company s market
position and its competitors positions.
Selfridges brand positioning is that of high price with high fashionability. Luxury department store
segment is highly competitive because products and brands available are similar and thus brand
loyalty serves as the differentiating factor. Harrods and Harvey Nichols are the strongest
competitors in that segment. However, Harrods is more high end oriented, while although Harvey ...

The Issue Of Legalizing Gambling
INTRODUCTION
Casinos are all throughout the country, but are they a positive influence for our society? Our
economy? There are people on all sides of this issue; some people have difficulty determining the
reasons behind legalizing gambling in the first place. In a panel data analysis done by Doug Walker
and John Jackson, gambling is legalized to offer other opportunities for states to increase revenue
(Walker and Jackson 1). This explains why legalizing gambling is important to state governments,
saying states need different revenue options and that gambling would help with an increase in
revenue for the states.
Other people on this issue wonder if casinos can be consistently relied upon for state revenue.
According to Forbes, the casino industry in Las Vegas has been decreasing because of the
recession from 2007 2009. Outside of the United States, the industry has increased over the past
few years (Forbes). This indicates that the casino business isn t as big as it was before the
recession. This has big implications on state revenues and budgeting. Global Gaming Business
Magazine is along those lines, saying two casinos in Atlantic City are empty; not enough supply of
casinos for the demand (Global Gaming Business Magazine). The recession has made significant
impacts on the industry and the industry can t keep up. And states need to be aware of these issues
so they don t make the same mistakes as Atlantic City. While they increased economic development,
Atlantic City did

The Met Essay
I joined the class for the trip to the Big Apple on the eve of Halloween. We departed from a
campus parking lot early Saturday morning. Our destination was the Metropolitan Museum of Art,
which is located at 82nd Street and Fifth Avenue. I had never been to the Met before and I was
very impressed. I wandered throughout the museum going from gallery to gallery until I was able
to find the two paintings that interested me the most.
The first painting to catch my eye was the Virgin and Child with Saint Anne, which was painted by
Albrecht Durer around 1519. The German artist lived from 1471 to 1528 and is considered by
many the greatest German Renaissance artist of them all. Albrecht Durer used an oil medium on a
wooden support to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The artist s palette had a fairly wide range of colors when painting this artwork. The use of many
different colors makes this a polychromatic work of art. He used a few warm colors along with a
lot of black and white. Most of the areas of this painting that are painted with warm colors are low
in saturation. This is shown in the clothing of the woman holding the child.
It seems the source of light comes from the top left hand corner of the painting. The light source
causes the three figures to have a high intensity level. This is shown on the child s face, which is
not only the focal point of this picture but also the highlight. Durer also used chiaroscuro to show
the depth in the painting. The shadow on the woman with the child makes the painting appear to be
three dimensional. After seeing how representational a painting can be I decided to take a look at
the opposite end of the spectrum.
The other painting I chose is titled Stepping Out. Roy Lichtenstein did this painting in 1978. He
worked as a commercial artist as well as a graphic designer before becoming popular as a Pop
Artist. Lichtenstein used a similar medium, which was oil and magna, but chose to paint his
picture on canvas instead of wood. While Stepping Out is still a portrait it is unlike Durer `s work
in that it is an abstract artwork. The male form in the painting is fairly realistic while the female
form is very surreal.
Lichtenstein also used

Understanding Spinal Cord Injuries Essay examples
Understanding Spinal Cord Injuries
Spinal cord injuries can be very devastating. First we will discuss the spinal cord s structure and
function. Then we will tell you how the spinal cord is most commonly injured, along with some
statistics involved and some signs of spinal cord injury. We will explain some changes to the body
after spinal injuries. Finally we will talk about some of the research in helping spinal cord injury
victims. The spinal cord is the final common pathway from the brain to the muscles. It controls all
the sensory inputs received from different locations throughout the body. The spinal cord also
controls voluntary muscle responses. Some elementary reflexes are local to the spinal cord, but

Nerves from each segment of the spinal cord connect to specific regions of the body. The
cervical region or neck are referred to as C1 through C8; they control signals to the neck, arms,
and hands. The segments in thoracic or upper back region T1 through T12 relay signals to the
torso and some parts of the arms. The segments in the upper lumbar or mid back region just
below the ribs, L1 through L5, control signals to the hips and legs. Last, the sacral segments S1
through S5 lie just below the lumbar segments in the mid back and control signals to the groin,
toes, and some parts of the legs. The effects of spinal cord injury at different segments reflect this
organization.(SC Basic Anatomy of Spine http://www.goes.com/billr/html

blow to the head or a fall; by traffic accidents, sports injuries, or violence. The consequences

Stereotypes In The 19th Century Essay
By the 19th century, it was purported that there were a number of changes in the world that had
taken place (Kasinitz, 1995, p. 7). There was evidence of a profusion of new goods and services,
mass communication and industrial strife (Kasinitz, 1995, p. 8). However even though majority of
the societies were urbanized, not all the citizens had access to these various luxuries. This is where
Mayne s argument about the imagined slums emerges when the stereotypes were established
through the means of media and the government. In this essay, the slum stereotypes written about
in the 2 extracts by Gissing and Bellamy will be explored. Moreover there shall be an attempt to
illustrate how the stereotypes are related to Mayne s argument.
Both the extracts portray Hoxton and Boston as areas that are poverty stricken. The authors manage
to set a gloomy atmosphere by the descriptions they use. Not only are these excerpts examples of
the authors imaginations, but they also portray slums as social abominations (Mayne, 1993, p. 1).
According to Mayne, slums are described as poverty traps whose entrenched inequalities questioned

In this case, the authors went on to describe the conditions that the other people were living under
in the alleged urbanized cities in the 19th century. However there could be an element of
exaggeration as the authors convey the idea that people of the working class live such horrible
lives. Not implying that the people don t live in poverty, but the negativity in the descriptions is
overly emphasized. Bellamy and Gissing could have used the slum stereotypes so that they can
enlighten the readers of the conditions that the working class actually live under. This is because
most of the people during this century were unaware of the reality such as Bellamy who only
realised the urban poor when he was 18 (Anon.,

The 5th Wave Character Analysis
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey is a young adult science fiction novel. The story follows a young
girl named Cassie as the world as we know it comes to an end due to an alien arrival. Yancey
makes many of his beliefs, about family, trust, and love, known throughout the novel. For example,
Yancey s story conveys that family is worth dying for, trust is imperative for survival, and love can
drive people to go on beyond their limits. Countless times all through the novel, the theme that
family is worth dying for is evident. From the beginning, Cassie s father shows this when the whole
familystays put in their house while Cassie s mother is sick. By staying there, they are all risking
their lives as it would be incredibly easy for the rest of them to become ill with the altered form
of Ebola. Later, Cassie s father allows her to leave the barracks to go look for Crisco in the
woods when he senses trouble. He could have volunteered himself instead, but he decides that his
daughter is worth dying for. Moreover, Cassie constantly puts her life on the line for Sammy.
Beginning when Sammy boards the bus to to Wright Patterson, everything Cassie does is a riskto
ensure his safety. Her level of determination first becomes apparent when she decides to face her
Silencer. While she is lying under the Buick, her promise to Sammy motivates her to go on. From
the moment she boards the bus to Camp Haven herself, there was an infinite sea of possibilities for
something to go wrong. Even

Although Spirit and Opportunity encountered plenty of setbacks, however, they were still able to
reach Mars on schedule (Goodrich et al. 2010).
Achievements of the Mars Exploration Rover mission are impressive. Spirit found evidence of
past water through its months long trek across different layers of hilly terrain at Columbia Hills,
as each layer consisted of clues to past environmental conditions on Mars (NASA 2013). More
signs of a wet past became obvious as the rover gained altitude. By investigating the composition
and texture of more than six different types of rocks, scientists identified that this area was once
a hot, violent place with volcanic explosions and impacts (NASA 2013). Marks on debris
throughout the area were formed by abundant water in the form of hot springs or other water
features. Mineral goethite which only forms in the presence of water was found to present in
one of the rock types (NASA 2013). Therefore, it signified the first direct evidence of past water
in Columbia Hills. Besides that, spirit s wheel scraped a trench in Mars surface soil as it
struggled up toward a ridgeline on Husband Hill, disclosing light toned material in which the salty
material had water molecules bound to the minerals, uncovering the watery pasts of Mars (NASA
2013). In addition, dust found in Gusev Crater by Spirit was found to consist of ferrimagnetic

of their choice, and develop and use applications of their own choice. This is sometimes, also
referred to as Net Neutrality or Network Neutrality .
b) FCC s idea of open internet.
On December 21, 2010, FCC adopted some rules to preserve the openness of the internet [4].
This Open Internet Order of 2010 divides internet access into two classes i.e., fixed line
providers and wireless providers. The order is more aggressive towards fixed line broadband
providers as compared to wireless providers. The rules were formulated to prevent ISP s from
carrying out unlawful practices in blocking the access to the content.
This FCC s idea of open internet follows three specific rules
1. Transparency:
FCC suggests that fixed and mobile broadband providers should publicly disclose accurate
information about the network management practices, performance characteristics, and terms and
conditions of their broadband services. The disclosure should contain all the information necessary
for the consumers to make suitable choices for buying content, service and application [5].
However, the service provider does not need to disclose any security information or competitively
sensitive information [5].
2. Blocking:
FCC suggests that fixed broadband providers should not block consumer from accessing any lawful
content, services, applications or non harmful devices. It also suggests

Uncontrolled Driving Technology
Drifting off to sleep while driving can lead to a vehicle drifting off the road. An uncontrolled
moving vehicle is dangerous and can cause fatalities, injuries, property damage, as well as legal
problems. Staying alert and awake is crucial while driving. Rolling down the car windows
creates wind in the vehicle and can keep drivers from drifting to sleep. Passengers or hands free
devices can allow the driver to maintain an alert state of mind by engaging in conversations.
Drivers of cars or trucks sometimes find caffeine helpful to stay awake. None of these are
guaranteed to prevent falling asleep behind the wheel, and if it is possible the safest solution

Impossible is an almost irrelevant word when creativity, determination, and technology are
combined with a common goal. Recent attempts to apply technical advances to preventing and
identifying accidents due to falling asleep while driving have shown promise, but have not been
able to go further than prototypes. Cameras are able to record eye movements such as frequency
and duration of blinks as well as the space between the lids of the eye. This can be used to
indicate the level of alertness (R. Schleicher, 2008). The science is in place to make advances to
an in car alert system for drivers, but it would be unlikely to see it on the market in the very near
future. Concerns from researchers noted that the signal would not be effective because the
device would not pick up on the fatigue of the driver until after the eyes were showing signs of
microsleep (lids staying closed for more than five seconds) and this would likely be too late. (R.
Schleicher, 2008) In addition, the cost of implementing a device is not one the car manufacturers
are going to want to pay for. Liability and privacy are more factors that I believe will prevent a
safety gadget of this type from being readily available to

The population of Vatican City, also known as the Holy See has approximately 840 inhabitants,
most of which are priests. Since we are the smallest country in the world and are led by the pope,

Tar Sands In Canada
Oil and gas usage because of tar sands is now considered the largest source of greenhouse gas
emissions in Canada, which means it actually produces more greenhouse gas emissions in North
America than all the CO2 from vehicles. The tar sands create both a noxious air quality, and a
polluted water quality with bitumen (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016). This issue, in relation
to Canada, is most problematic at the Alberta tar sands. The scientific consensus on this issue is
that the tar sands not only has become one of the biggest emissions problems in Canada, but also
that it has become a major health concern because of the misunderstood and unknown pollutants in
the air (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016; Dr. Gosselin, Dr. Hrudey, Dr. Naeth, Dr. Plourde,
Dr. Therrien, Dr. Van Der Kraak, Dr. Xu., 2010). There is also a general scientific consensus that
this change in the air quality contributes to climate change. This change in air quality also creates a
serious threat to humans. The tar sands impact ambient air quality and produces noxious odours,
which humans inhale and have the possibility to damage our lungs (Dr. Gosselin, et al., 2010).

Which provides for a credible market in the urban cities for CP to target. The other major reason
to target the sensitivity market is the rural population (Tier3 6). Majority population falls in this
category and sensitivity issue accounts for 25% of the people. This market segment has not yet
been targeted by other competitors and provides CP with an opportunity to target in the future.
CP will have to evaluate the positioning for each segment to determine how to target the
segment. Positioning is the mental picture that people have about a company and its products or
services relative to competitors (Grewal, 2014, p 234). In order to develop the positioning it is
important to have a positioning statement. It expresses how a company wants to be perceived by
consumers (Grewal, 2014, p 234). CP statement has been clear in India for a number of years. It
has used statements such as India s No. 1 Brand or India s No.1 Most Trusted Brand. While in the
sensitive market segment it states No. 1 toothpaste recommended by dentists for sensitive teeth.
Usually, firms position their products and services

Latin Culture Influence On American Culture
I had the opportunity and pleasure to attend the Latin Cultural event held in the event center located
in the Cunningham Memorial Library. The event was sponsored by the language department of
Indiana State University and featured many different items to look at culturally. At the event, there
were statues, posters, games, contests, and presentations depicting the history of the Latin culture
and influence that the Latin culture has had on our modern society. Latin has influenced our culture
in every aspect including fashion, music, education, law, technology, and science, and the Latin
culture appears to be alive and well in today s modern society.
The main feature of the event was a poster contest and featured over 20 posters on display that
were made by the students. The posters depicted various aspects of Latin culture, life, and history
along with background and facts to explain how the culture has influenced modern society. After
looking through all of the posters I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was amazed that almost every reference to the law that I have heard of is taken from Latin.
Terms, for example, alibi, subpoena, mens rea, are all Latin and have been adopted into our
modern legal system. The second poster I voted for was titled The Gods of Rome and featured
ten of the gods worshiped in Rome. What caught my attention with the names of the gods is how
we have used the names in every aspect of our culture, from naming planets to spacecraft. The
Apollo missions to the moon are the most memorable to me. The other aspect is the use of the
names in Astronomy, Jupiter, Neptune, Ceres, just to name a few. The third poster was about
Roman Chariot Racing. The picture on the poster reminded me of a modern day football stadium,
and the ancient stadium could hold over 150,000 people. According to the author of the poster, the
entry was free to all who wanted to attend and races were held every

Leadership Of The Church And Its Mission
This course has helped me prepare for ministry in the twenty first century by enlightening me in
areas and categories I knew nothing about. Hosea 4:6, My people are destroyed for lack of
knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest
to me: seeing thouhast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children . Knowledge
is powerful, and the desire to obtain it, especially when it s conducive to our walk of faith should
be something we strive to achieve daily. There are several areas in ministry, and church affairs that
I have a general knowledge of now, after taking this course.
The very first chapter Transformational leadership in a technological age in our textbook
captivated my attention. It gives an understanding of the church and how it s viewed. The
purpose of the church and its mission is information all believers should know and understand in
order to serve and lead effectively. I realize in order to minister productively and persuasively I
need to be abreast of the times in which we live. This world has changed drastically, and the
channels we use in order to minister to this dying world needs to as well, without compromising the
word of God, our standards, or our integrity.
This course allowed me to think differently about ministry and observe it from a different
perspective. Ministry is any platform and opportunity made available to you by God in order to
spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must

Who Is A Bad Rider On A Horse
It is hard to think about growing up when you are right in the middle of doing it. I sit astride life
like a bad rider on a horse. I only owe it to the horse s good nature that I am not thrown off at this
very moment. Although life does not come equipped with a how to manual, we write our text
along the way, thus resulting in our own handbook for the recently deceased. Within my text, I
write, live people ignore the strange and unusual. I myself, am strange and unusual. In order for
you to grasp my frame of thought I will need to prepare for a journey through my so called life.
As a child I would look out in the world and see that all adults were nothing more than a slave to
the wage. Rife with worry and stress combined with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I began to understand why Peter Pan did not want to grow up!
The day to day pleas and cries, desperation and regrets, anger and restlessness, the domestic
violence and abuse was the only life I knew. I found that the reality in my own head was more
pleasant than my actual family life. When you make a decision to have a child you re also
making the decision to take responsibility for the child. You don t abandon your obligation as a
parent because you have other plans. It was apparent that drugs gave my father more pleasure
than his four children did. The anger that ensued, I became the voice for my battered mother
saying all the things she could not bring herself to say. The words that manifested through me
were vulgar and brash full of hate and animosity towards the father I no longer wanted. I found
pleasure in demoralizing my father since he already defecated on the family we once had. To
twist the knife as it hit the bone by saying, why do I have to carry his name when I have nothing
but anger towards him for making us the only kids at a peer group absent a father when went to
counseling, for being absent a father when we had father s day at school. He is dead in my eyes
and my mother is my father. Out of four boys, I was the only one who lashed out and stood my
ground till my adult my life. I made my father fear me, but deep down I wanted nothing more than
to have a father.
Little did I know that this would be the

Analysis Of Modine s Security Standards For Manufacturing...
In the current global economy, companies continuously search to improve efficiency, reduce
overhead, and maintain positive financial growth. This search has led companies to look beyond
their traditional market horizons for expansion opportunities. For many companies this includes
establishing a strategic foothold in the international markets. Along with the challenges presented
by ordinary program expansion are the security concerns posed by access to foreign markets and
network as well as cultural and societal indoctrination. The purpose of this study then is to research,
identify, and propose methodologies for enhancing security, improving infrastructure and securing
intellectual assets domestically and internationally. Modine s... Show more content on

In 1912, A.B. Modine moved to Racine, Wisconsin, and became a principal partner in Perfex
Radiator (a predecessor to a company Modine Manufacturing would later acquire), where
Modine was actively involved in research, testing, and design of radiators. Following a business
disagreement with a silent partner at Perfex over how that company should be managed and
capitalized, Modine decided to establish his own company. A.B. Modine founded Modine
Manufacturing in 1916 to make radiators for farm tractors. He became president and treasurer
of the company, which opened a one room office adjacent to a small workshop in Racine. Soon
after opening his office, Modine developed the company s first major product the Spirex farm
tractor radiator a radiator core with a spiral fin put in the radiator cells which helped with the
product s heat transferability. Modine developed his business on innovation, a concept which is
still held and encouraged today at all levels. He started as small operation in Racine, Wisconsin
and has spread globally to be a leader in research, development and production of heat transfer
technology. Their first invention was the Spirex tractor radiator, using their developed innovative
technology they were able to dissipate heat from coolant by allowing air to pass through the device.

Website Use Greatly Increases Knowledge of Breast Cancer It is the second leading cause of death in the United States, killing thousands of people each year. Cancer has certainly become a growing epidemic in our society, and breast cancer is one of its most prevalent forms. One in nine women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, making it the most common form of cancer in women, and for many of them, this will mark the end of their life. This plague clearly needs to be taken under control, and organizations like the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations (NABCO) intend to do just that. The first tab reads home, which is the page that the site opens with, and clicking on this tab will take the user back to this page whenever they have gone elsewhere. Right beneath its name on its homepage, NABCO writes its slogan: The more you know, the less you fear. These words alone really seem to state their goal right away this is an informative and educational site. Women who are educated about breast cancer are not only more likely to take the necessary precautions to avoid developing the disease, but also are more inclined to know how to deal with it if they do find this disease plaguing their lives. Therefore, educated women have less to fear, making this slogan very accurate to NABCO s purpose. This slogan also does a lot to establish the site s pathos appeal. Mentioning such an emotion as fear in conjunction with breast cancer causes women to want to find out more about the disease in an attempt to avoid this fear invading their own lives. NABCO has been operating for seventeen years now, and, as it states on its homepage, is the leading non profit information and education resource on breast cancer in the U.S. This statement says a lot about NABCO s credibility, really developing its ethos appeal. However, it also says a lot about the organization s purpose. Since it is a non profit organization, it is truly believable that its sole intent is to educate, rather than ... • 9. Machiavellian Villain Research Paper The Machiavellian Villain Shakespeare s early plays deal with historical moments from the English throne. His morality and revenge plays can be seen as historical records of kings who are legitimate or illegitimate to rule Britain. These plays represent the influence of Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince on Shakespeare. Shakespeare s early plays explore the idea of a Machiavellian villain of Elizabethan drama. According to Charles Ross, the term Machiavellian is used to describe the actions of a political leader who ignores claims of conscience and instead justifies the ends by the means (317). The political leader is more concerned about his political expediency that is above morality and takes advantage of his authority and power. McIntosh (2009) offers an intriguing case study, where the concepts of personhood, hegemony, and fractal recursivity are intertwined and played through the dynamics of Swahili Giriama bordered ethnoreligious interactions. The Giriama geographical, social, religious, and linguistic subordination to the Swahili Muslims is the framework to negotiate, resist or submit to the hegemonic Swahili Islam. First, through personhood, the Giriama frame their religious actions and relations with the Swahilis. Their actions are collective and caused by external powers, rather than individualistically bounded and rational actors as the Swahilis. How Arabic in this case is perceived amplify this notion, as Swahilis take it to be accessible via learning and memorizing, and Giriama take it to be accessible through spirit possession by Muslim spirits. This reinforces their submission and lose of identity by adopting Arabic (p. 255). Second, hegemony plays a significant role in shaping how power is lived and replicated in daily life, to be accepted or rejected by the society. Therefore, Giriama attitude towards Swahili Muslims is exhibited in their refusal to submit to Islam and instead cherish their traditionalism, yet they oftentimes acknowledge Islam s power and the potency of Arabic through divination and spirit possession. This problem arose from the fact that the townspeople thought that creationism was perfect. These beliefs were concrete until Drummond started to pick at them. In a sense the beauty of the horse could be related to the outer shell while the core would be evolutionism. In actuality creationism was this beautiful lie while evolutionism was the ugly truth. This was applied to Brady because although at first it seemed that he was towering over everyone with a built in spotlight in end it proved to be that Brady was nothing but a fraud. • 17. Economic Commentary on Comcast s Prospective Acquisition... IB Economic Commentary Even in technology there are monstrous firms that are power thirsty and try to have the whole market to themselves. Comcast wants to acquire Time Warner Cable for a $45 billion offer. This is a disadvantage to the consumers because Comcast will have the position as the dominant cable operator. Furthermore, that could lead to a decline in competitive pressure. Therefore, is it a wise decision for the deal to be allowed to go through? Monopoly is a single firm that controls the market of a given product. In a monopoly there is an absence of competition, which results in high prices and inferior products. Because there is an absence of competition and the firm has total domination of the market, the demand curve in the entire market for the good is equal to the demand for the individual firm s output. A key characteristic of a monopoly is the individual s firm downward sloping demand that shows that the firm has some market power. Market power is the ability to control price without losing market share. A monopoly s profit maximization is achieved when marginal cost equals marginal revenue. Comcast is already a monopoly in a few states, but with the acquisition of Time Warner Cable, it will obtain coverage of almost one third of the United States as seen in the map below (Graph 1). With one third of the United States covered by one cable corporation, that leads to an absence of competition. Therefore, we see in the graph below that Comcast will cause ... He firmly believes that his way is the right way and shows us this by the video he makes which is aptly titled only way to dance . His arrogance is revealed when he makes a statement saying, Dance any steps you want, but you won t win. • 19. Summary Of Too Many People Are Going To College The standard way of thinking about college has often given the impression that education will open doors. College is foretold to be the wisest choice a student can make to better their future with a successful, high paying job. Yet Charles Murray, author of the article Too Many People Are Going To College, introduces a controversial side to the argument, believing that the decision for students to attend college is one of great importance, but the choice may be made too soon. Murray emphasizes the reasons why this situation exists and continues to be proven true in today s society with factors such as the misleading statements to students about college and the high academic standards students must conform to. In discussions of Charles Murray, he expresses his opinion on the thoughts and feelings that are being transferred to students before college, claiming them to be misleading. Murray brings to light the problem that exists in the constant pushing of guidance counselors, teachers, and even politicians to aspire for a college degree no matter what, treating every failure to go to college as an injustice (Murray 48). Yet, by doing so, parents and students are often blindsided by the overwhelming cost of college that many cannot afford, or the sheer amount of education students would put themselves through for no reason at all. Murray observes that one aspect of this phenomenon has been labeled misaligned ambitions, meaning that adolescents have career ambitions that are inconsistent with their educational plans (Murray 48). Convincing students that college is the only guiding light to a better life forces students to see college as such, an intellectual heaven where they can become anything, such as a doctor or an attorney without understanding the educational hurdles they must surmount to achieve their goal (Murray 48 49). They then attend a four year universitywith the depiction of college as a place where B.A.s are handed out fresh in their minds, thoughtless as to if that particular college they are attending even has the educational requirements needed to complete their career goals (Murray 49). • 25. The Issue Of Legalizing Gambling INTRODUCTION Casinos are all throughout the country, but are they a positive influence for our society? Our economy? There are people on all sides of this issue; some people have difficulty determining the reasons behind legalizing gambling in the first place. In a panel data analysis done by Doug Walker and John Jackson, gambling is legalized to offer other opportunities for states to increase revenue (Walker and Jackson 1). This explains why legalizing gambling is important to state governments, saying states need different revenue options and that gambling would help with an increase in revenue for the states. Other people on this issue wonder if casinos can be consistently relied upon for state revenue. According to Forbes, the casino industry in Las Vegas has been decreasing because of the recession from 2007 2009. Outside of the United States, the industry has increased over the past few years (Forbes). This indicates that the casino business isn t as big as it was before the recession. This is shown in the clothing of the woman holding the child. It seems the source of light comes from the top left hand corner of the painting. The light source causes the three figures to have a high intensity level. This is shown on the child s face, which is not only the focal point of this picture but also the highlight. Durer also used chiaroscuro to show the depth in the painting. The shadow on the woman with the child makes the painting appear to be three dimensional. After seeing how representational a painting can be I decided to take a look at the opposite end of the spectrum. The other painting I chose is titled Stepping Out. Roy Lichtenstein did this painting in 1978. He worked as a commercial artist as well as a graphic designer before becoming popular as a Pop Artist. Lichtenstein used a similar medium, which was oil and magna, but chose to paint his picture on canvas instead of wood. While Stepping Out is still a portrait it is unlike Durer `s work in that it is an abstract artwork. The male form in the painting is fairly realistic while the female form is very surreal. There was evidence of a profusion of new goods and services, mass communication and industrial strife (Kasinitz, 1995, p. 8). However even though majority of the societies were urbanized, not all the citizens had access to these various luxuries. This is where Mayne s argument about the imagined slums emerges when the stereotypes were established through the means of media and the government. In this essay, the slum stereotypes written about in the 2 extracts by Gissing and Bellamy will be explored. Moreover there shall be an attempt to illustrate how the stereotypes are related to Mayne s argument. Both the extracts portray Hoxton and Boston as areas that are poverty stricken. The authors manage to set a gloomy atmosphere by the descriptions they use. Not only are these excerpts examples of the authors imaginations, but they also portray slums as social abominations (Mayne, 1993, p. 1). Although Spirit and Opportunity encountered plenty of setbacks, however, they were still able to reach Mars on schedule (Goodrich et al. 2010). Achievements of the Mars Exploration Rover mission are impressive. Spirit found evidence of past water through its months long trek across different layers of hilly terrain at Columbia Hills, as each layer consisted of clues to past environmental conditions on Mars (NASA 2013). More signs of a wet past became obvious as the rover gained altitude. By investigating the composition and texture of more than six different types of rocks, scientists identified that this area was once a hot, violent place with volcanic explosions and impacts (NASA 2013). Marks on debris throughout the area were formed by abundant water in the form of hot springs or other water features. Mineral goethite which only forms in the presence of water was found to present in one of the rock types (NASA 2013). This issue, in relation to Canada, is most problematic at the Alberta tar sands. The scientific consensus on this issue is that the tar sands not only has become one of the biggest emissions problems in Canada, but also that it has become a major health concern because of the misunderstood and unknown pollutants in the air (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016; Dr. Gosselin, Dr. Hrudey, Dr. Naeth, Dr. Plourde, Dr. Therrien, Dr. Van Der Kraak, Dr. Xu., 2010).
