Loewen The Land Of Opportunity Summary
Loewen first main point is some high school history textbooks portray labor history and unions as
things of the past. The next point he makes is that some high school history textbooks neglect
examination of social class and depicts as a middle class nation full of opportunities for class mobility
despite the drop of middle class people and the widening gap between classes. Another main point
Loewen focuses on is that social class effects sectors of a person s life like their health, environment,
education, and financial opportunities. To appeal to his points, he primarily uses ethos and pathos
when he is trying to appeal to his audience. For instance, Loewen uses ethos to express his knowledge
about the subject by sharing his research results about textbooks and providing other peoples studies
to fortify his points about social class s effect on people. Loewen utilizes pathos by appealing to his
readers emotions by choosing language that expresses his displeasure of students having a limited
understanding of the classes by using words like half formed and naïve. Also, he uses pathos to appeal
to his readers emotions as he uses examples for the ways the class system effects people like when he
uses the two mothers to demonstrate the privilege one mother has over the other, which ... Show more

Loewen states They have no understanding of the ways that opportunity is not equal in America and
no notion that social structure pushes people around, influencing the ideas they hold and lives they
fashion (213). He supports his claim by illustrating the lack and misrepresentation of the social classes
in history textbooks and expounding how social class affects people from the womb to the tomb

Richard Branson s Leadership Style
Richard Branson is the founder of the conglomerate Virgin Group. He allowed Virgin to explode after
the beginnings. He started new ventures every second and incorporated almost every industry
conceivable into his company. His net worth is 5.2 Billion. Today, the Virgin brand is ranked second
among brands that have the greatest impact on consumer s lives. Virgin Group includes more than 400
companies worldwide and reaps over 24 Billion in annual revenue. It is involved in almost every
industry imaginable including planes, trains, finance, soft drinks, music, mobile phones, holidays,
cars, wine, publishing, and even bridal wear. Branson created a branded venture capital because most
of the investment comes from smaller companies or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No single venture is entered into blindly and the rewards are always measured out in relation to
potential risks.
4. Branding: Many people know the Virgin brand better than the names of the individual companies
within the group. This is the main reason Branson creates marketing hype by implementing extremely
provocative campaigns and it has worked to give the Virgin name immense recognition power around
the world.
5. Diversifying the company: Since Virgin sticks its hands into so many industries across the board, it
has a good chance of surviving even if the economy dips. For example, after the events of 9/11, airline
business suffered. However, the other ventures that Virgin stood for kept the company afloat.
6. Empowering talent: Virgin promotes almost entirely from within, so Branson takes this element
seriously. He gives his current employees seniority over outsiders and values their ideas and
experience at Virgin in working with new ventures. This is why he tends to put his current employees
on new projects.
7. Sense of community: Virgin Group entails hundreds of companies, but their relation is viewed as a
family and not a hierarchy. Virgin The company philosophy is that all of Virgin is a community with a
shared culture and value system.
8. Networking and Respect: Branson treats his friends,

Tulsa Race Riots Essay
Tulsa Race Riot
The Tulsa race riot changed the course of American history by actively expressing African American
views on white supremacy. Before the events of the Tulsa race riot African Americans saw the white
community taking justice into their own hands. Black citizens of Tulsa stood up against this sort of
white mob. This escaladed into the Tulsa race riot. The Tulsa race riot and its effects weighed heavily
upon the African Americans of this era.
The first event was with the Industrial Workers of World (IWW), where they were blamed by Tulsan s
in bombing the house of a wealthy oilman. It began on October 29, 1917 , when the home of a wealthy
oilman was bombed in Tulsa. There were little clues to be found but as Scott ... Show more content on

He was then arrested for shooting Homer Nida. When Belton was in the courthouse, thousand of white
citizens of Tulsa waited outside for Belton so that justice could be server for the kill of Homer Nida.
When Belton came out of the courthouse onlookers cheered as his captors shouted, We got him boys.
We ve got him. Belton was then taken to the Jenks road were he then was lynched by the white mob.
White supremacy in Tulsa during 1917 to 1921 was soaring, white citizen of Tulsa thought with events
of bombing a wealthy oilman home to the killing of a taxi cab driver that they should have take the
law into their own hands. African Americans were terrified in the white citizens actions. African
Americans felt that they would not get equal justice with the law, so African Americans had to stand
together against white supremacy and challenge their authority. Which leads into the events that start
of the Tulsa race riot. Dick Rowland work as a shoe shiner on Main Street. There were no toilet
facilities for the boot shiners, so the owner of the shine parlor where Rowland worked arranged for the
employees to use the restroom across the street on the top floor. So the morning of May 31, 1921
Rowland went across the street to us the bathroom. Dick Rowland got onto the elevator to go to the

The Definition of Religion Can Be Academically Useful
Many different religious scholars and theorists use some kind of a prehistoric humanity as proof or
evidence their works. The primitive is such a central concern for them because of the lack of evidence
of prehistoric civilizations. Thus making the prehistoric societies easy models to help prove their
beliefs and understandings on religion. In addition to this, another reason as to why prehistoric
humanity was so important to religious philosophers was because early theorist did not have the field
or study of religion. Early theorists where classified as anthropologists and sociologists in most cases;
and thus tended to bring in parts of their study into religion. Anthropologists study prehistoric
civilizations, they were very comfortable with that subject, which is why they used it to prove points
in their religious models. For example early social anthropologist E.B. Taylor used a concept called
The savage philosopher as his form of primitive life. When the savage philosopher wakes up and he
has no idea between being asleep and being awake, he was unaware of what a dream was. However
the savage philosopher was quite interested in his environment and the anomalies present in it.
However without any form of scientific methods the philosopher could not make sense of the
anomalies in his environment. Therefore, the pre human has to come to a conclusion for the oddity of
seeing himself elsewhere and seeing spirits of his dead ancestors. (All occurring in a dream) Thus the

Preventing Child Abuse Essay
People may not be aware, but any one of their peers, friends, or neighbors may be victims of child
abuse. Every day, someone experiences physical, emotional, neglect, and/or sexual abuse. Abuse can
lead to death or injury for the rest of a victim s life, from either the perpetrator or themselves. In order
to prevent child abuse society must: recognize the types of abuse, understand common causes of
abuse, know the characteristics of abusers, and realize the effects abuse has, not just on the child, but
on families and communities across the world. Child abuse prevention must first begin with
understanding the different types of abuse. The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA)
defines abuse as the motive, act, or lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that there are other ways for disciplining such as setting consequences for behavior that could
include time out, losing privileges such as: taking TV away, taking movies away, taking events away,
things like that, or creating behavioral charts for rewards systems. I think that they have better
advantages to them than actual physical punishment or consequences (Rehm n.p.). Pennsylvania
describes emotional abuse as an action or failure to act that leads to a mental injury of a child (Clark
352). It also includes refusing to give a child his/her treatment for medical illnesses. Emotional abuse
interferes with a child s ability to develop at the pace of their age level. Emotional abuse victims tend
to receive a limited or lack of attention or affection. They are also compared to others in a negative
way, constantly bombarded with insults and humiliation. Emotional abuse also includes allowing
others to verbally abuse the child (Smith and Segal 2). Pennsylvania defines neglect as the lack of
parental care or supervision for long periods of time (Clark 351). It also consist of keeping a
prescribed medicine from the child (Rein 11 12). Parents may fail to provide essentials of life such as:
nutrition, shelter, clothing, education, safety, and medical needs (Clark 185 190). Neglect occurs
within a family and often to young children not old enough to speak. Signs of neglect

Arranged Marriage Vs Love Marriage
The debate amongst love marriage and arranged marriage will never stop. That is not the goal.
Everyone goes about marriage a different way. Having the choice between an arranged marriage and a
love marriage is helpful for many people. There are many more advantages to an arranged marriage
than a love marriage. In the past, arranged marriages were the most popular, but modern times have
shifted the view to more love marriages despite the disadvantages accompanying it. Family is so
important. An arranged marriage is accepted by the bride and groom as they believe their elders are
able to make the best decision when it comes to who the marry. An arranged marriage focuses on
family union. This establishes trust amongst family members and automatically the new addition to
the family has immense approval, something a love marriage may not have. For example, say a
woman goes out and marries a man. She shows him to the family and they disapprove of him. They
say he is not right for her. This upsets the daughter and the husband, and creates a family divide. This
creates a situation where the woman must choose between two things she loves. This could all be
avoided by arranged marriage. Arranged marriages presuppose that two people are perfectly matched
because they belong to the same culture, share the same religious upbringing, speak the same
language, and raised in more or less the same socio economic class. These identical backgrounds
make it easier for the couple to communicate with each other and understand where each is coming
from. Decisions in the upbringing of future children and their education leave little room for
disparities in their thinking because of this likeness. The preapproval of the spouse solves a plethora of
unnecessary issues. Divorce is so common in America. It has gotten to a point that staying together for
life and honoring your vows is rare. This causes severe emotional trauma and is such a hassle. The
actual statistics for divorce in a love marriage in America is 45%. This is saying almost half of love
marriages fail. When you look over to the statistics of arranged marriage in India there is an enormous
difference. The percentage of arranged

Critical Challenges Facing African American Men
Critical Challenges Facing African American Men in Pursuit of the Doctoral Degree: What Institutions
Must Do Introduction [Build a case as to why this is a problem] Doug A severe underrepresentation of
Black male doctoral students and earned doctorates exist in the United States (Harper, 2010). Lack of
financial resources, poor academic preparation, absence of relationships with faculty, and low
motivation contribute to the disparity of black males with conferred doctoral degrees (Proctor, 2009).
The percentage of doctoral degrees awarded to African Americans has steadily increased in the past 30
years. However, African Americans earned only about 6% of all doctoral degrees awarded 2005 and

Harper (2012) connoted that more Black men are beginning to pursue PhD s experiencing a 109%
increase in post baccalaureate degree attainment. This evidence is a testament that Black men make
conscious decisions and efforts to pursue postsecondary education (Collins, 2012). Some of the goals
of schooling and society in the United States are to develop students and citizens, who have high
aspirations, believe in their capabilities, are hopeful they can realize their aspirations, and are
optimistic about their future in general. Such characteristics are important because each leads to
overall well being (Bandura, 1977; Scheirer Carver, 1985; Snyder et al., 1991), student achievement
and higher graduation rates (Snyder et al., 2002) through a personal sense of urgency which allows
them to take control of their life, challenge themselves, persevere through difficulties, and cope when
obstacles arise (McBride, 2012). Why Black Men Pursue The PhD Jamel Parent guidance, direction,
and encouragement provide a strong stimulus for Black men to engage in the pursuit of the PhD.
Harper (2012) asserted that Black men in postsecondary education are present because parents
consistently conveyed non negotiable expectations of obtaining a higher education degree. Harper
(2012) further suggested these parents predetermined there child would participate in higher

Moths Interpretation Essay
Nature is the most beautiful as well as the most dangerous thing. It offers a lot of threats as well as
wonders. The human is the humble creature who might only see the nature by its dark side. We are
living the inside world, and nature is outside. We think we are independent as we isolate ourselves.
Adam Zagajewski s Moths is a wonderful yet imagistic poem which captures a great sense of how
human observed and felt about nature: startle and tear away. It offers the readers a snapshot view of a
moment, an experience when our little worlds of safety met the unknown world outside. If one does
not prepare to deal with these things, he/ she will withdraw even more. The poem begins with a dark
scenery. The author and his group sit inside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe the Zagajewski intended to put the same sentences at the beginning and the end of the poem.
This created a continuing effect. Throughout the poem, the moths were still watching them. While the
human is growing more and more inside, the moths are still watching them. The author stated in
August because during this time period is the moths season. We can see them everywhere. Whenever
there is a light, they will fly toward it, try to get in and burn themselves. In the poem, the moths were
flying toward the bright light from the window of the author. They are pursuing something else, not
just the empty light rays. It was an amazing poem because by a simple moment, the author could
develop something deep and majestic, which brings the readers to a totally new

Analysis Of Educating Rita
Educating Rita: A Realistic Film From the Director s Perspective
Educating Rita is a realistic look at a woman s journey to change and find herself. The director keeps
the film simple while watching her overcome a lack of confidence and other obstacles. The film is
considered a comedy but is still a relatable story because the director represented Rita s character as
she really would be(dictionary.com).
Rita, real name Susan, is a young married hairdresser that wants to get an education. Frank is an
alcoholic literature teacher who is assigned to help her through the program she enrolled in. Both have
rocky relationships and the audience could easily assume they end up falling for each other(Maslin).
Rita has a thirst for knowledge but little understanding of what she is quoting. Rita makes new friends
and tries new things. She even marvels at how much she liked seeing Macbeth(Maslin). By the end of
the movie she gains an understanding of her education and passes her test with distinction. Through
this series of events both characters end up single, yet part in the same manor that they met(Maslin).
Lewis Gilbert, the director of the film, had the responsibility of using all the elements of film to
interpret the writers ideas(dictionary.com). In Educationg Rita he uses realistic lighting and very little
mood music to indicate how the viewer should feel during the scene. Another way a director can get a
viewer to feel a certain way or to focus on a particular conversation, is

Cause Of Mass Shootings
As most people already know in this year alone two of the biggest mass shootings in the United States
history. The two shootings that are explained are the shooting in Las Vegas, which killed 58 and
wounded 515 and the shooting in Texas which killed 26 and injured 20. You can also look at the
Orlando Florida shooting last year which killed 49 and had 58 wounded (Linnane). Shootings in
America have become more and more frequent, and it seems to some people that nowhere is safe. The
examples given were at a concert, a bar and a church. It seems that no matter where you go there is
now a risk of your life. Just imagine being in the shoes of someone who was in the Vegas attack.
Thinking that they will have a fun time when all of a sudden you see someone next to you drop dead
because someone has started to open fire. Everyone is in a panic trying to get to cover. You witness
people praying that they won t get shot as everyone piles up. How did this occur? Why are these
shootings becoming so common? Why do these horrible situations keep on occurring? Well, due to the
amount of guns in America, the lack of Mental Health Care, and the ease of obtaining a weapon, mass
shootings are increasing with more lives being lost.
It seems that one major reason for the mass shootings is the astronomical number of guns in America.
Max Fisher and Josh Keller state in a newspaper for New York Times says that America has 4.4

According to the Webster Dictionary, a tribe is a social division in a traditional society consisting of
families or communities linked by social, economic, religious or blood ties, with a common culture

belonged to that tribe. But I also belonged to the tribe of American immigrants. And the tribe of

1.1 Explain The Difficulties Of Using English Language
Transcriptional
Again using the standards of a year 6 pupil within national curriculum, it shows that in relation to
transcriptional areas it is clear that this child is quite confident with their spelling and handwriting.
There are more strengths than weaknesses. This child has the ability to spell words with a silent letter,
such as, like and would. Their ability to use homophones is clearly shown especially in words like
would, were, look and wear. However, it was noticed that this child struggled with the homophone
their and there, due to incorrectly using this in their writing e.g. this argument is about if their should
be rather than using there. In their writing only one spelling mistake was noticed, which was about,

Parts of the child s writing, such as, the grammar used could be overcome by teaching this as a whole
class, by year 6 children should write plausible sentences that make sense. Therefore, modelling to the
whole class a sentence which isn t clear and asking them to discuss why it is incorrect and what they
could do to improve this is a way to get children actively thinking and guiding each other s learning or
even allowing the child to proof read their work again to ensure it makes sense in their head before
carrying out the previous activity. To help up level punctuation, it would be useful to model a sentence
with punctuation including question marks, semi colons, dashes etc. and allow the child to use one of
their sentences, in order to up level that by using a variety of punctuation that is set at a year 6
standard within the national curriculum. The child seems to be quite confident with transcriptional
areas, apart from the few areas mentioned therefore to help with those particular issues, as a teacher it
would be an idea to just mark these areas or highlight them to make it clear that they are incorrect.
After the child has looked at the marking, talk it through with them to ensure they have a clear
understanding of how they went wrong and how to fix it. Allowing the use of a thesaurus and
dictionary will enable the child to use a bigger range of vocabulary or even allowing them to use
words from the national curriculum for year 6 to see if they could include some of these in their
writing, this will be a good way to influence a higher level piece of writing. After analysing this child
s piece of work and going through how they could improve, an idea would be to give the child another
writing frame which they

A promising new therapy for treating cancer patients, especially those with blood cancers, has come

immune cells from the body, modifying them genetically to fight the cancer, then reinserting them into
the body. This process takes about two to four weeks and has to be done entirely by hand by only
skilled professionals. The issue that has arisen is that the results in leukemias are especially promising,
with up to a 90% response rate. Lymphomas have also responded well, with up to 40% or 50% of
patients responding to treatment. This has resulted in high demand, but a limited number of patients

Continuous Sexual Trajectory Essay
Continuous Sexual Trajectory
In his Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis, Freud works inductively towards a theory of the
(sexual) mind. The lectures consider years of psychoanalytic experience and try to fit them into a
framework, in the process always slightly altering both the data and the theory. His primary interest
lies in the competitive interplay of libido the pleasure seeking unconscious part of the mind and the
ego the rational and socially constituted character who internalizes norms and tries to tame the libido.
The pleasure that the libido presses for is firstly sexual, but for Freud this expansive term indicates
any kind of pleasure derived from physical contact. Working from these terms, he tries ... Show more

Relying on an analogy with seedlings, Freud suggests that adults would not have the particularities of
their sexual lives without a root cause, and that origin must have been childhood. For Freud, the child
is necessarily a sexual being (403). It is unclear if he acknowledges other elements in the lives of
children, as he classifies many typical childhood activities as sexual, e.g. suckling the breast or thumb,
playing, and generally expressing themselves and their organs. It is safe to say that the sexual is at
least, in his theory, a significant portion of childhood (404). The original source of pleasure, in Freud s
experience (with mostly bourgeois Viennese patients), is the mother s breast, thus the first stage of
childhood development is the oral stage. The later switch to thumb sucking is only another expression
of this same urge to stimulate the erotogenic (pleasure creating) zone of the mouth. Children move
onto the anal stage when they enter conflict with their parents (or other adult figure) over control of
their excretion. Freud explains that children derive pleasure from excretion, and thus it is important to
them and a focus of children s (sexual) lives (407). Soon they mature to the final erotogenic zone, and
the genitals should thereafter serve as the exclusive source of pleasure. The gist seems to be that each
stage offers more pleasure than the previous, despite increasing

Lady With An Ermine Essay
Lady with an Ermine is a painting by Italian Leonardo da Vinci from around 1489 1490. During this
time on rebirth for the arts some artist decided to take a more natural and abstract view on art while
others (like da Vinci) still typically followed the realism route. With that being said his Lady with the
Ermine is a very interesting portrait painting. This beautiful woman is dressed in fine red and green
garb the contours of her clothing is soft and smooth and almost blends into her pale complexion. Her
face is deep and three dimensional, his use of shading and shadow makes her seem like she is standing

Her head looks very cropped, its improved the framing of the outer parts of the artwork. There is a lot
of negative space around her, in the background. There are some positive space in this artwork like the
ermine is a big part of the artwork, so if it wasn t there then the artwork wouldn t have any meaning
since its called Lady with an Ermine. Same goes for the Lady if Cecilia Gallerani wasn t in the picture
then it would remove the whole meaning of it being a portrait and again that its called Lady with an
Ermine. This artwork is a closed composition because since its a portrait, it shows everything that
needs to be shown in a portrait.
For this artwork there is no middle ground included. The reason is that I don t think he wanted
anything to appear far in the distance, because I think he just wants it to be a simple portrait without

Real-time Overlay of Map Features onto a Video Feed Essay
Cognitics, Inc. proposes a novel software system that combines a geospatial database and a 3D
simulated environment with technology developed by Lockheed Martin for targeting systems. The
new software system will be able to precisely identify the camera position and orientation for each
frame of video, and use that information to accurately overlay the video frames with a wide variety of
geospatial and map features. This technology can dramatically increase the situational awareness of
UAV pilots by displaying and/or highlighting the location of targets, troops, landmarks, or any other
item that has a geographic location component.

If the camera information is precise, there will be excellent correlation between the synthetic scene
and the scene from the video frame. When differences exist, ground control points will be generated
and a transformation matrix will be derived to determine a more precise camera model. By feeding
this precise camera model as well as a position computed using dead reckoning like position
predictions into a filtering algorithm such as a Kalman filter, we can integrate multiple data sources
for the most precise camera position information. This will allow the overlay to be precise even when
GPS signals are poor, or visibility on the UAV video feed is poor due to dust or clouds.
Using the precise transformation matrix, any 3D data can be accurately overlaid over the video frame.
Additionally, any pixel on the video frame can be translated back to latitude, longitude, and elevation
using the transformation matrix and the synthetic 3D environment.
Because of the accurate transformation matrix we obtain through our approach, it is possible to
overlay any geospatial feature, 3D model, or map content over the video frame. Features such as
controlled airspace can be rendered as a semi transparent 3D object in the sky. The data to be overlaid
is rendered using the transformation matrix to a pixel buffer with a transparency channel. That buffer
can then be overlaid on the actual video frame from the UAV and encoded back into a H.264 MPEG4
stream for display on any system

Mary Shelley And Emily Bronte Literary Analysis
The works of Mary Shelley and Emily Bronte have been delegated works of art for quite a long time,
and they hold a solid attach to the components of the scholarly periods that they were composed in.
What s more Frankenstein, composed by Mary Shelley, and Wuthering Heights, composed by Emily
Bronte, are both gothic fiction books. Moreover, both plots are both loaded with twists and turns
making a tension that is encased with gothic components. Shelley and Bronte both use high feelings,
extraordinary events, and climate to highlight gothic components while utilizing allegories and
striking symbolism to accomplish that.
All through their books, these two writers put an adoration story between embraced kin into their

Not So Sane Billy
Imagine having your whole mental health being completely obliterated from events you have taken
part in a World War. In the story of Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, this exact situation
happens to the main character, Billy Pilgrim. In fact, Mr. Pilgrim is crazed because his skills and
views including Tralfamadorians are nonviable. Also, Billy s episodes from the war have led to his
irregular beliefs. Although Kurt Vonnegut expresses that Billy Pilgrim knows a great deal about
Tralfamadorians, readers are meant to believe that he is completely insane. As a matter of fact, Billy s
various claims and stories clearly express how hysterical he actually is.
First, Billy claims that he has special inhuman characteristics that do not make any sense. Billy ...

Essay On Clinical Practice Vs Sporting Environment
Describe and compare working within a sporting environment vs a clinical practice
Sports rehabilitation is an interdisciplinary field where para medicals can treat patients within their
subspecialty. There are two potential fields that a graduated sports rehabilitator (GSR) can pursue:
clinical practice or a sporting environment. Clinical practice has a broader knowledge based on the
medical background which allows treating illness, injury and neurological issues allowing patients to
cope with active daily living (ADL) within a clinical environment accompanied with a plinth and
other rehabilitation apparatus (Comfort and Abrahamson, 2010). Oppositely, within a sporting

Clarke (2018) explored the different types of personality clients have and concluded four key titles:
dominance, influence, steadiness and complacency which apply in different complexities to each
client. Within a sporting environment professional or recreational, the GSR is the first responder to the
client and therefore the client has had no time to process the scenario at home and emotions will be
heightened; with this, these individuals will potentially show more dominance which branches out in
aggression and frustration due to not knowing the extent of the injury and whether they can continue
to play. However, within a clinical environment, these clients can understand their injury further as
they have an examination and a potential diagnosis given. These clients are more likely to express
traits of complacency as they strive to achieve their potential prior to the injury; they are likely to

Moses was a leader of the Hebrews and probably the most important figure in Judaism. He led the
Hebrew people out of Egypt and into the Promise Land. His story is told in the book of Exodus, and
begins when he was first born during the time that the pharaoh of Egypt declared that all male Hebrew
babies were to be drowned at birth. Moses mother Yocheved, hid Moses and placed him in a basket in
the reeds of the Nile River, where he was then found by the pharaoh s daughter, who kept Moses and
raised him as her own. In the story of Moses, he grows up and stumbles upon an Egyptian beating a

Moses was a humble man, but God sees that he is mightier than Moses sees himself. When God tells
him that he must lead the Jews out of Egypt, he grows fearful and unworthy of such a task. Moses
humility toward God is what makes him capable of such a tremendous mission. Although, he would
have much rather not lead the Jews out of Egypt because he is afraid and does not have faith in
himself, however, he is able to do it because God has told him to and God would not ask him to do so
if it was impossible. Moses successfully leads the Hebrews out of Egypt. Moses was capable of
freeing the Jews of slavery with a quality of humility (No Title, 1986). Being a leader is very
important when it comes to being successful. Like Moses, who was a natural born leader, it is
necessary for a President to be a leader. A President must possess certain qualities to make certain that
he will be successful in office. Leadership is a key attribute in order to be able to direct and be
followed by others. Any President would be grateful to have all the leadership qualities that Moses

In short this means that in order for a district to use public funds for the purpose of bettering a

accountable to its financial position before the district send public money generated by tax payers. As

Mediator As Impartial Third Parties
Mediators serve as impartial third parties who help settle disputes between people. Their role is to aid
in communication between parties seeking a resolution in some matter. To accomplish this, mediators
must build credibility with the parties involved in the dispute and must garner confidence in their
abilities from those with whom they are working. They are able to achieve this when they demonstrate
the expertise necessary to manage the process of communication between the parties and help each
understand the other s position and goals. Mediators gain this proficiency by understanding the
complexities that cause conflict. In system level conflict, matters become exacerbated by the number
of participants and issues involved. In order to effectively help resolve system level conflict, mediators
must understand the individual parts, and how they are interrelated and operating, in order to best
serve the collective unit. Royce Kellogg certainly is culpable for the mess in which he finds himself
while Susan Barlow also shares in that responsibility. Neither the client nor the consultant fully
understood the effort and level of involvement they needed to provide in order to achieve their goals

The Basis Of The Big Bang Theory
There has always been a stigma relating to The Big Bang Theory for me personally. I previously
before this class thought that believing in the Big Bang Theory meant I was against my religious
beliefs. But throughout this class, I gained the knowledge necessary to believe in both lines of
creation. The Big Bang theory now helps me belief stronger in my religious beliefs. As we learned
about the theory and dug deep into the roots of the universe I found myself learning to observe science
with a religious outlook and how to apply the science to my faith. The Big Bang theory was
introduced by Georges Lemaître a Belgian Catholic Priest in 1927. Lemaître expanded upon previous
universe knowledge by concluding The Big Bang from research in the Hubble Law. The basis of the
Big Bang is deriving from the redshifting of distant stars and galaxies. Redshifting is the change of
light which shows the chemical makeup, movement, and distance the particular star or galaxy is from
us. Using this knowledge Lemaître was able to conclude that the universe is expanding and other
galaxies are shifting away from each other. All the way up until the 18th century it was debated if the
universe was infinite or finite. This was put to rest when Hubble was able to view the universe more
precisely than others of his time. Within the theory of the Big Bang, it can easily be simplified. The
theory suggests that 13.8 billion years ago at a destination in the Universe in a state of extreme density

Negligence Law
In order to successfully establish General Motor s negligence, the product liability case must comply
with the following established principles:
1) Is there a Duty of Care toward the injured party?
Indisputably, General Motors has a duty of care. The responsibility of a manufacturer was established
in Donaghue v. Stevenson, (1932) A.C. 562, which established the principle that manufacturers have
the duty to ensure that the ultimate consumers of their product do not sustain injuries as a result of the
use of their products. Manufacturers of goods and services are subject to a high duty of care given that
these businesses commercially profit from the purchase and use of their products.
2) What is the standard of care that should be applied in this particular instance?
Once a duty of care has been established, the defendant(s) standard of care must then be determined.
In view of the fact that General Motors stands to commercially gain a significant amount of revenue
and profit from the sale of their products, these large multi national firms are positioned with a high

Newton s Laws of Motion
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same
speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force (Newton s First Law).
To determine if a person should run or walk, you will have to understand the Second Law of
Motion. The second law states that force equals mass times acceleration. In order for a person
of a certain mass to accelerate, that person must use some force, so the force must overcome
gravity, friction, and be larger than the mass of the person trying to move (Newton s Second Law
of Motion). If you want to walk or run you will need a bigger force (¶ 4). To walk is not as hard
as running, so less force is needed to succeed in doing it (Forester). This leads us to the third law
of motion, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction (Newton s Third Law).
Another concept of Physics is moving water. For example, flushing the toilet, waterfalls
and dams. Flushing a toilet is a great example of transferring energy. Usually on most toilets
there is tan on the back of it filled with water. Water that is stored is a great example of potential
energy and no kinetic energy. Once toilet is flushed, it gives the water momentum. From
waterfalls and dams we can produce hydropower. It is a renewable energy source that converts
kinetic energy from falling water into electricity. From the water momentum pushes against the

If a man have not order within him
He cannot spread order about him;
And if a man have not order within him
His family will not act with due order;
And if the prince have not order within him
He cannot put order in his dominions. (Lines 46 51)
In the previous excerpt of Canto 13, the three literacy terms refrain; anaphora and a hint of didactic
poetry are involved. The word and phrase order appear in every line of the excerpt. It is repeated to
not only get the meaning across, but to make a significant indent in the readers mind while reading the
poem. The hint of didactic poetry is shown in this poem, I believe, because Pound is telling the reader
without order you cannot do a few things such as spread order about him, family will not act, and one
cannot put order in his dominions. In a way, that is teaching the pros of order.
From this poem I can infer that Ezra Pound is stating that whether or not he is ruled by an imperialistic
power: everyday is going to be the same, for everybody. The last line Imperial power is? And to us
what is it? means that no matter government is enforced, their everyday life is not going to change.

yourself with holy water. Numerous years of Catholic School had not taught me this. I was too busy
worrying about blessing myself at all because of all the people squeezing in their Church time the last
mass before, well I m not sure what would happen if you missed Church, it never happened. The
dreaded Cannon Gillian had witnessed this and pulled my Dad aside and gave him a rollicking for my

Examples Of Interpellation In A Dolls House
The play A Doll s House (Henrik Ibsen) is centered around the lives of the antagonist, Torvald Helmer
and his wife Nora Helmer. Torvald is deemed as the antagonist based off of the belief that he is a
power hungry misogynist whilst his wife naturally becomes the protagonist, as her husband does not
treat her as an equal. The entire play itself is submerged in the issue of role versus role playing. In
many different aspects be it t he two sexual spheres right down to the society versus individuality. As

In essence he is an egomaniac he is selfish and lacks even a basic moral compass of how a woman
should be treated and is so caught up in what the public opinion is of him. In light of the society at the
time though his actions are quite justifiable and orthodox. Another classification of men versus was
women was that men were protectors and therefore supposed to take care of their household. After
Torvald became sick Nora took it into her own hands to deal with his illness and financial issues but
Torvald could not know of this, as Torvald is a man He has a man s pride. He would be so ashamed
and humiliated if he thought he owed [Nora ] anything. This is so because this is the role men have
been given in society whilst women on the other hand have been made to be subservient to men and
do as they say. Interpellation shapes Torvald s mindset and entire being and therefore acts as a domino
effect in the way that it ends up affecting his relationship with Nora, his wife. As a typical man would
he make it known that Nora is a wife and a mother before anything else. Without Torvald believes that
Nora is the submissive wife she should be, Nora makes a mockery of him and believes she can get
him to do anything she wants. This is proven when Nora tells Nils Krogstad to just tell [her] how
much [he] wants

  • 2. Loewen The Land Of Opportunity Summary Loewen first main point is some high school history textbooks portray labor history and unions as things of the past. The next point he makes is that some high school history textbooks neglect examination of social class and depicts as a middle class nation full of opportunities for class mobility despite the drop of middle class people and the widening gap between classes. Another main point Loewen focuses on is that social class effects sectors of a person s life like their health, environment, education, and financial opportunities. To appeal to his points, he primarily uses ethos and pathos when he is trying to appeal to his audience. For instance, Loewen uses ethos to express his knowledge about the subject by sharing his research results about textbooks and providing other peoples studies to fortify his points about social class s effect on people. Loewen utilizes pathos by appealing to his readers emotions by choosing language that expresses his displeasure of students having a limited understanding of the classes by using words like half formed and naïve. Also, he uses pathos to appeal to his readers emotions as he uses examples for the ways the class system effects people like when he uses the two mothers to demonstrate the privilege one mother has over the other, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Loewen states They have no understanding of the ways that opportunity is not equal in America and no notion that social structure pushes people around, influencing the ideas they hold and lives they fashion (213). He supports his claim by illustrating the lack and misrepresentation of the social classes in history textbooks and expounding how social class affects people from the womb to the tomb ... No single venture is entered into blindly and the rewards are always measured out in relation to potential risks. 4. Branding: Many people know the Virgin brand better than the names of the individual companies within the group. The primitive is such a central concern for them because of the lack of evidence of prehistoric civilizations. Thus making the prehistoric societies easy models to help prove their beliefs and understandings on religion. In addition to this, another reason as to why prehistoric humanity was so important to religious philosophers was because early theorist did not have the field or study of religion. Early theorists where classified as anthropologists and sociologists in most cases; and thus tended to bring in parts of their study into religion. Anthropologists study prehistoric civilizations, they were very comfortable with that subject, which is why they used it to prove points in their religious models. For example early social anthropologist E.B. Taylor used a concept called The savage philosopher as his form of primitive life. When the savage philosopher wakes up and he has no idea between being asleep and being awake, he was unaware of what a dream was. However the savage philosopher was quite interested in his environment and the anomalies present in it. However without any form of scientific methods the philosopher could not make sense of the anomalies in his environment. • 7. Arranged Marriage Vs Love Marriage The debate amongst love marriage and arranged marriage will never stop. That is not the goal. Everyone goes about marriage a different way. Having the choice between an arranged marriage and a love marriage is helpful for many people. There are many more advantages to an arranged marriage than a love marriage. In the past, arranged marriages were the most popular, but modern times have shifted the view to more love marriages despite the disadvantages accompanying it. Family is so important. An arranged marriage is accepted by the bride and groom as they believe their elders are able to make the best decision when it comes to who the marry. An arranged marriage focuses on family union. This establishes trust amongst family members and automatically the new addition to the family has immense approval, something a love marriage may not have. For example, say a woman goes out and marries a man. She shows him to the family and they disapprove of him. They say he is not right for her. This upsets the daughter and the husband, and creates a family divide. This creates a situation where the woman must choose between two things she loves. This could all be avoided by arranged marriage. Arranged marriages presuppose that two people are perfectly matched because they belong to the same culture, share the same religious upbringing, speak the same language, and raised in more or less the same socio economic class. These identical backgrounds make it easier for the couple to communicate with each other and understand where each is coming from. Decisions in the upbringing of future children and their education leave little room for disparities in their thinking because of this likeness. The preapproval of the spouse solves a plethora of unnecessary issues. Divorce is so common in America. It has gotten to a point that staying together for life and honoring your vows is rare. This causes severe emotional trauma and is such a hassle. The actual statistics for divorce in a love marriage in America is 45%. This is saying almost half of love marriages fail. Therefore, modelling to the whole class a sentence which isn t clear and asking them to discuss why it is incorrect and what they could do to improve this is a way to get children actively thinking and guiding each other s learning or even allowing the child to proof read their work again to ensure it makes sense in their head before carrying out the previous activity. To help up level punctuation, it would be useful to model a sentence with punctuation including question marks, semi colons, dashes etc. and allow the child to use one of their sentences, in order to up level that by using a variety of punctuation that is set at a year 6 standard within the national curriculum. Relying on an analogy with seedlings, Freud suggests that adults would not have the particularities of their sexual lives without a root cause, and that origin must have been childhood. For Freud, the child is necessarily a sexual being (403). It is unclear if he acknowledges other elements in the lives of children, as he classifies many typical childhood activities as sexual, e.g. suckling the breast or thumb, playing, and generally expressing themselves and their organs. It is safe to say that the sexual is at least, in his theory, a significant portion of childhood (404). The original source of pleasure, in Freud s experience (with mostly bourgeois Viennese patients), is the mother s breast, thus the first stage of childhood development is the oral stage. The later switch to thumb sucking is only another expression of this same urge to stimulate the erotogenic (pleasure creating) zone of the mouth. Children move onto the anal stage when they enter conflict with their parents (or other adult figure) over control of their excretion. Freud explains that children derive pleasure from excretion, and thus it is important to them and a focus of children s (sexual) lives (407). Soon they mature to the final erotogenic zone, and the genitals should thereafter serve as the exclusive source of pleasure. If the camera information is precise, there will be excellent correlation between the synthetic scene and the scene from the video frame. When differences exist, ground control points will be generated and a transformation matrix will be derived to determine a more precise camera model. By feeding this precise camera model as well as a position computed using dead reckoning like position predictions into a filtering algorithm such as a Kalman filter, we can integrate multiple data sources for the most precise camera position information. This will allow the overlay to be precise even when GPS signals are poor, or visibility on the UAV video feed is poor due to dust or clouds. Using the precise transformation matrix, any 3D data can be accurately overlaid over the video frame. Additionally, any pixel on the video frame can be translated back to latitude, longitude, and elevation using the transformation matrix and the synthetic 3D environment. Because of the accurate transformation matrix we obtain through our approach, it is possible to overlay any geospatial feature, 3D model, or map content over the video frame. Features such as controlled airspace can be rendered as a semi transparent 3D object in the sky. Their role is to aid in communication between parties seeking a resolution in some matter. To accomplish this, mediators must build credibility with the parties involved in the dispute and must garner confidence in their abilities from those with whom they are working. They are able to achieve this when they demonstrate the expertise necessary to manage the process of communication between the parties and help each understand the other s position and goals. Mediators gain this proficiency by understanding the complexities that cause conflict. In system level conflict, matters become exacerbated by the number of participants and issues involved. I previously before this class thought that believing in the Big Bang Theory meant I was against my religious beliefs. But throughout this class, I gained the knowledge necessary to believe in both lines of creation. The Big Bang theory now helps me belief stronger in my religious beliefs. As we learned about the theory and dug deep into the roots of the universe I found myself learning to observe science with a religious outlook and how to apply the science to my faith. The Big Bang theory was introduced by Georges Lemaître a Belgian Catholic Priest in 1927. Lemaître expanded upon previous universe knowledge by concluding The Big Bang from research in the Hubble Law. The basis of the Big Bang is deriving from the redshifting of distant stars and galaxies. Redshifting is the change of light which shows the chemical makeup, movement, and distance the particular star or galaxy is from us. Using this knowledge Lemaître was able to conclude that the universe is expanding and other galaxies are shifting away from each other. All the way up until the 18th century it was debated if the universe was infinite or finite. This was put to rest when Hubble was able to view the universe more precisely than others of his time. Within the theory of the Big Bang, it can easily be simplified. The theory suggests that 13.8 billion years ago at a destination in the Universe in a state of extreme density the ... Indisputably, General Motors has a duty of care. The responsibility of a manufacturer was established in Donaghue v. Stevenson, (1932) A.C. 562, which established the principle that manufacturers have the duty to ensure that the ultimate consumers of their product do not sustain injuries as a result of the use of their products. Manufacturers of goods and services are subject to a high duty of care given that these businesses commercially profit from the purchase and use of their products. 2) What is the standard of care that should be applied in this particular instance? Newton s Laws of Motion An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force (Newton s First Law). To determine if a person should run or walk, you will have to understand the Second Law of Motion. The second law states that force equals mass times acceleration. In order for a person of a certain mass to accelerate, that person must use some force, so the force must overcome gravity, friction, and be larger than the mass of the person trying to move (Newton s Second Law of Motion). If you want to walk or run you will need a bigger force (¶ 4). To walk is not as hard as running, so less force is needed to succeed in doing it (Forester). This leads us to the third law of motion, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction (Newton s Third Law). Another concept of Physics is moving water. For example, flushing the toilet, waterfalls and dams. Flushing a toilet is a great example of transferring energy. Usually on most toilets there is tan on the back of it filled with water. Water that is stored is a great example of potential energy and no kinetic energy. Once toilet is flushed, it gives the water momentum. From waterfalls and dams we can produce hydropower. The word and phrase order appear in every line of the excerpt. It is repeated to not only get the meaning across, but to make a significant indent in the readers mind while reading the poem.
