Charles Bukowski Research Paper
Charles Bukowski grew up in the era of the Great Depression where money was scarce for many
average American families. His father did not have a stable job and was thus, deprived of his
masculinity. To revive this lost virility, Bukowski was abused physically and mentally by his father for
much of his childhood, and when he started to face many struggles of a teenager, such as acne, he
began to question whether he was worthy of being loved or worthy of anything at all. These strong
emotions lead him to write very passionate novels detailing his experiences growing up. Because of
his difficult childhood, the content in his novels are typically cynical and pessimistic. This is common
for the Postmodern Cynicism books in which Bukowski s novels ... Show more content on

Society has always put physical attractiveness above all other characteristic. Ham on Rye displays this
when Henry pulls himself out of school for how he looks and when Henry gets bullied for what he
wore. Humankind has imposed so many societal standards to the point where, Severe depression from
acne has resulted in attempted suicide and, unfortunately, successful suicide. Worrying statements
include: I m worthless, (Collier and Oakley). Acne is a very common condition that occurs in most
teens during puberty due to the improper regulation of hormones throughout the body. However,
society has taught teenagers that it is unattractive and shameful. This causes teens to question their life
and in some cases, end it. Though Henry did not attempt suicide, he believed that he was worthless
and had no self worth. Though acne did play a large role in shaping Henry s adult life, the
development of his character began with his father s abusive behavior. In psychological studies
published by the Huffington Post it was found that, abuse was most strongly associated with
depression, general anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, attachment problems and substance
abuse, (LaBier). Henry (and Bukowski) exhibit these behaviors when his father was abusing him and
when his mother stood off to the side. His mother

The Influence Of Water Quality In Milwaukee
Any measure of a successful society low mortality, economic diversity, productivity, and public safety
is in some way related to access to safe water. Every day, safe water is available for eating and
cooking, bathing, clothes washing, and a myriad of other purposes (MMW, 2017). In America where
water is at just about every turn of a facet, we don t always think about how fortunate we are to have
amazing access to water. Subsequently, we are much less likely to think about what s in our water. The
Milwaukee area has a few different concerns pertaining to the water quality which effects Milwaukee

Minority Populations
Throughout Austin s history, minority populations were isolated through political acts such as A City
Plan in 1928, which wanted to make Austin beautiful so that involved removing minorities from the
area surrounding the capital. In addition, schools for minorities were restricted to just the East side to
force minority populations to move there. By the 1990 s, Austin was branded with the title Live Music
Capital of the World. This title gave rise to an economic and social boost to Austin, but by doing so, it
diluted the native culture into a hipster culture. In 1991, Austin was awarded the title Live Music
Capital of the World due to the fact it has the largest number of music venues for population.
According to Baker s article, Austin has 1 music venue for 4,125 people while the mainstream cities
like New York City and Los Angeles has only 1 music venue per 29,600 people and 1 per 16,380
people respectively. Austin s primarily strength as a music capital comes from its college city scene

shows that the music industry is mostly men. These statistics are interesting because it shows that the
Austin music scene is dominated by white males and that minorities are underrepresented in Austin.
This is demonstrated by the demographics that show the African American community is moving
away from Austin. Blues music is known for being black music and that white people tend not to play
it as well. In the Austin music scene, blacks tend to feel that the scene is inauthentic because whites

China s fast entry into Fashion World after the 20th Century
The dawn of the 20th century brought in many challenges in China such as cultural, political,
economic, and social. The social changes increased its push after the 1911 revolution which caused in
the passing of the Qing Empire. Social improvement led to amendment in dress codes as well. The
head shaving and queue (long plait) men had been compulsory to wear, to validate their subservience,
gradually vanished. The practice of foot compulsory also decreased.
Dr Sun Yat sen (Sun Zhongshan) was a Provisional President of the Republic of China. He is a the
father of modern china. He was also qualified with the development of a method of national dress
which personified modern values and the impression of equality. Dr. Sun Yat sen suit was developed
over more than 50 years ago . It was a compound combination of : Japanese Meiji period (1868 1912)
student uniform, soldierly dress and the Western suit. The below figure is illustrating that.

White Tailed Deer Suicides Analysis
When you think of a mammal who regularly kills humans, the white tailed deer does not come to
mind. Unfortunately, the white tailed deer often jumps in front of vehicles, causing more than one
million collisions resulting in over two hundred deaths a year. In James Gorman s article, he
persuaded me that by bringing the eastern cougar back to its original home, the number of deaths
would significantly reduce. He explains both the benefits and downsides of cougars returning to their

Hypovolemic Shock Case Study
Hypovolemic shock is an emergency condition caused by loss of whole blood (hemorrhage), plasma
(burns), or interstitial fluid (diaphoresis, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, emesis, diuresis, and
diarrhea) in large amounts. This makes the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body (Heller,
2014). The severe compromise in blood flow and therefore systemic perfusion contributes to cerebral,
renal, or hepatic ischemia and possible organ failure. It is the most common type of shock in children
with dehydration and trauma being the most common factors (McCance, 2010. pp 1703).
Pathophysiology
Hypovolemic shock begins to develop after losing about a fifth or more of the normal amount of blood
in the body resulting in compensatory vasoconstriction, increased SVR (systemic vascular resistance)
and increased afterload in order to improve blood pressure and perfusion to core organs of the body
(Heller, 2014) (McCance, 2010. pp 1672). Compensatory mechanisms have limited use and benefit.
Hypovolemic compensations:
Systemic vasoconstriction increases left ventricular afterload and myocardial oxygen consumption and
may produce tissue ischemia.
Prolonged tachycardia may impair subendocardial blood flow and increase myocardial oxygen
consumption; both may ultimately contribute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persuasive Ristorante Research Paper
It may have taken me a while to find the right place but I ve officially found it! Matteo s Ristorante is
a family style Italian restaurant in Boca Raton, Florida with a comfortable atmosphere and delicious
food. As you walk into the restaurant your nose becomes overwhelmed with mouth watering smells,
you are greeted by friendly and sociable hosts, and the sounds of chatter and dishes clanking fill your
senses. The velvet cushions on the chairs, spacious tables and TV s that entertain sports fans make the
atmosphere relaxing and entertaining. Matteo s three best dishes include the baked clams as an
appetizer, the creamy penne ala vodka as an entrée, and the cold vanilla ice cream with chocolate hard
shell for desert.
Golden brown baked clams are the perfect introduction to your delectable meal. The chewy, salty,
succulent clam creates a burst of flavors when eating. The crunchy, savory, and deep fried breading

Sherman Alexie Metaphors
In his essay, Alexie is showing how his childhood struggles made him the man he s today, He was told
time and time again that he was going to get nowhere in life and would be another stereotypical Indian
boy expected to fail. Instead of being weak and caving to peer pressure, Alexie overcame and proved
that he was more than just a stereotypical indina boy, Furthermore, His message is to disslove the
sterotypes that all indian children are unintelligent as well as to encourage his readers that education is
reachable and you just have to apply yourselves to achieve it, regardless of the circumstances (63 66).

These repeated words, phrases, and ideas bring home the theme of essay to the readers. The paragraph

in a formal sense, he described them as being a fence that held words. This helps his readers

Analysis Of The Novel American Psycho By Bret Easton...
In the novel American Psycho written by Bret Easton Ellis, the protagonist Patrick Bateman uses his
wealth and violence which are exemplified in scenes involving the murder of his ex girlfriend
Bethany. As well as appealing to the idea to maintain his image by any means such as purchasing
expensive merchandises and taking the initiative to attend upscale restaurants. His actions with the
implications of those elements reveal the consumptions of status and privilege. The detailed narration
of Bateman s intense violent acts and purchases of expensive products creates imaginary and conflict
for readers to accept as true the impression he is trying to demonstrate to the general public and
associates. This may result in readers rejecting the character and concluding that Bateman does not
deserve/worthy of the position in society he desires to achieve. This plays a significant part in how to
read the novel because it demonstrates the obsession of acknowledgement and the measurements
individuals are prepared to carry out. The most attention Bateman receives from the other characters in
the novel is compliments on his tan instead of his success or presence. Experiencing treated like, can
possibly understand his motives for preying on women. Feeding off the vulnerability and weakness of
women provides him with the confidence and authority that he lacks. Overall, the consumption of
seeking prestige and praise through aggressive behavior towards powerless people prevents the

Diffusion And Osmosis Essay
Introduction
The purpose of this lab is to understand diffusion and osmosis by using deshelled chicken eggs.
Before obtaining the experiment, we must first understand and define diffusion and osmosis. Both
diffusion and osmosis are passive transport processes meaning they do not require any input of energy.
Diffusion is the movement of molecules or atoms from an area of high concentration to an area of low
concentration along its concentration gradient (solute). Osmosis is the movement of water (solvent)
across a selectivity permeable membrane. While diffusion moves from an area of high concentration
to an area of low concentration and doesn t need water to move down a concentration gradient
osmosis moves both down and across the concentration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For a solution to be Isotonic cells are placed in water, so they neither gain or lose water through
osmosis because the concentration of solutes in the cell are equal to the solutes outside of the
selectively permeable membrane. (Jarod Saucedo, 2012). Although isotonic solutions neither gain or
lose water Hypertonic Solutions on the other hand loses water by osmosis and shrink, this is when
osmosis uses diffusion. The reason cells lose water is because water travels from an area of high
concentration to an area of low concentration causing them to become dehydrated and die (shrink).
Finally, Hypotonic solutions are the complete opposite of the other solutions because now instead of
cells losing water they gain water causing them to be bloated and burst.
The purpose of this experiment is to see the different effects of osmosis and diffusion through its
tonicity meaning the reactions of cells to their environments in this case in their solutions. We
hypostasized that if a deshelled egg is placed in a culture dish of 0% sucrose the results will be
isotonic. If the deshelled egg 2 is placed in a culture dish of 14% of sucrose, then the egg will swell
(hypertonic). If the deshelled egg 3 is placed in a culture dish of 40% sucrose, then the egg will shrink

Methods And Procedures Of A Golf Etiquette

selected working men and women throughout the state of Mississippi. Interviewees were asked a
certain set of questions dealing with golf etiquette, business golf as a sales tactic, and whether or not it
is beneficial or just a game. Secondary research was conducted through electronic searches.
Findings
Golf etiquette is not the first thing that comes to mind when making a sale or taking on a new
clientele. Companies have used it for years, however, to forge personal relationships with clients. It is
an impeccable way to learn traits about a potential client in a casual setting, without even talking

Most people would turn down a four hour meeting if just asked to sit at the office.
Eurich (2014) also states that one of the biggest problems with business golf is when individuals in
sales pass up the chance to network with potential clients by declining the invitation to play. Some let
their personal golfing ability be the deciding factor of this opportunity, when in reality the level of
play is not the focal point. Hill (2014) furthers this point by mentioning that if the opponent is not as
good of a golfer as most, not to torment or make fun of him. Giving encouragement instead of offering
lessons is the correct move in this situation in order to not make him or her feel inferior to the rest.
Success in business golf is about respect, not the score.
How Golf and Business Correlate
Quinn Thomas (2014) speak from personal experience as they address business golf when they say
that the relation between business tactic and the game of golf is very strong although most people
overlook it. Professional golfer, Cary Middlecoff, as cited by Quinn Thomas (2014) expresses that
many golfers cost themselves strokes by not playing to their strengths. If they do not pick the correct
club for the particular shot, then it may ruin their game. This can be exemplified in the workplace as
well when companies do not correctly utilize the resources available to them. It can prove to be

Anyone Lived In A Pretty How Town Essay
In his poem, anyone lived in a pretty how town, E. E. Cummings describes the life lived by the
average joe, symbolized by protagonist anyone, in the average pretty how town setting. Cummings
asserts that children will be born and raised to all be the same, with no individuality, then grow into
busy adults who cared for anyone not at all, and perhaps one day get married, live their lives, and die,
still with nevers, or an unfulfilled bucket list. It is through the use of repetition, foreshadowing, and
figurative language that Cummings conveys a mood of sad inevitability as he explains how this
lifestyle repeats itself in cycles and how death will come to everyone, all while they live their lives in
a society that might be pretty, but which lacks any real sense of community and individuality.
Cummings uses repetition to point out how life goes on, and how each generation repeats a cycle. For
instance, throughout the poem, Cummings repeats the names ... Show more content on

apparently don t care for anyone, except for maybe themselves. Cummings then uses an extended
metaphor to discuss the second problem. Sowed their isn t is a metaphor for the people raising
children, and reaped their same refers to how these children have all been raised to conform to society
so that they all end up the same. So in the end, the setting of Cummings poem is a town that might
look pretty on the surface, but lacks a caring community and stifles creativity with

The Common Oral Health Problems
Gum disease is one of the most common oral health problems. In fact, it is estimated that 75 percent of
adults who are over the age of 30 have gum disease. Forty seven percent of adults who are over the
age of 30 have periodontitis, which is the most serious form of gum disease.
Untreated gum disease will eventually destroy the bone and tissue that supports the teeth. It can also
lead to tooth loss. In fact, gum disease is the top cause of tooth loss in adults. Fortunately, gum disease
can be prevented. Below are some tips for preventing gum disease:
Good Oral Hygiene
Good oral hygiene is one of the keys to preventing gum disease. The mouth is filled with disease
causing bacteria. Brushing and flossing helps prevent bacteria and plaque from building up in your
mouth. You should brush your twice every day. Ideally, you should brush in the morning and before
going to bed. You should spend at least two minutes brushing your teeth.
You will need to floss daily. Flossing helps loosen and remove food particles and bacteria.
Professionals have debated about whether it is best to floss before or after you brush. However, it does
not matter whether or not you floss before you brush. As long as you are flossing and brushing
regularly, your oral health will greatly benefit it.
You should consider using an anti plaque mouthwash after you brush and floss. The mouthwash can
help eliminate the bacteria and plaque that may be left behind. It also helps prevent cavities.

police discovered a bloody pillow case in the woods, near her house, they linked it to the missing
pillow case in the woman s room, and then realized that they had a murder case on their hands. A
mystery in the case was that one of the local neighbors had mentioned seeing the woman leave

who left the house that morning. I am interested in this case because it was very intriguing how the

294). This means even after a week the blood has been cleaned up, luminol can still detect it. Also
after applying luminol, the area needs to be darkened so that blue glow can be emitted. The iron from
the hemoglobin in the blood causes luminol to glow, so a blue glow is produced when the solution is
sprayed where there is blood. Only a tiny amount of iron is required to catalyze the reaction
(Helmenstine, 2012). The use of luminol revealed that there were blood stains on the bed sheets and
suspected that the woman was killed in her bedroom and that she did not go to work that day or leave
the house.
Upon further analysis of the woman s bedroom, the forensic officers used a chemical called amido
black. Amido black is a protein dye that is sensitive to the protein in blood and when it makes contact
stains a latent blue black colour. It is used for revealing fingerprints, trace evidence, and fibers that
may be in the crime scene. This technique was not useful for the officers because they could not find
any prints or evidence. The forensic officers also performed an ultraviolet light test which was used to
reveal trace evidence such as vaginal fluid, urine, semen, or saliva. The ultraviolet test is usually done
before using chemicals such as luminol to see if there are any fibers to be found and used first.
However the officers were not able to find anything, but this method was useful to them because they
could not find any evidence to prove that

Othello as an outsider Essay
Set in 16th century Venice, Othello, by William Shakespeare, explores the idea of an outsider from the
very beginning of the play. Shakespeare uses Othello, a black army general, to explore the relationship
of an outsider in high Venetian society using a variety of approaches. The reader sees characters
consistently referring to Othello in derogatory and demeaning terms, as well as frequent implications
that Othello is scarcely human. Further exploration of an outsider in society comes from Othello
himself, as he outlines a few of the major differences that set him and the community apart.
Throughout the first act, a host of disparaging and select terms are used to describe Othello by a
number of different characters. Referred to as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another suggestion that Othello is not a normal being comes when Brabantio accuses him of
bewitching his daughter: (to Othello) That thou hast practised on her with foul charms/ Abused her

implication appears again that he belongs to a very different race to which he lives among.
The relationship of an outsider to society is also explored through Othello himself, as he recognises
the differences between him and those around him. While describing his and Desdemona s love,
Othello tells (about himself): Rude am I in speech/ And little blessed with the soft phrase of peace. In
these words, Othello is able convey that he is a little awkward in speech, and not a smooth talker, with
the unspoken understanding that others in the room are. Othello goes on, For since these arms of mine

The Yellow Wallpaper, By Charlotte Perkins Gilman
Until the end of time, women will find themselves asking, What is one to do? . This could be in
context to an abusive relationship, bearing children, choosing a job career, or virtually anything.
Naturally, women are nurturers and will put others before themselves and for this reason it is a
timeless question. In a short story, The Yellow Wallpaper written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the
main character finds herself asking this question frequently. The story follows a young woman
suffering from post partum depression and is placed on rest cure by her husband. Gilman uses her own
experiences from rest cure to relate and provide inside feeling to what it felt like to be under these
conditions. The Yellow Wallpaper is a short story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This psychotic break could have been prevented if the main character s husband helped her and
listened to her opinion on her own illness. The loving mother who just bared a child was ignored and
sent to rest when all she really needed was a little love and attention from her husband. Her husband
believes that he is doing everything in his power to help her, but in reality he is only feeding into her
psychotic break. Unfortunately, the rest cure was given to a number of women during this time period
due to lack of understanding of the disease. Gilman is not the only woman that was placed under these
harsh conditions and neglected, however, she was able to take that experience and fight for women s

The Positive Impacts Of Athletic Participation And...
Just as studies at the collegiate level have found athletic participation to be both positive and
negatively related to academic performance, the same came be seen at the high school level. However,
in some of the early studies athletic participation was not seen to have an impact on academic
achievement (Lumpkin Favor, 2012). Hauser and Lueptow (1978) found in their study of 852 senior
males that graduated in 1972, from five moderately large Midwestern city high schools, that their
results were in line with the results of the 1973, Lueptow and Kayser (as cited in Hauser and Lueptow,
1978) study that they replicated, do not support a casual interpretation of the relationship between
athletic involvement and academic achievement. (Hauser Lueptow, 1978, p. 308). Alternatively, that
athletic participation was not the underlining reason, but the initial dissimilarities in academic
achievement between athletes and non athletes. Marsh (1993) in his study found a similar lack of
effects for athletic participation on school grades. However, he did find participation in athletics
during the last two years of high school had a statistically significant positive impact for 14 of 22
senior and post high school outcomes and no apparent negative effects. There do seem to be more
studies that find either a negative impact (Beem, 2006; Cook, 2003; Gehring, 2004; Goldman 1991;
Klein, 2011) or positive impact (Burnett, 2000; Fejgin, 1994; Lumpkin Favor, 2012; White 2005;

Deception And Disguise In Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
Deception and disguise are key themes in Shakespeare s play Twelfth Night. The conflicts and
troublesome circumstances the characters face are the direct results of misdirection and trickery.
Shakespeare uses such falsehoods to show that discrepancy between one s inside and outside is caused
not only by an individual s intended deceit, but also by an outsider s own perception. Viola, the
shapeshifting protagonist, describes herself as A blank, (2.4.109). Are strangers not blanks to one
another when they first meet? An individual s opinions and views of another are the result of these
blanks filling in based on first meetings and first impressions. Conceal me what I am, and be my aid, /

Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On Yeast
In conducting the experiment, four test tubes were set up; each containing 3 mL of distilled water, and
0.3 grams of baker s yeast measured on a digital scale. The three independent variables tested were
milk, starch, and sucrose. Milk is composed of the disaccharide lactose, along with unsaturated fats,
and vitamins A and D. Starch, is a polysaccharide consisting of long chains of its monomer glucose.
Lastly, sucrose, also a disaccharide, consists of one glucose molecule, and one fructose molecule. 0.3
grams of each were measured on a digital scale, and put into separate test tubes, along with a control

United Kingdom Essay
The United Kingdom is a country located in the North West of Europe that has four parts, England,
Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The capital city is London, which the River Thames flows
through from Thames Head to 140 miles later at Teddington Lock where it ends. Compared to the
United States, the United Kingdom is quite small in fact it is approximately the size of New England.
Despite being diminutive in size, there is layer upon layer of cultures and history. Also, it has
geographic diversity, from the moors of Devon to the swamps in the southeast to the highlands of
Scotland. Although dwindling, many native languages survived and still spoken to this day. Some of
those are Celtic, Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Welsh. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each wave of migrations and invasions brought different cultures and added to what is now modern
day the United Kingdom. The Romans left their numerous long roads, whose names became lost in
time since there was no written records or inscribed sources. Built by the Roman army and long after
they returned home, their roads survived, and some routes are in use today. The Normans built
fortified castles, which was a new concept since before that time there was none in the United
Kingdom. One example is Restormel Castle, which is in a circular in shape as well as surrounded by
an entrenched circular ditch for protection against attacks. The Vikings left parts of their language in

History And Effect Of The Gold Rush

the history. In this project, I will introduce what is the major effects of the Gold Rush in the California.
And how did that change the people, economic, political and environmental effects. The Gold Rush is
a rapid movement of people to a newly discovered Goldfield. Gold rush was arguably one of the most
significant events to build American history during the first half of the 19th century. Thousands of
gold miners traveled by the sea and over the land of San Francisco and the surrounding area. In
January 1848, James Wilson Marshall discovered gold along the American River. By the time, the

Most of these were white men who came from New England. However, Native Americans, free
blacks, and enslaved African Americans also worked the mines. Thousands of experienced miners
came from Sonora in Mexico. Other foreign miners came from Europe, South America, Australia, and
China. Most of the Chinese miners were peasant farmers who fled from a region that had suffered
several crop failures. By the end of 1851, one of every 10 immigrants was the Chinese who used to
backbreaking labor in their homeland, the Chinese proved to be patient miners. They would take over
sites that American miners had abandoned because the easy gold was gone. Tough steady, hard work,
the Chinese made these played out sites yield profits. American miners resented the success of the
Chinese and were suspicious of their different foods, dress, and customs. As the numbers of Chinese
miners grew, American anger toward them also increased. A mixture of greed, anger caused some
miners to cheat others. One the easy to find gold was gone, American miners began to force Native
Americans and foreigners such as Mexicans and Chinese out of the gold fields to reduce competition.
This practice increased after California became a state in 1850. Also the consequences of the gold
miners made government make new legislation. One of the first acts of the California state legislature
was to pass the foreign miners Tax, which imposed a tax of 20 bucks in a month on miners from other

My Writing And Writing Skills
Throughout the years, my reading and writing skills were never my best aspect growing up as a kid. I
always felt that I would never need to learn how to write and read because I wanted to become a
superhero when I grew up, and I thought superheroes don t need to learn that type of stuff because
they just save people from the bad guys. As I grew older I knew my dream of flying around and
fighting crime wasn t an option, so I started read and write, which mostly started in kindergarten. I
knew it wasn t something I would enjoy doing but it was part everyday life. Writing papers isn t
something I want to do for a living, but I know it s something everyone must learn to get better at.
I knew my writing skills were never great because I never put in any thought into the papers I just
wrote them as fast as I can and didn t care about the outcome as long as finished it. During my first
month in high school I typed my first paper for my English class, and thinking I would get B I got a D.
I went to ask my teacher what was wrong with the paper and she said that the paper didn t have
transition, I made grammar mistakes, and I didn t follow the right format of: introduction, body, and
conclusion.
That s when I started to realize that I would need to change my format since it wouldn t be successful

Persuasive Essay On Gender Pay Gap
In our constitution we are all equal, but why are we not paid equally? The gender wage gap movement
will result in social change because it is bringing awareness to women in the workplace getting paid
lower than her male counterpart. On the other hand, many other people may argue that the gap is not
because of gender, it is because men work longer hours compared to women since they have children
to take care of. I believe that this movement could improve by making people more aware of the
through more examples such as the Women s U.S.A. Soccer Team wanting more pay and equal pay.
The gender wage gap between men and women needs to be brought to people s attention due to the
cause of unequal amount of pay for the exact same job. Our question is what is a gender pay gap? A
gender wage gap is when you take the gap between both men and women s pay and get a certain
percentage and that is the gap between the two. This is a definition of gender pay gap according to an
Australian Government article, A gender pay gap is the difference between women s and men s
earnings, expressed as a percentage of men s earnings. Basically, you take the difference, or subtract,
between men s and women s earnings all over, divide, the men s earnings and you get a percentage of
the gap if there is any. Now, statistics have shown that the women s gap has narrowed some since the
1980 s, but it still continues. Adult women showed that the wage gap is smaller compared to the teen
wage, 90 cents for every dollar made by a man. Said by the article Fact Tank, ...adults ages 25 to 34,
the 2015 wage gap is smaller. Women in this group earned 90 cents for every dollar a man in the same
age group earned. Women within the age group of 25 to 34 gain 90 cents for every dollar a man within
the same age group earned. If you truly think about it sure the gap is slightly smaller, but why is it not
equal? They are around the same age and are doing the same job, whether it be part time or full time.
Now it was also stated within this article that these women, by estimation, would have to work around
44 days extra in order for them to earn what their counterpart made in 2015. However, how does it get
like this? Is it possible that even with same or

Using The Standard Mpls Data Plane
Abstract The evolution of MPLS networks have made them critically important for ISPs for the
various functions of traffic engineering, efficient network utilization and for providing L2 and L3
enterprise VPN services. All these functions are supported by complex, energy hungry and expensive
core routers with support for a wide variety of control protocols carefully combined with data plane
mechanisms. It is observed that the MPLS data plane handles simpler functions of pushing, popping
off and swapping labels and are mostly un affected by any changes to the control plane functionalities.
This paper discusses the possibility of using the standard MPLS data plane in combination with a
simple extensible control plane using OpenFlow, SDN and its applications. A Protocol implementation
is discussed to show the simplicity of the approach over existing MPLS control plane and how more
services can be supported with the new control plane.
Finally, The paper discusses how the introduction of a new map abstraction fits well with the unified
control architecture for packet and circuit networks, making the new control plane ideal for multi layer
networks.

School Life In High School
When I think about my freshman year to my junior year there are things that have been the same and
things that have been different. I have experienced a lot in the couple years I have been at senior, and I
have lots to say about the high school life.
The one thing that I would say never changed and kept the ram fam together is Nasty Nation. Nasty
Nation is what we call ourselves at games and many different activities. We have a twitter page that is
called Nasty Nation. I followed it my freshman year and it told me when the games were, what the
theme was and if I didn t go to the game they would post the score as the game is going on. The games
were always my favorite thing to go to in high school. I would dress up to my fullest ability and cheer
on the rams.
Another thing that never changed was the level of stress I had each year. Between homework, work,
school, family, friends, and a boyfriend life was not the easiest sometimes. I have been super happy,
anger, and I have cried at least accouple times in the past three years from being here. I m not going to
lie I had come to the point accouple times where I wanted to just give up and drop out, but I knew that
would not be a very smart thing to do. The amount of stress coming into high school was there and
coming out it s still going to be there.

What Does Darkness Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne, author of the Scarlet Letter, uses symbolism to display the Puritan s way of life.
Embarrassed with having ancestral ties with the Puritans, Hawthorne reveals the harsh truth on the
society not accepting Hester s sin of adultery by casting Hester into wearing the scarlet letter A. From
this adultery, Pearl is the creation of Hester s sin, whereas the scarlet letter is the creation of the
Puritan society. From this we can conclude that Hawthorne is symbolizing that Pearl is another form
of the scarlet letter, and the scarlet letter is another form of Pearl. Even though the Puritan society
craved for perfection, Nathanial Hawthorne displayed contrasting color imagery to prove that
individuality is important because salvation can only be earned by being true to yourself. ... Show

age, which gave a yet darker aspect to its beetle browed and gloomy front (Hawthorne 33). The dark,

Hawthorne paints a forbidding picture of the prison, he also illustrates a lovely image of a wild, lonely
rosebush growing within all the dead weeds surrounding the prison door. Hawthorn states, A wild rose

#1 MAKE OBSERVATIONS
Even in middle school biology I learned that the body produced ATP and used it for energy, and I
never thought about what the abbreviation meant. When I learned that ATP was adenosine
triphosphate, which is composed of a modified form of adenine and phosphates, it made me wonder
why there is not chemical energy using the other bases.
#2 ASK QUESTIONS
Why is ATP the most common form of chemical energy rather than CTP, TTP, or GTP?
#3 HYPOTHESIS
Because adenine is a purine and utilizes 2 hydrogen bonds when it is in DNA, it fits better with the
ribose and phosphates.
The body produces an excess of adenine so it is the best choice for a nitrogenous base.
When mRNA is travelling to the ribosome to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
dATP has no purpose other than in DNA replication.
ATP is the most popular source because adenosine has many uses.
ATP is used in kinases, as a source of energy, and can combine with niacin to form NAD.
Guanosine is similar to adenosine, but is rarely used to give up phosphates. The only exception is in
tubulin, which helps with construction of cytoskeletons.
Guanosine is mainly used in G proteins, which help relay hormonal and chemical signals.
Other guanosine molecules mainly help control intercellular traffic and relay signals.
Uridine is mainly used in glycogen synthesis. UTP will bind to a glucose and form a UDP glucose and
a free phosphate, making the glucose more reactive.
UDP is used to help break down the other monosaccharides as well.
CTP is similar to UTP except that instead of helping break down sugar CTP helps to break down fats.
CDP diacylglycerol and CDP choline are all found in plasma membranes.
ATP is ideal because it is a purine and purine rings give them a wider range of uses.

Analysis Of The Film Waltz With Bashir
What are you insecure about? Every individual has at least one insecurity that they internally battle
with every day. For example, some may be embarrassed of their physical appearance, which may lead
to low self esteem. Others may be socially awkward and some may even be insecure about their
financial status. Social anxiety and insecurities have rose among Israelis and Palestinians throughout
recent years. In the Television Show, Arab Labor, viewers were shown the personal identity issues that
the main character, Amjad, battled with. The personality of Israelis and Palestinians has affected their
vulnerability to certain situations following the 2009 Gaza Conflict. They have faced distressing
repercussions from war such as posttraumatic stress disorder. In the film, Waltz with Bashir, a young
man struggles with reoccurring dreams that stemmed from his time as a solider in the 1982 Lebanon

The Velveteen Rabbit
As young children develop attachments to the parents who comfort them, so too do they develop
attachments to particular objects which they use to comfort themselves. An example of these close
relationships between children and stuffed animals can be found in Margery Williams The Velveteen
Rabbit. The protagonist of the story, after losing his china dog with which he had previously slept,
utilized his rabbit as a replacement. After a while, the boy became attached to the rabbit. He slept with

He grew so important to me that by the time I began preschool, I would not go anywhere without him.
Ruff Ruff, however, could not handle such constant use for so many years. He became less sturdy and
collected bacteria, leading to my eventual decision to stop sleeping with him and to store him in the
closet in order to ensure that his condition did not worsen. Many children develop similar attachments
to objects which they use for comfort as I did. In Margery Williams children s book The Velveteen
Rabbit, this relationship is demonstrated when the protagonist s china dog gets lost and he sleeps with
his rabbit as a replacement. His relationship with his rabbit becomes increasingly close, however, the

relationship with the boy ended due to concerns related to bacteria. Although in my case, bacteria and

comfort objects, the prospect of the embarrassment which would have arisen had people realized that I
still slept with Ruff Ruff was the final factor that convinced me

  • 3. Charles Bukowski Research Paper Charles Bukowski grew up in the era of the Great Depression where money was scarce for many average American families. His father did not have a stable job and was thus, deprived of his masculinity. To revive this lost virility, Bukowski was abused physically and mentally by his father for much of his childhood, and when he started to face many struggles of a teenager, such as acne, he began to question whether he was worthy of being loved or worthy of anything at all. These strong emotions lead him to write very passionate novels detailing his experiences growing up. Because of his difficult childhood, the content in his novels are typically cynical and pessimistic. This is common for the Postmodern Cynicism books in which Bukowski s novels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Society has always put physical attractiveness above all other characteristic. Ham on Rye displays this when Henry pulls himself out of school for how he looks and when Henry gets bullied for what he wore. Humankind has imposed so many societal standards to the point where, Severe depression from acne has resulted in attempted suicide and, unfortunately, successful suicide. Worrying statements include: I m worthless, (Collier and Oakley). Acne is a very common condition that occurs in most teens during puberty due to the improper regulation of hormones throughout the body. However, society has taught teenagers that it is unattractive and shameful. This causes teens to question their life and in some cases, end it. Though Henry did not attempt suicide, he believed that he was worthless and had no self worth. Though acne did play a large role in shaping Henry s adult life, the development of his character began with his father s abusive behavior. In psychological studies published by the Huffington Post it was found that, abuse was most strongly associated with depression, general anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, attachment problems and substance abuse, (LaBier). Henry (and Bukowski) exhibit these behaviors when his father was abusing him and when his mother stood off to the side. His mother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In America where water is at just about every turn of a facet, we don t always think about how fortunate we are to have amazing access to water. • 5. Minority Populations Throughout Austin s history, minority populations were isolated through political acts such as A City Plan in 1928, which wanted to make Austin beautiful so that involved removing minorities from the area surrounding the capital. In addition, schools for minorities were restricted to just the East side to force minority populations to move there. By the 1990 s, Austin was branded with the title Live Music Capital of the World. This title gave rise to an economic and social boost to Austin, but by doing so, it diluted the native culture into a hipster culture. In 1991, Austin was awarded the title Live Music Capital of the World due to the fact it has the largest number of music venues for population. According to Baker s article, Austin has 1 music venue for 4,125 people while the mainstream cities like New York City and Los Angeles has only 1 music venue per 29,600 people and 1 per 16,380 people respectively. These statistics are interesting because it shows that the Austin music scene is dominated by white males and that minorities are underrepresented in Austin. This is demonstrated by the demographics that show the African American community is moving away from Austin. Blues music is known for being black music and that white people tend not to play it as well. • 8. Hypovolemic Shock Case Study Hypovolemic shock is an emergency condition caused by loss of whole blood (hemorrhage), plasma (burns), or interstitial fluid (diaphoresis, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, emesis, diuresis, and diarrhea) in large amounts. This makes the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body (Heller, 2014). The severe compromise in blood flow and therefore systemic perfusion contributes to cerebral, renal, or hepatic ischemia and possible organ failure. It is the most common type of shock in children with dehydration and trauma being the most common factors (McCance, 2010. pp 1703). Pathophysiology Hypovolemic shock begins to develop after losing about a fifth or more of the normal amount of blood in the body resulting in compensatory vasoconstriction, increased SVR (systemic vascular resistance) and increased afterload in order to improve blood pressure and perfusion to core organs of the body (Heller, 2014) (McCance, 2010. pp 1672). Compensatory mechanisms have limited use and benefit. As you walk into the restaurant your nose becomes overwhelmed with mouth watering smells, you are greeted by friendly and sociable hosts, and the sounds of chatter and dishes clanking fill your senses. The velvet cushions on the chairs, spacious tables and TV s that entertain sports fans make the atmosphere relaxing and entertaining. Matteo s three best dishes include the baked clams as an appetizer, the creamy penne ala vodka as an entrée, and the cold vanilla ice cream with chocolate hard shell for desert. Golden brown baked clams are the perfect introduction to your delectable meal. The chewy, salty, succulent clam creates a burst of flavors when eating. The crunchy, savory, and deep fried breading perfectly complements the clam and the buttery, garlic and oil sauce that surrounds the clams help to add to its savory flavor. • 11. Analysis Of The Novel American Psycho By Bret Easton... In the novel American Psycho written by Bret Easton Ellis, the protagonist Patrick Bateman uses his wealth and violence which are exemplified in scenes involving the murder of his ex girlfriend Bethany. As well as appealing to the idea to maintain his image by any means such as purchasing expensive merchandises and taking the initiative to attend upscale restaurants. His actions with the implications of those elements reveal the consumptions of status and privilege. The detailed narration of Bateman s intense violent acts and purchases of expensive products creates imaginary and conflict for readers to accept as true the impression he is trying to demonstrate to the general public and associates. This may result in readers rejecting the character and concluding that Bateman does not deserve/worthy of the position in society he desires to achieve. This plays a significant part in how to read the novel because it demonstrates the obsession of acknowledgement and the measurements individuals are prepared to carry out. The most attention Bateman receives from the other characters in the novel is compliments on his tan instead of his success or presence. • 12. Diffusion And Osmosis Essay Introduction The purpose of this lab is to understand diffusion and osmosis by using deshelled chicken eggs. Before obtaining the experiment, we must first understand and define diffusion and osmosis. Both diffusion and osmosis are passive transport processes meaning they do not require any input of energy. Diffusion is the movement of molecules or atoms from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration along its concentration gradient (solute). Osmosis is the movement of water (solvent) across a selectivity permeable membrane. While diffusion moves from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration and doesn t need water to move down a concentration gradient osmosis moves both down and across the concentration ... For a solution to be Isotonic cells are placed in water, so they neither gain or lose water through osmosis because the concentration of solutes in the cell are equal to the solutes outside of the selectively permeable membrane. (Jarod Saucedo, 2012). Although isotonic solutions neither gain or lose water Hypertonic Solutions on the other hand loses water by osmosis and shrink, this is when osmosis uses diffusion. The reason cells lose water is because water travels from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration causing them to become dehydrated and die (shrink). Finally, Hypotonic solutions are the complete opposite of the other solutions because now instead of cells losing water they gain water causing them to be bloated and burst. The purpose of this experiment is to see the different effects of osmosis and diffusion through its tonicity meaning the reactions of cells to their environments in this case in their solutions. We hypostasized that if a deshelled egg is placed in a culture dish of 0% sucrose the results will be isotonic. Some let their personal golfing ability be the deciding factor of this opportunity, when in reality the level of play is not the focal point. Hill (2014) furthers this point by mentioning that if the opponent is not as good of a golfer as most, not to torment or make fun of him. Giving encouragement instead of offering lessons is the correct move in this situation in order to not make him or her feel inferior to the rest. Cummings describes the life lived by the average joe, symbolized by protagonist anyone, in the average pretty how town setting. Cummings asserts that children will be born and raised to all be the same, with no individuality, then grow into busy adults who cared for anyone not at all, and perhaps one day get married, live their lives, and die, still with nevers, or an unfulfilled bucket list. It is through the use of repetition, foreshadowing, and figurative language that Cummings conveys a mood of sad inevitability as he explains how this lifestyle repeats itself in cycles and how death will come to everyone, all while they live their lives in a society that might be pretty, but which lacks any real sense of community and individuality. Basically, you take the difference, or subtract, between men s and women s earnings all over, divide, the men s earnings and you get a percentage of the gap if there is any. Now, statistics have shown that the women s gap has narrowed some since the 1980 s, but it still continues. Adult women showed that the wage gap is smaller compared to the teen wage, 90 cents for every dollar made by a man. Said by the article Fact Tank, ...adults ages 25 to 34, the 2015 wage gap is smaller. Women in this group earned 90 cents for every dollar a man in the same age group earned. Women within the age group of 25 to 34 gain 90 cents for every dollar a man within the same age group earned. If you truly think about it sure the gap is slightly smaller, but why is it not equal? They are around the same age and are doing the same job, whether it be part time or full time. Now it was also stated within this article that these women, by estimation, would have to work around 44 days extra in order for them to earn what their counterpart made in 2015. However, how does it get like this? Is it possible that even with same or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Using The Standard Mpls Data Plane Abstract The evolution of MPLS networks have made them critically important for ISPs for the various functions of traffic engineering, efficient network utilization and for providing L2 and L3 enterprise VPN services. All these functions are supported by complex, energy hungry and expensive core routers with support for a wide variety of control protocols carefully combined with data plane mechanisms. It is observed that the MPLS data plane handles simpler functions of pushing, popping off and swapping labels and are mostly un affected by any changes to the control plane functionalities. This paper discusses the possibility of using the standard MPLS data plane in combination with a simple extensible control plane using OpenFlow, SDN and its applications. A Protocol implementation is discussed to show the simplicity of the approach over existing MPLS control plane and how more services can be supported with the new control plane. Finally, The paper discusses how the introduction of a new map abstraction fits well with the unified control architecture for packet and circuit networks, making the new control plane ideal for multi layer networks. I. INTRODUCTION MPLS has evolved as a complex and efficient solution for ISPs for the purposes of traffic engineering and enterprise L2 and L3 VPN services, traffic engineering in turn serves the purpose of maximizing the utilization of infrastructure while VPNs offer secure connection services to enterprises, this feature ... I have experienced a lot in the couple years I have been at senior, and I have lots to say about the high school life. The one thing that I would say never changed and kept the ram fam together is Nasty Nation. Nasty Nation is what we call ourselves at games and many different activities. We have a twitter page that is called Nasty Nation. I followed it my freshman year and it told me when the games were, what the theme was and if I didn t go to the game they would post the score as the game is going on. The games were always my favorite thing to go to in high school. I would dress up to my fullest ability and cheer on the rams. Another thing that never changed was the level of stress I had each year. Between homework, work, school, family, friends, and a boyfriend life was not the easiest sometimes. I have been super happy, anger, and I have cried at least accouple times in the past three years from being here. I m not going to lie I had come to the point accouple times where I wanted to just give up and drop out, but I knew that would not be a very smart thing to do. The amount of stress coming into high school was there and coming out it s still going to be there. The last thing that never truly changed was the people that go to Dubuque Senior High school. I am graduating with the same people that I went to middle school with and some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. What Does Darkness Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter Nathaniel Hawthorne, author of the Scarlet Letter, uses symbolism to display the Puritan s way of life. Embarrassed with having ancestral ties with the Puritans, Hawthorne reveals the harsh truth on the society not accepting Hester s sin of adultery by casting Hester into wearing the scarlet letter A. From this adultery, Pearl is the creation of Hester s sin, whereas the scarlet letter is the creation of the Puritan society. From this we can conclude that Hawthorne is symbolizing that Pearl is another form of the scarlet letter, and the scarlet letter is another form of Pearl. Even though the Puritan society craved for perfection, Nathanial Hawthorne displayed contrasting color imagery to prove that individuality is important because salvation can only be earned by being true to yourself. ... The dark, gloomy front symbolizes that evil and darkness which is present within every human being. Although Hawthorne paints a forbidding picture of the prison, he also illustrates a lovely image of a wild, lonely rosebush growing within all the dead weeds surrounding the prison door. Hawthorn states, A wild rose bush, which might be imagined to offer their fragrance and fragile beauty to the prisoner as he went in, and to the condemned criminal as he came forth to his doom, in token that the deep heart of Nature could pity and be kind to him. • 37. Atp Lab Report Morgan Calafati #1 MAKE OBSERVATIONS Even in middle school biology I learned that the body produced ATP and used it for energy, and I never thought about what the abbreviation meant. When I learned that ATP was adenosine triphosphate, which is composed of a modified form of adenine and phosphates, it made me wonder why there is not chemical energy using the other bases. #2 ASK QUESTIONS Why is ATP the most common form of chemical energy rather than CTP, TTP, or GTP? #3 HYPOTHESIS Because adenine is a purine and utilizes 2 hydrogen bonds when it is in DNA, it fits better with the ribose and phosphates. The only exception is in tubulin, which helps with construction of cytoskeletons. Guanosine is mainly used in G proteins, which help relay hormonal and chemical signals. Other guanosine molecules mainly help control intercellular traffic and relay signals. Uridine is mainly used in glycogen synthesis. UTP will bind to a glucose and form a UDP glucose and a free phosphate, making the glucose more reactive. Source 3: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An example of these close relationships between children and stuffed animals can be found in Margery Williams The Velveteen Rabbit. The protagonist of the story, after losing his china dog with which he had previously slept, utilized his rabbit as a replacement. After a while, the boy became attached to the rabbit. In Margery Williams children s book The Velveteen Rabbit, this relationship is demonstrated when the protagonist s china dog gets lost and he sleeps with his rabbit as a replacement. His relationship with his rabbit becomes increasingly close, however, the overuse of the rabbit leads to the rabbit s condition worsening.
