The Pros And Cons Of The Civilian Conservation Corps
The Great Depression, pulled the American economy to its all time low. The government mitigated
the depression with several methods. When the stock market collapsed, people started losing their
jobs and then their homes to the banks. People were desperately searching for jobs even if it s
terrible, until the government formed the CCC. The Civilian Conservation Corps(CCC) was formed
to provide hope and dignity to young American citizens and their future generations.
The CCC was designed to garner trust from the people by giving them hope and jobs, which
required repairing the damaged land. To avoid another environmental disaster, their primary
work was to plant trees, as some people relied on their land to feed themselves. President
Roosevelt saw a perfect solution to solve the two problems; he saw the barren land that needed
to be replanted and the desperate men who could to the job. The CCC would initially hire a
quarter of a million of young men (Roosevelt 5). To the masses, this idea of putting people back
into action and earn a living for them and for their families gave hope to the future of America.
The requirements to join the program would easily qualify most young men of different races. An
enrollee had to be an American citizen man that is 18 to 25 years of age who was unemployed
and willing to work a dollar a day for a span of six months (Hammond 9). Then, after six month they
could re enlist, which gave them confidence that they could survive through the

Gun Hill Street Essay
The Bronx has been changing over the years as realtors and big corporations set foot in New
York City. The Bronx has always been seen as a bad borough because of history of crime rate,
poverty, and aggressiveness towards other people in the past, but it has slowly been shifting
towards a positive change. Gun Hill Road was one of the neighborhoods in the Bronx that was
usually known as a ghetto area. This is because of the infamous reputation of the projects and areas
around them having higher than usual crimerates. Gun Hill Road/White Plains has had a rough
past for a long time, but over time it has actually been improving a lot. Not too long ago there was
a shooting that involved gang members fighting over turf, but NYTimes reports that It is not a
single clash between groups, confined and contained, so much as an accumulation of robberies,
deadly family squabbles and turf battles between local... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From reading his biography and looking into all the things he has done, he seems to be a
relatively wonderful person to represent the North East Bronx. In his biography it states he used
to go to Evanders Childs High School which is only a few blocks away from where I live. He also
seems to be community oriented because of his commitment on being a basketball coach for the
kids at Evanders. Not only that but he was also Bronx Lead Organizer for 1199SEIU/GNYHA
Healthcare Education Project (HEP) fighting to protect healthcare, and educating his community on
the disparities in healthcare. As a Community Activist, Andy was out spoken and organized his
community on critical issues such as senior services and education funding cuts, overdevelopment
of property, NYPD and youth relations, and overall people and community development. (Council,
District 12) He seems to really care about the community here and has actually shown this by

Lack Of Diversity In Higher Education
Last week I had the privilege of joining President Obama and the first lady at a White House
summit designed to spur efforts to make sure that higher education serves as an engine of upward
mobility rather than a replicator of inequality. One hundred college presidents came with formal
pledges in hand, committing time and resources to strategies to improve access and success of
disadvantaged young adults. The three heads of California s public systems all attended, including
the Universityof California s new system president, former Homeland Security Secretary Janet
Napolitano.
Just weeks on the job, Napolitano was the first participant to directly and explicitly own up to the
racial undercurrent to the discussion. UC s enrollment of low income students is impressive, but
the inadequate representation of Latino and African American students is a real problem. Seeming
fully in command of the subject matter, Napolitano lamented the ripple effect this lack of diversity
will have at all colleges because of the role UC plays in preparing the future faculty members who
will serve as mentors to the next generation of students at campuses far beyond UC. ... Show more

It would feature efforts to enhance transfer to UC not just from community colleges generally, but

Billy Collins Poetry Analysis
My analysis is on introduction to poetry by Billy Collins. Collins relays the message that
readers should be patient and open minded when reading poems in order to see the meaning.
Poetry is something to experience by going inside of it. There is a heavy use of metaphors in
this poem. The first line, I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a color slide
resembles that sometimes you have to look at something in a different way or in a different
light in order to see the variations. Collins is asking the reader to look at the poem in a different
way, not the way you would typically read something. I also interpret the color slide as not just a
brightly colored picture, but also an image shown on a screen that makes you ask the questions
what are they doing? Where are they? And what s going on in the picture? By referencing an image
on the slide it also references something that holds image, and holds information that can appear
dark or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It makes the reader experience the sound or energy of the poem such as danger, anticipation, or
excitement. The part of the poem that says I say drop a mouse into a poem and watch him probe
his way out has great interpretation because sometimes it a poem you can get lost in all the
different meanings. Collins wants you to get inside of the poem and really explore it. This also
gives a clear image of a mouse in a maze working through our problem of how to get out. It s not
a straight shot from the beginning of a poem to the end, it is an intricate maze. When the poem
reads or walk inside the poem s room and feel the walls for a light switch is in reference to when
you are in the dark about what the meaning is and you want the light of understanding to be turned
on. It s as if Collins is asking us to find the place in the poems that makes the light bulb come

Herman Melville s Life
Herman Melville lived a very adventurous life before starting his writing career, and his youth
was a very interesting start to his adventures which would later be adapted into his books along
with fictitious ideas molded in. Born on August 1 of 1819 to Allen and Maria Melville, Herman
soon came down with the scarlet fever sometime in the mid 1820 s which permanently damaged
his vision. His family lived a fairly luxurious life from Herman s father being a highly successful
merchant, although he was borrowing large amounts of money to fund his business which later
led to near financial ruin when he died in 1832. The business was picked up by Allan s oldest son,
and Herman worked as a bank clerk to help with his family s debt. During the 1830 s,

Taking a Look a the Munchausen Syndrome
Munchausen!!!
If you know someone with munchausen syndrome, you know how bad the disease is. If you
don t know someone with the disease, I will tell you all about it. the disease isn t very big or
popular anymore, because not a lot of women don t have this disease anymore. I have done a lot
of research, and most of the diagnoses were done in the 1900s, but the disease is still around
some places. This disease is mostly diagnosed to women, because most men don t feel the need
to these kind of things. Personally, I don t know anyone with the disease, but I have been doing
research for a while and things do get really serious. The disease is when women, that have
children, don t feel enough love from their kids so they poison their kids food, and when kids are
sick, what do they usually want the most their momma. Then the kids want their mother and the
mothers feel loved more that usual. Women with munchausen are putting the lives of innocent
children in danger, some are even going to the extreme and taking their lives.
Munchausen syndrome is a serious mental disorder in which someone with a deep need for
attention pretends to be sick or gets sick or injured on purpose. People with Munchausen syndrome
may make up symptoms, push for risky operations, or try to rig laboratory test results to try to win
sympathy and concern.Typically, the cause is a need for attention and sympathy from doctors,
nurses, and other professionals. Some experts believe that it isn t just the

Smith Software Testing Environment Proposal
Smith Software Testing Environment Proposal BSA/385 Introduction to Software Engineering
Abstract Smith Systems Consulting has received some feedback and concerns that their processes
and procedures are not sufficiently documented. This lack of professional documentation has
caused some loss of potential contracts for the firm. The Learning Team Bravo has been given the
assignment to define, develop, and propose standards for a software testing environment at Smith.
This will be accomplished by defining the Smith engagement approach, introducing the way the
firm works with clients and how projects are managed, defining the software development and
quality assurance processes and procedures, describing in detail testing procedures to be exercised,
describing the infrastructure including hardware and software capabilities that will make up the
software testing environment, and by defining the format and requirements for development of
formal program specification. Smith Systems Consulting recently tasked Learning Team Bravo
(LTB) with developing a standardized project plan, approach, and testing procedures. It is Smith s
goal to show prospective clients that Smith is efficient and is confident that they are able to
perform contractual obligations smoothly. The following procedures will be generalized so that
Smith will be able to utilize this project plan in any project. This standardized project plan that
LTB developed will enable Smith to focus the resources of

The Existence Of God By Thomas Aquinas

Robert Evans
Intro to Philosophy
The Existence of God
Thomas Aquinas was a theologian that was a priest in the 1200 s and wanted to prove that God
existed. He created many books and articles in his lifetime about God and things with the catholic
religion, but, his more famous book Summa Thelogia gave five arguments that God exists in
Articles II and III they are explained in detail. Below is my understanding of what he was saying
the works of two other man that had comments on this man. Through the arguments of these three
man I have came up with my own views and created an argument based on what they have to say.
In Article II Aquinas states why people think that God doesn t exist and goes on to destroy them
piece by piece. The first argument in Article II against God states that God does not existence
because it can not be demonstrated that he does in fact exist. He answers calmly and uses
examples from the Bible to help him with the answer and then he states what he thinks. Based on
what he stated in his example he went off of it and said that what he thinks. He states in Article II
and I quote I reply, therefore, that God s existence, and those other things of this nature that can be
known through natural reason concerning God, as is said in Rom. I., are not articles of faith, but
preambles to these articles. (Article II). He is saying that Faith is not a given thing you have to
knowledge and understanding so that you can develop faith

Macbeth Historical Analysis Essay
A Historical Analysis of Macbeth
The Shakespeare tragedy of Macbeth depicts the story of an ambitious man, Macbeth. He is an
honorable noble of Scotland, but, throughout the play, his ethical character turns corrupt. Macbeth
takes a turn for the worst when he encounters three witches. The witches tell Macbeth his prophecy
and assert that he will become king of Scotland. Ultimately, this prophecy will trigger Macbeth s
inner ambition and lead to his downfall. The play was written around 1606 during the Jacobean
Era, which played a major contribution in the writing of Macbeth. The historical context of the
change of power surrounding the tragedy of Macbeth influences Shakespeare s writing as he tries
to flatter King James, for plays were performed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ultimate symbol displaying national pride is the American flag. The American flag
represents freedom, for that reason American citizens worship it. The flag is present in
countless places throughout the country and are accompanied by the national anthem and the
Pledge of Allegiance. There are seldom events that do not begin with the playing of the national
anthem or the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. In the 1606 England, many people had the
same ethic as Americans do, hard work. Today in America, advertising seems to capitalize on
this. Whether it is for a new product or a presidential candidate, they try to appeal to a typical
hard working American. While they may share that sense of pride, it is ultimately for their own
advantage. For example, if a speaker or writer is telling people to vote for a certain candidate,
they may try to relate to the audience s national pride by saying it is their civic duty to vote.
Shakespeare also had the idea of hard work imbedded in him, so he presented his national pride
similarly through his plays. He did this to try and earn support from the king, because without that
it would ve been hard for him to product his

Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn 2
Popper and Kuhn: Two Views of Science In this essay I attempt to answer the following two
questions: What is Karl Popper s view of science? Do I feel that Thomas Kuhn makes important
points against it? The two articles that I make reference to are Science: Conjectures and
Refutations by Karl Popper and Logic of Discovery or Psychology of Research? by Thomas Kuhn.
Both articles appear in the textbook to this class. In the article, Science: Conjectures and
Refutations , Karl Popper attempts to describe the criteria that a theory must meet for it to be
considered scientific. He calls this puzzle the problem of demarcation. Popper summarizes his
arguments by saying, the criterion of the scientific status of a theory is its... Show more content on

Kuhn refutes this point by claiming that Popper s assertion that astrologers escape falsification
by explaining away any possible refutations is impossible to support. Kuhn uses the example of
reputable records that indicate many instances where astrology categorically failed. Astrology is
a very complex science (or non science, depending on your opinion). Measuring the planets and
the stars is hard, and in the days when astrology was more popular, the tools for measuring were
crude. In addition, few people knew exactly when they were born, a crucial detail needed to
perform accurate astrology. Kuhn agrees with Popper in stating that astrology is not a science,
but they differ in their reasons. Kuhn main problem with astrology is that the failures of
astrology do not give rise to research puzzles. He thinks that when a scientific theory fails to
explain a phenomenon, there is a new puzzle for scientists to study, learn, and grow from. In
astrology, nothing is learned from mistakes. There is no effort to change the theory to explain
why it failed or adopt a new theory. Popper emphasizes the importance of testing when it comes to
new theories replacing old ones. Kuhn takes particular offense to this statement. He argues that if
one looks at how science is actually done, not how Popper thinks it should be done, it will be clear
that many new theories were adopted before they had been tested. Kuhn uses the example of
Copernicus theory being adopted over

Technology Is A Hindrance In Modern Society
In the 21st Century many individuals argue that technology has made life easier and assist humans
by increased efficiency and productivity. However, they fail to realize that although technology has
become a cornerstone in modern society, it has also become a hindrance in many aspects. The
dictionary defines technologyas the machinery and equipment developed from the application of
scientific knowledge. Scientific inventions are man made, as a result, it is flawed and has its
adverse effects. The advancement of technology has damaged society. It has prompted human
beings to be less physically active, which in turn decreases human to human interactions and as a
result of individuals being smart device stricken, it jeopardizes their privacy and safety.
Presently, the advancement of technology has resulted in the decrease of physical activity.
Humans have become lazy because they are overly dependent on their handheld devices. Which
in turn results in the decrease of brain power and human intellect. Many people do not take the
liberty to learn anything anymore because it is easily accessible on their smart devices.
Knowledge, information and just about anything else is at the hands of the common man by way
of technology. Therefore, there is no need for humans to do the extra. Information is accessed in
2.5 seconds via the world wide web. Scholars do not even bother buying the newspaper, books or
any educational material anymore. Individuals can lie down in their beds and

Examples Of Constructive Dividends
Constructive dividends are a common occurrence in most small companies since they often conduct
their business in an informal way. They can attract penalties from IRS for both the company and the
shareholders involved. Situations that result in constructive dividends are described in the essay.
Examples of constructive dividends and how to minimize them in a corporationare also highlighted.
Concept of Constructive Dividends
The term constructive dividend is used to describe a disbursement made by companies that benefit
a shareholder though the instalment is not carried out specifically to that shareholder and
regardless of the possibility that no official dividend has been announced (Ault Arnold, 2010).
These types of dividends take place in organisations that are closely held and transactions between
shareholders, and the company is often informal. There are situations when a shareholder is
considered to have been given constructive dividends. The first one is when the shareholder gets a
pay, a financial gain or a benefit. Such a dividend is taxed to the shareholder depending on the
degree of the existing as well as accumulated earnings or the company s profits and benefits. The
second one is when the organization uses reserves that do not bring about a corporate finding the

Constructive dividends result from different scenarios and can cause adverse tax outcome thus the
need to reduce them. A corporate or a shareholder can show the IRS that the organization did not
have sufficient amounts of profits or earnings to give shareholders any dividend. Besides, they can
proof such payments were not utilized for personal use but the normal company expenditures. If the
shareholders or the organization uses the above defences, payment of dividends may not be
classified as constructive dividends by the IRS (Ault Arnold,

The Importance Of Drilling For Oil In The Arctic National...
Last week, Senate Republicans sparked an uproar from environmentalists and their Democratic
allies after voting to raising revenue by drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in the
northeast corner of Alaska.
Though pushed for years by Alaska s congressional delegation, tapping that land, set aside for
caribou herds and other wildlife, is still not a sure thing. The Senate, House and President Trump
each need to agree to a budget proposal that sets up the prospect of a tax code rewrite. Passing a
revamp of the tax code is still a big if.
But to the west of the refuge along the state s North Slope is another massive stretch of land with its
own significant oil reserves. Unlike with ANWR, the Trump administration already... Show more

Environmental groups were generally supportive of the previous administration s plan, but worry
the Trump administration is rushing to lease that land designated for drilling with the sale
scheduled for December 6.
Americans should not stand by and allow our public lands to be plundered without restraint, said
Nicole Whittington Evans, Alaska regional director for the Wilderness Society. We need a
thoughtful, careful approach that emphasizes responsible development and recognizes that some
places are simply too special to drill.
And Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is taking steps toward removing the protection for parts of the
reserve currently off limits. In May, Zinke signed an order to review and possibly revise the former
administration s land management plan for the reserve. Three months later, BLM invited the oil
and gas industry to nominate new tracts for development that currently are not eligible for leasing.
Alaskan oil interests see filling up the Trans Alaska Pipeline System, or TAPS, as crucial for
keeping the petroleum flowing. If there s too little oil in pipeline, none of it moves.
In May, I put my hand on TAPS and pledged to help fill it by putting Alaskans back to work on the
North Slope, Zinke said in the announcement.
Environmentalists counter that there is indeed enough oil in TAPS. Many in Alaska and elsewhere
don t acknowledge that flow is increasing and

Marie Curie Accomplishments
No one would have expected that a young Polish girl from an impoverished family would have
made such great contributions and become one of the most influential scientists to ever live.
During the 1860 s, society did not expect poor young women to become more than a housewife, let
alone pursue a career in science. However, Marie Curiebroke through these stereotypes and in
doing so, inspired many women to follow in her footsteps. Many would believe that someone
who has gained so much recognition in the scientific community and achieved their lifetime goal
would have a positive outlook in life and a optimistic attitude. However, this was not the case for
Marie Curie, who battled severe depression from an early age. Although Marie Curie found herself
in some dark places, she worked even harder to overcome many societal and personal challenges.
Without Marie Curie s lifetime dedication to science, her discovery of radium and polonium, and
her scientific contributions to radiation, our world would not be the same.

Analysis Of My Neighbor Totoro
The way Hayao Miyazaki entices his viewers to accept his idea about a new relationship between
nature and humanity was never really talked about or discussed in the past couple of years. The
film My Neighbor Totoro, with all the religious elements and the social impact it had established
the director Miyazaki as one of the best animators not just in Japan, but around the world. What
really gives this film power and fame is not just the mysterious and magical world it has or the cute
character that Miyazaki created, but also the film s way of influencing the audience by conveying
an unfamiliar message about this three layered relationship between nature and humans. Comparing
both Miyazaki s childhood memories and the story depicted helps him connect the audience s
feelings with the characters and making this realistic representation of humanemotion in the film
believable and realistic not only to children, but even to adults. What also makes the world more
familiar to the spectators is the director s use of a common fear from many people s early years
in this unknown and magical world. This common fear is clearly illustrated when the girls meet
Susuwatari, a black spirit in the old empty house that stays in dark spaces and prefers to be left
alone, and only children can see it. The introduction of this spirit is a good transition between the
world of magic and reality. It confirms and insists about the existence of the unknown, and

forcing her audience to take her side. When Woolf s imagined speaker is reading in the library, she
begins to sketch the imaginary professor who had writing the book she was reading, titled The
Mental, Moral, and Physical Inferiority of the Female Sex. The speaker first describes this
professor, Professor von X, as not in my picture a man attractive to women, (Woolf 31). Because
this is the first way in which she describes him, it places a great weight on physical attributes. She
says women would not find him attractive, using his physical appearance to symbolize her opinion
of his ideals. Any women in the audience will be less likely to agree with his thoughts on
inferiority since they are first judging him on his described appearance, which is not particularly
endearing. This description also implies that men who think women inferior are less attractive to
women, discouraging the behavior in any male audience members. By degrading the sexist
professor, she

Technology Dbq
Why do you think we are advanced in technology today? It all started years ago, when the first
humans Adam and Eve were on earth and were capable of communicating with one another.
Than flash forward to 8,000 years ago, the first evidence of an alphabet was found from the
Phoenician around 1500 BCE. People started to write on papyrus and then they started to write on
scrolls. Monks started to write on books in a room known as a scriptorium. The scriptorium was
also known as a copying room. In 600 CE the Chinese introduced the woodblock printing. This was
difficult for the Chinese because they had to carve 50,000 characters on wood and eventually the
carve letters would wear out. A man named Johannes Gutenberg saw his chance to make something

and many famous people used it such as Martin Luther. Martin Luther used it because he was
disappointed with his church because they were selling indulgences. The printing press made it
possible for Luther to copy 95 theses and nail them in the front door. The 95 these were known all

had announced that he would leave the team at the end of the 2014 season.
This case mentioned many issues, like driver management issue, budget management issue, and etc.
In the following essay, I list two alternative to solve these issues, and then I also give some criteria
to evaluate these alternatives. In the end, I also give my own way to implement my
recommendations.
Problem Statement
Lotus F1 team was a British formula one racing team. It had a strong racing heritage and had won
two World Titles under the Renault name in 2005 and 2006. It had contracts with two primary
drivers and three test drivers. When Lotus F1 was fighting for third place in the championship, a
thunderbolt jumped out and posted a big and common problem to every F1 team.

What Does Bdsm Mean In Fifty Shades Of Grey
BDSM That You Won t Learn In Fifty Shades Of Grey
M Learn some BDSM facts that you will not learn in the movie Fifty Shades of Grey.
BDSM Does Not Always Involve Sex BDSM does not always involve sex because it is mostly a
mental stimulation carried out with physical actions that produces pleasure pain. The skin organ
has arousal receptors sensitive to the touch delivering a full body intense experience with spanking,
massaging, and skin tight clothes. The mental stimulation is what produces the orgasmic feelings,
not the physical sex act.

The reality is that people are not waking up in dungeons forced to do things against their will.
Moreover, it is not a dangerous thing to perform BDSM, but more of a kink that gives off the
illusion of being held captive with no control. Furthermore, BDSM is not dangerous or abusive at
all and is in fact comfortable and fun!
Mentally Healthy People Practice BDSM Performing BDSM does not mean that you are weird,
mentally unstable, or the odd ball out of the group, in fact, studies show that it is good for you! A
2013 study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine concluded that most BDSM practitioners are
mentally sharp, live with a purpose, and have a higher well being than those who do not practice
BDSM.
BDSM Require Research Practice Most people think they can just get into BDSM scene without
doing any research or practice what they have seen on television. This is a mistake. but Doing
BDSM the right way require much research and practice, unless you have a professional escort
or a friend who you trust who can ease into the role and properly introducing you into the world
of BDSM. People who do not practice or do research may end up hurting themselves or their
partners, so it is imperative to read and learn about the safety precautions ahead of time. Make
sure to get information from a variety of sources including reading books and talking to friends for

The Buried Giant, By Kazou Ishiguro
Is having any type of memory important in our daily lives? If so, which do you remember the
most of? In Kazou Ishiguro s novel, The Buried Giant, Ishiguro deals with a couple named Axl and
Beatrice, who go into an adventure where they meet other characters such as a young Saxon warrior
Edwin. One theme that is constantly brought upon in the novel is the relevance of memoryas a
whole. Even though the meaning of family is evident between the elderly couple, Beatrice and Axl,
Ishiguro generates a society and specifically for Axl, Beatrice, and Edwin where memory is lost and
dreaded, thereby creating the importance of memory signifying that we should value others and
what we remember by using abnormal dreams, remembering thoughts that unite... Show more

Since the cloak badger is tight around her symbolizes that Beatrice has a special intimate
connection with Axl, because she is wearing this garment that is physically protecting her body.
Therefore, Beatrice is implying that she cannot let go of him. The caterpillar represents Axl who is
crawling away from her instead of being with her forever. As a result, Beatrice unconsciously fears
that her husband may eventually depart her. It is evident in this example, that memory has a
connection with dreams, by showing that we are able to incorporate values into people not only
through a conscious state of mind, but also unconsciously through dreams. Therefore, the dream
reinforces the anxious fear of not only losing someone physically, but also mentally. In addition,
the current memory between Beatrice and Axl brings them together. Even though memory is not
the greatest attribute of Axl, he tends to remember some positive ideas he learned from others.
Axl utters, The time I m thinking of, you had on the green cloak, and it was some festival day,
and this same stranger, seeing I was your protector, turned to me and said, she s the loveliest
vision I ve seen so you be sure to take very good care of her my friend (Ishiguro 77 78). The quote
demonstrates the memory that has potential to create value into other people, but only when it is
remembered clearly. Considering that Axl does remember this

In the year 1765, a well acclaimed group arose when the British enforced the Stamp Act. The
Stamp Act was a law geared toward the American colonist to pay taxes on paper goods due to the
French and Indian War. There were some colonist who believed that there should be no taxation
without representation and they called themselves the Sons of Liberty. They believed themselves
as patriots fighting for their rights but I view them as terrorist. They are terrorist because they
condoned looting, vandalism, the tarring and feathering of people and most of all making

Not like the Sons of Liberty who condoned and outsourced violent criminals. The Black Lives

Special Education Curriculum For Students With Disabilities
1.From your perspective, what exactly, are we talking about when we say special education
curriculum ? At first I was a little confused about this question. I was thinking about special
education curriculum in the terms of an adaptive curriculum. After reading the articles form this
module and locating my own article, special educationcurriculum refers to what educators are doing
to make the general education curriculum accessible to students with disabilities. Although there
have been many changes related to the education of students with disabilities, there is still a
noticeable gap in achievement between students without disabilities and students with disabilities
(Aron Loprest, 2012).
2.Describe the legal climate of special education today. How does this climate affect the decisions
we make in designing and implementing special education curricula? Provide specific examples.
There are many legal issues that arise in the area of special education. During the summer 2015
school term I completed the course Special Education Law. In this course I discovered that
litigation regarding the laws of IDEA and Section 504 are on the rise. Parents are more educated
of their rights and there are advocates as well as organizations readily available to assist student

Judith And Maidservant
In Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith and Maidservant with the Head of Holofernes Judith is depicted

Assyrian Army was to beseech Judith s town Bethulia. Judith is a jewish widow, who was invited to

In this work I have conflicting opinions about what is the focal point. The focal point is the area
of the work where the eyes are drawn, or where the eye tends to focus. I see two main focal

Existentialism In Catcher In The Rye
At least once in someone s lifetime, a rocky phase filled with tasks and barriers that are challenging
to overcome will occur. In fact, if one has to fulfill these said duties in such ways that it ends up
becoming a regular routine, one might start to question the meaning of life. Isolation, feeling lonely,
or believing that regulations set by higher authorities are controlling one s individuality connect
with a concept known as existentialism. In J.D Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, it is
evident that Holden is against societal norms and he cannot form relationships with his peers due to
his peculiar attitude. As Holden is frequently mean spirited, this prevents him from fitting in.
Hence, examining the way Holden interacts with others reveals that Salinger purposely wrote this
novel with the intention of clarifying the concept of alienation by making Holden express his anti
social behavior to the readers through a first person narrative. Salinger expresses Holden s
alienation since his thoughts that he shares are melancholic, how he constantly tries forming
relationships within age groups that are vastly different from his, and the fact that others are
infuriated/uninterested with his conversations. What is perhaps the most symbolic aspect of
Holden s alienation are his own actions and thoughts shown to the audience. Obviously, when
intrusive thoughts affect an individual, it most likely links with isolation; this is what Holden
exactly experiences. Throughout

A Worn Path By Eudora Welty Essay
A Worn Path (1940) On an everyday basis people are encountering challenges that stand in their
way of them achieving their set goals. However, with determination the vast majority will
accomplish the mission they have set out to conquer. In the short story A Worn Path written by
Eudora Welty in 1940, Phoenix Jackson, the main character has a mission in which she is trying to
complete when she is faced with many challenges. This short story is centered on the challenges
that are faced by an elderly African American grandmother as she continues on her long journey
from the secluded pinewoods into the town nearby of Natchez. She has one intention in mind when
she begins, to get a medicine for her chronically ill grandson no matter what the challenges are that
she encounters. The one way to convey this idea to the readers is with the literary use of theme.
Some of the major themes in Eudora Weltys short story is the determination that Jackson conveys
with her actions, the aspect of agism, and racism. The most important theme in this story is the
emotional and spiritual strength of Jackson which enables her to continue her journey. For the past
seventy years many scholars have been trying to critically interpret the short story written by

The Impact Of Communism And Capitalism
Stephanie LeBlanc
Professor Wesley Austin
Economics 201
16 October 2016
The Impact of Communism There are faults within both communism and capitalism, but sometimes
one can even effect the other. This paper will explore what the possible connection is between
North Korea s communistic economy and how it may have impacted South Korea s capitalistic
economy. At the end of the World War II in 1945, two separate regimes emerged on the Korean
peninsula to replace what was once the colonial government. The United States military government
took over the southern half, now known as South Korea, while communist Russia set up a Korean
leadership in the northern half, now known as North Korea. The political division meant sudden
disruption of trade with both Japan and within Korea, causing serious economic issues. While
trying to control the chaos that happened after the de colonization, the United States military
government privatized properties previously owned by the Japanese government and civilians.
During World War II the economy of the Korean peninsula was in absolute shambles.
Despite all the measures taken by both the new South Korean government and the United States
military to help the country get back on its feet, The Korean Warthen soon broke out in 1950,
killing one and half million people and destroying about one quarter of capital stock.
After the war, South Korea followed most other post World War II countries examples and tried to

The Triangle Fire Industrial Revolution
In the early 1900s, America s mostly rural society was transformed into a urban manufacturing
nation. This dramatic metamorphosis caused a deeper chasm between the poor and the rich, but
helped form a thriving middle class. American cities overflowed with millions of European
immigrants willing to provide cheap labor that was the catalyst for a thriving economy. New York
Citybecame the largest industrial powerhouse in the United States because of the garment industry.
Due to the availability of affordable factory made items, American culture became preoccupied with
the acquisition of goods, and the concept of consumerism was born. Sadly, the poverty stricken
population who lived in slums and worked in intolerable conditions suffered tremendously. The
book, The Triangle Fire by Jo Ann E. Argersinger tells the true story behind the spark of change of
the exploitation of factory workers within America. With the advent of the Industrial Revolution,
and the key historical events that followed, there were many cultural and political changes in the
United States.
In the era of the Industrial Revolution, many key historical events created a butterfly effect of
change. As a result of the abysmal living and working conditions of the immigrants, pivotal actions
by women reformers and women workers improved the lives of girls working in New York s
garment industry. Due to the invention of the shirtwaist, New York was home to nearly five
hundred factories. Many young Jewish and

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight, By Emily Dickinson
Death is the concern in of both Dylan Thomas Do Not Go Gentle into That Goodnight, and
Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death . Moreover, while these two poets use
similar themes in their works, the execution and tone of their respective pieces could not be
more antithetical. More to the point, Thomas poem paints death and oblivion as something
deserving of fear and dread, and even though dying is an immutable fact in our world, man will
always feel the need to have, Rage, Rage against the dying of the light . However, Dickinson
does not let the fear of death consume her, so much so, that in her poem she embraces death as
nothing less than a gentleman, who in her own words kindly stopped for me . At the end of it all,
Dylan Thomas poem is a loud boisterous proclamation about the desperation of man to hold on to
life and to leave something behind but ultimately realizing they cannot, while Dickinson s is a
quiet reflection about the cyclical nature of life and death and the peace the end brings. Dylan
Thomas aforementioned poem is about battling against the rising tide, while still knowing there
truly is no stopping it. More to the point, the author is conveying that man will always fight against
the ire of death and in the interim, try to avert it, but in the long term, hope that something in their
legacy leaves a worthwhile impact. Fight against the dying of the light, is a call to action; every
person will fight to hold on to this life

for a more commercial model where podcast are downloaded as a subscription service or a pay
per download (Pollack, 2007). This creates an opportunity for both the individual and the
professional. User generated content and primarily the video generated content is driving
opportunities through brand awareness and use of personal experience as a form of marketing
and public relations. Companies are references you tube experiences and videos from customers
as a way to drive value into their products. If you have watched a You Tube video lately you can
see the small advertisements that try to draw you towards a product and display the benefits. People

Dilemma Of Informed Consent
Currently, there are nearly as many human biological samples stored in the United States as there
are people in the United States, and many of the sources of the samples remain unknown because
informed consent was not previously required. The main dilemma between informed consent and
scientists lies within the ethics and practicality of research on tissue removed from a patient s
body for surgical purposes. Meanwhile, the tissues are studied in labs across the country. In recent
years, the HeLa cell line and the cells backstory have precipitated outrage towards how the tissue
was obtained, managed, and the inadequacy of informed consent from Henrietta Lacks and her
family. Since then, other cases have become public regarding the lack... Show more content on

The medical definition of informed consent is The process by which a patient learns about and
understands the purpose, benefits, and potential risks of a medical or surgical intervention,
including clinical trials, and agrees to receive the treatment or participate in the trial. Informed
consent generally requires the patient or responsible party to sign a statement confirming that they
understand the risks and benefits of the procedure or treatment (Medical Definition of Informed
consent). The definition goes over medical and surgical procedures when the tissue is still part of
the patient; however, tissue removed from the patient during an operation, is not mentioned.
Consequently, a gray area emerges and scientists scramble to decipher between what is ethical and
what is practical. The ethical side corresponds to the patient s right to their body, including his or
her tissue. Although, again, there are not any laws protecting a human s right to their tissues
removed from the body. The practical side relates to the cost of future research and patient
confidentially in terms of linking unidentified tissue samples to the original patient. The practicality
of voiding using consent forms, in terms of tissue, eliminates the confusion within the scientific
community, reduces additional cost burdens and decreases potential privacy breaches to the
original patient. Scientists, including David Korn,

Neil Mccaw s Context Analysis
Neil McCaw distinguishes four types of contexts as four ways of reading a text: genre, literary
history, history, and authorial biography (McCaw, 2008:82). He claims that these contexts have a
key role in understanding a text from different perspectives (McCaw, 2008: 82). This section
includes two subsections which discuss the following types of contexts: socio historical and
biographical contexts and literary context of Sylvia Plath s writing. The contexts are in accordance
with Neil McCaw s classification of contexts. The socio historical and biographical contexts chosen
for the present analysis correspond to history and authorial biography as proposed by Neil McCaw.
Similarly, literary context may include both genre and literary history.... Show more content on

Patricia Stanley writes that in the 1950 Sylvia Plath won a scholarship to Smith College (Stanley,
2006: 396). Regardless of the success in her studies, Sylvia Plath suffered her first depression when
she returned from her guest editorship in the Mademoiselle magazine (Stanley, 2006: 397). Linda
Wagner Martin explains that The Bell Jar depicts the continuous decline into depression which
began when Plath was a guest editor in the Mademoiselle magazine (Wagner Martin, 2003: 33).
Connie Ann Kirk holds that the depression led to her first unsuccessful suicide attempt, which
happened in August 1953 (Kirk, 2009: 78). After electroconvulsive treatment, Plath showed signs
of recovery and soon after that she went back to Smith College to continue her studies. After Plath
finished her studies in Smith College, she was accepted to Cambridge University on Fulbright
scholarship where she met her future husband and a poet, Ted Hughes, whom she married in June
1956 (Kirk, 2009: 86). Steven Gould Axelrod holds that Plath s marriage affected her creative life
because frequent unhappiness inhibited her writing in which she could not give herself credit even
for the poems and stories that she did write (Axelrod, 1990:

Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Dr. Henry Jekyll in Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) seems to be an enthusiastic
scientist just as Shelley describes Victor Frankenstein. Though Victor Frankenstein reports his
own story to Captain Walton, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is narrated by different
points of view, mainly from lawyer Utterson, a close friend of Jekyll and in charge of executing
Jekyll s last will. Thus, no background of Jekyll is provided. In fact, it is only mentioned that he
lives in a splendid home in 19th century London with multiple rooms and a laboratory, and that he
has servants to his dispose. When Utterson first meets Hyde, he is described as someone unnormal
with evil hints. It is described that his exterior generates feelings of disgust and even unease to
other characters. Yet this deformity is described not only on a physical level but also on moral one
(and thus, differs from the depiction of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hyde. In this way, Jekyll becomes monstrous himself as he wishes to pass on his evil parts into
another person. Jekyll s concoction is a threat to cultural morals and values as it enables
someone to set evil free. Consequently, there is no obligation and interest in adhering to any
moral standards. In the end, he is a split person, one half is represented by Jekyll and the other
one by Hyde. Stevenson used the different standpoints in the story to create the feeling that
Jekyll and Hyde are two different individuals: The Master Hyde, if he were studied, thought he
[Utterson], must have secrets of his own; black secrets, by the look of him; secrets compared to
which poor Jekyll s worst would be like sunshine. (Stevenson 22). Thus, Strange Case of Dr.
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a story where the line blurs. As Hyde and Jekyll are one and the same
person, the reader realises that they together are both moral and immoral and both good and

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of The Civilian Conservation Corps The Great Depression, pulled the American economy to its all time low. The government mitigated the depression with several methods. When the stock market collapsed, people started losing their jobs and then their homes to the banks. People were desperately searching for jobs even if it s terrible, until the government formed the CCC. The Civilian Conservation Corps(CCC) was formed to provide hope and dignity to young American citizens and their future generations. The CCC was designed to garner trust from the people by giving them hope and jobs, which required repairing the damaged land. To avoid another environmental disaster, their primary work was to plant trees, as some people relied on their land to feed themselves. President Roosevelt saw a perfect solution to solve the two problems; he saw the barren land that needed to be replanted and the desperate men who could to the job. The CCC would initially hire a quarter of a million of young men (Roosevelt 5). To the masses, this idea of putting people back into action and earn a living for them and for their families gave hope to the future of America. The requirements to join the program would easily qualify most young men of different races. An enrollee had to be an American citizen man that is 18 to 25 years of age who was unemployed and willing to work a dollar a day for a span of six months (Hammond 9). The Bronx has always been seen as a bad borough because of history of crime rate, poverty, and aggressiveness towards other people in the past, but it has slowly been shifting towards a positive change. Gun Hill Road was one of the neighborhoods in the Bronx that was usually known as a ghetto area. This is because of the infamous reputation of the projects and areas around them having higher than usual crimerates. Gun Hill Road/White Plains has had a rough past for a long time, but over time it has actually been improving a lot. Lack Of Diversity In Higher Education Last week I had the privilege of joining President Obama and the first lady at a White House summit designed to spur efforts to make sure that higher education serves as an engine of upward mobility rather than a replicator of inequality. One hundred college presidents came with formal pledges in hand, committing time and resources to strategies to improve access and success of disadvantaged young adults. The three heads of California s public systems all attended, including the Universityof California s new system president, former Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. Just weeks on the job, Napolitano was the first participant to directly and explicitly own up to the racial undercurrent to the discussion. UC s enrollment of low income students is impressive, but the inadequate representation of Latino and African American students is a real problem. Collins relays the message that readers should be patient and open minded when reading poems in order to see the meaning. Poetry is something to experience by going inside of it. There is a heavy use of metaphors in this poem. The first line, I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a color slide resembles that sometimes you have to look at something in a different way or in a different light in order to see the variations. Collins is asking the reader to look at the poem in a different way, not the way you would typically read something. I also interpret the color slide as not just a brightly colored picture, but also an image shown on a screen that makes you ask the questions what are they doing? Where are they? And what s going on in the picture? By referencing an image on the slide it also references something that holds image, and holds information that can appear dark or... Collins wants you to get inside of the poem and really explore it. This also gives a clear image of a mouse in a maze working through our problem of how to get out. It s not a straight shot from the beginning of a poem to the end, it is an intricate maze. Below is my understanding of what he was saying the works of two other man that had comments on this man. Through the arguments of these three man I have came up with my own views and created an argument based on what they have to say. In Article II Aquinas states why people think that God doesn t exist and goes on to destroy them piece by piece. The first argument in Article II against God states that God does not existence because it can not be demonstrated that he does in fact exist. He answers calmly and uses examples from the Bible to help him with the answer and then he states what he thinks. Based on what he stated in his example he went off of it and said that what he thinks. He states in Article II and I quote I reply, therefore, that God s existence, and those other things of this nature that can be known through natural reason concerning God, as is said in Rom. Kuhn refutes this point by claiming that Popper s assertion that astrologers escape falsification by explaining away any possible refutations is impossible to support. Kuhn uses the example of reputable records that indicate many instances where astrology categorically failed. Astrology is a very complex science (or non science, depending on your opinion). Measuring the planets and the stars is hard, and in the days when astrology was more popular, the tools for measuring were crude. In addition, few people knew exactly when they were born, a crucial detail needed to perform accurate astrology. Kuhn agrees with Popper in stating that astrology is not a science, but they differ in their reasons. Kuhn main problem with astrology is that the failures of astrology do not give rise to research puzzles. He thinks that when a scientific theory fails to explain a phenomenon, there is a new puzzle for scientists to study, learn, and grow from. In astrology, nothing is learned from mistakes. There is no effort to change the theory to explain why it failed or adopt a new theory. Popper emphasizes the importance of testing when it comes to new theories replacing old ones. Kuhn takes particular offense to this statement. He argues that if one looks at how science is actually done, not how Popper thinks it should be done, it will be clear that many new theories were adopted before they had been tested. Concept of Constructive Dividends The term constructive dividend is used to describe a disbursement made by companies that benefit a shareholder though the instalment is not carried out specifically to that shareholder and regardless of the possibility that no official dividend has been announced (Ault Arnold, 2010). These types of dividends take place in organisations that are closely held and transactions between shareholders, and the company is often informal. • 26. The Buried Giant, By Kazou Ishiguro Is having any type of memory important in our daily lives? If so, which do you remember the most of? In Kazou Ishiguro s novel, The Buried Giant, Ishiguro deals with a couple named Axl and Beatrice, who go into an adventure where they meet other characters such as a young Saxon warrior Edwin. One theme that is constantly brought upon in the novel is the relevance of memoryas a whole. Even though the meaning of family is evident between the elderly couple, Beatrice and Axl, Ishiguro generates a society and specifically for Axl, Beatrice, and Edwin where memory is lost and dreaded, thereby creating the importance of memory signifying that we should value others and what we remember by using abnormal dreams, remembering thoughts that unite... As a result, Beatrice unconsciously fears that her husband may eventually depart her. It is evident in this example, that memory has a connection with dreams, by showing that we are able to incorporate values into people not only through a conscious state of mind, but also unconsciously through dreams. Therefore, the dream reinforces the anxious fear of not only losing someone physically, but also mentally. In addition, the current memory between Beatrice and Axl brings them together. Even though memory is not the greatest attribute of Axl, he tends to remember some positive ideas he learned from others. Axl utters, The time I m thinking of, you had on the green cloak, and it was some festival day, and this same stranger, seeing I was your protector, turned to me and said, she s the loveliest vision I ve seen so you be sure to take very good care of her my friend (Ishiguro 77 78). • 36. Existentialism In Catcher In The Rye At least once in someone s lifetime, a rocky phase filled with tasks and barriers that are challenging to overcome will occur. In fact, if one has to fulfill these said duties in such ways that it ends up becoming a regular routine, one might start to question the meaning of life. Isolation, feeling lonely, or believing that regulations set by higher authorities are controlling one s individuality connect with a concept known as existentialism. In J.D Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, it is evident that Holden is against societal norms and he cannot form relationships with his peers due to his peculiar attitude. As Holden is frequently mean spirited, this prevents him from fitting in. Hence, examining the way Holden interacts with others reveals that Salinger purposely wrote this novel with the intention of clarifying the concept of alienation by making Holden express his anti social behavior to the readers through a first person narrative. Salinger expresses Holden s alienation since his thoughts that he shares are melancholic, how he constantly tries forming relationships within age groups that are vastly different from his, and the fact that others are infuriated/uninterested with his conversations. What is perhaps the most symbolic aspect of Holden s alienation are his own actions and thoughts shown to the audience. Obviously, when intrusive thoughts affect an individual, it most likely links with isolation; this is what Holden exactly experiences. Throughout ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Impact Of Communism And Capitalism Stephanie LeBlanc Professor Wesley Austin Economics 201 16 October 2016 The Impact of Communism There are faults within both communism and capitalism, but sometimes one can even effect the other. This paper will explore what the possible connection is between North Korea s communistic economy and how it may have impacted South Korea s capitalistic economy. At the end of the World War II in 1945, two separate regimes emerged on the Korean peninsula to replace what was once the colonial government. The United States military government took over the southern half, now known as South Korea, while communist Russia set up a Korean leadership in the northern half, now known as North Korea. The political division meant sudden disruption of trade with both Japan and within Korea, causing serious economic issues. While trying to control the chaos that happened after the de colonization, the United States military government privatized properties previously owned by the Japanese government and civilians. During World War II the economy of the Korean peninsula was in absolute shambles. Despite all the measures taken by both the new South Korean government and the United States military to help the country get back on its feet, The Korean Warthen soon broke out in 1950, killing one and half million people and destroying about one quarter of capital stock. Moreover, while these two poets use similar themes in their works, the execution and tone of their respective pieces could not be more antithetical. However, Dickinson does not let the fear of death consume her, so much so, that in her poem she embraces death as nothing less than a gentleman, who in her own words kindly stopped for me . Dilemma Of Informed Consent Currently, there are nearly as many human biological samples stored in the United States as there are people in the United States, and many of the sources of the samples remain unknown because informed consent was not previously required. Meanwhile, the tissues are studied in labs across the country. The medical definition of informed consent is The process by which a patient learns about and understands the purpose, benefits, and potential risks of a medical or surgical intervention, including clinical trials, and agrees to receive the treatment or participate in the trial. The definition goes over medical and surgical procedures when the tissue is still part of the patient; however, tissue removed from the patient during an operation, is not mentioned. Consequently, a gray area emerges and scientists scramble to decipher between what is ethical and what is practical. The ethical side corresponds to the patient s right to their body, including his or her tissue. Although, again, there are not any laws protecting a human s right to their tissues removed from the body. The practical side relates to the cost of future research and patient confidentially in terms of linking unidentified tissue samples to the original patient.
