Explain Why I Want To Be A St John s High School
Why I would like to be a student a Saint John s High School?
I wish to attend Saint John Catholic High School because they offer a lot of extracurricular
activities and have different honors and AP classes. If I have the opportunity of attending, I would
take part in the debate team, the basketball team, theater and also the anime club. The St. John s
environment seems like it is the perfect fit for me. I am familiar with St. John s because I have a
relative who attends. It is a school that values education and cares for their student body. I also think

Essay On Fast Food Nation
Working in a slaughter house is one of the most dangerous jobs on earth. Workers in these
factories risk their lives and limbs on a daily basis, all the while making the factory owner s rich.
These blue collar jobs are becoming increasingly dangerous as can be seen in both The Jungle to
the Fast Food Nation . Through both the works of Upton Sinclairs The Jungle, written in 1906, and
Eric Schlosser s Fast Food Nation ,, published in 2001 it is clear that the behind the scenes picture
of the meat packing industry, not much has changed in the past hundred years.

Although both of these exposГ©s were written almost a century apart, their similarities are
frightening. One of the things that The Jungle and Fast Food Nation they both share is improper

Although official statistics are not kept, the death rate among slaughterhouses sanitation crews is
extraordinarily high. They are the ultimate in disposable workers: illegal, illiterate, impoverished,
untrained. The nation s worst job can end in just the worst way. Sometimes these workers are
literally ground up and reduced to nothing.
Butchery businesses, the most deadly occupation on the planet, has ended and proceeds to ruin
many lives in the process of building the factory owners wealth.
Blue collar jobs are becoming more threatening as the record moves on from the production of The

Grammatical Analysis To Chisholm
Lexical and grammatical analysis Avoidance of agency or attribution of agency to collectivities
and not individuals, is a characteristic feature of Chisholm s speech. She tends to use
generalized and impersonal constructions. For instance, in the opening phrases of the address,
she puts forth the following example: [...] when a young woman graduates from college and
starts looking for a job, she is likely to have a frustrating and demeaning experience ahead of her.
If she walks into an office for an interview, the first question she will be asked is, Do you type?

Effects Of The Deepwater Horizon Oil Leak On The Gulf Of...
On April 20, 2010 The Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and sunk into the Gulf of Mexico at
Macondo MC252. Eleven people were killed as a result. The spill released more than 4 million
barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. According to various reports this was one of the worst
ecological disasters in US History next to the Exxon Valdez. As a result of this incident, a plume
appeared in the surrounding area. This plume was initially identified by elevated levels of
methane and light aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes,
referred to collectively as BTEX). (Reddy et al., 2011) Examination of this article will show what
chemicals have been introduced into the gulf waters and the potential impact if left untreated. The
disastrous effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil leak have caused a significant impact on our
marine and mammal seafaring wildlife. Many private and governmental research institute studies
were conducted immediately upon contamination and leakage of the oil flow into the Gulf of
Mexico. Extensive studies were conducted over the course of the months before the capping of the
oil well. To this day continued research studies have been conducted in the 6 years following the
oil spill. Analyzing the impacts and effects of the oil spill, and the changes it has made to our

Time Cover Analysis
Time cover has a symbolic design. The word Time rests on top of the page centered like normal,
while tiny words Al Qaeda: The Next Generation sit beneath it. Below those words, a stack of
matches stand upright with the face of the leader of Al Qaeda Osama Bin Laden plastered on all
the match heads. A bright red border surrounds the cover art. To appeal to their audience, Time uses
certain methods. Time places matches on the cover, to appeal to an international audience through
symbolism. Matches start fires. Not only this, but matches can spread fires, as matches ignite when
coming into contact with flames. Either way, matches lead to fire, which literally and figuratively
correlates to violence, danger, and destruction . Time uses this symbolism to show how they
perceive Al Qaeda s behavior, which impacts the people who read their magazine, national and
international individuals (cite). Using the picture, people will see a connection between matches
and Al Qaeda and have an image in their heads of not only what Al Qaeda s true intentions are, but
also how dangerous they can become. With this in mind, they will purchase the magazine to learn

Essay on Sexual Selection
Sexual selection was an idea proposed by Darwin and refers to the process in which males and
females attempt to maximize their chances of reproductive success. Within a species there are
certain characteristics that make individuals attractive to potential mates. An example of this is in
peacocks, female peacocks are attracted to males with long brightly colored tails, even though this
makes them easier to be spotted by predators. This characteristic then evolves within the species
due to how males with this characteristic have a higher chance of reproductive success and their
characteristics being passed on to surviving offspring.
There are 2 types of sexual selection. Intersexual selection takes place when males compete for the
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clark and Hatfield helped support this by getting female and male experiments to ask male and
female participants if they would like to engage in casual sex. 75% of males said yes while every
female participant said no. This helps support the sexual selection theory as it shows that females
have to be more careful with mating as they only have a limited amount of opportunities therefore
are more likely to enter a longterm mating strategy. Males can have casual sex with little investment
so are more likely to then females. This study helps to show the gender differences.
Much of the research documenting sex differences in mate choice focus on preferences rather than
on real life choices. So a male may have a preference but may have to settle for much less.
Mate choice is a product of mate preferences form in the environment of evolutionary adaptiveness
(EEA). Sexual selection suggests that females prefer males who they can gain benefits from such
as gifts. This is shown in male birds who make nests for females in order to mate with them and
also in insects who give nuptial gifts.
Sexual selection also suggests that females prefer males who have a strong jawline and prominent
cheekbones. These characteristics arise because of a strong presence of testosterone which also
helps to indicate

Dialysis Lab Report
According to dictionary.com, dialysis is the process by which uric acid and urea are removed from
circulating blood by means of a dialyzer . This is needed when a person has any stage of kidney
failure or other issues pertaining to their kidneys. The purpose of dialysis is for the machine to act
as a kidneyand to take away waste, extra water, and salts. This in return helps control blood
pressure and keep a safe level of chemicals in your blood. In this paper I will discuss what it will be
like as a dialysisnurse and important things to know before my observation.
Objective 1: Role of a nurse in dialysis Nurses in dialysis have a variety of different tasks to
perform. Before dialysis occurs, the nurse must check the patient s vital signs while assessing their
condition, educate the patients about their diagnosis and treatment, as well as answer any questions
they may have. During the process it is the nurse s job to watch the treatment beginning to end,
check medications to be given and make sure the medications are correct. After dialysis the nurse
must evaluate the patient s reaction, review the lab work and medications, inform the doctor of any
changes, and support the patient and care team throughout the whole process.
Objective 2: Diagnostic tests in dialysis There are some lab tests that have to be run before and
after a patient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that none of them will affect the treatment.

All Things Being Equal Essay
All Things Being Equal
Most of us have heard Martin Luther King s I Have a Dream speech, or part of it, at some point
in our lives. In 1964, one year after the speech was given, Lyndon B. Johnson signed Executive
Order 11246, which signaled the birth of affirmative action. Affirmative action refers to efforts to
increase educational and employment opportunities for minorities and women. In November, 1997,
California voters did away with affirmative action [at the state level] by passing proposition 209.
They were convinced that it was no longer needed, that it gave minorities and women special rights.
Governor Pete Wilson wrote in 1996 as part of his campaign against affirmative action:
Let me be clear: we haven t yet fully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are struggling over crumbs because we know that the bigger part hs been received by the elites
in corporate America. (Brunk 331)
An example of this fighting over crumbs is the California proposition 209. White people felt they
were not getting jobs, scholarships, into college, because the jobs, scholarships, etc., were being
given to less qualified people of color. Some people of color were also against affirmative action
because they didn t feel like they made it on their own accord but were hired or admitted to
college, etc., because of their skin color and not because of their merits. This inferiority complex is
shared by Richard Rodriguez, an American essayist and teacher. According to the biographical
sketches in Literacies, Despite his academic success, Rodriguez left the university partly because he
was uncomfortable with advantages he felt he received because of his minority status. (Brunk 697)
To understand affirmative action we must look back in history. According to Cornel West,The
fundamental aim of affirmative action was to put a significant dent in the tightly controlled
networks of privileged white citizens who monopolized the good jobs and influential positions in
American society. (Curry 32)
Affirmative action is not about

How Does Steven King Create Suspense
Individual Study
Compare the ways Steven King in The Shining and William Friedkin in The Exorcist use
techniques to create suspense.
Steven King in his 1977 novel The Shining and William Friedkin in his 2001 film The Exorcist
establishes that suspense can be created in many forms while both being equally effective in its
own right. Although the characters are faced with a horrific dilemma in two very different settings,
the techniques used to create suspense can be similar. In both texts suspense is produced through
characterization, narrative structure and foreshadowing to create a state of anxious uncertainty for
what may happen. While the characters within The Shining are placed in a traditional horror setting,
where they are isolated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overcome with rage Karras takes the demon with him through a window and down the grey stair
way, ultimately defeating it.
In The Shining the hotel is mentioned within the first chapter, as Jack is being interviewed.
However, it is only until chapter 4 that the reader is allowed a glimpse of the terrible things to
come. Delaying the suspense allows for proper character development which will prove
important in the long run. The word REDRUM, as stated previously was shown in chapter 4, it
is a key word in the book that is repeated countless of times. Every time this key word appears it
is accompanied by fear, Danny s fear. By introducing it so early into the story it pushed the
reader to ponder the words meaning and because of its sinister association every time it was
brought up more suspense was built up. It is later revealed that it was murder spelled in reverse.
In both texts the authors use an anti climax principle that is highly effective in creating suspense
in the viewer. It works for a system of false alarms followed by the real danger. An example of
this is during Jacks possession and he remembers that he had forgot to dump the boiler. There is a
race against the clock to save the hotel, which is already building up suspense with questions of
will he make it. As he dumps the boiler it seems that he had got there in time, this in turn takes the
tension away from the reader until suddenly the hotel blows. This is a good example of how
suspense is used to create

Lady Lazarus Plath confirms her strong faith in rebirth and resurrection: Out of the ash I rise

believes that Suicide, Death and Resurrection may fetch her eternal happiness. That is why, it

desertion. Divorce is very common in the West but Plath could not digest Ted Hughes separation

formation if the independent powerful state that is currently preserving the positions of the world

caused both sides to become infuriated with each other. Causes of the American Revolution could

After the victory in the seven year war, Britain gained dominance in the North America. From that
period, Britain possessed not only 13 colonies along the Atlantic coast, but also conquered French

a new challenge: people from colonies revolted against Britain.
At the end of the 18th century, the territory of American colonies was inhabited by almost 3 million

coordinate sub points may be expressed as nouns or noun phrases using parallelism in outlining.

So the brewing industry stayed in a fast growth stage in 1960 to 1980. After the fast development,
the demand grew less than 1% between 1980 and 1985. With the large advertisement investment
(about 10% of sales) and more choices, the beer industry had owned a fix drinking market share. For
these, the brewing industry had already established a strong foothold which meant they already
reached the maturity stage.
In the plc diagram above, the beer brands Coors Light and Coors Banquet is shown in relation to
their respective stages of their lifecycles. Coors light is the newest beer of the two and is in the
beginning of the growth face. Coors Banquet is more towards the beginning of the mature face,
since it s their oldest brand and it is not growing that much anymore.
Porter s 5 forces analysis
Industry Competitors Rivalry among Existing Firms
High fixed costs
Raw materials cost major breweries over half of their net revenues.
Large volumes results in high storage costs. Beer storage is also difficult.
Slow industry growth
The industry grow is staggered (less than 1%). This will result in a market share competition that
will benefit the companies who have the means to survive, e.g. the means to lower their costs.
Numerous or equally balanced competitors
Equally balanced competitors posses the financial power to wage a financial price war. The
competitors are able to guard their interests and are

Queen Victoria
Queen Victoria reigned England for sixty three years, thus making her the longest reigning
monarch to this day. In a monarchy, the crown is passed down to the closest living relative in a
family. When Victoria s uncle, William IV, passed away, Victoria became queen at the young age
of 18. Queen Victoria s reign is considered as epic. Similar to many epic heroes, Victoria the Queen
influenced culture. The VIctorian Erawas named for her during her reign on England. During her
reign, England went through many advancements; technology, sciences, bridges, underground
sewers, railways for buildings, and literary augmentations. Queen Victoria was sheltered from many
works of literature for they referenced wars she was not to know about. One literature work she...

Victoria has a condition where the ability of blood to clot is reduced severely, also known as
hemophilia. During her marriage to Prince Albert of Saxe Coburg, who also happened to be her
cousin, she gave birth to eight children. With hemophilia being a genetic disorder, all eight of her
children were diagnosed with this condition. About nine years after Prince Albert and Queen
Victoria s eighth child was born, Albert passed away from Crohn s disease. For forty years, from
her husband s death to her own, she raised eight children on her own and she reigned over a
country. Fame and fortune were very popular during Queen Victoria s reign, just like these
factors were popular in characteristics of epic stories. Being queen, Victoria had to be a role
model for the civilians in England. When she fell in love with a Scotsman, John Brown, she had
to hide her love. If Queen Victoria had made this relationship public, her popularity would rise,
but in a negative way. When Odysseus yelled out his name, parental ancestry, and homeland, he
took a risk. Fame determines a lot in one s life; however, it is not always a good feature to

Biblical Inspiration Howard Marshall
This book review is from the readings of Biblical Inspiration by Howard Marshall. The book is
published by Regent College Publishing located in Vancouver, and British Columbia published the
book in 2004. The book is braces around the interpretation of the Bible, and the inspiration of the
Bible in our lives of today. There are many questions that are brought up the book, and these
include: Is the Bibleinfallible? How do we interpret the Bible today? is its inspiration believable
in and biblical criticism believable? All of the different opinions on biblical issues equivalent to
these bring up issues and questioning within the community. It is Marshall s goal to try and
produce a statement that is concrete of what the Bible says in our lives today. Biblical
Inspiration has five different key components. The first components is Marshall talking about
how God exposes himself to society. Marshall wanted to make it obvious that this controversy is
based for of his readers, and these readers have some kind of belief in God, and the realness of
him. After this Marshall starts to talks about the question that is raised. This question is is God
reveals himself in different ways, and can one of these ways be in the Bible? Marshall made it
apparent that he believed God revealed himself quite obviously in the Bible, and was a very
important tool for God to reveal himself to us. Marshall confirmed this when he said, Christians do
experience such moments of revelation as

Worrying whether or not you were overcharged for your car repair is an awful feeling. There s tons
of advice on how to avoid getting ripped off, but few discuss the actual car repair prices. We really
need to look at the charges on a car repair estimate or auto repair invoice to determine if we re

The focus needs to shift from giving outdated and ineffective advice to addressing the specific
charges. Are they legitimate charges? Can they be justified by industry guidelines?
Now car repair estimates can be confusing. So let s break it down to get a better idea if your auto
repair shop is billing you appropriately.

Orbital Cellulitis Essay
ORBITAL CELLULITIS
Description
Suppurative inflammation of adipose and soft tissues of orbit is termed as orbital cellulitis. It
occurs more frequently in children than adults. Orbital cellulitis and preseptal cellulitis are the
major infections of the ocular adnexal and orbital tissues. Orbital cellulitis is an infection of the soft
tissues of the orbit posterior to the orbital septum, differentiating it from preseptal cellulitis, which
is an infection of the soft tissue of the eyelids and periocular region anterior to the orbital septum.
CAUSES
Orbital cellulitis can be caused by

As a growing majority of middle class families fall victim to the economic devastation of the
Great Recession, suffering from prolonged unemployment, depleted job markets and a rising cost
of living, the threat of potential terrorist attacks striking America and its interests seems to have
faded into the proverbial background of our collective consciousness. With a transfer of power
from the hawkish Bush Administration to President Obama and his more diplomatic approach,
major media outlets in print, on television and in the blogosphere, which just a few years ago
regaled with patriotic fervor while espousing the possible peril awaiting the nation, have all but
abandoned their coverage of terrorist activity. This reversal in focus by both individuals and
institutions may simply be a natural response to the reduced capabilities of al Qaeda and other
terrorist networks, as confirmed by the leading authority on terrorism and its effects, and national
security analyst for the CNN network, Peter Bergen, who observed recently that the Obama
administration has played a large role in reducing terrorist threats by continuing and scaling up
many of former President George W. Bush s counter terrorist methods (Bennetch 1). Despite the
substantial progress made in the last two years to decapitate and destroy al Qaeda and its offshoot

Criminology And Sociology And Criminology
Where the Two Meet
Criminology is where criminal justice and Sociology meet and come together. Sociology is a social
science where the study of the development, structure, and functioning of human society happen.
Criminology is also a social science that studies crime and criminal behavior. Sociologists, by
studying society and relationships, are able to determine the thoughts and actions of individuals or
criminals. Each science can relate to other sciences and Criminology relates to Psychology,
Sociology and more. Sociology and Criminology both contribute to society. Every day were faced

Another social issue that is a problem with in society today would be opinions. People are
allowed to have a difference of opinion. We are all able to believe different and not think the
same and still live in harmony. There needs to be an understanding and respect in difference of
opinions. On the other hand, Criminology is about the crime and criminals in society. It involves
law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Criminal justice and Criminology are related
fields, but are not the same things. Criminal justice focuses more on upholding social control and
Criminology is the study of the crimes and criminals. Whereas, both are just as important.
Criminology, with the help of other social sciences, go deep within the criminal and the crime to

next, and also how to stop it and how to prevent it from happening again. Criminology also deals
with issues in the field. Some of these issues involving Criminology might be, capital punishment,

case. Many people push against the reforms currently needed for considerable, painstaking

Fuel is usually consistent of octane, ethyl benzene, Trimethylpentane, toluene, and brutane. The
reactions of 3.51kg of oxygen to one kilogram of fuel causes the production of 1.42kg pf water
and 3.09kg of carbon dioxide. Simply written out, it would form an equation similar to
C8H18+O2+CO2+H2O CO2+H2O. Dismally, this doesn t work as a proper equation, as one
would find it impossible to balance out. The balanced equation would be closer to C8H18+O2
CO2+H2O. Now that one is able to balance the equation, we ll multiply the carbon dioxide and
water by eight and nine respectively. Now there are too many oxygen on the right side of the
equation (product). We move to the left side of the equation (reactant) and change the O2 to 25
/2O2. Balanced, the equation is C8H18+25/2O2 8CO2+9H2O. In terms of heat through energy,
this equation can be converted to [(8 x 393.5) + 9 x 241.8)] 250.1. What this means is for each
time the reactant produces the CO2+H2O mixture, 5270kj of energy are produced. Surprisingly
enough, thermoelectric EHRS thrive on this! Thermoelectric generators are made up by
thermoelectric couples. These thermoelectric couples are a pair of p type and n type elements.
Thermally, they connect in parallel groups, while electrically that connect in series. Voltage drives a
current, when placed between a heat sink and a heat source, through an electrical circuit. Car
manufacturers can use this technique to stop producing CO2, while still producing the electricity

The Blind Side Symbolism
The blind side, written by John Lee Handcock, is based on the story and events of the Tuohy
family as they take in a young homeless boy by the name of Michael Oher. A fatherless Micheal
Oher is left in the care of his drug addicted mother in the gang filled projects of Memphis. But
soon things are about to change for him. Through a series of events he is accepted into Wingate
Christian School, which is an exclusive private school, even though his education level did not
meet their standards. During the attendance at Wingate he meets the Tuohy family who take him
in and help him succeed in high school, college, and reach his professional football career as he
became the first round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2009 NFL draft. The Blind Side uses
detailed scenes amplified by dialogue and symbolism to portray the theme of judging a person
by their appearance and past verses judging them by their character and abilities. The first time
this theme is displayed is after Tony Hamilton, father of Steven, goes to Wingate in order to get
his son Steven a better education. After prospecting his son Steven as an all star sports player to
coach Cotton, Tony tells the coach that not only does he want his son, Steven, to attend Wingate
but he also would like Big Mike(Michael Oher) to attend. After the coach looks out the window
seeing Bike Mike and Steven playing basketball he presents their paperwork to the board of
Wingate. As the board is sitting around the table discussing

Abstract:
Technology has had and imperative influence in almost every aspect of life. It has also made an
impact on how we learn today. Some question how effective learning could be via the internet,
while most stick with the familiarity of traditional classroom learning. Either option you choose still
substantiates that technology has changed the way we learn and will continue to expand on its
influences with the ways we choose to progress educationally. Each educational platform has it
disadvantages, however the advantages pose alternatives that can suit an individual s educational
needs.
With technology influencing almost every aspect of common activities, it s not unusual for it to
influence the way we learn. The traditional classroom environment is being challenged with the
implementation of online learning. With major technological advances over the last 20 years, many
traditional classroom environments have been replaced with online learning platforms that create
convenient, accelerated, and comprehensive learning opportunities around the world. Although
some would beg the differ that online learning can replace classroom education completely, online
education continues to improve allowing it to become a more trustworthy alternative for learning.
Since the traditional classroom environment pacifies familiarity in education some opt for

Christian Anchor
The anchor in the Christian faith was previously symbolic of safety because of the importance in
navigation. More recently, the anchor has become a symbol of hope. Hope is extremely
important in the Christian faith since Christ is the infallible hope for all who believe in Him.
Some of the early fathers spoke of this in the same way, but the first time hope was associated
with the anchor, was the Epistle to the Hebrews. It was written that hope is an anchor for the soul,
firm and secure (Hebrews 6:19).
An anchor can be defined as a heavy object attached to a rope and used to secure a boat to the sea
bottom. It symbolically reflects stability and confidence. Christianity teaches that these traits are
discovered in Christ. Those who follow

The Wedding Of Ursula Essay
When telling the story of Ursula s childhood, Lawrence tells us early on that, Ursula was the one

she relies on the hard realities of life and is very caught up in the things outside of her, her mind

Introduction:
The purpose of this lab is to investigate how different factors affect the rate of SN1 and SN2
reactions. SN2 reactions proceed via a one step mechanism in which the incoming nucleophile
attacks the electrophilic carbon center from the opposite side of the leaving group. This reaction
mechanism implies that the stereochemistry of a chiral center will be inverted. SN1 reactions
proceed via two steps, slow dissociation of the C X bonds to form an intermediate carbocation and
a fast second step in which the C Nucleophile bond is formed. Since the intermediate carbocation is

The Importance Of Grief Counseling
Grief counseling is a much needed field in the new millennia. As population grow and expand,
races collide in culture, religion, and grief. It is imperative that Pastors, leaders, and average
society understand the dynamics of grief and suffering. More important, counselors must learn how
to balance their lives and the ones they chose to consul. Griefcounselors need to be compassionate,
attentive, yet balanced in order to be an effective treatment for their clients. Understanding how to
conduct an assessment and intervene with bereaved children, adolescents, adults, and families are
important skills for professionals working in the field of social work, nursing, school and pastoral
counseling, psychology, and other helping professions (Pomeroy, Garcia). A grief counselor s
main objective is to help individuals or families reach closure over the loss or death of a loved
one and begin the process of restoring their lives to a productive means. Each client or family is
different and knowing how to connect with the client s culture and religious quarries can be
draining. Yet, respect of the client s ideology is essential to creating a healing environment. First,
grief counselors must be compassionate. As the care provided to the dying has matured over the
past 30 years with the establishment of the hospice movement, as well as Right to Die societies, it
was inevitable that a new wave of writings would be needed to explain the process of dying to

The Life of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ means numerous things to people: the Son of God, Savior, the Messiah, etc. But many
might still not know what happened during Jesus s life. There are numerous stories in the Bible.
His story starts in the New Testament, though the prophecies about Him are in the Old Testament.
Through the Bible, people have been able to decipher the Messianic prophecies, Jesuss death and
resurrection, and Jesus s return.
The Messianic Prophecies are prophecies about the Messiah. He will end the dark times, and bring
joy (Isaiah 9: 1 7). God will make this possible by giving us Jesus, His Son (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus, who
not only is the Son of God, but also God, will bring peace. He will be the king. This will happen
because God loves us all so much. God then goes on to talk about how His Son will bring justice,
and will not stick out in a crowd (Isaiah 42: 1 7). There was nothing particularly striking about
Jesus, in appearance or demeanor (Isaiah 53:2). Because of others suffering, Jesus felt their
sadness (Isaiah 53:4). God wanted Jesus to suffer in His life so that humans can be saved;
though Jesus never complained. Jesus was the sacrifice. He died for our sins. But He succeeded
in what was needed to be done. Afterward, He would have a remarkable spot in heaven (Isaiah
53:11 12).
Jesus s death is one of the biggest events in the Bible. Judas, who was one of Jesus s apostles,
betrayed Him and gave Him over to the Jews who had been planning to kill Him in exchange for

The Clash Between Samuel Huntington s The West And The Rest
Despite the fact that former president George W. Bush stated on several occasions that there is
no clash of civilizations, or dismissed it as a passing myth of history, the language he employed
all along his War on Terror emphasized a clash of the United States of America, presented as the
heart and soul of the Western civilization believing in democracy, freedom and peace, against an
evil civilization determined to destroy all that. Bush, obviously, projected a world view of
extremes, where there is no middle ground or compromise. He assumed that his citizens and other
nations are either with his administration on the side of good or with the enemy on the side of evil,
leaving no middle choices.
His rhetoric has, therefore, divided the world into Samuel Huntington s The West and the Rest.
Whilst the Bush Cheney administration may have, seemingly, sought to avoid the notion of a clash
between Islam and the West , the rhetoric of clashing civilizations still crept into its discourse. As
the Clash of Civilizations thesis entered the discourse, the Islam versus West debate was boosted
and intensified. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sustainability and Organic Foods
People nowadays are getting into the go green lifestyle while others continue to live without

money, it is the right thing to do, it is healthier because there are less toxins and less illness, it is
helping future generations, and it is a chance to connect with the local community and spread the

Un served food products would be donated to local charities and fryer grease would be collected
and recycled (Shock, 2011, p. 134). I could maybe consider solar panels or reducing the use of

and fresher options comes with a price. Depending on how much you want to change can affect
the financial impact, but generally more efficient equipment and organic foods are more
expensive. So generally if you are eventually upgrade the building, appliances, and food options
to be eco friendly and organic the financial impact will be large but also positive because
overtime you should be making your money back and more as well as helping the environment.
Organic and local foods always come at a higher price because they are naturally grown rather
than artificially with chemicals at a faster rate. Organic farmers work hard to grow their foods
naturally at a much slower pace so they need to increase their prices to make it worthwhile. If a
catering company is buying more expensive foods, it impacts the prices on the menu and causes
them to rise so they can still make profit. These days I believe a company can still be competitive
with higher prices because many people are looking for on premise caterers who offer these

Proposal for SBS 2011 Essay examples
Here at Knight Lite, commitment to long term operations is of great importance. Taking pride in a
growing customer database and knowing how well business has flourished are two key factors in
determining how current operations are beginning to show age and are no longer fit for the
company. Technically, the current in house systems are running Windows 2000 Pro and are
centrally connected to server, with a Small Business Server 2003 configuration. A migration to
newer operating systems highly recommended in order to achieve optimal work performance, with
all terminals upgrading to Windows 7 Enterprise and the server over hauled to Small Business
Server Standard Edition 2011.

Attached is a sample list of requirements for Small Business Server 2011 and comparison to the
current existing setup (Microsoft Technet):

Physical Memory1 GB of RAM8 GB of RAM
Storage Capacity80 GB120

As far as hardware requirement, the real world cost is not too much. A decent home based
server would range in cost from roughly $400 to $500. The Small Business Server 2011
operating system, however, currently sells for about $1,000. The software cost can rise,
depending on the amount of CALs (Client Access Licenses) that are purchased. Customers can
acquire additional 5 packs of CALs for the number of users or devices they wish to connect to
Windows Small Business Server 2011 through Microsoft at about $360 (Microsoft Online Store).
With that in mind, Knight Lite as a company would need to pay around $2,000 to cover all the
users and their devices. Despite the initial cost to migrate to Small Business Server 2011, there are
quite a few benefits that greatly outweigh the negatives, one of these being the configuration of the
server and the user access. Attached is a screen shot of the standard task list that is automatically
displayed when the installation of the server operating system is completed, but not configured

3.5.1 Synthesis of geopolymer samples
The procedure was adopted from LГіpez et al. (2014) but with slight modifications. 20 g of rice
husk ash (RHA) was weighed and placed in three different 250 mL Erlenmeyer conical flasks.
Alkaline activating solution of sodium hydroxide was prepared 24 hours prior to mixing with
calcined clays (Ferone et al., 2013). 100 mL of 8.0M NaOH was added in each conical flask and
the mixture stirred using a magnetic stirrer for 15 minutes. 50 g of calcined clays (CC) was

Informative Speech About Jeepneys
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Philippine Jeepneys
Central Idea: To inform my audience about Jeepneys in the Philippines with regards to its history,
importance in transportation and role in Filipino identity
Introduction
Recently, my friend heard about this Filipino restaurant called Jeepney in the East Village.
She invited me to eat there with her.
However, I am here not to promote the Jeepney Restaurant but, rather, to discuss jeepneys as a
primary mode of transportation in the Philippines. (*)
Growing up in the Philippines, I am very familiar with the jeepneys, and in addition to that, I also
read various articles online.
Today, I want to inform you about Jeepneys in the Philippines with regards to its history,
importance in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(*)
According to Mega Manila Public Transport Study, on page 7, on Department of Transportation and
Communications in the Philippines, as of 2006, there are 48,366 jeepneys in Metro Manila, while
there are only 2,944 busses.
In other words, there is over 16 times more jeepneys than busses in Metro Manila.
(However, jeepneys are not found only in the capital.)
Jeepneys are common transportation in suburban areas too.
For instance, in Tarlac, the province where I grew up, I use jeepneys for my daily activities.
I used in a jeepney countless times to go to school, mall, church or any other local destination,
because it is cheaper than having my dad drive me.
I remember seeing jeepneys after jeepneys throughout the day, so I never had to worry about
missing my ride on my way to school.
(Whether I am in the capital city or suburban location, jeepneys are used for similar travels.)
It is primarily used for local and short travel.
For example, jeepneys are used to travel distance like from Baruch Campus to Central Park.
Because it is open window and ventilated in a tropical country, jeepneys are not ideally used to
travel long distance for

Anthropogenic Effects Of Human Environment And Society
ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY
I will be talking about the anthropogenic effects of human activity on the environment as the part of
society .Human impact on the environment or anthropogenic impact on the environment includes
impacts on biophysical environments, biodiversity, and other resources. The term anthropogenic
designates an effect or object resulting from human activity. The term was first used in the technical
sense by Russian geologist Alexey Pavlov, and was first used in English by British ecologist Arthur
Tansley in reference to human influences on climax plant communities. The atmospheric scientist
Paul Crutzen introduced the term Anthropocene in the mid 1970s. The term is sometimes used in
the context of pollution emissions that are produced as a result of human activities but applies
broadly to all major human impacts on the environment . Understanding of the reciprocal
relationships between social and environmental processes. Environmental geographers are
concerned with how human beings use the earth and how humans impact the environments in
which they live.
Because humans both affect and are affected by their environment, the social and behavioral
sciences have important insights to contribute to questions about environmental decision making
and management of national resources. We need to explore the issues such as how public
participation affects the quality of environmental decisions, how the federal government can
communicate effectively about climate

Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On Yeast
In conducting the experiment, four test tubes were set up; each containing 3 mL of distilled
water, and 0.3 grams of baker s yeast measured on a digital scale. The three independent variables
tested were milk, starch, and sucrose. Milk is composed of the disaccharide lactose, along with
unsaturated fats, and vitamins A and D. Starch, is a polysaccharide consisting of long chains of its
monomer glucose. Lastly, sucrose, also a disaccharide, consists of one glucose molecule, and one
fructose molecule. 0.3 grams of each were measured on a digital scale, and put into separate test
tubes, along with a control tube that contained only water and yeast. In order to fully combine the
solution, each test tube was shook twice, followed by placing a balloon over it in order to track

minutes the balloon over the tube with sucrose had a circumference of 4.5 cm, milk s had a

aqueous yeast solution had risen in all three test tubes, but most prominently in the tube containing
sucrose, which, after 35 minutes had a circumference of 6cm, compared to mik at 5 cm, at starch at
4.5 cm, and the 0cm in the control tube. After 32 minutes, the balloon over the tube containing
sucrose reached its maximum capacity for the amount of gas it could hold, indicated by it popping
off the test tube. At this point, the foam present in each tube was settling closer to the bottom. The
final measured circumference of each balloon was measured at 30 minutes, with sucrose measuring
6.5 cm, milk 5 cm, starch was 4 cm at 30 minutes, and the control tube remained at 0 cm throughout

Eleven people were killed as a result. The spill released more than 4 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. According to various reports this was one of the worst ecological disasters in US History next to the Exxon Valdez. As a result of this incident, a plume appeared in the surrounding area. This plume was initially identified by elevated levels of methane and light aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes, referred to collectively as BTEX). • 9. Essay on Sexual Selection Sexual selection was an idea proposed by Darwin and refers to the process in which males and females attempt to maximize their chances of reproductive success. Within a species there are certain characteristics that make individuals attractive to potential mates. An example of this is in peacocks, female peacocks are attracted to males with long brightly colored tails, even though this makes them easier to be spotted by predators. This characteristic then evolves within the species due to how males with this characteristic have a higher chance of reproductive success and their characteristics being passed on to surviving offspring. Clark and Hatfield helped support this by getting female and male experiments to ask male and female participants if they would like to engage in casual sex. 75% of males said yes while every female participant said no. This helps support the sexual selection theory as it shows that females have to be more careful with mating as they only have a limited amount of opportunities therefore are more likely to enter a longterm mating strategy. Males can have casual sex with little investment so are more likely to then females. This study helps to show the gender differences. Much of the research documenting sex differences in mate choice focus on preferences rather than on real life choices. So a male may have a preference but may have to settle for much less. Mate choice is a product of mate preferences form in the environment of evolutionary adaptiveness (EEA). Sexual selection suggests that females prefer males who they can gain benefits from such as gifts. This is shown in male birds who make nests for females in order to mate with them and also in insects who give nuptial gifts. Sexual selection also suggests that females prefer males who have a strong jawline and prominent cheekbones. These characteristics arise because of a strong presence of testosterone which also helps to indicate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1964, one year after the speech was given, Lyndon B. Johnson signed Executive Order 11246, which signaled the birth of affirmative action. Affirmative action refers to efforts to increase educational and employment opportunities for minorities and women. In November, 1997, California voters did away with affirmative action [at the state level] by passing proposition 209. Some people of color were also against affirmative action because they didn t feel like they made it on their own accord but were hired or admitted to college, etc., because of their skin color and not because of their merits. This inferiority complex is shared by Richard Rodriguez, an American essayist and teacher. According to the biographical sketches in Literacies, Despite his academic success, Rodriguez left the university partly because he was uncomfortable with advantages he felt he received because of his minority status. • 13. How Does Steven King Create Suspense Individual Study Compare the ways Steven King in The Shining and William Friedkin in The Exorcist use techniques to create suspense. Steven King in his 1977 novel The Shining and William Friedkin in his 2001 film The Exorcist establishes that suspense can be created in many forms while both being equally effective in its own right. Although the characters are faced with a horrific dilemma in two very different settings, the techniques used to create suspense can be similar. In both texts suspense is produced through characterization, narrative structure and foreshadowing to create a state of anxious uncertainty for what may happen. Overcome with rage Karras takes the demon with him through a window and down the grey stair way, ultimately defeating it. In The Shining the hotel is mentioned within the first chapter, as Jack is being interviewed. However, it is only until chapter 4 that the reader is allowed a glimpse of the terrible things to come. Delaying the suspense allows for proper character development which will prove important in the long run. The word REDRUM, as stated previously was shown in chapter 4, it is a key word in the book that is repeated countless of times. Every time this key word appears it is accompanied by fear, Danny s fear. By introducing it so early into the story it pushed the reader to ponder the words meaning and because of its sinister association every time it was brought up more suspense was built up. It is later revealed that it was murder spelled in reverse. In both texts the authors use an anti climax principle that is highly effective in creating suspense in the viewer. It works for a system of false alarms followed by the real danger. An example of this is during Jacks possession and he remembers that he had forgot to dump the boiler. There is a race against the clock to save the hotel, which is already building up suspense with questions of will he make it. As he dumps the boiler it seems that he had got there in time, this in turn takes the tension away from the reader until suddenly the hotel blows. The reactions of 3.51kg of oxygen to one kilogram of fuel causes the production of 1.42kg pf water and 3.09kg of carbon dioxide. Simply written out, it would form an equation similar to C8H18+O2+CO2+H2O CO2+H2O. Dismally, this doesn t work as a proper equation, as one would find it impossible to balance out. The balanced equation would be closer to C8H18+O2 CO2+H2O. Now that one is able to balance the equation, we ll multiply the carbon dioxide and water by eight and nine respectively. Now there are too many oxygen on the right side of the equation (product). We move to the left side of the equation (reactant) and change the O2 to 25 /2O2. I could maybe consider solar panels or reducing the use of paper by having reusable menus for example. Becoming more sustainable and having healthier and fresher options comes with a price. Depending on how much you want to change can affect the financial impact, but generally more efficient equipment and organic foods are more expensive. So generally if you are eventually upgrade the building, appliances, and food options to be eco friendly and organic the financial impact will be large but also positive because overtime you should be making your money back and more as well as helping the environment. Organic and local foods always come at a higher price because they are naturally grown rather than artificially with chemicals at a faster rate. Organic farmers work hard to grow their foods naturally at a much slower pace so they need to increase their prices to make it worthwhile. If a catering company is buying more expensive foods, it impacts the prices on the menu and causes them to rise so they can still make profit. These days I believe a company can still be competitive with higher prices because many people are looking for on premise caterers who offer these healthier options. Many people are worried about the increasing obesity rates and staying healthy so they are willing to pay more for those options. Like stated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2014) but with slight modifications. 20 g of rice husk ash (RHA) was weighed and placed in three different 250 mL Erlenmeyer conical flasks. Alkaline activating solution of sodium hydroxide was prepared 24 hours prior to mixing with calcined clays (Ferone et al., 2013). 100 mL of 8.0M NaOH was added in each conical flask and the mixture stirred using a magnetic stirrer for 15 minutes. 50 g of calcined clays (CC) was weighed and added to each of the three Erlenmeyer conical flasks labeled GP 1, GP 2 and GP 3 respectively. The mixtures were then transferred to 250 mL plastic bottles and shaken in a ball mill for 5 hours (LГіpez et al., 2014). The fluid matrix was then poured into ceramic crucibles and cured in an oven at a temperature of 80 В°C for 12 hours. The temperature conditions was then adjusted to 200 В°C for another 12 hours to facilitate complete polycondensation (LГіpez et al., 2014). The ultimate geopolymer materials obtained were washed with distilled water severally to a pH of 7.0 В± 0.5. Filtration was then done using aspirator pump model 7049 05. The residues were ... I used in a jeepney countless times to go to school, mall, church or any other local destination, because it is cheaper than having my dad drive me. I remember seeing jeepneys after jeepneys throughout the day, so I never had to worry about missing my ride on my way to school. • 46. Anthropogenic Effects Of Human Environment And Society ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY I will be talking about the anthropogenic effects of human activity on the environment as the part of society .Human impact on the environment or anthropogenic impact on the environment includes impacts on biophysical environments, biodiversity, and other resources. The term anthropogenic designates an effect or object resulting from human activity. The term was first used in the technical sense by Russian geologist Alexey Pavlov, and was first used in English by British ecologist Arthur Tansley in reference to human influences on climax plant communities. The atmospheric scientist Paul Crutzen introduced the term Anthropocene in the mid 1970s. The term is sometimes used in the context of pollution emissions that are produced as a result of human activities but applies broadly to all major human impacts on the environment . Understanding of the reciprocal relationships between social and environmental processes. Environmental geographers are concerned with how human beings use the earth and how humans impact the environments in which they live. Because humans both affect and are affected by their environment, the social and behavioral sciences have important insights to contribute to questions about environmental decision making and management of national resources. We need to explore the issues such as how public participation affects the quality of environmental decisions, how the federal government can communicate effectively about climate ... • 47. Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On Yeast In conducting the experiment, four test tubes were set up; each containing 3 mL of distilled water, and 0.3 grams of baker s yeast measured on a digital scale. The three independent variables tested were milk, starch, and sucrose. Milk is composed of the disaccharide lactose, along with unsaturated fats, and vitamins A and D. Starch, is a polysaccharide consisting of long chains of its monomer glucose. Lastly, sucrose, also a disaccharide, consists of one glucose molecule, and one fructose molecule. 0.3 grams of each were measured on a digital scale, and put into separate test tubes, along with a control tube that contained only water and yeast. In order to fully combine the solution, each test tube was shook twice, followed by placing a balloon over it in order to track the metabolic rate of the yeast, by...
