Gay and Lesbian Rights
Today s Rights for Gays Lesbians Today s Rights for Gays Lesbians The state and federal laws for
Gay s and Lesbian are unfair and discriminatory. In today s ever so changing world it s hard to keep
up with laws. Most of the laws are printed on a fine line, but the rights for homosexuals are blurred.
With the topic being hot in the media it is hard to get the correct story. Two of the most important
rights that get blurred are marriage and same sex adoption. Same sex marriage is only legal in one
state in the US, Massachusetts. Other than Massachusetts only four other countries allow same sex
marriage. The Netherlands, Canada, Belgium and Spain. [pic] It is unknown how many countries

It also seems as if this is a reenactment of back in the 60 s when people were so harsh towards people
of color. Hopefully if gays and lesbians fight for years they will get the rights they deserve. Now for
my personal beliefs on same sex marriage. I think everyone should have the right to marry the person
they love regardless of age, color, gay or straight. We are all human beings; we shouldn t be placed
into categories based on who we love or what color our skin is. I know within the next 10 years there
will be no laws banning same sex marriage. Same sex couples adopting is another thing lawmakers
don t look so kindly on. Lawmakers seem to think the child will be raised to be homosexual. This is
not true. ..Studies show that children from same sex households have no more emotional or behavioral
problems than children of heterosexual parents (Traves, Spring 2005.Vol.8, Iss. 3; pg. 17) I do not
believe that most people against same sex marriage know or believe that particular study. Traves
(2005) also said that, others even suggests that children with same sex parents are more tolerant of
diversity than their peers and are highly affectionate, responsive and protective of younger children.
To me that made me think that would make the world a better place to live. Children of same sex
families would be better off. Most same sex families are well off. Meaning they own their own home,

Reann And Barbie Song Analysis
1) Opening Credits You Can Tell She s a Princess by Reann
This upbeat melody takes me directly back to my childhood and all throughout high school. I am a
child at heart. Barbie movies have followed me from when I was first introduced to them in
Kindergarten all the way until my senior year of high school. This song in particular is my favorite
Barbie song because it comes from my favorite movie Barbie and the Princess Charm School. The
reason I chose this as my opening credits is because it exemplifies how every girl is a princess in her
own way. Which alone is a powerful message of its own, as well as sentimental value of youthfulness.
Barbie represents all girls and she is a positive role model for all. I always admired watching her

When going through a mental breakdown of all ranges, it did indeed feel like all control was out of my
hands. The line she s falling but she doesn t think he ll catch her is immensely emotion evoking. When
in a state of breaking down mentally, it feels as if no one is there to save or catch you. It is also
extremely difficult to break free from an emotional breakdown. High school has definitely called for
situations that I felt the pressure and broke from it. The slow paced melody is created a trance like
state that forced me to become aware that a mental breakdown is occuring. While this song does not
necessarily help me through a mental break down, it does strengthen my ability to break past

With giants such as Walmart, and Kroger running the grocery store industry it s difficult for
companies such as Smuckers to bargain for shelf space and prices. Brand name items drawn to the
center of the store are what leverages these companies to succeed in the industry. After numerous
acquisitions and strategic alliances, Smuckers developed a solid core of product lines which
experienced success rapidly. Product lines that experienced the most success as a result of strong
positioning in the industry included their Coffee labels, flour and baking products, Oils and food

Summary Of The World Is Flat 3.0 Globalization
Barefoot, Emily The World Is Flat 3.0 is an in depth analysis of the globalization taking place in the
late 20th and early 21st centuries. In the book, Thomas Friedman discusses how globalization has
created a flat world, how the flat world affects everyone, and how to thrive in a flat world. Reading
this book will broadened ones views on globalization and the world we live in, further enlightening
about technology to redefine one s view of success. In The World Is Flat 3.0, Friedman uses the
technological advancements of the last century as a basis for his theory of a flat world. He uses the
term flat to describe the current state of the economic world. The advancements in the field of
technology have led to this flattening, creating a world where it is more efficient and costly to
outsource accounting jobs to India to work for American accounting offices. The World Is Flat 3.0
discusses this issue and many similar issues in an effort to inform adults and students alike of the new
flat world that has occurred while we were sleeping. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before globalization created a flat world, Americans were the unopposed best. Fifty years ago, all
Americans needed to be successful was the ambition and the ability to work hard for what you
believed in. Since then, the world has become a much flatter place and the road to success has become
much harder to find. Fifty years ago, the only competition in a quest for success was your fellow
Americans, whereas now more and more foreign countries have developed their own path to success,
one which is comparable to the Americans . This means it is even harder for Americans to become
successful in this flat world, due to their lack of competition in the past and the cut throat mentality of

Rent To Work
Financial literacy, defined as the understanding about individual or family finances and the application
of the skills to make responsible financial decisions, is one of the progressive economic courses for
individuals and families facing a financial crisis (Delgadillo, 2014). The topics investigated in this
literature review include the importance of financial education for all clients, the effectiveness of
financial literacy, and different approaches to financial literacy classes. The relevance to social work
involves several principles from the NASW Code of Ethics, specifically service, dignity and worth of
the person, importance of human relationships, social justice, and competence (Code of Ethics, 2008).
Also, the NASW specifies that commitment to clients is the primary ethical responsibility for social
workers (Code of Ethics, 2008). Although the literature presents the ... Show more content on

Hysteria In Hemingway s Big Two-Hearted River
In her discussion of shell shock, Elaine Showalter writes, Men were silenced and immobilized and
forced, like women, to express their conflicts through the body. Placed in intolerable circumstances of
stress, and expected to react with unnatural courage, thousands of soldiers reacted instead with
symptoms of hysteria (Showalter 171). In Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River: Part I, Nick Adams
embodies this symptom of hysteria. His actions and interactions with his belongings and surroundings
showcase different dimensions of his recollection of the intolerable circumstances which he faced in
the Great War and the ways in which he seeks to choke his thoughts of the experience. Nick seeks
nature as a source of distraction and recreation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nick ponders the timeframe of recovery for the grasshopper much as he must ponder the time it will
take for his own mental state to return to normal. He realized that the fire must have come the year
before, but the grasshoppers were all black now. He wondered how long they would stay that way
(Hemingway 136). Even though they survived, these grasshoppers are scarred. The color black is
notable here in its representation of death while also being connected with a living insect. Perhaps
realizing the similarity between his own condition and that of the grasshopper, Nick wishes it well and
says, Go on, hopper,... Fly away somewhere (Hemingway 136). This encouragement and interaction
gives Nick hope that he can fly away from the struggles of his own life through camping and fishing,
as he did in the past, and also by pushing thoughts of war from his mind. However, this moment of
optimism is interrupted by the return of the heavy pack to his back. Nick stood up. He leaned his back
against the weight of his pack where it rested upright on the stump and got his arms through the
shoulder straps (Hemingway 136). Nick rises after his contemplation of flight only to feel the weight
of his war experience back on his

Essay on Gender Roles in Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe
Upon an initial reading of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, it is easy to blame the demise of
Okonkwo s life and of the Umofia community on the imperialistic invasions of the white men. After
all, Okonkwo seemed to be enjoying relative peace and happiness before then. He did have a few
mishaps; one of them resulted in him being exiled for eight years. Nonetheless, he returned to his
home town with high spirits and with prospects of increased success. However, everything has
changed. The white men have brought with them a new religion and a new government. Okonkwo s
family falls apart. The men in his village lose their courage and valor; they do not offer any resistance
to the white men. Consequently, Okonkwo kills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the crops were gendered (Okhamafe 127). Coco yams, beans, and cassava were women s crops
(Achebe 23). Yam, the king of crops , was a man s crop (Achebe 23). In Umofia, all that is desirable
and admired is associated with manliness. Anything that is demeaning or scornful is considered to be
womanly. Okonkwo life is dominated by fear, the fear of failure and of weakness (Achebe 13). When
Okonkwo was a boy, his playmates teased him calling, saying that his father was agbala. Okonkwo s
father, Unoka, was lazy. He did not work on his farm; he died in great debt. He did not acquire a single
title. He did not have a barn to pass down to his son. Unoka is a type of man who is scorned in
Umofia. He is seen as weak and effeminate. As Okonkwo grows older, he is determined not become a
failure like his father. His father was weak; he will be strong. His father was lazy; he will be hard
working. Okonkwo earned his fame by defeating the reigning wrestling champion. Okonkwo
diligently plants yam, building a successful farm. He builds himself an obi, has three wives and many
children. His fame rested on solid personal achievements (Achebe 3). Okonkwo will not let one
womanly trait sully his reputation. Therefore, he hate[d] everything that his father Unoka had loved
(Achebe 13). One of these was gentleness. Okonkwo refuses to show any signs of emotion, except his
temper. He

Marble Drop Lab Report
Bryan Ruef
Period 6
AP Physics Lab Report Marble Drop Experiment
Problem:
This lab was designed to prove that the height of an object launched on a ramp is relational to the
distance it goes off the ramp.
Hypothesis:
When releasing a marble off of a ramp on a table, the higher up that the marble starts on the ramp, the
farther it should land from the table on the ground.
Design:
We placed a small ramp on a table and used clamps to ensure the ramp wouldn t move and change our
results. With tape, we marked each height we would drop the marble from. Using a meter stick, we
measured the height of the table, base of the ramp, and the height of each place the marble would be
dropped. On our paper, which we taped to the ground to prevent ... Show more content on

This positive slope shows that as the ramp heights increased, so did the distance the marbles traveled.
However, there were problems with the experiment.
First, the meter stick did not have perfect ends. This caused uncertainty because the measurements
were not accurate. The meter stick was not compared with others to see if it was reasonably close.
Another error was that we did not have a constant release method. We placed the marble on the ramp
each time and just let go. The marble could have stuck to our hand and been released higher or lower
than we wanted it to. Also, there could have been human error since we released the marble by hand
and we could have moved up or down accidentally.
The final error was that we used multiple different marbles for the lab. They could have had different
weights or shapes. Even the slightest difference in shape would affect where it landed.
Solutions to the meter stick error are simple. We could have bought a new meter stick with perfect
ends. If we were not able to buy one, we could have compared it to many other meter sticks and used
whichever one was most

Critical Race Theory Of Race And Racism
Critical theories of race and racism have been used by sociologists to not only describe modern
societies, but also address issues of social injustice and achieve an end to racial oppression. Critical
race theory is one of the most widely used for this purpose. Its utility rests upon the assumption that
race is a social construct and not an inherent biological feature. In place of the concept of inherent
race, critical race theory proffers the concept of racialization. The tenet that the concept of race is
created and attached to particular groups of people through social processes. In tandem with this,
critical race theory contends that identity is neither fixed nor unidimensional. It also places importance
on the perspectives and experiences of racial minorities (Ritzer and Stepnisky, 2013:66).
Critical race theory also provides the framework for the racial formation theory as proposed by
Michael Omi and Howard Winant. Their theory, in keeping with critical theories on racism, denies
race as being of biological construction but the theory then goes on to refute race as either an
ideological construct or an objective condition, and instead looks to a processual construction of
racism, thereby rejoining with critical race theory s racialization concept. Three conditions constitute
the foundation for this theory: applicability to contemporary politics, applicability in an increasing
global context, and applicability across historical time (Kivisto, 2013:384).

Executive Branch Departments
The Executive Branch is most commonly associated with the role of the President. There are many
different types of departments under the president that he directly monitors. Among those
departments, certain responsibilities are handed out to maintain and regulate what is done with our
nuclear weapons. The Executive Branch Departments that monitor and make strategic decisions
involving nuclear weapons in the United States are the Department of Defense, the Department of
Energy, and the Department of Homeland Security. Each of these departments have individual key
roles that regulate the nuclear weapons our country currently has as well as foreign countries.
The Department of Defense plays a large role in its responsibility with nuclear weapons. They are
assigned with creating policies that aligns with the NPR (Nuclear Posture Review) to minimize the
amount of nuclear weapons that are used in our defense (whitehouse.gov). The DOD is responsible for
creating a better plan that utilizes more non nuclear weaponry and strategy for defending our country.

Education Is The Key To A Better, Developed And Civilized...
Education has been told to us as the key to a better, developed and civilized society. With proper
education, there can be no limits to an individual s achievements in life; but on the other hand, lack of
access to education is a major building block to a primitive, backward and uncivilized society. A bad
education system designed not for learning but only to keep children who can not afford private
education in schools is a recipe for oppression as it widens the gap between socioeconomic status,
gender and age. It trains people to be a part of a capitalistic and oppressive society by reinforcing
classism, racism and sexism (Lipsitz, Lozenski, Ford, 2014).
A better society is defined by its quality of education and health standards. It has been notice that
where there the education system is oppressive or oppressed, the health sector follows suit. One
cannot go through an oppressive education system and expect the opposite when it comes to health
care provisions. Therefore the system of education has a direct impact on the health care system of a
society, the rich who benefit from the system of education also benefit from health care system. It
comes into play when I look at the system of education that makes the rich white majority acquire
better education services at the expense of their black counterparts or people with color in the society
(Giroux, 2017).
A system that chooses controlled base on color and social standing in the society has contributed to

Teaching Reading Comprehension Support For Students With Adhd
ADHD and Comprehension
Problem Statement
There is a general problem in providing effective reading comprehension support for students labeled
with ADHD. Despite many programs and modifications in place for students labeled with ADHD to
become as successful as their unlabeled peers, recent studies have demonstrated that students labeled
with ADHD continuously fall short of their peers in many facets of reading comprehension. This
problem has negatively impacted students labeled with ADHD in a multitude of ways during their
academic careers which in turn could lead into lifelong difficulties with reading and comprehension. It
is imperative for teachers to understand the causes that add to the students challenges to appropriately
offer remediation. A possible cause of this problem is not having identified which instructional
strategies and interventions are most effective when teaching reading comprehension to students
labeled with ADHD in the in elementary and middle school grades. A study which investigates the
comprehension deficits of students with ADHD, and identifies the most effective instructional
strategies and interventions in reading comprehension for these students may prove to be a step in the
right direction could remedy the situation.

How Did The Cuban Missile Crisis Change People s...
The Cuban Missile Crisis changed people s perspective on the Cold War. We came so close to a
nuclear war, that people, especially those who worked in the government, realized the true
implications of nuclear wars. This changed the course of the Cold War. To begin with, Fidel Castro, a
Communist revolutionary and politician, seized power in Cuba during a violent revolution in 1959 and
aligned with the Soviet Union. Cuba was extremely dependent on military and economic aid from the
Soviets. Although the US believed that Cuba did not like Castro, most Cubans actually supported his
socialist regime, and believed it benefited their country. The US had already tried to overthrow Castro

when it comes to nuclear war, misunderstandings due to miscommunication are unacceptable. The
Soviet Union and the USA both though more critically about what nuclear war would be like, and the

removal of the missiles from Cuba, but worked extremely hard to avoid casualties of war even when
everyone around him encouraged it. There was officially only one casualty in the Cuban Missile

Ways to Prevent School Shootings
School shootings are terrifying to think about, but there are ways to help prevent the massacres from

Noticing some early warning signs and not being scared to report them can help someone from
making the biggest mistake of their life and saving people from harms way should start with the love
shown from the parents. Having the parents be in the kids life knowing his or her surroundings at all
time can be the key for prevention. Showing our kids love and attention will not make them want to
do harm to others and having your child talk to you if something is bothering them. When you aren t
in the child s life and not knowing what s going on with them could easily make them feel lost inside
and can turn to depression like our parents don t care about them, a key fact is no matter how busy our

time to spend with our child each day, even if its only for a half hour, each time that we show love can
be a key for our child not to do the unthinkable. The key facts from kids that do the shooting is a lot of

Olympic values. All of these show that communism was capable of producing greatness and
nationalism in their people. Geographic expansion should be included in Soviet Union textbooks
because it shows the determination of their country, their leaders need to protect their country, and it
shows their ideals. After World War II in 1945, the Soviet leaders ... Show more content on

In 1980, the USSR had $165 billion in military spending (Document E). Compared to the United
States who had only $131 billion in spending, this brings attention to who is putting more effort into
their military strength. These high military costs, as well as the 2.5 larger nuclear arsenal the Soviet
Union had over the United States (the USSR had 7,836 in total megaton age of nuclear arsenals while
the United States had only 3,253), shows the world their value of coming out on top (Document E).
The Soviet Union felt it had to spend more of its resources in the military... because they were scared
if being over thrown and wanted to be prepared (Document E). Their preparedness can show people
reading the Soviet textbook just how prepared their country could be. Overall, military strength should
be included within Soviet textbooks because if the immense military strength compared to other
countries, were willing to show how much they value coming out on top, and it gives people an idea
of how militarily prepared their country could

Virtue in Oroonoko (The Royal Slave) by Aphra Behn Essay
The story, Oroonoko; or, The Royal Slave, written by Aphra Behn, depicts the main character,
Oroonoko, as being an African prince that lives among his people, whom all abide by a code of virtue
and fidelity. When Oroonoko is faced with a dilemma in his own country and living among a civilized
white society, that are devout Christians, he is confronted with the burden to uphold his code of virtue
and maintain a title of being a Noble Savage by means of loyalty, religious beliefs, and honor.
Oroonoko is able to sustain his code of virtue and fidelity by showing an act of true loyalty that proves
his devotion and love to his lover and wife, Imoinda. After the King, Oroonoko s grandfather,
vigorously takes Imoinda for himself, Oroonoko ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Oroonoko responds to the captain s promise, with his own promise:
Let him know I swear by my honor; which to violate, would not only render me contemptible and
despised by all brave and honest men, and so give myself perpetual pain, but it would eternally
offending and diseasing all man kind....(2333)
After these commitments are made, Oroonoko keeps his promise to the captain, but unfortunately the
captain s promise deems as nothing but empty words. Oroonoko proves that worshiping a God, or a
man s religious faith, is not what holds a true code of virtue, but his true beliefs of honor and
truthfulness.
Lastly, Oroonoko is able to uphold the code of virtue by maintaining his honor and not give into the
evils and broken promises of the deceitful civilized white man. Rather than be destined to a life of
slavery for himself, his wife, and unborn child, Oroonoko displays an act of honor by killing his wife
and unborn child and setting them free. Even through all his misery, Oroonoko is able to maintain his
honor to his dying breath. This is apparent when Oroonoko is captured in the woods after he kills
Imoinda and awaits his death with honor at the hands of the white slave owners.

PSA Blood Test
The PSA blood test is used by doctors to screen asymptomatic men for prostate cancer. A PSA above
4.0 ng/mL is generally considered to be elevated. Since prostate cancer increases the PSA level as the
cancer progresses doctors generally recommend a biopsy if the PSA test comes back abnormally high.
When a factor other than prostate cancer causes the PSA level to raise the elevated PSA is called a
false positive. A biopsy has risks, such as the risk of infection and the risk of excessive bleeding.
Given these two facts some doctors advise that their male patients follow a plan of watchful waiting.
Under such a plan the doctor monitors the patient s elevated PSA over a period of months or years.
During this time some doctors also advise that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, once the cancer reaches to stage 3 the patient has about a 50 50 percent chance that the
cancer will progress. If the cancer is already at stage 4 when the diagnosis is made, the patient
generally only has a 2 3 year life expectancy.
Treatment options for advanced prostate cancer may include hormone therapy, radiation therapy,
orchiectomy (the surgical removal of the testicles), and possibly chemotherapy. Treatment will usually
cause the PSA to drop significantly. Over time, however, treatment ceases to be effective as the cancer
continues to progress. This is typically associated with a new rise in the PSA level. After the treatment
stops being effective, the cancer is fatal. As of the time this article was written approximately 27,000
men a year are expected to die in the U.S. from advanced prostate cancer.
How many of these 27,000 deaths will be due to a physician advising his patient to follow a plan of
watchful waiting and then waiting too long to finally diagnose the cancer? We might never know how
many of these men s lives might have been saved had the physician instead advised the patient to

Ilya Kaminsky s We Lived Happily During The War
I think it s fair to say that a majority of people in the United States get up every morning with only
miniscule problems to worry about. We are not affected by a crashing economy. We don t have mass
numbers of people starving to the point where they are skin and bone. We don t deal with people
trying to kill us for having different religious views as them. We don t have a multitude of corrupt
groups fighting for power over our nation. We don t wake up surrounded by damages of the atrocities
caused by extremist s bombs. Other countries, however, are not this fortunate, and Ilya Kaminsky s
poem, We Lived Happily During the War does an excellent job of pointing this out.
It s clear when reading this poem, the main theme of it is that there are people in this world who are
not nearly as fortunate as us. We feel bad for them and make a big deal out of how horrible their
situation is. Yet, we don t actually go out and do anything worthwhile about it for fear of losing our
own comforting bubble of safety.
The idea of us feeling bad for those in direr situations and crying for something to be done appears
right at the beginning of the poem when it says, And when they bombed other people s houses, we
protested, (Ilya Kaminsky, 1 and 2). This quote is very apparently true to us. The news, for several
years now, has been full of protests saying that we need to offer help to people in war stricken and
terrorist filled countries. This quote could also point out or stand for more

It s Time for a Supranational Sustainable Development Authority
The ingenuity of man that lead to the unprecedented global development of the twentieth century
would certainly not have been possible without the earth s rich natural resources. In this century, Earth
has endured a population explosion, yet still has the agricultural capacity to nourish a global
population of over six million people. At the same time, the quality of life in industrialized nations is
perceived to have risen in tandem with the availability and affordability of mass produced consumer
products made possible by the resourceful use of raw materials and energy. Many trumpet this
situation that man has created, and urge further industrial growth in the ... Show more content on

Then, I will evaluate various perspectives on attaining sustainable development. Lastly, I will argue in
support of two paradigm shifts necessary for serious implementation of public policy initiatives aimed
at its promotion.
An Introduction to Sustainable Development
In 1980 and again in 1992, Presidents Jimmy Carter and George Bush faced rough economic times
and partially blamed environmental policy. Both presidents men that had campaigned as
environmentalists scaled back environmental regulation in hopes of stimulating the economy and their
re election campaigns (Krupp). The men failed on both accounts, and compromised environmental
protection for supposed economic benefits.
Evidence suggests that the environment need not be pitted against economic well being as Bush,
Carter, and many others have done; sustainable development is the key to ensuring well being of today
s citizens as well as future generations.
A 1996 essay by British Member of Parliament Chris Smith analyzed many of the jobs versus
environment claims made by opponents of environmental regulation. Chris Smith states that lost jobs
often attributed to environmental legislation would often have soon been eliminated anyway; in many
cases, environmental policy serves as a convenient scapegoat. He cites incidents in which jobs are
actually created by enactment of environmentally friendly public policy. For example, a

During the initial years of e commerce, many predicted that the internet would lead to a frictionless
economy with lower search costs and availability of better information over the internet. Generally
people feel that if a product is purchased online, they would be in a position to take advantage of the
fixed price displayed online which would in most cases be lower than the retail prices in the customer
s country. However, the headline price displayed is not always depict the full cost of purchasing that
product as the hidden costs are not mentioned. Hidden costs may be shipping charges (postage and
packing), tax liable on purchase.
Several efforts have been made to standardize the way prices are display and online shopping websites
have been very helpful in providing comprehensive details about the cost of products sold online.
Inspite of such efforts made, there are still some unresolved issues concerning the local taxes which
differ from country to country.
Ethnocentric pricing policy
According to this pricing policy the prices are set uniform across the world and the importer absorbs
fright and import duties. This is the simplest of all as no knowledge of the competitors prices and
market is required but the disadvantage of such pricing policy is pricing does not respond to the
market conditions of each national market thus it does not help to maximize the company s

Health Care For The Nigerian Society
In many parts of the Nigerian society, the question of cost, willingness to pay and ability to pay are
important determinants of access to and utilization of health care systems (Omololu, Okunola, Salami,
2012). The Nigerian people realized that many of their countries health care facilities were lacking the
necessary resources and supplies to function sufficiently and effectively, despite the adoption of the
core tenets of comprehensive primary health care in the 1980s. They needed to not only make health
care delivery affordable but also accessible to their people. In response to this need, health Ministers
from several African countries met and fashioned out strategies to accelerate and advance the delivery

The overall goal of the initiative is to ensure access to affordable and essential health services for the
majority of the Nigerian population, to restore consumer confidence through the improvement in the
quality of services provided with emphasis on promoting the health of women and children
(Uzochukwu, Onwujekwe, Akpala, 2004). Cost The Bamako Initiative promoted the idea of the user
fee . This user fee idea advocated for cost sharing and community participation to increase the
sustainability and quality of health care in Nigeria. It was proposed that the user fee would increase
the resources available for health care and improve efficiency as well as equity to health care. The user
fee basically meant that payment was due for health care at the point of services rendered. According
to (source) the payments collected for health care services are referred to as the user fees. The ideals
of user fees is quite variable and can include any combination of drug costs, medical material costs,
entrance fees, and consultation fees. With the user fee implementation out of pocket costs varied for
the type of health care service rendered. For ante natal care (ANC) services, patients were required to
pay out of pocket for their cards, laboratory investigations and drugs (Uzochukwu, et al., 2004). For
immunization such as the oral polio vaccine (OPV1) and measles vaccine, there was no out of pocket

Strict Gun Laws
Guns can take out somebody s life in an instant, now think for a minute. What if you just lost one of
your closest family members to a gun? Gun control laws need to be a lot more strict because the U.S.
alone loses over 30,000 people a year due to gun related deaths. That s over 87 people going down
every day (Watkins). People are against strict gun laws, all they want is a weapon to protect
themselves from other people with guns. If the laws are more strict though, you wouldn t need the gun
because there would be no guns allowed (Harrison). Gun laws need to be more strict so less gun
related crimes happen, people are safe, and it makes it a lot harder for people to get guns.
The United States of America needs a lot tougher gun laws because we have the most weapons in the
whole world and that shows that people could be doing the wrong things for the wrong reason (Everitt
and Pratt). Studies have shown that when people purchase weapons only 60% of the licensed suppliers
do a background check (Everitt and Pratt). According to multiple sources, ¨Gun control laws have ...

them illegally to people without licenses (Leftwich). Also terrorist groups and others like that are

smuggling them over the border. A recent poll was released and it was debating whether or not they
should do background checks at the places they are going to buy them at. 92% of people say they
should and 8% of them say that we should just get rid of guns all together besides the law enforcement
(Leftwich). So the lethal weapons are taking so many innocent lives away that it needs to be stopped

  • 2. Gay and Lesbian Rights Today s Rights for Gays Lesbians Today s Rights for Gays Lesbians The state and federal laws for Gay s and Lesbian are unfair and discriminatory. In today s ever so changing world it s hard to keep up with laws. Most of the laws are printed on a fine line, but the rights for homosexuals are blurred. With the topic being hot in the media it is hard to get the correct story. Two of the most important rights that get blurred are marriage and same sex adoption. Same sex marriage is only legal in one state in the US, Massachusetts. Other than Massachusetts only four other countries allow same sex marriage. The Netherlands, Canada, Belgium and Spain. [pic] It is unknown how many countries allow adoptions by same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also seems as if this is a reenactment of back in the 60 s when people were so harsh towards people of color. Hopefully if gays and lesbians fight for years they will get the rights they deserve. Now for my personal beliefs on same sex marriage. I think everyone should have the right to marry the person they love regardless of age, color, gay or straight. We are all human beings; we shouldn t be placed into categories based on who we love or what color our skin is. I know within the next 10 years there will be no laws banning same sex marriage. Same sex couples adopting is another thing lawmakers don t look so kindly on. Lawmakers seem to think the child will be raised to be homosexual. This is not true. ..Studies show that children from same sex households have no more emotional or behavioral problems than children of heterosexual parents (Traves, Spring 2005.Vol.8, Iss. 3; pg. 17) I do not believe that most people against same sex marriage know or believe that particular study. Traves (2005) also said that, others even suggests that children with same sex parents are more tolerant of diversity than their peers and are highly affectionate, responsive and protective of younger children. To me that made me think that would make the world a better place to live. Children of same sex families would be better off. Most same sex families are well off. • 5. Reann And Barbie Song Analysis 1) Opening Credits You Can Tell She s a Princess by Reann This upbeat melody takes me directly back to my childhood and all throughout high school. I am a child at heart. Barbie movies have followed me from when I was first introduced to them in Kindergarten all the way until my senior year of high school. This song in particular is my favorite Barbie song because it comes from my favorite movie Barbie and the Princess Charm School. The reason I chose this as my opening credits is because it exemplifies how every girl is a princess in her own way. Which alone is a powerful message of its own, as well as sentimental value of youthfulness. Barbie represents all girls and she is a positive role model for all. I always admired watching her movies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When going through a mental breakdown of all ranges, it did indeed feel like all control was out of my hands. It is also extremely difficult to break free from an emotional breakdown. High school has definitely called for situations that I felt the pressure and broke from it. These three goals are focused on the U.S Market. Across its brands Smuckers aims to be the number one product in all of the lines that they compete in. With giants such as Walmart, and Kroger running the grocery store industry it s difficult for companies such as Smuckers to bargain for shelf space and prices. Brand name items drawn to the center of the store are what leverages these companies to succeed in the industry. After numerous acquisitions and strategic alliances, Smuckers developed a solid core of product lines which experienced success rapidly. Product lines that experienced the most success as a result of strong positioning in the industry included their Coffee labels, flour and baking products, Oils and food spreads. A 9 Cell Industry Attractiveness/Business Strength Matrix shows that the Industry attractiveness is relatively moderate. With many competitors and strong buyer power from large grocery chains such as Kroger, companies such as Smuckers have explored different strategies that have proved successful in what can be described as a saturated industry. Reading this book will broadened ones views on globalization and the world we live in, further enlightening about technology to redefine one s view of success. In The World Is Flat 3.0, Friedman uses the technological advancements of the last century as a basis for his theory of a flat world. He uses the term flat to describe the current state of the economic world. The advancements in the field of technology have led to this flattening, creating a world where it is more efficient and costly to outsource accounting jobs to India to work for American accounting offices. Fifty years ago, the only competition in a quest for success was your fellow Americans, whereas now more and more foreign countries have developed their own path to success, one which is comparable to the Americans . Hysteria In Hemingway s Big Two-Hearted River In her discussion of shell shock, Elaine Showalter writes, Men were silenced and immobilized and forced, like women, to express their conflicts through the body. Placed in intolerable circumstances of stress, and expected to react with unnatural courage, thousands of soldiers reacted instead with symptoms of hysteria (Showalter 171). In Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River: Part I, Nick Adams embodies this symptom of hysteria. Nick ponders the timeframe of recovery for the grasshopper much as he must ponder the time it will take for his own mental state to return to normal. Even though they survived, these grasshoppers are scarred. The color black is notable here in its representation of death while also being connected with a living insect. Perhaps realizing the similarity between his own condition and that of the grasshopper, Nick wishes it well and says, Go on, hopper,... Fly away somewhere (Hemingway 136). This encouragement and interaction gives Nick hope that he can fly away from the struggles of his own life through camping and fishing, as he did in the past, and also by pushing thoughts of war from his mind. However, this moment of optimism is interrupted by the return of the heavy pack to his back. Nick stood up. Essay on Gender Roles in Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe Upon an initial reading of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, it is easy to blame the demise of Okonkwo s life and of the Umofia community on the imperialistic invasions of the white men. After all, Okonkwo seemed to be enjoying relative peace and happiness before then. He did have a few mishaps; one of them resulted in him being exiled for eight years. Nonetheless, he returned to his home town with high spirits and with prospects of increased success. However, everything has changed. Even the crops were gendered (Okhamafe 127). Coco yams, beans, and cassava were women s crops (Achebe 23). Yam, the king of crops , was a man s crop (Achebe 23). In Umofia, all that is desirable and admired is associated with manliness. Anything that is demeaning or scornful is considered to be womanly. Okonkwo life is dominated by fear, the fear of failure and of weakness (Achebe 13). When Okonkwo was a boy, his playmates teased him calling, saying that his father was agbala. Okonkwo s father, Unoka, was lazy. He did not work on his farm; he died in great debt. He did not acquire a single title. He did not have a barn to pass down to his son. Unoka is a type of man who is scorned in Umofia. He is seen as weak and effeminate. As Okonkwo grows older, he is determined not become a failure like his father. His father was weak; he will be strong. His father was lazy; he will be hard working. Okonkwo earned his fame by defeating the reigning wrestling champion. Okonkwo diligently plants yam, building a successful farm. He builds himself an obi, has three wives and many children. His fame rested on solid personal achievements (Achebe 3). • 11. Marble Drop Lab Report Bryan Ruef Period 6 AP Physics Lab Report Marble Drop Experiment Problem: This lab was designed to prove that the height of an object launched on a ramp is relational to the distance it goes off the ramp. Hypothesis: When releasing a marble off of a ramp on a table, the higher up that the marble starts on the ramp, the farther it should land from the table on the ground. Design: We placed a small ramp on a table and used clamps to ensure the ramp wouldn t move and change our results. With tape, we marked each height we would drop the marble from. Using a meter stick, we measured the height of the table, base of the ramp, and the height of each place the marble would be dropped. On our paper, which we taped to the ground to prevent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This positive slope shows that as the ramp heights increased, so did the distance the marbles traveled. However, there were problems with the experiment. First, the meter stick did not have perfect ends. This caused uncertainty because the measurements were not accurate. The meter stick was not compared with others to see if it was reasonably close. Another error was that we did not have a constant release method. We placed the marble on the ramp each time and just let go. The marble could have stuck to our hand and been released higher or lower than we wanted it to. Also, there could have been human error since we released the marble by hand and we could have moved up or down accidentally. The final error was that we used multiple different marbles for the lab. They could have had different weights or shapes. Even the slightest difference in shape would affect where it landed. Solutions to the meter stick error are simple. We could have bought a new meter stick with perfect ends. If we were not able to buy one, we could have compared it to many other meter sticks and used whichever one was most ... • 12. Critical Race Theory Of Race And Racism Critical theories of race and racism have been used by sociologists to not only describe modern societies, but also address issues of social injustice and achieve an end to racial oppression. Critical race theory is one of the most widely used for this purpose. Its utility rests upon the assumption that race is a social construct and not an inherent biological feature. In place of the concept of inherent race, critical race theory proffers the concept of racialization. The tenet that the concept of race is created and attached to particular groups of people through social processes. In tandem with this, critical race theory contends that identity is neither fixed nor unidimensional. It also places importance on the perspectives and experiences of racial minorities (Ritzer and Stepnisky, 2013:66). Critical race theory also provides the framework for the racial formation theory as proposed by Michael Omi and Howard Winant. Their theory, in keeping with critical theories on racism, denies race as being of biological construction but the theory then goes on to refute race as either an ideological construct or an objective condition, and instead looks to a processual construction of racism, thereby rejoining with critical race theory s racialization concept. Three conditions constitute the foundation for this theory: applicability to contemporary politics, applicability in an increasing global context, and applicability across historical time (Kivisto, 2013:384). • 14. Executive Branch Departments The Executive Branch is most commonly associated with the role of the President. There are many different types of departments under the president that he directly monitors. Among those departments, certain responsibilities are handed out to maintain and regulate what is done with our nuclear weapons. The Executive Branch Departments that monitor and make strategic decisions involving nuclear weapons in the United States are the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Homeland Security. Each of these departments have individual key roles that regulate the nuclear weapons our country currently has as well as foreign countries. The Department of Defense plays a large role in its responsibility with nuclear weapons. They are assigned with creating policies that aligns with the NPR (Nuclear Posture Review) to minimize the amount of nuclear weapons that are used in our defense (whitehouse.gov). • 15. Education Is The Key To A Better, Developed And Civilized... Education has been told to us as the key to a better, developed and civilized society. With proper education, there can be no limits to an individual s achievements in life; but on the other hand, lack of access to education is a major building block to a primitive, backward and uncivilized society. A bad education system designed not for learning but only to keep children who can not afford private education in schools is a recipe for oppression as it widens the gap between socioeconomic status, gender and age. It trains people to be a part of a capitalistic and oppressive society by reinforcing classism, racism and sexism (Lipsitz, Lozenski, Ford, 2014). A better society is defined by its quality of education and health standards. It has been notice that where there the education system is oppressive or oppressed, the health sector follows suit. One cannot go through an oppressive education system and expect the opposite when it comes to health care provisions. Therefore the system of education has a direct impact on the health care system of a society, the rich who benefit from the system of education also benefit from health care system. It comes into play when I look at the system of education that makes the rich white majority acquire better education services at the expense of their black counterparts or people with color in the society (Giroux, 2017). Teaching Reading Comprehension Support For Students With Adhd ADHD and Comprehension Problem Statement There is a general problem in providing effective reading comprehension support for students labeled with ADHD. Despite many programs and modifications in place for students labeled with ADHD to become as successful as their unlabeled peers, recent studies have demonstrated that students labeled with ADHD continuously fall short of their peers in many facets of reading comprehension. This problem has negatively impacted students labeled with ADHD in a multitude of ways during their academic careers which in turn could lead into lifelong difficulties with reading and comprehension. It is imperative for teachers to understand the causes that add to the students challenges to appropriately offer remediation. A possible cause of this problem is not having identified which instructional strategies and interventions are most effective when teaching reading comprehension to students labeled with ADHD in the in elementary and middle school grades. A study which investigates the comprehension deficits of students with ADHD, and identifies the most effective instructional strategies and interventions in reading comprehension for these students may prove to be a step in the right direction could remedy the situation. To begin with, Fidel Castro, a Communist revolutionary and politician, seized power in Cuba during a violent revolution in 1959 and aligned with the Soviet Union. We are not affected by a crashing economy. We don t have mass numbers of people starving to the point where they are skin and bone. We don t deal with people trying to kill us for having different religious views as them. We don t have a multitude of corrupt groups fighting for power over our nation. We don t wake up surrounded by damages of the atrocities caused by extremist s bombs. Other countries, however, are not this fortunate, and Ilya Kaminsky s poem, We Lived Happily During the War does an excellent job of pointing this out. Yet, we don t actually go out and do anything worthwhile about it for fear of losing our own comforting bubble of safety. Both presidents men that had campaigned as environmentalists scaled back environmental regulation in hopes of stimulating the economy and their re election campaigns (Krupp).
