Character Analysis Of Antigone
The play centers around a young girl, Antigone, that is determined to bury her wronged brother even
though it will end in her imminent death. Creon, the king, has deemed it illegal for anyone to bury
Antigone s brother s body, even though it is the female family member s duty given by the gods to
perform the burial. Antigone stuck to her oath to bury her brother and is caught by Creon and
sentenced to death. One of the main themes in this play is family. Each character s ending will be
tragic due to their loyalty to their family, which is illustrated in Antigone s death because of her
unwavering loyalty to her brother and commitment to his burial. Creon s son, Haemon, shows up
briefly in the play, but has a pivotal role. Haemon is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haemon speaks as though there is nothing more important life than to see his father prosper. In that
quote, it is very apparent that his inherent response to his father s requests were submissive. At first
glance, one may think Haemon s initial decision is based on his love for his father, however, it
becomes apparent that his decision was based on his need to honor his father by showing his loyalty to
Creon s decision. Haemon illustrates this necessity to honor his father when he says, No marriage will
ever be more important to me than justly carrying out your precepts (647 648). Haemon does not say
that he wants to follow his ruling because that is his father or because he agrees with Creon. Creon
believes that he is honoring the gods and the state by sentencing Antigone to death. Therefore,
Haemon believes that if he does not obey his father, he will be dishonoring the gods, the state, and his
own father. Haemon is not loyal to his father because he believes that loyalty is important to family.
He is loyal because intern he will be honoring the gods and the states wishes. Haemon follows Creon s
ruling because if he disobeys, his father will be judged by the people he rules over. Creon is extremely
paranoid throughout the play and believes everyone is trying to betray him, even his own family. If
Haemon were to disobey his orders,

Food Bank Video Analysis
Four examples of food banks issues and solutions to overcome from them. This is true that food banks
are not looking into the problems that make things worse. Food banks usage increased the level of
food safety issues as there are number of issues registered as follows, Currie (2014):
1. One of the things I feel is an issue in the video is that the food bank is not receiving enough from
the community and the government. The bank has helped families for many years such as the
depression and recession. Although, they are not able to help every family they help feed as many as
they can. Food is very limited and the help to feed these families are very limited. In Michigan,
poverty is increasing day by day. The food bank does receive many donations

Environmental Degradation And Its Effects On Our Environment
We, as humans, have always had a prevalent impact on our environment and our world as a whole.
Not only has our societal presence caused negative global impact, but our expedited population
growth has also had an extreme physical impact on earth. An example of the effects of our
extensiveness is, ...86% of the world s resources are consumed by only the wealthiest one fifth of
humanity... (globalissues.org). this means that 4/5ths of the planet already has limited access to
resources that are naturally found on earth. In addition to our excessive consumption of the earth
natural resources, environmental degradation is the result of extreme pollution and wastes that have
made their way into our atmosphere. Because of our severe impact on nature, it is crucial that we stop
the accelerated deterioration of our environment by decreasing our misuse of earth s natural resources,
reducing the use of unnecessary technology in our environment and practicing more ecologically
responsible lifestyles. This can help protect the environment and sustain its natural resources for
current and future generations (thrall.org).
The earth s immense population is one of the biggest factors for environmental degradation. In the
reading Easter s End by Jared Diamond, he discussed the extinction of the Polynesian people of Easter
Island. One of the biggest reasons why they went extinct was because they wiped out their only forest,
ran out of life sustaining soil and turned to cannibalism. This

Chemistry, Gas Lasers And The Co2
Both physicists and chemists have investigated the CO2 anion extensively over the past few decades
because of its importance in atmospheric chemistry, gas lasers, and a multitude of different industrial
applications. It has been observed in a variety of experimental processes such as electron collisions
and high energy applications. As is well known, electrons cannot permanently attach to the CO2
molecule; as such, all CO¬2 anion states are inherently metastable and have finite lifetimes. Despite
the many studies, both experimental and theoretical, there are still a number of unanswered questions,
especially concerning the relationship between short lived and long lived temporary anion states.
Direct electron attachment to the CO2 molecule produces only short lived anion states with lifetimes
in the femtosecond range. These short lived species consist most importantly of the low lying anionic
states 2Πu and 2Σg+ 1 6. They are the main contributor to the electron scattering from neutral CO2.
The 2Σg+ virtual state is responsible for the zero energy peak in scattering experiments with energies
for electron scattering below 1eV, while the 2Πu resonance state can be attributed to the observed
peak in scattering cross sections at about 3.8eV. Long lived CO2 anion states on the other hand, have
been observed with lifetimes in the microsecond, even millisecond range7,8. They can be produced in
processes such as double electron attachment to CO2+ ions9,10, sputtering techniques11,

William Carey Wilberforce
The efforts to limit or prohibit the practice of sati had been made by British officers around the late
18th century, but without the assistance of the East India Company. The first official ban of sati was
imposed in 1798, in the city of Calcutta only but the practice stilled continued in other regions of
India. At the end of the 18th century, the evangelical church in Britain, and its followers in India,
started to promote their movement against sati. William Carey and William Wilberforce were the
leaders of these campaign. They introduced Indians to Christianity due to their love for the Indian
people. The East India Company felt as if they were pressured into banning the act of sati by these
movements.
The actual change transpired when

A Bugs Life Sociological Analysis
A Bugs life is a Disney Pixar animated film which involves Ants and other bugs coming together to
fight the Grasshoppers. Hopper is the dominant male grasshopper character and in the film states that
he wants to keep the ants in line and doesn t care about the food (Bugs Life 1998). In Bug s Life the
relationship between the grass hoppers and the ants can be described and discussed in terms of the
theory of class by Karl Marx (1818 1883).
Marx first stated that because of the economic growth in Europe it turned most people in to capitalists
(Sociology, 2012). Therefore Marx divided capitalism into two separate classes. One being the class
that owned the means of production for example the owners of the factories. This class were also
given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Karl Marx believed that a capitalist society was to blame for alienation of the workers (Sociology,
2013). Alienation involves workers feeling isolated and away from the end product. Which
dehumanizes them making workers feel unsatisfied and feel as though they are unable to improve their
lifestyle. He found particular ways to which capitalism alienates those who work. Those ways were
split in to four different categories, which are: Being alienated from the act of working which is being
alienated from their own choice as they are not given a right to decide what product to make and how
they are going to make it. There is also being alienated from the product, this can be linked to the
Bugs Life as the food the ants provide for the grass hoppers is not seen again after being taken away
from them. The feeling of being alienated from other workers, Marx stated is also a type of alienation
which can also be linked with Bugs Life as throughout the season the focus for the ants is to collect
food from the grasshoppers by walking in single file lines, therefore are not able to talk to one another.
The final type of alienation according to Marx is the feeling of being alienated from their human
potential which is where one lacks the ability to develop and gain knowledge whilst at work which
helps dehumanize them as they are not living up to their human

Theme Of Companionship In A Separate Peace
During the time I was reading A Separate Peace and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night
time, I realized the books actually more things in common than I would ve thought. One way the two
books are similar is how they both have a common theme, companionship. Another common theme in
both books is following the rules and how a lot of the characters chose to not do so. One issue both
books seem to share is the characters in each book seem to have a hard time getting along with one
another and communicating. While I was reading the two novels, they didn t seem that similar to me,
but once I finished the novels, I started to realize how alike they really are.
One common theme you can see through out the time of reading the two novels is companionship.
Companionship plays a big role in how the main characters act in each novel. In A Separate Peace,
companionship is demonstrated by Gene and Phineas becoming friends in the beginning of the novel
and having troubles, as friends, in the middle to late part of the novel. Gene and Phineas being friends
had a lot to do with most of their actions. Companionship is shown in The Curious Incident of the Dog
in the Night Time between Christopher and his dad, Ed. Ed triggered some pretty serious events in the
book and some of them were because of Christopher. For example, Ed was the reason Christopher ran
away to his mother because he was scared of his dad. Also, Ed lied to Christopher about his mom
being alive because he was trying to protect him. Companionship is one of the multiple common
themes between the two novels and I think it s pretty clearly demonstrated in both.
Another common theme between the two books is following the rules and how quite a few characters
from each novel chose not to follow them. A lot of the characters in each novel break the rules or do
something that s just morally wrong like lying. In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time,
Christopher decides to keep investigating about the dog dying case even after his father told him to
stop investigating. Phineas breaks the rules in A Separate Peace when he falls out of the tree hanging
above the river and breaks his leg after he was told not to climb in the tree

Life As A Contest With Fate By Heinrich Von Kleist
When is the proper moment to think? Is it better to think before, during, or after an action? The writer,
Heinrich von Kleist, argues that one should think after an act. He uses the example of a wrestler, The
athlete, at that moment when he is holding his opponent in his grip, simply has no recourse but to act
spontaneously, on inspiration; and if he begins to calculate which muscles to contract and which limbs
to move in order to throw him, he will always draw the short straw and be thrown himself (Kleist,
1810). In this example Kleist is correct that it is more appropriate to reflect on your actions rather, but
is this logic acceptable in all occasions? Or when an individual should think be dependent on the
situation at hand? In the same essay, Kleist states life itself is a contest with fate , however should the
entirety of life be treated as a contest (Kleist, 1810)?
To begin with, is it better to think while you act? In the example stated previously, when the wrestler
thought during he s match, he resulted as the loser. In the film Fearless, Huo Yuannjia s father faced a
similar scenario. During a match to determine the better of two Wushu styles, Hou s father meets
defeat when he became lost in thought. In these situations, the individuals would have a higher chance
of success if they acted on intuition rather than critical thinking. On the other hand, would acting on
inspiration would be best during a test or homework assignment? While working on school

Alison Goodman Analysis
WARNING this novel has no cringe worthy romance!
Honestly this was a cover buy, the synopsis sounded well, but who can say no to a cover with a dragon
and a female holding what seems to be kantana s. I m not gonna lie, this book is like your average
young adult fantasy book, power is entrusted on the main character who comes from nothing but dirt.
The power brings him or her to the ranks of highly honored people. War happens because everyone is
hungry for power, the emperor dies and his handsome son has to save his kingdom and usually
chooses it over the main character, and drama happens with the occasional kiss. Alison Goodman did
just that but better; honestly it was a refreshing twist on the overly done story plot. Although
Goodman used such an overly used story line I was still hooked, shocked, and even surprised! She has

Eon has a secret, in his time this secret is a crime, in today s world it is accepted. Eon weighs more to

remembers. Eona has a hard time letting Eon go, a part of her crafted in the years with her Master.
Little does she know her actions to reconnect her with her dragon just pushes the mirror dragon further

Unfortunately Eon was better at making friends then Eona is. Eona s bond with Ryko is deteriorating

pushes away their friends by doing what they think is right. A noble deed but overly

The Use Of Vivid Color In The Wizard Of Oz
As Dorothy enters deeper into the world of Oz, we see the vibrant color of green in the trees and the
shades of yellow and blue in the flowers (Fig. 3). One remarkable aspect of the Wizard of Oz has to be
Dorothy s red, sparkly shoes, the famous ruby slippers. They were originally scripted as being silver
but half way through the production they decided to change it to red to take full advantage of the
capabilities of Technicolor. Another reason why they were changed to ruby red was so they can stand
out against the brimstone yellow brick road. The yellow brick road and the Emerald City were further
illustrations of the capabilities of
Technicolor. Such vivid colors weren t just for artistic appeal, they often represented other aspects

Technicolor (uncommon for the time) and featured spectacular sets designed to satisfy both the
audience appetite for glamour and Mitchell s insistence on authenticity (Juddery, 2008). The
Technicolor Corporation required production companies to rent their equipment. Having already
worked with Technicolor, Seltznick rented all seven of Technicolor cameras in order to film Gone with
the Film. Alongside using Technicolor equipment, Technicolor also provided a color consultant. The
purpose of the color consultant was to be in charge of all color scenes relating to Gone with the Wind.

Thought About Writing
Writing
I have a lot of thoughts that I want to be able to save. I have a hard time putting them down on paper
because the words do not flow as freely from my brain to my hands. I worry about the correct words,
spelling, punctuation, etc. When I think, I do not have to worry about that. Writing is also slower than
thinking and by the time I get my thoughts out, I have trouble remembering what I was trying to write.
. I also try to edit as I write or type. As I write this, I am doing it with my eyes closed so I will not get
distracted. I had to go back and edit the spelling and grammar. I also don t have a large vocabulary, my
spelling is bad, and my grammar is poor. I want to improve this to help my communication at work
and with others. I would like to write some of my ideas and thought down as legacy for my family so
when I am gone, dead, they will have some way to read my memories and to remember me. As I get
older, I am well aware that I forget many things. I don t recall conversations, vacations, dates and the
like. I also notice when I think, I have emotions, and images and references and links to other thoughts
that don t translate into words. On paper, I have to add additional words to describe what is in my
head. I also find that I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, one notable item is his style of writing as the thoughts come to him and not in chronological
order. If I were to write my own autobiography, I would do the same, I now it would be boring for a
reader to follow my life in order, and would probably not be of much interest of anyone

The City Of Sierra Vista Medical Center Rehabilitation...
In the city of Sierra Vista, AZ a beautiful new hospital stands on the eastern outskirts. A new building

problems or opportunities. Furthermore, past tendencies and or problems with existing employees,
turnover, and lack of quality leadership do not go away with a new building. The need for change in
the Canyon Vista Medical Center (CVMC) rehabilitation department is apparent, but unless the

The amount of conflict between these two groups at CVMC requires intervention.
The Human Process Intervention, focuses on people within organizations and the processes through
which they accomplish organizational goals. These processes include communication, problem
solving, group decision making and leadership (Cummings Worley, 2015, p. 157). More specifically
the intervention that would be utilized to help with the conflict between the PT s and PTA s would be
to do individual interventions and team building. An individual intervention such as the Johari window
is a great tool that allows individuals to gain feedback about their behaviors (Cummings Worley,
2015). The understanding and awareness of their behaviors and how they act among their fellow co
workers could awaken them to change.
Along with individual interventions, team building would be utilized to help with the conflicts
between these two groups. As evident in the past, conflict among these two groups roams, the
prevention and quieting of conflict has been unsuccessful. In the words of Coggburn, Battaglio and
Bradbury (2014) conflict is a fact of organizational life it is inevitable and potentially desirable (p.
499). Putting the PT s, a PTA and a tech together as a team would force these three groups to work
together. In fact, the conflict among them may allow for linked learning, higher creative and increased

Specific Purpose: To inform the audience on the issue of college sexual assault issues on a national
and local level, the role of law enforcement, administration, and prevention tactics.
Thesis: Sexual Assault on college campuses is a rising issue across the nation.
Introduction:
I. Attention Getter
College is a place where people experience many firsts. First time living away from home, first time
having to pay for laundry, and roughly 1 in 5 women and 1 in 16 men may experience their first sexual
assault. (Krebs, C. P., Lindquist, C., Warner, T., Fisher, B., Martin, S. (2007).
II. Audience Relevance Link
According to RAINN, the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network college aged students are at high
risk for sexual assault, whether they attend a university or not.
III. Credibility
As a woman in college, I constantly feel the pressure to watch out for myself and my friends. Having
to watch my drink at every party, always have a buddy and even watching what I wear when I go out
or who I talk to is a continuous reminder of the problem that is sexual assault on college campuses

Stock Valuation Analysis
Stock Valuation
The value of a company s stock may entice an investor to offer money. Without knowing the proper
value of stocks, investors are hard pressed to find the right time to buy or sell shares; and investors
may miss opportunities solely on the stock s market value (Zacks, n.d.). The following sections shall
(1) calculate the Company s SV based on its dividends*; and (2) discuss both those calculations effect
on shareholder value* and the Company s dividend policies.
Calculations
To begin the calculations, the data points of cash dividend* per share, dividend yield*, and the
stockholder s equity* from the Company s FY2012 14 financial statements are required. To obtain the
dividend yield, the following equation shall be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keeping the Company s goal of maximizing shareholder value in mind, the best option based on the
aforementioned calculations is for the Company to increase dividend per share by $1.75. A crucial
source for increases in a business s dividend per share payout is a swing in growth strategy leading to
the business s decision to expend less of its earnings in seeking growth and expansion, thus leaving a
greater segment of profits available to be given to investors in the form of dividends (Maverick,
2015). The uptick in dividend per share gives an investor more bang for their buck as it ultimately
affects the ROI. Further, this is apparent when comparing recalculated ROI. In Table 3: ROI
Comparisons, ROI #1 represents the ROI based on actual dividends per share; ROI #2 represents the
recalculation based on the $1.75 increase.
Table 3: ROI Comparisons
Fiscal Year (FY) ROI #1 ROI #2 % Increase
2012 1.67% 3.42% 205%
2013 1.71% 3.46% 203%
2014 2.24% 3.99% 178%
Based on the comparison, the increased dividend per share clearly supports the idea of shareholder
maximization, while the other options are not as supportive.
Dividend Policies
The Company has noted that, in addition to making disciplined decisions regarding capital allocations,
focus has been maintained on expense control, resulting in higher returns on invested capital and
allowing for a return of value to shareholders through $7.0 billion in share repurchases and $2.5

character, Lemuel Gulliver, finds himself on an island inhabited by two main species amp;#8211; the

This seems too inhuman, and it appears that it would be impossible to be that intelligent and noble, yet
still disregard the importance of death. Overall, however, Gulliver amp;#8217;s view of the
Houyhnhnm is a perfectionistic vision of how human nature, for the most part, should be amp;#8211;
ruled by reason.
The amp;#8220;negative ; extreme of human nature that Gulliver encounters is the Yahoos. The
Yahoos are naked, dirty creatures that physically resemble humans: amp;#8220;My horror and
astonishment are not to be described, when I observed, in this abominable animal, a perfect human
figure amp;#8230; ; (Swift 186). Immediately, Gulliver does not want to be considered one of the
Yahoos. He never takes off his clothes to reveal his likeness to the Yahoo body. The Houyhnhnms still
regard Gulliver, however, as either a amp;#8220;noble Yahoo ; or something in between a Yahoo and a
Houyhnhnm it seems they are unable to decide. At one point, one of the Houyhnhnms describes
Gulliver amp;#8217;s body to be extremely inefficient: amp;#8220;That I could not walk with any

In October of 2014, there was plenty of buzz floating around the state of Missouri. This buzz was all

Foreign Countries Should Not Help Out A Less Developed...
Throughout history, many have debated about whether a wealthier country (developed) should help
out a poor, less developed countries. The U.S. disbursed $33.2 billion $19 billion in economic
assistance to 184 countries and $14.2 billion in military assistance to 142 countries. (Forbes) Is it
beneficial for a more developed nations to help out a less developed country?
There are billions of dollars that developed countries give to the developing countries to say that they
are helping the poor and that they are bring the poor countries up out of the dirt. But studies have
shown that giving money alone does not help, it could actually make the country worse off. Foreign
countries should not give money to developing nations because the developing countries become too
reliant on the developed countries, it does not help the developing countries, and with money, comes
corruption. The better way for foreign aid to work which is to give technological aid. A quote from
Maimonides, Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a
lifetime. This quote tells a tale of how society works and the importance of learning. This can be
applied to a multiple of things like how a developed country needs to teach another country how to
survive. The developed countries are just giving money and food instead of teaching the public about
how to grow food and how to have a stable economy. Countries around the world that depend on

Its being frequently used has made the exact definition of awareness been left undetermined.
Nevertheless, the term of awareness is perpetually accompanied with the level of knowledge, as seen
the studies of Aadam T. Aris (2012), Joyce K.H. Nga (2010) and Indrani R. Halady, 2010), or with
certain level of engagement in the practice (Faisal Talib, 2012), or recognition and assigning oneself to
the subject matter (Gudmundur Aevar Oddsson, 2010), or understanding and perception (Diana
Bowman, 2007), or exposure to subject without in depth knowledge (Donna Morrison, 2012) or even
relating awareness to the fact of knowing the existence of the subject matter, differentiating it from
knowledge (Akinniyi A. Adeleke, 2012). A research was also conducted to investigate a level of
awareness by asking the respondents to rate their performance as to prove their level of awareness
towards their physical activities, and this was even validated with heart rate monitors and
accelerometers (Stef P.J. Kremers, 2008). Appreciation on the other hand brings along a different
dimension. Superficially the term appreciate denotes liking and preferability. In Alain d Astous (2007),

How Does Muriel Spark Criticize Miss Brodie
Muriel Spark uses an omniscient point of view throughout her novel, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie,
to show all the thoughts and behaviors of each character in the novel objectively. Through the
omniscient viewpoint, readers can think in many different ways about everything that occurs in the
novel, regardless of the writers intentions. Since novels with omniscient viewpoint usually do not
show the writer s intention explicitly, it is hard to find any subjective description of characters at a
glance. Even though Spark does not use any negative expression to depreciate Miss Brodie, I was able
to catch her intended criticism and sympathy towards Miss Brodie from several parts in the novel.

Maybe she thinks that she leads her students pretty well, but the problem is, she does so excessively.
She wants her students only to follow her thoughts. Furthermore, she destines their futures no matter
what they want to do. Although real teachers should know how to lead their students out in a good
way, it should be based on individuals potential. Do you know, Sandy dear, all my ambitions are for
you and Rose. You have got insight, perhaps not quite spiritual, but you re a deep one, and Rose has
got instinct, Rose has got instinct (Spark 114). Miss Brodie does not have any interest in her students
potential. She keeps saying this to Sandy and Rose because she wants something from them, as if she
tries to brainwash them in the name of her prime. It is not focused on neither their potential nor their
will. She does not help her students to evolve, but rather causes them to regress, depriving them of
their free will. Spark implicitly criticizes Miss Brodie that she is not a proper person to teach young
students by showing the conflict between her contradictory behavior and her

Periodic Trends Lab
In this lab, students compared the periodic trends of the elements in comparison to the atomic number.
A periodic trend is the tendency of certain properties of the elements to increase or decrease as one
progresses along a row or column of the periodic table. The periodic table is arranged in such a way
that these trends are easy to compare, which is the purpose of this lab. One trend, for example, is
between the electronegativity and the atomic number on an element, another being the density. When
comparing the trends, notice that electronegativity decreases when going down the groups, or
columns, of the period table, whereas the density increases. The reason for the increase in the density,
which is the relationship between the mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The noble gases are the gaseous elements helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon, in group 18
of the periodic table. Additionally, they are considered the most unreactive of the elements, due to the
fact that the valence electrons are all full , thus making the group the most stable, as well. When it
comes to the periodic trends, the noble gases have the some of the lowest densities because they are
gaseous elements, meaning they state of matter consisting of particles that have neither a definite
volume nor definite shape. The lack of electronegativity of the noble gasses is based off of their group,
which already has a full outer shell, meaning they do not attract any electrons. In final analysis, the
electronegativity and density periodic trends trends are fairly consistent. Electronegativity decreases
when going down groups, while density increases. However, the outliers of these trends are the noble
gases, because of their stable, unreactive properties. In addition to helping students learn about
periodic trends, it also demonstrated to students how these trends were of great use for previous
scientists when they worked together to discover new elements that were missing on the periodic

Swing Music Essay example
Swing Music
During the nineteen thirties and nineteen forties a certain style of music became very popular. This
style of music became known as swing . It was performed using rhythmic riffs and is referred to a
style of dance and band arrangements. America maintained swing s popularity throughout the World
War Two years when both large and small ensembles toured Army and Navy camps both at home and
abroad. At home, swing was heard at bond sale rallies and community concerts. The new sub culture
of women workers also adapted boogie woogie and other novelty and jive styles. There are two forms
of swing; performed swing and recorded swing. Recorded swing was stricter, and performed swing

East Coast swing, otherwise known as the Jitterbug is another type of swing dancing. It is more social
and less acrobatic. Although this style of swing is what most people learn at first, it is not really a
swing era dance. (This dance is learned as, One and two, three and four, rock step. ) Most swing dance
had an eight count rhythm. (Counting to eight, with each beat equal to one step.) With the evolution of
the 12 bar blues, however, the jitterbug lost two counts and became the dance of early rock and roll. It
is taught as a swing dance, however, because it is much easier to grasp than the Lindy. This dance was
not created until the 1950 s. The version that is taught most often is done to fast big band music and is

Another type of swing is West Coast Swing. It is a six count or eight count dance where the man
moves the woman in a straight line, the slot , while he steps out of the way, instead of the circular
patterns of the Lindy Hop. The dance is also danced to much slower music than East Coast which
allows for more time for intricate steps and synchronized movements between partners.

Casino Legislation Impacts The Local And State Economy
Casino legislation impacts the local and state economy. How it affects the economy fluctuates
depending on surrounding circumstances. These circumstances include location and who owns the
casino. A local casino will result in changes in Government revenue, public services, and surrounding
businesses. Casinos bring a local economy a new tax source and new jobs but it is crucial to look
further to see if casinos boost the local economy. In one article the writers state the benefits of the new
casino including new jobs and investment. Felsentein, Littlepage, Klacik (2000) then explain that
many casino jobs however require some specific training. This means many employees commute to
work. Also some of local casino employees leave previous jobs in community to come work in the
casino. The casino is not creating for the local economy if workers are commuting or leaving old jobs
(Felsentein, Littlepage, Klacik, 2000)
Where a casino is located is critical to how it affects the economy. A typical local casino does not
bring money to the area like Las Vegas or Atlantic City does. This is because most gamblers in these
two areas are tourist. Tourists bring money to an economy. In many local casinos the gamblers live in
the same city as the casino. When this is the case, gamblers are not bringing money to the economy;
they are transferring money that was already in the local economy. In an article written in 2002, the

United States Government Essay
United States Government
The United States has a deeply rooted and embedded tradition through the Constitution of having a
federalist style of governing as its structural framework for operating and guiding the government of
the country. The form of governing is best described as a balance between powers of the central
government and the powers of each independent and autonomic state. Federalism is a system in which
the power to govern is shared between national and provincial (state) governments, creating what is
often called a federation (Wikipedia 1).This style of governance has not been the only structure

The decision by a nation of people to implement one of the three main forms of government,
confederacy, unitary, or federalism, is an important aspect in defining the nature and role of
government in the lives of its citizens. Confederacies exist as a group of autonomous individual states,
regions, or member components who form a national body, or centralized government, to represent
their independent interests at a more regional and international level. The existence of the national
government is derived from the consent of each governed autonomous state or region. The entities that
submit to this central ruling authority are able to withdraw from the compact that binds them together.
The national authority created is only bestowed with the powers, authority, and privileges which the
independent components in the confederacy allow. If any member component feels its interests are no
longer being served or the compact has interfered with its autonomy, then that entity of the
confederacy can sever its ties with the national body. This can occur because the state, region, or
member component has the supreme ultimate authority over its own affairs. As further examination
and analysis will demonstrate there is no inherent authority invested into the national government as is
the case of a federalist system. The most relevant examples of a

Cultural Factors In The Sociocultural Environment
There are many things in life that influence our development in some shape or form. Whether in a
positive or negative way, influence is something that surrounds us, our children and family and may
determine the way we develop. We are all prone to influences in our environment. Although there are
many factors that influence us, one specific example are the sociocultural factors we are surrounded
by in our everyday lives. This paper will be discussing the strengths and weaknesses in the
sociocultural environment that influence both children and families.
Growing up in dangerous neighborhoods, having neglectful parents, or simply going through natural
disasters are a few negative ways sociocultural factors may influence the way children and families
develop. There are many people living in safe neighborhoods but there is also a decent amount of
families who are living in very dangerous areas. There are areas in this city where crime is rarely ever
seen, but there are also many areas where crime is seen on a daily basis and many families are going
through that and have to either see it or live through it. This impacts a child a whole lot because they
grow up hearing about people getting shot, people drug dealing, being addicted to alcohol and a
variety of negative lifestyles children and families should not have to live through. Sadly, sometimes
in between all this going on, children grow up having parents that may always be working or worse,
be criminals. The parents

Using facts and figures Morgan is able to quickly and efficiently provide credibility to his statements
while simultaneously providing an even greater incentive to change, to not be a statistic. However, as
evidenced by some of his statistics humanity is quite far gone. For instance Fashion a $2.5 trillion
sector is the second most polluting industry on Earth, right behind oil (Morgan). By comparing
fashion s pollution to that of the oil industry Morgan is constructing a horrible reality and affixing it to
ours with the fashion industry s own dirty threads, with the facts. However, he doesn t stop there. He
then gives the audience a reason to care by using a figure that may include them 1 in 6 humans on
Earth are somehow involved in the global fashion industry (Morgan). This further cements the
message that the fashion industry is far reason. This combined with the previous figure illustrates a
clear need for some form of change. Finally, Mogan shows just how much of the industry isn t being
regulated by the rules in which we expect them. He does this by showing the awful conditions the
workers must endure in other countries and then uses this figure, ...97 percent [of clothes are now]
made abroad (Morgan). This figure is truly troubling as when an item is made abroad the consumer
loses control of how it s made. Loss of control is infuriating to a capitalist market.

regarding the role desire plays in a virtuous life. As academics and philosophers who hold high rank in
the social system of ancient Greece, these men are praised for their wisdom and eloquence. One such
philosopher, Pausanias, gives a speech early in the text that addresses desire as a multifaceted concept,
setting the tone for the novel. The Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Indian text that is much revered in
modern Hindu culture, considers the same concepts of desire and virtue, but is written as a dialogue
between the warrior prince Arjuna and his charioteer, the deity Krishna. Within the text, Krishna
addresses Arjuna s concerns regarding his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, for Pausanias, desire of such worldly and mortal objects is a manifestation of an inferior
type of love. Of the man who succumbs to this love, Pausanias says, He is not constant, because he
loves something that is not constant: as soon as the bloom of the body fades, which is what attracted
him, he flies away and is gone , bringing disgrace on all he said and promised, (Plato 16). The fickle
nature of worldly desire is illuminated by the flower metaphor Pausanias uses; the beauty of a flower,
the bloom, is akin to the superficiality of earthly desire, and neither is the foundation of lasting love.
Physical desire and the resulting attachment to the material world cause disgrace for the soul who
delights in such cravings. While Pausanias warns against over attachment to physical objects in The
Symposium, the deity Krishna completely condemns the material world in The Bhagavad Gita. For
Krishna, desire of sensuous objects is the root of evil, trapping the soul and bringing it
harm.Concerned only with these sensuous object, Arjuna is rebuked on the battlefield by Krishna, who
says, Contacts with matter make us feel heat and cold, pleasure and pain. Arjuna, you must learn to
endure fleeting things they come and go! (Miller 33). Krishna extends Pausanias s warning to all
physicality, saying that desire of any physicality is dangerous to the soul. In a

Heroic Definition
The English dictionary defines a hero as a person, typically a man, who is admired for his courage,
outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. In most forms of literature from ancient times to the
modern day era, the heroic character in a story has often been portrayed as a male possessing qualities
such as courage, strength, and determination. In most heroic stories the female victim is typically
delicate, naive, and defenseless. What she lacks in strength she makes up for in kindness. Some people
would look at an athlete or a performing artist and say oh that s my hero but they fail to meet my
definition of a hero. My definition of a hero is someone ordinary who does something extraordinary
not necessarily for themselves but to help

End Of Life Care Analysis
Activity 1: The author seeks to differentiate end of life care from palliative care in the context of
symptom management. The former being comfort care for advanced incurable illness and the latter
being the managing quality of life in acute or chronic patients. The focus of palliative care is pain
management but the unpredictable referral point means patients can have an array of presenting
symptoms for an indeterminate time period. Some of the symptoms include nausea, vomiting,
dyspnoea, and delirium. Symptoms that can cause significant distress and discomfort to a patient if not
managed. Therefore, individualized care is necessary for proper holistic treatment in palliative care.
Proper management of symptoms starts with communication,

Nazario Grande Analysis
As Enrique continues to get closer and closer to the United States he decides that he needs more
money to keep him going. The brick maker offers yet another kindness: if Enrique will work, he will
get both food and a place to sleep (Nazario, p.131). This is good for Enrique. He will be able to make
some money and finish up his journey to the United States. The final challenge for Enrique is the Rio
Grande. He knows that this will be the hardest part of the trip. He can taste the American soil, but this
is where many of the migrants endure the hardest part. For a while Enrique stays in camps that will
help him cope with the process of crossing the river. The encampment he has joined is a haven for
migrants, coyotes, junkies, and criminals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once they meet they both reminisce on his journey and his life in Honduras. After a little time in the
United States Enrique is given opportunities to work and make money. Soon enough him and his
mother get into a little fight about his girlfriend back at home. I sent money. I supported you. That is
raising you! (Nazario, 195). Lourdes keeps reinforcing that she raised him from afar but Enrique
insists she had no part in it. Enrique is working to send home money for his girlfriend Maria and soon
to be baby. He makes enough to pay for himself and part of his family and sends a few dollars back to
Honduras. The Honduran economy is heavily dependent on money sent home from migrants: In 2012,
15.7% of Honduras s GDP ($3 billion) came from remittances the vast majority of which were U.S.
based, according to Pew Research analysis of World Bank data (George Gao). This shows how much
money that is sent back home for the migrants families. According to globalization The total external
debt of developing countries of 2007 was totaling $3.3 trillion dollars (Steger, 44). This shows that the
amount of money sent back home would not even contribute to helping the global south countries get

Evil In The East And The West Essay
The Problem of evil in the East and the West
Although the problem of evil questions the existence of God in the West, it seems not to be a big
problem in the East for the different definitions of God and evil in the Western and the Eastern
religions. To know the different Eastern and Western attitudes towards the problem of evil, the
essences of the problem of evil as well as the corresponding consequences caused by the problem of
evil in the Western and the Eastern religions and the reasons behind consequences would be discussed.
In essence, the problem of evil is caused by the perfect antagonism relationship of the God and evil
once evil exists, the existence of a perfect God would be doubted. In Western religions like
Christianity and Judaism, God exists as a perfect one all loving, all powerful and all knowing. Just like
Charles Taliaferro mentioned, how can the omnipotent, omniscient and completely good God coexist
with the evil? (Taliaferro) If the truth is that God exist together with evil, then God is not all loving, all
powerful nor all knowing, otherwise God will save us from the evil.
Moreover, if God s omnipotence and goodness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Buddha himself is not all knowing, all powerful and all knowing as to be the opposite side of the
evil . Second, the Mara exists together with the Samsara which is unavoidable. Men can only get out
of the Samsara on his way to becoming Buddha then he can get rid of Mara. The existence of Mara
(Buddhism evil) would not doubt the existence of Buddha (Buddhism God). Actually, the existence of
Maras may strengthen people s belief to get through the eightfold path of morality and meditation and
becoming a Buddha. From the difference in the the relationship between God and evil in the Eastern
and Western religions, the problem of evil at least is not a problem for

Damned In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Nowadays, individuality is perched on top of the highest pedestal. There s nothing that compares with
the ability to stand apart from each other and no one dares take that away. But in Ayn Rand s novella
called Anthem, it is the complete opposite; there are numerous Councils who are in charge of
everything for the people. Some of the things include, what jobs and what future people have and also
they regulate intelligence and inventions. Equality 7 2521, later renamed Prometheus, is a member of
this dystopian society; he isn t at all similar to his brothers. This, leads to his urge to break away from
them. The Council and the society damn him because of his actions and brain, but after his escape, he
realizes this damnation is hilarious because they are the damned, not him. Equality ... Show more

Their plan had not come through and it only made matters worse. While he was on the job, he came
across a lovely woman working in the fields, Liberty 5 3000, later, The Golden One and also, Gaea.
He had grown fond of her and would go and see her whenever possible. In those times, when he wasn
t sweeping streets or seeing her, he would visit his tunnel; where he discovered electricity. When he
realized that the World Council was meeting he walked out of the Corrective Palace of Detention and
took himself and his box to the City to the Home of the Scholars. When presented the box and told he
was a street sweeper they all gasped in repugnance and said. We have much to say to a wretch who
have broken all the laws and who boast their infamy... How dared you think that your mind held
greater wisdom than the minds of your brothers? And if the councils had decreed that you should be a
street sweeper, how dared you think that you could be of greater use to men than in sweeping the
streets... How dared you, gutter cleaner, to hold yourself as one alone and with the thoughts of the one
and not of the

  • 2. Character Analysis Of Antigone The play centers around a young girl, Antigone, that is determined to bury her wronged brother even though it will end in her imminent death. Creon, the king, has deemed it illegal for anyone to bury Antigone s brother s body, even though it is the female family member s duty given by the gods to perform the burial. Antigone stuck to her oath to bury her brother and is caught by Creon and sentenced to death. One of the main themes in this play is family. Each character s ending will be tragic due to their loyalty to their family, which is illustrated in Antigone s death because of her unwavering loyalty to her brother and commitment to his burial. Creon s son, Haemon, shows up briefly in the play, but has a pivotal role. Haemon is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Haemon speaks as though there is nothing more important life than to see his father prosper. In that quote, it is very apparent that his inherent response to his father s requests were submissive. At first glance, one may think Haemon s initial decision is based on his love for his father, however, it becomes apparent that his decision was based on his need to honor his father by showing his loyalty to Creon s decision. Haemon illustrates this necessity to honor his father when he says, No marriage will ever be more important to me than justly carrying out your precepts (647 648). Haemon does not say that he wants to follow his ruling because that is his father or because he agrees with Creon. Creon believes that he is honoring the gods and the state by sentencing Antigone to death. Therefore, Haemon believes that if he does not obey his father, he will be dishonoring the gods, the state, and his own father. Haemon is not loyal to his father because he believes that loyalty is important to family. He is loyal because intern he will be honoring the gods and the states wishes. Haemon follows Creon s ruling because if he disobeys, his father will be judged by the people he rules over. Creon is extremely paranoid throughout the play and believes everyone is trying to betray him, even his own family. If Haemon were to disobey his orders, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Food banks usage increased the level of food safety issues as there are number of issues registered as follows, Currie (2014): 1. One of the things I feel is an issue in the video is that the food bank is not receiving enough from the community and the government. The bank has helped families for many years such as the depression and recession. Although, they are not able to help every family they help feed as many as they can. • 4. Environmental Degradation And Its Effects On Our Environment We, as humans, have always had a prevalent impact on our environment and our world as a whole. Not only has our societal presence caused negative global impact, but our expedited population growth has also had an extreme physical impact on earth. An example of the effects of our extensiveness is, ...86% of the world s resources are consumed by only the wealthiest one fifth of humanity... (globalissues.org). this means that 4/5ths of the planet already has limited access to resources that are naturally found on earth. In addition to our excessive consumption of the earth natural resources, environmental degradation is the result of extreme pollution and wastes that have made their way into our atmosphere. Because of our severe impact on nature, it is crucial that we stop the accelerated deterioration of our environment by decreasing our misuse of earth s natural resources, reducing the use of unnecessary technology in our environment and practicing more ecologically responsible lifestyles. This can help protect the environment and sustain its natural resources for current and future generations (thrall.org). The earth s immense population is one of the biggest factors for environmental degradation. In the reading Easter s End by Jared Diamond, he discussed the extinction of the Polynesian people of Easter Island. One of the biggest reasons why they went extinct was because they wiped out their only forest, ran out of life sustaining soil and turned to cannibalism. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Chemistry, Gas Lasers And The Co2 Both physicists and chemists have investigated the CO2 anion extensively over the past few decades because of its importance in atmospheric chemistry, gas lasers, and a multitude of different industrial applications. It has been observed in a variety of experimental processes such as electron collisions and high energy applications. As is well known, electrons cannot permanently attach to the CO2 molecule; as such, all CO¬2 anion states are inherently metastable and have finite lifetimes. Despite the many studies, both experimental and theoretical, there are still a number of unanswered questions, especially concerning the relationship between short lived and long lived temporary anion states. Direct electron attachment to the CO2 molecule produces only short lived anion states with lifetimes in the femtosecond range. These short lived species consist most importantly of the low lying anionic states 2Πu and 2Σg+ 1 6. They are the main contributor to the electron scattering from neutral CO2. The 2Σg+ virtual state is responsible for the zero energy peak in scattering experiments with energies for electron scattering below 1eV, while the 2Πu resonance state can be attributed to the observed peak in scattering cross sections at about 3.8eV. Long lived CO2 anion states on the other hand, have been observed with lifetimes in the microsecond, even millisecond range7,8. They can be produced in processes such as double electron attachment to CO2+ ions9,10, sputtering techniques11, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. A Bugs Life Sociological Analysis A Bugs life is a Disney Pixar animated film which involves Ants and other bugs coming together to fight the Grasshoppers. Hopper is the dominant male grasshopper character and in the film states that he wants to keep the ants in line and doesn t care about the food (Bugs Life 1998). In Bug s Life the relationship between the grass hoppers and the ants can be described and discussed in terms of the theory of class by Karl Marx (1818 1883). Marx first stated that because of the economic growth in Europe it turned most people in to capitalists (Sociology, 2012). Therefore Marx divided capitalism into two separate classes. One being the class that owned the means of production for example the owners of the factories. This class were also given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Karl Marx believed that a capitalist society was to blame for alienation of the workers (Sociology, 2013). Alienation involves workers feeling isolated and away from the end product. Which dehumanizes them making workers feel unsatisfied and feel as though they are unable to improve their lifestyle. He found particular ways to which capitalism alienates those who work. Those ways were split in to four different categories, which are: Being alienated from the act of working which is being alienated from their own choice as they are not given a right to decide what product to make and how they are going to make it. There is also being alienated from the product, this can be linked to the Bugs Life as the food the ants provide for the grass hoppers is not seen again after being taken away from them. The feeling of being alienated from other workers, Marx stated is also a type of alienation which can also be linked with Bugs Life as throughout the season the focus for the ants is to collect food from the grasshoppers by walking in single file lines, therefore are not able to talk to one another. The final type of alienation according to Marx is the feeling of being alienated from their human potential which is where one lacks the ability to develop and gain knowledge whilst at work which helps dehumanize them as they are not living up to their human ... • 8. Theme Of Companionship In A Separate Peace During the time I was reading A Separate Peace and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time, I realized the books actually more things in common than I would ve thought. One way the two books are similar is how they both have a common theme, companionship. Another common theme in both books is following the rules and how a lot of the characters chose to not do so. One issue both books seem to share is the characters in each book seem to have a hard time getting along with one another and communicating. While I was reading the two novels, they didn t seem that similar to me, but once I finished the novels, I started to realize how alike they really are. One common theme you can see through out the time of reading the two novels is companionship. Companionship plays a big role in how the main characters act in each novel. In A Separate Peace, companionship is demonstrated by Gene and Phineas becoming friends in the beginning of the novel and having troubles, as friends, in the middle to late part of the novel. Gene and Phineas being friends had a lot to do with most of their actions. Companionship is shown in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time between Christopher and his dad, Ed. Ed triggered some pretty serious events in the book and some of them were because of Christopher. For example, Ed was the reason Christopher ran away to his mother because he was scared of his dad. Also, Ed lied to Christopher about his mom being alive because he was trying to protect him. Companionship is one of the multiple common themes between the two novels and I think it s pretty clearly demonstrated in both. Another common theme between the two books is following the rules and how quite a few characters from each novel chose not to follow them. A lot of the characters in each novel break the rules or do something that s just morally wrong like lying. In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, Christopher decides to keep investigating about the dog dying case even after his father told him to stop investigating. Phineas breaks the rules in A Separate Peace when he falls out of the tree hanging above the river and breaks his leg after he was told not to climb in the tree ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Life As A Contest With Fate By Heinrich Von Kleist When is the proper moment to think? Is it better to think before, during, or after an action? The writer, Heinrich von Kleist, argues that one should think after an act. He uses the example of a wrestler, The athlete, at that moment when he is holding his opponent in his grip, simply has no recourse but to act spontaneously, on inspiration; and if he begins to calculate which muscles to contract and which limbs to move in order to throw him, he will always draw the short straw and be thrown himself (Kleist, 1810). In this example Kleist is correct that it is more appropriate to reflect on your actions rather, but is this logic acceptable in all occasions? Or when an individual should think be dependent on the situation at hand? In the same essay, Kleist states life itself is a contest with fate , however should the entirety of life be treated as a contest (Kleist, 1810)? To begin with, is it better to think while you act? In the example stated previously, when the wrestler thought during he s match, he resulted as the loser. In the film Fearless, Huo Yuannjia s father faced a similar scenario. During a match to determine the better of two Wushu styles, Hou s father meets defeat when he became lost in thought. In these situations, the individuals would have a higher chance of success if they acted on intuition rather than critical thinking. On the other hand, would acting on inspiration would be best during a test or homework assignment? While working on school assignments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Honestly this was a cover buy, the synopsis sounded well, but who can say no to a cover with a dragon and a female holding what seems to be kantana s. I m not gonna lie, this book is like your average young adult fantasy book, power is entrusted on the main character who comes from nothing but dirt. The power brings him or her to the ranks of highly honored people. War happens because everyone is hungry for power, the emperor dies and his handsome son has to save his kingdom and usually chooses it over the main character, and drama happens with the occasional kiss. The Use Of Vivid Color In The Wizard Of Oz As Dorothy enters deeper into the world of Oz, we see the vibrant color of green in the trees and the shades of yellow and blue in the flowers (Fig. 3). They were originally scripted as being silver but half way through the production they decided to change it to red to take full advantage of the capabilities of Technicolor. A periodic trend is the tendency of certain properties of the elements to increase or decrease as one progresses along a row or column of the periodic table. One trend, for example, is between the electronegativity and the atomic number on an element, another being the density. The noble gases are the gaseous elements helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon, in group 18 of the periodic table. Additionally, they are considered the most unreactive of the elements, due to the fact that the valence electrons are all full , thus making the group the most stable, as well. When it comes to the periodic trends, the noble gases have the some of the lowest densities because they are gaseous elements, meaning they state of matter consisting of particles that have neither a definite volume nor definite shape. The lack of electronegativity of the noble gasses is based off of their group, which already has a full outer shell, meaning they do not attract any electrons. In final analysis, the electronegativity and density periodic trends trends are fairly consistent. Electronegativity decreases when going down groups, while density increases. The decision by a nation of people to implement one of the three main forms of government, confederacy, unitary, or federalism, is an important aspect in defining the nature and role of government in the lives of its citizens. Confederacies exist as a group of autonomous individual states, regions, or member components who form a national body, or centralized government, to represent their independent interests at a more regional and international level. The existence of the national government is derived from the consent of each governed autonomous state or region. The entities that submit to this central ruling authority are able to withdraw from the compact that binds them together. The national authority created is only bestowed with the powers, authority, and privileges which the independent components in the confederacy allow. If any member component feels its interests are no longer being served or the compact has interfered with its autonomy, then that entity of the confederacy can sever its ties with the national body. Of the man who succumbs to this love, Pausanias says, He is not constant, because he loves something that is not constant: as soon as the bloom of the body fades, which is what attracted him, he flies away and is gone , bringing disgrace on all he said and promised, (Plato 16). The fickle nature of worldly desire is illuminated by the flower metaphor Pausanias uses; the beauty of a flower, the bloom, is akin to the superficiality of earthly desire, and neither is the foundation of lasting love. Physical desire and the resulting attachment to the material world cause disgrace for the soul who delights in such cravings. While Pausanias warns against over attachment to physical objects in The Symposium, the deity Krishna completely condemns the material world in The Bhagavad Gita.
