Jamaica’s Troubled Past Essay
Jamaica s Troubled Past
The Maroons
Jamaica s fighting spirit can be seen even in its early days with the Maroons. The fighting spirit is not
uncommon with people who are oppressed or forced against their will. The Maroons came in two
waves, the first are slaves that fled during the Spanish rule, the second wave was during British
control. The Maroons used the highlands of Jamaica to seek refuge, establish colonies and attack
plantations when needed. Even today the beliefs and herbal practices of the Maroons are still evident
in Jamaican culture. Their trouble past has made their life difficult but even today they are a presence
in Jamaica.

Frequently employed as hunters of wild cattle and hogs (Cimarron, in Spanish), the free ranging
Africans formed small armed bands that attacked Spanish overland commerce. Their numbers grew as
they abducted slaves and gathered runaways. Adapting to the environment under the guidence of
Arawak Indians, themselves victims of ruthless exploitation and enslavement by Spanish overlords,
the Maroons settled into established communities high in the mountains. (Olson, pg.234) By the mid
sixteenth century runaways outnumbered whites 7 to 1. (Campbell, pg. 2) This proved to be very
frightening for the Spanish planters because the Maroons would strike with stealth and speed, and
retreat just as quickly. This poem by Anon gives an image of the power and fear the Maroons embeded
in the Spanish planters.
The wild Maroons, impregnable and free
Among the mountain holds of liberty
Sudden as lightning darted on their foe
Seen like the flash, remember like the blow.
(Campbell, pg. 44)
All over the European controlled Caribbean governments were trying to control these threats to their
establishments. Trained hunting parties were assembled to attempt to hunt down and destroy the
maroons. The Spanish called theirs Rancheadores. (Campbell, pg. 3) The Spanish church also joined
in the attempt to recapture slaves. They claimed that slaves

Analysis Of New Rulers Of The World By John Pilger
There s no difference between the quite ruthless intervention of international capital into foreign
markets these days than there was in the old days, when they were backed up by gunboats.... The
world is divided between the rich, who get richer, and the poor, who get poorer, and the rich get richer
on the backs of the poor. That division hasn t changed for about 500 years, (Pilger, John). This quote
sums up the book New Rulers of the World by John Pilger. It talks about the new global economy and
shows us that divisions between the poor and the rich have never been more obvious. This book also
talks about how the media and journalists are corrupt and only talk about what will make them big
money, leaving out the actual truth behind the stories. Pilger based this book on the impact of
globalisation in Indonesia, where the World Bank described it as a model pupil until it s what was
known as globalised economy collapsed in 1998. Since then, globalisation has made the world
smaller. But not only has globalisation made the world smaller, it has made it interdependent.
Globalization may seem like a good idea, get your products out there, make a lot of money, but it is
really hurting our world as a whole and making it virtually smaller . Throughout the book, Pilger
examines sweatshops of famous name brands around the world. Then the questions start flowing out:
Who are the real beneficiaries of this globalized economy? Who actually rules the world now? Is it
governments or handfuls of gigantic companies? It is proven that the Ford Motor company by itself is
bigger than the whole economy of South Africa and that Bill Gates is richer and has a greater wealth
than all of Africa alone! Pilger pretends to be a buyer so he can infiltrate the Indonesian GAP and Old
Navy sweatshops to interview the workers. He found that the wages of the workers could be doubled
if brands like Nike would just raise their shoe prices a measly 40 cents. Pilger states: Nike workers get
about 4% of the retail price of the shoes they make, which is not enough to buy the laces, (Pilger, John
p.18) The first chapter, The Model Pupil talks of Asia and how globalization began there. It also talks
of horrid stories in Indonesia and the

Low Socioeconomic Status Essay
In 2013, 23.3% of the United States population consisted of children ages 0 to 17, 20% of those
children lived in poverty and about 15.8 million children lived in households that were classified as
food insecure (America s Children: Key National Indicators Of Well being, 2015). Perceptions of
students with low socioeconomic status (SES) combined with other circumstances certainly play a role
in their development and achievements. SES is conditional, imposed on people, used for comparisons,
and based on economics, opportunity, and influence. When considering SES, individuals incomes,
occupations, education, neighborhood, and political power are took into consideration. A school s SES
is determined by the neighborhood where it is located and by the SES of the children and families in
attendance at that school (Socioeconomic Status, 2009). Students in low SES homes often experience
many negative experiences outside of school that can impact their academic performance. Time
availability and financial resources for academic support are struggles of families of low SES status
(Education and Socioeconomic Status Factsheet, 2015). Students of families with low SES status have
fewer books, fewer opportunities for reading, greater exposure to aggression and violence, fewer

Charting student performance, understanding learning standards, using appropriate instructional
strategies, implementing rubrics and benchmark testing, and addressing identified learning gaps with
appropriate interventions are all major steps in ensuring low SES students, or all students, are
receiving the best educational experience possible (Noll, 2012, p.138). Overall, most know that school
success requires a great deal of resources that often times many schools do not have and cannot

Hillary Clinton Mistakes
Hillary Clinton should not run for president because she has not proved herself in her various roles in
our government. While she has had many roles partaking in government positions, it doesn t mean that
she was well noted for them. Many people in the United States like myself, distrust Hillary for her
actions in government issues. With the recent event of an online private server being used by Hillary,
she released classified information to the public through via e mails (Jones 2). When Hillary Clinton
started in government in 2001, she never proved herself to be better in political issues. Even though
she has held the position of secretary of state for most of her political career, it still hasn t helped her
status in the long run. Hillary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will list two mistakes throughout her career. Her first and biggest mistake was with the Benghazi
incident. Benghazi may go down as the biggest stain on Hillary Clinton s reputation. Whether or not
Clinton made any mistakes, she will be forced to do damage control over the issue for the rest of her
life because of her role as Secretary of State during the attack in September of 2012. The extent of
Clinton s role in handling Benghazi is still largely unknown by the general public. The uncertainty of
the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other
American diplomats has done little to stop the criticism. Clinton spoke at a Congressional testimony in
January of 2013 and took full responsibility for the official response to the Benghazi attacks. She
asserted that there had been no conversations regarding the safety of the consulate prior to the attacks.
An evaluation released by the U.S House of Representatives in April of 2013 served as a blow to her
testimony. The report stated that reduced security levels in Benghazi were approved by the State
Department and Hillary Clinton prior to the attacks (Black

Michael Jordan Leadership Paper
Study of a Contemporary leader When sitting down and thinking about a leader that I wanted to write
about, and eventually stand up in front of people and talk about was a lot harder of a thing to do than I
originally thought. There are so many different types of leaders that people follow and are drawn to,
for so many different reasons. Whether those reasons follow a certain beliefs like that of cults and
religions, or if they simply follow leaders because they were just born with all of the necessary skills
and attributes that helps them relate to people, everyone follows a certain type of leader because of
their own personal reasons. This leads me to why I chose my leader to talk about in this paper.

It wasn t until his junior year of high school that Jordan finally won a game against his older brothers.
But even still, only standing at 5 11 as a sophomore Michael Jordan did not make varsity and had to
play on the junior varsity team. This drove him to work even harder because he was fully confident
that he could play with the older kids. Every single day after his normal basketball practice, Michael
would go home and worked on his game even more, day in and day out. This drive and determination
helped him get on the varsity team the next two years. He went on to average 25 points a game his
junior and senior year at Laney High School in North Carolina. Michael s senior year he received the
nomination to play in the McDonalds All American Team. Also during his senior season Michael was
offered a full ride scholarship by North Carolinas coach Dean Smith to play for the Tar Heels. With
Jordan having such a competitive edge, motivation, charisma, and drive he was able to become the
most important player on their team, and a strong leader for the players around him. During his time at
North Carolina, Michael Jordan led his team to victory in the NCAA Division 1 championship in
1982, when he scored a buzzer beater against Georgetown University to win. Michael Jordan was also
recognized as NCAA College Player of the Year in 1983 and again in 1984. Jordan also made his way

Importance Of My Favorite Vacation On A Trip With My Family
My favorite vacation was when I went on a road trip to New Jersey with my family. First, we drove
about eight hours to Wisconsin Dells, and we stayed there for one night. We stayed at the Kalahari
resort where there were many enjoyable activities. Some of them include laser tag, water parks, rock
wall climbing, mini golf, and so much more. Afterward, we drove about nine hours to Cedar Point,
Ohio. At Cedar point we stayed at a hotel right on the beach of Lake Erie, which was walking distance
from the Cedar Point amusement park, which included the fastest roller coaster in the world inside.
So, the next day we arose very early to get in line to get into the park. The line took about an hour to
go through because there was an abounding amount of people, but it was worth it. As a result of
waiting in line, the rides were so enjoyable and felt absolutely amazing. After about five hours at the
amusement park, we went back to the hotel because we were all getting tired. We rested for about 30
minutes until my siblings and I decided to go swimming in the lake. It was a very hot day so it was
nice to get in the chilly, refreshing water. We swam for an hour or so, and then we ate dinner. After
that, we went back to the park. It was more pleasant at night since there were fewer people in the park,
and it also wasn t as hot compared to during the day. From there on, we went back to the hotel and got
an excellent night s sleep, and we to get up very early the next day. Then, early the

The Causes And Consequences Of The Media
Catalonia was an interesting news story to cover, particularly because of its European implications.
The Guardian newspaper, Sky News channel and Aljazeera.com are three distinct platforms I selected
to monitor. This is mainly because of their reputation and political dissimilarities. These UK based
media platforms were expected, in such a case of Catalonia, to report this story in depth. My analysis
of the coverage will follow the chronological order of these platforms, which is the same historical
appearance of newspapers, television and Internet. This may also facilitate how we understand the
strengths and weaknesses of each medium in covering this Spanish crisis. The Guardian is centre left

Even the space for his speech was very short (4th October). On the other hand, the Guardian included
a picture of a pro Spain rally in Barcelona and quoted from Spanish leaders. Bias, if it was so, can be
also seen in attributing ordinary Catalan people, which were divided over independence. Even when
the correspondents quoted what a pro Spain thinks in page 4 (2nd October), it was a woman that
changed her position to support the independence because she was pulled out by the police. Sky News
, which is described as a pro conservative according to the media blog (2010), treated the event quite
differently. For instance, the report in Sky News at 10 (2nd October) included a sound bite of a pro
Spain Catalan to balance the news story. This may reflect impartiality in this outlet coverage, but it is
not easy to say so. In this report and others, the correspondents insisted on the division of Catalans,
which The Guardian ignored in the background. The report reminded the viewers that although the
Catalan authorities declared that 90% of voters supported the independence, only 40% voted in that
referendum. This statement of an interesting fact can communicate the story clearly to the audience.
The focus of reports was on protests and police violence; however, the Correspondent s report from
Barcelona in Sky News at 11 (3rd October) included a sound bite of the Spanish king speech.

name was not the first one. Indeed, it was called primarily Mike Ashley Sports. In the 1990s, the
founder opened many stores in and around London and over 100 stores across the United Kingdom.
By that time, the name of the chain was changed to Sports Soccer. Although the high number of stores,
Mike Ashley was a sole trader and his chain did not acquire the company status until 1999. By doing
so, the borrowing power of the company increased and in 2002 he went on to buy Lillywhites, the

Accounting Scandals Reflection
Enron was founded in July of 1985. Enron was an electricity and natural gas company which was a
fortune 500 company and it was ranked the sixth largest energy company in the world. Enron s stock
went from a peak of $90.75 to $0.67. This was very detrimental to stockholders. Enron s top
executives sold their stock a long time before the stock price fell. A lot of lower level employees could
not sell their stock because of deals they made with the company. This later caused a lot of these
employees to lose their life savings and everything they had worked for. Enron used a very complex
accounting method to trick the stock market. This method was called mark to market accounting.
Enron used this method of accounting to predict and project their earnings in a long term period.
These earnings were projected based on the long term energy contracts Enron was going to make. This
could have been money that was not made at that point. This made Enron s stock price skyrocket at a
very fast pace, making a lot of employees and general public invest in the stock. Enron stock seemed
to be a very secure and profitable investment which would make people lots of money. The Fortune
500 company went down very quickly. In August of 2001, the CEO of Enron, Jeffrey Skilling
resigned. He randomly resigned and a lot of suspicions arose. His resignation was described to be
because of personal reasons.

Spoon River Poetry Analysis
The 1915 poetry collection, Spoon River Anthology, by Edgar Lee Masters, offers a portrait of daily
life in a fictional Illinois town, Spoon River. As is evident from the poems Spoon River was an
economic boom town which profited greatly from its proximity to rail roads and a major waterway.
Regardless of its prosperity, Spoon River seems to have remained a demographically small town, and
the neighbors all knew each other very well, and a clear social hierarchy formed. One of the more
interesting aspects of the Spoon River Anthology is that the poems contained therein are a series of
grave epitaphs that tell a story about each deceased resident. Often, graveyards themselves can serve
as reminders of social hierarchies in the world of the living. Typically, only those decedents who had
family members and a community who cared for them would be laid to rest in the community grave;
the potter s field and the crematorium awaited those who passed away without family, in debt, or with
a criminal record. Thus, the initial assessment of the deceased within the Spoon River graveyard
would be that they were
good people in their lives.
Indeed, many of the epitaphs depict the decedents as moral, hardworking, and decent people.
However, when cross referencing the epitaphs from each citizen, it becomes clear that the prominent
members of Spoon River were incredibly corrupt in their day to day behavior. Ultimately, Masters
explores ethics in Spoon River Anthology by studying the fine

Due to increased distribution of XML in cloud computing, the demand for strong and active safety
mechanism on XML signature enlarged as well. A dangerous possible risk for cloud computing
security is the XML signature. XML Signature is a method, which is used to deliver consistency,

1.3 Metadata Spoofing Attack
In this type of attack, an opponent alters or changes the service s Web Services Description Language
file where explanations about service examples are stored. If the opponent succeeds to interrupt
service request code from WSDL file at distributing time, then this attack can be possible. Since
Metadata documents are distributed using communication procedures like HTTP or e mail they are
expected to open the options of spoofing attacks. It is likely for attackers to maliciously modify the
content of the WSDL file and allocate them across all the Web service clients. This has serious costs
and security effects.
To overcome such an attack, information about services and applications should be kept in encrypted

then it s not personally his fault; an example of pure speculation. Then in the fourth paragraph he says
that scientists are never far from their e mails, rarely touch paper and cannot lecture without a

had been told, but know in the fourth paragraph he s completely convinced. That was an extension of
pure speculation. The last example of pure speculation and propaganda is the fifth paragraph. But the

Why Did Nicole Simpson Murder
The Murder of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman
On June 12th of 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were stabbed to death by OJ
Simpson, Nicole s ex husband. Even though the jury from his trial found OJ not guilty, I along with
many others believe that he was responsible for taking the lives of Nicole Simpson and Ronald
Goldman.
Years before the couples divorce, OJ was charged with spousal abuse and was sentenced to
community service. Less than three years later Nicole filed for a divorce citing irreconcilable
differences. Obviously Nicole was no longer happy in their marriage after she had been abused, so she
decided to leave OJ. Simpson was probably pretty mad that his punching bag had left him, so not too
long after their divorce when he saw Nicole with some other man he was infuriated. OJ Simpson went
to Nicole s house and stabbed the two of them to death.

Nicole and OJ had been seeing each other for some time before he divorced his first wife. Also, the
fact that Simpson had previously been charged with spousal abuse just furthers the believe that he did
not treat his wife the way she should have been treated. In 1989, when O.J. pleaded no contest to a
charge of spousal abuse (Price).
Many people may argue that since OJ Simpson didn t care at all about Nicole then why did he go
through so much trouble to kill her. Well, I believe that OJ was so angry that his old punching bag was
now out of his grasp and happy that couldn t stand it and killed her.
OJ Simpson is responsible for the deaths of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman. There is quite a bit
of hard evidence that point to him as well as facts based on OJ and Nicole s history together. Some of
OJ s personal belongs were found on the scene. Evidence of abuse to Nicole lead to the believe the OJ

Human Impact on the Carbon, Nitrogen, and Phosphorus Cycles
Danielle Abbadusky

Human impact on the cycling matter in ecosystems can change a lot of things. Humans can either help
or hurt things. The carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus cycles are the three cycles of matter in
ecosystems. What are these cycles? How do humans effect each one of these individual cycles? What
are some examples of humans effecting these cycles? What is the carbon cycle? Sequence of
processes through which carbon compounds move from one carbon reservoir or sink (such as forests
and oceans) to another (such as atmosphere) and back. Since more carbon dioxide is being released

These compounds are taken up by plants as nutrients from the soil and converted into plant proteins
(amino acids). Plant proteins become animal proteins when eaten and metabolized by herbivorous
animals, and when carnivorous animals eat the herbivorous. These proteins return to the soil through
animal excrement and the decomposition of dead animals and plants, and are converted into carbon
dioxide, water, and ammonia (gaseous compound of nitrogen and hydrogen) by a set of bacteria in the
soil. A portion of this ammonia is converted into soil nitrogen (fixed nitrogen) by another set of
bacteria and the balance is released into the atmosphere as free nitrogen (N2). (nitrogen cycle, n.d.)
Human impact on this cycle is very significant. Farmers plant crops such as; peas, beans, and alfalfa.
These crops pull nitrogen from the air which helps raise the rate of nitrogen fixation on the land.
Farmers also plant corn and wheat which are sprayed with nitrogen derived from industrial fixation.
All of these crops help humans to survive. Having these crops benefiting humans we are more than
doubling the amount of nitrogen that s moved from the atmosphere to the land. When sulfur is
released by burning fossil fuels, which humans do, this is killing and polluting our lakes and ponds
and killing our forests. With these and other chemicals being put into our land, these are reaching our
oceans and big areas of water and this will

Breaking The Limitations In Music
Music has always been seen as a way of entertainment. Throughout many eras musicians have kept
their ways to their traditions. From instrumentation to the composition itself. Throughout the ages,
music has mostly been a set in stone factor. But since the 20th century things have begun to change.
Musicians are breaking away from the traditions of the past and reaching new areas of music.
Technology is developing to creating new sounds and instruments can change how to be played and
used. That musical styles have been developed and the compositions have altered with devices that

With his developments, the music world has heard a new sound. One of his major creations in music is
in fact a wire recorder. This machine may not seem like much but it has been able record then
playback music in your own home without the instruments themselves. This has truly become a great
breakthrough instead of needing a musician in the household to keep smaller gatherings entertained.
Now they can be entertained with only themselves. As said by brindle: (One of the first electronic
music compositions John Cage s Imaginary Landscape No. 1 (1939) had oscillator frequencies
recorded on two 78 r.p.m. gramophone records, but normally such a system was too expensive and
inflexible to be practicable.) It took a world war to produce what was almost the right instrument the
wire recorder which was later replaced by the tape recorder, so manipulated, made permanent, or
discarded, with incredible ease and at negligible cost. Once the tape recorder was perfected (about
1950), and its potentialities fully realized, other electronic sound equipment (either already existing or
suitably modified) could be assembled to form the first electronic music studio (99, Brindle). This
development of the Wire recorder has lead to such great historical developments. From the wire
recorder lead to the tape recorder and soon music was able to be taken anywhere anyone wished it to
be. The development of the wire recorder was originally made by John Cage

The Scottish Legal System Is Discovering The Truth
Fundamental to the Scottish legal system is discovering the truth. In Scotland, a defendant has to be

criminal conduct, whilst the due process model aims to prevent and eliminate crime. Packer s
intentions were not to create two separate models; rather he intended to create a spectrum from one
extreme to the other. The Scottish legal system does not wholly consist of crime control elements nor
due process elements. It is a mixture of both of these models that attempts to balance the rights of the
state to secure a conviction, with the rights of the accused to a fair trial. It can be seen that there is not
an appropriate balance between the two as there is not equal and proportionate rights given to both
parties, resulting in excessive protection being given to the defendant. This imbalance is best
described by discussing the powers of the state in contrast to the defendant s rights pre trial and during
trial.
The pre trial powers which the state are provided with lie with the police force. They are empowered
with the authority to arrest, interrogate and detain suspects. If the police see a person and suspect the
are someone who is committing a known crime then, under s.13(1) of the Criminal Procedure
(Scotland) Act 1995, they can either ask for an

Ideal Moral Code Analysis
John Arthur and Peter Singer have different views when it comes to Famine Relief and the Ideal Moral
Code . Both theories are intuitive; yet clash heads at the idea of an opinion other than their own. They
essentially both argue for what is our true duty. Peter Singer defends that we ought to prevent evil
whenever we can do so without sacrificing something of comparable moral significance (Famine
Relief and the Ideal Moral Code pg. 813) . He believes that we should donate at least half of our
earnings to people in absolute poverty, which in this case means poverty by any standard. He also says
we should help out people in other countries before we help out our own neighbor. The fact that a
person is physically near to us, so that we have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He says we should think about how people really are in a given society and then determining what
would be the best is the right way to go about it. He believes that this will help if we think about how
people are in a given society because we are more selfish then we think. We need to look at what
human beings are actually like. By showing a moral code like this is would not reject entitlements in
favor of the greater moral evil rule (Famine Relief and the Ideal Moral code pg. 823) . Which helps his
argument on entitlement. We are entitled to what we do with our body, our right to life, our life to
property, and our negative and positive rights, which in his view cannot be

Analyse the Dramatic Uses of the Chorus in Greek Tragedy;...
The full influence of Greek tragedy upon our modern theatre is incomprehensible, with the mainstays
of theatrical convention largely demonstrating roots within Greek tragedy. The choric function is just
one of these conventions. This essay hopes to explore various uses of the Chorus within Greek
tragedies by Aeschylus and Sophocles, and then to analyse how traits of a Greek Chorus, and the
choric function can be found within 20th Century Theatre. The Chorus in Greek tragedy was a large
group (it is suggested between 12 and 30) of people who sang or chanted songs and poems that helped
set the scene of the play, bring the audience up to date with the events preceding the play and inform
the audience of any political or social consequences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They explain, ‘Fear s a good gateman to stand guard of the passions (page 100).
For Sophocles the Chorus has yet again a more reduced role, as more actors are introduced into his
plays. The focus yet again turns towards dialogue between characters, and away from interaction
purely between actor and Chorus. The Sophoclean Chorus is not emotionally separate from the action,
it is involved emotively with the story being portrayed, and can show sympathy (and in contrast,
hatred) towards the events on the stage. In Sophocles Oedipus the King the Chorus function as
witnesses to the downfall of Oedipus from proud monarch to blind, helpless man. The Chorus first
speech to Oedipus describes the plague that has infected the city. As Oedipus insists he wants to find
the murderer of Laius, the Chorus suggest that he ask Teiresias (page 194). The Chorus here prompts
the actor to step further towards his impending fate. The Chorus also prove to be a calming influence,
trying to mediate between Teiresias, Oedipus, Creon and Jocasta at various points within the play.
They also are still optimistic when the truth is nearly out, telling Oedipus to, ‘hope, until you hear
from the man who saw what happened (page 216). The Chorus within

A Note On Macro, Micro Evolution There Is Important For...
First off, when talk about macro, micro evolution there is much falsehood about these two words, but,
understanding them is maybe the vital essential for comprehension the creation or development issue.
Macroevolution alludes to major developmental changes after some time, the inception of new sorts of
creatures from beforehand existing, yet distinctive, tribal sorts. On the other hand, Microevolution
alludes to assortments inside of a given sort. Change happens inside of a gathering, however the
relative is unmistakably of the same sort as the precursor.
According to Berkeley.edu, Macroevolution generally refers to evolution above the species level. So
instead of focusing on an individual beetle species, a macroevolutionary lens might require that we
zoom out on the tree of life, to assess the diversity of the entire beetle clade and its position on the
tree. Macroevolution includes the most amazing patterns and changes in development, for example,
the beginning of warm blooded animals and the radiation of blooming plants. Macro evolutionary
examples are by and large what we see when we take a gander at the substantial scale history of life. It
is not as a matter of course simple to see macro evolutionary history; there are no firsthand records to
be perused. Rather, we reproduce the historical backdrop of life utilizing all accessible confirmation:
geography, fossils, and living beings.

Naturally you will want to do some research in to the potential day care providers. Talk to them, view
their web sites, ask questions, get references so you can take a view and get a feel for which one will
be most suitable for you and your dog.
You want to be comfortable that he is in the best hands when he cannot be in yours. You do not want
to send a nervous dog to somewhere which might make his anxiety issues worse so do take your time
to choose the best provider you can. A visit to the provider s premises is also advised so you can chat
to the owner, see if everything is clean and tidy, see how other dogs are behaving and if they are
happy.
It will of course cost to use a doggy day care provider so make sure you have the budget for it. This
alone will not cure any dog separation anxiety issues however used in conjunction with other methods
which you should still work on with your dog, the combination of all can have a powerful cumulative
effect and help your dog to adjust.
Patience is the key when working with a dog with separation anxiety. Many dogs need you to be in
charge and make them feel at ease and safe. So by helping to take stresses away from them you are
helping them to cope. Find what works best for your dog and go with

What Is Classical And Operant Conditioning
Introduction:
Classical conditioning and operant conditioning are different learning methods.
The two methods have the word conditioning in common. Conditioning is the acquisition of specific
patterns of behavior in the presence of well defined stimuli. Both classical and operant conditioning
are basic forms of learning. Classical conditioning is a type of learning in which an organism learns to
transfer a natural response from one stimulus to another, previously neutral stimulus. Manipulating
reflexes does this. Operant conditioning is a type of learning in which the likelihood of a behavior is
increased or decreased by the use of reinforcement or punishment.
Operant conditioning deals with more cognitive thought process. These two forms of learning have ...

Classical conditioning:
Secondly, many people used to say that classical conditioning in the classroom are less important than
those of operant conditioning. But still there is a need for teachers to try to make sure that students
associate positive emotional experiences with learning. If a student associates negative emotional
experiences with school then this can obviously have bad results, such as creating a school phobia. For
example, if a student is bullied at school they may learn to associate school with fear. It could also
explain why some students show a particular dislike of certain subjects that continue throughout their
academic career. This could happen if a student is humiliated or punished in class by a teachers.
Moreover classical conditioning is a temporary learning process where a bell is rang and then the dog
is given food and this process is repeated several times. After a while, the dog learns to assume that a
ringing bell means food is coming and so the dog begins salivating to simply the sound of the bell
expecting food. So it means

The Games And Its Impact On Our Childhood
Many of us have had some sort of gaming in our childhood. It s why we are who we are and why we
play the games we play now, and I assume why you are here reading a gaming article.
ChuckleFish s latest game Stardew Valley has taken the Nostalgia Train and taken a lot of players
back to their roots of Sandbox games, Harvest Moon. Almost everyone I ve talked to about this game
has at least played some sort of Harvest Moon game being that there have been loads that have come
out and still consistently are being released even to this day. However, Stardew Valley has taken us
back to the SNES Graphics style and really delivered a Harvest Moon of Today in terms of gameplay.
After around 50 hours of Gametime, I have lost myself in this simplistic yet addicting style of
gameplay. Every morning I wake up, step out of bed, walk out the door into the vast open world of my
farm. I start out the average morning watering crops doing the mundane stuff. I ll clean up the yard
should a pine tree step out of its invisible bounds that I ve placed that Mother Nature cannot seem to
see, nor understand. However, I can use the extra wood and sap for crafting. Stardew Valley boasts a
comprehensive crafting system. It fails in depth to Minecraft, though there is a lot to be made, and will
make life on the farm a whole lot easier. After my work is finished on the farm, I make my way into
town and do my rounds, pick up some seeds drop off a present to the lovely Leah.
Oddly, I have noticed

Comparing Alice In The Queen Of Hearts And The Red Queen
It s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then (Lewis Carroll). Alice in the
wonderland is a fantasy world Alice enters after falling in a hole for a long time. In her Illusion world
she meets different types of creatures talking, singing and dancing. In her imaginary world, Alice
notices potions and edible objects that say eat me or drink me which specifies a significant theme that
interprets the fantasy of Alice, which also connects with the different sized animals she meets. In the
two sequels Alice faces many ordinary objects along each chapter, and each character approaches
Alice in their own perspective having to deal with a random human being in their fantasy world. The

Although the Red Queen might be bossy and is arrogantly domineering she helps Alice on mastering
the chess game, as stated in the previous paragraph, but the Queen of hearts gives no advice for Alice
instead she is the heart of Alice s conflict. The Red Queen s speciality is that she doesn t abuse the
power she has into violent events, rather she engages on violence to try and fold the situation, what s
satisfying about her personality is that she uses her powers to accumulate positivity. On the other
hand, the Queen of Hearts is bloodthirsty and is always prompt that beheading people that disrespect
her solves every problem. She completely differs from the Red Queen, by compiling her power and
becomes strongly aggressive to dominate everything. The Queen turned crimson with fury, and, after
glaring at her for a moment like a wild beast, began screaming Off with her head! Off with ,
Nonsense! said Alice (Wonderland 8.18 19), very loudly and decidedly, and the Queen was silent. This
quote illustrates how the Queen acts once she feels offended by taking the victims heads, but Alice
responds back and shows the Queen that she isn t scared of her power. Contrasting the two shows the
two different versions of a Queen having all the authority on her hand.
In conclusion, Lewis Carroll deliberately shows the two sides of a Queen in different books, but he
intends to include

Short Bowel Syndrome Case Study
Short bowel syndrome (SBS) is a heterogeneous, malabsorptive disorder that occurs after an extensive
small bowel resection surgery (2). Conditions of the small bowel which may warrant this type of
surgery include Crohn s disease, post radiation enteritis, ischemia/other vascular issues of the bowel,
malignancy, trauma, tumors, and complications from previous abdominal or gastric bypass surgery (1,
2). Once the bowel has been resected, the normal processes involved in absorption of nutrients,
electrolytes, and fluids are altered (1). A variety of long term complications related to SBS exists and
is dependent upon which sections of the bowel remain, the amount of remaining bowel, and the
functional and structural adaptations that occur post surgery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, the jejunum only has the ability to adapt functionally, but the ileum has the ability to
adapt functionally and structurally (3). Therefore, the more ileum remaining after a resection, the
better the outcome. The severity of SBS symptoms is largely based on the type of small bowel
resection surgery that has been performed. Three distinct bowel resections are known to result in SBS:
jejuno ileal anastomosis, jejuno colic anastomosis, and end jejunostomy (3). The adverse symptoms
created by SBS vary based on the type of resection that has occurred, the phase of post resection in
which the patient is, and the extent of adaptation of the bowel that occurs.

My Canoeing Journey
I was never sure I can make it this far I had the knowledge and the drive, then I finally got my
Breakthrough in life. I always wanted to go to college becauses I knew the endless possibilities that
can happen in my life and my family. When I was given an opportunity to increase my chances at
making college I waste a second to take my chance and looking back on 3 summers I made the right
decision. Through reflecting on my times as breakthrough student, I learned that my biggest area of
growth have been dealing with challenges, working with discomfort, and discovering new concepts.
A large area of growth I ve experienced as a breakthrough student has been dealing with challenges.
The most challenging part of the BLP retreat was the canoeing trip. This required patience, strength,
and persistence to make to and from our destination. Through paddling I have gotten move arm
strength, but most importantly I fought the struggle and made it to the island. All in all I used the
persist code battle the tiring activity called canoeing. It has taught me to work through difficult task,
no matter how much I want to quit. Although I had to push myself canoeing helped me expand on my
persistence to real world situation.
Another area of growth I ve experienced is public speaking. The most important thing we worked on
at Breakthrough was using your voice. This required confidence and the ability to be calm to be
understood by everyone . Through my 3 years of breakthrough, I have gotten

Sustainability In Marketing
The Relevance of Sustainability in Marketing Decision Making
Introduction
Sustainable marketing calls for socially and environmentally responsible actions that meet the present
needs of consumers and businesses while preserving and enhancing the ability of future generations to
meet their needs (Kotler amp; Armstrong 2012, p. 582). The aim of sustainable marketing is to satisfy
the customer s the needs and wants while also putting high emphasis on the environment and the
social issues and thus creating profits in a socially responible way. Mention triple bottom line While

with energy saving bulbs. Because Walmart operates under very stringent environmentally focused
practices they also enforce many laws to its suppliers to examine the carbon life cycle of their

Timeless Love In Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austen
Does money mean the same as love? In modern days it is frowned upon to only look at money, but
back in 18th century Britain it was the only step for sanctuary and love. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth
Bennett, characters from Jane Austen s timeless love novel Pride and Prejudice, are examples of
breaking the normal cycle for that time period. In order to see any connections between these two, we
must first break it down by class, their personalities, and their actual feelings toward one another.
Elizabeth is judgmental toward the class more than her feelings, because Elizabeth is of very low
class, and Mr. Darcy is of high class, even though he is obviously in love with Elizabeth. As you read

Darcy or any man her father offered her hand to. The spark for Elizabeth s heart was ignited as soon as
the housekeeper explained her fondness of him while knowing they were not influenced by
judgement. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth both had so many complications with arranged marriages to
different people who had no interest in love or happiness, they only cared for money and status.
Elizabeth embedded herself in her sister s happiness to only ignore her own and judge her own
actions, from her sisters. Love was grown over time and was tested multiple times by Mr. Darcy s aunt
who insisted he married for money and Mr. Bennett s plea to wed Mr. Collins for money until her
sister married him due to false love and hoping for a secure life. This is a quote of Jane Austen s
powerful creation of true love through two complete opposites, But no sooner had he made it clear to
himself and his friends that she hardly had a good feature in her face, than he began to find it was
rendered uncommonly intelligent by the beautiful expression of her dark eyes. To this discovery
succeeded some others equally mortifying. Though he had detected with a critical eye more than one
failure of perfect symmetry in her form, he was forced to acknowledge her figure to be light and
pleasing; and in spite of his asserting that her manners were not those of the fashionable world, he was

Penguin Ballet Analysis
A composer depends entirely upon the nature of the film for all the clues needed to write a suitable
score for a film. Brought into the production after a certain amount of film has been shot, the films
concept will dictate how the composer will write the music. Whether based on the story line, or
providing information by setting an atmospheric state, film music will always have different purposes
between different films. Penguin Ballet by Nigel Westlake was composed to focuses upon the
graceful, almost ballet like movements of the penguins underwater. Whereas, Writings on the wall by
Sam Smith conveys ideas and messages which will be expressed throughout the film, especially
through the use of lyrics. Although positioned within the film to provide contrasting messages, both
these songs use similar musical elements to support the piece, and its position with the film. The
discussion of this essay is that there are similarities between the musical elements that support the
lyrics in a song and the action in a documentary. Through this, we will discuss the musical element s
of pitch, and timbre and texture.
Through the use of pitch, each piece was able to develop motifs to represent specific personalities on
the screen. Nigel Westlake successful achieves this within the Penguin Ballet. Mirroring the fluidity
and beauty of the penguins beneath the polar ice caps, it could be stated that the guitar and the harp,
most commonly represent the penguins. Played with almost a

  • 2. Jamaica’s Troubled Past Essay Jamaica s Troubled Past The Maroons Jamaica s fighting spirit can be seen even in its early days with the Maroons. The fighting spirit is not uncommon with people who are oppressed or forced against their will. The Maroons came in two waves, the first are slaves that fled during the Spanish rule, the second wave was during British control. The Maroons used the highlands of Jamaica to seek refuge, establish colonies and attack plantations when needed. Even today the beliefs and herbal practices of the Maroons are still evident in Jamaican culture. Their trouble past has made their life difficult but even today they are a presence in Jamaica. The First Deserters The idea of runaways did not take long in the Caribbean islands. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frequently employed as hunters of wild cattle and hogs (Cimarron, in Spanish), the free ranging Africans formed small armed bands that attacked Spanish overland commerce. Their numbers grew as they abducted slaves and gathered runaways. Adapting to the environment under the guidence of Arawak Indians, themselves victims of ruthless exploitation and enslavement by Spanish overlords, the Maroons settled into established communities high in the mountains. (Olson, pg.234) By the mid sixteenth century runaways outnumbered whites 7 to 1. (Campbell, pg. 2) This proved to be very frightening for the Spanish planters because the Maroons would strike with stealth and speed, and retreat just as quickly. This poem by Anon gives an image of the power and fear the Maroons embeded in the Spanish planters. The wild Maroons, impregnable and free Among the mountain holds of liberty Sudden as lightning darted on their foe Seen like the flash, remember like the blow. (Campbell, pg. 44) All over the European controlled Caribbean governments were trying to control these threats to their establishments. Trained hunting parties were assembled to attempt to hunt down and destroy the

  • 4. Analysis Of New Rulers Of The World By John Pilger There s no difference between the quite ruthless intervention of international capital into foreign markets these days than there was in the old days, when they were backed up by gunboats.... The world is divided between the rich, who get richer, and the poor, who get poorer, and the rich get richer on the backs of the poor. That division hasn t changed for about 500 years, (Pilger, John). This quote sums up the book New Rulers of the World by John Pilger. It talks about the new global economy and shows us that divisions between the poor and the rich have never been more obvious. This book also talks about how the media and journalists are corrupt and only talk about what will make them big money, leaving out the actual truth behind the stories. Pilger based this book on the impact of globalisation in Indonesia, where the World Bank described it as a model pupil until it s what was known as globalised economy collapsed in 1998. Since then, globalisation has made the world smaller. But not only has globalisation made the world smaller, it has made it interdependent. Globalization may seem like a good idea, get your products out there, make a lot of money, but it is really hurting our world as a whole and making it virtually smaller . Throughout the book, Pilger examines sweatshops of famous name brands around the world. Then the questions start flowing out: Who are the real beneficiaries of this globalized economy? Who actually rules the world now? Is it governments or handfuls of gigantic companies? It is proven that the Ford Motor company by itself is bigger than the whole economy of South Africa and that Bill Gates is richer and has a greater wealth than all of Africa alone! Pilger pretends to be a buyer so he can infiltrate the Indonesian GAP and Old Navy sweatshops to interview the workers. He found that the wages of the workers could be doubled if brands like Nike would just raise their shoe prices a measly 40 cents. Pilger states: Nike workers get about 4% of the retail price of the shoes they make, which is not enough to buy the laces, (Pilger, John p.18) The first chapter, The Model Pupil talks of Asia and how globalization began there. It also talks of horrid stories in Indonesia and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Low Socioeconomic Status Essay In 2013, 23.3% of the United States population consisted of children ages 0 to 17, 20% of those children lived in poverty and about 15.8 million children lived in households that were classified as food insecure (America s Children: Key National Indicators Of Well being, 2015). Perceptions of students with low socioeconomic status (SES) combined with other circumstances certainly play a role in their development and achievements. SES is conditional, imposed on people, used for comparisons, and based on economics, opportunity, and influence. When considering SES, individuals incomes, occupations, education, neighborhood, and political power are took into consideration. A school s SES is determined by the neighborhood where it is located and by the SES of the children and families in attendance at that school (Socioeconomic Status, 2009). Students in low SES homes often experience many negative experiences outside of school that can impact their academic performance. Time availability and financial resources for academic support are struggles of families of low SES status (Education and Socioeconomic Status Factsheet, 2015). Students of families with low SES status have fewer books, fewer opportunities for reading, greater exposure to aggression and violence, fewer forms of cognitive ... Charting student performance, understanding learning standards, using appropriate instructional strategies, implementing rubrics and benchmark testing, and addressing identified learning gaps with appropriate interventions are all major steps in ensuring low SES students, or all students, are receiving the best educational experience possible (Noll, 2012, p.138). • 6. Hillary Clinton Mistakes Hillary Clinton should not run for president because she has not proved herself in her various roles in our government. While she has had many roles partaking in government positions, it doesn t mean that she was well noted for them. Many people in the United States like myself, distrust Hillary for her actions in government issues. With the recent event of an online private server being used by Hillary, she released classified information to the public through via e mails (Jones 2). When Hillary Clinton started in government in 2001, she never proved herself to be better in political issues. Even though she has held the position of secretary of state for most of her political career, it still hasn t helped her status in the long run. Hillary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will list two mistakes throughout her career. Her first and biggest mistake was with the Benghazi incident. Benghazi may go down as the biggest stain on Hillary Clinton s reputation. Whether or not Clinton made any mistakes, she will be forced to do damage control over the issue for the rest of her life because of her role as Secretary of State during the attack in September of 2012. The extent of Clinton s role in handling Benghazi is still largely unknown by the general public. The uncertainty of the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other American diplomats has done little to stop the criticism. Clinton spoke at a Congressional testimony in January of 2013 and took full responsibility for the official response to the Benghazi attacks. She asserted that there had been no conversations regarding the safety of the consulate prior to the attacks. An evaluation released by the U.S House of Representatives in April of 2013 served as a blow to her testimony. The report stated that reduced security levels in Benghazi were approved by the State Department and Hillary Clinton prior to the attacks (Black ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Michael Jordan Leadership Paper Study of a Contemporary leader When sitting down and thinking about a leader that I wanted to write about, and eventually stand up in front of people and talk about was a lot harder of a thing to do than I originally thought. There are so many different types of leaders that people follow and are drawn to, for so many different reasons. Whether those reasons follow a certain beliefs like that of cults and religions, or if they simply follow leaders because they were just born with all of the necessary skills and attributes that helps them relate to people, everyone follows a certain type of leader because of their own personal reasons. This leads me to why I chose my leader to talk about in this paper. Michael Jordan to me is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It wasn t until his junior year of high school that Jordan finally won a game against his older brothers. But even still, only standing at 5 11 as a sophomore Michael Jordan did not make varsity and had to play on the junior varsity team. This drove him to work even harder because he was fully confident that he could play with the older kids. Every single day after his normal basketball practice, Michael would go home and worked on his game even more, day in and day out. This drive and determination helped him get on the varsity team the next two years. He went on to average 25 points a game his junior and senior year at Laney High School in North Carolina. Michael s senior year he received the nomination to play in the McDonalds All American Team. Also during his senior season Michael was offered a full ride scholarship by North Carolinas coach Dean Smith to play for the Tar Heels. With Jordan having such a competitive edge, motivation, charisma, and drive he was able to become the most important player on their team, and a strong leader for the players around him. During his time at North Carolina, Michael Jordan led his team to victory in the NCAA Division 1 championship in 1982, when he scored a buzzer beater against Georgetown University to win. Michael Jordan was also recognized as NCAA College Player of the Year in 1983 and again in 1984. Jordan also made his way to his first appearance at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Importance Of My Favorite Vacation On A Trip With My Family My favorite vacation was when I went on a road trip to New Jersey with my family. First, we drove about eight hours to Wisconsin Dells, and we stayed there for one night. We stayed at the Kalahari resort where there were many enjoyable activities. Some of them include laser tag, water parks, rock wall climbing, mini golf, and so much more. Afterward, we drove about nine hours to Cedar Point, Ohio. At Cedar point we stayed at a hotel right on the beach of Lake Erie, which was walking distance from the Cedar Point amusement park, which included the fastest roller coaster in the world inside. So, the next day we arose very early to get in line to get into the park. The line took about an hour to go through because there was an abounding amount of people, but it was worth it. As a result of waiting in line, the rides were so enjoyable and felt absolutely amazing. After about five hours at the amusement park, we went back to the hotel because we were all getting tired. We rested for about 30 minutes until my siblings and I decided to go swimming in the lake. It was a very hot day so it was nice to get in the chilly, refreshing water. We swam for an hour or so, and then we ate dinner. After that, we went back to the park. It was more pleasant at night since there were fewer people in the park, and it also wasn t as hot compared to during the day. From there on, we went back to the hotel and got an excellent night s sleep, and we to get up very early the next day. Then, early the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Causes And Consequences Of The Media Catalonia was an interesting news story to cover, particularly because of its European implications. The Guardian newspaper, Sky News channel and Aljazeera.com are three distinct platforms I selected to monitor. This is mainly because of their reputation and political dissimilarities. These UK based media platforms were expected, in such a case of Catalonia, to report this story in depth. My analysis of the coverage will follow the chronological order of these platforms, which is the same historical appearance of newspapers, television and Internet. This may also facilitate how we understand the strengths and weaknesses of each medium in covering this Spanish crisis. The Guardian is centre left and favoured among Labour Party ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even the space for his speech was very short (4th October). On the other hand, the Guardian included a picture of a pro Spain rally in Barcelona and quoted from Spanish leaders. Bias, if it was so, can be also seen in attributing ordinary Catalan people, which were divided over independence. Even when the correspondents quoted what a pro Spain thinks in page 4 (2nd October), it was a woman that changed her position to support the independence because she was pulled out by the police. Sky News , which is described as a pro conservative according to the media blog (2010), treated the event quite differently. For instance, the report in Sky News at 10 (2nd October) included a sound bite of a pro Spain Catalan to balance the news story. This may reflect impartiality in this outlet coverage, but it is not easy to say so. In this report and others, the correspondents insisted on the division of Catalans, which The Guardian ignored in the background. The report reminded the viewers that although the Catalan authorities declared that 90% of voters supported the independence, only 40% voted in that referendum. This statement of an interesting fact can communicate the story clearly to the audience. The focus of reports was on protests and police violence; however, the Correspondent s report from Barcelona in Sky News at 11 (3rd October) included a sound bite of the Spanish king speech. • 11. Accounting Scandals Of Enron Company Baasit Kazi Ms. Bogert College Accounting 1 1B 28 April, 2015 Accounting Scandals Reflection Enron was founded in July of 1985. Enron was an electricity and natural gas company which was a fortune 500 company and it was ranked the sixth largest energy company in the world. Enron s stock went from a peak of $90.75 to $0.67. This was very detrimental to stockholders. Enron s top executives sold their stock a long time before the stock price fell. A lot of lower level employees could not sell their stock because of deals they made with the company. This later caused a lot of these employees to lose their life savings and everything they had worked for. Enron used a very complex accounting method to trick the stock market. This method was called mark to market accounting. Enron used this method of accounting to predict and project their earnings in a long term period. These earnings were projected based on the long term energy contracts Enron was going to make. This could have been money that was not made at that point. This made Enron s stock price skyrocket at a very fast pace, making a lot of employees and general public invest in the stock. Enron stock seemed to be a very secure and profitable investment which would make people lots of money. The Fortune 500 company went down very quickly. In August of 2001, the CEO of Enron, Jeffrey Skilling resigned. He randomly resigned and a lot of suspicions arose. His resignation was described to be because of personal reasons. ... • 13. Spoon River Poetry Analysis The 1915 poetry collection, Spoon River Anthology, by Edgar Lee Masters, offers a portrait of daily life in a fictional Illinois town, Spoon River. As is evident from the poems Spoon River was an economic boom town which profited greatly from its proximity to rail roads and a major waterway. Regardless of its prosperity, Spoon River seems to have remained a demographically small town, and the neighbors all knew each other very well, and a clear social hierarchy formed. One of the more interesting aspects of the Spoon River Anthology is that the poems contained therein are a series of grave epitaphs that tell a story about each deceased resident. Often, graveyards themselves can serve as reminders of social hierarchies in the world of the living. Typically, only those decedents who had family members and a community who cared for them would be laid to rest in the community grave; the potter s field and the crematorium awaited those who passed away without family, in debt, or with a criminal record. Thus, the initial assessment of the deceased within the Spoon River graveyard would be that they were good people in their lives. Indeed, many of the epitaphs depict the decedents as moral, hardworking, and decent people. However, when cross referencing the epitaphs from each citizen, it becomes clear that the prominent members of Spoon River were incredibly corrupt in their day to day behavior. Ultimately, Masters explores ethics in Spoon River Anthology by studying the fine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Plant proteins become animal proteins when eaten and metabolized by herbivorous animals, and when carnivorous animals eat the herbivorous. A portion of this ammonia is converted into soil nitrogen (fixed nitrogen) by another set of bacteria and the balance is released into the atmosphere as free nitrogen (N2). (nitrogen cycle, n.d.) Human impact on this cycle is very significant. Farmers plant crops such as; peas, beans, and alfalfa. Once the tape recorder was perfected (about 1950), and its potentialities fully realized, other electronic sound equipment (either already existing or suitably modified) could be assembled to form the first electronic music studio (99, Brindle). Packer s intentions were not to create two separate models; rather he intended to create a spectrum from one extreme to the other. The Scottish legal system does not wholly consist of crime control elements nor due process elements. It is a mixture of both of these models that attempts to balance the rights of the state to secure a conviction, with the rights of the accused to a fair trial. It can be seen that there is not an appropriate balance between the two as there is not equal and proportionate rights given to both parties, resulting in excessive protection being given to the defendant.
