10 Common Mistakes when Using Social Media to Grow Your...
10 common mistakes when using Social Media to grow your business I am hoping that by now you
will have already started to wake up to the idea of using social media to grow your business. In this
day and age it is absolutely vital that you do so. You will be surprised at just how much extra custom
you can gain just by making a couple of status updates every day or so. Before you jump into the
world of social media however, you would be wise to read this list. Let me introduce you to ten of the
most common mistakes people make when they use social media. 1. Only Focusing on Facebook: This
is the WORST mistake you can make. Sure, it is the largest social media network in the world, but if
you are looking for the most SEO juice and to really drive that traffic to your site then you WILL have
to use other social media networks. This includes sites such as Twitter. Do not be on too many though
(2 or 3 is suffice). Too many social media sites and you will spread yourself thin. The result is that you
will not be able to focus on anything properly. 2. Not Marketing Enough on Your Own Website: It is
VITAL that you have social media buttons on your website. This includes links to your social media
profiles AND links to allow people to share your content. 3. No SEO: One of the main reasons as to
why you want to use social media is for SEO purposes. Surprisingly very few people actually ensure
that their social media pages are SEO ed. If you do not know how to go about this then DO

Characterisation Of The Father And Son In Cormac...
4. Discuss how one novel you have studied constructs complex characters to represent complex ideas.
The use of characterisation in a text can be used to represent complex ideas. Cormac McCarthy s 2006
novel, The Road, follows the journey of a man and son that face several events that challenge their
humanity in order to survive the post apocalyptic America. By studying the characterisation of the
father and son in The Road, it is revealed that complex ideas are represented. Readers may find that
the existentialist ideas of death and violence being unavoidable, love able to be shown through
actions, every decision having both rewards and repercussions and when humans are put in extreme or
difficult situations, core values and beliefs may be abandoned, are promoted through the actions and
thoughts of the characters. These ideas are developed especially through the four main events in the
novel through the use of dark imagery and descriptive language.
Death and violence are unavoidable and we must find purpose in life with the acceptance of this fact.
Throughout the novel, the father and son are forced to react to several events where this idea is evident
and promoted. Although the father is characterised as logical and morally conflicted, he prioritises the
boy s safety. This is revealed through some of the main events that occur in the novel, such as when
the duo encounter a man struck by lightning and on the verge of death. Despite his son s pleas to help
the man, the

Complete my.blog 3.1 (45), my.blog 3.2 (36), my.blog 3.3 (53). What did you discover about your
value orientation that you did not know before? After completing my.blog 3.1, I learned several things.
The first thing is that I am individualistic, meaning that I have a tendency to emphasize my individual
identity over a group identity. The second was that I am small power distance oriented, meaning I tend
to value equal power distributions, equal rights and relations, and equitable rewards and punishments
on the basis of performance. Third, I learned that Ii have feminine patterns, meaning that I emphasize
flexible sex roles when it comes to behaviors. Finally, I learned that I have a strong uncertainty
avoidance, meaning I prefer clear procedures, and conflict, avoidance behaviors. Overall, I think this
is basically spot on. I do tend to want equal rights, and rewards/punishments based on performance,
and I do really hate conflict. After completing my.blog 3.2, I also learned even more. After adding up
my scores, I found that I am a bicultural value person. Neither my individualism score or my
collectivism score was much different. This means that in certain situations when my value of self
reliance and personal freedom is the focus I may be more individualistic, while when it comes to
being sensitive to others needs, I may be more collectivist. After completing my.blog 3.3, I also
learned that doing, or action oriented, that when it comes to density I tend to be in

Eyewitness Testimony Research Paper
Eyewitness Testimony The use of the eyewitness testimony has always been viewed as one of the
most reliable forms of evidence when it comes to the court system. Recently many cases have been
brought up where the use of the eyewitness testimony has failed and put an innocent citizen into jail
leaving the criminal on the loose and a threat to the population. This has caused eyewitness testimony
to go from a reliable source to a controversial subject for many. The eyewitness testimony should not
be used because memory is corrupted after a certain length of time, interviews push eyewitnesses to
identify a subject, and lineups further confuse the witness. The article Juror Knowledge of Eyewitness

Success with Blinkers On is Fleeting...Failure Follows Fast In order to be successful in school and in
the classroom, one must use all resources available take advantage of every opportunity that arises.
Many times, there is failure before success, but that allows a person to return with ferocity to win and
succeed. There are a number of factors that drive one to push all limits in order to achieve success. In
Mordecai Richler s The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz , the themes of success and failure, greed
and materialism are prominent and circumscribe the character of Duddy Kravitz. Duddy is victimized

Duddy Kravitz grew up without knowledge of any better life and hustled for every penny he made.
His greed fuels his success and also causes his failures. It is important to realize that without his greed,
Duddy would not have his land. Nevertheless, he would have a stable relationship with Yvette. The
exact nature of Duddy s greed is exhibited when he works at the Hotel Lac des Sables in Ste. Agathe.
He is tricked into acting as banker for a rigged roulette game where he loses three hundred dollars.
Owing to this failure , Duddy runs away from the resort with shame, but Irwin (the one who swindles
him) is forced to return the money. After he receives the money from Irwin, he is welcomed by Mr.
Cohen, one of the guests, who along with other contributors has donated five hundred dollars to pay
Duddy back. Here it is observed that Duddy has no moral values: Duddy rushed upstairs..... and did a
few somersaults (Richler 92). He has just received eight hundred dollars in total. He goes from being a
child and escaping from his problems, to a man with money. Duddy s ambitions are based off this
childish greed. His greed drives his confidence and gives him an ego. When things do not go his way,
he does not know where to turn and reverts to being greedy again. This affects other characters too,
such as Virgil, who knows no better of Duddy and looks up to him as a guru. Unfortunately for Virgil,
from the moment they met on the train, Duddy s intent was not to provide support to Virgil, but to
cheat him and profit from his simple mindedness. From the moment, they meet, he takes any chance
he gets to swindle Virgil. This is first seen when Virgil comes to Montreal. Duddy takes this
opportunity to get free work done and Virgil believes that Duddy truly cares for him. So when Virgil is
desperate for money and help, Duddy gives him a job. At the same time, he is constantly cheating

Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech By Ronald Reagan
Two hundred and nine thousand. That is the number of lives that were nobly given to save the many
during the invasion of Normandy (D day and the Battle of Normandy). The courageous men and
women fought continuously for days on end, climbing the jagged cliffs of Normandy, France. Under
rifle fire from gun nests from above, the allied troops were able to take control of the coastline, but not
without great sacrifice. The speech given by Ronald Reagan was made to commemorate those who
fearlessly fought for our country and the many thousands that gave their lives during those hard days
of war. His speech had a clear message, to honor and remember those who gave and risked their lives
during the invasion of Normandy.

Reagan spoke with passion and sorrow. But he showed an appreciation and respect for those who
fought. He uses the word we very often, which unites the people and shows union. In his speech he
uses the word we 19 times to show the bond between us as a people, and as a nation. He uses
rhetorical questions asking why they served and fought till their last breath. You were young the day
you took these cliffs; some of you were hardly more than boys, with the deepest joys of life before
you. Yet, you risked everything here. Why? Why did you do it? What impelled you to put aside the
instinct for self preservation and risk your lives to take these cliffs? What inspired all the men of the
armies that met here? We look at you, and somehow we know the answer. It was faith and belief; it
was loyalty and love. (Reagan). He answers his questions with love and loyalty for their families and
their country. Reagan uses this in his speech to make the audience think deeply about why the men did

The History Of Medgar Evers And The Civil Rights Movement
Revolution, a sudden, complete or marked change in something (Dictionary.com). The Civil Rights
Movement sparked a reaction in the country. The idea of allowing African Americans full rights and
privileges left white Americans to brutalize and discriminate. In 1954, Medgar Evers became the first
state field secretary of the NAACP in Mississippi. He was a civil rights activist that fought to end the
racial injustice he experienced growing up in the South. (Biography.com). He was later murdered by a
member of the KKK, but died in the fight for freedom. It takes people to believe, to follow, and to
start a revolution.
Medgar Evers had a big role in the Civil Rights Movement. Evers also led demonstrations and
economic boycotts of white owned companies that practiced discrimination . He stimulated a drive in
others a part of NAACP to end intolerance and defeat injustice. (Biography.com). By Medgar and his
proposition, he showed other African Americans light through hatred. Evers fought against
discrimination to prove he can be just like the others. While he failed to gain admission to the law
school, Evers managed to raise his profile with the NAACP. After working with the NAACP, he
brought up a case to the Supreme Court Brown v. Board of Education case , which help end
segregation issues throughout schools. (Biography.com). Medgar Evers was part of the revolution to
end discrimination and injustice for all.
Under those circumstances, Evers life was sadly cut short.

BACKGROUND
1.1 INTRODUCTION
1.1.1 GAME CONSOLES
A video game console is an interactive entertainment computer or modified computer system that
produces a video display signal which can be used with a display device (a television, monitor, etc.) to
display a video game. The term video game console is used to distinguish a machine designed for
consumers to buy and use solely for playing video games from a personal computer, which has many
other functions, or arcade machines, which are designed for businesses that buy them and then charge
others to play.

1.1.2 GPU (Graphics Processing Units)
A graphics processing unit or GPU (also occasionally called visual processing unit or VPU) is a
specialized processor that offloads 3D graphics rendering from the microprocessor. It is used in
embedded systems, mobile phones, personal computers, workstations, and game consoles. Modern
GPUs are very efficient at manipulating computer graphics, and their highly parallel structure makes
them more effective than general purpose CPUs for a range of complex algorithms. In a personal
computer, a GPU can be present on a video card, or it can be on the motherboard. More than 90% of
new desktop and notebook computers have integrated GPUs, which are usually far less powerful than
those on a dedicated video card.

What Factors in the Present Situation of Hong Kong Explain...
Often when we talk about culture and belonging, cultural identity is a large component which follows
up the traditions, values and customs practised by a group. The most prominent concern there is with
Hong Kong s political and social situation is the issue of independence, nationalism and identity. Hong
Kong s political identity and struggle, although has extensive history, prevails today. The identity
crisis began in the year 1997. On July 1st, Hong Kong was handed over back to the People s Republic
of China (PRC); acquiring the title of being a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of the PRC. This
is only a temporary title, however, as on July 1, 2046, Hong Kong will lose its SAR status, and

Places where art really flourishes are those where there are urgent issues that art needs to deal with.
(Ho, 2005). In this statement, we immediately gather that art isn t only utilised for the purpose of
leisure or entertainment, however inspiration comes from minor things in our surroundings which
become greater things in retrospect. Art holds a much deeper and meaningful message, and is often
used to reach out to the masses. Common examples are propaganda and protest. In the midst of this
identity crisis, Tsou Choi Tsang, a street graffiti artist s work is of great significance today. The sudden
surge of interes in Tsang s work can be explained by its connection to Hong Kong s society; the
process of creating culture, rather than preserving it. Due to the political and social factors in Hong
Kong s society today, Tsang s work is perpetually relevant. His work highlights the themes of property
ownership, post colonialism, power, and territoriality. Even 17 years after the handover back to China,
and 7 years after Tsou Choi Tsang s death, his work is still powerful and influential as it covers topics
which several locals can relate to. Tsou Choi Tsang, better recognised by the title of the King of

Sociological Analysis on Leadership Communication
This paper will break down how leadership communication and leadership meetings play out
sociologically. Within Banner leadership is made up through Bureaucracy, which within this company
is made up of predominantly females. As you may imagine, leadership meetings are made up of many
social statuses, roles, and leadership styles. The most sociologically interesting part is that the meeting
is made of many different factors, yet throughout the entire meeting the group continued to have the
corporate culture in mind, and always pushed towards the end goal in a way that would reflect the
company s mission and vision statements. The social context of the meetings were always geared
towards the development and growth in a large healthcare corporation. When the high level ranked
employees would speak to implement new policies they took a more direct approach, which came
across more stern. There was also a more open approach when there was open discussion to come up
with solutions or ideas on ways to better enhance the company. With the open discussion it was much
more enthusiastic and encouraging within the room. The people affected by leadership and their
meetings are patients who are seen within Banner, and all of Banner s employees. Trends that can be
seen throughout leadership and their meeting are bureaucracy, social status, roles, educational degree,
teamwork, curiosity, and social integrations. The sociological theory that

Summer Camp Research Paper
We need to return them better than they were given to us . It was drilled into our heads from day one
of training, until the Friday of the final week. This was not a statement concerning a materialistic item,
but something of infinitely greater value: the lives of children. You would not expect such a heavy
responsibility from your employment at a summer camp. Everyday, we embarked on adventures that
changed their perspectives on the world around them, just as the summer sunshine was changing the
tone of their skin. It was hard to believe how much the kids had developed over the course of the
summer, and it was even harder to comprehend how my interaction with their childhoods fostered
such a departure from mine. Preparing for this job was not easy: a twenty hour training period was to
be completed weeks before the beginning of camp. Delivered to us trainees from the voices of first
hand witnesses, we were exposed to the horrors of child abuse and the gravity of our roles in
preventing it. Child abuse did not happen mostly in dark alley ways, but in places that are filled with
kids and nearby witnesses, which fit the description of the YMCA summer camps perfectly. Long ...

Essay on Testing Aerodynamic Structures for Our Science...
First, aerodynamics is the study of the motion of the air. Aerodynamics consists of 4 variables, which
is thrust, gravity, lift, and drag. (Tennekes,H, 2009) Aerodynamics has to do with almost everything
dealing with air of course.(Tennekes,H ,2009) For example, it can be air crafts, it can be wings, it can
be birds, it can be a race car. Birds need aerodynamics so they can glide in the air so they can also gain
enough speed to catch prey. Like a hawk swooping down 70 miles an hour to get a mouse to eat. Race
cars need aerodynamics so that the car structure can have the most air resistance it wont apply as
much pressure onto the car. Like birds air crafts also need aerodynamics for the wings on the aircraft
or the weight of the aircraft. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have to deal with aerodynamics everyday since they are the scientists who works everyday
trying to make aerodynamic rockets to study space, they have to be very precise when ever they make
a rocket, it can take years, because one time NASA sent a rocket but as soon it hit a certain altitude it
exploded because of on of the cables inside wasn t connected. (NASA,2013) Plus NASA is also
creating aircraft for the future so they can send regular people into space to experience how it would
feel like to go into space, but the trip would cost over 3 million dollars, so you would only be allowed
to get on if you are a millionaire or higher. (NASA,2013) Lift is a force pushes the object up ward.
Drag is related to air resistance, drag is like friction but like in the air. Drag is a force that causes to
pull the object the opposite way, for example if you put your hand out a window of a car and the car is
on the high way, and if you make your hand like a wall and put it out in the air it would pull your hand
back wards. (Paper Airplanes HQ 2013) But if you put your hand flat down it would just let your hand
pass through since its allows air to go around the hand causing little drag. Thrust is a forward force
which allows the object to go into the air, for example when you have a paper airplane and throw it,
that throw with your arm is the thrust for the airplane to launch.(Auld,D.J. K.Srinivas ,2013) Gravity

Comparing Wilfred Owen s Poetry
Wilfred Owen and Lord Alfred Tennyson, are two of the most critically and publically acclaimed war
poets. Both use language and stylistic features to communicate the vastly juxtaposing ideas of the

Owen in both of his poems Dulce et Decorum Est and Anthem for doomed youth showcase the horror
of war. Both poems follow Owen experiences in the trenches in northern France in World War One.
Both poems heavily feature alliteration with watch the white eyes writhe in Dulce et Decorum Est,

Quality Assessment And Quality Assurance
Quality assessment and quality assurance in healthcare: importance, challenges, and facilitators Robert
Vining Jefferson College of Health Sciences Course: Foundations of Healthcare Administration
Instructor: Sharon L Hatfield PhD Correspondence Information: rdvining@jchs.edu Date: Abstract
Quality assessment and quality improvement in healthcare are methods for assessing the performance
of healthcare delivery in terms of quality. Quality is a term broadly describing efficient access to care
and effective services, which meet health needs of individuals and populations. Quality assessments
are commonly carried out by health service organizations to comply with regulatory agencies and as
part of a continual improvement process. Data obtained from quality assessments helps determine the
need to of implement changes to enhance components of care requiring improvement. Changes
implemented may include provider behaviors, organizational policies, procedures, and infrastructure
modification. Examples of both successful quality improvement programs and barriers limiting their
success can be used to inform health service organizations. Quality assessment and quality assurance
in healthcare: importance, challenges, and facilitators Quality assessment in healthcare is a process
whereby a predetermined measure of quality, such as access to care or treatment guideline adherence,

THE ANNOUNCER is a character driven story with strong potential. The idea of a successful
businessman giving up the security of his stable and financially secure and swanky life for an
unpredictable and erratic career as a voice announcer is highly engaging.
The premise is a great set up for conflict, drama, humor, and character transformation. The script
conveys strong themes about never giving up on one s dream. The tone is dramatic, but with a
wonderful blend of humor. There s also a strong, inspiring pitch to the story.

and it s so important to his character growth. Most of all, it s not really clear what emotionally chokes
his voice.
The audience has to understand what prevents him psychologically from performing. It could be
connected to his father. It could be as simple as recognizing that he s achieving his father s dream and
feels as if he s betraying him. Maybe he suffers from panic attacks/anxiety and he has to find a way to
overcome it like focusing on an object until he learns to resolve it internally in the third act. Once he
realizes what blocks his voice, then he can go on.
Steve is a terrific character. He s extremely likable and the audience roots for him. He has a strong
range of emotion. His dialogue as an announcer is solid. It s his inner conflict that requires more
clarity. At the end he undergoes a powerful character transformation. Betsy is very likable. She

today. It is a beautiful film that reflects the postmodernist era by its use of techniques to depict the life
and choices made of the movies protagonist Nemo Nobody. Postmodernism is a cultural movement
that is drifting away from its former art, literature, cinema, and architecture once used in a modernist
era. One of the main themes portrayed in this film is that of fragmentation. Fragmentation is
constantly shown throughout this film by the anarchy and chaos the director chose to display. The
meaning of fragmentation is being able to pull away information in order to connect it to a bigger
story. In order to understand the film information must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every decision Nemo makes affects his life in one way or another. The film shows us many pathways
Nemo can choose from. But how do you choose a life in which you already know the outcome? That
is what separates this move from the rest. Each life nemo can choose from is beautiful in its own way.
In the film Nemo as an elderly man says Each of these lives is the right one. Every path is the right
path. Everything could have been anything else and it would have just as much meaning (Mr.
Nobody). This line from the film really has an impact of the choices Nemo is left with. The quote
shows that each life is just as meaningful as the other. They all come with their own positives and
negatives. These choices displayed in fragmented form show the audience the postmodernist way of
thinking that no life is worth living more than yours. The director shows this in the film by Nemo not
being able to make a decision of choosing to live with his mom or dad so he chooses to make his own

Mark Twain s Clemens Notebook 1904
As Samuel L. Clemens, otherwise known as Mark Twain once said, Whenever you find yourself on
the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. This was said in Clemens Notebook 1904. For
generations, many people have lived by this quote. Some whether notorious or any ordinary people.
Being politics in the government, or people using their knowledge for their everyday lives. Everyone
must make their own individual decisions in any situation. The majority cannot be one person, one
person has their own ideas and emotions. Agreeing with everyone else without personal views is
basically writing the same thing over and over again. Nothing will be resolved, ever. Our opinions,
thoughts, and ideas make us who we are, and it is who we are that makes people different from their
societies.. Its views, everything.
Lucille Ball chose to be different from other women in the United States, she was an actress, a very
notorious and successful one at that. Ball was slow and steady, but eventually became a success. As
told in Top 101 Remarkable Women, edited by Jeanne Nagle, Lucille Ball was unsuccessful at first,
but she eventually became more and more popular. To the point she and her husband formed Desilu
Productions, launching comedies and specials, such as, I Love Lucy and The Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz

it. More and more, her voice was heard, she became a powerful

The Education System Of Education Essay
There s a lot going on in today s society from the election, roads, taxes, even killer clowns. I m going
to talk about today s education system. Since the education being taught in the schools is for the
generations to come. People need education to have a stable life in this country, to get a good job, and
to support themselves financially. Therefore, are need to improve education overall.
First, the students being taught in the classes are based on technology. We already know how
technology is carrying how students perform in education. But in education today kids and students
are surrounded by it. When I was elementary or even middle school there was no such thing as an Ipad
or a Chromebook. The school board is making students feel like it s a necessity to have in class
everyday. I see kids at the age of 6 or 7 asking for their Ipad or chromebook for homework. I ask
myself is this really how the school board wants to teach the future generation of students? Students
are so used to using PowerPoint and Word at such a young age.
Secondly, the lack of teachers and the lack of people who want to be teachers is creating problems.
Teachers have been going on strike in different committees in the US. The most this class would know
about is how Mchenry high schools teachers went on strike. We don t pay our teachers enough for
what they do. The teachers in the US barely make enough to live a nice live. Overall I think we should
pay teachers as much as doctors because a doctor

Women s Struggle And Power
Throughout centuries, women were only considered to be chattel of the supreme male beings. They
received no accountability for their heroic actions, the gift of bearing children or raising them in the
infinite family line. Women s efforts and power to act, remained unnoticed by society. It is only during
a time of massacre and atrocious murder, that oblivion had crushed reality and the warped perspective
of a women s incapability s. The belief that a female could not perform a function adequately was
quickly demolished along with the idea of superior male soldiers that victoriously lost their lives in
battle. The First World War impacted the lives of all women in Canada by gaining partial equality to
men, the right to vote and a remarkable spread of female independence. Firstly, women worked to
authenticate that men were not inferior to them, either through occupations, education or skill, in order
to gain the equality they willingly challenged. The hardships of the First World War, had affected the
country and its economical standing with the departure of male soldiers overseas and the limited
resources available to the population left behind. Women had bravely taken the opportunity to replace
their husbands, fathers and sons, to aid the war effort or simply for the adventure. Over 30,000 women
were employed in ammunition factories, civil services or overseas as ambulance drivers and motor
transport occupations. This caused the movements of suffragists and the

Workplace Safety In The Workplace
Workplace safety is a big deal. If you don t think so, take a look at the research done by the
Occupational Safety and Health Organization (OSHA).American employers pay out an average of $1
billion per week for workman s compensation fees. Mind you, this doesn t include medical and legal
fees that incur. Staying on top of the safety aspect in your workplace is not only essential because you
don t want to see anyone get hurt. It s essential because it s best for the financial health of your
business. When it comes to workplace safety, employee engagement needs to be placed high on the
list of topics to approach. This is the case for a few reasons.
1.Perception
It s often stated that perception is everything. People filter information through the lens of their own
perceptions. Whether their perception is healthy or not, they re bound to look at it through that lens.
So, as an employer that s desiring employee engagement, it s important to consider a person s
perception. While you re not responsible for every little detail of why people perceive information the
way that they do, you do need to take it into account. For example, if something happens with a
machine breaking down and it s the fault of a particular employee, the initial feelings might be mixed
with anger and frustration. However, it s best to calm down, get collected and face the issue with a
cool head. If you get behind the computer and type an angry email with all caps, the perception is that
you re angry,

The foundation is the base for the constructed building and as such is required to carry out several
functions as follows:
0 The foundation should safely sustain and transmit to the ground the combined dead and imposed

adjoining works.
1 Foundations should be deep enough or be constructed in such a way as to avoid damage by the

Strip foundation ready to receive brickwork. This foundation is for a two bedroom starter home.
There are various methods of modifying the concept of strip foundations to allow its use in other
situations, for instance where some soil has a poor bearing capacity. This may be the case in wet
ground, soft clay or filled ground, where the width of the strip foundation can be extended to spread
the load over a larger area of soil. This will require the provision of reinforcement to the foundation in
order to withstand tension and spread the load over a wider area.
When a strip foundation is to be used on a sloping site the most economic solution is to use a stepped
foundation which will reduce the amount of excavation, construction under ground, backfill and
trench support. The provision of stepped foundations following the line of the ground requires each
step to be between 150 and 225millimetres in order to accommodate brick or block courses. The lap of
concrete at the step should be not less than the depth of the foundation concrete and never less than
300millimetres whichever is the greater.

Why Is Animal Cruelty Wrong
Animal cruelty is a global wide issue that has been happening for many, many years. It happens in all
parts of the world, and happens to several different species of animals. From dogs, to cats, to cows and
chickens, each and everyday animal abuse happens. Animal abuse is simply wrong, and there is no
reason for any person anywhere, for any reason to hurt an innocent creature, no matter what. However,
many people who are involved with animal abuse refuse to admit to being apart of it, and will do
everything in their power to deny any type of actions.
An attributing topic to the controversy of animal cruelty is the animal testing done on animals by large
companies. Woman and men who enjoy using cosmetics consume these products by spending a large
sum of money each year on their beauty regimen every year. There are several companies that use

The Life of Larry Bird
Many people wish for greatness; Larry Bird worked for it until he achieved it, particularly in
basketball. Basketball has always been a fast paced, exciting game to watch. The sport has even been
nationally televised for decades. The game has gained special popularity because of its superstars.
National Basketball Association (NBA) superstars are recognized by many as the most recognizable
pro athletes. Larry Bird was one of the most famous stars of the league, and his popularity greatly
increased the publics interest in the league. Larry Bird s fame and basketball success was brought
about by his hard work and competitiveness.
It all began on December 7, 1956, in a rural Indiana town called West Baden; Larry Bird was born
(Borden n. pag.). His family s life in West Baden and French Lick was anything but glamorous.
However, Bird said, I just never realized how poor we were. Nobody in French Lick was wealthy
(Borden n. pag.). This poor community lifestyle led to his eventual interest in basketball, as he and his
brothers couldn t afford other entertainments. They instead competed against each other in any sport
they could. Larry s brothers helped him improve as a player by beating him so badly that he wanted to
practice his skills in order to beat them (Borden n. pag.).
As he grew up, Larry began to also excel in high school basketball. He drew a great amount of interest

Crowdsourcing at AOL Case Analysis
1. A brief analysis of the case study
AOL engaged in what is called micro tasking , and is believed to revolutionize the virtual workforce.
Micro tasking is what Daniel Maloney, an AOL executive, applied when he was faced with
inventorying a vast video library. He broke the large job into small pieces and utilized a
crowdsourcing IT platform, Mechanical Turk, in order to describe each task that he required to be
done. Each worker was asked to find web pages containing a video and identify the video s source and
location. The project started within a week and completed in a couple of months. The total labor cost

He assembles and controls the entire project.
2 3. What factors should be considered when deciding whether or not to crowdsource a particular part
of a business?
I think the following three points implies factors to decide. 1) Any tasks that require advanced
knowledge in a certain area should not be crowd sourced. Because managers controls a large number
of workers and review the quality of services, critical functions related to company s brand should not
be crowd sourced. 2)Even if each company has its strategic capability, crowdsourcing vital areas that
sustain company s capabilities might lead a company to lose its advantage. 3) Crowd sourcing is more
suitable for non creative, simple works to be break into micro tasks.
2 4. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of crowdsourcing.
I consider that the advantages of crowdsourcing not only reduce cost, but also provide working
opportunities with a large number of general people. For example, 1) Total labor cost can be reduced.
2) It s generally faster than hiring temp staff or traditional outsourcing firms 3)Mothers, who quit
working even if they have working experiences, can utilize working opportunities in order to work as
a part time job. 4) Crowdsourcing provide NEET (Not in Education, Employed and Trained) people
with opportunities to join something social activities. On the other hand, disadvantage implies that 1)

The Pros And Cons Of Government Shutdown
Two years ago, in 2013, the government was shut down due to disagreement between the two parties
in Congress. There may be another closure. On September 9 at 7 A.M., The Washington Post
published an article stating the possibility of government shutdown on October 1, 2015. Congress is
way behind on passing spending bills that would allow funding for the government; the problem lies
within the disagreement about spending and where cuts should be made: it also stems from both
parties trying to push their ideology into the agenda. All the disagreement prolongs the process for
these bills to be passed. The deadline for the bills to be passed is September 30. If the government

A government shutdown would ultimately bring everything to a standstill. When to political parties on
a specific topic, it takes twice as long to come to terms since they cannot agree on what to cut and how
much. The politics dictate what gets passed and when., and it is crucial to ensure the bill for
government spending is passed on time. Government funding isn t something that should be taken
lightly. Without a bill passed to fund the government, all the agencies will not be able to function and
support the general public. The primary people whose job are at stake are the federal workers,
therefore leaving those people unemployed. Another pitfall of government shutdown is that each day
that the government is inoperable the national deficit worsens. It costs money to shut down a
government. The FDA and the EPA which help regulates businesses that portect the people from harm

Principles behind the Growth Process of Thin Films
CHAPTER 2: BACKGROUND Deposition and characterization of the thin films discussed in Chapter
1 will require an understanding of many different tools and processes that are currently used in the
semiconductor industry today. This chapter will cover the principles behind the growth process, the
experimentation and the material properties. The equipment used for these processes will be discussed
in depth as well.
2.1 Equipment The equipment used in the deposition of thin films can vary widely depending on what
material is being grown. Different deposition techniques affect different material properties, such as:
index of refraction, surface roughness, crystallinity, film quality and many others [VLSI, Seshan]. The
two main techniques are physical vapor deposition (PVD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD).
These techniques are used for different materials and different processes and CVD is the deposition
technique this thesis focuses on. These techniques are implemented in different deposition systems
with many different features and they have a wide range of applications. After the material is grown,
the parameters of the material need to be characterized. This requires a complete understanding of the
tools which are being operated. Different tools are necessary to determine the different important
parameters of a material such as: reactive ion etchers, ellipsometers, atomic force microscopes, and x
ray diffraction spectroscopes. An inductively coupled plasma reactive ion

Joseph Von Faunhofer Research Paper
Joseph von Fraunhofer was a German optician and physicist who discovered and influenced how
astronomers view the dark line spectrum, the spectrum of the sun and the diffraction of light. On
March 6, 1787 in Straubing, Bavaria, Joseph Ritter von Fraunhofer was born into a poor family where
his father Franz Xaver Fraunhofer was a watch glass maker. At the age of 10, Joseph s mother, Maria
Anna Frohlich passed away, and only a year after his father died. This left Fraunhofer orphaned and
forced him to start working as an apprentice for a harsh lens maker named Philipp Anton
Weichelsberger. This was appropriate because since the age of 10 Joseph was already working in his
family s workshop. Weichelsberger used Fraunhofer primarily as slave labor, often driving him to near
starvation and exhaustion. However, on July 21, 1801, the workshop in which Fraunhofer was
working in collapsed. Although it seemed like a tragic incident at the time, in hindsight this changed
Joseph von Fraunhofer s life for the better, and therefore changed the course of astronomy. This

effective because the wire mesh would split, then re split the passing light. Thus, in 1821 he
constructed a diffracting grating involving 260 wires that would produce a widely dispersed spectrum.
Although revolutionary, it took forty years before advances were made on his work due to the fact that
extensive time and expensive equipment were needed to duplicate his work. With his invention of the
diffraction grating, he transformed spectroscopy from a qualitative art to a quantitative science by

The Importance Of Censorship In Libraries
Censorship is a huge thing within today s society, Censorship in libraries is when a school board, a
parent, or just anyone challenges a book that is explicit with sexual language, homosexuality, and or
religion. The meaning of censorship is to ban a book, it s not necessarily up to the library, but more so
to the community and the school board. Anyone can challenge a book to be censored, even if it s not
explicit, if you personally take offense to a book you can challenge it to be a censored or banned book,
but with that you have to have a valid reason on why you want it banned or censored. There are
thousands of books that are considered to be explicit and are banned out of libraries in some schools

Including Ten Sleep, Wyoming. On the other hand there s a lot of schools who have just this specific
book banned or censored because it is sexually explicit, homosexuality explicit, and religiously

For my second reasoning, books can be challenged, censored, or banned in libraries if the parents,
staff, or school board if they do not necessarily agree with their children to read books that are
censored in libraries because they could be religious and it could be going against their beliefs and that
would affect and cause a lot of chaos for the school district or public library; my prospective and voice
on this is that there should be books banned, censored, or challenge because theirs always going to be
someone who will take offense to something, wither it is a book, a movie, a magazine, or even a song.

Three Ways To Facilitate A Child s Development In Child...

There are many ways which an adult can facilitate a child s language acquisition (acquire new and

qualifying standards back in 2005 were relaxed to a fault. I liked to think that I was responsible
enough to have this investment in a property to call my own, but we bought at the height of market in
Orlando, and only gained in equity for about 6 months. In 2007, our house was worth $40,000.00 less
than what we purchased it for. My home in Orlando was a $1,300.00 monthly mortgage that I thought
I could afford with help from roommates, but quickly found this to be too daunting. I ended up
moving out, and thankfully rented until this year. We finally found a buyer for the house this year,
without having to bring any money to closing. This is ten years of mortgage payments later. All thanks

The Age Of Exploration By Christopher Columbus
The fifteenth to seventeenth century is known as the Age of Exploration . Europe began to colonize
the countries they had discovered . A major part of the world that they colonized was Latin America.
Spain was the first to colonize, and the United States started to take interest in Latin America towards
the 19th century. Europe and The United States both took interest in Latin America, but for different
reasons.
Spain was the first European nation to colonize Latin America, beginning with Christopher Columbus
voyage in 1492. Columbus conquered Hispaniola, an island in the Caribbean Sea. A few decades later,
Spain sent Hernando Cortez to conquer the Aztec Empire in 1519. In 1535, the Spanish moved deeper
into South America and conquered the Incan Empire with the help of Francisco Pizarro.
When Europeans explored the world during the Age of Exploration , they colonized areas for a
number of reasons. One reason was to spread Christianity. The Spaniards believed it was their God
given duty to convert people to Christianity. A second reason was to acquire wealth through trade and
exploitation of other countries peoples and natural resources. Colonizing and acquiring the land in
Latin America also led to an increase in geopolitical power over other European countries.
The United States took interest in Latin America for economic and political reasons. The banana
appears to be a distinct reason as to why the United States went over to Latin America according to

What Are The Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet 1996 To...
Comparison of Romeo Juliet Movies The 1996 film starring Leonardo Dicaprio is very disparate to
the 1968 film but both following the book, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. The setting,
theme, and some individual parts but also including the feel it gives to the audience is very different
from one another. A big, main eye catching difference is the settings. The 1996 version film of Romeo
and Juliet takes place in a modern city setting of Verona current to the time of 1996, when the movie
was filmed. You can tell this version of the film is modern due to them handling guns, cars, and even
swimming pools as their props and background. Even the use of a very modern drug labeled LSD was
glimpsed in a certain scene

Relationship Between Lucas And Fleur
6 best friends are all hanging at Kyles house one night for a group sleepover and they are engaged in a
truth or dare session. Two of the friends, Lucas and Fleur, both have an interest in eachother but Fleur
is conflicted with an interest in Kyle, who is Lucas best friend, but Lucas has more than an interest ,
he is obsessed with her. Knowing her since she moved across the street, since they started at the same
school and since he sees her every single day and not be able to tell her how he feel then having to go
home to his junky excuse of a father, who did nothing but drink all day and order him around, but not
before disciplining him which usually left cuts and bruises around his arms, chest and face. Fleur wasn

Everything is still for a moment. The room is very tense and Kyle and Fleur look at each other then to
Lucas and back again, but Lucas eyes are fixed on his best friend. The one person he could tell
anything. The one person who was closest to him. The one person who knew about his love for Fleur.
The silence was broken when Soku and Eve came clamoring in, with Soku s crutches banging against
the walls on the way in both exclaiming Hmmm what s going on in here aye? . Lucas continued to
stare deeply at Kyle, but Fleur got to her feet and quickly mumbled Oh nothing, just all waiting for the
bathroom. Right guys? .
Right... Lucas intensely said. No one believed the story but everyone could feel the tension, so Soku
merrily said Well the games not gonna play itself right? Hahaha then bounded out of the room,
grabbing Eve by the arm and pulling her with him. Fleur rushed out after them, red and facing the
floor bumping Lucas shoulder on the way out. Kyle s eyes met Lucas and saw the anger and betrayal.
The only words he could make out were Well, Im sure she thinks I m a good kisser now huh ? then

Clavichord Research Paper
The pipe organ, clavichord, and harpsichord are considered as the earliest keyboard instrument. The
hydraulis organ is the oldest kind of pipe organ, appearing in the third century BC. It was not a
keyboard in the modern sense. From its invention until the 14th century, the organ remained the only
keyboard instrument.
Clavichord and the harpsichord appeared during the 14th century. The clavichord probably appeared
earlier than the harpsichord. The harpsichord and clavichord were both common until the appearance
of the piano in the 18th century, after which their popularity decreased. The Clavichord is a European
stringed keyboard instrument known from the late Medieval, through the Renaissance, Baroque, and
Classical eras. The Clavichord was mostly used as a practice instrument and as an instrument for
composition, because the instrument itself was not loud enough for larger performance. The
clavichord produces sound by striking brass or iron strings with small metal blades called tangents. It
allowed the strings to continue vibrating as long as the key was depressed. Thus, players had more
control over the volume of their instrument. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harpsichord was an important keyboard instrument in Europe from the 15th through the 18th
centuries. The Italian harpsichord is a single manual instrument with a very light construction and
relatively little string tension. The Italian instrument is considered pleasing but unspectacular in its
tone and serves well for accompanying singers or other instruments. Towards the end of the historical
period larger and more elaborate Italian instruments were built, notably by Bartolomeo Cristofori, who
later invented the piano. A major weak point of the harpsichord was that the dynamics of each note
could not be controlled. This meant that composers could not evoke emotion in their music as much as

School Uniforms In The United States
Today in the US, only 19% of schools are reported to have school uniforms. A decade before that, it
was 12%. The amount is increasing, but the problem is the popularity of the move is decreasing.
School uniforms hinder students and parent more than they actually help.
A Brooklyn Park Charter School sent some kids home for wearing the wrong uniform. Two brothers
were sent home early on their first day of school for not having the correct uniforms in Brooklyn Park
on Tuesday. The children wore the same outfit to school that they wore last year, which school leaders
allowed at the time. But this year, the boys were put in a room away from others where they weren t
even allowed to talk before being sent home. It s hard to spend $35 on a sweatshirt then you have to
get other clothes, Niome said.
It makes students a target for bullies from other schools. Generally, dress codes are much less
restrictive than uniform policies. School uniforms restrict students ... Show more content on

The First Amendment of the US Constitution gives us the right as individuals to express ourselves
freely. Clothing is the main way a teen can show his or her uniqueness in society. Some people may
say that because students are all wearing the same, it makes less competition between students over
clothing choices and the teasing of those who are dressed in less expensive or less fashionable outfits
can be eliminated. Bullies are smart. They will just find some other way to show status. Who has the
best iPod, who has the most games at home, who went on the biggest vacation. If kids want to pick on
someone about how rich or how poor they are, clothes are one obvious symbol, but there are a lot of
other obvious ways for them to do it. Public education is free and accessible to anyone. But with the
uniforms added to schools, some parents cannot afford the added

Germination of Mustard Seeds Using Fertiliser
Germination of Mustard Seeds using Fertilisers
1. Abstract
This study was done to look at the effects of fertilisers and identify which fertiliser produced the
fastest results. Four types of fertilisers were used over a four week period and the findings were that
inorganic fertilisers enhanced seed germination rates.
2. Introduction
Fertilisers are widely used in agricultural production because they contain essential compounds such
as phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium that have been depleted from most Australian soil. The
phosphorus is responsible for the development of the plants, providing healthy growth and strong
roots. Nitrogen furnishes a major component of chlorophyll where it s known for its ability to grow
green leaves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

5. Discussion
Seaweed and Miracle Growth fertilisers did give the fastest results, indicating that plants treated with
inorganic fertiliser s respond quickly. As the liquefied fertilisers directly seeps into the soil and reaches
the roots, plants are able to easily absorb the nutrients that they needed for growth. However, organic
fertilisers need to break down in the soil first which may potentially take time before reaching the
roots. (2)
A pattern was identified that related the form of the fertiliser to the results obtained. Seaweed fertiliser
is a liquefied solution where the components have been mixed and dissolved before hand. By sending
the nutrients directly to the roots, it can focus on nourishing the

The Sun As A Medium Sized Star Measuring The Earth
A rianna Duval
Mrs. Kent
English 8th
2 February 2015
The Sun
The sun is actually a star just like the stars that shine throughout the night. The sun is a medium sized
star measuring 864,948mi (1,392,000km) across 100 times the diameter of the earth (Farndon 47). The
core, the convection zone, and the photosphere are four main layers of the sun. The core makes energy
from hydrogen for the world s sight (Elvis 12). About 99 percent of the energy generated by the sun
through nuclear fusion is produced in its core (Koehler 14). Photons transport energy generated in the
sun s core. This movement from the sun s core is not instant, in fact, it can take up to 150,000 years
for energy to reach the photosphere. From the photosphere, energy generated in the core streams into
the sun s atmosphere and out into space. This energy that lights and heats the earth (14).
The secret of the sun s power lies in its center, or core. Core temperatures reach more than 27 million
degrees Fahrenheit (in Celsius it reaches up to 15 million degrees). The plasma is about 150 times
denser than water (Koehler 14). Under a massive amount of pressure heat and burning happens
(Jefferis 10). During the heat and burning process, particles of hydrogen join together, or fuse to make
hydrogen. While this is happening, energy is being given off. It is this power that provides the sun s
heat and light. Further out, the core heats layers of gas in the convection zone. Last, energy reaches the
surface of the sun

Employee Theft
Employee Theft (Research Paper) Antonio Childress Baker College MGT 212: Section 02570 C.
Delbridge November 27, 2012 EMPLOYEE THEFT Employee theft is a problem of considerable size
for many companies. Many corporate security experts estimate that 25 to 40 percent of all employees
steal from their employers, and the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) estimates that employee
theft of cash, property, and merchandise may cost American businesses as much as $50 billion on an
annual basis. It is also not uncommon in today s workplaces. And it is often the employee you least

Separation of duties is critical, and no employee should be responsible for both recording and
processing a transaction; do not allow the same person who sends out bills to collect the mail and
prepare bank deposits. Run irregularly scheduled surprise audits or have a third party audit your books
once a year. Also insist that your bookkeeper or any employee who has access to monies take a yearly
vacation so you can examine their records. Write and distribute a company policy that outlines exactly
what constitutes stealing. Contact your local police department if you do discover an incident of
employee theft so you send a message to your employees that stealing will not be tolerated. Most
incidents of employee theft are revealed by coworkers, but many still are hesitant to report these
incidents to their employers. Set up a system whereby employees may report employee theft
anonymously. You may also want to consider offering rewards for informants while keeping their
identity confidential. Require all checks above a nominal amount to have two signatures. Never sign a
blank check. Sign every payroll check personally. Avoid using a signature stamp. Be alert to
disgruntled or stressed employees, or those who have indicated that they are having financial
difficulties. Also look for any unexplained significant rises in an employee s living standards. Get an

  • 5. Characterisation Of The Father And Son In Cormac... 4. Discuss how one novel you have studied constructs complex characters to represent complex ideas. The use of characterisation in a text can be used to represent complex ideas. Cormac McCarthy s 2006 novel, The Road, follows the journey of a man and son that face several events that challenge their humanity in order to survive the post apocalyptic America. By studying the characterisation of the father and son in The Road, it is revealed that complex ideas are represented. Readers may find that the existentialist ideas of death and violence being unavoidable, love able to be shown through actions, every decision having both rewards and repercussions and when humans are put in extreme or difficult situations, core values and beliefs may be abandoned, are promoted through the actions and thoughts of the characters. These ideas are developed especially through the four main events in the novel through the use of dark imagery and descriptive language. Death and violence are unavoidable and we must find purpose in life with the acceptance of this fact. Throughout the novel, the father and son are forced to react to several events where this idea is evident and promoted. Although the father is characterised as logical and morally conflicted, he prioritises the boy s safety. This is revealed through some of the main events that occur in the novel, such as when the duo encounter a man struck by lightning and on the verge of death. Despite his son s pleas to help the man, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What did you discover about your value orientation that you did not know before? After completing my.blog 3.1, I learned several things. The first thing is that I am individualistic, meaning that I have a tendency to emphasize my individual identity over a group identity. The second was that I am small power distance oriented, meaning I tend to value equal power distributions, equal rights and relations, and equitable rewards and punishments on the basis of performance. Third, I learned that Ii have feminine patterns, meaning that I emphasize flexible sex roles when it comes to behaviors. Finally, I learned that I have a strong uncertainty avoidance, meaning I prefer clear procedures, and conflict, avoidance behaviors. Overall, I think this is basically spot on. I do tend to want equal rights, and rewards/punishments based on performance, and I do really hate conflict. After completing my.blog 3.2, I also learned even more. After adding up my scores, I found that I am a bicultural value person. Neither my individualism score or my collectivism score was much different. This means that in certain situations when my value of self reliance and personal freedom is the focus I may be more individualistic, while when it comes to being sensitive to others needs, I may be more collectivist. After completing my.blog 3.3, I also learned that doing, or action oriented, that when it comes to density I tend to be in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eyewitness Testimony Research Paper Eyewitness Testimony The use of the eyewitness testimony has always been viewed as one of the most reliable forms of evidence when it comes to the court system. Recently many cases have been brought up where the use of the eyewitness testimony has failed and put an innocent citizen into jail leaving the criminal on the loose and a threat to the population. This has caused eyewitness testimony to go from a reliable source to a controversial subject for many. The eyewitness testimony should not be used because memory is corrupted after a certain length of time, interviews push eyewitnesses to identify a subject, and lineups further confuse the witness. Duddy Kravitz grew up without knowledge of any better life and hustled for every penny he made. His greed fuels his success and also causes his failures. It is important to realize that without his greed, Duddy would not have his land. Nevertheless, he would have a stable relationship with Yvette. The exact nature of Duddy s greed is exhibited when he works at the Hotel Lac des Sables in Ste. Agathe. He is tricked into acting as banker for a rigged roulette game where he loses three hundred dollars. Owing to this failure , Duddy runs away from the resort with shame, but Irwin (the one who swindles him) is forced to return the money. After he receives the money from Irwin, he is welcomed by Mr. Cohen, one of the guests, who along with other contributors has donated five hundred dollars to pay Duddy back. Here it is observed that Duddy has no moral values: Duddy rushed upstairs..... and did a few somersaults (Richler 92). He has just received eight hundred dollars in total. He goes from being a child and escaping from his problems, to a man with money. Duddy s ambitions are based off this childish greed. His greed drives his confidence and gives him an ego. When things do not go his way, he does not know where to turn and reverts to being greedy again. This affects other characters too, such as Virgil, who knows no better of Duddy and looks up to him as a guru. Unfortunately for Virgil, from the moment they met on the train, Duddy s intent was not to provide support to Virgil, but to cheat him and profit from his simple mindedness. From the moment, they meet, he takes any chance he gets to swindle Virgil. This is first seen when Virgil comes to Montreal. • 11. The History Of Medgar Evers And The Civil Rights Movement Revolution, a sudden, complete or marked change in something (Dictionary.com). The Civil Rights Movement sparked a reaction in the country. The idea of allowing African Americans full rights and privileges left white Americans to brutalize and discriminate. In 1954, Medgar Evers became the first state field secretary of the NAACP in Mississippi. He was a civil rights activist that fought to end the racial injustice he experienced growing up in the South. (Biography.com). He was later murdered by a member of the KKK, but died in the fight for freedom. It takes people to believe, to follow, and to start a revolution. Medgar Evers had a big role in the Civil Rights Movement. Evers also led demonstrations and economic boycotts of white owned companies that practiced discrimination . He stimulated a drive in others a part of NAACP to end intolerance and defeat injustice. (Biography.com). By Medgar and his proposition, he showed other African Americans light through hatred. Evers fought against discrimination to prove he can be just like the others. While he failed to gain admission to the law school, Evers managed to raise his profile with the NAACP. After working with the NAACP, he brought up a case to the Supreme Court Brown v. Board of Education case , which help end segregation issues throughout schools. (Biography.com). Often when we talk about culture and belonging, cultural identity is a large component which follows up the traditions, values and customs practised by a group. The most prominent concern there is with Hong Kong s political and social situation is the issue of independence, nationalism and identity. Hong Kong s political identity and struggle, although has extensive history, prevails today. The identity crisis began in the year 1997. On July 1st, Hong Kong was handed over back to the People s Republic of China (PRC); acquiring the title of being a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of the PRC. Art holds a much deeper and meaningful message, and is often used to reach out to the masses. Common examples are propaganda and protest. Sociological Analysis on Leadership Communication This paper will break down how leadership communication and leadership meetings play out sociologically. Within Banner leadership is made up through Bureaucracy, which within this company is made up of predominantly females. As you may imagine, leadership meetings are made up of many social statuses, roles, and leadership styles. The most sociologically interesting part is that the meeting is made of many different factors, yet throughout the entire meeting the group continued to have the corporate culture in mind, and always pushed towards the end goal in a way that would reflect the company s mission and vision statements. The social context of the meetings were always geared towards the development and growth in a large healthcare corporation. When the high level ranked employees would speak to implement new policies they took a more direct approach, which came across more stern. There was also a more open approach when there was open discussion to come up with solutions or ideas on ways to better enhance the company. With the open discussion it was much more enthusiastic and encouraging within the room. The people affected by leadership and their meetings are patients who are seen within Banner, and all of Banner s employees. Trends that can be seen throughout leadership and their meeting are bureaucracy, social status, roles, educational degree, teamwork, curiosity, and social integrations. • 17. Summer Camp Research Paper We need to return them better than they were given to us . It was drilled into our heads from day one of training, until the Friday of the final week. This was not a statement concerning a materialistic item, but something of infinitely greater value: the lives of children. You would not expect such a heavy responsibility from your employment at a summer camp. Everyday, we embarked on adventures that changed their perspectives on the world around them, just as the summer sunshine was changing the tone of their skin. It was hard to believe how much the kids had developed over the course of the summer, and it was even harder to comprehend how my interaction with their childhoods fostered such a departure from mine. Preparing for this job was not easy: a twenty hour training period was to be completed weeks before the beginning of camp. Delivered to us trainees from the voices of first hand witnesses, we were exposed to the horrors of child abuse and the gravity of our roles in preventing it. Aerodynamics consists of 4 variables, which is thrust, gravity, lift, and drag. Birds need aerodynamics so they can glide in the air so they can also gain enough speed to catch prey. Like a hawk swooping down 70 miles an hour to get a mouse to eat. Therefore, are need to improve education overall. First, the students being taught in the classes are based on technology. We already know how technology is carrying how students perform in education. But in education today kids and students are surrounded by it. When I was elementary or even middle school there was no such thing as an Ipad or a Chromebook. The school board is making students feel like it s a necessity to have in class everyday. I see kids at the age of 6 or 7 asking for their Ipad or chromebook for homework. I ask myself is this really how the school board wants to teach the future generation of students? Students are so used to using PowerPoint and Word at such a young age. Secondly, the lack of teachers and the lack of people who want to be teachers is creating problems. Teachers have been going on strike in different committees in the US. The most this class would know about is how Mchenry high schools teachers went on strike. There are various methods of modifying the concept of strip foundations to allow its use in other situations, for instance where some soil has a poor bearing capacity. This may be the case in wet ground, soft clay or filled ground, where the width of the strip foundation can be extended to spread the load over a larger area of soil. This will require the provision of reinforcement to the foundation in order to withstand tension and spread the load over a wider area. When a strip foundation is to be used on a sloping site the most economic solution is to use a stepped foundation which will reduce the amount of excavation, construction under ground, backfill and trench support. The provision of stepped foundations following the line of the ground requires each step to be between 150 and 225millimetres in order to accommodate brick or block courses. The lap of concrete at the step should be not less than the depth of the foundation concrete and never less than 300millimetres whichever is the greater.

Principles behind the Growth Process of Thin Films CHAPTER 2: BACKGROUND Deposition and characterization of the thin films discussed in Chapter 1 will require an understanding of many different tools and processes that are currently used in the semiconductor industry today. This chapter will cover the principles behind the growth process, the experimentation and the material properties. The equipment used for these processes will be discussed in depth as well. 2.1 Equipment The equipment used in the deposition of thin films can vary widely depending on what material is being grown. Different deposition techniques affect different material properties, such as: index of refraction, surface roughness, crystallinity, film quality and many others [VLSI, Seshan]. The two main techniques are physical vapor deposition (PVD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD). These techniques are used for different materials and different processes and CVD is the deposition technique this thesis focuses on. These techniques are implemented in different deposition systems with many different features and they have a wide range of applications. After the material is grown, the parameters of the material need to be characterized. This requires a complete understanding of the tools which are being operated. Joseph Von Faunhofer Research Paper Joseph von Fraunhofer was a German optician and physicist who discovered and influenced how astronomers view the dark line spectrum, the spectrum of the sun and the diffraction of light. On March 6, 1787 in Straubing, Bavaria, Joseph Ritter von Fraunhofer was born into a poor family where his father Franz Xaver Fraunhofer was a watch glass maker. At the age of 10, Joseph s mother, Maria Anna Frohlich passed away, and only a year after his father died. This left Fraunhofer orphaned and forced him to start working as an apprentice for a harsh lens maker named Philipp Anton Weichelsberger. This was appropriate because since the age of 10 Joseph was already working in his family s workshop. Weichelsberger used Fraunhofer primarily as slave labor, often driving him to near starvation and exhaustion. However, on July 21, 1801, the workshop in which Fraunhofer was working in collapsed. Mark Twain a famous poet once quoted, The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read and I personally think this is important because I believe that the more experience that you may have in reading or just anything else, the more experience you will have means the more knowledge you have, this is significant because if you can read or hear and you choose not to listen to music or read, you are only hurting yourself because you will have no advantages over anyone. . • 42. The Movie Glory Road The movie Glory Road (2006) is about the true story of how Texas Western University defeated all odds to win the 1966 College Basketball National Championship. Not only were the tiny Texas Western Miners able to take down the heavily favored powerhouse, the Kentucky Wildcats, they ended a stigma. Texas Western University won the NCAA Championship with the first ever all African American starting line up, a feat that was thought to never be possible to attain. Newly named Coach Don Haskins looked past color barriers, racism, and focused on the basketball to succeed. He not only played an integrated team, but was found success on the biggest of stages with them. Coach Haskins and his team became a beacon of hope for not only African Americans, but to underdogs of all sorts. With all the motivation that arose from this story for African American s and others, it was an easy decision to make it into a movie. While other African American players had played college basketball, it was unheard of to have more than two or three on the entire squad. However, Coach Don Haskins recruits seven African American young men to Texas Western, and is ridiculed for it. The recruiting of African American players in the 1960 s is described as a sensation and a scandal (Scott, Movie Minutes, 2006). While Coach Haskins does not recruit the African American players for show or to make a statement, he does just that. One of the main aspects on why Glory Road can be critically acclaimed and be such an inspirational sports movie is because the recruitment and playing of seven African American players was one of the biggest breakthroughs in breaking the color barrier in collegiate ... Give me THREE ways in which an adult can facilitate a child s language acquisition (acquire new and increase language vocabulary). There are many ways which an adult can facilitate a child s language acquisition (acquire new and increase language vocabulary). Here is some of them: 1. Engaging in conversations with children. Communication is the first and most accessible way to facilitate child s language acquisition and increasing language vocabulary. 2. Reading books multiple times. During the repeated reading, repetition and gradual memorization and mastering of the most important components of the language functions occur. 3. Giving descriptions of objects. Explanations of words, activities or events. Open questions. All these ways are help to acquire new words and increase language vocabulary for the children in everyday life. 2) Select ONE age group (infants, toddlers, pre school). Give me ONE literacy activity and tell me WHY you believe it is developmentally appropriate. I chose toddlers age (16 36 months). As one of the best literacy activity adults can use be rhymes and songs, and encourage the child about it (during play, circle transition times). I believe it is developmentally appropriate since children learn many sounds and words through songs and nursery rhymes. • 44. Home Loans And Bear Stearns ( Jpmorgan Chase Bank I was unlucky enough to be front and center working for a homebuilder at the time of the real estate crisis. The mindset of sellers, realtors and mortgage brokers before the bubble burst was something that was very obvious to me as a lack of care for the long term homeowners and their financial welfare. While the banks like Countrywide Home Loans and Bear Stearns (JPMorgan Chase Bank) were making billions of dollars on mortgages, they were ridiculous in thinking that this would not come back on them tenfold. How can you purchase a loan and approve it through underwriting without first verifying the documents were accurate? How could I get a home loan when I was 21 and had a credit score of 1? Well, this definitely happened. I had a cosigner, of course, but still, the qualifying standards back in 2005 were relaxed to a fault. I liked to think that I was responsible enough to have this investment in a property to call my own, but we bought at the height of market in Orlando, and only gained in equity for about 6 months. In 2007, our house was worth $40,000.00 less than what we purchased it for. My home in Orlando was a $1,300.00 monthly mortgage that I thought I could afford with help from roommates, but quickly found this to be too daunting. I ended up moving out, and thankfully rented until this year. We finally found a buyer for the house this year, without having to bring any money to closing. This is ten years of mortgage payments later. All thanks to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Age Of Exploration By Christopher Columbus The fifteenth to seventeenth century is known as the Age of Exploration . Europe began to colonize the countries they had discovered . A major part of the world that they colonized was Latin America. Spain was the first to colonize, and the United States started to take interest in Latin America towards the 19th century. Europe and The United States both took interest in Latin America, but for different reasons. Spain was the first European nation to colonize Latin America, beginning with Christopher Columbus voyage in 1492. Columbus conquered Hispaniola, an island in the Caribbean Sea. A few decades later, Spain sent Hernando Cortez to conquer the Aztec Empire in 1519. In 1535, the Spanish moved deeper into South America and conquered the Incan Empire with the help of Francisco Pizarro. When Europeans explored the world during the Age of Exploration , they colonized areas for a number of reasons. One reason was to spread Christianity. The Spaniards believed it was their God given duty to convert people to Christianity. A second reason was to acquire wealth through trade and exploitation of other countries peoples and natural resources. Colonizing and acquiring the land in Latin America also led to an increase in geopolitical power over other European countries. The setting, theme, and some individual parts but also including the feel it gives to the audience is very different from one another. A big, main eye catching difference is the settings. • 48. Clavichord Research Paper The pipe organ, clavichord, and harpsichord are considered as the earliest keyboard instrument. The hydraulis organ is the oldest kind of pipe organ, appearing in the third century BC. It was not a keyboard in the modern sense. From its invention until the 14th century, the organ remained the only keyboard instrument. Clavichord and the harpsichord appeared during the 14th century. The clavichord probably appeared earlier than the harpsichord. The harpsichord and clavichord were both common until the appearance of the piano in the 18th century, after which their popularity decreased. The Clavichord is a European stringed keyboard instrument known from the late Medieval, through the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical eras. The Clavichord was mostly used as a practice instrument and as an instrument for composition, because the instrument itself was not loud enough for larger performance. The clavichord produces sound by striking brass or iron strings with small metal blades called tangents. It allowed the strings to continue vibrating as long as the key was depressed. Thus, players had more control over the volume of their instrument. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Italian harpsichord is a single manual instrument with a very light construction and relatively little string tension. Towards the end of the historical period larger and more elaborate Italian instruments were built, notably by Bartolomeo Cristofori, who later invented the piano. The amount is increasing, but the problem is the popularity of the move is decreasing. School uniforms hinder students and parent more than they actually help. A Brooklyn Park Charter School sent some kids home for wearing the wrong uniform. Two brothers were sent home early on their first day of school for not having the correct uniforms in Brooklyn Park on Tuesday. The children wore the same outfit to school that they wore last year, which school leaders allowed at the time. Abstract This study was done to look at the effects of fertilisers and identify which fertiliser produced the fastest results. Four types of fertilisers were used over a four week period and the findings were that inorganic fertilisers enhanced seed germination rates. 2. Introduction Fertilisers are widely used in agricultural production because they contain essential compounds such as phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium that have been depleted from most Australian soil. The phosphorus is responsible for the development of the plants, providing healthy growth and strong roots. Nitrogen furnishes a major component of chlorophyll where it s known for its ability to grow green leaves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Discussion Seaweed and Miracle Growth fertilisers did give the fastest results, indicating that plants treated with inorganic fertiliser s respond quickly. As the liquefied fertilisers directly seeps into the soil and reaches the roots, plants are able to easily absorb the nutrients that they needed for growth. However, organic fertilisers need to break down in the soil first which may potentially take time before reaching the roots. (2) A pattern was identified that related the form of the fertiliser to the results obtained. Seaweed fertiliser is a liquefied solution where the components have been mixed and dissolved before hand. By sending the nutrients directly to the roots, it can focus on nourishing the ... • 51. The Sun As A Medium Sized Star Measuring The Earth A rianna Duval Mrs. Kent English 8th 2 February 2015 The Sun The sun is actually a star just like the stars that shine throughout the night. The sun is a medium sized star measuring 864,948mi (1,392,000km) across 100 times the diameter of the earth (Farndon 47). The core, the convection zone, and the photosphere are four main layers of the sun. The core makes energy from hydrogen for the world s sight (Elvis 12). About 99 percent of the energy generated by the sun through nuclear fusion is produced in its core (Koehler 14). Photons transport energy generated in the sun s core. This movement from the sun s core is not instant, in fact, it can take up to 150,000 years for energy to reach the photosphere. From the photosphere, energy generated in the core streams into the sun s atmosphere and out into space. This energy that lights and heats the earth (14). The secret of the sun s power lies in its center, or core. Core temperatures reach more than 27 million degrees Fahrenheit (in Celsius it reaches up to 15 million degrees). The plasma is about 150 times denser than water (Koehler 14). Under a massive amount of pressure heat and burning happens (Jefferis 10). During the heat and burning process, particles of hydrogen join together, or fuse to make hydrogen. While this is happening, energy is being given off. It is this power that provides the sun s heat and light. Further out, the core heats layers of gas in the convection zone. Last, energy reaches the surface of the sun ...
