TRADER JOE S
Description:
Trader Joe s has become a multi billion dollar national chain partly through its ability to find cheap
real estate, skip name brands and smartly manage its supply chain. It s also due to its workforce
management practices. Below, excerpts from a book Trader Joe s Adventure, review the company s
management compensation, encouragement of multitasking, screening and wages, careful use of
money, fun culture, sense that its people are its brand, and communication style.
Learning Objective:
Our focus with this case is on immersing students in the fundamentals of organizational culture.
Organizational culture is defined as a complex set of shared beliefs, guiding values, behavioral norms,

Without question, all of these things are an essential part of what makes Trader Joe s such a thriving
retailer when much larger chains are struggling to survive. But there s a saying in retail circles that the
last 100 feet are the hardest. Every effort can be made to heighten the efficiency of the supply chain
and get products from the manufacturer to the retailer s back door in the most cost effective way
possible. Yet, if in store execution is shoddy, retailers simply end up shooting themselves in the foot. A
big part of this execution or the last 100 feet at Trader Joe s is its employees, people who like what
they do, go out of their way to help customers, and even engage in some suggestive selling. They are a
major reason for the company s success. After all, few employers particularly in retailing can boast of
having such high levels of employee loyalty, not to mention extremely low turnover.
Compensate workers well The core of this allegiance is a wage and benefits package that is typically
far more competitive than that of most companies in the supermarket industry. Wages may attract high
quality employees, but wages are not necessarily the reason they remain loyal, as any human resources
expert can attest. Employees stay because Trader Joe s has created a culture of success: an

How Does Ray Bradbury Use Light And Dark In Fahrenheit 451
Title
In Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451, he uses light and dark as contrasts is used as a motif to help further
develop differences between people in society through characterization and plot. Light symbolizes
knowledge and purity; on the other hand, darkness shows ignorance in the society, while also being a
form of safety. Bradbury uses light versus dark to compare purity and ignorance through
characterization. Before Montag found the value behind books, he would come home from his job of
burning books. The first night of meeting Clarisse while walking home from work, he describes her
face as a fragile milk crystal with a soft and constant light in it. It was not a hysterical light of
electricity but what? But the strangely comfortable

I Can t Determine First Time I Ever Felt Shame
I can t determine first time I ever felt shame, nor am I certain that I want to remember. The thought of
even discussing shame makes me feel quite vulnerable and uncomfortable, but, upon deeper
reflection, I can conclude that shame has almost always been an integral part of my character. This
same reflection also causes my mind to race towards the p word: perfection. Dr. Brené Brown stated in
her lecture that this attitude of feeling shame from an inability to reach an ideal existence is commonly
found in women, but it is in this manner that I feel I most commonly interact with shame
(www.ted.com). To make matters worse, I have consistently bottled this shame up within myself and
have not communicated or acknowledged its existence. By so doing I have allowed shame to flourish
within me. Dr. Brown added that shame, needs three things to grow exponentially: secrecy, silence,
and judgment. Without knowing it, I have been effectively growing my own shame over the past
twenty years. I personally desire to kill shame at its very roots in my mind now that its existence has
been made known. Examining perfection could be the place to begin my quest to eliminate shame.
Perfection for me has presented itself as a persistent need to properly meet or surpass expectations.
There are always expectations that a person must live up to, and they may come from internal or
external sources. These expectations can vary between cultures, but they are always present. I have
realized that I

The Story Map Of Home
The story Map of Home gives insight into the lives of a family that has been pushed out of their home
that now must travel to different country s as refugees. One of the points of conflict in the book is
based on the us vs them dichotomy which is based on the notion of fear of others and fear of reaction.
This situation has caused a fracture between the refugees and the country s taking them in. In this
paper one will also see how this conflict relates the situation in
Paris and also argue the position of whether it is right to justify action based on fear. This is
problematic because this process deems ignorance, fear and pride as an acceptable way of approaching
a situation when it should be approached with kindness, and respect ... Show more content on

The attack has fractured the relationship between nations and refuges which has caused a dire problem
for [refugees] a person who flees for refuge or safety, especially to a foreign country, as in time of

refugees based on the notion of fear and what if.
For example, What if we get bomb or threatened? What if the refuges are terrorist? This notion is
based on fear and fear of others, which instills a fear of rejection to those looking for help. The most
difficult part about this conflict is that the questions being asked are important to the security of the
country. Most of the people that are refugees are running away from the same terrorist group that
attacked Paris. When we react with an emotion reaction like fear and enclose oneself from the
problem we are rejecting the refugees and we are falling in to the us vs, them dichotomy. [Dichotomy]

How Values And Values Have Affected My Life
From the beginning of time, ancient philosophers and educators have taught different life
developmental skills to aid people as they grow. Those educators often taught students how to develop
ethical and moral character. With teaching those characteristics as a foundation they were able to teach
students to branch out and understand a deeper meaning of authenticity, virtue and value. All three of
these concepts are required to live a meaningful and balanced life in both the physical, mental and
spiritual realms. I will be discussing how authenticity, virtue and values have affected my life, along
with how they affect my future. Secondly, I will be discussing how these principles have helped guide
me through my life. Values, authenticity, and virtues have an effect on a person from the time they
were born and as they continue to age. Authenticity almost has a royal name to where it must be
respected and bowed to without question. In my book that is exactly how I think of being authentic; it
is being real and genuine without any deception. I could not think of a better way to work,
communicate, love, or develop any type of relationship with unless they were honest and real.
Deception and liars are not people I set out to communicate with. I feel bad for the people who feel
that they must deceive or hide who they are because being you is much easier. Authenticity shapes my
life because I am able to be genuine when working with others in my work environment. According to

Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) Essays
Introduction
In July of 2002, Congress swiftly passed the Public Company Accounting Reform and Investors
Protection Act at the time when corporations like Arthur Anderson, Enron and WorldCom fell due to
fraudulent accounting practices and bad internal control. This bill, sponsored by Mike Oxley (R OH)
and Paul Sarbanes (D MD), became known as Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX).It sought to restore public
confidence in publicly traded companies and their accounting practices, though the companies listed
above were prosecuted on laws that were already in place before SOX. Many studies have examined
the effects of SOX on corporations in the past eleven years. The benefits are hard to quantify and the
cost are rather hard to estimate including the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In terms of increasing independent directors in corporate governance, SOX directed the Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC) to adopt rules that prohibit listings of companies that did not have an
audit committee. The audit committee must consist of independent directors, and if the committee is in
place but did not have enough independent directors, it must add more independent directors to the
board. In addition, at least one of the directors must be a financial expert as defined by the SEC.
As for the liability of officers and directors, SOX expanded the scope of their legal obligation by
increasing penalties for violating securities law and creating new crimes for certain acts which
included securities fraud, obstruction of justice, and false certification of financial statements. This
part of the SOX act actually modified the current laws that had been in place by increasing the
penalties associated with civil and criminal violation of securities law. It also requires that all
compensation in terms of bonus or incentive based compensation and profit that is earned by
executive officers be returned to the company if these laws are violated.
To increase the disclosure requirement of publicly traded firms, the SEC requires that firms with a
market value of $75 million or have to include a management assessment on the effectiveness of

The Effects Of Osteoporosis On The Bone Disease
The Effects of Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much
bone, too little bone, or both. Because of this, bones become weak and may break from a fall, or
worse, break from sneezing or minor bumps (National Osteoporosis Foundation). Osteoporosis means
porous bone . A healthy bone under a microscope looks like a honeycomb, when osteoporosis is taking
place, the holes and spaces in the honeycomb are much larger than in the healthy bone. Bones that are
osteoporotic have lost density, and contain abnormal tissue structure. When bones lose this density,
they weaken and are more likely to break. Osteoporosis is often called a silent disease because one can

Smoking can lead to lower bone density, and higher risk of fracture, and this risk increases with age.
Over four units of alcohol a day can double the risk of a hip fracture. The risk of vertebral and hip
fractures in men increases greatly with heavy alcohol intake, particularly with long term intake. Low
body weight and weight loss is associated with greater bone loss and increased risk of fracture. Some
young females, particularly those training for elite athletic competitions, exercise too much, eat too
little, and consequently experience amenorrhea, which makes them at risk for low bone mass and
fractures. Middle aged and older men and women with annual height loss 0.5 cm is at an increased
risk of hip and any other fractures. Falls contribute to fractures ninety percent of hip fractures result
from falls. A third of people over age sixty five fall annually, with approximately ten to fifteen percent
of falls in the elderly resulting in fractures. Almost sixty percent of those who fell the previous year,
will fall again. Use of anxiolytics, sedatives, neuroleptics, and antidepressants has been shown to

Druids Essay
DRUIDS
Who were the Druids?
The stereotypical image of a Druid is one of a thoughtful philosopher and magician, schooled in the
lore of the traditions, and in charge of the education of the chieftains as well as those who sought to
obtain knowledge considered obscure by the rest of society. They were knowers of truth, able to
manipulate that truth as well as inform others of it. Druids not only influenced society religiously, they
also influenced it socially i.e. they took on the parts of teachers, judges, magicians, craftsmen,
advisors, priests, and masters of ceremonies, and in doing so, were greatly respected in society.

Mistletoe is, however, very rarely found, and when found, it is gathered with great ceremony and
especially on the sixth day of the moon... They prepare a ritual sacrifice and feast under the tree, and
lead up two white bulls whose horns are bound for the first time on this occasion. A priest attired in a
white vestment ascends the tree and with a golden pruning hook cuts the mistletoe which is caught in
a white cloth. Then next they sacrifice the bulls praying that the gods will make their gifts propitious
to those to whom they have given it. They believe that if given in drink the mistletoe will give
fecundity to any barren animal, and that it is predominant against all poisons. quot;
Pliny the Elder was a Roman scholar and as a result, may have been prejudiced against Celts, however
not to the extent of Julius Caesar. Because this extract was from Natural History, a writing which was

accurate information to the readers. Pliny also lived from AD23 AD79, a time in which the Celts also
existed, increasing the reliability of this source.
Skilled Craftsmen
Druids had knowledge of bronze, iron, and other metals, which was passed on to the Celtic people.
Celtic coins often featured pictures of horses, boars and ears of wheat. Many other Celtic artefacts

Mankind is one of the biggest races on the Earth and with that many people, there are bound to be
many mistakes. By far one of the biggest mistakes of humanity has been nuclear war and nuclear
weapons. Even after copious amounts of death and destruction, mankind continues to threaten each
other with these weapons of horrid violence. Some of the most notable bombings in history are the
bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Now things like this may happen in the future. On
August 6, 1945 the United States of America dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, resulting in the
end of World War II, as stated in Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, by history.com. Though it did
end Word War II, it still did a considerable amount of other damage in the world. One of the biggest
things that came out of this bomb was the destruction of the Earth. It destroyed the 90 percent of the
city and if a citizen could have survived that, they would have died due to the radiation to come. Then
on August 9, 1945 United States of America dropped an atomic bomb on the city Nagasaki killing
thousands and destroyed over 60 percent of the cities buildings, creating more radiation to kill
thousands more. Though these bombings did stop World War II, they ... Show more content on

The Beauty Of My Dreams

along with finding a sense of my self worth have been a struggle of mine for the majority of my life.
There have been many trials and errors, but feeling beautiful and finding my self worth have been
beginning to clear up. This was when I met my fiancé, my best friend and soul mate, Jacob. Meeting
Jacob, going to college, and furthering my life with him have helped me experience gain my self
worth over time. Meeting Jacob has changed my life tremendously. We are the kind of couple that you
would never expect to be together. When Jacob walked into my life I was in the darkest and lowest
point in my life. All of the friends I thought I had turned into acquaintances. At the time I doubted
myself and my career as a hair stylist. The day I met Jacob, everything changed. He wanted to be my
friend even though I pushed him away. I felt as if the friends I had did not want to pull me out of my
dark place, and then he would not be the one to do it. I assumed he would give up like all of my other
friends had. Jacob did the impossible; he opened me up and befriended me. Financially, I have been
struggling for quite some time. After only knowing each other for one short month, I asked him to
move in with me. Asking Jacob to move in was one of the best questions I have ever asked someone
before. We were friends at first, we then became best friends, and after less than a month of him

automobiles have influenced the world in a huge way. It saved people a lot of energy, time and money.
Motorized wagons replaced horse carriages and within a few decades Ford started making affordable
models of cars with higher efficiency, which revolutionized the concept of transportation. The first

efficient fuel sources were invented. The present day cars run on petrol (gasoline), diesel, and

However the anti knocking properties of diesel is measured by its cetane number. The cetane number
is the measurement of the anti knocking and the combustion quality of diesel. It is the equivalent of
octane number for gasoline. The average value of cetane number for a diesel fuel ranges from 42 to 45
but for premium diesel cetane number can be up to 60. Another important property of fuels is the
calorific value. The calorific value is the amount of heat or energy produced when the fuel is
combusted. Therefore the calorific value determines the output power produced by the fuel. It is either
measured as either gross calorific value or net calorific value. The most commonly method of
comparing calorific values of fuels is net calorific value. The net calorific value of gasoline is 44400
KJ/Kg. This means that 44400 kilojoules of energy is produced for every kilogram of fuel burnt. In
comparison, the calorific value of diesel is 43400 (Bureau of Energy efficiency, p.4). The calorific
value of diesel is lower than the calorific value of gasoline and hence gasoline has a higher output
power than diesel. The output power is one of the most important factors on which efficiency is
dependent. Hence it can be said that the efficiency if petrol is higher than that of diesel. Since early
20th century the popularity of electric vehicles have been raising. Electric cars were prevalent in early

A Brief Note On Germ Free Water And The Ganges River
The Ganges River is 1,560 miles long, this river runs through about 48 towns. the ganges river flows
through China, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The Ganges river basin is one of the most fertile and
densely populated in the world and covers an area of 400 000 sq miles (1 000 000 sq km). Hindus
respect the Ganges river with the holiest of regards. This holy river was named after the goddess
Ganga, who is believed to be the daughter of the mountain god Himalaya. now, think about all the
people in those towns and just how many of them have to drink this holy water. the ganges is home to
the hindu who believe it is a spiritual cleansing waters, they call it the holy river.
We are proposing cleaner water. there is a way to have this cleaner water if you want it, we can help.
we will make things better. We propose water tanks filled with germ free water. to start, there will be

Probability and Measures of Central Tendency
Probability Measures of Central Tendency Part 1 The data collected for this paper will be the number
of minutes spent on the commute to school each day for a ten day period. The commute is generally
between 20 and 30 minutes, though traffic problems, particularly accidents, can greatly increase the
time for the commute. Minutes Per Day Spent on Commuting EMBED Excel.Sheet.12 Part II Using
the data you have collected in above, please do the following: Calculate the mean, median, and mode.
The mean is the number many people refer to as the arithmetic average. It is the sum of the results
divided by the total number of data points collected. The mean is:
(23+23+27+22+19+30+32+23+24+47)/10 = 27 The median is the number in the middle of a
distribution, once that distribution has been placed in ascending or descending order. In ascending
order, the results are: 19, 22, 23, 23, 23, 24, 27, 30, 32, 47. Because 10 is an even number, the median
is the mean of the two middle numbers. The two middle numbers are 23 and 24. Therefore, the median
is 23.5. The mode is the number occurring most frequently in the distribution. The results are: 19, 22,
23, 23, 23, 24, 27, 30, 32, 47. Therefore, the mode is 23. Are these numbers higher or lower than you
would have expected? The numbers are what I expected. Which of these measures of central tendency

Essay on Kierkegaard and Wittgenstein
Kierkegaard and Wittgenstein
The connections between Ludwig Wittgenstein and Soren Kierkegaard as philosophers are not at all
immediately obvious. On the surface, Wittgenstein deals with matters concerning the incorrect use of
philosophical language and Kierkegaard focuses almost exclusively on answering the question how to
become a Christian . But this account belies deeper structural similarities between these men s
important works. Thus, this paper suggests that their methods, rather than exclusively content, contain
a strong parallel on which a natural and hopefully fruitful examination of their work can be based. I
claim that on at least four counts, Kierkegaard and Wittgenstein present clearly analogous form:

Kierkegaard s works are not straightforward proclamations of his philosophy: he wrote under
pseudonyms and assumed the persona of these fictional characters in his writing. Thus, one must be
careful when attributing a particular position to Kierkegaard often the view is advanced by a
pseudonym, so various inferential processes must be applied in order to substantiate a claim that
Kierkegaard really meant any statement. Foremost among the structural similarities between
Kierkegaard and Wittgenstein works is the use of indirect communication: as paradoxical as it may
sound, both authors deliberately obfuscate their philosophy for the purposes of clarifying it.
Clarification of the preceding assertion is obviously required. Each author felt that, due to inherent
properties of their subject matter, outright delineation of their conclusions would somehow be a self
contradiction. Clearly their respective subject matter, the logical structure of language and the task of
becoming a Christian, is inherently disparate. But let us examine more closely particular instances of
indirect communication from both of the philosophers with the intention of finding similarity.

Social Class Reflection Paper
Before this class I always viewed sport as a sanctuary for everyone regardless of their race, social
class, and gender as something they can do together. That once everyone was on the field or at the
game, we were all the same. I believed that it was an activity that did not have a political influence
and it was purely for entertainment. While I still believe some of that is true, this class has challenged
my view point by forcing me to view sports through a different lens. As students, we tend to look at
everyday activities through our personal experiences and assume that everyone else around us is
experiencing them the same way. We tend to overlook the truth because we are uncomfortable
admitting that things such as discrimination, and sexism still happen in today s world.
More specifically, I was challenged to look at my life experiences in three different categories. These
categories include the effect of neoliberalism on today s society, my social class, and my race.
Through these three categories, I was able to pull out the differences between my own life and the
lives of others. By viewing the same experience through another person s eyes, I noticed the extreme
differences that they are going through because of the influence from society.
In the following paper, I will mention how the effect of neoliberalism has influenced the way myself
and others view and experience a sporting experience, how my social class standing has structured
what sports I had access to and

The New Features Of Windows Server 2012
After reviewing the requirements of the GAI and taking into consideration the infrastructure that is
already in place I have created a proposal that should meet the requirements of the organization needs.
Some of the new features of Windows Server 2012 that I will be utilizing in order to ensure the
organization needs are met will be the Work Folders and Direct Access feature for the users that will
be utilizing the remote sites. The Hyper V, Storage Tiering and DHCP for fault tolerance, IP
availability which I will be going further in depth during the proposal. For the deployment of the
Servers in the organization I felt 3 physical servers at a minimum would be best in terms of ensuring
all the users have access to the same services. Two servers will act as a main server will be located at
the Los Angeles site while one will be located at the New York site the third server will act up as a
backup for the two in the event of one failing and will be located at the Los Angeles location. I will be
installing the Server 2012 Datacenter edition for flexibility and scalability the servers will not have
Server Core installed but will be set up for the desk top experience. Which include the GUI to ensure
that the incoming technicians will have ease of use when maneuvering around the services on the
servers. Also each server will mirror the other as far as roles and features so as not to cause future
conflicts. Considering the size of the organization right now which consist of

Your State Community College Case Study
Originally many schools, including some post secondary colleges, were designed as factories to train
workers (Ackoff Greenberg, 2008). With a focus on reading, writing, and arithmetic, individuals
gained skills needed to complete robotic instructions, but unfortunately, not problem solving
techniques. This concept is still present in many of our schooling systems today including some of
classes and graduation tracks at Your State Community College (YSCC). Founded in 1968, YSCC
serves about 6,000 students preparing them for jobs in both academic and trade careers. Unfortunately,
many of the students who enter the school do not score high enough on the placement examination

Most of the students who take remedial courses spend at least two additional semesters in college to
finish the coursework and over 47% of these students are not able to complete the required Math or
English coursework sequence. It is the duty of the leaders at YSCC to get beyond the coursework and
develop a plan to help all students succeed. To be successful with this change, the Dean of Academic
Affairs must be able to connect with the values, beliefs, and anxieties of the people (Heifetz, Grashow,
Linsky, 2009, p. 38). One of the most important processes will involve the Dean educating the entire
campus community about the need for change. He will need to use concepts from Scharmer and Senge
(2016), and teach all stakeholders to stop downloading and shut down the voice of judgement to be
able to view this problem and solution with a new set of eyes. Furthermore, he will need everyone to
be open to change and open their heart, mind, and will for the success of this project.
In addition to connecting with all factors, the plan will include the leader becoming the change agent
and motivating the masses together (Fullan, 2011). The Dean of Academic Affairs will exemplify the
curiosity, inquiry skills, and scholarly competencies need to investigate an idea and transform it into
meaningful action (Drexel University EdD Keystone 5, 2017). The plan will met be with resistance

Project Management Wembley
A. Project Background
i.
Project Description
The aim of the Wembley Stadium project was to build a new 90,000 seat state of art stadium. The new
stadium was going to be used for a variety of functions ranging from football and rugby matches to
concerts and private events. The stadium was to have a 50 year design life, and be both functional and
architecturally significant. In addition, it was essential that the stadium allowed as much daylight and
ventilation to reach the pitch as possible. A main goal was to have the build achieve UEFA five star
stadium status. The project was to be funded by a combination of state (National Lottery Fund) and
private investment.

B. Reasons for Project Failure
i.
The new Wembley stadium was completed in 2007 five years late, £360m over budget, and
surrounded by legal disputes. Before we perform our analysis, we would like to highlight some of the
facts that lead to failure.
Design
Multiplex argued that Mott MacDonald s design for the Wembley steel work was not fit for purpose
and that the initial designs were not correct, constructible, coordinated and consistent. In other words,
although the design looked good, it was very challenging and maybe impossible to replicate to scale.
Scope Changes
The initial scope was to include football, rugby, and athletics in the same stadium. This later became
very controversial and resulted in the removal of athletics from the design in 1999, because of the
technical and commercial challenges of accommodating three sports within the same stadium. In
2001, the scope was further changed with the removal of a hotel from the project, the expansion of
hospitality suites, and considerably changes to the north side of the stadium. These changes took Mott
MacDonald an additional 8 months to redesign.
Contracting
There was no formal bidding process. In addition, it appeared that not all bidders were treated equally.
This can be seen when the bidding process was opened back up after the contractors were narrowed
down to

Cost Control in Health Maintenance Organizations Essay
An HMO is an organized health care delivery system, which provides health care to its members
through networks of doctors and hospitals. Rather than traditional health plans, HMO s cost less. Two
ways HMO s control costs are: controlling hospital admission and length of stay, and by providing
incentives to physicians. These two cost control methods are further examined by an article published
by The National Bureau of Economic Research (2002). The article examines the incentives to
physician strategy for reducing utilization cost. The Physician Guide to Managed Care (1994)

Bonus levels are determined on the basis of performance, as performance improves the bonuses
gradually become higher. HMO s rely on rates and member satisfaction survey results to measure
provider performance. By keeping a certain level of member satisfaction, more revenue can be

Financial incentives are generally more influential when it comes to physicians improving quality of
care. According to the National Research Council (2001), research regarding payment and quality
improvement efforts of health care administrators was presented at an Institute of Medicine Workshop
in April of 2004. The research showed ,with the use of physician incentives the total direct savings in
health care cost which include reduce visits and hospital episodes was an estimated net savings of
about 2,000 per patient. For more than 13,000 diabetic patients managed by a physician group it was
projected that the savings had the potential to generate over $10 million in net saving per year.
Aligning financial incentives with physician s networks provides the achievement of better patient
outcomes, but generally provides the HMO cost control over their equity.

control. According to Nash (1994), in order to minimize hospital length of stay, the HMO arranges in

Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Follows Upon The...
An elegy, a poem written in honor of a deceased. It mourns the death of an individual through looking
at the bright side. It can release stress because of all the emotions that could not be held in anymore.
This can be clearly portrayed in Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of
Our House and Thomas Gray s Elegy Written in Country Churchyard. Both of the writers have
feelings of depression. The writers bring up subtle comparisons between the poem and themselves.
The arising themes remain constant through spirituality. In both of the stories, there is an identified
preposition of melancholy, potential, and spirituality.
To start off with the poem Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House, Anne
Bradstreet sets up the tone of sadness and says that she was awakened by a noise, a voice screaming
fire and how heartbreaking it was to lose her home and possessions (Elegy 178). Bradstreet describes
how her home looks after the incident. Her and her family have to start all over again. Bradstreet feels
like everything has been taken away from her and will not be able to move on in line. She is having
feelings of melancholy. Consequently, Bradstreet has an epiphany and says, Adieu, adieu, all s vanity
(Elegy 179). This means that she is saying all her possessions are worthless. This is a turning point in
Bradstreet s life that she was gifted with. She now sees how her ambition, potential, and hope can

The amount of filtration done by the kidneys will obviously cause negative effects throughout the
body if they are not functioning properly. CKD will cause the body to retain many excess fluids and
waste that are normally filtered out to prevent internal harm throughout the body. With kidney disease
there will be a rise in blood pressure due to the amount of extra fluid that is retained in the blood
vessels. This fluid retention will cause the passageways to become narrow and make blood passage
through the vessels increasingly difficult, in turn causing an increase in blood pressure. There will also
be an increase in protein and blood found in the urine because it is not filtered out properly by the
kidneys. Swelling will occur in the extremities and around the eyes because of the fluid retention as
well. The longer the urine goes unfiltered the harder it may become to urinate due to pain or blockage
or there may be more frequent night time urination (The National Kidney Foundation, 12). There are
also a few tests that will show whether or not the kidneys are filtering the body s fluids as they should.
A simple urinalysis can be done to detect protein or blood in the urine. This will alert the medical
professionals to a possible problem with the proper functioning of the kidneys. There are also Blood

The Other Family By Himani Bannerji
Individuals should learn to accept themselves for who they are, not what society wants them to accept.
As we continue to evolve, we build up our own characters, and they are typically a mix of the
ethnicity and culture we inherit from our family, various encounters in our life, distinctive identity and
personality we have. Our character and identity is not something that we get easily, it s an intricate
process. The story The Other Family by Himani Bannerji is based on a mother and a daughter who
immigrates to Canada. They belong to a black family, but after the immigration they are living in the
dominance of the white society. The school is considered as the hegemony of Canada and teacher is
considered as the mainstream, it is a sort of social institution that a hegemony shape but they does not
know the awareness of marginalized groups. The mother feels anxious when she sees a drawing of a
white family by her daughter. It was the misperceptions of the kid that lead to forget her identity or
she was too small to identify it. So to examine about the identity of the marginalized individual the
beginning is to focus on the quality of the education. It is necessary for every school system to teach
equality and inclusions of every group status so that the marginalized group are not left isolated from
the society. Secondly, the fear of the marginalized parents from losing their kids in the mainstream
society shows their lack of confidence in their own cultural pride. Since

24 Hour Emergency Service
One of the greatest benefits of hiring a master locksmith is they offer 24 hour emergency service. No
one can predict when they are going to be accidentally locked out of their car or home, and it may
happen at a notably inconvenient hour. As such, the ability to have 24 hour emergency care is of

quality can be easily compromised and bypassed. In order to have the highest levels of safety and
security, a master locksmith is the solution.
Locksmiths Can Evaluate the Condition of a Lock
Master locksmiths can do more than just get you back into your car or home and install new locks.
They can also professionally evaluate the condition of your current lock and scan for damage or any

Comparing The Methods Using Products And Services
M2: Compare the methods used to distribute products and services.
For M2, I will compare the different distribution channel for two different product which is food and
clothing. I will examine how retailer distribute food and clothing and what s required to ensure the
product is at good condition before it reach to customers.
Food
The distribution of food is different from clothing as suppliers will need to bear in mind how to
appropriately handle food products, example, and health inspection in storage room to avoid
transmissible disease. The food distribution is short to ensure that the food is fresh and will not go out
of date. This is why many food retailer like Tesco mainly source their product in UK than overseas.
Food like fruits are perishable therefore retailers need to take in consideration to how they will handle
the product, transport they are going to use, preservation of product and how it s going to be packaged
before they sell it to customers. Perishable food like fresh strawberries or frozen food are both time
and temperature sensitive. This is why business like Tesco usually temperature in their storage room is
at optimum temperature range to maintain quality and freshness of the food like fresh strawberries.
On the other hand, Tesco also packaged their food like fresh strawberries in a plastic container to
ensure that it s not going to smash. This also enables customers to purchase the product easier as the
fruit is already packaged for them.

It s also due to its workforce management practices. Below, excerpts from a book Trader Joe s Adventure, review the company s management compensation, encouragement of multitasking, screening and wages, careful use of money, fun culture, sense that its people are its brand, and communication style. Without question, all of these things are an essential part of what makes Trader Joe s such a thriving retailer when much larger chains are struggling to survive. But there s a saying in retail circles that the last 100 feet are the hardest. Every effort can be made to heighten the efficiency of the supply chain and get products from the manufacturer to the retailer s back door in the most cost effective way possible. Yet, if in store execution is shoddy, retailers simply end up shooting themselves in the foot. A big part of this execution or the last 100 feet at Trader Joe s is its employees, people who like what they do, go out of their way to help customers, and even engage in some suggestive selling. They are a major reason for the company s success. After all, few employers particularly in retailing can boast of having such high levels of employee loyalty, not to mention extremely low turnover. Compensate workers well The core of this allegiance is a wage and benefits package that is typically far more competitive than that of most companies in the supermarket industry. Wages may attract high quality employees, but wages are not necessarily the reason they remain loyal, as any human resources expert can attest. • 4. How Does Ray Bradbury Use Light And Dark In Fahrenheit 451 Title In Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451, he uses light and dark as contrasts is used as a motif to help further develop differences between people in society through characterization and plot. Light symbolizes knowledge and purity; on the other hand, darkness shows ignorance in the society, while also being a form of safety. Bradbury uses light versus dark to compare purity and ignorance through characterization. Before Montag found the value behind books, he would come home from his job of burning books. The first night of meeting Clarisse while walking home from work, he describes her face as a fragile milk crystal with a soft and constant light in it. It was not a hysterical light of electricity but what? But the strangely comfortable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. I Can t Determine First Time I Ever Felt Shame I can t determine first time I ever felt shame, nor am I certain that I want to remember. The thought of even discussing shame makes me feel quite vulnerable and uncomfortable, but, upon deeper reflection, I can conclude that shame has almost always been an integral part of my character. This same reflection also causes my mind to race towards the p word: perfection. Dr. Brené Brown stated in her lecture that this attitude of feeling shame from an inability to reach an ideal existence is commonly found in women, but it is in this manner that I feel I most commonly interact with shame (www.ted.com). To make matters worse, I have consistently bottled this shame up within myself and have not communicated or acknowledged its existence. By so doing I have allowed shame to flourish within me. Dr. Brown added that shame, needs three things to grow exponentially: secrecy, silence, and judgment. Without knowing it, I have been effectively growing my own shame over the past twenty years. I personally desire to kill shame at its very roots in my mind now that its existence has been made known. Examining perfection could be the place to begin my quest to eliminate shame. Perfection for me has presented itself as a persistent need to properly meet or surpass expectations. There are always expectations that a person must live up to, and they may come from internal or external sources. These expectations can vary between cultures, but they are always present. I have realized that I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Story Map Of Home The story Map of Home gives insight into the lives of a family that has been pushed out of their home that now must travel to different country s as refugees. One of the points of conflict in the book is based on the us vs them dichotomy which is based on the notion of fear of others and fear of reaction. This situation has caused a fracture between the refugees and the country s taking them in. In this paper one will also see how this conflict relates the situation in Paris and also argue the position of whether it is right to justify action based on fear. This is problematic because this process deems ignorance, fear and pride as an acceptable way of approaching a situation when it should be approached with kindness, and respect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The attack has fractured the relationship between nations and refuges which has caused a dire problem for [refugees] a person who flees for refuge or safety, especially to a foreign country, as in time of political upheaval, war (Dictionary.com) all over the world. Many countries are closing their doors on refugees based on the notion of fear and what if. For example, What if we get bomb or threatened? What if the refuges are terrorist? This notion is based on fear and fear of others, which instills a fear of rejection to those looking for help. The most difficult part about this conflict is that the questions being asked are important to the security of the country. Most of the people that are refugees are running away from the same terrorist group that attacked Paris. When we react with an emotion reaction like fear and enclose oneself from the problem we are rejecting the refugees and we are falling in to the us vs, them dichotomy. [Dichotomy] Division into two mutually exclusive, opposed, or contradictory groups (Dictionary.com). Were we are pitted against each other and neither wanting to risk the lives of the ones held dear. To solve this problem one needs to approach both dichotomies with a better solution, which doesn t, put both parties at risk or against each other. • 7. How Values And Values Have Affected My Life From the beginning of time, ancient philosophers and educators have taught different life developmental skills to aid people as they grow. Those educators often taught students how to develop ethical and moral character. With teaching those characteristics as a foundation they were able to teach students to branch out and understand a deeper meaning of authenticity, virtue and value. All three of these concepts are required to live a meaningful and balanced life in both the physical, mental and spiritual realms. I will be discussing how authenticity, virtue and values have affected my life, along with how they affect my future. Secondly, I will be discussing how these principles have helped guide me through my life. Values, authenticity, and virtues have an effect on a person from the time they were born and as they continue to age. Authenticity almost has a royal name to where it must be respected and bowed to without question. In my book that is exactly how I think of being authentic; it is being real and genuine without any deception. I could not think of a better way to work, communicate, love, or develop any type of relationship with unless they were honest and real. Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) Essays Introduction In July of 2002, Congress swiftly passed the Public Company Accounting Reform and Investors Protection Act at the time when corporations like Arthur Anderson, Enron and WorldCom fell due to fraudulent accounting practices and bad internal control. This bill, sponsored by Mike Oxley (R OH) and Paul Sarbanes (D MD), became known as Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX).It sought to restore public confidence in publicly traded companies and their accounting practices, though the companies listed above were prosecuted on laws that were already in place before SOX. However the anti knocking properties of diesel is measured by its cetane number. The cetane number is the measurement of the anti knocking and the combustion quality of diesel. It is the equivalent of octane number for gasoline. The average value of cetane number for a diesel fuel ranges from 42 to 45 but for premium diesel cetane number can be up to 60. Another important property of fuels is the calorific value. The calorific value is the amount of heat or energy produced when the fuel is combusted. Therefore the calorific value determines the output power produced by the fuel. It is either measured as either gross calorific value or net calorific value. The most commonly method of comparing calorific values of fuels is net calorific value. The net calorific value of gasoline is 44400 KJ/Kg. This means that 44400 kilojoules of energy is produced for every kilogram of fuel burnt. In comparison, the calorific value of diesel is 43400 (Bureau of Energy efficiency, p.4). The calorific value of diesel is lower than the calorific value of gasoline and hence gasoline has a higher output power than diesel. The output power is one of the most important factors on which efficiency is dependent. Hence it can be said that the efficiency if petrol is higher than that of diesel. The commute is generally between 20 and 30 minutes, though traffic problems, particularly accidents, can greatly increase the time for the commute. Minutes Per Day Spent on Commuting EMBED Excel.Sheet.12 Part II Using the data you have collected in above, please do the following: Calculate the mean, median, and mode. The mean is the number many people refer to as the arithmetic average. It is the sum of the results divided by the total number of data points collected. The mean is: (23+23+27+22+19+30+32+23+24+47)/10 = 27 The median is the number in the middle of a distribution, once that distribution has been placed in ascending or descending order. In ascending order, the results are: 19, 22, 23, 23, 23, 24, 27, 30, 32, 47. Because 10 is an even number, the median is the mean of the two middle numbers. The two middle numbers are 23 and 24. Therefore, the median is 23.5. The mode is the number occurring most frequently in the distribution. The results are: 19, 22, 23, 23, 23, 24, 27, 30, 32, 47. Therefore, the mode is 23. On the surface, Wittgenstein deals with matters concerning the incorrect use of philosophical language and Kierkegaard focuses almost exclusively on answering the question how to become a Christian . But this account belies deeper structural similarities between these men s important works. Thus, this paper suggests that their methods, rather than exclusively content, contain a strong parallel on which a natural and hopefully fruitful examination of their work can be based. Kierkegaard s works are not straightforward proclamations of his philosophy: he wrote under pseudonyms and assumed the persona of these fictional characters in his writing. Thus, one must be careful when attributing a particular position to Kierkegaard often the view is advanced by a pseudonym, so various inferential processes must be applied in order to substantiate a claim that Kierkegaard really meant any statement. Foremost among the structural similarities between Kierkegaard and Wittgenstein works is the use of indirect communication: as paradoxical as it may sound, both authors deliberately obfuscate their philosophy for the purposes of clarifying it. Clarification of the preceding assertion is obviously required. Each author felt that, due to inherent properties of their subject matter, outright delineation of their conclusions would somehow be a self contradiction. Clearly their respective subject matter, the logical structure of language and the task of becoming a Christian, is inherently disparate. Reasons for Project Failure i. The new Wembley stadium was completed in 2007 five years late, £360m over budget, and surrounded by legal disputes. Before we perform our analysis, we would like to highlight some of the facts that lead to failure. Design Multiplex argued that Mott MacDonald s design for the Wembley steel work was not fit for purpose and that the initial designs were not correct, constructible, coordinated and consistent. In other words, although the design looked good, it was very challenging and maybe impossible to replicate to scale. Scope Changes The initial scope was to include football, rugby, and athletics in the same stadium. This later became very controversial and resulted in the removal of athletics from the design in 1999, because of the technical and commercial challenges of accommodating three sports within the same stadium. In 2001, the scope was further changed with the removal of a hotel from the project, the expansion of hospitality suites, and considerably changes to the north side of the stadium. These changes took Mott MacDonald an additional 8 months to redesign.

CKD will cause the body to retain many excess fluids and waste that are normally filtered out to prevent internal harm throughout the body. With kidney disease there will be a rise in blood pressure due to the amount of extra fluid that is retained in the blood vessels. This fluid retention will cause the passageways to become narrow and make blood passage through the vessels increasingly difficult, in turn causing an increase in blood pressure. There will also be an increase in protein and blood found in the urine because it is not filtered out properly by the kidneys. Swelling will occur in the extremities and around the eyes because of the fluid retention as well. The longer the urine goes unfiltered the harder it may become to urinate due to pain or blockage or there may be more frequent night time urination (The National Kidney Foundation, 12). There are also a few tests that will show whether or not the kidneys are filtering the body s fluids as they should. A simple urinalysis can be done to detect protein or blood in the urine. This will alert the medical professionals to a possible problem with the proper functioning of the kidneys. For M2, I will compare the different distribution channel for two different product which is food and clothing. I will examine how retailer distribute food and clothing and what s required to ensure the product is at good condition before it reach to customers. Food The distribution of food is different from clothing as suppliers will need to bear in mind how to appropriately handle food products, example, and health inspection in storage room to avoid transmissible disease.
