Southwest Airlines and Its Business Strategy
Corporate Strategy
Southwest Airlines faced many barriers to entry from the fierce competition of other airlines in the
industry. Though competition was fierce, Southwest Airlines managed to succeed by doing things
differently. Their mission was to provide affordable air travel to those who would not normally fly.
Contradictory to the rest of the airline industry, Southwest maintained a profit while keeping its fares
low. Southwest was unique to the industry in two ways. They focused on the short haul traveler and
used a point to point method of flight connections.
The short haul traveler is the backbone in which Southwest was built upon. The market for short
distance airline flights was large enough to allow Southwest to maintain a ... Show more content on

The subject of employee has three elements that are most important for Southwest Airline to pay
attention to in developing strategies to measure the objectives of learning and growth perspective:
human factor, Information factors, and organizational factors.
Competitive corporate environment it is important that companies pay attention to their employees
abilities to perform their duties. What is actually important is for companies to continuously study not
only how they can perform well for the customers but they also have to address the issue on how they
can maintain a highly effective staff. To achieve this they should have strategies in place to measure
their employees skills, knowledge, and attitude. This will assist in better planning strategies needed to
have an effective retention program in place to measure the learning and growth perspective.
In this age where technology plays an important role in how corporations are run, it is important for
leadership and management of a company to provide the tools needed to help implement the company
s strategy to measure Learning and Growth. They should measure the effectiveness of their systems,
database, and networks.

Warkentin Chapter Summary
How does one describe land? What determines how one describes it? Does it matter about what year
the chapter is written? In Chapter 12 of Warkentin s text, he elaborates on the spacial complexities
humans had in British Columbia between 1840 s and early 2000 s. Warkentin flows from the Southern
British Columbia region to the Central areas of British Columbia then continues observations to the
Island Pacific coast which finishes with the Metropolitan B.C. His expertise of the land is almost
overwhelming with descriptions of the Natural features, resources, and settlements within the area
expressing tremendous spacial and humanistic details, highlighting the Canadian Pacific Railway
(CPR) and the important history between Aboriginals and the settlers of this time. Unlike Warkentin,
Bone describes a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The descriptions he gives about these keystones in history is enough for me to engage in my own
research. This made me question which text is the better to learn from, if a book doesn t create a want
for more, is it a good book? In terms of learning, I much preferred the Warkentin chapter as it
influenced me to dig deeper into the history of topics. What intrigues me about both chapters is their
different takes on what the geography of B.C. should represent. The Bone articles highlight an
economic opportunity in the mining, and extractions of resources, while seemingly bypassing the
history of how British Columbians have gotten to that point. There is a lack of concern for indigenous
population and other small communities in particularly the northern regions which should be
addressed. Bone does a great job of keeping his text simple and effective for easy reading to catch
main points, in my opinion this is where Warkentin has struggled. The detail Warkentin illustrates in
his text is profound yet cumbersome at times. Warkentin s knowledge of the land and how humans
have managed to integrate themselves among it to begin the extraction of the materials which

Lab Report #3: Copper Cycle
Abstract:
The purpose of the experiment is to cycle solid copper through a series of five reactions. At different
stages of the cycle, copper was present in different forms. First reaction involves reaction between the
copper and nitric acid, and copper changed from elemental state to an aqueous. The second reaction
converted the aqueous Cu2+ into the solid copper (2) hydroxide. In the third reaction Cu(OH)2
decomposed into copper 2 oxide and water when heated. When solid CuO reacted with sulfuric acid,
the copper returned to solution as an ion (Cu2+). The cycle of reactions was completed with the

Discussion:
In this experiment an elemental copper was cycled a series of five reactions where it ended with pure
elemental copper as well, but at different stages of the cycle the copper was in different forms. In the
first reaction, elemental copper was reacted with concentrated nitric acid where copper changed the
form from solid to aqueous. Second reaction then converted the aqueous Cu2+ into the solid copper II
hydroxide (Cu(OH)2) through reaction with sodium hydroxide. The third reaction takes advantage of
the fact that Cu(OH)2 is thermally unstable. When heated, Cu(OH)2 decomposes (breaks down into
smaller substances) into copper II oxide and water. When the solid CuO is reacted with sulfuric acid,
the copper is returned to solution as an ion (Cu2+). The cycle of reactions is completed with the

Strategies Of Oral Communication
The 3 predominantly used communication strategies utilised in Parkway Pantai Group are oral
communication, emails and the means of quarterly printed publications, circulars and memos. Oral
Communication
Oral communication is the most basic medium utilised throughout the company in terms of telephonic
conversations or face to face conversations. For example, if a colleague is facing IT issues on his/her
computer, he/she will most probably pick up the handset and give a convenient call to the IT
department for assistance. Oral communication is best in case of problem resolution and promotes a
receptive and encouraging morale among organizational employees.
Advantages
There is no element of rigidity in oral communication and there is no need to maintain formalities
which are needed in written communication. So it is easy and helpful to the company. There is
flexibility for allowing changes in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So it is impossible to preserve the message for future. There is very possibility of inaccurate messages
to reach the destination. So, the reverse result of expected plan may be occurred and distortion of the
word may occur in oral communication, then main goals of the organization may be filed.
The scope of usage of oral communication is limited. It is not suitable for lengthy messages. It should
be sued for short message. The main subject may be omitted to express a word for communicating in
short messages or sometimes, the receiver fails to understand the meaning of a message due to
habitual productions of the speaker.
There is no legal validity in oral messages as oral messages are not taped and no records are kept.
Therefore it can be denied easily if the situation goes against the speaker.

In oral communication, meaningless speech can mislead the main effects of the communication. But
when the information comes out in written, we take it seriously.

Artificial Intelligence Argument Essay
Artificial Intelligence is undoubtedly a hotly debated topic in today s society, with many concerned
that it will soon enslave humanity and others saying that it s harmless and only here to help us. Many
sci fi movies, such as the infamous 1984 film produced by James Cameron, The Terminator, portray
robots as becoming knowledgeable and taking over the world. Humanity creates an artificially
intelligent program known as Skynet, which becomes completely cognizant and overthrows the world
by initiating a nuclear holocaust. In the aftermath, a group of survivors creates a resistance that
attempts to destroy the program, however they are met with the challenge of defeating Skynet s
cyborg army. Skynet sends a terminator, played by Arnold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nick Bostrom, a philosopher and the University of Oxford, states that, ...superintelligence could
emerge, and while it could be great [...] it could also decide it doesn t need humans around (Ford).
This philosopher, like many other technology critics, can see the effects that artificial intelligence may
have on our future, however there is always the select group of people who cannot foresee the
consequences of their actions. For example, Victor Frankenstein was introduced to science at a young
age and when he went to college at Ingolstadt he met Professor Waldman shared a similar scientific
interest. Waldman proclaimed, If your wish is to become really a man of science [...] I should advise
you to apply to every branch of natural philosophy... much like how Waldman himself devotes his life
to all branches of science (Shelley 29). However, this sparked Victor s interested and caused him to
not immediately realize the ramifications of his attempts to bring the dead back to life, which lead to
the death of Victor s loved ones and the destruction of his world. The entire human race in The
Terminator closely resembles Victor Frankenstein considering that humans create the superintelligent
program, Skynet, which is supposed solely defend the nation s cyber network, however it ends up
taking over the world. This is extremely similar to Victor s situation, in which both he and humanity

Database And Unstructured Data Of A Business Perspective
1. Introduction
Nowadays, terabytes to petabytes of data that is been stored and transmitted by numerous sources and
organizations have realized that these data contain tangible value that has the potential to change the
fortunes of a business. Top firms leverage their business through the valuable insights gained through
these data to assist them in their decision making process. The huge chucks of data consists structured,
semi structured and unstructured data. Organizations have switched their focus more on exploring
semi structured and unstructured data that is generated through social media activities, personal media
information and geo location data.

In addition to its flexibility, these databases provides horizontal scalability and distributed computing
that led to adoption of NoSQL databases in the firms. The SQL databases uses Structured Query
Language whereas NOSQL databases use Unstructured Query Language which varies from database
to database.
1.2 Features of NoSQL Databases:
Schema on Read: There is no definite schema on the underlying data in the databases and it leads to
high flexibility on the storage
Nonrelational: In traditional databases there are relations between the tables. For example, a list of
transaction details can be connected to a separate list of delivery details. With a NoSQL database, this
information is stored as an aggregate a single record with everything about the transaction, including
the delivery address
Commodity hardware: With a NoSQL database, cheap commodity hardware can be used. Adding
more of these cheap servers allows NoSQL databases to scale to handle more data.
Highly distributable: With a NoSQL database, a cluster of servers can be used to hold a single large
database
2. Different Types of NOSQL databases
There are many types of non relational databases but more often than not, they fall under one of the
following categories:
2.1 Document Model
In a document model, data is stored in documents. This uses a type of notation called JSON
(JavaScript Object Notation) and is closely associated with the object

Indirect Use Values
Miller (1994) suggests that species value cannot be properly assessed until a species economic value is
established within a community. Economic value can be focused on two main categories: use values
and non use values. Use values can further be dived into direct and indirect use values. Direct use
defines what resources a particular organism can be used for alone or systematically while indirect use
refers to the benefits that are attributed to the organism when left in it s natural habitat. There are
currently no record of harvesting or selling that can be listed as a direct use value for Sorex hoyi.
Indirect use values of Sorex hoyi can fall under the species ecological contribution. Sorex hoyi forms

Intel Case Study

DRAM industry analysis lessons learned
By the early 1980, Intel s total share in DRAM was barely 1% and manufacturing was restricted to
one fab out of Intel s eight fab, where the Japanese semiconductor companies had captured nearly half
of the world memory market. There are several factors that forced Intel to exit the DRAM market,
those are the same lessons learned.
1. Intel was always the pioneer in inventing and enhancing the DRAM with respect to the price and
performance, but the industry was driven by necessity to cross license among established players. And
Intel was not on power at that time. Exhibit 6 shows the comparative intellectual property

into Intel s business strategy as well as offered a financial return.

The Israelites Meeting to Inquire of Yahweh
The pericope or main focus of this paper the scene in Exodus 33:7 through 34:3. In this selection of
emphasized text we have the Israelites meeting to inquire of Yahweh, in a tent that is some distance
away. the speech then goes into distinct detail of what happens when regular israelites go to inquire of
Yahweh, In comparison to when Moses goes to inquire of Yahweh in the tent of worship. During
Moses time with Yahweh, the people of Israel waited for Moses and his aide Joshua to go into the tent,
and the people, waited outside the tents until they saw the sign a pillar of smoke then the would
worship Yahweh outside their tents. During one of these conversations, Moses ensures that Yahweh
will go with the Israelites into the promise land, and then asks to be shown the glory of Yahweh. To
which yahweh responds that no one may see his face and live but Moses can look at him from behind
and see the glory of Yahweh on Mt Sinai. During this time Yahweh also plans to give Moses another
copy of the Book of the Covenant. The pericope happens towards the end of the Book of Exodus, after
the salvation and during the process of sanctifying the Israelites. It also before the construction of

The Benefits Of Driving Limitation For Teenagers
Should there be so many driving limitation for young teenagers? Should these laws include limiting
the time of day that a teenage driver can drive alone or the number of passengers permitted in the car?
Also, would it be helpful to have a permit system that would give new drivers more experience before
they get behind the wheel alone on their own? Are these laws beneficial/necessary for young drivers?
Teenage drivers are not always following the laws that are in place that would restrict them from
driving during overnight hours, using cell phones, and limiting the number of passengers they can
have in the car. It would seem that one of the biggest accomplishments in a teenager s life is receiving
their driver s license. It is my opinion that, obtaining a license gives a teenager freedom; a newfound
sense of independence. This new independence can be very intoxicating. Teenagers drive themselves
to school functions, extracurricular activities, or to work. A friend drives over to visit or to pick them
up to go somewhere. It is very thrilling to know that you are not at your parent s mercy to drive you to
and from school, meet friends, or to work. But with all of this new freedom comes responsibility
which most sixteen year olds are not ready to handle.
I understand why teenagers would want to break the law and drive before they are legally ready.
Teenagers crave independence. As they grow into young adults, they feel the need to spread their
wings, and move away from the nest. Driving is an important milestone that allows teenagers to
transition into adulthood independently. Teenagers look forward to that independence with great
anticipation, and want to drive earlier, therefore, they end up breaking laws which are there to protect
the young teenager. There is a time in the teenage years, especially the ages sixteen twenty which are
considered a rite of passage for many individuals who want to apply for a driver s license and legally
drive the car as a licensed driver. It isn t just teens that are excited to reach that defining age; even
parents are excited and motivated as well to join their kids in this exciting time of their life. Because
of this, young teenage drivers have consistently broken the driving

Pay Gap Among Women
The wicked problem of the gender wage gap s presence in the United States workforce is highly
debated. Because the issue is often intangible and so complex in nature, the causes of the wage gap are
often difficult to pinpoint and wholly address. In nearly almost every occupation women earn less than
their male counterparts. Over their lifetimes men will be paid more than women (Institute for Women

men these include: discrimination in payment, hiring, or promotions. Furthermore, there are other

there is debate whether this issue exists in American society. Moreover, there are long lasting
impressions of what society thinks is normal and common practice. If policymakers and government
are not willing to confront the problem, society will continue to deny the problem. Furthermore,
obstinate inequality in income has significant economic consequences that extend to other issues that

Overview of the Fall Prevention Program
The Fall Prevention Program Executive Summary The Purpose of the Program According to the Joint
Commission Resources JCR (2005), there is no universally accepted definition of a fall. Thus several
definitions have been floated over time in an attempt to define the same. One such definition of a fall
is an untoward event that results in the patient or resident coming to rest unintentionally on the ground
or another lower surface (Joint Commission Resources, 2005). Falls are regarded common causes of
injury at every age. However, it is important to note that for seniors, falls can have serious
consequences. This is more so the case given that a fall can bring about pain, trauma, or even death.
With that in mind, the primary purpose of this program remains the reduction of falls and hence the
aversion of related injuries amongst the concerned patients. Of key importance remains the
identification of patients who appear to be at high risk of falling. This way, appropriate strategies can
be developed to reduce the injuries related to inpatient falls. The Target Population/Audience
According to the Joint Commission Resources (2005), falls are the ¦primary etiology of accidental
deaths in persons over the age of 65. However, it is important to note that in the opinion of JCR, the
injury rate happens to be highest amongst those aged 85 years and above. To highlight the seriousness
of the issue, the commission further points out that the number of deaths associated with

Police Suspicion Essay
Many things go into making a decision for a police officer on a daily basis. Assessing a threat is an
activity that any police officer must do in order to better stay safe within the community and to live
long enough to see retirement. There are obvious and easy to pick out things which give red flags to
an officer such as weapons, disregard for the safety of yourself or others, and clear intent to harm the
officer. Other, less obvious factors, also must come into play. The factor which we are going to look at
in this paper is age. During February of 2006, five researchers observed police officers in Savannah
Georgia for 132 8 hour shifts. After each stop police officers would debrief the researchers and talk
about how and why a character was deemed as raising suspicion. Over the course of this research,
there were 174 documented cases of suspects raising suspicion. In order to form suspicion officers
must have, at any time, became doubting, distrustful or otherwise troubled or concerned about an
individual. Suspicion arose in a majority of cases due to the abnormal behavior of the individual(s)
that seemed to pique the interest of the officer. Although the end result of the suspicion did not always
end up in a stop of an individual or vehicle. In some cases, the officers ... Show more content on

age and police suspicion at all.
Through the knowledge done by this research, we can confirm the fact that indeed officers seem to not
become suspicion of an individual due to age. The next logical step is to try and understand why
juveniles are treated differently and how this affects what the ultimate outcome of what is supposed to

The Gonzales V. Raich
Gonzales v. Raich was a landmark case which determined the extent that Congress could regulate
marijuana usage in California. More precisely, the case involves deliberation between the
constitutionality of the Compassionate Use Act, voted on by the state of California in 1996, and the
Controlled Substances Act (CSA), passed by Congress in 1970. Does the CSA, a policy which permits
the regulation of certain drugs and chemicals by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), exceed the
regulations set under the Commerce Clause of the Constitution? Does the Compassionate Use Act,
which allows for the use of medical marijuana in California, protect citizen s rights to use and
distribute marijuana for medicinal purposes? The decision made by the Supreme Court would spark
debate over these questions as well as similar topics such as federal abuse of power, doctor patient
confidentiality, and the decriminalization of marijuana across America. In my paper, I will cover the
events and influences leading up to the Supreme Court s official decision, the significance of the
outcome, and the questions and issues brought up in the aftermath of Gonzales v. Raich.
In 1996, California voters passed the Compassionate Use Act, which allowed for the cultivation and
usage of marijuana for limited medical purposes. The proposition was the statewide ballot on the issue
of medical marijuana which had been passed. It was enacted with 55% of the population in favor, 45%
opposed, a fact which in and of itself

The History of Piercings and Tattoos
The History of Tattoos and Body Piercing
The largest organ in the human body is the skin. Some people choose to express themselves through
decorating their skin with tattoos, piercing and other kinds of body art. It s true origin, symbolism,
variety, and modern day versions go way back in time.
The first tattoo known to man, was found on Otzi, the Iceman , in 1991. Otzi himself is from around
4,000 B.C. Fifty eight tattoos were found on him, they were all made of lines and dots. No real
symbolism could be made out of the designs. But scientists have a theory that these tattoos were part
of some sort of medical or spiritual healing process.

Ear lobe piercing is the most common and oldest type of piercing. This was also found on Otzi. He
had pierced ears that had been stretched to eleven millimeters around. Roman soldiers and warriors
would pierce their nipples for mainly two reasons. One was to show strength, courage, and bravery,
and the second was for the use of hanging their capes off of their leather breastplates when in a battle.
Nipple piercing in women started in the 14th century when the necklines of dresses dropped so
incredibly low that practically half of the women s breast would be exposed. So they would decorate
the nipple with gold chains, diamonds, silver, and other stuff to make them more attractive. Other
piercing were used to make the body more decorative and attractive to their personal liking. Reasons
for piercing are different. One reason is that a person wants to decorate their body because they think
it makes them beautiful, or it is a custom in their family. The most common piercing is piercing of the
earlobe. Men and women are both seen with studs, or rings in their lobes. The second most common,
believe it or not, is the piercing of the septum. Other common piercing are of the tongue, bellybutton,
nose, and eyebrow. Body art is popular because it makes a person feel different, or special....in a way.

Essay on The Life and Legend of Gautama Buddha and...
The life and legend of Gautama Buddha is a captivating one. Born an Indian Prince in the sixth

belief of Buddhism. Much like spring time, Gautama Buddha was full of prospering life and energy.
The biography Gautama Buddha: In Life and Legend by Betty Kelen provides insight into the life of
the Buddha, and with these details, readers are able to make comparisons between he and springtime.

Buddha was born during springtime and legend says, from the roots to the tips of the branches the
grove was one mass of flowers, and from the midst of the shrubbery came the hum of bees and bird
songs and the cries of peacocks (Kelen 20). When Gautama was born, he was underneath the silken
canopies of a satinwood tree, and was not like ordinary babies. Instead of crying he was, the color of
creamy gold; not squalling and snarling, but emitting sweetly modulated and charming sounds similar
to the bird songs round about (Kelen 21). This short passage gives readers the notion that Buddha was
heavenly even from his first breath. Much like how new life is made during springtime, Buddha was
born and brought new life to Nepal and eventually the rest of the world. Spring is known as a
vivacious and colorful season of the year. Siddhartha Gautama, otherwise known as the Buddha, is
thought of as a bubbly and conversant individual. Through years of deep meditation and higher level
self exploration, Buddha became the enlightened one . Gautama Buddha can be compared to spring in
many ways, but most apparent is that both possess qualities of new life and new ideas as to how to
live. For example, Buddha possessed the ability to, in a sense, travel to a place out of reach by humans
and find out who he really was and why he was placed on the Earth. Springtime on the other hand, is a
time when people clean out their homes, change their styles, and focus on themselves whether it

Vouchers Should Not Be Allowed In Schools Essay
The idea of vouchers being given to families to pay the cost of a private education has generated much
debate within the United States for years. The Swedish experience with vouchers might offer
invaluable insights into the efficacy of school vouchers. In the early 1990s, Sweden introduced
vouchers into their educational system. According to a slate.com article titled Sweden s School Choice
Disaster written by Ray Fisman, the system was put in place by a center right (by Swedish standards)
government, inspired by the ideas of the godfather of free market economics, Milton Friedman. In

Why Is Augustine Called The City Of God
Augustine, The City of God
In the 5th century, a Christian Bishop of Hippo named Augustine wrote a book called The City of
God. In an effort to defend the Church against the accusations made by the Pagans, he discusses how
there are two groups of people in which he divides them into two different cities. Each city is based on
either a love of God or on a love of self. The first city is the city of God which is associated with the
love of God. Next, is the city of Man, who is linked with the love of self. Augustine uses these cities to
trace history back to the beginning of the world showing that he was different than those who came
before him and that he knew what was going to happen.

to God s laws. In the Earthly city, they lived on the basis of rule. Leaders, along with the people of the
city were all about domination and believed in the glory of human wisdom and strength. Contrary to
the Earthly city was the Heavenly city. This city was focused on the basis of God and there is no
merely human wisdom, but there is a piety which worships the true God as he should be worshipped.
With the city of Man s love of self, they treasured their leaders along with the symbolism of strength.

cities have many differences between them, the city of Man was visible, temporal, and corrupt while

In the early 1970 s, President Richard Milhous Nixon was a popular president among many people in

By definition an epic hero is a brave and noble character found within a narrative who is admired for
great achievements and overcoming seemingly impossible odds. In the historic novel Beowulf, the
protagonist of the same name perfectly embodies the concept of an epic hero. On top of his heroic and
noble deeds, Beowulf accomplishes multiple feats of inhuman strength such as slaying savage beasts
like Grendel, his mother, as well as a mighty dragon that laid waste to the land, all of which were
completely impervious to swords or any other forms of weaponry known at the time. Undeterred,
Beowulf managed to slay the fiends with overwhelming force and his unrelenting ferocity. While

The Light and Dark of Colonialism in Heart of Darkness
In the opening of his novel, Heart of Darkness, Conrad, through Marlow, establishes his thoughts on
colonialism. He says that conquerors only use brute force, nothing to boast of because it arises, by
accident, from another s weakness. Marlow compares his subsequent tale of colonialism with that of
the Roman colonization of Northern Europe and the fascination associated with such an endeavor.
However, Marlow challenges this viewpoint by painting a heinous picture of the horrors of colonialist
ventures as we delve deeper into the recesses of the novel. Here we find that Marlow sees colonization

if placed in Kurtz position.
As the treacherous villain of the tale the manager, signifies total darkness and blackness of the soul, as
he is responsible for the severely unbalanced priorities of the company through the extreme
importance given to the obtaining of ivory and the deficiency of importance given to human lives.
Conrad also implements minor characters to further the unexpected distinction between dark and light,
black and white. The white pilgrims are portrayed as materialistic, ivory hungry opportunists with
black souls; their behavior is violent and savage. Contrariwise, the black natives are civil, spiritual,
and have white souls. In the beginning of the novel, Conrad creates the fellow seamen who

between the materialistic and the spiritual. The fellow sailors do not understand Marlow s tale and

St. Thomas Aquinas Cosmological Argument
Catholic Church:
St. Thomas Aquinas (Cosmological Argument)
In St. Thomas Aquinas s cosmological argument claims the following that the universe exist and its
very existence has a cause and that cause is God. In his unfinished book Summa Theologiae, Aquinas
put forward five ways for the existence of God.
His first way is the argument from motion and by studying the works of Aristotle, the Greek
Philosopher, he concluded from common observation that the planets, rolling stone or any object that
is in motion is put in motion by other forces or object. From this theory, Aquinas believes there must
have been an unmoved mover which is God who sets things in motion. It is certain and evident that in

The final way that St. Thomas Aquinas speaks of has to do with the universe and the order of nature.
Aquinas states that common sense tells us that the universe works in such a way, that one can
conclude that it was designed by an intelligent designer. In other words, all physical laws and the order
of nature and life were designed and ordered by God. Because whatever lacks in intelligence cannot
move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being with knowledge and intelligence. Some
intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end, and this being we call
God. This argument by Aquinas is suggesting that inanimate objects such as the planets could not have
placed themselves into the orbits they have, because they lack the intelligence to do so. Yet they are
aligned so perfectly, this must mean it must have been done so by a being with the intelligence to do
so. Although we humans are intelligent, we cannot move planets, so that leaves us with

The Importance Of An Important Role Within Society
Archivists play an important role within society. Historically, archives were centered on the
preservation of materials (Vassilakaki Moniarou Papaconstantinou, (2017). As the centuries passed,
the role of the archivist expanded the schooling necessary to work as an archivist became more
complex, and the field of archival science developed into what it is today. In the scope of library
professions, the number of archivists is still quite small. As of April 2015, there were approximately
166,200 librarians working in the United States, as of that May, only 5,460 of these were archivists
(Eastwood, 2017). This indicates that the profession is still developing. According to Jenkinson
(1922), the author of the Manual of Archive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why there is no clear education path. Usually, a bachelor s degree in the liberal arts is pursued;
however, there is no specific major for the career. It is further recommended to take any pre LIS or
archival courses offered during ones undergraduate education (Vault, 2017). Having completed a
bachelor s degree, one could begin working in the field, however, they would be severely lacking in
the required knowledge to perform well as an archivist. It is most typical to further pursue a Master s
degree in History, Library Science, Political Science, or Public Administration. In the last decade, it
has become common to see both Computer Science and Information Systems as Masters Degrees
(OOH, 2015; Anderson, 2010, 756). As noted by Eastwood (2017), a master s program specifically
dedicated to Archival Science does not exist in the United States; however, multiple educators in the
field seek to have one established (78). Though there are many options for ones higher education
degree, individuals seeking a career in archives typically pursue a degree in History or LIS because of
the significant overlap between the degree and the professional competencies (Shepherd, 2010, 187).
Furthermore, depending on the specific type of archives one intends to work in, it may be necessary to
pursue a dual masters. For example, if one intends to work in the archives at a historical society, it is
necessary to have a History and LIS degree (Vault,

Switzerland Absolute Location Paper
Physical Characteristics When wanting to get the most accurate location of a place, one uses the
absolute location. To identify the absolute location one must find the longitudinal and latitudinal
coordinates. Switzerland s absolute location is 47 00 N, 8 00 E and the absolute location of Bern
(Capital City) is46° 56 N, 7° 26 E ( The World Fact book: SWITZERLAND , 2016). When people
refer to Switzerland s location they don t usually use its absolute location but, instead the commonly
use its relative location. The relative location of Switzerland is being located in Western Europe and
being located in the northern and eastern hemispheres ( Location of Switzerland , 2016). As well as
being landlocked by Austria, France, Italy, Liechtenstein and Germany ( Location of Switzerland ,
2016).

One of the most popular landforms in Switzerland is the wide range of mountains. Switzerland is
dominated by mountains which cover about 60% of Switzerland s land area. The formation of The
Jura began 65 million years ago and was part of the same Earth movements that formed the Alps ( Jura
Mountains,2010). With mountain ranges such as the Jura Mountains, the Monte Rosa Massif and the
Matterhorn, they have made Switzerland one of the most desirable places for mountain hikers and
skiers to visit.
The Jura Mountains extend for 225milles in a crescent shaped arc formation and lies mostly within
Switzerland but the western part of the mountain lies in France. The Jura Mountain is composed of
sandstone and limestone and rich in fossils. The highest peak of Jura is located in the southern part of
the mountain and reaches up to 5,636 feet. The lower ridges of the arc are towards the northeastern
part of the

The Connection And Value Of The Kavalan Drinking Industry
Although the premium quality of Kavalan whisky is well recognized by global awards, its price
setting remains too high as a new entrant in the whisky industry. The brand awareness and brand
differciation have been built up, but the message that it conveys from promotions losing track of
inviting, engaging, and entertaining targeted customers. The connection and association between KCD
whisky is loose based on the findings above. Therefore it is recommended as follows:
5.1 Implication of brand communities within the brand of KCD
In lean economic time nowadays, only a few firms comprehend and execute approaches to stir
customer loyalty towards a brand, achieve marketing efficiency, and brand credibility provided by that
solid communities (Fournier and Lee, 2009). For whisky communities play critical roles in local
whisky industry, new approaches for increasing their impacts are suggested.

The whole King Car Group where Kavalan whisky distillery belongs needs to retool every sphere of
its business group from the culture of the organization to its operation management and corporate
governance formation to install the community strategy within. KCD has not developed as a
community based element to firm the connection between the company and its customers. For internal
stakeholders such as employees, the habitual and adjoining connection with the targeted customers
could accumulate meanings to their service. For instance, cooperate with local hotels to introduce a
designated weekly whisky night, served with Kavalan whisky, traditional Ilan cuisine and live music.

Uk Riots 2011
UK RIOTS 2011 Between the 6th and 11th of August 2011 thousands of people rioted in cities across
England participating in looting, arson and vandalism. The rioting occurred after a peaceful
demonstration on the 4th of August in Tottenham over the death of local 29 year old father of four
Mark Duggan who was a victim of a still unresolved shooting by the police. 1. Text 1 Experts Cite
Underlying Causes for UK Riots is a news report by Al Pessin published on Voice of America website
the 10th of August 2011. The report consists of people giving an estimate of the causes for the UK

He doesn t argue for these drafts of punishment and prevention. The form of appeal is mostly ethos
and in a mild degree logos. 3. There are some conflicting elements, when discussing how society can
prevent similar problems in the future. Cameron expresses in text 1 that he wishes better parenting.
Parents have to set boundaries with the purpose of children knowing the difference between right and
wrong. His promised harsher consequences involving a higher fixing of sentence and tougher police
tactics will maybe have a frightening effect on young people, but will not change their minds, if they
are determined to participate in riots. Prevention costs less than punishment and is both the most
humanitarian and the only sensible solution. It can be very stressful being a teenager with a cut in
youth service spending by the government and increasing expectations and demands by the society.
We need to invest in young people to create a feeling of stability and hope. Through interventions
young people will be motivated and open their eyes to new opportunities. The government can take
inspiration from Denmark, where we demand that young people are occupied with either school or
work. If a person doesn t have a high enough average or miss subjects in order to attend the dream

The Dark Avengers
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes; tall, dark, handsome, ugly, astute, or mentally handicapped, and
Shane is no exception. He rode into their lives with temperance and vigor, and left a legacy behind.
How does one deal with a shady business man who is hell bent on wanted and willful destruction of
freedom? Brute force has always been the heroes approach. Shane rode into a small town in Wyoming
and met a family, who with all their respect needed a hero. Both of the stories that I will tell, including
Shane s and the story of Tombstone had their similarities, and also had their differences. What is it
about the dark clothed eerie figures that instill so much fear in the hearts of vigilantes? Perhaps it is
their silence that speaks such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another obstacle lay ahead as Fletcher would not have this stranger ruin his plans of domination. Up
on the balcony behind Shane he took a shot. Missing his target, Shane returned fire in a glorious finish
to what was a choice long awaited in his mind. I expect that finishes it, Schaefer (141) he uttered, and
it did. I will now describe Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp; a lawman, hunter, gambler, saloon keeper, miner,
and boxing referee. Wyatt s appearance was always professional. He would wear pressed black suits
and pants, with a vest, and underneath the suit, a white dress shirt was visible. On his head, a top hat
was occasionally seen. When he was younger, around twenty years of age, facial hair was a constant
for Earp. It started as a small moustache, and grew into a wavy horizontal pattern that remained fixed
upon his face. His eyes were dark and he seemed to wear a scowl, any man that strolled by him could
not help but notice his intense aura. Many people thought of him as the county sheriff; however he
preferred the city marshal title. His attitude toward crime involved taking no chances, and he became
known for cracking the long barrel of his Colt over the heads of offenders, a good solution to avoid a
fatality, and for delivering the perpetrator into prison. Wyatt loved to disturb the peace when a member
of the town became disorderly. The movie Tombstone portrays his character well as a courtesy starved
lawman who wants nothing but respect, and honesty from the

Though competition was fierce, Southwest Airlines managed to succeed by doing things differently. Their mission was to provide affordable air travel to those who would not normally fly. Contradictory to the rest of the airline industry, Southwest maintained a profit while keeping its fares low. Southwest was unique to the industry in two ways. They focused on the short haul traveler and used a point to point method of flight connections. The short haul traveler is the backbone in which Southwest was built upon. • 3. Warkentin Chapter Summary How does one describe land? What determines how one describes it? Does it matter about what year the chapter is written? In Chapter 12 of Warkentin s text, he elaborates on the spacial complexities humans had in British Columbia between 1840 s and early 2000 s. Warkentin flows from the Southern British Columbia region to the Central areas of British Columbia then continues observations to the Island Pacific coast which finishes with the Metropolitan B.C. His expertise of the land is almost overwhelming with descriptions of the Natural features, resources, and settlements within the area expressing tremendous spacial and humanistic details, highlighting the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and the important history between Aboriginals and the settlers of this time. In terms of learning, I much preferred the Warkentin chapter as it influenced me to dig deeper into the history of topics. What intrigues me about both chapters is their different takes on what the geography of B.C. should represent. The Bone articles highlight an economic opportunity in the mining, and extractions of resources, while seemingly bypassing the history of how British Columbians have gotten to that point. There is a lack of concern for indigenous population and other small communities in particularly the northern regions which should be addressed. Bone does a great job of keeping his text simple and effective for easy reading to catch main points, in my opinion this is where Warkentin has struggled. The detail Warkentin illustrates in his text is profound yet cumbersome at times. At different stages of the cycle, copper was present in different forms. First reaction involves reaction between the copper and nitric acid, and copper changed from elemental state to an aqueous. The second reaction converted the aqueous Cu2+ into the solid copper (2) hydroxide. In the third reaction Cu(OH)2 decomposed into copper 2 oxide and water when heated. When solid CuO reacted with sulfuric acid, the copper returned to solution as an ion (Cu2+). In the first reaction, elemental copper was reacted with concentrated nitric acid where copper changed the form from solid to aqueous. Second reaction then converted the aqueous Cu2+ into the solid copper II hydroxide (Cu(OH)2) through reaction with sodium hydroxide. The third reaction takes advantage of the fact that Cu(OH)2 is thermally unstable. When heated, Cu(OH)2 decomposes (breaks down into smaller substances) into copper II oxide and water. When the solid CuO is reacted with sulfuric acid, the copper is returned to solution as an ion (Cu2+). The cycle of reactions is completed with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Humanity creates an artificially intelligent program known as Skynet, which becomes completely cognizant and overthrows the world by initiating a nuclear holocaust. Waldman proclaimed, If your wish is to become really a man of science [...] I should advise you to apply to every branch of natural philosophy... much like how Waldman himself devotes his life to all branches of science (Shelley 29). However, this sparked Victor s interested and caused him to not immediately realize the ramifications of his attempts to bring the dead back to life, which lead to the death of Victor s loved ones and the destruction of his world. In this selection of emphasized text we have the Israelites meeting to inquire of Yahweh, in a tent that is some distance away. the speech then goes into distinct detail of what happens when regular israelites go to inquire of Yahweh, In comparison to when Moses goes to inquire of Yahweh in the tent of worship. During Moses time with Yahweh, the people of Israel waited for Moses and his aide Joshua to go into the tent, and the people, waited outside the tents until they saw the sign a pillar of smoke then the would worship Yahweh outside their tents. During one of these conversations, Moses ensures that Yahweh will go with the Israelites into the promise land, and then asks to be shown the glory of Yahweh. • 15. The Benefits Of Driving Limitation For Teenagers Should there be so many driving limitation for young teenagers? Should these laws include limiting the time of day that a teenage driver can drive alone or the number of passengers permitted in the car? Also, would it be helpful to have a permit system that would give new drivers more experience before they get behind the wheel alone on their own? Are these laws beneficial/necessary for young drivers? Teenage drivers are not always following the laws that are in place that would restrict them from driving during overnight hours, using cell phones, and limiting the number of passengers they can have in the car. It would seem that one of the biggest accomplishments in a teenager s life is receiving their driver s license. It is my opinion that, obtaining a license gives a teenager freedom; a newfound sense of independence. This new independence can be very intoxicating. Teenagers drive themselves to school functions, extracurricular activities, or to work. A friend drives over to visit or to pick them up to go somewhere. It is very thrilling to know that you are not at your parent s mercy to drive you to and from school, meet friends, or to work. But with all of this new freedom comes responsibility which most sixteen year olds are not ready to handle. I understand why teenagers would want to break the law and drive before they are legally ready. Teenagers crave independence. As they grow into young adults, they feel the need to spread their wings, and move away from the nest. Driving is an important milestone that allows teenagers to transition into adulthood independently. Teenagers look forward to that independence with great anticipation, and want to drive earlier, therefore, they end up breaking laws which are there to protect the young teenager. There is a time in the teenage years, especially the ages sixteen twenty which are considered a rite of passage for many individuals who want to apply for a driver s license and legally drive the car as a licensed driver. It isn t just teens that are excited to reach that defining age; even parents are excited and motivated as well to join their kids in this exciting time of their life. • 18. Overview of the Fall Prevention Program The Fall Prevention Program Executive Summary The Purpose of the Program According to the Joint Commission Resources JCR (2005), there is no universally accepted definition of a fall. Thus several definitions have been floated over time in an attempt to define the same. One such definition of a fall is an untoward event that results in the patient or resident coming to rest unintentionally on the ground or another lower surface (Joint Commission Resources, 2005). Falls are regarded common causes of injury at every age. However, it is important to note that for seniors, falls can have serious consequences. This is more so the case given that a fall can bring about pain, trauma, or even death. With that in mind, the primary purpose of this program remains the reduction of falls and hence the aversion of related injuries amongst the concerned patients. Of key importance remains the identification of patients who appear to be at high risk of falling. This way, appropriate strategies can be developed to reduce the injuries related to inpatient falls. The Target Population/Audience According to the Joint Commission Resources (2005), falls are the ¦primary etiology of accidental deaths in persons over the age of 65. However, it is important to note that in the opinion of JCR, the injury rate happens to be highest amongst those aged 85 years and above. • 20. Police Suspicion Essay Many things go into making a decision for a police officer on a daily basis. Assessing a threat is an activity that any police officer must do in order to better stay safe within the community and to live long enough to see retirement. There are obvious and easy to pick out things which give red flags to an officer such as weapons, disregard for the safety of yourself or others, and clear intent to harm the officer. Other, less obvious factors, also must come into play. The factor which we are going to look at in this paper is age. During February of 2006, five researchers observed police officers in Savannah Georgia for 132 8 hour shifts. After each stop police officers would debrief the researchers and talk about how and why a character was deemed as raising suspicion. Over the course of this research, there were 174 documented cases of suspects raising suspicion. In order to form suspicion officers must have, at any time, became doubting, distrustful or otherwise troubled or concerned about an individual. Suspicion arose in a majority of cases due to the abnormal behavior of the individual(s) that seemed to pique the interest of the officer. More precisely, the case involves deliberation between the constitutionality of the Compassionate Use Act, voted on by the state of California in 1996, and the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), passed by Congress in 1970. Does the CSA, a policy which permits the regulation of certain drugs and chemicals by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), exceed the regulations set under the Commerce Clause of the Constitution? Does the Compassionate Use Act, which allows for the use of medical marijuana in California, protect citizen s rights to use and distribute marijuana for medicinal purposes? The decision made by the Supreme Court would spark debate over these questions as well as similar topics such as federal abuse of power, doctor patient confidentiality, and the decriminalization of marijuana across America. In my paper, I will cover the events and influences leading up to the Supreme Court s official decision, the significance of the outcome, and the questions and issues brought up in the aftermath of Gonzales v. St. Thomas Aquinas Cosmological Argument Catholic Church: St. Thomas Aquinas (Cosmological Argument) In St. Thomas Aquinas s cosmological argument claims the following that the universe exist and its very existence has a cause and that cause is God. In his unfinished book Summa Theologiae, Aquinas put forward five ways for the existence of God. His first way is the argument from motion and by studying the works of Aristotle, the Greek Philosopher, he concluded from common observation that the planets, rolling stone or any object that is in motion is put in motion by other forces or object. From this theory, Aquinas believes there must have been an unmoved mover which is God who sets things in motion. It is certain and evident that in the world some things are set in motion. Whatever is in motion is put in motion by another. Therefore, by which it is put in motion must also be put in motion by another and by another again but this cannot go for infinity because ... Because whatever lacks in intelligence cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being with knowledge and intelligence. This argument by Aquinas is suggesting that inanimate objects such as the planets could not have placed themselves into the orbits they have, because they lack the intelligence to do so. His attitude toward crime involved taking no chances, and he became known for cracking the long barrel of his Colt over the heads of offenders, a good solution to avoid a fatality, and for delivering the perpetrator into prison. Wyatt loved to disturb the peace when a member of the town became disorderly.
