What Does It Mean To Be A Leader
My Vision at LeaderShape`s Institute Program and My Goals There is a belief that leaders are
born not made. I don`t agree with this idea because I believe that leadership can be learned.
Furthermore, leader is born to be made. So I can say that LeaderShape`s Institute program, which
helps and supports the nation in a unique way teaches leadershipknowledge and skill. By joining the
training program, I tried to focus on developing my skills to be a leader. First, I intended to learn
how to develop leadership skill which is powerful in today`s business environment and our general
community involvement. In the business environment, we need leaders that have a strong
commitment to be successful for the projects or goals as well. Sometimes, the goals can be
changed and the projects are cancelled or be unsuccessful, but leaders should be there to continue
handling the situations. So, I focused on learning how to take my leadership position and
requirements from a general to specific one which can be also changeable, depending on the
environment and conditions.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point, I need to learn and improve the methods how I can influence the people to reach
the goals together. There are some people that we can take as an example such as Marian Wright
Edelman who is a founder of the Children s Defense Fund , a civil rights pioneer and a crusader
on behalf of children, and Mike Feinberg Dave Levin who are raising educational expectations in
underserved communities, founder of the Knowledge Is Power Program . So, I offered to invite
such kind of renowned leaders to the University of Houston Downtown (UHD) campus to share
their unique experience and educate our

Representation Of Identity Formation
Through a qualitative comparative literature approach studies the representation of identity
formation on the work of transnational writers Reyna Grande and Sandra Cisneros. I introduce the
framework of liminality to understand identity formation of transnational individuals. Transnational
and diasporic identities have been understood as the incorporation of multiple geographical sources
of identity, inclusive of locations on both sides of the border and having multiple homes (Szeghi
2014:163). While this is true, this definition does not address the disharmonies, sense of alienation
and/or identity conflicts that the incorporation of multiple geographic locations that
transnationalism can provoke to individuals belonging to the less privilege

Sentencing For Drug Offenders Should Be Lenient
Sentencing for drug offenders can be somewhat lenient or harsh depending upon what drug was
involved in the arrest and who the violator is; meaning if the violator is an adult or a juvenile. In
Crime state rankings 2010: Crime across America, the percent of the population who are illicit
drugs users for Virginia was 8.2%, ranking twenty fourth on that list and the national percent was
8.1% of the population in 2007 (Morgan, K. O. L., Morgan, S., Santos, R. B. 2010). In Crimestate
rankings 2011: Crime across America, the percent of the population who are illicit drugusers for
Virginia was 7.3%, ranking thirty two on that list and the national percent was 8.0% of the
population in 2008 (Morgan, K. O. L., Morgan, S., Boba, R. 2011).... Show more content on

Sentencing Commission, which specify that between 1998 and 2002 over 300 defendants were
sentenced annually under the guideline that boosted penalties for drug activity. Tools are very
limited when it comes to protecting certain locations and individuals from drug activities, there are
also no specific weapons against those who sell drugs in or around drug treatment centers. To
Avergun, the people that would sink that low as to target their trafficking activity at those with the
least ability to resist such offers, those are the people who deserve the most severe punishment. The
Department of Justice cannot and will not tolerate this conduct in America, and that is why they
stands firmly behind the intent of this legislation to increase the punishment meted out to drug
offenders. The Department of Justice supports mandatory minimum sentences in appropriate
circumstances, of course. Mandatory minimum sentencing statues can provide a level of uniformity
and predictability that regular sentencing procedures cannot. Mandatory minimum sentencing
discourages certain types of criminal behavior by broadcasting the potential consequences of
committing those offenses. They can also keep dangerous offenders in prison for long periods of
time, thereby increasing the public s safety. They also provide an important tool for prosecutors by
providing defendants with a convincing incentive, that by cooperating with

Reaction Paper On Shinobi
During the Genesis era the Shinobi franchise was among the most notable series produced by
SEGA. Two decades after its premiere Shinobi III is still considered a definite genre landmark,
delivering challenging Asia action, top notch level design and a soundtrack regarded as one of
video game history s finest.
Shinobi X, aka Shinobi Legions (US) / Shin Shinobi Den (JP), released in 1995, replaced the
drawn visuals with digi sprites technically reminiscent of the early Mortal Kombat titles. While it
stays close to the gameplay formula the Shinobi series is known for, few changes have been made,
the most obvious one being the abandonment of former installments protagonist Joe Musashi.
The story orbits around Sho and his evil brother Kazuma. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For a game released some 20 years ago it looks fantastic! Frankly, the digitized sprites could have
benefited from a higher resolution, but scrolling is smooth and the backgrounds, while merely 2D
drawings, manage to create an immersive atmosphere, matching the varying settings of the stages.
As full motion video was THE thing back in the 90s, the stages are wired together by amazingly
ridiculous real action scenes, featuring B cast actors and laughable special effects. They are greatly
entertaining though (in fact one of the reasons to own this game!) and give you a little insight on
what s cookin with the story.
Shinobi X is also easily the most violent entry in series, complete with blood spills and antagonists
being split ahalf.
The music however, while decently arranged and exciting enough to get you pumped during boss
encounters, doesn t reach the level of the Shinobi III tunes, which have become somewhat
legendary. The US and European versions of Shinobi X have different soundtracks. I am referring
to the unaltered US one, which is the same as the Japanese release.
While many SEGA enthusiasts will likely award Shinobi III as their favorite episode, Shinobi X
delivers enough gameplay and presentation goodness to be considered a must have title for Saturn

Fashion Modeling Career
The career I would like to learn in my future is being in the fashion model industry. Choosing this
career took place when I walked in the Victoria Secret underwear store I would spot the wide
screens and the fashion models wearing all the clothes and underwear on. In my point of view, this
would be a great future for myself since I m confident and I have those great personalities I am
great with people and I can put myself into character in the show and I believe I have an attractive
shaped for the clothes. I ask myself if I were able to make it, I would literally be great full and will
retain me from bad people and food for my health. In my perspective, this would be a surprising
career for me and my family. They pay very well and I would like to make my dreams come true
and be proud receiving my own money. General description of duties and responsibilities First of
all, a modelingcareer is all about representing famous new clothes and traveling the world.
Choosing this career was unbelievable because I walked through the store ВЁVictoria SecretВЁ
and I would look at the models, modeling clothes and underwear and in that moment I thought
about that career. Some duties I would need to accomplish are dedicating time and keeping a nice
body shape to fit the clothes without any problem. Another two are having confidence and keeping
a strong mind. One responsibility is being able to travel because thatВґs very important to visit

Essay On African Americans In The 20th Century
The 20th Century presented its own problems and temporary solutions for Blacks. Those years
impacted all Blacks, male and female, northerner and southerner, soldier and civilian. Migration,
military service, racial violence, and political protest combined to make the 20th century one of the
most dynamic periods of the Black experience. Black people contested the boundaries of American
democracy, demanded their rights as American citizens, and asserted their very humanity in ways
both subtle and dramatic. Let s walk through this century together as we take it one episode at a
time.
World War I (1914 1918)
While the Great War raged in Europe for three long years, America stead a neutral country. It was
not until April of 1917, that President Wilson asked Congress to declare war on Germany.
Americans swung into action to raise, equip, and ship the American Expeditionary Force to the
trenches of Europe. America reasons for entering the were both political and economical;

Chemistry In The 1800 s
The studies of chemistry and physics have shaped understanding of the world today. In fact, they
have altered the mindset and reasoning of society, leading to an age in which discoveries are
consistently being sought after and achieved. However, it must be noted that the origin for the
basis of understanding used today in fields such as chemistryderived almost entirely from the
scientists of the 1800 s. In this thorough and precise essay, the incubator for some of the world s
most innovative researchers and pioneers in chemistry and physicswill be discussed the Cavendish
Laboratory. In the late 1800 s, specifically June 16th, 1874, the Cavendish Laboratory of
Cambridge University in the United Kingdom was opened due to William Cavendish,... Show more

To answer this, one does not have to look far as the Cavendish Laboratory is rather open with
current projects. For example, Nanophotonics, which is the study of the conduct of light on the
nanometer scale and its interactions, is an ongoing study at the Cavendish Laboratory
(NanoPhotonics, n.d., para. 1). Specifically, the NanoPhotonics Group (NP) is looking into nano
plasmonics, polymer photonic crystals, semiconductor microcavities, et cetera (NanoPhotonics,
n.d., para. 2). At this current time, it is rather difficult, as assembling nano chunks of matter into a
structure creates nano materials that have emergent properties, which are not found in their
constituents (NanoPhotonics, n.d., para. 3). Their goal is moving from expensive fabrication of
devices to elegant nano assembly in which materials build themselves (NanoPhotonics, n.d., para.
3). Overall this has a large reward if research is successful and actually leads towards a

Persuasive Speech On Aliens
After speaking with me a little, it doesn t take long to realize I am a giant nerd. I love Science

fast when I hear the words There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust
the picture. We are controlling transmission or Are you my mummy? Just thinking about it now
makes me a bit giddy.
Recently, I was very excited to be a part of a discussion on aliens. The topic was What if the
aliens were actually watching us? Even further, what if they were watching us and judging us
based on how we treat people with disabilities. Perhaps that s why aliens haven t communicated
with us. Why people with disabilities though? Think about it. People with disabilities are an
incredibly diverse community. Anyone can be disabled. Race, wealth, age... none of it is a factor in

uses a limited amount of noises and physical gestures to communicate. Author Temple Grandin
mentioned in an interview that she loved the character of Mr. Spock because his ability to act

While the show was airing, Leonard Nimoy was often applauded for his character s parallels to

The Diary Of A Teenage Girl
The film version of Diary of a Teenage Girl, rather than condemning patriarchal privilege and its
attendant exploitations as the book does, is instead a very careful take on a young s girl s
exploration of her sexuality. The film and the book share the same premise but ultimately differ
on delivery due to their inherently different approaches to capturing Minnie s life as her and the
other characters are portrayed differently, so much so that is a cautious take on an otherwise un
barred novel. Rather than touching upon patriarchal privilege and its exploitations, the film
smooths over many of the more intense aspects in order to create a happy ending for itself,
which is fundamentally different than what the book intended. The Diary of a Teenage Girl is
based on the popular graphic novel by Phoebe Gloeckner published in 2002 and written as well
as directed by Marielle Heller. They follow the life of Minnie (Bew Powley), who is 15 years
old, in San Franciso in the year 1976. She lives with her single mother (Kristin Wiig) and
younger sister. Monroe (Alexander Skarsgard), is her mother s 35 year old boyfriend, and the
two of them carry on a secret sexual relationship. In the book, the text speaks for Minnie in ways
that she cannot speak for herself which leaves the reader to fill in the gaps; however, viewers get
no sense of this in the film, where what happens is taken at surface value. Patriarchal control of the
men in her life, such as Pascal and Munroe, still

However, all three were persevering through the hardships that took place during their mission
of looking for a better life for others and themselves. Farah Ahmedi s mission was to get across
the Pakistani border with her mother. As Farah tried to get across the border she realized that
there was no way out, The gate to Pakistan was closed. My mother was clutching her side trying

guards had clubs, and carbines [...] which they used as weapons (Para 2). When people that are
supposed to protect a country, are using weapons against that country, then that is an immediate
clue that it is a dangerous place. They don t want to get beaten to death or injured so they try to flee
the country like many others. Farrah and her mother were successful in completing the mission
after using a different path. The author states, It works.

Adjusting Entries
Adjusting Entries Examples Let s work with some examples. We are working with a one year
accounting period that ends on 12/31/X2. Let s use a three step process. Step 1 Analyze the
transaction. Step 2 Record in the journal. Step 3 Post to the ledger. Example 1: On 12/31/X2
(before the adjusting process), Supplies, an asset, has a balance of $2,500. Employees take a
physical account of the supplies on hand. That physical count reveals that $1,200 of supplies
remains. Step 1 ‐‐ The balance of Supplies before the adjusting entry is $2,500. Subtract the
amount determined during the physical count ($1,200). The result ($1,300) represents the amount

Example 4: On 7/25/X2, a law firm and its client sign a contract and the client pays $8,400 cash.
The contract states the law firm will provide monthly legal services for 12 months, beginning on
8/1/X2. A regular journal entry is needed on 7/25/X2 debit Cash and credit Unearned Revenue
for $8,400. On 12/31/X2, an adjusting journal entry is needed to record the amount of revenue
that has been earned. The entry also results in the correct balance of the liability account as of 12
/31/X2. Computation: $8,400 divided by 12 months equals $700 per month. $700 times 5
months (Aug Dec) equals $3,500. $3,500 has now been earned. This complies with the revenue
recognition principle record revenue when it is earned. The liability is reduced because the
services have been provided for 5 months. Liabilities Unearned Revenue is decreased.
Stockholders Equity Legal Fees Earned is increased. The journal entry includes a debit to
Unearned Revenue and a credit to Legal Fees Earned for $3,500 When the debit of $3,500 is
posted to Unearned Revenue, the ending balance will be correct ($8,400 less $3,500). Legal Fees
Earned goes to the Income Statement. Example 5: On 12/31/X2, the accountant questions the
managers and discovers that revenue of $12,500 has been earned (the services have been
provided) but the clients have not yet been billed. This is an accrual of revenue. Revenue has been

Relationship Between William And Dorothy Wordsworth
William and Dorothy Wordsworths literary relationship has many different aspects to it but
Dorothy was never as famous as her brother. By using feminist theory we can truly understand their
relationship between the brother and sister and the linking in their writings. By looking at William
s poem I wandered lonely as a cloudwhich is also known as The daffodils and Dorothy s Grasmere
Journal a deep connection is also shown. Both William and his sister Dorothy were great writers,
but William seemed to have out shone his sister. By using feminist theory one might see exactly
why William received more fame than his sister. One might also see why William got this fame by
using historical criticism. By using these two particular schools of... Show more content on

It is clear that the two were in the field that day and they both saw very similar things which the
also interpreted very similarly. When we compare William s poem and Dorothy s journal we
can see both comparisons and contrasts between the texts. The different comparisons we see
may help us understand why Dorothy did not achieve such fame as her brother had. Dorothy s
description of the text is very natural as she is simply describing what she saw and how she saw
it then and there. When she first saw the daffodils she simply says When we were in the woods
beyond Gowbarrow park we saw a few daffodils close to the water side. We fancied that the lake
had floated the seeds ashore and that the little colony had so sprung up. (Journals of Dorothy
Wordsworth: The Alfoxden Journal 1798, The Grasmere Journals 1800 1803). When William
describes the field full of Daffodils he uses a great deal of description to emphasis the beauty of
the flowers and to make it clear about how he felt. In contrast to Dorothy s initial reaction to the
daffodils William says When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the
lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. (William Wordsworth, I wandered
lonely as a cloud , 1807). It is clear that that William and Dorothy had very different writing
techniques. Dorothy has a plain and simple flow to her writings whereas William has a dramatic
and descriptive style. This is a clear contrast between the two

Meher Baba Silence Essay
Having seen Meher Baba s observations and reasons for his silence through his own words, now
one can see some interesting observations made by individuals who were close to Meher Baba in
the Interpretations of Meher Baba Silence Eruch recalls that very often people used to ask about
Meher Baba s long silence. Most frequented question was when He intended to break it. As if
answering to this question, one day in 1954 in answer, He just stopped using His alphabet board

In silence one can get clarity about one s visions and wishes, one s patterns of thinking and
feeling and how one acts in one s world. Silence can be a tool which helps one know and
experience fully who am I and what one s purpose in life is. In the modern world there is hardly
ever complete silence. People also avoid silence and even seem to be afraid of it. There is
always some background noise, whether that is traffic, music or a TV. It is difficult for some of
us to be in silence because it so clearly brings us face to face with our own identity. This becomes
awkward because so often one plays a role and is embarrassed or ashamed to face the real one.
One is not in peace with oneself so one tries to keep the mind busy with different kinds of input
so that one does not have to think of who am I . Speech is the biggest consumer of one s energy,
the easiest way of dissipating one energy. When talking one uses a lot more oxygen than when
one is in silence. Excessive talking causes energy burnout and mind gets overheated which then in
turn has effects on one s reactions. One becomes angry and impatient due to which one is not able
to act calmly, coolly or rationally anymore. Also listening to people who talk a lot takes a lot of

The s Resistance Army By Joseph Kony
Some of the basic human rights we see as children of the United States are not guaranteed
everywhere. One example of this would be the oppressing of children in Uganda. As more and
more children were enslaved by the Lord s Resistance Army, led by Joseph Kony, the Invisible
Children was founded to raise awareness through their campaign of Kony 2012. After eight years
of campaigning against the Lord s Resistance Army, the Invisible Children posted a video titled
Kony 2012. It began as an experiment, but with over 100 million views in only six days, the
infamous Joseph Kony went from an obscure villain to world known criminal. The campaign
reached its goal in April of 2012, when President Barack Obama announced that he would reignite
the United State s mission to help the African Union in stopping LRA violence. Who is the Lord s
Resistance Army? The LRA is a rebel Christian cult that has terrorized Ugandafor nearly thirty
years. In 1986, the LRA began as an evolution of the Holy Spirit Movement. Led by Alice
Lakwena, the Holy Spirit Movement was a rebellion against the oppression of North Uganda by
their president, Yoweri Museveni.(invisible children, 2014) Claiming that she was possessed by
the spirit of a long dead Italian soldier, Lakwena was seen unfit to remain the leader of the Holy
Spirit Movement. When she was exiled in 1987, Joseph Kony, her supposed cousin, took over the
group, renaming it the Lord s Resistance Army. With hopes of bringing down the Ugandan

Causes Of Illegal Immigration From El Salvador
Illegal immigration is a big problem in America, and it is very hard to solve. These immigrants
are coming into America for many different reasons. The main immigrants into America are from
Mexico, but many do come from El Salvador too. Some immigrants like economic migrants,
come to America because of job availability and more money. For example, in Mexico poverty
and unemployment is a major problem, and by 2012 55.3 million out of 120 million were poor.
The majority of the Mexican population are farmers, and they live in rural areas with very
extreme temperatures and the poor quality land makes it hard to actually farm. This culture
causses struggle for these Mexican families. Due to these high unemployment and poverty rates
they migrate to America in order to support their family and further retain a reasonable standard
of living. Another reason Mexicans will come into America is because they are fleeing violence.
In Mexico, there is very high crime rates, and homicide rates are around 10 14 per 100,000
people. With drugs, in the past 5 years, more than 47, 500 have been killed. Therefore, a reason
some Mexicans will come to America is because of the lower crime rates, and having a more
reliable and stable home to live. Additionally, we see this reason of migration from immigrants
from El Salvador. In El Salvador, there are many crimes and violence gangs. It is the murder
capital in the world, with nearly one homicide per hour in the first three months of 2016. Its

Mountain Men from the North American Rock Mountains
Mountain men were most common in the North American Rocky Mountains from about 1810
through the 1880s (with a peak population in the early 1840s). Approximately 3,000 mountain
men ranged the mountains between 1820 and 1840, the peak beaver harvesting period. While
there were many free trappers, most mountain men were employed by major fur companies. The
life of a company man was almost militarized. The men had mess groups, hunted and trapped
inbrigades and always reported to the head of the trapping party. This man was called a boosway ,
a bastardization of the French term bourgeoisie. He was the leader of the brigade and the head

theRocky Mountain Fur Company, whose company representatives would haul supplies to specific
mountain locations in the spring, engage in trading with trappers, and bring pelts back to
communities on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers in the fall. Ashley sold his business to the
outfit of Jackson and Sublette. He continued to earn revenue by selling that firm their supplies. This
system of rendezvous with trappers continued when other firms, particularly the American Fur
Company owned by John Jacob Astor, entered the field.
The annual rendezvous was often held at Horse Creek on the Green River, now called the Upper

Cultural Heritage And Cultural Culture
Cultural heritage is a testimony to reflect the distinctiveness of a place made by human (English
Heritage, 2009; United Nations of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage
Centre [WHC], 2008). According to Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (n.d.), Macau has a wealth of
cultural heritage which illustrates the interchange between China and the West such as knowledge,
religions, and social trends. Thus, Macau is listed as Historic Centre of Macau in the World
Heritage List since there is a significant number of cultural heritage built in western style as well as
local style in China. (Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, n.d.). In 2014, tourist arrival amounts to
31,525,632 and total spending of visitors is MOP 61.75 billion (Documentation and Information
Centre of Statistics and Census Service, 2015). As a result, cultural tourism promotes the growth of
the economy as the well as the living environment. Therefore, the essay examines the importance of
place identity in heritage conservation and some benefits of cultural tourism. Then, it reflects some
challenges in the sustainability of heritage management. Finally, it explains how community
engagement contributes the viability of heritage conservation. Heritage conservation illustrates the
place diversity of the place which convinces the community to recognise their place identity.
According to the World Heritage Centre (2008), the preservation of heritage inspires people with
creativity as well as innovation.

Analysis Of The Movie From Osage County
August: Osage County starts out in a rough, dry plain in Oklahoma. Beverly and Violet are the
parents of three daughters Barbara, Ivy, and Karen. After Barbara and Karen left, leaving Ivy to
tend to their parents, Beverly and Violet turned to booze and drugs to get through their miserable
days. After the disappearance of Beverly, Barbara returned to her parent s home with her husband
and daughter. The death and funeral of their father brought the three sisters home to their mother,
who thanks to the pills she is taking, caused her to have an acid tongue, and inevitable everyone s
deepest darkest secrets come out causing the whole familyto fall apart. The unhealthy trait Beverly
possessed was drinking. He drank away his problems or so he thought. Ultimately, his drinking lead
to his death. Violet, on the other hand, had multiple unhealthy traits that surfaced throughout the
entire movie. Violet, who was suffering from mouth cancer, turned to drugs to get through all of her
heartache and pain. Due to her addiction, her foul mouth grew worse. Violet s foul mouth and
Beverly s drinking led to some serious communication problems. They could not pick up on serious
points within the conversation and their communication appeared to be more like mockery between
the two. This type of communication in not healthy. A healthy relationship s communication allows
them to support, understand, and empathize with whom they are speaking too. However, Violet

History Of Hotel Lodging
Hotel and lodging sector is one of the oldest parts that make up the hospitality industry. The origins
of the industry can be traced to the earliest of times known to mankind. The history of hotels is
intimately connected to that of civilizations; facilities offering guests hospitality have been in
evidence since early biblical times (Levy Bonvin, 2003, para.1). While the most ancient hotels did
not have all the modern amenities that consumers have become accustomed to receiving when
frequenting the various hotelbrands and companies, the ancient hotels helped create the industry
that is still growing and evolving today.
At the start of the hotel industry, there was not of actual facilities that would resemble the hotels
that consumer is accustomed to seeing nowadays. Many of the accommodations offered to
travelers where bare bones, and the providers of the lodging were mostly concerned with
providing a safe place for the travelers to rest in between major outposts for a civilization that didn
t have the modern transportation methods. The modern ease of traveling was not afforded to the
customers of that time, which meant that the act of traveling from one city to another was very
hazardous. Travelling during that time was progressively more hazardous, which helped to spur the
gradual appearance of inns across much of Europe (Levy Bonvin, 2003, para.5). Thus, the start of
the industry revolved around offering a safe resting spot for the newfound travelers

1963 Lord Of The Flies
The 1963 Lord of the Flies personally shaped my interpreteation of the wider world greatly and in
many ways during its insightful representation of society. The first meaning I found in the 1963
film was the correlation between education and societal stability the film presented the idea that
the more uneducated or closed minded a civilisaiton is, the worse off, or unstable, the civilisation
becomes. The film also presented aspects of the true nature of the human condition, highlighting
the differences between mankind s often hidden inner savagery which is thankfully repressed in
modern society, which is of the utmost relevancy in the real world and can be said to be the root
cause of thousands of years of conflict, as some societies allow... Show more content on

This problem is particularly important to recognise in children, where skills such as affective
empathy and perspective talking do not fully develop until as late as age 14. The film presented a
situation where this problem was completely unmandated, eventually spiraling out of control due to
the lack of the greater guidance of the more developed thinkers such as adults. With nobody to
mandate the children, murder eventually took place. Some argue that The Lord of the Flies is
fictional, and the lessons about mankind s savage nature it teaches cannot be realistically connected
to real life it is not logical to judge the savagery of real people based on fictional characters.
However, there are plenty of real life examples of similar if not, more savage violence happening
in real life due to either the misguidance or lack of guidance from adults. During just the start of
this year, in an environement shockingly similar to that of the film, an eight year old child
willfully chose to execute a 30 year old man while his father watched, smiling to him after he was
finished, while he smiled back. This morbid but exceedingly important message conveyed in the
Lord of the Flies film meant many things to me. First of all, it helped explain to me how
important a childhood where compassionate values, which empathy is a gateway to, is to the
development of a person. It made me realise that it is essential to stigmatise bad actions such as
murder and theft in a society, as the film has taught me that these good traits do not come naturally,
and that they need to be taught. Alternatively, it also helped me realise that evil ways of thinking
can be taught just as easily into a

How To Break A Dragged Skin
Brushes of various sorts are excellent on bare skin, especially when the submissive is
blindfolded. For example, a soft brush such as a shaving or makeup brush can be alternated with
a stiff brush such as a toothbrush on breasts, nipples, thighs, sides, and so on. An electric
toothbrush makes a wonderful sex toy when used on a clitoris... A bamboo skewer of the type
used in the kitchen is quite an interesting sensation toy when it s used on a bound and
blindfolded person. Dragged slowly and with moderate pressure over the skin, it feels much
sharper than it is; used on sensitive areas like nipples and breasts, you can make someone
believe you re actually piercing the skin with a needle, even though the skewer is blunt and won t

Since electricity is a natural force it didn t have to be invented. It did have to be discovered and
understood. Most people give credit to Benjamin Franklin for discovering electricity from his
experiment when storm clouds transferred to the kite and electricity flowed down the string and
gave him a shock. He s lucky that he didn t get hurt, but he didn t mind the shock since it proved
his idea. But was Benjamin Franklin really the first person to discover electricity? Maybe not! At the
turn of the 17th century, English scientist William Gilbert established the science underlying the
study of electricity and magnetism. Inspired by Gilbert s work, another Englishman, Sir Thomas

The article Cockpit Controls Now Available As a Wrist Tablet and Mega Helmet written by
Rebecca Boyle describes a new full length cockpit command mechanism controlled through a
touch screen and an all seeing helmet. The innovation is a pilot commanding tablet that
supervises all the controls in the cockpit, also the helmet that creates a full angled view through
a glass screen on the helmet in front of the eyes. Boyle writes Equipped with a huge helmet and a
handy wrist attached device, future fighter pilots will have maps, surround sound, radar and
infrared vision all at their fingertips even when they re outside the cockpit. (Boyle par 1) In other
words, the author is saying that each soldier will have access and use of all command control
technology at the swipe of a finger or touch even when they re not inside of the fighter jet as long
as they have the full angled helmet and touch screen device on them. This is significant because it
makes everything so much more easier for the soldier and less dependent on movement to use the
control panel rather than touching a touch screen placed on their wrist. Also this is significant
because the helmet is giving them a full length view 360 degrees. If the United States military was
to implement this technology in every soldier pilots jet fighter than the military would have no

they would not do in the novel. Oprah Winfrey purposely took out characters in her movie to
remove the black on black racism and placed the typical white man to be racist. Zora Neale Hurston

Trauma Reflection
Rebecca Frey, in her article Trauma, defines the term trauma in two different ways. The first idea of
trauma is used in the physical sense, to mean a tangible injury on one s body, while the second idea
of trauma is used to mean damage to the mind and emotions resulting from a single event or series
of experiences. She mentions that trauma is usually caused by an overwhelming experience that
affects one s capability to cope with the memories and the feelings that they connect to the specific
traumatic event. Typical symptoms for experiences of trauma include: changes in typical behavioral
acts, complete withdrawal from social situations, pacing and agitated muscle movements,
difficulties functioning cognitively, nightmares and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While trauma itself does not necessarily lead to these sufferings, those who have experienced a
traumatic event could possibly experience a trauma disorder, which will include many of the above
mentioned symptoms. Frey identifies disorders like Post traumatic Stress Disorder, Acute Stress
Disorder, and Complex Traumatic Stress Disorder, as possible causes for many of those
sufferings. Shockingly, Frey mentions how somewhere between 50% and 90% of all North
Americans will experience a traumatic experience in their life, but only 7% 8% of people in
North America will ever develop Post traumatic Stress Disorder. It is important to note, however,
that Post traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is only one type of trauma/stress disorder, and there
are many more disorders that those survivors could potentially develop. Bipolar affective disorder:
John Harris and Vicky White describe Bipolar affective disorder, more commonly referred to as
bipolar disorder, as a mood disorder that is distinguished through a cycling between manic, or high ,
and depressed, or low , moods. Dr. Raymond Leung describes mania as a persistent elation in mood
and increase[s] in energy levels for at least one week and depression as a low mood and [a] loss of
interest or pleasure in most activities for at least 2 weeks . There is oftentimes a period of relative

Internet
It is important to know the history of the internet. The internet is a worldwide network of computer
systems that are connected to each other by cables (Howe, 2012). The internet first started out as a
military experiment. In 1957, the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) was created by the
United States department of Defense (Computer History Museum, 2004). The project was started
after the Russians launched a satellite into space for communication reasons. The satellite was
called SPUTNIK (Computer History Museum, 2004). It was rumored that President Eisenhower
got worried and decided to get the United States to launch its own satellite. They recruited Dr.
Joseph C. Licklider of MIT, was made head of the Information Processing Techniques Office
(IPTO)(Computer History Museum, 2004). Their purpose of the project was to focus on improving
the military use of computer information.

The Ancestor s Tale By Richard Dawkins Essay
Thylacinus had stripes like a tiger, body like a dog, and a pouch like a kangaroo. They were
marsupials but behaved more like wolves than marsupials (which makes them an excellent example
of convergent evolution). They became extinct in Australia and New Guinea because of their
incompetence against the dingoes, an invasive species brought by the aboriginal men. Nevertheless,
some were left in Tasmania as the dingoes did not reach there, but died out soon after Europeans
arrived there.
Similar story includes the dodo s tale which is illustrated perfectly by Richard Dawkins in his book
The Ancestor s Tale: A Pilgrimage to the Dawn of Evolution When Portuguese sailors arrived on
Mauritius in 1507, the abundant dodos were completely tame, and approached the sailors in a
manner which cannot have been far from trusting . The unfortunate dodos were clubbed to death by
Portuguese, and later Dutch, sailors even though they were deemed unpalatable. Extinction took less
than two centuries. As so often, it came about through a combination of killing and more indirect
effects. Humans introduced dogs, pigs, rats, and religious refugees. The first three ate dodo eggs,
and the last planted sugar cane and destroyed habitats (Dawkins).
All the tales of these extinct species have one thing in common a species live in harmony in its
home until an invasive species destroy them, and humans are the antagonist in each story. The sick
thing is we are still in the middle of and part of

Why I Want To Pursue A Master Of Science Degree
Education is not preparation for life; Education is life for itself.
These are the words of John Dewey, which have led an everlasting impression on my mind. It
relates to the idea of lifelong learning, and the knowledge that education is much more than what
lies within the curriculum. Whenever I pause by to reflect on my ken of knowledge, I feel that how
little I have learnt and that an enormous, unknown and fascinating wealth of knowledge lies before
me, yet to be explored. Education is like an edifice based on strong rudiments and strengthened by
the fundamentals and practical skills acquired during one s lifetime. So my main goal is to design
the next generation innovations in field rather than being just a user of existing technologies and
findings. So I intend to pursue Master of Science degree in Automotive software Engineering at
your university as the first step towards obtaining a PHD.
Nothing is Impossible in Life has always been a motivating force behind all my achievements. I
strongly believe that enjoy what we do and having the passion to pursue, we can ultimately achieve
our destination, no matter how much efforts are needed. My inherent urge and interest to pursue
engineering emanates from an instinctive inclination for Physics and Mathematics since my
schooling. From early childhood, I was very captivated with electronic appliances around me. I
would ask my parents about their principle of working. I always tried to find out what basic

The Aryan National Liberation Front
Arthur Buzz Hirsch, a St. Joseph News Press reporter, conducted a background investigation on
the Aryan National Liberation Front (ANLF). This group is one of white supremacist and anti
government ideology. This group, according to confidential sources, is involved in harassment
and tax evasion. Two incidents, a bombing on February 12th (which two men have been arrested
for) and a shooting that took place on March 10th, are believed to be connected to the ANLF.
However, a confidential sources says the ANLF has nothing to do with the shooting. Recently,
police and a member of the prosecutor s office showed up at the News Press offices with a
warrant, demanding Hirsch to turn over all notes, research materials, and recordings relating to the
ANLF. Also, he was urged to identify his sources. Hirsch refused to do both. Whether or not the
prosecuting office can demand Hirsch to turn over any information depends on court precedents
and current laws. In Branzburg v. Hayes (1972), the Supreme Court decided the First Amendment
did not grant reportorial privilege in the court. This means journalists and other members of the
press cannot use freedom of speech as a defense in order to not testify. This includes if a source
was meant to be confidential. Lower courts interpreted Branzburg differently. In the case of
Branzburg, reportorial privilege was unnecessary. Later with Zerilli v. Smith (1981), the D.C.
Circuit Court of Appeals concluded that reportorial privilege existed.

Losing his sense of comfort he was so use to having. To further understand, he incorporates the
simple fact of the radio. Regardless of one s mood, the radio is a source people rely on to deal
with mental stresses. Music helps bring people out of a funk. It helps them feel what is needed to

Claude Mckay Meaning
Claude McKay wrote the poem, I Know My Soul in an effort to make his readers reach deep
inside and see the true being in which they are. We all are filled with certain passions and certain
desires, but sometimes we act as if we are not. We try to contain who we are because it doesn t
quite fit the mold of what society has so carelessly made for us. Clause challenges his audience
to reach deep within themselves and see who they are. The good, the bad, and the not so pretty
that is held within our beating hearts and scattered minds is what makes us who we are. We
were all so eloquently crafted to be different and we should know our own souls for that very
reason. No one human being was, or will ever be made the exact same way. Some of our desires...

drives him to do certain things. To examine one s soul means to question all of our desires and
every intention we have. Understanding our soul means we are able to see if we are good or
bad people. Claude McKay continues on and compares the soul to a star in the sky in order to
emphasize that the soul is bright like a star, visible to the naked eye, but it is exposed to so many
things. We generally keep our desires hidden within us, even from ourselves. When we question
ourselves about our thoughts then it is almost like we are exposing

The Pros And Cons Of Active Euthanasia
The American Medical Association states that passive euthanasia (letting die) is morally
permissible. However, active euthanasia (assisting patients die) is never morally permissible
because it s like killing the patient instead of letting the patient die naturally. Active euthanasia, is
taking a direct action to kill a patient and on the other hand, passive euthanasia, is withholding
treatments to let the patient die (letting die). Rachels (1975) disagrees with the American Medical
Association because he supports active euthanasia contrary to the position of this body. According
to Rachels, active euthanasia reduces the pain of the patients who would otherwise die even
without the injection. In other words, there are no significant differences between letting a person
die and killing a person, who will still perish in the end. Rachels refutes the claim of the American
Medical Association that does not support intentional termination of the life of the patient or what
is referred to as mercy killing. In her view, doctors only uphold their legal mandate by not engaging
in the mercy killing and ignoring their moralduty to ensure the patient die without pain. The doctors
only seek to avoid legal responsibility by letting the patient die instead of killing the patient.
Alternatively, passive euthanasia allows the patient to die naturally while the active one requires
the doctor to take action to terminate the life of the patient. As such, by allowing the patient to die,

The A Salami Cutter, The Rivals Of The Rga
L ike a salami cutter, the rivals of the RGA continued cutting away at its holdings outside of the
Children s Paradise, thin slice by thin slice. The regular crews and groups it had, in addition to
the recently formed Volksbesatzung and friendly BUG crews, could not stem the rising tide. For
the average RGA crew found itself going up against anywhere between five or six different
factions at once. This resulted in the RGA to being completed outnumbered. Yet despite being
outnumbered, coupled with critical shortages of vital resources continuing to hamper the RGA s
defensive measures by the end of October, it became apparent that something had to be done about
the shortages. Meanwhile, during the early weeks of the 2015 2016 school year,... Show more

But after being contacted by Adelburgers Voss and Schäffer about the possibility of doing a

last piece of advice the Nebraskan Dutchman gave them. Siegfried eventually agreed with Brenda;

English Language Learners For My Assessment
Profile
The intended English language learners for my assessment would be primary aged students who
are at the beginning level, according to WIDA. Primary aged students are students in kindergarten
through grade 2, and WIDA describes students as beginning if they (a) understand and speak
conversational and academic English with hesitancy and difficulty, (b) understand parts of lessons
and simple directions, and (c) are at a pre emergent or emergent level of reading and writing in
English, significantly below grade level. (http://ell.dpi.wi.gov/sites/default/files/imce/ell/pdf/elp
levels.pdf). Although my students would be young, they could be classified as significantly below
grade level if they cannot identify letters and perform poorly on the kindergarten screening and
running records. Most ELL students at this age are not literate in their native language, which may
make learning English literacy more difficult.
Rationale
The test I designed I could currently use with some of the students in my classes. I teach
kindergarten and first grade English Language Arts and Social Studies and we have a moderate
number of immigrant students whose parents do not speak English. Although we do not have an
ESL program, our bilingual program draws many native Spanish speaking students to our school
because their families want them to maintain their Spanish. We also have immigrant students from
other countries, such as Middle Eastern and African countries. This exam covers some of

Crazy Stupid Love Analysis
Crazy Stupid Love is about a man named Cal Waver, who finds out through dinner with his wife,
that she not only wants a divorce, but she cheated on him as well. Cal starts the moving on
process by spending his days/nights at a bar drinking. He then meets a man named Jacob Palmer
(a womanizer), who then offers to help Cal rediscover his manhood. Cal resisted the idea at first,
but then asks Jacob why would he help a guy he does not even know, and Jacob goes on the say,
Maybe you remind me of someone. Soon After, Jacob takes over Cal s wardrobe and throws out
most of Cal s clothes, and gives Cal a makeover. Cal s streak of only having sexual intercourse with

Later in the movie, after Hanna passed her bar exam, She and her friend along with her
boyfriend are celebrating. Hanna then expected her boyfriend to propose, but instead he offers
her a job at his place of work. Hannah then breaks up with him and goes to find the hot guy from
the bar, in which she orders him to take her home. Hanna goes back to Jacob s house initially to
have revenge sex, but instead they spend the night talking, and laughing. Hanna then asks Jacob
about his mother. Jacob goes on to explain that she was, beautiful and smart, was cold and vain.
He then starts talking about his father and explained that he died a long time ago, but he was a
smart, businessman. Jacob then goes on to talk about his father and says, but he was soft, just too
soft too sensitive, and you know he couldn t handle my mother. One can assume that Jacob s
father expressed feminine traits that are called Expressive traits, because of the emotional and
social skills that Jacob expressed how his father was when he was alive. On the other hand, Jacob
s mother expressed masculine traits that are called Instrumental traits, therefore, she was opposite
then Jacobs father, in which she was more task oriented. Although it was not said, one can assume
that Jacob holds some resentment towards his mother for his fathers death, therefore, the reason
why he treats women the way he does, and the person who Cal reminded Jacob of in the beginning

Women s Suffrage In The Film Iron Jawed Angels
Iron Jawed Angels is a movie that is based on the history of women s suffrage leading up to the 19th
Amendment, allowing women to vote. Two of the main characters portrayed were Alice Paul and
Lucy Burns, two women s suffrage supports. The movie showed the struggle women went through
to earn the right to vote. Some of this includes picketing, abuse, imprisonment, and hunger strikes.
But that wasn t all. These women separated from the National American Woman Suffrage
Association (NAWSA) after the leaders, Carrie Chapman Catta and Anna Howard, wanted an
investigation done since Alice and Lucy didn t forward their funds to NAWSA. They created their
own organization, National Woman s Party (NWP). Although these women faced a plethora of
obstacles, they persevered and gain the right for women to vote.... Show more content on

During the parade, the police just stood by and watched as women were beaten. Then it happened
again during the picketing in front of the White House. The police arrested the women, but did
nothing to the men that were punching, hitting, and spitting on them. It was appalling. No human
deserves that type of treatment under any circumstance. On the other hand, their determination
was inspiring. These women faced so many people who were fighting against them; but they
continued to get up every morning and face the same thing over again. They had to have been
very resilient to face so much backlash and continue to fight. One of my favorite parts of the
movie was during the parade, when Inez Milholland rode in on a horse with the white cape. She
looked very powerful, and even more importantly, she was strong and determined. She was a great

Lean And Six Sigma
Introduction
Efficiency and effectiveness are two key terms in business, no matter the industry a company
activates in, as measuring firm strategy and performance has become more and more critical
nowadays. All organizations seek to achieve both and this requires a whole range of tools and
resources. Efficiency relates to the degree to which an organization uses resources optimally in
order to provide its services (Ala, Carol, Joy, Aziz, 1993, p. 39), while effectiveness measures the
extent to which it provides appropriate services (Ibidem). Furthermore, being efficient means doing
things right . Being effective means to do the right things (Roberto, Carlo, Roland, 113, p. 429). It
is therefore quite likely that a company cannot do both simultaneously, and here the concepts of
lean thinking , Six Sigma management and even Lean Six Sigma arise. ... Show more content on

Fascism in the Twentieth Century
Fascism in the Twentieth Century; Hitler and Nazism
Fascism is one of the most controversial political terms in modern history. The lack of a
universally accepted definition for the term has meant that it can and has been applied to a wide
variety of political contexts. Fascism developed from the destruction caused by the First World
War. Its origins can be traced, however, to the intellectual revolt against liberalism in Europe at the
end of the nineteenth century. While there was a revolutionary reaction against the ideals of the
French Revolution before 1914, it was the First World War which acted as a real catalyst for the
emergence of fascism. The war swept away the Hohenzellern, Halsburg and Romanov dynasties in
Germany, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it was a complex procedure, Hitler proved himself to be both a skilled political
manipulator and an original military strategist. But above all, Hitler was a rabid ideologist. As a
result of his actions, the Hitler state destroyed the legacy of imperial and Weinmar Germany and
undermined the humane values of German culture.
Unlike in Italy, the rise of fascism in Germany occurred in one of the world s most advanced
economies, for the German modernisation and industrialisation process during the nineteenth
century had helped to create a powerful state. Political extremism in Germany developed further
from the failure of the state and society to manage the complex problems arising from the country s
sudden defeat at the end of the First World War in 1918.
Although the First World War created the necessary conditions to enable the rise of Nazism
,
Nazi ideology was derived from the intellectual and political underworld of pre 1914 Germany.
Before 1914, this far right ideology which was heavily focused on anti Semitism, remained on the
political fringe and had little influence on domestic policies. Hitler himself, for example, although
later greatly influenced by the Austrian anti Semitism of Karl Leuger (1844 1910), was a failed art
student and architect whose personal apathy prevented him from enjoying the bourgeois (upper
class) lifestyle that he craved. He, like other failures in the German and Austro Hungarian empires,
found in anti Semitism a

Personal Statement For The Greek Debt Crisis
Debt is a problem that everyone fears. When a person owes money to someone else, you are in
fear, worry and pain. The biggest debt crisis I witnessed was the Greek debt crisis. It started back
in 2009 and continues now. The problem is rooted back to when the Greek government borrowed
money from external sources on a regular basis to pay for unproductive government projects and
luxurious social welfare schemes for its people and came to a point where the Greek government
could not pay back their loans and all their expenditures after the global financial crisisin 2008.
When I first read about the crisis, I became interested. I researched and slowly understood the
basics of economics and financeand how captivating it was. At that time, I had a mindset that my
career path would be geared towards finance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These subjects exposed me to the business world and highlighted my interest and strengths in each
of those subjects. I started leaning towards Accounting and Finance after learning Accounting and
realising how important accounting is to a nation. I learned that the debt crisis in Greece was a
result of insufficient high quality government financial information. This motivated me to pursue
this degree so that I can assist Malaysia in boosting its economy and not making the mistakes of the
Greek government. Besides that, I also favored accounting because of my passion towards
mathematics and numbers. Throughout my schooling, I have always had a zeal for mathematics.
Since accounting revolves around numbers, mathematics and calculations, it is ideal for

Meaning Of Survival In The Story Of Keesh
Every day, people are surviving in extreme and extraordinary ways. There is an old folk tale
called The Story of Keesh, that is an important statement on survival. It is about a young boy in a
struggling community in Antarctica. Where getting through each day is a struggle, it is a
surprise that young Keesh goes on from one the smallest igloos in the tribe to the man who had
the will to lead them all. There is another tale, that is as remarkable as the other. It is called Life
of Pi. In this tale, a boy finds himself in a bizarre situation. After the ship he was on sank, he is
stuck on a lifeboat, but with a bengal tiger. In this tale with a twist, the boy, Pi, really does come to
terms to what surviving really means. In The Story of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pi has to stay alive on a lifeboat. Ironically, on this lifeboat he is stuck with a ferocious,
hazardous, Bengal tiger. At first Pi s idea was the same as Keesh s village. To hunt, to eat, to
live. Pi s mind had come up with many different solutions on how to survive. Including a time
where he had to drink water, which he resourcefully succeeded in. It states, I looked over to the
gunnel. The tarpaulin hooks. Short, blunt, solid. I kneeled on the bench and leaned over.
Holding the can with both my hands, I sharply brought it up against a hook. A good dint. I did it
again...I sat back on the gunnel. I held the can up to my face. I opened my mouth. I tilted the
can (Martel 87.) Soon after, Pi loses himself mentally. He starts to lose hope. But another bright
moment where surviving is clearer is when he started to ration and take order of his food, a good
idea. I considered opening another carton, but I thought better of it. No harm in exercising a
little restraint... So I had water rations to last me 124 days, (Martel 90 91.) Along with that, Pi
was resourceful when trying to figure out if there was water. As it states, The divining rod in my
mind dipped sharply and a spring gushed water when I remembered I was on a genuine, regulation
lifeboat and that such a lifeboat was surely outfitted with supplies, (Martel 81.) But beside all this
small victories, Pi really does have a hard time, from physical health,

Being The Embodiment Of The Average Introvert
Being the embodiment of the average introvert hardly lessened the pressure of becoming
successful. Growing up in a household, where I would be the first generation in my family to
attend college brought challenges of their own. It was not until freshman year of college that I
realized how problematic my shyness and introversion would be. At Monmouth University, I was
fortunate enough to be accepted in the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program along with
39 other students. After the program had ended, I realized my reclusive personality came with a
high price. During the concluding ceremony, the student participants were recognized for their
hard work and accomplishments. When my name was called, I heard someone whisper, Who? I
don t know, another student murmured back. It did not occur to me that these students whom I
shared the summer with had no idea who I was. That night, I kept reliving what those students
said in my head. My refusal to publicly participate had limited my visibility to peers, and had
exposed my restricted social abilities. Since English is my second language, I have always felt
inferior to those who speak English as their primary language. The constant battle of not being good
enough nearly extinguished any hope I had of bettering myself. My parents migrated to the United
States in 1995, from their home country of Ecuador, and being born the child of unilingual parents
interfered with my academics and self confidence at a young age. Therefore,

The Different Aspects of Conflict in a Selection of Four War Poems
Many poems have been witnessed throughout history that show different views on war and the
glory and sacrifices made. Everyone was affected, from the men in the front lines to women and
children working back at home. Men involved in the war effort often wrote poems to record their
thoughts and feelings, or simply to pass the time. Poetry was an outlet through which they could
express great depth of meaning by condensing it into a few words. In this assignment I am going to
write about the war poems entitled The Charge of the Light Brigade , a poem written in 1854 by
Lord Alfred Tennyson, Dulce et Decorum est , a poem... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
England is personified as being a mother. Brooke s message in this poem is that if he should die,
the place of his death will be made richer by his body. The body will carry these English
blessings, passing them onto the ground on which it lies. Brooke writes his own epigraph and
shows a moving sense of the poet s deep love of England and it s people. The poet feels he can
influence the thoughts of those left behind, with this he will try to cement the continuation of those
qualities that he thinks of as being essentially English. Brooke has transformed the poem into a
sonnet, not addressed to a loved one but to his country.
In this poem the moods of the first few months of the war are summed up. Despite the subject
matter there is a sort of serenity in the poem, even the words If I should die suggests that he
expects to survive.
The reality of the horror had still to be discovered.
This poem mirrors the sentiments expressed in The Charge of the Light Brigade . This event took
place in 1854 and is still remembered as one of the most famous triumphs in British history. The
truth is that Lord Cardigan suicidally led his troops Into

Stages of a Criminal Trial
Stages of A Criminal TrailNancy Jane Strayer University
One stages of a criminal trial is the presentation of evidence, first the state is given the opportunity
to present evidence intended to improve the defendant s guilt. After prosecutors have rested their
case, the defense is afforded the opportunity to provide evidence favorable to the defendant. Types
of Evidence Evidence can be either direct or circumstantial. Direct evidence believed, proves a fact
without requiring the judge or jury to draw inferences. For example, direct evidence may consist of
the information contained in a photograph or a videotape. It might also consist of testimonial
evidence provided by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Testimony OF Witness Witness testimony is generally the chief means by which evidence is
introduced a trial. Witnesses may include victims, police officers, the defendant, specialists in
recognized fields, and others with useful information to provide. Some of these witnesses may have
been present during the commission of the offense, while most will have had only a later
opportunity to investigate the situation or to analyze evidence. Before a witness is allowed to
testify to any fact, the questioning attorney must establish the person s competence. Competence to
testify requires that witnesses have personal knowledge of the information they will discuss and
that they understand their duty to tell the truth. One of the defense attorney s most critical decisions
is whether to put the defendant on the stand. Defendants have a Fifth Amendment right to remain
silent and to refuse to testify. In the precedent setting case of Griffin v. California (1965), the U.S.
Supreme Court declared that if a defendant refuses to testify, prosecutors and judges are enjoined
from even commenting on this fact, although the judge should instruct the jury that such a failure
cannot be held to indicate guilt. In the 2001 case of Ohio v. Reiner, the U.S. Supreme Court
extended Fifth Amendment protections to witnesses who deny any and all quilt in association with
a crime for which another person is being prosecuted. Direct

  • 2. What Does It Mean To Be A Leader My Vision at LeaderShape`s Institute Program and My Goals There is a belief that leaders are born not made. I don`t agree with this idea because I believe that leadership can be learned. Furthermore, leader is born to be made. So I can say that LeaderShape`s Institute program, which helps and supports the nation in a unique way teaches leadershipknowledge and skill. By joining the training program, I tried to focus on developing my skills to be a leader. First, I intended to learn how to develop leadership skill which is powerful in today`s business environment and our general community involvement. In the business environment, we need leaders that have a strong commitment to be successful for the projects or goals as well. Sometimes, the goals can be changed and the projects are cancelled or be unsuccessful, but leaders should be there to continue handling the situations. So, I focused on learning how to take my leadership position and requirements from a general to specific one which can be also changeable, depending on the environment and conditions.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point, I need to learn and improve the methods how I can influence the people to reach the goals together. There are some people that we can take as an example such as Marian Wright Edelman who is a founder of the Children s Defense Fund , a civil rights pioneer and a crusader on behalf of children, and Mike Feinberg Dave Levin who are raising educational expectations in underserved communities, founder of the Knowledge Is Power Program . So, I offered to invite such kind of renowned leaders to the University of Houston Downtown (UHD) campus to share their unique experience and educate our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Representation Of Identity Formation Through a qualitative comparative literature approach studies the representation of identity formation on the work of transnational writers Reyna Grande and Sandra Cisneros. I introduce the framework of liminality to understand identity formation of transnational individuals. Transnational and diasporic identities have been understood as the incorporation of multiple geographical sources of identity, inclusive of locations on both sides of the border and having multiple homes (Szeghi 2014:163). While this is true, this definition does not address the disharmonies, sense of alienation and/or identity conflicts that the incorporation of multiple geographic locations that transnationalism can provoke to individuals belonging to the less privilege ... • 4. Sentencing For Drug Offenders Should Be Lenient Sentencing for drug offenders can be somewhat lenient or harsh depending upon what drug was involved in the arrest and who the violator is; meaning if the violator is an adult or a juvenile. In Crime state rankings 2010: Crime across America, the percent of the population who are illicit drugs users for Virginia was 8.2%, ranking twenty fourth on that list and the national percent was 8.1% of the population in 2007 (Morgan, K. O. L., Morgan, S., Santos, R. B. 2010). In Crimestate rankings 2011: Crime across America, the percent of the population who are illicit drugusers for Virginia was 7.3%, ranking thirty two on that list and the national percent was 8.0% of the population in 2008 (Morgan, K. Sentencing Commission, which specify that between 1998 and 2002 over 300 defendants were sentenced annually under the guideline that boosted penalties for drug activity. Tools are very limited when it comes to protecting certain locations and individuals from drug activities, there are also no specific weapons against those who sell drugs in or around drug treatment centers. To Avergun, the people that would sink that low as to target their trafficking activity at those with the least ability to resist such offers, those are the people who deserve the most severe punishment. The Department of Justice cannot and will not tolerate this conduct in America, and that is why they stands firmly behind the intent of this legislation to increase the punishment meted out to drug offenders. The Department of Justice supports mandatory minimum sentences in appropriate circumstances, of course. Mandatory minimum sentencing statues can provide a level of uniformity and predictability that regular sentencing procedures cannot. Mandatory minimum sentencing discourages certain types of criminal behavior by broadcasting the potential consequences of committing those offenses. They can also keep dangerous offenders in prison for long periods of time, thereby increasing the public s safety. They also provide an important tool for prosecutors by providing defendants with a convincing incentive, that by cooperating with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Reaction Paper On Shinobi During the Genesis era the Shinobi franchise was among the most notable series produced by SEGA. Two decades after its premiere Shinobi III is still considered a definite genre landmark, delivering challenging Asia action, top notch level design and a soundtrack regarded as one of video game history s finest. Shinobi X, aka Shinobi Legions (US) / Shin Shinobi Den (JP), released in 1995, replaced the drawn visuals with digi sprites technically reminiscent of the early Mortal Kombat titles. While it stays close to the gameplay formula the Shinobi series is known for, few changes have been made, the most obvious one being the abandonment of former installments protagonist Joe Musashi. The story orbits around Sho and his evil brother Kazuma. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For a game released some 20 years ago it looks fantastic! Frankly, the digitized sprites could have benefited from a higher resolution, but scrolling is smooth and the backgrounds, while merely 2D drawings, manage to create an immersive atmosphere, matching the varying settings of the stages. As full motion video was THE thing back in the 90s, the stages are wired together by amazingly ridiculous real action scenes, featuring B cast actors and laughable special effects. They are greatly entertaining though (in fact one of the reasons to own this game!) and give you a little insight on what s cookin with the story. Shinobi X is also easily the most violent entry in series, complete with blood spills and antagonists being split ahalf. The music however, while decently arranged and exciting enough to get you pumped during boss encounters, doesn t reach the level of the Shinobi III tunes, which have become somewhat legendary. The US and European versions of Shinobi X have different soundtracks. I am referring to the unaltered US one, which is the same as the Japanese release. While many SEGA enthusiasts will likely award Shinobi III as their favorite episode, Shinobi X delivers enough gameplay and presentation goodness to be considered a must have title for Saturn ... Choosing this career took place when I walked in the Victoria Secret underwear store I would spot the wide screens and the fashion models wearing all the clothes and underwear on. I ask myself if I were able to make it, I would literally be great full and will retain me from bad people and food for my health. In my perspective, this would be a surprising career for me and my family. They pay very well and I would like to make my dreams come true and be proud receiving my own money. General description of duties and responsibilities First of all, a modelingcareer is all about representing famous new clothes and traveling the world. Choosing this career was unbelievable because I walked through the store ВЁVictoria SecretВЁ and I would look at the models, modeling clothes and underwear and in that moment I thought about that career. • 7. Essay On African Americans In The 20th Century The 20th Century presented its own problems and temporary solutions for Blacks. Those years impacted all Blacks, male and female, northerner and southerner, soldier and civilian. Migration, military service, racial violence, and political protest combined to make the 20th century one of the most dynamic periods of the Black experience. Black people contested the boundaries of American democracy, demanded their rights as American citizens, and asserted their very humanity in ways both subtle and dramatic. Let s walk through this century together as we take it one episode at a time. World War I (1914 1918) While the Great War raged in Europe for three long years, America stead a neutral country. It was not until April of 1917, that President Wilson asked Congress to declare war on Germany. Americans swung into action to raise, equip, and ship the American Expeditionary Force to the trenches of Europe. • 8. Chemistry In The 1800 s The studies of chemistry and physics have shaped understanding of the world today. In fact, they have altered the mindset and reasoning of society, leading to an age in which discoveries are consistently being sought after and achieved. However, it must be noted that the origin for the basis of understanding used today in fields such as chemistryderived almost entirely from the scientists of the 1800 s. In this thorough and precise essay, the incubator for some of the world s most innovative researchers and pioneers in chemistry and physicswill be discussed the Cavendish Laboratory. In the late 1800 s, specifically June 16th, 1874, the Cavendish Laboratory of Cambridge University in the United Kingdom was opened due to William Cavendish,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To answer this, one does not have to look far as the Cavendish Laboratory is rather open with current projects. For example, Nanophotonics, which is the study of the conduct of light on the nanometer scale and its interactions, is an ongoing study at the Cavendish Laboratory (NanoPhotonics, n.d., para. 1). Specifically, the NanoPhotonics Group (NP) is looking into nano plasmonics, polymer photonic crystals, semiconductor microcavities, et cetera (NanoPhotonics, n.d., para. 2). At this current time, it is rather difficult, as assembling nano chunks of matter into a structure creates nano materials that have emergent properties, which are not found in their constituents (NanoPhotonics, n.d., para. 3). Their goal is moving from expensive fabrication of devices to elegant nano assembly in which materials build themselves (NanoPhotonics, n.d., para. 3). • 10. The Diary Of A Teenage Girl The film version of Diary of a Teenage Girl, rather than condemning patriarchal privilege and its attendant exploitations as the book does, is instead a very careful take on a young s girl s exploration of her sexuality. The film and the book share the same premise but ultimately differ on delivery due to their inherently different approaches to capturing Minnie s life as her and the other characters are portrayed differently, so much so that is a cautious take on an otherwise un barred novel. Rather than touching upon patriarchal privilege and its exploitations, the film smooths over many of the more intense aspects in order to create a happy ending for itself, which is fundamentally different than what the book intended. The Diary of a Teenage Girl is based on the popular graphic novel by Phoebe Gloeckner published in 2002 and written as well as directed by Marielle Heller. They follow the life of Minnie (Bew Powley), who is 15 years old, in San Franciso in the year 1976. She lives with her single mother (Kristin Wiig) and younger sister. Monroe (Alexander Skarsgard), is her mother s 35 year old boyfriend, and the two of them carry on a secret sexual relationship. In the book, the text speaks for Minnie in ways that she cannot speak for herself which leaves the reader to fill in the gaps; however, viewers get no sense of this in the film, where what happens is taken at surface value. A regular journal entry is needed on 7/25/X2 debit Cash and credit Unearned Revenue for $8,400. On 12/31/X2, an adjusting journal entry is needed to record the amount of revenue that has been earned. The entry also results in the correct balance of the liability account as of 12 /31/X2. Computation: $8,400 divided by 12 months equals $700 per month. $700 times 5 months (Aug Dec) equals $3,500. $3,500 has now been earned. It is clear that the two were in the field that day and they both saw very similar things which the also interpreted very similarly. When we compare William s poem and Dorothy s journal we can see both comparisons and contrasts between the texts. The different comparisons we see may help us understand why Dorothy did not achieve such fame as her brother had. Dorothy s description of the text is very natural as she is simply describing what she saw and how she saw it then and there. When she first saw the daffodils she simply says When we were in the woods beyond Gowbarrow park we saw a few daffodils close to the water side. We fancied that the lake had floated the seeds ashore and that the little colony had so sprung up. (Journals of Dorothy Wordsworth: The Alfoxden Journal 1798, The Grasmere Journals 1800 1803). When William describes the field full of Daffodils he uses a great deal of description to emphasis the beauty of the flowers and to make it clear about how he felt. In contrast to Dorothy s initial reaction to the daffodils William says When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. (William Wordsworth, I wandered lonely as a cloud , 1807). It is clear that that William and Dorothy had very different writing techniques. Dorothy has a plain and simple flow to her writings whereas William has a dramatic and descriptive style. This is a clear contrast between the two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most frequented question was when He intended to break it. As if answering to this question, one day in 1954 in answer, He just stopped using His alphabet board and started to communicate by using finger gestures. In silence one can get clarity about one s visions and wishes, one s patterns of thinking and feeling and how one acts in one s world. Silence can be a tool which helps one know and experience fully who am I and what one s purpose in life is. In the modern world there is hardly ever complete silence. People also avoid silence and even seem to be afraid of it. There is always some background noise, whether that is traffic, music or a TV. It is difficult for some of us to be in silence because it so clearly brings us face to face with our own identity. This becomes awkward because so often one plays a role and is embarrassed or ashamed to face the real one. One is not in peace with oneself so one tries to keep the mind busy with different kinds of input so that one does not have to think of who am I . Speech is the biggest consumer of one s energy, the easiest way of dissipating one energy. When talking one uses a lot more oxygen than when one is in silence. Excessive talking causes energy burnout and mind gets overheated which then in turn has effects on one s reactions. One becomes angry and impatient due to which one is not able to act calmly, coolly or rationally anymore. Also listening to people who talk a lot takes a lot of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One example of this would be the oppressing of children in Uganda. As more and more children were enslaved by the Lord s Resistance Army, led by Joseph Kony, the Invisible Children was founded to raise awareness through their campaign of Kony 2012. After eight years of campaigning against the Lord s Resistance Army, the Invisible Children posted a video titled Kony 2012. It began as an experiment, but with over 100 million views in only six days, the infamous Joseph Kony went from an obscure villain to world known criminal. The campaign reached its goal in April of 2012, when President Barack Obama announced that he would reignite the United State s mission to help the African Union in stopping LRA violence. Who is the Lord s Resistance Army? The LRA is a rebel Christian cult that has terrorized Ugandafor nearly thirty years. In 1986, the LRA began as an evolution of the Holy Spirit Movement. Led by Alice Lakwena, the Holy Spirit Movement was a rebellion against the oppression of North Uganda by their president, Yoweri Museveni.(invisible children, 2014) Claiming that she was possessed by the spirit of a long dead Italian soldier, Lakwena was seen unfit to remain the leader of the Holy Spirit Movement. These immigrants are coming into America for many different reasons. The main immigrants into America are from Mexico, but many do come from El Salvador too. Some immigrants like economic migrants, come to America because of job availability and more money. For example, in Mexico poverty and unemployment is a major problem, and by 2012 55.3 million out of 120 million were poor. The majority of the Mexican population are farmers, and they live in rural areas with very extreme temperatures and the poor quality land makes it hard to actually farm. This culture causses struggle for these Mexican families. Due to these high unemployment and poverty rates they migrate to America in order to support their family and further retain a reasonable standard of living. Another reason Mexicans will come into America is because they are fleeing violence. In Mexico, there is very high crime rates, and homicide rates are around 10 14 per 100,000 people. With drugs, in the past 5 years, more than 47, 500 have been killed. Therefore, a reason some Mexicans will come to America is because of the lower crime rates, and having a more reliable and stable home to live. Mountain Men from the North American Rock Mountains Mountain men were most common in the North American Rocky Mountains from about 1810 through the 1880s (with a peak population in the early 1840s). Approximately 3,000 mountain men ranged the mountains between 1820 and 1840, the peak beaver harvesting period. While there were many free trappers, most mountain men were employed by major fur companies. The life of a company man was almost militarized. The men had mess groups, hunted and trapped inbrigades and always reported to the head of the trapping party. This man was called a boosway , a bastardization of the French term bourgeoisie. He was the leader of the brigade and the head trader. Donald Mackenzie, representing the North West Company, held a Rendezvous in the Boise RiverValley in 1819.[2] The rendezvous system was later implemented by William Henry Ashley of theRocky Mountain Fur Company, whose company representatives would haul supplies to specific mountain locations in the spring, engage in trading with trappers, and bring pelts back to communities on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers in the fall. Ashley sold his business to the outfit of Jackson and Sublette. He continued to earn revenue by selling that firm their supplies. The origins of the industry can be traced to the earliest of times known to mankind. The history of hotels is intimately connected to that of civilizations; facilities offering guests hospitality have been in evidence since early biblical times (Levy Bonvin, 2003, para.1). While the most ancient hotels did not have all the modern amenities that consumers have become accustomed to receiving when frequenting the various hotelbrands and companies, the ancient hotels helped create the industry that is still growing and evolving today. At the start of the hotel industry, there was not of actual facilities that would resemble the hotels that consumer is accustomed to seeing nowadays. Many of the accommodations offered to travelers where bare bones, and the providers of the lodging were mostly concerned with providing a safe place for the travelers to rest in between major outposts for a civilization that didn t have the modern transportation methods. The modern ease of traveling was not afforded to the customers of that time, which meant that the act of traveling from one city to another was very hazardous. Travelling during that time was progressively more hazardous, which helped to spur the gradual appearance of inns across much of Europe (Levy Bonvin, 2003, para.5). The first meaning I found in the 1963 film was the correlation between education and societal stability the film presented the idea that the more uneducated or closed minded a civilisaiton is, the worse off, or unstable, the civilisation becomes. The film also presented aspects of the true nature of the human condition, highlighting the differences between mankind s often hidden inner savagery which is thankfully repressed in modern society, which is of the utmost relevancy in the real world and can be said to be the root cause of thousands of years of conflict, as some societies allow... With nobody to mandate the children, murder eventually took place. Some argue that The Lord of the Flies is fictional, and the lessons about mankind s savage nature it teaches cannot be realistically connected to real life it is not logical to judge the savagery of real people based on fictional characters. However, there are plenty of real life examples of similar if not, more savage violence happening in real life due to either the misguidance or lack of guidance from adults. During just the start of this year, in an environement shockingly similar to that of the film, an eight year old child willfully chose to execute a 30 year old man while his father watched, smiling to him after he was finished, while he smiled back. This morbid but exceedingly important message conveyed in the Lord of the Flies film meant many things to me. First of all, it helped explain to me how important a childhood where compassionate values, which empathy is a gateway to, is to the development of a person. It made me realise that it is essential to stigmatise bad actions such as murder and theft in a society, as the film has taught me that these good traits do not come naturally, and that they need to be taught. She mentions that trauma is usually caused by an overwhelming experience that affects one s capability to cope with the memories and the feelings that they connect to the specific traumatic event. They were marsupials but behaved more like wolves than marsupials (which makes them an excellent example of convergent evolution). They became extinct in Australia and New Guinea because of their incompetence against the dingoes, an invasive species brought by the aboriginal men. Nevertheless, some were left in Tasmania as the dingoes did not reach there, but died out soon after Europeans arrived there. Similar story includes the dodo s tale which is illustrated perfectly by Richard Dawkins in his book The Ancestor s Tale: A Pilgrimage to the Dawn of Evolution When Portuguese sailors arrived on Mauritius in 1507, the abundant dodos were completely tame, and approached the sailors in a manner which cannot have been far from trusting . The unfortunate dodos were clubbed to death by Portuguese, and later Dutch, sailors even though they were deemed unpalatable. Extinction took less than two centuries. As so often, it came about through a combination of killing and more indirect effects. Humans introduced dogs, pigs, rats, and religious refugees. The first three ate dodo eggs, and the last planted sugar cane and destroyed habitats (Dawkins). All the tales of these extinct species have one thing in common a species live in harmony in its home until an invasive species destroy them, and humans are the antagonist in each story. • 33. Why I Want To Pursue A Master Of Science Degree Education is not preparation for life; Education is life for itself. These are the words of John Dewey, which have led an everlasting impression on my mind. It relates to the idea of lifelong learning, and the knowledge that education is much more than what lies within the curriculum. Whenever I pause by to reflect on my ken of knowledge, I feel that how little I have learnt and that an enormous, unknown and fascinating wealth of knowledge lies before me, yet to be explored. Education is like an edifice based on strong rudiments and strengthened by the fundamentals and practical skills acquired during one s lifetime. So my main goal is to design the next generation innovations in field rather than being just a user of existing technologies and findings. So I intend to pursue Master of Science degree in Automotive software Engineering at your university as the first step towards obtaining a PHD. Nothing is Impossible in Life has always been a motivating force behind all my achievements. I strongly believe that enjoy what we do and having the passion to pursue, we can ultimately achieve our destination, no matter how much efforts are needed. My inherent urge and interest to pursue engineering emanates from an instinctive inclination for Physics and Mathematics since my schooling. From early childhood, I was very captivated with electronic appliances around me. I would ask my parents about their principle of working. I always tried to find out what basic elements and ... This group is one of white supremacist and anti government ideology. This group, according to confidential sources, is involved in harassment and tax evasion. Two incidents, a bombing on February 12th (which two men have been arrested for) and a shooting that took place on March 10th, are believed to be connected to the ANLF. However, a confidential sources says the ANLF has nothing to do with the shooting. Recently, police and a member of the prosecutor s office showed up at the News Press offices with a warrant, demanding Hirsch to turn over all notes, research materials, and recordings relating to the ANLF. Also, he was urged to identify his sources. Hirsch refused to do both. Whether or not the prosecuting office can demand Hirsch to turn over any information depends on court precedents and current laws. In Branzburg v. Hayes (1972), the Supreme Court decided the First Amendment did not grant reportorial privilege in the court. This means journalists and other members of the press cannot use freedom of speech as a defense in order to not testify. This includes if a source was meant to be confidential. Lower courts interpreted Branzburg differently. In the case of Branzburg, reportorial privilege was unnecessary. Later with Zerilli v. Smith (1981), the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals concluded that reportorial privilege existed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We all are filled with certain passions and certain desires, but sometimes we act as if we are not. We try to contain who we are because it doesn t quite fit the mold of what society has so carelessly made for us. Clause challenges his audience to reach deep within themselves and see who they are. The good, the bad, and the not so pretty that is held within our beating hearts and scattered minds is what makes us who we are. We were all so eloquently crafted to be different and we should know our own souls for that very reason. No one human being was, or will ever be made the exact same way. Some of our desires... • 41. The Pros And Cons Of Active Euthanasia The American Medical Association states that passive euthanasia (letting die) is morally permissible. However, active euthanasia (assisting patients die) is never morally permissible because it s like killing the patient instead of letting the patient die naturally. Active euthanasia, is taking a direct action to kill a patient and on the other hand, passive euthanasia, is withholding treatments to let the patient die (letting die). Rachels (1975) disagrees with the American Medical Association because he supports active euthanasia contrary to the position of this body. According to Rachels, active euthanasia reduces the pain of the patients who would otherwise die even without the injection. In other words, there are no significant differences between letting a person die and killing a person, who will still perish in the end. Rachels refutes the claim of the American Medical Association that does not support intentional termination of the life of the patient or what is referred to as mercy killing. In her view, doctors only uphold their legal mandate by not engaging in the mercy killing and ignoring their moralduty to ensure the patient die without pain. The doctors only seek to avoid legal responsibility by letting the patient die instead of killing the patient. Lean And Six Sigma Introduction Efficiency and effectiveness are two key terms in business, no matter the industry a company activates in, as measuring firm strategy and performance has become more and more critical nowadays. All organizations seek to achieve both and this requires a whole range of tools and resources. Efficiency relates to the degree to which an organization uses resources optimally in order to provide its services (Ala, Carol, Joy, Aziz, 1993, p. 39), while effectiveness measures the extent to which it provides appropriate services (Ibidem). Furthermore, being efficient means doing things right . Being effective means to do the right things (Roberto, Carlo, Roland, 113, p. 429). The lack of a universally accepted definition for the term has meant that it can and has been applied to a wide variety of political contexts. Unlike in Italy, the rise of fascism in Germany occurred in one of the world s most advanced economies, for the German modernisation and industrialisation process during the nineteenth century had helped to create a powerful state. Political extremism in Germany developed further from the failure of the state and society to manage the complex problems arising from the country s sudden defeat at the end of the First World War in 1918. Although the First World War created the necessary conditions to enable the rise of Nazism , Nazi ideology was derived from the intellectual and political underworld of pre 1914 Germany. Before 1914, this far right ideology which was heavily focused on anti Semitism, remained on the political fringe and had little influence on domestic policies. Competence to testify requires that witnesses have personal knowledge of the information they will discuss and that they understand their duty to tell the truth. One of the defense attorney s most critical decisions is whether to put the defendant on the stand. Defendants have a Fifth Amendment right to remain silent and to refuse to testify. In the precedent setting case of Griffin v.
