Babbitt By Sinclair Lewis And How The Other Half Lives
GENERAL INTRODUCTION. GIVE HISTORICAL CONTEXT. Both Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis and
How the Other Half Lives by Jacob Riis expose injustice in society; however, Lewis establishes a
connection between the unfulfilling American dream and hypocrisy of society in the 1920s in the
middle class, and Riis exposes the gap between the impoverished and dangerous conditions of the
poor and the uncaring or uneducated middle and upper class in the context of New York. Set in the
1920s, Babbitt captures both political and personal unrest, as well as social rebellion. Written in third
person narrative, Babbitt s characters include political extremists and those with overt mistrust of the
opposing political party: how Seneca Doane, a radical lawyer, is treated by society embodies this
notion. In fact, most men that influence society blacklist Doane; men like William Enthrone and Virgil
Gunch view Doane as a communist threat, and when Babbitt suddenly defends Doane and radical
politics, these men are caught between complete disbelief and threatening mistrust. QUOTE. How the
Other Half Lives by Jacob Riis is a nonfiction story that recounts Riis s life after immigrating to the
United States from Denmark in 1870. When Riis first immigrated to the United States, he took low
paying jobs, and during this time, he experienced the utter poverty in New York City. After rising in
social standing, Riis found work as a police reporter for the New York Tribune; his work frequently

The Pros And Cons Of The Criminal Justice System
Criminal justice policies cover many geographical areas and can be very helpful in the criminal justice
system. It is important to understand even though one policy may be successful for one area of the
community; it may not have the same effect in another area. The variables of each area differ in
relation to population, ethnicity, cultural practices, political affiliation, and etc. When accounting for
variables in different geographical areas statistics can play a big role in the creation and
implementation of new policy as well as making changes to policies which already exist. One policy
which may stand out and has had an impact all over the country is the reformation of investigating
officer involved critical incidents. Of course with any policy there will be some pros and cons the
criminal justice system will have to work with.
As with most critical incidents, local, state, and federal agencies gather, analyze and use statistical
data in order to identify potential alarming trends and to determine whether or not any reform is
needed. It is reasonable to state that situations involving officer involved shootings qualify as critical
incidents; therefore, the statistical data regarding these incidents should be carefully and methodically
analyzed.
Utilization of the Federal Bureau of Investigation s Uniform Crime Reporting database serves as a tool
to retrieve statistical data in regards to these incidents (UCR Officer Involved Shootings, 2016). In

DermaCare has the potential of a successful business. They have taken several steps in the right

The At The Statesboro Main Street Farmers Market From 10
On September 3, 2016, I was given the opportunity to serve at The Statesboro Main Street Farmers
Market from 10:00am until 1:00pm. This event is open to the public from April to November every
Saturday from 9:30am 12:30pm beside the Bulloch County Courthouse and Sea Island Bank. Here
you will find many local vendors selling their own produce. This event is not limited to produce as
you will also find locals selling jewelry, baked goods, crafts, and my personal favorite, coffee. Some
locally owned stores other than farmers bring their business to the market such as Three Tree Coffee
Roasters, Sugar Magnolia, Cork s Kettle Corn, B G Honey Farm, etc. With a small town feel, this
charming location is perfect for the venue at hand.
What was your role at the event?
Upon arrival, I went to the information vendor located in the middle of the Farmers Market where I
was greeted by other volunteers and Melanie Sparrow, who told me my responsibilites for the
upcoming hours. My first duty was to hand out various advertisements for the upcoming GreenFest
which will be held October 1st, 2016, across the street from the Farmers Market. The GreenFest is
held by Georgia Southern s Center for Sustainability. The goal of this event is to teach people about
green living and what it entails. Much like the Farmers Market, there will be live music, vendors, and
workshops. Aside from passing out ads, I also helped keep attendance of everyone in the market by
taking a count every 30 minutes or so.

J. C. Penny Organizational Culture
The culture at J. C. Penny before Johnson can be described as inclusive and employee centered. The
organizational culture can perhaps be described as a hierarch culture. A hierarchy culture has an
internal focus and produces more formalized and structured work environment (Kreitner, p. 70). The
founder, James Cash Penny, managed his stores under the philosophy of providing the best customer
service at the best price. He truly believed in giving his customers the best deal possible. The company
continued to thrive under this basic tenant, but started to lose its market share and overall appeal in the
early 2000s as the internet and small specialty stores like H M and the GAP started to attract more of
their customers.

C. Penny s over 100 year presence in the retail industry, any organizational change would require
careful and thoughtful planning. Edgar Schein, former professor at MIT Sloan School of Management
and Organizational Behavior scholar notes that changing organizational culture involves a teaching
process (Kreitner, p. 74). This process is beneficial for both the existing employees and new
leadership. One of the processes that I would have recommended to Johnson at the beginning of his
term with J.C. Penny would be the organizational activities, processes or outcomes that leaders pay
attention to, measure, and control. The behavior of Johnson and his new management team suggested
that they rejected learning about the existing culture at J.C. Penny and how and why things are done
the way they were. To meet the objectives of the board of directors, the immediate focus was to focus
on what he thought the customer wanted...a method that was proven to be successful at Apple, but
failed at J.C. Penny. Had he spent time getting to know his employees and explained his vision for J.C.
Penny, he would have received valuable information on not just the how, but what why things are
done in the manner they are done. Why it was important to keep the coupons that customers loved to
use. Johnson knew the history of James Cash Penny and thought that his Fair and Square pricing
strategy was all that was needed to transform the company. But he failed to truly understand Mr.
Penny s philosophy the Golden Rule where you find good employees, train them well, as well as sell
quality goods at a fair price (J.C. Penney Company, Inc. History,

The Meaning of Respect Essay
Most people go through life and always hear about the word respect, but they don t know what it
means. Respect is the esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person. There are things in
life you need to hold in respect. Respect for yourself, respect for others, and respect for property.
Respect is taught to people everywhere and it is even taught to them in their religions. Respect is the
very aspect that keeps everything in your life. Respect for yourself is very important to a person
because it can be the balancing factor of your life. If a person has no respect for themselves the will
most likely go into depression. Respecting yourself is also important for your self esteem. Having a

property means not damaging or taking something that is not yours. Respecting property can vary
from writing on a desk at school to stealing from a store. Respecting property is important because if
you don t it could be considered a felony offense. But respecting property is just using your common
sense. There is a Japanese culture that teaches us to respect the environment because they believe that
the earth is holy, such as the trees, grass, and animals. You may be asking yourself what does this have
to do with respecting property? But respecting property does not just mean that you shouldn t damage
things that are not yours but it also means taking care of your enviorment. There is an old saying do
onto others as you would have them do onto you. How would you feel if someone came along and
broke your bicycle, or trampled on your flowers? Most people don t think about how the other person
would feel if someone did something to their personal property. There is a Japanese culture that

Blind Faith in Raymond Carver s Cathedral Essay
Blind Faith in Raymond Carver s Cathedral
In the story Cathedral by Raymond Carver, the main character, goes through a major personal
transformation. At the beginning of the story, his opinions of others are filled with stereotypes,
discrimination and prejudice. Through interaction with his wife s blind friend Robert, his attitude and
outlook on life changes. Although at first he seemed afraid to associate with a blind man, Robert s
outgoing personality left him with virtually no choice. During Robert s visit, he proved to be a normal
man, and showed the speaker that by closing his eyes, he could open his mind.
The speaker s prejudice was nearly overwhelming at the opening of the story. His being blind bothered

The color of Beulah s skin was not important to Robert, and therefore was not mentioned by the
character.
Until he met Robert, the speaker merely referred to Robert as the blind man, instead of someone with
a name or someone with importance. He did not seem to understand why his wife had kept in touch
with Robert, or how they became so close. He also seemed to feel that Robert was a nuisance to
society, someone who could not take care of himself. The character spoke of the pity he felt for Beulah
because Robert could never see what she looked like, read the expression on her face or receive the
smallest compliment from her husband.
When Robert arrived in his house, the speaker began his transformation. It began immediately upon
seeing Robert with his wife, his eyes drawn to the smile Robert had placed on her face. The speaker
witnessed the depth of conversation Robert had with his wife, as if he wasn t even in the room, and it
seemed to spark some jealousy. Most of the changes that the speaker underwent in his understanding
of Robert were because he realized that Robert was normal.
The speaker was surprised to see a beard on a blind man. He had always thought dark glasses were a
must for the blind, yet Robert wore none. He had read the blind didn t smoke, but Robert filled ashtray
after ashtray in his home. The speaker watched as Robert ate, knowing where everything was on his

Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism Essay
Vaccines have been used to prevent diseases for centuries, and have saved countless lives of children
and adults. The smallpox vaccine was invented as early as 1796, and since then the use of vaccines has
continued to protect us from countless life threatening diseases such as polio, measles, and pertussis.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (2010) assures that vaccines are extensively tested by
scientist to make sure they are effective and safe, and must receive the approval of the Food and Drug
Administration before being used. Perhaps the greatest success story in public health is the reduction
of infectious diseases due to the use of vaccines (CDC, 2010). Routine immunization has eliminated

This led to the support of various unproven vaccine autism theories by parents in both the UK and
America. After findings of intestinal disease in children with autism, Wakefield claimed that
separating the MMR into three different vaccinations would be safer. Since then, Wakefield s research
has been discredited, he was charged with serious professional misconduct by the General Medical
Council for violating several ethical practices, and he was investigated for failing to disclose conflict
of interest a pending patent on a rival measles vaccine (Gross, 2009). Although false, many still
believe wholeheartedly that vaccines are harmful.
Wakefield s Study
In the 1998 article in the Lancet, Wakefield studied 12 children who, after a period of apparent
normality, lost acquired skills, including communication (Wakefield, Murch, Anthony, Linnell,
Casson, Malik, Berelowitz, Dhillon, Thomson, Harvey, Valentine, Davies, Walker Smith,1998). All 12
children were reported to show behavioral symptoms after receiving the vaccination. After receiving
the vaccination, the features associated with exposure collectively included fever/delirium, rash, self
injury, repetitive behavior, loss of self help, convulsion, gaze avoidance, diarrhea, disinterest, lack of
play, vomiting, and recurrent viral pneumonia. In 8 of the 12 children, the beginning of behavioral
problems was linked to the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination by either the parents or by the

American Eugenics:
The Cost of Ignoring Our History
The world is well aware that the acts of the Nazis were atrocious. This is not something one has to
affirm, and is due, in large part, to an understanding of World War II and Hitler s attempts to achieve
Aryan purity. Germans have taken responsibility and shown remorse for their government s actions.
The United States role as leaders in the eugenics movement of the early 1900 s remains unknown by
most Americans, even to many American scholars. The American eugenics movement, is at least
partially responsibility for Hitler s actions, at it laid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By tracing the impacts of this movement, one can gain a better understanding of how fear and
devaluing of people with disabilities became deeply embedded in our culture. Doctors were still
calling people with disabilities burdens, segregating them in institutions, sterilizing them, and treating
them as subhuman as late as the 1970 s. Today, many people still treat people with disabilities as
burdens and with fear. During the height of eugenics in America, medical research was being done on
people with disabilities (Groce and Marks, 2000). This is a clear equivalent to the status of animal, as
only animals and people with disabilities were used in the manner; comparing people with disabilities
to animals remains part of our medical and academic culture. In fact, Groce and Marks (2000)
challenged anthropologists who consider the value of non human primates higher than other animals
because of their similarities to people with disabilities, connecting these arguments to the American
eugenics movement. While the result of the eugenics movement was to devalue people with
disabilities, and anthropologists in this case intended to increase the value of the life of the primate, in

My Career In Nursing
During my long journey in nursing school, I realized that the idea I had of the nursing career and the
reality of it are two different things. Before starting in this path the only knowledge that I had about
the medical field was of caring and helping some sick family members. Eventually, those experiences
awoke a feeling in me to help those in need. Later on, that feeling turned into a calling, and that was
what influenced me to pursue a career in nursing. Nursing is the nation s largest health care
profession. At all times more nurses are needed to meet the growing demand for nursing care. But in
order to be a nurse you cannot enter into this profession with a money sign on your head. People are
not machines. What guide my practice are my personal philosophies, which are centered on my
strengths beliefs and personal values.
Personally, I think that to be in this field of work you need patience and critical thinking. Nurses need
to be caring, and we need to be prepared to handle any type of situation. In the health care field is
important to use a hands on approach. Nurses are not machines we are human beings. It is important
to treat our patients as human beings too, with a caring touch and respect (Cable, 2009). Nurses act as
patient advocates we are their voice, we need to be sure to meet all our client needs within our scope
of practice. As nurses we need to put our cultural values aside and use ethical values, we cannot be

A Look Inside of Iran When thinking of Iran the first thing that comes to most people s mind is a

The Council of Guardians is comprised of 12 members and as stated early 6 is appointed by the

Council interprets the constitution and determines if laws passed by parliament are in adherence to

The council also examines candidates for public office and determines if they are capable.
The Judiciary branch is mainly controlled by the Supreme Leader who appoints the head of the

Cultural Diversity In Clint Eastwood s Gran Torino
Many people say that old people fear change as they have grown so accustomed to their old ways,
however, in Clint Eastwood s meaningful and captivating drama Gran Torino, it is exemplified that
anyone is capable of change. Gran Torino shares a story about tolerance and cultural differences, but
also one about hope, self sacrifice, and unlikely relationships. In the film, an abundance of cultural
diversity is met with much resistance, stereotype, and prejudice by the movies main character, Walt
Kowalski. Walt s world is changing; his wife has died, his Detroit neighbourhood is deteriorating, his
relationship with his two sons is distant, and his Korean War memories continue to affect his ability to
fully enjoy life. Through an unlikely bond with the Hmong family next door, Walt finally receives
redemption by coming face to face with the same destructive prejudices consuming neighbourhood
teenage gang members that have consumed him. Through the devices of characterisation, symbolism,
and dialogue the viewers will witness Walt emerge as a more compassionate individual who becomes
more accepting of other cultures and ethnic backgrounds around him.
Clint Eastwood depicts a sense of transformation in protagonist Walt Kowalski from a racist
tormented character to a compassionate father figure through characterisation. Protagonist, Walt is
perceived as a tough, worn, old man who has had enough of the people around him. He is viewed as a
stereotypical irritable old Korean war

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
In simple words, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be defined as the Do s and Don ts of Search
engines that if followed properly can improve the visibility of your website which will eventually lead
to better sales and promotion of your website, products and services. How?
When you launch a new website it is obvious that you will be among the millions. And among those
thousands that even Google doesn t know about their existence. And a week passes by with just one or
two visitors with zero contribution. It is obvious to get frustrated. But, it is more obvious to have a
question in your mind what other websites are doing so that they are ranking in the first page and what
you did that you got lost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When compared with the off web marketing your expenses are very high because you need manpower
to promote and the cost of advertisements are also very high. But, with the growing web surfers
business marketing has become very economical because even the social bookmarking sites like:
www.facebook.com offers your advertisements low cost whereas the features they provide are
enormous. Similarly, it is easy because you can promote your business with a click and completely
reduces your manpower budget.
All of the above listed advantages are worthy only if you rank well in Google and other major search
engines. With poor placement and zero page rank no customers will know your existence in the
internet and there is no question of building goodwill.
Black Hat and White Hat SEO:
Black hat and white SEO is two different stream of SEO which are distinctly different from one
another. Black hat SEO represents those people who are engaged in unethical SEO practices like:
keyword stuffing, link farming and article spinning which can seriously hamper your website and your
online business. Google is found to banned and delist such websites who are engaged in such
practices.
Similarly, white hat SEO is the ethical way of competing in the search engine to gain desired page
rank following the do s and don ts of Google.

Safety Procedures On And Off The Water
Safety We continue our educational and training sessions for our staff on all safety procedures on and
off the water. Over the past two months we have hosted regular first aid and CPR training. As the
venue grows the need for in house security has became a priority. Over the past two years we have
outsourced security. Beginning this month we will have one full time and one part time officer on
staff. We are estimating to have a budget saving with in house security. Operations Flood Recovery
During the recent flooding, we sustained damage to equipment, racecourse and docks. While majority
of the damage is covered under the Foundations insurance we do have several items that were not.
One of our large gangways south of the Chesapeake Boathouse washed off of its foundations. Both
Universities docks were washed out for the inlets and are considered a total lose. The foundation has
been working closely with both Universities and the dock manufacture to replace the dock system.
Both Universities have filed claims with FEMA for disaster relieve and are currently working through
the process. We too, filed a claim with FEMA but under the Non Profit guidelines we only qualify for
debris removal and emergency preventive maintenance funding. We will be submitting our staffing
cost for debris removal under the FEMA guidelines. The racecourse was not a total lose and we are
currently working with our insurance company to recover those loses. Lake Overhoulser

The Effects of Environmental Sustainability in Western Harbour
With the development of society, the life quality of human has been greatly improved. However, it
also leads to the destruction of nature, and this result in climate change. Climate change affects human
life in various aspects such as environment, economic, and social. For solving these problems, an idea
of sustainable urbanism was put forward. Brundtland Commission defined in 2010 that sustainable
urbanism is a urban development which not only can meet the needs of contemporary citizens, but
also have the ability to meet the needs of future generations. Sustainable urbanism can slow down
climate change while at the same time balancing environment, economic and social. Among these,
environmental sustainability is most important. In 1995, Goodland reported that environmental
sustainability is an eternal challenge which requires the environment which human being lives is not
damaged, whilst the present and future generations can be fed and housed well. This essay will focus
on the effects of three aspects as recycling, energy use and natural design of environmental
sustainability in Western Harbour, Malmö, Sweden.

Counseling Center Analysis
The Center for Collegiate Mental Health (CCMH) oversees a comprehensive, practice research
network, designed to help directors of university and college counseling centers (UCC) monitor
clinical trends, enhance treatment effectiveness, and advocate for additional resources (McAleavey,
Castonguay, Hayes, Locke, 2014). Through this initiative, standardized measures are used to collect
data from UCCs across the United States. One of these, the Counseling Center Assessment for
Psychological Symptoms 34 (CCAPS 34; Locke et al, 2012), was constructed as a brief
multidimensional outcome measure, assessing seven clinical subscales including depression, eating

More recently, ML methods have also been extended to research applications involving structural
equation modeling (Little, 2013), single case research designs (Rindskopf Ferron, 2014), and meta

introduced several strategies for reformulating both Rasch and item response theory (IRT) models to
account for clustered data (Rijmen, Tuerlinckx, de Boeck, Kuppens, 2003; Gorter, Fox, Twisk, 2015;
Barbieri, Peyhardi, Conroy, Gourgou, Lavergne, Mollevi, 2016; Blanchin, Hardouin, Neel, Kubis,

complex questions such as college student suicide (Drum, Brownson, Denmark, Smith, 2009),
therapeutic outcomes between white counselors and racial/ethnic minority clients (Hayes, McAleavey,

How Does Immigration Affect The United States Economy Essay

How does immigration affect the United States economy
Abstract:
Foreign born workers have dramatically increased in the Unites States due to immigration. How does
immigration affect the United States economy can be researched by finding the difference in
productivity and income per worker between states which have large inflows of foreign born worker
and those without many immigrants. Official data shows that states with large immigrant inflows have
higher productive capacity because they can attract foreign and domestic investment. With higher
productivity capacity, worker s wage would also soar. However, some people point out that foreign
born workers are stealing work opportunity from local workers; actually, there is no evidence to
confirm that.
Recent years, more and more foreign people immigrate to the United States by a variety of
approaches. How does immigration affect United States economy is now a hot topic discussed by
economists and ordinary citizens. Many people believe that foreign born workers are thieves who steal
their work opportunities; meanwhile, many people point out that these immigrants are essential for
United States society because many of them are doing the job that local people are not willing to do
such as cleaner and sewer workers. Most economists find no relationship between large immigration
inflows and local worker s employment rate and wage level.

Vulnerable John Lennon
The opening chords of the soft and folk sounding acoustic guitar introduce the listener to a completely
vulnerable John Lennon on vocals. In this song, Lennon attempts to create a folk song by imitating
one of his main influencers at the time, Bob Dylan. We hear a different side of John Lennon that
focuses on the emotional experience, rather than rock n roll. In the first stanza, we can assume that
Lennon has just got through an unexpected break up with a woman that he is clearly in love with. He
goes on to say, Here I stand head in hand / Turn my face to the wall we can see hat Lennon feels
completely hopeless and alone as he tries to understand how he ended up in this dreadful situation. As
he begins to think over the situation he realizes that it will be impossible to go one with life if the
woman he loves isn t by his side. Lennon shows his sentimental side by mentioning that he feels, Two

He is constantly assuming that each passerby is judging him because his girlfriend has left him. He

because his girlfriend left him for another man. The last line in the stanza states the following, And I
hear them say. Then, the song shifts to the chorus which shows the peoples response and advice
toward Lennon and his heartbreak. The advice is sung loudly and it seems like a crowd of people are
giving John Lennon advice. The people suggests the following, Hey you ve got to hide your love away
this shows that the people don t want Lennon to show his emotions and heartbreak. They suggest that
it is something you deal with internally, rather than expressing yourself. This shows that the people

Eastern Facade Of The Louvre Essay
Intro
The Eastern Façade of the Louvre was the one of most important architecture in the seventeen century.
The Façade is the main entrance for royal palace in its original proposal. However, Louis XIV, who
decided to build this architecture with his finance minister, moved to the Château de Versailles as his
royal palace. Nowadays, this side of the Louvre is an inconspicuous entrance of the Louvre Museum.
As a palace entrance, the eastern Facade of the Louvre responded the traditional chateau in France by
the space s quality and its French classicism style. However, the pyramid shape of I.M.Pei s design is
too attracting the people s attention to let people ignoring the real entrance which is the Eastern

The New Deal
Do you know what it s like to live in a cardboard home, starve, and raise a family in poverty?
Unfortunately, most Americans in the 1930s went through this on a day to day basis. In 1929 the stock
market crashed. Many people lost their life savings; they invested everything they owned in a failing
stock market. The country was falling, everyone needed strong leadership and help from the
government. Devastation and desperation started on Thursday, October 24, 1929. There was a strong
sense of panic in the air at the Stock Exchange. The stocks were dropping, alarmingly fast; the worried
American tried desperately to keep their savings. Markets began to steady again on Friday and

Americans too. For instance, the Social Security Act (SSA) provided many citizens with a newfound
sense of security by creating a program the paid the injured, blind, and deaf ( Franklin D. Roosevelt

loaning millions of dollars. The FSA also set up camps for migrant workers.
Sure, there we re relief programs aimed towards helping America, but none quite like the Federal
Emergency Relief Administration (FERA). Mr. Harry Hopkins of FERA set out the revitalize many
deteriorating relief programs . He did just that. FERA sent out five million dollars to local, depleted
relief programs in its first two hours alone ( Franklin D. Roosevelt 1). In some cases, mortgages had to
be refinanced in order to be saved; the Home Owners Loan Corporation was created to help with this
issue ( Franklin D. Roosevelt 3). As one can imagine, different groups of people were affected, and

1934 gave the Native Americans back the ownership of unallocated lands and put a stop to the selling
of any tribal lands ( Franklin D. Roosevelt 2). In some cases, Union Workers were favored over
others. The Wagner Act legalized practices such as

According to the number on the dice, players move either 1 6 spaces. If they land on a normal square,
they read the writing on the space aloud before obeying the instructions, whether it tells them to lose
or gain points or miss their next turn. If they land on a fortune square, (the large squares in the corner)
they pick up a fortune card, read the quote aloud and then flip it, where the fortune is. If the
background is red, that will mean that you just picked up a good fortune card, but if it is green it will
be bad. Then the player follows the instructions on it, alike to the normal squares where it might be
gaining or loss of points. If the player gains points, and if that means their total equals five they can
place a button on one of the dots leading up to the centre. If not, they simply mark another point on
their tally sheet, which is included in the game. If they lose a point and that means that their total is no
longer five but instead four, they take off their counter and mark on the tally sheet their amount of
points.
Order of turns: The game begins with the player who has rolled the highest amount on the dice. They
move off their fortune square and onto another square. Once all players have moved off of their
starting squares, the fortune squares are in play.
Ending the game: The game comes to a close when one player has reached the centre of the board,
with 20 points and 4 counters. However, you can play off for second, third and fourth

Essay About Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong
Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong (February 28, 1918 October 23, 2007) was a prominent wealthy Chinese born
Malaysian entrepreneur. He was renowned for his vision and courage in transforming Genting
Highlands from an unexplored hilltop into one of the world s most successful casino resorts. He
founded the Genting Group in 1965 to build the hilltop resort, which opened with a single hotel in
1971 and expanded to include, in addition to casinos, several hotels, a theme park, a golf course, and a
convention centre. He was once the third richest man in Malaysia with a net worth estimated to be 4.2

As he was enjoying the soothing and refreshing cool breeze of Cameron Highlands, an idea struck him
that in tropical Malaysia everybody likes to retreat to a cool mountain resort for holiday. He was also
convinced that as the standard of living rose steadily in a fast developing Malaysia, more and more
people would visit mountain resorts for relaxation and recreation, but Cameron Highlands was too far
away from the capital city Kuala Lumpur, therefore building a mountain resort nearer to Kuala
Lumpur would have great business potential. The moment he returned to Kuala Lumpur, he got hold
of a topographical map of the Bentong district and scanned it. Gunung (mountain in Malay) Ulu Kali
at a place called Genting Sempah caught his eyes. Rising 1,800 meters and just 58 km away from
Kuala Lumpur, Gunung Ulu Kali fitted perfectly as his ideal place for a mountain resort. Tan Sri Lim
formed an expedition and explored the place. During the expedition that lasted nine days and eight
nights, they gathered a wealth of data on the topography, drainage, soil conditions and other relevant
aspects of the region. This proved to be very useful in drawing up the plan for developing a

The Pros And Cons Of Pigeonholing
I have decided that since I am attempting to organize my thoughts into coherent and accordant
arguments, it is easier if each topic is framed as a question I can directly answer. The potential
downside of this approach is that I risk at making my responses too simplistic, forcing myself to take a
side. However, I am cognizant of that risk, and reserve the right to look at the potential answers to
each question as lying on a spectrum (or spectrums) of possibilities. I want to be able to focus my
topics without pigeonholing my responses.
There were a number of topics I considered for my first post. Even the process of brainstorming
helped me to categorize areas of interest and relative expertise. Looking at my groupings it is clear
that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If there is no objective reality, independent of our interpretation, then what is it we are sensing? Why
can separate people from different places and times look at the same thing and come to the same
conclusions? The only possible answer here is that there is something constant, objective, and
independent of their interpretation that exists. When I look at the night s sky and see the moon, it
usually looks light yellowish/cream coloured. Other people with slightly different biology and
experiences might see something slightly different, like light green perhaps, but certainly no one sees
a rainbow coloured unicorn. If they do, we would rightly conclude that there is something not working
properly somewhere. Even beings vastly different from ourselves might see something vastly different
than we see, but that would not change the truth that there is a moon there and it is not a rainbow
unicorn. Similarly, in my literature classes, I encourage my students to interpret the works for
themselves. However, if they want to argue that The Great Gatsby was actually set on Neptune in the
year 1734, they have a significant challenge ahead of them. There is a book there with words that have
meanings independent of their interpretation. This is the case for all of reality: There is an objective
truth there, and we bring our individual interpretations to

Acute Inflammation
The survival of all organisms requires that they eliminate foreign invaders, such as infectious
pathogens, and damaged tissues. These functions are mediated by a complex host response called

Definition of inflammation Inflammation is fundamentally a protective response, the ultimate goal of

consequences of such injury (e.g., necrotic cells and tissues)

V For Vendett The Role Of Anarchism In Society
Every since it s ideas were popularized in the media by the 2006 movie, V for Vendetta, anarchism has
been a topic of mass confusion and fierce discussion. In a general survey taken in Newton High
School, 1 out 30 people surveyed actually knew the definition of anarchism, where as the remaining
29 people believe the ideas of anarchism are purely chaotic, and advocate for lawlessness, which leads
me to the thesis statement of this essay: Anarchism is largely misconstrued in society. I m going to
prove that my thesis statement is true through the use of 3 main points: 1. What anarchism truly is, 2.
Different kinds of anarchism, and 3. The history of anarchism.
Anarchy, that word probably paints quite a mental portrait, something along the lines ... Show more

For all anarchists, freedom of the individual is humanity s purest treasure, and it has become their
chosen role to fight tirelessly for its survival. Even in the land of the free and home of the brave,
unfettered freedom is sought by few men, for it is a condition full of peril and heavy with
responsibility. Nor is the United States as close to the spirit of its national anthem as it once was. The
frontier is gone. Small farms and personal businesses are giving way to agricultural combines and big
industry, and the individual standing alone finds he has little influence in selecting his leadership or
shaping national policy. (Forman, 75). Using this excerpt from James D. Forman s book Anarchism,
political innocence or social violences? , one can deduce what anarchism is. Anarchism is a political
theory, which is skeptical of the justification of authority and power, especially political power. As I
mentioned early, Anarchy and Anarchism are two things, Anarchy is a condition of life without the
intrusion of governance and the mechanisms and institutions of the state, whereas Anarchism is
essentially the ideology in which Anarchy is achieved. That being said, there is a problem that occurs.
some anarchists believe that the best and only way to achieve anarchy is through anarchism. The
implication is that a majority of a given population would necessarily need to be anarchists, and only
one type of anarchist. This would result not in anarchy as a condition of existence, but of the
institutionalization of a particular type of

The Reason Why La Tomatina
The reason why La Tomatina is a big deal for people because it is a colorful tradition and make a good
excuse to show of young people throwing vegetables to each other. Before 2013 anywhere from forty
thousand to fifty thousand people crammed into this tomato fight. Numbers of people came to this
special celebration created a success. Last year s event bought some forty thousand people, due to
safety concerns of oversize of the crowd the organizers cut amount of people who were joining the
fight. It is almost unimportant in the landscape of popular Spanish celebrations. It was virtually
unknown outside of the small village where it is held until somehow it caught the eye of some major
media outlet. Another reason why some people do not participate is because they do not like tomato to
be thrown at. They replied that it is messy and people get hurt if they slip over. In this special
celebration, there is no political or religion importance to La Tomatina. In 1980, the organization of
the festival became the responsibility of the town. Soon this celebration became internationally
considerable and highly broadcasted by the use of international media. In the beginning, it was
forbidden in the early 1950 s but people spoke and the celebration was allowed with more contestants
and more frenetic feelings. The festivity was again cancelled till 1957, when as a sign of protest, the
tomato burial was held. Many parts of the world joined Tomatina like Chicago and etc. They also

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a long lasting disorder of the digestive system. The
disorder happens when the stomach acid or sometimes stomach content backs up into the food pipe
(esophagus). The reflux aggravates the lining of the food pipe and causes GERD. When the patient has
symptoms like acid reflux and heartburn at least twice a week or when those signs affect the daily life,

If the symptoms don t get better within a few weeks, the doctor suggests other treatments, which can
include medication and surgery. Treatment can start with OTC antacids like Maalox, Mylanta, Rolaids
and Tums to neutralize stomach acid. To reduce the production of stomach acid, H 2 receptor blockers,
which containing cimetidine, can be used. Some of these medications are Tagamet HB, Pepcid AC,
and Zantac. The antacids offer instant relief, whereas the H 2 receptor blockers don t act as quickly,
but can decrease acid production up to 12 hours to provide longer relief. They usually have to be taken
on a daily basis to be effective. If a stronger dose is needed, a prescription from the doctor is required.
Prevacid 24 HR, Prilosec and Zegerid OTC are proton pump inhibitors and are stronger blockers of
acid production than the H 2 receptor blockers and allow the damaged esophageal tissue time to heal.
If these medications are needed longer than two to three weeks or the symptoms are not relieved a
doctor should be consulted. Your doctor may suggest prescription medications if heartburn continues.
These can include prescription strength H 2 receptor blockers; Tagamet, Pepcid and Zantac, and
prescription strength proton pump inhibitors; Nexium, Prevacid, Zegerid, Protonix, Aciphex and
Dexilant. The use of these medications is generally tolerated. A slight increase in

The Anger In A Room Of One s Own By Virginia Woolf
The Anger of a Feminist Anger is a complex concept that is difficult for many to explain and manage,
just as it is for Virginia Woolf in the text A Room of One s Own. Anger is defined as That which pains
or afflicts, or the passive feeling which it produces; trouble, affliction, vexation, sorrow, yet this is far
from concrete and does not contain the multiple aspects that anger brings to mind. It does not provoke
the emotion in the reader itself as Virginal Woolf does in A Room of One s Own. She demonstrates her
rage quite frequently in a multitude of ways in an effort to let her audience understand her thoughts
and reasons. In this particular text, Virginia Woolf investigates her anger at the idea that many people

Virginia Woolf expresses her rage through her unflattering use of physical descriptions of the
professor, bringing her emotions into the physical world, creating a villain out of the professor, forcing
her audience to take her side. When Woolf s imagined speaker is reading in the library, she begins to
sketch the imaginary professor who had writing the book she was reading, titled The Mental, Moral,
and Physical Inferiority of the Female Sex. The speaker first describes this professor, Professor von X,
as not in my picture a man attractive to women, (Woolf 31). Because this is the first way in which she
describes him, it places a great weight on physical attributes. She says women would not find him
attractive, using his physical appearance to symbolize her opinion of his ideals. Any women in the
audience will be less likely to agree with his thoughts on inferiority since they are first judging him on
his described appearance, which is not particularly endearing. This description also implies that men
who think women inferior are less attractive to women, discouraging the behavior in any male
audience members. By degrading the sexist professor, she

The Uncommon Reader Analysis
The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett is an eye opener to many in the modern age as millennials
like myself who have dispersed of reading and have moved on to the modern age of technology. The
Uncommon Reader demonstrates how reading can attract many non readers and break certain
stereotypes toward reading. As someone who was an avid reader and has gradually left the books for
videos and social media. I hope to rediscover a connection with reading unlike the dying age of
readers in this era. Reading growing up has always fascinated me because with every book you never
know what to expect, further leading you to continue reading. Having this said, as time went on I grew
fonder of reading and started to explore many genres(fiction, nonfiction, fantasy). Books became a
world where I could escape and embody these characters who were facing many obstacles or
adventures. By reading The Uncommon Reader I surprisingly found myself reflecting the Queen, she
ultimately found herself disregarding the power of reading and soon turned out to become fond of it.
Even though the Queen led a life of royal responsibilities, through reading she gathered a new
perspective of the world. Having this said myself at a young age being only able to gather very
minimal experience from the world, reading allowed me to discover certain backgrounds that were
being conveyed from different points of view. Reading is more than just words on paper it is the idea

  • 3. Babbitt By Sinclair Lewis And How The Other Half Lives GENERAL INTRODUCTION. GIVE HISTORICAL CONTEXT. Both Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis and How the Other Half Lives by Jacob Riis expose injustice in society; however, Lewis establishes a connection between the unfulfilling American dream and hypocrisy of society in the 1920s in the middle class, and Riis exposes the gap between the impoverished and dangerous conditions of the poor and the uncaring or uneducated middle and upper class in the context of New York. Set in the 1920s, Babbitt captures both political and personal unrest, as well as social rebellion. Written in third person narrative, Babbitt s characters include political extremists and those with overt mistrust of the opposing political party: how Seneca Doane, a radical lawyer, is treated by society embodies this notion. In fact, most men that influence society blacklist Doane; men like William Enthrone and Virgil Gunch view Doane as a communist threat, and when Babbitt suddenly defends Doane and radical politics, these men are caught between complete disbelief and threatening mistrust. QUOTE. How the Other Half Lives by Jacob Riis is a nonfiction story that recounts Riis s life after immigrating to the United States from Denmark in 1870. When Riis first immigrated to the United States, he took low paying jobs, and during this time, he experienced the utter poverty in New York City. After rising in social standing, Riis found work as a police reporter for the New York Tribune; his work frequently brought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The variables of each area differ in relation to population, ethnicity, cultural practices, political affiliation, and etc. When accounting for variables in different geographical areas statistics can play a big role in the creation and implementation of new policy as well as making changes to policies which already exist. One policy which may stand out and has had an impact all over the country is the reformation of investigating officer involved critical incidents. Of course with any policy there will be some pros and cons the criminal justice system will have to work with. As with most critical incidents, local, state, and federal agencies gather, analyze and use statistical data in order to identify potential alarming trends and to determine whether or not any reform is needed. It is reasonable to state that situations involving officer involved shootings qualify as critical incidents; therefore, the statistical data regarding these incidents should be carefully and methodically analyzed. Utilization of the Federal Bureau of Investigation s Uniform Crime Reporting database serves as a tool to retrieve statistical data in regards to these incidents (UCR Officer Involved Shootings, 2016). • 8. The At The Statesboro Main Street Farmers Market From 10 On September 3, 2016, I was given the opportunity to serve at The Statesboro Main Street Farmers Market from 10:00am until 1:00pm. This event is open to the public from April to November every Saturday from 9:30am 12:30pm beside the Bulloch County Courthouse and Sea Island Bank. Here you will find many local vendors selling their own produce. This event is not limited to produce as you will also find locals selling jewelry, baked goods, crafts, and my personal favorite, coffee. Some locally owned stores other than farmers bring their business to the market such as Three Tree Coffee Roasters, Sugar Magnolia, Cork s Kettle Corn, B G Honey Farm, etc. With a small town feel, this charming location is perfect for the venue at hand. What was your role at the event? Upon arrival, I went to the information vendor located in the middle of the Farmers Market where I was greeted by other volunteers and Melanie Sparrow, who told me my responsibilites for the upcoming hours. My first duty was to hand out various advertisements for the upcoming GreenFest which will be held October 1st, 2016, across the street from the Farmers Market. As one can imagine, different groups of people were affected, and helped differently thorough out the Great Depression. For example, The Indian Reorganization Act of 1934 gave the Native Americans back the ownership of unallocated lands and put a stop to the selling of any tribal lands ( Franklin D. Roosevelt 2). In some cases, Union Workers were favored over others. The Wagner Act legalized practices such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If they land on a normal square, they read the writing on the space aloud before obeying the instructions, whether it tells them to lose or gain points or miss their next turn. If they land on a fortune square, (the large squares in the corner) they pick up a fortune card, read the quote aloud and then flip it, where the fortune is. If the background is red, that will mean that you just picked up a good fortune card, but if it is green it will be bad. Then the player follows the instructions on it, alike to the normal squares where it might be gaining or loss of points. If the player gains points, and if that means their total equals five they can place a button on one of the dots leading up to the centre. If not, they simply mark another point on their tally sheet, which is included in the game. If they lose a point and that means that their total is no longer five but instead four, they take off their counter and mark on the tally sheet their amount of points. Order of turns: The game begins with the player who has rolled the highest amount on the dice. They move off their fortune square and onto another square. Once all players have moved off of their starting squares, the fortune squares are in play. Ending the game: The game comes to a close when one player has reached the centre of the board, with 20 points and 4 counters. However, you can play off for second, third and fourth ... • 31. Essay About Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong (February 28, 1918 October 23, 2007) was a prominent wealthy Chinese born Malaysian entrepreneur. He was renowned for his vision and courage in transforming Genting Highlands from an unexplored hilltop into one of the world s most successful casino resorts. He founded the Genting Group in 1965 to build the hilltop resort, which opened with a single hotel in 1971 and expanded to include, in addition to casinos, several hotels, a theme park, a golf course, and a convention centre. He was once the third richest man in Malaysia with a net worth estimated to be 4.2 billion USD. The government of Malaysia honoured Lim with the title Tan Sri in 1979. As he was enjoying the soothing and refreshing cool breeze of Cameron Highlands, an idea struck him that in tropical Malaysia everybody likes to retreat to a cool mountain resort for holiday. He was also convinced that as the standard of living rose steadily in a fast developing Malaysia, more and more people would visit mountain resorts for relaxation and recreation, but Cameron Highlands was too far away from the capital city Kuala Lumpur, therefore building a mountain resort nearer to Kuala Lumpur would have great business potential. The moment he returned to Kuala Lumpur, he got hold of a topographical map of the Bentong district and scanned it. Gunung (mountain in Malay) Ulu Kali at a place called Genting Sempah caught his eyes. Rising 1,800 meters and just 58 km away from Kuala Lumpur, Gunung Ulu Kali fitted perfectly as his ideal place for a mountain resort. Tan Sri Lim formed an expedition and explored the place. During the expedition that lasted nine days and eight nights, they gathered a wealth of data on the topography, drainage, soil conditions and other relevant aspects of the region. This proved to be very useful in drawing up the plan for developing a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Pigeonholing I have decided that since I am attempting to organize my thoughts into coherent and accordant arguments, it is easier if each topic is framed as a question I can directly answer. The potential downside of this approach is that I risk at making my responses too simplistic, forcing myself to take a side. However, I am cognizant of that risk, and reserve the right to look at the potential answers to each question as lying on a spectrum (or spectrums) of possibilities. I want to be able to focus my topics without pigeonholing my responses. There were a number of topics I considered for my first post. Even the process of brainstorming helped me to categorize areas of interest and relative expertise. Looking at my groupings it is clear that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If there is no objective reality, independent of our interpretation, then what is it we are sensing? Why can separate people from different places and times look at the same thing and come to the same conclusions? The only possible answer here is that there is something constant, objective, and independent of their interpretation that exists. When I look at the night s sky and see the moon, it usually looks light yellowish/cream coloured. Other people with slightly different biology and experiences might see something slightly different, like light green perhaps, but certainly no one sees a rainbow coloured unicorn. If they do, we would rightly conclude that there is something not working properly somewhere. Even beings vastly different from ourselves might see something vastly different than we see, but that would not change the truth that there is a moon there and it is not a rainbow unicorn. Similarly, in my literature classes, I encourage my students to interpret the works for themselves. However, if they want to argue that The Great Gatsby was actually set on Neptune in the year 1734, they have a significant challenge ahead of them. There is a book there with words that have meanings independent of their interpretation. This is the case for all of reality: There is an objective truth there, and we bring our individual interpretations to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These functions are mediated by a complex host response called inflammation. Definition of inflammation Inflammation is fundamentally a protective response, the ultimate goal of which is to rid the organism of both the initial cause of cell injury (e.g., microbes, toxins) and the consequences of such injury (e.g., necrotic cells and tissues) The process of inflammation is usually described by the suffix itis [The components of the inflammatory reaction that destroy and eliminate microbes and dead tissues are capable of also injuring normal tissues. V For Vendett The Role Of Anarchism In Society Every since it s ideas were popularized in the media by the 2006 movie, V for Vendetta, anarchism has been a topic of mass confusion and fierce discussion. In a general survey taken in Newton High School, 1 out 30 people surveyed actually knew the definition of anarchism, where as the remaining 29 people believe the ideas of anarchism are purely chaotic, and advocate for lawlessness, which leads me to the thesis statement of this essay: Anarchism is largely misconstrued in society. I m going to prove that my thesis statement is true through the use of 3 main points: 1. What anarchism truly is, 2. Different kinds of anarchism, and 3. The history of anarchism. Anarchy, that word probably paints quite a mental portrait, something along the lines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For all anarchists, freedom of the individual is humanity s purest treasure, and it has become their chosen role to fight tirelessly for its survival. Even in the land of the free and home of the brave, unfettered freedom is sought by few men, for it is a condition full of peril and heavy with responsibility. Nor is the United States as close to the spirit of its national anthem as it once was. The frontier is gone. Small farms and personal businesses are giving way to agricultural combines and big industry, and the individual standing alone finds he has little influence in selecting his leadership or shaping national policy. (Forman, 75). Using this excerpt from James D. Forman s book Anarchism, political innocence or social violences? , one can deduce what anarchism is. Anarchism is a political theory, which is skeptical of the justification of authority and power, especially political power. As I mentioned early, Anarchy and Anarchism are two things, Anarchy is a condition of life without the intrusion of governance and the mechanisms and institutions of the state, whereas Anarchism is essentially the ideology in which Anarchy is achieved. That being said, there is a problem that occurs. some anarchists believe that the best and only way to achieve anarchy is through anarchism. The implication is that a majority of a given population would necessarily need to be anarchists, and only one type of anarchist. This would result not in anarchy as a condition of existence, but of the institutionalization of a particular type of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Reason Why La Tomatina The reason why La Tomatina is a big deal for people because it is a colorful tradition and make a good excuse to show of young people throwing vegetables to each other. Before 2013 anywhere from forty thousand to fifty thousand people crammed into this tomato fight. Numbers of people came to this special celebration created a success. Last year s event bought some forty thousand people, due to safety concerns of oversize of the crowd the organizers cut amount of people who were joining the fight. It is almost unimportant in the landscape of popular Spanish celebrations. It was virtually unknown outside of the small village where it is held until somehow it caught the eye of some major media outlet. Another reason why some people do not participate is because they do not like tomato to be thrown at. They replied that it is messy and people get hurt if they slip over. In this special celebration, there is no political or religion importance to La Tomatina. In 1980, the organization of the festival became the responsibility of the town. Soon this celebration became internationally considerable and highly broadcasted by the use of international media. In the beginning, it was forbidden in the early 1950 s but people spoke and the celebration was allowed with more contestants and more frenetic feelings. The festivity was again cancelled till 1957, when as a sign of protest, the tomato burial was held. Many parts of the world joined Tomatina like Chicago and etc. They also ... In the following I will talk about the characteristic of the disease, the causes and symptoms, the treatment of the disorder and how the relationship to other body systems is. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a long lasting disorder of the digestive system. The disorder happens when the stomach acid or sometimes stomach content backs up into the food pipe (esophagus). The reflux aggravates the lining of the food pipe and causes GERD. When the patient has symptoms like acid reflux and heartburn at least twice a week or when those signs affect the daily life, or the doctor sees damage to the food pipe, GERD can be diagnosed. If the symptoms don t get better within a few weeks, the doctor suggests other treatments, which can include medication and surgery. Treatment can start with OTC antacids like Maalox, Mylanta, Rolaids and Tums to neutralize stomach acid. To reduce the production of stomach acid, H 2 receptor blockers, which containing cimetidine, can be used. Some of these medications are Tagamet HB, Pepcid AC, and Zantac. The antacids offer instant relief, whereas the H 2 receptor blockers don t act as quickly, but can decrease acid production up to 12 hours to provide longer relief. They usually have to be taken on a daily basis to be effective. If a stronger dose is needed, a prescription from the doctor is required. Prevacid 24 HR, Prilosec and Zegerid OTC are proton pump inhibitors and are stronger blockers of acid production than the H 2 receptor blockers and allow the damaged esophageal tissue time to heal. If these medications are needed longer than two to three weeks or the symptoms are not relieved a doctor should be consulted. Your doctor may suggest prescription medications if heartburn continues. These can include prescription strength H 2 receptor blockers; Tagamet, Pepcid and Zantac, and prescription strength proton pump inhibitors; Nexium, Prevacid, Zegerid, Protonix, Aciphex and Dexilant. • 37. The Anger In A Room Of One s Own By Virginia Woolf The Anger of a Feminist Anger is a complex concept that is difficult for many to explain and manage, just as it is for Virginia Woolf in the text A Room of One s Own. Anger is defined as That which pains or afflicts, or the passive feeling which it produces; trouble, affliction, vexation, sorrow, yet this is far from concrete and does not contain the multiple aspects that anger brings to mind. It does not provoke the emotion in the reader itself as Virginal Woolf does in A Room of One s Own. She demonstrates her rage quite frequently in a multitude of ways in an effort to let her audience understand her thoughts and reasons. In this particular text, Virginia Woolf investigates her anger at the idea that many people consider women to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Virginia Woolf expresses her rage through her unflattering use of physical descriptions of the professor, bringing her emotions into the physical world, creating a villain out of the professor, forcing her audience to take her side. When Woolf s imagined speaker is reading in the library, she begins to sketch the imaginary professor who had writing the book she was reading, titled The Mental, Moral, and Physical Inferiority of the Female Sex. The speaker first describes this professor, Professor von X, as not in my picture a man attractive to women, (Woolf 31). Because this is the first way in which she describes him, it places a great weight on physical attributes. She says women would not find him attractive, using his physical appearance to symbolize her opinion of his ideals. Any women in the audience will be less likely to agree with his thoughts on inferiority since they are first judging him on his described appearance, which is not particularly endearing. This description also implies that men who think women inferior are less attractive to women, discouraging the behavior in any male audience members. By degrading the sexist professor, she ... The Uncommon Reader Analysis The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett is an eye opener to many in the modern age as millennials like myself who have dispersed of reading and have moved on to the modern age of technology. The Uncommon Reader demonstrates how reading can attract many non readers and break certain stereotypes toward reading. As someone who was an avid reader and has gradually left the books for videos and social media. I hope to rediscover a connection with reading unlike the dying age of readers in this era. Reading growing up has always fascinated me because with every book you never know what to expect, further leading you to continue reading. Having this said, as time went on I grew fonder of reading and started to explore many genres(fiction, nonfiction, fantasy). Books became a world where I could escape and embody these characters who were facing many obstacles or adventures. By reading The Uncommon Reader I surprisingly found myself reflecting the Queen, she ultimately found herself disregarding the power of reading and soon turned out to become fond of it. Even though the Queen led a life of royal responsibilities, through reading she gathered a new perspective of the world. Having this said myself at a young age being only able to gather very minimal experience from the world, reading allowed me to discover certain backgrounds that were being conveyed from different points of view.
