The document discusses where music videos can be found and viewed, the purposes of music videos, and examples of product placement in music videos. It states that the largest outlets for finding music videos are internet platforms like YouTube, which allow users to both view and upload videos. Music videos are used as marketing tools to promote artists' music and sell songs/albums. They can be performance-based, narrative-based, or a combination. Product placement in music videos is a way for companies to advertise their products by paying to feature them prominently in artists' videos. Several examples of product placement are given.
In compliance with the orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court in WP(Civil) No.196/2001, dated 14.9.2011 to the Government of India to provide necessary infrastructure and financial support for ensuring the computerization of PDS and the direction of the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Govt. of India, New Delhi to implement “End-to-End Computerization of TPDS Operations”, erstwhile Government of Andhra Pradesh got the software developed by State NIC basing on the framework given by NIC, Delhi. The software is in use since April’2013 in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts and has been rolled out to all the 10 districts of Telangana State in June’2014.
The whole concept of computerisation of PDS operations fall under 2 components. Component I deals with supply and distribution of PDS including ration card management and Component II deals with F P Shop automation. So ePDS and Supply Chain management (SCM) comprising of Component I was developed by State NIC. Hyderabad and RR district were chosen as pilots for ePDS and SCM is being piloted in Hyderabad District. The grievance redressal system is handled through toll free number in a call centre placed at the Office of the commissioner, Department of civil supplies. The calls are recorded and the resolution of the complaints is monitored.
ePDS (electronic Public Distribution System) is online software application catering to the Ration cards management, allocation and seeding of Aadhaar data. The processes involved in the distribution of Essential Commodities (ECs) to the BPL families are automated so as to bring efficiency, accountability and transparency to the PDS of Civil Supplies Department. The initiative was taken up as per GOI orders for end to end computerization of PDS to arrest the leakage of subsidy.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2. Who are the main television companies
which show videos?
Broadcasting in over 50 countries, MTV
was arguably one of the largest and most
popular music channels. Recognised by
many, it has launched and accelerated the
careers of not only music stars.
3. The channel was launched as part of MTV Networks
Europe localisation strategy in 1997. MTV UK
(previously MTV UK & Ireland and MTV One) was
launched on 1st
July 1997. The channel was
established to provide audiences with local artists
and more relevant music content. Prior to the
localisation of MTV in Europe, the region was served
by MTV Europe (this specific channel broadcasting
to the whole of Europe), this channel was launched
on 1st
August 1987. Since February 2011, MTV has
been solely an entertainment channel and relocated
to the “Entertainment” section on Sky, and later
Virgin Media.
The channel is in over 10 million homes in the UK.
4. YouTube is a leading market website, owned by Google,
YouTube is a video-sharing website created by three former PayPal
employees. The site allows users to upload, view, and share videos.
The site makes use of WebM.264/MPEG-4AVC (a format used for
recording, compression and distribution of video content) and
Adobe Flash Video technology to display a wide variety of user-
generated and corporate media video. Available content includes
video clips, music videos, and other content such as video blogging,
short original videos and educational videos.
While most of YouTube's content has been uploaded by
individual's, media corporations such as CBS, the BBC, Vevo, Hulu
and other organisations offer their material through the site.
Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered viewers can
upload their own videos to their channel. Videos considered to
contain potentially offensive content are available only to registered
users after affirming their name of over 18.
5. All the elements raised in my previous slide emphasise how convenient
YouTube is for Music Videos to reach a mass audience, thus helping the
record companies and the band or artist. For example:
Users are able to upload their own material which may promote the
artist/band's music video- fan-made videos, song covers, parodies, song
reactions, instrumentals
Companies are able to upload even more content which might promote the
song video. e.g. trailers, teasers,“Behind the scenes” of the video, interviews
with the band/artist (it allows the user to become more connected to the
artist as they are given the opportunity to see them as a “real person” and
therefore want to watch/listen to their material and consequently make buy
from them. It also allows them to appreciate the work more, they are able to
watch the actual video after the bonus features and appreciate the work that
went into it, further allowing the user to relate to the artist/band)
6. Where can you find music videos?
The internet is the biggest and best outlet to find
music videos. Everything there is now at the click
of a button. Whereas, just over a decade ago, you
perhaps had to wait, if you wanted to watch a
specific video, for a music channel to broadcast it.
You can see view music videos through television
channels of course, however, this is not as instant
as the world wide web.
7. What are the purpose of music videos?
A music video is a short film that includes song and imagery,
produced for visual, artistic or promotional purposes.
Music videos are used as a marketing tool also to sell the artist’s
music (making the audience interested by the song/artist/album)
There are three types of a music video; performance, narrative and
mixed (combination of the two)
Music videos are a good way for directors and film makers their
creativity and passion.
There are also various ways in which music videos use a wide
range of techniques and styles in order to promote their video;
these include animation and time-lapse.
8. Another purpose of a music video is to sell the song and for you,
the audience, to remember it. If the video is memorable , you are
more likely to want to listen to more of the artist's material or revert
back to the original song and listen several times; thus being more
inclined to buy it.
If the video is a narrative, it allows the audience to become more
emotionally involved within the story.
Music videos also help to promote CDs and related DVDs to their
target audience.
Music videos also give record companies the opportunity to witness
new and upcoming talent. They could 'snatch' the artist up- making
money for themselves and the artist.
9. Product placement
“Any form of audio-visual commercial
communication consisting of the inclusion of or
reference to a product, a service or the trade mark
thereof so that it is featured within a programme
[in our case, music video], in return for payment or
for similar consideration”- in other words, when a
company pay the artist/band or record company to
advertise their product in the artist/band's video.
For example...
10. Here, we can see how Dr. Dre's Beats audio speakers are advertised within Nicki Minaj's “Pills N Potions”
video (note how he, like Minaj is also a rapper and therefore also targeting his audience).
Nicki is also managing to premiere her third official perfume, Minajesty Exotic in
the video too (the bottle is seen above).
Kathy Beth Terry- Perry's alter ego in the video for “Last
Friday Night (TGIF)- is seen playing “Just Dance” with friends. Displaying the best
way to play “Just Dance”, with your loved ones, having a good time.
11. In Britney Spear’s “Hold It Against Me”, she has several
amounts of product placement throughout her video. These
include her own 2010 fragrance, “Radiance”; a “Make Up For
Ever” palette; the dating site “Plenty of Fish” and Sony
products.
The advertisement of Fiat 500 in Charlie Puth
and Megan Trainor’s song “Marvin Gaye”.
12. A protagonist in Fun.’s video “We Are Young” is
seen texting and using her Windows’ HTC Titan.
An Ice watch, Nokia Windows phone, Swarovski are all products blatantly
advertised in Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull “Live It Up” video.
