2. Copyright/intellectual property rights
Copyright protects the work of creators.
It covers area of copyright, trademark law and patent.
In my print product, I can’t use someone else’s imagery if it is
copyrighted, unless I ask them or the company for permission. I can
also copyright my imagery to avoid someone else stealing my work and
not giving credit.
3. Slander/libel
Slander is the use of spoken word to damage someone’s reputation.
Libel is a written statement which will damage someone reputation.
In the UK, people, with evidence, can sue for slander or libel.
In my print product, I won’t use any statements that will ruin anyone’s reputation
since this could lead to me being sue by the person.
4. Royalties
A payment to the original creator when there is a sale of their work. For
example when the band’s album is brought or downloaded, the band
will receive their share of the revenue.
This will effect my print product in the fact that I won’t be able to use
royalty free imagery with out paying a certain fee.
5. Violence
Violence is when physical aggression is used in order to hurt or kill
someone.
This means I won’t use imagery of anything violent or that would upset
someone, for example, a gun or knife. This is because I don’t want the
band to be associated with the negativity violence implies.
6. Offensive language/behaviour/material
This is behaviour which is unwanted and makes people feel
uncomfortable. It can be swear words or offensive gestures.
Swear words and rude actions will not be seen or used in my print
product in case of offending someone and give the band the
incorrect image.
7. Public Interest
Public Interest is the recognition of the general public and making sure
a product is suitable for majority of people or is in the best interest of
the public.
Because of this I will make sure my product is appropriate for the public
eye, making sure to not offended anyone.
9. BASCA (British Academy of Songwriters, Composters and Authors)
BASCA are the voice for music writers for all genres. They include
Insurance, legal advice, sample contracts, discounts and access to
seminars, masterclasses and networking opportunities.
• They will be able to help with the legal issues with the product and
sort out the contracts.
• They will be able to say what can be legally put in the print add,
stating whether it is offensive or damaging someone reputation.

10. MPA (Music Publisher Association)
MPA represent some of the UK’s music publishing sector. It acts on
behalf of 240 members ranging from the UK’s largest and most
established music publishers to independent and start-ups.
I would use this company to published my bands music.

11. PRS (Performing Rights Society)
PRS pay royalties to their members once it has been performed,
broadcast, streamed, downloaded, reproduced, played in public,
supporting and hosting awards.
PRS will make sure the band is earning revenue when their music is
play or performed. They will also make sure the band are represented
in the correct manner for my print product.

12. OFCOM (Office of Communications)
Ofcom is the regulator for the communications services that we use
and rely on each day. they have now also made a rule that the BBC
must play a more diversity of song, including songs for upcoming
bands.
This will be perfect for my band meaning their music will be played on
the radio since they are new.

13. PPL(Phonographic Performance Limited)
PPL licenses recorded music played in public or broadcast and then
distributes the licence fees to its performer and recording rights holder
members.
They will make sure the artist and record label are represented
correctly on the print product. They will also license the band’s music in
order for them to earn revenue.

14. BPI (British Phonographic Industry)
BPI includes more than 400 independent music companies and the
UK’s major record companies – Universal Music UK, Sony Music UK,
and Warner Music UK
The Official Charts is responsible for the commissioning, distribution,
marketing and promotion of the UK’s industry standard music and
video charts and sales data.
They will represent my company in marketing, this means they will be
sure my print product is
