Let s Put Pornography Back In The Closet Analysis
In the article Let s Put Pornography Back in the Closet, the writer tries to identify and define
what pornography and obscenity is. According to the text, feminists believe that pornography is
anything that aims to cause harm to the image of what it means to be a woman. It also includes
any source that depicts the female body being harmed in any way to please the viewer s sexual
fantasies. Brownmiller adds to the feminist definition by stating that when any person is being
degraded or humiliated for the purpose of fulfilling sexual needs it should also be classified as
pornographyand obscenity. Along with her definitions for pornography and obscenity, the writer
also identifies the First Amendment and how it relates to her topic. The... Show more content on

In today s society things that may be considered obscene and pornographic are much more easily
attained by the average person. She believes that one of the reasons porn is so easily accessible
to the public is because many people cannot differentiate between pornography, obscenity and
modern art or literature; what is considered vulgar and distasteful by some, can also be thought
of as beautiful and classy by others. Brownmiller explains that the women portrayed in
magazines today are photoshopped to represent what a desirable woman is supposed to look
like; this has led many women, including the writer, to feel ashamed and uncomfortable with
their bodies. It is because of these reasons that the writer feels that there should be restrictions on
what is allowed to be provided and distributed to the public. She also believes that the
government needs to use today s societal norms, which apply to the everyday average person to
figure out what should be allowed to be released to the public. The writer states at the end of her
article that she doesn t believe the government should prohibit what she defines as vulgar and
distasteful pornography and obscenity, but requests that it should be removed from every day public

Coherentism and Foundationalism
Foundationalism vs. Coherentism Throughout history, philosophers have been trying to come up
with a clear way to provide the justification of our beliefs and knowledge. Noah Lemos offers
readers explanations of both foundationalism and coherentism for theories of justification. These
two different theories offer very different ways to explain the basis of our beliefs. For a
foundationalist, they believe that all of our beliefs can be broken down until we reach a basic
belief. This belief would be largely independent of other beliefs and not derived from other beliefs.
A coherentist feels that a belief can be reasonably justified if it is coheres with our other beliefs. The
foundationalist theory of justification boils everything... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A coherentist however, would justify that the pot is hot through other beliefs that cohere with
this belief. Some of these coherent beliefs would be: the remaining coffee in the pot is hot, the
coffee is freshly brewed which would mean it is hot, I can see steam coming from the coffee in
my mug, the coffee I ve had every other day this week from the same pot have been hot and I can
feel the warmth from the mug in my hand. All of these beliefs are not basic as a foundationalist
would like, but they all cohere and provide reasonable justification for me to believe that the
coffee in my mug is hot. It is my opinion that coherentists have a better argument for beliefs, and
more specifically, this example. While I do think that there are many basic beliefs that are
justified simply because they just are, I am not convinced that all the beliefs we have in this
world can be broken down quite in this way. I do however, feel that many of our beliefs are
based in a web of other believes that all support each other. I know that my coffee is hot for
many reasons, one being that I can feel it. I don t think that I necessarily need to break it down
into experiences when I have many other clues that could more easily justify my belief. There
are so many clues and beliefs around me to justify my belief that it s not necessary to try and
deduce anything. There are way too many complicated beliefs in the world that I do not feel they
can all be traced back to basic

Green Knight Chivalry Essay
Hold the Door Open for Yourself (Analysis of Chivalry in Green Knight and Arthur) Being a
feminist, though, does not mean that you have to be against men. , Abbie Hebron from
Distinguished Young Woman says, this quote to show that is is not just the men who are to
blame for the decline in chivalry. This quote represent the large debate on chivalry in today s
societies. Some people want and some people don t, it is very hard to please the masses.
Chivalry originated in the medieval ages, during a time of great stories. Like the most popular
Arthur. This story showcases the original intentions for chivalry especially with the character
Arthur. In the stories Arthur and Green Knight chivalry is present in many ways. The story of
Arthur and excalibur is a great one, this story shows chivalry extremely well. On page 186

and care for those women. That is the basis of chivalry, to respect woman. Emily Esfahani Smith

Tati 3 Worlds
Q1: What are the specificities of the three worlds displayed in the film? In the film, there were
three worlds displayed all separate from each other but still holding the same image for something
happening in France at the time. The new city showed signs of the advancing world the Tati had
lived in during the 1950 s. In the 1950 s France was recovering from war efforts from WWII. The
new world shows how France was rebuilding many structures and factories, and how these things
were not in common of what the old world was. Many of the streets had also been in non

In the new world, everything was mostly gray. If there was color, it was very vibrant and
centralized to a specific location. For example, the car showed different colors of being pink and
green. The old world on the other hand had tons of colors. Everything was colorful, very little gray
was around, and it all just seemed more interesting to the viewer. This various range of colors had to
do with the idea that Tati was hinting that even though the new world has tons of different and new
technologies, there was not as much culture within it. The old world had lively colors, showing
how different the two worlds really were. In fact, Tati might have been showing how to new

The True Value of Time and how it Affects humanity Time is precious, the one thing no one can
control. In the story, Machine Stops, written by E. M. Forster, life today has changed drastically
from what was known yesterday and much of life lived in the past has been forgotten. A life
lived today revolves around the Machine that takes care of simple tasks by the click of a button,
for anything else would be a waste of time. The meaning of age, the importance of ideas, the
emotions that follow have all been pushed aside, once everything s been taken care of by the
Machine. People who live on the Machine are now more anxious than previous generations; their

United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower s Atom For...
Speech Analysis
United States president Dwight D. Eisenhower Atoms for peace speech was delivered on
December 8, 1953 (during the Cold War) to the United Nations General Assembly in New York
City, due to the end of World War II and the attacks of Hiroshima and Nagasaki the development of
nuclear weapons were rapidly increasing and therefore, destroying the nation. I will analyze this
historical speech according to the five cannons of rhetoric.
Invention:
Eisenhower s goal was to explain the necessity of using the way by which the miraculous
inventiveness of man shall not be dedicated to his death, but consecrated to his life. Using nuclear
technology for peace instead of destruction without intending to start a war but as a preventative
measure and a symbol of strength. Dwight D. Eisenhower says But the dread secret and the fearful
engines of atomic might are not ours alone applying pathos as his rhetorical strategy by using
loaded language and evoking emotions from his audience giving them knowledge that not only our
allies, but also our enemies, knew of the power of atomic ammunition. He uses hard evidence as
well as logos to gain credibility from his audience, by reminding them and providing evidence that
on July 19, 1945, the United States set off the world s first atomic explosion . This showed the
importance of the accomplishment in American history. The speech took place in the United
Nations Headquarters in New York City.

The Legalization Regulation Of The Sex Trade Essay
This paper argues for the decriminalization plus regulation of the sex trade. This paper will defend
the position that activities associated with adult prostitution (advertising, buying, soliciting, living
off the avails and keeping a bawdy house) should be decriminalized/ legalized due to: a) the
capacity for criminalization to infringe on sex worker s fundamental rights to life, liberty, and
security and b) the capacity for criminalization to prohibit sex worker s from actively preventing
harm to oneself. Philosophical support for this position will come from arguments rooted in human
rights perspective, John Stuart Mills harm principle and arguments rooted in feminist theory. The
harm principle contends it is only justifiable to interfere with the autonomy or liberty of adults in
order to prevent harm (physical harm deprivation of rights and liberties) occurring to other persons
. Whereas feminist theory consists of a view rooted in gender equality rights and social justice. This
paper will discuss and respond to criticisms and objections rooted in legal moralism, and welfare
paternalism that support the criminalization of prostitution. Furthermore, this paper will draw upon
arguments from Prostitution Reference, and Supreme Court of Canada s Bedford Case; where
judges and litigants interpreted criminalization of activities related prostitution within the context
of (s.213) communication, (s. 210) keeping a bawdyhouse, and (s.212) living off the avails.

Animal Testing And Veterinary Purposes
Scientists told to stop wasting animal lives, this is an article from The Guardian, written by Robin

medicines to try help treat serious illnesses and also for veterinary purposes. Animal testing is
carried out by scientists to also test items we use daily such as makeup but this article is not talking

Some statistics that overwhelmed me was that in Great Britain, 2013, 4.12 million scientific
procedures were done on animals, they were mostly rats and mice. About half of them involved
animals being gentically modified when breeding. The other half involved experiments on normal
animals, 58% of those were carried out for regular research, 26% for human medicine and only a
frightening 8% for veterinary purposes. I personally think that scientists just keep using animals
because their project isn t flawless and because they don t care about the animals and use as much

Symbolism In Battle Royal, By Ralph Ellison
I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I could
answer (Ellison 527). Battle Royal , by Ralph Ellison, follows a story told by a man that the
reader only knows as invisible . He believes that he is equal to everyone else until he is invited to
Battle Royal to deliver a speech that was given the previous day for his graduation. At Battle
Royal, he experiences multiple trials throughout the story. Everyone leaves he finally gets to tell
his speech to the important people in the room. Symbolism is used by an author to give the story
a deeper meaning. In Foster s book, How To Read Literature Like a Professor, he has a chapter
called He s Blind For a Reason, You Know (209 214). In this chapter, Foster explains how blindness
is used to show that the character is blind to what is going on around him. He also says, if you
want your audience to know something important about your character (or the work at large),
introduce it early (213). In Battle Royal the narrator is at one point blindfolded. The blindfold is a
symbolof blindness. Ellison introduced this symbol very first, just as Foster said an author would
do to get the reader s attention. The so called invisible man says, Looking up front, I saw
attendants in white jackets rolling the portable ring away and placing a small square rug in the...

Treatment Of Drug Use And Drug Abuse Essay
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (2012), the intention of drug addiction treatment
is to help addicted individuals stop compulsive drug use and drug seeking behavior (p. 8).
Substance use is a timeless practice of cultures around the world and can be found in religious
ceremonies, celebratory engagements, and family gatherings. Substance abuse and addictionhas also
been lurking in the shadows of history and has morphed into what some are calling an epidemic
today. Treatment for addiction is a necessary service all over the world, but the methods and
modalities of its practice have changed throughout history often being molded by federal policy. In
the following pages I will discuss some of these changes to treatment in the 20th century in the
United States.
According to Henninger and Sung (2014), in the late 1940s the Minnesota Model was introduced as
a new method to treat alcoholism. The Minnesota Model included mutual respect for participants
instead of shame and degradation. One of the first facilities to utilize the Minnesota Model was
Willmar State Hospital in Minnesota. The Willmar State Hospital staff eventually developed the
model which was based on insisting that treatment include a multidisciplinary and holistic approach.
The staff at Willmar also believed that professionalization of addiction treatment was necessary to
appropriately treat patients. This progression of change to the Minnesota Model would mean that

Christmas Nativity Scene Analysis
Most Christians grew up associating the nativity scene with Christmas, so it is hard to imagine
that the first nativity scene only appeared about 800 years and more than 1200 years after the birth
of Christ. According to the Archdiocese of St. Louis, the story of the first nativity scene is actually
an important reminder that we are called to be good stewards

Walking alone Prospect Pack on Monday, I saw one of the biggest Christmas trees around the

the scene with about 35 foot balsam fir alongside the creche. You don t need to be religious, to

These developments in transportation allowed for easier distribution of goods, thus benefitting

leading to an evident economic gap between the North and the South, as the former s economy

by the South due to the vast plantations that the road and canal systems would interrupt. As
economic, social, and political differences between the country began to be more evident, the
government struggled even more to keep the country as one. In late 1819, Missouri requested for

to allow for decentralization and empowerment, where the individual branch manager s expected
behaviour becomes so complicated that simple governance by rules is unfeasible. In this case,
individual behaviour is more regulated by individual competence, and individual and shared values
(Ouchi 1980; Dolan Garcia 2002) than by rules. Organizational culture may be defined as an
interdependent set of shared values and ways of behaving that are common to the organization
and tend to perpetuate themselves (Kotter Heskett 1992). Organizational culture has been
assumed to have important implications, not only for the individual s affective reactions to
organizational life, but also for the organizational performance (Kotter Heskett 1992; Harris
Mossholder 1996; Dwyer et al. 2000; Kemp Dwyer 2001; Dolan Garcia 2002; Tepeci Bartlett
2002). Chan et al. (2004) have suggested that organizational culture can be a valuable resource for
companies, especially for service industries. In spite of the obvious call for knowledge about
organizational culture and performance in the restaurant and hospitality industry, relatively little
research has been conducted so far. Studies to date have mainly been in depth case studies (e.g.

DID, the criteria used for diagnosis, causes and triggers of disorder, how the disorder is portrayed
in the media and the reality of the disorder for sufferers.

The information found in the two books is valid sources for research because they specialize in
discussing all the major aspects of the disorder and also explain some of the history behind
common beliefs about the disorder.
There are various symptoms to this disorder, which include:
Multiple mannerisms, which do not relate to each other
Hearing voices of different personalities in their minds
Panic attacks that are frequent
Flashbacks to traumas
Hallucinations
Poor concentration
Erratic behaviour
Depersonalization watching oneself while doing something and having no control over it The
diagnostic criterion of Dissociative Disorder includes a number of various characteristics that a
typical schizophrenic has.
The criteria for 300.14 Dissociative Identity Disorder consists of:
The presence of two or more distinct identities or personality states (each with its own relatively
enduring pattern of perceiving, relating to and thinking about the environment and self)

The Effects Of Sugar Intake On Individuals
Introduction In the United States there are numerous Americans that suffer from Type 2 Diabetes,
too much sugar intake, and being overweight. Additionally, there are numerous debates as to which
sweetener, honey, fructose, or high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is consequentially better for
people. Many argue that each have different metabolic effects on individuals, while other experts
claim all three have basically the same effects. While this topic is quite controversially and a fairly
new concept, most experts and researchers tend to agree that reducing any type of sugarintake can
decrease excessive body weight and the chance of suffering from diabetes, obesity, and an array of
other health complications. The Institute of Medicine suggests no more than 25% of daily energy
should be consumed as sugars. (Raatz, Johnson, and Picklo, 2015). However, the American Heart
Association has different scales based on gender and calorie intake. There are other suggestions as
well, which in turn leads to confusion for the average consumer.
Hypothesis
The authors, Raatz, Johnson and Picklo, based out of the University of Minnesota, performed an
experiment to test three popular nutrient sugars on glucose tolerant and intolerant individuals:
honey, sucrose, and HFCS. HFCS is said to be the worse sweetener for health on the market
followed by sucrose. On the other hand honey is thought to be the natural sweetener based on its
supposed ability to provide the body with

Who Is A Father Figure In Death Of A Salesman
The importance of a strong father figure in a family can sometimes be overlooked. Kids, and
especially boys, idolize their father throughout their younger and even into their adult life.
Children take anything that their father says as truth and see what they do as the only way to live.
In Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller portrays how the absence of a father taking on the role of
raising his children can affect the children for the rest of their life.
Willy Loman, the father of Biff and Happy Lowman, is an example of the lasting effect you can
have on your children when avoiding the responsibility of raising them. Willy spends his life
pursuing the American Dream. He exhaust himself in trying to gain fame and fortune, putting off

he knew what Willy was doing was going against certain rules. In doing so Biff grows up
believing he too wasn t bound by any social rules or expectations. This leads to Biff becoming a
thief, even if it were stealing little things. Willy fails as a father by encouraging Biff s little thefts
rather than disciplining him. Biff is never able to keep a steady job and falls with his father into
the pit of failure.
Happy in this story is almost identical to Willy. Willy casts Happy into the same pursuit of
illusionary dreams and unrealistic expectations. Happy, like Willy, desires nothing more than
chasing after the American Dream. He is quite successful in his job but is never content. He is
driven by his sexuality and overweening pride. Happy goes throughout life wondering why

would be very successful. Happy is anything but happy. The fact that Willy named his sonHappy is

Deviance Essay Sociology
Deviance as a sociological term does not mean perversion or depravity, deviance is exhibiting
behavior that violates the standards of conduct or expectations of a group or society. When on
the topic of deviance, we are discussing the violation of social norms. Social norms are the rules
that a group uses for appropriate and inappropriate values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. These
rules may be explicit or implicit, meaning they are either expressed clearly or simply implied
indirectly. There are many different causes of deviance, willingly or unwillingly. When talking
about deviance, a person can get a deviant identity in many ways. You can look at it in terms of
physical or behavioral characteristics. When people acquire a deviant role, it is common to be
viewed in a negative way by many people. One cause of deviance can be viewed through the
labeling theory which attempts to explain why people are viewed as deviants, delinquents, bad
kids, losers, and criminals, while others whose behavior is similar are not seen in such harsh
terms. It looks at how people become labeled as deviant or accept that label. In theory, though
everyone may be doing things that appear... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory suggests that our connection to members of society leads us to systematically
conform to society s norms. In other words, our family members, friends, and peers attempt to
lead us to follow the mores and folkways or our own society. Rather than focussing on deviant
control, the control theory focusses on why deviance is not done more often. Driving forces that
lead us to behave well when maintaining social bonds are attachment, commitment, involvement
and beliefs. Reputations are created within communities which create a reason for people to
compel to the social norm of society, and follow rules or laws created. When people become
involved in their community, doing harm to it as a deviant could be doing harm to them as

With smaller and less productive countries in the Eurozone losing its macroeconomic sovereignty,
the competitiveness of Eurozone countries is now determined by its productivity of labour and

With a common currency in the eurozone, the possibility for south European countries to
depreciate their currencies in order to boost their exports becomes obsolete. On top of that, the
lower productivity relative to wages becomes more obvious in single currency area where prices
are then dictated by the amount of labour costs. [Zitat jep germany] At the same time, Germany

Advantages Of Schema Theory
Schema Theory states that humans organize information about the world into social and textual
schemas. Schemata are models of concepts that serve as shortcuts to understanding or predicting
our perceptions. They are cognitive structures that are affected by our culture and prior experiences.
Schemata are culture specific and oversimplify reality, and can lead to stereotypes, prejudice, social
roles and reconstructive memory. The schematheory was first developed by Jean Piaget in 1926. He
argued that children learned through existing schemas and preconceived ideas of the world. These
schemas are either assimilated or accommodated. Assimilation is when you add to your knowledge
bank of existing schemas. Accommodation is when you change your... Show more content on

One of the strengths of the schema theory is that it has been proven very helpful in the explanation
of how cognitive operations function (e.g. reasoning, perception and reasoning). Schemata help
interpret situations and comprehend social issues such as bias and the creation of stereotypes. It
has also contributed to the understanding of reconstructive memory and memory distortion. This
theory is testable and a wide range of studies provide evidence for it such as the Bartlett (1932)
The War of Ghosts and Brewer and Treyens (1981) Experiment on memory of objects in a room.
There is also biological research to support the idea that our brain processes information through
categorization. The Caramazza (2009) study demonstrated that our brains automatically classify
information about living and nonliving objects, in the same way that schema theory suggests.
Schema Theory can also be applied to several fields of psychology such as abnormal psychology
(Beck s Cognitive Theory of Depression), health psychology (health campaigns) and human
relationships (violence and bullying). Schema theory is applied cross culturally although most of
the research has been conducted in the West. One of the limitations of the schema theory is that it
is still unclear how schemas are constructed and where they originate from, although many
psychologists argue they stem from cultural frameworks (traditions, values, myths and customs).
Also, it is difficult to explain how these mental representations influence mental processes, because
it is impossible to observe how schema processing occurs in the brain. Another limitation is that
schema theory mainly focuses on the errors in recalling memory when in reality people usually
remember correctly. Overall, with the amount of strengths and limitations of schema theory, the
strengths conclusively outweigh

Part 1A Critique Quantitative
Research Question
What is the diagnostic accuracy of a new dynamic clinical test for the detection of meniscal tears?
a)This might be of relevance because the current diagnostic gold standard (MRI) is expensive and
not always available.
b)Are current testing methods inaccurate? Are clinical tests inadequate compared to MRI?
Introduction seemed contradictory; as seventy five per cent accuracy of diagnosis can be made on
history alone (Daniel, 1982; DeHaven, 1975) followed by specific clinical tests with above average
accuracy. Very brief essentially, non existent literature review. Besides mention of the population
susceptible to meniscal injury, other relevant information pertaining to the injury wasn t briefed.
Such as, the mechanism of injury as well as the classic signs and symptoms experienced by an
individual after meniscal pathology. Neither the introduction nor the brief literature review goes
over what exactly sensitivity and specificity imply in the results. Sensitivity being how good the test
is at detecting meniscal tears and specificity being how good the test is at identifying normal knee
(Mohan, 2007). Also, there is no mention of what constitutes a false positive and a false negative
result encountered during

What Are Respirators Are Common Today And Household Settings
Respirators are defined by Merriam Webster as, a device worn over the mouth and nose to protect
the respiratory tract by filtering out dangerous substances (as dusts or fumes) from inhaled air
(Merriam Webster). The use of respirators are common today in both industrial and household
settings. The earliest known idea for a respiratorcan be traced to Pliny the Elder over 1900 years
ago. He suggested the use of wearing animal bladders to protect Roman mine workers from
inhaling red oxide of lead (OSHA). In 1854, John Stenhouse developed a respirator using
powdered charcoal (see Figure 1) that could be used for protection from gas. Stenhouse s

Wet laid process
The wet laid process is a modified version of a process that is used to create paper. There are
various methods that can be utilized based on the needs of the finished product, production,
demand, etc. The particular wet laid process that was utilized in this experiment yielded a mat
that was approximately 12 x12 with varying thickness, based on the mass of material used. One
mat could be produced approximately every hour, with an additional two hours needed for the
drying of each mat. The material is mixed with a dispersal agent, flocculating agent, and a resin.
The process involved the mixing of the chemicals, along with the material. The resulting mixture is
then added to the suction box and filled with more water. A vacuum is then pulled by opening a
valve below the suction box, resulting in a mat of the material on the mesh bottom of the suction
box.
This project was a continuation of prior research conducted by Meghan Moore. She investigated
how the efficiency of using activated carbon fiber compared to traditional filtering face piece

Ailuropoda melanoleuca (Giant Panda), Ursus maritimus (Polar Bear), and Ursus americanus

small, blind, and consist of a little or no hair. Within a few months, the cub s eyes are open and
they begin to develop their natural hair colour as well as begin to crawl. At four to twenty four
months, the cub is able to run, hunt, and start eating solid food. Once a cub turns two years, they
become very independent. At this age, the cub will decide whether they want to stay with or leave

always, there is a question pending as to what should the situation be inside a classroom. Nobody

Most students especially those younger need to be attracted to a particular subject or topic, one that
just grabs their attention, in order to pay attention and to learn from that subject. One such example
is when I entered the 8th grade with a hate for mathematics, but after being taught by a very well
educated professor, I managed to start liking algebra and becoming more and more intrigued as the
course went on.
When I used to be in elementary school, I would only find interest in those topics I thought were
exciting and interesting such as science and drawing. Whenever a teacher would tell us to draw
or sketch a picture, a smile immediately grew on my face and I lightened up with joy since I
loved to draw. My love of art made me one of the most talented kids at school with that gift. I
believe that a dedicated person must push his or her limitations to the maximum of their potentials
to be educated and to succeed even though he or she may not like what theyre being taught, but that
person must still push themselves to become interested in order to do well in that subject at the
same time.
Another example is how I am studying to go into the pharmacy field by taking classes I may
dislike such as biology, physics, and calculus. I may loathe these classes, but in order for me to

Characteristics Of A Resilient Business Organization
The word resilience comes from the latin world salire , which means to spring up and the word
resilire which means to spring back as well as resilo which means the ability to rebound or jump
back (Resnick, Lisa, and Gwyther, 2011; Dalziell and McManus, 2004; Pflanz and Lewis, 2012;
Rochas, Kuznecova and Romagnoli, 2014).
A theoretical model is presented identifying the pertinent features that characterize a resilient
business organization. Drawing on the systems theory literature, a business is firstly characterized
in terms of its technical, social and economic sub systems. Secondly, the kinds of disruptions
business system might need to guard against are identified according to local, national and global
spheres of influence. Thirdly, that resilient business system must attend to the goals of redundancy,
requisite variety and resources. Finally, when these attributes (sub systems, spheres of influence
goals) are connected certain business artifacts become evident as critical to enabling organizational
resilience.
Resilience is seen as an organizational capability, to anticipate key events from emerging trends,
constantly adapt to change and rapidly bounce back from disaster (Marcos, 2008). Resilient
organizations always strive to be prepared for the best, but also for the worst where organizational
learning inward and outward is nurtured and encouraged. The fusion of personal talent with
productive environments and a balanced approach to managing explicit and tacit

Othello s Identity, Morals, and Acceptance
Othello is perceived as one whom is lost in the novel. Caryl Phillps retells the Shakespeare s

identity and desire of home through interwoven stories. The novel discusses Othello s past and
present situation upon his arrival in Venice. The theme of acceptance is prominent throughout the
novel. Othello s character deteriorates as he struggles with his identity and the notion of home.
Othello is a general in the service of Venice. He is examined in the Shakespeare play as
courageous, noble qualities, trustworthy. It is obvious to feel a degree of sympathy for Othello
because he is considered an other . He is a man that is willing to accept that he is racially different,
as he seems to recognize his status. I tend to sympathize with Othello because he easily influenced,
insecure, and a benevolent heart for Desdemona. Othello relies heavily upon engaging with the

Difference Between Foundationalism And Coherentism
1. What is the traditional understanding of knowledge? Explain two theories of truth. What is
the difference between foundationalism and coherentism? What is knowledge? What does
knowledge mean and how does a person get to know something? And taking the step further
than that how does a person know that the something is true? What is the basis for knowledge?
There are two main forms of knowledge; a priori and empirical. A priori is knowledge that is
independent from a person s experience and can be proven to be true by simple logic or basic
definition of what is being stated. For example 2+2=4 is considered a priori type of knowledge
because it can be proven true by using the mechanics of mathematics. The other type of
knowledge is knowledge that can not be true without a personal experience to give justification
to why it is true, this knowledge is called empirical knowledge. Empirical knowledge is much
harder to prove to be true just by the nature of where the justification comes from. An example of
this is that the writing is in blue ink the statement can only be true if I had seen for myself that
the writing was done in blue ink because by definition writing does not have to be in blue ink. To
solve this problem, Plato would say that knowledge is a justified true belief and gives us specific
steps to work through this problem. This means the person making the claim must be able to justify
it in someway. The claim in itself must be true. And the person must believe

Abstract The article focuses on one of the most serious accusations brought against Descartes and

soul were viewed as completely separate; consequently, their relationship as such and the united

the soul from the body did not originate with Descartes; it was formulated much earlier, and

of substances : the human body and soul have been understood as being two completely separate

unmistakable symptom of metaphysical thought, which would possibly mean that the very
presence of metaphysics is indicative of a serious case of misapprehension or deviation1.
However, the very idea of Cartesian dualism may be viewed as a locus obscurus in the
philosophical thought. It is an obscure place not only because it has been inadequately examined or
debated. Rather because recent history has accepted it completely as the symbolic thesis of a whole
tradition of thought. Therefore, it is not surprising to find references

making students believe that buying and selling more often is the best way to approach the game.
When in reality the less trading players make the more likely they are to win. Players are only able
to invest less than 25% of their virtual money into one company. Therefore disabling syndicates to
invest all $50,000 into a sole company.
To test these theories, took the liberty to observe the game and playing of a specific syndicate
from Hillbrook Anglican School called Libash, it was composed of two Grade 11 students.
Over the 10 weeks from the 12th of March to the 20th of May, the All Ordinaries (XAO) was
down 3.47%. The syndicate chose to invest in six companies: Alumina Limited, Ardent Leisure
Group, Bluescope Steel Limited, Oz Minerals Limited, Sundance Energy Australia Limited and
Santos Limited. They aimed to buy into different sectors if possible, so if one sector was falling
they wouldn t run the risk of gaining bad investments. Their strategies and decision making
resulted in a profit of $869.03 at the end of the game. The syndicate finished with a portfolio value
of $50,869.03. Ranging within the top 36% of syndicates, of

Akhilleauss Pride Essay
Akhilleus s Pride
The Iliad is a classic story of a Greek warrior, named Akhilleus, whose anger causes many soldiers
to die during the Trojan War. When Akhilleus becomes angry, there seems to be nothing that can
stop him from totally destroying his enemy. While many consider anger to be the primary factor in
motivating Akhilleus, the main reason Akhilleus acts the way he does is because he is extremely
self centered.
Initially, Akhilleus lets his pride control him when King Agamemnon takes his prize possession,
Briseis, away from him. Akhilleus begins to sulk and declares he will take his army and go home.
Feeling dishonored, Akhilleus goes to his mother, Thetis, and requests her to go to Zeus and
petition his assistance in dealing with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the troops may savior what their king has won for them, and he may know his madness, what
he lost when he dishonored me, peerless among Akhaians (1, pp 25). The actions Akhilleus takes to
get back at Agamemnon shows Akhilleus is only thinking of his own self interest. His actions not
only hurt Agamemnon but also put the lives of many of his fellow soldiers in danger.
Akhilleus continues to let his ego control his actions even after his best friend Patroklos urges him
to forget his hurt and rejoin the fight against the advancing Trojan forces. After Akhilleus refuses
this request, Patroklos offers to put on Akhilleus armor to reenergize the Akhaian forces and
hopefully trick the Trojans into believing that Akhilleus has reentered the fight. Akhilleus agrees to
let Patroklos wear his armor and pretend to be him. Akhilleus proves he really is only thinking of
himself when he tells Patroklos before he goes to fight on his behalf, you ll win great honor for
me, and glory among Danaans; then they ll send me back my lovely girl, with bright new gifts as
well (xvi, pg 380).
After Patroklos is killed by the Trojan leader, Hektor, Akhilleus transfers his attention from
Agamemnon to Hector and returns to the battle to avenge his friend s death. Akhilleus tracks down
Hektor and mortally wounds him. As Hektor lies dying he pleads to Akhilleus to not let the dogs
feed on his dead body. Instead of honoring a dying man s request, Akhilleus arrogantly responds by

Kaloona s Perfect Plan to Save her Planet
A darkness. An absolute darkness accompanied with deathly silence. Just somewhere from a
distance is heard a baby crying. Kaloona immediately knew, why the darkness clouded her
planet. She went in tears to the balcony, looked up to the sky and quietly cried: I failed. I could
not protect Balathron the light of life. Now our planet will die and all people with it. Mummy,
please forgive me. Kaloona felt hopelessly, but she knew, she must do something very quickly to
save her planet and her nation. Suddenly was born a perfect plan in her mind. General Tarkhan,
can you come to my room, please? she said with determination in her voice into the
communication device. In a few minutes General knocked on her door. Yes, her Majesty. I and
all my soldiers are ready and waiting for your permission to find and eliminate enemies who
stole Balathron and bring it back to Sorascant. Kaloona looked at him and said: No, General, it is
my mission to protect people of Sorascant and not to send them to certain death. I will not allow
women lost their husbands and children their fathers. I will go and find them. Do not try to stop

Ufo Sighting At Jack s Ranch
YouTube video UFO discussion portrays new UFO sighting at Jack s Ranch as magnetic, robotic
humanoid jellyfish. Jack, the owner of Jack s Ranch said he was petrified as the new
extraterrestrial space being approached him rapidly. The sighting at Jack s Ranch is nothing new,
as UFOs seem to prefer conducting flybys near the ranch. Could this be alien contact, or is it just
another NASATop Secret experiment?
UFO Sightings Increase with YouTube
The latest YouTube video taken from Jack s Ranch can be found on the channel
thirdphaseofmoon. They have more than 300,000 subscribers with over 100,000 views of the
latest Jack s Ranch sighting. The UFO in the video has a striking resemblance to a man with a red
fluorescent helmet, but many think it is a space ship. The days of obscure extraterrestrial videos
shot on poor equipment have been replaced by a huge sum of UFO inspired short films on
YouTube. Some YouTube videos are slightly more convincing than others, and the legitimacy of
any sighting is always in question.

The Importance Of Communication As An Effective Communication
Directors it is important that it is done so in a formal manner. Any information that is given to them
must be based on factual evidence rather than just opinion. This means when making
recommendations, evidence needs to be given to support it, whether this be by including changes to
statutory, local authorities or governing bodies requirements for the running of the home. Evidence
may also be submitted in the form of a report formulated by myself, which would include different
research methodologies to support my findings. Communicationis largely face to face, or via email.
Sales Representatives
Contact with sales representatives always warrants formal communication. This is because they are
often precursors to a business contract occurring. It is therefore important that communication is
clear and there is full understanding by both parties.
1.2 EXPLAIN HOW TO SUPPORT EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WITHIN OWN JOB
ROLE.
Katz (1955) suggests that what he refers to as human skills determine how effectively we are able
to work with people. Communication is an essential factor in achieving this. Skills for Care (2006)
also identified communication as an important factor in effective leadership and management.
Due to the fact that I perform a number of job roles, mostly at management level (as identified
above), direction of communication is an important factor. When I am communicating with senior
support workers and staff, the direction of communication is downwards as these

Essay On The Alchemist
You can always turn a bad kisser into a good one, Laura Prepon. Santiago, the main character of
Paulo Coelho s The Alchemist leads a modest and ordinary life as a shepherd. Santiago travelled
constantly, exploring the Andalusian terrain. In his travels, Santiago met a woman who interpreted
his dreams, and told him his treasure would lie in Egypt at the pyramids. However, Santiago
believed that the dream interpreter was a phony, and he continued to herd his sheep. Soon after, he

attracted to his storefront. Santiago would receive a much needed meal, as well as a job offer.
Freshly cleaned crystal attracted many customers, which caused the crystal merchant to offer
Santiago a full time position, with pay. Like an alchemist, Santiago went from being in poverty,
to being successful. Santiago also turned a negative into a positive for the crystal merchant. The
crystal merchant s shop did not appear inviting to potential customers, but Santiago rectified it,
which in turn, caused the shop to receive more customers and generate a greater profit. Santiago
is a metaphorical alchemist. He turns the worst into the best, just as an alchemist turns base
metals into gold. Santiago made a reasonable sum of money working for the crystal merchant,
and decided it was time to abandon his job to continue his search for his treasure. Along the way,
he was halted by a tribal war in the desert and forced to stay in an oasis. During his visit he met a
young woman named Fatima. After only a few interactions, Santiago decides he wants to marry
this woman, I came to tell you just one thing, the boy said. I want you to be my wife. I love you

The Brooklyn Nets Offseason Case Study
The Brooklyn Nets Offseason: A Sensible Plan for the Future The Brooklyn Nets have made a
name for blockbuster deals over the last few summers. Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has not been
shy of spending money and laughing at the luxury tax if it meant making a contender. This summer,
the Nets have been singing a different tune; making moves to save money and diminish
expectations. Addition by Subtraction The biggest move the Nets made this offseason was letting
go of All Star point guard Deron Williams. The Williams experiment did not work and it was

more athletic, and with Williams gone, they were on the right path to doing that. The Nets used...

Plus, taking back both Haywood and Varejao s contracts would have kept the team near the
luxury tax line. If their gamble pays off and Johnson plays well, they can try again in moving
him by the trade deadline for a better price. The End Game The Nets aren t going to win a

Cruelty, By Stanley Milgram
Mohammad Asif Mohammad Prof: S.Bridges Essay 5 April 19, 2016 Cruelty The amount of
cruelty one possess varies individually depending on the situations an individual has experienced
throughout their life. This is why Milgram received such shocking results in his obedience
experiment and why only a few reacted in Darley and Latane s studies. Although cruelty is within
from birth, the test subjects in Milgram s, Darley and Latane s experiment had no intentions of
being cruel because they believed they were simply following orders and still fighting a personal
conflict which is to respond or not to a situation, while still conforming to the norms of social
etiquette. Cruelty is something that is innate. It is not something we learn but rather something that
is nurtured into existence. Individually, cruelty levels differ from one to another as each being
may have experienced different situations causing them to react differently. In the experiment
conducted by Stanley Milgram, a psychologist who wanted to test the level of cruelty a normal
citizen would go to when instructed by a person of authority. He brought in many different people
as the test subjects and as we see from the results how each persons obedience to inflict pain on
someone else differed amongst the subjects, we understand this is the results of their cruelty that is
within. This experiment was set up in a room where there was a teacher who was the test subject
and a learner who was an

Examples Of Dynamic Equivalency
For over 400 years now, the Authorized Version of the Bible or as commonly known as the King
James Version has been used by the church of Jesus Christ. Christianity, along with other religions
has a governing document or book in which it governs their walk of faith. For Christians, this book
is the Bibleor also known as the Word of God. Throughout the scriptures, it is clear that God
promises to preserve His words (Psalms 12:6 7). In addition, He commands to not add or take away
from his words (Deuteronomy 4:1 2), that God cares about every one of His words (Proverbs 30:5
6), in which the words will never pass away (Mark 13:31), and finally that God will curse those
who change His Word (Revelation 22:18 19).

Formal equivalency is a word for word translation where it is conservative which translates
words as accurate as possible from the first language. Dynamic equivalency is meaning for
meaning or phrase to phrase . This means that the translator is writing down the best paraphrase
he could make based on his own judgment. This is dangerous because you have to trust his
understanding of what the text is saying rather then you making the interpretation. This is
beneficial because it is easy to read and follow but has many doors open to skewed meanings.
Jennifer Beatson, in the journal titled, Christian Scholar s Review Issue 34.1 of fall 2004, She
reviews The Word of God in English: Criteria for Excellence in Bible Translation by Leland
Ryken. Ryken cites the trends leading to a large growing of English Bible translations, and the
need to evaluate their merits. One of his main criticisms is the dynamic equivalence used in
practically all modern translations. He claims that these works, (1) they lack literary excellence,
and (2) they do not faithfully translate the original biblical texts (Beatson 134). He holds that only
formal or word for word translations should be used because they hold true to the original text and
author. Beatson states that Ryken goes back into the history of the English Bible and demonstrates
how the KJV upholds the essentially literal translations of the Old and New Testaments. The
translators of the KJV gave Christians the literal Word of

  • 2. Let s Put Pornography Back In The Closet Analysis In the article Let s Put Pornography Back in the Closet, the writer tries to identify and define what pornography and obscenity is. According to the text, feminists believe that pornography is anything that aims to cause harm to the image of what it means to be a woman. It also includes any source that depicts the female body being harmed in any way to please the viewer s sexual fantasies. Brownmiller adds to the feminist definition by stating that when any person is being degraded or humiliated for the purpose of fulfilling sexual needs it should also be classified as pornographyand obscenity. Along with her definitions for pornography and obscenity, the writer also identifies the First Amendment and how it relates to her topic. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In today s society things that may be considered obscene and pornographic are much more easily attained by the average person. She believes that one of the reasons porn is so easily accessible to the public is because many people cannot differentiate between pornography, obscenity and modern art or literature; what is considered vulgar and distasteful by some, can also be thought of as beautiful and classy by others. Brownmiller explains that the women portrayed in magazines today are photoshopped to represent what a desirable woman is supposed to look like; this has led many women, including the writer, to feel ashamed and uncomfortable with their bodies. It is because of these reasons that the writer feels that there should be restrictions on what is allowed to be provided and distributed to the public. She also believes that the government needs to use today s societal norms, which apply to the everyday average person to figure out what should be allowed to be released to the public. The writer states at the end of her article that she doesn t believe the government should prohibit what she defines as vulgar and distasteful pornography and obscenity, but requests that it should be removed from every day public ... • 3. Coherentism and Foundationalism Foundationalism vs. Coherentism Throughout history, philosophers have been trying to come up with a clear way to provide the justification of our beliefs and knowledge. Noah Lemos offers readers explanations of both foundationalism and coherentism for theories of justification. These two different theories offer very different ways to explain the basis of our beliefs. For a foundationalist, they believe that all of our beliefs can be broken down until we reach a basic belief. This belief would be largely independent of other beliefs and not derived from other beliefs. A coherentist feels that a belief can be reasonably justified if it is coheres with our other beliefs. The foundationalist theory of justification boils everything... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A coherentist however, would justify that the pot is hot through other beliefs that cohere with this belief. Some of these coherent beliefs would be: the remaining coffee in the pot is hot, the coffee is freshly brewed which would mean it is hot, I can see steam coming from the coffee in my mug, the coffee I ve had every other day this week from the same pot have been hot and I can feel the warmth from the mug in my hand. All of these beliefs are not basic as a foundationalist would like, but they all cohere and provide reasonable justification for me to believe that the coffee in my mug is hot. It is my opinion that coherentists have a better argument for beliefs, and more specifically, this example. While I do think that there are many basic beliefs that are justified simply because they just are, I am not convinced that all the beliefs we have in this world can be broken down quite in this way. I do however, feel that many of our beliefs are based in a web of other believes that all support each other. I know that my coffee is hot for many reasons, one being that I can feel it. I don t think that I necessarily need to break it down into experiences when I have many other clues that could more easily justify my belief. There are so many clues and beliefs around me to justify my belief that it s not necessary to try and deduce anything. There are way too many complicated beliefs in the world that I do not feel they can all be traced back to basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Green Knight Chivalry Essay Hold the Door Open for Yourself (Analysis of Chivalry in Green Knight and Arthur) Being a feminist, though, does not mean that you have to be against men. , Abbie Hebron from Distinguished Young Woman says, this quote to show that is is not just the men who are to blame for the decline in chivalry. This quote represent the large debate on chivalry in today s societies. Some people want and some people don t, it is very hard to please the masses. Chivalry originated in the medieval ages, during a time of great stories. Like the most popular Arthur. This story showcases the original intentions for chivalry especially with the character Arthur. In the stories Arthur and Green Knight chivalry is present in many ways. The story of Arthur and excalibur is a great one, this story shows chivalry extremely well. On page 186 second paragraph, All these ladies for whom I have foughten for. This quote shows that men would fight for women. That is the epitome of chivalry in the olden days. To fight for someone, man or woman, is to care for and respect them. So when saying this quote he is saying i respect and care for those women. That is the basis of chivalry, to respect woman. • 5. Tati 3 Worlds Q1: What are the specificities of the three worlds displayed in the film? In the film, there were three worlds displayed all separate from each other but still holding the same image for something happening in France at the time. The new city showed signs of the advancing world the Tati had lived in during the 1950 s. In the 1950 s France was recovering from war efforts from WWII. The new world shows how France was rebuilding many structures and factories, and how these things were not in common of what the old world was. The old world on the other hand had tons of colors. Everything was colorful, very little gray was around, and it all just seemed more interesting to the viewer. This various range of colors had to do with the idea that Tati was hinting that even though the new world has tons of different and new technologies, there was not as much culture within it. The old world had lively colors, showing how different the two worlds really were. In fact, Tati might have been showing how to new world is not all it s cracked up to be as compared to the old world. • 6. Machine Stops The True Value of Time and how it Affects humanity Time is precious, the one thing no one can control. In the story, Machine Stops, written by E. M. Forster, life today has changed drastically from what was known yesterday and much of life lived in the past has been forgotten. A life lived today revolves around the Machine that takes care of simple tasks by the click of a button, for anything else would be a waste of time. The meaning of age, the importance of ideas, the emotions that follow have all been pushed aside, once everything s been taken care of by the Machine. Eisenhower Atoms for peace speech was delivered on December 8, 1953 (during the Cold War) to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, due to the end of World War II and the attacks of Hiroshima and Nagasaki the development of nuclear weapons were rapidly increasing and therefore, destroying the nation. I will analyze this historical speech according to the five cannons of rhetoric. Invention: Eisenhower s goal was to explain the necessity of using the way by which the miraculous inventiveness of man shall not be dedicated to his death, but consecrated to his life. Using nuclear technology for peace instead of destruction without intending to start a war but as a preventative measure and a symbol of strength. Dwight D. Eisenhower says But the dread secret and the fearful engines of atomic might are not ours alone applying pathos as his rhetorical strategy by using loaded language and evoking emotions from his audience giving them knowledge that not only our allies, but also our enemies, knew of the power of atomic ammunition. He uses hard evidence as well as logos to gain credibility from his audience, by reminding them and providing evidence that on July 19, 1945, the United States set off the world s first atomic explosion . This showed the importance of the accomplishment in American history. The speech took place in the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Arrangement: Atoms for Peace ... • 8. The Legalization Regulation Of The Sex Trade Essay This paper argues for the decriminalization plus regulation of the sex trade. This paper will defend the position that activities associated with adult prostitution (advertising, buying, soliciting, living off the avails and keeping a bawdy house) should be decriminalized/ legalized due to: a) the capacity for criminalization to infringe on sex worker s fundamental rights to life, liberty, and security and b) the capacity for criminalization to prohibit sex worker s from actively preventing harm to oneself. Philosophical support for this position will come from arguments rooted in human rights perspective, John Stuart Mills harm principle and arguments rooted in feminist theory. The harm principle contends it is only justifiable to interfere with the autonomy or liberty of adults in order to prevent harm (physical harm deprivation of rights and liberties) occurring to other persons . Whereas feminist theory consists of a view rooted in gender equality rights and social justice. This paper will discuss and respond to criticisms and objections rooted in legal moralism, and welfare paternalism that support the criminalization of prostitution. Furthermore, this paper will draw upon arguments from Prostitution Reference, and Supreme Court of Canada s Bedford Case; where judges and litigants interpreted criminalization of activities related prostitution within the context of (s.213) communication, (s. 210) keeping a bawdyhouse, and (s.212) living off the avails. ... • 10. Symbolism In Battle Royal, By Ralph Ellison I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I could answer (Ellison 527). Battle Royal , by Ralph Ellison, follows a story told by a man that the reader only knows as invisible . He believes that he is equal to everyone else until he is invited to Battle Royal to deliver a speech that was given the previous day for his graduation. At Battle Royal, he experiences multiple trials throughout the story. Everyone leaves he finally gets to tell his speech to the important people in the room. Symbolism is used by an author to give the story a deeper meaning. In Foster s book, How To Read Literature Like a Professor, he has a chapter called He s Blind For a Reason, You Know (209 214). In this chapter, Foster explains how blindness is used to show that the character is blind to what is going on around him. He also says, if you want your audience to know something important about your character (or the work at large), introduce it early (213). In Battle Royal the narrator is at one point blindfolded. The blindfold is a symbolof blindness. Ellison introduced this symbol very first, just as Foster said an author would do to get the reader s attention. Treatment Of Drug Use And Drug Abuse Essay According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (2012), the intention of drug addiction treatment is to help addicted individuals stop compulsive drug use and drug seeking behavior (p. 8). Substance use is a timeless practice of cultures around the world and can be found in religious ceremonies, celebratory engagements, and family gatherings. Substance abuse and addictionhas also been lurking in the shadows of history and has morphed into what some are calling an epidemic today. Treatment for addiction is a necessary service all over the world, but the methods and modalities of its practice have changed throughout history often being molded by federal policy. In the following pages I will discuss some of these changes to treatment in the 20th century in the United States. According to Henninger and Sung (2014), in the late 1940s the Minnesota Model was introduced as a new method to treat alcoholism. The Minnesota Model included mutual respect for participants instead of shame and degradation. One of the first facilities to utilize the Minnesota Model was Willmar State Hospital in Minnesota. The Willmar State Hospital staff eventually developed the model which was based on insisting that treatment include a multidisciplinary and holistic approach. The staff at Willmar also believed that professionalization of addiction treatment was necessary to appropriately treat patients. This progression of change to the Minnesota Model would mean that doctors, nurses, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, there are numerous debates as to which sweetener, honey, fructose, or high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is consequentially better for people. Many argue that each have different metabolic effects on individuals, while other experts claim all three have basically the same effects. While this topic is quite controversially and a fairly new concept, most experts and researchers tend to agree that reducing any type of sugarintake can decrease excessive body weight and the chance of suffering from diabetes, obesity, and an array of other health complications. The Institute of Medicine suggests no more than 25% of daily energy should be consumed as sugars. (Raatz, Johnson, and Picklo, 2015). However, the American Heart Association has different scales based on gender and calorie intake. There are other suggestions as well, which in turn leads to confusion for the average consumer. When on the topic of deviance, we are discussing the violation of social norms. • 28. Advantages Of Schema Theory Schema Theory states that humans organize information about the world into social and textual schemas. Schemata are models of concepts that serve as shortcuts to understanding or predicting our perceptions. They are cognitive structures that are affected by our culture and prior experiences. Schemata are culture specific and oversimplify reality, and can lead to stereotypes, prejudice, social roles and reconstructive memory. The schematheory was first developed by Jean Piaget in 1926. He argued that children learned through existing schemas and preconceived ideas of the world. These schemas are either assimilated or accommodated. Assimilation is when you add to your knowledge bank of existing schemas. Accommodation is when you change your... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the strengths of the schema theory is that it has been proven very helpful in the explanation of how cognitive operations function (e.g. reasoning, perception and reasoning). Schemata help interpret situations and comprehend social issues such as bias and the creation of stereotypes. It has also contributed to the understanding of reconstructive memory and memory distortion. This theory is testable and a wide range of studies provide evidence for it such as the Bartlett (1932) The War of Ghosts and Brewer and Treyens (1981) Experiment on memory of objects in a room. There is also biological research to support the idea that our brain processes information through categorization. The Caramazza (2009) study demonstrated that our brains automatically classify information about living and nonliving objects, in the same way that schema theory suggests. Schema Theory can also be applied to several fields of psychology such as abnormal psychology (Beck s Cognitive Theory of Depression), health psychology (health campaigns) and human relationships (violence and bullying). Schema theory is applied cross culturally although most of the research has been conducted in the West. One of the limitations of the schema theory is that it is still unclear how schemas are constructed and where they originate from, although many psychologists argue they stem from cultural frameworks (traditions, values, myths and customs). Also, it is difficult to explain how these mental representations influence mental processes, because it is impossible to observe how schema processing occurs in the brain. Another limitation is that schema theory mainly focuses on the errors in recalling memory when in reality people usually remember correctly. Overall, with the amount of strengths and limitations of schema theory, the strengths conclusively outweigh ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The process involved the mixing of the chemicals, along with the material. The resulting mixture is then added to the suction box and filled with more water. A vacuum is then pulled by opening a valve below the suction box, resulting in a mat of the material on the mesh bottom of the suction box. This project was a continuation of prior research conducted by Meghan Moore. She investigated how the efficiency of using activated carbon fiber compared to traditional filtering face piece respirators for nanoparticle aerosols. The particular activated carbon fibers used in this study were two nonwoven activated carbon fiber felts, with a surface area of 1,000m2/g and 1,500m2/g, and two woven activated carbon fibers ... The Relationship Shared Amongst Students and Teachers Essay Relationship Shared amongst Teachers and Students Nowadays, there is much controversy plaguing our society as to how the perfect relationship between teachers and their students should be. One pupil might be favored more than another in the classroom by the teacher, making this extra attention unfair to the other students. Almost always, there is a question pending as to what should the situation be inside a classroom. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most students especially those younger need to be attracted to a particular subject or topic, one that just grabs their attention, in order to pay attention and to learn from that subject. One such example is when I entered the 8th grade with a hate for mathematics, but after being taught by a very well educated professor, I managed to start liking algebra and becoming more and more intrigued as the course went on. When I used to be in elementary school, I would only find interest in those topics I thought were exciting and interesting such as science and drawing. Whenever a teacher would tell us to draw or sketch a picture, a smile immediately grew on my face and I lightened up with joy since I loved to draw. My love of art made me one of the most talented kids at school with that gift. I believe that a dedicated person must push his or her limitations to the maximum of their potentials to be educated and to succeed even though he or she may not like what theyre being taught, but that person must still push themselves to become interested in order to do well in that subject at the same time. Another example is how I am studying to go into the pharmacy field by taking classes I may dislike such as biology, physics, and calculus. • 33. Characteristics Of A Resilient Business Organization The word resilience comes from the latin world salire , which means to spring up and the word resilire which means to spring back as well as resilo which means the ability to rebound or jump back (Resnick, Lisa, and Gwyther, 2011; Dalziell and McManus, 2004; Pflanz and Lewis, 2012; Rochas, Kuznecova and Romagnoli, 2014). A theoretical model is presented identifying the pertinent features that characterize a resilient business organization. Drawing on the systems theory literature, a business is firstly characterized in terms of its technical, social and economic sub systems. Secondly, the kinds of disruptions business system might need to guard against are identified according to local, national and global spheres of influence. Thirdly, that resilient business system must attend to the goals of redundancy, requisite variety and resources. Finally, when these attributes (sub systems, spheres of influence goals) are connected certain business artifacts become evident as critical to enabling organizational resilience. Resilience is seen as an organizational capability, to anticipate key events from emerging trends, constantly adapt to change and rapidly bounce back from disaster (Marcos, 2008). Resilient organizations always strive to be prepared for the best, but also for the worst where organizational learning inward and outward is nurtured and encouraged. In Nature of Blood by revisiting Shakespeare s Othello, Phillips focuses on discrimination, identity and desire of home through interwoven stories. The novel discusses Othello s past and present situation upon his arrival in Venice. The theme of acceptance is prominent throughout the novel. Othello s character deteriorates as he struggles with his identity and the notion of home. Othello is a general in the service of Venice. He is examined in the Shakespeare play as courageous, noble qualities, trustworthy. It is obvious to feel a degree of sympathy for Othello because he is considered an other . He is a man that is willing to accept that he is racially different, as he seems to recognize his status. • 35. Difference Between Foundationalism And Coherentism 1. What is the traditional understanding of knowledge? Explain two theories of truth. What is the difference between foundationalism and coherentism? What is knowledge? What does knowledge mean and how does a person get to know something? And taking the step further than that how does a person know that the something is true? What is the basis for knowledge? There are two main forms of knowledge; a priori and empirical. A priori is knowledge that is independent from a person s experience and can be proven to be true by simple logic or basic definition of what is being stated. For example 2+2=4 is considered a priori type of knowledge because it can be proven true by using the mechanics of mathematics. The other type of knowledge is knowledge that can not be true without a personal experience to give justification to why it is true, this knowledge is called empirical knowledge. Empirical knowledge is much harder to prove to be true just by the nature of where the justification comes from. An example of this is that the writing is in blue ink the statement can only be true if I had seen for myself that the writing was done in blue ink because by definition writing does not have to be in blue ink. To solve this problem, Plato would say that knowledge is a justified true belief and gives us specific steps to work through this problem. This means the person making the claim must be able to justify it in someway. The claim in itself must be true. And the person must believe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The accusers claim that the human body and soul were viewed as completely separate; consequently, their relationship as such and the united being of man become incomprehensible. I will attempt to discuss below how a famous locus obscurus, the Cartesian dualism , emerged and has remained prominent to this day. It can only be properly understood, I believe, in connection with the emergence in the modern world of certain modes of intersubjective life, such as communication in the scholarly and academic environments. To this end, I will call attention to one the most serious accusations levelled at Descartes and the entire modern philosophy, i.e. the dualism 106 Ећtefan Afloroaei / Descartes and the metaphysical dualism of substances : the human body and soul have been understood as being two completely separate substances. Consequently, both the relationship between them and man s lived presence would have become totally incomprehensible. It was claimed that this dualism of substances was the unmistakable symptom of metaphysical thought, which would possibly mean that the very presence of metaphysics is indicative of a serious case of misapprehension or deviation1. However, the very idea of Cartesian dualism may be viewed as a locus obscurus in the philosophical thought. It is an obscure place not only because it has been inadequately examined or debated. Rather because recent history has accepted it completely as the symbolic thesis of a whole tradition of thought. Therefore, it is not surprising to find references ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Akhilleus becomes angry, there seems to be nothing that can stop him from totally destroying his enemy. While many consider anger to be the primary factor in motivating Akhilleus, the main reason Akhilleus acts the way he does is because he is extremely self centered. Initially, Akhilleus lets his pride control him when King Agamemnon takes his prize possession, Briseis, away from him. Akhilleus begins to sulk and declares he will take his army and go home. His actions not only hurt Agamemnon but also put the lives of many of his fellow soldiers in danger. Akhilleus continues to let his ego control his actions even after his best friend Patroklos urges him to forget his hurt and rejoin the fight against the advancing Trojan forces. After Akhilleus refuses this request, Patroklos offers to put on Akhilleus armor to reenergize the Akhaian forces and hopefully trick the Trojans into believing that Akhilleus has reentered the fight. Like an alchemist, Santiago went from being in poverty, to being successful. Santiago also turned a negative into a positive for the crystal merchant. The crystal merchant s shop did not appear inviting to potential customers, but Santiago rectified it, which in turn, caused the shop to receive more customers and generate a greater profit. Santiago is a metaphorical alchemist. He turns the worst into the best, just as an alchemist turns base metals into gold. Santiago made a reasonable sum of money working for the crystal merchant, and decided it was time to abandon his job to continue his search for his treasure. Along the way, he was halted by a tribal war in the desert and forced to stay in an oasis. During his visit he met a young woman named Fatima. After only a few interactions, Santiago decides he wants to marry this woman, I came to tell you just one thing, the boy said. I want you to be my wife. I love you (Coelho, 95). What once was negative became positive. Santiago s journey had been paused multiple times, and he was stuck in an oasis instead of venturing to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. The Brooklyn Nets Offseason Case Study The Brooklyn Nets Offseason: A Sensible Plan for the Future The Brooklyn Nets have made a name for blockbuster deals over the last few summers. Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has not been shy of spending money and laughing at the luxury tax if it meant making a contender. This summer, the Nets have been singing a different tune; making moves to save money and diminish expectations. Addition by Subtraction The biggest move the Nets made this offseason was letting go of All Star point guard Deron Williams. The Williams experiment did not work and it was rumored that he didn t get along with coaches and teammates. The Nets wanted to get younger and more athletic, and with Williams gone, they were on the right path to doing that. The Nets used... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were close to making a deal that would have sent Joe Johnson to the Cavaliers, but backed out because they didn t want to take on Anderson Varejao s contract. A smart move on the Nets part. They believe Johnson will play better this season with Williams no longer on the team. Plus, taking back both Haywood and Varejao s contracts would have kept the team near the luxury tax line. If their gamble pays off and Johnson plays well, they can try again in moving him by the trade deadline for a better price. The End Game The Nets aren t going to win a championship this year. I think I can safely say that. They should use this year to build chemistry with their brand new team and use this year to prepare for a bounce back year in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Cruelty, By Stanley Milgram Mohammad Asif Mohammad Prof: S.Bridges Essay 5 April 19, 2016 Cruelty The amount of cruelty one possess varies individually depending on the situations an individual has experienced throughout their life. This is why Milgram received such shocking results in his obedience experiment and why only a few reacted in Darley and Latane s studies. Although cruelty is within from birth, the test subjects in Milgram s, Darley and Latane s experiment had no intentions of being cruel because they believed they were simply following orders and still fighting a personal conflict which is to respond or not to a situation, while still conforming to the norms of social etiquette. Cruelty is something that is innate. It is not something we learn but rather something that is nurtured into existence. Individually, cruelty levels differ from one to another as each being may have experienced different situations causing them to react differently. In the experiment conducted by Stanley Milgram, a psychologist who wanted to test the level of cruelty a normal citizen would go to when instructed by a person of authority. He brought in many different people as the test subjects and as we see from the results how each persons obedience to inflict pain on someone else differed amongst the subjects, we understand this is the results of their cruelty that is within. This experiment was set up in a room where there was a teacher who was the test subject and a learner who was an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Examples Of Dynamic Equivalency For over 400 years now, the Authorized Version of the Bible or as commonly known as the King James Version has been used by the church of Jesus Christ. Christianity, along with other religions has a governing document or book in which it governs their walk of faith. For Christians, this book is the Bibleor also known as the Word of God. Throughout the scriptures, it is clear that God promises to preserve His words (Psalms 12:6 7). In addition, He commands to not add or take away from his words (Deuteronomy 4:1 2), that God cares about every one of His words (Proverbs 30:5 6), in which the words will never pass away (Mark 13:31), and finally that God will curse those who change His Word (Revelation 22:18 19). Formal equivalency is a word for word translation where it is conservative which translates words as accurate as possible from the first language. Dynamic equivalency is meaning for meaning or phrase to phrase . This means that the translator is writing down the best paraphrase he could make based on his own judgment. This is dangerous because you have to trust his understanding of what the text is saying rather then you making the interpretation. This is beneficial because it is easy to read and follow but has many doors open to skewed meanings. Jennifer Beatson, in the journal titled, Christian Scholar s Review Issue 34.1 of fall 2004, She reviews The Word of God in English: Criteria for Excellence in Bible Translation by Leland Ryken. Ryken cites the trends leading to a large growing of English Bible translations, and the need to evaluate their merits. One of his main criticisms is the dynamic equivalence used in practically all modern translations. He claims that these works, (1) they lack literary excellence, and (2) they do not faithfully translate the original biblical texts (Beatson 134). He holds that only formal or word for word translations should be used because they hold true to the original text and author. Beatson states that Ryken goes back into the history of the English Bible and demonstrates how the KJV upholds the essentially literal translations of the Old and New Testaments. The translators of the KJV gave Christians the literal Word of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
