Homeric Values In Electra By Euripides
Throughout the play Electra by Euripides there are many instances of the author using the character
Electra to attack homeric values. Homeric values are values expected of a hero. These values
include birth, social status, martial virtues, courage, physical strength, and skill in things such as
planning, organizing, and making war. Homeric culture was very important at one point. Many
times throughout this play, the character Electra says something she believes about another
character that goes along with/are invested with the homeric values. Euripidesthen has that
character do the very opposite to almost everything Electra claims. Electra is being used as a
symbol to criticize the customs and traditions of homeric values. Each time she is contradicted it is
an insult to the homeric values.
One example of this is found in the second episode of the play. The Old Man shows up at Electra s
house after passing by Agamemnon s grave. He tells her how he noticed a sacrifice on
Agamemnon s alter and tells her that he believes Orestes is there is disguise. This infuriates Electra
and she responds to him by saying:
What your saying makes you sound stupid, old man, if you think my brave brother has come to the
country in secret out of fear of Aegisthus. ( Euripides 26).
With this she is saying her brother is too brave to hide. This is a normal thing expected in a
homeric culture. Men/heroes are supposed to be brave and have the courage to fight. This is soon
contradicted when she

Exercise For Today s Youth
Daily exercise for today s youth will benefit them in the long term
I believe that physical fitness is very important regarding the overall health of adolescents.
Throughout the growing years of teens, our bodies are always changing and with these changes
which are both emotional well as physical, our bodies require more and more activity, allowing the
body to burn energy along with extra calories.
Although many people may feel that concerns relating to physical fitness in adolescents should be
the absolute responsibility of parents, I personally believe that our educational system can also
play a very important role in ensuring that teens are getting a reasonable amount of physical
activity within the course of the school day. As an adolescent, I personally enjoy being involved in
sports which is inclusive of physical activity. The teenage years are important in terms of both
mental and physical development, and staying fit during adolescence can have benefits that are both
physical and psychological. Good or poor fitness habits that a teenager develops during his or her
adolescence are likely to last a lifetime, and studies have shown that exercise can be beneficial to a
teen s overall health while also promoting a positive body image.

Africa By Mckay
Claude McKay s Africa is an English sonnet also known as a traditional literary poem. It starts with
an opening The sun sought thy dim bed and brought forth light . Referring to historical and
scientific debate on of the African origins of the nation. This can also be related to biblical
terminology, dim being Africas unlighted knowledge prior to God s intervention and it also can be
inferred that he is referring to the rich melanin of descendants from Africa.
The next line, The sciences were sucklings at thy breasts, plays on theory of Africa being the
Mother Land or The Mecca .This is where essentially civilization begins, just like a mother having a
child. The mother is a natural nurturer and essentially Mckay tied in the correlation in the second
line. Mother Africa, a nurturer, raises and encourages the sciences, actions that foreshadow another
brightening of the world to come in the Enlightenment. Lines three and four are also portraying a

The reputation is now condemned, however, it is possible for Africa to be saved, by taking a
deeper look at Mckay s simple word play. If the lines read Of all the mighty nations of the sun,
/ Thou art the harlot, now thy time is done, Africa would be made out to be a wayward woman
worthy of scorn because of her blatant disregard to moral restraints. Instead, the lines state, Thou
art the harlot, now thy time is done, Of all the mighty nations of the sun. The couplet suggests in
a twisted way that Africa was pimped by the new peoples as they admire Africa s beauty and
wanted the same by any means necessary. In a Mckay s very particular placement of words, Africa
does not simply lose its honor , glory, and power; like a thief in the night and within a blink of an
eye it was all

Analysis Of The Plague Of Doves
Pluto, North Dakota does not exist. It is not a current town in the United States, nor are there any
records of any area in North Dakota referring to itself as Pluto. By inventing this setting for the
2008 novel The Plague of Doves, author Louise Erdrich gives herself incredible freedom to
develop a limitless narrative. Readers familiar with the general reputation of North Dakotawill
recognize many of the expectations. Erdrich s town of Pluto is rural and conservative, with
persistently palpable tension between the predominantly Caucasian population and the victimized
minority of ethnically Native Americans. Much about the plot and perspective of this novelseems to
rely on its structure around many narrators. The Plague of Doves is told from multiple perspectives
and the timelines jump indiscriminately, sometimes with plots separated by decades seeming to
exist in tandem. While these literary elements are remarkable, informative, and provide the novel
with a significantly unique identity, the importance of setting cannot be overlooked. As focus
oscillates between narrators and time periods, it is the fictional town of Pluto that remains the
foundational factor. Without this shared setting, the novel could unravel into disparate themes. Yet
readers subconsciously recognize the importance of place. As the crimes and social injustices
repeatedly occur in a central location, the novel becomes less about the people and more about the
legacy they inherit. The characters

Impact Of Reflection On Student Learning

What I taught them prepared them for continued learning on animal classification and prepared
them to start plant classification because the familiarity of classification as a whole. In my lesson I
incorporated a phenomenon discussion to get the students to start thinking scientifically by
questioning. I used a PowerPoint in order to focus the students attention and to visualize the topic I
was discussing. The use of the instructional model impacted student learning through being an
important resource for the students. The students had a reference to see how to convey information
in written form or how to write expository writings. Having the model allowed the students to be
more comfortable with informational writing and to be able to focus on understanding the content.
The prewriting graphic organizer was used in order for the students to be able organize their ideas
and know what they are writing about before they begin their rough draft. This impacted student
learning by helping them produce a better and more thought out writing. My plan was for the
students to listen to the book being read and be able to get the majority of the information from my
reading, which was also projected on the board. This was not the reality and the students needed the
photocopied versions of the book to finish their prewriting. This turned out to better support the
learners by having that resource available and the students were then able to

What Is The History Of Ice Hockey
Hockey
Some people depict that ice hockey as having come from lacrosse and field games played by Nova
Scotia s Micmac Indians. Others believe that hockey evolved in northern Europe. But it is likely
that it came from early games played with stick and ball in about the mid 1800s. Ice hockey as we
know it was most defiantly a product of Canada in the 1850s ( History of Ice Hockey ).
The first organize and logged game of hockey was played in Victoria rink in MontrГ©al, Canada.
The first rules where written by a group of students at McGill University also in MontrГ©al. They
set it up to use a puck instead of a ball. It took a couple of years ice hockey spread all over Canada.
But before long it came to the United States. In 1893 hockey began to

Mandatory Military Draft
n some countries, citizens are required to serve in the military for a year or more. The United

Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress Essay
In Dai Sijie s Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, women are portrayed as China s cultural
feminine ideal of being demure and compliant. The novella takes place during China s Cultural
Revolution where two urban youths, Luo and the narrator find themselves sent to the countryside to
be re educated . The two protagonists encounter the Little Seamstress the epitome of beauty and fall
in love. They civilize the Little Seamstress through Western literature allowing her to realize a
womans true beauty. Although the Little Chinese Seamstress gets re educated , her re education
only teaches her the true meaning of beauty, convincing her to abandon her repressive village, and

Luo and the narrator s extreme ideals of women, constructed through Balzac s depiction of
women and China s cultural influences, deprives their judgement of the Little Seamstress s
capability of fostering her intellectual growth beyond their intentions. In the novel, the Little
Seamstress describes a scene she acted out with Luo from The Count of Monte Cristo : It was
totally a new experience for me. Before, I had no idea that you could take on a role of a
completely different person, actually become that person a rich lady, for example and still be
yourself. (Sijie, 156). This is a moment where the Little Seamstress realizes her potential to
transform her rustic life. She finally stuns her competence to Luo and the narrator when they
learn that she has gleaned a much different lesson from Balzac than they had intended: a woman
s beauty is a treasure beyond price (Sijie, 197). The Little Seamstress is profoundly influenced by
Balzac s literature and learns a valuable possession she has in her hands and decides to use it to her

A Analysis On Probabilistic Risk
. Risk AnalysisEquation Chapter 5 Section 1 Probabilistic risk analysis is becoming more and
more important in long term damage estimation for structure. In 2010, American Society of
Civil Engineering (ASCE) defines Risk Targeted Maximum Considered Earthquake ground
motion maps for the United States by explicitly targeting a probabilistic 1% risk of collapse in
50 years. Risk analysis is used to combine with earthquake caused death, downtime and repair
cost to estimate seismic performance of bridges and other structures. For instance, according to
[Bazzurro et al,2006], post main shock risk is used to make a decision of repairing a building by
calculating the probability that aftershock ground motion (demand) will exceed the structural
capacity. The goal of this chapter is introducing a method to compute the probabilistic seismic risk
for both main shock and aftershock. Then we can use this to assess risk of specific structure in
practice. The core of probabilistic seismic risk analysis includes two parts: couples (1) ground
motion hazard analysis for the site of interest; (2) the fragility analysis of the structure (located on
that site) with respect to potential ground motion intensities. These two parts have been introduced
in last few chapters, so the next step is to combine all information about demand and capacity of the
structure to compute the final risk results. 5.1. Main shock Risk When the damage state is the

Essay Assignment:: A Shark in the Mind of One Contemplating Wilderness by Terry Tempest
Williams
Terry Tempest William s written essay, A Shark in the Mind of One Contemplating Wilderness,
delivers to us, with intended purpose using shocking truths of greed and destruction. Actions took
under the cloak and disguise of the needs of civilization, creating more jobs, or even to boost the
rich man s governmental legacy of our badly raped and abused national economy. How continued
acts of greed and wanton disregard for the environment, are endangering nature the wilderness areas
we have sought to protect? Acts that leave behind damage and destruction where once nature and

We capture, contain, and control the very wildness of these animals, we so admire them for. We
decorate a large bucket of water, or a box of bars to resemble a shallow shadow of the wilderness
they should be in. These animals held captive in collective groups as a means to entertain us. We
are trading the wonder of nature, seen in it s own wilderness area for animal showmanship and
entertainment. Losing the remarkable sensations of hope and renewal we experience, as we stand
in a wilderness land, quietly observing animals and nature in the wildly beautiful and raw lands.
The absence of our own lack of realization that nature and the wild places we call the wilderness
are under attack. They are in danger of being beyond repair. It overwhelms the senses, and is not to
be tolerated.
That is the message William s words left echoing in my mind. Invisible seeds, deep in my
awakening imagination. William s words, written with her pen, that acts not as a pen, but more like
a sword striking out against environmental injustices. Clever words, delivered with careful and
planned precision. Crafted to alert, outrage and then inspire in each of us. To become
environmentally and socially responsible. She is more skillful than you realize at first. She

The Importance Of Intercultural Dialogue In Canada
Multi culturalism pervades Canada as a nation, a predominately immigrant driven and sustained
country that seems at times to indicate overtly and in part covert inferences from those who slip
through the cycle of immigration without the opportunity of engaging and by extension impacting
the conversation on intercultural dialogue in Canada. One can cite that majority of Canada s
population is comprised of diverse ethnic and cultural background of immigrants yet the term
visible minority has been harnessed to dichotomize its immigrant community, bit of oxymoron
possibly. Luzviminda, an extremely creative expression of dialogue between Canada and the
various ethnicities that seek to improve or enrich there lives and those of there love ones. Its
epitomizes another avenue of communicative osmosis of cultures that s enhances and penetrates the
social, political and cultural platform from which they initiate and exchange dialogue. I cannot
negate the that fact, while Canada frames the space for such migration to be possible for immigrant
population, it goes without say that the benefit is dual in nature. Canada s socio economic
paradigm is by virtue very much at a perpetual advantage as a result of its expeditious growth from
the immigrant community. Luzvinminda, stands as a representation of this intercultural dialogue.

Francisco Goya The Third Of May
Francisco Goya brings oils to life in this painting titled The Third of May, 1808 to life around the
year of 1814 on a canvas frame of 104.7 inches by 135.8 inches of canvas. Goya painted this piece
in remembrance of hundreds of Spanish freedom fighters that were killed by French after Napoleon

was the same size and depicts the rebellion that the Spaniards help lead (Zappella, Christine 2017).
In The Third of May, 1808, you can see the lines of the guns from the men on the right drawing

then works towards it immediately by gathering up a band of lawless resolutes (I.i.98), but is
hindered when he receives rebuke from Norway . However he is not deterred and in the end, old
Norway В… Gives him threescore thousand crowns in annual fee / And his commission to employ
those soldiers (II.ii.74), and finally, is successful in embrace fortune (V.ii.378). This contrasts with
Hamlet, who is easily distracted by his thoughts and emotions. His resolution to set it right
(I.v.189), referring to the murder of his father, gradually weakens following the loss of all his mirth
(II.ii.304), the death of Ophelia and his dialogue with Gertrude. Hamlet s tragic flaw is made even
more obvious by Fortinbras success. In the end, only when he is acting out of character, furious by
Laertes betrayal, Claudius underhandedness and Gertrude s death, is he finally able to succeed, at
the cost of his own life. Personally, the most striking example of the difference between Fortinbras
and Hamlet occurs when Fortinbras strides into the room at the end of the play to become the King
of Denmark, showing the failure of the man who thinks and the success of the man who acted

Representation Of Victorian Society In Joan Lindsay s...
Joan Lindsay, the renowned author of the seminal Australian novel Picnic at Hanging Rock, has
foreground the representation of Victorian society as repressed and constrained through the
characterisation of various figures throughout the novel. The riveting tale ensues the inexplicable
disappearance of three girls and a governess, with only one girl to ever be seen again, during
Appleyard College s annual picnic to the supernatural Hanging Rock on Valentine s Day in 1900.
One of the central themes in the narrative is the depiction of the Victorian Society as uptight and
controlled, which has been established by several characters, including Miss McCraw, Mrs
Appleyard and Mademoiselle. Miss McCraw, the eccentric mathematics tutor, is one of the least
likely to vanish. Nevertheless, this is precisely what occurs and through this aberrant disappearance
a notion is presented that excessive suppression results in radical methods of release. Moreover, the
portrayal of Mrs Appleyard develops the readers perception of Victorian society and displays how
rigid social constraints will eventually breakdown. In contrast, Mademoiselle, the passionate arts
governess, juxtaposes the previously mentioned characters by being caring and affectionate towards
the girls. The characterisation of these individuals throughout Picnic at Hanging Rock contributes
to the overall portrayal of Victorian society as uptight and stifled and progresses the reader s
understanding of this representation. Joan

Tourism and Indigenous People
BA (Hons) Tourism Marketing Year 3 1.0 AN INTRODUCTION According to the United Nations
definition of indigenous people, they are descendants of those who inhabited a country or a
geographical region at the time when people of different cultures or ethnic origins arrived (United
Nations, 2011a). It is estimated that there are about 370 million indigenous people around the globe
in over 70 different countries. They keep their own political, social, economic and cultural qualities
and also their unique traditions which separate them from other major societies in which they live

it is one of a few growth sections for the economy. However, tourism also brings its quandaries

Mrs. Wells Case Summary
The Case of Mrs. Wells This is a case about 73 year old women from Chicago, Illinois, named
Mrs. Wells. She was brought into the emergency room by her care taker and she was in
respiratory distress. While in the E.R. her respiratory functions deteriorated so a referral to the
ICU was made. E.R. doctor also found records on Mrs. Wells stating that she had advanced

Ethical beneficence refers to a normative statement of a moral obligation to act for the others
benefit, helping them to further their important and legitimate interests, often by preventing or
removing possible harm (Beauchamp). The principles of autonomy states that there is an
agreement to respect another s right to self determine a course of action (Butts, Richs) and
nonmaleficence is avoidance of harm or hurt and is the core of medical oath and nursing ethics
(Butts, Richs). These three principles can guide all the doctors and nurses to put into place the
care of Mrs. Wells. Before the doctors had a meeting to discuss the situation with Betsy, Matt,

resuscitate Mrs. Wells in the end the expected outcome is still going to be death. So because of
this they all agreed that the best care for Mrs. Wells would be to help Mrs. Wells have the most

Persuasive Essay On Bus Safety
The school bus safety in this time has gotten better and worse, but the one thing you don t see in
school buses too often are the seatbelts. I believe that seat belts are needed in buses.
The first patented seat belt was created by American Edward J. Claghorn on February 10, 1885
in order to keep tourists safe in taxis in New York City. This idea slowly became more popular in
the manufacturing of other vehicles. Competing drivers were the first to be required to wear a seat
belt. The real breakthrough with modern seat belts came in 1958 when Swedish engineer Nils
Bohlin was hired by Volvo and he designed the seat belts we know today through a three point seat
belt that better protects the driver and passenger in an accident. The three point design was created
to help secure both the upper and lower body in an accident.
Since 1966, vehicles in America were required to have seat belts in their cars. By 1975, most
first world countries had a seat belt requirement in their cars. Once the three point seat belt
became more common in cars, laws soon followed afterwards. By 1970, the world s first seat
belt law was created in Victoria, Australia, which required passengers to wear their seat belts at all
times. In the U.S., seat belt laws came around the time of the creation of The National Traffic and
Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966.
From 2006 to 2015, there were nationally 301 school aged children who died in school

I diasgree with the first passage because off leash dogs could possibly attack other dogs or people.

I disagree with the person from the first passage because if a dog is off its leash it could attack other
animals and people. For example, in the second passage it states that if a dog is off its leash and
attacks another dog or person the victim can rightfully sue bothe the dog s owner and the city.
So if a person or animal were to be attacked by a dog at a dog park it could end in a very big lawsuit
that could possibly lead to the park being shut down which would ve made all the effort and money

For example, in the second passage it is stated the just the fencing for a dog park alone cost $70,000

instead of building a dog park they could be building something useful like a library but instead
they have to waste time building a place for dogs to exercise. Finally, it s a massive waste of
resources. For example, people can just take their dogs on walks or runs but now the city has to
waste valuable resources just because a couple of dog owners don t think their dog is getting

The Sexuality Of Social Stigma
One young man from Michigan states that, My stepfather caught me watching the show once, and
treated me like I was mentally ill (thankfully, he s mentioned it to no one else)... I m still afraid of
social stigma for being public about my appreciation for the show. Bussey and Bandura would
suggest that this is a standard practice for fathers reacting more negatively to their son s gender
infractions. For many people, it is hard to see men occupy a feminized space and still see them as
masculine. After discovering the Brony fandom, many people have questions regarding the
sexuality of the fandom such as the following Yahoo Answers post from a concerned parent of a fan:
Well I just created my account, so I can ask this. Yesterday I came home from work early, and I
walked up to my 15 year old sons [sic] room. When I opened it, I saw him with headphones
watching My little pony . He didn t notice me, so I just acted like nothing happened. Could he be
gay, or just likes the show?
Update: Please explain what a brony is. Are they a gay group of men? Or sonthing [sic] else?
Learning that his adolescent son is watching a cartoon about ponies, this parent draws the
conclusion that his child is gay. His assumptions demonstrate how members of society regard
masculine space because enjoying ponies relegates young men into an effeminate position.
Thankfully, there are number of people who answer his question by explaining the fandom to him.

German Art Observation Paper

Abstraction in German Art, 1906 1925 which highlighted in abstraction in German Expressionism.
The exhibition was composed of over 60 works including works by Wassily Kandinsky, Franz
Marc, Lyonel Feininger, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Erich Heckel, Otto Dix, and an abstract
film by Hans Richter. Among the many works on view, one of the Paul Klee s prints titled
Hoffmannesque Scene caught my eye.
Hoffmannesque Scene is a lithograph printed in black and colored inks on a wove paper that was
created in 1921 in Germany. The title of the print tells you that it recounts a particular scene that
was inspired by something. This abstract print depicts the freeform shapes of objects including

The print is presented with antique brass, pastel brown, pale gold, wheat, and pale chestnut. These
undertones of colors that are softened or moderated create a feeling of gloom and calm at the same
time. In addition, Klee used the technique of color blocking by overlapping squares. There is no
particular color that dominates the entire image or completely catches a viewer s attention.
However, Klee emphasized on harmonization of colors by considering not only the combination
of the colors but also the composition and the scale of the blocks. Each block blends
harmoniously into one another so that it creates a sense of rhythmical or rhythmic changes, even
though those colors used are analogous. Therefore, the print reminds me of lyrical melody,
especially moody and gentle jazz music. While the background of the print presents a sense of
color, the artist detached color from physical description and the objects are drawn childlike.
Thus, the print looks like an illustrated page of a child s diary that depicts an image of his or her

The Berlin Conference Of 1885 Sought To Regulate European
The Berlin Conference of 1885 sought to regulate European colonization and trade in Africa and
was how the European powers avoided conflict between one another over African resources. This
meeting of European powers is referred to as the beginning of the scramble for Africa. No African
could have expected what was to come post 1855. The aggression and exploitation that followed,
described vividly in Heart of Darkness, has now adapted into more humane mechanisms due to
criticism against brutality in the nineteenth century. Today, the imperialism Africa

behind government sanctions, lies about cooperation and reciprocal benefits instead of mass

false cooperation. Today, China attempts to lawfully purloin African resources with an extremely
self promotional strategy. The country aims to maintain access to Africa s sought after natural
resources, regardless of the detrimental consequences for Africa. Some argue that the increase in
exporting that China creates will help Africa s economy develop, however these specific resources
can hurt the economy long term. This is seen in examples such as Nigeria and Angola, Sub Saharan
Africa s two largest oil exporters. Oil and mining are not labor intensive industries, therefore while
these natural deposits may create impressive growth figures, they do not translate into widespread
job creation. In fact, an economy solely based upon large oil and mineral reserves distorts the local
currency. The prices of other exports then increase and it makes them hard to sell overseas, a
phenomenon labeled the Dutch disease. Without careful management, something China has not

How to Cure Insomnia
Biology Issue Report
Subject: Why insomnia is an effective disorder and what solutions can be applied to cure it.
The problem
Biologists, Psychologists and Therapists have been trying to inaugurate a treatment for insomnia
which has a negative effect on sleep. Deep sleep aids a major biological restorative function as it
renews our physical energy. The issue is that insomniacs don t sleep enough and that means they
lack physical energy. (2)
Categories of Insomnia
Onset Insomnia (Transient Insomnia): finding it difficult to fall asleep.
Maintenance Insomnia (Acute Insomnia): waking up regularly during the night.
Termination Insomnia (Chronic Insomnia): waking up very early and cannot sleep again. (9)
Symptoms of Insomnia
Insomnia or otherwise called sleeplessness is a sleep disorder where the human organism fails to
fall asleep or to stay asleep. This causes the inefficiency of the human body to work properly.
Insomnia may lead into many problems such as depression and even the increase of risk of heart
disease. A person who suffers from chronic insomnia may suffer also from hallucination and double
vision. (5) Some of the obvious symptoms (see figure 1) seen when first having insomnia are
sleeplessness during the day, getting tired frequently, having difficulty with memory concentration
and petulance. (12)
Causes of Insomnia
People who show symptoms of insomnia are usually: older than 60, with mental health disorders,

Principle of male pattern baldness
Male pattern baldness is instigated by the interface of three factors: (1) genetic tendency
(heredity), (2) male hormones (testosterone), and (3) time or age. All three aspects must be
present. Ladies do not develop male pattern baldness since they do not have enough testosterone.
However, if a hereditarily inclined lady is given testosterone later on in life, the same gradation
of baldness that the individual would have had if he or she been a usual male develops speedily,
within a couple of months. Time or age is perceptibly a factor, since baldness upsurges with age in
normal males. The hereditary key is apparently enclosed within the hair follicle and has nothing to
do with the blood or nerve supply. Subsequently, the hair follicles on top of the scalp in a
hereditarily predisposed male are going to fall out regardless of where they are, as long as they
are on the same individual and have a satisfactory blood supply. The fact or principle is what
makes the hair transplant process possible.

General Demand Function Of Desktop Computers
The general demand function represents the relationship between the demand of a product or
service and the following six factors: the price of the product or service, the consumers income,
price of related goods or services, the taste patterns of consumers, expected price of the good in
some future period and number of the consumers in the market (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 40).
This general demand function can be applied to all products and services to forecast the quantity
that will be demanded based on the current market trends. The remainder of this paper will apply
this general demand function to desktop computers and how the various factors affect the product
demand.
The first factor to analyze is the price of desktop computers. Like all goods and services in the
market, the price and the quantity demanded are inversely related as described in the law of
demand. If the price of desktop computers rises, the demand will decrease. Similarly, if the price
of desktop computers falls, the demand will rise. Consumers often watch for prices to drop or
sales to occur before making big purchases to. Due to the inverse relationship between the demand
and the price of the computers, the slope parameter would have a negative sign. This negative sign
denotes that as one piece of the equation changes, the other will move in the opposite direction.
The second factor of the general demand function is the consumers income. Desktop computers are
considered a normal good, or

The Three Assumptions Of Confessionalism
Many protestants, not brought up in liturgical church settings, find themselves taken aback and
confused when first reading the Nicene Creed. This is true especially pertaining to what the creed
says about the church. Unfortunately, in many Baptist, Pentecostal, and non denominational
Churches, the Nicene Creed is unfamiliar or unknown to the majority of Church members. A
common argument against the use of creeds is why use a creed when we ve got the bible? While
this may seem to be rooted in a very high view of scripture, Carl R. Trueman suggests that it is
possibly an unwitting capitulation to the spirit of the age. In short, Trueman argues that the three
assumptions of confessionalism, the past being important and of positive relevance today, language
as being a stable transmission of truth throughout time, and the need for a body or institution
capable of composing and enforcing creeds, are all countercultural in today s world. Trueman s
third assumption can sound like nails on a chalkboard for many Christians. A seemingly ironic
distrust of religious organizations exists heavily within Christianity. This skepticism about the
church is why one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church can be a difficult thing to say, let alone
believe. However, it is a misunderstanding of the church that leads to distrusting the creed s validity
when it comes to the Bride of Christ. This paper sets out to affirm that there truly is one, holy,
catholic an apostolic church. Even in

  • 2. Homeric Values In Electra By Euripides Throughout the play Electra by Euripides there are many instances of the author using the character Electra to attack homeric values. Homeric values are values expected of a hero. These values include birth, social status, martial virtues, courage, physical strength, and skill in things such as planning, organizing, and making war. Homeric culture was very important at one point. Many times throughout this play, the character Electra says something she believes about another character that goes along with/are invested with the homeric values. Euripidesthen has that character do the very opposite to almost everything Electra claims. Electra is being used as a symbol to criticize the customs and traditions of homeric values. Each time she is contradicted it is an insult to the homeric values. One example of this is found in the second episode of the play. The Old Man shows up at Electra s house after passing by Agamemnon s grave. He tells her how he noticed a sacrifice on Agamemnon s alter and tells her that he believes Orestes is there is disguise. This infuriates Electra and she responds to him by saying: What your saying makes you sound stupid, old man, if you think my brave brother has come to the country in secret out of fear of Aegisthus. ( Euripides 26). With this she is saying her brother is too brave to hide. This is a normal thing expected in a homeric culture. Men/heroes are supposed to be brave and have the courage to fight. This is soon contradicted when she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Exercise For Today s Youth Daily exercise for today s youth will benefit them in the long term I believe that physical fitness is very important regarding the overall health of adolescents. Throughout the growing years of teens, our bodies are always changing and with these changes which are both emotional well as physical, our bodies require more and more activity, allowing the body to burn energy along with extra calories. Although many people may feel that concerns relating to physical fitness in adolescents should be the absolute responsibility of parents, I personally believe that our educational system can also play a very important role in ensuring that teens are getting a reasonable amount of physical activity within the course of the school day. As an adolescent, I personally enjoy being involved in sports which is inclusive of physical activity. The teenage years are important in terms of both mental and physical development, and staying fit during adolescence can have benefits that are both physical and psychological. Good or poor fitness habits that a teenager develops during his or her adolescence are likely to last a lifetime, and studies have shown that exercise can be beneficial to a teen s overall health while also promoting a positive body image. The above graph represents a percentage of children. It breaks down the children into three age groups and starts with kindergarten. It also focuses on 6th graders and 9th graders. • 5. Africa By Mckay Claude McKay s Africa is an English sonnet also known as a traditional literary poem. It starts with an opening The sun sought thy dim bed and brought forth light . Referring to historical and scientific debate on of the African origins of the nation. This can also be related to biblical terminology, dim being Africas unlighted knowledge prior to God s intervention and it also can be inferred that he is referring to the rich melanin of descendants from Africa. The next line, The sciences were sucklings at thy breasts, plays on theory of Africa being the Mother Land or The Mecca .This is where essentially civilization begins, just like a mother having a child. The mother is a natural nurturer and essentially Mckay tied in the correlation in the second line. Mother Africa, a nurturer, raises and encourages the sciences, actions that foreshadow another brightening of the world to come in the Enlightenment. Lines three and four are also portraying a motherly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reputation is now condemned, however, it is possible for Africa to be saved, by taking a deeper look at Mckay s simple word play. If the lines read Of all the mighty nations of the sun, / Thou art the harlot, now thy time is done, Africa would be made out to be a wayward woman worthy of scorn because of her blatant disregard to moral restraints. Instead, the lines state, Thou art the harlot, now thy time is done, Of all the mighty nations of the sun. The couplet suggests in a twisted way that Africa was pimped by the new peoples as they admire Africa s beauty and wanted the same by any means necessary. In a Mckay s very particular placement of words, Africa does not simply lose its honor , glory, and power; like a thief in the night and within a blink of an eye it was all ... • 6. Analysis Of The Plague Of Doves Pluto, North Dakota does not exist. It is not a current town in the United States, nor are there any records of any area in North Dakota referring to itself as Pluto. By inventing this setting for the 2008 novel The Plague of Doves, author Louise Erdrich gives herself incredible freedom to develop a limitless narrative. Readers familiar with the general reputation of North Dakotawill recognize many of the expectations. Erdrich s town of Pluto is rural and conservative, with persistently palpable tension between the predominantly Caucasian population and the victimized minority of ethnically Native Americans. Much about the plot and perspective of this novelseems to rely on its structure around many narrators. The Plague of Doves is told from multiple perspectives and the timelines jump indiscriminately, sometimes with plots separated by decades seeming to exist in tandem. While these literary elements are remarkable, informative, and provide the novel with a significantly unique identity, the importance of setting cannot be overlooked. As focus oscillates between narrators and time periods, it is the fictional town of Pluto that remains the foundational factor. Without this shared setting, the novel could unravel into disparate themes. Yet readers subconsciously recognize the importance of place. As the crimes and social injustices repeatedly occur in a central location, the novel becomes less about the people and more about the legacy they inherit. The characters ... • 7. Impact Of Reflection On Student Learning a.How did your lesson impact student learning? What I taught them prepared them for continued learning on animal classification and prepared them to start plant classification because the familiarity of classification as a whole. In my lesson I incorporated a phenomenon discussion to get the students to start thinking scientifically by questioning. I used a PowerPoint in order to focus the students attention and to visualize the topic I was discussing. The use of the instructional model impacted student learning through being an important resource for the students. The students had a reference to see how to convey information in written form or how to write expository writings. Having the model allowed the students to be more comfortable with informational writing and to be able to focus on understanding the content. The prewriting graphic organizer was used in order for the students to be able organize their ideas and know what they are writing about before they begin their rough draft. This impacted student learning by helping them produce a better and more thought out writing. My plan was for the students to listen to the book being read and be able to get the majority of the information from my reading, which was also projected on the board. This was not the reality and the students needed the photocopied versions of the book to finish their prewriting. This turned out to better support the learners by having that resource available and the students were then able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Others believe that hockey evolved in northern Europe. But it is likely that it came from early games played with stick and ball in about the mid 1800s. Ice hockey as we know it was most defiantly a product of Canada in the 1850s ( History of Ice Hockey ). The first organize and logged game of hockey was played in Victoria rink in MontrГ©al, Canada. When I think about it, it reminds me when I will be doing something hard like playing a level in a game or a shot that is difficult, to keep doing it over and over again until I can finally master it. Also, I think this is an important quote from Bo Jackson to say because he probably had to set his goals high. He played two professional sports, football and baseball. He probably had to try really hard when he was a good football player in the NFL and wanted to be a player in the MLB. • 12. Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress Essay In Dai Sijie s Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, women are portrayed as China s cultural feminine ideal of being demure and compliant. The novella takes place during China s Cultural Revolution where two urban youths, Luo and the narrator find themselves sent to the countryside to be re educated . The two protagonists encounter the Little Seamstress the epitome of beauty and fall in love. They civilize the Little Seamstress through Western literature allowing her to realize a womans true beauty. Although the Little Chinese Seamstress gets re educated , her re education only teaches her the true meaning of beauty, convincing her to abandon her repressive village, and declare her feminine identity by leaving the city. Luo and the narrator s extreme ideals of women, constructed through Balzac s depiction of women and China s cultural influences, deprives their judgement of the Little Seamstress s capability of fostering her intellectual growth beyond their intentions. In the novel, the Little Seamstress describes a scene she acted out with Luo from The Count of Monte Cristo : It was totally a new experience for me. Before, I had no idea that you could take on a role of a completely different person, actually become that person a rich lady, for example and still be yourself. (Sijie, 156). This is a moment where the Little Seamstress realizes her potential to transform her rustic life. She finally stuns her competence to Luo and the narrator when they learn that she has gleaned a much different lesson from Balzac than they had intended: a woman s beauty is a treasure beyond price (Sijie, 197). • 13. A Analysis On Probabilistic Risk . Risk AnalysisEquation Chapter 5 Section 1 Probabilistic risk analysis is becoming more and more important in long term damage estimation for structure. In 2010, American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) defines Risk Targeted Maximum Considered Earthquake ground motion maps for the United States by explicitly targeting a probabilistic 1% risk of collapse in 50 years. Risk analysis is used to combine with earthquake caused death, downtime and repair cost to estimate seismic performance of bridges and other structures. For instance, according to [Bazzurro et al,2006], post main shock risk is used to make a decision of repairing a building by calculating the probability that aftershock ground motion (demand) will exceed the structural capacity. The goal of this chapter is introducing a method to compute the probabilistic seismic risk for both main shock and aftershock. Then we can use this to assess risk of specific structure in practice. The core of probabilistic seismic risk analysis includes two parts: couples (1) ground motion hazard analysis for the site of interest; (2) the fragility analysis of the structure (located on that site) with respect to potential ground motion intensities. These two parts have been introduced in last few chapters, so the next step is to combine all information about demand and capacity of the structure to compute the final risk results. 5.1. Actions took under the cloak and disguise of the needs of civilization, creating more jobs, or even to boost the rich man s governmental legacy of our badly raped and abused national economy. We capture, contain, and control the very wildness of these animals, we so admire them for. We decorate a large bucket of water, or a box of bars to resemble a shallow shadow of the wilderness they should be in. These animals held captive in collective groups as a means to entertain us. We are trading the wonder of nature, seen in it s own wilderness area for animal showmanship and entertainment. Losing the remarkable sensations of hope and renewal we experience, as we stand in a wilderness land, quietly observing animals and nature in the wildly beautiful and raw lands. The absence of our own lack of realization that nature and the wild places we call the wilderness are under attack. They are in danger of being beyond repair. It overwhelms the senses, and is not to be tolerated. That is the message William s words left echoing in my mind. Invisible seeds, deep in my awakening imagination. The Importance Of Intercultural Dialogue In Canada Multi culturalism pervades Canada as a nation, a predominately immigrant driven and sustained country that seems at times to indicate overtly and in part covert inferences from those who slip through the cycle of immigration without the opportunity of engaging and by extension impacting the conversation on intercultural dialogue in Canada. One can cite that majority of Canada s population is comprised of diverse ethnic and cultural background of immigrants yet the term visible minority has been harnessed to dichotomize its immigrant community, bit of oxymoron possibly. Luzviminda, an extremely creative expression of dialogue between Canada and the various ethnicities that seek to improve or enrich there lives and those of there love ones. Its epitomizes another avenue of communicative osmosis of cultures that s enhances and penetrates the social, political and cultural platform from which they initiate and exchange dialogue. I cannot negate the that fact, while Canada frames the space for such migration to be possible for immigrant population, it goes without say that the benefit is dual in nature. Canada s socio economic paradigm is by virtue very much at a perpetual advantage as a result of its expeditious growth from the immigrant community. • 24. Representation Of Victorian Society In Joan Lindsay s... Joan Lindsay, the renowned author of the seminal Australian novel Picnic at Hanging Rock, has foreground the representation of Victorian society as repressed and constrained through the characterisation of various figures throughout the novel. The riveting tale ensues the inexplicable disappearance of three girls and a governess, with only one girl to ever be seen again, during Appleyard College s annual picnic to the supernatural Hanging Rock on Valentine s Day in 1900. One of the central themes in the narrative is the depiction of the Victorian Society as uptight and controlled, which has been established by several characters, including Miss McCraw, Mrs Appleyard and Mademoiselle. Miss McCraw, the eccentric mathematics tutor, is one of the least likely to vanish. Nevertheless, this is precisely what occurs and through this aberrant disappearance a notion is presented that excessive suppression results in radical methods of release. Moreover, the portrayal of Mrs Appleyard develops the readers perception of Victorian society and displays how rigid social constraints will eventually breakdown. In contrast, Mademoiselle, the passionate arts governess, juxtaposes the previously mentioned characters by being caring and affectionate towards the girls. The characterisation of these individuals throughout Picnic at Hanging Rock contributes to the overall portrayal of Victorian society as uptight and stifled and progresses the reader s understanding of this representation. • 27. Persuasive Essay On Bus Safety The school bus safety in this time has gotten better and worse, but the one thing you don t see in school buses too often are the seatbelts. I believe that seat belts are needed in buses. The first patented seat belt was created by American Edward J. Claghorn on February 10, 1885 in order to keep tourists safe in taxis in New York City. This idea slowly became more popular in the manufacturing of other vehicles. Competing drivers were the first to be required to wear a seat belt. The real breakthrough with modern seat belts came in 1958 when Swedish engineer Nils Bohlin was hired by Volvo and he designed the seat belts we know today through a three point seat belt that better protects the driver and passenger in an accident. The three point design was created to help secure both the upper and lower body in an accident. Since 1966, vehicles in America were required to have seat belts in their cars. By 1975, most first world countries had a seat belt requirement in their cars. Once the three point seat belt became more common in cars, laws soon followed afterwards. By 1970, the world s first seat belt law was created in Victoria, Australia, which required passengers to wear their seat belts at all times. In the U.S., seat belt laws came around the time of the creation of The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966. Hoffmannesque Scene is a lithograph printed in black and colored inks on a wove paper that was created in 1921 in Germany. The title of the print tells you that it recounts a particular scene that was inspired by something. This abstract print depicts the freeform shapes of objects including human and animal with shaded blocks. The depiction of the scene resembles cave and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The print is presented with antique brass, pastel brown, pale gold, wheat, and pale chestnut. These undertones of colors that are softened or moderated create a feeling of gloom and calm at the same time. In addition, Klee used the technique of color blocking by overlapping squares. There is no particular color that dominates the entire image or completely catches a viewer s attention. However, Klee emphasized on harmonization of colors by considering not only the combination of the colors but also the composition and the scale of the blocks. Each block blends harmoniously into one another so that it creates a sense of rhythmical or rhythmic changes, even though those colors used are analogous. Therefore, the print reminds me of lyrical melody, especially moody and gentle jazz music. While the background of the print presents a sense of color, the artist detached color from physical description and the objects are drawn childlike. Thus, the print looks like an illustrated page of a child s diary that depicts an image of his or her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Berlin Conference Of 1885 Sought To Regulate European The Berlin Conference of 1885 sought to regulate European colonization and trade in Africa and was how the European powers avoided conflict between one another over African resources. This meeting of European powers is referred to as the beginning of the scramble for Africa. No African could have expected what was to come post 1855. The aggression and exploitation that followed, described vividly in Heart of Darkness, has now adapted into more humane mechanisms due to criticism against brutality in the nineteenth century. Today, the imperialism Africa faces is hidden behind government sanctions, lies about cooperation and reciprocal benefits instead of mass killings. Although the degree of exploitation is similar, the manner in which China... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The actions of Kurtz and other Europeans are extremely similar to actions taken today in regard to their untamed greed. Like the Europeans, India and China have no consideration for the people already inhabiting the area and are establishing complete dominance over Africa. However, in current times, there is less blatant aggression and much of the invasive actions are hidden behind false cooperation. Today, China attempts to lawfully purloin African resources with an extremely self promotional strategy. The country aims to maintain access to Africa s sought after natural resources, regardless of the detrimental consequences for Africa. Some argue that the increase in exporting that China creates will help Africa s economy develop, however these specific resources can hurt the economy long term. This is seen in examples such as Nigeria and Angola, Sub Saharan Africa s two largest oil exporters. Oil and mining are not labor intensive industries, therefore while these natural deposits may create impressive growth figures, they do not translate into widespread job creation. In fact, an economy solely based upon large oil and mineral reserves distorts the local currency. The prices of other exports then increase and it makes them hard to sell overseas, a phenomenon labeled the Dutch disease. Without careful management, something China has not provided, the oil and mineral revenue will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has become such a big problem around the world that people don t fight against it; they just learn how to live with it. Personally, I didn t care much about corruptionbecause I felt I couldn t do anything to fight against it. But in 2015 my views about corruption changed, I now believe that the only ones able to fight against corruption are the citizens. My home, Guatemala got into a corruption scandal and it s currently fighting to win this fight. Persuasive Essay On Hair Loss Many individuals who are combating hair loss wonder if a hair transplant surgery is the answer to their problems and many are even terrified of the word surgery . Maximum folks have seen others with transplant surgery that look superficial and like a doll s stabbing out for the world to see. To come out of that fear, we have the basic information regarding everything you need to know about hairtransplantation. Principle of male pattern baldness Male pattern baldness is instigated by the interface of three factors: (1) genetic tendency (heredity), (2) male hormones (testosterone), and (3) time or age. All three aspects must be present. Ladies do not develop male pattern baldness since they do not have enough testosterone. However, if a hereditarily inclined lady is given testosterone later on in life, the same gradation of baldness that the individual would have had if he or she been a usual male develops speedily, within a couple of months. Time or age is perceptibly a factor, since baldness upsurges with age in normal males. The hereditary key is apparently enclosed within the hair follicle and has nothing to do with the blood or nerve supply. Subsequently, the hair follicles on top of the scalp in a hereditarily predisposed male are going to fall out regardless of where they are, as long as they are on the same individual and have a satisfactory blood supply. The fact or principle is what makes the hair transplant process possible. Hair transplantation Hair ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My conclusion is that yes, Yates is sick, but I feel a strong possibility of her understanding the wrongness of her actions to the rest of society but in her opinion acted in the greater good based on religiously psychotic feeling of heaven and hell which was a foundation of making a decision to take her children s lives while understanding it was wrong and should have been dealt with by a swifter and stronger hand of justice. My opinion aside this is the conclusion and information brought forth by unbiased research as to the case and analysis of Yates. Only one of a twelve mental health experts who testified concluded that the Yates was legally sane when she drowned her five children in the family bathtub. The witness, called by prosecutors, was Park Dietz, a forensic psychiatrist and the prosecutors only mental health expert, Dietz and his testimony helped convict Yates. The conviction later was overturned. When Yates is retried, much of the attention again was on Dietz, who is back on the prosecution s witness list. • 41. General Demand Function Of Desktop Computers The general demand function represents the relationship between the demand of a product or service and the following six factors: the price of the product or service, the consumers income, price of related goods or services, the taste patterns of consumers, expected price of the good in some future period and number of the consumers in the market (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 40). This general demand function can be applied to all products and services to forecast the quantity that will be demanded based on the current market trends. The remainder of this paper will apply this general demand function to desktop computers and how the various factors affect the product demand. The first factor to analyze is the price of desktop computers. Like all goods and services in the market, the price and the quantity demanded are inversely related as described in the law of demand. If the price of desktop computers rises, the demand will decrease. Similarly, if the price of desktop computers falls, the demand will rise. Consumers often watch for prices to drop or sales to occur before making big purchases to. Due to the inverse relationship between the demand and the price of the computers, the slope parameter would have a negative sign. This negative sign denotes that as one piece of the equation changes, the other will move in the opposite direction. The second factor of the general demand function is the consumers income. Desktop computers are considered a normal good, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Three Assumptions Of Confessionalism Many protestants, not brought up in liturgical church settings, find themselves taken aback and confused when first reading the Nicene Creed. This is true especially pertaining to what the creed says about the church. Unfortunately, in many Baptist, Pentecostal, and non denominational Churches, the Nicene Creed is unfamiliar or unknown to the majority of Church members. A common argument against the use of creeds is why use a creed when we ve got the bible? While this may seem to be rooted in a very high view of scripture, Carl R. Trueman suggests that it is possibly an unwitting capitulation to the spirit of the age. In short, Trueman argues that the three assumptions of confessionalism, the past being important and of positive relevance today, language as being a stable transmission of truth throughout time, and the need for a body or institution capable of composing and enforcing creeds, are all countercultural in today s world. Trueman s third assumption can sound like nails on a chalkboard for many Christians. A seemingly ironic distrust of religious organizations exists heavily within Christianity. This skepticism about the church is why one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church can be a difficult thing to say, let alone believe. However, it is a misunderstanding of the church that leads to distrusting the creed s validity when it comes to the Bride of Christ.
