Are People Naturally Good Or Evil Research
A straightforward question. Are humans naturally good or evil? A simple question that has many of
different answers and a question that may require deep thinking. For me, both sides I was drawn to.
My household is christian, so I thought of the religious answer, but I also thought that people are born
good and their environment and decisions can cause them to be evil. This is what I came up with.
When I thought of this question the first thing that popped up in my head is babies , so I did a little
research. Babies are humans with the absolute minimum of cultural influence (bbc.com). They don t
have a lot of friends, and they don t go to school or read any books. Their minds are as innocent as any

Some People Like Poetry
Europe Paper Elton Pope states, When you re a kid, they tell you it s all... Grow up, get a job, get
married, get a house, have a kid, and that s it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that.
It s so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better . Throughout one s personal timeline,
events in which occur in what seems like random happenstance are actually what help to shape one
into the person they are destined to be. Times like these are often known as stepping stones , and take
place in each individual s lives. The cycle of life withholds three major events in which are touched
upon in European literature. Appreciation of life, overcoming milestones, and facing death, are all
well experienced events spread across ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finding yourself and one s individuality is apart of each person s journey throughout life. In the poem
Some People Like Poetry , the narrator gives an obvious statement of being who you are. [B]ut then,
you can like chicken noodle soup, or compliments, or the color blue, your old scarf, your own way,
petting the dog (489). Despite the like and dislikes, sense of who you are is a large portion of every
person s life. Being smacked abruptly by reality is unfortunate, yet a very relatable experience taken
on by all people. The narrator from Ars Poetica! shows the struggle with finding that the world is not
exactly what was expected of it. And yet the world is different from what it seems to be and we are
other than how we see ourselves (493). With overcoming and accepting disappointments in life, we as
people develop into more rational beings. Author Szymborska, expresses the realization of human
alikeness through her quote, [M]ortal a hundred out of a hundred. Thus far this figure still remains
unchanged (491). Much growth to better ourselves is allowed after having experiencing finding your
individuality, and acceptance of others and the world. Though a positive outcome may come from
dealing with these milestones, facing death has much more of a skeptical impact on a

Analysis Of Both Flesh And Not By David Foster Wallace
Both Flesh And Not, written by David Foster Wallace is an essay written as a childhood fairytale in a
metaphorical way to introduce and illustrate Wallace s ideas. A gallant knight risks his life fighting the
dragon, who is protecting the castle, to get what he wants, which is the fair maiden also known as a
good looking virgin . Is that what the essay is really about? No, Wallace specifically uses this to
comment on and represent the AIDS crisis, the way he observed it. The gallant knight, referring to
men, desires sex and is willing to risk their life and take the chance of contracting AIDS. Although,
Wallace does specify men towards the beginning of the essay, towards the end, he broadens his idea
from just men, to include everyone with sexual desire and sexuality as part of human nature. Wallace s
intentions in the piece is used by engaging the audience to bring awareness to society about the sexual
choices people made and its consequences, the views of AIDS in a positive perspective, and to show
that sex is natural in human life.
Primarily, Wallace brings awareness to society about the sexual choices people made and their
consequences. In some cases, those consequences included HIV and AIDS. The thought of a person
contracting HIV or AIDS, appeals to a person s emotions and value, due to the fact it affects a person
long term, is also an example of pathos. Wallace utterance, ....regard HIV as a sort of test of our
generation s sexual mettle; these guys now

Sprint focuses on services by looking at ways to bring the customers in and retaining them. The
biggest seller for Sprint currently is the unlimited data plan. Sprint is the only network that has this
program. With their competitor, AT T, customers tend to go over their plan usage, which causes more
fees and the uncertainty of interrupted services. Sprint had to research and become creative in order to
stay a step ahead of its competitors and provide innovative ideas. Sprint Nextel served more than 55
million customers at the end of 2011 and is widely recognized for developing, engineering, and
deploying innovative technologies, including the first wireless 4G service from a national carrier in
the United States (Sprint, 2012). In order to continue being one of the leading providers in wireless
communication, Sprint will have to continue looking at innovative ways to stay ahead of its
competitors and providing customers with excellent services. In taking a look at the environmental
scanning process for Sprint, it must be noted that external information must be gathered from all levels
need to be evaluated to see what kind of information is being distributed inside the company that
could possibly cause concerns for management as it relates to any changes. With the market changing,
Sprint has to scan the market environment by looking at technology and the competition. Sprint tracks

Courbet The Sleepers Essay
In spite of a plethora of artistic movements and periods, one trope has persisted throughout the course
of Western art the nude woman. The champion of Realism, Gustave Courbet, was no stranger to
painting the nude. Yet, by the middle of the nineteenth century, the nude was no longer beholden to the
Greco Roman tradition nor to the antiquated tastes of academic art. Courbet s realist nude was a
rupture from the idealized figures shown in classical sculpture and the convention of peinture d
histoire. The prevalence of perfectly constructed bodies, characterized by slender figures and defined
musculature, was overshadowed by a new take on the genre. Closer examination of Courbet s nude
paintings, however, reveals a precarious line on which the artist balanced in depicting a real woman

5). The painting shows the languid bodies of two women lovers wrapped in a sensual caress. The artist
juxtaposes two voluptuous women, one dark haired and the other with golden hair a prevalent motif in
nineteenth century eroticism, which is also echoed in another of Courbet s double nudes, Venus and
Psyche (fig. 6). In The Sleepers, Courbet exploits the nude as an erotic device to depict a scene of
lesbianism. He does not conceal the sexual nature of the image, but instead amplifies it. Every aspect
of the painting exudes desire. The skin of the women is clammy; they are heavily fatigued; their heads
are nestled together in a gesture of intimacy all of which is indicative of an intense romantic struggle.
Perhaps more so than The Origin of the World, the viewer is left to examine the painting from a
voyeuristic position. It is as if the viewer has intruded upon a private scene of raw intimacy between
the women. Thus, it is not merely the context of the scene that lends the painting its erotic quality, but
how Courbet renders his

The National Spelling Of America Essay
Every year, millions of students, no older than in eighth grade, compete in local level spelling bees
with hopes of making it to the ultimate spelling competition, the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Held
at the end of May or beginning of June each year, millions of spectators around the world watch the
bee, which is held just outside Washington, DC. The Scripps National Spelling Bee, while a fantastic
educational experience, both for learning the ins and outs of the English language and for learning
about the history of America, is in dire need of reform. I propose to you, the executives of the E.W.
Scripps Company, that the Scripps National Spelling Bee reform the competition by determining the
number of spellers from each state in a way that is proportional to the state s population, standardizing
the difficulty of bees prior to the national level, and decreasing the value of points earned from the
new addition of vocabulary. While spellers competing at the national level follow various paths to earn
their coveted spots, people from certain geographic areas have a tremendously easier path than others.
This difficult discrepancy is largely based on the number of spellers that each specific state allows to
progress to the national level each year. In the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee, sixteen states,
including Hawaii, Mississippi, and Nevada, sent only one speller from the entire state, while states
such as Ohio and California sent nineteen and seventeen respectively

Mobs In A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Cities truly was ...the best of times, and ...the worst of times,... (Dickens 7). The worst
of times was especially portrayed through the mobs in France. In A Tale of Two Cities, Dickens writes
about mobs and how the peasants and even the aristocrats act while in a mob. The motif of mobs
reveals the theme of how easily people are influenced by others around them such as Roger Cly s
funeral , the storming of the Bastille, and when the peasants were trying to find Old Foulon. Mobs are
seen throughout the book, but a huge mob occurred during Roger Cly s faked funeral. Roger Cly was
a spy, and during the French Revolution the peasants strongly disliked spies because they could not be
trusted. The people of St. Antoine did not know that Cly s funeral was being faked. They all gathered

even the horse drawn carriages could not move and had to stop. Even if the people did not know who
Cly was, they wanted him and the other spies dead. Not only were the people stopping the carriages

Bviii Describe how your own work must be influenced by National factors such as Codes of Practice,
National Occupational Standards, Legislation and Government Initiatives. Answer My work is directly
impacted by all of the above every day. Codes of Practice and Occupational Standards form our
mission, vision and values. Legislation dictates our level and quality of care. Government initiatives
impact the people we serve. For example, a code of practice in action, and in a very general sense may
be staff supporting, but also providing the tools, for individuals to become more independent. Too
much support, they would learn dependence. Tools alone without support, they may not understand
how to use them or when to use them. Occupational Standards would be a general guide for each
career within a given field, that expresses the foundational do s and don ts for each. Example, we
would provide a minimum amount of service, documented and within the guidelines for the
individual, while if we offered additional services that are needed and appropriate to the individual,
that would be good. Laws protect for the most part. Most laws are based on safety. So legislation that
offers greater protection for the people we serve, and laws that provide a clear expectation for staff
which if we follow judiciously, also protects us are incorporated

Beer Club History
As a beer lover and a native to the region, I had so many questions when I started Capital Beer by
Garret Peck. What part did D.C. play in the beer industry? What was the beer scene in D.C.? Did
anything interesting happen? Did D.C. play an important part? Was the beer scene of years before
anything like today? I was expecting a slim history on the beer industry in Washington, D.C. Instead, I
got a well thought out retrospective on the industry, its place in history, and its role in the development
of the District of Columbia(D.C.) and the United States. There were four things that stood out from all
the rest the first brewery in D.C., Catherine Dentz, Robert Portner, and beer gardens.

The Grudge Essays
Lesson Four: Capstone Review
(The Grudge)
The film I recently watched was The Grudge. The film was filmed entirely in Tokyo where Japanese
director Takaghi Shimizu brought the popular Japanese horror stories to the American movie viewers.
I went into The Grudge expecting a horror film based on the previews I had seen. When I watched the
movie I found it to be quite a bit scary than what the previews had made it to be. So the film held up to
its previews, however it was scary I would not rank it very high.
The movie stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, During the film Sarah Michelle Gellar plays (Karen Davis) as
an American exchange student who volunteers at a home care agency in return for university credit.
When one of the regular nurses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shocked by what she seen, Karen is briefly hospitalized. She hears a strange noise coming from the
presumably vacant second floor. Making her way up the creaky stairs, and into a darkened bedroom,
Karen is about to set the plot through a series of flashbacks and flash forwards, this film tells of
horrible events that happen in a house and forever stains the place to the point where anyone and
everyone who enters is cursed and will eventually be claimed by the ghosts who inhabit the place. The
movie claims the Japanese believe if a person dies in a fit of rage, their spirit continues to haunt the
living.
The acting by Sarah Michelle Gellar during the movie was good and the rest of the acting isn t bad
either, there really wasn t any actor that didn t do a good job fulfilling his or her part. The films special
effects are also pretty good, they are also very freighting as well. The best thing about the movie and
what really makes the movie so scary is that it has some great cinematography. The shots look good,
and there are a great number of shots in the movie. The scenes are weird and a little outrageous at
times from the repeated gruesome images of a bloodied woman, depictions of suicides, murders, to the
disfigured body parts, but I do like how the film does fit the disjointed scenes together, it leaves your
imagination filling

Tollund Man is a 2400 year old naturally mummified body that was discovered in 1950 in a danish

being hung by a rope noose, because he believed in another god than his community, which suggested
he was rebelling against his own community. According to Source A, the Danish police report, Tollund
Man wore an iron neck ring, which was typically what slaves wore during the Iron Age. Furthermore,
Tollund Man was found with no clothes on, which indicates that he might have been immensely poor.

The Crucible By Nicholas Hytner Essay
The movie I chose to research was the crucible, directed by Nicholas Hytner but written by Arthur
Miller. This film starred a young Wynona Ryder along with Daniel day Lewis and Paul Scofield.
Originally released on November 27th 1996, the film was well received even being nominated for an
Oscar in 1997, along with 26 additional academy awards that year, sadly it only won 4. Of course a
film about witchcraft, an affair, and people being hanged would spark controversy especially since it
was rated at pg 13 but nothing major was said about this. On the other hand Rolling stone magazine
said In the film s most complex role, Day Lewis performs with quiet power. Playing nobility can make
actors insufferable, but Day Lewis keeps John Proctor human even when saddled with smudgy

The Bombing Of The Twin Towers
The bombing of the Twin Towers turned America s focused toward the Middle East. The War on
Terrorism began in earnest. This war has brought about more than one conflict. As a nation, the United
States is unique. The government is not run by any particular regime or religion, there is freedom. Yet,
this is our unique brand of freedom. The Middle East is full of peoples with their own way of life that
do not necessarily agree with the way we see freedom. Lila Abu Lughod discusses one of the many
difference between the United States and the Middle East, the use of head coverings and the burqa, in
her article Do Muslim Women Really Need Saving? She examines the cultural significance and
different types of veiling. Culture permeates every part of life. As Americans, maybe this is harder to
see. Yet, everything from the way we talk to what we choose to wear is the result of culture. This
makes it vital to understand that many things have a cultural significance. Abu Lughod expresses her
dismay over the obsession with the plight of Muslim women being focused on the burqa (209). Many
people have adopted the burqa as the symbol of the oppression of Muslim women. Yet, the burqa is
simply a form of covering originally specific to the Pashtun people. Each form of covering is part of
the Islamic religion. Each holds significance for the community that wears it. The purpose of women
wearing a veil of any kind is to assure their protection in the public sphere from the harassment of

Toads and Toads Revisited Comparison (Philip Larkin)
Toads and Toads Revisited are poems in Philip Larkin s collection that describes both the perks and
burdens of a work life. Larkin s view of work in Toads is seen as a heavy load whereas in Toads
Revisited , it is seen as something that keeps him occupied and helps him though life. Toads Revisited
was written after Larkin became a firmly established chief librarian of the Hull Library and he had no
further to go because he had already reached the top position. His attitude to work had undergone
subtle changes from eight years ago to Toads Revisited. In this poem, Larkin has managed to escape
from the monotony of his desk, perhaps during lunch or break. He takes a walk around the park where

The word starves between two underscores adds emphasis and that people go hungry but no one goes
through starvation. Larkin also does not hide the idea that his hard work goes to pensioners. The idea
of shouting stuff your pension! is a rather disrespectful thought towards elderly people, enhanced by
the exclamation marks. However, Larkin uses a quote from Shakespearean literature, the stuff that
dreams are made on from the Tempest, Act 4, Scene 1 spoken as part of Prospero s resignation speech
refers to a scenario can only be fantasised and wished. Stuff refers to the materials that go into
creating an illusion, not to the object of a wish. Regardless of his complains, Larkin understands and
knows that something toad like exists in him as well and squats within himself. Larkin s play on the
alliteration of h suggests the sound of heaving and heaviness. The toad in him will never allow him to
blag his way through getting all the things he wants in life. He is never going to be able to shake off
work because of this toad in him that drives him to continue doing mundane tasks every day. He
knows he will be constantly discontent and dissatisfied with his life. With one toad sitting on his life
and the other sitting inside him, Larkin states that the spiritual truth of either truth is embodied by the
other and that it is hard to lose either, when you have both. In Larkin s case, it was

Kiwi Forest Birds
Before pests were introduced into New Zealand, it was home to thousands of birds and these all
evolved without the threat of predatory land mammals. Except for two species of bat, there were no
land mammals in New Zealand before humans arrived. Because of this, plants and animals did not
evolve defence mechanisms or any way to protect themselves from the predators. For instance, the
leaves of plants do not contain poisons to deter browsing mammals, while many birds and insects have
lost their ability to fly. Possums, rats, stoats, ferrets and feral cats all kill adult birds, their chicks and
raid their nests for eggs. They are also major competitors for sometimes wiping out entirely critical

Tax Reform Persuasive Speech
It amazes me to sit before parliament and witness the ignorance among my fellow noblemen, bishops,
knights, and burgesses who seem to rightfully believe the best course of action for England to take, is
to increase taxes in order to sustain a military buildup. We are some of the most well educated
individuals of this kingdom, yet many of you are so caught up in your own petulance, that you fail to
realize just how unrealizable this legislation is. England s defenses are well kept, and have proven
time and time again to be able to withstand foreign aggression. Rather than focusing on tax reform
that would only harm the hard working laborers of this nation, we should instead focus our efforts
towards maintaining low tax rates for these individuals while we continue to revive our economy.
There are few in this nation who could healthy support and pay for this tax, especially after the rise of
enclosures in 1517. The only way to do this is to underwrite princely ambition, for passion is a
dangerous trait which more often than not leads us astray from what is truly important. The current
state of England s defense is more than optimal. We have numerous castles which have withstood the
brunt of invasion and protected our great nations. Take Dover for example which overlooks the
English Channel, and the Strait of Dover. God has graced us with ... Show more content on

We should not be motivated by fear, but by God. For if war were truly to break out, our fortifications
will be rendered useless if we are not in the Lord s favor, no amount of money can save us from his
glorious wrath. And the Lord certainly does not favor those who are motivated by temporal goods.
Peace is far more beneficial than the spoils of war, and the rewards are far greater than simply by
glory and extension of territory. England is safe as long as her prince holds himself in a virtuous light

Leadership Style Of A Leader Essay
Each individual possesses a certain capacity for leadership. Whether is is learned or innate,
communication skills are a key factor in how a leader is perceived and followed. An individual s
leadership style is comprised of several factors within the workplace environment and the individuals
that comprise it.Some theories debate whether leadership remains the same no matter the
circumstance, where others maintain that individuals might use others to gain leadership for noble
means. Regardless of the charisma or communication an individual uses in their leadership style, each
person should follow the example of Christ to become a respectable, caring, and honorable role model
of love and generosity.

How Leaders Lead Almost every single day an individual has an opportunity to be a leader. Whether it
be leading a political party, an office project group, or simply leading by setting an example, all
leaders have their own approach and individual style. Not every form or style of leadership is
appropriate for every situation. How we choose to implement our leadership style and translate it to
the situation will dictate the effectiveness of our leadership.

Culture Changes During The Edo Period
Culture Changes during the Edo Period
The Edo Period in Japan (1600 1868) was ruled by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu who was appointed by
the Emperor. During this time, many changes happened to promote stability among the people and
Japan. Early The Shogun adoptive a system which was later called Neo Confucianism based on
Confucianism (From China). This system stressed the importance of morals, education and
hierarchical order in the government and society (Japan Guide.com).The Shogun needed to create
peace and by using segregation, there were four types of divisions during the Edo period. First at the
top was the Shogun and Samurai, they created structure and peace among the domains. Second in line
was the peasants because without them the most important need would not be filled which was food.
Artisans were third in line being they added some value for the reason that they produced goods like
swords for the Samurai, artwork, music, and painting/printing. Last on the list of importance was the
merchants. Merchants made money off people and therefor held no value to the Shogun. Due to a
closed door policy that was enforced by the Shogun hardly anything came into Japan without
permission during the Edo period. The Shogun also limited trade with other Western Nations and
prevented Japan from trading. For over 200 years Japan has little to do with trade outside with the
exception of a Dutch post in Nagasaki and maintaining relations with China and a post in Pusan where

2. Recommendation of the book A Wrinkle in Time is a thought provoking novel that keeps readers
alert until the very end. L Engle starts the story off with a friendly and welcoming mood by slowly
informing the reader about the characters, the setting, and the problem. Then, she progresses through
the plot at a thrilling pace, presenting multiple challenges to the characters. L Engle tells the story in a
clear and concise way so that readers can understand exactly what is going on in the story. Also, I feel
that A Wrinkle in Time was an allegory that had a strong and recurring theme true love can conquer
evil. Students in high school can read this novel to search for its figurative meaning while younger
students can treat this novel as an exciting fantasy. Overall, this novel is approachable to a wide
variety of audiences, and I would highly recommend A Wrinkle in Time.

Examples Of Santiago A Perfect Man In The Old Man And The Sea
After reading The Old Man and the Sea you have your thoughts about the book. A writer named
William J. Handy wrote a review on The Old Man and the Sea. He said in his quote that basically the
main character named Santiago is perfect. He says that Santiago knows himself, he knows all of his
actions, and he knows what s on the inside of him. This quote is very accurate and is very truthful. In
The Old Man and the Sea Santiago shows that he is a perfect man by his job, his faith, and through the
marlin. Santiago shows how he is a perfect man through a fish he catches. Santiago is on an 84 day
streak of not being able to catch a single fish. One day Santiago decides to go out on a big fishing trip
to try to end his streak. But are you strong enough now for a truly big fish? I think so. And there are
many tricks (Hemingway 3). This quote shows that even though Santiago is on a streak of not being
able to catch any fish, he is ready and prepared to catch a very big fish. While Santiago is stuck in the
ocean he decides to start fishing. After a while of fishing Santiago hooks a very big fish. Santiago
hooks a gigantic Marlin. Now before Santiago hooked this marlin, he had spent a dreadful three days
eating raw dolphin and not being able to catch anything. When he hooked this Marlin he is extremely
weak and tired. After a long fought duel with the marlin, Santiago is able to hook the marlin and attach
it to his

boat. The reason why this shows that Santiago is perfect

Phoenix Jackson Wisdom
If you had lived multiple lives and witnessed countless events how would you use that wisdom? In A
Worn Path , written by Eudora Welty, Phoenix Jackson is an elderly woman living in Natchez,
Mississippi. She is a woman of strength and perseverance who is willing to make a long trek to town
every year to get the necessary medicine for her ill grandson. She has experienced countless events
that have allowed her to have a great deal of wisdom. The same is for the phoenix bird who can live
up to a thousand years. During these years it is exposed to a large amount of information which they
in turn use in their lifetime. The phoenix bird and Phoenix Jackson share similar characteristics with
their strength, the fire in their heart, their watchful eye, and their ability to fulfill a greater purpose.
Phoenix Jackson embodies and represents the phoenix bird. Phoenix Jackson s mission is to get the
medicine that her grandson desperately needs. This journey that she makes into town happens without
hesitation, and is like clockwork. Each time she goes to get this medicine it is like giving her grandson
new life and he is reborn in a sense. This is like the phoenix bird who makes a restless voyage to a

With these events a great deal of wisdom is revealed to her. Phoenix s wisdom is also an indicator of
how old she is. Her eyes were blue with age (p.1). This is not only a reference to her eyesight but also
explains Phoenix s age. Phoenix is asked by a hunter what her age is and she says, There is no telling,
mister... no telling (p.4). Phoenix is unaware of her own age and truly tells how old she is. Many
characteristics can be drawn to the phoenix bird from this. The phoenix is a bird that lives a long time
and over time is able to adapt because of the information it has gathered and the wisdom it has gained.

Sheepscot Bay Boat Company Case Summary
Building Materials: We selected the vendor Belletetes Lumber who was suggested to us by our
customer George Rickley. He and the owner Jack Belletetes have a personal and business relationship.
The only constraint for the materials was the packaging. All the materials had to be palletized,
wrapped or bundled, so they could be carried across the harbor in the sling from the helicopter.
Plumbing and Electrical Supplies: The customer picked all the brands and styles of materials. The rest
of the materials list was provided through the architectural plans. The electrician and the plumber
obtained all the materials through their suppliers. Delivery Company: We initially sought to move the
building materials and debris across the harbor by barge and crane. However, that proved more time
consuming and costly. The ledges around the island prevented the barge from getting close enough to
the house. We conducted a search over the internet and selected ... Show more content on

The only constraints were the location of the dumpsters. After meeting with the owner of the
fisherman s Co op we decided on a location that was out of the way for their customers yet accessible
for our contractors. Transportation: The Sheepscot Bay Boat Company was suggested as a possible
solution for transportation of the contractors across the harbor by George Rickley. The only
constraints were created by the limit of two rental boats. The contractors had to communicate their
schedule between each other to coordinate the crossing of the harbor. One boat had to be on each side
of the harbor so people could cross from either side at all times. Parking: The contractors parked in the
local parking lots. The only constraints were not to block access to the pier and be respectful to the
property and the people. The link below is to the MS Project PDF file for the project resource

Morality In The Lottery
When thinking of traditions, the first few that come to mind are putting up the Christmas tree, going to
the fair, and many others. Traditions intertwine between families and others as well, and even
nationwide. However, there are some traditions that we are not able to fathom. For example, in The
Lottery , there is a lottery drawn every year for a good crop season. During this tradition, one person
from the community is stoned to death as a sacrifice. Why don t people question traditions like this?
People who grow up in certain communities do things a little different than their neighboring towns,
because it is what they have known their entire life. To them, it is normal . Consistency is like a drug
due to the fact that people do not always adapt well. People often fixate on repeated circumstances and
the outcome can be detrimental. Repeating the lottery every year in their town is quite out of the
morality I have, however, it is the tradition they all are familiar with. Shockingly enough, the world
continuously changes while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

easy to follow the norm of a tradition because of the lifestyle you were shown as a kid. Watching the
fireworks on the fourth of July, participating in the hunting of Easter eggs, and also preparing
Thanksgiving dinner never brought a question to my mind such as, Why am I doing this? . As a child
you are dependent on your parents and there is usually no question as to why they are doing the things
they do each year just like those who participated in the stoning. Some of the people who threw stones
were little boys and girls who thought this incidence was okay because it was a tradition. The town

Solar Power Rating
Solar Stats: How much Energy are my Panels Producing?
There are three main factors to consider when trying to determine how much energy your panels are
producing. For starters, the amount of energy being produced will depend greatly on the amount of
sunlight that the panels are subjected to. Along with this, it will also depend on the size of the panel as
well as the quality of the solar cells that make up the panels.
In order to determine if switching to solar is the right decision to make, learning more about energy
production is an important step. To do this, it is best to focus on some particular areas when
conducting research. These areas are discussed further below.
Power Rating
When selecting specific solar panels, it is important to note the number that is listed on the back of
them. This number will indicate the power that is given off under the best circumstances. This number
is referred to as the maximum power rating. When the panels are tested in a laboratory setting, this
number is calculated by determining the amount of power that they will produce at noon at the equator
on a sunny day. The maximum power rating will allow homeowners to understand the maximum
amount of power that they should expect to see from the solar panels that they choose.
Location ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep in mind that it is not likely that the chosen solar panels will receive the amount of sunlight that is
available at the equator. Also, the actual amount of sunlight will vary throughout the day. Since it is
best upon both the season and the weather, it isn t possible to use the maximum power rating to
determine the exact power that will be seen from the solar panel. However, there are still ways to
determine how well a panel will perform in a particular area. To learn this information, the average
amount of sunlight that occurs in a particular area is necessary. With this information, one can
calculate the best panel to purchase in order to receive the best

How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Maggot Movement
The Effect Of Temperature On The Rate Of Maggot Movement. Environmental Systems and Societies
Planning Lab Gaurav Iyer
Research Question
To what extent does temperature affect the movement of Maggots?
Introduction
This Experiment aims to analyze the behaviour of the maggots in a particular temperature. Behaviour
of the maggots is defined as the way they respond to their surrounding and environment. Maggots are
organisms which react by quickly and a series of varied reflex reactions are shown and adapted. These
kinds of actions are very important for keeping itself in a particular environment to live. Therefore, it
would be expected that all maggots react in the same way to show a particular behavioural trend.
Temperature is an environmental factor that will affect the maggot s behaviour. The temperature in the
environment helps the maggots determine their rate of metabolism and its internal temperature. These
organisms move according to the environmental temperature. A trend can be found to show the effect
of temperature on the rate of movement of maggots.
Hypothesis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At higher temperatures, chemical reactions such as metabolism happen more faster because of the
increase in kinetic energy of the particles. As metabolism supplies the organism with energy, there will
be more energy produced at high temperatures. Thus, at higher temperatures the maggots will move
more quickly as their pacy rate of metabolism gives them energy to do so. Also, if the temperature is
too high for the maggots, there will be a decrease in the metabolic speed because of killing of enzymes
which will cause the maggots to move

The Role Of Religion In The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages or the Medieval times, religion was a huge aspect of many people s lives,
especially the Christians. During the early Middle Ages, Christianity was a new religion that was not
accepted in the Roman Empire. As it became more popular and the religion spread, it soon became the
religion of the Roman Empire, and people began to worship openly. As the Middle Ages progressed, it
quickly became the most popular religion. Churches were built and they were a huge influencer. Art
was also a huge influencer, as many artists who were Christian created sculptures, paintings, and other
forms of art to display their devotion to Christ. People of the faith would also use these forms of art to
worship. Depictions of Christ in his early life were very prominent during this time, and people would
visit them and worship these forms of art. People would go to or create these artworks that depicted
the early life of Christ, whether they were sculptures or paintings, to show their devotion to the faith,
to worship, and also for expanding their influence. During the Middle Ages, people of the Christian
faith would both create and visit these artworks that depicted the early life of Christ to show their
devotion to the religion. Even though religious art has been around since the beginning of Christianity,
it became very prominent during the central Middle Ages when an abundant amount of churches,
abbeys, and cathedrals were being built. These establishments were being

  • 2. Are People Naturally Good Or Evil Research A straightforward question. Are humans naturally good or evil? A simple question that has many of different answers and a question that may require deep thinking. For me, both sides I was drawn to. My household is christian, so I thought of the religious answer, but I also thought that people are born good and their environment and decisions can cause them to be evil. This is what I came up with. When I thought of this question the first thing that popped up in my head is babies , so I did a little research. Babies are humans with the absolute minimum of cultural influence (bbc.com). They don t have a lot of friends, and they don t go to school or read any books. Their minds are as innocent as any obtain. Yale university did an experiment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Some People Like Poetry Europe Paper Elton Pope states, When you re a kid, they tell you it s all... Grow up, get a job, get married, get a house, have a kid, and that s it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It s so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better . Throughout one s personal timeline, events in which occur in what seems like random happenstance are actually what help to shape one into the person they are destined to be. Times like these are often known as stepping stones , and take place in each individual s lives. The cycle of life withholds three major events in which are touched upon in European literature. Appreciation of life, overcoming milestones, and facing death, are all well experienced events spread across ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finding yourself and one s individuality is apart of each person s journey throughout life. In the poem Some People Like Poetry , the narrator gives an obvious statement of being who you are. [B]ut then, you can like chicken noodle soup, or compliments, or the color blue, your old scarf, your own way, petting the dog (489). Despite the like and dislikes, sense of who you are is a large portion of every person s life. Being smacked abruptly by reality is unfortunate, yet a very relatable experience taken on by all people. The narrator from Ars Poetica! shows the struggle with finding that the world is not exactly what was expected of it. And yet the world is different from what it seems to be and we are other than how we see ourselves (493). With overcoming and accepting disappointments in life, we as people develop into more rational beings. Author Szymborska, expresses the realization of human alikeness through her quote, [M]ortal a hundred out of a hundred. Thus far this figure still remains unchanged (491). Much growth to better ourselves is allowed after having experiencing finding your individuality, and acceptance of others and the world. • 4. Analysis Of Both Flesh And Not By David Foster Wallace Both Flesh And Not, written by David Foster Wallace is an essay written as a childhood fairytale in a metaphorical way to introduce and illustrate Wallace s ideas. A gallant knight risks his life fighting the dragon, who is protecting the castle, to get what he wants, which is the fair maiden also known as a good looking virgin . Is that what the essay is really about? No, Wallace specifically uses this to comment on and represent the AIDS crisis, the way he observed it. The gallant knight, referring to men, desires sex and is willing to risk their life and take the chance of contracting AIDS. Although, Wallace does specify men towards the beginning of the essay, towards the end, he broadens his idea from just men, to include everyone with sexual desire and sexuality as part of human nature. Wallace s intentions in the piece is used by engaging the audience to bring awareness to society about the sexual choices people made and its consequences, the views of AIDS in a positive perspective, and to show that sex is natural in human life. Primarily, Wallace brings awareness to society about the sexual choices people made and their consequences. In some cases, those consequences included HIV and AIDS. The thought of a person contracting HIV or AIDS, appeals to a person s emotions and value, due to the fact it affects a person long term, is also an example of pathos. • 6. Courbet The Sleepers Essay In spite of a plethora of artistic movements and periods, one trope has persisted throughout the course of Western art the nude woman. The champion of Realism, Gustave Courbet, was no stranger to painting the nude. Yet, by the middle of the nineteenth century, the nude was no longer beholden to the Greco Roman tradition nor to the antiquated tastes of academic art. Courbet s realist nude was a rupture from the idealized figures shown in classical sculpture and the convention of peinture d histoire. The prevalence of perfectly constructed bodies, characterized by slender figures and defined musculature, was overshadowed by a new take on the genre. Closer examination of Courbet s nude paintings, however, reveals a precarious line on which the artist balanced in depicting a real woman versus an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5). The painting shows the languid bodies of two women lovers wrapped in a sensual caress. The artist juxtaposes two voluptuous women, one dark haired and the other with golden hair a prevalent motif in nineteenth century eroticism, which is also echoed in another of Courbet s double nudes, Venus and Psyche (fig. 6). In The Sleepers, Courbet exploits the nude as an erotic device to depict a scene of lesbianism. He does not conceal the sexual nature of the image, but instead amplifies it. Every aspect of the painting exudes desire. The skin of the women is clammy; they are heavily fatigued; their heads are nestled together in a gesture of intimacy all of which is indicative of an intense romantic struggle. Perhaps more so than The Origin of the World, the viewer is left to examine the painting from a voyeuristic position. It is as if the viewer has intruded upon a private scene of raw intimacy between the women. Thus, it is not merely the context of the scene that lends the painting its erotic quality, but how Courbet renders his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The National Spelling Of America Essay Every year, millions of students, no older than in eighth grade, compete in local level spelling bees with hopes of making it to the ultimate spelling competition, the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Held at the end of May or beginning of June each year, millions of spectators around the world watch the bee, which is held just outside Washington, DC. The Scripps National Spelling Bee, while a fantastic educational experience, both for learning the ins and outs of the English language and for learning about the history of America, is in dire need of reform. I propose to you, the executives of the E.W. Scripps Company, that the Scripps National Spelling Bee reform the competition by determining the number of spellers from each state in a way that is proportional to the state s population, standardizing the difficulty of bees prior to the national level, and decreasing the value of points earned from the new addition of vocabulary. While spellers competing at the national level follow various paths to earn their coveted spots, people from certain geographic areas have a tremendously easier path than others. This difficult discrepancy is largely based on the number of spellers that each specific state allows to progress to the national level each year. In the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee, sixteen states, including Hawaii, Mississippi, and Nevada, sent only one speller from the entire state, while states such as Ohio and California sent nineteen and seventeen respectively ... Mobs are seen throughout the book, but a huge mob occurred during Roger Cly s faked funeral. Originally released on November 27th 1996, the film was well received even being nominated for an Oscar in 1997, along with 26 additional academy awards that year, sadly it only won 4. Of course a film about witchcraft, an affair, and people being hanged would spark controversy especially since it was rated at pg 13 but nothing major was said about this. Yet, this is our unique brand of freedom. The Middle East is full of peoples with their own way of life that do not necessarily agree with the way we see freedom. Lila Abu Lughod discusses one of the many difference between the United States and the Middle East, the use of head coverings and the burqa, in her article Do Muslim Women Really Need Saving? She examines the cultural significance and different types of veiling. Culture permeates every part of life. As Americans, maybe this is harder to see. Yet, everything from the way we talk to what we choose to wear is the result of culture. This makes it vital to understand that many things have a cultural significance. Abu Lughod expresses her dismay over the obsession with the plight of Muslim women being focused on the burqa (209). Many people have adopted the burqa as the symbol of the oppression of Muslim women. Yet, the burqa is simply a form of covering originally specific to the Pashtun people. There have been individuals found dead after aerial 1080 drops from 19 species of native birds, although this mainly occurred in the 1970s. 7 of the 38 tagged kea in Ōkārito Forest in August 2011 were killed during an aerial possum control 1080 drop kea are particularly susceptible to 1080 poison baits because of their omnivorous and inquisitive nature. 1080 is biodegradable and breaks down in the environment quickly because it dissolves readily in water and is diluted quickly. Tax Reform Persuasive Speech It amazes me to sit before parliament and witness the ignorance among my fellow noblemen, bishops, knights, and burgesses who seem to rightfully believe the best course of action for England to take, is to increase taxes in order to sustain a military buildup. We are some of the most well educated individuals of this kingdom, yet many of you are so caught up in your own petulance, that you fail to realize just how unrealizable this legislation is. England s defenses are well kept, and have proven time and time again to be able to withstand foreign aggression. Rather than focusing on tax reform that would only harm the hard working laborers of this nation, we should instead focus our efforts towards maintaining low tax rates for these individuals while we continue to revive our economy. There are few in this nation who could healthy support and pay for this tax, especially after the rise of enclosures in 1517. The only way to do this is to underwrite princely ambition, for passion is a dangerous trait which more often than not leads us astray from what is truly important. • 24. Culture Changes During The Edo Period Culture Changes during the Edo Period The Edo Period in Japan (1600 1868) was ruled by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu who was appointed by the Emperor. During this time, many changes happened to promote stability among the people and Japan. Early The Shogun adoptive a system which was later called Neo Confucianism based on Confucianism (From China). This system stressed the importance of morals, education and hierarchical order in the government and society (Japan Guide.com).The Shogun needed to create peace and by using segregation, there were four types of divisions during the Edo period. First at the top was the Shogun and Samurai, they created structure and peace among the domains. Second in line was the peasants because without them the most important need would not be filled which was food. Artisans were third in line being they added some value for the reason that they produced goods like swords for the Samurai, artwork, music, and painting/printing. Last on the list of importance was the merchants. Merchants made money off people and therefor held no value to the Shogun. Due to a closed door policy that was enforced by the Shogun hardly anything came into Japan without permission during the Edo period. The Shogun also limited trade with other Western Nations and prevented Japan from trading. For over 200 years Japan has little to do with trade outside with the exception of a Dutch post in Nagasaki and maintaining relations with China and a post in Pusan where ... Handy wrote a review on The Old Man and the Sea. He said in his quote that basically the main character named Santiago is perfect. He says that Santiago knows himself, he knows all of his actions, and he knows what s on the inside of him. This quote is very accurate and is very truthful. In The Old Man and the Sea Santiago shows that he is a perfect man by his job, his faith, and through the marlin. Santiago shows how he is a perfect man through a fish he catches. Santiago is on an 84 day streak of not being able to catch a single fish. One day Santiago decides to go out on a big fishing trip to try to end his streak. But are you strong enough now for a truly big fish? I think so. And there are many tricks (Hemingway 3). This quote shows that even though Santiago is on a streak of not being able to catch any fish, he is ready and prepared to catch a very big fish. While Santiago is stuck in the ocean he decides to start fishing. After a while of fishing Santiago hooks a very big fish. Santiago hooks a gigantic Marlin. Now before Santiago hooked this marlin, he had spent a dreadful three days eating raw dolphin and not being able to catch anything. When he hooked this Marlin he is extremely weak and tired. After a long fought duel with the marlin, Santiago is able to hook the marlin and attach it to his 2 boat. The reason why this shows that Santiago is perfect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
