Not all the resources online are credible, mainly people opinion but most of them are credible because
it involved experimental and logical facts. If college students are not careful about using credible
resources then they will face difficulty during their research and will end up having an inadequate
research paper. Finding credible resources online is challenging when searching in Google or
Wikipedia. It involved a lot of reading and critical thinking and the articles may not be reliable at the
end, which is a waste of time. To make it easier for students to find credible resources without having
to search everywhere else, most colleges are now have online library systems where students can find
information about scholarly articles with databases by reading online using a computer. This library
system is useful and less stressful for the students to use and having access to the Internet at all time
gives them freedom to fully concentrated on finding the right article that supports their paper. A study
of students attitudes and usage toward the Internet in an agriculture course found that students use the
Internet because it is easy to understand, important, beneficial, believable and accurate (Rhoades et
al.) Students can stay at home to do their research by login online through library system without

The Apology Of Socrates
The Apology of Socrates is a Plato s version of speeches given by Socrates who was accused for two
main reasons: the corruption of the youth and impiety (not believing in gods in whom the city
believes). In the Apology Socrates tries to defend himself and his actions but not to apologize for it.
He insisted that he must be wiser than others because he knows and recognizes that knows nothing.
The Apology by Plato shows that there is a great influence of Socrates in searching for the truth about
humanity and society even when his attempt contradicted with the opinions of the many .

Socrates tells them that he will speak the truth, and pleads the judges to think of the justice of his
cause but not minding the style of his speech. In making his defense, Socrates will reply to two kinds
of accusations. At first, he refers to the older charges and his first accusers, and secondly he replies to
the accusations made by Meletus, Anytus, and Lycon. He was afraid of the older accusers most of all
and the reason behind this dread was that his accusers were many and he couldn t call them all by
name. These accusers falsely claims can be summed up in the following words: Socrates is an evil
doer, and a curious person, who searches into things under the earth and in heaven, and he makes the
worse appear the better cause; and he teaches the aforesaid doctrines to others. He responses to these
falsehoods by arguing that he has nothing to do with the physical sciences nor is he paid for giving
instruction he has nothing to teach. He then goes on to explain how he gained such a bad reputation.
The impetuous Chaerephon had gone to Delphi and asked the oracle if there was any man wiser than
Socrates; and the answer was, that there was no man wiser. After a long consideration Socrates thinks
of a method of trying a question. He goes to one who had the reputation of wisdom and selects a

People grow up in different way, affected by many different things as they grow and mature, during

Any children that may be on the at risk register must be supported by both the school and outside
agencies that are appropriate to their needs. It is the professional adults responsibility to ensure that
children and young people are aware of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. Question 2b
(Weighting: 0) An explanation of the importance of a child or young person centred approach. It is
critical that a person centred approach is always used with issues regarding safeguarding. The most
important aspect is ensuring that you listen to the child to gain all the relevant information that will
allow you to understand their needs. Where appropriate children should be involved in any meetings
that discuss them where you respect what they have to say and ask for their opinions. Children and
young people should be able to trust you so that they feel comfortable talking to you about any issues.
If a child trusts you, they are more likely to confide in you and express their feelings therefore any
actions that need to take place are more likely to happen at a much greater pace. It will allow any
authorities or organisations involved to gain vital information and therefore reach a more suitable
solution. If a child centred approach is not followed, then major information could be missed. An
example of this is when a little by; Daniel Pelka was murdered by his mother and her partner.
Agencies did not involve the child and only considered the explanations

The Approaches Of Various Architects And Urban Planners...
Humanity has always been dictated by its cities, these congregations of people seemingly organically
creating the systems for how we live. However towards the end of the 19th century a new monolith
started to plague skylines across the developed world, changing the shape of cities forever.
Skyscrapers were indicative of a turning point in western civilisation, what was originally planned to
be a great leveller of society, allowing for cheaper land prices in city areas, soon became a vestige of
the rich and powerful. I suggest that despite the evident need for this element of verticality, and its
success for select groups of society changes will need to be made to our attitudes towards it within
city planning if growth is to be fair, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These alternative modes of living are what have propelled development at an alarming and ever
increasing rate, through the discovery of organised agricultural methods during the Neolithic
Revolution (https://is.mendelu.cz/eknihovna/opory/zobraz_cast.pl?cast=71671) to the implementation
of the internet on a global scale, organically these solutions present themselves within the hive mind
of the city. While it s impossible to predict how society would have developed without coming
together in this way, it is clear that cities are a vital catalyst for change.
As well as understanding why we need cities, we must also analyse how they have developed in the
past if we are to theorise about their futures. However they have always developed in differing ways,
each is a product of its time, depending on the economic and social conditions of the period. While
this may make it seem more confusing to understand the development of individual cities, it provides
a broader explanation of what makes them so successful as a whole, they respond to the needs of the
day rather than follow any certain formula. In his work on the culture of cities Robert Mumford
suggests that cities are a product of time (MUMFORD), something that cannot be rushed, but allowed

Jonest Incident Narrative
I woke up to the irritating ring of my alarm, the smell of French toast lingering through the air, and the
feeling of a spider crawling up my arm. It started out like any other day, but I was wired from the
second I woke up, hoping this day would be one to remember. I set my alarm earlier than normal that
morning so that I could relax in a hot shower. My sisters beat me to the punch, however, and my
shower, per usual, was frigid. I hoped it wasn t an omen for how my day would proceed, but my
watering taste buds suggested otherwise. After I showered and got dressed, I went upstairs and finally
devoured the French toast I had been smelling all morning. As expected, it tasted like heaven and
renewed my excitement for the day. I once saw a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The seventh inning started, and the other team was furious that they were now losing. We got the first
out, then the second out, and all we had to do was get one more out. Their best hitter was up, and our
coach told everyone to scoot back a little. The pitch was thrown, and the kid ripped a shot right in my
direction. I froze at first, not knowing what to do. I had a million thoughts racing through my mind,
but luckily I just reacted and ran and caught the ball. The crowd went crazy. My teammates and my
coaches ran and dog piled me. My heart was beating faster than it ever had. We won! was the only
thing I could seem to get out of my mouth. My teammates started chanting my name. The most crucial
hour of my day was coming to an end, but before we could go home our coaches made us all come
into a huddle. The smell of sweaty boys, the roar of the crowd, and the sweet taste of victory which
tasted suspiciously like super chocolatey brownies was all I could bring in. Normally after our games,
our coach would talk for 10 or 15 minutes about what we could have done better, but this time he said
only one thing to us in that huddle: Well boys, this is definitely a day to

Persuasive Essay On The 14th Amendment
The Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States is perhaps the most sweeping and
has likely impacted the general jurisprudence of the Supreme Court the most of any other amendment.
This is because, where all other right protecting amendments protect something specific, the
fourteenth amendment was designed to ensure that states guaranteed due process rights, applied the
law equally, and protected the privileges [and] immunities of citizens of the United States. Because of
this language, the Fourteenth Amendment appears to be and to some extent is simply the application
of the Fifth Amendment, and through selective incorporation, the rest of the Bill of Rights. To that
end, the Fourteenth Amendment possesses a fortuitous expansion to the simple due process right: the
right to equal protection of the laws. Laws that appear to violate the Equal Protection Clause thusly
receive the same kind of scrutiny that other fundamental rights are given. The Fourteenth Amendment
is relatively new compared to the Bill of Rights, having been passed in 1868. The first major case that
dealt with the amendment were the Slaughterhouse Cases in 1872. In those cases, a group of
slaughterhouses that were put out of business by a Louisiana law creating a monopoly claimed that
they were denied equal protection under the law. Though the court ultimately denied their claim
primarily on the basis that the Privileges and Immunities Clause does not apply to the states, they also

Dance Team Performance
I have traveled to other countries, competed alongside professionals, performed in front of thousands
but what I have gained the most from was a journey that came to a loss. In 2013, my dance team was
invited to a national competition in New York City. Everyday I attended workshops surrounded by
talent of all ages. I invested my sweat and tears at studios my idols rehearsed at. Coming back from a
major injury, I knew I had to work harder than everyone else and persevere. Pain was not going to stop
me. Obstacles were not a big deal. However, the day of the competition arrived and we were short of
first place by less than half a point. We were leaving the city as runner ups disappointed. However, we

Cameras followed our every move as Nick Cannon instructed us to stand on the big red X. I walked
onto the glossy, black stage and was faced by thousands, but the only faces I could make out were the

Everything after that was a blur. My brain stopped working and muscle memory took over. I didn t

heart. I knew I had given it my all. Never expecting much, I told myself that as long as we didn t get

A Short Note On Severe Water Pollution On The San...
Kicker: Severe water pollution that exists in far away countries, could happen right here in the San
Francisco bay and its effects would be devastating.
Recall the last time you drove across the Golden Gate Bridge; looking to the sea and seeing the
whitecaps break against the rocks, and then looking at the bay and seeing the shimmering aqua
colored water filled with sailboats. But now, try and imagine a very different picture, you look towards
the bay and see oil slicks, floating tires, and islands of trash as the smell of rotting fish, gasoline and
sewage fill your nose. This may sound strange and fictional, but the truth is it isn t far from possible.
In fact, some of the these pollutants are flowing into the San Francisco bay already. Imagine living
next to a place like this, how would that make you feel? More importantly, what are the physical
health effects as a result of these pollutants? In the following article, we will explore how something
like this is possible (if not probable), and what effects it could have on the health of the Bay Area.
Firstly, we jump to a place far away from San Fransisco, about 7 thousand miles away to be exact
Brazil; a country suffering from a variety of problems, including a devastating drought, and massive
amounts of water pollution. The bay of Rio de Janeiro (Guanabara Bay), was once a recreational gem
that was swam through, canoed, and enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. More importantly, its rich,

The Aborigines Used Red Ochre For The Rock Carvingsxvi

Western Australia where the rock carvings are thought to number in the millions. There are three main
types of Aboriginal art. The first being engraved geometric figures. The second being silhouettes of

The Aborigines used stone tools for hunting and gathering. Because they did not domesticate animals
or begin to farm, they had no need for anything more than stone tools. They also did not need to focus
so much on technological advancements because their lives were centered around the land and the
religious significance it containedxx. However, the Aborigines still made many scientific
advancements. They created many stone tools to hunt and fish such as knives, scrapers, axe heads,
spears, various vessels for eating and drinking, and digging sticks. They were also the first group to
introduce ground edges on cutting tools and to grind seeds into an edible or medicinal pastexxi. The
Aborigines also created the boomerang, which is now known as a common toy which returns when

the landscape with a deeper meaning, which were passed on through generations. However, they
mainly used art to express religious significancexxiii. As well as oral myths, they also created oral

My Search For Going To College
What do you mean I cannot live with my parents for the rest of my life? So you mean to tell me that I
actually have to become an adult? . These have been the thoughts plaguing my mind for the past four
years and now that my time is up, I get to do something about them. My main problem with going to
college is being away from my home, my family, and my friends. I knew that if I were to pick the
wrong college, I would be running back to my mom in a weeks time. Finding the right college is a
universal challenge for every upcoming college student, but when I found Baylor University I knew it
was my new home.
My hunt for the perfect college started my freshmen year of high school. During that time in my life, I
felt there was a big weight on my shoulders to be successful in life. Since picking the right college is a
big part of being successful, I was feeling overwhelmed. There are about 1,400 colleges in the United
States and I had to narrow that down to a top five, frantic was an understatement about how I was
feeling. Taking a step back to look at the big picture, I decided to evaluate what I was looking for in a
college; I came up with the following list: have my desired major (Astrophysics), be far away from
home (but not too far), and to live in a big city.
Applying my new set of criteria, I now only had 3 colleges to choose from: University of Texas at
Austin, Rice University, and Baylor University. I gave my contact information to each of them and in
time I had a scheduled visit to Baylor University.
When I arrived on the Baylor campus I immediately felt at home. I had the honor of attending the
Baylor Premier, which acts like a huge campus tour for everyone that attends the seminar.
Everybody was so genuinely nice and enthusiastic about me being there, I got the feeling that was
where I belonged. I could see myself walking the campus with my newly found friends on the way to
our The Atomic Theory 101 class. Although I have a tendency of letting my head float in the sky, I had
to snap myself out of my dreamland and back into reality to remember that I still had two other
options for my perfect college. Not wanting to make my decision after only seeing one school I
scheduled campus tours with The

Anne Frank Patience
With Waiting Comes Reward Good things will come as long as you can be patient. Patience shows

The People Could Fly tells a story about slaves who worked all day long but they stayed patient and
had hope, yet they were able to escape. On page 361, it says, Hadn t the time to teach them to fly, they
must wait for a chance to run. I chose this quote because Toby tells them if they can be patient long
enough they will get their chance to get away. The others will wait and eventually get away, which
shows patience. Finally the last example of patience is Invictus by William Earnest Henley. Invictus
tells a story about a man determined never to change his will or his fate. On line 11, he says, and yet

means he has slim chances, but I believe that with patience he can defeat the low odds and make it

The Importance Of The Media
With the fantastic spur both in industry and economy in the world, the spread of media is on the rise.
In general, media refers to the implement of mass communication, it consists of newspaper,
magazines, television, the internet and so forth. There is a huge amount of media users around the
world which means the number of audiences is large. As generally acknowledged, nowadays, the
spread of news, entertainment has a rapid speed through the media and mass communication. The
public opinions and thoughts can be easily affected by the spread of media, also, mass communication
of the news media may provide some bias and prejudice of the news. In this sense, to have a powerful
communication tool, the agenda setting theory demonstrates that it is better if shaping the various
news in order to create a moral society (Kiousis and McCombs, 2004). In general, agenda setting
describes the effects of the media on the general public, the ability to choose important issues (Moon
2011, p.699). The sense of agenda setting has been deeply accepted by the public a long time ago. In
1992, Walter Lippmann (1992), a newspaper columnist, argued that the mass media has the ability to
produce images of events that can be present to the public. Since 1948, Lazarsfeld and Metton (1948)
acknowledged that the function of the press to give specific status upon events it emphasizes. Till
1959, Norton Long (Long 1958) also illustrated that media will grasp specific attention from the

Social media has become one of the greatest developments of human technology history. In today s
society, human are surrounding by the social media and wireless devices. In Shannon Matesky s
spoken word poem MySpace , the poet explains physical contact is more important than our number
of contacts (Matesky). According to the poet, Shannon Matesky successfully redefines the word
Myspace from a formal definition of the distance from other people or things that a person needs in
order to remain comfortable (Merriam Webster), to an operational definition of the contact created on
the social media. People now forget how to stay with face to face relationship, social media become
the new way of communication. We can t deal with the face to face so we let technology replace the
space that people are supposed to fill (Matesky), said Matesky, we are losing the ability to connect
each individual face to face, and socially connection has been taking over through social media by

John Edgar Wideman s, Our Time , tells the story of how his brother s mistakes have caused Robby

have been his home town, his family, or his friends? Those are the questions. I feel like it may have
been the ghetto , Homewood, that influenced him.

Homewood the reasons for his horrible actions? Maybe it is because when the family moved there,
Robby had freedom. He ran into the wrong crowd that seem to grasp his attention. Homewood was
where Robby met his best friend, Garth. Garth died a mysterious death later on.
Garth s death just added to the fact that Robby was already bitter with the world and had a pessimistic

been able to do something more to help him. Robby ended up resenting the world causing him to lash
out and become the bad child .
John, from my point of view, listened to his mother and decided to abide by her rules. He knew the
consequences of life. If Robby had gone by his mom s rules maybe he would have turned out like his
brothers and sisters, mainly John. Although John lived far away when his brother was getting in
trouble, he still kept in touch with the family. He was very disappointed in his brother for letting their
mother down. I wasn t around for all of that. Didn t

Assignment 1b
Theoretical Assumptions: There are five identified stages that students move through on their way to
becoming conventional spellers: emergent spelling, letter name alphabetic spelling, within word
patters spelling, syllables and affixes spelling, and derivational relations spelling. At each stage,
students use different strategies and focus on particular aspects of spelling.
Words Their Way is an instructional approach and a wonderful addition to word study. It provides a
practical way to study words with students. Using Words Their Way gives teachers a great
understanding of their individual students by knowing your students literacy development, organize
for instruction, and implement word study. Words ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is becoming a great problem solver. Her main problem solving strategy is sounding out. Mesiah
will try and sound out each individual sound out loud and then she will try and pronounce the word as
whole to the best of her ability. She is also beginning to self monitor as she is reading and writing. She
is thinking about what she writing. She will double check to see if what word she is spelling looks
right and sounds right. At times she will refer back to a word at a later time when the correct spelling
may come to her. Mesiah really likes asking for help as well. I love to assist Mesiah because I know
she does not always get the one on one instruction on a regular basis. And I know that is really what
she needs.
Instructional Plan:
Based on my assessments, I have developed the following instructional goals in the areas of reading,
writing, and spelling. Each instruction made is intended to strengthen her skills and strategies and
accelerate Mesiah in these specific areas.
I will focus on Mesiah s strengths. The best way I found to do this is by creating a positive, engaging,
and relatable practice for her in the same type of learning environment.
I will continue to focus on sight words, reading, and spelling. I will do this by administering spelling
inventories found in Words Their Way, informal spelling assessments based off of weekly spelling
words, inventories, and sight words, and spelling checks

The Endangered Species Act (ESA)
Extinction is nothing new to animal and plant species around the earth. Over the course of time on the
earth there have been five mass extinctions, with many predicting that a sixth has already begun due to
human fault. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was designed to save both animal and plant life from
these great feat. The ESA has seen only a 2% recovery rate since it enactment (Why is U.S. Recovery
Rate (2%) for Endangered Species So Low?). Many critics and politicians have been calling for a
reformation of the act for years. The ESA is in need of a change in the following areas funding
distribution, time it takes to list a species on the endangered species list, and habitats on private land.

The recovery rate of those species has been 2% (Why is U.S. Recovery Rate (2%) for Endangered

have been delisted 30 species were delisted due to recovery of the species, 10 species due extinction, 7
species due to taxonomic revisions, and 11 species due to legislative changes. 41% of the species that
have been listed have improved in some way or form during their listing. (Corn Alexander, 2014, p.6)
Over 950 conservations plan have been made, more than 520 critical habitats have been selected, and
the amount of conservation plans that have been put into effect has gone over 1,138. (Primo, 2014,
p.4) As of 2011 the amount of money being spent on protecting endangered species totaled $1.39
billion. $1.34 billion was spent by the federal government and $57.8 million by states. The species
that have the highest expenditures are the Pacific Salmon () at $352.5 million, pallid sturgeon () at
$53.8 million, and bull trout () at $37.7 million. Expenditures include land acquisition, streamside
cleanup, and artificial nest creation. (Corn Alexander, 2014,

Four Tiers When Driving Research Paper
Driving is exciting, you feel like you just want to jump in the car and start accelerating, but that s not
the way to go. If you have ever watched a plane being prepared for taking off, you ll have seen the
crew go through a whole series of safety checks, they can t afford for anything to go wrong, and it s
the same when driving a car. Before driving, one must be certain that the vehicle is in a good condition
before heading out on a road. There are many things to check, but the most important ones are the
tiers, signal indicators and mirrors.
First of all, check all four tiers and make sure they are correctly inflated and that they have at least
1.5mm of tread. Look for The Tread Wear Indicator, if it s exposed, the tire is not legal for

Who Is Bilbo A Hero
Where would we be without heroes in fiction? What would we have left? No Luke Skywalker, Harry
Potter, Superman, Sir Lancelot, or Captain Ahab. Name a work of fiction that does not revolve around
or at least include a hero of some caliber. Ask yourself what stories could we still enjoy without the
greatest characters of literary history. We as people have shown time and time again that nothing can
beat our love for heroes, they have a special place in our hearts rivaled only by their associated
villains. Without them most stories just wouldn t be the same. The Hobbit is a perfect example of the
importance of heroism in literary fiction.
Bilbo Baggins is by no means a typical hero. Heroes are usually portrayed as being tall and handsome.
Bilbo is a halfling, therefore he is short and portly with hairy feet. Heroes are warriors and their
courage is apparent. Bilbo lives in a cozy hole in the ground spending his time blowing smoke rings
and eating more than three meals a day. Heroes are also normally viewed as fearless and good at
fighting, while Bilbo has never used a weapon before the events of The Hobbit, and is afraid of the
very idea of leaving his home of Hobbiton. When you compare Bilbo to someone like Superman the
differences are obvious. They are two very different characters, and yet they are both heroes. Bilbo is
undeniably very unusual when compared to the stereotypical archetype of a hero that I described
earlier. However, those qualifiers that I listed, while

Fox Hall College Essay
Communities are all over the place, multiple people belong to all types of communities. The
community I belong to is the community of Fox Hall. I ve lived in Fox Hall for the whole time I have
been attending the University of Massachusetts Lowell. I have met numerous amounts of people and
made several friends while living in Fox Hall. Fox Hall is a fascinating building because it has
eighteen floors of residence. Fox Hall is the tallest building in Lowell which is very interesting. Since
I have been here, I was curious about all the activities that have been going on in Fox Hall. I chose
Fox Hall as my residence hall because it offers many opportunities to meet new people and make new

Fox Hall is interesting mostly due to the fact that it is the tallest building in Lowell, and it houses so
many undergraduates. Fox Hall is located on East Campus, which is one of the main residential areas
of the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Fox Hall offers three types of room choices, which are
double, triple and quad. I live in a triple with my roommates Christopher and Quinlan. Fox Hall also
has the largest dining hall on campus. The dining hall is on the second floor of the building, so you
don t have to leave the residence hall to go and get food. Fox Hall has three elevators, two of them are
personal elevators, while one is a freight elevator used mostly by construction workers who are
building the fourth elevator on the building. Most people in my community get frustrated about the
construction that s going on at Fox Hall because it is loud and annoying. Another thing that Fox Hall
offers to its residence is the Centers for Learning which is located on the first floor of the building.
Centers for Learning offers students tutoring or help for any issues that they may have. Overall, the
community of Fox Hall is warm and welcoming, other than the people who are exhausted from the
construction which causes an inability to sleep.

Comparing The Immigrant Contribution And A Quilt Of A Country
The two stories, The immigrant Contribution by John F. Kennedy, and A Quilt of a Country by Anna
Quindlen are similar in many ways, but the passages are also very different from each other. Even
though they are both the same type of writing, they both have very different approaches on how to get
across their ideas to the reader. Quindlen who wrote A Quilt of a Country used a formal diction,
whereas John F. Kennedy used a concrete diction in The immigrant Contribution . Kennedy makes it
very clear that every American citizen has either been an immigrant or come from the descendants of
immigrants. Unlike Kennedy, Anna Quindlen talks more about the ethnic groups that make up
America. She also talks about terrorist attacks that happened

Elements Of Critical Thinking
One of the specific feature of critical thinking that I would like to talk about is keep an open mind. I
seem to have a big problem with this one myself. I never keep an open mind when it comes to
thinking because over the years I felt that my way or decision making would be the right one without
the input of others. I have learned the hard way that listening to others turned out to be a good thing
because their insight on things would make others make a better decision for themselves or even
myself. Open mindedness is characterized by being receptive to other views and having the
willingness to change views with new facts and evidence. Open mindedness increases intellectual
capabilities by allowing for new experiences and perspectives. A narrow

John Keats Thomas Keats and Frances Jennings gave birth to John Keats on 31 October 1795 at his

His handling of the theme is, on the contrary, strikingly abstract, which compounds the effect of their
inherent abstraction ( Kelvin Everest ). When I Have Fears That I May Have Ceased To Be is an
example of beauty, love and death as the theme ( Kevin Everest ). Keats uses this sonnet as a frame
upon which is soliloquize, a shape upon which to string his thoughts about death, love, art,
imagination, frame and writing all as a theme says another critic Bruce King ( Bruce King ). Keats
wrote this poem about having fears dying before people could see his poetry work says Bruce King.
When I have fears is a Shakespearean sonnet consisting of three quatrains, each of alternating new
rhymes concluding a couplet. Such as a rhyme scheme of (abab, cdcd, efef) and the couplet (gg)(
Bruce King ). The poem consists of a lot of vowel sound rhymes throughout the poem says critic
Bruce King. Throughout the quatrains of the poem the quatrains are marked by the semicolons after
lines 4 and 8, by the repetition of When I at the start of the first and second quatrain, and by the
repeated phrase And when I at the start of the third quatrain.( Bruce King ) Critic Bruce King says the
vowel rhyme romance / chance in the second quatrain has similarities to brain / grain in the first
quatrain while the nasal n sounds are alike in the poem. Therefore those are vowel

Essay On Critical Reflection
Part one: Critical Reflection on your team as whole
I believe our group has struggled from the very beginning with being organized. I think some of the
difficulties started with the team strategic plan. The team would have benefited more, from an outline
of information that would be presented during the final speech (Adler, Ronald B., et al., 2013). I think
our organization was lacking the first day we met to work on the team strategic plan. We all pushed off
the meeting because we thought we had more time and as the due date approached we quickly met up
to discuss what needed to be in the strategic plan. Then asked everyone to work on it on their own
time. I don t think this was the most beneficial way to divide tasks. We should have spent more time
doing group work, and not assigned as much individual work (Adler, Ronald B., et al., 2013). I think
we should have used part of the designated meeting times to do group work, that would have been the
most beneficial for our group due to all members of the group having so much going on outside of the
project, that the time would have allowed each of us to have a required/designated time to work on the
project. Allowing for us to get more done, earlier on. I think the anticipation of some members to get
the team strategic plan done also caused them to take on too much responsibility which affected their
stress level and in return affect their quality of work. Also causing us to get a lower grade due to other

Stealing Carol Ann Duffy Essay
In the poem Stealing by Carol Ann Duffy the speaker attempts to steal the intangible emotions of
others. The speaker does not steal for material gain, rather for emotional gain. The speaker is
ambiguous, (henceforth referred to as he ) and appears to be answering a question. In this dramatic
monologue Duffy explores violent and self destructive behavior in order to impart the speaker s
desolate attitude towards life.
Duffy uses abrupt, and violent language to communicate the discord in the speaker s life. my breath
ripped / out in rags (18 19) is a violent statement that is disjointed through enjambment; this technique
of ripping apart the sentences to different lines adds to the feeling of discontinuity in the speakers life.
This sense of discontinuity gives the reader a feeling of discontent. The self destructive tone is mixed
with a sneering attitude to create the impression of being an outcast. The Speaker seems to be ... Show

Psychopaths lack the ability to truly feel for others. He is an individualist, which is a common theme
of the Margaret Thatcher era. The speaker has an entitled outlook on life, Sometimes I steal things I
don t need. I joy ride cars / to nowhere, break into houses just to have a look (11 12). He is bored and
steals for fun, it s a way to entertain himself. Perhaps he is a genius and is looking for an outlet to
combat boredom (21). When his attempts to feel fail he turns vicious, I took a run / and booted him.
Again. Again. (17 18). Violent tendencies are another symptom of psychopaths. I wanted him, a mate /
with a mind as cold as the slice of ice / within my own brain. (3 4). One interpretation of this line is
that Carol Ann Duffy is conveying the idea that his mind is frozen or not moving, stationary in its
ideas. Another approach to this line is that the slice of ice is a metaphor for a common way of
describing a psychopath as ice cold, hard or

Lighthouse s Distinctive Capabilities Are Trustworthiness...
Lighthouse s distinctive capabilities are trustworthiness and service. Our advisors love to educate their

advisors make key decisions as a group. For example, in January we left our former broker dealer and

of repapering all accounts. The CEO of Lighthouse is also the principal advisor of the firm. He values

Stage four organizations have to smooth over any remaining barriers to becoming an analytical
competitor. For instance, it could be a matter of changing the culture, ensuring decisions from upper
management are being followed through on lower levels. In order to transition to the next stage, the
company needs to strategize and focus on one or two traits that lead to an advantage. Stage five
organizations have all the components necessary to be considered an analytical competitor. The
company is exploring new metrics, examining their processes and looking for ways to improve. The
company has the data, technologies, and staff to remain competitive and profitable. In order for
Lighthouse to move through the final two stages there would need to be significant resources devoted
to increasing data available, purchasing software, and implementing ongoing analytics projects and
future planning.
How does your company create competitive advantage with analytics? Analytics is using data,
performing analyses and adjusting business processes and goals with that information (Davenport and
Harris, 2007). Unfortunately, Lighthouse is not creating a competitive advantage with analytics at this
time. The data is not available and the emphasis on analytics is not present.
How does your company compete internally on analytics? Lighthouse is not competently competing
internally on analytics. There are no shareholders, thus the only reporting that is done is

Arguments Against Standardized Testing
Stressful standardized testing turns many classrooms into training centers instead of offering an
engaging, well rounded, preparatory environment. Long lectures and teachers preaching causes
students to grow bored and dose off ultimately dropping test scores. Students feel like they are nothing
more than their test scores, and feel a sense of not knowing who they are. These standardized tests also
lead to anxiety and depression in students, and can lead to students feeling like dropping out is the
only option. No, standardized testing should not be eliminated completely, but rather be evaluated by
universities as well as things such as volunteer hours, extracurricular activities, and grades. The
Essential of a Good Education, written by Diane Ravitch, states this very clearly. In this aricle: she
critizues the education system in America today. Standardized tests are frequently used to asses a
student s academic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of students studying for tests all year long, students just cram for the test when the date is near.
According to eCampusTours, Standardized testing impedes the assessment of a very important skill.
For the most part, standardized tests hinder any sort of creative and out of the box thinking, which is a
skill needed in college and the workplace. Standardized teststing makes it so that instead of creative
learning druing school, students just learn the information that is going to be presrnted on the test and
nothing more. Having a positive enviorment for studnents to express themselves and their creativity
helps them prepare for the future. In the article The Essentials to a Good Education, Ravitch writes
that, They[schools] should broaden their knowledge of the world so that they recognize that other
people think differently; by doing so, they may abandon narrow provincialism and get a clearer

The Ethics Of Eating Meat
Since the time of caveman to the modern day society, humans have always eaten meat as a part of
daily life, As far back as it can be traced...Our ancestry is among the hunter/gatherers from the
beginning. Once domestication of food sources began, it included both animals and plants (McArdle).
Although these modern times that we live in have created new substances and ways to replace the
natural way to eat meat, people will always have reason to go back to the original way to get the basic
nutrition of meat. Human beings should support the basic idea that eating meat is ethical because
human bodies were created to be omnivore, people have evolved to manipulate animals in an
intelligent manner, and there are several alternative and ethical ways of eating meat.
The traits that the human body consist of are meant for more natural foods to be ingested, which are
both both meats and vegetables, making humans omnivores. The teeth and digestive tract that
individuals were provided with are meant to break down animal and plant based foods to provide
nutrients to the rest of the body to keep it running (McArdle). People were meant to eat meat in the
first place, it cannot be considered unethical, because it is a part of the natural way of life. For
example, when a lion hunts its prey to provide dinner for its cub and mate, it is not considered
unethical, it is a part of the lion s daily life. The lion going after the prey as a source of food is its way
of survival, and is not

  • 3. The Apology Of Socrates The Apology of Socrates is a Plato s version of speeches given by Socrates who was accused for two main reasons: the corruption of the youth and impiety (not believing in gods in whom the city believes). In the Apology Socrates tries to defend himself and his actions but not to apologize for it. He insisted that he must be wiser than others because he knows and recognizes that knows nothing. The Apology by Plato shows that there is a great influence of Socrates in searching for the truth about humanity and society even when his attempt contradicted with the opinions of the many . Socrates tells them that he will speak the truth, and pleads the judges to think of the justice of his cause but not minding the style of his speech. In making his defense, Socrates will reply to two kinds of accusations. At first, he refers to the older charges and his first accusers, and secondly he replies to the accusations made by Meletus, Anytus, and Lycon. He was afraid of the older accusers most of all and the reason behind this dread was that his accusers were many and he couldn t call them all by name. These accusers falsely claims can be summed up in the following words: Socrates is an evil doer, and a curious person, who searches into things under the earth and in heaven, and he makes the worse appear the better cause; and he teaches the aforesaid doctrines to others. He responses to these falsehoods by arguing that he has nothing to do with the physical sciences nor is he paid for giving instruction he has nothing to teach. He then goes on to explain how he gained such a bad reputation. The impetuous Chaerephon had gone to Delphi and asked the oracle if there was any man wiser than Socrates; and the answer was, that there was no man wiser. After a long consideration Socrates thinks of a method of trying a question. He goes to one who had the reputation of wisdom and selects a politician for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. A Brief Note On Safeguarding And Protect Children information that they have stored. It is important that this information is only used to safeguard and protect children. If a parent would like to know any of the information stored about their child they have a right to access this, as well as their own educational records. If the information stored may cause harm or put risk to the child, then this information can be refused. It is vital that every setting complies with the Data Protection Act. It is the professional adults responsibility to ensure that children and young people are aware of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. Question 2b (Weighting: 0) An explanation of the importance of a child or young person centred approach. It is critical that a person centred approach is always used with issues regarding safeguarding. The most important aspect is ensuring that you listen to the child to gain all the relevant information that will allow you to understand their needs. Where appropriate children should be involved in any meetings that discuss them where you respect what they have to say and ask for their opinions. Children and young people should be able to trust you so that they feel comfortable talking to you about any issues. If a child trusts you, they are more likely to confide in you and express their feelings therefore any actions that need to take place are more likely to happen at a much greater pace. It will allow any authorities or organisations involved to gain vital information and therefore reach a more suitable solution. If a child centred approach is not followed, then major information could be missed. An example of this is when a little by; Daniel Pelka was murdered by his mother and her partner. • 6. The Approaches Of Various Architects And Urban Planners... Humanity has always been dictated by its cities, these congregations of people seemingly organically creating the systems for how we live. However towards the end of the 19th century a new monolith started to plague skylines across the developed world, changing the shape of cities forever. Skyscrapers were indicative of a turning point in western civilisation, what was originally planned to be a great leveller of society, allowing for cheaper land prices in city areas, soon became a vestige of the rich and powerful. I suggest that despite the evident need for this element of verticality, and its success for select groups of society changes will need to be made to our attitudes towards it within city planning if growth is to be fair, ... While it s impossible to predict how society would have developed without coming together in this way, it is clear that cities are a vital catalyst for change. (https://monoskop.org/images/5/5a/Mumford_Lewis_The_Culture_of_Cities.pdf) As well as understanding why we need cities, we must also analyse how they have developed in the past if we are to theorise about their futures. However they have always developed in differing ways, each is a product of its time, depending on the economic and social conditions of the period. While this may make it seem more confusing to understand the development of individual cities, it provides a broader explanation of what makes them so successful as a whole, they respond to the needs of the day rather than follow any certain formula. It started out like any other day, but I was wired from the second I woke up, hoping this day would be one to remember. I set my alarm earlier than normal that morning so that I could relax in a hot shower. My sisters beat me to the punch, however, and my shower, per usual, was frigid. I hoped it wasn t an omen for how my day would proceed, but my watering taste buds suggested otherwise. My heart was beating faster than it ever had. We won! was the only thing I could seem to get out of my mouth. My teammates started chanting my name. The most crucial hour of my day was coming to an end, but before we could go home our coaches made us all come into a huddle. The smell of sweaty boys, the roar of the crowd, and the sweet taste of victory which tasted suspiciously like super chocolatey brownies was all I could bring in. • 9. Persuasive Essay On The 14th Amendment The Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States is perhaps the most sweeping and has likely impacted the general jurisprudence of the Supreme Court the most of any other amendment. This is because, where all other right protecting amendments protect something specific, the fourteenth amendment was designed to ensure that states guaranteed due process rights, applied the law equally, and protected the privileges [and] immunities of citizens of the United States. Because of this language, the Fourteenth Amendment appears to be and to some extent is simply the application of the Fifth Amendment, and through selective incorporation, the rest of the Bill of Rights. To that end, the Fourteenth Amendment possesses a fortuitous expansion to the simple due process right: the right to equal protection of the laws. Laws that appear to violate the Equal Protection Clause thusly receive the same kind of scrutiny that other fundamental rights are given. The Fourteenth Amendment is relatively new compared to the Bill of Rights, having been passed in 1868. The first major case that dealt with the amendment were the Slaughterhouse Cases in 1872. In those cases, a group of slaughterhouses that were put out of business by a Louisiana law creating a monopoly claimed that they were denied equal protection under the law. Though the court ultimately denied their claim primarily on the basis that the Privileges and Immunities Clause does not apply to the states, they also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dance Team Performance I have traveled to other countries, competed alongside professionals, performed in front of thousands but what I have gained the most from was a journey that came to a loss. In 2013, my dance team was invited to a national competition in New York City. Everyday I attended workshops surrounded by talent of all ages. I invested my sweat and tears at studios my idols rehearsed at. Coming back from a major injury, I knew I had to work harder than everyone else and persevere. Pain was not going to stop me. • 11. A Short Note On Severe Water Pollution On The San... Kicker: Severe water pollution that exists in far away countries, could happen right here in the San Francisco bay and its effects would be devastating. Recall the last time you drove across the Golden Gate Bridge; looking to the sea and seeing the whitecaps break against the rocks, and then looking at the bay and seeing the shimmering aqua colored water filled with sailboats. But now, try and imagine a very different picture, you look towards the bay and see oil slicks, floating tires, and islands of trash as the smell of rotting fish, gasoline and sewage fill your nose. This may sound strange and fictional, but the truth is it isn t far from possible. In fact, some of the these pollutants are flowing into the San Francisco bay already. Imagine living next to a place like this, how would that make you feel? More importantly, what are the physical health effects as a result of these pollutants? In the following article, we will explore how something like this is possible (if not probable), and what effects it could have on the health of the Bay Area. Firstly, we jump to a place far away from San Fransisco, about 7 thousand miles away to be exact Brazil; a country suffering from a variety of problems, including a devastating drought, and massive amounts of water pollution. The bay of Rio de Janeiro (Guanabara Bay), was once a recreational gem that was swam through, canoed, and enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. More importantly, its rich, diversified ecosystem, ... • 14. My Search For Going To College What do you mean I cannot live with my parents for the rest of my life? So you mean to tell me that I actually have to become an adult? . These have been the thoughts plaguing my mind for the past four years and now that my time is up, I get to do something about them. My main problem with going to college is being away from my home, my family, and my friends. I knew that if I were to pick the wrong college, I would be running back to my mom in a weeks time. Finding the right college is a universal challenge for every upcoming college student, but when I found Baylor University I knew it was my new home. My hunt for the perfect college started my freshmen year of high school. During that time in my life, I felt there was a big weight on my shoulders to be successful in life. Since picking the right college is a big part of being successful, I was feeling overwhelmed. There are about 1,400 colleges in the United States and I had to narrow that down to a top five, frantic was an understatement about how I was feeling. Taking a step back to look at the big picture, I decided to evaluate what I was looking for in a college; I came up with the following list: have my desired major (Astrophysics), be far away from home (but not too far), and to live in a big city. Applying my new set of criteria, I now only had 3 colleges to choose from: University of Texas at Austin, Rice University, and Baylor University. I gave my contact information to each of them and in time I had a scheduled visit to Baylor University. When I arrived on the Baylor campus I immediately felt at home. I had the honor of attending the Baylor Premier, which acts like a huge campus tour for everyone that attends the seminar. Everybody was so genuinely nice and enthusiastic about me being there, I got the feeling that was where I belonged. I could see myself walking the campus with my newly found friends on the way to our The Atomic Theory 101 class. Although I have a tendency of letting my head float in the sky, I had to snap myself out of my dreamland and back into reality to remember that I still had two other options for my perfect college. Patience shows through the texts The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, The People Could Fly by Virginia Hamilton, and Invictus by William Earnest Henly. Patience is key. As long as you can be patient, you can get through any situation. The first example of patience is Mr. Frank from The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. The Diary of Anne Frank tells a story about a young girl with a diary living in an Annex, trying to hide from Nazis so she doesn t have to go to forced labor and death camps. I chose this quote because Toby tells them if they can be patient long enough they will get their chance to get away. The others will wait and eventually get away, which shows patience. Finally the last example of patience is Invictus by William Earnest Henley. Invictus tells a story about a man determined never to change his will or his fate. On line 11, he says, and yet the menace of the years. Menace means to be threatened, so over the years he must have been threatened a lot. There is a huge amount of media users around the world which means the number of audiences is large. As generally acknowledged, nowadays, the spread of news, entertainment has a rapid speed through the media and mass communication. The public opinions and thoughts can be easily affected by the spread of media, also, mass communication of the news media may provide some bias and prejudice of the news. In general, agenda setting describes the effects of the media on the general public, the ability to choose important issues (Moon 2011, p.699). The sense of agenda setting has been deeply accepted by the public a long time ago. In 1992, Walter Lippmann (1992), a newspaper columnist, argued that the mass media has the ability to produce images of events that can be present to the public. Since 1948, Lazarsfeld and Metton (1948) acknowledged that the function of the press to give specific status upon events it emphasizes. Maybe it is because when the family moved there, Robby had freedom. He ran into the wrong crowd that seem to grasp his attention. Homewood was where Robby met his best friend, Garth. Name a work of fiction that does not revolve around or at least include a hero of some caliber. Ask yourself what stories could we still enjoy without the greatest characters of literary history. We as people have shown time and time again that nothing can beat our love for heroes, they have a special place in our hearts rivaled only by their associated villains. Without them most stories just wouldn t be the same. The Hobbit is a perfect example of the importance of heroism in literary fiction. Bilbo Baggins is by no means a typical hero. Bilbo lives in a cozy hole in the ground spending his time blowing smoke rings and eating more than three meals a day.
