Short Essay On Robots
Robots used to be a futuristic fantasy seen on television, and in movies. Today though, robots are
becoming more prevalent in our daily lives. They are generally defined as machines that automatically
perform tasks with precision. A lot of robots include a computer that controls its actions
autonomously, others have a human controller, and occasionally it is a combination. As technology
advances, the use of robots is rapidly growing. Their use in the workplace increases efficiency, and
increases safety because they can do dangerous jobs humans would not normally do. From the first
robots used in manufacturing in the 1950s to now, their technology has advanced to being used in an
incredible number of fields in the present. In the future robots will create great advancements in the
fields of medicine, farming, military, science, and our daily lives.
To understand how robotics are and will be used in our daily lives it is important to know how robots
work. The most basic parts of robots are the physical frame, a motor, a sensor system, the power
supply, and a computer, that controls the robot. Most robots have movable joints, or wheels which are
controlled by an actuator, a mechanism that controls equipment (Gibilisco 1994). Lots of robots, for
example the common robotic arm, use individual step motors, which are motors that move in exact
increments, allowing for precise movements. Some robots are able to move on their own, relying on
response to outside stimuli. These robots

Repo 105 Auditing
The summary provided details surrounding the Lehman Brothers executives and the development of
the Repo 105 transactions utilized to improve the financial statement results, however, more
information is needed involving the auditing firm Ernst Young (E Y). William Schlich, the lead
auditor, was intimately involved in the accounting and auditing acceptance of the Repo 105 process
and his obstinacy with the bankruptcy examiner sheds negative light on E Y. Schlich s
unreasonableness and obstructing the examiner from performing his duties only shows how E Y was
intimately involved, especially when these transactions were not noted in previous audits. Overall, the

They are not legally bound to investigate; however, it only makes sense to investigate to ensure there
is no impropriety. This report helps the auditors to dig deeper into the information concerning the
Repo 105 transactions.
8.) E Y is a defendant in Lehman related lawsuits filed in both state and federal courts. Identify the
factors that influence E Y s legal exposure between lawsuits filed in state courts versus those filed in
federal courts. Lehman Brothers executives and E Y auditors are liable for the federal and state suits
filed depending on the materiality of their involvement. For instance, Ong Yeung (2011) says,
...regardless of whether technical compliance was achieved, a colourable claim existed regarding
Lehman s failure to disclose its Repo 105/108 practice that rendered the firm s financial statements
materially misleading (p. 101). Another factor identified, Ong Yeung (2011) notes, ...colourable claims
against the officers and directors of Lehman in connection with their failure to disclose the use of the
practice and against its auditors for their failure to meet professional standards in connection with that
lack of disclosure (p. 101). Criminal and civil (federal and state for both) charges can be brought
against Lehman and E Y. Jeffers states, If Lehman s CEO and CFO knew of the Repo 105 transactions

Censorship Is Monitoring Or Withholding Information Essay
Censorship is monitoring or withholding information. The information can come from a book, drama,
media, or any other form of entertainment; but it is usually considered a threat to the consumer. Yet the
consumer is not always the audience. Sometimes the threat is to a politician or government official.
The debate over topics in the realm of what is acceptable and what should be banned only continues to
rise as more taboo topics become acceptable. Some argue that keeping certain things behind closed
doors is imperative for a harmonious living place. Others say that a small discourse is critical to
remain sane. Censorship is a way of protecting society from itself. Leaders and parental figures can
make the choice to monitor what is read, watched, and consumed, but until the world lives the life
worthy of a children s book the effort is futile. While the narrative being taught may be inappropriate
or harsher it doesn t decrease the value of it.
Arguments are shown throughout everyday life over every topic. The question isn t, When will society
stop fighting the norm? The question is, When will society stop fighting change? The world evolves
with every second. With that evolution society blurs the line with what is acceptable and not. Sixty
years ago the idea of two boys kissing was the equivalent of burning a baby in church on a Sunday
morning. Today, two men kissing is celebrated with its own parade. Social norms and ideals have been
ripping down the cloak of

The Plague In Oran
The plague that is discussed in the book can consume anybody. As Rieux says, the plague was a
sentencing to an unknown crime (100). If nobody knew why they were being punished, anybody could
be. Discrimination is something that, if you are discriminated against you have no control over it. The
plague is a symbol for the interment of the Jews under Hitler s reign. The plague was a disease that
took away the lives of the people of Oran. It is the same way that Hitler took the lives away from
many innocent Jewish people in Germany. Nobody is ever free from the plague, not even today. The
fact that the plague in Oran represents the horrible events that occurred in Germany at the time of the
second World War, could mean that the ideas within the

Big Band Experience
As a student who makes it their goal to involve himself in every musical activity, I have had the
privilege to play music in large groups like a marching band, big band, and orchestra, in addition to
small groups like a jam band and a traditional gypsy jazz band. I ve participated in competitions at
tens of schools, auditioned into region bands, and played big band charts on the steps of the Navy
Memorial. With that being considered the group that had the most profound effect on me is a student
run Jazz combo, a small group of around eight high school musicians who played jazz standards at
smaller high class events. My four years in this group contain some of my most significant
experiences of my high school career. These experiences were what changed a nervous and absent
minded freshman into the confident student leader that I act as today.
Only looking at the combo as a music performance group would do a disservice to fully understanding
what is actually a four year experience. The band was a place to learn, a place to show off talent, a
place to make friends, and a place to tell stories. The group has always been student dependent;

particularly the need for individuals to share and pool experiences so lessons don t need to be learned
twice. Some things just can t be written in a packet and memorized, whether it be how to recover from
a mistake or how to manage homework and a social life. It was a strange experience leaning over to
the new drummer earlier this year during a gig and explaining the song Killer Joe. Stay relaxed, don t
rush it, and follow my lead. Watch me if you get lost. This was a strange experience because I was

The Role of Religion in American Politics
The Role of Religion om American Politics
As the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution stipulates, Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . This regulation represents one of
the most important principles upon which the American democracy is built: the separation of church
and state. Rhys H. Williams and N. J. Demerath III, the authors of the article Religion and Political
Process in an American City , however, raise the question that if our national political history is bulit
on a religious based morality if we are a nation with the soul of a church then why should government

Evidence has been found of a shift among a wider group of mainline Protestants away from the
Republicans towards the Democratic Party. As far as the reason for this mobility is considered, the
Civil Rights Movement is sure to have contributed to it with its calls for social reforms. Consequently,
the more liberal Protestants became more attracted to the Democrats, while the more conservative
ones remained in or joined the Republicans. Regarding the Catholics, a considerable percentage of
them is of Latin American origin. The Catholic citizens, many of them deeply religious, belong to the
lower social classes, although some of them have become more affluent recently. Those who has
moved up on the social ladder, are more likely to make inroads into the Republican Party, since they
no longer strive for social reforms.
Relating this religious and ethnical affiliation to civic participation, it is remarkable to note that the
extent to which someone is involved in civic life may be dependent on whether they have acquired the
civic skills through their assiciational memberships and, in particular, from their experience in church.
It is even held that it is only religious institutions that play a major role in providing opportunities to
be educated for politically active citizenship for those who would otherwise be resource poor (such as
the Spanish speaking immigrants from Latin America). Accepting this assumption means it is

Frontier War Research Paper
The frontier wars in Australia (1788 1934) were considered as a series of a conflict waged between the
European settlers and the Indigenous Australians which lasted for a span of 146 years. However, the
British colonisation in various locations of Australia has created the population of Aborigines in
jeopardy by capturing their land and heritage. As a result of the violent massacre, the indigenous

Analysis of Michael Moore’s Treatment of His Subject...
Analysis of Michael Moore s Treatment of His Subject Matter within the Documentaries Bowling for
Columbine and Fahrenheit 911
A documentary may be as a film or television or radio programme that provides factual information
about a subject. Typically, a documentary is a journalistic record of events presented on screen.
The main conventions of documentaries tend to be that the documentary has voice over commentary;
the main focus is on the issues rather than relationships between characters, they also build up the
setting so the viewer can build up a context.
Documentaries do not leave on cliff hangers, they usually end with a conclusion or final interpretation
to provoke thought on the issue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Editing can cause a bias to a subject matter; therefore the objectivity of a documentary may be lost.
An example of this is Michael Moore s apparent dislike of George Bush s administration and his
particular disgruntlement at the US for its invasion of Iraq. Winston says The line between
documentary and fiction is tenuous. Both are create by edititing and selection. Both, willingly, or
unwillingly, embody a viewpoint.

are around the same age and have grown up together, Hassan constantly despised by members of
society as they believe he is a member of a lower chaste as a result he is constantly picked on by the

consequence but Aamir chooses to turn his back on hassen instead of fighting for him. throughout the
text we are shown either Aamir trying to make a decision only to be influenced by society and as it
turns out Aamir s father too faces the same conflict, at first Aamir s talks about friendship he mentions
that father that while ali and his father have grown up together and have been companions since
childhood his father never mentions ali as a friend But in none of his stories did Baba ever refer to Ali
as his friend. This is as a result of society where people don t accept people of a lower class to have
any relationship with their master other than surviving providing service. This is repeated later when
Aamir admits that he too has never regarded hassen as a friend either although they do almost
everything together . This shows the impact of society on Aamir and his father as both are too afraid

The Importance Of Natural Resources
In today s fast pace society, we often do not pay much attention to the amount of natural resources we
are consuming, and the limited supply of these resources that we will have in the future. The depletion
of natural resources is the consumption of a resource faster than it can be replenished. All human
beings depend on these natural resources for our basic needs. People often take for granted the
abundance of natural resources we have as of now, and use them at an unsustainable rate, putting
many of these resources on the verge of becoming depleted. It is reported that humans are using 30%
more resources than the Earth can replenish each year, thus leading to deforestation, degraded soils
and land, and polluted air and water. Our current world population is 7.2 billion and growing at a rapid
rate of about 1.14% per year, however the earth s natural resources are only sustainable for 2 billion at
the current demand. As populations grow, consumption increases at a faster rate than technology can
find new ways to produce natural resources, and the problem gradually gets worse. At the way humans
are living, we are using 2 3 times more of the earth s natural resources than what is sustainable. Our
ecological footprint is 1 ½ times the earth s ability to provide the resources needed to meet this level
of consumption. When humans need employment, food, or ways to raise their standard of living, they
often look to practices such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels as easy

Tuberculosis Vaccination Research
The decision to vaccinate or to not vaccinate a child against a particular disease is a modern
controversial subject. When in regard to the tuberculosis vaccination, parents in the United States
should vaccinate their children. Tuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that
most commonly affects the lungs. The etiologic agent can be expelled from one infected person via a
sneeze or a cough, and enter the air and then the body of another person, leading to another infected
person ( Tuberculosis, 2012). According to What is TB? (n.d.), someone who has diagnosed
tuberculosis but is not receiving any form of treatment can pass the disease to up to 15 people in on
year. Treatment of TB is necessary, so if symptoms are ignored, an infected person could die.
Prevalence of this disease is not as common in the United States as it is in other countries. In 2014,
there were approximately 9,421 reported cases; trends show that TB prevalence continues to decreases
each year. Of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since 1921, this vaccination had been used in prevention of TB infections and in present day is the

BCG is not very high, as there is still close to 9 million people every year globally being infected by
tuberculosis. The vaccination has about an 80% effectiveness in prevention of tuberculosis for 15
years, but as people get older, BCG seems to be decreasingly effective. One of the more crucial
prevention techniques for avoiding tuberculosis is simply by having a healthy and non compromised
immune system. Adults who are considered to have a healthy immune system are automatically at an
advantage; their immune systems will most likely be able to kill Mycobacterium tuberculosis on its
own. About 6/10 of all adults will have immune systems that are powerful enough to do so ( What is

Materialistic Items In The Great Gatsby
Materialistic possessions became the center of popularity in the 1920 s, life became all about who
could get the most Women and throw the biggest party. These materialistic items were used to acquire
other non materialistic things such as love and social status. These goals were often unattainable,
specifically for three characters in F. Scott Fitzgerald s , The Great Gatsby. Love and social status
were the unattainable dreams of Myrtle, the status driven cheater; Wilson, the shooter; and Gatsby; the
Daisy craving self made millionaire. Myrtle Wilson married George Wilson because she thought he

Personal Views On Philosophy And Philosophy
Eight weeks ago, I was one who internally had developed specific views of my individuality and what
it meant to be human through personal life experiences. I never put much thought into ideology or
views that have shaped our world into what it is today. This class, not only through readings and
interactions has enlightened me into being a more rounded human being. It has added an intellectual
viewpoint that has changed my way of thinking throughout daily life interactions. I am humbled to
admit exactly how naïve my personal viewpoints have set me back. I would like to interject on this
feeling, that I am also proud of the fact, I was able to find value and substance in some of my personal
viewpoints and the way I approach opinions through rational and logic. Philosophy is a powerful and
life altering academia, challenging the mind, and creating substance of life, defining what it means
intuitively to each, specifically between law and morality or how we shall view right from wrong.
First, when I examine Aristotle, and formed distinctions between practical knowledge and theoretical
knowledge, based on what eudaimonia means to me, it was very confusing. I realized that happiness
brought about different feelings and moral convictions not only from me but unexpected viewpoints
from others. Memory finds its meaning, in large part, through key concepts with which it is paired and
from which it is distinguished (J. Blustein 178). It has brought about unanswered questions that still

The External Factors Of Graphic Design And The Definition...
The following sections highlights some of the relevant literature, specifically about the history of
graphic design, the definition of graphic design and the external factors affecting a graphic designer s

definition of graphic design developed by Jessica Helfand or Cezzar, the book named How to be a
graphic designer, without losing your soul ? by Shaughnessy (2008), Do good design: how designers
can change the world by David B.Berman, The production manual: a graphic design handbook by

Definition of Graphic Design Graphic design is well known as visual communication where there is a
combination of the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and
textual content. The production encompasses identity, publication, advertisements, website graphics
and product packaging (Cezzar, n.d.). According to Jessica Helfand, an American designer, author and
educator, had a definition about graphic design as the following:
Graphic design is a visual language uniting harmony and balance, color and light, scale and tension,
form and content. But it is also an idiomatic language, a language of cues and puns and symbols and
allusions, of cultural references and perceptual inferences and that challenge both the intellect and the
eye (Helfand, cited in Shaughnessy, 2008) In other words, it could be said that graphic design helps to
form the unique identity of specific subjects. From Helfand s perspective, graphic design is not only
aesthetic and communicative territory, but also a language in visual and idiomatic that graphic
designers are required to learn through education and experience. ii. What does a graphic designer do

Organizational Culture and National Culture in...
Abstract
Multinational organizations are combinations of multicultural employees. Multicultural environments
cause cultural shock among leaderships and employees. Organizational culture and national culture
are significantly important in current marketing environment. Organizational culture mainly shows the
value and the roles inside the organization. However, national culture is the directing of organizational
culture and influence both leadership and employees deeply from their personal values. Furthermore,
the relationship between organizational culture and national culture has impacts on leaderships,
employees, job satisfaction as well as the commitment of employees to the organizations. This essay

For instance, Wallach (1983) viewes three perspectives of organizational culture, that is, innovative,
supportive and bureaucratic. Martin (1992) identified three forms of organizational culture, including
fragmentation, differentiation and integration. Goffee and Jones (1998) define four types of
organizational cultures, which is communal, fragmented, mercenary and networked. However, in a
company, individuals have personal values and beliefs as well as personal desires. On that account, the
attitude of employees and commitment to the companies may result in diversity of achievements.
National cultures also have some effects on the values, beliefs and personal desires. A variety of
countries have multifarious national cultures, giving rise to a culture shock in multinational
companies. Cross cultural research shows that significant differences exist in national culture
characteristic between western and eastern cultures (Hofstede, 1980, 1991; El Kahal, 2001; Chen,
2001). For instance, it is widely known that bureaucratic traditional deep rooted culture and high
power distance exist in Chinese companies (Pye, 1985; Chen, 2001). The management of firms in the
west and east makes a world of difference. The reason for that is the distinction between the impact of
national culture on individual worth and how individual worth adapts to the organizational culture.
Furthermore, after organizations in Hong Kong are mostly in power by ethnic Chinese, the Chinese

Speech On Circus Animals
A tiger jumping through a ring of fire. An elephant standing on his head. Classic circus animal tricks.
The sea of laughing children shriek with delight as each animal performs more and more astounding
acts. What if I told you that Nala the tiger is starved, beaten, tortured into submission? What if I told
you that every night, Freddy the elephant is chained in a metal cage, his sanity slipping into the
darkness? Would you be laughing then?
Good morning parents and teachers and welcome to the 2017 School Ethics Forum. Today I will focus
on two compelling ethical reason why the horrific treatment of animals in circuses is morally
repulsive. One, circus animals suffer fatal injuries during training. Two, the unnatural restrictions of
circus life have a devastating impact on the animals mental health.
Firstly, the fatal injuries inflicted on animals in circuses is a direct violation of the ethical principle of
harm. Starvation, whips, muzzles, bull hooks, electric pods. These torture devices favoured by circus
animal trainers inflict pain and instill terror in innocent animals until they unquestioningly obey every
single command. Simple and effective, and cruel, evil and sadistic. How can a trainer listen to
harrowing screams of excruciating pain and continue to whip the animal again and again? What kind
of heartless monster can watch the soul, the very life drain from a living being and not stop? At every

effects of discrimination. In Ragtime, Coalhouse Walker stands as a symbol and an advocate for the
black people that want to go against the stereotypes that white people make about them. The world has
changed vastly since the 19th century especially in the matter of racism. Coalhouse Walker was a
professional looking black man who found love with a young woman named Sarah. Walker was not
the typical African American and it was very noticeable. Starting from when Walker got out of a new
Model T Ford(155) and continuing to his attire and tone of voice, Walker was in every way different

It was above an average book to read and was not one of the best one s I have read due to some
reasons. The foremost reason for my dislike was that this book was just an illustration about Lynch s
experiences and all about how meditating helped him which might be disappointing for the readers
like me because this book can be seen as completely lacking the dramatic tension that readers like me
expects from a book. Secondly, I felt that the information provided in this book was fragmented and
not very well structured and it seems that author was free to write his experiences into bits and pieces
without putting any extra efforts towards character development, story arcs and plotting. If you are not
a fan of David Lynch and are not known to his works you will be really disappointed. On the other
hand, if you are a great fan of Lynch it is a great book to read for you because every fan desires to
know more about his role model s inspiration, how he develop ideas, what are the pushing factors for
his works and this book contains it all. It contains everything from Lynch s experiences to his
inspirations and push factors for his creative thinking. It is a great book for the ones who want to
understand Lynch more deeply. The reason for my liking towards this book was some of the quotes
and phrases which I discussed above in the review which were really eye opening and motivating for

Essay on The Tragic Hero of Antigone
Everyone agrees that Oedipus is the quintessential Greek tragic hero. In fact, Aristotle had Oedipus
specifically in mind when he first set down the requirements for tragedy in his Poetics. However, in
other Greek tragedies, the tragic hero isn t always so easy to identify. For example, in the play
Antigone, the reader may have some difficulty deciding who the tragic hero is. Nevertheless, a careful
examination of the facts reveals that Antigone is the true tragic heroine because she s brave, flawed,
and noble.
Antigone is a tragic hero because she is brave. One instance where Antigone shows bravery is when
she is talking to Antigone about attempting to give her brother, Polynices, a proper burial, When I

Antigone proves that she is a tragic hero because she is flawed in the fact that she has too much pride.
One moment that displays that Antigone possesses too much pride, is when Ismene reminds her about
the severe punishments that could result from giving Polynices a proper burial, He has no right to keep
me from my own (128). This quote shows that Antigone is willing to disobey the king, Creon in order
to please herself by giving Polynices a proper burial. Consisting of too much pride is eventually the
cause of her death. A second instant where Antigone is shown to have an exceeding amount of pride is
when she is determined to give Polynices a proper burial is when Ismene has been consistently telling
her that she will not succeed, Go your own way; I will bury my brother! (128). Antigone is telling her
sister, Ismene, that she will bury her brother no matter what, and there is nothing that will stop her
from doing it. A third example of Antigone having too much pride is when she tells Ismene why she
wants to persevere in giving her brother a proper burial, convicted of reverence I shall be content/ to
live beside a brother whom I love (128). Antigone loves Polynices so much that she wants to die for
him, so that she can be buried next to him. This will give her pride if she accomplishes it. Antigone
thinks that the only way this will happen is if she buries him herself, and then gets killed for burying
him. In addition to having a flaw, another that proves

Internet Violence And Cyber Bullying
With the fast growing advancements in technology, people in all age groups, whether young or old, are
hooked on with these emerging technologies. The use of internet is prevalent showing its global
consumption. Social media have been available even to the young population. They are effective
means of communication, socialization, and in collecting and sharing information. However, internet
is becoming unsafe and hostile. They do not just serve its real purpose; instead they become effective
means for bullies to perform offences or harmful activities anonymously (Davison Stein, 2014).
Internet related abuses and cyber bullying has long been a concern of schools and universities, the
government and the whole community. Efforts have been put forward to combat cyber bullying that
includes prevention programs at the community, school, and family levels. Nowadays, it is not strange
to hear or encounter incidences of internet abuses and cyber bullying. Spending too much time,
inappropriate use of the internet and with the introduction of social networks, people became more
vulnerable to any of those internet related abuses and cyber bullying (Australia Counselling, 2013).
Anti bullying programs and services that combat cyber bullying and internet abuses are primarily
designed to control and discourage bullying that may take place both online and offline. Anti bullying
programs are also intended to raise awareness of bullying among children, parents and teachers, to

Essay on The Linux
The Linux was originally founded by Linus Torvalds. In 1991, he was a second year computer science
student in Finland. He sought after an operating system that was similar to the UNIX system, but both
UNIX and the hardware it ran on were excessively expensive. A UNIX version called Minix was
available for free, but it did not reasonably meet his needs as it was simply an operating system for
students, designed primarily as a teaching tool rather than an industry strength operating system. As a
result, Torvalds studied Minix and proceeded to set out to write a new version. After six months of
working to produce the new operating system, Torvalds made very little progress toward the utility of
the system.

In many systems architecture, the kernel is the lowest level of software that interfaces with the
hardware in a computer. In UNIX, users typically have no direct access to it. It is responsible for
interfacing all applications that run in user mode including the physical hardware and allowing
processes to get information from each other.
Linux kernel developers designed kernel modules that could be loaded and unloaded at runtime.
Kernel modules are essential to keeping the kernel functioning with all of the computer s hardware
without consuming all of the available memory. A module generally adds functions based on the users
needs to the base kernel for things like file systems and devices. A kernel is essential for any computer
system to run and operate properly. The Linux kernel is different than OS X and Windows because it
includes drivers at the kernel level, and most other operating systems do not. (Salzman, 2005.)
The Linux operating system has been developed by many intelligent people. Around two percent of
the Linux kernel was actually written by Torvalds himself. Today, the Linux kernel has received
contributions from thousands of developers across the globe. Torvalds remains the definitive authority
on what new codes are incorporated into the Linux kernel. However, Linux distribution modifies the
kernel according to each of their users

Big Data Is Not Without Its Own Problems
Abstract
Five years ago, few people had heard the phrase Big Data. Today, it s hard to go an hour without
seeing it implemented practically in our daily life. The promise of a highly accurate data driven
decision making tool is an attractive lure for any organization in any industry. However, big data is not
without its own problems.
Through this paper, we will attempt to understand what constitutes Big Data . We will explore some of
its sources and discuss some of the barriers faced by organizations looking to benefit from this
phenomenon. We will also examine the various management tools and statistical techniques that can

challenged with today or what we shall be faced with tomorrow.
Big data is sprouting up everywhere and using it appropriately will drive competitive advantage.
Ignoring it will simply put an organization at risk, and cause it to fall behind its competition.

big data itself. Computers, mobile devices, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, and

Traditional Aboriginal Dancing
Traditional Aboriginal Dancing
There were many Indigenous Australian Aboriginals that danced different dances in different ways,
when and where they performed dances varied immensely, as did the way they were taught or the
reasons behind why they danced.
Who performed Aboriginal dances?
Traditional Aboriginal dances are performed by Indigenous Aboriginals from numerous tribal groups
across Australia (Aboriginal Australia Art Culture Centre, n.d.). The technique and approach observed
in performances varies and is tailored to suit the region (NSW Department of Education and
Communities, 2011). The way an Aboriginal person dances really depends on where they came from

communicating their feelings with others.
How did they learn to dance?
Each generation teaches the dance to the most deserving of the next generation which is a great

Inoperable Brain Tumors Research Paper
Is There Treatment for Inoperable Brain Tumors? A person has a 0.55 0.7% chance of developing any
type of brain tumor in their lifetime (Mohammadi and Schroeder 1). A brain tumor is a mass of
abnormal cells located somewhere in the brain. Brain tumors can be caused by many different
disorders including Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). Some tumors caused by this disorder are
inoperable. Inoperable brain tumors can now be treated using new advanced technology.
Technological advances provide new hope for patients who have inoperable brain tumors and TSC.
TSC is a rare genetic disorder that is the source of benign (noncancerous) tumors located in the brain,
heart, kidneys, and other organs (Mayo Clinic Staff). In most cases TSC is diagnosed early in infancy,
but in other cases it is not diagnosed for several years. In certain cases, patients have such mild signs
that the disorder will go undiagnosed. One in six thousand people have been diagnosed with TSC.
Although this is a rare disease, awareness is building and multiple TSC clinics have been built across

mouth or the body of a Hawksbill Turtle, people all around the world may also eat their eggs and sell
the stunning shell of a full grown turtle. Hawksbill turtles are essential to sustain wildlife all around
the world.
The World Wildlife Organization states that, Hawksbills help maintain the health of coral reefs. As
they remove prey such as sponges from the reef s surface, they provide better access for reef fish to
feed. These turtles help take care of the reefs the fish we eat live in, without them fish would probably
not have access to nearly as much food and would be eaten by prey on the surface of the reef. Sea life
getting stuck in fishing nets has been a problem in the past, so minimizing that too would be ideal.

This is a very serious problem that needs to be stopped as soon as possible. As reported by
Greenpeace, Nearly half of all ocean pollution comes from activities that take place on land, like
sewage, industrial and agricultural runoff, garbage dumping, and chemical spills. Another third comes
from airborne pollutants, such as sulfur dioxide and mercury from coal burning power plants. . This
means that you don t have to live near the ocean to be part of the problem, but you also don t have to
live near the ocean to be part of the solution. You can help by doing some very simple things, such as
picking up trash and recycling. You can also donate to organizations that help to clean the ocean, such

Pride And Prejudice Predicting The Future Of Women Essay
Myracle Tyson
Ms. Faris
Honors English IV
29 May 2015
Pride and Prejudice: Predicting the future of the Modern Woman. Women are complex and difficult
beings that may, or may not, be meant to be fully understood by the brain of their male counterparts.
In terms of independence women rightfully deserve their own apart from men, needing the privacy to
freely think and judge things on their own. An overbearing male can destroy the female thoughts with
the influence of their own independent thoughts. Women were made different, but not as different,
from men for a purpose although people have differentiating reasons of their own opinions. Although
women were not always bold enough to speak or even think about how they deserved independence
and privacy from men, the notion was always there, even in women who lived hundreds of years ago.
In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, embodies what was to
become of most modern day women, seeking the privacy from men to obtain her own form of
independence and free will. Her constant rejection of being publicly open towards males gives her the

Collins marriage suit, insulting his pride with her stubbornness. As a rich bachelor Mr. Collins was not
used to being rejected and the way he reacted towards Elizabeth s stubbornness made it fully
understood that his pride had gotten hurt in the process. Her rejection of the proposal is an indication
of her protecting her own pride that had already been hurt by Mr. Darcy before by ruining his. She
acquires privacy from men by keeping them away from her in the form of rejection, insisting entirely
on the absence of men so that she can prosper productively in society as her own woman (Alafaireet

and it eventually led to anger and constant pursuance of his proposal being

Statue Of Liberty Research Paper
History of the Monument The Statue of Liberty has had many symbolic representations from its
creation. The Statue of Liberty was built by the French and given to United States in 1886. The French
valued the democratic meaning and leaders that had prospered in America such as Abraham Lincoln.
This view can also be transferred to the American point of view. When an American sees the Statue of
Liberty and the Ellis island monument they should remember the history and process that America
went through to achieve a fully democratic and equal society. This monument should commemorate
what the American dream means such as Liberty and equality for all. Since this representation is what
many citizens or immigrants thought of when they crossed through ... Show more content on

The idea behind it representing a new life for immigrants is the most commonly known yet there has
been pivotal moments in history in which it s representation is taken into different ways to fit ones
argument. At first the French gave the Statue to the US a symbol of a strong relationship between two
democratic nations. Then when slaves were free the Statue of Liberty s broken shackles at the bottom
represented their new opportunities when it actually was supposed to be freedom from monarchical
governments. When immigrants began arriving through Ellis island it soon became a symbol of new
beginnings and Liberty. When immigrants hit a new nerve with Americans, anti immigration believers
began using the Statue of Liberty as a way to restrict more migrants as they thought that these new
immigrants would tear down the Statue of Liberty. The statues reception adjusted throughout the
United States with factors such as geography and political parties. As the Statue was put together
during the reconstruction phase after the Civil war, many southerners thought it was to show the that
the union had won and prospered. Also it represented how there was no longer slaves in the United
States. This all contributed to a mostly negative point of view from the South. In the North, the Statue
was widely received as a symbol of a new America. Many parades were held on the unveiling of the
Statue and its popularity quickly

This is usually done during the induction/training program of joining the army. During this period the
instructors beast the initiates and build them up as a team so they can co operate efficiently in the line
of duty. Also with them being built up as a team and working everyday side by side there is less
chance of them fighting amongst each other so order will be maintained. Social norms The
psychologists Deutsch and Gerard said when it comes to social norms there are two theories. The first
theory is that if you have a lack of information about something we usually do what the majority of
the class/group are doing for example if you are waiting to cross the road and you don t see the traffic
signals changing because someone is in your way but you start to cross because everyone else is
crossing even though you don t know it is safe to cross. The second theory is that we conform to a
group of people so we feel accepted by acting how they act or the way they dress. For example if I left
the uniformed public service course and joined a art course in the college that they were all wearing a
particular type of clothing eventually I would conform to the way they dress so I feel a part of the
group the same in the public service you will conform to them so you fell accepted in the team.
Positive aspects of discipline In Manchester the police set up a task force called Xcalibre which is a

Essay On Operation Barbarossa
One of the classic what ifs of the World War II is what if the German invasion of the Soviet Union in
June 1941, known as Operation Barbarossa , would have been a success? Hitler being very optimistic
though he could and all he had to do was to kick in the door down and the whole rotten structure of
Stalin s regime would come falling down on him and his regime. Although Operation Barbarossa was
considered a complete failure, in many respects the operation was a complete success. The Germans
had the upper hand took the Soviets by surprise. The Wehrmacht or the German Army was able to
advance through a big portion of the Soviet Union in just a few weeks, were able to capture and
wipeout millions of Soviet troops, and take control of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were uncertain whether to attack to assault Stalingrad, Moscow or Ukraine. Each had its own
particular key significance but since of the sheer size of Russia, it was an awful thought to assault
every city at once, yet that is exactly what they did. This separation of troops had the German lines
two far spread out and the Russian Red Army was able to smash through the German lines and
surrounded the city of Stalingrad. This left the once compelling German sixth army was caught inside
the city. It was simply an issue of time before the noose would begin to tighten around the worn down
and tired Germans. Besides; the Russian winter was something the Germans were not arranged for.
Most of the Wehrmacht soldiers were wearing garments made for medium climate weather, which was
nothing during this unusually cold winter. A lot of their number succumbed to the cold. At the point
when the winter finished, things improved, the defrost that originated from the softening snow
muddied almost every street making it amazingly troublesome for Nazi tanks, trucks and even men to
travel. The rate of advancement was slowed down due to the mud. Thirdly, the eastern front was just
not the Red Army versus the Wehrmacht, there were numerous fanatic groups as well. These groups
used guerrilla warfare to attack German convoys and troops while they were passing

  • 2. Short Essay On Robots Robots used to be a futuristic fantasy seen on television, and in movies. Today though, robots are becoming more prevalent in our daily lives. They are generally defined as machines that automatically perform tasks with precision. A lot of robots include a computer that controls its actions autonomously, others have a human controller, and occasionally it is a combination. As technology advances, the use of robots is rapidly growing. Their use in the workplace increases efficiency, and increases safety because they can do dangerous jobs humans would not normally do. From the first robots used in manufacturing in the 1950s to now, their technology has advanced to being used in an incredible number of fields in the present. In the future robots will create great advancements in the fields of medicine, farming, military, science, and our daily lives. To understand how robotics are and will be used in our daily lives it is important to know how robots work. The most basic parts of robots are the physical frame, a motor, a sensor system, the power supply, and a computer, that controls the robot. Most robots have movable joints, or wheels which are controlled by an actuator, a mechanism that controls equipment (Gibilisco 1994). Lots of robots, for example the common robotic arm, use individual step motors, which are motors that move in exact increments, allowing for precise movements. Some robots are able to move on their own, relying on response to outside stimuli. These robots ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Identify the factors that influence E Y s legal exposure between lawsuits filed in state courts versus those filed in federal courts. Lehman Brothers executives and E Y auditors are liable for the federal and state suits filed depending on the materiality of their involvement. • 4. Censorship Is Monitoring Or Withholding Information Essay Censorship is monitoring or withholding information. The information can come from a book, drama, media, or any other form of entertainment; but it is usually considered a threat to the consumer. Yet the consumer is not always the audience. Sometimes the threat is to a politician or government official. The debate over topics in the realm of what is acceptable and what should be banned only continues to rise as more taboo topics become acceptable. Some argue that keeping certain things behind closed doors is imperative for a harmonious living place. Others say that a small discourse is critical to remain sane. Censorship is a way of protecting society from itself. Leaders and parental figures can make the choice to monitor what is read, watched, and consumed, but until the world lives the life worthy of a children s book the effort is futile. While the narrative being taught may be inappropriate or harsher it doesn t decrease the value of it. Arguments are shown throughout everyday life over every topic. The question isn t, When will society stop fighting the norm? The question is, When will society stop fighting change? The world evolves with every second. With that evolution society blurs the line with what is acceptable and not. Sixty years ago the idea of two boys kissing was the equivalent of burning a baby in church on a Sunday morning. Today, two men kissing is celebrated with its own parade. Social norms and ideals have been ripping down the cloak of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The plague is a symbol for the interment of the Jews under Hitler s reign. The plague was a disease that took away the lives of the people of Oran. My four years in this group contain some of my most significant experiences of my high school career. These experiences were what changed a nervous and absent minded freshman into the confident student leader that I act as today. Only looking at the combo as a music performance group would do a disservice to fully understanding what is actually a four year experience. As far as the reason for this mobility is considered, the Civil Rights Movement is sure to have contributed to it with its calls for social reforms. • 18. The Importance Of Natural Resources In today s fast pace society, we often do not pay much attention to the amount of natural resources we are consuming, and the limited supply of these resources that we will have in the future. The depletion of natural resources is the consumption of a resource faster than it can be replenished. All human beings depend on these natural resources for our basic needs. People often take for granted the abundance of natural resources we have as of now, and use them at an unsustainable rate, putting many of these resources on the verge of becoming depleted. It is reported that humans are using 30% more resources than the Earth can replenish each year, thus leading to deforestation, degraded soils and land, and polluted air and water. Our current world population is 7.2 billion and growing at a rapid rate of about 1.14% per year, however the earth s natural resources are only sustainable for 2 billion at the current demand. As populations grow, consumption increases at a faster rate than technology can find new ways to produce natural resources, and the problem gradually gets worse. At the way humans are living, we are using 2 3 times more of the earth s natural resources than what is sustainable. Our ecological footprint is 1 ½ times the earth s ability to provide the resources needed to meet this level of consumption. But it is also an idiomatic language, a language of cues and puns and symbols and allusions, of cultural references and perceptual inferences and that challenge both the intellect and the eye (Helfand, cited in Shaughnessy, 2008) In other words, it could be said that graphic design helps to form the unique identity of specific subjects. Formal Screening Analysis American Academy of Pediatrics AAP (2012) suggests regular, universal developmental screenings of infants and toddlers by pediatric healthcare providers at 9, 18 and 30 months of age. According to them, these are just standardized screenings that only takes about 15 20 minutes to complete and to see the overall of a child s development. It is important to observe an individual during an early age. The first reason is that it guides a parent or a guardian to identify areas of concern about a specific area of development, such as gross and fine motor skills, communication and language, cognitive skills, etc. These milestones can be observed by the child s pediatrician ... The sea of laughing children shriek with delight as each animal performs more and more astounding acts. What if I told you that Nala the tiger is starved, beaten, tortured into submission? What if I told you that every night, Freddy the elephant is chained in a metal cage, his sanity slipping into the darkness? Would you be laughing then? Good morning parents and teachers and welcome to the 2017 School Ethics Forum. Today I will focus on two compelling ethical reason why the horrific treatment of animals in circuses is morally repulsive. One, circus animals suffer fatal injuries during training. Two, the unnatural restrictions of circus life have a devastating impact on the animals mental health. Firstly, the fatal injuries inflicted on animals in circuses is a direct violation of the ethical principle of harm. Starvation, whips, muzzles, bull hooks, electric pods. These torture devices favoured by circus animal trainers inflict pain and instill terror in innocent animals until they unquestioningly obey every single command. Simple and effective, and cruel, evil and sadistic. How can a trainer listen to harrowing screams of excruciating pain and continue to whip the animal again and again? What kind of heartless monster can watch the soul, the very life drain from a living being and not stop? At every show, Nala the tiger leaps through a ring of fire. Tigers naturally ... Doctorow presents the racism that was occurring in reality through fictional Coalhouse Walker. He is also able to indicate to the reader the effects of discrimination. In Ragtime, Coalhouse Walker stands as a symbol and an advocate for the black people that want to go against the stereotypes that white people make about them. The world has changed vastly since the 19th century especially in the matter of racism. Coalhouse Walker was a professional looking black man who found love with a young woman named Sarah. Walker was not the typical African American and it was very noticeable. Starting from when Walker got out of a new Model T Ford(155) and continuing to his attire and tone of voice, Walker was in every way different then other people of his color. The foremost reason for my dislike was that this book was just an illustration about Lynch s experiences and all about how meditating helped him which might be disappointing for the readers like me because this book can be seen as completely lacking the dramatic tension that readers like me expects from a book. Secondly, I felt that the information provided in this book was fragmented and not very well structured and it seems that author was free to write his experiences into bits and pieces without putting any extra efforts towards character development, story arcs and plotting. If you are not a fan of David Lynch and are not known to his works you will be really disappointed. On the other hand, if you are a great fan of Lynch it is a great book to read for you because every fan desires to know more about his role model s inspiration, how he develop ideas, what are the pushing factors for his works and this book contains it all. It contains everything from Lynch s experiences to his inspirations and push factors for his creative thinking. It is a great book for the ones who want to understand Lynch more deeply. • 33. Essay on The Tragic Hero of Antigone Everyone agrees that Oedipus is the quintessential Greek tragic hero. In fact, Aristotle had Oedipus specifically in mind when he first set down the requirements for tragedy in his Poetics. However, in other Greek tragedies, the tragic hero isn t always so easy to identify. For example, in the play Antigone, the reader may have some difficulty deciding who the tragic hero is. Nevertheless, a careful examination of the facts reveals that Antigone is the true tragic heroine because she s brave, flawed, and noble. Antigone is a tragic hero because she is brave. One instance where Antigone shows bravery is when she is talking to Antigone about attempting to give her brother, Polynices, a proper burial, When I have tried and failed, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Antigone proves that she is a tragic hero because she is flawed in the fact that she has too much pride. One moment that displays that Antigone possesses too much pride, is when Ismene reminds her about the severe punishments that could result from giving Polynices a proper burial, He has no right to keep me from my own (128). This quote shows that Antigone is willing to disobey the king, Creon in order to please herself by giving Polynices a proper burial. Consisting of too much pride is eventually the cause of her death. A second instant where Antigone is shown to have an exceeding amount of pride is when she is determined to give Polynices a proper burial is when Ismene has been consistently telling her that she will not succeed, Go your own way; I will bury my brother! (128). Antigone is telling her sister, Ismene, that she will bury her brother no matter what, and there is nothing that will stop her from doing it. A third example of Antigone having too much pride is when she tells Ismene why she wants to persevere in giving her brother a proper burial, convicted of reverence I shall be content/ to live beside a brother whom I love (128). Antigone loves Polynices so much that she wants to die for him, so that she can be buried next to him. This will give her pride if she accomplishes it. Antigone thinks that the only way this will happen is if she buries him herself, and then gets killed for burying him. In addition to having a flaw, another that proves ... Then when slaves were free the Statue of Liberty s broken shackles at the bottom represented their new opportunities when it actually was supposed to be freedom from monarchical governments. When immigrants began arriving through Ellis island it soon became a symbol of new beginnings and Liberty.
