The Stages Of An Unreflective Thinker
Critical thinking is being able to evaluate an issue or situation to form a judgment. Having the ability
to think clearly and rationally, being able to have an argument and understand the main concept and
question any doubts you have and making your own conclusion. Being a good critical thinker can help
you in a lot of ways professionally and personally. Employers often want to see someone that can
think rationally and that is able to make their business grow and develop they want someone that will
take initiative in crucial situations. In our personal lives, it is important so we learn how to distinguish
the main facts about an argument and learn to analyze the problem and make a conclusion of what
needs to be done to help solve and prevent any future problems. According to Linda Elder and Richard
Paul, there are six stages of a critical thinker the unreflective thinker, the challenged thinker, the
beginning thinker, the advanced thinker, and finally the accomplished thinker which is where we
would all want to be in. (The Critical Thinking Community , 2010) Stage one the unreflective thinker
is simply someone that is unaware of what role thinking is playing in their lives. I think we are all
born as an unreflective thinker and some people don t know the useful conception of what thinking
really is and they don t develop better thinking skills and end up dying the same way. Being an
unreflective thinker means that you know you have a problem but don t take the time or don t

Inclusion In Australia
Just like any individuals in our society, the needs of students with a disability also differ. As a future
educator and specifically a physical education teacher, I believe inclusion is at the utmost importance
within a school setting in both theory and practical lessons. It is disheartening to know that students in
particular those with a disability are often excluded due to their needs and that a number of teachers
are not educated with the right skills in a way that they know how to plan their lessons effectively
enough that all students are able to participate and feel comfortable doing so. According to the
Inclusive Education for Students with a Disability (2013) report which was commissioned by the
Australian Research Alliance for Children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to have an inclusive lesson I believe it is the teacher s responsibility to pre plan and prepare
each activity to suit each child s specific needs. Collaboration is not simply two or more people
working together, but more importantly it is how two or more people can effectively work towards a
shared goal (Friend Bursuck, 2009) . Research has shown that students benefit from educators seeking
assistance and guidance from each other in order to provide a supportive learning environment for
students with disabilities within the general education curriculum , in which could be the most
engaging and successful experience for all parties involved (Leader Janssen, Swain, Delkamiller,

Essay about The Horror that Are Child Soldiers
All around the world, especially in third world countries, children are being forced to fight in wars and
conflicts that they did not start, and they do not need to fight in. Today, it is estimated that over
300,000 children are enlisted in armies and militias around the world (Kaplan). These children are
called child soldiers. A child soldier is classified as a person enlisted in an army or militia that is under
the age of eighteen. (11 Facts). They are recruited into armies for many different reasons and used for
many different tasks. There are a number of countries that children are forced to fight in such as
Columbia, Myanmar, Iraq, and many more (11 Facts/Kaplan). Children should not be forced to be
soldiers in war because it puts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children taken into these armies are forced to watch despicable things happen to people they know or
do not know, but they know that they are human and most likely innocent (Stolen Kids). For example,
an eleven year old boy in Myanmar was forced to watch as mothers were killed. Afterwards, some of
the soldiers smashed their babies heads on rocks and killed them (Stolen Kids). Not only are children
forced to watch these terrible things happen, they are forced to commit wretched crimes as well. A
twelve year old Columbian girl was held at gunpoint and told to kill one of her friends. She eventually
did, but closed her eyes and she had to bury the body afterwards (Stolen Kids). She was told that she
was not allowed to cry while doing this as well as that this murder was the first of many, and that not
crying is crucial (Stolen Kids). This is one of many crimes that children are forced to commit while in
service to armies and militias. The things that child soldiers are forced to do lead to a lot of
psychological trauma. When an organization called War Child interviewed children they had rescued,
up to 90% admitted that they needed psychological help and support to cope with what they had seen
and done. A study has shown that children who are rescued often have nightmares, sadness, recurring
violent images, and intrusive thoughts. The children who were forced to commit terrible

My Observation Experience At Cedar Rapids, Iowa
For my observation experience I went to my aunts house in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was a beautiful,
bright Sunday afternoon on the 23rd of October, 2016. It was late afternoon when I arrived, around
3pm. I was welcomed by my aunt with a big hug and she called for her son Goose, my cousin, who
was helping me with my assignment. I asked where he would be most comfortable and he said I work
best on the couch so we went into the living room. I sat on the couch to the right of him and he laid on
his belly on the couch next to me. His mom sat in as well in a chair across from Goose. It was very
bright because of the large window so Goose asked to switch me couches so he could see better. I
happily obliged. I explained how he was going to help me with my homework and he didn t seem too
interested, until I handed him my large sketch pad. His face lit up and he told his mom I want one of
these for Christmas Mom! . His mom proceeded to tell me how much he enjoys art class at school.
Description of the Young Artist Goose is an eight year old boy who is currently a third grader enrolled
in a local school district in Cedar Rapids. He is a little shy when he is first around someone but
gradually he becomes more comfortable. By the end of my visit he was showing me his new Axe
cologne his mom just got him and walking me around their backyard trying to find their two cats,

Constructivist Learning Theory Essay
The very first thing one must know about the constructivist theory of learning is the premise that
learners arrive at learning situations with prior knowledge and proceed to take and active part in
building new knowledge upon that prior knowledge as they experience new things and reflect on those
collected experiences (Learning Theories Knowledgebase, 2012). This theory directly contradicts the
behaviorist learning theory in which learners are believed to arrive at learning situations with clean
slates of understanding. From a behaviorist s perspective, people learn because as they respond to
negative and positive stimuli in their environment (Learning Theories Knowledgebase, 2012). While
that may change observable behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of a constructivist education, therefore, is to facilitate the process for learners in
constructing their understanding. Constructivist learning fosters critical thinking and creates active
and motivated learners, according to McClurg (2009). The educational emphasis is not on delivering
knowledge nor organizing that knowledge in a prescriptive system, but rather on teaching students
how to build their own understanding within meaningful contexts for lasting effect (Learning Theories
Knowledgebase, 2012).
Lev Vygotsky is one of the earliest proponents of a constructivist learning theory. Although he only
lived through the early 1930s, his work was largely unknown in the West until the 1960s (Learning
Theories Knowledgebase, 2012). His significant contributions to constructivist learning theory include
three important distinctions. First, he purports in Mind and Society: the development of higher mental
process (1978) that social interaction between people plays the first fundamental role in the process of
cognitive development (explained in the Learning Theories Knowledgebase, 2012). This means we
first learn by watching others and discussing new information with others, only then do we attempt to
use our own cognitive systems for storing that new knowledge individually. Vygotsky focused on the
connections between

Citizen Kane Meaning
Kali Arellano English 12 Mr. Koehn Hour 1 Citizen Kane Analysis Citizen Kane is often criticized as
one of the best movies of all time. The 1941 classic is Drama, starring Orson Welles and Dorothy
Comingore. In the movie we get to see Charles Foster Kane (played by Orson Welles who also co
wrote and directed film) serve to please others through fall appearances and seek attention in order to
have a prosperous and wealthy life. Although Charles Foster lived the American Dream by altering his

Freyr Research Paper
The sun has been depicted as a god or an object pulled by a god throughout many mythologies. Most
people may think of Helios, Apollo, or Ra when the term sun god comes up, but in Norse mythology,
there is yet another god of the sun. Frey, who is also known as Freyr, is a god who is considered to be
a god of the sun, among many other things. It can be said that Frey is to the Norsemen what Apollo
was to the Greeks. He was one of the many deities that made up Norse mythology, and also one of the
most interesting.
Frey was the Norse god of the sun, rain, agriculture, fertility, and health, and an important god in the
Norse culture. He was part of the group of gods called the Vanir, a peace loving tribe, and he s also an
honorary member of the other tribe of Norse gods, the Aesir (McCoy). ... Show more content on

He also owned a magical ship, Skidbladnir, which can be folded up and carried in a small bag
(McCoy). Frey was often symbolized by his favored boar, Golden Bristles, who pulled his sun chariot.
Being the god of fertility, he is depicted, logically, with a gigantic phallus (Leeming). As the god of
fertility and agriculture, farmers worshipped him and traveled with an image of Frey in their wagons.
They believed this practice made their crops thrive. Many ancient Scandinavian families claimed to be
descended from Frey because they thought his presence guaranteed a plentiful harvest and peace
(Lindahl). As with most gods in other mythologies, there was a complex family system. Frey had a
twin sister, Freya, with whom he also had a child with. His father was Njord, a sea god, and while it is
unclear who is real mother is, some may say is Njord s unnamed

What Was The Main Cause Of The Riot In July 23, 1967
On July 23, 1967, a massive riot began in Detroit because a rumor was spread that police used
excessive force during a street bar raid on an unlicensed bar. During the riot many buildings were
destroyed and a lot of people were killed and injured, with some people being shot and killed by
police trying to control the riot. Many people like Detroit Congressman John Conyers and Mayor
Jerome Cavanaugh helped to stop the riot. Finally, the riot ended on July 27th, although the aftermath
of the riot left about $32 million in property damage. When the rumor was started that police were

Choosing To My Life By Corrie Ten Boom
Any step that removes sorrow from your life is a step in the right direction. Choosing to invite
happiness into your life is the journey most worthy to embark these steps on. I ve come up with three
steps that justify the values of a quote from Corrie ten Boom that says, Worry does not empty
tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength. For anyone going through a sorrowful
situation, a happier lifestyle is a few thoughts away. The three steps to a happier life in the midst of a
sad situation is: accepting a problem for what it is, letting go of negativity, and thinking positivity.
The first step to releasing worry from your life is accepting the problem you are facing. My struggle
started when I learned my brother, Sam, had AML leukemia and would have to undergo chemotherapy
treatments. It is important that people get the facts and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Worrying too much will not create a better tomorrow. Once a person gives up a pessimistic lifestyle,
he or she can gain control over their thoughts and emotions. Letting go of negativity leaves you
vulnerable to have thoughts that still may not improve your well being. You must choose to see the
good in the world and find something to believe in. Personally, I believe that for every heartbreak in
life, there is also something to to be rejoiced. Learning that a loved one has cancer is devastating, but
seeing them heal is remarkable. Choose to have a mindset that contributes to a happy lifestyle. Learn
to realize how many good opportunities a bad situation gives you. I was able to witness some events in
a whole new light. For example, most people don t get to experience growing their hair back or
gaining muscle back at such a fast pace. These experiences prove how much an illness can take away
and how quickly a strong mindset can restore that deficit. A good outlook on life will heal and
strengthen anyone who chooses happiness over

Nonrational Decision Making
In this case, there was absolutely the nonrational model of decision making being displayed. The
nonrational model of decision making displayed in this case caused major damage to our planet s
ocean life and killed workers that were on the oil rig. Nonrational decision making tries to explain
how decisions are made (Kreitner Kinicki). In this case, the two companies, BP and Transocean Ltd
made a nonrational decision by allowing the oil rig to continue to operate knowing that there was a
problem with it. Their decision making was bounded rationally which means the decision makers
wanted to make the decision is a rational way but were restricted by constraints (de Farias Godoi,
2009). In this case, the top two workers for each company inquired a personal issue ... Show more

Knowing that there was an issue, these top employees decided to decline the issue and move on with
operations. The proper solutions were not created to stop this disaster before it began to happen. They

covered in oil killing many marine and land animals. Also, the top employees displayed to the world
the true meaning of the garbage can model which is broken down into four streams of events.
In conclusion, these two companies did not complete the steps to making a rational decision which led
to a disaster. This disaster was all over the news and cost both companies millions of dollars in clean
up and a new oil rig. As managers, it is important for us to ensure that we make a rational decision so
we can obtain a positive outcome. In this case, there was no positive outcome because there were
careless leadership mistakes and irrational decision making. The workers on the rig did not help the
situation either by pumping sea water to clear out

Kritios Boy Essay
Created sometime around 480 BCE, the marble sculpture Kritios Boy is a significant piece of ancient
Greek art. Although it was recovered in a mutilated state over one thousand years after its creation, the
sculpture still manages to showcase detail of the human body in a more naturalized form than the
similar pieces of art that had came before. This piece of artwork was created at a very busy time in
Greek history. Greece was in the midst of a war with Persia, and Athens was a pre Socratic society that
was nearing the height of interest in philosophy. With that came the quest to identify mankind s
natural identity. The results of this quest was displayed in many pieces of artwork. Kritios Boy was
sculpted in the figure of a human male, and was quite distinct from similar pieces of artwork of earlier
Greek and Egyptian history. Kouros, from only forty five years prior to Kritios Boy, was much more
closely related to the heavily idealized Egyptian sculptures like the Triad of Mycerinas. Those earlier
sculptures were similar in that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most noticeably in the way that the statue is standing. Rather than standing in the rigid stance of the
Kouros and others before, the figure is demonstrating a contrapposto stance, a more natural and
common way of standing that places the body s weight on one side of the body, with the left leg
standing straight, and the right one bent and relaxed. Looking up through the torso, one will see that
the hips are not aligned, contributing to the more relaxed and natural stance. This showcases the
progress made in the quest to represent the natural body, as it is a very common way for humans to
stand. Other features, such as proportion and muscle definition, place Kritios more towards the natural
side of the styleized naturalized spectrum. Unlike the Kouros of 600 BCE, the Kritios s head and torso
correspond well with the rest of the body, and muscle and bone structure appear more

Electric Vehicles Vs. Gasoline Vehicles Essay
Materials and Methods Source #1 In the first article, Electric Vehicles vs Gasoline Vehicles: A Cost
and Emissions Comparison, the cost and GHG emissions of plug in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV),
electric vehicles (EVs), and standard gasoline cars were compared. All the numbers used in the
research were based on averages in the Midwestern region of the United States, and was published
June 2nd, 2011 at 10:53 a.m. Its goal was to measure how much better, or worse, any type of electric
car is compared to your standard gas car. It also compared how much it costs you to drive per mile.
The source believes hybrid vehicles actually hurt the environment more than it preserves. To calculate
the cost per mile, they took the average power used for PHEVs per 100 miles, 35 Kwh, and multiplied
that by the average cost per Kwh in residential regions, $0.11. Then, it takes into account the cost to
get a charging station at your home. This really drives up the cost of electric vehicles because it cost
$50 to $90 for a subscription every month. After that, the emissions per mile was calculated for all
three cars by calculating the average. The regional average for hybrid cars 35 Kwh per 100 miles. It
also took into account the regions power plant GHG emissions from natural gas and coal. Source #2 In
the second article, Emissions from Hybrid and Plug In Electric Vehicles, the types of energy used to

Persuasive Essay On Freedom Of Speech
We as United States citizens have become too sensitive to the negativity that has been put upon us. In

not that it s alright to offend people; offending someone on purpose is just wrong. However to seek to

belief has disrupted our education process, made us lose our sense of security, and it s killing the

She had claimed in her notes The twelfth: Have a good day, dear and another instance she noted that

he wanted to make a connection with her so that it would help her understand the class subject but
instead of absorbing the education she had decided to find ways to manipulate John and her
interactions to show how he had more power than she did. She wanted to prove that it was not ok for
him to have this power. She did this under no good reason also, she did this because her group told her

invaluable to our way of life. Sometimes ideas need to be said. Yes some will find them offensive, but

The Theory Of Social Bonding Theory
The one single theory that can explain all types of criminals or crime, all the time, anywhere is clearly
Travis Hirschi s social bonding theory developed in 1969. In this theory Hirschi believes that
delinquent behavior is an example that results from weak social bonds. In most cases, crime is the
result that starts far before adult or even adolescent years. This is why there are four key elements to
social bonding theory that range from attachment, commitment, involvement, and belief. All of these
elements are key to the forming and reasoning of one s involvement in crime. Most people grow up
attached to a certain figure in their lives whether it be a close person throughout their lifetime such as
a neighbor, friend, family member, or in most cases a parent. As well as becoming attached, most
everyone is also involved in some form of commitment and involvement through out their life.
Commitment is one s commitment to society as involvement is the amount of time one is consuming
taking part in legitimate activities. The last element to social bonding theory, belief, refers to a person
s internalization of the laws or other social norms such as religious beliefs or what they were raised as
being considered appropriate . The best true general theory of crime is based on a person s social bond
that include: attachment, commitment, involvement, and belief. The first element and perhaps the
most important of social bond, is attachment. According to Ryan, Testa, Fuhua (2008),

Symbols Add A Level Of Depth That Can Help The Reader To
Symbols add a level of depth that can help the reader to see beyond what the author has provided and
into the lives of the characters themselves. Furthermore, analyzing symbols can help expand the
reader s knowledge of what certain actions or evens can mean during the play. Symbols can be found
throughout both Trifles and Othello, and each one helps further the plot or enhance characterization in
some way. Susan Glaspell and William Shakespeare both use powerful symbols to further the plot and
enhance character development.

Wright. One of the first mentions is made by Mrs. Hale, when she states that Mrs. Wright used to sing
real pretty herself (Glaspell 857). She s implying that while Mrs. Wright used to sing, she no longer
does. This further proven when Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters find the strangled bird, and Mrs. Hale
points out that Mr. Wright would have never let such a creature that sang dwell in his household. Mrs.
Hale implies that Mr. Wright ultimately kills anything that sings in his presence. Not only does the
bird represent who Mrs. Wright used to be, its current state represents who Mrs. Wright became to be;
Mr. Wright strangled the beautiful spirit right out of her, leaving nothing but an empty husk of her
former self.
On the other hand, while Glaspell s symbols seem to represent her characters, Shakespeare represents
the struggles that his characters are experiencing throughout Othello. The first symbol that can be
noted within the famous play is that handkerchief that Othello gave to Desdemona. Othello shares
with Desdemona the original representation by recounting the story of how it came to be in his family

Sediment Contamination
Sediments are formed from fine grained waste material due to erosion from the mine site. It often
contains dissolved metals as a result of the mining processes containing some toxic constituents such
as lead and high levels of mercury. During severe storm events and high snowmelt periods, erosion
transports a significant amount of sediments and chemicals pollutants into locals streams. Dissolved
metals often settle under the stream bed and cause decreases in macroinvertebrate and benthic
invertebrate populations. Metal accumulation in aquatic organisms, particularly benthic species, can
also lead to acute and chronic toxicity to aquatic life [EPA 35]. In addition, research has shown a
correlation between an increase in suspended solids with a decrease in density of macroinvertebrate
and benthic invertebrate populations. High turbidity can also reduce passages of light and prevent
photosynthetic activity of aquatic plants [EPA 34 35]. Aquatic plants are a major food source for
macroinvertebrates and benthic invertebrates. The reduction of plants can stimulate further declines in
aquatic life populations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Metals that settle in the stream bed can be transported by bioaccumulation. If contaminated fish is
consumed, metals may be transferred to humans and impact their physical health. Human are exposed
to the toxic metals by drinking water contaminated by sediments [EPA 35]. In addition to potential
impacts on human and aquatic life, sedimentation can also physically impact the hydraulic system.
Physical impact associated with mining includes the filling of deep pools that can result in the loss of
habitat and temperature increases [EPA 35]. Excess sediment can build up behind dams and raise
reservoir water levels. In addition to this, sedimentation can also cause the channel to widen and
become shallower. Thus, increasing the frequency of overbank flow [EPA

in society. Alfred Blumstein and Richard Rosenfeld (1998) explores some factors that posible
contributes to the changing homicide rates. Both of these men have looked into the changes in age
specfic homicide arrest rates. According to Blumstein Rosenfeld (1998) crime rates for persons age 18
and younger than have doubled. The rates for those 30 and above have delinced by about 20 25%. As
well as mentioning that from 1985, handgun homicide among youth increased by 100% by 1994 and
juveniles use of handgun increased over 300% (Blumstein Rosenfeld, 1998). This piece of work
makes an example of the relationship between age and crime. For the reason that the data provided
shows how there has been a tremendous rate of crime from the youth compared to older adults.
Evidence showing that older age groups are declining in crime rates but the youth is increasing
illustrations the transition in society.
Another study that shows the transition in society and crimes rates among various age groups is the
works from Janet L. Lauritsen (1998). She demonstrates in her study the relationship between age and
crime analyzing individual s involvement in delinquency, serious criminal behavior, and victimization.
She believes that age crime curve reaches a peak during late adolescence but declines through time. To
back this up, using data from the first five waves of the National Youth Survey

Air Defense Artillery And Its Impact On The Korean War
Air Defense Artillery and its Impact on the Korean War The Korean peninsula has had a long history
of turmoil, miring the country in wars and disputes. Due to growing tensions in the region around the
mid 1900s, it would soon become necessary for America to step in to assist in resolving conflict. The
Air Defense Artillery (ADA), or the Anti Aircraft Artillery (AAA) during the Korean War, played a
major role in supporting the war effort during the Korean War. The AAA played an important role
leading up to the war, during the war, and the lessons learned from the war assisted in building the
branch for the future.

Using 3 inch or 105 mm guns fixed to mobile units made AAA one force to not to be messed with
during the wars. One of which was when North Korea attacked South Korea in June 1950.
In my generation, this was not the first occasion when the strong had attacked the weak. Communism
was acting in Korea just as Hitler, Mussolini, and the Japanese had acted ten, fifteen, and twenty years
earlier. I felt certain that if South Korea was allowed to fall, Communist leaders would be emboldened
to override nations closer to our own shores. (Truman, 1955)
The Army Antiaircraft Command was established as a matter of priority to insure necessary joint
planning, maximum efficiency and functional readiness of Army elements that become part of an air
defense system for the Continental United States (Lazar, p. 7). Throughout the Korean War, the Army
Antiaircraft Command, currently known as Air Defense Artillery, had various missions. AAA units
attached closely to infantry or armored divisions for additional ground support and depended
completely on radio communications. However, Detachment X Ray had a different mission to
execute; establish air defense. Thirty five top quality troops from 507th AAA rapidly deployed to the
Suwon airfield shortly after the Korean War kicked off. After arriving to their destination, the troops
downloaded their equipment with the support of the South Korean soldiers. Despite the language

Case Analysis Of Cloud Networking
Today, large corporations have employees in several locations around the world. It is imperative each
employee can access and update important information to provide the most up to date data to the rest
of the organization. Cloud hosting provides a path to ensure open communication channels for an
organization to adequately operate on the global scale. Crowd hosting allows the use of more than one
server to reduce downtimes in the case of a mechanical malfunction. An organization can sign a
services agreement with a cloud hosting vendor to secure access to the technology. As with any
purchase, business leaders must ensure the chosen vendor is the best option for the organization. For

HostGator provides an alternative hosting opportunity for prospective organizations.
Founded in 2002, HostGator has been in the hosting industry for a long time. The company has
consistently grown since its humble beginnings, and now has offices in several countries around the
world in order to continually expand their customer base. Aimed primarily at the semi technical user,
Host Gator s flexibility is their strong suit (Frankel, 2017, para 3). This distinction allows more tech
savvy businesses to pick and choose desired features to ensure the final product is pleasing. HostGator
has near limitless options and control, however, they require a little more knowledge than beginner
focused web hosts (Frankel, 2017, para 4). HostGator has developed an outstanding reputation in the
hosting community for its performance. The company offers reliable services at competitive prices by
affording organizations the flexibility to choose the services needed instead of simply offering rigid
packages. HostGator boasts an extremely advanced datacenter to ensure redundancy in their server
network to prevent downtime. They have incorporated a level of redundancy that prevents single point
of failure in order to deliver services as advertised. While HostGator has a great reputation of
performance, it must perform well in key performance indicators (KPI) identified by prospective
clients to turn them into customers.

Pros And Cons Of Obamacare
In Chapter four of Ten Letters , there is a letter to President Obama written by Natoma Canfield, a
woman whose health insurance became increasingly unaffordable after she survived cancer. After
receiving Natoma s letter, Obama often carried it with him as he spoke of the need to reform
healthcare to make it more affordable to those who needed it the most and to expand coverage to those
who could not get it. The Affordable Care Act, which came to be called Obamacare in the news media,
passed through both houses of congress without a single Republican vote in favor and was signed into
law by President Obama in March 2010. Obamacare aims to let citizens have their own health care
and to make health care more affordable. According to CNN, when ... Show more content on

amended a House passed bill to add a tax to it (Flint v. Stone Tracy Co., 1911), Obamacare began in
the Senate instead of in the House of Representatives, and it was a rewriting of an old bill about

Majority Leader Harry Reid changed some contents of the old bill and added new provisions, so this
old bill became the Affordable Care Act. The process of passing Obamacare was therefore careless

Advantages Of Mass Migration To The British Colonies
Paragraph 1: Thesis There was a multitude of social, political, and economic factors that encouraged
the mass migration of people from the Old World to the 13 British colonies. New democratic features,
education, higher wages, employment opportunities, and religious tolerance were among some of the
promises that lured people to migrate and start a new life in America with more personal choice and
freedom. Paragraph 2: Economy Economic advantages were the main incentive for immigrants to
come to the colonies because they allowed people to have economic independence and stability;
America was a good investment. The economic situation in Great Britain was deteriorating: wages
were low, unemployment rates skyrocketed, and it was practically impossible to move up from your
social class because of the social hierarchy that existed. The poor that faced poverty and
unemployment in Great Britain, sought to find new jobs and homes; the American Dream was born.
The new system of indentured servants found in the colonies allowed for the less fortunate to give up
their freedom for a certain period of time in return for liberty and benefits, such as land, when their
contract expired . Although this system had its flaws, such as maltreatment of servants and forced
indenture, many found themselves able to rebuild their lives completely. For most, freedom meant
being in control and owning land. Opportunities for farming and trading allowed families to make
profit from the raw goods such as

Serial Killers On Death Row
Capital punishment aims to avoid injustice and crime rates, as it now verified to be legal and
constitutional. This method can help save lives, especially because of serial killers on death row. Serial
killers slaughter many people, as they would kill innocent people on the streets. A prime example is
Ted Bundy. According to his lawyer, Bundy killed over a hundred people and most of them were
women who he also sexually assaulted. He was also extremely intelligent, as he escaped from the jail
cells in both Utah and Colorado. Therefore, for somebody like him, a life sentence may not work
because he was able to charm the workers. With his charm and personality, he received many
privileges, such as library access. He also seemed to show no remorse, because he openly denied
killing innocent bystanders until the night before his execution. Therefore, for somebody like him;
whom the public somehow obsessed over, was aware of his horrid actions, and knew how to escape
jail; a life in prison would not have succeeded. He was executed and this may have saved many lives
of women because there is no longer the possibly of him escaping jail for a third time. In addition,
criminologists have longed studied that statistics of the effects on crime rates. Ernest van den Haag, a
professor at Fordham University, wrote, Even though statistical demonstrations are not conclusive,
and perhaps cannot be, capital punishment is likely to deter more than other punishments because

The Garden By Andrew Corvel Poetry
The poet who marvelled the readers and critics alike in the last decade of the nineteenth century
through his exquisite handling of subject matter and stylistic devices is obviously Andrew
Marvell(1621 1678).Originally associated with the school of Donne ,that is , the metaphysical school
of poetry which focused on abstruse terminology, dramatic beginning, ratiocinative mode, colloquial
language, wit, pun, paradox, ambiguity and above all, the use of metaphysical conceit; his is a
veritable mosaic where he deals with varied and variegated themes. His poems like To His Coy
Mistress, The Coronet, Mourning, Last Instructions to a Painter, The Fair Singer, The Picture of Little

Differences And Similarities Between Harrison Bergeron And...
Between Harrison Bergeron and 2081, there are many similarities and differences. For one of the
major similarities between these two are that the themes are the same. The theme is stand up for what
you believe in. In 2081, Harrison Bergeron threw his handicaps to the floor, which symbolizes
freedom and independence. In Harrison Bergeron , it states Harrison tore off the straps of his
handicaps like wet tissue paper, the straps were guaranteed to support five thousand pounds. When he
ripped off the five thousand pound handicap, he stood up for being free and different. The filmmaker
leaves this scene in the movie because it was one of the main morals in the story.

A Farewell to Arms, by Ernest Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway defined a hero as, A man who lives correctly, following the ideals of honor,
courage and endurance in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and always painful. It is
blatantly apparent that Henry, the protagonist of A Farewell to Arms, did not exemplify any of these
traits at all in the beginning of the novel. However, as the book progressed, Henry gradually learned
how to be a Hemingway Hero , and he eventually progressed to the point where he completely
embodied all that is expected of such. It is crucial to realize, however, that Henry did not become a
textbook example of a Hemingway Hero overnight. It would have been absolutely impossible for
Henry to become the man he was at the end of the novel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What Henry experienced during this particular time significantly impacted him and helped him break
away from the blueprint of the average soldier . Becoming a member of the army was of great benefit
to Henry because it was the one thing that really pushed him over the edge and shattered the world as
he knew it. The whole experience of the retreat was a crucial part of the book because it gave Henry
the insight he needed to grow into a Hemingway Hero. Events like Aymo s death and Bonello s
cowardice definitely influenced Henry, but bigger events like the killing of the sergeant was what
really changed Henry the most. Henry s encounter with the battle police was truly sobering as well. He
found what they were doing to the officers disgusting and dishonorable, but after all that is what
happens amid the chaos of a retreat. I saw how their minds worked; if they had minds and if they
worked. They were all young men and they were saving their country (Hemingway 224). When Henry
saw the darker side of the army, and just how wrong everything that was happening really was, he
truly changed inside. After he finally did escape, he completely abandons the army forever, Anger was
washed away in the river along with any obligation (Hemingway 232). It was at this moment Henry
truly embodied a Hemingway Hero. Equally important in Henry s development into a Hemingway
Hero was his love for Catherine. Before Henry met Catherine he was extremely selfish. This was

  • 2. The Stages Of An Unreflective Thinker Critical thinking is being able to evaluate an issue or situation to form a judgment. Having the ability to think clearly and rationally, being able to have an argument and understand the main concept and question any doubts you have and making your own conclusion. Being a good critical thinker can help you in a lot of ways professionally and personally. Employers often want to see someone that can think rationally and that is able to make their business grow and develop they want someone that will take initiative in crucial situations. In our personal lives, it is important so we learn how to distinguish the main facts about an argument and learn to analyze the problem and make a conclusion of what needs to be done to help solve and prevent any future problems. According to Linda Elder and Richard Paul, there are six stages of a critical thinker the unreflective thinker, the challenged thinker, the beginning thinker, the advanced thinker, and finally the accomplished thinker which is where we would all want to be in. (The Critical Thinking Community , 2010) Stage one the unreflective thinker is simply someone that is unaware of what role thinking is playing in their lives. I think we are all born as an unreflective thinker and some people don t know the useful conception of what thinking really is and they don t develop better thinking skills and end up dying the same way. Being an unreflective thinker means that you know you have a problem but don t take the time or don t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Inclusion In Australia Just like any individuals in our society, the needs of students with a disability also differ. As a future educator and specifically a physical education teacher, I believe inclusion is at the utmost importance within a school setting in both theory and practical lessons. It is disheartening to know that students in particular those with a disability are often excluded due to their needs and that a number of teachers are not educated with the right skills in a way that they know how to plan their lessons effectively enough that all students are able to participate and feel comfortable doing so. According to the Inclusive Education for Students with a Disability (2013) report which was commissioned by the Australian Research Alliance for Children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to have an inclusive lesson I believe it is the teacher s responsibility to pre plan and prepare each activity to suit each child s specific needs. Collaboration is not simply two or more people working together, but more importantly it is how two or more people can effectively work towards a shared goal (Friend Bursuck, 2009) . Research has shown that students benefit from educators seeking assistance and guidance from each other in order to provide a supportive learning environment for students with disabilities within the general education curriculum , in which could be the most engaging and successful experience for all parties involved (Leader Janssen, Swain, Delkamiller, Ritzman, 2012, p. ... • 4. Essay about The Horror that Are Child Soldiers All around the world, especially in third world countries, children are being forced to fight in wars and conflicts that they did not start, and they do not need to fight in. Today, it is estimated that over 300,000 children are enlisted in armies and militias around the world (Kaplan). These children are called child soldiers. A child soldier is classified as a person enlisted in an army or militia that is under the age of eighteen. (11 Facts). They are recruited into armies for many different reasons and used for many different tasks. There are a number of countries that children are forced to fight in such as Columbia, Myanmar, Iraq, and many more (11 Facts/Kaplan). Children should not be forced to be soldiers in war because it puts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children taken into these armies are forced to watch despicable things happen to people they know or do not know, but they know that they are human and most likely innocent (Stolen Kids). For example, an eleven year old boy in Myanmar was forced to watch as mothers were killed. Afterwards, some of the soldiers smashed their babies heads on rocks and killed them (Stolen Kids). Not only are children forced to watch these terrible things happen, they are forced to commit wretched crimes as well. A twelve year old Columbian girl was held at gunpoint and told to kill one of her friends. She eventually did, but closed her eyes and she had to bury the body afterwards (Stolen Kids). She was told that she was not allowed to cry while doing this as well as that this murder was the first of many, and that not crying is crucial (Stolen Kids). This is one of many crimes that children are forced to commit while in service to armies and militias. The things that child soldiers are forced to do lead to a lot of psychological trauma. When an organization called War Child interviewed children they had rescued, up to 90% admitted that they needed psychological help and support to cope with what they had seen and done. A study has shown that children who are rescued often have nightmares, sadness, recurring violent images, and intrusive thoughts. The children who were forced to commit terrible ... • 5. My Observation Experience At Cedar Rapids, Iowa For my observation experience I went to my aunts house in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was a beautiful, bright Sunday afternoon on the 23rd of October, 2016. It was late afternoon when I arrived, around 3pm. I was welcomed by my aunt with a big hug and she called for her son Goose, my cousin, who was helping me with my assignment. I asked where he would be most comfortable and he said I work best on the couch so we went into the living room. I sat on the couch to the right of him and he laid on his belly on the couch next to me. His mom sat in as well in a chair across from Goose. It was very bright because of the large window so Goose asked to switch me couches so he could see better. I happily obliged. I explained how he was going to help me with my homework and he didn t seem too interested, until I handed him my large sketch pad. His face lit up and he told his mom I want one of these for Christmas Mom! . His mom proceeded to tell me how much he enjoys art class at school. Description of the Young Artist Goose is an eight year old boy who is currently a third grader enrolled in a local school district in Cedar Rapids. He is a little shy when he is first around someone but gradually he becomes more comfortable. By the end of my visit he was showing me his new Axe cologne his mom just got him and walking me around their backyard trying to find their two cats, Darrel and Griffin. He s also very analytical. • 6. Constructivist Learning Theory Essay The very first thing one must know about the constructivist theory of learning is the premise that learners arrive at learning situations with prior knowledge and proceed to take and active part in building new knowledge upon that prior knowledge as they experience new things and reflect on those collected experiences (Learning Theories Knowledgebase, 2012). This theory directly contradicts the behaviorist learning theory in which learners are believed to arrive at learning situations with clean slates of understanding. From a behaviorist s perspective, people learn because as they respond to negative and positive stimuli in their environment (Learning Theories Knowledgebase, 2012). While that may change observable behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of a constructivist education, therefore, is to facilitate the process for learners in constructing their understanding. Constructivist learning fosters critical thinking and creates active and motivated learners, according to McClurg (2009). The educational emphasis is not on delivering knowledge nor organizing that knowledge in a prescriptive system, but rather on teaching students how to build their own understanding within meaningful contexts for lasting effect (Learning Theories Knowledgebase, 2012). Lev Vygotsky is one of the earliest proponents of a constructivist learning theory. Although he only lived through the early 1930s, his work was largely unknown in the West until the 1960s (Learning Theories Knowledgebase, 2012). His significant contributions to constructivist learning theory include three important distinctions. First, he purports in Mind and Society: the development of higher mental process (1978) that social interaction between people plays the first fundamental role in the process of cognitive development (explained in the Learning Theories Knowledgebase, 2012). This means we first learn by watching others and discussing new information with others, only then do we attempt to use our own cognitive systems for storing that new knowledge individually. • 7. Citizen Kane Meaning Kali Arellano English 12 Mr. Koehn Hour 1 Citizen Kane Analysis Citizen Kane is often criticized as one of the best movies of all time. The 1941 classic is Drama, starring Orson Welles and Dorothy Comingore. In the movie we get to see Charles Foster Kane (played by Orson Welles who also co wrote and directed film) serve to please others through fall appearances and seek attention in order to have a prosperous and wealthy life. Although Charles Foster lived the American Dream by altering his poor childhood into a lavish and affluent one, cinematography, lighting and music show the sadness and misery of Kane and Susan. The movie also takes a good look at the struggling times in the 1940s, especially for women. Some may say the film was ahead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the dialogue was clever it got a little boring and not exciting at times. It did a brilliant job at using lighting, music and cinematography to better get the message across. • 8. Freyr Research Paper The sun has been depicted as a god or an object pulled by a god throughout many mythologies. Most people may think of Helios, Apollo, or Ra when the term sun god comes up, but in Norse mythology, there is yet another god of the sun. Frey, who is also known as Freyr, is a god who is considered to be a god of the sun, among many other things. It can be said that Frey is to the Norsemen what Apollo was to the Greeks. He was one of the many deities that made up Norse mythology, and also one of the most interesting. Frey was the Norse god of the sun, rain, agriculture, fertility, and health, and an important god in the Norse culture. He was part of the group of gods called the Vanir, a peace loving tribe, and he s also an honorary member of the other tribe of Norse gods, the Aesir (McCoy). ... Frey was often symbolized by his favored boar, Golden Bristles, who pulled his sun chariot. Being the god of fertility, he is depicted, logically, with a gigantic phallus (Leeming). As the god of fertility and agriculture, farmers worshipped him and traveled with an image of Frey in their wagons. They believed this practice made their crops thrive. Many ancient Scandinavian families claimed to be descended from Frey because they thought his presence guaranteed a plentiful harvest and peace (Lindahl). As with most gods in other mythologies, there was a complex family system. Frey had a twin sister, Freya, with whom he also had a child with. • 10. Choosing To My Life By Corrie Ten Boom Any step that removes sorrow from your life is a step in the right direction. Choosing to invite happiness into your life is the journey most worthy to embark these steps on. I ve come up with three steps that justify the values of a quote from Corrie ten Boom that says, Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength. For anyone going through a sorrowful situation, a happier lifestyle is a few thoughts away. The three steps to a happier life in the midst of a sad situation is: accepting a problem for what it is, letting go of negativity, and thinking positivity. The first step to releasing worry from your life is accepting the problem you are facing. My struggle started when I learned my brother, Sam, had AML leukemia and would have to undergo chemotherapy treatments. It is important that people get the facts and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Worrying too much will not create a better tomorrow. Once a person gives up a pessimistic lifestyle, he or she can gain control over their thoughts and emotions. Letting go of negativity leaves you vulnerable to have thoughts that still may not improve your well being. You must choose to see the good in the world and find something to believe in. Personally, I believe that for every heartbreak in life, there is also something to to be rejoiced. Learning that a loved one has cancer is devastating, but seeing them heal is remarkable. Choose to have a mindset that contributes to a happy lifestyle. Learn to realize how many good opportunities a bad situation gives you. I was able to witness some events in a whole new light. For example, most people don t get to experience growing their hair back or gaining muscle back at such a fast pace. • 12. Kritios Boy Essay Created sometime around 480 BCE, the marble sculpture Kritios Boy is a significant piece of ancient Greek art. Although it was recovered in a mutilated state over one thousand years after its creation, the sculpture still manages to showcase detail of the human body in a more naturalized form than the similar pieces of art that had came before. This piece of artwork was created at a very busy time in Greek history. Greece was in the midst of a war with Persia, and Athens was a pre Socratic society that was nearing the height of interest in philosophy. With that came the quest to identify mankind s natural identity. The results of this quest was displayed in many pieces of artwork. Kritios Boy was sculpted in the figure of a human male, and was quite distinct from similar pieces of artwork of earlier Greek and Egyptian history. Kouros, from only forty five years prior to Kritios Boy, was much more closely related to the heavily idealized Egyptian sculptures like the Triad of Mycerinas. Looking up through the torso, one will see that the hips are not aligned, contributing to the more relaxed and natural stance. This showcases the progress made in the quest to represent the natural body, as it is a very common way for humans to stand. • 13. Electric Vehicles Vs. Gasoline Vehicles Essay Materials and Methods Source #1 In the first article, Electric Vehicles vs Gasoline Vehicles: A Cost and Emissions Comparison, the cost and GHG emissions of plug in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), electric vehicles (EVs), and standard gasoline cars were compared. All the numbers used in the research were based on averages in the Midwestern region of the United States, and was published June 2nd, 2011 at 10:53 a.m. Its goal was to measure how much better, or worse, any type of electric car is compared to your standard gas car. It also compared how much it costs you to drive per mile. The source believes hybrid vehicles actually hurt the environment more than it preserves. To calculate the cost per mile, they took the average power used for PHEVs per 100 miles, 35 Kwh, and multiplied that by the average cost per Kwh in residential regions, $0.11. Then, it takes into account the cost to get a charging station at your home. This really drives up the cost of electric vehicles because it cost $50 to $90 for a subscription every month. After that, the emissions per mile was calculated for all three cars by calculating the average. The regional average for hybrid cars 35 Kwh per 100 miles. It also took into account the regions power plant GHG emissions from natural gas and coal. • 16. The Theory Of Social Bonding Theory The one single theory that can explain all types of criminals or crime, all the time, anywhere is clearly Travis Hirschi s social bonding theory developed in 1969. In this theory Hirschi believes that delinquent behavior is an example that results from weak social bonds. In most cases, crime is the result that starts far before adult or even adolescent years. This is why there are four key elements to social bonding theory that range from attachment, commitment, involvement, and belief. All of these elements are key to the forming and reasoning of one s involvement in crime. Most people grow up attached to a certain figure in their lives whether it be a close person throughout their lifetime such as a neighbor, friend, family member, or in most cases a parent. As well as becoming attached, most everyone is also involved in some form of commitment and involvement through out their life. Commitment is one s commitment to society as involvement is the amount of time one is consuming taking part in legitimate activities. The last element to social bonding theory, belief, refers to a person s internalization of the laws or other social norms such as religious beliefs or what they were raised as being considered appropriate . The best true general theory of crime is based on a person s social bond that include: attachment, commitment, involvement, and belief. The first element and perhaps the most important of social bond, is attachment. According to Ryan, Testa, Fuhua (2008), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, analyzing symbols can help expand the reader s knowledge of what certain actions or evens can mean during the play. Susan Glaspell and William Shakespeare both use powerful symbols to further the plot and enhance character development. One of the first mentions is made by Mrs. Hale, when she states that Mrs. Wright used to sing real pretty herself (Glaspell 857). This further proven when Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters find the strangled bird, and Mrs. Hale points out that Mr. Wright would have never let such a creature that sang dwell in his household. Mrs. Hale implies that Mr. Wright ultimately kills anything that sings in his presence. It often contains dissolved metals as a result of the mining processes containing some toxic constituents such as lead and high levels of mercury. During severe storm events and high snowmelt periods, erosion transports a significant amount of sediments and chemicals pollutants into locals streams. Dissolved metals often settle under the stream bed and cause decreases in macroinvertebrate and benthic invertebrate populations. Metal accumulation in aquatic organisms, particularly benthic species, can also lead to acute and chronic toxicity to aquatic life [EPA 35]. In addition, research has shown a correlation between an increase in suspended solids with a decrease in density of macroinvertebrate and benthic invertebrate populations.
