2. Roller Coaster Research Paper
The theme of my roller coaster is a snake. The coaster is called the Slithering Serpent. The
materials that I used to create my roller coaster are: popsicle sticks, paper, paint, rocks from my
backyard, ribbon, a bag and a half of hot glue sticks and a sharpie.
Potential energy is created from the combination of mass, gravity, and height. Ever notice how
many roller coasters start out with a tall hill? This is meant to build as much potential energy as
possible. It s like stretching a rubber band as far as you can. The farther you stretch it, the farther it
will fly when you let go. Once your coaster gets over the hill, it then starts to gain kinetic energy.
This is the type of energy that helps to push you through whatever twists and turns

3. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Psychology
Social Psychology Assignment 1 There are 3 basic research methods that social psychologists
use to describe behaviors. Each of these have both strengths and weaknesses. The observational
method is done by observing and collecting data which is then used to describe the behavior. The
researcher observes the events in a natural setting so none of the variables are manipulated.
There must be interjudge reliability, meaning that when different researchers administer the
same test to the same subject they each must obtain the same measurement. The advantages in
this method is that it is the simplest method, it has greater accuracy, and it is useful for setting
up hypothesis. The weaknesses are that this method is hard to observe because of privacy and
secrecy. It is great for explanation but not as good for prediction and description. The observer
might also be biased being that he has his own opinion on what is right and wrong. The
correlation method focuses on prediction. It is a statistical measure of two or more variables and
the relation between them are assessed. The Correlation coefficient assesses how well you can
predict one variable from another. A positive correlation is when the value of one variable
increases it is associated with the increase of the other variable. For example height and weight,
the more one grows the more he will weigh. A negative correlation is when the value of one
variable increases it is associated with the decrease of the other

4. Information Technology for Business
Information Technology for Business 1
Information Technology for Business
Introduction
Technology has created new revenue streams via the Internet and e commerce, new connections
with clients and consumers at work, home, and by mobile applications, and enables business to
conduct commerce across the US and on a global scale (Munson, 2011). Office technologies have
advanced and have allowed business to advance to a point of doing business with global customers,
not just their own areas. It has created a communication standard that is faster and enables
businesses to conduct business at faster levels than ever before. But with new technologies
problems also arise that need to be addressed.
Types of Information Technologies The most prominent example of information technology is the
Internet with its World Wide Web component (Blackhurst, 2002). The Internet has enabled
businesses to set up website storefronts that enable consumers all over the globe to shop anywhere
on the web from anywhere they are. A customer in China can shop a website storefront in the US
without going to the US to shop the business. Education Resources Information Center (ERIC)
enables search and location of educational literature on a given topic from most of the world. This
enables business to gain employee training materials that promotes the advancement of knowledged
employees. Businesses can conduct training sessions at reduced costs. Other common types of
office technologies are the PDAs,

5. The Importance Of Freedom Of Speech
Is it possible to imagine a civil democratic society without freedom of speech? The right of speech
is one of the most valuable integrity a human being can have in this world. Precisely, this is an
opportunity given by the right to talk open minded and give opinions about particular situations.
However, what are the impacts on a total society of assuring the right of free speech?
As far as I am concerned, free speech provides a check on corrupt, inefficient leadership and
administrative personnel. Moreover, it is indirectly responsible for the higher standards of living to
the extent that free speech promotes scientific discovery and dissemination, more effective means
toward given societal goals, and more efficient governmental personnel. Some critics of free speech
may argue that it leads to political instability and revolution as well. Freedom of speech exists
mostly in democratic countries. In these particular countries politicians come into force through
disputes and discussions. However, freedom is an important section of democratic society and in
this case, it is considered as an affirmative right. If we take into account not only political life, we
have to agree with the point that freedom of speech and thoughts is crucial for growth. Again, new
ideas are born through arguments and discussions and this is the key to prosperity. Diversity of
viewpoints and opinions create conditions that are ideal for evolution, progress and development.
Indeed, there are other rights of freedom a human being can possess. Such as, freedom of press,
worship, and religion etc. The fundamental right of the freedom of press implicit in the right the
freedom of speech and expressions, is crucial for the political prosperity and proper functioning of
democracy. Freedom of press is the center of social and political bonds. It is the principal duty of
the courts to support the freedom of press and invalidate all laws or administrative actions, which
intervene with it contrary to the constitutional mandate. Though, government do not hold monopoly
for social media. A citizen has radical right to use the best means of transferring and obtaining
information and have access telecasting for the purpose. Commercial advertisements

7. Analysis Of Jay Asher s Thirteen Reasons Why
Jay Asher s book, Thirteen Reasons Why, is used to show the life of a teenager who is bullied
constantly and showing the impact of other s decisions resulting in a serve effect on people.
Jay Asher s novel, Thirteen Reasons Why, is a very suspenseful, heart wrenching story about a
teenage girl named Hannah Baker, who in the end, sadly commits suicide. Hannah Baker helps
explain her reasoning behind her choice to take her own life by narrating her story through old
cassette tapes. She invents this plan to have the cassette tapes passed around after she dies to the
people, who to Hannah, helped contribute to her pain and suffering. It is explained through those

With that attention from the Hot or Not List , Hannah finds herself being groped by a guy who
uses his popularity and manipulative ways to get away with all his inappropriate behavior. Asher
goes on to express how every other people can affect others. A direct quote from the book that
Hannah Baker expresses over one of her cassette tapes is as follows:
You don t know what goes on in anyone s life but your own. And when you mess with one part of a
person s life, you re not messing with just that part. Unfortunately, you can t be that precise and
selective. When you mess with one part of a person s life, you re messing with their entire life.
Everything...affects everything.
That quote summarizes the domino effect that happened to Hannah that lead up to her suicide.
Hannah is taken advantage of from people emotionally and physically through her high school
days. One of Asher s strengths is his character development. Asher incorporated numerous
characters into Hannah s story and made it very clear to keep up with all his characters jumping in
and out of the storyline. Since each classmate has his own reason why he affected Hannah s life
they each got their own cassette tape dedicated to them. While Hannah is telling her story through
those cassette tapes, her friend Clay Jensen is the one listening, commenting, and making sense out
of each tape. Keeping up with 13 different stories and then jumping to Clay Jensen s thoughts and

the survey was involving a small portion of the population, some data may be skewed. The
secondary data was used as a form of a guide to the survey results. It was there to ensure that the
student population was represented, even with a small sample. Forms of secondary data used
included journals, magazines, newspapers, the Internet, and other online databases. Results Age
To ensure that the entire student population was covered, the average age was calculated. The
results show an average age of 23.5 with a standard deviation of 5.5. Thus, the range of age was
reached, with one deviation ranging from 18 to 29. Gender The results of the survey show that
66.7 percent of women versus 33.3 percent of men were surveyed. The survey was slightly
skewed in this manner, but the coverage was still reached. Also, the majority of the survey was a
single crowd. 77.2% of the poll was single, compared to 22.8% being married.Musical format

11. Research Paper On Arshile Gorky
Arshile Gorky, one of the legacies in American art, created beautiful yet tragic paintings during
his lifetime. It is disappointing to imagine that his name is not well known among the abstract
expressionists, as he had so much influence and deserves to be more well recognized. In fact, I
had chosen Gorky without knowing who he was at all or what kind of artist he was. The reason
I chose Gorky for this research paper was actually because of his name since it sounded
interesting. Based on his name, I imagined Gorki would be crazy or out there , mainly because
Gorky sounds like the slang word, corky . So from that, I imagined I would find some art pieces
that were really eye popping, and not traditional. Basically, my expectations were right... Show

Even other top artists had complimented him and his work, like his good friend Willem De Kooning
who excitingly told, I met a lot of artists but then I met Gorky... He had an extraordinary gift for
hitting the nail on the head; remarkable. and Andre Breton who exclaimed that Corky s piece,
The Liver is the Cock s Comb, was one of the most important paintings in America . The reason
the public adored Gorky as well as other fellow artists was because he brought emotions to the
table, and pathos strike the public. Not only that, Gorky also brought his own style and message
to the table something similar to surrealists, but distinguished enough that he became a
prominent link between surrealists and abstract expressionists. He is a bridge of two artist
generations, and that is why he is so favorable. In my opinion, some of his artwork I can not
make sense of at all. However, he does have some great pieces, like Study for Nighttime, Enigma
and Nostalgia (1932), The Artist s Mother (1926 or 1936), and The Leaf of the Artichoke (1944).
These pieces are extremely abstract, but now that I know the history and meaning behind his work
makes it so the artwork connects with me more and that I can understand what he is trying to say
and all of the emotions he is bleeding out onto the canvas. Therefore, I believe he deserves the
respect of being one of the greatest American artists that have existed, as his accomplishments have

12. Descartes Doubt
Descartes ultimate goal in reaching his conclusions stem from the way he thought. As long as
there was no doubt to reach a conclusion, he was right; so, his process of radical doubt is fully
employed in his Meditations. Dismissing all knowledge that could be doubted however slight,
Descartes sought out to find knowledge that held absolute certainty through questioning. His
ultimate question, however, do we actually exist? How do we know? In his Meditations, one
feels that Descartes is sitting around pondering ideas, and becomes aware that he s being aware.
He is interested in this state of awareness, and notices he s thinking about something or another.
He believes or hypothesizes that either God Is (existing), and is Good, hence would not deceive
him; a bad force or entity might be trying to trick him; in either case he, Descartes, is thinking.
He believes he has some control over what he thinks; thus, God is not fooling him and an evil
force is not controlling him. So Descartes asserts, if one thinks, one has to be somebody to be
thinking, so one exists. This conclusion is brought up through a process known as radical
questioning or radical doubting; Descartes is trying to find something that cannot be found
doubtful. He decides he is (exists), and that he is neither influenced totally by either God or a
malevolent force. But how does Descartes reach these conclusions? In Meditation I and Meditation
II, Descartes also argues that our conventional experiences of the

13. Whale Rider Stereotypes
Good Morning Ms. Sheehan and classmates.
Today I will be presenting my analysis of Whale Rider. The theme I have chosen to analyse is how
Pai repeatedly demonstrates that individual strengths are more important than gender stereotypes
and in this way challenges the traditional MДЃori culture, that demands that males should be the
leaders.
This theme is illustrated throughout the movie in a number of ways, in particular: Pai is smarter
than the men, she demonstrates superior leadership qualities and she that she never dresses as a
stereotypical woman.
The first example that I will be discussing is that Pai is displayed as quite intelligent. I believe that
this is an important theme as typically, Men are portrayed smarter than women. The first scene that
illustrates Pai s intelligence is when Koro is trying to fix his boat but the rope snaps. Pai, using her
intelligence cleverly knots the rope together, so the engine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The second scene that shows Pai s intelligence is when she notices that Koro is teaching the boys
how to fight using the maori fighting art of taiaha, she cleverly persuaded her Uncle Rawiri to train
her whereas others would have simply given up.
These are both great examples of how Pai s individual strength is much more important than gender
stereotypes.
The second example that I will be examining is that Pai has better leadership qualities than the boys.
This is a very important argument as stereotypically; Women are subordinate to the men.
The first scene that portrays Pai s leadership qualities is when she finds Hemi crying about his
father abandoning him. Angered by Pai s questioning he proceeds to fight her with a traditional
MДЃori weapon called Taiaha, which Koro had been teaching the boys in preparation of becoming
the Chief.
Fortunately, Pai is not troubled by him and quickly beats him thanks to being trained by her uncle,
who was once a champion Taiaha

answering the question of whether the U.S can cause a positive impact on Nicaragua s democracy
considering that elections will be held in November this year. Ahead of said elections, Daniel

Bug Out Bag Debate: Tarp or Tent for Emergency Shelter
A bug out bag is designed for emergencies, so some inconvenience is to be expected.
When on a family outing you can carry a six or eight person cabin tent in the back of your vehicle.
Weight is not a large factor when you can pack your supplies in the cargo space of an SUV or
pickup.
When packing supplies on your back however, weight can be a deciding factor. What you think
you can carry on your back, and what you can actually carry, are two different things. Twenty
minutes hiking up and down the sidewalk with 30 to 50 pounds strapped on does not mean you
can perform the same way physically while in a crisis when walking over rough and uneven terrain
for hours at a time.
Tents
Most backpacking tents are designed for 1 to 2 people. A one person tentallows approximately 15

The Treatment Of College Athletes Need To Change
The NCAA needs to protect the overall well being of the athletes because they are the bread and

Canada s Transportation System.
Transportation is the movement of people, animals and goods from one location to another.
Transportation is the system of road transportation, rail transportation, marine transportation and air
transportation.
Transportation always played an important role in the history of Canada because of building the
railway system many provinces such as British Columbia and Prince Edward Island agreed to
join Confederation. The first Canada s railway line was built in 1836 and the first railway system
was completed and opened in 1885. November 8, 1885, the first rail train traveled across Canada
from sea to sea. There were the first steps of transportation s history of Canada.
Transportation is an essential component of the Canadian economy. The transportation s system
makes possible to Canada to trade and develop local and international businesses. Canadians like
to think of themselves as residents of an autonomous nation, but increasingly, local and national
politics are dictated by the global shipping network. Without foreign buyers of raw materials like

of the n word, what it means to the reader, and how they interpret it. Naylor wants the audience
to not only evaluate the n word, but every other word they use in their language. Naylor
describes how the word can have a positive or a negative meaning depending on the situation or
who is speaking the word. Speaker The speaker of this narrative is a black woman who does not
find concern or mortification in the use of the n word; a word that is known to put African
American s, like Naylor, to shame. Naylor also describes her past and is characterized as a young
girl who has had experience with the n word, mostly by her family. The n word had not effected
her as a child and still has not effected her today. This is present in the fourteenth paragraph when
Naylor states, I don t agree with the argument that the use of the n word at this social stratum of the
black community was an internationalization of racism. The dynamics were the exact opposite..

23. Margaret Atwood Variations On The Word Love Analysis
Throughout the anthology of Canadian poetry, there is one main theme that ties all five poems
together. A child s interpretation of love can be found within each poem despite their many
differences. The first poem found in the anthology is Variations on the Word Love by Margaret
Atwood.. In the first line, Atwood states, This is a word we use to plug / holes with . This line
accurately depicts the use of the word love in today s society. Many people use the word no
matter if they really love what they are speaking about. Though Atwood is not a child, this poem
depicts the way the world can have an effect on what once was a pure and wholesome word
when one was a child. Overall, this poem displays the transition of the meaning of love to a
person as he ages. The second poem in the anthology is The Special Person by Dennis Lee. This
poem is written from the point of view of a child at daycare and displays a child s accepting love
for his carer. As Lynn, the child s carer, reads him stories and smells good when she picks [him]
up , the child discovers his love for her (Lee 9). The child narrating the poem also states, I guess I
m going to marry Lynn , exhibiting his love for the person who takes care of him (18).Furthermore,
the child s interpretation of love is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

anger ultimately reflect their love for him. While being saved by his parents, the child states

of the world being safe and full of love is incredibly innocent as both things are not true. For a
child who is inexperienced and innocent in the world, it seems as if only love and safety exist.
While this is not true, these lines clearly illustrate the innocent love of a child. Likewise, in the
poem Through the Eyes of a Child, the second stanza

24. Pigafetta s Eater Mutiny
In 1522, the expedition led by Ferdinand Magellan that circumnavigated the entire world reached its
end. Unfortunately, most of the crew perished before the end of the expedition including Magellan.
One important event during the expedition was the mutiny against Magellan. Though Magellan
was not killed in the mutiny, the mutiny must still be investigated. The main problem is that only
two written records exist that document the expedition. One of these records was written by
Antonio Pigafetta. But is Pigafetta s account reliable? Pigafetta s account of the Eater Mutiny is
fairly valid because it is mostly factual, matter of fact, and he took his chronicling seriously. If
someone is hysterical, are you going to believe what they are saying?... Show more content on

Even if an account is emotionless, one must consider if the relevant facts are present. Pigafetta s
account does most of the relevant facts concerning the events of the voyage and the Easter
Mutiny. In order to see if these facts can be trusted, one must look for any opinions. Pigafetta s
undoubtedly had his own opinions, but he did not mention them in his account, thereby
ensuring its validity. One can tell if an account is true if it is corroborated by other sources.
Pigafetta s account is corroborated by both Documents D and E. It can be noted that Pigafetta
neglected some details about the reasoning for the mutiny out of his loyalty to Magellan, but
perhaps he did not know the exact reasoning as the men planning the mutiny would have likely
avoided speaking in front of him as they knew of his loyalty to Magellan, who they were
planning to kill and later discredit. Furthermore, Pigafetta is said to have kept the best record of
the journey in Document B. If a modern historian has said that Pigafetta s report is the best
record they have, one can assume that said report is factual and therefore reliable. In the story
about the boy who cried wolf, people stopped believing him because he was not serious.
However, this is not the case with Pigafetta s account as he took his role as a chronicler very
seriously. From the very beginning, he wrote down what was happening on board,

25. Equality Between African Americans And Women Essay
Equality as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is the quality or state of being equal : the
quality or state of having the same rights, social status, etc. This nation was founded on three
main principles, which were liberty, freedom, and equality. Though our country has struggled on
many occasions to maintain each of these principles, the hardest one to maintain seems to be that
of equality. Every human being has a desire to be seen as equal, its basic human nature. We seek
equality in every aspect of our lives, whether it is the equality of religion, race, social class, or
even gender. The inhabitants of this nation have fought for and over equality since its foundation.
Throughout this paper I would like to delve into the written works of two great minds that strove to
gain equal rights for both African Americans and women. These two individuals took it upon
themselves to achieve the seemingly impossible, and our nation is a better place due to their desire
to seek change where change was needed. Abraham Lincolnand Elizabeth Stanton used their
speeches and written works to fuel changes in this nation that are still seen today, and I can
wholeheartedly say that this nation is a better place due to their desires to seek justice for those
who were not given a voice to help themselves. This paper will show how Lincoln and Stanton used
their writings to open the eyes of this nation to the injustices that were being shown to not only
women and African Americans, but

Dairy should not be a primary food group on the dietary guidelines set by the government because
of its many negative effects on human health (given that people care about their health and the
health of those around them). Dairy and other animal products are the only food sources which
contain cholesterol. Arguments have been made saying that humans need to consume cholesterol in
order to have a healthy balance of fats; these arguments fail to acknowledge that our bodies
naturally produce all the cholesterol that it needs. And many studies have been conducted to
support the theory that consumption of dietary cholesterol overloads arteries and can cause heart
disease, artery disease, as well as sudden heart attacks. The Department of Community Health and
Preventative Medicine at Northwestern University Medical School worked to interpret an
international study based on data from the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World
Health Organization. The overall conclusion was that ...dietary cholesterol levels are consistently
related to CHD (coronary heart disease) mortality rates (Stamler). A study conducted by Lena
Ohlsson at the Laboratory of Gastroenterology and Nutrition within the prestigious Lund

28. Ernest Van Den Haag s In Defense Of Capital Punishment
Capital punishment has been a hot topic for quite some time now. In earlier times it was merely a
way to punish as well as an attempt to deter members of society from committing heinous crimes. In
the last century we have actively monitored the effects of capital punishment, and this has revealed
the truth. It is for these reasons capital punishmentis not morally acceptable. In this paper I shall
argue that capital punishment is immoral. In Furman v. Georgia we find a landmark case in which
the legality of capital punishment is exposed. Judges Stewart, White, and Douglas found the death
penalty to be immoral given the arbitrary forces involved. ( Furman v. Georgia ) They believed
this was causing a higher number of minorities specifically blacks to be subjected to... Show more

One such person is Ernest Van Den Haag the author of In Defense of Capital Punishment. He
argues there is no expressed or valid reasons for removing capital punishment in murder cases, and
even expresses his support for the arbitration used in capital punishment. (Van Den Haag) He also
argues on the basis of the 5th amendment which states nobody shall be Deprived of life, liberty,
or property without due process of law. This implying the judicial system is in no way breaching
the 14th because it to reiterates the importance of the 5th, and as long as the defendant is provided
due process capital punishment is in fact fair. (Van Den Haag) He then backs the moralityfactor by
stating if it were immoral the general public would be against it and we would see less and less
people receiving the death penalty yet we do not. On top of this the morality of capital
punishment can be backed up by the Utilitarian moral theory given the fact removing murderers
benefits the larger group or the non criminals and also backs up Van Den Haag s claims about the
general public. Though these are solid reasons they lack the depth of a solid

29. My Trip To The Great Smoky Mountains
It was the middle of the day, but the sky was a darker blue than usual and there were a few stars
out. It was a bit chilly despite being a clear day in August. The mountains I saw ahead were too
dark to be distinguishable from one another. For that brief minute, the sun had disappeared. Seeing
the total solar eclipsewas the best experience of my summer and one of the best experiences of
my life. My family and I went to go see it in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee.
I had been really excited for this moment because of how long I d been anticipating it. Plus I d been
to the Great Smoky Mountains before and I really enjoyed being there, so I was looking forward to
going back.
A great aspect about this day was that I was on Clingman s Dome, the highest mountain in the
park, and it was one of the best places to see the eclipse because there was a beautiful view of the
park from up there and the eclipse was not blocked out by clouds, unlike other places along the path
of totality.
My family purchased tickets ahead of time to get up there because it was going to be closed off
on the day of the eclipse to prevent it from being too crowded. We arrived at the parking lot early
where they were loading up the coach buses to go up the mountain and we made it on the first
bus and there we received our solar glasses. The glasses felt like cheap paper glasses, but they had a
solar filter in them that allowed me to look at the sun without hurting my eyes. We were lucky to
have these glasses because when the eclipse was coming near, solar glasses were in very high
demand and a lot of people had trouble getting them.
The ride up to the mountain took about twenty minutes and it was kind of scary because of how
high we were, but I saw some amazing scenery of the Smokies while going up so it wasn t too
bad. Once the bus reached the top of the mountain, I saw the landscape of mountains stretched
out ahead as far as the eye could see. While up on the mountain, people working for NASA had
activities going on and were even handing out solar glasses. Everyone in my family grabbed some
NASA solar glasses because they might be more reliable than the glasses we were given previously
and they would make a neat souvenir.

30. Reflective Essay On Service Learning
Service learning is always viewed as being something you just have to do. If you want a good
grade, then you do it, but you rush through it because you don t appreciate the opportunity. I used
to think about it that way because it seemed like it was just wasting my time. However, I ve
discovered that the older I get, the more I analyze things, whether it be school work or general life
questions. Over the summer, I had an abundance of time to think things through and work out
everything in my mind. I believe that service learningcan help you realise your passion as it did
with me. I volunteered at Martin Millennium to help clean up their campus and revitalize the Earth
on which their school stands. I spread mulch in areas of dry soil and around the playground, so the
kids could play without fear of hurting themselves. We spread the mulch around the trees and by the
walkways. I volunteered at the Tender Merciespet organization as well. I helped feed the dogs and
walk them outside. I did the daily routine of washing food bowls and dog blankets too. During my
time volunteering at Tender Mercies, I learned that no matter how many times you think you ve
seen it all, you will always find something to amaze you. I ve previously said that over the the

Moreover, in The Wind in the Willows, the idea that journey can lead to transformation of self, and

Toad believes that adventure is the only means of fulfilling and experiencing a real animalistic life;
That s real life for you, embodied in that little cart . The cart is symbolic of Toad s ambitious nature,
which is manifested through his jubilant tone and positive attitude in response to change and
adventure. This optimistic view on journey proves that transformation of self and rich experiences
is attained by undertaking journey. Toad illustrates an image of journey as being something life
changing; Travel, change, interest, excitement! The whole world before you and a horizon that s

emphasizes how adventure can lead to richer experiences . Additionally the metaphoric phrase of
the changing horizon represents Toad s intention of adventure and acceptance of and fearfulness of
change. Subsequently, because of Toad s optimistic and accepting perspective on journey, the quote

33. The Sandman By E. T. A Literary Analysis
The perplexing short story, The Sandman by E.T.A. Hoffman, conveys an unsettling dark tale about
a man struggling with the effect of a traumatic childhood experience. Hoffman delivers an
imaginatively chilling portrayal of the looming consequences adolescent perception can have on
adult life. Studies have shown that childhoodtrauma may harmfully affect the brain structure and
cause children to be at risk for psychiatric disorders later in life (Bergeron 1). Similarly, this idea is
shown in Hoffman s tale as the main character Nathaniel plunges repeatedly into despair and
madness because of the fear introduced in his youth. Although childhood fears may not always be

Nathaniel, who enjoyed the moments before bed in the company of his father, associated the
Sandman with the unwelcoming separation from his father. Soon after, his sister s nanny teasingly
tells of a darker story about the wicked Sandman, who gouges the eyes out of children who will
not go to sleep, feeding their eyes to his own kids (Hoffman 2). Furthermore, his own imaginings
about the Sandman continued to grow strong. Nathaniel s fear grew more intense when he believes
his father is murdered by Coppelius, whom he believes to be the evil Sandman. Expressively,
Hoffman s story illustrates the power of perception and the dangers of subtle progression. Imposing
threats help to create harmful visualizations. Children are especially taunted by fears and
environmental influences and may silently cope with things they do not fully understand.
Clara is disturbed after she reads the letter meant her brother Lothaire. For this reason, she replies
to Nathaniel to eagerly express her astute insight and discerning opinion into the probable cause of
Nathaniel s affliction; his memories had not been real, but merely misguided by his own

section (B), tends to contrast dramatically with the first and third sections. Clair de Lune is also
extended by a coda which has been composed using material originating from the second section
(B). The piece mostly continues in the tonic, modulating only in bars 37 42. This means that the

First section (A): Bar 1 26
Second Section (B): Bar 27 50
Third Section (A) + Coda: Bars 51 72

Clair de Lune is in D flat major and begins with a tonic chord, excluding the tonic note. It is

chord I is supported by the left hand for the first four opening bars. This creates a chord a bar

repeated, this time including some changes, such as harmonic substitutions and decorations. The F
and A flat interval is then reintroduced with ascending octaves. This phrase is then finished in bar

41. Economic Inequality, Inequality And Inequality
According to the OECD, the term inequality in the opposite of equity can be defined as evenness or
fairness within the social, political, and economic perspectives. Equity forms the core value of both
the western democratic tradition and religions. From the concept of equality, inequality can be
described as unfair or uneven treatments of the people within the society or unequal distribution of
resources, income, and other factors between different sectors in the society. Inequality can be
defined as the unfair or uneven conditions within the society, where some people control more
wealth, money, opportunities, income, as well as political favoritism than others (Stiglitz, 2013).
For some reasons, economists have included economic background of the people in the society as
another form of equality. Inequality comes in different forms: The different types of inequalities are
political inequality, inequality of outcome, economic inequality, Social inequality, and inequality of
opportunity (Clark 2015).
First, political inequality can be defined using either distributional or interdependency approaches.
With respect to distributional approach, political inequality is defined as structured differences
within the society in the acquisition and distribution of political resources. On the other hand,
interdependency approach defines this type of inequality as the influences that a person or persons

Trade barriers are the ways that governments or public are familiarizing to make imported goods
or services less economical than locally produced goods and services. For an American company
to make an exchange and enter the Asian sector, they need to identify which country they would
like to establish their business and to identify the trade barriers for that exact country. There are
several barriers such as government imposed barriers are the ones that are connected to import
regulations, import quotas, tariffs and product specifications. Invincible trade barriers were linked
to cultural and social conditions or on the government s policy. The visible trade barriers were
linked to the concern of tariff and non tariff barriers. Tariff barriers were related to high and low
tariff rates of certain goods but non tariff barriers were related to quotas, norms and consumer
protection measures.
U.S firms need to understand certain types of the Asian market such as employment relationships
and the different kinds of cultures. The host country factors included the government s restrictions
on foreign direct investment (FDI), lower protections of intellectual property and the cost of land.
The barriers for internationalization may impact a

43. On Being Brought From Africa To America Summary
The Clever Meaning: Phillis Wheatley s On Being Brought from Africa to America *Phillis
Wheatley s On Being Brought from Africa to America is a cleverly ironic and heavily sarcastic
poem on Phillis wheatley s journey through her time in slavery. Written in a AABBCCDD rhyme
scheme which creates a focus on each couplet. Each rhyme couplet in On Being Brought from
Africato America is used to show the irony forced on her and her race. *For example, in the first
couplet Phillis stats how she was brought from Pagan lands. The way the line is written it is easy
to assume she is referring to her history. However, Phillis Wheatleyuses the word brought instead of
bought, referring to the transformation from Pagan to Christianity and not slavery.... Show more

This line shows her happiness of being in America, but her happiness is based on that she found
divine mercy in Christianity, and God. Phillis Wheatley even refers in the second half of the
couplet that her life before she was brought to America as benighted . Benighted in the means of
being overtaken by sin and darkness. The imagery of darkness symbolized here by the word
benighted is very intentional. Being well aware that the darkness of her skin is an excuse for
white people to judge her moral character. *In the second couplet; That there s a God, that there s
a Saviour too: Once I redemption neither sought nor knew. Phillis dissociate the moral darkness
from her physical appearance. She no longer believes in people s pagan religion. She now
believes in God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Even though, she states that to call her sinful for the life
she once lived is pointless. She never sought redemption in Christianity because she never knew
she had sinned. The irony of this couple is when it is compared to the first. For instance, In the
time slaves were seen as innately

44. Elementary Secondary Education Act Of 1965 And Its...
Education is valued as one of the most important aspects of socio economic group mobilization and
social elevation in the United States. Operating under a human capital ideology education in the
U.S. is a means to provide education to individuals in an effort for continued economic
advancement for our nation. However, as times change educationfails to completely change with it.
Secondary educationis no longer seen as a means to earning financial stability. Primary education
encompasses complexity of issues that still remain to be addressed wholly. With the creation of the
U.S. Constitution states are given power to construct education. Educational reform continues to be
complex with ever changing politicians and platforms failing to have the time to create long lasting
systematic changes but also not fully grasp educational challenges collectively. Educational reform
such as Elementary Secondary Education Act of 1965 and its versions No Child Left Behind Act
and Every Child Succeeds Act 2015 has changed the way students learn and teachers teach. The
need for continued educational innovations is of the utmost importance. We as a society continue to
strive for creating organizational policies and pedagogies that not only enhance research but a allow
for a greater society understanding and applicability to enhance education for millions.
Innovation is a term I ve frequently heard in the realm of business and technology implying new

45. The Poisonwood Bible in the European Conquest in Africa
The European conquest in Africa reinforced the notion of seizing seemingly primitive nations
occupied by natives whose culture and lifestyle must be rationalized and modified to fit the
standards of a modern country. Following the post World War II era came the opportunity for the
world s most powerful nations to make a significant impact on a war torn world. The two super
power nations of the time, the United States and the Soviet Union, craved to influence vulnerable
and poverty ridden nations like Africa as these natives were easily to manipulate. A desire to
spread and influence western ideology, specifically Christianity, to rural nations is depicted in
Barbra Kingsolver s novel The Poisonwood Bible. Kingsolver portrays an American missionary
Reverend Price and his family as they attempt to spread and make a significant impact on the
people of the Belgian Congo, whom the Reverend describes as a place where he can save needy
souls . American intervention in the Congo highlights few of the many results of attempting to
revive a nation ridden of post colonial damage, including the fusion of two cultures, the abuse of
political power and, international perception and relations. The clashing of cultures appears through
the numerous attempts the Price children take to adapt to their new political and social
environment, including adapting to the language, routine life and cultural traditions. Illustrating the
differences of what Americans and the Congolese do during

47. The Shortcomings of the Articles of Confederation
The years following the American Revolution, better known as the Critical Period, were some of
the most vulnerable moments in the extensive history of the United States. The Critical Period is
infamous for a post war recession, disorganization and competition of states, as well as a total lack
of unity about the nation. The Articles of Confederation, ratified during the onset of this tumultuous
period, added new dimension to early Americans idea of national government. The Articles formed
a loosely united country under a highly restricted federal government. This apparent aversion of
strong central government was rooted in the former colonists fear of a sequel to their monarchial
horror that was England. Some believe that the Articles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Five years earlier, in a letter from the Rhode Island Assembly to Congress the assembly concluded
that taxation on imported goods creates inequality between the commercial and the agrarian
societies of America (Document 1). The Rhode Island Assembly brings up the idea that state
governments were allowed to tax freely without congressional regulation, while Congress posed to
levy importation taxes geared towards the Northern, more commercial part of America. This letter
speaks to the injustices of taxation, and taxation was the main reason for Shays s Rebellion. Shays s
Rebellion caused that unjust and disorganized means of taxation further exemplifies the failure that
was the Articles of Confederation. The final reason why the Articles of Confederation created an
ineffective government is inadequate foreign affairs. Prior to the revolution, the thirteen colonies
were not united as they did not need to be they were all there for the purpose and betterment of
Great Britain. As the colonists won their independence, almost every state began producing a
different type of currency, untracked and unregulated by the new federal government. This total
disunity left the states in competition over exports with one another. This competition left the
country as a whole weak, and other countries perception of us the same. In the table that compares
the value of exports to Great Britain to the population of the nation displays

48. Is The Difference Between Henry David Thoreau And E. B. White
Walden Pond, located in Concord, Massachusetts, was a place of inspiration for two well known
authors, Henry David Thoreau and E.B. White. Although, they wrote about the same place, their
experiences were a century apart. Thoreau visited the lake in 1854 where technology still wasn t
as advanced as it was in 1939 when White visited the historical site leading to a different feel for
the place. The authors style of approaching the view of the lake has both similar and different
effects when using point of view, imagery, and logos. In comparison, Thoreau and White use the
first person point of view in their writings, but in contrast they do not have same writing style.
Thoreau writes about his surroundings and writes with serenity. With many details he describes
how the forest brings calm to your soul and you feel connected to God and there is nothing to
really care for. He writes without a real purpose, it seems as if he is rambling to the audience about
his thoughts and feelings indicating them that they should live in simplicity. Thoreau has no real
interest in convincing his audience to go live in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thoreau s main message in the story was that humans are supposed to live a simple life and that
getting closer to nature would help the human race reach that simplicity in life. He compares us as
mad ants that are always busy, rushing and we always have something to do. Thoreau goes into
details when he describes the mountains and the morning dew and his morning routines and with
the vivid vision he connects it all back to serenity. White, on the other hand, uses imagery to
describe how technology has advanced since Thoreau had been there. He informs Thoreau that
Walden Pond had become the states property and there are signs all over the site such as no
swimming in the pond and that the pond now had water fountains and people would take their
boats to the

49. Research Paper On Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution is the collective term for a pair of revolutions in Russia in 1917, which
dismantled the Tsarist autocracy and led to the eventual rise of the Soviet Union. The Russian
Empire collapsed with the abdication of Emperor Nicholas II, and the old regime was replaced by
a provisional government during the first revolution of February 1917 (March in the Gregorian
calendar; the older Julian calendar was in use in Russiaat the time). In the second revolution that
October, the Provisional Government was removed and replaced with a Bolshevik (Communist)
government.

Provisional Government chose to continue fighting the war with Germany, the Bolsheviks and

substantial control.[1]
In the October Revolution (November in the Gregorian calendar), the Bolshevik party, led by
Vladimir Lenin, and the workers Soviets overthrew the Provisional Government in Petrograd and
established the Russian SFSR, eventually shifting the capital to Moscow in 1918. The Bolsheviks

Moving forward, being able to strongly indicate our results through use of the mean and standard
deviation is incredibly useful to show the central tendency and how the information correlates
between trials. The percentage error will also be a beneficial tool in showing how accurate and
appropriate the trial process went. This lab was also a strong introduction into using Xcel, in terms
of generating graphs and adapting to different functionalities. Although this lab felt somewhat
simulated, I felt as if it were a great starting point for setting up future labs, in terms of formatting
and depicting which information is deemed useful.
B. Results
The results of the study show the difference between five trials of one single object fall from a
constant distance. The other dependent variable in this experiment was the time in which the
object was measured (.5, .75, 1.0, 1.25 seconds). This variable serves as a checkpoint; every time
the object reaches one of these time slots, its distance in meters (the independent variable) was
measured. It is clear in every trial that the object gains momentum, and as each quarter of a second
passes, the distance the object has fallen increased exponentially. In each trial, the distance between
1.00 second and 1.25 second nearly doubled, which was much more significant than the

Due to new and advanced technologies and innovative manufacturing developments, many
companies in 2016 are using online computer aided system or software to produce custom output
for many online products that they sell. It is a place where customers can customize what they
want through their e commerce websites before they buy. Joseph Pine said that it is the process
of developing, producing, and delivering affordable goods and services with enough variety so
everyone can find exactly what they want. A place that customers can individualize and
personalize a merchandise before purchase. Moreover, the customization can range from
different colors and flavors to sizes and shapes, or logos to characters and numbers. For example,
a customer can add different RAM sizes to his or her MacBook. They can also add a logo or
name to a t shirt or personalize their shoes with different colors and designs. There are many
variations and flexibilities when it comes to online mass customization. Customers can design their
own shoes and have them delivered within a few weeks through the Nikewebsite. The Nike iD
system is easy to use. The process begins with choosing the unique style or icon. Then the
customers can choose the colors and patterns of the upper sole, underlay, swoosh, flywire, laces,
midsole, and text/graphics. The options are endless. It is a true inspiration and amazing experience
for anyone who wants individualization and personalization. The biggest downsides to this
