Accounting Career Research Paper
I am an accountant at Christensen Financial where I have been employed for the past nine years. I
have been in the accounting field for the past fifteen years and it happened by accident. I did not
choose to be an accountant however through various jobs it chose me and I took the ball and ran with
it. In my youth, I did not have an end goal regarding a career, I just knew I wanted a job that could
give me the opportunity to move out of my parent s home and allow me to take care of myself. As I
started working I was able to advance from a job to a career, using each opportunity as a stepping
stone, I went from cashier to accounts receivable specialist, to office manager/bookkeeper, to land at
Christensen Financial as their accountant. It was validating to learn that my personality type of ISTJ,
which stands for Introverted, Senor, Thinker, Judgers, is in line with accounting ... Show more content

After high school I went straight to work and I did not continue with college until years later when I
was working at Christensen Financial. I knew I loved what I was doing and I was making a decent
wage doing it however I was in fear of the unknown and not having the extra layer of protection of
having my Bachelor s Degree to stand out from others, if I was to ever be in the job market again. I
never want to be told we cannot hire you as you do not have the education requirements. After taking
GEB 3003 class I am glad I have decided to obtain my Bachelor s Degree, as I realize how hard it is to
be in the market competing with so many candidates especially with how far technology has advanced
and how it continues to advance. I have chosen to stay the course and continue in the accounting
industry and I feel this would be a great career choice for others because there are many opportunities
which I have learned including the ability to grow your career beyond a Bachelor s Degree, stability
with great working conditions, and an excellent

Vimy Ridge
Canada transpired from the First World War as a dignified triumphant nation with a new prestige in
the world. The battle of Vimy Ridge united the individuals of Canada to pursue a common cause,
leading to victory and the establishment of the battle as a defining event in Canadian history; the
conquest of Vimy would progress into the making of a fully independent and confederate country.
When Canada became visible The battle of Vimy Ridge was the coming of age as a nation for Canada
because it was one of the first times that all four divisions of the Canadian Corps came in union. Early
Canadian nationalism developed due to the greater number of men who fought the battle were all
varying races of Canadian citizens. The soldiers participating were widespread, coming from a variety
of places as the prairie farms, West, East coast and central Canada. When the recruitment for soldiers
began a surprisingly immersive amount of ordinary individuals volunteered, Anglophone, ... Show

No other allied operations were as thoroughly planned and coordinated as ours to succeed in capturing
Vimy, since the Ridge was so well fortified all attempts to capture it failed ultimately except ours.
Canadians soldiers trained exceptionally under the surveillance of Arthur Currie commander of the
First Canadian Division. Preparations were complex; to thoroughly understand and prepare for every
stage of the warfare a replica of Vimy had been built representing every inch for implementation at the
authentic Vimy Ridge on Easter Monday. Most historians accounted that Major General Currie was
tolerant, diligent and had significant faith in his men. The weeks of practice, accumulate of weapons
and hard work finally paid off. In a matter of five days the Canadian Corps had captured all of Vimy
Ridge. The Icy, snow covered ridge may have been impregnable for the debilitated but not for a
powerful determined nation like the

Bayberry Candles Essay
Candles have cast a light on man s progress for centuries. However, there is very little known about
the origin of candles. Although it is often written that the first candles were developed by the Ancient
Egyptians who used rushlights, or torches, made by soaking the pithy core of reeds in molten tallow,
the rushlights had no wick like a candle. It is the Romans who are credited with developing the wick
candle, using it to aid travelers at dark, and lighting homes and places of worship at night.
Like the early Egyptians, the Roman s relied on tallow, gathered from cattle or sheep suet, as the
principal ingredient of candles. It was not until the Middle Ages when beeswax, a substance secreted
by honey bees to make their honeycombs, was introduced. Beeswax candles were a marked
improvement over those made with tallow, for they did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, extracting the wax from the bayberries was extremely tedious. As a result, the popularity of
bayberry candles soon diminished.
The growth of the whaling industry in the late 18th century brought the first major change in
candlemaking since the Middle Ages, when spermaceti, a wax obtained by crystallizing sperm whale
oil, became available in quantity. Like beeswax, the spermaceti wax did not elicit a repugnant odor
when burned. Furthermore, spermaceti wax was found harder than both tallow and beeswax. It did not
soften or bend in the summer heat. Historians note that the first standard candles were made from
spermaceti wax.
It was during the 19th century when most major developments affecting contemporary candlemaking
occurred. In 1834, inventor Joseph Morgan introduced a machine which allowed continuous
production of molded candles by the use of a cylinder which featured a movable piston that ejected
candles as they

can set up special systems to improve flow of information. One of Sainsbury s aims is to make

Disadvantages would be that all staff would not be able to communicate back to manage in terms that
all staff cannot answer back to the decision that has already decided. Also the paths for promotion are
less well defined as there are fewer levels compared to hierarchical structure.
Objectives in which Sainsbury s hope to gain while using the flat organisational structure is that where
there is one line of communication between the manager and the operational staff it is easy for work to
be done and messages which are important or not that given on time and correctly whether they are
written or verbal. The culture in which Sainsbury s use is power culture which on performance would
show that Sainsbury s has done well in the culture in which they use as the performance of Sainsbury s
has become very well known as they are well known nationwide and the performance of the workshop
floor is that of a good standard as all Sainsbury s restaurants are well organised between the
employees on the shop floor as everything runs smoothly.
The disadvantages of this culture for Sainsbury s are that if there is a miscommunication between the
manager and its employees then problems could occur when work is happening. Also employee may
get fed up with trying to impress and will be less motivated than if they where treated equally on a
level where they are respected and are not

Resilience In Through The Tunnel
Throughout a person s life, they are faced with many different kinds of adversity. The only way to
overcome this adversity is through resilience. Being resilient is one of the best attributes a person can
have because when one is resilient they never give up.
Resilience is the epitome of overcoming the unexpected and achieving one s goals no matter what
may stand in your way.In the story Through The Tunnel by Doris Lessing, the author reveals that
when one perseveres, they can meet their goals and overcome adversity. She says One, Two, Three.

Gertrude s Treatment Of Female Characters In Hamlet
In the contemporary world of today, women are allowed to express their feelings, thoughts and they
have unlimited amount of freedom, however during William Shakespeare s time women were not
allowed to act on stage as men were the ones who played the roles of women. In William Shakespeare
s play, Hamlet the female characters are characterized with very little roles, however they directly or
indirectly influence the actions by the men in their lives. Literary and historical scholars conclude that
women were not interested political, economic, or social equality with men during this time in history.
In the play the female characters are restricted in a patriarchal society as they are portrayed firstly as
weak, secondly as obedient and lastly as dependent. These characters include, Gertrude who is the
queen of Denmark, and Ophelia who is the love interest of Hamlet. The play revolves around the
theme of revenge and how these women had a big influence in the plot of the play. Firstly, Gertrude is

female character in the play and this can be seen when Ophelia obeys all the men in her lives such as
Polonius, Laertes and Hamlet. For example, Ophelia stays away from Hamlet since her father and

United States Legal Analysis Of The Hague Convention
When there is evidence that the wellbeing of a child would be endangered by a parent then sole or
singular custody should be the preference over joint custody, also when there is proof that a parent has
been abused and flees with a child that child should not be returned to the abusive parent. Over the
years the U.S. has changed it procedure concerning grave risk of harm regarding Hague cases and
found it not in the child s best interest to be ordered to return to a domestic violence situation without
a full investigation of the nature of the abuse and of the likelihood that the authorities in the country to
which the children are being returned will indeed fully protect them and their abused mother . [1]
The U.S. Department of States Legal Analysis of the Hague Convention (51 Fed. Reg. 10494 (1986))
prepared for the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations to which the Convention was referred,
confirms the intention that Article 13 was intended to be afforded a narrow interpretation. In this
regard the State Department stated that the drafters were aware that any exceptions had to be drawn
very narrowly lest their application undermine the express purposes of the Convention to effect the
prompt return of abducted children; that it was generally believed that courts would understand and
fulfill the objectives of the Convention by narrowly interpreting the exceptions that Article 13(b) was
not intended to be used by defendants as a vehicle to litigate (or relitigate) the

The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish (Creation Epic) Essay
The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish
The Enuma Elish, often known as The Creation Epic, is often considered the primary source of
Mesopotamian cosmology. However, to view the Enuma Elish as a cosmological myth obscures the
true intent of the epicís author. The cosmological elements of the Enuma Elish are secondary to the
authorís effort to explain the supremacy of Marduk, to justify absolute oriental monarchy, and to
defend Babylon as the axis mundi.
The Enuma Elish was composed in Babylonin the early second millennium B.C.E. The decay of
Sumerian civilization allowed the Old Babylonian Empire to become the cultural and political center
of Mesopotamia. Babylon was governed by absolute and despotic kings capable of wielding ... Show

Furthermore, the transfer of power to Babylon is illustrated by the subjugation of all gods to the rule
of Marduk. After erecting a throne for Marduk, the gods proclaim, Thou art (the most) important of
the great gods; Thy destiny is unequaled, thy command is (like that of) AnuÖTo thee we have given
kingship over the totality of the whole universe ( Enuma Elish, 36). This statement reflects the reality
of the times. During the writing of the Enuma Elish the Old Babylonian Empire weilded supreme
power in Mesopotamia.
Moreover, the recognition Mardukís absolute rule is etiological in relation to the power of the
Babylonian kings. According to Assyriologist Benjamin Foster, the Enuma Elish explains the
evolution from early government by elders to absolute monarchy. As the battle between Marduk and
Tiamat illustrates, Foster notes the catalyst for this change is portrayed as outside threat calling for a
war leader. The leader demanded, as his terms for leadership, absolute obedience, even when the
threat of war was removed (Foster, 9).
Once the writer of the Enuma Elish set forth the supremacy of the Babylonian God and the precedent
for earthly monarchy, he/she turned to the task of translating divine superiority to earthly. The process
of translating divine power to earthly power begins on line 50 of Tablet IV of the Enuma Elish.
Grateful for Mardukís leadership, the gods construct the

Effects Of Martial Law In The Philippines
On September 21, 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos issued Proclamation 1081, declaring martial law
over the Philippines. It has been 44 years since that dreadful day, but the scars still remain in the heart
of every Filipino citizen. Martial Law proclaims that an area is placed under the control of the Armed
Forces of the Philippines. It is usually imposed when the government or civilian authorities fail to
function effectively. The reason behind the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines was to
suppress a series of bombings, threat of a communist takeover, and an assassination attempt on
Secretary of Defense Juan Ponce Enrile in Mandaluyong. This was also imposed to save the republic
and to improve the social, economic, and political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, these good gains did not last long. Basic human rights were not attained during the Martial
Law. People at that time did not practice being disciplined at that time, but instead, they followed
orders because they feared the authorities who had the power to arrest civilians who would disobey
the rules. With power given to the military to save democracy, they committed a number of human
rights violations. An estimate of 7,000 victims of torture, 2,000 people salvaged, and 1,000 people
disappeared. (Malanes, 1999) Statistics are not just numbers. This was a serious case of human rights
violation wherein thousands of lives were lost and thousands of families destroyed. Thus, the Martial
Law is considered as the darkest days of democracy. Human rights violations is the best evidence that
there was no democracy in the Philippines during Ferdinand Marcos regime. Additionally, the
economic crisis and debt crisis caused by the Martial Law made the country suffer. Unemployment
rates were high and poverty in the Philippines only grew larger. A lot of people remember fondly the
peace and order brought by the Martial Law, but the brutal side of the Marcos regime brought us
Filipinos into hardships, sufferings, and

suicide have been associated to Prozac by some groups, most believe there is no direct correlation

Essay On Kettle Bottom
In the book Kettle Bottom there are three sections divided, with several different narrators. The
narrators appear and disappear throughout the book. One of the poems stood out, which pertained an
exchange of letters between two sisters. During this time period women were often disregarded, and
were looked down upon. Fisher including the women in Kettle Bottom, displays her gratitude and how
she is sympathetic towards the women. Throughout Kettle Bottom, there is a collection of poems titled
My Dearest Hazel. The My Dearest Hazel collection was the most intriguing to me as it included the

I believe that the Appalachian women were exhilarating and independent women, that should have
never been overlooked, just as it is displayed. I found this piece so interesting as Fisher dug deeper
into the women, making them appear more in depth. In the second appearance of My Dearest Hazel,
the sister is writing to Hazel, following up with her. At this point her sister has observed that Hazel is
pregnant and it is also now known to the readers that Hazel married Turely. As her sister stated, I
afeared that s what it was, Hazel, when I see you at the wedding, looking so pale and peaked. Her
sister explains her fear for Hazel and that most people are stuck living in tents. Her fear is that she will
end up living the same. Her sister states, You get ready, honey / Cart all your canned goods up to
Momma s, your quilts, / your pretty dishes them Baldwin Felts / break things up when they put people
out / and you will need / to hang onto whatever you can (Fisher, 27).
The chance Turly not surviving from working in the coal mine, and the fear of marriage not working
with a child makes Hazel s sister concerned. She wants Hazel to cherish the things she already has,
before she loses then. I found this poem so intriguing as Hazel s pregnancy was not something
celebrated but something feared. Pregnancy is typically an exciting time for a woman, but in this
situation was something not recommended. The last poem in the

Predestination Essay
Predestination
Predestination, in the dictionary, is said to be the doctrine that God in consequence of his
foreknowledge of all events infallibly guides those who are destined for salvation. Scripture has 2 very
good passages for defining what predestination is: Jeremiah 1:5 which says Before I formed you in the
womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
God is talking about Jeremiah in this passage and how God chose him before time; he was predestined
for his job. Romans 8:28 30 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love

That God decreed to leave some in the common misery and not to bestow on them living faith and the
grace of conversion. Calvin also believes that God predestined everything for everything that it does,
such that God predestined me to be writing this report right now for my religion class, so that this isn t
my own free will but it was God s set plan for me. Zanchius, a Reform Theologian, writes that there is
most certainly a double predestination and gives passages to prove through God s Word that there is
no other way. II Cor. 4:3 If our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. I Peter 2:8
They stumble because they disobey the message which is also what they were destined for. II Peter
2:12b #8230;They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed,
and like beasts they too will perish. Jude 1:4a For certain men who were marked out for condemnation
long ago have secretly slipped among you. He concludes his arguments by saying that God could not
erase a name that has been placed in the book of life or add a name because it was from eternity. He
quotes Luther with, This is the very thing that razes the doctrine of free will from its foundation, to
wit, that God s eternal love of some men and hatred of others is immutable and cannot be reversed.
The truth about predestination is that God gives man a free will that he doesn t take control of or
manipulate. So an unbeliever has a choice, he can either accept

The Environmental Protection Agency ( Epa )
We live in a world where synthetic chemicals are routinely used for the production of essential
components of modern life. As more research emerges correlations are made, chemicals are tested,
and toxicants are identified, reengineered, and replaced with others equal in cause but unequal in
effect. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the national authority tasked with this dynamic
approach. The EPA defines hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) as pollutants that are known or suspected
to cause cancer or other serious health effects, such as... damage to the immune system, as well as
neurological, reproductive... developmental, respiratory and other health problems (About Air Toxics,

also called stack air are emissions that occur through confined air streams such as stack, vent, ducts, or
pipes (Release Reports, 2015). This paper will hereafter discuss HAPs in Boulder, Colorado where I
was born. Boulder County is home to an estimated 313,333 people with a median age of 28.7.
Furthermore, 5% of people are below age 5, 20.3% are below age 18, and 12.2% of people are 65 or
older. There are 405.6 people per square mile but that number jumps to 3987.4 in city limits. 90.8% of
the population is white. 2.42 people on average occupy any given home, the median household
income is $67,956 and 14.2% of people are living below poverty. Lastly, 11.23% of people are
uninsured (State and County Quick Facts, 2015). Boulder is over 5300 feet above sea level with an
arid, sunny climate. The Rocky Mountains provide a backdrop that beckons residents to explore either
by skiing, biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing, or more. Toluene is the seventh largest fugitive air

Economic Crisis In The United States
The near collapse of the financial system in the United States was the most substantial economic crisis
in the U.S. since the Great Depression of the 1920s and 1930s. Since the crisis began in late 2007,
more than 6 million Americans had lost their jobs, large and important financial institutions failed, and
trillions of dollars in savings and retirement accounts had been lost. It is generally accepted that
problems in the United States housing market are at the root of the current United States and global

financial crisis, some questions had formed. Are the credit losses behind us? So far it seems that our
economy could see more problems with residential real estate. The chance that shocks related to
commercial real estate, industrial loans, and consumer credit cards could arise and cause an even
worse problem. If the U.S. markets experience losses in any of these areas similar to what was
experienced, the problems could resurface. When did the job markets recover? In June of 2009, the
national unemployment rate stood at 9.5% with 14.7 million Americans unemployed^^. With the rate
of unemployment so high, many consumers would not have had the funds to pay for mortgage and
credit card obligations. Consumer spending accounts for about two thirds^^ of the GDP(What is the

one sees women and children that are homeless. The Cornerstone Rescue Mission Women and
Children Home in Rapid City, South Dakota addresses this need in this particular community. They
serve pregnant women, single women, Veteran women, girls under the age of 18 with their mother,
and boys under the age of 16 with their mother. A community assessment was completed on this
population to identify strengths and their particular needs; interventions were then done based on these
needs.

How To Become A Tattoo Machine
Now that tattoos have become such a popular thing among people of all ages, it is becoming difficult
to find somebody who does not have a tattoo. Due to the fact that they are now mainstream, each day
more people have ambitions to become a tattoo artist. Most people who decide they want to learn how
to tattoo think the best way to learn is to purchase their very own tattoo machine, and it has become
very easy and very inexpensive to buy one.
If you are planning to buy yourself a tattoo machine and teach yourself how to be a tattoo artist, it is
essential that you understand more about how the tattoo industry works. You should know that the

Although their is nothing that acts just like human skin, this fake skin is probably the next closest
thing. If you practice on this fake skin and learn some basic skills through trial and error, an
established tattoo artist might be more apt to hiring you on as an apprentice.
You might be curious about where you should go in order to purchase a tattoo machine. The best place
is probably a tattoo supply shop online, or possibly even ebay. Years ago I bought my first tattoo kit on
eBay for no more than a few hundred dollars and it worked great for quite a few years. You will also
have to purchase some sterile and disposable needles and tubes, and make sure that with every use you
dispose of each needle and tube properly to get into the habit of being as safe as possible.
In conclusion, this article was meant to dispose of the common misconception that you can pick up a
tattoo machine and immediately start tattooing people with some basic art skills. This is dangerous
and irresponsible thinking and any tattoo artist would be insulted because what they do is a skill that
they have learned and perfected through many years of teachings. Do not make the mistake of

Pulse Train On Napthalocyanine System
This article describes the interaction of a laser pulse train on napthalocyanine and phthalocyanine
systems, in order to analyze their behavior in terms of optical limiting by tuning the laser parameters.
The main conclusion of the work is that the single sub pulse duration is the most important parameter
that affects the optical limiting process. The topic of the manuscript, may be of interest to the audience
of the Journal of Computational and Theoretical Chemistry. However, the computational methodology
is not clear and the outcome should be classified as routine work, since no new insights are offered
and results are easily predictable or already partially known from the previous paper Ref [20]. As it
stands publication is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following this strategy, it is possible to ignore the populations of the S1, Sn and T2 levels and convert
the temporal equations in a set of discrete equations considering just the sub pulses center,
consequently avoiding the explicit integration in time. This point should be clarified in detail.
5) It is not so clear for me why authors have included the assumption GammaSn^ 1=GammaT2^
1=1ps, GammaS1+gammac ~ gammac and sigmaS1Sn=10^ 21. It was based on the properties for
other systems?
6) Lines 95 103 and Figure 3: Authors do not observe any change by changing delta and n. It is easily
expected as is described in text due to the lifetime of the state S1. So, I suggest remove figure 4 and
describe it in more detail through the text.
8) Line 86. Npcs have better OL effect than that of PCs It was already described in the previous paper
Ref [20]. Citation is neccessary.
9) Figure 4, panel a, lines 104 112 and conclusions lines 126 127: The effect of increasing the sub
pulse duration is well expected. Authors claim that case tau=100ps has the better OL behavior. That is
not truth as it is shown in Figure 4. The better one is tau=140ps, and in general larger sub pulse
duration will show better OL behavior. Indeed, as longer the sub pulse is, triplet state is more
populated, thus T1 T2 absorption becomes the most important one which induces the better OL effect,

Risk Management and Contingency Planning
Project: A case of manufacturing, delivery and installation of a large power transformer. 1.
INTRODUCTION
A project to manufacture, deliver and install a large power transformer is time and resource (material
and labour) consuming, relies on services and products provided by more than one supplier, involves
multiple expertise, and costs tens of millions of Rands. If a transformer fails, the cost of rectification
can go as high as over 70% of the price of a new one. By so saying, risk management and contingency
planning plays a key role in the management of such a project. In this report, the need and process of
risk management as well as the types of risks in relation to the power transformer project are
discussed.
2. PROJECT ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like in many other projects, the basic concerns in the power transformer project are schedule and
costs, while continuously ensuring that the product meets required specifications and performance any
deviation to what is planned constitutes a risk. In practice however, things do not always go according
to plan and therefore risk management is needed to ensure that chaos does not prevail.
The point that Kippenberger (2000) is making in his article titled there s no such thing as risk free
project is that almost everything we do in a project involves a risk of some kind by so saying, it is
therefore essential that we are prepared or able to deal with risks. Most literature puts emphasis on the
negative connotation that the word risk carries. For instance, Chapman and Ward (2003) provide the
meaning of risk as: hazard, chance of bad consequences, loss, and exposure to chance of injury or loss.
Galway (2004) defines risk as an event which is uncertain and has negative impact, and similarly,
Martin (2008: 38) defines risk as the chance of something occurring that has an adverse effect on the
project . This negativity highlights the fact that problems can occur or things can go wrong and it is
therefore important to have a systematic approach to managing them. Therefore in project
management, risk management is necessary to increase the chances of the proposed project
succeeding.

cutting out carbs and focusing on lean protein, low fat dairy, and good carbs whole grains, vegetables,

lifelong eating plan that allows you to enjoy occasional treats while maintaining a healthy weight. The
person who created the diet is a Florida based cardiologist, Arthur Agatston, MD, this diet was

South Beach Diet is advertised in commercials. These commercials tend to have pictures of people

can turn off the switch for sugar and refined carb cravings. A fad diet is a diet that promises quick
weight loss through what is usually an unhealthy and unbalanced diet. This diet does promise quick
results and does kind of have a lack of some essential foods that we need. This diet does not require
special foods, but it does require less of a lot of foods. From this I think the

John Gotti Essay
Background
John Joseph Gotti, Jr. was born on October 27, 1940. He was the fifth child of eleven children. His
parents were John J. Gotti Sr. and Fannie Gotti. John Gotti s father was believed to be a hardworking
immigrant from the Neapolitan section of Italy, though Gotti would later describe his father as a New
Jersey native who has never set foot in Italy and never worked a day in his life to provide for the
family. The Gotti family grew up in the slums of the South Bronx. Although Gotti denies it, his father
worked hard to move them out of the poor neighborhoods. John J. Gotti Sr., after much perseverance,

times however all his charges were reduced to probationary sentences. Later in life, Gotti marries
Victoria DiGorgio. However marriage does not slow down John Gotti Jr. On a yearly basis, John Gotti
committed crimes and was convicted of them. Several of the crimes ranged from grand larceny,
hijacking, and murder. Though Gotti was convicted for several of the crimes, he proved to be a model

retaliation from the Gotti family and friends.
The subject of gangs and mobs has always held my interest. In history, Gotti is as legendary as

Americans Should Eat Healthy Foods The overall health of the nation should concern every American

because of availability, taste and comfort. Thus to re direct the health of the nation, people need to
stop crippling their health by convenience foods and replace it with healthy, natural choices, otherwise
the health of all will continue to decline. The body responds differently to food types, either healthy or

On an average, large amount of fast foods consumed on a daily basis, leads to the deterioration of an
individuals bodily health over time. Consuming more fruits, vegetables and healthy foods, will
increase the life expectancy of most individuals. According to Donald D. Hensrud of the Mayo Clinic
on Healthy Weight, Eating well choosing a plant based diet, which emphasizes vegetables, fruits and
whole grains also will reduce your risks of some of our nation s biggest killers and related conditions.
Many cancers, heart disease and high blood pressure, among other conditions, are linked to diet, most
notably to diets high in fat and saturated fat. Even without weight loss, adopting a healthier eating
style can be beneficial. (Hensrud 49) The majority of Americans give the argument that healthy food
takes up too much time. They state that they do not have enough time to prepare healthy meals with a
busy schedule, whereas convenience foods are easily squeezed into a day. This common
misconception often inhibits the populous from exerting any energy toward trying to accommodate a
healthier lifestyle. As Hensrud states, Cooking healthfully is not difficult to do, but it may involve
rethinking your approach. (Hensrud 49) Just a little prior preparation cuts time and effort in a tight
schedule and healthy foods generally taste much better than foods from the local convenience
restaurant. When going the healthy route, many choices

have chosen the companion that best suits you, make sure you select a healthy pet. Taking in stray
animals, buying from Craigslist, or a private seller can be troublesome because you may not know the
animal s background. Even if the person selling the pet to you says it is healthy, it may carry a disease,

This will help you to avoid promoting and buying from puppy mills or breeders who do not take care

Corporate governance is the relationship between many individuals participating in trying to

governance are managing subsidiaries, lobbying, disclosures, corporate policies and procedures. The
corporate governance is also responsible for working with investors on a range of governance issues to

Generation Of Nurses
The differences between men and women in the unit that I work in is more by age than by grouped by

The older nurses are more solitary and do not embrace team nursing. The younger generation nurses
tend to work as team members and have a group belonging mentality. They patients are the unit s

The older nurses are considered from the Baby Boomer generation and are typically in the fifties and

and have a hard working attitude (Borkowski, 2011). The younger nurses would be in the Generation

their employer (Borkowski, 2011, P. 39). The different generations present unique management

Anti-Bias Indentity Practices In Early Childhood Education
Early childhood educators is based on the idea that every child should be respected and it is with that
comforting and respectable atmosphere that the possibilty of engagement and progress becomes
possible. Every child has a culture and the acceptance and respect of their unique culture is central to
learning. It plays a role not only in communicating and receiving information, but also shaping the
thinking process of a classroom environment and individual children. Culturally Responsive Teaching
is a pedagogy that stresses the importance of including student s cultural differences in all aspects of
learning. Effective teaching requires a mastery of content knowledge and knowledge of student
populations as well. The educational system provides early intervention for students who have
developmental disabilities or delays and the purpose is to give those students the possibility to
minimize or eliminate being behind their peers academically. Although these students have laws
protecting them and making special education mainstream we must also look at the manner that early
childhood education and education in general has created a groundwork for its importance while other
issues of gender identity have been sidelined in our society and educational system. THroughout this

Malala Core Values
Our lives are like a quilt that is made up of blocks of memories, stitched together with love,
dedication, and determination. The memories are what make up the bulk of our lives; they influence
us, and help us shape our values. For someone at such a young age twenty years old to be exact
Malala s quilt is her equivalent to Joseph s biblical coat of colors: it is bursting at the seams with
pigmented hues that make up her experiences. However, not all experiences are pleasant; some of
them are troublesome, distasteful, and overall, they stick with us. Regardless of the type of memory,
they are guaranteed to affect a person s values. But despite everything that has happened to Malala,
she has kept her core values, such as education and family. She has faced many hardships in her life
that would have caused the average person to give up; however she stayed strong and continued to be
who she is.
One of the very first things that a reader picks up from Malala s memoir is how close she is with her
family, specifically her father. From the moment she was born, an unbreakable bond was formed
between the two of them. Malala mentioned that he looked into my eyes after I was born and fell in

Julius Caesar And Brutus Tragic Hero Analysis
A tragic hero tries to do the right thing but has flaws in their character that prevents them from being a
true hero. Scholars argue over whether Brutus or Caesar is the tragic hero in the play Julius Caesar by
William Shakespeare. Both men have tragic flaws which cause their downfall. They are both
ambitious. Caesar wanted all the power to himself. On the contrary, Brutus wanted what was best for
Rome and to keep a good reputation. Brutus is the tragic hero of the play since he falls the farthest due
to the fact that he is too trusting of everyone, he naively allows his enemy to speak out about him, and
he lacks self confidence. To begin with, Brutus is too trusting of those around him. Brutus s friend
Cassius recognizes that Brutus is driven by what is best for Rome. Because of this Cassius devises a
plan to plant a fake petition from the people of Rome stating that Caesar needs to be executed. Brutus
never even questions that the petition is real. After reading the petition Brutus response is:
Am I entreated
To speak and strike? O Rome, I make thee promise,
If the redress will follow, thou receivest
Thy full petition at the hand of Brutus! (Shakespeare 2.1.55 58)
Brutus agrees to do whatever it takes to help Rome receive justice, even if it means to use violence
against his friend. Lastly, due to Brutus killing Caesar, war broke out in Rome. Brutus is creating more
chaos for Rome than Caesar is. He is naive and thinks he is doing what is best for Rome, but really
ends up hurting Rome. A true hero would have been sceptical about the petition before making
decisions about it. Since Brutus is too trusting he did not think twice about the petition which
ultimately, leads to his downfall. Another example of Brutus as the tragic hero is his naivety. He
foolishly allows his enemy to speak at Caesar s funeral. After Caesar s death the funeral is planned for
all of Rome to attend. Brutus allows Mark Antony, Caesar s right hand man, to speak at the funeral.
This allows Mark Antony to turn the crowd against Brutus. Mark Antony makes Brutus look like the
bad guy by saying: If Brutus so unkindly knocked, or no. For Brutus, as you know, was Caesar s
angel. Judge, O you gods, how dearly Caesar loved him! This was

Oedipus the King by Sophocles, but there is not a single one, in which the philosophical depth and
tragic strength would be combined with such incomparable sophistication, noble grace and structural
perfection. The image of a monstrous Sphinx with the face of a woman, wings, sharp claws, the body
of a lion and mysteriously dangerous speech penetrates the whole tragedy as an incorporation of
destiny and unknown future. The following research represents a critical analysis of the Sophocles
tragedy, dealing with various issues raised in it. It gives a detailed analysis of different problems
evoking throughout the tragedy on the basis of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He saved people from the deathly and truly intimidating allurement of the monster and solved its
riddle. This is what he is like at the beginning of the tragedy. He is described as the savior of humanity
from the dark forces of the Destiny, a hero of mind and will. The people believed that he would
conquer the monster and he himself believed in his own strength. The people considered him a wise
deity and he himself thinks so.
However, Oedipus is a human being and nothing more. The victory of mind and will over Sphinx as a
symbol of Destiny is temporary. Although, Sphinx ran away and left the people in peace, it pierced the
heart of the hero and would soon once again give him unsolvable riddles. This is the core of the
tragedy. Although Sphinx no longer exists, it is still inside the soul of its conqueror. It is more
intimidating than any carnivorous animal as now he is elusive and bodiless just like a phantom.
Sphinx is the mystery of life and every human conscience. The prophet Tiresias has a full right to
mock the savior of people by saying that he should no save himself. Let him know who his mother
and father are and what the meaning of life is. The meaning of life lies in the victory of his spirit over
Destiny and victory of Destiny over spirit (Bloom 65). Let every human solve the riddle of their own

Inclusive Design Is Not A Synonym For Accessibility
COMPARISIMS TO ACCESSIBLE DESIGNS The terms Inclusive and accessible design are a
constant source of confusion. Inclusive design is not a synonym for accessibility neither is it a
connotation for the term barrier free design . There are recognised minimum requirements set for
designers that when followed let many individuals the opportunity to access programs and activities
however they may not support their active and full participation; such standards do not address the
sensitivities of sensory and cognitive differences, nor do they address the changes experienced by the
human body over time . Designers may use these codes and principles as a yardstick but must go
beyond them to achieve an Inclusive design . Inclusive design highlights the importance of meeting
the needs of as many users as possible. Designs may be naturally accommodating or adaptable to meet
diverse personal requirements; therefore it is imperative that inclusive design be included in all stages
of the design process. Inclusive design promotes an integrative approach rather than multiple separate
solutions by addressing the needs of an increasing number of people in a single design solution
resulting in the inclusive involvement of more people in the activities of society while keeping it cost
effective . PRINCIPLES OF INCLUSIVE DESIGN There are five major principles of inclusive
design. Placing people at the heart of the design process is the first principle of Inclusive design .

Gypsies Of Gypsy Culture
There is an ethnic population that has managed to settle throughout the world, yet to this day remains
largely mysterious outside their own culture. This enigmatic group, commonly referred to as Gypsies,
is comprised of multiple subgroups within a culture. This broad term encompasses a variety of tribes
and clans, more traditionally known as the Romani. Some more commonly known Gypsy subgroups
include the Romanichals of England, the Beyash of Croatia, the Kale of Wales, the Romanlar from
Turkey and the Romani from Romania and Bulgaria. The United States is also home to a melting pot
of Romani cultures (Marsh, 2013). While each band of Gypsy s maintain their own distinct attributes

important task is selecting the coffin. The Romani share a deep belief that they came from the earth
and therefore should return to the earth, so the Romani dead are never cremated and are always buried.
The coffin must be the proper one for their loved one with enough room for them to be buried with

How Does Liliana Heker Use Third Person In The Stolen Party
Intro In the Stolen Party by Liliana Heker she used third person limited. In the next few paragraphs I
will explain why and when she used it. In The Stolen Party the author Liliana Heker used third person
limited point of view to make the surprise bigger for us and it lets us experience it the way Rosaura is.
It also makes the story more exciting because we only know what Rosaura is thinking and we only
know what she is feeling not what her mother is feeling or thinking. So we are more clueless to what
is going on then if she did not use third person limited. A reason for using third person limited point of
view is to have a bigger surprise in the story at the end. So when Senora Ines gives Rosaura the money
at the end we aren t expecting

Ethics And Sustainability Of The Skidmore College Honor Code
HONOR CODE: I have not witnessed any wrong doing nor have I personally violated any condition
of the Skidmore College Honor Code while taking this examination.
I attended a meeting last week with other faculty members. One of them let fly her/his opinion that
sustainability does not exist or is, at best, a bankrupt notion that is basically a form of greenwashing
and that sustainable development was a joke. Hmmm . . . . Please comment on that assertion. In the
process, discuss the big idea of sustainable development, and more generally the concept of
sustainability as applied to individual businesses. For that matter, what is a sustainable enterprise? Can
being sustainable be good for business? Sustainability has achieved a more ecological tone in the past
few decades in terms of a business model, but it originally derives from the concept that a business is
successful due to the interconnected areas of economics, culture and ecology. Sustainability is now
becoming a somewhat fad and thus it is understandable that it could be misconstrued by some as a
form of greenwashing . Greenwashing is the idea that a company markets their green or
environmentally friendly changes in policy and values, despite no actual concrete changes in these
areas, for example some argue that Fiji Water greenwasher in terms of their marketing as an
environmentally friendly water company despite their little effort to actually go carbon neutral. Many
companies are seeing the

Consumerism In The United States
1. Some people argue that it is acceptable for people in the United States to consume at high levels
because their consumerism keeps the world economy going. What are the weaknesses in this idea?
Although America s consumerism may seem to help the economy of less fortunate countries, this
rampant depletion has become financially and ecologically unsustainable. Globally, 86% of
consumption expenditures comes from the 20% of the world s people in first world countries, while
the poorest 20% account for only a meager 14%. It seems that consumption has become a function of
our culture. Only by generating and selling goods does capitalism currently work; and the more
produced and purchased the more we have progress and prosperity. Additionally, ... Show more

LAR 101 The Power of Stories
15 October 2017
In the novels Oryx and Crake and Frankenstein, mental health impacts the main characters and their
everyday lives. Each character has been through different life changes that influence their state of
mind. To more thoroughly comprehend what each character is going through, this paper analyzes the
life changes that occur due to each characters mental state. In the novel Oryx and Crake, written by
Margaret Atwood, one of the main characters, Jimmy, grew up with a difficult childhood. He was born
an only child to his mother and father. His father worked for a company called OrganInc where he was
a genographer, looking at the history of behavior patterns in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is obviously a sign of bad mental health, but there were several incidents that led up to this state
of mind. An often occurrence were the fights between her and her husband. She didn t agree with his
ethics and motivations to grow human organs such as kidneys, brain tissue, and livers inside pigoons.
The goal of the pigoon project was to grow foolproof human tissue organs in a transgenic knockout
pig (Atwood 22). This was an issue that may have caused Jimmy s mother to be neglectful towards her
son was her depression. Depression is a mental illness that affected her everyday life. She was so
exhausted with the fights with her husband and the depression on top of that. This caused her to be
uninterested in her son and it is also what caused her to run away with Jimmy s pet. This shows that
mental illness isn t always caused by something, but rather someone is born with it. People with
depression always have it, but it can be triggered to where it affects their everyday lives. Jimmy s
mother s depression may have been triggered by stress about her husband s job and constant arguing
with her husband. Either way, whether it is ones chemical make up or something that causes it, mental
health really does affect the way people live their lives. Another main character in Oryx and Crake
was Crake. Crake s real name was Glenn, but he and Jimmy would always play a game where a code
name was required and

I Was No Pain At First
There was no pain at first. My eyes closed, I replayed the scene over in my mind: reaching just too far
before tumbling only fifteen feet which felt like eternity. Foolishly, I wondered what everyone else
would thing after hearing I had pathetically died falling off a ladder while cleaning the gutters. But
then fear gripped me, and I panicked about where I might find myself once I came to senses again.
Unknowing, I simply hoped and dreamed about what could be about. A place of light and peace, with
no darkness or pain. After minutes of creating a theoretical heaven for myself, I finally dared to
discover what awaited me. I was seated in a valley surrounded by hills and mountains so high I could
not view their peaks. The greens and blues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

did my best to live a good life, so why am I here? The woman smiled knowingly. Don t be afraid, my
child. You are only visiting me here in your altered state of existence before you continue on your
earthly journey. But for now, it is simply you and me in this place until you awake again. So, I m still
alive? Of course! She exclaimed. You are currently in a coma from your accident, but you shall soon
be revived and leave hell. You will only be unconscious for twenty mortal minutes, and I shall once
again be here alone, for you were my first visitor. Immediately relieved, I continued to gaze about at
the breathtaking glory that was all around, strangely hoping twenty minutes here in hell were much
longer than on earth. Turning back, I found the most desirable thing about was this woman. Her
dazzling beauty distracted my curiosity, before finally, It s, different than what I imagined I managed

Leadership Styles Strenghts and Weaknesses Essay
What are the key strengths and weaknesses of the supportive, directive, and participative styles of
leadership? Substantiate your response. The key strengths of participative leadership style are

Information And Communication Technology In The 21st Century
Technology in an educational context is the ability to shape and change the physical world or
knowledge by the manipulation of material and tools. Education in the 21st century has greatly
benefited from the improvements provided by information and communication technology, visual and
audio content that can be sent immediately to any part of the world (Bartlett Burton, 2012). The
amount of economic resources a region or community has dictates its availability. This has meant
information can be more easily shared, students using electronic devices are enabled to access
information on any subject or topic. Educators can more easily share ideas or discuss concepts,
allowing them to deliver content using a variety of different electronic formats in the classroom.
Technology has become a major component in personalised learning, this is where the method of
providing information and the system used is built around the student, previously the system was built
for the learner which they were required to fit into (Bolstad et al., 2012). The introduction of
technology into the classroom has also changed how curriculum and pedagogy is delivered to students
in the 21st century.
When comparing new and traditional teaching practices from the 20th century, analysis need to be
completed on how curriculum and pedagogy have changed to accommodate this. Traditionally schools
were seen to be using the scholar academic ideology, that is the idea that culture has accumulated
knowledge over time

  • 2. Accounting Career Research Paper I am an accountant at Christensen Financial where I have been employed for the past nine years. I have been in the accounting field for the past fifteen years and it happened by accident. I did not choose to be an accountant however through various jobs it chose me and I took the ball and ran with it. In my youth, I did not have an end goal regarding a career, I just knew I wanted a job that could give me the opportunity to move out of my parent s home and allow me to take care of myself. As I started working I was able to advance from a job to a career, using each opportunity as a stepping stone, I went from cashier to accounts receivable specialist, to office manager/bookkeeper, to land at Christensen Financial as their accountant. It was validating to learn that my personality type of ISTJ, which stands for Introverted, Senor, Thinker, Judgers, is in line with accounting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After high school I went straight to work and I did not continue with college until years later when I was working at Christensen Financial. I knew I loved what I was doing and I was making a decent wage doing it however I was in fear of the unknown and not having the extra layer of protection of having my Bachelor s Degree to stand out from others, if I was to ever be in the job market again. I never want to be told we cannot hire you as you do not have the education requirements. After taking GEB 3003 class I am glad I have decided to obtain my Bachelor s Degree, as I realize how hard it is to be in the market competing with so many candidates especially with how far technology has advanced and how it continues to advance. I have chosen to stay the course and continue in the accounting industry and I feel this would be a great career choice for others because there are many opportunities which I have learned including the ability to grow your career beyond a Bachelor s Degree, stability with great working conditions, and an excellent ... The battle of Vimy Ridge united the individuals of Canada to pursue a common cause, leading to victory and the establishment of the battle as a defining event in Canadian history; the conquest of Vimy would progress into the making of a fully independent and confederate country. When Canada became visible The battle of Vimy Ridge was the coming of age as a nation for Canada because it was one of the first times that all four divisions of the Canadian Corps came in union. Early Canadian nationalism developed due to the greater number of men who fought the battle were all varying races of Canadian citizens. No other allied operations were as thoroughly planned and coordinated as ours to succeed in capturing Vimy, since the Ridge was so well fortified all attempts to capture it failed ultimately except ours. Canadians soldiers trained exceptionally under the surveillance of Arthur Currie commander of the First Canadian Division. Preparations were complex; to thoroughly understand and prepare for every stage of the warfare a replica of Vimy had been built representing every inch for implementation at the authentic Vimy Ridge on Easter Monday. Most historians accounted that Major General Currie was tolerant, diligent and had significant faith in his men. The weeks of practice, accumulate of weapons and hard work finally paid off. In a matter of five days the Canadian Corps had captured all of Vimy Ridge. • 4. Bayberry Candles Essay Candles have cast a light on man s progress for centuries. However, there is very little known about the origin of candles. Although it is often written that the first candles were developed by the Ancient Egyptians who used rushlights, or torches, made by soaking the pithy core of reeds in molten tallow, the rushlights had no wick like a candle. It is the Romans who are credited with developing the wick candle, using it to aid travelers at dark, and lighting homes and places of worship at night. Like the early Egyptians, the Roman s relied on tallow, gathered from cattle or sheep suet, as the principal ingredient of candles. It was not until the Middle Ages when beeswax, a substance secreted by honey bees to make their honeycombs, was introduced. Beeswax candles were a marked improvement over those made with tallow, for they did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, extracting the wax from the bayberries was extremely tedious. As a result, the popularity of bayberry candles soon diminished. The growth of the whaling industry in the late 18th century brought the first major change in candlemaking since the Middle Ages, when spermaceti, a wax obtained by crystallizing sperm whale oil, became available in quantity. Like beeswax, the spermaceti wax did not elicit a repugnant odor when burned. Furthermore, spermaceti wax was found harder than both tallow and beeswax. It did not soften or bend in the summer heat. Historians note that the first standard candles were made from spermaceti wax. It was during the 19th century when most major developments affecting contemporary candlemaking occurred. In 1834, inventor Joseph Morgan introduced a machine which allowed continuous production of molded candles by the use of a cylinder which featured a movable piston that ejected candles as they ... Gertrude s Treatment Of Female Characters In Hamlet In the contemporary world of today, women are allowed to express their feelings, thoughts and they have unlimited amount of freedom, however during William Shakespeare s time women were not allowed to act on stage as men were the ones who played the roles of women. In William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet the female characters are characterized with very little roles, however they directly or indirectly influence the actions by the men in their lives. Literary and historical scholars conclude that women were not interested political, economic, or social equality with men during this time in history. United States Legal Analysis Of The Hague Convention When there is evidence that the wellbeing of a child would be endangered by a parent then sole or singular custody should be the preference over joint custody, also when there is proof that a parent has been abused and flees with a child that child should not be returned to the abusive parent. Over the years the U.S. has changed it procedure concerning grave risk of harm regarding Hague cases and found it not in the child s best interest to be ordered to return to a domestic violence situation without a full investigation of the nature of the abuse and of the likelihood that the authorities in the country to which the children are being returned will indeed fully protect them and their abused mother . [1] The U.S. Department of States Legal Analysis of the Hague Convention (51 Fed. Reg. 10494 (1986)) prepared for the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations to which the Convention was referred, confirms the intention that Article 13 was intended to be afforded a narrow interpretation. In this regard the State Department stated that the drafters were aware that any exceptions had to be drawn very narrowly lest their application undermine the express purposes of the Convention to effect the prompt return of abducted children; that it was generally believed that courts would understand and fulfill the objectives of the Convention by narrowly interpreting the exceptions that Article 13(b) was not intended to be used by defendants as a vehicle to litigate (or relitigate) the ... The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish (Creation Epic) Essay The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish The Enuma Elish, often known as The Creation Epic, is often considered the primary source of Mesopotamian cosmology. However, to view the Enuma Elish as a cosmological myth obscures the true intent of the epicís author. The cosmological elements of the Enuma Elish are secondary to the authorís effort to explain the supremacy of Marduk, to justify absolute oriental monarchy, and to defend Babylon as the axis mundi. The Enuma Elish was composed in Babylonin the early second millennium B.C.E. The decay of Sumerian civilization allowed the Old Babylonian Empire to become the cultural and political center of Mesopotamia. Furthermore, the transfer of power to Babylon is illustrated by the subjugation of all gods to the rule of Marduk. After erecting a throne for Marduk, the gods proclaim, Thou art (the most) important of the great gods; Thy destiny is unequaled, thy command is (like that of) AnuÖTo thee we have given kingship over the totality of the whole universe ( Enuma Elish, 36). This statement reflects the reality of the times. During the writing of the Enuma Elish the Old Babylonian Empire weilded supreme power in Mesopotamia. Moreover, the recognition Mardukís absolute rule is etiological in relation to the power of the Babylonian kings. According to Assyriologist Benjamin Foster, the Enuma Elish explains the evolution from early government by elders to absolute monarchy. As the battle between Marduk and Tiamat illustrates, Foster notes the catalyst for this change is portrayed as outside threat calling for a war leader. The leader demanded, as his terms for leadership, absolute obedience, even when the threat of war was removed (Foster, 9). Once the writer of the Enuma Elish set forth the supremacy of the Babylonian God and the precedent for earthly monarchy, he/she turned to the task of translating divine superiority to earthly. The process of translating divine power to earthly power begins on line 50 of Tablet IV of the Enuma Elish. Grateful for Mardukís leadership, the gods construct the ... It has been 44 years since that dreadful day, but the scars still remain in the heart of every Filipino citizen. Martial Law proclaims that an area is placed under the control of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. It is usually imposed when the government or civilian authorities fail to function effectively. The reason behind the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines was to suppress a series of bombings, threat of a communist takeover, and an assassination attempt on Secretary of Defense Juan Ponce Enrile in Mandaluyong. This was also imposed to save the republic and to improve the social, economic, and political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, these good gains did not last long. Basic human rights were not attained during the Martial Law. People at that time did not practice being disciplined at that time, but instead, they followed orders because they feared the authorities who had the power to arrest civilians who would disobey the rules. With power given to the military to save democracy, they committed a number of human rights violations. An estimate of 7,000 victims of torture, 2,000 people salvaged, and 1,000 people disappeared. (Malanes, 1999) Statistics are not just numbers. This was a serious case of human rights violation wherein thousands of lives were lost and thousands of families destroyed. Thus, the Martial Law is considered as the darkest days of democracy. Human rights violations is the best evidence that there was no democracy in the Philippines during Ferdinand Marcos regime. Additionally, the economic crisis and debt crisis caused by the Martial Law made the country suffer. Unemployment rates were high and poverty in the Philippines only grew larger. I found this piece so interesting as Fisher dug deeper into the women, making them appear more in depth. In the second appearance of My Dearest Hazel, the sister is writing to Hazel, following up with her. At this point her sister has observed that Hazel is pregnant and it is also now known to the readers that Hazel married Turely. As her sister stated, I afeared that s what it was, Hazel, when I see you at the wedding, looking so pale and peaked. Her sister explains her fear for Hazel and that most people are stuck living in tents. Her fear is that she will end up living the same. Her sister states, You get ready, honey / Cart all your canned goods up to Momma s, your quilts, / your pretty dishes them Baldwin Felts / break things up when they put people out / and you will need / to hang onto whatever you can (Fisher, 27). The chance Turly not surviving from working in the coal mine, and the fear of marriage not working with a child makes Hazel s sister concerned. Predestination Essay Predestination Predestination, in the dictionary, is said to be the doctrine that God in consequence of his foreknowledge of all events infallibly guides those who are destined for salvation. Scripture has 2 very good passages for defining what predestination is: Jeremiah 1:5 which says Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. God is talking about Jeremiah in this passage and how God chose him before time; he was predestined for his job. Calvin also believes that God predestined everything for everything that it does, such that God predestined me to be writing this report right now for my religion class, so that this isn t my own free will but it was God s set plan for me. Zanchius, a Reform Theologian, writes that there is most certainly a double predestination and gives passages to prove through God s Word that there is no other way. II Cor. 4:3 If our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. I Peter 2:8 They stumble because they disobey the message which is also what they were destined for. He quotes Luther with, This is the very thing that razes the doctrine of free will from its foundation, to wit, that God s eternal love of some men and hatred of others is immutable and cannot be reversed. Like in many other projects, the basic concerns in the power transformer project are schedule and costs, while continuously ensuring that the product meets required specifications and performance any deviation to what is planned constitutes a risk. In practice however, things do not always go according to plan and therefore risk management is needed to ensure that chaos does not prevail. The point that Kippenberger (2000) is making in his article titled there s no such thing as risk free project is that almost everything we do in a project involves a risk of some kind by so saying, it is therefore essential that we are prepared or able to deal with risks. Most literature puts emphasis on the negative connotation that the word risk carries. For instance, Chapman and Ward (2003) provide the meaning of risk as: hazard, chance of bad consequences, loss, and exposure to chance of injury or loss. Galway (2004) defines risk as an event which is uncertain and has negative impact, and similarly, Martin (2008: 38) defines risk as the chance of something occurring that has an adverse effect on the project . This negativity highlights the fact that problems can occur or things can go wrong and it is therefore important to have a systematic approach to managing them. People approach you when they usually wouldn t approach anyone else. Furthermore, others are drawn to people in wheelchairs because they automatically feel pity and interest in the difference in lifestyles. She relied on an interpreter to explain to us what she was saying, but as the interpreter said, she learned how to understand Delaina by repetition, as Delaina would make certain shapes with her mouth when she would talk and the interpreter figured out how to understand her over time. Delaina is the perfect example of an individual with a disability who does not need help. Her brilliance was apparent when she talked about how dedicated she was to her sketches and how she was honored to attend the University of Florida. The memories are what make up the bulk of our lives; they influence us, and help us shape our values. For someone at such a young age twenty years old to be exact Malala s quilt is her equivalent to Joseph s biblical coat of colors: it is bursting at the seams with pigmented hues that make up her experiences. However, not all experiences are pleasant; some of them are troublesome, distasteful, and overall, they stick with us. Regardless of the type of memory, they are guaranteed to affect a person s values. But despite everything that has happened to Malala, she has kept her core values, such as education and family. She has faced many hardships in her life that would have caused the average person to give up; however she stayed strong and continued to be who she is. One of the very first things that a reader picks up from Malala s memoir is how close she is with her family, specifically her father. From the moment she was born, an unbreakable bond was formed between the two of them. Malala mentioned that he looked into my eyes after I was born and fell in love, (Yousafzai 2013, p.14). • 37. Julius Caesar And Brutus Tragic Hero Analysis A tragic hero tries to do the right thing but has flaws in their character that prevents them from being a true hero. Scholars argue over whether Brutus or Caesar is the tragic hero in the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. Both men have tragic flaws which cause their downfall. They are both ambitious. Caesar wanted all the power to himself. On the contrary, Brutus wanted what was best for Rome and to keep a good reputation. Brutus is the tragic hero of the play since he falls the farthest due to the fact that he is too trusting of everyone, he naively allows his enemy to speak out about him, and he lacks self confidence. To begin with, Brutus is too trusting of those around him. Brutus s friend Cassius recognizes that Brutus is driven by what is best for Rome. Because of this Cassius devises a plan to plant a fake petition from the people of Rome stating that Caesar needs to be executed. Brutus never even questions that the petition is real. After reading the petition Brutus response is: Am I entreated To speak and strike? O Rome, I make thee promise, If the redress will follow, thou receivest Thy full petition at the hand of Brutus! (Shakespeare 2.1.55 58) Brutus agrees to do whatever it takes to help Rome receive justice, even if it means to use violence against his friend. Lastly, due to Brutus killing Caesar, war broke out in Rome. Brutus is creating more chaos for Rome than Caesar is. He is naive and thinks he is doing what is best for Rome, but really ends up hurting Rome. A true hero would have been sceptical about the petition before making decisions about it. Since Brutus is too trusting he did not think twice about the petition which ultimately, leads to his downfall. Another example of Brutus as the tragic hero is his naivety. He foolishly allows his enemy to speak at Caesar s funeral. After Caesar s death the funeral is planned for all of Rome to attend. Brutus allows Mark Antony, Caesar s right hand man, to speak at the funeral. This allows Mark Antony to turn the crowd against Brutus. Mark Antony makes Brutus look like the bad guy by saying: If Brutus so unkindly knocked, or no. For Brutus, as you know, was Caesar s angel. Judge, O you gods, how dearly Caesar loved him! • 39. Inclusive Design Is Not A Synonym For Accessibility COMPARISIMS TO ACCESSIBLE DESIGNS The terms Inclusive and accessible design are a constant source of confusion. Inclusive design is not a synonym for accessibility neither is it a connotation for the term barrier free design . There are recognised minimum requirements set for designers that when followed let many individuals the opportunity to access programs and activities however they may not support their active and full participation; such standards do not address the sensitivities of sensory and cognitive differences, nor do they address the changes experienced by the human body over time . Designers may use these codes and principles as a yardstick but must go beyond them to achieve an Inclusive design . Inclusive design highlights the importance of meeting the needs of as many users as possible. Designs may be naturally accommodating or adaptable to meet diverse personal requirements; therefore it is imperative that inclusive design be included in all stages of the design process. Inclusive design promotes an integrative approach rather than multiple separate solutions by addressing the needs of an increasing number of people in a single design solution resulting in the inclusive involvement of more people in the activities of society while keeping it cost effective .
