Being a genuinely good brand in 2010 takes more than a widely used product and an ubiquitous global presence. Though there is no precise formula, what the ten good brands on our list have in common is a penchant for imagination, innovation, environmental responsibility and social consciousness. Their products and services don’t just serve a basic need, but instead help as a tool to improve people’s lives.
Several companies have stayed strong, maintaining their positions from last year with continued innovation, while others on the list have jumped into prominence through offering creative solutions and ground breaking new business models.
We started our search for the Good Brands of 2010 by looking at the companies we were writing about on PSFK.com over the last six months. We then asked a panel of cross-industry global experts from the Purple List to tell us which of the common brands on PSFK were considered ‘Good’.
We hope the learnings from this report, and the companies identified within, provide you with inspiration that you can use to make things better.

Coming to SXSW Interactive? Let Mindshare North America be your guide. We've got tips on transportation, dining options, and most importantly of all: recommendations on which sessions you shouldn't miss.
Our industry has talked about autonomous driving for years now. But that concept expands to what I think is the most fascinating part of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show: autonomous living.
It’s the idea that technology can tell us what we need—and help us get it—before we even realize it. Amazon’s Alexa has served as the ultimate gateway, with millions in sales this year.
Ultimately, the world of autonomous living is getting here faster than a lot of people predicted. And that means marketers need to get to work.
When all is said and done, as marketers our goal for connecting with consumers starts with identifying and creating the right value exchange, and then ensuring that we adapt our interactions around right time, right place. Autonomous living can and will take
that to the next level. And perhaps the most exciting thing about it is this: with all the advancements we’ve already seen, this is still just the beginning.

Viva La Revolution: Why Universal Banking is under siege and what needs to be...Aman Narain
The world is experiencing incredible change both politically and technologically where industries are being re-imagined almost daily. Universal Banking is one business model that has been a very profitable business model. However with the changes in customer needs, regulation, technology and the emergence of new competitors this industry is most vulnerable to disruption. Disruption not just from TechGiants like Google and Apple but more so more small starts and an ecosystem of new financial services providers who instead of a head on challenge may be thin slicing the industry into oblivion. All is not lost however there are actions Universal Banks can and must take and this presentation shares some thoughts around these.
Key OTT (Over-The-Top) Market Trends in 2015 by Michael Ritchie.
In broadcasting, over-the-top content (OTT) refers to delivery of audio, video, and other media over the Internet without the involvement of a multiple-system operator in the control or distribution of the content. The Internet provider may be aware of the contents of the Internet Protocol packets but is not responsible for, nor able to control, the viewing abilities, copyrights, and/or other redistribution of the content.
Consumers can access OTT content through internet-connected devices such as desktop and laptop computers, gaming consoles (such as the PlayStation 4, WiiU, and Xbox One), set-top boxes (such as the Roku), smartphones (including Android phones, iPhones, and Windows phones), smart TVs (such as Google TV), and tablets.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
Let's dive deeper into the world of ODC! Ricardo Alves (OutSystems) will join us to tell all about the new Data Fabric. After that, Sezen de Bruijn (OutSystems) will get into the details on how to best design a sturdy architecture within ODC.
Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Today’s connected consumer
occupies a world where
multi-device ownership and
usage is the new norm. On
top of this, the primacy of
the mobile phone is further
blurring the lines between
on and offline, digital and
physical. This has created a
consumer who expects experiences that are personal, relevant and
available on-demand. As a result, retailers, marketers and brands
must learn to navigate this complex landscape, taking advantage
of new digital tools and platforms to reach their audiences regard-less
of where they choose to interact.
THE OMNI-CHANNEL CONSUMER

and displays become more
sophisticated and affordable,
viewers and users can take a
deeper dive into their content.
This emerging, multi-sensory
virtual reality opens the door
to new forms of entertainment
and media that will change
the way brands and marketers engage their audiences through
immersive forms of storytelling.
IMMERSIVE ENTERTAINMENT
Today’s innovations around
urban mobility—self-driving
cars, drones, electric vehicles,
ride sharing—are trans-forming
how we operate and
set around our cities. When
information and media can
flow freely between vehicles
and other devices, the ex-perience
of driving, and more broadly the possibilities of trans-portation,
will literally reshape our world. This complex landscape
presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities for policy
makers, stakeholders and users. By understanding how these tech-nologies
will change the future of mobility, marketers can create a
greater understanding around new consumer journeys.
