At the end of the Cold War, a more widespread interest in post conflict reconstruction was becoming
more prevalent. The main components of this interest during the post reconciliation period were
accountability and reconciliation. To facilitate this in two different post conflict environments, two
respective tribunals were established. These tribunals were known as the ICTY (The International
Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, est.1993) and ICTR (International Criminal Tribunal for
Rwanda, est.1994) . The ICTY was formed to address the conflict in former Yugoslavia. The situation
started when two of the six republics of Yugoslavia, Slovenia and Croatia, declared their independence
after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This sparked a lengthy and lethal conflict within the territory. The
atrocities that allegedly had been committed included but were not limited to, genocide, rape, and
enslavement. Many of the victims were civilians. Because of this the ICTY was created during the war

understand how complex Dean s life is. While typical of Dean and not at all unexpected, this is

The journey she takes in this story represents her role in life. She is an old black lady living in a white
society with no education. Many things make this journey very tough: it is very cold, the path is

make it through life. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, to me, does not have much effect
on the story. Either way, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much

Introduction to the Problem Given the high number of service members returning home with
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, from Operation Iraqi Freedom, OIF and Operation Enduring
Freedom, OEF, it has been priority of the Military Health System and Veterans Affairs to identify and
implement effective treatment (This is the military, 2014). Exposure therapy is the practice of flooding
the client with images of their traumatic experience in an effort to desensitize them, and help control
and reduce their anxiety (DiMaurio, 2014). This essay will discuss the efficacy of group exposure
therapy when administered to patients with PTSD, specifically OIF and OEF veterans and service
members. The outcome in successful studies will result in a decrease in PTSD symptoms. The
applicability of the results and implementation of the treatment in alternate settings will also be
discussed. Literature Synthesis Participants Methodology Two studies analyzed the efficacy of group
based exposure therapy. Ready et al. (2012) held three groups of ten participants with primarily war
related induced PTSD. (Ready et al., 2012). Castillo et al. (2012) study treated 77 woman veterans
with primarily sexual abuse related PTSD. All patients were selected from local VA clinics in the
southern United States. DiMauro performed a meta analysis on 26 studies, with an average gruop size

Personal Crimes, Property Crimes, and Cybercrimes. Personal crimes are violent crimes that result in
physical, emotional, or psychological harm to the victim depending on state laws (Shoener). Also,
there are many kinds of personal crimes. The first one is assault and beating. Although assault and
beating are two personal crimes, many states merge them into the one crime of assault and beating
because most of the assault crimes are punctuated by beating and violence to the victim for
threatening him or her. The second is homicide: it is the ugliest form of crime because of the loss of
life whether intentionally or unintentionally. In a homicide, it doesn t matter what the tool is. Whether
by weapon, fist or poison, the punishment will be the same dose no matter what kind of tools they
used. The third kind of personal crime is sexual abuse, often referred to as molestation. It is defined as
the undesirable touching of another, in a sexual manner, without approval. Sexual abuse
