Divergent Book Vs Movie
The movie Divergent is based on the novel by Veronica Roth. The book and film takes place in future
Chicago where there are five factions; Dauntless, Abnegation, Erudite, Amity, and Candor. People in
future Chicago take a test to determine what faction is most like them. If multiple factions are the
result of the test, then it is determined that the person is Divergent. This is a rare story of Beatrice
Prior s experience as being Divergent and surviving in the Dauntless community. The movie starts
with Beatrice Prior choosing a different faction that what she has grown up in; Dauntless. After she

Black signifies the bravery and strength of the dauntless faction. Even though throughout the movie
Beatrice s shirt changed, her tattoo still was showing. The significance from the tattoo is that it
represents her family that she left behind. Therefore, by showing the tattoo, she is showing that her
family is always with her. Tobias Eaton wore short sleeved black shirts for the majority of the movie.
By wearing the short sleeves, his muscles are exposed. The significance of the muscles are important
because it represents that he is strong and fights for what is right. Jeanine matthews wore a very
sophisticated and stiff suit jacket. The jacket symbolizes Matthew s personality; very stiff and
sophisticated. Lastly, Natalie Prior showed signs of dauntless costume while remaining abnegation.
Her clothing was tight fit, showing that she had control and bravery like a dauntless person. In the
same respect, her clothing is grey, which symbolizes the importance of not standing out and being
selfless in the abnegation community. The movie Divergent was a drama and science fiction film. This
film is for teenagers and young adults that like drama and/or science fiction. The acting and costume
was great, however certain parts of the film needed work. For example, the relationships with the
friends were not as strong as they were in the book. Little, but significant details were missing. This
impacted the rating and made me conclude

coordination and balance, these effects were observed in less time compared to the conventional
physical therapy (PT). Specifically, McGibon et al (2009) observed reduction of increased muscle
tone.(McGibbon, 2009). For this reason, we understand that hippotherapy is more cost efficient and
offers a better long term profit. Finally we come to the last point is the large number of therapists
needed for making a single session. But on the other hand, we have the creation of new jobs and thus
cost efficiency. Conclusion: We can claim that hippotherapy as a treatment may be more accurate as a
method of rehabilitation but it must be remembered that it produces positive and faster results in
children with cerebral palsy (CP). This balances the cost

A Critical Evaluation Of Rice Processing Machines Essay
The design that was chosen for this project was one of a few that were considered. However, after a
process of analysis and evaluation, the design chosen was deemed the best to achieve the best possible
results in the process of processing wild rice.
Description of Metrics
Metrics are the measures otherwise termed as parameters of assessment of qualities that are
quantitative. They are used to measure, compare and track performance as well as levels of
production. Metrics are used to make comparisons regardless of the variations in the subject matters,
in this case which are machines. In order to establish metrics used in this project a critical evaluation
of rice processing machines was done considering the output given as well as the set goals. In other
words metrics can be defined simply as tools used to evaluate performance or Key Performance
Indicators (KPIs) [24].
The metrics applied in the selection of this design include:
Quality
Quality is defined as the standard of something (machine) compared to others of the same category
(rice processing machines). With regard to manufacturing, quality is idealistically interpreted as the
non inferior or superior nature in comparison to others. It is a measure that determines how fit a
machine is for its set purpose. It is a measure that can be described as conditional or otherwise
subjective to which every individual has their own definition. Consumers are more concerned with the
quality specified whereas manufacturers are

Mapp V. Ohio Case Analysis
During the 1960s, numerous court cases were heard in the Supreme Court regarding individual
liberties. The Mapp v. Ohio (1961) decision reflected American history as the decision took place
during the Warren Court revolution. The socially sympathetic Chief Justice Earl Warren played a
monumental role during the Civil Rights era. National sentiment towards the plights of African
Americans and individual rights dominated the country. The Four Amendment of the U.S. Constitution
states, The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against
unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated... (U.S. Constitution). In other words, the

Cases such as Gideon v. Wainwright (1963), Miranda v. Arizona (1966) and Terry v. Ohio (1968)
added to the accused party rights. It defined the Warren Court administration era judgements.
Similarly, the Miranda rights case changed the course of criminal procedures in the country. The
landmark Supreme Court case, Miranda v. Arizona (1966), forced states to comply with their
judgement to avoid violating a person s Fifth Amendment right. As stated in the U.S. Constitution, a
part of the amendment states, nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against
himself (U.S. Constitution). The Supreme Court changed the conduct of police officers with a person
held in custody (Long 149). Basically, the protect individuals from incriminating against their selves.
The Gideon v. Wainwright (1963) Supreme Court case allowed defendants to receive lawyers to help
them in serious cases (Johnson 148). Then, the Terry v. Ohio (1968) Supreme Court decision allowed
police officers to conduct reasonable sources without a warrant (Johnson 154). These cases represent a
time in U.S. history where supports of individual rights would find victory in the court. The exception
of those would be the Terry case where the Justices would put a limit of the warrants controversy.
With that being said, future similar court cases limited the scope of the original decisions.
Nevertheless, progress was made during

is a debate amongst readers, some say he was a hero; others believe he was a coward. Personally, I

have been safe for him. He most likely would have died earlier or even been forced to leave earlier
had he never found the bus. If he had never found the bus his story would have never been widely

First Continental Congress Grievances
The Intolerable Acts of 1774, also known as the Coercive Acts, were created by Parliament solely to
punish the colonies in response to the Boston Tea Party, an act of colonial defiance in which the
colonists dumped large amounts of tea. The acts themselves consisted of 4 acts, each as a measure to
secure English jurisdiction over their American Domains. The Boston Port Act would close down the
port of Boston until the dumped tea was paid for. This would soon cause other colonies to send
support in the form of supplies. The next act, the Massachusetts Government put an end to the
Massachusetts government and the constitution governing it. The Administration of Justice Act aimed

The prime purpose of the First Continental Congress was to form a colonial resistance to the Coercive
acts. The meeting lasts from September 5th to October 6th, 1774, and the delegates considered many
options, such as an economic boycott of English trade. In the end, they chose to petition King George
III with a document addressing the grievances of the aforementioned Acts. They would also prepare
for a second Continental Congress in the event their petition was ignored. Ultimately, their appeal to
the king had no effect, and was disregarded by King George III. The Congress was not without effect,
however. There were two main accomplishments of the First Continental Congress. The first was a
compact the colonies made to boycott British imports that would . The compact went into effect on
December 1st, 1774. This movement was strictly enforced, so much that committees of observation
and inspection were to be formed in each Colony to ensure compliance with the boycott. If the
Intolerance Acts were still enacted, the colonies would completely end with Britain on September 10,
1775. The latter would not come to pass because of the Revolutionary War. The other contribution of
great importance was that the First Continental Congress had been prepared to set up a subsequent

Secondly, television has made children more violent. Television not only makes children more violent,
but it also makes children more fearful to the world around them. Cyndy Scheibe describes how
parents are concerned about violence on television. A big problem is that not only does adult crime
dramas include violence, but so do cartoons and slapstick comedies. Scheibe explains some other
effects of violence on television are that children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering
of others in reality and television. She also states that children may behave in aggressive and harmful
ways to others. Scheibe says the reason for this is, The impact of TV violence on aggression seems to
be partly due to imitation of the aggressive actions that children see (particularly if they are done by
the good guys ) and partly due to the message that aggression works to get what you want and it s
okay to use aggression it you are justified in doing so. (Scheibe p1) Agreeing with Scheibe, Talia

A Happy Marriage By Fawn Weaver
A Happy Marriage:
New York Times Bestselling Author, Fawn Weaver, points out that The greatest marriages are built on
teamwork. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and a never ending portion of love and
grace (Weaver). The quote helps give examples on what defines a happy marriage. According to the
Oxford Dictionary, the word happy is defined as feeling or showing pleasure or contentment and the
word marriage is defined in this context as The legally or formally recognized union of a man and a
woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in a relationship. The CDC s
National Center for Health Statistics reports that as of 2011 in the U.S. there were 2,118,000
marriages, with a marriage rate at 6.8 per 1,000 total population and divorce rates at 3.6 per 1,000
population. (CDC) But what actually makes a happy marriage? In order for a marriage to be a happy
one, honesty, patience, communication, love, and respect must be present from both parties. Out of
these criteria, love and respect are the two most important aspects to happiness in a marriage. All other
criteria depend on those two very basic principles being met first. Without love and respect in a union,
none of the other attributes of a happy marriage will even be able to exist. Think of marriage much
like a house, with love being the foundation, respect being the supporting frame, patience and honesty
being the windows and walls, and communication as the roof. Each

One strategy to fix this is to educate the public. Mostly the youth, because they are the future. By
educating the public people will be more aware of the signs. To know if someone s suffering from
domestic violence or to know how to get themselves out of it. Most schools provide health classes that
go over this topic for a few days, but I think they need more than just a few days to learn about
domestic violence. I strongly feel that they should educate not just in schools but in jobs. To get across
to the older generation too. Another strategy to help the victims is to provide more help. Providing
organization and classes to go to while or after they ve been abused for support and comfort. How this
would work would be by getting the government to support this movement. Also tell law enforcement
to make tighter and stricter laws, because many abusers get restraining orders put on them and they
violate them. Not having to face tough consequences. With all these changes it would not alter our
system we have in place today. These changes will work in our current system. This problem just
needs to get more attention from the public. To do something before it happens rather than after. By
doing all these things it will help you, me, and everybody else in this world. Not just a certain race,
gender, or country, because we all tie together to make this all happen. We are all part of this

The Living Dead
The introduction of zombies into this world has led many people to want to know about their
appearance, behavior, and weaknesses. Zombies are one of the most well known creatures in the world
today. Many people believe they are just a myth, but others have concluded that they are real. Fiction
or not, zombies are interesting enough to make people want to learn more about them.
The belief in zombies originated in the Haitian culture. The Haitians strongly believed in witchcraft
and Voodoo magic. They assumed that priests called bokors could turn a person into a zombie with a
powder containing a deadly poison. Several people would hire bokors to turn a person into a zombie if
they did not like him ( Zombies ). Bokors often turned the deceased into zombies if the person broke a
law during his lifetime. Zombies were also created for slavery. Being turned into a zombie was
considered a harsh punishment to receive. Although the Haitians concluded that zombies were real,
many other countries suspected that zombies were just a myth (Radford).
Although zombies are formed from dead humans, they have hardly any similarities in appearance. A
zombie s face consists of the same characteristics as a human s, but a zombie s skin has become ruined
due to decomposition. Their eyes appear to be much different once they have become a zombie. Their
pupils are shaded white. Zombies are also different from humans in the way they maneuver. While
humans normally move very easily, zombies have a

Comparing The ICTY And The International Criminal Tribunal...
At the end of the Cold War, a more widespread interest in post conflict reconstruction was becoming
more prevalent. The main components of this interest during the post reconciliation period were
accountability and reconciliation. To facilitate this in two different post conflict environments, two
respective tribunals were established. These tribunals were known as the ICTY (The International
Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, est.1993) and ICTR (International Criminal Tribunal for
Rwanda, est.1994) . The ICTY was formed to address the conflict in former Yugoslavia. The situation
started when two of the six republics of Yugoslavia, Slovenia and Croatia, declared their independence
after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This sparked a lengthy and lethal conflict within the territory. The
atrocities that allegedly had been committed included but were not limited to, genocide, rape, and
enslavement. Many of the victims were civilians. Because of this the ICTY was created during the war
as an international criminal court that applied humanitarian law. It s purpose was to gather
information, create an account of events, and prosecute those responsible for committing crimes .
The ICTY is considered the first international court. Since it was the first of it s kind, the court was not
without controversy. From the beginning, the method of establishing the tribunal was up for debate.
The ICTY did not have the legal authority to establish itself. Some states wanted a treaty to

Irritating In On The Road
The most irritating part of On the Road is at the end, when Dean leaves Sal, delirious with dysentery,
alone in Mexico to return to New York. After several days of fever induced unconsciousness, Sal
wakes to find Dean preparing to leave. Sal is incredulous and deeply hurt, but Dean simply smoothes
it over with sweet talk, fixes his blanket, and leaves without any valid explanation. Even once Sal has
realized what slimy action that was, he continues justifying it to himself, concluding he just does not
understand how complex Dean s life is. While typical of Dean and not at all unexpected, this is
tremendously disappointing. From the reader s perspective, this is a very lackluster ending. Both anti
climactic and devoid of character development, it leaves one to question the purpose of everything
prior. In a typical novel, there is a rising action, a climax, and a resolution, whereas here it is only
Dean, doing the exact same thing Dean has always done, while Sal quietly accepts it, even
romanticizing it as complexity. In several hundred pages, everything is relatively the same as it was in
the beginning. They have shared adventures and experiences, but none of the growth one would
expect to come from such a journey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Sal can be irritating and entitled, the reader has followed him through many challenges and
developed some level of attachment to him. Despite watching Dean walk out on numerous people
throughout the novel, including his children, Sal really appears to have believed that their bond was
different and that Dean would never throw him away, as he has done to everyone else. It is sad and
painful, both that Dean does walk away so callously, and that it took Sal so long to realize he would.
Furthermore, Sal still glorifies Dean, settling on the notion that he only did what he had

The Fountainhead Gail Wynand Character Analysis
The book The Fountainhead written by Ayn Rand, has many characters whose backgrounds paved the
various themes of this particular novel. As the protagonist of the story, Roark Howard goes against the
conformity that most of the other characters allege with. Coincidentally, some of the other characters

he wants to publish what will consistently bring cash, what is uniformly wanted, and he covers it up to

Write An Argumentative Essay On Pythons
Once an invasive species arrives, it s just about impossible to get rid of it Sean Hanna. In America,
there are thousands of invasive species including the pythons; pythons are extremely dangerous, and
are known for their elusiveness. Invasive species also include: starlings, asian carps, wild pigs, and
Medflies. Although these invasive species are terrorizing America s magnificent and beautiful nature,
there are possibilities to eliminate their population.
Invasive species are annihilating the population of native species. One example of an invasive species
is the python. These creatures are invading Florida and decreasing the population of other species;
they may reach New York in 2100. Pythons are extremely elusive, so it s hard to catch them. Another
example of an invasive species are the starling birds; these birds can roost in hordes up to 1 million.
Starling birds are lethal because of their droppings which cause diseases. Additionally, ... Show more

Specifically, exotic snakes have been banned from being imported to Florida. Secondly, Floridians are
organizing hunts to control the population of pythons. So far, a starling bird solution is not found;
experts have tried all sorts of strategies to deal with starlings, including itching powder, electrical
wires, poison, and fireworks (9). The medfly is another example of an invasive specie, but this pest is
difficult to handle, so the medflies are being monitored. Additionally, if a medfly approaches a home
or farm, a quarantine group comes in to stop it from contaminating and spreading. In Texas, they allow
hunters to kill wild pigs all year around; meat is then delivered and eaten at restaurants as exotic meat.
Carps are a huge food source in Asia; experts hope that Americans rely on them as a food source. So
far their plan has failed. It is possible to slow the progression of invasive

A Worn Path Essay
A Worn Path
A Worn Path is, in my opinion, a very good story. It tells of an old black woman and the struggles she
s had to deal with throughout her life. The author names the woman Phoenix after a mythological bird
that died and then came back to life through its ashes which makes it immortal. The author makes the
woman immortal because she continues to have something to live for, her grandson, whom she
apparently considers her biggest gift.
The author never says exactly how often the woman makes the journey, but we know she s made it
before because the attendants knew who she was when she came in the building. It is a very long trip
because the hunter even said that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is very determined and stubborn during her walk.
The journey she takes in this story represents her role in life. She is an old black lady living in a white
society with no education. Many things make this journey very tough: it is very cold, the path is
uphill, and the woman is very old. The trip she makes shows just how determined the woman is to
make it through life. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, to me, does not have much effect
on the story. Either way, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much
she loves him dead or alive.
At times in the story, the woman seems very confused. When she mistakes the scarecrow for a ghost,
when she thought the thorn bush was a green bush, and not knowing whether or not her grandson is
alive indicate confusion. The dialogue between Phoenix and the nurse certainly indicates confusion or
forgetfulness. At first she doesn t respond to the attendant. However, once she realizes why she is
where she is, her love and devotion to her grandson is obvious.
Both the hunter and the attendant call the woman granny and this shows how the woman was treated
her whole life, like an old grandma who has no business in town. These moments represent how
insignificant she is in society. Throughout her life, Phoenix probably had to steal just to get by. A good
example of this is when she takes the nickel from the

Surrounded By Happiness Rhetorical Analysis
Surrounded By Happiness My exhibit is called Surrounded by Happiness, to show how happiness can
depend on our surroundings. Although happiness can come from a color, location, and doing the
things we love; the one thing that makes happiness almost universal is being surrounded by people
and things who can help bring out the happiness within us. When we are accompanied by someone
who is cheerful and has positive energy, it rubs off and in turn, makes the people surrounding them
happy too. It is simple to find happiness and sometimes the littlest things can bring happiness to us
and often times it is taken for granted in our daily lives. The theme of this exhibit is to show how
people can contribute to daily happiness even when it s just from their attitude, energy, and presence.
Also, to show how it is important to know who and what we surround ourselves with and how they
can affect us. When we are surrounded by people that are positive, cheerful, and fun; it affects
everyone around us. In The Cordoba Fair, there are two women performing an act that is cheerful, full
of energy, and are having fun doing what they love. This makes the audience filled with joy and
everyone is seen with a smile on their face. The shades of blue and red on their clothing add to the
cheerful mood of the painting. This illustrates the theme of happiness by showing how being
surrounded by a group of different people can contribute a

The Pros And Cons Of Humanitarian Intervention
Humanitarian intervention has brought as much help and support to the world as it has brought unrest.
The nature of intervention involves another actor intervening in another state. Therefore, sovereignty
becomes conditional. When and how to intervene is one challenge. Many countries deploy military
forces into conflict zones or diplomatic tools. The UN deploys Peacekeepers, unarmed forces. Timing
still remains a contested issue, when to arrive and when to leave. In addition, many interventions lack
a consensus from regional or international actors, for example, the recent US led intervention in
Libya. The African Union was against it; but, the Arab League was for it. International organizations
and states should create an in depth comprehension of the situation and a coherent, concise plan,
including a timeline, objectives, and exit strategy, when conducting a humanitarian intervention. In the
early 1990s, Somalia was facing a famine outbreak. There were signs of a potential civil war. The US
marines provided famine assistance in December 1992 (Goldstein et al. 1). US troops were unprepared
to deal with the political turmoil that was plaguing the country and faced shooting skirmishes with
militants groups. 18 US soldiers were killed in the Black Hawk Dawn incident, one soldier s dead
body was dragged through the streets (Goldstein et al. 1). This event forced President Bill Clinton to
withdraw troops leaving Somalia in a state of civil war. In conclusion, the US failed

The Role Of The Hero In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The world is not perfect, things sometimes happen to good people. It would be nice if there was a hero
for every problem that ever occurred that was bad. Someone to save the day from things like bad
people, starvation, accidents, or any bad situation out there. Everyone like the hero, the man or woman
that sweeps in and saves the day. Throughout history there has been countless stories written with a
hero in some way or form. The Epic of Gilgamesh is probably the oldest written story in the world.

Why Do More Weekend Activities Are Necessary
Why More Weekend Activities are Necessary
When walking around campus on the weekends, whether the weather is nice or not, you encounter
very few people if any. You can t help wondering where everyone is. You ponder maybe they went
home or they are going off campus with their friends to go to the mall or party. It is not beneficial that
numerous people leave campus on the weekends. If students stay on campus, they are cooped up in
their dorm rooms all day not wanting to leave. A major aspect of college besides acquiring an
education is getting to be social and connect with your school and the people around you. That is not
even possible, despite the fact that you hardly ever run across a good deal of people. The fact is, Walsh
University does not provide nearly enough weekend activities to keep students on campus. Weekend
activities need to be provided not only for the social aspect, but for an abundance of more reasons.
Students can be creative and relieve some of their weeks stress through activities. Furthermore,
students can obtain some physical activity or even learn some leadership skills. Having a movie night
each Friday night, hosting parties that don t involve alcohol, or even putting on a Dodgeball
tournament in the gym, can help keep students on campus. Providing more activities will help keep
students on campus and involved; in view of the fact that, then there will be activities to do and they
will be kept busy while having fun. Walsh University needs to

The Efficacy Of Group Exposure Therapy
Introduction to the Problem Given the high number of service members returning home with
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, from Operation Iraqi Freedom, OIF and Operation Enduring
Freedom, OEF, it has been priority of the Military Health System and Veterans Affairs to identify and
implement effective treatment (This is the military, 2014). Exposure therapy is the practice of flooding
the client with images of their traumatic experience in an effort to desensitize them, and help control
and reduce their anxiety (DiMaurio, 2014). This essay will discuss the efficacy of group exposure
therapy when administered to patients with PTSD, specifically OIF and OEF veterans and service
members. The outcome in successful studies will result in a decrease in PTSD symptoms. The
applicability of the results and implementation of the treatment in alternate settings will also be
discussed. Literature Synthesis Participants Methodology Two studies analyzed the efficacy of group
based exposure therapy. Ready et al. (2012) held three groups of ten participants with primarily war
related induced PTSD. (Ready et al., 2012). Castillo et al. (2012) study treated 77 woman veterans
with primarily sexual abuse related PTSD. All patients were selected from local VA clinics in the
southern United States. DiMauro performed a meta analysis on 26 studies, with an average gruop size
of 5 participants, to determine the efficacy of exposure therapy in treating PTSD (DiMauro, 2014). All

The Three Major Theories Of Social Change In Society
Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed (Cesar Chavez). Social change, is exactly that, an
alteration in the social order of a society. The three major theories of social change include:
evolutionary theory, functionalist theory and conflict theory. Evolutionary theory is society viewed as
moving in a definite direction, simple to complex social structures. Functionalist theory is a societal
system of interconnected parts that work together in harmony to maintain a state of balance. The
conflict theory claims society is in state of continuous conflict due to competition for limited
resources. In this contingent powerful groups can maintain the status quo. Society has changed over
the years. One social change in society would be social media. Being able to share opinions so freely
has become a hot topic in today s news. For example, social media not only allows gateways to others
confidential information but it also serves as a way for terrorist to send threats that can be seen by the
public. With social media, comes technology which creates new possibilities. Computer technology;
shrinks the world by decreasing time and distance between sources of information. It improves
medical care with quick diagnostic and treatment information through video consultation, and
increases educational learning options and workplace options. The negative effects of technology
consist of amplified surveillance of people and condensed privacy. Another change in society over the

Health Care For The Uninsured Children
Quality Health Care for the Uninsured children in the United States in comparison to Health Care for
children in Canada.
Introduction:
In the U.S. Decreasing the number of uninsured is the number one goal of the Affordable Care Act
(ACA), which provides Medicaid coverage to many low income individuals (The Kaiser Family
Foundation, 2015, Introduction section). Despite the success of the ACA enrollment of millions of
people with health insurance, the most at risk and pressing group of our population is the children.
This is a group that needs our attention and their health should be the country s number one priority.
This is a vast difference from Canada, where every child has health care coverage for life because of
its Universal Health Care. Bodenheimer and Grumbach (2013) noted that over the years, reformers in
the United States argued for the passage of a national health insurance program, government s
guarantee that every person is insured for basic health care (p.187). But this effort was not only
defeated time and time again, but it was constantly shoved under the rug. It was not until a great effort
was pushed by President Obama that we started to see some changes in our health care system. Still a
lot of work needs to be done, especially for our children. Stronger measures must be implemented to
make sure that every child has an opportunity to live a long and healthy life. This is especially geared
towards children living in rural areas, where access to

Australian Kooala s Natural Habitats
As an Australian native marsupial, the koala has been listed as endangered across majority of its
natural habitats. At one point, its population had grown to almost 10 million, but has dropped to
100,000 or less still in the wild because of human activity. Many have taken action to restore the
population of the koala. The koala s background proves that their population decline is effected mainly
on humans. Numerous people refer to the koala as a koala bear, but in reality it is a marsupial, similar
to a wombat. It is found in the Australian states of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South
Australia. This nocturnal animal lives mostly in eucalyptus forests where its main food source is the
leaves of the tree. Without disturbance, the koala can live up to 15 years. While it may have no natural
predators in the wild, it does have exposed skin on its face, hands, and feet which can make it
vulnerable to fires and further threaten the population. Although other factors like fires harm koalas,
humans have the most impact on the koala. The koala may not be ... Show more content on

without the help of people. Humans have caused this problem and humans can fix this problem. The
shrinking population can grow if eucalyptus tree harvesting is controlled, dogs are disciplined, and if
people are mindful when driving. Without fast actions to fix this problem it will continue to get

Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
The books are to remind us what fools we are (Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451). Book Burning has been
around ever since books have. All throughout history from biblical to modern time book have been
burned. Rarely are books burned for no reason, some of the most common reasons books are burned
for religiously or politically. However is burning books good or bad for society? Whether if book
burning is good or bad depends on how you see the reason they are being burned. There are many
ways that book burning is good but many that are bad. In some ways book burning can be good. As
appointed in Ray Bradbury s novel Fahrenheit 451 many of the characters point out that books consist
of the real facts along with the truth about life that are good and bad. When somebody burns a book in
their eyes and opinion it could be a good reason while to other it can be reason that makes no logical
sense. Some reasons certain people may see it fit to burn books is because the books in their eyes are
offensive or against their views, beliefs and values. In this case of book burning the person or group of
people that are offended by this book are no longer offended and then can therefore live better socially
because they re no longer offended or embarrassed. This can range from religious books to older
books about times of inequality of two types of people or nationality. Another reason would be
because someone who is in charge of a group of people or even a country they would like to control

Requirements for a Career as Licensed Funeral Director Essay
Your cell phone rings in the middle of the night and you are notified that you have to go to work. After
hastily getting ready, you find yourself walking down a hallway; you turn into an empty doorway and
enter a dark, cold room that is filled with lifeless bodies waiting to be attended to. This may be an
unfavorable situation to many, but to a funeral director, it is just another day at work. In order to
become a funeral director, one must be genuinely interested, willing to fulfill the job requirements, be
able to cope with death on a daily basis, and still maintain a positive outlook on life.
Usually, people take on the profession of becoming a funeral director, or mortician, because of
exposure to a family business or pure interest. An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They must also attain a state license in order to practice what they have studied (Education Portal.
2014.). Internships are not always paid so one must really love what they are instructed to do in order
to pursue their goals of becoming a mortician. Not many people are willing to work for free for such
an elongated period of time. In New Jersey, funeral directors are also embalmers. In other states, it
may be more common to find that the funeral director and embalmer are two different people (Park
Mustacchio. 2013). Kevin Sinclair, an embalmer of twenty two years, advocates for a person to have a
certain personality in order to become an embalmer (Bradley.2013). He does this because like
everyone may know, it can be traumatic (Bradley.2013.). Anyone may be want to become a funeral
director or an embalmer, but it requires a lot of emotional stability to deal with many dead bodies that
have been distorted because of an accident. Another mortician humorously said from his past
experiences, If you can be a successful waiter, you can be a successful funeral director (Giang. 2013.).
The comparison between the two occupations may open one s eyes to a different kind of perspective.
For example, a waiter would be accustomed to a pizza being placed in an oven just as a funeral
director would be accustomed to a corpse being placed in a crematory to be cremated. Dealing with
death, more so cadavers, takes a large amount of self discipline and

This is a huge aspect to understanding people and why they act the way they do. By understanding

A Q1 person is very domineering and they tend to be insensitive towards other people. This behavior
is when a person thinks they are right all the time. They believe that you are typically lazy if you don t

A Q3 is similar to a Q2 but they are more social. They tend to be more easy going and passive.

People cannot live in a place if it is not safe. Therefore, declining population in the cities is a natural

answers on his or her own. Subsequently, the purpose of this paper is to elaborate on crimes in terms
of their types, causes, and effects to reduce them.
First of all, I would like to clarify the types of crimes in our society. There are three kinds of crimes:
Personal Crimes, Property Crimes, and Cybercrimes. Personal crimes are violent crimes that result in
physical, emotional, or psychological harm to the victim depending on state laws (Shoener). Also,
there are many kinds of personal crimes. The first one is assault and beating. Although assault and
beating are two personal crimes, many states merge them into the one crime of assault and beating
because most of the assault crimes are punctuated by beating and violence to the victim for
threatening him or her. The second is homicide: it is the ugliest form of crime because of the loss of
life whether intentionally or unintentionally. In a homicide, it doesn t matter what the tool is. Whether
by weapon, fist or poison, the punishment will be the same dose no matter what kind of tools they
used. The third kind of personal crime is sexual abuse, often referred to as molestation. It is defined as
the undesirable touching of another, in a sexual manner, without approval. Sexual abuse

First Continental Congress Grievances The Intolerable Acts of 1774, also known as the Coercive Acts, were created by Parliament solely to punish the colonies in response to the Boston Tea Party, an act of colonial defiance in which the colonists dumped large amounts of tea. The acts themselves consisted of 4 acts, each as a measure to secure English jurisdiction over their American Domains. The Boston Port Act would close down the port of Boston until the dumped tea was paid for. This would soon cause other colonies to send support in the form of supplies. The prime purpose of the First Continental Congress was to form a colonial resistance to the Coercive acts. The meeting lasts from September 5th to October 6th, 1774, and the delegates considered many options, such as an economic boycott of English trade. In the end, they chose to petition King George III with a document addressing the grievances of the aforementioned Acts. They would also prepare for a second Continental Congress in the event their petition was ignored. Ultimately, their appeal to the king had no effect, and was disregarded by King George III. The Congress was not without effect, however. There were two main accomplishments of the First Continental Congress. The first was a compact the colonies made to boycott British imports that would . The compact went into effect on December 1st, 1774. This movement was strictly enforced, so much that committees of observation and inspection were to be formed in each Colony to ensure compliance with the boycott. If the Intolerance Acts were still enacted, the colonies would completely end with Britain on September 10, 1775. The latter would not come to pass because of the Revolutionary War. Scheibe explains some other effects of violence on television are that children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others in reality and television. She also states that children may behave in aggressive and harmful ways to others. Scheibe says the reason for this is, The impact of TV violence on aggression seems to be partly due to imitation of the aggressive actions that children see (particularly if they are done by the good guys ) and partly due to the message that aggression works to get what you want and it s okay to use aggression it you are justified in doing so. • 13. A Happy Marriage By Fawn Weaver A Happy Marriage: New York Times Bestselling Author, Fawn Weaver, points out that The greatest marriages are built on teamwork. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and a never ending portion of love and grace (Weaver). The quote helps give examples on what defines a happy marriage. According to the Oxford Dictionary, the word happy is defined as feeling or showing pleasure or contentment and the word marriage is defined in this context as The legally or formally recognized union of a man and a woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in a relationship. The CDC s National Center for Health Statistics reports that as of 2011 in the U.S. there were 2,118,000 marriages, with a marriage rate at 6.8 per 1,000 total population and divorce rates at 3.6 per 1,000 population. (CDC) But what actually makes a happy marriage? In order for a marriage to be a happy one, honesty, patience, communication, love, and respect must be present from both parties. Out of these criteria, love and respect are the two most important aspects to happiness in a marriage. All other criteria depend on those two very basic principles being met first. Without love and respect in a union, none of the other attributes of a happy marriage will even be able to exist. Think of marriage much like a house, with love being the foundation, respect being the supporting frame, patience and honesty being the windows and walls, and communication as the roof. Each ... Zombies are one of the most well known creatures in the world today. Many people believe they are just a myth, but others have concluded that they are real. Fiction or not, zombies are interesting enough to make people want to learn more about them. The belief in zombies originated in the Haitian culture. The Haitians strongly believed in witchcraft and Voodoo magic. They assumed that priests called bokors could turn a person into a zombie with a powder containing a deadly poison. Several people would hire bokors to turn a person into a zombie if they did not like him ( Zombies ). Bokors often turned the deceased into zombies if the person broke a law during his lifetime. Zombies were also created for slavery. Being turned into a zombie was considered a harsh punishment to receive. Although the Haitians concluded that zombies were real, many other countries suspected that zombies were just a myth (Radford). Although zombies are formed from dead humans, they have hardly any similarities in appearance. A zombie s face consists of the same characteristics as a human s, but a zombie s skin has become ruined due to decomposition. Their eyes appear to be much different once they have become a zombie. The main components of this interest during the post reconciliation period were accountability and reconciliation. To facilitate this in two different post conflict environments, two respective tribunals were established. These tribunals were known as the ICTY (The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, est.1993) and ICTR (International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, est.1994) . The ICTY was formed to address the conflict in former Yugoslavia. The situation started when two of the six republics of Yugoslavia, Slovenia and Croatia, declared their independence after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This sparked a lengthy and lethal conflict within the territory. The atrocities that allegedly had been committed included but were not limited to, genocide, rape, and enslavement. Many of the victims were civilians. Because of this the ICTY was created during the war as an international criminal court that applied humanitarian law. It s purpose was to gather information, create an account of events, and prosecute those responsible for committing crimes . The ICTY is considered the first international court. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, to me, does not have much effect on the story. Either way, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much she loves him dead or alive. At times in the story, the woman seems very confused. When she mistakes the scarecrow for a ghost, when she thought the thorn bush was a green bush, and not knowing whether or not her grandson is alive indicate confusion. The dialogue between Phoenix and the nurse certainly indicates confusion or forgetfulness. At first she doesn t respond to the attendant. Both the hunter and the attendant call the woman granny and this shows how the woman was treated her whole life, like an old grandma who has no business in town. Although happiness can come from a color, location, and doing the things we love; the one thing that makes happiness almost universal is being surrounded by people and things who can help bring out the happiness within us. When we are accompanied by someone who is cheerful and has positive energy, it rubs off and in turn, makes the people surrounding them happy too. It is simple to find happiness and sometimes the littlest things can bring happiness to us and often times it is taken for granted in our daily lives. The theme of this exhibit is to show how people can contribute to daily happiness even when it s just from their attitude, energy, and presence. Also, to show how it is important to know who and what we surround ourselves with and how they can affect us. The nature of intervention involves another actor intervening in another state. Therefore, sovereignty becomes conditional. When and how to intervene is one challenge. Many countries deploy military forces into conflict zones or diplomatic tools. The UN deploys Peacekeepers, unarmed forces. Timing still remains a contested issue, when to arrive and when to leave. In addition, many interventions lack a consensus from regional or international actors, for example, the recent US led intervention in Libya. Evolutionary theory is society viewed as moving in a definite direction, simple to complex social structures. Functionalist theory is a societal system of interconnected parts that work together in harmony to maintain a state of balance. The conflict theory claims society is in state of continuous conflict due to competition for limited resources. In this contingent powerful groups can maintain the status quo. Introduction: In the U.S. Decreasing the number of uninsured is the number one goal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which provides Medicaid coverage to many low income individuals (The Kaiser Family Foundation, 2015, Introduction section). Despite the success of the ACA enrollment of millions of people with health insurance, the most at risk and pressing group of our population is the children. This is a group that needs our attention and their health should be the country s number one priority. This is a vast difference from Canada, where every child has health care coverage for life because of its Universal Health Care. Bodenheimer and Grumbach (2013) noted that over the years, reformers in the United States argued for the passage of a national health insurance program, government s guarantee that every person is insured for basic health care (p.187). But this effort was not only defeated time and time again, but it was constantly shoved under the rug. It was not until a great effort was pushed by President Obama that we started to see some changes in our health care system. Still a lot of work needs to be done, especially for our children.
