The Patriot Movie Analysis
The Patriot Essay
The Patriot is a movie which included several differences and similarities to the actual history of the
American Revolution, including a bias against the British. Directed by Ronald Emmerich, the
movie was a depiction of the American Revolution, with Benjamin Martin as our strong and fierce
main character.
There was a bountiful amount of similarities between The Patriot and the American Revolutionary
war including, first of all Cornwallis surrenders, taxation without representation , and the world
changing after the revolution. Cornwallis, the British general, surrenders to the American force.
This happened in both the movie and in history. This matters because, if the British didn t surrender
the revolution would still go on, so it should stay the same. Adding on, another similarity was the
slogan, Taxation without Representation. It was shown in the movie and in history. This slogan
was for the stamp act, since colonists didn t get to represent themselves in the British government.
It was surely one of the main reasons of the revolutionary war. Lastly, another similarity is that the
world has changed. It has changed overtime after the war, and the Americans had their own
freedom, till this day. After the war, King George lll said the world is now changing, by peasants
basically the world changed, for the Americans and British. In conclusion the movie included these
points because it s significant, it has changed the world in a way. Without

Comparison Between Plaster Study Model And 3D Digital...
The objective of this study was to compare the accuracy and reliability of measurements made
between Plaster Study Models as compared to 3D Digital Study Models. Methods: Thirty study
models with different levels of crowding were selected from a private orthodontic clinic. Plaster
models were measured using hand held digital calipers in a random sequence. A single operator
in one sitting without magnification with anatomical dental landmarks being pre marked,
measured the plaster models and repeated the process a week later. 3D Study Models were
analyzed using the Smilefile viewer program and were assessed in a random sequence generated
on screen in one sitting and repeated a week apart by the same operator who earlier assessed the...

Disadvantages of plaster models are that they are subject to physical damage and degradation over
time and require space for storage, which is not cost efficient 5 7. Recent advances in digital
models have allowed orthodontists to perform measurements on digital models. Digital models are
not subject to physical damage or degradation and do not require physical storage space.
Furthermore, they can be easily transferred to other clinicians or retrieved at multiple locations,
requiring only digital storage space 8. Similar studies on evaluation of digital study models in
orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning were performed and indicated that in the vast
majority of situations digital models can be successfully used for orthodontic records 9. A
comparison of the accuracy of linear measurements obtained from cone beam computerized
tomography images and digital models. These authors concluded that the linear measurements
obtained from CBCT image casts indicated a good level of accuracy when compared with
OrthoCAD models, and stated that the accuracy was considered adequate for initial diagnosis and
treatment planning in orthodontics 10. As a result of these findings, many

Who Is Laura Ingalls Wilder s Little House In The Big Woods
Little House in the Big Woods is a memoir written by Laura Ingalls Wilder that encompasses a
year of her life when she was a very young girl. Beginning in the late fall, Wilder tells of endless
preparations for the winter. Her family lived deep in the woods of Wisconsin, and her father would
go hunting and butcher some of their animals so that her familywould have lots of provisions to last
them until spring. When winter set in, her father would still hunt during the day, but because the
nights were longer, her father would sit and tell her and her sister Laura stories and let them help
him get his gun ready for the next day.
When Christmas came, Laura s cousins came to visit. She had fun playing with them, and on

Diversity Management System Essay
Diversity is a term that we can all relate to in some way or another. The term diversity represents
the multitude of individual differences that make people different from and similar to each other,
(Kinicki Kreitner, 2009). Although some people view diversity as an issue of age, race, gender,
religion, or sexual preference, it is actually much more than that. It actually pertains to the
differences that make each individual special or unique and this is why it becomes important to
learn how to interact and grow with one another. In order for this to take place in the workplace,
establishing a strong diversity managementprogram is essential to the success of any organization.
One company in particular that has created and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite all of the injustice and discrimination in the past, Xerox has made it their vision to see that
no person will ever be faced with this type of barrier again. Each person will be respected and
recognized for the quality of work they put into the organization and have an equal opportunity
to advance within. This is clearly defined in Xerox s Diversity Statement (2011), Xerox is
committed to equal opportunity of employment and all employment decisions are based on
merit, qualifications, and abilities. This behavior that Xerox has adopted has opened many
doors over the years and given many people the inspiration they need to reach for bigger
opportunities. Xerox values their stand on diversity so much that they have twenty years of
success in their supplier diversity program. In 1985 Xerox had only one guy in charge of
investigating how much money the organization was spending with companies that were ran by
minorities and women. Today, Xerox employs a fully staffed department to oversee this operation.
In 2005, Xerox spent almost $250 million in one year with minority and women owned business
with a plan to increase this number by ten percent and since 1985 has purchased more than five
billion in supplies and services from minorities and women, (M2PressWIRE, 2005). This is a
tremendous step for diversity management and has also opened many other doors for both
minorities and women. Over the

1. More and more students have to pay for college on their own, or with little assistance from
their parents. Learning how to live on one s own and today s complicated financial world is
stressful, and it s no wonder that some students would rather drop out and get a job rather than
continue studing. 2. All the academic activities clubs, jobs, teams, grades, assignments, classes a
student has to accomplice form a big ball of stress. 3. Managing time can be quite stressful for
anyone as busy as the modern day college student. Many students lose sleep or feel as if they just
don t have enough time to accomplish what they need to accomplish. 4. Roommate conflict is
almost the first one that comes as starting life on campus. College students are forced to live with
people who may have different values, beliefs, schedules, and habits than they do. There s nothing
worse than having to sleep in the same room as someone you d normally hate or never talk to. 5.
Many relationships are started (and ended) throughout college years. Those who are in relationships
have to deal with the stresses of arguments, seeing someone too much, seeing someone not enough
and those pesky long distance relationships. Transition Now that we have covered all the essential
sources of stress it will be most appropriate to continue with the effects of the stress.

Lady With An Erine Analysis
Lady With an Ermine In his portrait Lady with an Ermine, Leonardo da Vinci s innovative detail to
composition, chiaroscuro, and symbolism allows the emergence of a new style of portraiture.
In the book Leonardo da Vinci: The Marvellous Works of Nature and Man, Kemp demonstrates his
knowledge on Leonardo s portrait through stylistic analysis and historical input. Shell and Sironi
presents their article Cecilia Gallerani: Leonardo s Lady with an Ermine, through studies in the
identification of the painting. The authors of the article study physical and historical features of the
painting to create meaning. Through the analysis of stylistic features and examination of history,
the meaning of the Lady with an Ermine can be uncovered as a portrait with poetic vitality and
aristocratic value.
The portrait Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci [Fig. 1], displays a young lady known as
Cecilia Gallerani with an ermine on her lap. Cecilia s head tilts to the side and the line of her
eyes follows as she gazes away from the beholder. The positioning of her head and eyes create a
mysterious atmosphere around her. She seems dignified through the divergence of her eyes from
the beholder. Furthermore, her body is slanted towards the beholder while her head slants in the
opposite direction. The composition of her body seems to be engaging with the beholder but her
her gaze indicates no interest. The distance between the beholder and her indicates that one can
only admire her from afar. The ermine sits gracefully in Cecilia s arms and its eyes also diverts
away. The ermine tilts its head to his right, opposite of Cecilia. The different angles of their heads
reflects the dynamics and movement of the portrait. Therefore, the portrait does not feel stiff but
rather lively.
Another feature of this portrait is the use of Chiaroscuro and its ability to make the portrait look
realistic. The light source coming from the left side illuminates Cecilia s skin against the dark
background. The light brightens the entire left side of Cecilia and the ermine, meanwhile creating
shadows on the right side of her body. The shadows, however, are soft like reflected light. The
reflected light has intensity on the bright parts of her body

Examples Of Hermeneutical Injustice
In this paper, I would like to argue that people with medical condition the is still misunderstood and
largely undiagnosed does experience hermeneutical injustice, rather than a mere circumstantial
epistemic bad luck as categorized by Miranda Fricker (2007). The argument provided by Fricker for
differentiating hermeneutical injustice and circumstantial epistemic bad luck is invalid most of the
time. This is because those patients continually experience unequal hermeneutical participation and
background social conditions that maintained the relevant hermeneutical gap. Before presenting my
arguments, I would first examine Fricker s view on hermeneutical injustice and the poignant case of
circumstantial epistemic bad luck. Next, the unequal social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even if questions about his feelings were being asked, questions that are opposing to the doctor s
judgements are barely asked. Patients are usually hermeneutically marginalized in a way that their
views are often being excluded from epistemic consideration. This may be attributed by the
difference in social position of doctors and patients. Doctors usually hold greater social power than
patients due to their profession. The power can be exercised unconsciously to marginalize the
hermeneutical participation of the relatively powerless patient groups. In the case of diseases that
are highly infectious and fatal, the usual response is avoiding contact with those patients instead of
searching and learning more information about that disease. Hence, the medical condition remains
misunderstood. Salient negative resources are more likely to be left in the hermeneutical pool
because those are the ones which are noticeable to the dominant group. True resources that
captures the patients medical situation and experience can be ignored. Hence, there is a
prejudicial exclusion from the pooling of knowledge, which is the primary harm of hermeneutical
injustice identified by Fricker. Consider the following case: there is a disease that has similar
symptoms as being physically abused, in which bruises and bone fracture are the common and
frequent symptom. Patients with such disease visited several large hospitals, but all medical staffs
conclude that the patient has been physically abused and refuse to agree that they are symptoms of
a disease or investigate further. The medical staffs have used the usual interpretation of treating the
presence of bruises and bone fracture as a physical abuse in preference of accepting the very
unlikely but true interpretation held by the patients. Those who are living or had close contact with
the patients with such disease may be accused of physically

Between father and son we can see a representation of modern day broken home situations. The
role of father and son has been reversed in this story. Not only does their relationship contain
holes, the son seems to be the more mature one of the two. The values of being part of a family
has sabotaged the Father s marriage with his son s mother. He is an a man who has a constant
need for adrenaline, and that rush he gets what makes him constantly ask his ex wife for
forgiveness. As the father rushes to get his boy, home to his mother, he is blocked off by police
after a dangerous snow storm. He decides to drive past the barricade when police leave and
although he is trying to please the boy s mother, to the son, it is just another one of his rushes.
Everything the father lacks in family values, his son covers with nervousness. He sticks to his
father like white on rice. During the nervous car ride in a car that the father can barely afford, the
father calms the boy down and helps him take in the moment, by talking about his and his son s
strong points. At the end of the story, the narrator concedes that they are going to be caught and
resigned to it. He began to enjoy

Short Story Sequel To Pride And Prejudice
A short story sequel to Pride and Prejudice Darcy and Elizabeth have been married for three years.
Elizabeth felt extremely happy. It was not easy to manage such a big manor, but with innate
intelligence and clever, she soon became prevalent with everyone though there were several
servants expressing disdain for her origins in the first few months of marriage. Among the loveto the
new hostess, Mrs. Reynolds loved Elizabeth the most. Mrs. Reynolds loved Darcy the same as
loved her own child. When she saw Darcy altering the habit of travelling around and beginning
to live in the home, her heart was saturated with gratitude for Elizabeth. Elizabeth enjoyed as
hostess dignity and grace in Pemberley. On condition that she expressed a willingness of any
things she loved, Mr. Darcy would do everything to gratify her. What s more, some of her wishes
she does not show. Nevertheless, as long as Mr. Darcy was conscious of what she had in mind,
he would make every effort to achieve the aspirations of his wife. Although they had been
married for one year, he still loved his wife very much. In Mr. Darcy s heart, the meaning of
happiness is together with Elizabeth. Because of Mr. Darcy s love and gratitude, Elizabeth
argued that she should not just act as a competent female owner s duty as compassionate
servants and farmers like her husband, more important was to take care of his sister Georgiana.
Georgiana had no sisters, and her mother died when she was overwhelmingly small. She had
always been exceedingly humble and timid at home. However, since her brother married,
Georgiana had a pretty and clever sister in law. Elizabeth s words and deeds gradually have good
effects on Georgiana, for that reason she slowly opened up mind. She loved the sister in law
very much, and she treated Elizabeth like her own sister to love in less than a year together, but
also Elizabeth took Georgiana like her own sister. All this, Mr. Darcy saw in the eyes. As a result,
he loved his dear Elizabeth more and more. They loved each other very much. Elizabeth and Mr.
Darcy have always been so in love, but only on the premise of the biggest quarrel since three days
ago. Elizabeth lay down on the bed of a large goose and looked at

What Is The Differences Between The Monarchy, Aristocracy,...
In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy, and
democracy in Ancient Greece.
Monarchy.
There are two types of monarchy one is a constitutional monarchy and the other is absolute
monarchy. Absolute monarchs are really all powerful, they are able to pass laws and veto any
law passed or suggested by politicians, a constitutional monarch has less power and is really only a
figurehead as a head of state.
In Ancient Greece there were not really a lot of monarchies, there was of course Sparta with its
unique two King system. The two Kings come from the direct descendants of the founders of
Sparta, they weren t really absolute monarchs because they had the ephors stopping them from
taking too many decisions that could be harmful to the state (Cartwright, 2013). There were other
monarchies in the times of Ancient Greece, most notably Macedonia, that went on to conquer
Greece in 336 BCE (Brand, n.d. ,p36).
Aristocracy.
This was the rule of a few elite people. They were always the richest people and what we would call
today the Lords or Ladies. They were the highest of the upper classes. This would have given them
a good chance of perks and probably a good way of becoming wealthier (Mahabal, Joshi, 2017).
Tyranny.
A tyranny could be described as a government that would be ... Show more content on

moderate (Cartwright, 2013). In 404 BCE Athens was defeated in Sicily and then there was yet
another power change to the oligarchy of the 30 tyrants, this was a bad time for Athens as these

Essay about Online Education Versus Traditional Education
With high speed internet available to potential students of all economic levels, schools are opting to
implement online classes into their traditional teaching curriculum. As a result, our society is
divided in two different ways of thinking on the education. Some believe the modern method is
better than the traditional method of teaching. Personally, I believe both methods should balance
one another instead of attempting to substitute one another; this way their purpose of educating
will be far more successful.
Online education, also called long distant learning, can be defined as a new method of learning
through a computer network. This modern way of teaching gives students an opportunity to take
classes online. Bill Gates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Barbara Means, the study s lead author and an educational psychologist at SRI
International, online education ultimate goal, is to provide learning experiences that are more
tailored to individual students than is possible in classrooms. That enables more learning by doing,
which many students find more engaging and useful.
However, advocates of classroom learning believe the online method isolates the students from one
another as well as their professor minimizing the overall value of taking the course. They also claim
that students learn better when working together with their instructor and their fellow classmates.
Students learn better when they are given the opportunity to ask questions, join in class
discussions, and they move the process of learning forward through their participation. Face to face
advocates firmly believe that this kind of interaction is not possible over the Internet; and for many
types of education, e learning will never meet the potential of live human interaction in the
classroom. An article in the New York Times titled, Second Thoughts on Online Education, backs
up the points made above. A recent research published by the National Bureau of Economic
Research, comes to the conclusion; A rush to online education

Myth Of The Empty Land By Robert P. Carroll
Myth of the Empty Land:
The myth of the empty land is a widespread debate between biblical critics; the concerns of this
debate lays within the construction of Judean territory during and after the destruction of Jerusalem
leading to their (Babylonian) exile (586 538 BCE). The understanding of the empty land refers to
the land left behind by its people, where the myth therein refers to the interpretation of certain texts
and their beliefs of what the land of Israel was like during their exile. The works of Robert P.
Carroll will be used as the primary basis of this interpretation.

To achieve this, I will attend swiftly to the major difference pertaining the myth of the empty land;
the variance between the texts.
The Empty Land of Chronicles and Leviticus:
Under the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, the destruction of Jerusalem took place as a result of the
people s pollution of YHWH S holy sanctuary (Carroll,1992:80) with the destruction of
Jerusalem, the exilic period began. The biblical texts that Carroll use to argue the emptiness of
the land is that of 2 Chronicle 36:17 21 and Leviticus 26:27 39, by making specific reference to
the following verses it is evident that according to these narratives the land was left desolated;
2 Chr 36:19 21 19Then his army burned the Temple of God, tore down the walls of Jerusalem,
burned all the palaces, and completely destroyed everything of value. 20The few who survived
were taken as exiles to Babylon, and they became servants to the king and his sons until the
kingdom of Persia came to power. 21So the message of the Lord spoken through Jeremiah was
fulfilled. The land finally enjoyed its Sabbath rest, lying desolate until the seventy years were
fulfilled, just as the prophet had said.

Doing investment banking is like doing drugs: on your good trips you dance in clouds of

your bad trips you scratch your eyes out and jump off buildings. These are the words of Brian

Narrative Essay On Going To Chicago
You, Josie, have been accepted into GEM s World Academy Chicago! This was the best day of
my life. I have been accepted to the best private middle school in Chicago with a full ride. All
four years for free. I couldn t believe what just happened to me. This was the highest
achievement that I have ever gotten. It seems a little to good to be true. I could see my mother
with a pitty smile on her face and kind of scared. Like she is trying to hide something. It wasn t
like we were starting school tomorrow. It was June. I found out what it was, we live in Forest
Park, which is a full 12 miles from Chicago. To add on, my mom works from 12am to 10am. So
that means that I am going to have to take the trainall the way into the city. First of all, I ve never
really even been out of Forest Park or its neighboring towns other than driving to camp in southern
Illinois. So going to Chicago is a huge deal for me. It was an early morning. 6am on a Saturday to
be exact, and my mother woke me up. C mon Josie we need to get you to Chicago. Are you coming
with? I asked No. Here are a few quarters. Call me on a pay phone and I will come and pick you up.
I thought she was crazy. I was going to take the train into Chicago, by myself! I m only 11 years
old, then call her on a Payphone! This woman has gone mad. 3... Show more content on

I was already at the trainstation and I got on the train right away. Ok, I thought to myself, don t

disgusted by it. So I hurry off that platform and accidently switch to the purple line as I was rushing
to get out of there. I was forced to get off at the next stop and call my mom. That would be fail #2.
I seriously couldn t believe myself. I m a complete buffoon. Let s just say my mom said I was a
buffoon as well, but she didn t use such kind words. It made me think of why I was going to this

Even Among The Giants Of Literature, Such As Arnold,...
Even among the giants of literature, such as Arnold, Wordsworth, and Milton, Thomas Sterns
Eliot stands tall. As the founder of the modernist movement and the voice of a disillusioned
generation, there are few who can rival the impact Eliot had on the world of literature. How then,
does one choose one work to define this man? Examining his personal beliefs and writings, there
are a few threads which connect them all. These threads culminate in his 1925 poem, The Hollow
Men , a poem which describes men stranded in a desert watching their only hope begin to fade
away. Canto III of The Hollow Men best represents the essence of T.S. Eliot s writings because it
depicts the technique and ideas common throughout his work. Eliot s primary... Show more content

Instead, they wander aimlessly as people who are neither good nor evil, but only sad an
ineffectual like the people in the featured poem. Eliot uses the imagery of the desert as shorthand
to convey this idea to his readers. It is clearly seen that Eliot s masterful use of imagery is
present in this passage. The first theme shared throughout Eliot s works is the inability to love
and the powerlessness which comes from it. This is depicted in the lines Trembling with
tenderness/Lips that would kiss/Form prayers to broken stone (Eliot, Hollow Men). These
people desire to kiss and be intimate with each other but despite their passion, they are unable to
do so, able only to repeat useless prayers. This idea is present in another one of Eliot s poems: The
Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. In this poem, an ageing man named Prufrock wishes to ask a girl
an overwhelming question , but is incapable of doing so due to his fear and anxiety. Prufrock
eventually resigns himself to a lonely existence, viewing himself as repulsive and worthless as a
crab Scuttling across the floors of silent seas (Eliot, Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock 73 74). Just
as the desert people are unable to connect with each other; Prufrock is unable to ask his question.
This view is likewise reiterated in The Wasteland . During a romantic moment with a girl in a
garden, the narrator suddenly has a crisis,

Pros and Cons of Government Intervention Essay
Objective
This specific report addresses the pros and cons of how much government intervention in the
marketplace is necessary and appropriate. This report will cover four authors, Cunningham, Green,
Friedman and Pertschuk. The authors have written extensively on consumerism and the protection
thereof. This author s goal is to break down some of the theories, which authors seem akin in their
beliefs and which authors views are bipolar opposites. Green states there be only should be two
types of government regulations 1) economic regulations and 2) health and safety regulations. He
states the only important pieces of consumer legislation to emerge from Congress in the past three
years were the Consumer Protection Safety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Friedman views the consumer as strong and is totally interested in efficiency. He does note
however the FDA had done a good job of keeping us from harmful medication. The Cunningham s
objective of their research was to determine how many individuals in various sectors of society
know about the consumer protection laws and their rights as consumers. These were included, but
not limited to false advertising, false retail advertising, credit regulations, credit cards, labeling,
truth in lending and deceptive retail practices. These authors view the consumer relatively weak
due to a lack of knowledge. They also feel the low incomes are no match for the sophisticated
marketer. There these authors are interested in equity. The most important implication derives from
the lack of information demonstrated by all income segments of the consumer sample. This
situation suggests that what is needed is not more and tougher laws, but rather more information
made available to ore individuals concerning their rights as consumers. The present research has
demonstrated that one other variable is important: with the exception of a few areas of the law,
both consumers and attorneys know very little about their rights as consumers. This was
particularly true in areas such as door door selling, false or deceptive advertising, false or deceptive
retail practices. More and better information concerning consumers rights must be provided to
individuals of all

Improving Sports At School Time
Many parents put special emphasis on learning math and natural science for their children than
paying attention to the importance of physical education. Even public schools do not allocate
enough time for kids to practice sports as much as they do for class based education. In fact,
physical activity for children is not only about pleasure time. Rather, it helps grown up children
to extend their capacity to grasp concepts explained in their classes. Children who are active
while doing physical activity are expected to be active at class time. Thus, encouraging sports at
school time is essential for child development not only for educational success but also for
physical, social, mental, and moral development(Griffin , 1998). Physical education helps kids to
develop in many areas. Sports that require collaboration between players can help them to grasp
the importance of being a part of group and how it is important to unify their effort with others to
achieve certain goals. When it comes to moral development, children will learn to accept that
there are always winners and losers and it s not wrong to be a loser. Moreover, since all kind of
sports include competition, kids will have the chance to be physically developed in an exciting
atmosphere. All these benefits will positively affect students outcome when they return to class.
Therefore, public schools should consider physical activity as a crucial component of their
educational objectives(.Janssen and

Historical Aspects Of Ancient China
As with all oracular processes, chance remains a pivotal aspect of divining the future. The use of
divination in the context of Ancient China is a way of explaining the unknown. Known in the
Western sphere as The Book of Changes, the Yijing/I Ching conversely known as Zhouyi is a
document that was incepted during the Bronze Age for the purposes of divination. The contents of
the Yijing holds sixty four short chapters, each consisting of three elements: a hexagram, a
hexagram statement, and six line statements. The hexagrams are drawings of six parallel lines,
some whole and some broken. The two kind of statements...explain the mantic value of each

The following line statements that accompany each individual line can also give further insight as
to whether the person asking the question will be successful in their endeavors. Though according
to Rutt, though its indications are sometimes appropriate to the theme of the lines, the hexagram
statement does not summarize the theme of its line statements, and in most cases has no thematic
connection with the...and cannot be said to provide a general summary of the hexagram s
meaning... Even if the divination process selects the same hexagram for varying situations, it does
not guarantee that they will all have the same outcome of success or failure. The Yijing is rooted in
mathematics; the basis of the hexagrams were inspired by nature, which can be debased to
mathematical equations. 2 to the power of 6 equates to the number of hexagrams within the
document (64 total). Since numbers to the power of 2, together with multiple symmetries, turn up
everywhere in mathematical and physical structures, Chinese scholars found no difficulty in
applying the 64 hexagrams to everything from the structure of crystals to the solar system.
Hexagrams were also discovered to have relation to binary by William Leibniz. Hexagrams in the
Fuxi order, if written with 0 for the broken lines and 1 for the whole lines, and with the bottom line
at the right, gave the binary

William Atticus Finch The Greatest Hero Of The 20th Century
One of the most vilified professions is also one of the most important vocations. On the second
Tuesday of every year, the world honors these professionals with Be Kind to Lawyers Day. The
day is meant to give people the chance to let lawyers know how much you appreciate them by
thanking them, taking them to dinner or sending them a gift to show your gratitude that they are
there to keep you out of trouble.
With Be Kind to Lawyers day here, it is also a chance to enjoy some of the best lawyer movies in
the history of cinema.
To Kill a Mockingbird
While some lawyers receive a bad rap, the man considered the greatest character and hero in all of
movies is an attorney. Gregory Peck plays Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, a fiercely loyal
and honest attorney who fights prejudice and seeks only justice and fairness from the system he
works for. The American Film Institute named Atticus Finch the greatest hero of the 20th century.
A Time to Kill
A movie that shares a lineage with To Kill a Mockingbird is A Time to Kill, based on the novel
by John Grisham. Instead of the African American man falsely accused of raping a white woman,
this movie tells the story of an African American man who seeks vengeance for the rape and
brutalization of his young daughter by two white men who get off under a technicality. The story
takes a hard turn when the Ku Klux Klan show up in town wanting the neck of the father after his
act of vengeance and target the attorneys

Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
In the fictional world of Jane Austen, the lives of the characters are based on societal
values and mores that only exist in her novels. The characters and situations that she puts forth
are not concerned with the outside world at all; they are a world in their own. Austen populated
this unique world with morals and characters according to the way of life she knew herself. The
title of the novel is itself a clue to Austen s view of the life that surrounded her: the prejudice of

overhears this exchange and immediately files Darcy away as not worth her time. This first
encounter is what forms the basis for Elizabeth s horrible opinion of Darcy. Because of this
comment introduced so early on in the novel, Elizabeth is more likely to believe and think
unfavorable thoughts about him. Not only has she formed an ill opinion of him at this point, but
her pride is also wounded, something that will not be undone until the novel is almost through.
However, Elizabeth misjudges Darcy. Because of his social standing, she assumes his airs are
pompousness and arrogance, when they are in reality the result of shyness and a certain social
ineptness. As a result she misinterprets his reactions from thereon. In reality, he is slowly falling
for her, against his will. When Elizabeth s sister, Jane, becomes ill and must stay at Netherfield
with the Bingley party, Elizabeth comes to stay and take care of her, leading to more interactions
with Darcy. One moment that is key to understanding their interactions takes place in the library
at Netherfield. Elizabeth asks Darcy what his weakness is and he replies, Yes, vanity is a
weakness indeed. But pride where there is a real superiority of mind pride will always be under
good regulation (Austen 57). Although we do find out later that

Determining The Detection System Efficiency And Background...
Figure of Merit (FOM) is a mathematical expression that accounts for detection efficiency and
background noise, and is used to optimize system performance. The desire of this study is to
maximize the detection system s efficiency and minimize its background signal. The highest
optimization potential occurs at FOM s peak value. Finding the optimum counting region of interest
is an iterative process and an important first step in the characterization of a detection system. A
standard solution/sample s FOM value is determined by first counting it and determining its
efficiency and spillover. The detector electronics for most detection systems have multiple
adjustable parameters (e.g. applied voltage, amplifier gain, low level discriminator), which are
adjusted to eliminate electronic noise. These parameter optimizations are useful for reaching the
optimum counting conditions. In equation 1, Оµ is the counting efficiency in percent and B is the
radiation background count rate. Maximizing the FOM can optimize the conditions in achieving
the highest efficiency for a given background. Figure of Merit (FOM) = Оµ^2/B (Eq. 1) The
optimization is achieved by adjusting the operating voltage for a given discriminator setting and the
discriminator setting for a given operating voltage to find the optimal balance [Pujol et al., 2000].
Reducing the operating voltage of the PMT can decrease the background count rate but may also
reduce the counting efficiency. Calculating FOM with

Curriculum And Instruction For Atypical Learners
Today s teachers face many challenges in the classroom. Teachers are held accountable to provide
rigorous, relevant instruction that meets the needs of all students. In addition, teachers must also
provide accommodations and modifications of assignments for students who have special needs or
disabilities which may hinder them in a regular educational setting. These types of general
education instructional adaptations are the focus of one of my Master s coursework studies,
Modification of Curriculum and Instruction for Atypical Learners (SPED 5366). Through the
course, I gain knowledge which allows me better understand how to meet the educational needs of
these atypical learners. During the course, I created an application assignment with a teaching tool
that meets the needs of a student who struggle in the area of Science. In addition, I implement the
lesson with the student and reflect on the experience (see Appendix A Gummy Bear Science). I
chose the atypical learner lesson as an example of my showcase work because it reinforces how to
effectively assess a struggling student s strengths in a subject instead of focusing on their
weaknesses. In the assignment, I provide an instructional plan that best meets the needs of the
struggling learner. Instructional planning recognizes and supports the classroom as a community to
which age peers belong, where they can and should be nourished as individual learners (Lawrence
Brown, 2004, p. 36). For the assignment, I

The Republic By Socrates
In Book VII of the Republic, Socrates sets forth the idea that a real astronomer would not be
concerned with the motions of the stars. This comes at a time in the dialogue being played out in
the Republic in which the education of the guardians (especially those who will be the philosopher
kings) is in question. The foundational elements of this education have already been discussed,
these being the subjects of music and poetry and rigorous physical training. However, the question
remains what other subjects should be added to the education process of the guardians to make
them fit rulers of the just city. As Socrates has mentioned earlier in Book VI, he believes that it is
philosophers that are most fit to rule, so the guardians of the... Show more content on

Socrates takes issue with the manner in which it is currently studied in his time, claiming that those
engaged in the subject gain no knowledge because they deal with things they can see, that is, the
motions of the stars. He then makes the claim expressed in the quote above, that real astronomers
(those concerned with truth and understanding) would not concern themselves with these stellar
motions. This idea ties into the desired essence of the guardians education, as the subjects that are
to be added should stimulate thought and the search for understanding. The purpose of this study is
to prepare the potential rulers for what Socrates calls dialectic, which is essentially pure exploration
of thought and reason in the quest for understanding that which is (i.e. the Forms). A parallel to
this idea that also makes it quite provocative is the nature of modern astronomy, which often
concerns itself with the motions of stars, although in a different, more diverse, and more advanced
way than in Socrates time. However, modern astronomy also deals with problems as Socrates
suggests, as the men and women at the forefront of the field are always trying to uncover the truth
about not only the way celestial bodies move and interact with one another, but also how they fit

Compare And Contrast Inca And Aztec Empires
In Mesoamerica and the Andes, two distinct Empires, the Aztecs and Incas, emerged from previous
cultures. Their developments in politics, religion, and in society had some similarities, but differed
as well based on their different geographical locations. To politically gain control of areas in the
Central and South America, the Aztecand Inca Empires had a period of fighting between local
chiefdoms and small states. The developments of sacrificial religions helped develop tribute and
labor empires. Socially, kinship based institutions emerged into a social hierarchy, creating an

Gaining partial control of Lake Texcoco and settling at Tenochtitlan, The
Aztecs began to develop regional politics. Aztec politics were based on military strength with a
slightly decentralized government because of constant expansion, causing less unity within the
Empire. Similarly, the Incas gained their political strength from imperial conquests. The kingdom
of Chimor was locate in the Andean region of South America. A series of military campaigns by
Inca leader, Pachacuti, led to the downfall of the Chimor, allowing the Incas to settle at Lake
Titicaca. Over the next few years, the Inca army was constantly expanding the empire in the region.
Unlike the Aztecs, however, Incan government was more complex and centralized, ultimately
creating a more stable empire. The Incas adopted split inheritance from the Chimor kingdom,
which all political power went to the ruler s successor, except for his
possessions, which went to the male decedent. The military nature of the Aztecs and Incas

The Education System Of Pakistan
The education system in Pakistan focuses mainly on primary education however you find that a
large number of children ages 5 9 are not attending schools and it would appear that primary
system needs to enlarge if universal primary enrolment is to be achieved (Lynd, 2007). In Pakistan,
there were 14 million girls studying in basic educationin 2005, compared to 18.3 million boys. In
other words, there were over 4 million more boys than girls in basic education. This is still an
issue in Pakistan where there are more number of boys in education than girls. The disparity in
favour of boys was prevalent at all levels of basic education, with the exception of the higher
secondary level where the number of girls was very close to equal to the number of boys, which
indicates that Pakistan displays a disparity in favour of girls at this stage of education. This implies
that many more boys than girls discontinued their education after secondary schoolwith the result
that their numbers matched those of the girls in the final level.
Those that can afford to pay to go school will be able to attend better and improved education but
those in rural areas are at disadvantage as they cannot afford to let their children go to school.
Governments allow primary education to be free for all as they believe every child should be
educated however the costs for uniform, stationary, lunch and funds makes it difficult for poorer
families to actually let their children go to school. Basic

Classroom Reflection
At Rolling Green, many areas are used for gym classes now. The temperature recently just rose
to the mid 60s. Before the temperature rose, students would participate outside on the schools
tennis court, around the baseball diamond, and sometimes the old soccer field. Now, students are
participating in the small gym towards the middle of the school building. This helps make it
easier for students who didn t dress for the cold weather stay warm. As well as not fully
protecting students, but avoiding possibility for children to get sick due to extreme climate
change. In this reflection, I will give a brief description of the physical arrangements in the
physical education classroom inside. I will then give a description of routines and procedures.
Next, I will talk about one of the instructors grouping strategies and activities that stuck out to me
the most. Finally, I will speak about one change I would make, and why I would make that change.
To begin with, the inside physical education classroom is extremely small. Normally there will be
two classes in the room at one time, which leads to the instructors dividing the room up with the
middle door. When the gym is divided, the left side just has a stage and volleyball nets taking up a
small percentage of space. On the other side of the divided room, there are chairs, volleyball polls,
and tumbling mats cluttering the rooms space. Normally the Instructor will try to move extra items
out of the way as much as possible. If students have to run, then the items are moved to the four
furthest corners of that side of the room. Other times the extra items will be placed in the instructors
personal office, or even the equipment storage room. On both sides of the gym, there are posters all
over the walls to motivate the students to be healthy, happy and enjoy life t the fullest. There are
also some pictures of students with their instructors, and more photos of students in uniforms for
certain sports.
A daily routine for all of my instructors students, would be to come in the classroom and stand in
order by their last name. The instructor has already made groups for the students, there are
normally 4, but no more than 5 students to each row. After the students get into

How Does Sherman Alexie Use Dark Humor

uses humor to address uncomfortable or confrontational subjects and in no way trying to hurt or

also, releases tension for characters and the person reading the story. When things start to get too

Mass Media: Development and Literacy

Pedro S. Ortiz In my 20 years of living I can say that the things that I am used to seeing my

many things have change over all or have progressed. Somethings that have changed rapidly over
time is mass media, mass media has progressed fast over the years. Coming out with new
technology and changing the way people work and view this world. In my parents generation
the only media there was, was newspapers, and interactions with other people. Now and days,
media is seen all over and in many different was. Newspapers, internet, cell phones (smart

many things have changed so much some more than others. Over the years since my parents

Research, Experimentation, Observation, Action Research...
Executive Summary
This report reflects understanding of one of the research methods such as survey, case studies,
experimentation, observation, action research and focus groups. It explains advantages and
disadvantages of the research method through examples.
Furthermore, it gives correct philosophical perspective to the method and describes method
considering different aspects affecting the implementation of research such as risk, cost, time and
expertise.
1.Introduction
Research method is a way to approach a controlled and a systematic research. This report focuses
on one of the research method that is Survey . A survey falls under the category of positivist
research which is consider to be highly organised and involves collecting of information from
individuals through their response to the certain type of questionnaire. In other words, it is a
method of collecting quantitative data in a more versatile manner with a set of questions given to
group of people.
Survey research is been changing dramatically as we move up with new technology and
generation. If you go through the history of survey research, it was divided into two main
categories: the questionnaire and the interview. Questionnaire survey was typically conducted with
the help of papers and pencils. The data was supposed to be collected from individuals through
their response with help of pencil. On the other side, due to the growing technology survey research

Reid Book Report
Throughout the book, Reid explores the very ideals and concepts of Confucianism and its relation
to the Japanese society in which he encounters. His encounters bring a greater understanding of the
Japanese culture and its relationship to the culture of more western nations. The book explains the
ideals of respect, responsibility, and familydynamics within the Japanese culture, and their effects
on Asian life. It is because of the traditions and values of Confucianism that the Japanese have
much lower crime rates than that of the United States, and many other western nations. The
lower crime rate is a direct result of the values and morals found within Confucianism. They have
a high ideal for respect and sympathy for others, as well as loyalty and wisdom. Though crime
may happen, it is considered rare in Japanese culture. Reid describes a time when his 10 year old
daughter was going to Disneyland with a friend by themselves and no parental supervision. He was
shocked with the response of the mothernot having any worry about the girls going by themselves.

30 foot armed tower, 500 acres of Californian dessert enclosed nearly 12,000 Japanese Americans.
In 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 authorizing the removal
and detainment of anyone in military territory. When armed police went door to door rounding up
Japanese Americans and ordering them straight to the camps as my grandfather asserted, America s
national fear was exploited. My grandfather at the age of sixteen, lost his home, his family, and
notably continued to face several obstacles postwar. Thousands of Japanese Americans during the
1940 s, including Ichiro in John Okada s No No Boy, have had their lives reshaped by new
territories, boundaries and inner conflicts. The lost of family and friends was prevalent as racial
prejudices intensified throughout the nation. While thousands of innocent families were victimized
in the Japanese interment camps and imprisonments during WWII, the overwhelming distress led to
corrupt relationships and inner turmoil. After abandoning everything in our home, everything my
parents had worked for, I was met by assault rifles, searchlights and quarters too small for the
amount of people it accommodated my grandfather assured. The property, belongings, jobs and
businesses were all left behind in the rash fear

Persuasive Essay On Martin Luther King
As there is no such thing as the best time in the eyes of Martin Luther King, likewise, the
guidelines mentioned of the correct method to perform tasks, are not complicated, rather rely on
the basic morals instituted in countless individuals from childhood. To begin with, in the page
provided on Moodle regarding King s principles, the first advice taught to activists attempting to
enforce change in society, is to ensure not be negatively influenced by others to commence falling
into committing violent acts, as this merely creates more anger and distress among people. When
Mr. King had embarked on the step to mold a Beloved Community where all of humanity were
provided equal opportunity and livelihood in the aspects of poverty, racism and militarism.
Furthermore, Dr. King s Beloved Community is a global vision, in which all people can share
wealth in the earth, In the Beloved Community, poverty, hunger and homelessness will not be
tolerated because international standards of human decency will not allow it. Racism and all forms
of discrimination, bigotry and prejudice will be replaced by an all inclusive spirit ... be peaceful
conflict resolution and reconciliation of adversaries ... through a mutual, determined commitment
to nonviolence... instead of military power . (King 1) Evidently, here Mr. King provides an
illustration of his beliefs in actions, as with his dream community which continues to be attempted
to fulfilled today, merely has clean intentions to not hurt others

Isolation In Disney Pixar s Film Brave
In the Disney Pixar animated film Brave, an unconventional princess, Merida, suffers from her
own isolation her entire life as she acts contrary to how traditional royalty should. However, her
rift between who she is and who she should be comes to a head when she puts a curse on her
mother. Not only does the movie take Merida on a journey of acceptance and learning, but forces
Merida s mother, the queen, to live in exile alone in her own mind as she is transformed into a
bear. The meaning of this mental isolation goes deeper than the surface themes of Brave, as
Elinor nearly loses her humanity, revealing the impact isolation can have on one s humanity and
how dire meaningful relationships are to a functioning society as a whole. Elinor s curse is first
shown to expose this idea of isolation equating to non humanity when she and Merida are hunting
for their first meal away from the castle. Shown to be unsuccessful in finding her own food as she
tries to eat poisonous berries, Elinor is characterized as someone who relies on... Show more content

One of humanity s essential qualities is to go against the grain, so to speak. Disney subtly shows
this ideal in every character from traditionalist Elinor entertaining Merida s childhood encounter
with will o the wisps to Merida s rebellion against her betrothal. So, in this way, Elinor s struggle to
go so against the grain to maintain her humanity is made more potent. If she had simply gone with
what nature told her, she would become a full fledged bear, unthinking and only relying on instinct.
This can be seen as a direct result of isolation as the lack of relationships with other higher thinking
humans takes away the need to rely on anything besides instincts; Elinor s mental isolation and
difficulty communicating with Merida removes her relationship, thus forcing her into a more
animalistic state to

Essay on Ammonium Security Act and the Sandy Recovery Act
The United States was built on an agrarian system. The ability to grow crops helped create an
economic backbone for the county. The use of fertilizer became a norm in farming and agriculture
and was not considered a potentially harmful substance. Modern science in combination with the
terrorist mind has looked at fertilizer as a weapon, particularly those containing ammonium nitrate.
The Ammonium Nitrate Security Program shows how far the United Stateshas progressed by
regressing when the issue of terrorism is presented into the conversation. Terrorists are using readily
available tools which can be purchased legally without knowledge of law enforcement personnel.

However the substance is also used in fertilizer which is not regulated.
Following the bombing, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms began a partnership with
The Fertilizer Institute (FTI) to monitor and report suspicious activity (Bureau of Alcohol, 2014).
The Ammonium Nitrate Security Act was developed as a means of regulating the sales of
ammonium nitrate to the public. A lack of a comprehensive and uniform method of tracking the
substance among the states reveals a flaw in the system of preventative policing. North Carolina
does not have any regulations in place for the monitoring of sales of ammonium nitrate in its
fertilizer form. The fact that the substance is considered an explosive unless it is in the form of
fertilizer is an oversight by the government.
The Sandy Recovery Act The Sandy Recovery Act of 2013 signed by President Obama afforded
federally recognized tribes residing on reservations the ability to deal directly with FEMA (Federal
Emergency Management Agency). Prior to the signing of the amendment, the Robert T. Stafford
Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of 1988 (Stafford Act), which provides disaster
relief, did not include a provision allowing the tribes to request federal aid directly to the
president. The sovereignty of the particular tribal nation was categorized as being in the same

What Is The Purpose Of Teenage Rebellion
The purpose of teenage rebellion is for young adults to show their independence from their
parents and authority. Adolescence is a time between being a child and an adult. People speak to
you like an adult but you aren t able to do the same because you are seen as a child. Many
teenagers are trying to figure out their place in their life and find themselves. Adolescence is a
time for growth. During this time many teenagers learn that what they once thought was a good
idea really isnt. And that their likes and interests will definitely change as they get older. The first
purpose of teenage rebellion is for teens to establish a sense of independence. In The Existential

Teenagers are always questioning the things they are told to do. Stuck between childhood and
adulthood, this is the time to let go of immature habits and ideals and finally grow to accept

about his sexual history or lack thereof. The thing is, most of the time when you re coming pretty

they really want you to stop, or whether they re just scared as hell, or whether they re just telling
you to stop so that if you do go through with it, the blame ll be on you, not them. Anyway, I keep
stopping. The trouble is, I get to feeling sorry for them. I mean most girls are so dumb and all.
After you neck them for a while, you can really watch them losing their brains. You take a girl
when she really gets passionate, she just hasn t any brains. I don t know. They tell me to stop, so
I stop. I always wish I hadn t, after I take them home, but I keep doing it anyway. (Salinger 50) In

Speech On The Hitler Youth
Speaking on the Hitler Youth, and just how violently anti Semitic the group was, Jewish
survivor Marcel Back explained, On Sundays we like to go have a nice excursion in the forest,
and then you saw a few of those so you tried to avoid to get close to them because they could beat
you up (USC SFI VHA, Marcel Back). Another survivor, Fred Berdach noted, There were Hitler
Youth on the streets [...] and they became bullies. You were bullied in the streets, you were
bullied in the schools, you were bullied anywhere and everywhere (USC SFI VHA, Fred
Berdach). Berdach s account was in reference to the evolution of the Hitler Youth in 1938, just
three years before the beginning of the mass killing. Many of the then Hitler Youth members
would have been eligible to become soldiers in WWII, as well as the older ex members. Perhaps
the Hitler Youth members played the roles of enforcers of the killing program and pressured others
into doing the same. A further demonstration of latent prejudice in twentieth century societies
contributing to genocide is the lack of large scale support for the Jews from outsiders. According to
Shlomo Aronson, the Allied Powers had influence in the Holocaust and could have taken steps to
lessen the plight of the Jews, but instead turned a blind eye (Aronson, pp.266). Citing three sets of
circumstances influencing Allied decisions to not intervene, Aronson noted that the Allies were not
keen on being depicted as Jew sympathizers and were in fact very

Nfl Marketing Strategy Analysis
Introduction
The National Football League (NFL) is one of the four main professional sports leagues that was
founded in 1920 in Canton, Ohio. The league consists of 32 individual franchises that are each
operated across major cities in America. The mission of the NFL is to provide our fans,
communities and partners the highest quality sports and entertainment in the world, and to do so
in a way that is consistent with our values. Recently the league has hit a stanhold in terms of
views, many conclude this to be because of officiating, concussions, and lack of competition. The
resurgence of the league in terms of profitability depends on how effectively they can promote to
consumers before a. The NFL relies heavily on the support of their sponsors ... Show more content

Putting these teams into new markets and cities could not only give a boost to that individual
franchise, but also to the rest of the league. For example the St. Louis Rams were valued at 1.45
billion, but after their move to Los Angeles the value of the team skyrocketed to around 3 billion
purely off the relocation. Exposing new fans to the highest quality of football, would lead to
increase in ticket sales and merchandise in the relocated city. Expanding or relocating into huge
foreign markets such as Mexico City or London could also be a viable solution, as individual
games in Europe between two NFL teams have sold out 80,000 seat stadiums. Having foreign
countries gain interest in the NFL has huge upside, purely the ability to have new eyes watching
games would be an an immediate boost towards the league s

Christian Tradition and Non-Christian Tradition are Two...
Many have heard of Faust in one way or another. A Faustian Bargain is one where an agent trades
away the future for a boon in power during the present. I will be exploring at least two magical
traditions in Marlowe s Faust: the Christian tradition and the non Christian tradition.
Not many stories captivate readers like Marlowe s Faust can captivate. It s the classic story of a
man who risks hellfire by dealing with the devil for a brief, yet magnificent, period of
otherworldly knowledge and power. This story has been rewritten and reformulated time and time
again. I aim to show that the story of Faust is inspired by the story of Adam and Eve.
What accounts for this story s persistence? I think it is because readers are gripped by the fantasy
of humans possessing divine powers, engaging in adventures and magical exploits, and trafficking
with the greatest of evils.
Many view the Faust tradition from the perspective of magus literature. Their searches for Faust s
beginnings often turn up magicians. The historical Johann Faustus, a sixteenth century charlatan
who wandered across Germany, who exercised a minimum of pharmaceutical knowledge...with a
maximum amount of malice, was himself a magician.
E. M. Butler, in The Myth of the Magus, links Faust with a broad number of magicians extending
back to Moses and others. Other scholars, seeing the Faust legend as a Christian story, seek Faust s
roots in a more limited way. Here the consensus identifies Simon Magus as the

Who Am I Who I Am
Why I am Who I am
When I think back to why I am who I am, I think back to my childhood and what memories have
stuck in my mind. They often come up in certain situations as a reminder to never forget the
people that love me, or the places that I love that influence my choices and the road to my future
goals. I try my best to follow advice and recollect on the important things in life, like zipping up
my coat or enjoying time with my family, making the best out of situations and thinking
positively. I remember repetitive smells or touch that one day added to my mind and never left,
that will always be a part of me, Now I am eighteen and in college, about to start a new chapter
my life and compose new memories with new people. Thinking back now makes me wonder what
it will be like to think back years from now to these moments that im making now, and how I will
connect them all.
Zip it up or don t go outside my teacher would declare to me, because I still couldn t zip up my
own coat without someone s help. Could you please help me? I asked, Try zipping it up or don t
go outside , I remember her reciting it in a somewhat of a rude tone and it was announced in
front of the class, usually in line before recess, which did not make me feel any better. The
pressure of doing it in front of the class made me a bit frightened, I could feel their wide eyes on
me which only made me more nervous. With my small fingers trembling

  • 2. The Patriot Movie Analysis The Patriot Essay The Patriot is a movie which included several differences and similarities to the actual history of the American Revolution, including a bias against the British. Directed by Ronald Emmerich, the movie was a depiction of the American Revolution, with Benjamin Martin as our strong and fierce main character. There was a bountiful amount of similarities between The Patriot and the American Revolutionary war including, first of all Cornwallis surrenders, taxation without representation , and the world changing after the revolution. Cornwallis, the British general, surrenders to the American force. This happened in both the movie and in history. This matters because, if the British didn t surrender the revolution would still go on, so it should stay the same. Adding on, another similarity was the slogan, Taxation without Representation. It was shown in the movie and in history. This slogan was for the stamp act, since colonists didn t get to represent themselves in the British government. It was surely one of the main reasons of the revolutionary war. Lastly, another similarity is that the world has changed. It has changed overtime after the war, and the Americans had their own freedom, till this day. After the war, King George lll said the world is now changing, by peasants basically the world changed, for the Americans and British. In conclusion the movie included these points because it s significant, it has changed the world in a way. Without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparison Between Plaster Study Model And 3D Digital... The objective of this study was to compare the accuracy and reliability of measurements made between Plaster Study Models as compared to 3D Digital Study Models. Methods: Thirty study models with different levels of crowding were selected from a private orthodontic clinic. Plaster models were measured using hand held digital calipers in a random sequence. A single operator in one sitting without magnification with anatomical dental landmarks being pre marked, measured the plaster models and repeated the process a week later. 3D Study Models were analyzed using the Smilefile viewer program and were assessed in a random sequence generated on screen in one sitting and repeated a week apart by the same operator who earlier assessed the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Disadvantages of plaster models are that they are subject to physical damage and degradation over time and require space for storage, which is not cost efficient 5 7. Recent advances in digital models have allowed orthodontists to perform measurements on digital models. Digital models are not subject to physical damage or degradation and do not require physical storage space. Furthermore, they can be easily transferred to other clinicians or retrieved at multiple locations, requiring only digital storage space 8. Similar studies on evaluation of digital study models in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning were performed and indicated that in the vast majority of situations digital models can be successfully used for orthodontic records 9. A comparison of the accuracy of linear measurements obtained from cone beam computerized tomography images and digital models. These authors concluded that the linear measurements obtained from CBCT image casts indicated a good level of accuracy when compared with OrthoCAD models, and stated that the accuracy was considered adequate for initial diagnosis and treatment planning in orthodontics 10. As a result of these findings, many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Who Is Laura Ingalls Wilder s Little House In The Big Woods Little House in the Big Woods is a memoir written by Laura Ingalls Wilder that encompasses a year of her life when she was a very young girl. Beginning in the late fall, Wilder tells of endless preparations for the winter. Her family lived deep in the woods of Wisconsin, and her father would go hunting and butcher some of their animals so that her familywould have lots of provisions to last them until spring. When winter set in, her father would still hunt during the day, but because the nights were longer, her father would sit and tell her and her sister Laura stories and let them help him get his gun ready for the next day. When Christmas came, Laura s cousins came to visit. She had fun playing with them, and on Christmas morning, she found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Diversity Management System Essay Diversity is a term that we can all relate to in some way or another. The term diversity represents the multitude of individual differences that make people different from and similar to each other, (Kinicki Kreitner, 2009). Although some people view diversity as an issue of age, race, gender, religion, or sexual preference, it is actually much more than that. It actually pertains to the differences that make each individual special or unique and this is why it becomes important to learn how to interact and grow with one another. In order for this to take place in the workplace, establishing a strong diversity managementprogram is essential to the success of any organization. One company in particular that has created and... Despite all of the injustice and discrimination in the past, Xerox has made it their vision to see that no person will ever be faced with this type of barrier again. Each person will be respected and recognized for the quality of work they put into the organization and have an equal opportunity to advance within. This is clearly defined in Xerox s Diversity Statement (2011), Xerox is committed to equal opportunity of employment and all employment decisions are based on merit, qualifications, and abilities. This behavior that Xerox has adopted has opened many doors over the years and given many people the inspiration they need to reach for bigger opportunities. Xerox values their stand on diversity so much that they have twenty years of success in their supplier diversity program. In 1985 Xerox had only one guy in charge of investigating how much money the organization was spending with companies that were ran by minorities and women. Today, Xerox employs a fully staffed department to oversee this operation. In 2005, Xerox spent almost $250 million in one year with minority and women owned business with a plan to increase this number by ten percent and since 1985 has purchased more than five billion in supplies and services from minorities and women, (M2PressWIRE, 2005). This is a tremendous step for diversity management and has also opened many other doors for both minorities and women. Over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Lady With An Erine Analysis Lady With an Ermine In his portrait Lady with an Ermine, Leonardo da Vinci s innovative detail to composition, chiaroscuro, and symbolism allows the emergence of a new style of portraiture. In the book Leonardo da Vinci: The Marvellous Works of Nature and Man, Kemp demonstrates his knowledge on Leonardo s portrait through stylistic analysis and historical input. Shell and Sironi presents their article Cecilia Gallerani: Leonardo s Lady with an Ermine, through studies in the identification of the painting. The authors of the article study physical and historical features of the painting to create meaning. Through the analysis of stylistic features and examination of history, the meaning of the Lady with an Ermine can be uncovered as a portrait with poetic vitality and aristocratic value. The portrait Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci [Fig. 1], displays a young lady known as Cecilia Gallerani with an ermine on her lap. Cecilia s head tilts to the side and the line of her eyes follows as she gazes away from the beholder. The positioning of her head and eyes create a mysterious atmosphere around her. She seems dignified through the divergence of her eyes from the beholder. Furthermore, her body is slanted towards the beholder while her head slants in the opposite direction. The composition of her body seems to be engaging with the beholder but her her gaze indicates no interest. The distance between the beholder and her indicates that one can only admire her from afar. The ermine sits gracefully in Cecilia s arms and its eyes also diverts away. The ermine tilts its head to his right, opposite of Cecilia. The different angles of their heads reflects the dynamics and movement of the portrait. Therefore, the portrait does not feel stiff but rather lively. Another feature of this portrait is the use of Chiaroscuro and its ability to make the portrait look realistic. The light source coming from the left side illuminates Cecilia s skin against the dark background. The light brightens the entire left side of Cecilia and the ermine, meanwhile creating shadows on the right side of her body. The shadows, however, are soft like reflected light. The reflected light has intensity on the bright parts of her body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Examples Of Hermeneutical Injustice In this paper, I would like to argue that people with medical condition the is still misunderstood and largely undiagnosed does experience hermeneutical injustice, rather than a mere circumstantial epistemic bad luck as categorized by Miranda Fricker (2007). The argument provided by Fricker for differentiating hermeneutical injustice and circumstantial epistemic bad luck is invalid most of the time. This is because those patients continually experience unequal hermeneutical participation and background social conditions that maintained the relevant hermeneutical gap. Before presenting my arguments, I would first examine Fricker s view on hermeneutical injustice and the poignant case of circumstantial epistemic bad luck. Next, the unequal social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if questions about his feelings were being asked, questions that are opposing to the doctor s judgements are barely asked. Patients are usually hermeneutically marginalized in a way that their views are often being excluded from epistemic consideration. This may be attributed by the difference in social position of doctors and patients. Doctors usually hold greater social power than patients due to their profession. The power can be exercised unconsciously to marginalize the hermeneutical participation of the relatively powerless patient groups. In the case of diseases that are highly infectious and fatal, the usual response is avoiding contact with those patients instead of searching and learning more information about that disease. Hence, the medical condition remains misunderstood. Salient negative resources are more likely to be left in the hermeneutical pool because those are the ones which are noticeable to the dominant group. True resources that captures the patients medical situation and experience can be ignored. Hence, there is a prejudicial exclusion from the pooling of knowledge, which is the primary harm of hermeneutical injustice identified by Fricker. Consider the following case: there is a disease that has similar symptoms as being physically abused, in which bruises and bone fracture are the common and frequent symptom. Patients with such disease visited several large hospitals, but all medical staffs conclude that the patient has been physically abused and refuse to agree that they are symptoms of a disease or investigate further. The medical staffs have used the usual interpretation of treating the presence of bruises and bone fracture as a physical abuse in preference of accepting the very unlikely but true interpretation held by the patients. • 10. Short Story Sequel To Pride And Prejudice A short story sequel to Pride and Prejudice Darcy and Elizabeth have been married for three years. Elizabeth felt extremely happy. It was not easy to manage such a big manor, but with innate intelligence and clever, she soon became prevalent with everyone though there were several servants expressing disdain for her origins in the first few months of marriage. Among the loveto the new hostess, Mrs. Reynolds loved Elizabeth the most. Mrs. Reynolds loved Darcy the same as loved her own child. When she saw Darcy altering the habit of travelling around and beginning to live in the home, her heart was saturated with gratitude for Elizabeth. Elizabeth enjoyed as hostess dignity and grace in Pemberley. On condition that she expressed a willingness of any things she loved, Mr. Darcy would do everything to gratify her. What s more, some of her wishes she does not show. Nevertheless, as long as Mr. Darcy was conscious of what she had in mind, he would make every effort to achieve the aspirations of his wife. Although they had been married for one year, he still loved his wife very much. In Mr. Darcy s heart, the meaning of happiness is together with Elizabeth. Because of Mr. Darcy s love and gratitude, Elizabeth argued that she should not just act as a competent female owner s duty as compassionate servants and farmers like her husband, more important was to take care of his sister Georgiana. Georgiana had no sisters, and her mother died when she was overwhelmingly small. She had always been exceedingly humble and timid at home. However, since her brother married, Georgiana had a pretty and clever sister in law. Elizabeth s words and deeds gradually have good effects on Georgiana, for that reason she slowly opened up mind. She loved the sister in law very much, and she treated Elizabeth like her own sister to love in less than a year together, but also Elizabeth took Georgiana like her own sister. All this, Mr. Darcy saw in the eyes. As a result, he loved his dear Elizabeth more and more. They loved each other very much. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy have always been so in love, but only on the premise of the biggest quarrel since three days ago. Elizabeth lay down on the bed of a large goose and looked at ... • 11. What Is The Differences Between The Monarchy, Aristocracy,... In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy, and democracy in Ancient Greece. Monarchy. There are two types of monarchy one is a constitutional monarchy and the other is absolute monarchy. Absolute monarchs are really all powerful, they are able to pass laws and veto any law passed or suggested by politicians, a constitutional monarch has less power and is really only a figurehead as a head of state. In Ancient Greece there were not really a lot of monarchies, there was of course Sparta with its unique two King system. The two Kings come from the direct descendants of the founders of Sparta, they weren t really absolute monarchs because they had the ephors stopping them from taking too many decisions that could be harmful to the state (Cartwright, 2013). There were other monarchies in the times of Ancient Greece, most notably Macedonia, that went on to conquer Greece in 336 BCE (Brand, n.d. ,p36). Aristocracy. This was the rule of a few elite people. They were always the richest people and what we would call today the Lords or Ladies. They were the highest of the upper classes. This would have given them a good chance of perks and probably a good way of becoming wealthier (Mahabal, Joshi, 2017). Tyranny. A tyranny could be described as a government that would be ... Essay about Online Education Versus Traditional Education With high speed internet available to potential students of all economic levels, schools are opting to implement online classes into their traditional teaching curriculum. As a result, our society is divided in two different ways of thinking on the education. Some believe the modern method is better than the traditional method of teaching. Personally, I believe both methods should balance one another instead of attempting to substitute one another; this way their purpose of educating will be far more successful. According to Barbara Means, the study s lead author and an educational psychologist at SRI International, online education ultimate goal, is to provide learning experiences that are more tailored to individual students than is possible in classrooms. That enables more learning by doing, which many students find more engaging and useful. However, advocates of classroom learning believe the online method isolates the students from one another as well as their professor minimizing the overall value of taking the course. They also claim that students learn better when working together with their instructor and their fellow classmates. Students learn better when they are given the opportunity to ask questions, join in class discussions, and they move the process of learning forward through their participation. Face to face advocates firmly believe that this kind of interaction is not possible over the Internet; and for many types of education, e learning will never meet the potential of live human interaction in the classroom. As the founder of the modernist movement and the voice of a disillusioned generation, there are few who can rival the impact Eliot had on the world of literature. How then, does one choose one work to define this man? Examining his personal beliefs and writings, there are a few threads which connect them all. These threads culminate in his 1925 poem, The Hollow Men , a poem which describes men stranded in a desert watching their only hope begin to fade away. Eliot uses the imagery of the desert as shorthand to convey this idea to his readers. It is clearly seen that Eliot s masterful use of imagery is present in this passage. The first theme shared throughout Eliot s works is the inability to love and the powerlessness which comes from it. This is depicted in the lines Trembling with tenderness/Lips that would kiss/Form prayers to broken stone (Eliot, Hollow Men). These people desire to kiss and be intimate with each other but despite their passion, they are unable to do so, able only to repeat useless prayers. This idea is present in another one of Eliot s poems: The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. In this poem, an ageing man named Prufrock wishes to ask a girl an overwhelming question , but is incapable of doing so due to his fear and anxiety. Prufrock eventually resigns himself to a lonely existence, viewing himself as repulsive and worthless as a crab Scuttling across the floors of silent seas (Eliot, Love Song of J. These authors view the consumer relatively weak due to a lack of knowledge. They also feel the low incomes are no match for the sophisticated marketer. There these authors are interested in equity. The most important implication derives from the lack of information demonstrated by all income segments of the consumer sample. This situation suggests that what is needed is not more and tougher laws, but rather more information made available to ore individuals concerning their rights as consumers. The present research has demonstrated that one other variable is important: with the exception of a few areas of the law, both consumers and attorneys know very little about their rights as consumers. Even public schools do not allocate enough time for kids to practice sports as much as they do for class based education. In fact, physical activity for children is not only about pleasure time. Rather, it helps grown up children to extend their capacity to grasp concepts explained in their classes. Children who are active while doing physical activity are expected to be active at class time. Thus, encouraging sports at school time is essential for child development not only for educational success but also for physical, social, mental, and moral development(Griffin , 1998). Physical education helps kids to develop in many areas. Sports that require collaboration between players can help them to grasp the importance of being a part of group and how it is important to unify their effort with others to achieve certain goals. When it comes to moral development, children will learn to accept that there are always winners and losers and it s not wrong to be a loser. Moreover, since all kind of sports include competition, kids will have the chance to be physically developed in an exciting atmosphere. Figure of Merit (FOM) is a mathematical expression that accounts for detection efficiency and background noise, and is used to optimize system performance. The desire of this study is to maximize the detection system s efficiency and minimize its background signal. The highest optimization potential occurs at FOM s peak value. Finding the optimum counting region of interest is an iterative process and an important first step in the characterization of a detection system. A standard solution/sample s FOM value is determined by first counting it and determining its efficiency and spillover. The detector electronics for most detection systems have multiple adjustable parameters (e.g. applied voltage, amplifier gain, low level discriminator), which are adjusted to eliminate electronic noise. These parameter optimizations are useful for reaching the optimum counting conditions. In equation 1, Оµ is the counting efficiency in percent and B is the radiation background count rate. Maximizing the FOM can optimize the conditions in achieving the highest efficiency for a given background. Figure of Merit (FOM) = Оµ^2/B (Eq. 1) The optimization is achieved by adjusting the operating voltage for a given discriminator setting and the discriminator setting for a given operating voltage to find the optimal balance [Pujol et al., 2000]. Reducing the operating voltage of the PMT can decrease the background count rate but may also reduce the counting efficiency. Calculating FOM with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The foundational elements of this education have already been discussed, these being the subjects of music and poetry and rigorous physical training. However, the question remains what other subjects should be added to the education process of the guardians to make them fit rulers of the just city. Socrates takes issue with the manner in which it is currently studied in his time, claiming that those engaged in the subject gain no knowledge because they deal with things they can see, that is, the motions of the stars. He then makes the claim expressed in the quote above, that real astronomers (those concerned with truth and understanding) would not concern themselves with these stellar motions. This idea ties into the desired essence of the guardians education, as the subjects that are to be added should stimulate thought and the search for understanding. The purpose of this study is to prepare the potential rulers for what Socrates calls dialectic, which is essentially pure exploration of thought and reason in the quest for understanding that which is (i.e. the Forms). A parallel to this idea that also makes it quite provocative is the nature of modern astronomy, which often concerns itself with the motions of stars, although in a different, more diverse, and more advanced way than in Socrates time. In Pakistan, there were 14 million girls studying in basic educationin 2005, compared to 18.3 million boys. In other words, there were over 4 million more boys than girls in basic education. This is still an issue in Pakistan where there are more number of boys in education than girls. The disparity in favour of boys was prevalent at all levels of basic education, with the exception of the higher secondary level where the number of girls was very close to equal to the number of boys, which indicates that Pakistan displays a disparity in favour of girls at this stage of education. This implies that many more boys than girls discontinued their education after secondary schoolwith the result that their numbers matched those of the girls in the final level. Next, I will talk about one of the instructors grouping strategies and activities that stuck out to me the most. Finally, I will speak about one change I would make, and why I would make that change. To begin with, the inside physical education classroom is extremely small. Normally there will be two classes in the room at one time, which leads to the instructors dividing the room up with the middle door. When the gym is divided, the left side just has a stage and volleyball nets taking up a small percentage of space. On the other side of the divided room, there are chairs, volleyball polls, and tumbling mats cluttering the rooms space. Normally the Instructor will try to move extra items out of the way as much as possible. If students have to run, then the items are moved to the four furthest corners of that side of the room. Other times the extra items will be placed in the instructors personal office, or even the equipment storage room. On both sides of the gym, there are posters all over the walls to motivate the students to be healthy, happy and enjoy life t the fullest. There are also some pictures of students with their instructors, and more photos of students in uniforms for certain sports. A daily routine for all of my instructors students, would be to come in the classroom and stand in order by their last name. The instructor has already made groups for the students, there are normally 4, but no more than 5 students to each row. After the students get into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Sherman Alexie Use Dark Humor Owens also argues that Alexie s use of dark humor portrays the Native Americans in his stories as so called savages which brings the thought of, why does Sherman Alexie use dark humor? Alexie uses humor to address uncomfortable or confrontational subjects and in no way trying to hurt or discriminate anyone while doing so. Humor is often the only way to address such topics. • 41. Reid Book Report Throughout the book, Reid explores the very ideals and concepts of Confucianism and its relation to the Japanese society in which he encounters. His encounters bring a greater understanding of the Japanese culture and its relationship to the culture of more western nations. The book explains the ideals of respect, responsibility, and familydynamics within the Japanese culture, and their effects on Asian life. It is because of the traditions and values of Confucianism that the Japanese have much lower crime rates than that of the United States, and many other western nations. The lower crime rate is a direct result of the values and morals found within Confucianism. They have a high ideal for respect and sympathy for others, as well as loyalty and wisdom. Though crime may happen, it is considered rare in Japanese culture. Reid describes a time when his 10 year old daughter was going to Disneyland with a friend by themselves and no parental supervision. He was shocked with the response of the mothernot having any worry about the girls going by themselves. Isolation In Disney Pixar s Film Brave In the Disney Pixar animated film Brave, an unconventional princess, Merida, suffers from her own isolation her entire life as she acts contrary to how traditional royalty should. Not only does the movie take Merida on a journey of acceptance and learning, but forces Merida s mother, the queen, to live in exile alone in her own mind as she is transformed into a bear. The meaning of this mental isolation goes deeper than the surface themes of Brave, as Elinor nearly loses her humanity, revealing the impact isolation can have on one s humanity and how dire meaningful relationships are to a functioning society as a whole. So, in this way, Elinor s struggle to go so against the grain to maintain her humanity is made more potent. If she had simply gone with what nature told her, she would become a full fledged bear, unthinking and only relying on instinct. A lack of a comprehensive and uniform method of tracking the substance among the states reveals a flaw in the system of preventative policing. Another survivor, Fred Berdach noted, There were Hitler Youth on the streets [...] and they became bullies. Many of the then Hitler Youth members would have been eligible to become soldiers in WWII, as well as the older ex members. Perhaps the Hitler Youth members played the roles of enforcers of the killing program and pressured others into doing the same. A further demonstration of latent prejudice in twentieth century societies contributing to genocide is the lack of large scale support for the Jews from outsiders. It s the classic story of a man who risks hellfire by dealing with the devil for a brief, yet magnificent, period of otherworldly knowledge and power. This story has been rewritten and reformulated time and time again. I aim to show that the story of Faust is inspired by the story of Adam and Eve. What accounts for this story s persistence? I think it is because readers are gripped by the fantasy of humans possessing divine powers, engaging in adventures and magical exploits, and trafficking with the greatest of evils. Many view the Faust tradition from the perspective of magus literature. Their searches for Faust s beginnings often turn up magicians. The historical Johann Faustus, a sixteenth century charlatan who wandered across Germany, who exercised a minimum of pharmaceutical knowledge...with a maximum amount of malice, was himself a magician. E. M. Butler, in The Myth of the Magus, links Faust with a broad number of magicians extending back to Moses and others.
