Doctor Paddock And Doctor Medaris
Doctor Paddack versus Doctor Medaris
At most colleges it is important for there to be superior professors. Students prefer to choose
professors who have strong teaching styles and who will help them succeed in college. They may have
the same degree or other similarities. However, most professors often have differences between each
other. This is true for the professors at Manhattan Christian College, specifically Doctor Paddock and
Doctor Medaris. Although Doctor Paddock and Doctor Medaris have unique similarities, they share
obvious differences. These differences include measurement of knowledge, interaction with students,
and presentation of material.
There are a variety of different ways for professors to measure the knowledge of their ... Show more

He instead assigns forums, chapter questions, and readings. Doctor Medaris likes for students to have
detailed and thorough responses. The questions from both the forum and the readings are generally
asking about the student s personal leadership role or about their past. As an illustration, he assigned
the questions; What is one of the most challenging changes you have had to make in your life? How
did you handle this change? What have you learned about yourself through this change? Questions
like these, allow the students to think through and process what it is that they believe about leadership
and why. These questions often bring up past memories of either being in leadership or being under
another person s leadership and their effect on the student.
At Manhattan Christian College, they utilize an online system, MCC Online This is an excellent tool
for professors and students to communicate by handling assignments, checking grades, and reviewing
notes. Doctor Paddock and Doctor Medaris consistently interact with their students on MCC Online,
although they use it differently. In this case, Doctor Medaris has students submit their forums and
assigned questions through MCC Online. While on the other hand, Doctor Paddock has students take
the quizzes and tests through this tool and he posts the notes from his lectures after each class. Another
way professors stay interacted with their students is during scheduled class

Aggression Evaluation
The Evaluation and Treatment of Aggression Maintained by Attention and Automatic Reinforcement
Nayely G. Calderon
California State University Sacramento The Evaluation and Treatment of Aggression Maintained by
Attention and Automatic Reinforcement
The studied focused on the evaluation of treatment of aggression maintained by attention and
automatic reinforcement. A study by Iwata, Dorsey, Slifer, Bauman Richman 1982/1994, developed a
functional analysis method. The creation of functional analysis helped researchers evaluate more
effectively multiple functions of destructive behavior simultaneously. Study done by Iwata 1994
showed that the function of behavior can be identified in most cases, however, in a significant
minority of cases, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers taught Ernie to ask for attention instead of engaging in aggressive behaviors by using
picture cards that displayed a form of attention from the therapist (Thompson et al.,1998).
Sessions of 30 s intervals were recorded and a picture card was placed in front of Ernie. If Ernie
handed the picture card to the therapist the therapist would give him attention. If he didn t do anything
15 s into the interval he was prompted on what to do. If he engaged in aggression behavior Ernie was
ignored. After training sessions, the researchers added extinction to FCT. Chin grinding and other
aggressive behaviors were ignored. An ABAB design was used to compare end results from FCT plus
extinction to baseline (Thompson et al.,1998).
Experiment III
This third experiment was conducted to reduce Ernie s chin grinding. It was concluded in the second
functional analysis of experiment two that Ernie s chin grinding was based on automatic
reinforcement. Ernie was provided with a similar stimulation for chin grinding. He was provided with
a device that provided similar stimulation to press against his chin. researchers used response block if
Ernie tried to chin grind on others and prompted him to use the device that was provided for him

2000 Election Problems
Presidential elections within the United States have always been an interesting insight into American
politics and can often divide the nation depending on which candidate you support. Until the most
recent election, many people would cite the Presidential Election of 2000 as one of the most divisive
as well as the strangest elections that we have had in modern history. This was due to the infamous
hanging chad from the butterfly ballots, disagreements in how to handle the recount between the
different branches of Florida s government, as well as the discrepancy between the popular vote and
the electoral vote. We now know that George W. Bush was eventually declared the winner but what is
truly important is how he managed to win the election ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Supreme Court to get involved. One of the many problems was the butterfly ballot used in Palm
Beach. This was a confusing ballot that was structured in a way that trying to vote for the Democratic
candidate could result in a vote for Al Gore, a vote for conservative Pat Buchanan, or even both. This
was because of the hole punch system being used which resulted in many ballots being incorrectly
punched or even punched twice due to the poor layout of the ballot. Another problem was the
excessive identification checks for minority groups while many white voters did not have to show any
identification as well as rumors of illegal road blocks to prevent liberals from voting although that has
not been proven. Due to these implications many citizens of Florida demanded a recount but they
wanted to only recount in the area that would likely increase the vote for Al Gore and skip the places
that could lead to Bush gaining more votes. Originally the Florida Supreme Court wanted to allow the
recounts to continue but Secretary of State Katherine Harris ordered the recounts to stop however the
Florida Supreme Court ruled that the recount should continue despite Harris order. It was unclear
which branch of government could actually make the final decision to stop or continue the recount
which is what caused the Bush v. Gore case to be push into the U.S. Supreme Court. The Supreme
Court ruled that the recount must be halted due to the unfair method being used to recount the votes
because it violated one of the founding principles of modern America that all voters must be treated
equally. Ultimately George Bush won Florida by a margin of 537 votes and gained all of Florida s
electoral votes which gave him a total of 271, one more than what is required. Although George Bush
won the electoral

The Power Of Innovation By Don Tapscott
The Power of Innovation The world has changed over the last ten years, technology has created a new
world, where we have become more dependent on it. In his article, The Eight Net Gen Norms , Don
Tapscott, discusses what he believes the net generation is and how they are defined by eight norms:
Freedom, customization, scrutiny, integrity, collaboration, entertainment, speed, and innovation. (132)
Tapscott makes some very unique observations, but there was one norm, I felt was more important,
innovation. There are many reasons why, but the one main reason is the creation of new ideas. Without
the innovated ideas, we wouldn t have the advanced technology we possess today. Think about the
world without cell phones, no web, or no medical tools? We know for a fact this era couldn t survive
without them. The workplace is starting to turn from the traditional way by allowing the employees to
be heard, but there is still a gap between generations. The power of innovation helps people with
everyday life, changing the way jobs are running, but also has created a rift between the old and new
generations. Let s face it, life is so much better with the technology we possess now. In a matter of
seconds, I can get information about the Roman Empire, just with one click of my phone, or start my
car without my key or me being in it. I reckon this is where the old generation can complain that we
are lethargic and can t do nothing for ourselves. The world has outgrown the old ways and the

Lunar Eclipse
Lunar eclipse

The June 2011 total eclipse
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow). This
can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned (in syzygy ) exactly, or very closely so,
with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type
and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon s location relative to its orbital nodes. Unlike a solar
eclipse, which can only be viewed from a certain relatively small area of the world, a lunar eclipse
may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of the Earth. A lunar eclipse lasts for a few hours,
whereas a total solar eclipse lasts for only a few minutes at any given place, due ... Show more content

Shorter wavelengths are more likely to be scattered by the air molecules and the small particles, and
so by the time the light has passed through the atmosphere, the longer wavelengths dominate. This
resulting light we perceive as red. This is the same effect that causes sunsets and sunrises to turn the
sky a reddish color; an alternative way of considering the problem is to realize that, as viewed from
the Moon, the Sun would appear to be setting (or rising) behind the Earth.
The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of dust or clouds in the atmosphere; this also
controls how much light is scattered. In general, the dustier the atmosphere, the more that other
wavelengths of light will be removed (compared to red light), leaving the resulting light a deeper red
color. This causes the resulting coppery red hue of the Moon to vary from one eclipse to the next.
Volcanoes are notable for expelling large quantities of dust into the atmosphere, and a large eruption
shortly before an eclipse can have a large effect on the resulting color.
Danjon scale
The following scale (the Danjon scale) was devised by André Danjon for rating the overall darkness of
lunar eclipses:[4]
L=0: Very dark eclipse. Moon almost invisible, especially at mid totality. L=1: Dark eclipse, gray or
brownish in coloration. Details

Chapter7 Chapter 1 Summary
Chapter7: The New Age and Related Novel Unsupported Therapies (NUSTs) in Mental Health
Science poses the discussion on the pseudoscience of the New Age therapies as these method of
therapy was popular among pseudoscientist back then as well as still being practice among people in
the mental health field. As the term New Age therapies can be defines as an unconventional and
mystical practices, the term novel unsupported therapy also shows the same definition as it provided
insufficient evidence to support their claim or theory in the treatments based on the American
Psychological Associations (APA) standards. Interestingly, the chapter emphasize on influence of the

Lawsuits regarding RMT that associated with recovering realistic false memory and experiences of the
patients, illustrates that the treatments is not suitable for patients as the author further exemplifies a
study regarding an experiments where they planted fake memory about alien abduction in the patients
mind which resulted in having more realistic experiences compare to the control group. This shows
that fake memory could produce realistic experiences towards the patients and could lead to severe
consequences. Parts work therapy on the other hand deals with identifying and labeling parts of an
individual s personality usually without the diagnosis of DID. Parts work is commonly associated with
IFS therapy that assume traumatic patients poses subpersonalities of DID in order to cope their
aversive events which usually link with negative traits. These traits are treated in order to uncover the
true Self which is the ultimate goal of the therapy. Although the treatment sound legitimate, but there

And memo is one of the tools used for precise and distortion free communication. The topic of our
report is Office Memo: Contrast between Theoretical Concept and Actual Practice . In this report, we
showed the differences as well as the similarities between theoretical concept and actual practice. At
first, we gathered theoretical knowledge about the office memo such as its layout and functions from
several books. Than, we entered into the practical field and collected two samples of office memo and
information about its functions from two renowned organizations. This organizations are 1. Sonali
Bank Limited 2. Social Islami Bank Limited After that, we analyzed both theoretical knowledge and
practical information about memo and contrasted between the two. We mainly focused on the layout
of memo, but also illustrated functions of memo. In case of Sonali Bank Limited, we found that more
elaborate layout of memo are used in communication. This layout is different in many ways from the
theory such as ornamental language is used. But the layout of the memo used by Social Islami Bank is
close to the theory to an extent. But in this organization, memo is used for functions that are different
from the theoretical ones. In our research, we found that every organization does not necessarily
follow the theoretical concept in case of forming and using memo.

Hardship In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton
The Outsiders was written by S.E. Hinton. The book was written in 1967. The Outsiders take place
during the 1960s. The book is about Ponyboy and his gang. They are greasers and going up against the
Socs from the west side. The theme of The Outsiders is hardships can happen to anyone, no matter
what kind of person they are. An example of a hardship is when Johnny dies. Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay
gold... The pillow seemed to sink a little, and Johnny died (Hinton 148). This shows when Johnny died
and Ponyboy was there with him. Ponyboy had become very close to Johnny during their time up in
the old church in Windrixville. Another example is when Dally died. He was jerked half around by the
impact of the bullet, then slowly crumpled with a look

Hiroshima Bombing Cons
On the morning of August 6th, 1945 the Enola Gay dropped the first atom bomb nicknamed the Little
Boy on Hiroshima killing 45,000 people instantly and also more deaths due to radiation. And three
days later another atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki killing thousands of more people. America
shouldn t have dropped the bomb for many reason and they re becuase it is inhumane to kill thousands
of innocent civilians when Japan s Military was crumbling. This leads me to my next argument that
since their military was crumbling you can assume they were going to surrender soon because they
wouldn t have much left if they didn t. And finally the bombs were dropped on cities with little
industrial zones and they were on the outskirts of the town. Not

The exile of an Emperor his Highness now a General; stripped of rank but not hauteur was mitigated,
with no irony, by domestic whiles, rustic repose, and the company of a captor s child. Betsy Balcombe
was her name, a most unusual English girl; she lived on St. Helena isle, her father owned the summer
home that housed the Corsican ogre a monster who deigned to amuse. Betsy, who was then thirteen,
enjoyed the company of Lucifer. And who could better teach a lass to speak French right, or drink
cordials, or break a horse, or break the rules of decorum by severing a Marquis tail? And, let us not
omit to note, the Anecdote of the Sabre in which the Emperor did grandly show Betsy his foil, with
which the girl wielded au fait. And, who to better play the part of a phantom than Napoleon? With
spectres of mad men and ghosts to chill a child with felicity, why not an Emperor to haunt an isle? Tis
Shakespearean this volatile commingling of farce and tragedy; why not Lear and his Fool in one
person; why should gravity not have a laugh since life performs in several acts, and humans make
discrepant themes? This life at times was far from death, resembling a fairy tale of architectural

Essay On The Chimney Sweeper
Set in the times of the Industrial Revolution, Blake s The Chimney Sweeper is a powerful attempt to
fight one of the biggest social injustices at the time: child labour. He illustrates the heartbreaking life
story of thousands of kids through two different points of view, one is exposed in the poem pertaining
to Songs of Innocence (1789) and the other one is exposed in Songs of Experience (1794). Both
poems share the same outline; however, it is the narrator s view the one that changes drastically
between the poems. In the eldest version, the author presents the readers with a young chimney
sweeper full of hope and aspiration whereas in the most recent poem the author reflected a slightly
more experienced child that does not believe in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second one, however, the rhyme scheme was not as defined and there were even some free
rhyme verses. As it would be expected, this breaks completely the musicality of the poem making the
verses sound sharp and losing all possible flow.
Both versions share a common idea that is widely discussed: religion. In the first poem when guided
through Tom s dream, an angel is the one that set the children free. After escaping the coffins, which
represent the chimneys they have to sweep daily, the young chimney sweepers arrive in paradise,
where no worries or sad thoughts seem to exist. When Tom finally wakes up, he comforts himself with
the idea that once they die, the reward for all his hard work will be heaven. In other words, the only
hope they have left is the paradox of having a life after they pass out. Blake managed to first create a
very soft atmosphere in the first stanzas and then progressively darken the environment until reaching
its climax at the end.
(Insert quote)
In contrast, in the second poem, the chimney sweeper has lost all of the faith he had left. He explains
how his parents abandoned him to live this life on his own. He even suggests that they lie to
themselves trying to find comfort in idealistic situations that are very far from his daily life reality.
The young narrator is very critical with religion for using their situation to win adepts

Contaminated Drinking Water Research
Water is necessary to sustain life, but not all water is safe for drinking. Unclean water helps to spread
pathogenic diseases. It is especially dangerous in less populated areas where purified water may not be
readily available. In these areas, it may fall on the responsibility of the individual to find their own
water. People can collect water from streams, rivers, or lakes. The water from these sources, however,
is considered unprotected and cannot be consumed right away. Unprotected water sources can easily
become contaminated and are unfit for drinking. That is why this water has to be put through
purification methods to withdraw all bacteria, chlorine, nitrates, and phosphates in the water. If a

When measuring for bacteria, results from both the total Coliform count and the Fecal Coliform were
collected. Total Coliform accounts for all types of bacteria that is transferred to water by facilitators
such as: soils plants and animals, whereas, fecal coliform is found in the intestinal tracts of warm
blooded animals. Something should be done about water contamination if any coliform is found in the
water (Vermont Dpt. of Health 2014). The EPA has set the standard regulation for coliform in drinking
water at zero because of the high levels of risk associated with the presence of bacteria in drinking
water,. Nitrate, an additional impurity measured, can also have damaging effects if consumed. Nitrate
can enter drinking water from the runoff of fertilizer use, erosion, sewage and the septic tanks leaks.
As stated by the Environmental Protection Agency, Symptoms include shortness of breath and blue
baby syndrome (EPA 2014). The EPA also sets standard maximum contaminant level at 10 mg/L.
When completing the experiment, phosphate, which is naturally occurring in rocks and mineral
deposits and is released during erosion processes facilitated by weather and time, was also measured.
Excess phosphate can promote an increase in plant growth, and in some cases catalyze the death of
fish and other aquatic invertebrates due to the presence of algal blooms. There has been no

Man Vs. Society In The Saga Of The Sioux
The average life expectancy on the Reservation is 47 years for men and 52 years for women. In the
novel, the Saga of the Sioux, the author talks about their point of view, different conflicts, and the
theme. Every day the Sioux are treated badly by the government and it isn t right. In this book, it talks

In the novel, there are two big conflicts that the Sioux face. Those two conflicts are Man vs. Nature

the treaty, searching the rocky passes and clear streams of Paha Sapa for the yellow metal that drove

Disadvantages Of Collective Bargaining
Collective Bargaining and Dispute Settlement System The expression collective bargaining , was
coined by Sydney and Beatrice. This was widely accepted and used in the United States of America
for settling industrial disputes. International Labour Organisation (ILO) through various conventions,
recommendation and other instruments recognizes the right of collective bargaining as a fundamental
right throughout the private and public sectors . Further one principle adopted by ILO is that collective
bargaining is a right of employer and their organisations, on one hand and organisations of workers,
on other hand (first level trade unions, federations and confederations); only in the absence of these
latter organisations, may representatives of the workers concerned conclude collective agreements.
The meaning of the expression collective bargaining has been a subject matter of controversy and it is
defined in variety of ways. However the term Collective bargaining has been defined by the Supreme
Court of India in the case Karnal Leather Karmachari Sangathan v. Liberty Footwear Co. : The
technique by which dispute as to conditions of employment is resolved amicably by agreement rather
than coercion . The conflict here is between the management and the employee and is inherent in an

Who Attends Church And Loves Meeting People

I define myself as an Asian who is twenty years old, who goes to school and study computer science.
Who attends church and loves meeting people by being social. In A Christmas Story (Clark 1983)

The Osi And Open Systems Interconnection
The OSI, Open Systems Interconnection, model was first introduced in 1984 and was design to be a
model and teaching tool to help better understand the rules of networking that systems must undergo
to communicate. The OSI model consist of seven hierarchical layers that defines the path that data
must travel. These layers are: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and
Application. The first and lowest level of the model is the Physical layer. The physical layer consists
of the basic networking hardware transmission technologies of a network (Osi model.com). Here you
could find specifications for telecommunication like types of wired cables such as; copper, optical, or
coaxial. In this layer, you would configure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third layer of the OSI model is the network layer and is where the routers and layer 3 switches
would be. This layer is responsible for controlling subnets and deciding which path the data should
take based on certain conditions. This layer is also responsible for IP (internet protocol) addresses, this
includes both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Packets in this layer identify where the traffic originated
(source IP address) and where it is going (destination IP address) (Gibson 166). In short, the OSI layer
three network layer is responsible for connections, host addressing, and message forwarding.
Protocols that operate on this layer are IPsec and ICMP. Layer four of the OSI model consist of the
transport layer. In this layer, the protocols in this layer provide a host to host communication servers
for applications (osi model.com). Within the layer four transport layer, we have TCP (transmission
control protocol) and UDP (user datagram protocol) protocols. TCP is a more reliable protocol in ways
of guaranteeing the delivery of the IP traffic. With TCP, you have a three way handshake in place,
meaning that when you send a segment you should receive an acknowledgement that the segment was
received. If it was not received, then you could resend. When using UDP, guarantee delivery of
packets is not the main concern. The main advantage of UDP is that

Carol Berkin s Revolutionary Mothers
Revolutionary Mothers: Women in the Struggle for America s Independence (2004) written by Carol
Berkin, the book is about the way the women were affected in the Revolutionary War from 1775 to
1783.
Carol Berkin is a professor at both Baruch College, and the Graduate Center of the City University of
New York, teaching American Colonial and Revolutionary History and also Women s History. Berkin
received her B.A. from Barnard College and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University. She is
also the author of various books including First Generations: Women of Colonial America (1996), A
Brilliant Solution: Inventing the American Constitution (2001), and Civil War Wives: The Life and

in writing Revolutionary Mothers was to show how the women were affected. She writes about
Abigail Adams, Betsy Ross, and Molly Pitcher on how the women struggled physically and mentally
to survive during this war. Also how they struggle to be heard by the men as they where just kept and

Raising Your Game With These Professional Casino Tips
Article 4 Raise your game with these professional casino tips
Myths and rumours go hand in hand when it comes to online casinos. The feeling that the games
against you or your lucks not in because of ulterior powers is something that every gambler feels at
least once in their life. Let me tell you now, success is not something that is predetermined, it comes
about through skill. The following are online casino tips direct from the professionals that can help
you raise your game and banish away the bad luck.
Monitor your money
It can t be stressed enough, but the moment you lose control of your money is the moment you lose

The bets maybe lower and the short term gains might be smaller, but over the long term there is no
doubt that you ll be able to find more success. Lower skilled games are branded safety nets in some
playing circles, but the fact is that if it isn t broke don t fix it.
Know when to walk away
It is undoubtedly the most important tip in this article and one that every player should take note of.
Gambling is an activity that should be fun and not something that weighs on your mind and stresses
you out. If you feel that gambling is costing you much more than you realised then you must walk
away. Losing streaks can steamroll out of control and clear your account entirely if you are not
careful. One thing that many professionals choose to do is to employ cool down periods for when
things start going wrong. This means that if you are losing hand after hand or spin after spin, you
invoke a time frame, whether be 1 day or 100 days, in which you don t gamble. This will prevent you
ending up gambling money you shouldn t and preserve whatever money you have left.

Cold War Research Paper
When most people think of War they think of weapons, killing, and vicious attacks, however, that s
not what the Cold War was; hence the name. The Cold war was primarily a conflict between the
Eastern bloc and the Western bloc involving mainly economic and political actions, but no direct
military action between the United States and the USSR. The Eastern bloc consisted of the Soviet
Union and its satellite states, and the Western bloc consisted of the United States and its NATO allies.
The Cold War began in 1945, nearly immediately after the end of World War II, then lasting about
forty five years. This war was caused by three main things, those being mistrust between the alliances,
differentiating economic and political systems, and major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These proxy wars were very malicious and were often occurring in Korea, Vietnam, and Angola. In
addition to this war costing so many lives, this war also had a large money cost; nearly Eight trillion
dollars. This shocking cost tends to take a lot of people off guard, although war is expensive, most
people were expecting things one to be relatively cheap because it was not involving any military
action. However, this war was full of threats, especially the threat of using nuclear weapons. In order
to have an accurate threat, the United States would continuously be building nuclear weapons in case
this war reached that extent. Therefore, that s where the large cost came in, because, the United States
was spending about thirty five billion dollars per year on the construction of nuclear weaponry. This
approximately forty five year war was a constant worldwide clash between the Soviet Communism
and the American capitalism. Fortunately, after losing so many lives and so much money, it is thought
that the United States finally won the Cold War. However, the United States is only remembered as the
winners, because the Soviet Union lost. The Soviet Union did not meet their goal of destroying the
west and their capitalist

In order to design such a building for seismological risks, preliminary research is done about the
geological conditions of the city, fault locations, and earthquake history. Three earthquakes were
chosen that occurred in the vicinity of the city, and their characteristics were analyzed, as were any
effects resulting from those quakes, including liquefaction, landslides, or settlement. At the conclusion
of this project, recommendations for the structure were provided in relation to the seismic analysis of
the area. The structure must follow any codes regarding seismic design, as well as perform up to the
standard set by various organizations, such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Introduction
1.1 Background Information
Earthquakes rank as one of the most devastating natural disasters that can occur, causing damage to
multiple facets of society. Earthquakes can cause major damage to vital infrastructure, cost human
lives, and trigger other events that can cause even more destruction. Throughout history, earthquakes
have caused millions, even billions of dollars of damage to cities and towns alike. Much of the
destruction resulting from earthquakes is a product of poor design against seismic loads and forces.
However as we have become more educated about what causes earthquakes and where they come
from, we have been able to better fortify our structures to resist such forces, and have been able to

QUARTER 6 Quarter six began by updating each of the product lines that Team 4 features. The
Workhorse and Traveler market segment both had the same changes in this quarter. Here, the team
analyzed both the customer needs and best competitor product for this market segment. The change
made here we added ultrafast computing power; this was one of the most important features in terms
of customer needs. Next, the group altered the Innovator product; ultrafast computing power was
added, as well as changing the desktop to a 21 high resolution monitor. These decisions were based of
the leading competitor s product in this market segment; the strategy implemented here was to match

The features Team 4 invested in was the Touch Screen and high speed Networking. By investing in
this, Team 4 was setup to be very successful in the Mercedes target, but also allowed for the other
product segments to be a step above the competitors products. After analyzing the results from the
previous quarter, it was determined that the prices set for each segment were not sufficient. Product
sales priority were also not properly adjusted. With the R D investments, sales priorities needed to be
changed for the main focus to become the most profitable market segments. Prices were not
competitive which in turned decreased revenue, market share, and profitability. To become more
competitive we altered the prices in each market segment. The Workhorse product was the first to
change, the price was lowered to $2500 in an attempt to increase sales; at this price Team 4 was still
making a profit on this product, as well as making the price much more competitive. The Workhorse
sales priority was also lowered to 3rd in Americas and 4th in APAC and EMEA. This product was not
selling as well as we had hoped, and was no longer as profitable as it once was which led to this
decision. Next, the Innovator product s price was adjusted; this involved a price increase to $4100.
This price was adjusted to include the new

Crime And Deviance In The Dark Knight By Christopher Nolan
Throughout The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan crime and deviance is seen throughout the film.
Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as society accepts crime for those whose are
helping them and at the same time punishes those who are punished. Society in Gotham accepts crime
when the Batman commits it to help for the betterment of society; however, crime is not accepted
when it is committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly through the joker.
The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the Labeling Approach, Human
Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The Labelling Approach is a theory in which an
individual s identity is determined or influenced by the terms that is used to describe or classify them,
through the use of serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark Knight when the Joker recruits
those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been outcast by society. This makes them
believe that have a sense of being within society as they start to create their own society, and those
who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts into place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those
who have a negative label, do to the Joker having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of
society. Not being accepted by anyone, even his own, which forces him to act on such a label through
committing crimes that are not even the norms of the criminal society. This behavior is being seen as a
rationale by both sides of society the general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his
associates fit within the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to
make sure that those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a mental illness, and
who perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives the people of Gotham as a sense of
power over those that have a label, and the sense that they have a position over society. Furthermore,
the Human Rights Approach argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no matter of
what context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or not. This is
seen within The Dark Knight when

Informative Down Syndrome
Formative #2 Down Syndrome is a medical condition that causes a delay in how a child develops,
both mentally and physically. Each year, about 6,000 babies are born with Down Syndrome (DS),
which is about 1 in 700 babies born. The cause of DS is unknown, meaning scientists don t know how
people get it, but we do know how it happens after the diagnosis. A baby is usually born with 46
chromosomes, 23 from each parent. Most likely is a DS case, the child has 47 chromosomes and has
an extra chromosome 21 . The extra genetic material is why children get DS, but scientists don t know
how it happens. Down Syndrome cannot be prevented, but it can be detected before birth. Many health

Ethos In TED Talk
Mallory Soldner, in her TED Talk Your company s data could end world hunger given at a TED
Institute event in 2016, successfully argues that if companies donate data, decision scientists, and
technology to gather new sources of data to humanitarian organizations, that lives can be saved.
Soldner is able to support her claims by sharing her experiences using data to drive efficiencies, save
money, and feed more people while working for the World Food Program. In Soldner s TED Talk, she
uses ethos to build credibility and rapport with the audience. Solder also uses logos by detailing her
experience at the World Food Program and demonstrating the value of the data, and explaining why it
makes business sense. Soldner s target audience is executives of large companies.
Soldner began her TED Talk by using ethos as a form of persuasion with the audience. She does this
by describing walking into the World Food Program building in Rome, Italy as a confident Ph.D.
student, armed with a prototype tool developed at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In her
description of this event, she is able to connect with the audience and build rapport by using a style of
speech and tone that includes a mix of humor, humility, and a clear understanding of logistics
optimization. Soldner s story allowed her to use ethos with the audience in a subtle but entertaining
way. Soldner used her story to highlight her experience and understanding of the needs of

Similarities Between Bonnie And Clyde
Are you familiar with Bonnie and Clyde? If not, they were a couple, who were also criminals.
Through The Great Depression, they went around the United States committing crimes. They ran
against the law for just about four years, they were just about invincible. I will be talking about how
they met, their early life, and their journey together. They had a very interesting journey. It is so
interesting how opposite they were, yet still so much alike.
Bonnie Parker was born on October 1, 1910. When she was just four years old her father died, and her
mother took her family to a poor suburb of Dallas. From several people, Bonnie was beautiful, was 4

would she stay with Clyde and live a life running from the law, or would she leave him and start

Ethnicity and Exclusion through Space
Chapter two
Methodology
The first point of call was to have a clear and sharp understanding of the dissertation topic and this
was done through the use of online research as there is a vast amount of information that can be
collected in relation to integrating communities. This was then followed by the key significance to the
main objective which is gathering data. To help with the findings and analysis, the research has to be
focused more on areas where communities benefit through people of different backgrounds living
together and sharing basic commodities, these could be sharing a kitchen, communal gardens, open
spaces and even a bench in the public park.2 As there are quite a number of diverse people in the
community, a lot of information was collected from them through one on one discussion. Although the
information collected was not very satisfactory, care had to be taken as to select what to use. This was
also the issue with selecting case studies which deals specifically with sociable housing which in these
communities is widely known as co housing. The evidence collected from sources had to be carefully
selected and used accordingly. A model was then developed to assess how people of different
background can be incorporated through various substances. This was then implemented within
separate case studies and the results explored and analysed. The model was then tried on another
project to see if it works.
The method of research used in this thesis is by use

Essay Present Day Macroeconomy
After nearly two years of sluggish economic growth, the pace of economic expansion has finally
began to accelerate. Today the U.S. economy is strong and getting stronger. After experiencing a series
of significant shocks during the previous years recession, dot com collapse and stock market
meltdown, terrorist attacks, and corporate wrongdoing, the American economy has managed to remain
optimistic. Over the past three quarters, real GDP has grown at the fastest pace in nearly twenty years.
Job creation is moving into full gear. The economy has posted steady job gains for each of the last ten

standards, with the CPI (Consumer Price ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One explanation for this deceleration is due in part to the increased number of imports the United
States had during the second quarter.
To comprehend GDP as an indicator of economic activity, we must fully understand each of its four
sub categories. Consumption is the spending by households on goods and services, with the exception
of purchases of new housing. Personal consumption expenditures are broken down into durable goods,
nondurable goods, and services. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that personal consumer
expenditures have been increasing every quarter from August of 2003 to August of 2004 with a
gradual deceleration. The percent change from August 2003 to August 2004 on all item expenditures
is 2.1%. The majority of these expenditures are found in services. According to The Heritage
Foundation, Policy Research and Analysis, the workforce is transitioning. Already over 80 percent of
United States workers are in the service industry, mostly with high skills and pay. Manufacturing jobs
have declined from 17 million in the late 1990s to 14.4 million jobs today. Knowing that our economy
is putting continual emphasis on service business, it easy to understand why this area of the economy
is where most of Americans money is spent. Nondurable goods follow close behind; as they seem to
contain the necessities and fundamental expenditures every household endures. These include food,

The Effect Of Myotonic Dystrophy Kinase Related Cdc42...
Introduction/Background: Cell motility is heavily studied, mainly due to the importance of cell
motility in a living cell for normal physiological functions. 3 Phosphoinositide dependent kinase 1
(PDK1) is integral kinase that phosphorylates serine/threonine residues in activation loops of various
proteins that function in metabolism, grown, proliferation, and survival of various cells (Fyffe et al.,
2013). Located on the human chromosome 16p13.3, it is ubiquitously expressed in human tissue, as
well as other animals such as Drosophilla (Alessi et al., 1997). But PDK1 functionality is beyond just
normal human cells, and has been heavily studied in directional cell migration for both physiological
and pathological processes such as wound healing and tumor metastasis (Gagliardi et al., 2014).
Myotonic dystrophy kinase related CDC42 binding kinase α (MRCKα) is a Rho binding kinase that
has been shown to cause actin cytoskeleton reorganization for cell motility through light chain
phosphorylation, which is required in cell motility (Chen et al., 1999). MRCK kinases play integral
roles in actin myosin regulations by being downstream effectors of GTPase CDC42. Activation of
GTPase CDC42 and actin cytoskeleton reorganizations are both vital in cell motility, as the conversion
of GTP to GDP provide actin filament degradation, which in turn allows for the formation of new
filaments needed for movement of the cell.
The authors of this paper attempt to deduce which domains of PDK1

The Socialization Process Of Children
Through the socialization process, children learn gender roles at birth. In our society today, we buy
boy infants blue and girls infants pink. We even apply these color coded gender labels while a baby is
still in the womb. Gender socialization occurs through four categories: family, education, peer groups,
and mass media. Each category reinforces gender roles by creating and maintaining the norm
expectations for gender specific behavior. At an early age, children have an understanding that there
are distinct expectations for them based off of their gender. Studies show that children are very much
conscious of what gender roles are and how their role is supposedly portrayed by the age two or three;
at four or five, most children are appropriately displaying their specific gender role (Kane, 1996).
Most boys are given toy car, guns and action figures, all toys that promote aggression and introverted
playtime. Girls are often given dolls and dress up apparel that foster nurturing, social closeness, and
role play. These gender roles will continue on throughout their life. Thus creating a barrier for women
and men, predominantly women to have to try to break through. Always facing scrutiny if they step
outside of the gender specific spectrums society has set for them.
Law enforcement, military, and politics are usually predominantly occupied by men although women
tend to outnumber men in care related occupations like childcare, healthcare, and social work. These

Gadsden Purchase
The Gadsden Purchase of 1853 is one of the most monumental land purchases in United States history.
In basic terms, the Gadsden Purchase was an area of land that was acquired by the United States from
Mexico in order to build a railway for the transportation of goods in the South from East to West in
order to fulfill Manifest Destiny. Throughout this paper, I hope to accurately navigate through the
events prior to the Gadsden Purchase as well as the early life of James Gadsden. Although many

They called it the Gadsden Purchase, which the United States agreed to pay Mexico ten million dollars
for thirty eight thousand square miles of land. Ten million dollars back in 1853 is equivalent to two
hundred and eighty million dollars today. The Southern transcontinental railroad that James Gadsden
had dreamed up was never built.
The treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which ended the Mexican American war in 1848 was a very
important decision in our history. We allowed the Mexican government to keep Mesilla Valley in place
of them giving us the Santa Rita Mountains. We believed that we would profit off of this compromise
due to the fact that we thought there was rich copper deposits, and some silver and gold which had not
yet been mined. Little did we know that the Mesilla Valley was essential for the construction of a
Southern Transcontinental Railroad. The reason it was important for the railroad was because it
consisted of flat desert land about fifty miles north to south and 200 miles wide, east to west. There
were two parcels of the land that President Pierce instructed Gadsden to try and buy. The Baja
California Peninsula was the first for fifty million dollars or the thirty eight thousand square miles of
dry arid desert. Santa Ana needed money badly to help build up his army to defend against the very
people wanting to pay him, the United States. He thought the best solution was to sell as little land as

Being Covered from the Truth in Araby by James Joyce
Araby by James Joyce, is a short story about a young boy trying to find and his search for inner
happiness. The main setting takes place in the boy s neighborhood where he lives with his aunt and
uncle. The sub setting takes place in an Araby or English bazaar, a carnival if you will. In the
neighborhood we find that there is; an uninhabited house that has not been occupied for some time, a
girl, who s referred to as Mangan s sister , whom the boy has a lustful crush on, and a story of a
deceased priest. In the Araby we find a lot of empty booths, along with some hollow characters. The

They would play until fear came upon them of being seen by an adult or passerby. Then they would
stop, and keep themselves hid from the truth of sight , or someone seeing them, in the shadows. If my
uncle was seen tuning the corner we hid in the shadow until we had seen him safely housed. Or if
Mangan s sister came out on the doorstep to call her brother in to his tea we watched her from our

The boy also hid his inner self from the truth, like the house, because of his own lust for Mangan s
sister. He, being a boy, did not understand what love was, yet pursued it trying to gain inner happiness.
Each morning he would lie on the floor in the front parlour watching her door. The blind was pulled

heart leaped (para. 4). He lusts after her thinking that is was pure love.
Later in a conversation between the two they talked about going to the Araby and the boy told her that

Dickens. This novel was first published as a serial in 1837 39, but was originally published in
England, in 1846. The main characters are Oliver, Fagin, Nancy, Rose Maylie, Mr. Brownlow, Mr.
Bumble, Mr. Sowerberry, Mr. Gamfield, Dodger, and Bill Sikes. This story is of an orphan named
Oliver Twist. He experiences a miserable existence in a workhouse and later is placed with an
undertaker. Dickens is known for his work to have unromantic portrayal of criminals with their sordid
lives. Dickens also exposes cruel treatment that many orphans experience in London during the era the
novel took place. Dickens, we could consider him as a man of rich ... Show more content on

The book lies in the revelation of those moral, personal, and political instincts that helped make up his
character along with his support of being a literary genius. Oliver Twist is by far the most depressing
of all the books Dickens has wrote. Although the novels ugliness gives the novel a taste of honesty to
give it a spontaneous and splendid output. Dickens had readers laughing with his first great story
Pickwick and then having Oliver Twist as his encore of his novels. Although Dickens did have this
other kind of energy which was horrible, uncanny, and barbaric. Dickens liked this energy and using it
in his work most the time. Dickens is close to all the permanent human things and religion. He is
allied to the people of the real poor, who love nothing so much as to talk about funerals and drinking a
cheerful glass. His gloom and gaiety are the mark of religion and democracy and a mark him off from
the moderate happiness of philosophers. Which created stoicism which is the virtue and the creed of
aristocrats. In March 1832, Dickens became a journalist and after serving on two newspapers and he
gained experience as a parliamentary reporter. In 1834, he joined the prominent Morning Chronicle
and got a reputation for being one of the most fastest and the most accurate reporter in London. Also
in addition to his metropolitan era of his life, he had an assignment that took him all over

Essay On Debonairs Pizza
Debonairs Pizza was founded in 1991 by two university students, Craig McKenzie and Andrew
Harvey. Craig McKenzie operated from a family bakery in Pietermaritzburg. In 1996 Debonairs was
bought by the extremely successful Steers Group of Companies, (now Famous Brands) which allowed
Debonairs access to the most professional and refined support system available within the fast food
franchising industry.
Debonairs Pizza is broadly renowned for pioneering the pizza category in South Africa and for
familiarising the country with the concept of take out and home delivery. With 2017 being Debonairs
Pizza s 26th year of operating, the franchise has accomplished many milestones. On its first night of
operating in 1991, Debonairs delivered eight pizzas and today roughly 2.2 million transactions are
conducted in South Africa and the Rest of the African region every month. Correspondingly, some
27.5 million pizzas are delivered per year. Moreover, Debonairs was the first South African fast food
franchise to offer online and mobile ordering as well as free delivery, but only over orders costing
R50. In 2001, the brand s first non delivery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The CSI initiative which launched in 2012 has since then delivered over 121 000 flat breads as of the

end of 2014 as well as pilot restaurants in Ethiopia and Angola and by the time November 2014
arrived Debonairs celebrated its momentous 500th branch opening in Newtown Junction in
Johannesburg s CBD. Recently the 600th store opened during the end of 2016 and to celebrate this
launch, Debonairs branches gave away 100 free pizzas. Debonairs Pizza has not only expanded

Vyse s The Sculptor
The Sculptor
No longer a student, but reluctant to return to the Potteries, and what Vyse described as its stifling
artistic environment. He would stay in London and become a fine art sculptor. This was a brave
decision by Vyse. The position of a modeller was open for Vyse at the Doulton Art Studio, Burslem.
Emphatic in his rejection, for him modelling in Burslem was out of the question. Vyse liked to boast
that he had once studied with his friend Septimus Bennett, the younger brother of author Arnold
Bennett. Later, Vyse would say about him scathingly, Septimus went back to work in the Potteries, not
me, I stuck it out in London. Not having a studio of his own, this period of his career proved to be
hard one for Vyse. He found some work as a freelance sculptor, and eventually he found working

Royal Academy Exhibitions
In 1911, Vyse aged twenty nine, submitted three works to the Royal Academy, the maximum number
allowed under the rules prevailing at the time. Exhibition rules for works of sculpture were rigorous,
in ways unthinkable today. Figurative sculpture, the RA reasoned, was either well modelled or badly
modelled and its presentation within a certain format and genre, and was to be assessed on the quality
of its interpretation. Vyse exhibited a group work titled The Kiss RA1857, a sensitive study of a nude
couple caught up in an intimate embrace (see page 9). A second figure Aphrodite RA782, also a nude,
the whereabouts of this work is presently unknown. His final exhibit, was a portrait statuette of
Elizabeth Gurney Fry, RA1759 (1780 1845). Desmond Eyles, in his book Royal Doulton Figures,
hypothesised that Vyse had based his design, on Alfred Drury s (1856 1944) model. Eyles however,
has muddied the water by a simple matter of attribution dates. His conjecture has a basis in the

Creativity And The Mad Genius
Creativity and the Mad Genius On July 2, 1961, Ernest Hemingway put a gun to his head. Seventy one
years earlier, on July 29, 1890, Vincent van Gogh shot himself in the abdomen while painting a wheat
field. Robin Williams hung himself on August 24, 2014, less than two centuries after Vincent van
Gogh. Along with Ludwig von Beethoven, who died of natural causes in 1827, four of the greatest
creative minds each suffered from bipolar disorder, depression, or epilepsy, usually suffering from
other physical ailments as well. Ernest Hemingway was the only one to seem to have a genetic
disposition towards mental illness. None of these men led similar lives. Van Gogh only saw one of his
paintings sold, while Beethoven was an acclaimed composer by the age of twenty nine. Hemingway
was friends with some of the greatest literary minds of the day, and Robin Williams was one of the
most successful comedians to date. The common link, besides their mental illnesses, is the idea that
each of these men were searching for something more within their respective arts. Four fields of fine
arts that require the constant creation of something new claimed the lives of four men who gave it all
they had, some losing, and some finding themselves along the way. Over the past sixty years, facts
about depression and the reality of it have come to light; however, there are still negative stigmas
concerning the mental illness and how people ought to endure through the pain. Despite these negative

In the story we find out that Wes is an alcoholic who can t control his consumption, which resulted in
the loss of his wife Edna and their two children bobby and Cheryl. His addiction kept pushing him
away from his family. Wes had quit his girlfriend, or she d quit him . (Page 16, line 13.) Which shows
us that his alcohol abuse would lead to a big loss in his life, but Edna still loves Wes and she can t let
him go, because she is a forgiving person and she showed that when she chose to put her wedding ring
back on. I put my wedding ring back on. I hadn t worn the ring in 2 years not since the night Wes was
drunk and threw his ring into a peach orchard . (Page 16, lines 25 28) their Children Bobby and Cheryl

What Is The System Of A Computerized System
According to the E R diagram shown as above, the new computerised system would establish four
different tables in the database. In addition, those four different tables would be used to store the
information or data which is about riders, staff, horses and the attendance of different riders. The first
entity in this diagram is the rider. To support the daily operation of the whole organisation and get
ready for the annual statistic report for the NZRDA, the HGRDA s database would store the riders
personal information. The personal information about riders would involve riders first name, riders
last name, date of birth, ethnicity, disability detail, additional information and gender. Also, the table
of riders in the HGRDA s database ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides, the third entity in the E R diagram shown above is the horse. Because the main business of
the HGRDA is providing different horse riding lesson with clients, the HGRDA has a demand in using
the computerised system to manage the horse. As a result of this, the database would have a horse
table to store all the information about the horses owned by the HGRDA. In the horse table, a large
variety of information would be stored, which includes horses names, ages, heights and status. In
addition, to identify different data or information stored in the horse table, each horse would have its
own unique id. Additionally, the fourth entity is the staff. To manage the employee in the HGRDA in a
more efficient way, the information about the staff would be recorded in the database. The HGRDA s
employees are not only made up of full time staff, but also some volunteers. Because of this, there are
two different staff types and the database would have two independent tables to store data. For the
paid people, the table of paid people would be used. In this table, the information about the staff s first
name, last name, phone number, email address, and work position would be stored. Then, for the
volunteer, another table called the volunteer table would be used. This table would record the similar
information as the paid people table. Then, to identify different rows of data in the table easily, each
staff would have a unique id. However, there

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pcr
Polymerase Chain Reaction
The enzymatic or the molecular xeroxing process in which a particular region of DNA is replicated
several times to yield thousands of copies of a specific sequence is termed as Polymerase chain
reaction (PCR). The process of PCR employs a sophisticated and precise pattern of heating and
cooling of samples in a thermal cycler, over 30 cycles.
Each cycle generates a copy of the target DNA sequence for each molecule incorporating the target
sequence. Oligonucleotide primers define the boundaries of the amplified product which are
complementary to the 3 ends of the target sequence.
Since its invention in 1983 by Kary Mullis; PCR has radically changed our approach to molecular
biology. It brought forward a new perspective in the field of medical sciences and genetics. ... Show

It is a simple technique to understand and use, and it produces results rapidly (Vogel et al., 2012). It is
highly sensitive, with the potential to produce millions to billions of copies of a specific product for
sequencing, cloning, and analysis. This is true of qPCR as well, but qPCR has the advantage of
quantification of the synthesized product. Thus, it can be used to analyze alterations of gene
expression levels in tumors, microbes, or other disease states.
However, PCR also has limitations. Because it is highly sensitive, any form of contamination of the
sample by even trace amounts of DNA can produce misleading results (Vogel et al., 2012; Smith and
Osborn, 2009). In addition, to design primers for PCR, some prior sequence data are needed.
Therefore, PCR can be used only to identify the presence or absence of a known pathogen or gene.
Another limitation is that the primers used for PCR can anneal nonspecifically to sequences that are
similar, but not completely identical, to target DNA. Moreover, incorrect nucleotides can be
incorporated into the PCR sequence by the DNA polymerase, albeit at a very low

The Paraphilia That I Choose For Dicuss Is Transvestic...
Please provide a summary of what paraphilia you researched in this weeks DB and assignment. The
paraphilia that I choose to dicuss is transvestic fetishism which has two parts for the diagnosis they are
a) over a period of at least 6 months, in a heterosexual male, recurrent, intense sexually arousing
fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving cross dressing and b) the fantasies, sexual urges, or
behaviors cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important
areas of functioning. There mey be an increased risk for sexual acting out for example, subjects have
accidentally died when they were engaged in autoerotic asphyxia, which is a high risk paraphilic
behavior based on self induced cerebral anoxia by hanging or suffocation during masturbation. In one
study results indicated that 36 men and 5 women ever having experienced sexual arousal from actual
cross dressing behavior, results suggest that sexual arousal to cross dressing is rare, but could be
associated with potentially criminal paraphilic sexual behavior such as voyeuristic and exhibitionistic
acts, and there was a non significant trend suggesting that childhood sexual victimization was related
to transvestic fetishism. Was there any research located linking bullying and paraphilia? Explain
findings. There were elements found in the childhood/adolescent hisory of sadistic offender they
include aggression to peers (may include intentional pain infliction), cruelty to

The Importance Of The AP Literature Exam
What is the AP literature exam, and why should I care? Many high school students ask themselves this
question as they are drawing near to the date of their exam. The fact that this question is asked
constantly is exactly the reason that Mr. McGee has assigned this essay to the AP Literature class. The
AP Lit test consists of two parts, and the first is the multiple choice section. The second part, has three
free response essay questions that must be answered in two hours.Of course, if a student wishes to do
well on a test they should have an understanding of how it is scored, and this AP test is no different.
Using the text Five Steps to a Five, and Crash Course, a student can develop an idea of what the AP
Literature Exam will look like. The first part of the AP Lit Exam is a section comprised of fifty five
multiple choice questions that thoroughly test a student s knowledge about prose and poetry. Within
these questions You can expect to see 4 5 excerpts of prose and poetry, (Howell). These excerpts are
without titles, authors or a date, the student is completely reliant upon their knowledge to answer.
Although the date of the texts are not given, one can expect it to be between the 16th century and the
21st century, not that that helps at all. Most of these works will be in English, but occasionally they
will be written in a translated form. According to experts, there are eight types of multiple choice
questions that may appear on the test: reading comprehension

Students prefer to choose professors who have strong teaching styles and who will help them succeed in college. They may have the same degree or other similarities. However, most professors often have differences between each other. This is true for the professors at Manhattan Christian College, specifically Doctor Paddock and Doctor Medaris. Although Doctor Paddock and Doctor Medaris have unique similarities, they share obvious differences. These differences include measurement of knowledge, interaction with students, and presentation of material. There are a variety of different ways for professors to measure the knowledge of their ... What have you learned about yourself through this change? Questions like these, allow the students to think through and process what it is that they believe about leadership and why. These questions often bring up past memories of either being in leadership or being under another person s leadership and their effect on the student. At Manhattan Christian College, they utilize an online system, MCC Online This is an excellent tool for professors and students to communicate by handling assignments, checking grades, and reviewing notes. Doctor Paddock and Doctor Medaris consistently interact with their students on MCC Online, although they use it differently. In this case, Doctor Medaris has students submit their forums and assigned questions through MCC Online. A study by Iwata, Dorsey, Slifer, Bauman Richman 1982/1994, developed a functional analysis method. The creation of functional analysis helped researchers evaluate more effectively multiple functions of destructive behavior simultaneously. Researchers taught Ernie to ask for attention instead of engaging in aggressive behaviors by using picture cards that displayed a form of attention from the therapist (Thompson et al.,1998). Sessions of 30 s intervals were recorded and a picture card was placed in front of Ernie. If Ernie handed the picture card to the therapist the therapist would give him attention. If he didn t do anything 15 s into the interval he was prompted on what to do. If he engaged in aggression behavior Ernie was ignored. After training sessions, the researchers added extinction to FCT. Chin grinding and other aggressive behaviors were ignored. An ABAB design was used to compare end results from FCT plus extinction to baseline (Thompson et al.,1998). Experiment III This third experiment was conducted to reduce Ernie s chin grinding. It was concluded in the second functional analysis of experiment two that Ernie s chin grinding was based on automatic reinforcement. Ernie was provided with a similar stimulation for chin grinding. • 4. 2000 Election Problems Presidential elections within the United States have always been an interesting insight into American politics and can often divide the nation depending on which candidate you support. Until the most recent election, many people would cite the Presidential Election of 2000 as one of the most divisive as well as the strangest elections that we have had in modern history. This was due to the infamous hanging chad from the butterfly ballots, disagreements in how to handle the recount between the different branches of Florida s government, as well as the discrepancy between the popular vote and the electoral vote. We now know that George W. Bush was eventually declared the winner but what is truly important is how he managed to win the election ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Supreme Court to get involved. One of the many problems was the butterfly ballot used in Palm Beach. This was a confusing ballot that was structured in a way that trying to vote for the Democratic candidate could result in a vote for Al Gore, a vote for conservative Pat Buchanan, or even both. This was because of the hole punch system being used which resulted in many ballots being incorrectly punched or even punched twice due to the poor layout of the ballot. Another problem was the excessive identification checks for minority groups while many white voters did not have to show any identification as well as rumors of illegal road blocks to prevent liberals from voting although that has not been proven. Due to these implications many citizens of Florida demanded a recount but they wanted to only recount in the area that would likely increase the vote for Al Gore and skip the places that could lead to Bush gaining more votes. Originally the Florida Supreme Court wanted to allow the recounts to continue but Secretary of State Katherine Harris ordered the recounts to stop however the Florida Supreme Court ruled that the recount should continue despite Harris order. It was unclear which branch of government could actually make the final decision to stop or continue the recount which is what caused the Bush v. Gore case to be push into the U.S. Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ruled that the recount must be halted due to the unfair method being used to recount the votes because it violated one of the founding principles of modern America that all voters must be treated equally. Ultimately George Bush won Florida by a margin of 537 votes and gained all of Florida s electoral votes which gave him a total of 271, one more than what is required. • 5. The Power Of Innovation By Don Tapscott The Power of Innovation The world has changed over the last ten years, technology has created a new world, where we have become more dependent on it. In his article, The Eight Net Gen Norms , Don Tapscott, discusses what he believes the net generation is and how they are defined by eight norms: Freedom, customization, scrutiny, integrity, collaboration, entertainment, speed, and innovation. (132) Tapscott makes some very unique observations, but there was one norm, I felt was more important, innovation. There are many reasons why, but the one main reason is the creation of new ideas. Without the innovated ideas, we wouldn t have the advanced technology we possess today. Think about the world without cell phones, no web, or no medical tools? We know for a fact this era couldn t survive without them. The workplace is starting to turn from the traditional way by allowing the employees to be heard, but there is still a gap between generations. The power of innovation helps people with everyday life, changing the way jobs are running, but also has created a rift between the old and new generations. Let s face it, life is so much better with the technology we possess now. In a matter of seconds, I can get information about the Roman Empire, just with one click of my phone, or start my car without my key or me being in it. I reckon this is where the old generation can complain that we are lethargic and can t do nothing for ourselves. The world has outgrown the old ways and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Lunar Eclipse Lunar eclipse [pic] [pic] The June 2011 total eclipse A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow). This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned (in syzygy ) exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon s location relative to its orbital nodes. Unlike a solar eclipse, which can only be viewed from a certain relatively small area of the world, a lunar eclipse may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of the Earth. Shorter wavelengths are more likely to be scattered by the air molecules and the small particles, and so by the time the light has passed through the atmosphere, the longer wavelengths dominate. This resulting light we perceive as red. This is the same effect that causes sunsets and sunrises to turn the sky a reddish color; an alternative way of considering the problem is to realize that, as viewed from the Moon, the Sun would appear to be setting (or rising) behind the Earth. The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of dust or clouds in the atmosphere; this also controls how much light is scattered. In general, the dustier the atmosphere, the more that other wavelengths of light will be removed (compared to red light), leaving the resulting light a deeper red color. This causes the resulting coppery red hue of the Moon to vary from one eclipse to the next. Volcanoes are notable for expelling large quantities of dust into the atmosphere, and a large eruption shortly before an eclipse can have a large effect on the resulting color. Danjon scale The following scale (the Danjon scale) was devised by André Danjon for rating the overall darkness of lunar eclipses:[4] L=0: Very dark eclipse. The topic of our report is Office Memo: Contrast between Theoretical Concept and Actual Practice . In this report, we showed the differences as well as the similarities between theoretical concept and actual practice. At first, we gathered theoretical knowledge about the office memo such as its layout and functions from several books. Than, we entered into the practical field and collected two samples of office memo and information about its functions from two renowned organizations. This organizations are 1. Sonali Bank Limited 2. Social Islami Bank Limited After that, we analyzed both theoretical knowledge and practical information about memo and contrasted between the two. We mainly focused on the layout of memo, but also illustrated functions of memo. In case of Sonali Bank Limited, we found that more elaborate layout of memo are used in communication. This layout is different in many ways from the theory such as ornamental language is used. But the layout of the memo used by Social Islami Bank is close to the theory to an extent. But in this organization, memo is used for functions that are different from the theoretical ones. In our research, we found that every organization does not necessarily follow the theoretical concept in case of forming and using memo. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On The Chimney Sweeper Set in the times of the Industrial Revolution, Blake s The Chimney Sweeper is a powerful attempt to fight one of the biggest social injustices at the time: child labour. He illustrates the heartbreaking life story of thousands of kids through two different points of view, one is exposed in the poem pertaining to Songs of Innocence (1789) and the other one is exposed in Songs of Experience (1794). Both poems share the same outline; however, it is the narrator s view the one that changes drastically between the poems. As it would be expected, this breaks completely the musicality of the poem making the verses sound sharp and losing all possible flow. After escaping the coffins, which represent the chimneys they have to sweep daily, the young chimney sweepers arrive in paradise, where no worries or sad thoughts seem to exist. When Tom finally wakes up, he comforts himself with the idea that once they die, the reward for all his hard work will be heaven. In other words, the only hope they have left is the paradox of having a life after they pass out. Blake managed to first create a very soft atmosphere in the first stanzas and then progressively darken the environment until reaching its climax at the end. (Insert quote) In contrast, in the second poem, the chimney sweeper has lost all of the faith he had left. He explains how his parents abandoned him to live this life on his own. He even suggests that they lie to themselves trying to find comfort in idealistic situations that are very far from his daily life reality. It is especially dangerous in less populated areas where purified water may not be readily available. In these areas, it may fall on the responsibility of the individual to find their own water. People can collect water from streams, rivers, or lakes. The water from these sources, however, is considered unprotected and cannot be consumed right away. Something should be done about water contamination if any coliform is found in the water (Vermont Dpt. of Health 2014). This was widely accepted and used in the United States of America for settling industrial disputes. International Labour Organisation (ILO) through various conventions, recommendation and other instruments recognizes the right of collective bargaining as a fundamental right throughout the private and public sectors . Further one principle adopted by ILO is that collective bargaining is a right of employer and their organisations, on one hand and organisations of workers, on other hand (first level trade unions, federations and confederations); only in the absence of these latter organisations, may representatives of the workers concerned conclude collective agreements. The meaning of the expression collective bargaining has been a subject matter of controversy and it is defined in variety of ways. In A Christmas Story (Clark 1983) there was a scene were Asians at a restaurant were singing in broken English serving duck instead of chicken or turkey. In the film the Asians did not know how to sing neither speak good English. The setting was placed in a restaurant called Chop Suey Palace Co. The Asian singers would sing and serve food. They didn t have to sing, but they did. While they were doing so, they were being laughed at by the American families. Hollywood says that we are very generous and jolly people. That we like to eat duck and can t speak good English. The shot of the scene was a wide angle so you can see the whole restaurant and the family s reaction of the Asians singing. The music they were singing were Christmas lyrics. While they were trying to sing, they had one Asian who tried to teach them. After the second try they still couldn t grasp the ... Johnson was against slavery, but mostly because he was opposed to the Southern planter class. His plans were very lenient and allowed the formation of the Black Codes in the South, which were a set of laws that limited freedoms of the former slaves that lived there. Initially Johnson s plans were supported, but the Radical Republicans wanted the rights promised in the Declaration of Independence to be extended to all free men, including former slaves. President Johnson was impeached on February 24, 1868. It was only by one vote that he was not removed from office, but his impeachment greatly reduced his influence over Reconstruction. The Osi And Open Systems Interconnection The OSI, Open Systems Interconnection, model was first introduced in 1984 and was design to be a model and teaching tool to help better understand the rules of networking that systems must undergo to communicate. The OSI model consist of seven hierarchical layers that defines the path that data must travel. These layers are: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application. The first and lowest level of the model is the Physical layer. The physical layer consists of the basic networking hardware transmission technologies of a network (Osi model.com). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third layer of the OSI model is the network layer and is where the routers and layer 3 switches would be. This layer is responsible for controlling subnets and deciding which path the data should take based on certain conditions. This layer is also responsible for IP (internet protocol) addresses, this includes both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Packets in this layer identify where the traffic originated (source IP address) and where it is going (destination IP address) (Gibson 166). In short, the OSI layer three network layer is responsible for connections, host addressing, and message forwarding. Protocols that operate on this layer are IPsec and ICMP. Layer four of the OSI model consist of the transport layer. In this layer, the protocols in this layer provide a host to host communication servers for applications (osi model.com). Within the layer four transport layer, we have TCP (transmission control protocol) and UDP (user datagram protocol) protocols. TCP is a more reliable protocol in ways of guaranteeing the delivery of the IP traffic. With TCP, you have a three way handshake in place, meaning that when you send a segment you should receive an acknowledgement that the segment was received. If it was not received, then you could resend. When using UDP, guarantee delivery of packets is not the main concern. The main advantage of UDP is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Crime And Deviance In The Dark Knight By Christopher Nolan Throughout The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan crime and deviance is seen throughout the film. Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as society accepts crime for those whose are helping them and at the same time punishes those who are punished. Society in Gotham accepts crime when the Batman commits it to help for the betterment of society; however, crime is not accepted when it is committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly through the joker. The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the Labeling Approach, Human Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The Labelling Approach is a theory in which an individual s identity is determined or influenced by the terms that is used to describe or classify them, through the use of serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark Knight when the Joker recruits those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been outcast by society. This makes them believe that have a sense of being within society as they start to create their own society, and those who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts into place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those who have a negative label, do to the Joker having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of society. Not being accepted by anyone, even his own, which forces him to act on such a label through committing crimes that are not even the norms of the criminal society. This behavior is being seen as a rationale by both sides of society the general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his associates fit within the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to make sure that those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a mental illness, and who perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives the people of Gotham as a sense of power over those that have a label, and the sense that they have a position over society. Furthermore, the Human Rights Approach argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no matter of what context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or not. Ethnicity and Exclusion through Space Chapter two Methodology The first point of call was to have a clear and sharp understanding of the dissertation topic and this was done through the use of online research as there is a vast amount of information that can be collected in relation to integrating communities. This was then followed by the key significance to the main objective which is gathering data. To help with the findings and analysis, the research has to be focused more on areas where communities benefit through people of different backgrounds living together and sharing basic commodities, these could be sharing a kitchen, communal gardens, open spaces and even a bench in the public park.2 As there are quite a number of diverse people in the community, a lot of information was collected from them through one on one discussion. Although the information collected was not very satisfactory, care had to be taken as to select what to use. This was also the issue with selecting case studies which deals specifically with sociable housing which in these communities is widely known as co housing. The evidence collected from sources had to be carefully selected and used accordingly. A model was then developed to assess how people of different background can be incorporated through various substances. This was then implemented within separate case studies and the results explored and analysed. The model was then tried on another project to see if it works. Personal consumption expenditures are broken down into durable goods, nondurable goods, and services. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that personal consumer expenditures have been increasing every quarter from August of 2003 to August of 2004 with a gradual deceleration. • 36. The Effect Of Myotonic Dystrophy Kinase Related Cdc42... Introduction/Background: Cell motility is heavily studied, mainly due to the importance of cell motility in a living cell for normal physiological functions. 3 Phosphoinositide dependent kinase 1 (PDK1) is integral kinase that phosphorylates serine/threonine residues in activation loops of various proteins that function in metabolism, grown, proliferation, and survival of various cells (Fyffe et al., 2013). Located on the human chromosome 16p13.3, it is ubiquitously expressed in human tissue, as well as other animals such as Drosophilla (Alessi et al., 1997). But PDK1 functionality is beyond just normal human cells, and has been heavily studied in directional cell migration for both physiological and pathological processes such as wound healing and tumor metastasis (Gagliardi et al., 2014). Myotonic dystrophy kinase related CDC42 binding kinase α (MRCKα) is a Rho binding kinase that has been shown to cause actin cytoskeleton reorganization for cell motility through light chain phosphorylation, which is required in cell motility (Chen et al., 1999). MRCK kinases play integral roles in actin myosin regulations by being downstream effectors of GTPase CDC42. Activation of GTPase CDC42 and actin cytoskeleton reorganizations are both vital in cell motility, as the conversion of GTP to GDP provide actin filament degradation, which in turn allows for the formation of new filaments needed for movement of the cell. We even apply these color coded gender labels while a baby is still in the womb. Gender socialization occurs through four categories: family, education, peer groups, and mass media. Each category reinforces gender roles by creating and maintaining the norm expectations for gender specific behavior. At an early age, children have an understanding that there are distinct expectations for them based off of their gender. Studies show that children are very much conscious of what gender roles are and how their role is supposedly portrayed by the age two or three; at four or five, most children are appropriately displaying their specific gender role (Kane, 1996). Most boys are given toy car, guns and action figures, all toys that promote aggression and introverted playtime. Girls are often given dolls and dress up apparel that foster nurturing, social closeness, and role play. These gender roles will continue on throughout their life. Ten million dollars back in 1853 is equivalent to two hundred and eighty million dollars today. The Southern transcontinental railroad that James Gadsden had dreamed up was never built. The treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which ended the Mexican American war in 1848 was a very important decision in our history. We allowed the Mexican government to keep Mesilla Valley in place of them giving us the Santa Rita Mountains. We believed that we would profit off of this compromise due to the fact that we thought there was rich copper deposits, and some silver and gold which had not yet been mined. Little did we know that the Mesilla Valley was essential for the construction of a Southern Transcontinental Railroad. The reason it was important for the railroad was because it consisted of flat desert land about fifty miles north to south and 200 miles wide, east to west. There were two parcels of the land that President Pierce instructed Gadsden to try and buy. The Baja California Peninsula was the first for fifty million dollars or the thirty eight thousand square miles of dry arid desert. If my uncle was seen tuning the corner we hid in the shadow until we had seen him safely housed. Or if Mangan s sister came out on the doorstep to call her brother in to his tea we watched her from our shadow... (para. 3). The boy also hid his inner self from the truth, like the house, because of his own lust for Mangan s sister. He, being a boy, did not understand what love was, yet pursued it trying to gain inner happiness. Each morning he would lie on the floor in the front parlour watching her door. The blind was pulled down to within an inch of the sash so that I could not be seen. When she came out on the doorstep my heart leaped (para. 4). He lusts after her thinking that is was pure love. Later in a conversation between the two they talked about going to the Araby and the boy told her that if he went he would bring her something. Thinking that he could buy the love of the young flower, he did not understand that the pure love, to which he clamed to have, could not be bought. The book lies in the revelation of those moral, personal, and political instincts that helped make up his character along with his support of being a literary genius. Oliver Twist is by far the most depressing of all the books Dickens has wrote. Although the novels ugliness gives the novel a taste of honesty to give it a spontaneous and splendid output. Dickens had readers laughing with his first great story Pickwick and then having Oliver Twist as his encore of his novels. Although Dickens did have this other kind of energy which was horrible, uncanny, and barbaric. Dickens liked this energy and using it in his work most the time. Dickens is close to all the permanent human things and religion. He is allied to the people of the real poor, who love nothing so much as to talk about funerals and drinking a cheerful glass. His gloom and gaiety are the mark of religion and democracy and a mark him off from the moderate happiness of philosophers. Which created stoicism which is the virtue and the creed of aristocrats. In March 1832, Dickens became a journalist and after serving on two newspapers and he gained experience as a parliamentary reporter. Seventy one years earlier, on July 29, 1890, Vincent van Gogh shot himself in the abdomen while painting a wheat field. Robin Williams hung himself on August 24, 2014, less than two centuries after Vincent van Gogh. Along with Ludwig von Beethoven, who died of natural causes in 1827, four of the greatest creative minds each suffered from bipolar disorder, depression, or epilepsy, usually suffering from other physical ailments as well. Ernest Hemingway was the only one to seem to have a genetic disposition towards mental illness. None of these men led similar lives. Van Gogh only saw one of his paintings sold, while Beethoven was an acclaimed composer by the age of twenty nine. Hemingway was friends with some of the greatest literary minds of the day, and Robin Williams was one of the most successful comedians to date. The common link, besides their mental illnesses, is the idea that each of these men were searching for something more within their respective arts. Four fields of fine arts that require the constant creation of something new claimed the lives of four men who gave it all they had, some losing, and some finding themselves along the way. Over the past sixty years, facts about depression and the reality of it have come to light; however, there are still negative stigmas concerning the mental illness and how people ought to endure through the pain. • 47. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pcr Polymerase Chain Reaction The enzymatic or the molecular xeroxing process in which a particular region of DNA is replicated several times to yield thousands of copies of a specific sequence is termed as Polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The process of PCR employs a sophisticated and precise pattern of heating and cooling of samples in a thermal cycler, over 30 cycles. Each cycle generates a copy of the target DNA sequence for each molecule incorporating the target sequence. Oligonucleotide primers define the boundaries of the amplified product which are complementary to the 3 ends of the target sequence. Since its invention in 1983 by Kary Mullis; PCR has radically changed our approach to molecular biology. It brought forward a new perspective in the field of medical sciences and genetics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a simple technique to understand and use, and it produces results rapidly (Vogel et al., 2012). It is highly sensitive, with the potential to produce millions to billions of copies of a specific product for sequencing, cloning, and analysis. This is true of qPCR as well, but qPCR has the advantage of quantification of the synthesized product. Thus, it can be used to analyze alterations of gene expression levels in tumors, microbes, or other disease states. However, PCR also has limitations. Because it is highly sensitive, any form of contamination of the sample by even trace amounts of DNA can produce misleading results (Vogel et al., 2012; Smith and Osborn, 2009). In addition, to design primers for PCR, some prior sequence data are needed. Therefore, PCR can be used only to identify the presence or absence of a known pathogen or gene. Another limitation is that the primers used for PCR can anneal nonspecifically to sequences that are similar, but not completely identical, to target DNA. Moreover, incorrect nucleotides can be incorporated into the PCR sequence by the DNA polymerase, albeit at a very low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many high school students ask themselves this question as they are drawing near to the date of their exam. The fact that this question is asked constantly is exactly the reason that Mr. McGee has assigned this essay to the AP Literature class. The AP Lit test consists of two parts, and the first is the multiple choice section. The second part, has three free response essay questions that must be answered in two hours.Of course, if a student wishes to do well on a test they should have an understanding of how it is scored, and this AP test is no different. Using the text Five Steps to a Five, and Crash Course, a student can develop an idea of what the AP Literature Exam will look like. The first part of the AP Lit Exam is a section comprised of fifty five multiple choice questions that thoroughly test a student s knowledge about prose and poetry. Within these questions You can expect to see 4 5 excerpts of prose and poetry, (Howell). These excerpts are without titles, authors or a date, the student is completely reliant upon their knowledge to answer. Although the date of the texts are not given, one can expect it to be between the 16th century and the 21st century, not that that helps at all.
