Crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay Topics Argumentative" can be a challenging task. The
difficulty lies in the vastness and diversity of argumentative essay topics, requiring the writer to
navigate through a myriad of ideas and perspectives. The process involves thorough research to
gather relevant information, critical thinking to form strong arguments, and effective
communication skills to convey those arguments persuasively.
One of the challenges is selecting a specific argumentative essay topic from the broad category.
The writer must choose a theme that not only interests them but also has enough depth to
explore and analyze. This selection process can be time-consuming and may require careful
consideration of current issues, societal debates, or personal interests.

Gay Is the New Black in America
As I was browsing the internet I discovered this article (McWhorter, 2013) comparing
the gay community with the African American community. At first glance, I felt how
can the two be compared? So, I decided to give this article a read. The purpose of the
article was to bring attention to the civil rights movement of today dealing with the
homosexual community s civil rights and how it compares to the historic civil rights
movements made by the African Americancommunity from 1955 1968. In my mind
as an African American, my pride was not allowing me to see the comparison for
what it really was. African Americans have endured a longer, more violent time
frame of inequality than those of the gay community. This is how I see and feel it
to be. I had to do some more research to see exactly how this era s civil rights
movement became an understudy for comparison to the civil rights movements by
black Americans during the time span of 1955 1968. Us as African Americans need
to support the gay civil rights movements of today because we should understand
and realize the struggles we went through and help this nation become more equal.
Gay is the new black in America, not all aspects of the two relate such as the level of
violence endured by the African Americans as they fought to obtain equal rights but
the fight to be seen equal is the same.
The growth that the African American community has accomplished is a historic one
that the gay community wishes to achieve as well. Although
Coach Carter Is The Best Version Of You
When a person is an athlete they have many highs and lows. The movie Coach
Carter is a description of how to get through those highs and lows. Basketball is a
sport that requires ninety percent thinking and ten percent of ability. The fact that
an event that has happened in my life can be captured into a film and shown on a
screen is amazing to me. The movie Coach Carter is very familiar to me; it s a film
that taps into the emotion of the player, it also shows a player how to become
motivated, and it teaches the lesson of how to become the best version of you. The
movie Coach Carter is one of the best performances of how to get a basketballteam to
abide by rules and create discipline. The movie is centered on a new coach who once
was a player for the team back when he was in high school. The coach name is
Coach Carter, and this is where the brilliant title for this movie came from. The
team has been on a losing streak for the past couple of years and Mr. Carter has
come to change this. The process of making this team successful is a hard task.
During the process of creating the final teams there are players who come and go.
The question that flourishes around this movie asked by the coach with no answer
by the players is What is your deepest fear? Coach Carter made the team into
winners, and then of course the player s grades drop in their classes. The one thing
that Mr. Carter focused on was education because he felt as if without it, the boys on
his basketball
The Incarceration Of The United States
Issues Felons Face when Reintegrated with Society
Incarceration has been the primary means of punishment for criminals who have been
convicted of felony offenses. While prisoners are serving the term of incarceration
they face many difficult situations. Some of these situations can include committing
new crimes within the system which could lead to prolonging the current sentencing.
Those who are able to make parole after meeting the requirements set in place by the
court are faced with new difficulties when trying to reintegrate in society. While
inmates complete sentences ordered by the court, they have the opportunity to take
advantage of Federal Aid including continued education, job skill training,
employment opportunities and support programs. These programs are designed to
lessen the struggle offenders face as they reintegrate into society by offering a
positive direction upon their release. The overall goal is to achieve a reduction in the
rate of recidivism.
While in prison, criminals are given the opportunity to continue education as many
inmates do not have basic, grade school, education. Lack of education prevents most
released offenders from gaining regular employment and earning high enough wage
to prevent them from relapsing back into crime. Inmates in Florida prisons tested at
a median grade level of 6.9, with 64 percent scoring less than ninth grade literacy
skills, according to the Florida Department of Corrections 2006 07 Population Report
Essay about The Taxi Industry in New South Wales
The Taxi Industry in New South Wales has been one that has involved very little
competition within its market, allowing prices for its services to be quite high. Now,
however with the advancing technology, the rise of App based taxi or Ride Sharing
services such as Uber threaten to provide substitutes to customers increasing
competition in the Taxi Industry. The NSW Taxi Industry is somewhat run by the
NSW Government (Abelson). There are three major companies, that as (Abelson)
states, Control 90% of the Taxi operators in Sydney . As a result an oligopoly market
structure is formed, as there is some competition between these major companies
within the Taxi Service industry. However due to allegiances (Abelson) that these
companies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result the major companies lose some of the market power that they held,
meaning that they will have greater price elasticity and can no longer charge prices
at the heights that they could if there wasn t any competition, as customers will be
offered a cheaper substitute. This then will lead to a change in the market
structure as pressure will be placed on the allegiances formed between the major
companies in order to compete with the new ride sharing services. These ride
sharing services also do not incorporate any fees for entry such as the license fees
associated with the traditional taxi service industry, which then, due to
competition, could result in a lowering of these fees, causing less profits for the
large companies in the taxi service industry. This will also lead to lower prices
charged once again. It could also cause ride sharing companies to become more
appealing for the Taxi Service drivers and they could poach them from these larger
companies. So as a result of this now competitive taxi market, there is a lower
profit for the taxi service industry infuriating them (Ben Grubb 2014) and leading
them to strongly oppose the addition of these app based ride sharing services.
There has been some evidence of the benefits of allowing these ride sharing services
to provide competition in the taxi service market. An example of this is in New York
where according to (Tim Worstall 2014), drivers for ride sharing services such as Uber
Persuasive Essay On Winning Games
The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it
brings up the question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting?
Participation awards are a topic highly debated among those of all ages, with none
agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are under the impression that they are
essential believe they boost a childs confidence and self esteem. This may be true in
some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in the
moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as
they grow older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is
belittled by participation trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but
don t teach them the important values learned by losing.
Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an
award and enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team.
She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant
trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no
effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a
part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually worked hard to make their
team successful because it rewards the kids who were barely even engaged in the
sport. We need look no further than the 2011 World Series for the value of earning
trophies
Burger King And Brome Modern Eatery
Millions of restaurants market their food in various ways to attract you, the
consumer. In Kiera Butler s essay, The Creepy Language Tricks Taco Bell Uses to
Fool People into Eating There, she explains how various language usage on a menu
can be used to provide a positive and appealing impression to the customers of that
restaurant. Marketers create menus with the goal to appeal to the buyers thus,
creating revenue for the restaurant. A restaurant s menumay vary from a high quality
cuisine to a cheaper lower quality food. Two popular restaurant s menus: Burger King
and Brome Modern Eatery, use numerous ways to portray their menus in an appealing
and positive manor. Though both restaurants have a similar cuisine, Burger King, is...

Another way Burger King tries to make their menu stand out and appeal the
consumers is by, using a variety of fonts. Burger King assumes that their customers
struggle to stay focused while reading a boring menu so, to keep their customers
interested and focused, Burger King uses a plethora of bold attention grabbing
fonts. Burger King wants to be flashy and use fonts to create this bold image.
Finally, vibrant color on a menu is used to make it appear energetic, or even
exciting to the customers. If the menu was boring or dull in color, it would create
the same negative impression about the food. The entire Burger King menu is
packed with various colors for each section of the menu, this creates an appealing
image for the menu. So, what impressions do these tactics provide on the actual
quality of the food served at Burger King? Unfortunately, there does come a point
when too much on a menu becomes a bad thing. Over using pictures, fonts, and
colors on the menu tends to make the quality of the food seem cheap and unfulfilling.
Burger King uses pictures, fonts and colors to provide an appealing and positive
impression about the food they serve however, these tactics may also distract the
customers from the quality of the food.
In contrast, Brome Modern Eatery s menu includes limited amounts of pictures,
fewer fonts, and less colors compared to Burger King. Brome s very simple and
straight forward menu consists of eleven different burgers that are
How Does Steinbeck Present Lennie s Friendship
Of Mice and Men Essay Has anyone ever had such a strong friendship with
someone that they consider them family? The book Of Mice and Men by John
Steinbeck illustrates an amazing friendship. The book is mostly about two men
named Lennie and George. This story gets very sad and ends up leaving everyone
depressed at the end. One of the themes he uses is companionship. Lennie is one of
the main characters in the book. Lennie and George have this amazingly strong
friendship. He uses Lennie and George s friendship as a symbol for
companionship. I was only foolin , George. I don t want no ketchup. If it was here
you could have some but I wouldn t eat none George. I d leave it all for you
(Steinbeck 8). Lennie is saying that if there was something he could give to
George then he would. Lennie who had been watching, imitated George exactly.
He pushed himself back, drew up his knees, embraced them, looked over to George
to see whether he had it just right (Steinbeck 10). In this quote he is trying to copy
George because Lennie looks up to him. Also, Lennie is a different kind of guy. He
s practically a kid trapped in an adult s body and doesn t know his own strength.
George deals with Lennie with patience and kindness despite his own frustration with

George is also a main character in the book. George is one of those men that tries
to protect everyone. Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in
the world (Steinbeck 15). George is saying he is glad he has Lennie because it gets
lonely. I want you to stay with me, Lennie. Jesus Christ somebody d shoot you for
a coyote if you was by yourself. (Steinbeck 13). George is emphasizing to not leave
him because he enjoys having Lennie around. He also is one of those men that
people come to with all their problems. George is very protective of Lennie and tells
him many times what to do and not
The, 12 Angry Men, And Nasa s Challenger Disaster
Speak your mind even if your voice shakes , a quote made famous by Maggie
Kuhn, is the foundation of how I conduct my life. While the fundamentals of being
an open minded, educated, and well rounded individual involve considering the
opinions of others and evaluating both sides of the argument, too often people
become complacent and lose the ability to think for themselves. The common term
that refers to this type of herd mentality is sheeple . The play, 12 Angry Men, and
NASA s Challenger disaster are two prime examples of the downfalls of groupthink.
Below, I will discuss both the helpful and harmful aspects of groupthink surrounding
both 12 Angry Men, and the Challenger disaster, as well as the effects of groupthink
on today s voting young adults.
In the play, 12 Angry Men, the vote was 11 1 in favor of a guilty verdictin the case
being tried. The one juror stood his ground, explained his theory as to why a guilty
verdict could not be delivered, and was unwavering in his stance. The jurors went
around the table twice, and ended with everyone siding with the original juror. As
the deliberations played out and jurors were questioned, some jurors were not able to
justify their guilty verdict, merely stating It just is . This statement shows the effect
of the groupthink mentality, especially since one juror was considerably vocal and
angered by the time being spent on deliberations. The logical discussions the other
jurors had with one another displayed a positive aspect
Advancing the Individual s Knowledge of the Holocaust
Essay
By comparing, analyzing and questioning the validity of Maus I and II, Night, Night
and Fog, nonfictional historical accounts and a poem, called Already Embraced by
the Arm of Heavenly Solace, found in Europe in the Contemporary World, Schindler
s List and the Return to Auschwitz we may determine to what degree these sources
serve to advance humanity s understanding of the holocaust. The holocaust can be
explained as the historical event in which the Nazi s, who came to power in
Germany in January 1933, and its collaborators murdered and persecuted
approximately six million Jews. This came about because of the German belief that
they were racially superior and the Jews were an alien threat to the German state. For

The conclusions of the various sources, brought on by the analysis of the issues
above and by comparing these sources to each other, determined that overall these
sources have a high degree in serving to further man s understanding of the holocaust.
By categorizing the two movies, Night and Fog and Schindler s List, together we
are able to better analyze and contrast the two similar yet different sources. First off,
both these sources can be deemed accountable because they use more than one
source. The documentary, Night and Fog, uses two different survivors of the
holocaust as well as various other sources. Schindler s List also relied on more than
one person s account of the situation to write the movie s script. This is unlike the
sources such as Return to Auschwitz, written by the first hand account of Kitty Hart ,
and Night, written by Elie Wiesel who also had first hand experiences , that depend
on one person s account or report of the situation to tell the story. However, the
written work isn t used for entertainment purposes, like Schindler s List is, and
therefore is less likely to be changed to draw attention or gain financially. Schindler s
List is a famous movie used to
Analysis Of Svava Jakobsdottir s A Story For Children
Through the eyes of society everyone has a set role they are expected to fulfill and
certain characteristics they are supposed to exemplify. These roles and characteristics,
this discourse, tells everyone how they should act and speak. For women it is the role
of the mother. In our culture, that means raising the children, completing the
household chores, and cooking all of the meals to perfection. Women are typical
thought of as being demure and polite, small in stature, and submissive to the male
gender. In the reverse, men also have certain roles that they are expected to fill and
characteristics they are supposed to exemplify. Men are expected to be strong,
dominant, and in charge of their families. They are often depicted, both in the
media and in life, as the leaders. This discourse that we all follow can frequently be
seen in Svava Jakobsdottir s A Story for Children. The short story tells the tale of a
woman as she raises her children and takes care of her household. The mother is
completely devoted to her children and seeks to fulfill her role in the hometo the
fullest extent. As the story progresses, the main character slowly has pieces of
herself removed by her children: her toe, her brain, and finally her heart. At the end of
the text, after all of the children have become adults started families of their own, the
mother realizes that she now has nothing and feels useless. In her short story,
Jakobsdottir uses dramatization to depict the gender stereotypes and

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Essay
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation also known as CPR is an important part of helping
someone survive during an emergency. Learning CPR can cause many positive
outcomes for a victim in a critical moment. This paper will discuss not only those
effects but also the basics of CPR, different types and process that is thought to save
a person s life.
CPR is used in an emergency where the heart has stopped working properly. It can be
due to blocked blood passageways, heart attack, or cardiac arrest. Once an emergency
begins everyone in the immediate area is considered a bystander. As a bystander,
rapid response is needed to save a life. It is normal for people to hesitate or doubt
they can help but even the smallest thing can make a big difference. If nothing else
a bystander can call for help. This may not seem like a big help, but the 911
operators are trained in CPR and many other steps to saving lives during
emergencies. If the bystander is familiar with the area they may be asked to find an

emergency. The American Heart Associationstates, CPR, especially if performed in
the first few minutes of cardiac arrest, can double or triple a person s chance of
survival. (American Heart Association, Inc) Some people may doubt they will be
in an emergency where the need to know CPR but studies show that is misguided.
Cardiac arrest occurs about 1.5 million times a year and in at home with the victim

the U.S. every year with only 32% of bystanders during emergency s being CPR
trained. (Cline) Within 4 to 6 minutes of cardiac arrest the victim will die without
help. (AmericanCPR) If more people were trained the number of save lives could
increase and hopefully reach a point where everyone is saved. The research suggests
that CPR training has completely positive effects on the community and people in

Why Do Modern Science-Educated People Still Treat Race
Considering all the physical and genetic facts that tell us that there are no
biologically based races in the human species, why do modern, science educated
people still treat race as if it comes from nature, as if it tells us something important
about an individual? Scientist still treat is as if it comes from nature because the
skin color of a person can offer insights into a person s geographic ancestry.
Whenever we see someone of color we automatically assume that they are of a
certain race, place, etc... Race is misunderstood and we as a society do not fully
comprehend that there is much more to race than the color of the skin.
Select one of the examples of life experiences that illustrates racism (racial profiling,
racial stereotype, racial discrimination) and that you think is perpetuated by some

with both children and adults. There are many people that automatically turn to look

things that never changed in our culture to me are the influence of people that talk

Self Service Dog Wash Research Paper
Your will need to be washed several times a year. Although you could take your dog
to the groomers, another available option is self service dog wash. When
considering this option, it may sound like a hassle, but a lot of people prefer this
option for various reasons.
Here are five great things about self service dog wash in Henderson, NV.
Affordable: When you have the money, it is almost too easy to drop your dog off
and let someone else take on the task of grooming them. Unfortunately, not everyone
has the money to send their dog to the groomers every two weeks or however often
they want to get their dog washed. Because self service dog wash is affordable,

When you lead a busy life, you might not be able to make an appointment to get
your dog groomed because your schedule won t allow it. At a self service dog wash,
you can take your dog in whenever you find the time. No appointment is necessary,
so if you do happen to find a spare hour or two in your day, you can simply stop by
and wash your dog.
Comfortable: A visit to the groomers can be an uncomfortable experience for your
canine. When animals are uncomfortable, it can make things difficult for the
groomer. This person may have a hard time calming your dog down and gaining their
trust, which could ultimately make the entire grooming process take longer than
necessary and maybe even cause your pet to not get as clean. Washing your dog
yourself will ensure they are comfortable rather instead of stress, scared and
uncomfortable.
Space: You don t have too many options when it comes to where you can groom
your dog. Depending on the size of your dog, you will need a lot of space, but you
just might not have it. Most people wash their dog in the bathtub, and when you
think about it, this isn t always enough space. Self service dog wash will provide
you with enough space to watch you pet, so you don t have to worry about
cramming in a small room to get your dog

Why You? In the Muslim community, both regionally and nationally, chaplaincy is a
new phenomenon. To some it may refer simply to the Imam and to others it may
refer to a special type of therapist. The creation of Muslim community chaplaincy
roles in hospitals, prisons, universities and elsewhere is a particularly significant
development that has occurred in recent years. Whilst community chaplaincy has
been in existence within other faith communities for a long time, recent
developments mean that it has started to develop momentum within Muslim
communities. By applying for this course I aim to equip myself with sound
knowledge to utilise in terms of practice and awareness around the importance of
chaplaincy among the Muslim community and beyond. I am also passionate about
encouraging and recruiting other male and female chaplains from the Muslim
community. This is something I have worked on for several years with various
universities and hospitals. There is a deficit in the number of Muslim female
chaplains in particular. In my experience, there are often times when a female will
want to talk to another female regarding sensitive and personal matters. I have dealt
with issues around Muslim women being unwilling to engage in chaplaincy due to
(in their view) the Holy Qur an restricting men and women from being together in a
room in private (whilst not being married to each other). However, a more liberal
view is that a male being in a
Basil Vs Blackwood
In The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan doyle, Holmes says, It
is a wicked world, and when a clever man turns his brain to crime it is the worst of
all. This quote is a very accurate representation of exactly who Holmes is. He is a
regular detective that has transformed the way crimes are solved through his
intelligence and thinking. For this time period, this was unheard of which made it
difficult for criminals. The film the Great Mouse Detective is a tuned down version
of the film, Sherlock Holmeswhich was meant to introduce a younger audience to
mystery and detective work so they can learn the difference between right and wrong.
In the films The Great Mouse Detective and Sherlock Holmes, there is a case being
worked on which the character Sherlock Holmes or Sir Basil is trying to solve. In
both films, professor Moriarty or Rattigan is the criminal mastermind which is
Sherlock Holmes main enemy. He is depicted quite a bit differently but he plays a
key role in both films. Professor Moriarty and Rattigan both plot out what happens in
the films and are the underlying factor to what happens. While both characters play a

For example Lord Blackwood makes human sacrifices while Fidget kidnaps Olivia

roles, the films are very different in how complex they are and what extremes they go
Happy Numbers are Part of Recreational Math Essay
Happy numbers are a part of recreational maths. I will also talk about happy cube
numbers, they are the same as happy numbers, but instead of squaring the digits of
the original number, the digits are cubed. Furthermore, I will also explore happy
prime numbers, these are prime numbers which are also happy. Additionally, I will
mention unhappy numbers, these are numbers that do not end in 1 instead they loop
in a cycle around number 4. Lastly, I will explore the history and real life uses of
happy numbers, such as in computer programming and encryptions.
History of happy numbers The origins of happy numbers is not clear, the first time
they were mentioned was during the 20th century. Likely guesses are that they
originated from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1+6=7, 7 is a happy number. All numbers that are 10ЛЈ are also happy numbers, this
is because their digits will always be one 1 and one or more 0 s. an example would
be 10ВІ=100 and 100 is a happy number. Furthermore if a happy number N has one
more zero added to the end of it, it will still be a happy number this is because zero
does not affect the sum of the squares. An example is 13 is a happy number and so
is 130. The first few happy numbers are 1, 7, 10, 13, 19, 23, 28, 31, 32, 44, 49, 68,
70, 79, 82, 86, 91, 94, 97, 100.....
Unhappy numbers Unhappy numbers are numbers that after having their digits
squared and added together repeatedly the number always leads to 4. This is how
you find out if a number is unhappy:
16:
4+0= 4 As you can see, 16 is an unhappy number. This sequence is a
continuous cycle because 4ВІ=16, and the whole thing will start all over again. 37,
58, 89, 145, 42, 20, and 4 are also all unhappy numbers because they are all part of
the sequence. This means all these numbers also loop around the number 4 in a cycle.
Happy Cube Numbers Happy cube numbers are numbers that when their digits are
cubed and added together repeatedly they will equal to 1. They are the same as
happy numbers except that their digits are cubed instead of squared.
Greek Culture Influence
Greek Culture and Influence
The Ancient Greek Empire was an empire of great power and success. From the
beginning of democracy to the amazing architecture of the Parthenon, the Greeks had
many achievements that marked their place in history, as their technologies were
very advanced for their time. Even today, Ancient Greek culture and technological
advancements continue to influence our lives in aspects of government, philosophy,
architecture, geometry, mythology, and sports.
Although democracy can be traced back to Ancient China and Mesopotamia, the
modern form that we follow today originated in Athens, Greece ( Democracy ).
Democracy comes from the Greek word demokratia , which means people power. At
the time, when Athens was ruled under a tyrannical dictatorship, a learned man
named Cleisthenes spread the idea of people sharing power with the rulers, across
Athens. The idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also introduced a way of giving a voice to people of all statuses. For instance,
the Greeks developed a voting system in which black and white pebbles were
collected in a container. Black would mean no and white would mean yes . The
pebbles would then be counted and the majority vote would determine the action
taken. The advantages of democracy are that the people have the power to elect their
rulers and representatives, who can then make wise decisions on their behalf. This
promotes political stability and the evolution of societies. Today, more than 120
countries around the world have adopted democracy as their form of government.
Philosophy is a subject of great wisdom and the most prominent Greek philosophers

Palm Beach Story Sociology
One of the more interesting pieces of screwball comedy is a film directed by
Preston Sturges, The Palm Beach Story. Released seventy five years ago in 1942,
this film focuses on a married couple, Tom and Gerry, that is in a worn relationship
due to their financial problems. Gerry leaves Tom in order to marry a wealthy man
that could fund Tom s airport project. Through her trip, she meets a group of
millionaire members of a hunting club where things take a turn for the worse. With
the Great Depressionstill affecting millions of people, it s easy to see how
disgraceful these wealthy group of individuals act on the train. As well as, the
millionaire John D. Hackensacker III, that Gerry bumps into shows us that the film
does not take kindly to how these wealthy men spend their fortunes, as he purchases
thousands of dollars worth of clothes and jewelry. However, I want to focus mainly
on the sequence of the train ride and the Ale and Quail hunting group. With that said,

This film may not show that all wealthy people are unpleasant, but the Ale and
Quail club members are mostly depicted in such a way to make the audiences
dislike them. Their singing, shooting, and barraging amount of disturbance caused
to other passengers onboard simply makes them look like an arrogant type of
people. Also, with the film releasing so close after the Great Depression, it makes
it even more relatable to the audiences as they can see how these wealthy people
essentially throw away money by buying things or wasting them on other materials
that the average American may have a hard time saving up to do so. With that in
mind, people were poor, and films like these can have the audiences relate
themselves to Gerry as well as Tom by experiencing the world of the rich in their

her summer here by herself is definitely more appealing than staying with her

Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado states that there are 150 lakes and 450
miles of streams. This kind of wetland ecosystem is prominent for featuring dense
wildlife environments in which elk, moose, big horn sheep, black bears, and
cougars thrive. Furthermore, the Continental Divide is located in the Rocky
Mountains. The Rocky Mountains are widely considered one of the most
biologically diverse regions in the world and the Rocky Mountain s flora and
fauna are no exception. Elk herds can range from 300 to 800 each winter,
approximately 350 bighorn sheep, and various mule and deer populations, along
with small geese populations flying overhead. It is precisely this diversity that
makes the Rockies so appealing to tourists every year. In addition, there are 60
other species of mammals, 280 recorded bird species, six amphibian species (the
endangered boreal toad is included), one reptile (i.e. garter snake), 11 species of
fish, and countless species of insects, including a large number of butterflies. Elk
can be seen regularly by visitors during fall rut, or mating season. Elk are prominent
among the meadows and densely populated forests. During the summer, elk are
likely to stay above treeline and move to lower elevations during the seasons of fall,
winter, and spring. Also, elk generally feed around dusk and dawn. Bighorn sheep

Philippines. The company operates a network of 750 stores nationwide. As a
leader in the Philippines the company has been able to expand internationally and
currently is in pursuit of completing a plan that can make them a global brand. The
company is such a royal success in the Asian Pacific coast that its expansion is sure

started out as an Ice Cream Parlor back in 1975. The company thrives on a family

Jollibee s continued success. The Values of the company are; customer focus,

As Jenny walks into the clinic I will be observing several things. I will be looking
to see if Jenny is guarding any region of her body, I will be observing her gait
pattern, I will be looking for any braces or assisted devices and I will be looking to
see if Jenny is in any kind of pain through facial expressions. The reason why I will
be observing is because, if I can notice something about Jenny that seems a little
concerning, I then can ask questions about it during the interview to gain further
knowledge about the condition as to what s wrong. Once Jenny was checked in and
situated, I would begin the patient interview. During the interview, I would ask...

I would ask that because this can tell me if Jenny s problem is a chronic injury that
has happened due to microtrauma or an acute injury that was macro trauma. I would
ask Jenny about her previous medical history that included questions as to previous
surgeries or fractures, I would also ask if Jenny has been pregnant recently. The
reason I would want to know if Jenny has been pregnant is that pregnant women are
more prone to carpal tunnel syndrome due to the swelling of tissue and compression
of the median nerve in the carpal region, which are related to Jenny s symptoms
(Balik, 2014). Lastly, I would ask Jenny if she was or is a smoker, because it has been
shown that smoking is a risk factor for carpal tunnel syndrome (Goodman, 2014).
After interviewing Jenny I have now gained more knowledge about Jenny s
condition and have narrowed down the special test and measures that I want to do
later in the examination. The next step in the examination would be a systems
review. The purpose of the systems review is to gain more knowledge about the
patients health and that new knowledge can help guide the plan of care in Jenny s
treatment (Fruth, 2014). There are five components of the systems review that will
be done. The first review will be of Jenny s communication, affect, cognition, and
learning style. This would have been done during the interview portion of the
examination. The second review will be cardiopulmonary, this is where Jenny s blood

Transformation of Humphrey Van Weyden in Jack London s The Sea Wolf
Jack London s The Sea Wolf is in some ways a philosophical text and a product of
its time. The strain it puts on the reader between a social Darwinist and utilitarian
perspective against that of a more idealistic one is great. Many times the character of
Wolf Larsen is a more consistent articulator of the Darwinian position and seems to
always be getting the upper hand argumentatively. However, it is due to a
phenomenological outlook on the events presented within The Sea Wolfthat the
alternative becomes intelligible. After all, the endeavor to improve is one thing
which identifies us as human. The understanding of what constitutes this
improvement varies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, since both the protagonist and the antagonist of this story read in order to
educate themselves, they both demonstrate a desire toward self betterment.
Yet the two character s understanding of what this self betterment is supposed to be
is poles apart. Where Wolf s view is purely materialistic and Darwinian, Hump s
position is, at least initially, entirely idealistic and metaphysical. And in the outset,
each can only see the possibility of their own position, discounting the other s. Hump
confesses in his thoughts, how could I explain my idealism to this man? How could
I put into speech a something felt, a something like the strains of music heard in
sleep, a something that convinced yet transcended utterance? (35). Yet Wolf remains
unshaken from beginning to end. I believe that life is a mess ...It is like yeast, a
ferment, a thing that moves and may move for a minute, an hour, a year, or a hundred
years, but that in the end will cease to move. The big eat the little that they may
continue to move, the strong eat the weak that they may retain their strength. The
lucky eat the most and move the longest, that is all, (35). This contrast endures
throughout the entire novel, and even in the end Wolf utters his last word as BOSH!
So, once again, Wolf and Hump hold two entirely different and very singular

Planning
In the planning phase, a Project Charter is provided to all management, stakeholders
and those with significant authority over the company. The Project Charter
essentially defines the project. It contains the objectives of the project describing the
deliverables, while also containing a description of the criteria used to assess when
each section is completed, risk assessments and identifies stakeholders and
management (Documentation Consultants, n.d.). The Project Management Plan is
also produced during the planning phase. It contains the project s schedule and
milestones, required resources and cost estimations and budgets.
To start off the planning you must study the current system with the people involved
(such as clients, employees or management). These groups would have meetings to
discuss areas of the system that could be improved and suggest possible solutions. In
these meetings, agendas are given out so that everyone knows what the objectives
are. Notes are recorded to be reviewed during requirements analysis.
Also included in the analysis phase is a feasibility study. As the name would suggest
it simply assesses if the new system is feasible within the budget and manpower of
the company. (Overton, 2007)
It would determine if the project should even be started and if would it be possible to
make it within the budget

Greed In Abigail s
Introduction The cause of nearly all of humanity s conflicts and wrongdoings,
from wars over land, to massacres, to robberies can be traced back to one human
vice: greed. This inherent hunger for property, power, or wealth, can completely
take over a person s life and lead to conflict and misery. However, unlike physical
hunger, which can be easily satisfied, greed is often intensified, not mitigated by the
attainment of what one desires. This self perpetuating nature of greed indicates that
the vice is not actually caused by the need for something, as hunger is, but rather
the belief that one deserves some object or quality more than everyone else. Thus a
person s greed can only be satisfied once that person has all of what he or she... Show

This shows that compassion can not only overcome greed for a specific
commodity, but is capable of conquering one s overall selfishness. Early on in the
book, it is clear that Artemis s family is extremely important to him. He worries
about his sick mother and is constantly looking for news about his missing father.
This sympathy also extends to Butler and Juliet, who although not direct members
of the family, help to fill the role that Artemis s missing and insane parents cannot.
The book makes this clear in the statement, Artemis was the closest thing Butler
had to a friend, and Butler was the closest Artemis had to a father (Colfer 16). The
empathy Artemis feels for these four family members: his mother, his father,
Butler, and Juliet, begins to weaken his greed very early on in his plot. This occurs
as soon as he sees the fairy he is about to kidnap. He thinks, Artemis saw the pain in

similarity to his family. His compassion for his mother and Juliet serve as a gateway

Herman Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener
Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener
Born in New York City on August 1st, 1819, Herman Melville led a life that
commenced in partial fame and success, but ended in poverty and despair. Although
unjustly criticized for the purposeless extravagance and disorderliness of his writing,
due to his digressions into many different topics while discussing a single one,
especially in his most celebrated novel today, though most criticized and
unappreciated in his time, Moby Dick, Herman Melville is considered one of the most
important figures in American Literature today. Herman Melville is the most
Shakespearean of our authors, according to Herald Bloom, an American literary
critic. Other literary critics deem his works the most crucial achievements in
American literature, and literary creations of a high order blending fact, fiction,
adventure and subtle symbolism. Melville communicated his genius not only through
his impeccable use of language and engrossing creation of plot, but also and mainly
through his development of more than merely unique or odd characters characters he
called original. Noting Melville s view of himself as an author, more than that of
himself as a person, is significant to the understanding of his notion of the original
character, and to the understanding of his literary original characters. It is especially
essential to the understanding of one of his most intriguing fictional characters:
Bartleby. In his short story Bartleby, the

living in the states. The financial and psychological struggles were not worth it when
immigrants were risking to construct networks, maintain homeland ties and, ensure
that remittances reach families left behind (Barkan 19). Immigrants who stay in the
states try to balance assimilation to the dominant American culture while still want to
feel a sense of their homeland. They try to make a connection whether it be through
food, familiar neighbors or the knowledge of language and dance which gets lost in
the later generations. The primary contact with American culture happens through
interaction with their American peers (Tangsujjapoj 3). Social participation is what

The Role Of Music As A Reflection Of The Human
Condition
Shostakovich, Soviets, and Suppression
Scholars and artists commonly describe music as a reflection of the human condition.
The period in history from the mid 1930s onward marked a tragic phase in twentieth
century music and this reflection: the total politicizing of the art by totalitarianism
means. Dictators, including Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union, were manipulating
popular culture to take control of their people. Stalin supported the idea of a Soviet
modernism, a school of art that would embody the power of the new proletarian
state. He monitored every recording made in the country, writing judgments of
good, so so, and bad on their sleeves. Stalin believed music to be the engineer of the
human souls, and hoped to use this as a way to influence his people that Soviet life
was improving. Fearing a phone call from the dictator or being arrested in the night,
Soviet composers such as Dmitri Shostakovich wrote music with chained hands in
an effort to please their leader. A study of Shostakovich s Symphony No. 5 and
Symphony No. 7 will reveal the influence of communism in the Soviet Union on his
music as well as his dynamic relationship with Joseph Stalin. Dmitri Shostakovich
was born in 1906 and showed an aptitude for music at a young age. In 1919, he
enrolled in the Petrograd Conservatory where his abilities mesmerized the head of the
institution, Alexander Glazunov. Shostakovich was never politically naГЇve; he
imitated his parent s ideals who initially
Juice Detox Juice
There are times in life when we will feel health problems that we have no idea how
to properly treat them. For most of these minor occurrences we take a trip down to
the local drug store and buy whatever cream or pill they have, being marketed to
people with our problem. Sometimes you might feel some relief the next day and
think that the product has worked. When in fact actually the pills and creams are not
really solving anything. All that the medications do is kill the yeast cells, which
provide momentary relief from the discomfort of a yeast infection. It helps first to
understand the root of the problem. When your body is producing yeast it is safe to

The 7 day Detox diet is no different. This radically change in eating will flood your
body with more nutrients than it knows what to do with. This will cause your
body s immune system to skyrocket and will allow your body to heal some of the
wounds that it has accumulated through less than adequate eating. Today stress
causes a lot of the health problems that people deal with in their day to day life. For
instance, there are rashes that can be cause by stress alone. This shows that stress
has a real biological effect on people who are experiencing. Your body is also
known for accumulating toxins when it is stressed because it causes people with
normal appetite to binge eat in an effort to deal with the stress. To do the 7 day
Detox means that you are ridding your body of these life effecting toxins. It s a
chance to start over anew. It is not that difficult to accomplish either. The diet
requires you to eat primarily fruits and vegetables. Fresh organic produce is the
best but if you can only afford the canned variety then that will be just fine. There
is some big foods that are completely outlawed on the 7 day detox diet. These include
soda, chocolate, meat, coffee, and eggs. Also you should stop eating all processed
food; processed food will often come in box and have a list of big names under its
Introductory Lines In Beowulf
Though Beowulf holds many significant lines throughout its text, the first eleven
introductory lines serve as a strong setup for the epic s broad themes and cultural
values. While these lines may easily be brushed off as a simple hook for the poem s
beginning, the first lines hold much more significance than one might initially
assume. Within the poem, Beowulf, the poet manages to employ the first eleven
lines as a means of conveying the most essential theme of kingship. The poet
achieves this illustration by showing the importance of kingship, the qualities
which a leader requires, and the constant role which kingship plays throughout the
poem. Because of this important theme of kingship included within the
introduction, these eleven lines serve as some of the most important throughout
the poem. Primarily, within this section of the poem s introduction, the poet
manages to utilize Shield Sheafson s portrayal as a means of providing an image
of the importance of kingship. The poet states within these lines that, A foundling
to start with, he would flourish later on / as his powers waxed and his worth was
proved. / In the end each clan on the outlying coasts / beyond the whale road had to
yield to him / and begin to pay tribute. That was one good king, (41). With this
description, we can see that the poet places a heavy emphasis on kingship within
these lines. The poet states that Sheafson s growth in quality kingship caused all
tribes to yield to him and pay tribute, and this made him a good king. This presents
the fact that kingship is required within the culture of the poem, and that it enables
Sheafson to help his people. Additionally, as the text advances, we see the poet
make further claims of the required nature of kingship through Beowulf s character.
We can see this in places such as when the poet states, ...Onela returned / to the land
of Sweden, leaving Beowulf / to ascend the throne, to sit in majesty / and rule over
the Geats. He was a good king, (). Just as with the last quote, we can see the poet
places heavy emphasis on Beowulf s quality as a king. Kingship is displayed through
Beowulf s quality rule over the Geats, and this shows the importance of kingship
throughout the poem. These two
Determination Of Sowbugs In Multiple Environments
INTRODUCTION
We observed Sowbugs in multiple environments to determine which environment
they preferred. After the observation, we shared, and recorded our results. The
sowbugs spent 77% of their time on the cool, damp soil, as opposed to 23% of their
time on the hot, dry sand. We asked ourselves: why is it that sowbugs preferred the
cool, damp soil? It was hypothesized that the sowbugs preferred the cool, damp soil
to the hot, dry sand, because moisture was the causative agent. If the hypothesis is
correct, then the sowbugs will spend more time in damp soil.

Character comes from overcoming adversity in life; without hardship there can be
no growth. The way a conflict is handled defines who each person is and what
matters to her the most. My personal disaster came on August 29, 2005 in the form
of a hurricane deadly, surging, ravenous. Hurricane season kicked off the same for
me as it had every year, a lot of false alarms and small storms struck in my area just
outside of New Orleans. Occasionally there would be a storm threatening enough
for my family to evacuate north into the heart of Cajun country, where my sister
and I would spend a good portion of our three hour drive crudely laughing at jokes
of which buildings would still be standing on our way back. We were young and had

The Louisiana sun sizzled upon the black bed like the devil s smile. Two of the labs
had been used to the heat. Not Fudge. Halfway through our trip, nearing Opelousas
in the heavy traffic, Fudge was no longer visible in the truck. Fear began to set in.
We pulled over and saw her limp, unresponsive body sprawled out in agony,
collapsed from heat stroke. We sped off in the opposite direction to find her water
and a vet. Time seemed to speed by and drag on as the search for any open
veterinarian office nearby who could take Fudge for the day continued until our
prayers were answered twenty miles away in the town of Eunice. There was
nothing left for us to do but continue on to my great grandfather s packed house in
Mamou, Louisiana. No one slept that night. Between the news reports urging New
Orleans to evacuate and the thought of Fudge fighting through the night for every
breath she took in a sterile void, I was lost in my own black hole. The golden
morning broke along with the news we had been dreading. Although New Orleans
had been spared by Katrina, my hometown, Slidell, took the full wrath of the eye

The Crusades were an important part of World History during the post classical era.
Between 1096 and 1270, the Europeans attempted to acquire Christian sacred areas
from the Muslims ( The Crusades ). Supported by Western Europe, Christian armies
were sent to take over the Holy Land and other surrounding areas ( Crusades). The
Holy Land surrounds Jerusalem and, to this day, contains sacred sites to
Christians, Jews, and Muslims ( Crusades ). These sacred sites were very
important to people of these religions and many pilgrimages occurred there (
Crusades ). During the eleventh century, Muslims acquired the Holy Land and
expanded their empire ( Crusades ). This prompted Alexius Comnenus, the
Byztantine emperor, to write to Pope Urban II in need of trying to reacquire this
sacred land ( The Crusades ). This prompted the start of the Crusades. There were
four major Crusades and several others that occurred ( Crusades ). The first was
probably the most significant out of all of them. The First Crusadeallowed for the
capture of The Holy Land and also prompted an influence of Middle Eastern culture
and ideas to Western Europe. During the first century BCE, the Roman Empire seen
the diffusion of Christianity throughout its empire ( Crusaders Arrive at
Constantinople ). Once the empire expanded into Jerusalem and Palestine,
Christianity became the predominant religion in these areas ( Crusaders Arrive at
Constantinople ). During the seventh century CE, the rise of Islam occurred,

The rise of modern American liberalism throughout the history
Having been born in Europe in the epoch of Renaissance and Reformation, the
liberalism has become an inevitable part of the United States. When someone and
somewhere talks about the liberal movement, everybody will mention the American
liberalism, which has undergone several stages of its development and transformed
into modern liberalism. This liberalism allows the United States to be one of the most
powerful states in the world.
Since its origin, the United States did not know different political philosophy but

States was influenced by some factors the impact of the American Revolution ... Show

It claims on different freedoms of people despite their gender, race, and age. Also,
one of the principles of American liberalism is the separation of state and church.
The main aim of liberalism is to promote the general welfare of the American
citizens. However, sometimes the liberalism was too controversial. For example,
the involvement of the United States to the wars violated the rights of people.
Speaking about the WWI, George William Norris wrote that war brings no
prosperity to the great mass of common and patriotic citizens. It increases the cost
of living of those who toil and those who already must strain every effort to keep
soul and body together. War brings prosperity to the stock gambler on Wall Street to
those who are already in possession of more wealth than can be realized or enjoyed
(149).
Such eager of American people to live in a free society is well understandable and
can be explained by several factors as well. The ultimate goal of the American
social ideal is equality of opportunity and individual initiative. These are not born
of bureaucracy. This ideal is the expression of the spirit of our people. This ideal
obtained at the birth of Republic. It was the ideal of Lincoln; it is the ideal upon
which the nation has risen to unparalleled greatness (205). To another word, it is a
heritage of all generations, which made their

Germany also retained a foothold on the coast of North Africa, acquired when
Germany assisted Italy in 1941. The Russian counteroffensives at Stalingrad and
Kursk pushed back the perimeter of Hitler s Europe in the east. Yet, Hitler and his

the Americans to agree to a North African landing as the principal operation of

effectively postponed Roundup again, while subsequent operations in Sicily and the
Italian mainland delayed preparations for the cross Channel invasion through 1943
as well. The postponements were a principal cause of concern at inter Allied
conferences in Washington, Quebec, Cairo, and Tehran. At the last gathering,
Roosevelt and Stalin combined against Churchill to insist on the adoption of May
1944 as an unalterable date for the invasion (World War II). In return, Stalin agreed
to mount a simultaneous offensive in Eastern Europe and to join the war against
Japan once Germany had been defeated. The decision taken at Tehran was a final
indication of American determination to stage the cross Channel invasion and a
defeat for Alan Brooke, Churchill s chief of staff and the principal opponent of
premature action. Yet despite Brooke s procrastination, the British had in fact been
proceeding with plans, coordinated by Lieutenant General Frederick Morgan, who

History Of The Blitz
During the reign of terror known as The Blitz how was Britain able to protect all
its national treasure? Throughout Europe during the earliest days of the war Nazi s

himself was very interested in the art of other nation because he wanted to create a
museum in his hometown of Linz. Hitler dreamed of his hometown of Linz
becoming the cultural of capital of the Third Reich. The museum was expected to be
one of the greatest in europe. So many British civilians feared invasion and possible
losing their artwork and basically their history. So British officals began prepartions to

What Does History And Culture Of A Civilization Shape

Fashion and celebrity, as they are today, are often seen as the end product of a long
historical process of industrialisation and democratisation. How useful is it to see
them in this historical perspective? What does it help to explain? Your answer should
discuss concrete examples.
Introduction
Throughout the long expansion of human history, local fashion and clothing have
always been a good indicator that reflects historical, political and economical
forces within a society. Varies historical periods will have corresponding fashion
and style to represent their unique value and culture. Multiple looks with a variety
of stylistic influences are stripped from their historical contexts and become part of
a large fashion influenced process (Kaiser, 1990). Thus, our modern day fashion is
indeed an end product of series of historical progression. This essay will aim to
examine how does history and culture of a civilization shape its unique fashion
styling and influence modern day fashion by using China as an example and explore
the variances in its fashion development throughout five thousand years of rich
Chinese history.
Over the past five thousand years of Chinese history, fashion trend in China has
experienced great changes in most of Chinese dynasties and each of those historical
periods are able to distinguish itself among others while learn and borrow from the
previous dynasty and develope continuously generation after generation. Those

1.What were the traditional 4 functions of mgmt developed in 1912 by Fayol? What
functions do you think are effective in the 21st century?
The traditional 4 functions of management by Fayol are; Planning, Organizing,
Leading, and Controlling. Planning is the step where an action plan is created based
on the organization and team goal, objectives are created and deadlines. Organizing is
the step where team roles, responsibilities and task are assigned. Leading is the step
where managers motivate, and encourage team members to achieve the objectives
and goals of the company. Effective leaders motivate and influence others to achieve
their work. Controlling is the step where managers measure the achievement of
objectives and goals set, and to ensuring that the organization is operating
successfully.
In the 21st Century, I believe that all the traditional 4 functions are essential for the
success of a company. Any function is less effective than the other one. In order to
have an effective management and leadership the 4 functions are essential to
accomplish the objectives and goals of the organization.

The Religious Message Of The Book Of Esther In The Bible
In the study of the Old Testament, one often comes up with the question of why the
Book of Esther is included in the canon even though there is no mention of God
throughout the whole story. However, since the Jews accepted it in the Hebrew
Bible, many scholars wonder whether God did inspire the writing of the story of
Esther the Queen. Perhaps a more intriguing and fundamental question is: What are
some aspects of the story that express the religious messages in the teaching of the
Bible? In fact, scholars have answered this question with various opinions over time.
The story of Esther was often seen as so entertaining, so comical, and so subtle that
to speak of its message can be profoundly misleading (Levenson 12). Like most

As for the Book of Esther, there are four significant religious messages those same
messages that could be found anywhere else in the Hebrew canon that are worth
looking into to understand why the book is included in the Old Testamentas well as
why it is believed to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. Throughout the empowerment of
Queen Esther and the victory of the Jews against their enemies, the Book of Esther
teaches the danger of pleasing oneself, the responsibilities of higher authority, the
irony of fate and the faith in God s sovereignty. Before exploring the religious
messages of the Book of Esther to prove that the book is in fact inspired by the
Holy Spirit, it is worth looking into the historical and cultural settings of the story.
The story is believed to be written in the Diaspora, late in the Persian era, about 100
years after the Babylonian exile. The book is within the Five Megillot of Jewish
Scripture (along with the Book of Ruth, the Book of
The Effects Of The Great Smog Of London 1952
In early December of 1952, London England was hit with a cold front. The mixture
of the previous warm November air and the current cold weather created a fog that
rested throughout the city. During this time of year, cold weather was not
unexpected due to it being the winter season, but it did cause many civilians to
increase their heating in their homes. Due to an increase in coal burning by civilian
homes and by the everyday factories in London, the abundance of smoke lingered in
the air and was unable to escape into the atmosphere because it was caught by an
inversion. An inversion prevented the smoke from the coal burning in London s
homes, plus London s usual factory emissions, from escaping into the atmosphere.
The fog and smoke combined into a rolling, thick layer of smog(Rosenberg, The
Great London Smog 1952 ). The factory emissions mixed with the fog created a
yellowish smog that smelled like rotten eggs. On December 5, 1952 the thick
smog fell over the city leaving everyone blind. The smog lasted for the duration of
five days and had a tremendous impact on the environment. This event is now
known as The Great Smog of London 1952. Smog is defined by fog or haze being
mixed with smoke or any other pollutant. That is exactly what had happened in
London in 1952. At first, no one knew exactly what caused the yellow colour and the
rotten egg smell of the smog, but after many years scientists were finally able to
figure out the mystery behind the Great Smog of
The Executive Branch of the United States Government

The executive branch of the Unites States government consists of the President, Vice
President, Executive Office of the President (EOP), and the Cabinet (Citation). The
President is the highest official of the Executive branch. The powers of the President
are wide ranging and highly substantial but were also drafted in the constitution to be
limited by the other two branches of government. The remaining branches of
government are the Legislative branch and the Judicial branch. There functions of all
the branches are interrelated and the restraints on the amount of power each reserves
are also coordinated. This correlation involves the system of checks and balances
which was implemented by the framers of the Constitution. The President, as... Show

Bush s request to declare war in response to the attack on September 11, 2001 (The

Article II. Section 2. of the Constitution and reads, He shall have Power, by and with
the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the
Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and
Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and
Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court(http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters
/constitution_transcript.html). It essentially gives the President power to make
treaties with foreign nations however, two thirds of Congress must be in agreement
with the decision. Although the President, or the Executive Branch can be interpreted
as the most authoritative arm of government, its powers are still limited and
restricted by the process of checks and balances. Each branch of government has
some governance over the other two divisions. For instance, just as it is outlined
above, the President can nominate Ambassadors and Judges of the Supreme Court
but the decision must be upheld by Congress. In other words, under the Advice and
Consent clause the appointed member must be sworn in by the Senate. Again, this is
an example of how the system of checks and balances limits the powers of the
President. Naturally, the

  • 2. Gay Is the New Black in America As I was browsing the internet I discovered this article (McWhorter, 2013) comparing the gay community with the African American community. At first glance, I felt how can the two be compared? So, I decided to give this article a read. The purpose of the article was to bring attention to the civil rights movement of today dealing with the homosexual community s civil rights and how it compares to the historic civil rights movements made by the African Americancommunity from 1955 1968. In my mind as an African American, my pride was not allowing me to see the comparison for what it really was. African Americans have endured a longer, more violent time frame of inequality than those of the gay community. This is how I see and feel it to be. I had to do some more research to see exactly how this era s civil rights movement became an understudy for comparison to the civil rights movements by black Americans during the time span of 1955 1968. Us as African Americans need to support the gay civil rights movements of today because we should understand and realize the struggles we went through and help this nation become more equal. Gay is the new black in America, not all aspects of the two relate such as the level of violence endured by the African Americans as they fought to obtain equal rights but the fight to be seen equal is the same. The growth that the African American community has accomplished is a historic one that the gay community wishes to achieve as well. Although
  • 3. Coach Carter Is The Best Version Of You When a person is an athlete they have many highs and lows. The movie Coach Carter is a description of how to get through those highs and lows. Basketball is a sport that requires ninety percent thinking and ten percent of ability. The fact that an event that has happened in my life can be captured into a film and shown on a screen is amazing to me. The movie Coach Carter is very familiar to me; it s a film that taps into the emotion of the player, it also shows a player how to become motivated, and it teaches the lesson of how to become the best version of you. The movie Coach Carter is one of the best performances of how to get a basketballteam to abide by rules and create discipline. The movie is centered on a new coach who once was a player for the team back when he was in high school. The coach name is Coach Carter, and this is where the brilliant title for this movie came from. The team has been on a losing streak for the past couple of years and Mr. Carter has come to change this. The process of making this team successful is a hard task. During the process of creating the final teams there are players who come and go. The question that flourishes around this movie asked by the coach with no answer by the players is What is your deepest fear? Coach Carter made the team into winners, and then of course the player s grades drop in their classes. The one thing that Mr. Carter focused on was education because he felt as if without it, the boys on his basketball
  • 4. The Incarceration Of The United States Issues Felons Face when Reintegrated with Society Incarceration has been the primary means of punishment for criminals who have been convicted of felony offenses. While prisoners are serving the term of incarceration they face many difficult situations. Some of these situations can include committing new crimes within the system which could lead to prolonging the current sentencing. Those who are able to make parole after meeting the requirements set in place by the court are faced with new difficulties when trying to reintegrate in society. While inmates complete sentences ordered by the court, they have the opportunity to take advantage of Federal Aid including continued education, job skill training, employment opportunities and support programs. These programs are designed to lessen the struggle offenders face as they reintegrate into society by offering a positive direction upon their release. The overall goal is to achieve a reduction in the rate of recidivism. While in prison, criminals are given the opportunity to continue education as many inmates do not have basic, grade school, education. Lack of education prevents most released offenders from gaining regular employment and earning high enough wage to prevent them from relapsing back into crime. Inmates in Florida prisons tested at a median grade level of 6.9, with 64 percent scoring less than ninth grade literacy skills, according to the Florida Department of Corrections 2006 07 Population Report
  • 5. Essay about The Taxi Industry in New South Wales The Taxi Industry in New South Wales has been one that has involved very little competition within its market, allowing prices for its services to be quite high. Now, however with the advancing technology, the rise of App based taxi or Ride Sharing services such as Uber threaten to provide substitutes to customers increasing competition in the Taxi Industry. The NSW Taxi Industry is somewhat run by the NSW Government (Abelson). There are three major companies, that as (Abelson) states, Control 90% of the Taxi operators in Sydney . As a result an oligopoly market structure is formed, as there is some competition between these major companies within the Taxi Service industry. However due to allegiances (Abelson) that these companies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result the major companies lose some of the market power that they held, meaning that they will have greater price elasticity and can no longer charge prices at the heights that they could if there wasn t any competition, as customers will be offered a cheaper substitute. This then will lead to a change in the market structure as pressure will be placed on the allegiances formed between the major companies in order to compete with the new ride sharing services. These ride sharing services also do not incorporate any fees for entry such as the license fees associated with the traditional taxi service industry, which then, due to competition, could result in a lowering of these fees, causing less profits for the large companies in the taxi service industry. This will also lead to lower prices charged once again. It could also cause ride sharing companies to become more appealing for the Taxi Service drivers and they could poach them from these larger companies. So as a result of this now competitive taxi market, there is a lower profit for the taxi service industry infuriating them (Ben Grubb 2014) and leading them to strongly oppose the addition of these app based ride sharing services. There has been some evidence of the benefits of allowing these ride sharing services to provide competition in the taxi service market. An example of this is in New York where according to (Tim Worstall 2014), drivers for ride sharing services such as Uber
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Winning Games The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a childs confidence and self esteem. This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values learned by losing. Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually worked hard to make their team successful because it rewards the kids who were barely even engaged in the sport. We need look no further than the 2011 World Series for the value of earning trophies
  • 7. Burger King And Brome Modern Eatery Millions of restaurants market their food in various ways to attract you, the consumer. In Kiera Butler s essay, The Creepy Language Tricks Taco Bell Uses to Fool People into Eating There, she explains how various language usage on a menu can be used to provide a positive and appealing impression to the customers of that restaurant. Marketers create menus with the goal to appeal to the buyers thus, creating revenue for the restaurant. A restaurant s menumay vary from a high quality cuisine to a cheaper lower quality food. Two popular restaurant s menus: Burger King and Brome Modern Eatery, use numerous ways to portray their menus in an appealing and positive manor. Though both restaurants have a similar cuisine, Burger King, is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way Burger King tries to make their menu stand out and appeal the consumers is by, using a variety of fonts. Burger King assumes that their customers struggle to stay focused while reading a boring menu so, to keep their customers interested and focused, Burger King uses a plethora of bold attention grabbing fonts. Burger King wants to be flashy and use fonts to create this bold image. Finally, vibrant color on a menu is used to make it appear energetic, or even exciting to the customers. If the menu was boring or dull in color, it would create the same negative impression about the food. The entire Burger King menu is packed with various colors for each section of the menu, this creates an appealing image for the menu. So, what impressions do these tactics provide on the actual quality of the food served at Burger King? Unfortunately, there does come a point when too much on a menu becomes a bad thing. Over using pictures, fonts, and colors on the menu tends to make the quality of the food seem cheap and unfulfilling. Burger King uses pictures, fonts and colors to provide an appealing and positive impression about the food they serve however, these tactics may also distract the customers from the quality of the food. In contrast, Brome Modern Eatery s menu includes limited amounts of pictures, fewer fonts, and less colors compared to Burger King. Brome s very simple and straight forward menu consists of eleven different burgers that are
  • 8. How Does Steinbeck Present Lennie s Friendship Of Mice and Men Essay Has anyone ever had such a strong friendship with someone that they consider them family? The book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck illustrates an amazing friendship. The book is mostly about two men named Lennie and George. This story gets very sad and ends up leaving everyone depressed at the end. One of the themes he uses is companionship. Lennie is one of the main characters in the book. Lennie and George have this amazingly strong friendship. He uses Lennie and George s friendship as a symbol for companionship. I was only foolin , George. I don t want no ketchup. If it was here you could have some but I wouldn t eat none George. I d leave it all for you (Steinbeck 8). Lennie is saying that if there was something he could give to George then he would. Lennie who had been watching, imitated George exactly. He pushed himself back, drew up his knees, embraced them, looked over to George to see whether he had it just right (Steinbeck 10). In this quote he is trying to copy George because Lennie looks up to him. Also, Lennie is a different kind of guy. He s practically a kid trapped in an adult s body and doesn t know his own strength. George deals with Lennie with patience and kindness despite his own frustration with Lennie.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... George is also a main character in the book. George is one of those men that tries to protect everyone. Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world (Steinbeck 15). George is saying he is glad he has Lennie because it gets lonely. I want you to stay with me, Lennie. Jesus Christ somebody d shoot you for a coyote if you was by yourself. (Steinbeck 13). George is emphasizing to not leave him because he enjoys having Lennie around. He also is one of those men that people come to with all their problems. George is very protective of Lennie and tells him many times what to do and not
  • 9. The, 12 Angry Men, And Nasa s Challenger Disaster Speak your mind even if your voice shakes , a quote made famous by Maggie Kuhn, is the foundation of how I conduct my life. While the fundamentals of being an open minded, educated, and well rounded individual involve considering the opinions of others and evaluating both sides of the argument, too often people become complacent and lose the ability to think for themselves. The common term that refers to this type of herd mentality is sheeple . The play, 12 Angry Men, and NASA s Challenger disaster are two prime examples of the downfalls of groupthink. Below, I will discuss both the helpful and harmful aspects of groupthink surrounding both 12 Angry Men, and the Challenger disaster, as well as the effects of groupthink on today s voting young adults. In the play, 12 Angry Men, the vote was 11 1 in favor of a guilty verdictin the case being tried. The one juror stood his ground, explained his theory as to why a guilty verdict could not be delivered, and was unwavering in his stance. The jurors went around the table twice, and ended with everyone siding with the original juror. As the deliberations played out and jurors were questioned, some jurors were not able to justify their guilty verdict, merely stating It just is . This statement shows the effect of the groupthink mentality, especially since one juror was considerably vocal and angered by the time being spent on deliberations. The logical discussions the other jurors had with one another displayed a positive aspect
  • 10. Advancing the Individual s Knowledge of the Holocaust Essay By comparing, analyzing and questioning the validity of Maus I and II, Night, Night and Fog, nonfictional historical accounts and a poem, called Already Embraced by the Arm of Heavenly Solace, found in Europe in the Contemporary World, Schindler s List and the Return to Auschwitz we may determine to what degree these sources serve to advance humanity s understanding of the holocaust. The holocaust can be explained as the historical event in which the Nazi s, who came to power in Germany in January 1933, and its collaborators murdered and persecuted approximately six million Jews. This came about because of the German belief that they were racially superior and the Jews were an alien threat to the German state. For humanity to advance in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conclusions of the various sources, brought on by the analysis of the issues above and by comparing these sources to each other, determined that overall these sources have a high degree in serving to further man s understanding of the holocaust. By categorizing the two movies, Night and Fog and Schindler s List, together we are able to better analyze and contrast the two similar yet different sources. First off, both these sources can be deemed accountable because they use more than one source. The documentary, Night and Fog, uses two different survivors of the holocaust as well as various other sources. Schindler s List also relied on more than one person s account of the situation to write the movie s script. This is unlike the sources such as Return to Auschwitz, written by the first hand account of Kitty Hart , and Night, written by Elie Wiesel who also had first hand experiences , that depend on one person s account or report of the situation to tell the story. However, the written work isn t used for entertainment purposes, like Schindler s List is, and therefore is less likely to be changed to draw attention or gain financially. Schindler s List is a famous movie used to

Analysis Of Svava Jakobsdottir s A Story For Children Through the eyes of society everyone has a set role they are expected to fulfill and certain characteristics they are supposed to exemplify. These roles and characteristics, this discourse, tells everyone how they should act and speak. For women it is the role of the mother. In our culture, that means raising the children, completing the household chores, and cooking all of the meals to perfection. Women are typical thought of as being demure and polite, small in stature, and submissive to the male gender. In the reverse, men also have certain roles that they are expected to fill and characteristics they are supposed to exemplify. Men are expected to be strong, dominant, and in charge of their families. They are often depicted, both in the media and in life, as the leaders. This discourse that we all follow can frequently be seen in Svava Jakobsdottir s A Story for Children. The short story tells the tale of a woman as she raises her children and takes care of her household. The mother is completely devoted to her children and seeks to fulfill her role in the hometo the fullest extent. As the story progresses, the main character slowly has pieces of herself removed by her children: her toe, her brain, and finally her heart. At the end of the text, after all of the children have become adults started families of their own, the mother realizes that she now has nothing and feels useless. In her short story, Jakobsdottir uses dramatization to depict the gender stereotypes and

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1+6=7, 7 is a happy number. All numbers that are 10ЛЈ are also happy numbers, this is because their digits will always be one 1 and one or more 0 s. an example would be 10ВІ=100 and 100 is a happy number. Furthermore if a happy number N has one more zero added to the end of it, it will still be a happy number this is because zero does not affect the sum of the squares. An example is 13 is a happy number and so is 130. The first few happy numbers are 1, 7, 10, 13, 19, 23, 28, 31, 32, 44, 49, 68, 70, 79, 82, 86, 91, 94, 97, 100..... Unhappy numbers Unhappy numbers are numbers that after having their digits squared and added together repeatedly the number always leads to 4. This is how you find out if a number is unhappy: 16: 1ВІ+6ВІ= 1+36= 37 3ВІ+7ВІ= 9+49= 58 5ВІ+8ВІ= 25+64= 89 8ВІ+9ВІ= 64+81= 145 1ВІ+4ВІ+5ВІ= 1+16+25= 42 4ВІ+2ВІ=16+4=20 2ВІ+0ВІ= 4+0= 4 As you can see, 16 is an unhappy number. This sequence is a continuous cycle because 4ВІ=16, and the whole thing will start all over again. 37, 58, 89, 145, 42, 20, and 4 are also all unhappy numbers because they are all part of the sequence. This means all these numbers also loop around the number 4 in a cycle. Happy Cube Numbers Happy cube numbers are numbers that when their digits are cubed and added together repeatedly they will equal to 1. They are the same as happy numbers except that their digits are cubed instead of squared.

How could I put into speech a something felt, a something like the strains of music heard in sleep, a something that convinced yet transcended utterance? (35). Yet Wolf remains unshaken from beginning to end. I believe that life is a mess ...It is like yeast, a ferment, a thing that moves and may move for a minute, an hour, a year, or a hundred years, but that in the end will cease to move. The big eat the little that they may continue to move, the strong eat the weak that they may retain their strength. The lucky eat the most and move the longest, that is all, (35). This contrast endures throughout the entire novel, and even in the end Wolf utters his last word as BOSH! So, once again, Wolf and Hump hold two entirely different and very singular

It contains the objectives of the project describing the deliverables, while also containing a description of the criteria used to assess when each section is completed, risk assessments and identifies stakeholders and management (Documentation Consultants, n.d.). The Project Management Plan is also produced during the planning phase. It contains the project s schedule and milestones, required resources and cost estimations and budgets. To start off the planning you must study the current system with the people involved (such as clients, employees or management). These groups would have meetings to discuss areas of the system that could be improved and suggest possible solutions. In these meetings, agendas are given out so that everyone knows what the objectives are. Notes are recorded to be reviewed during requirements analysis. Also included in the analysis phase is a feasibility study. As the name would suggest it simply assesses if the new system is feasible within the budget and manpower of the company. • 35. Greed In Abigail s Introduction The cause of nearly all of humanity s conflicts and wrongdoings, from wars over land, to massacres, to robberies can be traced back to one human vice: greed. This inherent hunger for property, power, or wealth, can completely take over a person s life and lead to conflict and misery. However, unlike physical hunger, which can be easily satisfied, greed is often intensified, not mitigated by the attainment of what one desires. This self perpetuating nature of greed indicates that the vice is not actually caused by the need for something, as hunger is, but rather the belief that one deserves some object or quality more than everyone else. Thus a person s greed can only be satisfied once that person has all of what he or she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Early on in the book, it is clear that Artemis s family is extremely important to him. He worries about his sick mother and is constantly looking for news about his missing father. This sympathy also extends to Butler and Juliet, who although not direct members of the family, help to fill the role that Artemis s missing and insane parents cannot. The book makes this clear in the statement, Artemis was the closest thing Butler had to a friend, and Butler was the closest Artemis had to a father (Colfer 16). The empathy Artemis feels for these four family members: his mother, his father, Butler, and Juliet, begins to weaken his greed very early on in his plot. This occurs as soon as he sees the fairy he is about to kidnap. He thinks, Artemis saw the pain in the creature s eyes as the hollow hypodermic plunged into her body. Although unjustly criticized for the purposeless extravagance and disorderliness of his writing, due to his digressions into many different topics while discussing a single one, especially in his most celebrated novel today, though most criticized and unappreciated in his time, Moby Dick, Herman Melville is considered one of the most important figures in American Literature today. Herman Melville is the most Shakespearean of our authors, according to Herald Bloom, an American literary critic. Other literary critics deem his works the most crucial achievements in American literature, and literary creations of a high order blending fact, fiction, adventure and subtle symbolism. Melville communicated his genius not only through his impeccable use of language and engrossing creation of plot, but also and mainly through his development of more than merely unique or odd characters characters he called original. • 39. The Role Of Music As A Reflection Of The Human Condition Shostakovich, Soviets, and Suppression Scholars and artists commonly describe music as a reflection of the human condition. The period in history from the mid 1930s onward marked a tragic phase in twentieth century music and this reflection: the total politicizing of the art by totalitarianism means. Dictators, including Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union, were manipulating popular culture to take control of their people. Stalin supported the idea of a Soviet modernism, a school of art that would embody the power of the new proletarian state. He monitored every recording made in the country, writing judgments of good, so so, and bad on their sleeves. Stalin believed music to be the engineer of the human souls, and hoped to use this as a way to influence his people that Soviet life was improving. Fearing a phone call from the dictator or being arrested in the night, Soviet composers such as Dmitri Shostakovich wrote music with chained hands in an effort to please their leader. A study of Shostakovich s Symphony No. 5 and Symphony No. 7 will reveal the influence of communism in the Soviet Union on his music as well as his dynamic relationship with Joseph Stalin. Dmitri Shostakovich was born in 1906 and showed an aptitude for music at a young age. • 41. Introductory Lines In Beowulf Though Beowulf holds many significant lines throughout its text, the first eleven introductory lines serve as a strong setup for the epic s broad themes and cultural values. While these lines may easily be brushed off as a simple hook for the poem s beginning, the first lines hold much more significance than one might initially assume. Within the poem, Beowulf, the poet manages to employ the first eleven lines as a means of conveying the most essential theme of kingship. The poet achieves this illustration by showing the importance of kingship, the qualities which a leader requires, and the constant role which kingship plays throughout the poem. Because of this important theme of kingship included within the introduction, these eleven lines serve as some of the most important throughout the poem. Primarily, within this section of the poem s introduction, the poet manages to utilize Shield Sheafson s portrayal as a means of providing an image of the importance of kingship. The poet states within these lines that, A foundling to start with, he would flourish later on / as his powers waxed and his worth was proved. / In the end each clan on the outlying coasts / beyond the whale road had to yield to him / and begin to pay tribute. That was one good king, (41). With this description, we can see that the poet places a heavy emphasis on kingship within these lines. The poet states that Sheafson s growth in quality kingship caused all tribes to yield to him and pay tribute, and this made him a good king. This presents the fact that kingship is required within the culture of the poem, and that it enables Sheafson to help his people. Additionally, as the text advances, we see the poet make further claims of the required nature of kingship through Beowulf s character. We can see this in places such as when the poet states, ...Onela returned / to the land of Sweden, leaving Beowulf / to ascend the throne, to sit in majesty / and rule over the Geats. He was a good king, (). Just as with the last quote, we can see the poet places heavy emphasis on Beowulf s quality as a king. Kingship is displayed through Beowulf s quality rule over the Geats, and this shows the importance of kingship throughout the poem. These two

Perhaps a more intriguing and fundamental question is: What are some aspects of the story that express the religious messages in the teaching of the Bible? In fact, scholars have answered this question with various opinions over time. The story of Esther was often seen as so entertaining, so comical, and so subtle that to speak of its message can be profoundly misleading (Levenson 12). Like most theological... As for the Book of Esther, there are four significant religious messages those same messages that could be found anywhere else in the Hebrew canon that are worth looking into to understand why the book is included in the Old Testamentas well as why it is believed to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. Throughout the empowerment of Queen Esther and the victory of the Jews against their enemies, the Book of Esther teaches the danger of pleasing oneself, the responsibilities of higher authority, the irony of fate and the faith in God s sovereignty. Before exploring the religious messages of the Book of Esther to prove that the book is in fact inspired by the Holy Spirit, it is worth looking into the historical and cultural settings of the story. The story is believed to be written in the Diaspora, late in the Persian era, about 100 years after the Babylonian exile. The book is within the Five Megillot of Jewish Scripture (along with the Book of Ruth, the Book of

The mixture of the previous warm November air and the current cold weather created a fog that rested throughout the city. During this time of year, cold weather was not unexpected due to it being the winter season, but it did cause many civilians to increase their heating in their homes. Due to an increase in coal burning by civilian homes and by the everyday factories in London, the abundance of smoke lingered in the air and was unable to escape into the atmosphere because it was caught by an inversion. An inversion prevented the smoke from the coal burning in London s homes, plus London s usual factory emissions, from escaping into the atmosphere. The fog and smoke combined into a rolling, thick layer of smog(Rosenberg, The Great London Smog 1952 ). The factory emissions mixed with the fog created a yellowish smog that smelled like rotten eggs. On December 5, 1952 the thick smog fell over the city leaving everyone blind. The smog lasted for the duration of five days and had a tremendous impact on the environment. This event is now known as The Great Smog of London 1952. Smog is defined by fog or haze being mixed with smoke or any other pollutant. That is exactly what had happened in London in 1952. At first, no one knew exactly what caused the yellow colour and the rotten egg smell of the smog, but after many years scientists were finally able to figure out the mystery behind the Great Smog of

The Executive Branch of the United States Government Essay The executive branch of the Unites States government consists of the President, Vice President, Executive Office of the President (EOP), and the Cabinet (Citation). The President is the highest official of the Executive branch. The powers of the President are wide ranging and highly substantial but were also drafted in the constitution to be limited by the other two branches of government. The remaining branches of government are the Legislative branch and the Judicial branch. There functions of all the branches are interrelated and the restraints on the amount of power each reserves are also coordinated. This correlation involves the system of checks and balances which was implemented by the framers of the Constitution. The President, as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bush s request to declare war in response to the attack on September 11, 2001 (The White House, 2001). Another very notable role of the President also outlined in Article II. Section 2. of the Constitution and reads, He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court(http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters /constitution_transcript.html). It essentially gives the President power to make treaties with foreign nations however, two thirds of Congress must be in agreement with the decision. Although the President, or the Executive Branch can be interpreted as the most authoritative arm of government, its powers are still limited and restricted by the process of checks and balances. Each branch of government has some governance over the other two divisions. For instance, just as it is outlined above, the President can nominate Ambassadors and Judges of the Supreme Court but the decision must be upheld by Congress. In other words, under the Advice and Consent clause the appointed member must be sworn in by the Senate. Again, this is an example of how the system of checks and balances limits the powers of the President. Naturally, the
