My Overall Team Experiences During The Managing...
Outline
This is the reflective essay of my overall team experiences during the Managing organisations and
people course this trimester. Reflecting upon the past and its experiences will enable me to broaden
my communication, ability in solving conflicts and enrich my future expertise. To look back at my
group work all this while helped me in gaining the knowledge to face the real world. Frankly saying
never did I work in a group or a team before, so it was a different experience altogether. This paper
will give me an opportunity to explore through various aspects of my role in our team. My role being
a key speaker perfectly suited my personal character. I found this job interesting as matching our
personal traits with profession will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast diversity in a group will help the members come up with non identical ideas and views
thereby finishing the task with better efficiency (Leonard, Graham, Bonacum, 2004). All the members
started feeling important in the team, which therefore overpowered the negatives arising due to the
diversity. According to Waller (2004), Gupta (2004) Giambatista (2004), proper communication
without any deviations play a key role in boosting the productivity of the overall team. Nixon (2014),
Johnson and Wiggs (2011) claimed that effective speaking is key for a good team. Also the research
(Wu Xiao, 2011; Peterson, 2012) supports my argument. It says that the individuals in a team should
be frank in their approach and should stand by their own arguments until completely convinced by the
logic. Hence I tried not to give up on my opinion as Danks (2012, p24) categorized a clear and
reasoned thinker and communicator . Clear communication and open expression of views and ideas
will build up the cohesiveness of team. This in turn also develops a better understanding which is a
must to work together.
Later on, the work was delegated within us to improve the self, show courage, persistence and
effective determination (DuPont 2013, p.69). Here I should also mention about the challenges and the
way we handled them. However improper

I Have Danced Before But Contra Dancing Essay
I have danced before but never contra dancing. I have done two weeks of ballet dancing and also two
weeks of Hip Hop dance. Before this contra dance experience, I was expecting six different instructors
teaching us how to country dance. I envisioned us all being each other s dance partners and dancing in
a barn sort of setting. I was incredibly neutral about the complete experience and didn t genuinely
know how to feel. I thought that I would simply go with the flow of how the trip would go. But as
soon as we arrived and I see how many people there was I was extremely nervous. Nervous about
learning so much with several experienced contra dancers. I was incredibly nervous that one incorrect
move could ruin the entire dance. I was also exceptionally excited to be learning something so new
since I hadn t even heard of contra dancing before. I was also dreadfully excited to get to know so
many unique and experienced dancers.
Walking to the building where it was we walked through this playground and the building seemed to
be a little inconspicuous so that reinsured my thought that there wouldn t be many people. There was
also an awfully small parking lot that would fit about seven cars. When I arrived in this space I realize
how enormous it was and questioned myself Are we really going to need all of this space? As people
started to arrive I was able to see all the different types of attire that people would wear to contra
dance. I also got to see how many people were

Child Labor Rights
Mother Jones, Cesar Chavez, and Malala Yousafzai all fought for the rights that they believed in. They
all were leaders part of a big picture. Although these three individuals used different methods to get
their point across, they all had courage to speak out about injustice and improve human rights. Mother
Jones was a lady who stood up for all of the children who were mistreated because of child labor.
When trying to get her point out, Mother Jones went to newspapers for public articles on what was
happening to these working children. Unfortunately, the factories owned the newspapers so they
wouldn t publish her position on the subject, so she made her own form of publicity by forming a
march of children and parents. (Josephson). She was an activist for the abolishment of child labor.
Mother Jones had a lot of courage to speak out even though not a lot of people listened. After publicly
marching to Sagamore Hills, Judith Pinkerton Josephson states, Within a few years, Pennsylvania,
New York, New Jersey, and other states did pass tougher child labor laws. The federal government
finally passed a child labor law (part of the Fair Labor Standards Act) in 1938 thirty five years after
the march of the mill children. Mother Jones was persistent on getting her message out in public
because so many people were clueless on what was happening to the children. She would most
definitely say that defending all human rights is a necessity because even though this particular issue

Sacrifices In Athens
Somewhere around the 5th century before Christ the city of Athens was stricken with a mysterious
plague, all efforts failed to stop the plague, the leaders of Athens thinking that some god had been
offended so they sought for a way to appease the offended god, however this was not a easy task as
Athens was know as the god capital of the world . Having made two visits to that city I can attest to
the fact that it lives up to its name. Sacrifices was made in all sorts of ways, yet the plague never
ceased to destroy its people. The city fathers decided to call on a seer and philosopher poet named
Epimenides. Epimenides came from the Island of Cyprus after evaluating the problem, he came to the
conclusion that none of the know gods were

Altruism Over Incentives For Organ Donation Essay
Altruism Over Incentives for Organ Donation
Over the years, organ donation challenges and demands increased inversely in proportion to the organ
shortages. The primary mission of donor s organizations is to save as many terminally ill recipients at
the end stages of their lives as possible with an end goal of giving these recipients a normal a life span.
The significance of organ donation is to restore an ailing person s quality of life. The ongoing issue of
organ shortages may be a symptom of the current program that present an idealistic portrait of how
these issues may be resolved. As a result, the mission and ultimate goal of organizations such as
UNOS and Donate Life America, among others, is to obtain viable organs for their patients and to
promote; education, empower altruism and establish quality ethics, and act as a resource for existing
and potential donors.
Organ donations can be controversial in the minds of potential organ donors due to inhumane activity,
dehumanizing processes, or even the circulation of illegal revenue. Conceptual changes need to be
made consistent with altruism in order to produce the desired outcome of increasing the availability of
desperately needed organs and tissues. Groups such as the mentioned above can act as a resource and
clearinghouse mainly focusing on patient s needs. Organdonor.gov is ran by the Federal Health
Resources Services Administration and can act as ballast providing information geared toward donors

Justinian Plague Research Paper
Plague has a notable place in history and has had massive effects on the development of modern
civilization. For centuries, plague represented disaster for people living in Asia, Africa and Europe and
because the cause of plague was unknown, plague outbreaks contributed to immense panic in cities
and countries where it appeared. Plague is an infectious disease that affects rodents, other animals and
humans caused by Yersinia pestis bacteria. Yersinia pestis is the causative agent of the Plague. It is a
virulent pathogen causes painful, severe illness as well as death. Yersinia pestis is a Gram negative,

Ordinary People Character Analysis
In the Academy award winning film, Ordinary people the Jarrett family lives and ordinary life with
ordinary problems, But once they lost their oldest son buck, there entire world gets turned upside
down. The mother of this family Beth Jarrett, takes the loss of her oldest son the hardest, she avoids
any and all conversation about the topic. In situations like these the strategies of conflict management
always can help. Some ways the whole family could have benefited from this is to create emotional
safety, this would have let the whole family know how they feel about the situation and what they can
do to improve it. Every member of the family at one point in the movie went into silence for violence
mode, for example every time Beth the mother got confronted about her uncomfortable issue with the
death of buck she would flee the scene any way she could. Conrad did both in some scenes, he might
have shot into attack mode, or just left to go to school. The father Calvin should shut down most of the

He feels greef from that moment on because he was the one that survived when he thinks he should

happen and it makes his life exhausting. During these situations Conrad would use the form of silence,
when he is talking to his dad about how school and how his friends are, he is using masking. Also this

The Problem Of The Water Crisis
To address something as complex as the water crisis, one must first examine the current condition of
the problem. Currently, the water crisis is being driven by three things. First, many governments in
Africa are not interested in investing in nationwide plumbing. That is either because they are not able
to afford the cost of laying the info structure or they can afford it but feel no need to invest that much.
Even if a country can afford to install plumbing, generally, plumbing is only installed in urban areas
and has little to no effect on those living in rural Africa. Second, many large companies buy out water
rights and use them to dump toxic chemicals with no oversight. The result is that there is less water
considered drinkable. Furthermore, this can ruin long time water sources for people that may be
nowhere near the business. Third, some companies who buy out water rights sell the water back to the
people. Often times, they charge outrageous prices that the majority of citizens cannot afford. As a
result, previously free water is now double the average income per day. In an effort to address the
problem, a lot of nonprofits have formed for the express purpose of helping increase water
accessibility. To do this, almost all of these companies dig wells. Unskilled groups use dug wells or
driven wells which are subject to contamination and ineffective during a drought. More skilled groups
use drilled wells which are less subject to contamination and work in all

This question has been central to comparative political economy for many years. However, most
answers to it focus on institutions in a single sphere of the political economy. In economics, there are
large but separate literatures on labor and financial markets. One explores the impact of labor
regulations, social regimes, and trade unions on growth or unemployment (Nickell 1997; OECD 1994;
Calmfors/ Driffil 1988). The other considers the effects of accounting standards, the legal standing of
owners or creditors, ownership patterns, and equity or bank based finance on levels of investment or
growth (Carlin/Mayer 1999a, 1999b; LaPorta et al. 1998a; Huang/Xu 1999; Mayer 1996). A similar
separation is evident in political science. Although neocorporatism can be defined in broad terms (cf.
Katzenstein 1985; Schmitter/Lehmbruch 1978), analyses of its economic impact usually focus on the
organization of the trade union movement, considering its interaction mainly with the partisanship of
governance (Cameron 1984; Alvarez et al. 1991; Garrett 1999).1 An entirely different literature
examines the structure of financial systems (Verdier 2000; Cox 1986; Zysman 1984).2 However, there
are good reasons to expect interaction effects among institutions across spheres of the political
economy. In recent years, significant interaction effects have been found between monetary
institutions and those governing

Football Symbolism Essay
With more than a billion watchers yearly, football is the biggest spectator sport on the planet. The
popularity of football is based on the competitive nature of the game and the idea of being a fan. In
addition to cheering for their team, fans inside or outside the stadium have a great deal to express.
Football is seen by many as a stage to express their national personality, political association, ethnic
pride, and religious belongings. This gives Football numerous qualities that make it something beyond
a game to many. The symbolism of football clubs, players, and colors can mean for the fans a close
feeling of having a place and personality. Also they are crystallized by the economic, social and
political settings that surround communities associated with Football. Football all over the world
depends on the masses, for its huge popularity. It is considered to be the game of the crowds. Football
is a game of 12th side (11 players and the fans), which shows the important role of the football fans.
Through football it is quite easy to grab the perception of identity in its ethnic, religious, and national
borders. Archetti (1999) describes Football as a game that captures the notion of an imagined
community perfectly. He suggests that when players are representing a nation, it is much easier to
imagine the nation and confirm to the national identity. Football is seen as a game in which each team
works as much as they can to occupy the territory of the other team by getting the ball into the goal.
This makes the game announce a winner and a loser, not only inside the stadium. As football depends
on the masses it becomes a stage for political activity. In the case of the ultras which they rely mainly
on the jobless youth, in this sense it shows the collective identity and class struggle. Therefore the
ability to channel and influence the ultras is appealing to the governing elite. Accordingly the political
governments sent messages through using the fandom of football. For example Mubarak meant to
associate his name through the national football team by attending matches in the stadium especially
the final match of Africa cup of nations in 2006. In this way the NDP (National Democratic Party)

Sustainable Solutions at Dell

Dr. Denise Land
March 2010
Sustainable Solutions and Dell Computers In this tech driven world, computers, and electronics are
the common denominators. Millions of people use computers and electronic devices multiple times
every day. Between innovation and use, the need to replace these devices is paramount and creates a
solid market for certain electronic manufacturers. One of the biggest environmental concerns is toxic
waste and plastics in landfills. A report about e waste on the Greenpeace website states that more than
4.6 million [tons] of e waste ended up in landfills in the United States in 2000. Toxic chemicals in
electronics products can leach into the land over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the last portion of the paper, various complexity analysis tools are examined in relation to Dell and
the computer/technology industry. The industry was examined in terms for the Fitness Landscape,
Boid Analysis, Industry Evolution Modeling, and Life Cycle Analysis. Examining Dell in the context
of multiple frameworks granted insights into key factors such as material inputs, resource depletion,
byproducts, waste and disposal options and stakeholder versus societal obligations and
responsibilities. An analysis of the Sustainable Value Framework, including a detailed analysis of the
sustainable value of Dell and its products and services rounds out the research.
Key Take aways
One critical factor repeatedly presented itself throughout this research project and that is the absolute
necessity for Dell to find a way to innovate in a sustainable manner. Having Chairman Michael Dell at
the helm again is beneficial to the growth and cohesive vision of the firm, but Dell is losing ground to
rivals such as HP in the areas of technological advances and sales. Another key take away is that Dell
leaders must invest in the training and re educating of employees and invest in the research and
development of products in collaboration with the firm s key suppliers in its network. Critical to the

The Adventrue of Hucleberry Fin by Mark Twain
The classic novel Huckleberry Fin, by Mark Twain, has been debated of being appropriate or not due
to the racist content within. Many disagree with Mark Twain s use of derogatory terms and phrases
such as the word Nigger in his book. IT seems unlikely that anyone, of any color, who had actually
read Huckleberry Fin...could accuse of it being racist (Kaplan 20). Huckleberry Fin uses necessary
racism in order to show the culture and attributes of the time period as well as to portray Twains
message of promoting equality and that they are not morally better if they are one race over another.
What is now seen as racism was simply the culture and attributes during the time setting of the novel
(Toltzman 1). Huck Fin was written when cruel and unjust treatments of blacks were common and use
of derogatory words didn t get much attention. Huck Finn is during a time when blacks were not
treated or thought as people but as objects without personalities or emotions. For instance, Jim is
initially only knows to whose property he is. He was considered Miss Watson property that was about
to be sold, which resulted in him running away. The racist attitudes of the South are were most
obvious in the character of Huck Finn himself, and how he relates to the runaway slave, Jim. He plays
tricks on Jim and uses dialogue that makes him appear foolish or perhaps to make Jim painfully aware
of his own belittlement. During their entire journey Huck and Jim become closer. They achieved a

While I Fully Believe That It Is Important To Understand
While I fully believe that it is important to understand what happens in the past, I believe that what we
experience in the present is just as important. Throughout the semester this class, values and ethics,
has helped me to understand not only the actions of myself, but the actions of those around me in the
past as well. This class has taught me what it means to have values and morals, as well as how
important it is to accept the values and morals of others. Meeting and being around people who had
different morals and values than I did, is something that I have never really been around, so this class
was both positive and negative for me. Growing up in East Tennessee has always been a dream come

Religion to many people, myself included, is the basis of who they are. Jong explains the role of
religious leaders, within a person s value system. Over the course of this semester, I have leaned on
my religious views to get me through, each morning before class, I sit in my car and read my bible.
Then, coming into class, I apply my religious thoughts to the topic of the day, it is amazing just how
much that alone changed my views.
Throughout the semester, my values have not really been altered that much. I have however, accepted
people s opinions that are way different from mine. I have heard numerous people talk about why they
think like they do and where they get their morals from. There have been many times that the people
that are in my group, or sit around me have said things that I do not agree with at all, but instead of
arguing, I listened. While I did not agree with them, in some instances I agreed with their reasoning
behind things, and I think that is important. I think this class is a lot about learning that everyone is not
the same, and that everyone is always going to have a differnt opinion than you do, and for the first
time I think that is ok.
This course has defiantly taught me a lot about stereotype, not just that I have but that everyone else
around me has as well. Coming into the class, I never expected it to be like it has been. I expected it to

Interviewing Is The American Common Man
Interviewing is the method of qualitative research that normally comes first to people s mind. It is
much more than merely asking premeditated question after question. Interviewing is an art that
requires the ability to quickly create a relationship between two people in order to gain knowledge.
There are many techniques when it comes to conducting valuable interviews. Not every technique
works for every interviewer and there is more than one right way to interview. For instance, while
both Robert Lane, author of Political Ideology: Why the American Common Man Believes What He
Does, and Judith Kestenberg author of Children During the Nazi Reign, used interviewing to gain

Kestenberg s participants were offered nothing, but most described a feeling of emotional healing
from letting their deeply hidden feelings and experiences out which is an unseen reward in of itself.
Deciding a sample size is a vital aspect of researching. Lane gathered all of his information from only
15 people. This is a narrow sample in comparison to Kestenberg who along with her colleagues,
collectively interviewed over people who had some relation with the Holocaust. While Lane s
interviews served as the main material for his book meaning he relied on information from only 15
people. He interpreted the responses from the interviews to find the roots of the political belief from
his subjects. Kestenberg took her interviews and then analyzed them psychologically, and her broad
sample gave her much more information to work with. Of the 15 people that Lane interviewed, all of
them were white, male, and married fathers. Eleven out of the fifteen were Catholic and 11 were either
Italian or Irish (Western Political Quarterly). This sample is obviously not very diverse in comparison
to Kestenberg who interviewed people of both genders from over sixteen countries. Some of her
participants were actual child survivors, others were children of child survivors and even more were
former Nazi members during the Holocaust. This wide array of participants adds different perspectives
to her research, while Lane s

The Impact Of Gender On Organizational Work Unit Teams
The Impacts of Gender on Organizational Work Unit Teams
Nada Nafissa
Morgan State University
The influence of women in society has undergone a paradigm shift in America over the last century.
Indeed, women have gone from being solely relegated to the roles of mother and housewife to
legislators and CEOs, from not having the basic right to vote to being elected officials, Supreme Court
Justices and frontrunners for the office of President of the United States. But while the power of
women in society has grown exponentially during this time, American society remains largely
bureaucratic and male dominated in many ways. Gender differences remain part of the American
landscape, and throughout the world. While America can be viewed as setting the bar for women s
rights on a global scale, gender inequity remains part of the fabric of our society. This multi
disciplinary study will concentrate on the identification of the impacts of gender on organizations and
organizational work unit teams, an ever increasingly important dimension in organizations. It is
expected that findings will include increased productivity of heterogeneous teams across disciplines.

Survey. The 10472 zip code is located in the Soundview section of the South Bronx. This zip code
covers the northern area of Soundview, before the Bruckner Expressway. It is part of New York s 15th
congressional district, it s known for being the smallest and poorest congressional district in the US.
The 15th congressional district makes up for the majority of the Bronx, for this reason some of the
information presented will be compared to the Bronx borough and 15th congressional district census
data.
The demographics of Soundview residents has changed over the course of its existence, a trend that
occurs for New York City neighborhoods. The Bronx River is at the eastern borders of Soundview,
making a great settlement for its first dweller. The natives of the area were the Siwanoy tribe, they
were settled along bodies of water near New York City (Jackson, 1995). Therefore, the tribe settled
near the Bronx River up until the area became a point of interest for Dutch and English colonization
(Jackson, 1995). There was a constant struggle for the area, and the tensions led to the Siwanoy leave
the area. It might be one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In figure 4, it depicts the educational attainments for those over 25 and living in the 10472 zip code.
Most people have an educational attainment of a high school graduate level or below, which could be
an important for the high levels of poverty in the area. The data between the congressional district 15
and zip code 10472 are almost similar but again the area has a low rate. The Bronx borough has a
18.3% population with a Bachelor s degree or higher, while there is only 11.7% for zip code 10472. It
is a relatively small amount considering the large amount of young people living there, reported in

Persuasive Essay On Hunting
The first time I went hunting with my brothers
Some people think spending the day in the woods is relaxing and peaceful. I used to think that too
until I went turkey hunting. With my brothers it was frustrating, hard, and aggravating all at the same
time because of the mistakes you ll make it s a life changing experience. It ll get your blood pumping
and your heart racing you ll end up wanting to go turkey hunting more often then you think. You
might think it s a little insane to wake up at 4:30 AM adventure into the woods and get bit by bugs and
get dirty. But it s what you have to do if you want to hunt you ll need to get there before others do and
before the turkeys wake up you have to find a spot to sit at and wait and call them with a turkey call.
But there is one downfall you is can t shoot till the sun comes up that s kind of a long wait from 4:30
to 6:00 AM. It s worth the wait and excitement of going hunting with my two older brothers yeah, they
pick on me but there my brothers that s what they do. One of their names is James we call him Bubba
and the other one is Tyler and we call him stupid they have a name for me but that s not school
appropriate. And they say that you see crazy things all the time in the woods I never really believed it
till that night. We saw a UFO while we were finding a place to call for turkeys. Bubba looks up and he
says some words that can t be spoken of but at that time we all look up at this bright star moving from

Depression And Alienation In Bartleby The Scrivener
Bartleby the Scrivener
Herman Melville, American author of the short story Bartleby the Scrivener , introduces to the readers
the story of the narrator, an elderly lawyer, who has recently hired another scrivener, a law copyist
copyist or clerk, to his office by the name of Bartleby. The narrator finds Bartleby to be an enigma,
unlike his other three peculiar employees, Turkey, Nippers, and Gingernut, who each have food
derived names. Upon being hired, Bartleby s work ethic is commendable due to the abundant amount
of work he completes from sunrise to sunset. It was only a short time until the dreary work of copying
letters that would never reach their destinations had finally depressed Bartleby and drove him to
slowly refuse his daily duties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The character of Bartleby is a symbolic depiction of how depression can affect a man and his work. In
the story, Bartleby slowly starts to show his depression through his lack of motivation to do his work.
He shows his passive aggressive refusal through the five words I would prefer not to. Melville shows
Bartleby s slow path to death through his refusal to eat food. In an introduction between Mr. Cutlets,
the cook, and Bartleby, Mr. Cutlets invites Bartleby to dinner at the paid request of the narrator and
Bartleby replies to their dismay, I prefer not to dine today... It would disagree with me; I am unused to
dinners, (Melville 61). As shown in his response, his unwillingness to eat and live is what eventually
leads to his death. In present times, some people suffer from depression that can come from their
work, the people around them, or their experiences to the point where it consumes them until they feel
as if their life has no meaning. Their despair can, in some cases, lead to their downfall and to death.
Many people deal with stress and depression, but instead of dwelling on sorrow, people should realize
they are not alone and seek help so they don t end up consumed by depression as seen in the case of
Bartleby. You make good points

Compare And Contrast To Build A Fire And Into The Wild
The Newcomer in the short story To Build a Fire by Jack London and Chris McCandless in the film
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer both embark on an exciting and exhilarating journey through the
Alaskan wilderness. As the two characters progress through their expeditions, Chris McCandless and
The Newcomer exhibit many similar and differing traits. Bravery, determination, and independence
are traits that both The Newcomer and Chris McCandless display throughout their journey; however,
the two main characters differ in kindness, creativity, and intelligence.
Firstly, Chris McCandless and The Newcomer both exhibit determination, bravery, and independence
as the two begin to face obstacles in their journeys across the Alaskan wilderness. Chris ... Show more

Similarly, The Newcomer exhibits a strong sense of determination in his adventures as he continues to
fight for his life after [he breaks] through (71) the ice and begins to freeze to death. Additionally, The
Newcomer is determined to build a second fire despite the snow [falling] without warning upon (73)
the man s first attempt at building a fire to thaw his feet. Apart from determination, Chris McCandless
exhibits bravery throughout his travels as he deliberately places himself in uncomfortable or
dangerous circumstances. For example, Chris chooses to overcome his fear of the ocean, in an act of
bravery, by plunging into the waves. Additionally, Chris continues to demonstrate bravery and
assurance in his self sustainability as he trudges into the rough Alaskan terrain with little else but a
rifle, a journal, a camera, and a large bag of rice. In the same manner, The Newcomer exhibits bravery

Dress Codes Inhibit Clothing
Through the beginning of time since clothing has started being worn to cover our body parts,
standards and trends have developed itself over time by an invisible hand. Thus this created many
perceptions society starts to perceive in different ways regarding how a clothing item is worn.
Whether someone had the final say in what people wore what meant anything, we are not sure of
when and why. But how does a piece of fabric help present what an individual is just by the aesthetics
and how does what we wear affect us as the wearer? Fashion is just perceived as an unimportant
subcategory of the arts and doesn t have much to do with us but it does more than what meets the eye.
It has a lot of impact on the wearer s mindsets, dress codes inhibit ... Show more content on

Many problems have arose over the years that consumers may not be as aware of. First off, plus size
clothing are more expensive than non plus size clothing because manufacturers claim it requires more
fabric to make. Then can they explain why shorts cost the same as jeans if not cheaper and why do t
shirts cost the same as crop tops for women? Another really big issue that is present is how companies
present their advertisements they almost always only use skinny models to wear their clothing. It
creates false ideal body image for consumers because they think they don t look good in the item and
consequently, also causes eating disorders and a lack of confidence by many shoppers. Double
standards are one of the very big issues in fashion we are moving towards a very innovative society
and it is about time we stop seeing fashion as such a feminine thing to be interested in because men
can also be self conscious about what they wear without having to be seen as a homosexual. We also
have to work towards in changing how people perceive others predetermined by the brands they can
afford. Shown in Workman s experiment, the assumptions that people who only wear store brand jeans
are seen less of a tidy person compared to a person in high end brand jeans is not reasonable. Some of

The Psychology Of Human Behavior
Psychology, the study of human behavior, encompasses numerous realms and topics. From human
development to drug abuse, psychologists strive to understand behavior and apply their findings. One
such area that begets curiosity and research is the cognitive process that is memory. Memory is one of
the most precious and crucial components of a person. Experiences shape a personality and create a
person. Memories in the form of a witness s testimony have the power to jail someone for life.
However, are these memories reliable? The biological perspective in psychology is the study of the
brain, genetics, hormones, and neurotransmitters and how these factors influence behavior. With
respect to the biological level of analysis, the three principles that are encouraged are as follows: the
use of animals in research is encouraged, behavior can be innate because it is genetically based, and
there are biological correlates of behavior. When evaluating the reliability of memory, one can take a
biological approach, using the principles to design an experiment that would successfully investigate
the biological correlates of the cognitive process. Martinez and Kesner is an example of such an
experiment. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the role of acetylcholine on memory.
Acetylcholine is one of the seven major neurotransmitters in the body. It is thought to influence
muscle movement and memory as there are several links between a lack of the neurotransmitter and

The Rise Of Heroin
Heroin use and overdose in society today is a raging epidemic and, as a result, is tragically destroying
too many lives at an early age. I know we all want our friends and family to live productive, safe,
healthy and long lives. However, I have personally lost four acquaintances within the past couple of
years due to this drug. My goal is to do everything in my power to persuade everyone to stay as far
away from heroin as possible, to resist the temptation of trying the drug , and to not succumb to the
potential lurking addiction. There are some drug users who believe they will be able to avoid
becoming addicted to this drug, but statistically the odds are not in their favor. The National Institute

of us. Whether you know of someone who is addicted or not, this is a national epidemic that raises
health care costs and taxes to imprison convicted drug dealers and users. This drug is detrimental to
our society. Please join me in taking a stand against heroin. Make the conscientious decision to abstain
from taking the drug. If you, or someone you know, is struggling with drug addiction or is tempted to

How Does Glyphosate Affect Date Palm Trees
Introduction
Asked to research how Round up PowerMax affects date palm trees, these are my findings. I found
that Round up s active ingredient is glyphosate. This led me to search various databases with scientific
studies on glyphosate s effects on date palm trees. Currently there is one similar study on glyphosates
effects on palm trees. Although this study at a glance seems thorough, it does not specifically test the
chemical s effects on date palm trees. Consequently, there are currently no studies on how glyphosate
affects date palm species.
The purpose of this memo is to discourse glyphosate s effects on date palm trees (Phoenix dactylifera).
Each segment of this memo contains exhibits; each exhibit contains specific findings and/or research
on glyphosate s effects on the date palm species.

How Does Gordon Bennett Create An Indigenous Australian...
Good artists copy, great artists steal.
By borrowing key visual features of Colin McCahon s work Victory Over Death II (1970) Gordon
Bennett recontextualises the work in his piece Self Portrait (but I always wanted to be one of the good
guys) (1990) to create an alternative perspective on Indigenous Australian identity. Through
appropriation, Bennett also emphasises
Born in Timaru, New Zealand 1919, Colin McCahon is regarded as one of New Zealand s most
prominent and celebrated artists. He was passionate about art and painting from a young age, and is
accredited with introducing modernism to New Zealand art during the early twentieth century,

He completed a Fine Arts degree at the Queensland College of Art, and was one of the first Aboriginal
artists to become successful in a predominantly white profession. He refused to let his race define his
success and often denied to be recognised as an exceptional artist simply because of his Aboriginality,
even to the point where he rejected offers to display his work in Aboriginal exhibitions. He spoke of
his wishes to avoid banal containment as a professional Aborigine, which both misrepresents me and
denies my upbringing and Scottish/English heritage, as well as his hopes that his daughter would be
able to grow up in a culture where her race would not define her life or success. It was for these
reasons and many more that racial confrontation became a common theme in his works. His work Self
Portrait (but I always wanted to be one of the good guys) an appropriated version of Colin McCahon s
Victory Over Death II reflects his statement that he was often confronted by images of Aborigines
depicted as being violent and volatile growing up. His use of a cowboy and a group of American
Indians in the painting, despite his aboriginal heritage, could be because of his desire to compare the
parallels between the two, and propose the idea that both Aboriginal and American Indians were seen
as the bad guys despite it being obvious that they were the marginalised

happen suddenly or slowly over time. They are also described according to how much hearing has
been lost, which is usually explained as: mild, moderate, severe, or profound. Although mild and

Ordinary People Participate In The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a terrible event that started January 30, 1933 and ended May 8, 1945. It was

awful event happen like bystanders, perpetrators, and people who was influenced by Nazi ideology.
Our big question is How was the Holocaust humanly possible? How can we explain why ordinary
people participated in the mass murder of millions of innocent men, women, and children?
Bystanders were just helping Hitler by getting amused that he makin Jews do things that would get
people s attention. They were bystanders because they watch the Jews getting humiliated in public.
Some Jews were to do awful things like to clean the streets or to do rude things towards other Jewish
people but the germans that was near by were laughing or enjoying their time. This show that Jews are

  • 2. My Overall Team Experiences During The Managing... Outline This is the reflective essay of my overall team experiences during the Managing organisations and people course this trimester. Reflecting upon the past and its experiences will enable me to broaden my communication, ability in solving conflicts and enrich my future expertise. To look back at my group work all this while helped me in gaining the knowledge to face the real world. Frankly saying never did I work in a group or a team before, so it was a different experience altogether. This paper will give me an opportunity to explore through various aspects of my role in our team. My role being a key speaker perfectly suited my personal character. I found this job interesting as matching our personal traits with profession will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast diversity in a group will help the members come up with non identical ideas and views thereby finishing the task with better efficiency (Leonard, Graham, Bonacum, 2004). All the members started feeling important in the team, which therefore overpowered the negatives arising due to the diversity. According to Waller (2004), Gupta (2004) Giambatista (2004), proper communication without any deviations play a key role in boosting the productivity of the overall team. Nixon (2014), Johnson and Wiggs (2011) claimed that effective speaking is key for a good team. Also the research (Wu Xiao, 2011; Peterson, 2012) supports my argument. It says that the individuals in a team should be frank in their approach and should stand by their own arguments until completely convinced by the logic. Hence I tried not to give up on my opinion as Danks (2012, p24) categorized a clear and reasoned thinker and communicator . Clear communication and open expression of views and ideas will build up the cohesiveness of team. This in turn also develops a better understanding which is a must to work together. Later on, the work was delegated within us to improve the self, show courage, persistence and effective determination (DuPont 2013, p.69). Here I should also mention about the challenges and the way we handled them. However improper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. I Have Danced Before But Contra Dancing Essay I have danced before but never contra dancing. I have done two weeks of ballet dancing and also two weeks of Hip Hop dance. Before this contra dance experience, I was expecting six different instructors teaching us how to country dance. I envisioned us all being each other s dance partners and dancing in a barn sort of setting. I was incredibly neutral about the complete experience and didn t genuinely know how to feel. I thought that I would simply go with the flow of how the trip would go. But as soon as we arrived and I see how many people there was I was extremely nervous. Nervous about learning so much with several experienced contra dancers. I was incredibly nervous that one incorrect move could ruin the entire dance. I was also exceptionally excited to be learning something so new since I hadn t even heard of contra dancing before. I was also dreadfully excited to get to know so many unique and experienced dancers. Walking to the building where it was we walked through this playground and the building seemed to be a little inconspicuous so that reinsured my thought that there wouldn t be many people. There was also an awfully small parking lot that would fit about seven cars. When I arrived in this space I realize how enormous it was and questioned myself Are we really going to need all of this space? As people started to arrive I was able to see all the different types of attire that people would wear to contra dance. I also got to see how many people were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Child Labor Rights Mother Jones, Cesar Chavez, and Malala Yousafzai all fought for the rights that they believed in. They all were leaders part of a big picture. Although these three individuals used different methods to get their point across, they all had courage to speak out about injustice and improve human rights. Mother Jones was a lady who stood up for all of the children who were mistreated because of child labor. When trying to get her point out, Mother Jones went to newspapers for public articles on what was happening to these working children. Unfortunately, the factories owned the newspapers so they wouldn t publish her position on the subject, so she made her own form of publicity by forming a march of children and parents. (Josephson). She was an activist for the abolishment of child labor. Mother Jones had a lot of courage to speak out even though not a lot of people listened. After publicly marching to Sagamore Hills, Judith Pinkerton Josephson states, Within a few years, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and other states did pass tougher child labor laws. The federal government finally passed a child labor law (part of the Fair Labor Standards Act) in 1938 thirty five years after the march of the mill children. Mother Jones was persistent on getting her message out in public because so many people were clueless on what was happening to the children. She would most definitely say that defending all human rights is a necessity because even though this particular issue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sacrifices In Athens Somewhere around the 5th century before Christ the city of Athens was stricken with a mysterious plague, all efforts failed to stop the plague, the leaders of Athens thinking that some god had been offended so they sought for a way to appease the offended god, however this was not a easy task as Athens was know as the god capital of the world . Having made two visits to that city I can attest to the fact that it lives up to its name. Sacrifices was made in all sorts of ways, yet the plague never ceased to destroy its people. The city fathers decided to call on a seer and philosopher poet named Epimenides. • 6. Altruism Over Incentives For Organ Donation Essay Altruism Over Incentives for Organ Donation Over the years, organ donation challenges and demands increased inversely in proportion to the organ shortages. The primary mission of donor s organizations is to save as many terminally ill recipients at the end stages of their lives as possible with an end goal of giving these recipients a normal a life span. The significance of organ donation is to restore an ailing person s quality of life. The ongoing issue of organ shortages may be a symptom of the current program that present an idealistic portrait of how these issues may be resolved. As a result, the mission and ultimate goal of organizations such as UNOS and Donate Life America, among others, is to obtain viable organs for their patients and to promote; education, empower altruism and establish quality ethics, and act as a resource for existing and potential donors. Organ donations can be controversial in the minds of potential organ donors due to inhumane activity, dehumanizing processes, or even the circulation of illegal revenue. Conceptual changes need to be made consistent with altruism in order to produce the desired outcome of increasing the availability of desperately needed organs and tissues. Groups such as the mentioned above can act as a resource and clearinghouse mainly focusing on patient s needs. • 9. The Problem Of The Water Crisis To address something as complex as the water crisis, one must first examine the current condition of the problem. Currently, the water crisis is being driven by three things. First, many governments in Africa are not interested in investing in nationwide plumbing. That is either because they are not able to afford the cost of laying the info structure or they can afford it but feel no need to invest that much. Even if a country can afford to install plumbing, generally, plumbing is only installed in urban areas and has little to no effect on those living in rural Africa. Second, many large companies buy out water rights and use them to dump toxic chemicals with no oversight. The result is that there is less water considered drinkable. Furthermore, this can ruin long time water sources for people that may be nowhere near the business. Third, some companies who buy out water rights sell the water back to the people. Often times, they charge outrageous prices that the majority of citizens cannot afford. As a result, previously free water is now double the average income per day. In an effort to address the problem, a lot of nonprofits have formed for the express purpose of helping increase water accessibility. To do this, almost all of these companies dig wells. Unskilled groups use dug wells or driven wells which are subject to contamination and ineffective during a drought. More skilled groups use drilled wells which are less subject to contamination and work in all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This question has been central to comparative political economy for many years. However, most answers to it focus on institutions in a single sphere of the political economy. In economics, there are large but separate literatures on labor and financial markets. One explores the impact of labor regulations, social regimes, and trade unions on growth or unemployment (Nickell 1997; OECD 1994; Calmfors/ Driffil 1988). The other considers the effects of accounting standards, the legal standing of owners or creditors, ownership patterns, and equity or bank based finance on levels of investment or growth (Carlin/Mayer 1999a, 1999b; LaPorta et al. 1998a; Huang/Xu 1999; Mayer 1996). A similar separation is evident in political science. Although neocorporatism can be defined in broad terms (cf. Katzenstein 1985; Schmitter/Lehmbruch 1978), analyses of its economic impact usually focus on the organization of the trade union movement, considering its interaction mainly with the partisanship of governance (Cameron 1984; Alvarez et al. 1991; Garrett 1999).1 An entirely different literature examines the structure of financial systems (Verdier 2000; Cox 1986; Zysman 1984).2 However, there are good reasons to expect interaction effects among institutions across spheres of the political economy. In recent years, significant interaction effects have been found between monetary institutions and those governing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Football Symbolism Essay With more than a billion watchers yearly, football is the biggest spectator sport on the planet. The popularity of football is based on the competitive nature of the game and the idea of being a fan. In addition to cheering for their team, fans inside or outside the stadium have a great deal to express. Football is seen by many as a stage to express their national personality, political association, ethnic pride, and religious belongings. This gives Football numerous qualities that make it something beyond a game to many. The symbolism of football clubs, players, and colors can mean for the fans a close feeling of having a place and personality. Also they are crystallized by the economic, social and political settings that surround communities associated with Football. Football all over the world depends on the masses, for its huge popularity. It is considered to be the game of the crowds. Football is a game of 12th side (11 players and the fans), which shows the important role of the football fans. Through football it is quite easy to grab the perception of identity in its ethnic, religious, and national borders. Archetti (1999) describes Football as a game that captures the notion of an imagined community perfectly. He suggests that when players are representing a nation, it is much easier to imagine the nation and confirm to the national identity. Football is seen as a game in which each team works as much as they can to occupy the territory of the other team by getting the ball into the goal. This makes the game announce a winner and a loser, not only inside the stadium. As football depends on the masses it becomes a stage for political activity. In the case of the ultras which they rely mainly on the jobless youth, in this sense it shows the collective identity and class struggle. Therefore the ability to channel and influence the ultras is appealing to the governing elite. Accordingly the political governments sent messages through using the fandom of football. For example Mubarak meant to associate his name through the national football team by attending matches in the stadium especially the final match of Africa cup of nations in 2006. In this way the NDP (National Democratic Party) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sustainable Solutions Paper wk 7 draft Sustainable Solutions at Dell Joy Carter DBA Strategy Dr. Denise Land March 2010 Sustainable Solutions and Dell Computers In this tech driven world, computers, and electronics are the common denominators. Millions of people use computers and electronic devices multiple times every day. Between innovation and use, the need to replace these devices is paramount and creates a solid market for certain electronic manufacturers. One of the biggest environmental concerns is toxic waste and plastics in landfills. In the last portion of the paper, various complexity analysis tools are examined in relation to Dell and the computer/technology industry. The industry was examined in terms for the Fitness Landscape, Boid Analysis, Industry Evolution Modeling, and Life Cycle Analysis. Examining Dell in the context of multiple frameworks granted insights into key factors such as material inputs, resource depletion, byproducts, waste and disposal options and stakeholder versus societal obligations and responsibilities. An analysis of the Sustainable Value Framework, including a detailed analysis of the sustainable value of Dell and its products and services rounds out the research. Key Take aways One critical factor repeatedly presented itself throughout this research project and that is the absolute necessity for Dell to find a way to innovate in a sustainable manner. Having Chairman Michael Dell at the helm again is beneficial to the growth and cohesive vision of the firm, but Dell is losing ground to rivals such as HP in the areas of technological advances and sales. Another key take away is that Dell leaders must invest in the training and re educating of employees and invest in the research and development of products in collaboration with the firm s key suppliers in its network. • 13. The Adventrue of Hucleberry Fin by Mark Twain The classic novel Huckleberry Fin, by Mark Twain, has been debated of being appropriate or not due to the racist content within. Many disagree with Mark Twain s use of derogatory terms and phrases such as the word Nigger in his book. IT seems unlikely that anyone, of any color, who had actually read Huckleberry Fin...could accuse of it being racist (Kaplan 20). Huckleberry Fin uses necessary racism in order to show the culture and attributes of the time period as well as to portray Twains message of promoting equality and that they are not morally better if they are one race over another. What is now seen as racism was simply the culture and attributes during the time setting of the novel (Toltzman 1). Huck Fin was written when cruel and unjust treatments of blacks were common and use of derogatory words didn t get much attention. Huck Finn is during a time when blacks were not treated or thought as people but as objects without personalities or emotions. For instance, Jim is initially only knows to whose property he is. He was considered Miss Watson property that was about to be sold, which resulted in him running away. The racist attitudes of the South are were most obvious in the character of Huck Finn himself, and how he relates to the runaway slave, Jim. He plays tricks on Jim and uses dialogue that makes him appear foolish or perhaps to make Jim painfully aware of his own belittlement. During their entire journey Huck and Jim become closer. Of the 15 people that Lane interviewed, all of them were white, male, and married fathers. Eleven out of the fifteen were Catholic and 11 were either Italian or Irish (Western Political Quarterly). The Impact Of Gender On Organizational Work Unit Teams The Impacts of Gender on Organizational Work Unit Teams Nada Nafissa Morgan State University The influence of women in society has undergone a paradigm shift in America over the last century. Indeed, women have gone from being solely relegated to the roles of mother and housewife to legislators and CEOs, from not having the basic right to vote to being elected officials, Supreme Court Justices and frontrunners for the office of President of the United States. But while the power of women in society has grown exponentially during this time, American society remains largely bureaucratic and male dominated in many ways. Gender differences remain part of the American landscape, and throughout the world. While America can be viewed as setting the bar for women s rights on a global scale, gender inequity remains part of the fabric of our society. This multi disciplinary study will concentrate on the identification of the impacts of gender on organizations and organizational work unit teams, an ever increasingly important dimension in organizations. It is expected that findings will include increased productivity of heterogeneous teams across disciplines. From human development to drug abuse, psychologists strive to understand behavior and apply their findings. One such area that begets curiosity and research is the cognitive process that is memory. Memory is one of the most precious and crucial components of a person. Experiences shape a personality and create a person. Memories in the form of a witness s testimony have the power to jail someone for life. However, are these memories reliable? The biological perspective in psychology is the study of the brain, genetics, hormones, and neurotransmitters and how these factors influence behavior. With respect to the biological level of analysis, the three principles that are encouraged are as follows: the use of animals in research is encouraged, behavior can be innate because it is genetically based, and there are biological correlates of behavior. When evaluating the reliability of memory, one can take a biological approach, using the principles to design an experiment that would successfully investigate the biological correlates of the cognitive process. Martinez and Kesner is an example of such an experiment. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the role of acetylcholine on memory.
