Knights And Samurai Differences
Let s say you are a squire watching your knight who trains you fight a samurai because of
invasion. You look at a distance and question yourself, Are they more similar than they are different?
You look at all of their attributes to compare them both. You see more similarities than
differences. They are most similar than different. The first similarity is in the social class. In document
a you see that both triangles do look similar to each other. The samurai were in a high social class but
not the best. The samurai is in between the peasants and the daimyo. To compare similary, the knights
were also in the same position.Their position was between the lesser lord and artisans which is similar
to the samurai. To add on,in document c it states in the

Application of Six Sigma in Supply Chain Management
Application of Six Sigma in Supply Chain Management
Anoop P. S.
Abstract: This paper hypothesises that, whilst Six Sigma as a change and improvement strategy is
delivering significant business benefit to practitioner organisations, it has not been successfully
adapted to deliver similar benefits across supply chains. It demonstrates by reference to the literature
that most published applications of Six Sigma in supply chains are related to the application of
traditional internal Six Sigma methodologies to the internal processes of a supplier to the Six Sigma
Organisation . In this paper, the issues particular to an application of Six Sigma in a broader supply
chain context are discussed, with reference to specific supply chain ... Show more content on

Drug wholesale McKesson, for example, has used Six Sigma to improve a variety of supply chain
processes, such as inbound trailer cycle times and pick face replenishment efficiency.
2.1 Adding Value With SCOR
Developed by the not for profit Supply Chain Council, SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference) is
a model that links process elements, metrics, best practices and features associated with supply chain
execution. It helps to identify and quantify critical opportunities for improvements not only within the
supply chains of a single company but also between multiple trading partners. It describes a
continuum of processes: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver and Return. SCOR works best with companies
that have an enterprise information platform that can carefully track this continuum through KPIs and
scorecards or at least provide the data so that a qualified enterprise platform can acquire the data,
analyze it and surface it to the people who need to see it.
Although rooted in the supply chain realm, SCOR adherents see a role for the methodology as the
gatekeeper identifying the projects most likely to render ROI using SCOR, Lean or Six Sigma. There
is already a natural link between Lean and Six Sigma at the program and project execution level. Six
Sigma has the project tracking and financial accountability elements. Lean helps surface the rocks that
become ideal targets for Six Sigma. The two combined provide a powerful results driven

Catalyst For Change Essay
Catalyst for Change
A catalyst is someone or something that causes activity between
two or more persons. Teachers who are visionaries are never
content with the status quo but rather always looking for a better way
(Larner , 2004, p. 32). Catalyst for Change teachers are continually
looking for ways to improve their teaching, are problem solving ways to
implement a new curriculum learned at a recent conference or break
out session and always having a growth mindset. These visionary
teachers are fulfilling the Catalyst for Change role. They continue to be
agents to pave the way for growth in education.
All schools need leaders who are looking for ways to improve

They can make things happen by turning
thoughts into action and are an energy source for co workers. Co
workers feel they are easy to get along with, are flexible with ideas
and can organize for maximum productivity. Catalysts for change
must work with colleagues and school leaders to overcome obstacles
that get in the way of reaching their goals.
Implementing new ideas does not always set well with all staff.
Risks and challenges may face these teachers with placing blame on
the motivator. They must take control of the situation and make
decisions that do not cause more playing of the blame game. They
must always show others the big picture and help them to see the
purpose. Treating all people, the same and helping them make the
decisions, will make the process run more smooth.
Teacher leaders can be catalysts for change feeling secure in
their own work and have commitment to continual improvement.
This type of educator or administrator inspires others to follow
their lead as they strive for excellence. They are role models for the
problem solving and risk taking business. They are paving the way
for growth and excellence in an ever changing world of

Christina Rossetti Research Paper
Better by far you should forget and smile than that you should remember and be sad. quoted by one of
the famous poets, Christina Rossetti. 187 years ago the famous poet, sister, a daughter was born and
her poems are still popular today. Christina s life was a roller coaster. She was mentally challenged
and emotionally challenged at parts in her life but, she always found a way out of it. Not only was she
inspired by her family but, she inspires other people in this world. Christina wrote poems of life and
religion, she cared for her family and was very religious, and she wrote, Remember, an emotional

U.s. History Honors Summer Reading
U.S. History Honors Summer Reading 1. According to Ellis s preface, explain what is so phenomenal
about the founding of the United States? According to Ellis it is phenomenal that the United States
decided to rule as a Republic. Never before in history has a new empire or country ruled as a Republic
and succeeded except for the Roman Empire. Also the colonies had no strict adhesive keeping them
together as a nation, but they still managed to survive. 2. Analyze what the author calls the paradox of
the revolutionary era. The Paradox of the revolutionary era was a dilemma that can be viewed as near
sighted and far sighted . These were the two different ways of justifying becoming an independent
nation. The people who were more far sighted could see the many possibilities the nation held in the
future and let this influence their actions in attempt to create a completely independent and free nation.
However, the near sighted way was mostly arguing against the authority of Parliament; they were
against centralized political powers ruling other areas from faraway places that weren t under its
immediate supervision. 3. Examine some of the criticisms of the Constitutional Convention. Some of
the criticisms of the constitutional convention were that, firstly, the Convention went beyond its
purpose, to revise the Articles of Confederation, and instead replaced it with an entirely new
government. Secondly, that the sessions were held in complete secrecy. This is untrue

occurs when pigment producing cells die or stop functioning. It can affect any part of the body. It is
mostly found in ages 14 and up. 13 and younger are very less likely to have vitiligo. When the
pigment producing cells die, there aren t any more to make more. When you lose them, they are gone

There is no way to know if the vitiligo will spread. On some people it spreads throughout their body,
while it s only on one spot on others. While Vitiligo is not life threatening, it is still important to
develop coping strategies in life. It will appear on 1 segment of the body, such as a leg, face or arm.
About half of people lose some hair color, such as on the head, an eyelash or an eyebrow. Non
segmental vitiligo is the most common type of vitiligo. Appears on both sides of the body, such as
both hands or knees. Often begins on hands, fingertips, wrists, around the eyes or mouth, or on the
feet. Often begins with rapid loss of skin color, which then stops for a while. Color loss often starts up
later. This start and stop cycle usually continues throughout a person s lifetime. Color loss tends to
expand, growing more noticeable and covering a larger area. The subtype tells you how much vitiligo
appears on the body. The vitiligo subtypes are: localized, generalized, and

The Purpose Of Baseball Cleats
Men of any age may need to select the kind of baseball cleats they need. The selection for mens
baseball cleats is plentiful because of the various styles and colors that are available. Prior to
purchasing any cleats it would be important to weigh several important factors.
First and foremost, a person will need to read the rules and regulations of whatever league they are
playing in to get an understanding of whether cleats are regulated. There are many leagues that do not
allow players to wear metal cleats, so if someone is playing in a league that has a rule like that they
will not be able to play if they are wearing metal cleats. After reading the rules make a choice between

The Great White Sharks Of South Africa
Getting to Know the Great White Sharks in South Africa
When I was a child, I would always watch Steve Irwin on television. Steve Irwin inspired me to want
to work in a biological field the way he did. A few years later, I saw Shark Week on the Discovery
Channel for the first time and from that point on, I knew that I wanted to research sharks. From there,
I became familiar with all the work that OCEARCH has done regarding great whites that are in South
African waters and the great whites that frequent Cape Cod waters in the summer ( About OCEARCH
). As I work towards my degree in Marine Biology, I would love the opportunity to have hands on
experience. Researching sharks is something that I find to be very important, which I know
OCEARCH does as well. I would like to apply for your OCEARCH Great White Shark grant to travel
to the coast of South Africa so that I may research the great white sharks in the surrounding waters. I
believe that I would qualify for OCEARCH s grant because I understand the importance of studying
great white sharks, I have done my research on the travel that I need to go to South Africa, and lastly
the science community would benefit from my work. There is a need for shark research to be done
worldwide ( Science ). Even though South Africa is a popular spot for ecotourism, tourism to areas of
ecological interest (typically exotic and often threatened natural environments), especially to support
conservation efforts and observe wildlife, there is

Technological Innovations In World War One
War, whether intentional or not, surrounds us and has done for many centuries. The four years of the
First World War saw combat on a scale that had never been experienced before the conflict was global,
it affected countless millions and, due to rapid technological advances on all sides, the nature of
combat changed significantly. The final days of swords and cavalry charges gave way to the routine
use of machine guns and tanks a new technological era had been heralded, an era we still live in today.
In World War One (WW1), technological innovations were primarily aimed at ending the stalemate
and aiding the allied victory. War demands the development of new methods of destruction and with
that an increase in technology. WW1 saw the innovation

Continuities In The Commerce Of The Indian Ocean
From 650 CE to 1750 CE, there were many changes and continuities in the commerce of the Indian
Ocean region. One major continuity in the commerce of the Indian Ocean was the emergence and use
of the same trade routes for both imports and exports of goods such as gold and ivory. One major
change was how the commerce of the Indian Ocean prospered economically. The commerce of the
Indian Ocean developed rapidly, and the trade incorporated places such as East Africa, the Persian
Gulf, Red Sea and India. Another major change was the increased involvement of the Europeans in the
Indian Ocean commerce shortly after discovering it.
One major continuity in the commerce of the Indian Ocean was the continued use of the same trade
routes and ports in the Indian Ocean for imports and exports. Trading ports in East Africa served as a
method of transporting goods from Africa. The goods being traded was another continuity. Gold,
ivory, and iron were constantly being exported from Africa due to their profitable values. These items
could be sold at a profit because they were scarce in Asian countries. Another continuity was the
tradition in the use of monsoon winds to help travel. The Indian Ocean trade was made easier by the
monsoon winds that circulated between Asia and the Eastern coast which reduced travel times, and
produced favorable wind currents.
However, there were also many changes in the commerce of the Indian Ocean. The commerce of the
Indian Ocean changed the eastern coast of

The Influence In Olaudah Equiano s Life
Olaudah Equiano led a remarkable life. He influenced and affected so many people in his time and
ours. He was such a great writer, and was able to make his stories really touch people. He experienced
so much in his life. He made a huge impact and many contributions to the topic of slavery. He was
also very inspirational, because of how he went from nothing to being so successful. Olaudah Equiano
was overall such an important figure in history, and went through so much in his childhood, slave life,
life after slavery, and his career that shaped who he became.
To begin with, the only time Olaudah Equiano experienced a normal or simple life was in his early
years as a child. He was born around 1750 in Nigeria, Africa. He was the son of an Ibo chief, which
was a Nigerian tribe of Africans. He was the youngest of seven children in his family. When he was a
child he was able to experience a close community. He said Our land is uncommonly rich and fruitful,
and we are almost a nation of dancers, and musicians. (Equiano 32) At age eleven, he was captured

He also became very successful. He wrote an autobiography called The Interesting Narrative of the
Life of Olaudah Equiano , which helped create the slave narrative genre. He became an abolitionist,
and began defending slavery and shining a light to the issues of it. He became involved in a group
called Sons of Africa , which was a group of black men campaigning for abolition. Authors like
Defoe, Rowlandson, and Franklin were very influenced by Olaudah Equiano. He opposed slavery
primarily on religious grounds. According to him slave trade was contrary to individual human dignity
and the word of God. He brought a whole new understanding to slavery, because he lived through it
and gave all of the ugly truths. Without the information and writings of Olaudah Equiano, the topics of
slavery may not be the

Identifying Elements
Identifying Elements There are many ways to identify unknown elements, such as the methods used in
this lab like density, conductivity and reactivity. However, there are many different types, one of
which is mass spectrometry and another is x ray spectroscopy. Mass spectrometry is a way to measure
relative masses of isotopes and their abundance. This is used to identify an element because an
element s isotopes will have abundances different from any other element, as well as a completely
different set of masses. These results are determined using a mass spectrometer that can separate
ionized charge, weigh it and figure out how much of the isotope was in the sample. The element that is
going to be analyzed must be vaporized in a gas in order for the MS to scan it. The element is then put

Characteristic X ray spectroscopy is similar to any other spectroscopy in that is excites electrons and
then measurable energy is released and measured qualitatively and compared to well known facts and
quantitative data is derived. X rays can be excited by high energy beams made up of electrons, protons
or even other x rays. These beams are shot at the core of an atom and an inner electron excites and
moves to an outer shell. When it calms back down it releases energy. This type of spectroscopy can be
used to analyze and identify all elements on the periodic table except for hydrogen, helium and
lithium. Under characteristic X ray spectroscopy, there are two types: energy dispersive and
wavelength dispersive. In energy dispersive x ray spectroscopy, a semiconductor detector measures
the energy of incoming protons while in wavelength dispersive x ray spectroscopy a single crystal
diffracts the protons and then the crystal is moved so that all emissions are visible. Once again a graph
is made that is specific to an individual element and the element can be identified by the

How Skateboards Invented
So this is my topic and this is my research for how skateboards have advanced through my words
1950s This was the earliest known advent of what we would recognize as traditional skateboarding,
beginning in California, where surfers invented a plank on wheels to simulate surfing on land.
According to Wikipedia, the first skateboards were originally manufactured for surfers to use when
they weren t in the water. Crafted out of square wooden boards with a set of skate wheels from roller
skates, Wikipedia notes that skateboarding was originally denoted sidewalk surfing and early skaters
emulated surfing style and maneuvers, and performed barefoot. 1970s It took a new type of wheel to
bring skateboarding back into the spotlight. With the invention

Light Synthesis
Light is electromagnetic radiation, energy shown as a wave or a particle, that can be visually perceived
as radiant energy.1 Light is measured by the wavelength and frequency. A wavelength is the distance
from any point on one wave to the same point on the next wave and shown by lambda, λ.2 The
different types of light begins with gamma rays and proceed to radio waves when increasing
wavelengths are compared. Frequency is the number of crests per second and is expressed in hertz and
shown as v. The pattern associated with light is indirectly related to the wavelength. The variability of
light starting with gamma rays and ending with radio waves is connected by decreasing frequency.
Frequency is independent of the wavelength and are both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Red #40 was mixed with 10 mL of DI water, the solvent. The volume of stock solution needed to
prepare these solutions are shown in the second column of Table 3. After obtaining the appropriate
micropipettor, 200 uL, it was used to measure the aliquot of the stock solution. This solution was
transferred into a volumetric flask and diluted with the 10 mL of DI water. DI water was used as the
blank and the solutions were then placed inside the cuvettes which were then placed into the Vernier
pH spec trophotometer. The absorbance and λmax of each solution were then recorded as seen in the
third column of Table 2. These values were then plotted on a linear regression as seen in Figure 1.
Next, 0.50 mL of maraschino cherry juice was obtained by using the appropriate micropipet tor, 100
uL, of the aliquot of the stock solution. This was transferred into a volumetric flask and diluted with
nanopure water until the solution reached 25 mL. Nanopure water was used as the blank and the
solution was then placed in a cuvette which was then measured inside the Vernier pH

Wage Discrimination Among Actors And Actresses
Since before women earned the right to vote, there has always been a demand for men and women to
work as an actor in the film industry. Their ability to captivate, move, and inspire earned them
recognition as movie stars. This rich history of stars, ranging from Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton
to Mary Pickford and Julia Roberts has seemingly been gender neutral. However, the question of wage
discrimination among actors and actresses is often not a point of discussion. Perhaps this is because

In addition, there seems to be a huge discrepancy between how actors and actresses fair at the box
office. This is reinforced when looking at the average box office figures. Ten actors have averaged
figures over $100 million while only two actresses managed to reach that milestone. If an actors and
actresses are paid based upon their box office power, it would seem that actors are better at selling
movie tickets relative to actresses. However, these figures might be a result of the types of roles
offered to men and women.
In order to examine gender discriminatory pay practices in Hollywood, there needs to be a comparison
between men and women performing the same exact job. In cinema, it could be the case that actors
and actresses are simply not working in exactly the same industry. Since they are not playing the same
character, and the fact that film offers different genres by which actors and actresses are defined
within, the pay difference may be due to the variation between roles. An action star generally gets paid
more relative to a melodramatic role, and throughout the history of Hollywood, men usually occupy
the role of big action star. Men like John Wayne, Tom Cruise, Cary Grant, Humphry Bogart, James
Cagney, and Arnold Schwarzenegger receive salary benefits because they are generational icons,
starring in big budget, high grossing films. There are certainly examples of female action stars, like

Sociology Worldviews
A worldview is a philosophy and outlook of the world around us typically held by a group or members
of society (Funk, 2001). Worldviews and society around us significantly impact the way we view and
think about culture and education. The Milne (2013) quote discusses the idea that when children are
young they do not have these views on culture and other s beliefs. Children at a young age, have not
been exposed to views of others, and therefore are oblivious and innocent to the worldviews and race
issues. It does not matter to young children, as they don t care where they put the colours (Milne,
2013, p. 6). These children do not have the stereotypes that society has created to form an opinion

Normalisation is very prevalent within our society (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, 2003). This
normalisation is created by society through views of others and takes on a position of what is normal
and what is abnormal in society (Mika, 2017). The dominant group within society is typically
considered to be normal , while those outside of the dominant group classifications, are considered
different and abnormal. This causes people from outside of the dominant group to aspire to be part of
this normal group, as they consider this to be of more benefit than to be placed within the diverse
category. Therefore, aspiring to climb higher within the social ladder that has been created through
society expectations of normalisation (Theodorou, 2011). When discussing diversity, often it is in
relation to how different it is from the normal, typically white background (Milne, 2013). This means
that it is causing the other groups to be put in boxes according to how different their culture and
beliefs are from the normal, as opposed to recognising unique cultures as something to be valued. Due
to normalisation s pervasive nature it tends to have a significant influence in many domains of society,

An Ethical Will Over a Monetary or Property Will
In todays world an Ethical Will seems almost foreign to many people. A monetary or property Will is a
type of Will that people are most familiar with. This deals with ones property being distributed to a
younger generation upon or near death.2 The encyclopedia Judaica defines a Will as a, person s
disposition of his property in favor of another in such manner that the testator retains the property or
his rights to it until his death. 5(page65) Some may be unaware that there are different types of
monetary Wills. The first is called a Mattenat Bari, which means, gift by a healthy person. 5 (page 65)
The second type is called a Mattenat Shekhiv, a gift by a person critically ill. 5 (pg65) The last type is

The Will would normally speak of following Jewish laws and Jewish ideals. The Ten Commandments
are sometimes stressed on their own since they are important for Jewish law. Jewish Ethical Wills
preach to protect the Torah, and keep the land of Israel safe. Also a Jewish Ethical Will usually says
one should be a responsible Jewish person who is charitable, respectful, hardworking, and continues to
study Judaism. 7
Ethical Wills are such an important piece in Judaism that they appear in the Talmud and Bible a
numerous amount of times. The first recorded Ethical Will is in chapter 49 of Genesis in the Bible.
This Will was about Jacob speaking to his kids before his death. After blessing each child, he spoke of
the missions and destinies of each child. He based what he said on the skills and talents that each child
possessed. Everything Jacob said wasn t easy to hear but he said what he wanted his kids to know. It is
actually said that Jacob was the first to get sick before dying giving him a chance to say his last words
to loved ones. Jacob actually prayed that people would become sick like he did so they could have this
opportunity since most people were healthy until the day they died in this time period. Jacob wanted
people to have the chance to give their children an Ethical Will.9
In chapters 33 and 34 of Deuteronomy, another Ethical Will is written about Moses. Before Moses

Quentin Tarantino Essay
Quentin Tarantino Blood, gore, and a lot of language; you will find this is most Quentin Tarantino

fantastic screenplay writer, but he also pushes the limit of intense plots of drama, and mostly violence.
As a great director, who changes the world of filmmaking, Quentin Tarantino is one of the most
unique directors/writers, today. Born March 27, 1963, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Quentin Jerome

This is an amazing achievement, and it is astonishing, with his lack of education. The movies that
Tarantino makes are not just violent, but have a great storyline, which he writes. His most famous
movies include: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill Vol. 1 2, and the
newest one, Inglourious Basterds (IMDb). Other, less famous ones are: Jackie Brown and Grindhouse
(a double feature consisting of Planet Terror, and Death Proof) (IMDb). To this day, people still talk
about how great of a movie Pulp Fiction is. These movies are well known for their graphic violence,
and sometimes profanity. Most violence in Tarantino s movies is of shootings, but not in all cases. In
Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction the violence consists of graphic, detailed, hard to watch gun scenes.
These are exceptionally gory, and are usually on screen. In his Kill Bill series, it is mostly death by
sword, the weapon of choice for the main character. Inglourious Basterds is a whole different ball
field. No pun intended, since a man is beaten to death with a baseball bat in this particular movie. The
deaths vary from graphic shootings, with lots of blood splatter, to carving swastikas into men s heads,
to shooting an already dead man s face apart in explicit, extremely life like detail. The twisted mind of
Quentin Tarantino allows him to write, direct, and watch these scenes with no sort of cringe, but

A Research Assignment For Mcdonald s S
Research assignment for McDonald s
Introduction
Why we chose McDonald s
Out of three major business enterprises, the best info that we found was on McDonald s. For that
reason, we decided to focus on McDonald s for this assignment. We did some preliminary research
and came up with some main issues that are pertinent to this business enterprise.
Main issues pertinent to McDonald s
Mc Spotlight (2015) had launched a campaign asking what is wrong with McDonald s. Four of the
main issues stated by the campaign were the promotion of unhealthy food, the exploitation of workers,
an outbreak of food poisoning, the environmental damage done by the business enterprise, and many
more.
Promotion of unhealthy food
It is said that the food at McDonald s is promoted as being nutritious, however what is really being
served by McDonald s is junk food foods exceedingly high in sugar, fat and salt, and reasonably low
in fibre and vitamins.
Food Safety
The quality of McDonald s food has often criticized. Being high in sugar, salt and fat, the food is far
from healthy. The business has tried to address this issue by adding healthier food options such as
salads and yogurt to the menu. However, a recent scandal in China, were there are reports of expired
and condemned meat being used and severed to customers has severely tarnished the company s
already poor reputation (The Economist 2015). This event also saw a massive drop in Sales in Asia as
customers reacted to the scandal (Jones

How Far Do You Agree That Hitler’s Regime Was a ‘Consensus...
How far do you agree that Hitler s Regime was a consensus dictatorship ? A consensus dictatorship is
on that suggests Hitler s regime was surrounded by a general agreement. This would mean that the
majority of the German public were in cooperation with the Nazi regime and agreed with both the
enforced and promoted concept of the regime. Hitler had mainly achieved this by trying to win over
the hearts and minds of all non Jewish Germans this would mean he would have the majority of the
Germans citizens on his side. However, it is also suggested that many of the people had only
consented due to fear which can be inferred from source 5 that it was the methods of the Nazi
apparatus of terror that had led to the people conforming. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The public voluntarily had given in the names of Jews to the Nazis due to jealousy and terror imposed
on them by the Nazi s which suggests that the terror apparatus used on civilians was effective and the
public were forced to conform to the dictatorship but overall most people acted towards their own
benefit and the countless denunciations which included false accusations indicate that the regime was
a consensus dictatorship. On the other hand, the opposition faced by the Nazi regime is evidence that
the Nazi Regime was not a consented one. In Source 5 it mentions the political opponents being
detained in the concentration camps but even with this sort of mass terror of demolishing the left there
was signs of opposition against the regime. The fact that there were low level resistance jokes around
shows the Nazis were unpopular. People were trying to pick holes in the system rather than just accept
it. People were trying to spread the word. This also indicated the fear people had of Hitler and it was
this fear that forced the people to conform. The Church although having an agreement with Hitler
called the concordat had stood against the regime a number of times. For example, Bishop von Galen
of Munster had stood against the euthanasia programmes. There was also opposition from the youth,
an example the swing kids, they expressed their individuality by wearing their hair long and listened
to jazz. But most opposition and resistance was only involved

School buildings are targets just like another other buildings, so why don t they have shelters in them?
Some things are being done about this issue as we speak, but some of the ideas are falling through.
The KOCO news website tells us that a non profit organization called Shelter Oklahoma Schools is
giving the schools, which took a direct hit on May 20th, money to build shelters. The Moore School
District will receive the biggest amount at $500,000 and the Western Heights, Calumet, and
Drummond school districts will each receive $100,000. This is a great way to start, but we still aren t
getting help for the other schools. According to Sam Higgins, writer of the article Storm Shelter
Petition Fell through for Oklahoma Schools, a campaign called Take Shelter Oklahoma is trying to
collect enough signatures to be able to place a $500 million bond, paid by the current franchise tax on
the ballot, to fund shelters in schools. The petition is being run by Oklahoma Representative Joe
Dorman, but is stilling coming up short on signatures. If this petition doesn t receive 85,000 more
signatures by December 18 of this year it will fall through and we will have to start all over. The
current nature of this issue is that the problem is not solved completely. This issue is very important.
There are lives at stake here and if we cannot get shelters in schools then many more lives will be
taken. The tornado that happened in the month of May is a great way to

Character Analysis Of Garnie In Fair And Tender Ladies
In the novel Fair and Tender Ladies, the character Garnie is one of interest. As a child, he is full of
wonder and easily excitable. Garnie is the younger brother of Ivy Rowe, the main protagonist. Garnie
is a major character because of how frequently he and Ivy interact and with how she reveals more
about her character from talking about him in her letters. When they were little, Garnie refused to play
with his sisters Ivy and Silvaney unless he could preach. They would often play funeral and Garnie
would deliver a sermon about God. After the family moves to the town of Majestic, Garnie

When Garnie leaves his family to join Sam Russell s travelling revival and returns to Sugar Fork, he is
a completely different character. He starts spewing words of hatred and condemnation. Ivy s child
Lulda dies as an infant, and Garnie tells Ivy that it was her fault and calls her a whore. Garnie gives a
speech about Lulda at her funeral until he is interrupted when Oakley returns. He then condemns his
sister, Oakley, to Hell for having an affair with Honey Breedwell. This demonstrates that Garnie is a
dynamic character because he has changed from the sweet little boy he was when he and Ivy were
children and is now a hellfire and brimstone preacher. He calls both of his sisters whores because Ivy
had a child as an unwed mother and Oakley for having an affair. Any connection Ivy had with him
beforehand is now meaningless because he now despises her. Ivy detests religion because of how
people use religion to justify condemning people and making people feel guilty about themselves.
However, on her death bed, Ivy begins to read the Bible and finds comfort in certain verses that
introduce her to a religion that allows people to enjoy their lives the way they see fit and does not
serve the purposes of the people who preach the religion. Through Garnie s usage of religion to shame
his sisters and threatening them with damnation, she recognizes religion as a sincere confession of the
flaws of man. However, this is a tragic revelation as she has this epiphany at the end of her life and
learned this from her brother, who she had cherished beforehand, telling her that she is damned to Hell

The Effects Of Hormones On The Body
Especially in this present time and an increase in technology, people are unknowingly exposing
themselves to harmful mutagens and agents that can cause a variety of health problems. This has
become an increasing problem regarding reproductive health in men and women. Xenoestrogens are
synthetic chemicals that mimic estrogen in the body. (Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015). What is
interesting about estrogen in the body is that it is present in the male and female body, but usually only
associated with female hormones. Xenoestrogens disrupt hormone regulation causing a variety of
health problems. It is even starting to be found in babies at birth, proving that there are outside sources
of this agent getting into our bodies and causing harm (Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015). In men, an
overload of estrogen, produced in excess because of the presence of xenoestrogens, can cause
infertility by a low sperm count and erectile dysfunction. Not only can it cause infertility, but it can
also cause an enlargement of the prostate and even prostate cancer. The extra hormone production can
also cause female like breast growth (Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015). Xenoestrogens are especially
dangerous for men because it is not expected and causes completely unnatural effects, but that also
makes for easier detection. In women, xenoestrogen causes ovulation disorders, ovarian cysts, breast
cancer, polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis (Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015). Breast

Evaluate The Dopamine Theory
In the research presented by Howes and Kapur (2009), they have pointed out a possible concern to
invalidate the dopamine hypothesis in schizophrenia as current PET studies did not holding a firm
position in measure the dopamine level, they were more to a postulation of a generated estimation
from the data. Furthermore, Howes and Kapur (2009) also stressed that the role of dopamine could be
circumvented by using the antipsychotic drugs which effectively to the psychotic symptoms but
neutral to the dopamine system, thus the role of dopamine will be less critical in schizophrenia. This is
because most of the recent antipsychotic researches only prove that dopamine merely contributed in
providing a solution in alleviating the psychosis liked symptoms but those symptoms are not the
symptoms only existed in schizophrenia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another major problem with the dopamine theory is that it only takes into consideration a single
neurotransmitter and neglect the roles of other neurotransmitters in schizophrenia. The findings are
inconsistent where some findings proposed that the abnormality causes the availability of dopamine
transporters changed, and effect to the increased or decreased of dopamine level (Fusar Poli, and
Meyer Lindenberg, 2012), while some other findings suggested that there are other neurotransmitter
such as glutamine which involved in excitatory response in the brain has played a role in resulting
cognitive deficits of schizophrenia (Stone, Howes, Egerton, Kambeitz, Allen, Lythgoe, et al, 2010).
These assumptions have allowed researchers to implicate schizophrenia by using another pathway or

The Mythology Of Thor, Apollo, And Other Gods
Much of culture that people have been apart of throughout the centuries has largely been contributed
to the religion in which is followed. For instance, the Greeks believed in Zeus, Apollo, and other gods
of that nature. With the progression of time, however, these religions have slowly faded turning into
simple myths of the past. Many former religions are now mere myths. One in particular stills plays an
influential role in today s modern society, and that is Norse mythology. More specifically, Thor, one of
the many gods of the Norse religion, can still be found throughout the cultures of the world. Although

Starbuck s Missions, Values and Principles
Starbuck s missions, values, and principles are directly related to their generic strategy of broad
differentiation. Each one of these elements explains how Starbucks is just not offering just coffee, but
an experience. In the stores, they complement this by bringing several items to the table (product
variety). In addition, Starbucks has positioned themselves in the focus differentiation and
treacherously close to best supply category. Starbucks has used the Verismo to position themselves
back into the focus section because it is a specialty item that Starbucks aficionados might want in their
home. However, Starbucks is going against the grain with the Via products because of its low costs.
This is risky because people buy Starbuck for the experience and the high quality coffee, not because
it is cheap. Starbuck has entered into these other categories through partnerships and joint ventures.
These relationships make sense, because every partnership is with a company in an industry related to
Starbuck s industry (e.g. Pepsi, Kraft, Unilever, Green Mountain etc.). Starbucks does not enter into
partnerships with only one company; but collaborates with many companies, that are the respective
leaders in their industry. The coffee company uses many of their partners as guides to learn from, and
build relationships in a particular industry. Strategically this makes sense because Starbucks is gaining

things about self respect to our lives. In the beginning of the Self Respect essay, the author talks about
the situation she experienced when she was nineteen years old which had to do with the failure to be

no self respect to children sleeping in the bed they made for themselves showing us that children who
did not make well supported beds did not sleep well at night. This shows us that people without self
respect lacked the very foundation to teach them about it the measure of slipping prestige is that one

Baehr Vs Lewin
HIV/AIDS, was a disease with social stigma due to its association with the gay community. However,
after the rise of sexual liberation starting in the 1960s, the fear of homosexuals became more concrete,
as sexuality was discussed more openly[footnoteRef:35]. Historically a disease was viewed in both
social and cultural terms, and the ill can be viewed as being caused by perversions from societal
norms[footnoteRef:36]. This happened with the HIV/AIDS epidemic. For conservatives, HIV/AIDS
was a justified specter, one that could be vindicated as God s Judgement and as a crackdown on the
heinous lifestyle [footnoteRef:37]. Because HIV/AIDS was so concentrated in particularly deviant
groups, the logical linkage of the disease to the gay lifestyle was easy. Gays (IDUs) chose to be gay
(and drug injectors) of their own will. A Supreme Court decision in June 1986 reinforced the moral ...

Lewin was the first widely publicized court case that changed the conversation surrounding queer
couples.[footnoteRef:50] Baehr v. Lewin was a lawsuit in which three same sex couples argued that
Hawaii s prohibition (enacted after the passage of The Defense of Marriage Act) of same sex marriage
violated the state constitution. Although it was a case regarding legal action, it expanded on claims
surrounding the institutions marriage (including the legality of non procreative relationships). It
questioned not only if queer relationships are legitimate, but led to public recognition to the
commitment of the three couples involved. In most discussions of Baehr v. Lewin, one couple was
referenced as a couple of thirty some years , giving it not only legitimacy, but a relatability that most
queer cases didn t have previous to the Baehr case.[footnoteRef:51] [50: Clark, Andrew. 2011. Falling

Analysis Of The Secret Life Of Bees
There is nothing perfect, August said from the doorway. There is only life (Kidd 256). This quote from
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd explains Lily Owens life, a young girl with an unloving
father and a mother who abandoned her and was later shot and killed by her own daughter, Lily. Lily
has a hard time finding her place in the world and understanding why her life is the way it is. She
decides it is time for her to take charge of her own life. She finds herself in Tiburon, South Carolina
with her nanny Rosaleen and three black women, August, June and May who unravel the story to her
mother s past. Lily s story can be seen in different layers, the most significant layers are the religious,
thematic and symbolic layers. These three layers are essential when trying to gain understanding of
The Secret Life of Bees. In The Secret Life of bees you can learn a lot from the thematic layer. Three
salient themes in this layer are forgiveness, hope and strength. Hope is shown when Zach talks to Lily
about becoming a lawyer one day, I ve just never heard of a Negro lawyer, that s all. You ve got to
hear of these things before you can imagine them Bullshit. You gotta imagine what s never been (Kidd
121). Zach has hope that one day he will become a lawyer despite his skin color and what everyone
else says about it. He doesn t give up because of what society thinks, he stays hopeful. During this
time period African Americans had to keep hope that one day the racism

The Presumption of Innocence Down Under
While the Australian legal system abides by the principle of the presumption of innocence, there are
several ways in which courtrooms and their respective rituals, rules and characteristics, contradict the
notion of judicial proceedings being in favour of the accused (CLRG, 1972; Mark, 1973). Indeed,
Friedman and Percival (1976) have suggested that courts now embody efficient processing routine, as
opposed to adjudication. Judicial proceedings can often be characterised by complex legal
terminology that manipulates individuals and exerts power, spatial dominance achieved by furniture
placement, and other rituals which often perpetuate (often unfounded) irrational fears held by both the
accused persons and witnesses. The following observations were noted at the Downing Centre on the
21st of March, 2014 in court rooms 3.1, 5.1 and 5.3. Spatial Organisation As Carlen stated in his
contribution to the British Journal of Criminology, spacing impacts heavily upon peoples ability to
effectively participate in the rituals of court, as well as their ability to defend themselves. Furthermore,
spacing maps out the specific rights and duties individuals have with regards to certain ritual
occasions (1976:50). Upon entering Local Court 5.1, one could immediately notice the power held by
the presiding magistrate. She was seated behind a large, raised podium almost spanning from one side
of the room to the other; the coat of arms raised higher up on the wall directly behind her for all

The Freedom Of Freedom And The First Amendment Rights
Our founding fathers that is now long gone have fought for a future that they envisioned to be free.
The freedom to talk, freedom to express one self, freedom of religion and of the press and so on.
Drafted in their mind this beautiful picture that made America great, Freedom . Freedom does not only
mean one who has been set free from bondage or gained independence but the right of many to freely
express themselves peacefully without intervention of any authority. Having freedom is like a bird
having the ability to fly with the mindset that the founding fathers planted a seed that was watered by
the happiness of the people and as outlined in the 1st Amendment, Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the
freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the
government for a redress of grievances . First Amendment. LII/Legal information institute, 5 Feb.
2010, www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/first_amendemnt. As the years have gone by, the First
Amendment rights has been questioned because many have different views on how freedom of
speech, expression, religion and the press should be protected. On Feb 24, 1968, Tinker Vs. Moines
Independent community school district was a decision by the United States Supreme Court that
defined the constitutional rights of students in U.S. public schools. In this case, a group of students

Abstract: This paper hypothesises that, whilst Six Sigma as a change and improvement strategy is delivering significant business benefit to practitioner organisations, it has not been successfully adapted to deliver similar benefits across supply chains. It demonstrates by reference to the literature that most published applications of Six Sigma in supply chains are related to the application of traditional internal Six Sigma methodologies to the internal processes of a supplier to the Six Sigma Organisation . In this paper, the issues particular to an application of Six Sigma in a broader supply chain context are discussed, with reference to specific supply chain ... Drug wholesale McKesson, for example, has used Six Sigma to improve a variety of supply chain processes, such as inbound trailer cycle times and pick face replenishment efficiency. 2.1 Adding Value With SCOR Developed by the not for profit Supply Chain Council, SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference) is a model that links process elements, metrics, best practices and features associated with supply chain execution. It helps to identify and quantify critical opportunities for improvements not only within the supply chains of a single company but also between multiple trading partners. It describes a continuum of processes: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver and Return. SCOR works best with companies that have an enterprise information platform that can carefully track this continuum through KPIs and scorecards or at least provide the data so that a qualified enterprise platform can acquire the data, analyze it and surface it to the people who need to see it. Although rooted in the supply chain realm, SCOR adherents see a role for the methodology as the gatekeeper identifying the projects most likely to render ROI using SCOR, Lean or Six Sigma. There is already a natural link between Lean and Six Sigma at the program and project execution level. Six Sigma has the project tracking and financial accountability elements. According to Ellis it is phenomenal that the United States decided to rule as a Republic. Never before in history has a new empire or country ruled as a Republic and succeeded except for the Roman Empire. Also the colonies had no strict adhesive keeping them together as a nation, but they still managed to survive. 2. Analyze what the author calls the paradox of the revolutionary era. The Paradox of the revolutionary era was a dilemma that can be viewed as near sighted and far sighted . These were the two different ways of justifying becoming an independent nation. The people who were more far sighted could see the many possibilities the nation held in the future and let this influence their actions in attempt to create a completely independent and free nation. However, the near sighted way was mostly arguing against the authority of Parliament; they were against centralized political powers ruling other areas from faraway places that weren t under its immediate supervision. 3. First and foremost, a person will need to read the rules and regulations of whatever league they are playing in to get an understanding of whether cleats are regulated. There are many leagues that do not allow players to wear metal cleats, so if someone is playing in a league that has a rule like that they will not be able to play if they are wearing metal cleats. • 11. The Great White Sharks Of South Africa Getting to Know the Great White Sharks in South Africa When I was a child, I would always watch Steve Irwin on television. Steve Irwin inspired me to want to work in a biological field the way he did. A few years later, I saw Shark Week on the Discovery Channel for the first time and from that point on, I knew that I wanted to research sharks. From there, I became familiar with all the work that OCEARCH has done regarding great whites that are in South African waters and the great whites that frequent Cape Cod waters in the summer ( About OCEARCH ). As I work towards my degree in Marine Biology, I would love the opportunity to have hands on experience. Researching sharks is something that I find to be very important, which I know OCEARCH does as well. I would like to apply for your OCEARCH Great White Shark grant to travel to the coast of South Africa so that I may research the great white sharks in the surrounding waters. I believe that I would qualify for OCEARCH s grant because I understand the importance of studying great white sharks, I have done my research on the travel that I need to go to South Africa, and lastly the science community would benefit from my work. There is a need for shark research to be done worldwide ( Science ). One major continuity in the commerce of the Indian Ocean was the emergence and use of the same trade routes for both imports and exports of goods such as gold and ivory. One major change was how the commerce of the Indian Ocean prospered economically. The commerce of the Indian Ocean developed rapidly, and the trade incorporated places such as East Africa, the Persian Gulf, Red Sea and India. Another major change was the increased involvement of the Europeans in the Indian Ocean commerce shortly after discovering it. One major continuity in the commerce of the Indian Ocean was the continued use of the same trade routes and ports in the Indian Ocean for imports and exports. Trading ports in East Africa served as a method of transporting goods from Africa. The goods being traded was another continuity. Gold, ivory, and iron were constantly being exported from Africa due to their profitable values. These items could be sold at a profit because they were scarce in Asian countries. Another continuity was the tradition in the use of monsoon winds to help travel. The Indian Ocean trade was made easier by the monsoon winds that circulated between Asia and the Eastern coast which reduced travel times, and produced favorable wind currents. However, there are many different types, one of which is mass spectrometry and another is x ray spectroscopy. Mass spectrometry is a way to measure relative masses of isotopes and their abundance. This is used to identify an element because an element s isotopes will have abundances different from any other element, as well as a completely different set of masses. These results are determined using a mass spectrometer that can separate ionized charge, weigh it and figure out how much of the isotope was in the sample. The element that is going to be analyzed must be vaporized in a gas in order for the MS to scan it. The element is then put in a high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Characteristic X ray spectroscopy is similar to any other spectroscopy in that is excites electrons and then measurable energy is released and measured qualitatively and compared to well known facts and quantitative data is derived. X rays can be excited by high energy beams made up of electrons, protons or even other x rays. These beams are shot at the core of an atom and an inner electron excites and moves to an outer shell. When it calms back down it releases energy. This type of spectroscopy can be used to analyze and identify all elements on the periodic table except for hydrogen, helium and lithium. Under characteristic X ray spectroscopy, there are two types: energy dispersive and wavelength dispersive. In energy dispersive x ray spectroscopy, a semiconductor detector measures the energy of incoming protons while in wavelength dispersive x ray spectroscopy a single crystal diffracts the protons and then the crystal is moved so that all emissions are visible. Frequency is the number of crests per second and is expressed in hertz and shown as v. The pattern associated with light is indirectly related to the wavelength. A Research Assignment For Mcdonald s S Research assignment for McDonald s Introduction Why we chose McDonald s Out of three major business enterprises, the best info that we found was on McDonald s. For that reason, we decided to focus on McDonald s for this assignment. We did some preliminary research and came up with some main issues that are pertinent to this business enterprise. Main issues pertinent to McDonald s Mc Spotlight (2015) had launched a campaign asking what is wrong with McDonald s. Four of the main issues stated by the campaign were the promotion of unhealthy food, the exploitation of workers, an outbreak of food poisoning, the environmental damage done by the business enterprise, and many more. Promotion of unhealthy food It is said that the food at McDonald s is promoted as being nutritious, however what is really being served by McDonald s is junk food foods exceedingly high in sugar, fat and salt, and reasonably low in fibre and vitamins. Food Safety The quality of McDonald s food has often criticized. Being high in sugar, salt and fat, the food is far from healthy. The business has tried to address this issue by adding healthier food options such as salads and yogurt to the menu. However, a recent scandal in China, were there are reports of expired and condemned meat being used and severed to customers has severely tarnished the company s already poor reputation (The Economist 2015). A consensus dictatorship is on that suggests Hitler s regime was surrounded by a general agreement. Hitler had mainly achieved this by trying to win over the hearts and minds of all non Jewish Germans this would mean he would have the majority of the Germans citizens on his side. The public voluntarily had given in the names of Jews to the Nazis due to jealousy and terror imposed on them by the Nazi s which suggests that the terror apparatus used on civilians was effective and the public were forced to conform to the dictatorship but overall most people acted towards their own benefit and the countless denunciations which included false accusations indicate that the regime was a consensus dictatorship. On the other hand, the opposition faced by the Nazi regime is evidence that the Nazi Regime was not a consented one. In Source 5 it mentions the political opponents being detained in the concentration camps but even with this sort of mass terror of demolishing the left there was signs of opposition against the regime. The fact that there were low level resistance jokes around shows the Nazis were unpopular. People were trying to pick holes in the system rather than just accept it. People were trying to spread the word. This also indicated the fear people had of Hitler and it was this fear that forced the people to conform. The Church although having an agreement with Hitler called the concordat had stood against the regime a number of times. For example, Bishop von Galen of Munster had stood against the euthanasia programmes. There was also opposition from the youth, an example the swing kids, they expressed their individuality by wearing their hair long and listened to jazz. Garnie gives a speech about Lulda at her funeral until he is interrupted when Oakley returns. He then condemns his sister, Oakley, to Hell for having an affair with Honey Breedwell. This demonstrates that Garnie is a dynamic character because he has changed from the sweet little boy he was when he and Ivy were children and is now a hellfire and brimstone preacher. He calls both of his sisters whores because Ivy had a child as an unwed mother and Oakley for having an affair. Any connection Ivy had with him beforehand is now meaningless because he now despises her. Ivy detests religion because of how people use religion to justify condemning people and making people feel guilty about themselves. However, on her death bed, Ivy begins to read the Bible and finds comfort in certain verses that introduce her to a religion that allows people to enjoy their lives the way they see fit and does not serve the purposes of the people who preach the religion. Through Garnie s usage of religion to shame his sisters and threatening them with damnation, she recognizes religion as a sincere confession of the flaws of man. In addition, Starbucks has positioned themselves in the focus differentiation and treacherously close to best supply category. Starbucks has used the Verismo to position themselves back into the focus section because it is a specialty item that Starbucks aficionados might want in their home. This is risky because people buy Starbuck for the experience and the high quality coffee, not because it is cheap. Starbuck has entered into these other categories through partnerships and joint ventures. In the beginning of the Self Respect essay, the author talks about the situation she experienced when she was nineteen years old which had to do with the failure to be pledged to a college honor society. She did not have the grades to qualify her to be pledged into the honor society, which made her come to a realization that we are not handed out things in life rather, we have to earn them no winning smiles will do over here, no pretty drawn lines of good intentions (Didion 2). She also realized that we are not judged in this life based on who we are but on what we have done to earn them and that made her feel a loss of innocence the day I did not make Phi Beth Kappa nonetheless marked the end of something and innocence may well be the word for it (Didion 2) hence making her understand that all situations have a consequence. This essay compares people with no self respect to children sleeping in the bed they made for themselves showing us that children who did not make well supported beds did not sleep well at night. This shows us that people without self respect lacked the very foundation to teach them about it the measure of slipping prestige is that one tends to think only of homely children (Didion 4). However, after the rise of sexual liberation starting in the 1960s, the fear of homosexuals became more concrete, as sexuality was discussed more openly[footnoteRef:35]. Historically a disease was viewed in both social and cultural terms, and the ill can be viewed as being caused by perversions from societal norms[footnoteRef:36]. This happened with the HIV/AIDS epidemic. For conservatives, HIV/AIDS was a justified specter, one that could be vindicated as God s Judgement and as a crackdown on the heinous lifestyle [footnoteRef:37]. The Presumption of Innocence Down Under While the Australian legal system abides by the principle of the presumption of innocence, there are several ways in which courtrooms and their respective rituals, rules and characteristics, contradict the notion of judicial proceedings being in favour of the accused (CLRG, 1972; Mark, 1973). Indeed, Friedman and Percival (1976) have suggested that courts now embody efficient processing routine, as opposed to adjudication. Judicial proceedings can often be characterised by complex legal terminology that manipulates individuals and exerts power, spatial dominance achieved by furniture placement, and other rituals which often perpetuate (often unfounded) irrational fears held by both the accused persons and witnesses. The following observations were noted at the Downing Centre on the 21st of March, 2014 in court rooms 3.1, 5.1 and 5.3. Spatial Organisation As Carlen stated in his contribution to the British Journal of Criminology, spacing impacts heavily upon peoples ability to effectively participate in the rituals of court, as well as their ability to defend themselves.
