Atticus Finch Is A Gentleman
Atticus Finch is a gentleman, but not the typical definition of the word gentleman . Atticus is a heroic
father figure in the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird . Atticus is the father of Scout and Jem. Throughout
the story the reader notices a bold change in Jem s mindset, this is the result of puberty and Atticus
immaculate example of how to live like a gentleman . By being a living example of his own definition
of gentleman Atticus exemplifies the lifestyle he wants for Jem. Atticus chooses to show humility in
his life and is rewarded with the title gentleman . Although Atticus is displayed as heroic, (as
mentioned in the previous paragraph) he does not see it necessary to exploit and show off his talents.
This is evident in the scene

With the word Good Faith which means an earnest intention to deal justly with others in any
relationship be it business or any new venture.
It is derived from the Latin idiom bona fide, and courts use the two terms interchangeably.
Good faith is an intangible and inclusive term that encompasses a genuine sincerity or purpose without
any wickedness or the desire to deceive others.
Organizational success has a direct relation with the term Good faith. Good faith may be looked more
from the commercial law or corporate law perspective however the fact remains that the corporate
who succeed and make it to the top share a jovial and a good faith with their vendors, shareholders,
internal employees etc. The failure of Good faith in business relations seeks towards the downfall and
other serious implication on business which forces the industry to coin the corporation who does not

The Difference Between Volunteer And Large Telemarkote Calls
There been numerous studies conducted to see if telephone calls actually produce the desired effect.
There is a significant difference in the mobilization of voters using telephone calls between the
volunteer and the large telemarketing call centers. Studies have shown an increase in voter turnout of
nearly 3 to 5% for volunteer callers, while most commercial call centers do not have much of a
significant impact on getting voters to the polls. Yet, most of the common forms of political campaign
calls do come from the telemarketing call centers. To try and understand why this is a look at how
both the volunteer and telemarketing call centers interact with the potential voter during the phone
conversation was conducted. The telemarketing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general the findings indicate that in the American Society positive social norms that come with
voting and those who are contacted and give the response to the affirmative that they will vote seemed
to be more effective than a onetime contact. It has long been understood that when one gets a written
or verbal commitment generally that has been followed through in the commitment kept. Simply put
that asking someone to commit to vote can increase the possibility they will. Also a while person
thinks with the intent of commitment this influences person to vote. Phone calls either from volunteers
or the large telemarketing firms may not bring a large amount of voters to the polls yet; they do play
an essential part in the overall outcome of getting voters to the polls. It s not that phone calls are
ineffective it seems to be more in how the phones scripts are delivered is what is showing to be
lacking.
DOOR KNOCKERS Another important part of the political campaigning is the door knocker these
door to door canvassers play a very important role in the campaign. This part of the campaign offers a
more personal interaction with a potential voter. The door knocker offers the in person interaction and
conversation by delivering the campaign message and at the same time giving the voter the
opportunity to ask questions or give comments. There s still much debate over

American Dream in the Film, The Pursuit of Happyness Essay
Today, The American dream is not fully represented in the same way as the ideas were initially raised.
The ideas were primarily fabricated in the very beginning of our country. The propagandist role of any
medium has changed just as much as the times have since the signing of the Declaration of
Independence. In contemporary America, film is the leading component of the propagation and
detraction of the American dream. The film The Pursuit of Happyness (2005) supports the idea of the
American dream our founding fathers set out. Wall Street (1987) on the other hand, supports and acts
as a detractor of the true American dream and leads people to believe, what a lot of people already
believe, that it is a dream to become monetarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These unalienable rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness set the stage for the possibility of
any person to pursue what makes them happy and not be bound by any restrictions since all men are
created equal. This combined with the tenacity or determination of the American people to be treated
equally truly defines what the American dream is. Propaganda of the American dream in the earlier
parts of our country was promoted through the ideas of our government and the known ability to be
free. This eventually evolved into propaganda by entertainment such as posters, newspapers, film and
anything that would reflect on a large audience . In this day in time, we get most of our propaganda
through television. The cause of this is the increase in popularity of watching television or films over
reading books. If this were not happening people may get their view of the American dream through
literature ranging from the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin to Mark Twain s The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn , which promote the American Dream as it was intended. So, the role of American
Films acting on the thoughts of Americans is changing just as quickly as technology, for retrieving
information at least. Knowing this, the propagandist role of the American dream through film

Vulnificus Essay
V. vulnificus causes disease in individuals who eat contaminated seafood or contaminating an open
wound or even a tiny scratch with seawater containing the organism. Because of the high
multiplication rate of the pathogen, wound infections may quickly progress to necrotizing fasciitis and
even secondary septicemia (Bier et al. 2015a). Babolsar is a coastal city in Iran. This investigation was
performed as the public awareness of the existence of the bacterium in the regions under study. Shaw

The abundance of V. vulnificus in coastal water was strongly correlated to water temperature. The
isolation of cultivable forms is limited to the warmest months. Maugeri TL et al reported that V.
vulnificus was isolatd only when the water temperature was between 20 to 21.5°C (Maugeri et al.
2006). In the present study, the bacterium was isolated during the summer season (average water
temperature of 25°C). It seems that this finding can show association of the cultivable forms on high
water temperature. In the current research, V. vulnificus was not found in any samples obtained in the
spring (average water temperature of 15°C). In the Gulf of Mexico V. vulnificus was not isolated when
seawater temperatures were 14°C (Pfeffer et al. 2003).When the water temperatures reach to less than
13°C, V. vulnificus strains enter the VBNC state in which they are metabolically active but unable to

accumulate to drink, get endowments from their master, and tune in to stories sung by the scops, or
troubadours. Be that as it may, the happy clamor from Heorot rankles Grendel, a loathsome evil
presence who lives in the swamplands of Hrothgar s kingdom. Grendel threatens the Danes
consistently, slaughtering them and vanquishing their endeavors to battle back. The Danes endure
numerous times of dread, risk, and passing on account of Grendel. In the long run, be that as it may, a
youthful Geatish warrior named Beowulf knows about Hrothgar s situation. Roused by the test,
Beowulf sails to Denmark with a little organization of men, resolved to crush Grendel.
Hrothgar, who had once done an awesome support for Beowulf s dad Ecgtheow, acknowledges
Beowulf s offer to battle Grendel and holds a devour in the saint s respect. Amid the devour, a jealous

Alexander II vs Alexander III
Compare and contrast the domestic policies of Alexander II and Alexander III Alexander II and his
successor and son, Alexander III, inherited Russia in different states and degrees of turmoil. Due to
these pressures, both were required to make alterations to the systems in place, such as that of politics
and economics. However the natures of their crisis were different and therefore the subsequent
modifications varied and were, in many cases, controversial.
Alexander II came to power in 1855 and had to deal with the humiliation Russia suffered from her
loss in the Crimean War. Due to the lacking standards within all categories, the Czar made a series of

This saw the emergence of the working class, which was a great push towards progress. Alexander III
employed Witte as Minister of Finance. Witte s substantial impact was that of the progression of
infrastructure. Previous to his employment, the only railway lines within Russia were that which
connected its two capital cities: Moscow and St Petersburg. However Witte recognized the importance
of having a vast and interconnecting infrastructure and pushed the building of tracks within Russia. He
multiplied the amount of track laid by twenty. This provided many opportunities for Russia; she was
able to transport people from the desolate countryside towards the city as well as transporting goods to
other nations. The increase in trade allowed for the accumulation of foreign currency and thus granted
Russia access to purchasing foreign equipment for industrialization. Both Czars made incredible
progressions for the modernization of Russia.

Alexander III, that of economics and politics, their intentions festered

The Crime Picture Differs From The Boy Crime, Picture, And...
Youth who are accused of crimes are often older males. In fact, of all youth court cases reported in
2008 09, 72 percent involved males, while 21 percent involved females (Kong and AuCoin, 2008).
The gender of the offender was not reported in seven percent of the cases. This paper will explain how
the girl crime picture differs from the boy crime picture, and show the extent the differences that
appear to be increasing/decreasing over time. While it is clear that females are accused of crimes less
frequently than boys, the ratio shift depending on the type of crime.
Girl Crime Picture Female youth account for just one out of every five people who are accused by the
police in the Criminal Code offenses in Canada (Kong, 2008). This has been a reality for some time
now. This low crime rate among females resulted in little being known about female offenders and
their motives. The low rate also means women and girls who commit crimes face a Canadian criminal
justice system that is primarily designed to deal with male offenders (Kong, 2008). It is precisely the
relatively small number of women and girls who commit crimes that creates a need to regularly
monitor trends in offending patterns among females, trends that become masked by the larger male
population if not examined separately (Kong, 2008). Various crime prevention strategies can use the
trends in female and male crime patterns. The information can be used to assess the responses by the

Virtue And Justice In The Persian Letters By Montesquieu
The Persian Letters by Montesquieu describe the travels to France done by Persian noblemen, Uzbec
and Rica, in search of wisdom. The letters that they write back to their home in Persia, discuss the
European way of life in comparison to their own culture. Montesquieu uses the two travelers
disorienting view of European culture as a way to criticize aspects of his own nation at the time. A
major conflict in the book is how Uzbec s strong admiration for virtue and justice can be hypocritical
and lead to destructive outcomes. Uzbec s virtue and justice is shown to be hypocritical through his
actions. He goes on a trip to hide from his problems leaving his wives behind and forcing them to stay
virtuous to him. He constantly refers to their virtue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Montesquieu 1973, 35). Yet it turns out that she is the instigator of the unrest back at home. She is the
one who betrayed Uzbec. The wife whose virtue he believed in the most is the one who had deceived
him from the beginning. Yes, I have deceived you; I have bribed your eunuchs, I have played upon
your jealousy, and I have managed to make of your dreadful seraglio an abode of delights and
pleasures (Montesquieu 1973, 212). This declaration showed a glimpse into the true feelings of
Roxane. Roxane in the end commits suicide in the last chapter and writes her last letter to Uzbec, And
you, who seem born only to deny all your senses and to resent your very desires, eternal victims of
modesty and decorum, why cannot I have you brought in great numbers to this unhappy seraglio, so
that I may witness your terror at all the blood I am about to spill here! (Montesquieu 1973, 225) In her
last letter, she explains her reason in committing suicide is to spite Uzbec. That was a devastating
event to happen and yet Uzbec was too far away to do anything about it, virtue was not able to save

Of Mice and Men the Relationship Between George and Lennie...
How does Steinbeck present the relationship between George and Lennie in this chapter? The author
John Steinbeck presents the relationship between the two characters, George and Lennie in different
ways as they are both different characters and have different personalities. He presents it like a parent
and child relationship, with George being the parent and Lennie the child. As soon as the reader is
introduced to George and Lennie Steinbeck tells us that, They had walked in single file down the path
. This immediately notifies the reader of the kind of relationship between George and Lennie, it does
this by stating single file . This reminds us of a game called follow the leader. It also tells us that the

I could also notice when I was reading through the first chapter that George has a sense of authority
over Lennie, you gonna get that wood . This is like a parent telling a child to do his chores. On some
occasions though George shows a bit of hatred towards Lennie, he thinks of what he could have if
Lennie wasn t around and contrasts that with George. There is also a sense of lack of trust in the
relationship between the two men. We see this through the predicament with the work cards. It tells us
that George again has to take care of Lennie, and that Lennie isn t trusted by George. Again this idea is
portrayed to the reader on page seventeen, we notice that George knows that he needs a plan b as
Lennie cannot be trusted so his plan b is to tell Lennie to hide in the brush until I come for you . This
helps us to understand the relationship even further. George also treats Lennie like a dog in one
occasion in the chapter, good boy . This is something a master would say to a dog to encourage them,
it also tells us the sort of role in the relationship George has again.
In conclusion, we see that Steinbeck uses various techniques to portray the relationship between
George and Lennie. But the main method is the idea of George being like a parent to

Argumentative Essay On The Internet
As technology begins to advance every day it starts to have a large impact on us humans, not only on
just our lifestyle but also the way we prefer to receive information. In the novel The Shallows, by
Nicholas Carr, he proclaims a biased argument about the internet consequently how it is changing our
ability to think logically because we are choosing the easier route to gain knowledge. Additionally,
argues that due to Google we lack our critical thinking skills causing less knowledge to be created.
The Internet is designed to connect people on a personal and commercial level, on the other hand, Carr
rejects that idea, moreover views it as making us individuals more shallow by using the Internet.
Despite the benefits the internet has, it is degrading us and we don t even know it. The internet is
constantly changing the way our brain works. Additional use of the internet causes our brains to
decrease the attention span we have. We were all born with a blank slate of minds with a basic brain
structure, though our synaptic (nerve cells) connect accordingly by experience. Cells that fire together
wire together. (Carr 27). If animals learn through repetition, us humans might as well. The consistent
usage of the internet to receive information quickly makes the human brain have a shorter attention
span. Due to neuroplasticity, we are utilized to receiving information so quickly, when we are given
something like a book, it makes it harder for us to understand the text since we

Animal Testing Should Not Be Used For Biomedical Research
Millions of animals are used and tested on for biomedical research. Considering this fact, is it really an
ethical approach to satisfying the needs of humans? Animals should not be used for biomedical
research because the experiments are cruel and inhumane. Although animal testing brings more
medical advancement and less human based experiments, it is an expensive way of researching that
produce imprecise outputs and at the same time is a practice of animal cruelty.
What is animal testing? Animal testing is experimentation carried out on living animals. Its purpose is
to research basic biology and diseases and assessing the effectiveness of medicine for human use
(About Animal Testing). Every year in the U.S., millions of animals are utilized as models in
biological and medical research to study human disease, injury, development, psychology, as well as
anatomy and physiology (Biomedical Research). All procedures, even those relegated as mild , have
the potential to cause the animals physical suffering as well as psychological distress (About Animal
Testing). Most animals are killed at the cessation of an experiment, but some may be reused in
subsequent experiments. Animals often suffer greatly in these studies, as they are inflicted with
diseases, traumas, and pain they would not mundanely experience in order to mimic human
conditions.
Numerous different species are utilized around the world, but the most mundane include mice, fish,
rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters,

Damn Dams In The United States
Damn Dams The United States has led the world in dam building for the past 100 years. The dams are
used for a variety of purposes, including hydropower, irrigation, flood control, and water storage.
Even though dams can be a benefit to society, they can also cause a lot for harm to the rivers. Dams
degraded river ecosystems, depleted fisheries, and diminished the recreational use of nearly all of the
nation s rivers. Many of the dams are unsafe, old or no longer serve their intended purposes.

Essay on Physics of Bowling
Aside from being one of the most accessible (and best!) sports out there, many aspects of bowling can
be expressed with physics. Achieving maximum power, throwing a hook ball, and getting good pin
action can all be broken down into physics issues and represented with equations. I will cover four
aspects of bowling that can be explained with physics terms and show you how to use this knowledge
to optimize your game.
Gravitational Potential Energy
Depending on the height from which the bowler drops the bowling ball, the ball will have a certain
amount of potential energy. If the bowler bowls with a straight ball, the potential energy of the ball
will not affect their game very much. It will, however, draw attention to the bowler when ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The horizontal kinetic energy that remains after the ball has traveled down the lane is the energy that
will be used to collide with the pins, so the bowler needs to make it count!
The magnitude of the forces exerted in the horizontal and vertical directions can be calculated using
trigonometry. The total magnitude of the force multiplied by the cosine of its angle with the horizon
will calculate the horizontal force. Conversely, the total magnitude of the force multiplied by the sine
of its angle with the horizon will calculate the vertical force.
Friction, Hook Balls, and Direction of Impact
When a bowler bowls with a hook ball, they are taking advantage of friction. A hook ball is when the
ball goes about two thirds of the way down the lane before curving into the pins. Don t bowl against
people who do this, they are usually very good. The lanes are oiled, producing a small coefficient of
kinetic friction. Therefore, it takes a long time and a lot of torque on the ball to cause it to curve into
the pins. The ball accelerates to the left or right as it catches what little friction it can.
The reason most good bowlers bowl with a hook ball boils down to the direction of the collision with
the pins. Throwing the ball straight down the lane, while easy to do, does not distribute the impact
efficiently. Once in a while a straight ball bowler will get lucky and put a

The Effect Of Groucho s Short Story Of Casablanca
The effect of Groucho s short history of Casablanca is to create a humour but yet also sarcasm
scenario. The letter says, It seems that in 1471, Ferdinand Balboa Warner, your great great grandfather
... had stumbled on the shores of Africa and, raising his aplentock, which he later turned in for a
hundred shares of common, named it Casablanca (Groucho). Groucho finds it ridiculous that the
Warner Brothers thinks they own the city name Casablanca. He makes up a how supposedly the
Warner Brothers were given the right to own the name not because they made a movie using the title
Casablanca.
4) It would really not be difficult to distinguish Ingrid Bergman and Harpo Marx. In Footnote 4 and 5
it says, The beautiful female star of Casablanca ... Harpo was Groucho s brother and part of the Marx
Brothers; he wore a red, curly haired wig (Footnote 4 and 5). This comes to show that it would not
difficult to distinguish a female from a male a red curly haired wig. Unless one is blind then one may
have some trouble. However, it is not the case in this situation. Groucho is trying to make an excuse to
contradict the Warner Brothers.
5) Marx offers so many examples of Brothers to create a sense of humor but also contradict the legal
name accusation of the Warner Brothers. Groucho says, What about Warner Brother ? Do you own
that too ... Professionally, we were brothers before you were (Marx). This comes to show that Groucho

When starting in a new environment (i.e. Atlanta Braves) where many of their staff are established and
well known in the office there is a barrier that an individual has eliminate to start the development of
trust. However, for new, entry level employees like myself, we must build rapport and trust with
everyone, not just in one particular office (marketing), but with everyone that an individual (I, myself)
will come into contact with. Even after building relationships and having open conversations with new
co workers, the component of trust has to be proven. Some of the ways to bring trust to the work
environment is by taking some simple steps. Some of the steps to build trust are: keeping promises to
co workers when asked to collaborate on projects, help solve marketing and promotion problem when
a co worker ask for help, and being able to adapt to any situations within the office that might arise.

Essay about The Mirror Neuron and its Role in Action...
Although the control of action in humans is fairly well understood, the processes that underlie action
understanding from observation are much more unclear. In general, action understanding refers to the
ability to recognize the purpose of an action performed by another person (Hickok 2008). Two
prominent theories exist to explain this phenomenon. The first posits that action understanding is an
inferential process that integrates contextual clues to determine the goal of a movement. In contrast,
the second theory asserts that action understanding arises from the simulation of the observed action in
the motor areas of the viewer (Brass et al. 2007). While the inferential process theory enjoyed a period
of general acceptance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researchers concluded that this indicated mirror neurons coded not just for action, but the goals of
action. Kohler and colleagues (2007) expanded on this idea, showing that some neurons were
activated with the mere sound of the result of an intended action (i.e. cracking a peanut). The authors
asserted that this indicated that mirror neurons were so tuned to goals that the sound of an action
reaching its goal was enough for the macaque to understand the entire action that would have been
involved. The results of both studies were said to apply neatly to humans as well. That is, if action
understanding is supported by the mirror neuron system of macaques, it is most likely supported by
the human mirror neuron system (hMNS). There are two major problems with this view. First, it has
been shown that human mirror neurons are much more broadly tuned than monkeys. There is not
enough evidence to generalize macaque studies to humans in this way (Hickok 2008). Second, both of
these studies fail to acknowledge that the activation of mirror neurons may have been the result, or a
byproduct, of understanding rather than the cause. Their activity, then, may only have reflected
understanding earlier in processing.
If action understanding in humans is predominantly reliant on mirror neurons, then these neurons
should respond preferentially to the ends of an action rather than the means; however, this is not the
case. Hesse and

Probation Parole And Parole Case
Approximately 1 in 51 adults in the United States was under community supervision at yearend 2013,
the lowest rate observed since 1996 (Herberman Bonczar, 2014, p.1). Probation/parole supervision
also known as community supervision, helps individuals (ex criminals) acclimate back in their
community. Probation is used when a judge chooses to let the offender serve his sentence under
officer supervision in the community, rather than in prison. It is usually given to individuals that have
committed a non violent/ minor infraction or that have a really good defense attorney. However, when
someone has been sent to prison for an extended period of time but have served a certain amount of
their time or has proven to the Parole Board that they have improved their behavior, will be released to
a Parole officer. The probation and parole program is comprised of two approaches casework and
brokerage. Casework approach deals with the offender as a flawed person that needs help; brokerage
approach is when the probation/parole officer uses his influence in the community to assist the
criminal in finding employment or programs. Knowing how to use these approaches along with
monitoring techniques will assist in the officer and offender being successful. This paper will examine
the approaches to PO work along with the types of monitoring used to keep track of offenders. The

Roald Dahl s The Landlady
Roald Dahl s realistic fiction story, The LandLady, takes place at a bed and breakfast owned by the
landlady where she also lives. Billy Weaver, a seventeen year old guy, was looking for a place to stay,
and he walks by the landlady s house. He was going to keep walking when a sign suddenly caught his
eye and next thing he knew, he was ringing the doorbell. By using sentence variety with lots of
description, Roald Dahl creates the lesson that it is essential to be aware and conscientious of one s
immediate surroundings.
Throughout the story, the lack of awareness and being conscientious is a central issue that affects all of
the characters. Bill Weaver lacks an awareness of what is going on throughout the story and he is not

Throughout the story, Billy is not aware and conscientious of his immediate surroundings. When Billy
is walking down the street and sees the landlady s sign, he seems to be drawn into the house. BED

a large black eye staring at him through the glass. These words are holding him compelling him
forcing him to stay where he was and not to walk away from that house (2). This does not even make
Billy have the slightest doubt about anything. Dahl uses the sensory detail of sight to draw in the

Dahl not only uses sensory detail as a craft to develop his ideas, but he also uses sentence variety with

shows his craft for developing his ideas. Billy found himself automatically starting forward into the
house. The compulsion or, more accurately, the desire to follow after her into that house was
extraordinarily strong (2). The way Dahl describes how Billy is feeling the desire to follow the lady
really helps the reader imagine and almost feel the urge that he is. With Dahl s

Reasons For European Imperialism
The European nations were in a competition to be the most sophisticated and technologically
advanced country Britain was leading and with exponential growth Britain needed a major source of
raw product and people to fuel the flames of the industrial revolution. With this need Britain used
africa to supply their demand. Europe had many reasons that kept them from colonizing Africa such as
Malaria and the need of justification to slaughter many people that would be necessary for the
colonization of africa. The driving force behind the European nation spreading imperialism consisted
of 3 main things those things where economics, political competition, and the culture s attitude toward
the situation Europe at the time was looking for a source of income and resources so the looked no

A Summary Of The Broken Spears
When I was younger I had a friend that would love to tell stories of the Aztec, or Mexica and although
I don t think she knew what she was talking about truly, I started a liking for their culture. Their
culture is a very unique one that will be known for its practice of sacrificing humans, making of
magnificent jewelry, and the making of their downfall by the Spaniards. The Broken Spears is a book
that so well put together the accounts of the Mexica and the conquest of the Spaniards. Broken Spears
was an interesting account that could be seen to have a little bias on the side of the Mexica. Many
reasons could follow like the fact that it was written after the whole ordeal. Although Broken Spears
seems to have a bias I claim that it does show how the culture collides well because the difference in
the first encounter with its first judgement of each people to each other, the difference with the
technologies and living, and the difference between the religions they both believed in. In the Broken
Spears the first accounts or documents discuss the omens the Mexica believe to be happening before
the inevitable arrival of the Spanish that are such strangers to the Mexica. Although they are strangers
the Mexica start to believe that they are gods that came back to them. Because of this Moctezuma II
sends warriors or messengers to give them gifts and food. They explain some of these gifts that they
are to give to the strangers here in this passage of the book: ... a serpent mask

The Personification Of Sexuality In Proverbs By Keutvim
Proverbs is an interesting book in the Ketuvim, as it is written seemingly in the form of a patriarchal
system of father passing on wisdom to his son, but yet, one of the most vital pieces is the
personification of Woman Wisdom. Not only are wisdom and folly personified as woman, there is an
inherent sexual nature surrounding their personification such as in 5:3, talking about the immoral
woman and how her lips drip honey , one cannot read these words without understanding the
intertwining of intimacy and sexuality within it. This concept is further solidified not only for the
Woman Folly, but also for our beloved Woman Wisdom, with the hyper focus on the lips in 8:6, 16:23
24, and among many other places within the book. From 8:6 where the opening of my lips will come

The personification of woman as wisdom and folly suggests a polarization that lives between the two
worlds. Woman (or simply rather humans, I suggest woman because of the word choices that appear to
assume life as seen through the lens of birth) cannot simply have a middle ground, they must play into
the tropes of good womanhood, the Woman Wisdom, or harlotry womanhood, the Woman of Folly oh
how Proverbs hates and fetishizes her! An interesting thought written about this very idea comes from
Claudia Camp, a professor of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament at Texas Christian University. Camp
wrote, Along with her counterpart, Woman Stranger [Woman Folly, in my paper], she [Woman
Wisdom] may be seen as part of patriarchy s perennial classification of all women as either all good or
all evil... (Camp). This idea that woman (or maybe more universally humans?) must live in either
realm, not a middle is certainly interesting when considering what the author is trying to convey about

Analysis Of To A Louse By Robert Burns
Itchy, tiny, and crawly are words that people use to describe a louse, but Robert Burns s poem To a
Louse tells a different story. Although this poem has a rough exterior, the story should not be
overlooked just because of the different writing style. The poem begins by telling the story of a little
louse peeking out of a sophisticated woman s bonnet. The third person feels that this low life louse
does not belong with a classy lady, but he should be among the beggars. Then, the poem ends pointing
out that the woman is being acknowledged by the bug on her bonnet and not by her looks. The poem
ends with a message in the last stanza saying To see oursels as ithers see us! (Burns). Understanding
the summary of the poem, the story can be further explored by looking at the background and literary
devices. In evaluating this poem, one can gain an insight on the historical context, irony, and how this
literary device affects the audience s thoughts. Robert Burns uses this poem to give the reader an
awareness of his life as a poor Scott at the time. This unique style of language was thought to be a
result of Burns s upbringing. Around the time the poem was written, 1784 to 1786 Robert Burns
struggled economically with his fam and used poetry as a distraction (Shairp). David Sampson in The
Modern Language Review writes Initially his low birth and, in particular, his lack of a liberal
education were regarded as disadvantages for which allowance had to be made in criticism (24).
Robert Burns was someone with a low social class that many believed was why he writes in this style,
but rather than being a disadvantage, people saw this as a way for Burns to be original and not
influenced by poets prior to him (Sampson 25). This childhood could be a reason of why he points out
the woman in gauze and lace to be vain. An article in the Scottish Literary Review writes She also
conveys a strong impression of Burns s own thoughts about this process of poetic development, seeing
in him an extraordinary instance of class anger, class denial and class bargaining on a grand scale
(Andrews). The she in this quote refers to Carol McGuirk who worked on multiple Burns studies. His

Health Information Exchange or HIE is a relatively new facet in the 100 year history of medical

specifically, HIE allows nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and other health care providers and patients to

the brain child of The Hartford, who founded the Community Health Management Information

geographically defined communities. (Dullabh) The second great attempt was in 1996, with the
development of Community Health Information Networks (CHINs). Neither of these systems
succeeded, because of the inherent problems which included setup and maintenance costs,
competition, limited information sharing, transmission issues, and political support. (Dullabh) The
next stage in health information exchange was Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs), a
neutral third party organization that facilitates information exchange between providers within a
geographical area to achieve more effective and efficient healthcare (HIE, persistent). RHIOs had

American government created the Bill of Rights to protect our individual liberties. They greatly
believed in the significance of the overall creation of these particular rights, which happens to be the
basic freedoms of us Americans. However, our government has compromised on these distinct
liberties in the name of security and general welfare in various ways.
To begin, the very first amendment to the United States Constitution grants citizens with the freedom
of speech. The freedom of speech is generally the right to express your own opinion without
restrictions. This typically includes the right not to speak if you do not want to, the right to advertise
goods, products, and services, and even the right to use certain derogatory words and/or phrases to
transfer political beliefs. However, citizens often get confused about what is actually granted within
the right and what is not. For example, if you are in a public place with a good ... Show more content

The right to bear arms basically means that you have the right to any weapon that you desire and as
many of them as you please. Also, you should be able to bring them with you wherever you choose to.
This freedom has certain limits though. For instance, the government can actually place restrictions
and have some constraints on certain weapons. There are also limits on when you can purchase these
weapons and who has access to these specific firearms. In New York, special courts will be established
for gun possession cases in order to cut gun crime as of January 2016. These limitations are generally
put into action to secure the safety of the citizens. With that being said, one of the government s main
goal is to protect their people. Therefore, they have to compromise to the rights that are granted in the

Arthritis Case Study
From the ward you are practicing in choose an operation that was done to patient for whom you have
given nursing care. From your experience describe the indications and purpose for this operation and
the salient post operative nursing care.
Arthritis is one of the leading causes of femoral fractures especially in the elderly. It may also be
caused by trauma or injury, starting from simple falls to more extensive such as a fall from height.
Indeed, a femoral fracture affects hip movement as it forms the ball and socket joint. Those of who
have a fractured hip should seek treatment immediately since it can damage surrounding tissue, alter
physical mobility and, therefore, affect the quality of life. When mobility is likely to be altered ...

These include large skin incisions, more extensive soft tissue dissection, a higher requirement for
blood transfusions, and a prolonged stay in hospital (Schwartsmann et al., 2014). In a research study
done by Garg, Marimuthu, Kumar, Malhotra Kotwal, 2011 they reported that post operative
mobilisation was related to bone quality and fracture reduction, and the position of the implant within
the femoral head. Garg et al., 2011 emphasizes on the fact that patients who have had proximal
femoral nail anti rotation (PFNA) had relatively earlier mobilisation than those who underwent

The Species Richness Of Aquatic Macro Invertebrates Among...
Figure 1. The species richness of aquatic macro invertebrates among three stream types. The same
number of species was found in the forest and urban streams. There was an insignificantly higher
number of species found in the agriculture stream. Figure 2. The biotic index of the three types of
streams was calculated by the sum of total tolerance values divided by the sum of total number of
individuals. The forest stream had the lowest FBI value, followed by the urban stream and the
agriculture stream. Figure 3. The relative frequency of the functional feeding groups of each stream
type. The total number of individuals for each stream was 368, 1334, and 510 for the forest,
agriculture, and urban streams, respectively. The major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, there is a trend in the number of species found in each stream type based on the riparian
habitat. As the amount of organic pollution increased, there should have been a decrease in the species
richness of the streams. Species richness also has an effect on the processing of leaf material. Less
species richness due to organic pollution forces the litter breakdown to be dependent on microbial
activity rather than shredders (Masese et al. 2014). In addition, microbial breakdown of leaf litter is
accelerated by the presence of nutrients, which is high in agricultural streams (Masese et al. 2014).
Therefore, the species richness of the agricultural stream should have been low and leaf processing
would be controlled by bacteria. Although the agricultural stream had the highest species richness, the
relative frequency of shredders was very low compared to the other functional feeding groups shown
in Figure 3. Likewise, due to the organic pollution present in urban streams, it would be expected to
have a low species richness and thus any leaf material would be processed by microbes as well.
Furthermore, the forest stream should have had the highest species richness, which would in turn
impact leaf processing by having the shredders drive leaf litter breakdown rather than microbes. The
Family Biotic Index describes the water quality of a stream by averaging the tolerance values of all the
individuals that were sampled (Hilsenhoff 1988). Based on the equation,

Urinary Obstruction Case Study
Urinary Obstruction, Pediatric
Urinary obstruction happens when something blocks the passage of urine from the body. The blockage
may be in any of the following places:
The kidneys. These are organs that filter blood and produce urine.
The ureters. These are tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
The bladder. This is the sac that holds urine until it passes out of the body.
The urethra. This is the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body.
Urinary obstruction can put pressure on the kidneys, leading to kidney infection or kidney damage.
CAUSES
Causes include:
Birth defects.
Kidney stones.
Blood clots.
Scar tissue.
Tumors or blood vessels that compress the ureters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DIAGNOSIS
Urinary obstruction is usually diagnosed with one or more tests. Tests may include:
An ultrasound.
An X ray.
A CT scan.
Cystoscopy.
Blood tests.
Urine tests.
TREATMENT
Treatment depends on the cause of the urinary obstruction and its severity. In some cases, the problem
corrects itself as the child grows and develops. In other cases, treatment can involve:
The placement of a soft plastic tube (stent) into the blocked ureter. The stent will keep the ureter open
and allow urine to flow more normally.
The placement of a drainage tube into a kidney. The tube will allow urine to drain into a container
outside the body.
Surgery to fix the problem causing the obstruction.
Antibiotic medicine to treat an infection or to help prevent infection.
HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Give medicines only as directed by your child s health care provider.
If your child was prescribed an antibiotic medicine, have him or her finish it all even if he or she starts
to feel better.
Have your child drink enough fluid to keep his or her urine clear or pale yellow.
SEEK MEDICAL CARE IF:
Your child has a new

Ellen Craft Essay
Four million African American women were slaves in the years between 1619 between 1865 (Sterling
3). Slave women did not keep diaries and hardly wrote letters thus it is so hard for historians to track
their lives. Black women were the most exploited working force. Ellen Craft was a great woman, she
overcame the biggest struggle of her life during hard times for an African American women. a.
Personal Data: Geographical birth, life, school, death where buried if possible. In 1826 a woman
named Ellen Smith was born in Clinton Georgia. She was daughter to her mother Maria Smith and her
master James Smith. James Smith was a lawyer and surveyor. Ellen was purchased as a child to be
trained as a house wench this involved cooking scrubbing and lots of other tasks that made up women
s work. However, most of time she spent as a nurse to the Smith children. At age eleven she got a new
master, in Macon Georgia, who was married to Eliza Smith daughter of James Smith. Ellen Smith
became a good seamstress. Due to her skills as a seamstress she was able to get hired out for work as
long as she gave a certain percentage to her master. She was not the only slave in Macon that was
allowed to get hired out. In fact it was somewhat common for slaves to get hired out for their skills.
This gave the slaves more freedom and on Sundays, during Christmas, and New Year s they threw
parties. This possibly could have been where Ellen met William craft who was an apprentice in a

Mary Poppins Research Paper
Saving Mr. Banks is about the feud between Walt Disney and P.L. Travers; the author of the famous
Marry Poppins. Travers was a renowned author, especially her book Mary Poppins; even till now this
book is consider a classic to all of us. One of the reason why I selected this movie out of all the other
recommendations, it is mainly because I love both the actor (Tom Hanks) and the actress (Emma
Thompson), they were definitely the best candidate to portray Disney and Travers. Another reason is,
both Mary Poppins and anything Disney related, are my favorites since I was a child. As for this
movie, it shows a little more realistic side of film industry, and how it requires a lot of different teams
to produce an all time favorite movie; the Marry

When we think of cannibalism, our minds immediately turn...
When we think of cannibalism, our minds immediately turn to gruesome pictures of humans eating
other humans or fictional characters that feast upon the flesh of other living people (especially with a
nice chianti and fava beans). Though cannibalism may not be a common occurrence among humans, it
is a fairly widespread practice upon many other species of the animal kingdom. This paper will
explore the behavior of cannibalism in the tiger salamander (Ambystoma tigrinum) a major fitness
cost of cannibalism in these organisms: pathogen transmission. Cannibalism is operationally defined
as the ingestion of all or part of a conspecific, and is taxonomically widespread amongst many
vertebrate and invertebrate groups; however, it is extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most normal morphs feed on invertebrates, whereas cannibal morphs eat a wider range of prey
including conspecific and heterospecific larvae. Since tiger salamanders breed in ephemeral ponds, it
is believed that environmental cues influence the frequency of cannibal morphs in a population. These
cues can include high intraspecific density that leads to resource competition, pathogen and/or parasite
densities in the habitat, etc. (Brunkow and Collins, 1996; Collins et al., 2003; Denoel et al., 2006;
Maret and Collins, 1997; Pfennig, 1991, 1998). Most current research on cannibalism in tiger
salamanders focuses on kin selection and kin recognition strategies. However, within the past twenty
years more research has begun to focus on the cost of pathogen transmission on cannibalism in tiger
salamanders. This seems to be due to the increased amphibian population declines due to pathogens
and because it seems to be the biggest fitness cost to cannibalistic salamanders, when compared to the
other mentioned above (Parris et al., 2005; Pfennig, 1997). Through the current research, the rest of
this paper will explore pathogen transmission and how it affects cannibalism in tiger salamanders.
First we will survey some research done on transmission dynamics and the pathogens that affect tiger
salamanders. It is believed that numerous bacterial pathogens in high enough quantities and infecting
other tissues than they usually do can lead to death in tiger

Simply put that asking someone to commit to vote can increase the possibility they will. Also a while person thinks with the intent of commitment this influences person to vote. The ideas were primarily fabricated in the very beginning of our country. The propagandist role of any medium has changed just as much as the times have since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In contemporary America, film is the leading component of the propagation and detraction of the American dream. The film The Pursuit of Happyness (2005) supports the idea of the American dream our founding fathers set out. Wall Street (1987) on the other hand, supports and acts as a detractor of the true American dream and leads people to believe, what a lot of people already believe, that it is a dream to become monetarily ... Propaganda of the American dream in the earlier parts of our country was promoted through the ideas of our government and the known ability to be free. This eventually evolved into propaganda by entertainment such as posters, newspapers, film and anything that would reflect on a large audience . In this day in time, we get most of our propaganda through television. The cause of this is the increase in popularity of watching television or films over reading books. If this were not happening people may get their view of the American dream through literature ranging from the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin to Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn , which promote the American Dream as it was intended. • 10. The Crime Picture Differs From The Boy Crime, Picture, And... Youth who are accused of crimes are often older males. In fact, of all youth court cases reported in 2008 09, 72 percent involved males, while 21 percent involved females (Kong and AuCoin, 2008). The gender of the offender was not reported in seven percent of the cases. This paper will explain how the girl crime picture differs from the boy crime picture, and show the extent the differences that appear to be increasing/decreasing over time. While it is clear that females are accused of crimes less frequently than boys, the ratio shift depending on the type of crime. Girl Crime Picture Female youth account for just one out of every five people who are accused by the police in the Criminal Code offenses in Canada (Kong, 2008). This has been a reality for some time now. This low crime rate among females resulted in little being known about female offenders and their motives. The low rate also means women and girls who commit crimes face a Canadian criminal justice system that is primarily designed to deal with male offenders (Kong, 2008). It is precisely the relatively small number of women and girls who commit crimes that creates a need to regularly monitor trends in offending patterns among females, trends that become masked by the larger male population if not examined separately (Kong, 2008). Various crime prevention strategies can use the trends in female and male crime patterns. The information can be used to assess the responses by the justice and the social ... The letters that they write back to their home in Persia, discuss the European way of life in comparison to their own culture. Montesquieu uses the two travelers disorienting view of European culture as a way to criticize aspects of his own nation at the time. A major conflict in the book is how Uzbec s strong admiration for virtue and justice can be hypocritical and lead to destructive outcomes. Uzbec s virtue and justice is shown to be hypocritical through his actions. He goes on a trip to hide from his problems leaving his wives behind and forcing them to stay virtuous to him. As soon as the reader is introduced to George and Lennie Steinbeck tells us that, They had walked in single file down the path . There is also a sense of lack of trust in the relationship between the two men. We see this through the predicament with the work cards. It tells us that George again has to take care of Lennie, and that Lennie isn t trusted by George. Again this idea is portrayed to the reader on page seventeen, we notice that George knows that he needs a plan b as Lennie cannot be trusted so his plan b is to tell Lennie to hide in the brush until I come for you . • 16. Argumentative Essay On The Internet As technology begins to advance every day it starts to have a large impact on us humans, not only on just our lifestyle but also the way we prefer to receive information. In the novel The Shallows, by Nicholas Carr, he proclaims a biased argument about the internet consequently how it is changing our ability to think logically because we are choosing the easier route to gain knowledge. Additionally, argues that due to Google we lack our critical thinking skills causing less knowledge to be created. The Internet is designed to connect people on a personal and commercial level, on the other hand, Carr rejects that idea, moreover views it as making us individuals more shallow by using the Internet. Despite the benefits the internet has, it is degrading us and we don t even know it. The internet is constantly changing the way our brain works. Additional use of the internet causes our brains to decrease the attention span we have. We were all born with a blank slate of minds with a basic brain structure, though our synaptic (nerve cells) connect accordingly by experience. Cells that fire together wire together. (Carr 27). If animals learn through repetition, us humans might as well. The consistent usage of the internet to receive information quickly makes the human brain have a shorter attention span. Due to neuroplasticity, we are utilized to receiving information so quickly, when we are given something like a book, it makes it harder for us to understand the text since we ... Its purpose is to research basic biology and diseases and assessing the effectiveness of medicine for human use (About Animal Testing). Every year in the U.S., millions of animals are utilized as models in biological and medical research to study human disease, injury, development, psychology, as well as anatomy and physiology (Biomedical Research). All procedures, even those relegated as mild , have the potential to cause the animals physical suffering as well as psychological distress (About Animal Testing). Most animals are killed at the cessation of an experiment, but some may be reused in subsequent experiments. • 20. Essay on Physics of Bowling Aside from being one of the most accessible (and best!) sports out there, many aspects of bowling can be expressed with physics. Achieving maximum power, throwing a hook ball, and getting good pin action can all be broken down into physics issues and represented with equations. I will cover four aspects of bowling that can be explained with physics terms and show you how to use this knowledge to optimize your game. Gravitational Potential Energy Depending on the height from which the bowler drops the bowling ball, the ball will have a certain amount of potential energy. If the bowler bowls with a straight ball, the potential energy of the ball will not affect their game very much. It will, however, draw attention to the bowler when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The horizontal kinetic energy that remains after the ball has traveled down the lane is the energy that will be used to collide with the pins, so the bowler needs to make it count! The magnitude of the forces exerted in the horizontal and vertical directions can be calculated using trigonometry. The total magnitude of the force multiplied by the cosine of its angle with the horizon will calculate the horizontal force. Conversely, the total magnitude of the force multiplied by the sine of its angle with the horizon will calculate the vertical force. Friction, Hook Balls, and Direction of Impact When a bowler bowls with a hook ball, they are taking advantage of friction. A hook ball is when the ball goes about two thirds of the way down the lane before curving into the pins. Don t bowl against people who do this, they are usually very good. The lanes are oiled, producing a small coefficient of kinetic friction. Therefore, it takes a long time and a lot of torque on the ball to cause it to curve into the pins. The ball accelerates to the left or right as it catches what little friction it can. The reason most good bowlers bowl with a hook ball boils down to the direction of the collision with the pins. Throwing the ball straight down the lane, while easy to do, does not distribute the impact efficiently. Once in a while a straight ball bowler will get lucky and put a ... This comes to show that it would not difficult to distinguish a female from a male a red curly haired wig. Unless one is blind then one may have some trouble. However, it is not the case in this situation. Groucho is trying to make an excuse to contradict the Warner Brothers. 5) Marx offers so many examples of Brothers to create a sense of humor but also contradict the legal name accusation of the Warner Brothers. • 25. Essay about The Mirror Neuron and its Role in Action... Although the control of action in humans is fairly well understood, the processes that underlie action understanding from observation are much more unclear. In general, action understanding refers to the ability to recognize the purpose of an action performed by another person (Hickok 2008). Two prominent theories exist to explain this phenomenon. The first posits that action understanding is an inferential process that integrates contextual clues to determine the goal of a movement. In contrast, the second theory asserts that action understanding arises from the simulation of the observed action in the motor areas of the viewer (Brass et al. 2007). While the inferential process theory enjoyed a period of general acceptance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The researchers concluded that this indicated mirror neurons coded not just for action, but the goals of action. Kohler and colleagues (2007) expanded on this idea, showing that some neurons were activated with the mere sound of the result of an intended action (i.e. cracking a peanut). The authors asserted that this indicated that mirror neurons were so tuned to goals that the sound of an action reaching its goal was enough for the macaque to understand the entire action that would have been involved. The results of both studies were said to apply neatly to humans as well. That is, if action understanding is supported by the mirror neuron system of macaques, it is most likely supported by the human mirror neuron system (hMNS). There are two major problems with this view. First, it has been shown that human mirror neurons are much more broadly tuned than monkeys. There is not enough evidence to generalize macaque studies to humans in this way (Hickok 2008). Second, both of these studies fail to acknowledge that the activation of mirror neurons may have been the result, or a byproduct, of understanding rather than the cause. Their activity, then, may only have reflected understanding earlier in processing. If action understanding in humans is predominantly reliant on mirror neurons, then these neurons should respond preferentially to the ends of an action rather than the means; however, this is not the case. An interesting thought written about this very idea comes from Claudia Camp, a professor of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament at Texas Christian University. • 38. Analysis Of To A Louse By Robert Burns Itchy, tiny, and crawly are words that people use to describe a louse, but Robert Burns s poem To a Louse tells a different story. Although this poem has a rough exterior, the story should not be overlooked just because of the different writing style. The poem begins by telling the story of a little louse peeking out of a sophisticated woman s bonnet. The third person feels that this low life louse does not belong with a classy lady, but he should be among the beggars. Then, the poem ends pointing out that the woman is being acknowledged by the bug on her bonnet and not by her looks. The poem ends with a message in the last stanza saying To see oursels as ithers see us! (Burns). Understanding the summary of the poem, the story can be further explored by looking at the background and literary devices. In evaluating this poem, one can gain an insight on the historical context, irony, and how this literary device affects the audience s thoughts. Robert Burns uses this poem to give the reader an awareness of his life as a poor Scott at the time. This unique style of language was thought to be a result of Burns s upbringing. Around the time the poem was written, 1784 to 1786 Robert Burns struggled economically with his fam and used poetry as a distraction (Shairp). David Sampson in The Modern Language Review writes Initially his low birth and, in particular, his lack of a liberal education were regarded as disadvantages for which allowance had to be made in criticism (24). Robert Burns was someone with a low social class that many believed was why he writes in this style, but rather than being a disadvantage, people saw this as a way for Burns to be original and not influenced by poets prior to him (Sampson 25). This childhood could be a reason of why he points out the woman in gauze and lace to be vain. An article in the Scottish Literary Review writes She also conveys a strong impression of Burns s own thoughts about this process of poetic development, seeing in him an extraordinary instance of class anger, class denial and class bargaining on a grand scale (Andrews). (Dullabh) The second great attempt was in 1996, with the development of Community Health Information Networks (CHINs). Neither of these systems succeeded, because of the inherent problems which included setup and maintenance costs, competition, limited information sharing, transmission issues, and political support. (Dullabh) The next stage in health information exchange was Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs), a neutral third party organization that facilitates information exchange between providers within a geographical area to achieve more effective and efficient healthcare (HIE, persistent). RHIOs had political support, and became the basis and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Are You Familiar With The First Ten Amendments To The... Are you familiar with the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution? The Founders of our American government created the Bill of Rights to protect our individual liberties. They greatly believed in the significance of the overall creation of these particular rights, which happens to be the basic freedoms of us Americans. However, our government has compromised on these distinct liberties in the name of security and general welfare in various ways. To begin, the very first amendment to the United States Constitution grants citizens with the freedom of speech. The freedom of speech is generally the right to express your own opinion without restrictions. This typically includes the right not to speak if you do not want to, the right to advertise goods, products, and services, and even the right to use certain derogatory words and/or phrases to transfer political beliefs. However, citizens often get confused about what is actually granted within the right and what is not. For example, if you are in a public place with a good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The right to bear arms basically means that you have the right to any weapon that you desire and as many of them as you please. Also, you should be able to bring them with you wherever you choose to. This freedom has certain limits though. For instance, the government can actually place restrictions and have some constraints on certain weapons. There are also limits on when you can purchase these weapons and who has access to these specific firearms. In New York, special courts will be established for gun possession cases in order to cut gun crime as of January 2016. These limitations are generally put into action to secure the safety of the citizens. With that being said, one of the government s main goal is to protect their people. Therefore, they have to compromise to the rights that are granted in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Arthritis Case Study From the ward you are practicing in choose an operation that was done to patient for whom you have given nursing care. From your experience describe the indications and purpose for this operation and the salient post operative nursing care. Arthritis is one of the leading causes of femoral fractures especially in the elderly. It may also be caused by trauma or injury, starting from simple falls to more extensive such as a fall from height. Indeed, a femoral fracture affects hip movement as it forms the ball and socket joint. Those of who have a fractured hip should seek treatment immediately since it can damage surrounding tissue, alter physical mobility and, therefore, affect the quality of life. When mobility is likely to be altered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 45. The Species Richness Of Aquatic Macro Invertebrates Among... Figure 1. The species richness of aquatic macro invertebrates among three stream types. The same number of species was found in the forest and urban streams. There was an insignificantly higher number of species found in the agriculture stream. Figure 2. The biotic index of the three types of streams was calculated by the sum of total tolerance values divided by the sum of total number of individuals. The forest stream had the lowest FBI value, followed by the urban stream and the agriculture stream. Figure 3. The relative frequency of the functional feeding groups of each stream type. The total number of individuals for each stream was 368, 1334, and 510 for the forest, agriculture, and urban streams, respectively. The major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, there is a trend in the number of species found in each stream type based on the riparian habitat. As the amount of organic pollution increased, there should have been a decrease in the species richness of the streams. Species richness also has an effect on the processing of leaf material. Less species richness due to organic pollution forces the litter breakdown to be dependent on microbial activity rather than shredders (Masese et al. 2014). In addition, microbial breakdown of leaf litter is accelerated by the presence of nutrients, which is high in agricultural streams (Masese et al. 2014). Therefore, the species richness of the agricultural stream should have been low and leaf processing would be controlled by bacteria. Although the agricultural stream had the highest species richness, the relative frequency of shredders was very low compared to the other functional feeding groups shown in Figure 3. Likewise, due to the organic pollution present in urban streams, it would be expected to have a low species richness and thus any leaf material would be processed by microbes as well. Furthermore, the forest stream should have had the highest species richness, which would in turn impact leaf processing by having the shredders drive leaf litter breakdown rather than microbes. The Family Biotic Index describes the water quality of a stream by averaging the tolerance values of all the individuals that were sampled (Hilsenhoff 1988). Based on the equation, ... • 46. Urinary Obstruction Case Study Urinary Obstruction, Pediatric Urinary obstruction happens when something blocks the passage of urine from the body. The blockage may be in any of the following places: The kidneys. CAUSES Causes include: Birth defects. Kidney stones. Blood clots. Scar tissue. • 47. Blood tests. Urine tests. TREATMENT Treatment depends on the cause of the urinary obstruction and its severity. In some cases, the problem corrects itself as the child grows and develops. In other cases, treatment can involve: The placement of a soft plastic tube (stent) into the blocked ureter. The stent will keep the ureter open and allow urine to flow more normally. The placement of a drainage tube into a kidney. The tube will allow urine to drain into a container outside the body. Surgery to fix the problem causing the obstruction. Antibiotic medicine to treat an infection or to help prevent infection. HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS Give medicines only as directed by your child s health care provider. If your child was prescribed an antibiotic medicine, have him or her finish it all even if he or she starts to feel better. Have your child drink enough fluid to keep his or her urine clear or pale yellow. SEEK MEDICAL CARE IF: Your child has a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Ellen Craft Essay Four million African American women were slaves in the years between 1619 between 1865 (Sterling 3). Slave women did not keep diaries and hardly wrote letters thus it is so hard for historians to track their lives. Black women were the most exploited working force. Ellen Craft was a great woman, she overcame the biggest struggle of her life during hard times for an African American women. a. Personal Data: Geographical birth, life, school, death where buried if possible. In 1826 a woman named Ellen Smith was born in Clinton Georgia. Ellen was purchased as a child to be trained as a house wench this involved cooking scrubbing and lots of other tasks that made up women s work. However, most of time she spent as a nurse to the Smith children. At age eleven she got a new master, in Macon Georgia, who was married to Eliza Smith daughter of James Smith. Ellen Smith became a good seamstress. Due to her skills as a seamstress she was able to get hired out for work as long as she gave a certain percentage to her master. She was not the only slave in Macon that was allowed to get hired out. In fact it was somewhat common for slaves to get hired out for their skills. This gave the slaves more freedom and on Sundays, during Christmas, and New Year s they threw parties. This possibly could have been where Ellen met William craft who was an apprentice in a ... Travers was a renowned author, especially her book Mary Poppins; even till now this book is consider a classic to all of us. One of the reason why I selected this movie out of all the other recommendations, it is mainly because I love both the actor (Tom Hanks) and the actress (Emma Thompson), they were definitely the best candidate to portray Disney and Travers. Another reason is, both Mary Poppins and anything Disney related, are my favorites since I was a child. As for this movie, it shows a little more realistic side of film industry, and how it requires a lot of different teams to produce an all time favorite movie; the Marry ... • 50. When we think of cannibalism, our minds immediately turn... When we think of cannibalism, our minds immediately turn to gruesome pictures of humans eating other humans or fictional characters that feast upon the flesh of other living people (especially with a nice chianti and fava beans). Though cannibalism may not be a common occurrence among humans, it is a fairly widespread practice upon many other species of the animal kingdom. This paper will explore the behavior of cannibalism in the tiger salamander (Ambystoma tigrinum) a major fitness cost of cannibalism in these organisms: pathogen transmission. Cannibalism is operationally defined as the ingestion of all or part of a conspecific, and is taxonomically widespread amongst many vertebrate and invertebrate groups; however, it is extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most normal morphs feed on invertebrates, whereas cannibal morphs eat a wider range of prey including conspecific and heterospecific larvae. Since tiger salamanders breed in ephemeral ponds, it is believed that environmental cues influence the frequency of cannibal morphs in a population. These cues can include high intraspecific density that leads to resource competition, pathogen and/or parasite densities in the habitat, etc. (Brunkow and Collins, 1996; Collins et al., 2003; Denoel et al., 2006; Maret and Collins, 1997; Pfennig, 1991, 1998). Most current research on cannibalism in tiger salamanders focuses on kin selection and kin recognition strategies. However, within the past twenty years more research has begun to focus on the cost of pathogen transmission on cannibalism in tiger salamanders. This seems to be due to the increased amphibian population declines due to pathogens and because it seems to be the biggest fitness cost to cannibalistic salamanders, when compared to the other mentioned above (Parris et al., 2005; Pfennig, 1997). Through the current research, the rest of this paper will explore pathogen transmission and how it affects cannibalism in tiger salamanders. First we will survey some research done on transmission dynamics and the pathogens that affect tiger salamanders. It is believed that numerous bacterial pathogens in high enough quantities and infecting other tissues than they usually do can lead to death in tiger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
