A Research on Team and Group Communication Processes
Team and Group Communication Processes:
The systematic description on the nature of the processes of communication in several areas
including businesses and organizations is known as communication theory. Organizations and
businesses are required to understand the concept of communication theory because the
achievement of organizational and business goals is dependent on effective communication.
Communication theory focuses on examining the process of transmitting information from the
sender to the receiver. Furthermore, communication theory analyzed the various means for transfer
of information from one medium to the other. As people across the globe have been working with
several communication theories, these theories provide an abstract understanding of the process of
communication.
A theoretical explanation of communication processes is usually provided when professionals
across various fields talk about their communication strategies, types, and effectiveness (Dainton,
2004). In the healthcare sector, primary health care team members and other caregivers or service
providers are usually required to communicate effectively with one another in order to enhance the
quality of service. This is largely because there is a direct relationship between communication and
team or group effectiveness.

on teamwork, groups or teams work more effectively when all members actively

Importance Of Governmental Roles With Criminals
Governmental role with criminals
The due process is to be known as the official and proper way of doing things in a legal case: the
rule that a legal case must be done in a way that protects the right of all the people involved. When
the governmental forces take custody of an individual based on the due process they take freedoms
away. This means that The criminal is no longer free of doing anything that relates with anyone
else, they have no constitutional rights what so ever but, they are protected by the constitutional
prohibition and cruel and unusual punishment. The state laws govern and administrate prisons a

A Hectic Schedule Analysis
A Hectic Schedule The term struggle is used frequently amongst the teenagers of this generation.
It is commonly used for almost every job which is not appealing. They say life is such a struggle
which is a true statement, but it is such a broad statement it has different meaning for every
individual. My struggle in life is time management. Sophomore year was not too hectic for me
as I was taking honors classes and deeply involved in Asian and Pacific Islander Club. I was also
in the musical which taught me how to balance my school life and after school curriculars even
more. I also committed to volunteer at PAST E for a few months after school. With my
experience of balancing school life and activities sophomore year, I thought it would be fun to
add more extra curriculars to my schedule. At the end of my sophomore year I applied to be the
head chairwoman of the diversity and community committees as I believed I had good attributes
of leading these communities. I wanted to give back to the CC community. I was denied both
positions, but the diversity committee called me back after a day within the interviews. I accepted
it graciously even though I was warned there would be a lot of extra work. In addition to accepting
a leadership role, I also committed myself... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to my newfound extracurricular activities, I was also taking two AP classes. I knew
that four AP/honors classes would be difficult and work demanding, but little did I know how
difficult it would be on top of student council. I would wake up at 6:00 in the morning, leave my
house at 6:20, and arrive at school in time for student council meetings which begin at 7. After
school ended, I would go to cross country practice and would come home just in time for dinner. I
would work on homework for hours before finally sleeping in order to get up to begin the same
routine all over

Match Point Aristotle
Recipe for Tragedy Aristotle, who was one of the greatest philosophers of Ancient Greece,
analysed the different elements of tragedies and the ideal form for tragic plays. He also came up
with the definition, which stated that a tragic play would need to have six elements to be
successful. Aristotle felt that the plot and characters are the most important elements in a tragic
play. However, thought, diction, spectacle and melody must also be done well to make a
successful play. Match Point is an example of a modern tragic film that follows Aristotle s
elements. The plot had peripety, which is the change from one state to another at the beginning to
the exact opposite at the end, and unity of plot. The characters were believable and consistent and
the melody blended in with the film. These elements will be... Show more content on

Before important events the music would play to signal that something important was going to
happen. Before Chris murders Nola, the opera music started playing so we know that something
significant was going to happen. It was also blended in very well with the scene to make it more
dramatic and suspenseful. Also, when Chris threw the old ladies ring, the music started to play.
This also made it more suspenseful and dramatic because the music was blended into the scene
and signifies the importance of the scenes it is played in. Match Point is a perfect example of a
modern tragedy. The film fits all of the criteria and elements that Aristotle thought had to be in a
tragic play. The plot was unified and all of the scenes was based on one main issue and Chris state
changed from happiness to a state of misery. Chris character was very believable and was never out
of character. The music blended in with the scenes to make the film even more suspenseful and
dramatic. Aristotle s elements truly are the criteria for a well made and successful

Evergreen Naturals Market Essay
Case Evergreen Natural Markets 1. What makes Evergreen Natural Markets successful? There were
numerous factors that contributed towards the constant success of Evergreen Natural Markets. The
company s methodology towards growth and expansion is one of the integral factors. Where most
companies seek to grow by re investing their profits back into their businesses (ploughing back),
Evergreen adopted a more radical approach by acquiring other competing companies or companies
that show potential of growing rapidly. Evergreen designed a strategy that was twofold in nature.
By bringing in rival companies under the Evergreen umbrella, the approach simply eliminated any

One was the fresh infusion of capital and administrative support provided by Evergreen.
Evergreen offered increased investment opportunities by providing the capital, human resources,
and other assistance. The second factor was an advantage of working under a larger company that
allows one to work without much competition from the outside. 3. How well does the acquisition
of Arugula Grocers align with Evergreen s established approach to integrating new stores? What
modifications, if any, should Norton make? The acquisition of Aragula Grocers is an
advantageous addition to the Evergreen group as it offered new opportunities in Nevada, Las
Vegas. However, several modifications would serve to improve the situation in their relations.
Firstly, Mrs. Norton should introduce more effective communication measures that will ensure that
the link between Evergreen and Aragula Grocers is not severed. It was discovered that the link
between these two parties was weak, and this will lead to confusion and dilution of the vision of
the mother company. Secondly, Norton also needed to rectify the financial status of the store
before investing in it seriously. Aragula Grocers was acquired amid a series of financial issues and
complications that showed signs of mismanagement. Adopting these problems will lead to failure
of the store and eventually, losses for Evergreen. Mrs. Norton should also consider making

Family history is something most people do not know much about. This is unfortunate because
some people do not or are unable to value their families past. Family history is important for many
different reasons. It can be used to meet family members a person never knew about and for
educational purpose. I was fortunate enough to have my grandparents still alive to tell me about
their great grandparents and grandparents. I never truly understand how interesting and important it

Children were working as young as seven sometimes even younger. Children were also missing
school for work and working long debilitating hours. Children often worked in factories because
they were small and more children could fit intern this would lead to more work getting done.
Children also had smaller hands and this allowed them to fix machines if they were broken.
However, machines are dangerous and would sometimes injure or cut off a hand or finger of a
child. In present day there are many laws benefiting how many hours a child can work based on
their age. The federal child labor provisions, authorized by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
of 1938, also known as the child labor laws, were enacted to ensure that when young people
work, the work is safe and does not jeopardize their health, well being or educational
opportunities. These provisions also provide limited exemptions (U.S. Dept. of child labor). Child
labor laws are now in place to protect children while they work. Children can now work safely and

The Gettysburg Address Essay
The Gettysburg Address is one of the most famous speeches known by America. Jackie
Fredericks states, November 19, 1863 On this day, President Abraham Lincoln gave a very short
speech that is now one of the most famous in the English language. (Fredericks). This speech has
many messages throughout it. The message of unity and that we all need to be united as one.
Acceptance, knowing that you who you are and others need to accept you and you need to accept
others. And death, realizing that it will happen and you cannot get away from it, be prepared, but
live your life to the fullest. There are three important messages from The Gettysburg Address, by
Abraham Lincoln. The first message in The Gettysburg Address is unity. We are all one country,
one world, we should all be treated the same. Whites and blacks are equal, no discrimination. In
The Gettysburg Address, Lincoln states, ...We cannot dedicate we cannot consecrate we cannot
hallow this ground. (539). All he says is we as in one. All be united as one with no problems, no
one is better than anybody else. Graham D. Burnett states, It is the unity of all forms of human
knowledge, their imminent jumping together or consilience. (Burnett). There would be more peace

amazing and there would be no harm. In The Gettysburg Address, Lincoln states, It is altogether
fitting and proper that we should do this. (539). The people are accepting that those men have died
and they will have a ceremony and then they will go on with their lives. They will accept what

The Invention Of Lightning Rod
When the only tool you have is a hammer, all problems begin to resemble nails (Abraham
Maslow). How might this apply to ways of knowing, as tools, in the pursuit of knowledge? It is
possible that if we do not use Ways of Knowing in a too contracted and consistent way, it may
limit the expanse and form of knowledge we are able to acquire. When attempting to acquire
knowledge, one must have assets that will assist the process of solving issues. To a certain
degree, Ways of Knowing are not sufficient tools in the process of acquiring knowledge that will
assist one in solving problems because too much information comes with each Way of Knowing.
Areas of Knowledge such as human sciences and history can aid the focus of the Ways of Knowing
reason and perceptionwhere you can only acquire relevant information necessary to solve problems.
It can be said that originally technology was invented to improve the lives of the human race. For
instance, the invention of lightning rod in the year 1752 where Benjamin Franklin s electricity
experiments lead him to a valuable application the lightning rod, which when placed at the apex of
a barn, church steeple, or other structure, conducts lightning bolts harmlessly into the ground
(PBS). Although technology is not a reality for everyone in the world, for instance, the Amish, it
can be said that technology has improved quality of life for many. Benjamin Franklin s discovery
of electricity has led to not only enhanced methods of

to Jewish people in the 1940s. He had a very hard life in the 6 year time duration he spent in the

in 1939 and ended in 1945. In those 6 years he went on two death marches and went to eight

The World Of Doublespeak By William Lutz
In William Lutz s essay The World of Doublespeak, from Christopher Ricks s and Lenonard
Micheal s anthology State of the Language, he examines the art of doublespeak. This essay is
meant to enlighten people on different uses of doublespeak and how organizations and others use it
to mislead. Lutz begins by defining doublespeakas A blanket term for language which pretends to
communicate but doesn t, language which makes the bad seem good, the negative appear positive,
the unpleasant attractive, or at least tolerable (278). Specifically, people who use doublespeak
pretend to convey a certain message while in reality they do the exact opposite. The author gives
examples of doublespeak that affect the way people think; for example, he... Show more content on

At its length, Lutz s article proves how frequent doublespeak and its tactics are used to manipulate
a situation. After reading this essay, it has become obvious to me that doublespeak has been used
on and around me throughout my life. This article has taught me to analyze and investigate phrases
that are convoluted or meaninglessly complicated. His paper teaches readers to ignore useless
information and strip phrases down to what they truly mean. Through Lutz s use of numerous
historical and personal examples, he effectively argues his opinion on the negative uses of
doublespeak. Younger audiences who are often confused or misled by the various tactics of
doublespeak and have a challenging time listening to and understanding political conversations
would highly benefit from this article. In order to understand doublespeak, one must first
understand why speakers use it and what effects it has on the public. Professionals use doublespeak
to deceive because it distorts reality in favor of the speaker, it confuses and corrupts the audiences
thinking, and it avoids responsibility.
One of the most crucial reasons people in positions of power utilize doublespeak is to twist the
reality of a negative situation to their audiences. William J. Kopple, professor and department
cochairman of English at Calvin College, is author of the paper Still Vigilant about Doublespeak?
featured in the Language Arts Journal of Michigan, in which he remarks, It is doublespeakers sole

Voting Age
Throughout the years, younger generations have been given more and more oppurtunities to
engage in tasks previously only adults could do. Voting is one such task that should stay with the
older generation. Recently, many people have been advocating for the voting age to be lowered
from its current status of 18 down to 16. They say this because the percentage of eligible voters
that are actually participating is at an all time low. However, decreasing the votingage will just
enhance this issue. Furthermore, people who are under the age of 18 tend to be iresponsible and
tend to make rash, uninformed decisions. We need an older wiser generation to make the decisions,
not the young ones.
First, let s lay the argument of the percentage

Ronaldo s Acceptance Of Goods By Benjamin
5.Ronaldo s acceptance of goods by Benjamin
Here arises the issue of whether Benjamin had the authority to sale the cargo to Ronaldo. It can be
claimed that there are two opinions on this subject.
On the one hand Benjamin never became lawful holder of the shipment under s.19(3) of SOGA
1979 and as a result he had no right on the goods property. This fact and in combination with
s.21(1) gives no property to Ronaldo.
On the other hand Ronaldo can rely on s.25(1), as Benjamin did not notice him regarding his
previous transaction with Maurice. Benjamin got the cargo from Maurice in good faith33, which
also happened with Ronaldo receiving the same Bill of Lading from Benjamin in line with the
definitions given in s.2(1) s.2(4), paying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, if we take the view that property had not passed to Benjamin, then s.39(2) also
gives Maurice the right of stoppage of the goods as s.41(c) s.44 confirm that the unpaid seller
Maurice has exercisable rights on the goods. However, what confuses the case is that Benjamin
had already sold the cargo to Ronaldo. If Maurice had taken action against Benjamin prior to the
re sale, then no such issue would have arisen, as the property would be an issue between these two
parties which means that Maurice could exercise his aforementioned rights against him , but now a
third person has the title of the goods and has nothing to do with the conflict between Benjamin
and Maurice since he acted in good faith. Accordingly, under s.43(1)(b) Maurice s rights on the
cargo cease to exist, since Ronaldo lawfully obtained the bill of lading by Benjamin. In support of
his statement s.47(2)(a) also provides that no lien, retention or stoppage can be exercised on the
consignment.
To sum up, since the action against Benjamin was effected after Ronaldo had acquired the title of
the goods, Maurice had no right on the cargo.

The Theory Of Needs Theories And How An Individual s...
Motivation is the influence or drive for an individual to perform a specific act. In the past many
theorists have scrutinised the concept of needs theories and how an individual s human
behaviour works in order for them to be motivated. However it has also been a very heavy topic
considering different theorists have judged one another s perception on the notion of
motivating factors. In the past centuries, theorists have critically analysed the ways in which
individuals are best motivated. A well known psychologist Maslow (1943) believed that there
are five levels of needs in order for an individual to be fully motivated. His focus is more on the
positive needs of employees. From the Bottom of the pyramid comes the physiological needs or
in other words basic needs, which consist of necessities such as food, water, health and things
that any human starts with. He stresses on the notion of homeostasis as part of these needs, the
body s automatic efforts to maintain a constant, normal state of the bloodstream (Maslow
1943,p.270). When satisfied, they tend to search for safety needs; these can be considered as
job security. Such acts are moving from a job to a much safer one or even one that have long
term contracts. People will then look at the next level of social needs, to be ultimately recognised
by others, and to just fit in the workforce. The next level is the esteem needs, to feel good about
ones self, and to be praised by those higher on the organisational hierarchy.

A Critical Analysis Of Technological Disruption Essay
A Critical Analysis of Technological Disruption in the Book Industry In the last decade, content
industries have experienced massive technological disruption. From streaming services such as
Netflix and Spotify to online newspaper subscriptions and e readers, technology has forced
these industries to experiment with different models and adapt to consumers changing
expectations. The United States publishing industry is worth about 27 billion dollars with over
1 million books published in 2009 (Campbell et al., 2016, p. 53). While books were traditionally
a print product made in either a hardcover or softcover format, modern e readers such as Amazon

industry has changed in the last decade since the Kindle was introduced. Then, I will analyze trends
between the book industry and other industries that face similar technological disruption. Then, I
will provide broader societal context for those trends and interpret their meaning. Finally, I will

Analysis Of The Literary Works Of Bash ЕЊ, Khayyam, And Tagore
The World is an Image
Image, as a word, originates from Latin imago which means to imitate (Varshney 86). Hence,
imagery in literature is an artificial imitation of the external form of an object (Varshney 86). In
other words, an image is a form of expressing thoughts and feelings through representing reality by
employing visual expressions. In the literary works of BashЕЌ, KhayyГЎm, and Tagore, natural
imagery play a fundamental role in illustrating inner thoughts, vocalizing silent feelings, and
dramatizing frozen emotions. A good deal of Western scholarship on the works of BashЕ
Ќ, Omar
KhayyГЎm, and Tagore describe the employment(s) of imagery (among other literary techniques)
in their poems and prose as avant grade, which minimizes the literary traditions of the East and
narrowly historicizes the notion of avant grade. If avant grade, as a western concept, means
expressing thoughts and emotions through unorthodox or untraditional approaches, then it cannot
be applied to the works of Basho, Khayyam, and Tagore without ignoring the literary past. As
Kawamoto declares, nothing is absolutely new it can be new only when it is compared to

Portnoy’s Complaint is a Story of a Jewish Bachelor by...
Portnoy s Complaint by Philip Roth tells the story of a perverse mama s boy Jewish bachelor, who
confesses to his psychoanalyst all of his complaints and struggles. Topics mentioned in the book
include the experiences of assimilated American Jews, the relationship between American Jews and
Jews of Israel, and the characteristics of being part of a Jewish family. Portnoy s Complaint fits
right in within Jewish comedy traditions, especially within the time period of its debut. Roth s
novel reads like a classic Stand up routine. As Portnoy himself calls it The Alexander Portnoy
Show! The character of Alexander Portnoy personifies the relevant humor found in Jewish
tradition. The character of Alexander Portnoy represents the classic Jewish stigma of the
Schlemiel. According to Sanford Pinsker in his book, The Schlemiel as Metaphor, the schlemiel
embodied the negative qualities of weaknesses that had to be ridiculed in order to be overcome
within Jewish life. Pinsker describes the Schlemiel as one whom looks upon their disabilities as
peripheral sufferings, sustained through no fault of their own, and is seen as a model of
perseverance. An example of Portnoy as a schlemiel is when he talked about his favorite activity,
masturbation. Portnoy violates all modesty by speaking in detail about his masturbation and
mentioning all the places he has left his semen. The greatest memory that Portnoy shared that
emphasizes his schlemiel like persona was the time when he recited

Ursula Le Guin Challenges Utilitarianism
Ursula Le Guin challenges utilitarianism in The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by describing
a fictional utopic city where everyone flourishes at the expense of a young child trapped in a
basement. This fictional utopic city is a metaphor for utilitarianism at its absolute worse, since
trapping an innocent child in a basement for the flourishing of others seems like a grotesque thing
to do. Also, Guin is portraying utilitarianism as unethical by vividly describing the innocent beings
constant suffering, appealing to the readers empathy. Lastly, Guin implies that those who look for
the best possible outcomes at the expense of the innocent are unjust, and that one has a moral
obligation to walk away from cruelty. Guin further challenges Utilitarianism

Essay On Bulimia Nervosa
Bulimia Nervosa is another eating disorder discussed in the DSM 5 (2013), that is most
prevalent in later adolescence and young adulthood in females (p. 437). In order for one to be
diagnosed, one must meet four criterion. Criteria A is recurrent episodes of binge eating
characterized by the following; eating in a discrete period of time (2 hours), and amount of
food that is larger than most individuals would eat in a similar period and the second a sense of
lack of control over eating during the episode (DSM v, 2013, p. 346). Women who are bulimic
tend to eat a vast amount of food in a short period of time just to purge as a result. This intensity
it of consuming, must happen in a moderate amount of time in order to be considered bulimic.
Better understood by Abraham (2008) she states, an episode of binge eating occurs when the
woman s resistance to eating fails and she has an irresistible desire to eat (p. 280). This type of
behavior represents a sense of lack of control. Women who binge have a hard time stopping and
controlling what and how much they are consuming.
Unlike Anorexia Nervosa, individuals with bulimia have the capability of recognizing when they
are wrong. Bulimics are typically ashamed of their behaviors and can ... Show more content on

Although some characteristics may exist in both disorders, there is certain criterion that makes
them distinct. The huge distinction between the two is the inappropriate compensatory behavior
that Bulimics exhibit (DSM V, 2013). In other words, people who binge eat don t necessarily
result in getting rid of the food afterward. Another differential diagnosis would be someone who
is Anorexia nervosa, binge eating /purging types. As stated in the DSM V (2013), these types of
behaviors can look similar to one who is bulimic in the beginning stage of someone who is

I Sat Down For A Discussion With One Of The Attorneys At...
In August 2016, I sat down for a discussion with one of the attorneys at Hotze Runkle, Justin
Dunlap. Mr. Dunlap had just joined the firm a month earlier as part of the firm s expansion into
pharmaceutical litigation, an area of practice that he has had years of experience prior to joining
the firm. He graciously took the time one afternoon to sit down and allow me to conduct an
interview with him. First, I asked him to discuss his educational background and how he began to
practice law. Mr. Dunlap, a native of the Dallas area, completed his undergraduate degree at the
University of Kansas where he studied history. He said that while he thoroughly enjoyed his
degree program s content, he did not see a future career for him with history and given that many
of his older family members, including his mother, were practicing lawyers, law schoolseemed to
him to be a natural next step for him. He returned to Dallas to get his law degree from Southern
Methodist University (SMU). He said that, he felt extremely lucky that his parents were able to
help finance his legal education, so finances were not a major factor in his law school decision.
When I asked him how he came to choose SMU, he indicated that the two most prominent factors
were the location in the state he wished to practice and the school s estimable reputation in Texas
and the surrounding states. Mr. Dunlap told me that once he got to law school, he was sure that he
wanted to work for the JAG Corps once he was

Eu Law Of The European Union
EU LAW
(i) The actions that might be brought by Rochelle and Neil in the national courts
With regard to the actions that might be brought by Rochelle and Neil in the national courts
when it comes to the matter of complaints about the law of the European Union s (henceforth, the
EU s) application, it has generally been recognised that if an individual is recognised as being a
national of a Member State, lives in a Member State, or if they run a business in the EU then the
law of the Union provides parties like Rochelle and Neil with a number of rights. However, if
individuals like Rochelle and/or Neil feel that their rights under the law of the EU in the form of a
Directive and a Regulation in this instance respectively have not been respected by a Member State
like the UK s national authorities then it is first necessary to bring the matter before those
authorities for the purpose of resolution before having to resort to the European Court of Justice
(henceforth, the ECJ) for this purpose. This is because it has generally been recognised that this
will typically be both the most effective and efficient means to bring about the resolution of any
matters of concern raised by parties like Rochelle and/or Neil when it comes to the interpretation
and application of the law of the EU.
Such an understanding of the position in this regard is evidenced by the fact that the law of the EU

City Of Threadful Delight Analysis
Response Papers Judith R. Walkowitz wrote the novel City of Dreadful Delight that took place
in London in the nineteenth century. During this time there was a large wealth gap between the
rich and poor citizens, creating the imaginary landscape because of how the upper and middle
classes viewed the city of London and how the citizens liked to focus on others problems to
forget about there own. The author also compares how upper and middle class writers and
reformers viewed East and West London. Walkowitz studied upper and middle class authors and
how they created the imaginary landscape. She does this by using Henry James who had just
arrived in London in 1876. Henry was an artist, author, and a wealthy upper class bachelor.
Walkowitz shows how the city provided a place of escape and fantasy. But the streets of London
offered him freedom and imaginative delights (15 Walkowitz). London was such a massive city that
within the city it had neighborhoods of very different social and economic status. These writers
pointed out that it was difficult for the low income citizens to make a living because of the high
unemployment rate (31 Walkowitz).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Contemporary Style Interior Design Essay
Key elements of contemporary style interior design
Quite often modern and contemporary style interior design are considered as similar or even
identical. But this is common mistake, and these are two different styles each having its own
history and distinctive features. In this article, we will find out what characteristics contemporary
style interior has, and how to use this style to make room comfortable, functional and cozy.
First, it should be noted that contemporary style was formed in the second half of the twentieth
century, and it has adopted certain features of other styles, which were widespread at that time. In a
broad sense contemporary means living and occurring in this moment, here and now . That is why

Silk, velvet, wool or linen are used in bedroom design to make contemporary interior more cozy

The main elements remain the same: they are simple lines, open spaces and large windows.
Preferable materials are wood, metal, stone and glass.
Certainly, the central element of any bedroom is bed. In contemporary bedroom, it should be large
and comfortable, guaranteeing good rest and sleep.
Contemporary style bathroom
Contemporary style bathrooms are filled with relaxing atmosphere, which helps to calm down at
the end of the day and to get your charge of cheerfulness in the morning. The main tendencies here
are naturality, energy savings and modern innovations. Contemporary style in bathroom design
aspires to minimalism, which allows to create laconic and fresh interiors.
Contemporary design may have not very alive and welcoming look. That s why no interior can stay
without any decor. Huge popularity have oversized modern paintings, different unusual statues and

Loss Of Leadership In Lord Of The Flies
Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.
Henry Ford (Brainyquote) In the Novel Lord of the Flies the boys come together, keep together,
but then begin to become completely unglued. The boys come together at the start of the Novel
when an election is held. This is the first time all of the boys on the island meet. Ralph wins the
election by a landslide against Jack. Although, Jack wants to be the leader of the boys because he
is already the leader of the choirboys, however the boys don t select him. This causes a divide on
the island, but doesn t cause any problems yet. This foreshadows what will happen later in chapters
four and five when the boys start to become divided. In this essay, the... Show more content on

The boys don t want to be told what to do. This is not only true in the book but is a simple fact of
adolescence. For example, the American Academy of Pediatrics states that, From time to time
most children defy the wishes of their parents. This is a part of growing up and testing adult
guidelines and expectations. It is one way for children to learn about and discover their own
selves, express their individuality, and achieve a sense of autonomy. (American Academy of
Pediatrics) The same goes for Lord of the Flies. The reader can think of Ralph as the parent who
has the best interest for his son/daughter and Jack as his/her s disobedient troubled friend. In
Lord of the Flies the boys are at a stage where the disobedient troubled friend has a significant
pull compared to the knowledgeable parent. The friend s opinion can trump the parent s in real
life and does in Lord of the Flies when in chapter 8 some boys leave Ralph for Jack. This is
concerning and is one of the main conflicts in Lord of the Flies. The loss of leadership was
inevitable for Ralph because the boys are at a point in their life where they cannot exercise good
judgement. For example, Jack is over the moon telling Ralph and the boys about how he killed a pig
. Ralph who has better judgement has to remind Jack and say, There was a ship (Golding, 75) This
shows that Jack and the hunters do not have a good sense of judgement because they don t do the

Lenin s Legacy Of The Soviet Revolution
Lenin s Legacy
History will not forgive Revolutionaries for procrastinating when they could be victorious today,
while they risk losing much tomorrow, in fact, they risk losing everything (Vladimir Lenin. Call to
Power). Lenin was a persistent Russian ruler who wished to instill his communist views in Russian
society at all costs. He was influential in motivating his followers to rise up and overthrow Russia s
weak government which lead to the reformation of Russia s weak economy. Although Lenin faced
opposing forces from the West, he was able to institute a number of reforms which boosted Russia
s broken economy and led to the transformation of Russia from a war struck country into an
economically stable power, prior to his death.
Prior to Lenin coming into power, Russia s corrupt government was stuck in a state of war with
Germany along with other Western European powers which ultimately led to the revolts of angry
Russians due to famine and political issues. The Russo Japanese war began the first Russian
revolution in 1905 when Russia suffered a tragic loss on the battlefield (Vladimir Lenin. World
History). The Russian loss to Japan forced the government to give up on its expansionist policy
resulting in the government losing its followers. This was the most devastating defeat Russia has
ever faced to a non European force and proved Czar Nicholas unfit to rule the nation. To restore
order within the society, Czar Nicholas instituted the October Manifesto, which

Persuasive Speech On Whale Captivity
How would you feel if you were a killer whale performing in front of thousands of people? For
many years people have argued if killer whales should be kept in captivity or not. Blackfish, a
documentary on Seaworld and killer whales, had argued with Seaworld against whale captivity.
Killer whale captivity must be banned because whales can get ill or injured, they can be dangerous
to humans, and they can get separated from their families. Killer whalescaptivity is a major issue
because they could become sick or injured there. According to Blackfish, orca whales in captivity
tend to become hyper aggressive towards new whales. This results in whaleon whale incidents
where the whales can get severely injured, or can even die. Some examples of these incidents, as
The Dodo has said, are a male whale named Nakai had his chin torn off in a fight. Additionally, a
female whale named Kandu broke her own jaw and cut her artery in a fight, eventually bleeding
to death. Her calf was circling around her during the event. In addition, the Huffington Post
states, animals may suffer from captivity related stresses that lower their resistance and make
them more susceptible to disease, making lifespans in captivity significantly lower than in the
wild. To add on, The Dodo states, One big issue was the terrible state of the orcas teeth. Captive
orcas are already at risk for dental trauma bored and stressed, they often begin gnawing on the
edges of their tanks. They also state that these occurrences in the wild are very rare. Also, whales
like Tilikum got a lung infection due to bacterial pneumonia, which is the most common reason
why captive whales and dolphins die (according to Wikipedia). Tilikum had also died due to the
disease. This indicates that whale captivity leads to many incidents and diseases that the whales
would not have faced in the wild. All these problems are caused due to them being captive. Orca
captivity is also dangerous for human beings. For example, Tilikum was the cause of the death of
3 people as shown in Blackfish. First, he and 2 other whales drowned Keltie Byrne, who had
slipped into the pool. She was screaming and tried to escape, but the whales pulled her back and
drowned her. Then, a

Cost of Capital for Lodging is 13.24%.
The WA Bu of today s lodging industry is slightly higher than that in 1987, indicating a slight
increase in the business risk associated with the industry.
Cost of Capital for Restaurant Division was calculated in the same manner. The 1 year T bill
was used as a usual shorter term security to obtain the risk free rate. The unleveraged Beta, used
to obtain the leveraged Beta for the CAPM, was once again the weighed average of the
unleveraged B s of the restaurant industry representatives given in the case. However, the
restaurants given for the calculation were mostly fast food chains while Marriott operates rather
middle level restaurants. Today s WA Bu of the middle class and upper class restaurants appeared
to be slightly higher indicating that the overall cost of capital for Marriott s restaurant division
should be slightly higher. The cost of capital for the restaurant division is 14.85%.
Cost of Capital for Contracting Services Division was also calculated through the above methods.
However, the unleveraged Beta could not be calculated in the same way as for the two other
divisions due to the absence of the comparable businesses from which the unleveraged Betas (Bu)
could be obtained. Consequently, the Bu was back factored from the relationship between the
divisional Bu s (or Buc contracting, Bul lodging, and Bur restaunrants ) and the company Bu (or

Biography of Vincent Van Gogh Essay

was made. Some people find an interest in certain paintings while others may not find that exact

Van Gogh s friend, Gauguin, would join him, but things were not going to be for the best.
Towards the end of the year of 1888, a tragic accident would cause Gaugin to leave the town of

open razor. During the process, Gaugin would eventually try to stop Van Gogh, but
unfortunately he would only end up just cutting a portion of his own ear lobe off. Vincent than
later became acting out of character which would then lead up to the point where he would be
sent off to an asylum in the town of Saint Remy in order for him to seek to professional help.
Even though Van Gough was raised into a religious environment, he was also raised in a strict
one as well. At one point of his life he was even severely punished by his grandmother. Despite
the fact that Van Gogh was brought up with religion and strictness, he did have some problems of
his own he needed to deal with. Vincent had a bad temper, was always very emotional, and did
not think so highly of himself. He lacked self esteem. Between the ages of seven to eleven, Vincent
was taught at home by a governess. This governess was a trained to teacher who would teach a train

would then be shipped off to attend boarding school in the Netherlands. Vincent Van Gogh s first art

The Influence Of The Zeitgeist In The 1960s
Zeitgeist is a word that comes straight from German zeit means time and geist means spirit, and
the spirit of the time is what s going on culturally, religiously, or intellectually during a certain
period. Think about how something like Woodstock symbolized the 1960s: Woodstock was part
of the Zeitgeist of the 1960s. Whatever seems particular to or symbolic of a certain time is
likely part of its Zeitgeist. During every time period or era, there was and is and forever will be
something that will be Zeitgeist representative of the time. The likes of Elvis Presley being the
Zeitgeist of the 1950 s Rock and Roll scene often referred to as The King of Rock and Roll , to
Metallica in my opinion one of the most influential bands of metal and also being one of the most
successful band commercially, all the way to the modern day times where I think we have many

resulted in high crop yields and high annual agricultural incomes. The income of crops produced
from the project is about 37 million dollars, more than one half of 66 million invested in the
project by the U.S. The Yuma desalting plant was another expensive project that the government
built its price was about 400 million dollars. The desalting plant is not an actual plant but a
factory where salty water would be cleaned, and would be delivered to Mexico. The Hoover dam
was a gigantic wall made of concrete that was constructed in 1931, it s purpose was to reserve the
water, control floods, and used for irrigation. The price of the Hoover dam was about 49 million
dollars. All

  • 2. A Research on Team and Group Communication Processes Team and Group Communication Processes: The systematic description on the nature of the processes of communication in several areas including businesses and organizations is known as communication theory. Organizations and businesses are required to understand the concept of communication theory because the achievement of organizational and business goals is dependent on effective communication. Communication theory focuses on examining the process of transmitting information from the sender to the receiver. Furthermore, communication theory analyzed the various means for transfer of information from one medium to the other. As people across the globe have been working with several communication theories, these theories provide an abstract understanding of the process of communication. A theoretical explanation of communication processes is usually provided when professionals across various fields talk about their communication strategies, types, and effectiveness (Dainton, 2004). In the healthcare sector, primary health care team members and other caregivers or service providers are usually required to communicate effectively with one another in order to enhance the quality of service. • 4. A Hectic Schedule Analysis A Hectic Schedule The term struggle is used frequently amongst the teenagers of this generation. It is commonly used for almost every job which is not appealing. They say life is such a struggle which is a true statement, but it is such a broad statement it has different meaning for every individual. My struggle in life is time management. Sophomore year was not too hectic for me as I was taking honors classes and deeply involved in Asian and Pacific Islander Club. I was also in the musical which taught me how to balance my school life and after school curriculars even more. I also committed to volunteer at PAST E for a few months after school. With my experience of balancing school life and activities sophomore year, I thought it would be fun to add more extra curriculars to my schedule. At the end of my sophomore year I applied to be the head chairwoman of the diversity and community committees as I believed I had good attributes of leading these communities. I wanted to give back to the CC community. I was denied both positions, but the diversity committee called me back after a day within the interviews. I accepted it graciously even though I was warned there would be a lot of extra work. In addition to accepting a leadership role, I also committed myself... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Match Point Aristotle Recipe for Tragedy Aristotle, who was one of the greatest philosophers of Ancient Greece, analysed the different elements of tragedies and the ideal form for tragic plays. He also came up with the definition, which stated that a tragic play would need to have six elements to be successful. Aristotle felt that the plot and characters are the most important elements in a tragic play. However, thought, diction, spectacle and melody must also be done well to make a successful play. Match Point is an example of a modern tragic film that follows Aristotle s elements. However, several modifications would serve to improve the situation in their relations. Firstly, Mrs. Norton should introduce more effective communication measures that will ensure that the link between Evergreen and Aragula Grocers is not severed. It was discovered that the link between these two parties was weak, and this will lead to confusion and dilution of the vision of the mother company. Secondly, Norton also needed to rectify the financial status of the store before investing in it seriously. This essay is meant to enlighten people on different uses of doublespeak and how organizations and others use it to mislead. Lutz begins by defining doublespeakas A blanket term for language which pretends to communicate but doesn t, language which makes the bad seem good, the negative appear positive, the unpleasant attractive, or at least tolerable (278). Specifically, people who use doublespeak pretend to convey a certain message while in reality they do the exact opposite. His paper teaches readers to ignore useless information and strip phrases down to what they truly mean. Through Lutz s use of numerous historical and personal examples, he effectively argues his opinion on the negative uses of doublespeak. Younger audiences who are often confused or misled by the various tactics of doublespeak and have a challenging time listening to and understanding political conversations would highly benefit from this article. In order to understand doublespeak, one must first understand why speakers use it and what effects it has on the public. Professionals use doublespeak to deceive because it distorts reality in favor of the speaker, it confuses and corrupts the audiences thinking, and it avoids responsibility. One of the most crucial reasons people in positions of power utilize doublespeak is to twist the reality of a negative situation to their audiences. William J. It can be claimed that there are two opinions on this subject. On the one hand Benjamin never became lawful holder of the shipment under s.19(3) of SOGA 1979 and as a result he had no right on the goods property. This fact and in combination with s.21(1) gives no property to Ronaldo. On the other hand Ronaldo can rely on s.25(1), as Benjamin did not notice him regarding his previous transaction with Maurice. Additionally, if we take the view that property had not passed to Benjamin, then s.39(2) also gives Maurice the right of stoppage of the goods as s.41(c) s.44 confirm that the unpaid seller Maurice has exercisable rights on the goods. However, what confuses the case is that Benjamin had already sold the cargo to Ronaldo. If Maurice had taken action against Benjamin prior to the re sale, then no such issue would have arisen, as the property would be an issue between these two parties which means that Maurice could exercise his aforementioned rights against him , but now a third person has the title of the goods and has nothing to do with the conflict between Benjamin and Maurice since he acted in good faith. Accordingly, under s.43(1)(b) Maurice s rights on the cargo cease to exist, since Ronaldo lawfully obtained the bill of lading by Benjamin. In support of his statement s.47(2)(a) also provides that no lien, retention or stoppage can be exercised on the consignment. To sum up, since the action against Benjamin was effected after Ronaldo had acquired the title of the goods, Maurice had no right on the cargo. 8.Stoppage in transit Letter of indemnity Non delivery of the goods According to the definition of the transit period in s. 45(1) SOGA 1979, the goods were in transitu when the transactions between the involved parties took place. ... • 19. The Theory Of Needs Theories And How An Individual s... Motivation is the influence or drive for an individual to perform a specific act. In the past many theorists have scrutinised the concept of needs theories and how an individual s human behaviour works in order for them to be motivated. However it has also been a very heavy topic considering different theorists have judged one another s perception on the notion of motivating factors. In the past centuries, theorists have critically analysed the ways in which individuals are best motivated. A well known psychologist Maslow (1943) believed that there are five levels of needs in order for an individual to be fully motivated. His focus is more on the positive needs of employees. From the Bottom of the pyramid comes the physiological needs or in other words basic needs, which consist of necessities such as food, water, health and things that any human starts with. He stresses on the notion of homeostasis as part of these needs, the body s automatic efforts to maintain a constant, normal state of the bloodstream (Maslow 1943,p.270). When satisfied, they tend to search for safety needs; these can be considered as job security. Such acts are moving from a job to a much safer one or even one that have long term contracts. People will then look at the next level of social needs, to be ultimately recognised by others, and to just fit in the workforce. The next level is the esteem needs, to feel good about ones self, and to be praised by those higher on the organisational hierarchy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Analysis Of The Literary Works Of Bash ЕЊ, Khayyam, And Tagore The World is an Image Image, as a word, originates from Latin imago which means to imitate (Varshney 86). Hence, imagery in literature is an artificial imitation of the external form of an object (Varshney 86). In other words, an image is a form of expressing thoughts and feelings through representing reality by employing visual expressions. In the literary works of BashЕЌ, KhayyГЎm, and Tagore, natural imagery play a fundamental role in illustrating inner thoughts, vocalizing silent feelings, and dramatizing frozen emotions. A good deal of Western scholarship on the works of BashЕ Ќ, Omar KhayyГЎm, and Tagore describe the employment(s) of imagery (among other literary techniques) in their poems and prose as avant grade, which minimizes the literary traditions of the East and narrowly historicizes the notion of avant grade. If avant grade, as a western concept, means expressing thoughts and emotions through unorthodox or untraditional approaches, then it cannot be applied to the works of Basho, Khayyam, and Tagore without ignoring the literary past. As Kawamoto declares, nothing is absolutely new it can be new only when it is compared to something else that has already existed (Kawamoto 712). Language, in itself, is traditional it can evolve and develop, but it cannot break roots with the past. Portnoy s Complaint by Philip Roth tells the story of a perverse mama s boy Jewish bachelor, who confesses to his psychoanalyst all of his complaints and struggles. Topics mentioned in the book include the experiences of assimilated American Jews, the relationship between American Jews and Jews of Israel, and the characteristics of being part of a Jewish family. Portnoy s Complaint fits right in within Jewish comedy traditions, especially within the time period of its debut. Roth s novel reads like a classic Stand up routine. As Portnoy himself calls it The Alexander Portnoy Show! The character of Alexander Portnoy personifies the relevant humor found in Jewish tradition. The character of Alexander Portnoy represents the classic Jewish stigma of the Schlemiel. According to Sanford Pinsker in his book, The Schlemiel as Metaphor, the schlemiel embodied the negative qualities of weaknesses that had to be ridiculed in order to be overcome within Jewish life. Pinsker describes the Schlemiel as one whom looks upon their disabilities as peripheral sufferings, sustained through no fault of their own, and is seen as a model of perseverance. An example of Portnoy as a schlemiel is when he talked about his favorite activity, masturbation. In order for one to be diagnosed, one must meet four criterion. Criteria A is recurrent episodes of binge eating characterized by the following; eating in a discrete period of time (2 hours), and amount of food that is larger than most individuals would eat in a similar period and the second a sense of lack of control over eating during the episode (DSM v, 2013, p. 346). Women who are bulimic tend to eat a vast amount of food in a short period of time just to purge as a result. This intensity it of consuming, must happen in a moderate amount of time in order to be considered bulimic. Better understood by Abraham (2008) she states, an episode of binge eating occurs when the woman s resistance to eating fails and she has an irresistible desire to eat (p. 280). This type of behavior represents a sense of lack of control. Women who binge have a hard time stopping and controlling what and how much they are consuming. • 27. Eu Law Of The European Union EU LAW (i) The actions that might be brought by Rochelle and Neil in the national courts With regard to the actions that might be brought by Rochelle and Neil in the national courts when it comes to the matter of complaints about the law of the European Union s (henceforth, the EU s) application, it has generally been recognised that if an individual is recognised as being a national of a Member State, lives in a Member State, or if they run a business in the EU then the law of the Union provides parties like Rochelle and Neil with a number of rights. However, if individuals like Rochelle and/or Neil feel that their rights under the law of the EU in the form of a Directive and a Regulation in this instance respectively have not been respected by a Member State like the UK s national authorities then it is first necessary to bring the matter before those authorities for the purpose of resolution before having to resort to the European Court of Justice (henceforth, the ECJ) for this purpose. This is because it has generally been recognised that this will typically be both the most effective and efficient means to bring about the resolution of any matters of concern raised by parties like Rochelle and/or Neil when it comes to the interpretation and application of the law of the EU. Such an understanding of the position in this regard is evidenced by the fact that the law of the EU in the form of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union 2008 (henceforth, the ... • 28. City Of Threadful Delight Analysis Response Papers Judith R. Walkowitz wrote the novel City of Dreadful Delight that took place in London in the nineteenth century. During this time there was a large wealth gap between the rich and poor citizens, creating the imaginary landscape because of how the upper and middle classes viewed the city of London and how the citizens liked to focus on others problems to forget about there own. The author also compares how upper and middle class writers and reformers viewed East and West London. Walkowitz studied upper and middle class authors and how they created the imaginary landscape. She does this by using Henry James who had just arrived in London in 1876. Henry was an artist, author, and a wealthy upper class bachelor. Walkowitz shows how the city provided a place of escape and fantasy. But the streets of London offered him freedom and imaginative delights (15 Walkowitz). London was such a massive city that within the city it had neighborhoods of very different social and economic status. These writers pointed out that it was difficult for the low income citizens to make a living because of the high unemployment rate (31 Walkowitz).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Henry Ford (Brainyquote) In the Novel Lord of the Flies the boys come together, keep together, but then begin to become completely unglued. The boys come together at the start of the Novel when an election is held. This is the first time all of the boys on the island meet. Ralph wins the election by a landslide against Jack. Although, Jack wants to be the leader of the boys because he is already the leader of the choirboys, however the boys don t select him. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The boys don t want to be told what to do. This is not only true in the book but is a simple fact of adolescence. For example, the American Academy of Pediatrics states that, From time to time most children defy the wishes of their parents. This is a part of growing up and testing adult guidelines and expectations. It is one way for children to learn about and discover their own selves, express their individuality, and achieve a sense of autonomy. (American Academy of Pediatrics) The same goes for Lord of the Flies. The reader can think of Ralph as the parent who has the best interest for his son/daughter and Jack as his/her s disobedient troubled friend. In Lord of the Flies the boys are at a stage where the disobedient troubled friend has a significant pull compared to the knowledgeable parent. The friend s opinion can trump the parent s in real life and does in Lord of the Flies when in chapter 8 some boys leave Ralph for Jack. This is concerning and is one of the main conflicts in Lord of the Flies. The loss of leadership was inevitable for Ralph because the boys are at a point in their life where they cannot exercise good judgement. For example, Jack is over the moon telling Ralph and the boys about how he killed a pig . Ralph who has better judgement has to remind Jack and say, There was a ship (Golding, 75) This shows that Jack and the hunters do not have a good sense of judgement because they don t do the most ... • 31. Lenin s Legacy Of The Soviet Revolution Lenin s Legacy History will not forgive Revolutionaries for procrastinating when they could be victorious today, while they risk losing much tomorrow, in fact, they risk losing everything (Vladimir Lenin. Call to Power). Lenin was a persistent Russian ruler who wished to instill his communist views in Russian society at all costs. He was influential in motivating his followers to rise up and overthrow Russia s weak government which lead to the reformation of Russia s weak economy. Although Lenin faced opposing forces from the West, he was able to institute a number of reforms which boosted Russia s broken economy and led to the transformation of Russia from a war struck country into an economically stable power, prior to his death. Prior to Lenin coming into power, Russia s corrupt government was stuck in a state of war with Germany along with other Western European powers which ultimately led to the revolts of angry Russians due to famine and political issues. The Russo Japanese war began the first Russian revolution in 1905 when Russia suffered a tragic loss on the battlefield (Vladimir Lenin. World History). The Russian loss to Japan forced the government to give up on its expansionist policy resulting in the government losing its followers. This was the most devastating defeat Russia has ever faced to a non European force and proved Czar Nicholas unfit to rule the nation. • 32. Persuasive Speech On Whale Captivity How would you feel if you were a killer whale performing in front of thousands of people? For many years people have argued if killer whales should be kept in captivity or not. Blackfish, a documentary on Seaworld and killer whales, had argued with Seaworld against whale captivity. Killer whale captivity must be banned because whales can get ill or injured, they can be dangerous to humans, and they can get separated from their families. Killer whalescaptivity is a major issue because they could become sick or injured there. According to Blackfish, orca whales in captivity tend to become hyper aggressive towards new whales. This results in whaleon whale incidents where the whales can get severely injured, or can even die. Some examples of these incidents, as The Dodo has said, are a male whale named Nakai had his chin torn off in a fight. Additionally, a female whale named Kandu broke her own jaw and cut her artery in a fight, eventually bleeding to death. Her calf was circling around her during the event. In addition, the Huffington Post states, animals may suffer from captivity related stresses that lower their resistance and make them more susceptible to disease, making lifespans in captivity significantly lower than in the wild. To add on, The Dodo states, One big issue was the terrible state of the orcas teeth. Captive orcas are already at risk for dental trauma bored and stressed, they often begin gnawing on the edges of their tanks. They also state that these occurrences in the wild are very rare. Also, whales like Tilikum got a lung infection due to bacterial pneumonia, which is the most common reason why captive whales and dolphins die (according to Wikipedia). Tilikum had also died due to the disease. This indicates that whale captivity leads to many incidents and diseases that the whales would not have faced in the wild. All these problems are caused due to them being captive. Orca captivity is also dangerous for human beings. For example, Tilikum was the cause of the death of 3 people as shown in Blackfish. First, he and 2 other whales drowned Keltie Byrne, who had slipped into the pool. She was screaming and tried to escape, but the whales pulled her back and drowned her. Then, a ... Cost of Capital for Lodging is 13.24%. The WA Bu of today s lodging industry is slightly higher than that in 1987, indicating a slight increase in the business risk associated with the industry. Cost of Capital for Restaurant Division was calculated in the same manner. The 1 year T bill was used as a usual shorter term security to obtain the risk free rate. The unleveraged Beta, used to obtain the leveraged Beta for the CAPM, was once again the weighed average of the unleveraged B s of the restaurant industry representatives given in the case.
