Dynamic DNS (DDNS) is a service that maps dynamic IP addresses to domain names. Unlike traditional DNS, which only works with static IP addresses, DDNS can support dynamic IP addresses assigned by a DHCP server. To use DDNS, one signs up with a DDNS provider and installs client software to monitor their IP address and update the DNS record when the IP changes. The DDclient is commonly used client software that can be installed on Linux servers to periodically update the IP address with the DDNS provider.
