Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) allows domain names to be mapped to changing IP addresses in real-time. It works by having a client on the device monitor IP address changes and notify the DNS server to update its records accordingly. This allows devices with dynamic public IPs, like those assigned by DHCP, to still be accessible through static domain names.
