DNS stands for Domain Name System and translates domain names into IP addresses that computers can understand. It also provides a list of mail servers that accept emails for each domain name. Each domain name nominates authoritative name servers for its DNS records. The document discusses configuring a DNS by registering a website domain on a server with an IP address, connecting PCs and a switch to the server, and setting the DNS information on the nodes so resources on the website can be accessible to everyone.

2. Domain Name Service
DNS stands for Domain Name System. The main function of DNS is to translate domain names
into IP Addresses, which computers can understand. It also provides a list of mail servers which
accept Emails for each domain name. Each domain name in DNS will nominate a set of name
servers to be authoritative for its DNS records.
Objectives
• Register a website by Ip address
• Register the website domain in the server.
• Make that accessible from others nodes.
Configure of DNS
• Then take some pc and give them a unique Ip address.
• Take a switch & connect every pc with the switch.
• Connect the switch with the server.
• Give an Ip address and DNS to the server
• Set the DNS information to the nodes.
• Now the resources on the website can be accessible to everyone if you give permission.
