LENGTH OF THE LESSON: 40 MINUTES
CLASS DESCRIPTION: There are twenty-two (6th
D) and twenty-three (6th
C) students, all
between eleven and twelve years old. They have English classes twice a week, each
class lasts forty minutes. This group of students work actively but they speak a lot in
L1. Their proficiency level is A1.
SKILLS TO BE EMPHASIZED: Listening, speaking, reading and writing.
LANGUAGE:
- Vocabulary food
- Present Simple: He has got some grapes. He hasn’t got any milk.
- Present Continuous: He is eating a sandwich.
AIMS:
By the end of this class, students will be able to recognize healthy activities and food.
Besides, they will become culturally aware of how to take care of our health and create
a sense of community and belonging.
MATERIALS:
● whiteboard/blackboard
● markers/chalk
● flashcards
● textbook: Howdy, friends!
● photocopies
● game: dice - cards
● projector
Anticipated problems: Some students could have problems in the understanding of
some new structures presented.
Possible solutions: Teacher will provide them the necessary help in order to overcome
that problem using visual aids, gestures and making a wise use of L1 and L2.

going to ask for a volunteer to
complete the didactic calendar
(date, time, weather, and season).
We will check homework.

I will show them pictures with the
projector about healthy countries
like China and Japan, and I will
explain that they have rice-and-
vegetable-based diets. Also a
picture of USA whose people prefer
fast food, like hamburgers and
french fries or sandwiches. Then I
will show pictures of traditional
food in Argentina like asado, tortas
fritas and chipá, and I will explain
that some food are unhealthy like
fast food. We will share opinions
and respect for other cultures and
its habits.

Reading
Speaking
We will open the book on page 42 –
unit 4 to read the text What is Good
for You?. Then students will solve a
true and false activity. We will check
orally.

Students will match sentences from
A to F on exercise 16 about the text.

Game
We will play a game. Students will
be divided into two groups Orange
team and Pear team. One of them
will have to throw a dice and
complete a task (1 task = 5 points).
1- Say a sentence with I like or I
don’t like + an activity. 2- Mime an
action and the team will guess it. 3-
Name 5 healthy food items. 4- Name
5 unhealthy food items. 5- Find a
picture with a healthy habit at school
and say what people are doing in it.
6- Sounds interesting, not very
clear how you will carry out the
instructions,though.

  • 1. SUBJECT: PRACTICE II, DIDACTICS OF ELT AND PRACTICUM AT PRIMARY SCHOOL LEVEL. Prof. Adjunto Regular Estela N. Braun LESSON PLAN 4: Healthy Habits NAME: de la Cruz, Belén DATE: Tuesday, September 4th - 6th D from 16:10 to 16:50 and 6thC from 16:50 to 17:30. CLASS: Sixth Grade A-C MENTOR TEACHER: Joana Belén Herrán LENGTH OF THE LESSON: 40 MINUTES CLASS DESCRIPTION: There are twenty-two (6th D) and twenty-three (6th C) students, all between eleven and twelve years old. They have English classes twice a week, each class lasts forty minutes. This group of students work actively but they speak a lot in L1. Their proficiency level is A1. SKILLS TO BE EMPHASIZED: Listening, speaking, reading and writing. LANGUAGE: - Vocabulary food - Present Simple: He has got some grapes. He hasn’t got any milk. - Present Continuous: He is eating a sandwich. AIMS: By the end of this class, students will be able to recognize healthy activities and food. Besides, they will become culturally aware of how to take care of our health and create a sense of community and belonging. MATERIALS: ● whiteboard/blackboard ● markers/chalk ● flashcards ● textbook: Howdy, friends! ● photocopies ● game: dice - cards ● projector
  • 2. Anticipated problems: Some students could have problems in the understanding of some new structures presented. Possible solutions: Teacher will provide them the necessary help in order to overcome that problem using visual aids, gestures and making a wise use of L1 and L2. Procedures Stage/stage aim Description Interaction Timing Warm-up I’m going to start the class singing Clap your hands, stamp your feet, it’s time to say Hello, Hello! I’m going to ask for a volunteer to complete the didactic calendar (date, time, weather, and season). We will check homework. T –Ss 5 minutes Speaking I will show them pictures with the projector about healthy countries like China and Japan, and I will explain that they have rice-and- vegetable-based diets. Also a picture of USA whose people prefer fast food, like hamburgers and french fries or sandwiches. Then I will show pictures of traditional food in Argentina like asado, tortas fritas and chipá, and I will explain that some food are unhealthy like fast food. We will share opinions and respect for other cultures and its habits. T-Ss 5 min. Reading Speaking We will open the book on page 42 – unit 4 to read the text What is Good for You?. Then students will solve a true and false activity. We will check orally. Ss (Individual) 10 min. Matching Students will match sentences from A to F on exercise 16 about the text. Ss (Individual) 5 min.
  • 3. Production Game We will play a game. Students will be divided into two groups Orange team and Pear team. One of them will have to throw a dice and complete a task (1 task = 5 points). 1- Say a sentence with I like or I don’t like + an activity. 2- Mime an action and the team will guess it. 3- Name 5 healthy food items. 4- Name 5 unhealthy food items. 5- Find a picture with a healthy habit at school and say what people are doing in it. 6- Sounds interesting, not very clear how you will carry out the instructions,though. Ss (Team Work) 15 min.
