LESSON PLAN 8: How healthy are you?
NAME: de la Cruz, Belén
DATE: Thursday, October 4th - 6th D from 16:10 to 16:50, and 6th C from 16:50 to 17:30.
CLASS: Sixth Grade A-C
MENTOR TEACHER: Joana Belén Herrán
LENGTH OF THE LESSON: 40 MINUTES
CLASS DESCRIPTION: There are twenty-two (6th D) and twenty-five (6th C) students, all
between eleven and twelve years old. They have English classes twice a week, each
class lasts forty minutes. This group of students work actively but they speak a lot in
L1. Their proficiency level is A1.
SKILLS TO BE EMPHASIZED: Listening, speaking, reading and writing.
LANGUAGE:
- Vocabulary food
- Present Simple: Pizza is delicious.
- Function: Do you like eating food? Yes, I do /No, I don't.
- Adverbs of frequency: I always drink milk./I usually eat vegetables WORD ORDER.
AIMS:
By the end of this class, students will be able to recognize healthy activities and food.
Besides, they will become culturally aware of how to take care of our health and create
a sense of community and belonging.
MATERIALS:
- whiteboard/blackboard
- markers/chalk
- flashcards
- textbook: Howdy, friends 2!
- photocopies
- cards
Anticipated problems: Some students could have problems in the understanding of
some new structures presented.
Possible solutions: Teacher will provide them the necessary help in order to overcome
that problem using visual aids, gestures and making a wise use of L1 and L2.

  • 1. sxSUBJECT: PRACTICE II, DIDACTICS OF ELT AND PRACTICUM AT PRIMARY SCHOOL LEVEL. Prof. Adjunto Regular Estela N. Braun LESSON PLAN 8: How healthy are you? NAME: de la Cruz, Belén DATE: Thursday, October 4th - 6th D from 16:10 to 16:50, and 6th C from 16:50 to 17:30. CLASS: Sixth Grade A-C MENTOR TEACHER: Joana Belén Herrán LENGTH OF THE LESSON: 40 MINUTES CLASS DESCRIPTION: There are twenty-two (6th D) and twenty-five (6th C) students, all between eleven and twelve years old. They have English classes twice a week, each class lasts forty minutes. This group of students work actively but they speak a lot in L1. Their proficiency level is A1. SKILLS TO BE EMPHASIZED: Listening, speaking, reading and writing. LANGUAGE: - Vocabulary food - Present Simple: Pizza is delicious. - Function: Do you like eating food? Yes, I do /No, I don't. - Adverbs of frequency: I always drink milk./I usually eat vegetables WORD ORDER. AIMS: By the end of this class, students will be able to recognize healthy activities and food. Besides, they will become culturally aware of how to take care of our health and create a sense of community and belonging. MATERIALS: - whiteboard/blackboard - markers/chalk - flashcards - textbook: Howdy, friends 2! - photocopies - cards
  • 2. Anticipated problems: Some students could have problems in the understanding of some new structures presented. Possible solutions: Teacher will provide them the necessary help in order to overcome that problem using visual aids, gestures and making a wise use of L1 and L2. Procedures Stage/stage aim Description Interaction Timing Warm-up Speaking Listening I’m going to start the class singing Clap your hands, stamp your feet, it’s time to say Hello, Hello! I’m going to ask for a volunteer to complete the didactic calendar (date, time, weather, and season). Activate Prior Knowledge: Teacher will stick pictures about food and she will read a description and students will guess which one it is. Macroskill: listening T –Ss 5 minutes 5 minutes Reading Speaking Students will open the book on page 45 - exercise 22 - to answer the questions about their habits. Then they will complete a survey ‘How healthy are you?’ and we will compare results. Macroskill: speaking. Ss (Individual) Group Work 10 min. Writing Speaking Students will open the book on page 64 to do exercise 11 and they will complete the text ‘A Healthy Life’ choosing healthy drawings. Then they will share their own production with the rest of the class. Focus on language stage: Do you like eating food? Yes, I do /No, I don't. Adverbs of frequency I always drink milk.   • 3. Speaking Listening The teacher will give students cards with food items and students, in pairs, will provide a description and the rest of the class has to guess. T-Ss Pair Work Group Work 10 min. Homework Students will do exercise 21 on page 44, they will break a secret code. Ss (Individual)
