Monuments Men Book Report
Monuments Men Summary and Strong Response Essay Personally, history intrigues me. I love
learning about things that helped shape our country and others. There s only one catch, listening
to a teacher lecture about history kills me. It is, in my opinion, the most boring thing in the
world ever to sit through. It s not the teachers fault by any means, they re just doing their job. It s
just that I can t stand listening to lecture after lecture. So when I can do research on my own, or
learn about it in my own way, it makes it so much more enjoyable. While reading this book, Edsel
brought things to my attention that I never would ve have thought were of importance back then.
For example, the whole book is about art preservation and the importance of art to societies around
the world, something that I never really cared about until after I read this book. Edsel shows the
importance of art in historythrough this book, which is that art connects everyone because it is a
representation or reminder of our heritage and culture. From this viewpoint, Edsel broadens his
audience immensely, and understand and appreciate art like he does. The story begins in the city
of Karlsruhe, Germany. Karlsruhe was a city that the Jews had lived in peacefully for a great
number of years.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, like I said before, the fact that Hitler actually wanted to be an artist. Or the fact that
there was even a group of soldiers that went in to battle for the sole purpose of recovering
historical artifacts and monuments before Hitler got ahold of them and destroyed them. You re also
introduced to the art of conservation and preservation of art. I had no clue that there was even such
a thing, I just thought that all art slowly degraded over time no matter what. I didn t know that there
were actual procedures that specialist go through to keep this art in spectacular condition for
hundreds or even thousands of

The Statue Of Liberty In New York City
A cultural space can be defined in many ways. Everyone defines a cultural space differently. The
most culturally and socially type of cultural space is something everyone can appreciate. Even if
people have never seen it in person, the power it holds brings so much influence. The statue of
liberty in New York City is not only just an attraction for tourists but a significant space in the
United States. The Statue of Liberty is the most socially and culturally valuable type of cultural
space. It provides educational value to those who visit, there is a variety of activates, and it is
influential not just to the United States but to the world. When people go to visit the Statue of
Liberty, they do not just go to see a statue, they go to learn about the history as well. The Statue of

The statue is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. Brought to the United
States as segments, the Statue of Liberty stands in the New York Harbor on Ellis Island. The
idea for the statue was inspired by the works of Abraham Lincoln. The Statue has changed over
time, physically and ideologically. Between 1886 and 1924, Lady Liberty became a symbol of
hope and opportunity for a new life. The Statue of Liberty became a major port of entrance for
millions of European immigrants. Many who entered the New York Harbor were escaping tyranny,
oppression, and poverty. To these anxious newcomers, the Statue s uplifted torch did not suggest
enlightenment, as her creators intended, but rather, welcome. A poem called The New Colossus,
written by Emma Lazarus was mounted on the statue s pedestal in the early 1900s. It states, Give
me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your
teeming shore;

Survivor Of Incest Research Paper
Unfortunately I am a survivor of incest and have made bad choices in my life. When I had my
first child at the age of 17, I thought I knew everything. I was working two jobs to support my
child due to the Father not participating in his upbringing. I met my first husband when my eldest
son was 45 years old and I was around age 21. We eventually got married and had two more
children. Still not coping with my sexual abuse which was a large factor into my drug use. I had
no control over my life at one point but, through counseling/ and outpatient treatment I found I did

Boxer Rebellion Research Paper
The Boxer Rebellion was an uprising that took place in the late 1800s of China because Western
influence. A strong majority of the people of China at the time were very upset that the government
chose to do little to nothing about it. People were planning to take a stand. They believed that with
the strength of their own fists, they could win, hence the name Boxers , and thus the Boxer
Rebellionwas born. Although, the influence of Western culture in Chinastarting in the 1800s
brought many positive impacts to China, inevitably, as a result of the Opium Wars, the Scramble
for Concessions , and Christianity, led to the Boxers taking a stand. A major contributor to why this

Many would argue it is the true number one, primary reason that the Boxer Rebellion occurred in
the first place. The spread of Christianity in China at this time was an extremely convincing sing of
Western influence. Luella Miner was among the westerners that happened to be in China during the
Boxer Rebellion. According to her, their motto was essentially Kill the foreign devils,
Kill...Kill...Kill! . This motto would greatly explain the violence and aggression shown by the
Boxers during the rebellion. Many Boxers claim to have been primarily annoyed with the Western
influence in China at the time. Christianity would have played a key role in demonstrating Western
imperialism, which is what would explain the murdering of thousands of Christian missionaries and
Chinese Christians living in China at the time. When considered, there are not many things that
scream Western culture more than Western religion itself. Opium was only a substance that many
Chinese enjoyed abusing and Western ways of ruling were heavily affected by that country s
religious beliefs. This is why Christianity would have received the primary amounts of hate from
the Boxers. Many Chinese Christians and missionaries were murdered as a result of the Boxer
Rebellion. Approximately 32,000 and 200 missionaries were murdered. This figure more clearly can
demonstrate the hate towards these Christians, and the effects they were having on the development

Why is caring so important? In the movie Finding Forrester, the story begins with Jamal and his
friends as they wonder why a figure they refer to as The Window, watches them when they play
basketball. Jamal s friends dare him to sneak into The Window s apartment. He has to prove to
his friends that he followed through on the dare by taking something from the apartment. The

achievement, and he seeks Forrester s help in dealing with the new environment (p. 2). Even

American Airlines Flight 77 Research Paper
September 11, 2001 American airlines flight 77 was in the process of boarding passengers. This
flight was scheduled to leave Washington Dulles airport, in the process of boarding two of the
five men were considered suspicious by a CAPPS (Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening
System) agent. The reasons that Nawaf al Hazmi and Salem al Hazmi were subjected to extra
attention by the CAPPS agent is because one of the brothers did not have any identification and he
could also not speak any english. The kicker here is that the agent on duty for CAPPS found the
two men to be very suspicious. Unfortunately the only consequences of the actions taken were
minute because there checked bags were held off the plane until it was confirmed that the two...

On Saturday September 21 the terror began and continued for eighty hours. Al Shabaab militants
brought chaos and confusion to the people of Nairobi and 67 people were counted as loss to the
lunacy that is thought to be heroic actions for Allah. Most people would say that suspicious
behavior is someone acting strangely trying to hide there appearance but the truth is certain for
both cases as this group of about seven cowards moved towards the mall with guns blazing.
Frank Musungu, who worked for the Kenyan navy was advised along with other military
personnel not to go to high profile malls like this one in case of a terrorist attack. Munsungu,
knowing this danger carried a hand gun with him to the little cafГ© near the entrance of the
mall where the terrorist arrived with guns blazing. The events that took place the day those
crazy people walking into the west gate mall were truly tragic and need to be assessed. Men who
were told not to go to this mall for security reasons did so anyway. The problem is not necessary
to the solution in this case because it is obvious that the reason to take action was before the events
took place. Suspicious behavior was already a factor concerning the safety of the west gate mall.
Why actions were not taken to detour this atrocity is beyond my knowledge and understanding as
to why precautions were not taken to neutralize the enemy before it happened.

Fear Of Vaccine Essay
In modern times with the rapid pace of vaccine development in recent decades, the historic origins
of immunization are often forgotten, leading people to underestimate the severity of the harm that
vaccinations prevent. The resistance to vaccinations is a well known occurrence, due to the
positive effects vaccinations have had we forget the tragic consequences of the past s fearsome
infectious disease such as smallpox. Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat
it, George Santayana. Studying history is necessary to avoid repeating past mistakes. Despite
overwhelming evidence supporting the safety and benefits of vaccination, this fear has proven
resistant to information. Parents are increasingly questioning the safety of and need for vaccines as
a result, vaccination rates have fallen to dangerously low levels in certain communities. Recent
outbreaks of vaccinepreventable diseases in the United States have drawn attention to this epidemic.
While vaccine acceptance remains high in general, fear of vaccines has grown dramatically in
many developed countries. In some communities, this fear has led to significantly increased rates of
vaccine refusal which are associated with increases in illness and death from vaccine preventable
diseases. Given the risk to the public health these perceptions produce, and consistent with well
established legal principles supporting government action to protect the common good, society has
the right and responsibility to

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Game Analysis
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight offers an example of game playing for didactic purposes. The
Green Knight s game drives the action and offers instruction for Gawain. However, the Green
Knight was unpredictable when he announced the beheading game to King Arthur s court. The first
is a beheading tale, which becomes the impetus behind Gawain s quest and frames the second tale,
Bertilak s test of Gawain s honor. ( John Jay and Teresa Sutton). With the opening game, the Green
Knight tests Sir Gawain s honor, nobility and worthiness as a knight when he tells Gawain to find
him in a year s time.
The second game at the Red Lord s castle also tests Gawain s honor. As Gawain is on his way to

All organizations, be it business, educational or government are social systems. These are run by
people, Example: Industrial organization, is a combination of men, money, machinery, material and
management. The functioning of an organization depends upon how people work or behave in the
organization.
The scientific management came into existence to focus on behavioural aspects of management.

emphasis on workers cooperation and moral. The study of human relations is not a new

Excessive absences often coincide with poor performance, high turnover rates and low
organisational commitment.
What is an acceptable level of absence?
The diversity and nature of organisations means that there is no optimum or standard level of
acceptable workplace absence that is applicable. Each organisation is best placed to determine when
workplace absence rates require investigation and management. If an organisations thinks that there
is a problem, then it is worth investigating. It is important that an organisation looks for trends and
patterns. An acceptable average absence rate may mask trends and patterns in certain divisions or
individuals.
Causes of Workplace Absence
Understanding the cause of workplace absence is not always straightforward absence behaviour is
variable and complex. For the same individual, absence is likely to have different causes at different
times and in different contexts. In broad terms, there are three major influences on attendance:
Illness or injury Non work related factors (e.g. emergencies) Motivation Attitudes and behaviours
associated with a lack of motivation to attend the workplace (e.g. low job satisfaction, non
commitment to the organisation, workplace tension)
Illness and injury does not always arise from the individual s personal circumstances, but can also
be the result of work factors. For example,

Culture is a way that a particular group of people from the same background act. Like the way
they live or the way they speak their language, it could also be defined as the art of the culture
and the foods they eat, even the religion plays a role in culture. Puerto Rico is located in the

Puerto Rican culture, art, literature, music, and education are important to them in the 8 elements of

organization show how the Puerto Rican culture is formed.
Geography is one of the elements that form the Puerto Rican culture. Puerto Rico is three times the

Benefits of Omega-3 Fatty Acids Essay
More and more research studies are finding that getting enough Omega 3 fatty acids is critical to
our health in many ways. Omega 3 fats are essential for the survival of the human body, but our
bodies can t manufacture them on their own, so we need to get them from the foods we eat.
Good dietary sources of Omega 3 fatty acids are fish and seafood, like salmon, tuna, sardines,
halibut, herring, algae and krill, plus some plants and nut oils such as flaxseeds and flaxseed oil,
canola oil, soybeans and soybean oil, pumpkin seeds and pumpkin seed oil, purslane, perilla seed
oil, and walnuts and walnut oil.
Also known as polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), Omega 3s play a critical role in brain function

This diet includes very little meat, which is high in omega 6 fatty acids, and includes foods rich
in Omega 3s such as whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, olive oil, and garlic, and
drinking wine in moderation. Numerous studies have shown that those who follow this type of diet
are less prone to develop heart disease.
Omega 3s may also be beneficial for:
High cholesterol
Those on a Mediterranean style diet are prone to have higher HDL, or good cholesterol levels,
which help support heart health. Inuit Eskimos, who get plenty of Omega 3s from eating fatty
fish, also tend to have increased HDL cholesterol and decreased triglycerides, or fats in the blood.
Research studies have shown that fish oil supplements reduce triglyceride levels. Finally, walnuts
(that contain high levels of alpha linolenic acid, or ALA, which is type of Omega 3 fatty acid) have
been reported to lower total cholesterol and triglycerides in people who have high cholesterol levels.
High blood pressure
Studies have shown that people with hypertension were able to lower their blood pressure by
consuming diets high in Omega 3 fatty acids or taking fish oil supplements. After analyzing the
results of 17 clinical studies using fish oil supplements, researchers determined that taking 3 or
more grams of fish oil per day may lower blood pressure in people with untreated hypertension.
Heart disease

Battle Of Vimy Ridge Essay
World War I, also known as the First World War, the Great War, or the War to End All Wars was a
global war originating in Europe that lasted from July 28th 1914 to November 11th 1918. During
the war, Canada had played a very important role under the British Empire. Canadian soldiers were
sent under the British Empire to capture Vimy Ridge, (a monument) which was held by the
Germans. The Battle of Vimy Ridge is Canadas most celebrated military victory an often
mythologized symbol of the birth of Canadian national pride and awareness. The four divisions of
the Canadian Corps, fought together for the first time, attacked the ridge from April 9th to 12th
1917, and captured it from the German army. Despite their success, more than 10,500 Canadians
were killed and wounded in the assault. Today, an iconic white memorial atop the ridge honours the

status if people found out about Gatsby s proffesion as a bootlegger. They re such beautiful

she has been reunited with Gatsby, but rather because of the pure satisfaction all his pricey

Ardipithecus
The most common way to differentiate between modern humans and apes is human s
bipedalism. There are two fossil species available to the study of Ardipithecus: Ar. ramidus and
Ar. kadabba (Gibbons, 2009). There is much greater evidence to analyze Ar. ramidus, a hominine
that lived from the Late Miocene to the Early Pliocene (Gibbons, 2009). The 1994 discovery of
A. ramidus, commonly referred to as Ardi, included 125 pieces of her skeleton such as pelvis,
hands, arms, leg, and feet (Gibbons, 2009, p. 1598). Furthermore, it was determined that Ardi was

Ramdius has a small cranial capacity that is metrically and morphologically derived in the
direction of later hominids and shows a reduction in upper canine size (White et al., 2009, p.
80). According to White et. al. (2009), this signifies that Ar. Ramidus was an omnivore, and
while its diet may have included some hard foods, it generally stuck to ripe fruit (White et al.,
2009, p. 64, p. 80). Adding further evidence, Ardipithecus does not have sharp, daggerlike upper
canines seen in chimpanzees (Gibbons, 2009, p. 1599) Moreover, the muzzle of Ar. Ramidus juts
out less than a chimpanzee s does, also likening the hominid to its ancestors (Gibbons, 2009, p.
1599). However, Ardipithecus differentiates significantly from Australopithecus in the types of
plants it did eat. Australopithecus has a diet of more than 30% C4 plants while the diet of Ar.
Ramdius vary only between ~10 and 25% C4 (White et al., 2009, p. 79). This delineates that
Ardipithecus exploited a wider range of woodland resources than chimpanzees. It also did but did
not have access to the open biotype foods later consumed by Austraolopithecus (White et al., 2009,
p. 79). Socially, Ardipithicus lacks the delayed canine eruption found in chimpanzees (White et al.,
2009, p. 79). Similar to Australopithecus, this indicates that canine was not an important component
of adult sociobehaviroal relationships (White et al., 2009, p.

to Army ADP 6 0, mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander,
using mission orders to enable disciplined initiative within the commander s intent, to empower
agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct of unified land operations (CAPE, 2012). Effective
mission command can generally be analyzed according to the six principles outlined in ADRP 6 0.
The six principles of mission command are to: build cohesive teams through mutual trust, create
shared understanding, provide a clear commander s intent, exercise disciplined initiative, use
mission orders, and accept prudent risk (CAPE, 2012). This paper provides a brief overview of the

He was fighting a war on two fronts: internally, and against Union forces. It was General Bragg s
lack of confidence, previous performances, and relationships with his subordinate commanders
that ultimately caused the battle plan to not be executed correctly. Bragg was unable to
successfully implement the first principle of mission command: build cohesive teams through
mutual trust. He also had a history of not utilizing the sixth principle of mission command: take
prudent risk. Bragg s lack of competence regarding these two mission command principles
ultimately set conditions for a poor mission command climate within General Bragg s unit.
Bragg s sub commanders, Generals Hindman, Buckner, Polk, Longstreet, and Hill were all

Counting In Sevens Analysis
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani made his case Thursday to the American people and the world
for a constructive approach to contentious issues including his nation s nuclear program, arguing
that failing to engage leads to everyone s loss.
We must work together to end the unhealthy rivalries and interferences that fuel violence and drive
us apart, Rouhani said in an op ed published Thursday evening on the Washington Post s website.
It s not the first time a leader from a country often at podds with the United States has used its

President Barack Obama will meet next week when both attend the U.N. General Assembly in New

Asked the same question Wednesday, White House spokesman Jay Carney said there are currently
no plans for such a face to face meeting though he also didn t rule it out.
And Carney did hint the United States is open to talks with Iran with whom it has feuded regarding
Iran s nuclear program, a dispute that s led to harsh international sanctions and raised the specter of
war in the region to test whether Tehran is sincere in its hope to improve its international standing.
I think it s fair to say that (Obama) believes there is an opportunity for diplomacy when it comes to
the issues that have presented challenges to the United States and our allies with regards to Iran,
Carney said. And we hope that the Iranian government takes advantage of this opportunity.
In fact, there were high level talks Thursday involving Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and
U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki moon.
Zarif called the meeting constructive, saying it involved satisfactory negotiations on various issues
such as Iran s nuclear program, according to the state run Islamic Republic News Agency.
Ban s office also issued a positive statement on the meeting, saying the two discussed Iran s growing
cooperation with the international community on a host of issues, including the nuclear file, as

Jp Morgan In The 20th Century
In the 20th Century there was many important people who changed the way the America is
today. John Pierpont Morgan once said, If you have to ask how much it costs, you can t afford
it. It is assumed amongst most people that John never had to ask the price of anything because
he had so much money. J.P. Morgan was a significant figure in America s 20th Century because
of his role in saving the economy, funding huge companies and creating a wealthy bank that is
still around today. In this world it is hard to make yourself somebody important if you don t
come from the right background. Well the Morgan family was always wealthy. J.P. was born into
the home of Junius and Juliet Morgan in Connecticut. He grew up with three siblings, two sisters
and one brother (J.P. Morgan). J.P. attended high school in Boston and after graduation went to
Europe. He knew one day he wanted to take his father s business over, so he went abroad to learn
German and French to be able to expand his future business to the global scale. John married a

Morgan has even impacted acts that saved the government many times all because Morgan gave
them the idea. Congress knew that Morgan and his money wouldn t be around forever so they had
to make an act that would make sure they had their own money to secure the Stock Market in the
future if similar situations were to arise. Morgan also bought unsafe rifles from the government,
reconditioned them and sold them back to the government for a huge profit. These rifles were then
used in the Civil War. If Morgan hadn t given the Government safe and technological rifles then the
outcome of the Civil War could ve been different. They might not have been able to defeat the
South with unconditioned and unsafe rifles (Cross, Mary). J.P. Morgan played a major role in
saving 20th century America from many catastrophic

The Generation, Generation Y, Born From 1980
The workforce in most workplaces is now made up of up to four generational cohorts. The
diversity between these generations, in how they work and how they use technology, can create
conflict, and in some cases reduce productivity. Conflicts caused by the generational gaps are due
to differences in work ethics, habits, and styles, attitudes, and expectations. Most of these changes
have developed due to the changing technology each generation works with. The newer generations
are more experienced and reliant on technology, while older generations will prefer to not use
technology in the same ways. This forces the employers to find some way to help the generations
work together more effectively. First is the newest generation, Generation Y,

This is also part of why they like to change their jobs and careers more often than other
generations; they don t like that much sameness. Another issue is how their lives run. Generation Y
is the busiest generation ever, particularly when younger, resulting in less free time, and may mean
their lives are more scheduled. This can cause conflict when shifts need to be covered, and may
make them more inclined to get shifts off, which others may see as issues. Gen Y has also begun to
read far less, even over electronics, meaning they will take in much less from long written reports,
policies, etc. Employers will need to either find an alternative, or offer multiple forms of
communicating the information. For most of Gen Y, the more that is done using electronics, the
better, making the key to a functioning workplace with Gen Y implementing technologies into how
the workplace runs. A balance will have to be found, as the other generations are not as
technologically inclined as Gen Y tends to be. Generation Y should be valued for their
understanding of technology and insight into its uses. They will be capable of helping implement
technology into the workplace, improving efficiency. Most importantly, they can assist older
generations in understanding newer technology. A lack of experience only means they need to be
taught, not that they will be incompetent. Generation Y

Occupational Therapy Practitioners
As an occupational therapy practitioner, it is important to understand how to modify homes to
fit an individual with a disability. In this paper, I will share what I believe are the best
modifications to my own 2 story home for an individual in a wheelchair including the entrance
and half bath, kitchen, stairs, For those who maneuver through life in a wheelchair, the entrance
to a home can be a huge obstacle. The first modification I will make is to add a 4 foot ramp to the
outside of my house. I made the choice of a 46 ramp since I have 8 inches of height . I used the
formula of 12 inches of ramp for every 2 inches of height. The ramp will include railings on both

that she is now free from her husbands control. When she abandoned herself a little whispered

Early Classroom Observation
On April 10, 2017, I visited the Early Discoveries Center head start school in Port Jefferson, New

The class consist of 8 students and two lead teachers. The purpose of this observation is to observe

the interactions between the staff and children.
Early Discoveries Center in Port Jefferson in my opinion is phenomenal. The staff at the facility

Criminal Justice
I.Brief Cupp v. Murphy
412 U.S. 291, 93 S.Ct. 2000, 36 L.Ed.2d 900 (1973)
Merits: The respondent, Daniel Murphy, was convicted by a jury in an Oregon court of the
second degree murder of his wife. The victim died by strangulation in her home in the city of
Portland, and abrasions and lacerations were found on her throat. There was no sign of a break in
or robbery. Word of the murder was sent to the estranged husband, Daniel Murphy. Upon receiving

Id., at 1007. The U.S. Supreme Court granted the State s petition for certiorari.
Issue: Whether respondent s Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment Rights were violated when he was
subjected to a search of his person, albeit under probable cause, without a warrant and prior to a
formal arrest.
Argument: Reasoning:
1)Nothing is more clear than that the Fourth Amendment was meant to prevent wholesale
intrusions upon the personal security of our citizenry, whether these intrusions be termed arrests or
investigatory detentions. Davis v. Mississippi, 394 U.S. 721, 726 727.
2)...the search of the respondent s fingernails went beyond mere physical characteristics...constantly
exposed to the public, United States v. Dionisio, supra, and constituted the type of severe though
brief intrusion upon cherished personal security that is subject to constitutional scrutiny. Terry v.
Ohio, supra, at 24 25.
3)The Court recognized in Chimel v. California, 395 U.S. 752, that the scope of a warrantless
search must be commensurate with the rationale that excepts the search from the warrant
requirement. Chimel authorizes a search of incident to arrest for (1) weapons or (2) incriminating
evidence. Further, Chimel limited the scope of a search incident to arrest to the person placed
under arrest and the area into which an arrestee might reach. 395 U.S., at 763.

Each year the number of leasing agreements continues to grow. There are several advantages of
leasing property instead of owning. The company is protected against obsolescence and can
receive 100% financing with less cost, fixed payments, and more flexibility (Schroeder, Clark,

The biggest notable difference is the handling of each on the financial statements. An operating
lease is similar to a rental agreement so there is no long term liability on the balance sheet. It
allows the lessee to engage in off balance sheet financing. This provides several benefits for the
company to maintain a good financial position. When a company enters a capital lease the asset is
reported on the balance sheet. This results in the debt to total equity increasing and the rate of
return on total assets to decrease. The ratios can negatively affect financing opportunities, the
corporate bond covenants, and management compensation incentives (Schroeder, Clark, amp;
Cathey, 2011). In addition, the depreciation required on the asset in a capital lease will result in a
deferred tax. The funds from operations on the cash flow statement will be higher by the deferred
tax when a capital lease is used (Ingberman, Ronen, amp; Sorter, 1979). The cash from the
operations section on the cash flow must be reconciled to remove noncash items during the period
(Kieso, Weygandt, amp; Warfield, 2007). The company will receive benefits from both types of
leases; the right option for the company will depend on their needs and strategy.
Recommendation
The recommendation for XYZ Trucking Inc. is to sign a short term operating lease with a renewal
option. The uncertainty by XYZ

Piggy In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
Overall, Piggy represents different aspects of government that society often forgets about. He is
intelligent, rational, and, like Ralph, civilized. Piggy furthers the theme through his characteristics,
words, and actions. On the other hand, Golding places a character in the novel that eventually
disrupts all order and strives for complete mayhem because of the savagery that grows within him.
This character is the leader of the choir and hunters, Jack Merridew. Jack represents autocracy
through his power hungry, uncivilized and relentless personality. An autocratic government
is a type
of government in which power is placed in one person s hands and in which decisions are made
whether the population agrees or not. From the beginning Jack has desired to be the one in
charge. I ought to be chief... because I m chapter chorister and head boy. I can sing C sharp
(Golding 22). Just because Jack can sing C sharp does not mean he should be the one in charge,
but he does not see it that way. He desires power so badly that he uses the younger boys
innocence to get them to join his group. Jack will not accept the role the boys give him. Ralph
names him chief of hunting since he did not win the vote, however Jack desires to be the overall
chief. Ron Carter discusses the different characters in William Goldings Lord of the Flies; in fact,
one of the characters he discusses is Jack Merridew. Carter states that Jack is a captivating leader

Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia
My research topic is about Leukemia. My goal is to inform about what leukemia is, the causes,
the risk factors, the history of the disease, how it is treated, and how it could be treated in the
future to increase curability and reduce mortality. My focus is going to be on a specific form of
leukemia, called Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, or AML3. It is called AML3 because it is the M3
subtype of a form of leukemia called Acute Myelocytic Leukemia.
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It forms when there is a mutation in the stem

and are put into the bloodstream while still immature. Since the blood is full of these immature cells,

Although many of the drugs used now are the same when AML3 was first discovered, we have
found better ways of implementing them, and newer drugs to use either to supplement or replace
altogether. One such drug is all trans retinoic acid. all trans retinoic acid, or ATRA, is a drug that
induces differentiation of leukemic promyelocytes into mature granulocytes. . . (Coombs et al.) .
On its own, ATRA produced complete remission rates of up to 72%, but unfortunately the patients
suffered from frequent relapses. Another newer drug implemented in clinical settings was Arsenic
Trioxide, or ATO. ATO was first utilised in APL patients in the early 1990s, and led to a high CR
rate with relatively long term remissions when used as a single agent. In preclinical models, the
combination of ATRA and ATO demonstrated synergism in inducing differentiation and apoptosis,
allowing for targeted therapy of APL without chemotherapy. (Coombs et al.). Basically, on their
own, both drugs work fairly well, but together they work with each other to kill the leukemic cells.
However, this was only in models. They still needed to prove themselves in a clinical environment
over a wide range of patients. A group of South Asian cancer centers took the

Since then the demand for young girls has rocket through the skies. Many believe that the problem
persists because Westerners go to third world countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and
Vietnam where sex tourism is highly known. Recently, a search discovered that local men also have
a high demand for young girls. Inclusive, many villages in Southeast Asia have several brothels.
Astonishing to many, the members of those communities in fact accept such places where
prostitution occurs because in those cultures women are subject as inferiors (Meade). Modern
Slavery as many call it has carried on in our world for many years and we still need to overcome it.
Today, sadly, child sex trafficking in Southeast Asia is alarming. According to the Borjen Project,
the World Health Organization estimates that in Thailand there are currently two million sex
workers, eighty percent of whom are women under 18 years. One third of the victims in prostitution
were children (Human Trafficking). Most of the victims of sex trafficking are children and women
from minorities. Ethnic minorities and women and girls from the northern Hill tribes are especially
vulnerable due to their lack of citizenship (Human Trafficking). Legal status counts for the number
one reason why people are trafficked since they do not count with any legal protection from any law
and government. In addition, since the minorities and many other ethnic groups do not obtain

SAE 30 Motor Oil
One form of resistance to flow is due to the viscosity of the liquid. Viscosity is the amount of
work needed to move one box of liquid against another box of liquid. Every liquid has it s own
value for this resistance to flow. SAE 30 motor oil has a lower viscosity and flows much easier
than SAE 50 motor oil. The values for water are lower than for the motor oil. Another
characteristic of any liquid is its attraction to a surface. It attaches itself to any surface and cannot
be moved. The liquid in the box on the very surface of a pipe does not flow or move. It always
remains stationary. The liquid in the box above it has to slide against it and that requires an amount
of energy to overcome friction between the two boxes . The higher

Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would...
Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would function as the binding force holding
the growing polypeptide chain of the amino acid to the peptidyl site. This is in correlation to the
process of translation, in which the RNA is translated into a polypeptide chain with the aid of
Ribosomal RNA and transfer RNA. To begin the process prior to treatment, first the initiation
process starts through tRNA and methionine serving as catalyst to form a complete ribosome in
an empty A site. The RNA s from the A site are linked to the P site which allows the appropriate
amino acids to connect with RNA using the A site as an amino acidstorage for the polypeptide
chain. Without the P site, or the blockage of it, there would be no... Show more content on

De Methylation is the removal of methyl groups from DNA all together, which would lead to active
corresponding cancer genes thus enhancing the threat. So far it is clear to scientists that
Methylation of DNA directly influences gene expression, cancer being abnormal in expression
patterns. In repressing or stimulating methylation in the cell, research indicates that transcription
of cancer cells can be repressed which could lead to cancer gene arrest. This drug would be a
good candidate for an anti cancer drug because if we re able to correct the DNA methylation in
cancer cells, they would be able to behave normally. Methylation inhibitors could assist in
reactivating epigenetically silenced genes in cancer and reverse aberrant DNA methylation
restoring regular gene functions and tumor cell growth arrest.
The group of genes that would cause the most problems for an organism if mutated would be the
Homeobox Genes. The Homeobox Genes are a class of regulatory genes that are used to help
regulate the gene expression, and assist with body structure formation during early embryonic

Spastic Paraplegia Essay
Hereditary spastic paraplegias (HSPs) are genetically heterogeneous disorders, which are
characterized by lower extremity spasticity and weakness. HSP is often caused by mutations in
SPG genes, but it may be also produced by inborn errors of metabolism [1,2]. Next generation
sequencing (NGS) is helpful for investigating patients in whom geneticsdoes not fully meets the
clinical presentation. We performed NGS in adult twins and found compound pathogenic mutations
in MTHFR and POLG1 genes, which were consistent with metabolic changes, including
hyperhomocysteinemia decreased activity of MTHFR and mitochondrial respiratory chain.

The 1760T and 752T alleles were in complete linkage disequilibrium, in cis position, in previous
reports [4,5]. The genomic position of the third mutation, c.156_158dup (p.Gln55dup, n. 1184_

the biochemical and metabolic abnormalities. Fasting serum homocysteine was 150 Вµmol/l
before treatment and decreased below 70 Вµmol/L after treatment, in both cases. Analyses on skin
fibroblasts from one of the patients showed decrease of MTHFR activity (1.9 nmol/mg/h vs 6.1
nmol/mg/h in control fibroblasts). The MTHFR p.Arg157Gln mutation is located near the binding
site of riboflavin. Consistently, adding riboflavin in culture medium produced a 3 fold increase of
MTHFR activity in the patient s fibroblasts. The normal cellular uptake of labelled cobalamin

Watching Tv Essay
Imagine a world where the freedom to binge watch seven, eight, or fifteen episodes of your favorite
TV shows is nonexistent. This thought alone surely would evoke a unique terror in the hearts of
many children, teenagers, and, funnily enough, adults as well. However, with the glorious
invention of Netflix, people have been able to watch their favorite movies and televisionshows
whenever they d like, at whatever pace they d like.
Ever since Netflix was purchased in my household, I have been blessed with the opportunity to
watch each season of Friends, The Office, Gossip Girl, and One Tree Hill. And even better, I
was able to zoom through hours of episodes whenever I had a free moment to spare. Each show
was at mercy of my remote. I could command my television to play any episode I wished, from any
show that I wished, and within the next 60 seconds I would be watching it. My friends, with
Netflix we now have the freedom to be kings and queens of our television sets, an authority we
didn t even know that we needed so desperately.
There s a sense of demand surrounding our world today. When we want something, we expect to
receive it as quickly as possible, and when things don t come to us as promptly as we d like we get
angry. It s the way we ve all been inclined to feel. Although we all know the world obviously
doesn t revolve around us, it s difficult for us to act as though this fact is true. In the dark corners
of our minds we believe that our lives are more

Cause And Effect Of School Shootings
High school shootings have been occurring all over the country. All incidents leading to one or
more deaths: Jonesboro, Fayetteville, Edinboro, Pearl, Moses Lake, Grayson, Olivehurst, Bethel,
West Paducah, and many more. It will never happen to me, you could say, well, it could.y Behind
school shootings students spend one hundred and eighty days per year at school, they spend so
much time getting an education, but is the environment they re in actually safe? There are many
causes of school shootings and so they are effects.
The reality of the situation is that there are many numbers of reasons that a school shooting may
happen. There have been 142 school shootings in the United States since 2013, as indicated by a
record made by Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
There are many reasons we need to use for the reasons for school shootings however the most
prevalent one is harassing. According to nobullying.com, ВЁOver 77 percent of students have been
bullied verbally, mentally, and physically. Each day about 160,000 students miss school because of
bullying or because of their fear of being bullied.ВЁ According to nveee.org, ВЁ86% of students
said, other kids picking on them, making fun of them or bullying them causes teenagers to turn
to lethal violence in schools.ВЁ When a student gets harassed or bullied it adds anger inside of
them and hate. The feeling of being picked on and having this negative attention can make a
child act out or feel hatred and somehow want a way to let the anger out. They could also have it
all stuffed inside with all of these horrible thoughts and one day decide to explode which could
result in a horrible outcome. Emotional wellness issues have been frequently shown another big
cause of these shootings. Most school shooters were mentally sick or demonstrated side effects of
psychological wellness issues. An opportunity for mental and psychiatric help could help stop these
shootings. According to newyorker.com, ВЁ, from 2011 and 2013, more people believe that mass
shootings result from a failure of the mental health system than from easy access to guns. Eighty
per cent of the population believes that mental illness is at least partially to

The Laocoon Group
The Laocoon Group from page 96 in our text (Fig. 3.30). This statue depicts a scene from Virgil s
Aeneid. The scene takes place shortly after attempting to warn the Trojan s not to bring the horse
into the city, Laocoon goes to the altar of Poseidon with his sons to make a sacrifice when all
three are attacked and killed by two sea serpents sent by the gods. This was because of the warning
and it is even mentioned that is specifically for throwing his spear at the horse and piercing it.
One reason I chose this piece is because of the intricacy of this beautiful work. The expressions on
the faces of not only on Laocoon and his sons but also the serpents truly bring to life the words of
Virgil in the Aeneid. The anguish on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In particular the Pyramid of Chefren which is protected by the Sphinx, a mythical creature with
the body of a lion and the head of a human. The book mentions, The aloof tranquility of the human
face, perhaps a portrait of the pharaoh (Page 14, Culture and Values). This is another example of
how the art in Egypt was more to glorify the rulers than a tribute to the gods. Even the purpose of
the pyramids shows that they thought they would go to another existence and rule there as well,
taking great amounts of their material possessions from this world with them.
There is a similar theme in some of the Chinese art we have seen in our text and that I have found
on the internet. For example, The Great Wall of China shows the power of the emperor and his
ability to use that power. This was done to some extent by the Greeks (such as the Parthenon) but
there was always a theme of the gods reflecting their protection. In Chinese architecture we see
animals such as lions and mythical creatures such as dragons protecting the buildings which are a
contrast of the gods protecting the buildings of Greece.
The statues discovered near the tomb of Shih Huang ti showing that the belief of life after death
and protection of the dead is very important as with the Egyptians. These examples of Chinese are

Essay On Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
The Diagnosis and Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
There are many factors to consider in the evaluation and treatment of Obsessive compulsive
disorder (OCD). This paper will discuss the strategies that have proven most effective in treating the
disorder, including: drug therapy, cognitive therapy, and family based therapy. It will focus on the
benefits of flexibility, emphasizing combination therapy, especially with cognitive behavioral
therapy (CBT).
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) has become an increasingly familiar disorder within the
world of health and medicine. The recurring obsessions and compulsions associated with the
disorder seem quite easy to identify, yet the acknowledgement of OCD in children had ... Show

In this method, patients are guided into conscious confrontation with the objects and situations that
serve as the triggers of their obsessive fears. Following exposure, patients are taught how to abstain
from the obsessive habits that they have constructed to relieve their anxieties. This treatment is
quite similar to conditioning in that the response prevention immediately follows the exposure,
maximizing the reinforcement effectiveness of the therapy. The idea behind this treatment is that
repeated exposure to the anxiety producing stimulus leads to the patient s habituation and
progression in overcoming the disorder. Additionally, the realization that obsessive fears do not
materialize during ERP appears to reduce the potency of the obsessions (Wagner, 2000).
The second form of CBT that has proven to be successful is the RIDE theory. In this theory,
encounters and enactments of OCD symptoms are broken down into four different stages: R, I, D,
and E. In the R stage, individuals are taught to recognize OCD thoughts as impractical to the child s
normal being. By doing this they could realize their urges and take the necessary steps in dismissing
them from their consciousness. Once they have done this they are taught the I stage. In this stage
they must insist that they are in fact in control of their behavior. This assertion puts them in the
driver s seat where they

Cause of Eating Disorders Essays
Cause of Eating Disorders In America, today we often hear of people who suffer from illness
such as cancer, aids etc. what we often don t hear about is the illness that effects a lot of people
each year that being eating disorders. Whenever I hear about eating disorders it remains me of
one of my cousin who had suffered from anorexia. It all started when her family and
acquaintances started to say that she was fat and chubby. In her family everyone is very slim and
tall so her brothers started teasing and calling her fatty and used to say that she need to loose
weight otherwise nobody will marry her or even wants to be with her. She used to worry so much

For example they might loose fifty pounds and still think they are too fat. They eat very little, if
any at all, but most of them claim that they do not get hungry. It is a very dangerous and serious
disease. Sports are one of the factors that lead to eating disorders. Gymnasts and dancers have to
maintain a small skinny frame. They tried to maintain or loose weight to a stay in shape. There
are many other sports were athletes have eating disorders. Some examples are track, swimming,
cross country, youth football and other sports. In order to maintain their weight most of them
eat less and they over exercise to keep them in shape. Another cause of this sometimes fatal
disease has to do with body image and peer pressure. A person with eating disorder typically
suffers from a body image disturbance that can impact many areas his or her life. Most women
are given the message at a very young age that in order to be happy and successful, they must be
thin. For example, every time you walk into a store you are surrounded by the images of
emaciated models that appear on the front cover of all the fashion magazines. Thousands of
teenage girls are starving themselves this very minute trying to attain what fashion industry
considers to be the ideal figure. The average model weights less than an average woman does.
Teenagers need to realize society s ideal body image is not achievable. The photos we see in the

Statistical Test For Your Data Analysis
Data Analysis and Interpretation In selecting the appropriate statistical test for your data
analysis, you need to identify the question or hypothesis for the study. Are you trying to compare
groups, interested in finding out if there is a relationship between two or more variables, or are
you trying to predict. Some factors to consider as well are the following: (1) Research design,
(2) Level of measurement: nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio, (3) Number of groups, and if they
are correlated (dependent) or independent, (4) Number of variables, and know which is the
dependent and independent variable, and (5) Know when to choose a parametric versus a non
parametric test. The flowchart and the Appendix E section of the book on How to Use SPSS
eighth edition of Brian Cronk (2014), was used as a guide to answer the questions below. Answer
this question for the four studies below: Which statistical test you would use to analyze the data
collected for these variables? Study A* Variable 1 is psychiatric patients gender; and Variable 2 is
whether or not the patient has attempted suicide in the past 12 months. Answer Chi square test of
independence tests whether or not two variables are independent of each other (Cronk, 2014). The
question here is, is there a relationship between gender and whether or not the patient has attempted
suicide in the past 12 months? Does the relationship differ for males and females? The independent
variable is gender and the dependent variable

Helicopter Parents Should Be A Serious Issue
Every now and then, we hear worried parents give a call to university officers, asking them to
take care of their children. Additionally, some of them compel their children to make decisions
based on what the parents want, believing that children are not mature enough and that it is the
shortcut for their children to succeed. Whether helicopter parents should be a serious issue has
raised a wide of variety of debate in society. In my viewpoint, helicopter parents have become a
severe problem nowadays. The first reason is that parents are more apt to intervene in their children
s lives than before due to circumstance, so there are more helicopter parents than before. The
second reason is that those children with helicopter parents are inclined to have mental problems,
rely on others more, and are vulnerable compared to normal children. Once they leave their parents,
they are not capable of solving problems by themselves, and hence, cannot adapt themselves to the
competitive environment and lose the opportunity to succeed. There is a controversy over whether
helicopter parents are prevalent. In the articles Kids of Helicopter Parents Are Sputtering Out by
Julie Lythcott Haims, the author believes helicopter parents widely exist owing to the fact that she
has met numerous students who did not show interest in their study or activities, while serving as a
dean in Stanford University. They did so not because of their own will but because of the
requirement from their parents.

Analysis Of Forrester s Cloud Computing Essay
AUTHORS: SATYAJEET BINWADE ROLL NO.: 1941 (FE9) ASHISH MOKASHI ROLL
NO.: 1913 (FE9) INTRODUCTION Forrester defines cloud computing as: A pool of abstracted,
highly scalable and managed compute infrastructure capable of hosting end customer and
applications billed by consumption. As the name suggests, cloud computing is a way of storing
the data on a server instead of a hardware so that we can access the data from the compatible
devices. This method gives us more ease of accessibility and we can also secure our data by
giving limited access through a username and password to the server being used. Nowadays,
most of the people use mobile phones which have an internal memory of 8 GB or 16 GB. If we
need extra memory then we shall have to extend it using a memory card. If the inbuilt memory
of mobile phone would be more, the cost of production will increase, resulting in decrease in
market of the device. And as we all know, the support to external storage like memory card is
also limited for a phone. It is problematic to carry a pen drive along with us everywhere. The
other problem is the data stored is vulnerable to viruses. To overcome these problems, cloud
computing was introduced. This gives freedom to access or share data without hardware. Cloud
services exhibits of online file storage, social networking sites, web mail and online business
applications. These are the services which changed the face of networking. By this facility we can

  • 2. Monuments Men Book Report Monuments Men Summary and Strong Response Essay Personally, history intrigues me. I love learning about things that helped shape our country and others. There s only one catch, listening to a teacher lecture about history kills me. It is, in my opinion, the most boring thing in the world ever to sit through. It s not the teachers fault by any means, they re just doing their job. It s just that I can t stand listening to lecture after lecture. So when I can do research on my own, or learn about it in my own way, it makes it so much more enjoyable. While reading this book, Edsel brought things to my attention that I never would ve have thought were of importance back then. For example, the whole book is about art preservation and the importance of art to societies around the world, something that I never really cared about until after I read this book. Edsel shows the importance of art in historythrough this book, which is that art connects everyone because it is a representation or reminder of our heritage and culture. From this viewpoint, Edsel broadens his audience immensely, and understand and appreciate art like he does. The story begins in the city of Karlsruhe, Germany. Karlsruhe was a city that the Jews had lived in peacefully for a great number of years.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You re also introduced to the art of conservation and preservation of art. I had no clue that there was even such a thing, I just thought that all art slowly degraded over time no matter what. I didn t know that there were actual procedures that specialist go through to keep this art in spectacular condition for hundreds or even thousands of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The statue is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. Brought to the United States as segments, the Statue of Liberty stands in the New York Harbor on Ellis Island. Between 1886 and 1924, Lady Liberty became a symbol of hope and opportunity for a new life. The Statue of Liberty became a major port of entrance for millions of European immigrants. Many who entered the New York Harbor were escaping tyranny, oppression, and poverty. To these anxious newcomers, the Statue s uplifted torch did not suggest enlightenment, as her creators intended, but rather, welcome. A poem called The New Colossus, written by Emma Lazarus was mounted on the statue s pedestal in the early 1900s. It states, Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A strong majority of the people of China at the time were very upset that the government chose to do little to nothing about it. People were planning to take a stand. They believed that with the strength of their own fists, they could win, hence the name Boxers , and thus the Boxer Rebellionwas born. Although, the influence of Western culture in Chinastarting in the 1800s brought many positive impacts to China, inevitably, as a result of the Opium Wars, the Scramble for Concessions , and Christianity, led to the Boxers taking a stand. Many would argue it is the true number one, primary reason that the Boxer Rebellion occurred in the first place. The spread of Christianity in China at this time was an extremely convincing sing of Western influence. Luella Miner was among the westerners that happened to be in China during the Boxer Rebellion. According to her, their motto was essentially Kill the foreign devils, Kill...Kill...Kill! . This motto would greatly explain the violence and aggression shown by the Boxers during the rebellion. Many Boxers claim to have been primarily annoyed with the Western influence in China at the time. Christianity would have played a key role in demonstrating Western imperialism, which is what would explain the murdering of thousands of Christian missionaries and Chinese Christians living in China at the time. When considered, there are not many things that scream Western culture more than Western religion itself. Opium was only a substance that many Chinese enjoyed abusing and Western ways of ruling were heavily affected by that country s religious beliefs. This is why Christianity would have received the primary amounts of hate from the Boxers. Many Chinese Christians and missionaries were murdered as a result of the Boxer Rebellion. Approximately 32,000 and 200 missionaries were murdered. This figure more clearly can demonstrate the hate towards these Christians, and the effects they were having on the development ... On Saturday September 21 the terror began and continued for eighty hours. Al Shabaab militants brought chaos and confusion to the people of Nairobi and 67 people were counted as loss to the lunacy that is thought to be heroic actions for Allah. Most people would say that suspicious behavior is someone acting strangely trying to hide there appearance but the truth is certain for both cases as this group of about seven cowards moved towards the mall with guns blazing. Frank Musungu, who worked for the Kenyan navy was advised along with other military personnel not to go to high profile malls like this one in case of a terrorist attack. Munsungu, knowing this danger carried a hand gun with him to the little cafГ© near the entrance of the mall where the terrorist arrived with guns blazing. The events that took place the day those crazy people walking into the west gate mall were truly tragic and need to be assessed. Men who were told not to go to this mall for security reasons did so anyway. The problem is not necessary to the solution in this case because it is obvious that the reason to take action was before the events took place. Suspicious behavior was already a factor concerning the safety of the west gate mall. Why actions were not taken to detour this atrocity is beyond my knowledge and understanding as to why precautions were not taken to neutralize the enemy before it happened. ... The resistance to vaccinations is a well known occurrence, due to the positive effects vaccinations have had we forget the tragic consequences of the past s fearsome infectious disease such as smallpox. Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it, George Santayana. Studying history is necessary to avoid repeating past mistakes. Despite overwhelming evidence supporting the safety and benefits of vaccination, this fear has proven resistant to information. Parents are increasingly questioning the safety of and need for vaccines as a result, vaccination rates have fallen to dangerously low levels in certain communities. Recent outbreaks of vaccinepreventable diseases in the United States have drawn attention to this epidemic. While vaccine acceptance remains high in general, fear of vaccines has grown dramatically in many developed countries. In some communities, this fear has led to significantly increased rates of vaccine refusal which are associated with increases in illness and death from vaccine preventable diseases. During the war, Canada had played a very important role under the British Empire. Canadian soldiers were sent under the British Empire to capture Vimy Ridge, (a monument) which was held by the Germans. There are two fossil species available to the study of Ardipithecus: Ar. ramidus and Ar. kadabba (Gibbons, 2009). There is much greater evidence to analyze Ar. ramidus, a hominine that lived from the Late Miocene to the Early Pliocene (Gibbons, 2009). Ramdius has a small cranial capacity that is metrically and morphologically derived in the direction of later hominids and shows a reduction in upper canine size (White et al., 2009, p. 80). According to White et. al. (2009), this signifies that Ar. Ramidus was an omnivore, and while its diet may have included some hard foods, it generally stuck to ripe fruit (White et al., 2009, p. 64, p. 80). Adding further evidence, Ardipithecus does not have sharp, daggerlike upper canines seen in chimpanzees (Gibbons, 2009, p. 1599) Moreover, the muzzle of Ar. Ramidus juts out less than a chimpanzee s does, also likening the hominid to its ancestors (Gibbons, 2009, p. 1599). However, Ardipithecus differentiates significantly from Australopithecus in the types of plants it did eat. Australopithecus has a diet of more than 30% C4 plants while the diet of Ar. Ramdius vary only between ~10 and 25% C4 (White et al., 2009, p. 79). This delineates that Ardipithecus exploited a wider range of woodland resources than chimpanzees. It also did but did not have access to the open biotype foods later consumed by Austraolopithecus (White et al., 2009, p. 79). Socially, Ardipithicus lacks the delayed canine eruption found in chimpanzees (White et al., 2009, p. 79). Every liquid has it s own value for this resistance to flow. SAE 30 motor oil has a lower viscosity and flows much easier than SAE 50 motor oil. The values for water are lower than for the motor oil. Another characteristic of any liquid is its attraction to a surface. It attaches itself to any surface and cannot be moved. The liquid in the box on the very surface of a pipe does not flow or move. It always remains stationary. The liquid in the box above it has to slide against it and that requires an amount of energy to overcome friction between the two boxes . The higher ... Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would function as the binding force holding the growing polypeptide chain of the amino acid to the peptidyl site. This is in correlation to the process of translation, in which the RNA is translated into a polypeptide chain with the aid of Ribosomal RNA and transfer RNA. To begin the process prior to treatment, first the initiation process starts through tRNA and methionine serving as catalyst to form a complete ribosome in an empty A site. The RNA s from the A site are linked to the P site which allows the appropriate amino acids to connect with RNA using the A site as an amino acidstorage for the polypeptide chain. Without the P site, or the blockage of it, there would be no... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... De Methylation is the removal of methyl groups from DNA all together, which would lead to active corresponding cancer genes thus enhancing the threat. So far it is clear to scientists that Methylation of DNA directly influences gene expression, cancer being abnormal in expression patterns. In repressing or stimulating methylation in the cell, research indicates that transcription of cancer cells can be repressed which could lead to cancer gene arrest. This drug would be a good candidate for an anti cancer drug because if we re able to correct the DNA methylation in cancer cells, they would be able to behave normally. Methylation inhibitors could assist in reactivating epigenetically silenced genes in cancer and reverse aberrant DNA methylation restoring regular gene functions and tumor cell growth arrest. The group of genes that would cause the most problems for an organism if mutated would be the Homeobox Genes. The Homeobox Genes are a class of regulatory genes that are used to help regulate the gene expression, and assist with body structure formation during early embryonic development. Pertaining to Transcription, there are a couple factors typically encoded by the proteins in the Homeobox gene, within the gene, that bind to and control activities of other genes in the Homeobox Gene family (http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/geneFamily/homeobox). It will never happen to me, you could say, well, it could.y Behind school shootings students spend one hundred and eighty days per year at school, they spend so much time getting an education, but is the environment they re in actually safe? There are many causes of school shootings and so they are effects. The reality of the situation is that there are many numbers of reasons that a school shooting may happen. There have been 142 school shootings in the United States since 2013, as indicated by a record made by Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. There are many reasons we need to use for the reasons for school shootings however the most prevalent one is harassing. According to nobullying.com, ВЁOver 77 percent of students have been bullied verbally, mentally, and physically. Each day about 160,000 students miss school because of bullying or because of their fear of being bullied.ВЁ According to nveee.org, ВЁ86% of students said, other kids picking on them, making fun of them or bullying them causes teenagers to turn to lethal violence in schools.ВЁ When a student gets harassed or bullied it adds anger inside of them and hate. The feeling of being picked on and having this negative attention can make a child act out or feel hatred and somehow want a way to let the anger out. They could also have it all stuffed inside with all of these horrible thoughts and one day decide to explode which could result in a horrible outcome. Emotional wellness issues have been frequently shown another big cause of these shootings. Most school shooters were mentally sick or demonstrated side effects of psychological wellness issues. An opportunity for mental and psychiatric help could help stop these shootings. Even the purpose of the pyramids shows that they thought they would go to another existence and rule there as well, taking great amounts of their material possessions from this world with them. There is a similar theme in some of the Chinese art we have seen in our text and that I have found on the internet. For example, The Great Wall of China shows the power of the emperor and his ability to use that power. This was done to some extent by the Greeks (such as the Parthenon) but there was always a theme of the gods reflecting their protection. In Chinese architecture we see animals such as lions and mythical creatures such as dragons protecting the buildings which are a contrast of the gods protecting the buildings of Greece. In this method, patients are guided into conscious confrontation with the objects and situations that serve as the triggers of their obsessive fears. Following exposure, patients are taught how to abstain from the obsessive habits that they have constructed to relieve their anxieties. This treatment is quite similar to conditioning in that the response prevention immediately follows the exposure, maximizing the reinforcement effectiveness of the therapy. The idea behind this treatment is that repeated exposure to the anxiety producing stimulus leads to the patient s habituation and progression in overcoming the disorder. Additionally, the realization that obsessive fears do not materialize during ERP appears to reduce the potency of the obsessions (Wagner, 2000). The second form of CBT that has proven to be successful is the RIDE theory. In this theory, encounters and enactments of OCD symptoms are broken down into four different stages: R, I, D, and E. In the R stage, individuals are taught to recognize OCD thoughts as impractical to the child s normal being. By doing this they could realize their urges and take the necessary steps in dismissing them from their consciousness. Once they have done this they are taught the I stage. In this stage they must insist that they are in fact in control of their behavior. This assertion puts them in the driver s seat where they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, some of them compel their children to make decisions based on what the parents want, believing that children are not mature enough and that it is the shortcut for their children to succeed. Whether helicopter parents should be a serious issue has raised a wide of variety of debate in society. In my viewpoint, helicopter parents have become a severe problem nowadays. The first reason is that parents are more apt to intervene in their children s lives than before due to circumstance, so there are more helicopter parents than before. The second reason is that those children with helicopter parents are inclined to have mental problems, rely on others more, and are vulnerable compared to normal children. Once they leave their parents, they are not capable of solving problems by themselves, and hence, cannot adapt themselves to the competitive environment and lose the opportunity to succeed. There is a controversy over whether helicopter parents are prevalent. In the articles Kids of Helicopter Parents Are Sputtering Out by Julie Lythcott Haims, the author believes helicopter parents widely exist owing to the fact that she has met numerous students who did not show interest in their study or activities, while serving as a dean in Stanford University. Analysis Of Forrester s Cloud Computing Essay AUTHORS: SATYAJEET BINWADE ROLL NO.: 1941 (FE9) ASHISH MOKASHI ROLL NO.: 1913 (FE9) INTRODUCTION Forrester defines cloud computing as: A pool of abstracted, highly scalable and managed compute infrastructure capable of hosting end customer and applications billed by consumption. As the name suggests, cloud computing is a way of storing the data on a server instead of a hardware so that we can access the data from the compatible devices. This method gives us more ease of accessibility and we can also secure our data by giving limited access through a username and password to the server being used. Nowadays, most of the people use mobile phones which have an internal memory of 8 GB or 16 GB. If we need extra memory then we shall have to extend it using a memory card. If the inbuilt memory of mobile phone would be more, the cost of production will increase, resulting in decrease in market of the device. And as we all know, the support to external storage like memory card is also limited for a phone. It is problematic to carry a pen drive along with us everywhere. The other problem is the data stored is vulnerable to viruses. To overcome these problems, cloud computing was introduced. This gives freedom to access or share data without hardware.
