How To Kick Drum
1) I would utilize my Techno Beams #701 thru #704 with some yellow color at almost its full intensity
and tilt them all the way up as I also load them with a color chase effect so that they can have this
alternation pattern with each other in which all of these fixtures would open and close their dimmers
as they alternate with each other, I would also play with the speed of this effect to get it as close as
possible with the drummer since I think it would be a great idea if these fixtures fire up with the beat
of the song as the drummer plays kicks his kick drum.
2) I would use my Mac 700 Washes #201 thru #204 to light up my stage with some cyan color and
evenly distributed on both stage left and right with an intensity of 45 to create a very interesting look
as I also use my Mac 700 profiles #301 thru #304 in a magenta spiral rotating gobo pattern with a very

Pan-Asian American Racial Identity
Invisibility threat: The consequences of being rendered invisible for less prototypical Asian American
subgroups
Asian Americans often come together to advocate for their community in various ways. For example,
to raise awareness of the lack of representation of Asian Americans in Hollywood, people may
highlight Asian American actors that should be given more recognition and roles in Hollywood. Some
names that tend to make these lists are Constance Wu, Jamie Chung, Lucy Liu, Steven Yeun, or John
Cho (cite). However, the names of South Asian and Southeast Asian actors such as Hannah Simone,
Aasif Mandvi, and Lana Candor may be less likely to be listed. Similarly, to raise awareness of the
racism and prejudice faced by the Asian American community, ... Show more content on

Consider the frustrations of bisexual and/or transgender individuals when the LGBTQ community s
experiences are defined largely by the experiences of gay and lesbian individuals (LGBT Advisory
Committee, 2011). Self identified bisexuals make up the largest single population within the LGBTQ
community in the U.S. (Egan, Edelman, Sherrill, 2008; Herbenick et al., 2010; Mosher, Chandra,
Jones, 2005). However, both research on the LGBTQ community and funding for LGBTQ
organizations tend to focus exclusively on gay and lesbian individuals, rendering bisexual individuals
invisible and sidelining or eclipsing their particular needs (Miller, AndrĂŠ, Ebin, Bessonova, 2007).

Assyrian Empire Essay
For a few centuries after the death of Shamshi Adad I, Assyrian cities were subjugated by a succession
of outsiders: Babylonians under Hammurabi, Hittites and Mitanni Hurrians. From 1791 to 1360 A.D.
control over Assyria passed back and forth, although Assyria itself remained more or less stable. After
a power struggle between the Hittites and Mitanni, the Hittites successfully broke the power of the
Mitanni in the region. Assyria then began to take control over territories that had belonged to Mitanni.
The Hittites battled with the Assyrians, but the Assyrian king Ashur Uballit stamped out any
remaining Mitanni or Hittite control over northern Mesopotamia.
The Middle Empire
King Ashur Uballit, who ruled from c. 1353 to 1318 B.C., succeeded in gathering all former Mitanni
regions under his control. He also battled the Hurrians, Hittites and the Kassite king of Babylon. Ashur
Uballit married his daughter to the Babylonian king, angering the Babylonian people. They promptly
slew the king and replaced him with a pretender to the throne. King Ashur Uballit then invaded
Babylon, killed the pretender and placed another Kassite royal on the throne. King Ashur Uballit
solidified his power by conquering any remaining Hittite or Mitanni rulers, finally taking ... Show

King Adad Nirari implemented the policy of deportation of segments of the population from one
region to another, which remained a standard Assyrian policy from then on. This policy was meant to
head off any uprisings or rebellions by moving the potentially rebellious to other regions of the
Assyrian empire. Although the deportees found their lives disrupted, the Assyrian intention was not to
harm the people, but to make the best use of their talents where their skills were needed. Families
were moved together along with their belongings and the empire provided transportation and

Essay on 16th Century English Weapons
16th Century English Weapons
During the 16th century England and much of Europe found itself in turmoil and in a constant state of
war. The outbreak of fighting led to the invention and development of new weapons and the growth
and change of weapons of old. The development of weapons was a trademark of the time, with a sort
of renaissance, or re birth in the field of weaponry (Miller). The technology was highlighted by the
invention of gunpowder by the Chinese which eventually found its way to England (Grolier).
However, the use of gunpowder was minimal, because the use of had yet to be perfected. The
technological advancement most useful during the period was progression of the metals used in
weaponry. The new forms could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The missile weapons were fired or projected from a distance and were found effective due to their
range, but accuracy became important and so did the skill involved in warfare.
Handheld weapons represented a large portion of the weapons used during 16th Century warfare
(Iannuzzo). Most commonly used was the sword. Throughout the middles ages, metals were
developed to withstand more abuse and thus became more effective (Iannuzzo). The metals now had
to strong enough to pierce through the newly developed armor of the time (Revell, Armour ). The use
of carbonized iron, which was heated, beaten, and cut the process repeated many times over to form a
solid and durable and lighter than previous swords. The double edge sword was far superior in
strength and sharpness of the other swords of the time (Grolier). The 16th century also brought forth
the use of flamberge sword that had an undulating cutting edge, that was believed to be able to easily
pierce the armor, but was too awkward for battle and was eventually abandoned. By this time the
Great sword, sometimes over six feet in length, were being deployed. This sword was deadly only
because of the pure size of it. The great swords required enormous strength just to hold and even more
to be effective. Eventually the great sword became too awkward to use in battle just as the flamberge.
These two inferior swords took a back seat to the smaller and more agile estoc sword. The estoc had a

Childhood Transition
The transition from childhood to adulthood is a defining phase in the lives of many people. For some,
it involves tradition and celebration; while for others it occurs in a defining moment. For me, the
transition was a gradual process involving growth through leadership in middle school and high
school. As a young child in elementary school, I was very shy and anxious about everything. As I
continued to grow older, I started to grow out of my introverted nature with the help of my friends,
teachers, and family. In fact, I started to go in the opposite direction and became more outgoing. This
trend continued into middle school as I decided to try to run for student council, thinking that it would
help me grow and become more popular. After I won a narrow election and began my work in the
council, I realized that it would drastically change my life. Throughout my years in the middle school
student council, I slowly learned the lessons of leadership, responsibility, and problem solving in a
more realistic setting. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

continued through my freshman year, I slowly realized the truth in that statement. My classmates
looked to me for someone to follow. My teachers held me to a higher standard as a leader, and the
administration saw me as an effective student body representative. I began to take a bigger role in
school, especially as an interviewer for the superintendent and assistant principal positions. I also
pushed to new levels of leadership in student council. As a sophomore, I became the Central Division
Delegate at Large with the help of my advisor and fellow council members. All of these experiences
gave me more lessons in leadership and responsibility and taught me many life skills, including the
ability to compromise, speak in public, and make new friends and

Gray Hat Chapter Summary
Generations Series Book 1 Gray Hats By: Joseph Lieber and Zachary Hammerman Once, there was a
boy named Tom Tapia. He was about 10, almost 11. He loved to play games like Stare_Woofs, or
really any hacking game. When he grew up... he was a hacker, a black hat one. He started out as just a
script kiddy, in high school, changing his grades and charging other students to change theirs. Then he
grew more and more intelligent. He learned how to hack in C++, then all forms of Java, then Lua, and
eventually every programming language. By the time he was 25, he was a very skilled hacker, even
attempted the white house once, almost made it when the daily system reboot threw em out. One day,
he heard a knock on his apartment door while he was playing Stare_Woofs 3. At this point he was 31
years old. This is the CIA. Open up or we will arrest. He opened the door and asked what was

Anne Firor Scott On Seeing And Not Seeing
Anne Firor Scott does not focus primarily on the Progressive Era, but instead on historical invisibility
in her essay On Seeing and Not Seeing: A Case of Historical Invisibility . Historical invisibility in her
treatise of the women s voluntary associations is what she aims to bring awareness for, she admits that
there will always be partial vision to history and asks questions what historians like herself, Mowry,
and Huthmacher need to do to limit this effect. Not limiting its effect will lead to readers being fed
misleading information or crucial details about their subject matters. Since her essay is not centered on
changing the public s view of the Progressive Era it does not have enough substantive information to
answer if women s associations were the most notable reformers of this era. ... Show more content on

What Is The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Flood stories are a part of most ancient civilizations throughout the whole world. Yet arguably the
most well known is the story of Noah and the Ark. Today I am going to go over the other main flood
stories most closely related with the former, and show proof that out of the numerous flood narratives,
this is the most factual and realistic of all of them. First off we have the ancient Mesopotamian
narrative Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is told a story by, an immortal man, that long ago the gods
had decided to destroy the whole world by sending a flood. Upon hearing this information the man
Utanapishtim was able to build a giant ship that he stored all different species of creatures on, and
even some craftsmen for after the flood. Historians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet if it were a copy of such a story, why would all of the dimensions for the ship be factually checked
out as stable and realistic, the ability for caring and keeping alive all of the animals mentioned in both
stories, and that neither the Sumerians or the Israelites were known for their nautical skills. Sumerians
were the first to write the flood account in cuneiform then the Akkadian s carried it on, there were two
types of dialects Babylonian and Assyrian and they each had their own version of the flood story. This
shows that they were recounting the stories that they have been told, writing it in their own style.
Scholars of the Christian faith believe that the recounting of the Noah s flood was told orally and
passed down until Moses eventually wrote it to be apart of the bible. So this makes the origins of the
bible older then all of the other flood

Till We Have Faces
In Till We Have Faces, C. S. Lewis retells the myth of Cupid and Psyche from the point of view of
Psyche s sister, with powerful insight into the nature of human affection and the relationship between
human and divine. In the original myth, Psyche is the youngest of three princesses, so beautiful that
men begin to worship her instead of Venus. The goddess avenges herself by commanding that Psyche
be exposed on a mountain to die, but her son Cupid secretly rescues her, having fallen in love with her.

She is, in the barbarian land of Glome where the story is set, the maternal, earthy fertility goddess
corresponding to the Greek Aphrodite. Orual frequently mentions the sort of holiness that was
associated with Ungit: the smell of blood and sacrifices, the darkness of her temple and the smoke of
incense, and all the mystery and fear of Glome s barbarian religion. Originally, Ungit has no statue to
show her face: only a misshapen black stone, which the old Priest asserts is, in a mystery, Ungit
herself. Towards the end of the book, Orual considers the stone. She finds that rather than having no
face, Ungit has a thousand of them: the unevenness of the stone makes it truly multifaceted, just as
Ungit is intricately bound up in every detail of life in Glome. Orual imagines that one might see a
different face every time one looked at the stone; but the face she sees herself is such as you might see
in a loaf, swollen, brooding, infinitely female. It is an ugly face reflecting the ugly, cruel nature of the
goddess, yet maternal, as Ungit is a fertility goddess though she is a devouring mother.
Ungit s son, the God of the Grey Mountain Cupid in the original myth is as unlike her as can be. His

The Importance Of Gross National Happiness
Before I proceed into the depths of my presentation today, I want you as people to think about the
following questions. Focusing solely on yourself as a productive member of society rather than a
businessman. Have you ever wondered why your favourite park is demolished to peices in order to
build houses or expand roadways? Have you ever felt that your volunteer work is not appreciated or
valued anymore? Have you ever felt that your most productive days in the workplace come from a
foundation of happiness. Hello, my name is Shelby Ward and I am here to present my findings of why
Gross National Happiness is a superior and more effective way to measure a Country s overall well
being.
Currently, the widely accepted measurement of the economic success of a country is found solely in a
number. A country s Gross Domestic Product or GDP. GDP follows the interaction of goods and
services with regards to their production and consumption. By measuring consumer, government and
industry spending along with the balance of trade, the GDP is a reliable indicator of economic health.
Many economists suggest that this is the only way to measure, however as reliable as it is, GDP only
measures one thing Money. For many, an economy s health is determined by several factors. Simply
put, there are more important things to consider like happiness, for example.
First off. Gross Domestic Product is solely and number and speaks nothing about citizens overall well
being. GDP awards events

stakeholders are individuals or groups of people who have a very large influence over the business.
The major desirable stakeholders in any types of businesses are as follows: Shareholders who own a

business Customers who buy the products; services Employees who endeavour tasks within the
business; are paid wages Lenders who are willing to lend money with the intention of receiving

Toxoplasma gondii, Joan Ng Kiat Yee: BM304 revision guide 2015
The physiology, metabolism, biochemistry
Toxoplsama gondii is an intracellular apicomplexan parasite that forms cyst coccidian in warm
blooded animals, primarily in the Felida domestic cats (Shannon et al., 2015). The organism also
causes a wide range of diseases in different intermediate hosts, ranging from animals, such as
mammals and birds to human (Astrid et al., 2000). In human, this parasite poses serious threat by
causing a disease called Toxoplasmosis (Parasites, 2015).
The parasite exits through the faeces of cats. Within the cat s intestinal epithelium, T. gondii parasite
undergoes gametogenesis and mating. This leads to the generation of oocysts containing sporozoites
that are the shed in the cat s faeces, which could readily infect new host cells (Joanne et al., 2013).

The Role of Women in Homer’s Iliad Essay
The Role of Women in Homer s Iliad
Homer s Iliad is undoubtedly focused on its male characters: Achilles, primarily, but also Hector and
Agamemnon. Nevertheless, it seems that the most crucial characters in the epic are female. Homer
uses the characters of Thetis, Andromache, and Helen as a basis for comparison to the male characters.
Homer wants his audience to see and understand the folly of his male characters in choosing war over
peace, aggression over kindness, and honor over family. While the behavior of these characters clearly
speaks for itself, the contrasting attitudes and behaviors of the female characters proffer an alternative;
in comparison, the reader can hardly fail to concur with Homer s message that war, aggression, ...

Thetis is always motivated by her love and pity for her son, two emotions he seems unable to feel
himself. As a loving mother, she is concerned for her son and his future and so ensures that he is aware
of his options. Out of respect for him, she allows Achilles to make his own decision and goes as far as
to support him fully, although the attentive reader can sense that doing so is immensely painful for her.
Therefore, although it superficially seems that Thetis supports war and aggression, her true motives
are far more admirable.
Unlike Thetis, Andromache s values are clear. On the rampart in book six, she makes an impassioned
plea to Hector for reason and peace. Pity me, please! she says, Take your stand on the rampart here,
before you orphan your son and make your wife a widow. (ll. 230 231) When her fears are realized
and Hector is struck down by Achilles, she laments, Hector, what help are you to [Astyanax], now you
are dead? (l. 571) This single statement lays bare the true folly of pride: How can one justify the
preservation of honor at the cost of the destruction of all that one fought for in the first place?
Finally, there is great irony in the lamentations of both Helen and Briseis for Hector and Patroclus
respectively. Helen proclaims her respect for Hector s kindness: Hector, you d win them to my side . . .
you with your gentle temper, all your gentle

Market-Oriented Approaches to Firms
Market Oriented Approaches to Firms
As world markets become globalized, heightened competition and uncertain economic and social
environments pose significant new challenges for firms. It is important for firms to develop
management systems that have the capability to react quickly to change and that promote innovation.
Competitive advantage lies with those firms that have adapted to become learning organizations with
the capacity to constantly monitor external environments to swiftly respond to change (Kauppila et.al,
2011). Today s most successful firms favor information and knowledge, function under less hierarchy
and value team production over the management systems of the past era of mass production (Calerio,
2008). Those systems relied on top down direction, which greatly limited agility in decision making.
Today, global markets demand greater flexibility and on the spot decision making. The answer then
becomes access to relevant information the more knowledge the firm has, the more capable it becomes
in regards to outpacing competitors.
Firms today can benefit greatly from market orientations. This allows for greater flexibility in
generating and integrating crucial information into the business. Internal structures and systems that
have the ability to process knowledge from external boundaries can positively influence internal
responses to marketplace changes and requirements, dramatically improving the ability of the
organization to learn and adapt (Malmgren,

The Music Of Ludwig Van Beethoven
Throughout the course of history there has never been a more influential, creative and versatile
composer as Ludwig Van Beethoven. If not for his ability to expand the way in which music is
created, played and heard, current music would lack the polyphonic sound that is needed in order to
create texture and depth. Beethoven is believed to be purely a classical composer. However, to the
contrary he can also be considered purely romantic. His compositions consisted of a form that was
never heard before and in turn inspired future artists to copy him. This form was believed to have
created the basis for music during the Romantic Era. Ludwig Van Beethoven s ability to break
compositional boundaries, ultimately created an everlasting sound because the forms and style in
which he wrote in, are still used and applied to music today. Ludwig Van Beethoven was born on
December 16, 1770. He grew up in the city of Bonn, Germany, which was in the Electorate of
Cologne, a principality of the Holy Roman Empire (Bio). Beethoven had two younger brothers named
Caspar and Johann. They however were not as musically inclined as young Ludwig. Their mother,
Maria Magdalena van Beethoven, was a slender gentle woman while his father, was a mediocre court
singer better known for his alcoholism than his musical abilities (Bio). At a young age Beethoven s
father pushed him into becoming a musical prodigy by forcing him into rigorous practice regiments
rather than going to school. Hoping that his son

It is because these suppliers are not a union and the price is common based on the market, the supplier

Women During The 19th Century
Men and women play different roles in society. In the beginning of the 19th century, the gap between
males and females was much larger than it is now. Back then men and women were usually assumed
to have certain occupations. For example, in the 1950s women were supposed to become housewives
and stay at home all day cleaning, cooking, or taking care of their children (Parry 1584). Men on the
other hand, were suspected to go out and work all day doing whatever occupation they held. Due to
the media uprising in the 19th century, women began to feel restrained on what they can accomplish.
They began to care about their appearance more than anything else. This is one of the factors that
created the gender gap, but society has always had the gap that has separated the two. This picture was
taken in California in 1921, and it depicts Dr. Louis Estes helping his daughter put on her boxing
gloves while she gets ready to square up against her little brother. The title of the picture describes the
daughter as husky which does not make sense. The word husky, usually applied to overweight
individuals, does not accurately describe the girl in the photo. It is possible that the author may be
referring to her as more masculine than feminine in the picture. This influential image shows the
daughter as taller than both males in the photo which asserts dominance. Also, both Dr. Estes and his
son s eyes, both lead to the daughter s, which makes her the focal point of the image. Dr. Estes

amount of venture capital goes to funding female led enterprises and even a lesser number of capital
firms being women oriented, business loans offer another alternative to financing women owned
businesses. Most finance institutions have come up with strict business regulations thus making access
to business loans for women challenging. Nevertheless, the good news is that there have been
upcoming institutions that appreciate the efforts and the impact women have progressively in the
business work. GoKapital (www.gokapital.com) for example, have made it extremely easy for small
businesses and more so for women to access business loans by doing away with the rigorous
application process as well as some of the daunting requirements. Their loan product that is

alternatives for women entrepreneurs. They have a hustle free application process that can even be

women business owners can take advantage on GoKapital given that they only require a year being in

Literature Review Of The Literature Of Approach And Flight...
Review of the Literature Approach and landing accidents (ALAs) have been a persistent aviation
safety concern. As early as the Wright brothers pioneering efforts of manned flight, controlled landing
without crashing was a target end state of successful flight (Wright Brothers Aeroplane Company,
n.d.). More than a century later, perturbations to the approach and landing phases of flight prevail. In
an earlier study by the FSF ALAR Task Force, the average worldwide fatal ALA rate from 1980
through 1996 was 16.8 per year (FSF, 1999). Between 2007 and 2016, approximately 56% of all fatal
accidents in worldwide commercial operations occurred during the approach and landing phases of
flight (Boeing, 2017). Although substantially less than the fatal ALA rate of 23 per year predicted a
decade earlier (FSF, 1999), this is an average fatal ALA rate of 3.5 per year. However, these numbers
do not account for the nonfatal ALA accidents and incidents resulting in aircraft damage and other
adverse outcomes. While the average fatal ALA rate has been significantly reduced, the ALA risk has
not. Although only as many as 4 percent of all approaches occur in conditions jeopardizing aviation
safety, nearly 97 percent of those at risk approaches are voluntarily continued to landing (FSF, 2017).
According to these numbers, only 3 percent of at risk approaches in commercial aviation are
countered by adherence to the policies and procedures intended to mitigate them. While ALAs occur

two people or countries. Everything that has happened in the past, trades, slavery, war, everything

1963. On April 6, police arrested forty five protesters going from Sixteenth Street Baptist Church to

It is the simplest technique ,with good dynamic performance , robust and gives large benefits. It is
recognized as an alternative method to field oriented control (FOC). Industrial drives with DTC are
present in the market today.DTC is proposed to control electromagnetic torque and stator flux by
directly modifying the stator voltage in accordance with the torque and flux errors DTC has added
advantages over FOC absence of mechanical transducer, no requirement of co ordinate transformation
,and a very simple control scheme with less computational time Though DTC is simple and have fast
transient response, it generates high level common mode voltage variations. To avoid the problems of
common mode voltage variations a new DTC algorithm was developed, in which, only odd or only
even voltage vectors will be applied in each sector in which stator flux lies without using any zero
voltage vectors. However, this method gave torque ambiguity. To overcome the torque ambiguity,
modified DTC algorithm has been proposed The variable switching technique is a part of the
conventional DTC technique . It was firstly introduced by Takahashi and Noguchi around 1980 s this
method is the wide band of the switching frequency of the inverter even when the flux and torque
references are kept constant. The conventional DTC scheme has some inherent

The Leather Flight Chair Enclosed Olbarwulf
The leather flight chair enclosed Olbarwulf in its embrace like an old friend which, all things
considered, it might as well be. The blaring klaxons, the stamping flight boots, and the incessant
shouting filtered through the cockpit canopy. All were familiar to him. And yet, even after all these
years of deployment, the constant din still was still unnerving. Exhaling slowly, Olbarwulf leaned
back, feeling through his coarse mane, feeling for the socket at the base of his neck. When did I last go
under? he queried, touching the depression, thumbing the optic and data input cables. He needed to go
under, to feel the Thunderbolt as a part of him, to fly. He yearned for that kind of freedom. But it
would have to wait. His co pilot was late, and a failure to launch fully crewed would land Olbarwulf
directly in the sights of a commissar. The sounds of labored breathing and the unsteady clump of flight

Krienger. One of the heavily persecuted Flavix, Gustaf s life as a co pilot was harsh and violent,
characterised by the latticework of scars stretching down from his large, dusky eyes to his whiskered

An Analysis Of Flannery O Connor
The percentage of people who say they believe in God, pray, frequently go to religious services,
embrace minimal religious practices or find their faith meaningful has declined over the last 50 years.
A growing group of Americans do not believe in God or any organized faith. In fact, unbelief is even
fashionable. Religious conviction is perceived as burdensome or an outdated attitude easily discarded.
This is the backdrop upon which 20th century American, Southern Gothic writer, Flannery O Connor,
wrote her books and short stories in the 1950s and 1960s. She, in her short stories and books of
fiction, did not describe beautiful rooms or people living happily ever after; she wrote about the
human condition in the American South and the state of religious conviction. She wrote about
unbelievers, lukewarm souls, narcissists and the spiritually illiterate. She wrote about racists, white
trash, busy bodies and poor, beaten down black folks. She wrote about the unraveling of faith where
the default mode for her characters was apathy, smugness, desapir or indifference. She believed the
South was haunted by religion but as a group were literally swimming in mediocrity, cynicism and
emptiness a rough and tumble nihilism. They might say their faith mattered or attended services, but
many were just lying to their neighbors and themselves. To her, they were just checking the box with a
faith bordering on tepid and pathetic. She felt, given their current status, they would not know a

The Legal Concept Of Tort Law
Introduction Tort law is an area of law that focuses on the civil wrongful action of an individual that
causes injury to the other party. The action causes someone else to suffer loss hence a legal liability.
The loss may be property, personal reputation or life related requires that the affected entity be
compensated by the cause of the damage. The concept of tort law is applicable in handling civil issues
in the world of today hence a relevant area of study (Gardipee, 2013). The paper seeks to address the
legal concept of tort, the relation to the case of a famous United States of America pharmacist Robert
Courtney.it will further dwell on other lawsuit associated with the victim in the case scenario.
The legal concept of tort Tort law is a civil law that is very different from other types of laws such as
criminal or contract law. Many cases the offense may be due to negligence or breach of duty but
cannot be summarized as a criminal offense. The party that has suffered the loss normally can recover
the loss through a lawsuit. A lawsuit is a claim that is filed by the injured party to seek compensation
from the wrongdoer over the damage incurred. There four key elements of tort law that are crucial in
handling the concept (Deakin and Johnston, 2012).The duty of care, breach of duty, causation and
resulting damage or injury. For one to commit a tort, he or she must owe a legal duty to the victim.
This may occur in the line of duty for instance health professionals as in

his address, he also utilizes parallelism to bring the focus back to the foundation of his campaign.

Most teens are trying to figure out who they are, what they believe, and how they fit into the world

Melinda is good at shooting free throws, which is fitting because free throws are rewarded to a person
when he or she has been fouled. Melinda was fouled and she acknowledged the significance of
shooting free throws in her life at the time. She said, The other team fouls you, you get to pay them

comment with this: But that s not the way it works, in basketball or in life. (76) On the other hand,
when Melinda plays tennis, she seems to appreciate the fairness of the foot fault. In tennis, each player
is allowed two chances to serve; and when someone s foot crosses the line they are supposed to stand
behind, a foot fault is called, and the player may then try again. A foot fault. Wrong foot forward, toe
over the line. I get a second chance. Another civilized aspect of tennis. (170) Like many other children
who have suffered from a trauma, Melinda found help through sports. After anyone has been

Family And Consumer Sciences Education Essay
Family and Consumer Sciences Education has tremendously evolved since its beginning roots with
Ellen Swallow Richards. FCS has obtained a new role within public schools and the community, far
different than it was before. What was previously seen as the classes for women is now a requirement
for high school graduation plans. The positive societal views of Family and Consumer Sciences is
increasing the development as well as furthering the program. The following analyzes and examines
the Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum that is currently being implemented in Texas public
schools. The role of Family and Consumer Sciences in public school is reflected through multiple
social trends and influences. One of the most dominant and interdependent trends is digital
technology. The world of technology has immensely transformed over the past ten years. These
modifications have revolutionized the way a teacher educates as well as the way a student learns.
Sewing machines, for instance, have been significantly modified. Machines now have a mind of their
own as they can individually function off of the press of a button. This technological advancement
will play a role in how a teacher, who was once taught on a basic machine, instructs. Digital
technology s role in FCS can be clearly depicted through any course of study. As digital technology
continues to evolve, so will the Family and Consumer Sciences courses and the methods of teaching/

Also, the Mojave tribe had different shelters. They were made out of bundles of grass and a sturdy

Analysis Of American Pie
Modernism was a 20th century literary movement that depicted a period of uncertainty and disillusion
in the United States. The literary movement was marked by various culture shock caused by events
such as both World Wars and the Vietnam War. Because of such shock, American culture and societal
values changed as society began to focus more on the self and forgo the traditional Victorian values
and virtues of the preceding Romantic era. During this movement, writer sought to write in a way that
better suited the modern world and thus chose to focus on the decay of values and growing alienation
of the individual. Writers and poets began using techniques such as streams of consciousness and
writing with a sense of ambiguity. There was also the poetic movement, imagism during the
Modernism era where poets became increasingly concerned with presenting a simple, clear image to
their readers. Due to his use of modernist techniques and poetic devices such as the adoption of the
stream of consciousness writing style, the use imagery, allusions, and symbolism, Don McLean s
song, American Pie, can be considered a work of modernist poetry. By way of his literary techniques
and poetic devices, McLean is able to take his listeners through a pivotal decade in American history
in just eight and a half minutes; however, it is what makes his lyrics a song that helps build American
Pie s tone and further develop the theme of a generation s early loss of innocence, culture, and values
that

Persuasive Essay On Youth Sports
There has been a lot of debate over the past years involving youth sports, whether you should let your
child play or not. Tee ball, soccer, football, volleyball, basketball are among the sports parents
contemplate to sign their child up for. Some of that debate as well is what is the perfect age they
should start playing sports. However, if your child is under 10 years old you should not put your child
in youth sports because; there is a lot of bad coaches, parents interfering with the coaches and officials
during games, and coaches only want to win on game day. More and more you hear or read evidence
of bad coaching in youth sports. You have probably seen it firsthand. A coach throwing their
clipboard, yelling at a child for missing up, and even telling the kids at halftime what they did wrong
instead of what they did right. Every year if you keep up with youth sports around the nation not just
your state, you can read about how parents are complaining about having a bad coach for their child,
how they did not play or was not taught the sport. Some coaches are only coaching because they
signed up their child to play a sport and they believe they can teach him and others the sport. Knowing
the sport, and knowing how to teach the sport is two different things. Some believe they need to run
their program for 10 and under like a boot camp and yell at the kids and talk down to them in front of
other kids. Most coaches in leagues are not certified to coach so anyone can be a coach, if you pass a
background check. This process does not make every person who signs up their child for youth sports
very confident.
A background check only consists of, depending on the organization, criminal chargers especially any
involved with children. Since a coach volunteers their time rarely do they need to be certified in
coaching or ask to take special coaching classes. A coach who usually volunteers is a parent of a child
who is playing, who have themselves played an organized sport before. An example of Parents
interfering with officials and coaches in a game is when, there is a bad call by an official at any
sporting event, you will see a negative response from the parents of that team. Officiating is a
judgement based on

individuals exhibited sound leadership and follower ship identified by modern research on leadership.
This paper will visit several leadership theories and methods from respected sources and compare and

Its takes courage, experience and resolve to change roles because of situations, especially if the role is
a demotion to a lesser position. In my opinion, the most important part of leadership is interpreting
leader follower situation and responding efficiently and effectively for the overall good. Coach Yoast
was excellent at interpreting situations. His actions and observation skills also facilitated the success
of the team racial merger when Gary and Julius came together at football camp. His hesitation to
interfere when Gary and Julius initially united on the field, in what initially appeared to be a
confrontation, brought the team together. Since Julius and Gary are team leaders informally and
formally respectfully, Coach Yoast ability to interoperate the situation and allow them to celebrate
brought the team together.
Coach Boone had an excellent follower or Co leader. Coach Hines co leadership abilities seemed to be
the conscious for Coach Boone. He steps in and positively influenced Coach Boone decision. Also,
Coach Yoast is excellent as a co leader. The success of an organization or team is incumbent upon the
abilities of everyone and all successful leaders have highly effective co leaders.
Sheryl Yoast, although she was nine years old, provided leadership. Her love for the game and
relationship with her father provided her with experience needed to accurately interoperate certain

Research Paper On The Ugly Puppy In The Window
The Ugly Puppy in the Window
It s nearly impossible to walk by a pet store and to ignore the cute puppies in the window. Their paws
leaning against the glass, they re begging us to take them home and out of an impulse, some people
occasionally do. Taking a puppy home and introducing it to its new environment is usually associated
with great joy. Their clumsy behavior, wagging tails, and curious noses make everyone smile, and you
don t have to be a dog lover to fall for these big puppy eyes. What a lot of people don t know when
they purchase a puppy at a pet store, however, is that the little dog might have spent its first few weeks
in a large breeding facility where dogs are bred for sole profit, commonly known as a puppy mill.
Although the USDA, the United States Department of Agriculture, has laws in place to keep these
animals safe, the housing and husbandry standards are often barely minimal, leading to suffering
puppies and breeding females with terrible health concerns, as well as psychological traumas.
The Humane Society of the United States estimates that there are currently around 10,000 puppy mills
in the US which produce 2.11 million puppies for retail a year (Puppy ... Show more content on

dogs and females that can no longer breed usually face three options. In the worst case, they are
neglected and slowly die a painful death. Some of them are euthanized by the miller, meaning they are
shot, drowned, or suffocated. The lucky ones will be given away to shelters or sold at auctions. Even

The And Of A Democracy
There is general agreement in the field that the United States, France, Australia, India, and countless
other countries are democracies. In the same vein, political scientists are not wasting their breath
arguing that China, Saudi Arabia, and North Korea are not democracies. But, between these obvious
examples are countless examples of countries that fall somewhere in between. For political scientists,
it is often impossible to distinguish which nations are democracies, which are autocracies, and where
the line falls. There is no one agreed upon definition of a democracy, and no agreed upon set of traits
of a democracy. Some, such as those used by Dahl (What Political Institutions... 8) are dichotomous,
while others like the Freedom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One common trait looked for within a democracy is turnover of leadership positions. If control over
the legislature or the executive positions changes, it shows that the elections were competitive, that the
old party was willing to leave office, and that a new, different party was able to take control (Gilbert
275). Elections must be fair, often meaning they are monitored by an independent third party.
However, they must also be respected, meaning an incumbent who loses must leave office.
So, what traits are necessary for a regime to hold competitive elections? Dahl describes several traits
of a liberal democracy, with several notable traits being that the regime is responsible to the will of the
people, there is freedom of expression, independent news sources, and inclusive citizenship (Dahl
Institutions Necessary for... 6 7). Serval of these are self evident. What is the point of an election if it
does not affect the agenda of the government? Others traits require further examination.
It is obvious that sources of information not under the control of the incumbent. However, the lines
between free and unfree press are often blurry. Democracies can be considered illiberal as members of
the opposition can be denied air time or media coverage (Levitsky 53) or private journalists can be
harassed (Levitsky 54). These violations would skew the information available to the

  • 4. Assyrian Empire Essay For a few centuries after the death of Shamshi Adad I, Assyrian cities were subjugated by a succession of outsiders: Babylonians under Hammurabi, Hittites and Mitanni Hurrians. From 1791 to 1360 A.D. control over Assyria passed back and forth, although Assyria itself remained more or less stable. After a power struggle between the Hittites and Mitanni, the Hittites successfully broke the power of the Mitanni in the region. Assyria then began to take control over territories that had belonged to Mitanni. The Hittites battled with the Assyrians, but the Assyrian king Ashur Uballit stamped out any remaining Mitanni or Hittite control over northern Mesopotamia. The Middle Empire King Ashur Uballit, who ruled from c. 1353 to 1318 B.C., succeeded in gathering all former Mitanni regions under his control. He also battled the Hurrians, Hittites and the Kassite king of Babylon. Ashur Uballit married his daughter to the Babylonian king, angering the Babylonian people. They promptly slew the king and replaced him with a pretender to the throne. King Ashur Uballit then invaded Babylon, killed the pretender and placed another Kassite royal on the throne. The missile weapons were fired or projected from a distance and were found effective due to their range, but accuracy became important and so did the skill involved in warfare. Handheld weapons represented a large portion of the weapons used during 16th Century warfare (Iannuzzo). Most commonly used was the sword. Throughout the middles ages, metals were developed to withstand more abuse and thus became more effective (Iannuzzo). The metals now had to strong enough to pierce through the newly developed armor of the time (Revell, Armour ). The use of carbonized iron, which was heated, beaten, and cut the process repeated many times over to form a solid and durable and lighter than previous swords. The double edge sword was far superior in strength and sharpness of the other swords of the time (Grolier). The 16th century also brought forth the use of flamberge sword that had an undulating cutting edge, that was believed to be able to easily pierce the armor, but was too awkward for battle and was eventually abandoned. By this time the Great sword, sometimes over six feet in length, were being deployed. This sword was deadly only because of the pure size of it. The great swords required enormous strength just to hold and even more to be effective. Eventually the great sword became too awkward to use in battle just as the flamberge. • 6. Childhood Transition The transition from childhood to adulthood is a defining phase in the lives of many people. For some, it involves tradition and celebration; while for others it occurs in a defining moment. For me, the transition was a gradual process involving growth through leadership in middle school and high school. As a young child in elementary school, I was very shy and anxious about everything. As I continued to grow older, I started to grow out of my introverted nature with the help of my friends, teachers, and family. In fact, I started to go in the opposite direction and became more outgoing. This trend continued into middle school as I decided to try to run for student council, thinking that it would help me grow and become more popular. He loved to play games like Stare_Woofs, or really any hacking game. When he grew up... he was a hacker, a black hat one. By the time he was 25, he was a very skilled hacker, even attempted the white house once, almost made it when the daily system reboot threw em out. One day, he heard a knock on his apartment door while he was playing Stare_Woofs 3. At this point he was 31 years old. This is the CIA. Open up or we will arrest. First off we have the ancient Mesopotamian narrative Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is told a story by, an immortal man, that long ago the gods had decided to destroy the whole world by sending a flood. Sumerians were the first to write the flood account in cuneiform then the Akkadian s carried it on, there were two types of dialects Babylonian and Assyrian and they each had their own version of the flood story. This shows that they were recounting the stories that they have been told, writing it in their own style. Originally, Ungit has no statue to show her face: only a misshapen black stone, which the old Priest asserts is, in a mystery, Ungit herself. Towards the end of the book, Orual considers the stone. She finds that rather than having no face, Ungit has a thousand of them: the unevenness of the stone makes it truly multifaceted, just as Ungit is intricately bound up in every detail of life in Glome. Focusing solely on yourself as a productive member of society rather than a businessman. Have you ever wondered why your favourite park is demolished to peices in order to build houses or expand roadways? Have you ever felt that your volunteer work is not appreciated or valued anymore? Have you ever felt that your most productive days in the workplace come from a foundation of happiness. Hello, my name is Shelby Ward and I am here to present my findings of why Gross National Happiness is a superior and more effective way to measure a Country s overall well being. Currently, the widely accepted measurement of the economic success of a country is found solely in a number. A country s Gross Domestic Product or GDP. GDP follows the interaction of goods and services with regards to their production and consumption. By measuring consumer, government and industry spending along with the balance of trade, the GDP is a reliable indicator of economic health. Many economists suggest that this is the only way to measure, however as reliable as it is, GDP only measures one thing Money. For many, an economy s health is determined by several factors. Simply put, there are more important things to consider like happiness, for example. First off. Gross Domestic Product is solely and number and speaks nothing about citizens overall well being. The Physiology, Metabolism, Biochemistry Toxoplasma gondii, Joan Ng Kiat Yee: BM304 revision guide 2015 The physiology, metabolism, biochemistry Toxoplsama gondii is an intracellular apicomplexan parasite that forms cyst coccidian in warm blooded animals, primarily in the Felida domestic cats (Shannon et al., 2015). The organism also causes a wide range of diseases in different intermediate hosts, ranging from animals, such as mammals and birds to human (Astrid et al., 2000). In human, this parasite poses serious threat by causing a disease called Toxoplasmosis (Parasites, 2015). The parasite exits through the faeces of cats. Within the cat s intestinal epithelium, T. gondii parasite undergoes gametogenesis and mating. This leads to the generation of oocysts containing sporozoites that are the shed in the cat s faeces, which could readily infect new host cells (Joanne et al., 2013). Nevertheless, it seems that the most crucial characters in the epic are female. Homer uses the characters of Thetis, Andromache, and Helen as a basis for comparison to the male characters. Homer wants his audience to see and understand the folly of his male characters in choosing war over peace, aggression over kindness, and honor over family. While the behavior of these characters clearly speaks for itself, the contrasting attitudes and behaviors of the female characters proffer an alternative; in comparison, the reader can hardly fail to concur with Homer s message that war, aggression, ... Therefore, although it superficially seems that Thetis supports war and aggression, her true motives are far more admirable. Unlike Thetis, Andromache s values are clear. On the rampart in book six, she makes an impassioned plea to Hector for reason and peace. Pity me, please! she says, Take your stand on the rampart here, before you orphan your son and make your wife a widow. Market-Oriented Approaches to Firms Market Oriented Approaches to Firms As world markets become globalized, heightened competition and uncertain economic and social environments pose significant new challenges for firms. It is important for firms to develop management systems that have the capability to react quickly to change and that promote innovation. Competitive advantage lies with those firms that have adapted to become learning organizations with the capacity to constantly monitor external environments to swiftly respond to change (Kauppila et.al, 2011). Today s most successful firms favor information and knowledge, function under less hierarchy and value team production over the management systems of the past era of mass production (Calerio, 2008). Those systems relied on top down direction, which greatly limited agility in decision making. Today, global markets demand greater flexibility and on the spot decision making. The answer then becomes access to relevant information the more knowledge the firm has, the more capable it becomes in regards to outpacing competitors. Firms today can benefit greatly from market orientations. This allows for greater flexibility in generating and integrating crucial information into the business. If not for his ability to expand the way in which music is created, played and heard, current music would lack the polyphonic sound that is needed in order to create texture and depth. Beethoven is believed to be purely a classical composer. However, to the contrary he can also be considered purely romantic. His compositions consisted of a form that was never heard before and in turn inspired future artists to copy him. This form was believed to have created the basis for music during the Romantic Era. Back then men and women were usually assumed to have certain occupations. For example, in the 1950s women were supposed to become housewives and stay at home all day cleaning, cooking, or taking care of their children (Parry 1584). Men on the other hand, were suspected to go out and work all day doing whatever occupation they held. Due to the media uprising in the 19th century, women began to feel restrained on what they can accomplish. They began to care about their appearance more than anything else. This is one of the factors that created the gender gap, but society has always had the gap that has separated the two. • 29. Literature Review Of The Literature Of Approach And Flight... Review of the Literature Approach and landing accidents (ALAs) have been a persistent aviation safety concern. As early as the Wright brothers pioneering efforts of manned flight, controlled landing without crashing was a target end state of successful flight (Wright Brothers Aeroplane Company, n.d.). More than a century later, perturbations to the approach and landing phases of flight prevail. In an earlier study by the FSF ALAR Task Force, the average worldwide fatal ALA rate from 1980 through 1996 was 16.8 per year (FSF, 1999). Between 2007 and 2016, approximately 56% of all fatal accidents in worldwide commercial operations occurred during the approach and landing phases of flight (Boeing, 2017). Although substantially less than the fatal ALA rate of 23 per year predicted a decade earlier (FSF, 1999), this is an average fatal ALA rate of 3.5 per year. However, these numbers do not account for the nonfatal ALA accidents and incidents resulting in aircraft damage and other adverse outcomes. While the average fatal ALA rate has been significantly reduced, the ALA risk has not. Although only as many as 4 percent of all approaches occur in conditions jeopardizing aviation safety, nearly 97 percent of those at risk approaches are voluntarily continued to landing (FSF, 2017). According to these numbers, only 3 percent of at risk approaches in commercial aviation are countered by adherence to the policies and procedures intended to mitigate them. While ALAs occur at a ... It is recognized as an alternative method to field oriented control (FOC). Industrial drives with DTC are present in the market today.DTC is proposed to control electromagnetic torque and stator flux by directly modifying the stator voltage in accordance with the torque and flux errors DTC has added advantages over FOC absence of mechanical transducer, no requirement of co ordinate transformation ,and a very simple control scheme with less computational time Though DTC is simple and have fast transient response, it generates high level common mode voltage variations. To avoid the problems of common mode voltage variations a new DTC algorithm was developed, in which, only odd or only even voltage vectors will be applied in each sector in which stator flux lies without using any zero voltage vectors. However, this method gave torque ambiguity. To overcome the torque ambiguity, modified DTC algorithm has been proposed The variable switching technique is a part of the conventional DTC technique . The blaring klaxons, the stamping flight boots, and the incessant shouting filtered through the cockpit canopy. All were familiar to him. And yet, even after all these years of deployment, the constant din still was still unnerving. Exhaling slowly, Olbarwulf leaned back, feeling through his coarse mane, feeling for the socket at the base of his neck. When did I last go under? he queried, touching the depression, thumbing the optic and data input cables. He needed to go under, to feel the Thunderbolt as a part of him, to fly. Religious conviction is perceived as burdensome or an outdated attitude easily discarded. This is the backdrop upon which 20th century American, Southern Gothic writer, Flannery O Connor, wrote her books and short stories in the 1950s and 1960s. She wrote about unbelievers, lukewarm souls, narcissists and the spiritually illiterate. She wrote about racists, white trash, busy bodies and poor, beaten down black folks. She wrote about the unraveling of faith where the default mode for her characters was apathy, smugness, desapir or indifference. She believed the South was haunted by religion but as a group were literally swimming in mediocrity, cynicism and emptiness a rough and tumble nihilism. The concept of tort law is applicable in handling civil issues in the world of today hence a relevant area of study (Gardipee, 2013). The paper seeks to address the legal concept of tort, the relation to the case of a famous United States of America pharmacist Robert Courtney.it will further dwell on other lawsuit associated with the victim in the case scenario. The legal concept of tort Tort law is a civil law that is very different from other types of laws such as criminal or contract law. Many cases the offense may be due to negligence or breach of duty but cannot be summarized as a criminal offense. The party that has suffered the loss normally can recover the loss through a lawsuit. A lawsuit is a claim that is filed by the injured party to seek compensation from the wrongdoer over the damage incurred. There four key elements of tort law that are crucial in handling the concept (Deakin and Johnston, 2012).The duty of care, breach of duty, causation and resulting damage or injury. Knowing the sport, and knowing how to teach the sport is two different things. Some believe they need to run their program for 10 and under like a boot camp and yell at the kids and talk down to them in front of other kids.
